Welcome to Mega Mercs.

This is a tactical turn based collective game where each player takes on the role of a mech pilot, vehicle crew or cavalry rider. To join read the rule sheet and then select a unit and loadout from the quick start sheet.

This is the second mission that will help me test out the system, so don’t worry about long term progression, feel free to try things out and ask question.

“On behalf of the Councillor I hereby engage the services of your company. The clans are riding forth into the neighbouring nations to claim territory for the greater glory of Neromius. The country of NORD believes itself safe behind the ocean between our borders and looks to assist its neighbours in repelling our invasion. That is why my superiors wish to open up a second front and invade NORD directly from across the sea.

To that end we must eliminate NORD’s coastal defences. Your team will be part of a larger operation to eliminate the heavy missile batteries and early warning radars. For this mission you will travel covertly, following a ravine until you reach the mission area. While in the ravine you will be shielded from detection by any units occupying the high ground, however this works both ways.

We do not know the exact location of your targets so you will have to get to the top of the cliffs then sweep the area. Mega-Cavalry that can climb and mecha with jump jets will be able to exit the ravine directly but any vehicles will have to move up cliff-side paths further up the ravine. As the river widens it will become too deep to traverse (dark blue area), however there are fording points by the islet out near the delta where it flows into the sea.

Be advised: the radar trucks are protected by CRAM turrets that will shoot down any missiles or large calibre shells, so either deal with the turrets or hit the trucks with weapons that cannot be intercepted. Enemy forces deployed to defend the area mainly consist of infantry and light vehicles, however once you are detected the NORD military will likely deploy QRF teams composed of attack choppers, heavy VTOLs and heliborne infantry.

Drone controllers come with a datalink by default. If what you're asking is if somebody with a datalink could control an "orphaned" drone then no.

What could happen is: If a FRIENDLY drone was orphaned and there was another friendly unit which had a drone controller that had lost all their drones, the controller could "adopt" the drone provided it was in range.

No, the drones themselves will exercise a certain amount of discretion. E.g the Gecko is not going to use it's rocket pod on infantry. However it might use it on a smaller vehicle where you'd prefer it saved it for a larger target. Such is the limitations of using drones.

The only thing not immediately obvious is that critical damage isn't dealt to the general HP, but to a tiny pool of separate internal HP. Knowing this shifts the understanding on the importance of critical damage and the Internal Reinforcement upgrade.

The customization system is great, I lke it a lot. It's only flaw is it's so interesting that I already want another game to try out more stupid gimmick builds.

What feels underpowered is HMG (only good against infantry, and infantry ATGMs outrange it by a lot) and Light Autocannon (its only advantage over a smartgun is that it works when EMP shocked or hacked, but when in EMP shock you want to spend your only action on recovery, not shooting)
Hacking also feels underpowered as of now, but this might be a function of the particular opposing force composition.
