Girls Und Panzer Quest 1: Boy in a Girl’s World! First Time on a School Ship!

Combat Mechanics Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/6azH2G41

April 7th

As you approach the ferry to take you to Ōoarai Girls Academy you stop to gather your nerves. Surrounding you are 100s of schoolgirls, ready for a new year of school. The Ōoarai Student Council scouted you and your crew – they’re restarting their Tanker – no wait Sensha-dō program and scouted you to help them get it off the ground in exchange for a full scholarship on a Japanese school carrier for your last two years of high school as well as a chance to compete in the prestigious National High-School Sensha-Dō Tournament – the most famous of its kind anywhere in the world.
You and your crew jumped at the chance to get a leg up in the Tankery world, despite most of you being male.
Being in Japan also gives you an opportunity to compete in the newest tournament the Sensha-Dō Federation has introduced, a high-school tank duelling league, something your crew is eager to try.

You look down at the form clutched in your hands, a final bit of paperwork you hadn’t had the chance to hand in due to your rushed entrance to the school. It reads:

SENSHA-DŌ ENROLLMENT FORM

Name:
>Write-in

Country of Origin:
> Britain (+ 1 St. Gloriana Contact)
> Germany (+1 Kuromuromine Contact)
> USA (+1 Saunders Contact)
> Russia (+1 Pravda Contact)
> Italy (+1 Anzio Contact)

School of Tankery:
> Radley-Walters School (When operating independently enemy critical successes downgraded to regular success and your critical failures upgraded to regular failures)
> Knispiel School (Plus 1 to accuracy DC)
> Pool School (Mobility rolls only impact accuracy on a crit)
> Kolobanov School (Can roll to Oppose 4 Penetrations)
> Pascucci School (All rolls made while defending a teammate while on 1 HP are auto success)

Hobby:
> Art (Gain skill Camoflage - If you didn't move last turn enemy autofails awareness if your camo matches the surroundings)
> Boxing (Gain skill Toughness - can roll off against the enemy when penetrated twice)
> Journalism (Gain Media Contact - wins give Ōorai more fame and funding)
> History (Bonuses when looking for information on anything)
> Maths (Helps to 'find money in the budget')
> Volleyball (Push past the limits - Mobility rolls only have a negative impact on crit fails)

You declared your trusty Panther II. Found on your Uncle’s farm 60 years after the war it was in a sorry state when you found it. But, between yourself, your uncle and the Munster Tank Museum, you’ve managed to get it into fighting shape.

Stuffing the enrolment form back into your pocket, you look towards the ferry. It’s an old-looking thing, cast iron and covered in rust. As you approach you see the shipping container holding your tank being slowly lowered into the hold to be transferred to the school ship with you.

You hear the thud of the schoolgirls in front of you and your footsteps as you make your way across the gangway onto the ferry and you decide to:

> Go check on your tank in the hold.
> Go to the canteen and see if you can find your crew.

Italics indicates another language, usually German

>New Contact: Ruby (Gunner)

You descend into the bowels of the ferry, ducking the low hanging pipes that threaten to take your head off and weaving through the narrow corridor between groups of schoolgirls loitering in the hallway and moving through it themselves.

You make it to the canteen, and find it packed to the brim. Mostly your soon to be classmates, chatting loudly about boys or fashion or whatever else it is teenage girls talk about. You also see a smattering of kids and adults around, likely the families of students and those who work in the shops on board the carrier.

Scanning the room, you see a familiar bob cut attached to a familiar face. Eyebrows burrowed in concentration, you see your gunner Ruby, the sole girl on your team scratching away at her notebook with her pencil.

Hey Ruby”! You shout, waving your arm at her, struggling to get her attention over the noise in the canteen.

Upon hearing her name Ruby’s head perks up, scanning the room till her eyes meet yours before smiling and returning the wave.

Fritz, over here”. She says as you walk over “ Thank God you’re here, Axel, Max and Leo got on an earlier boat and didn’t tell me! I was afraid I’d get lost and fall off the schoolship! ”.

You chuckle at the exasperation and obvious relief in her voice and catch a glance at the book she was scribbling in. “Japanese for dummies? Bit late to be just getting started”.

Pffffft, I’m kilometres ahead of you Fritz but it doesn’t hurt to brush up on the basics”. Casually dismissing your jest before settling back down and continuing to write away. “Don’t want to use the wrong suffix and have someone coming for my head with a katana or something”.

“I suppose so”. You reply, looking out the window you see the shape of the carrier looming ahead of you. You probably have time to do one more thing before you reach the ship.

You decide to
> Chill with Ruby until the ferry reaches Ōoarai

Weird thought but seeing an Autocannon tank in GuP would be really cool. I know we've already picked a tank but I kinda wanna see a 40mm Autocannon in the future.

The rules of the 1v1 Tournament mentioned in the OP haven't been decided yet. If you can get the support of the rest of the thread and find the money/a light enough tank I'll make it like the Tankathalon in Ribbon warrior instead of a normal 1v1
>>
>>4226757
No no it's not something I want that much just a curious thought.

More me questioning why we've never really seen Autocannons in the shows since iirc Bofors 40mm is fairly decent velocity.

Ah yes the panther 2, from what i remember in history all its parts were complete and a working one was to be assembled till the allies did the classic bomb everything to smitherines buisness on the main factory it was being assembled at. So werewolf is even more rare than a maus or king tiger i presume.

From what I remember Anzio used tanks with autocannons for all the good that did them

>>4226776
Well spotted, remind me of this when talking to Maho for the first time and I'll give you something nice

>>4226791
I was going to expand during the training sequence but since you asked:

MG fire works off accuracy, if you crit an accuracy roll or are at really close range you can use the MGs for free in order to force a contested composure roll (you roll against them and if you roll lower their next shot misses, this goes both ways).

Being unbuttoned provides an awareness boost but if the enemy crits an accuracy roll you may be knocked unconscious and vice versa. Buttoning/Unbuttoning is free to do every turn.

Suppression happens when your accuracy roll misses the dc by 2 or less and adds a negative modifier to the tank being suppressed's accuracy.

No numbers yet because I'm fiddling with them for balance but you'll have concrete numbers before St. Gloriana
>>
>>4226818
Ahh yes getting knocked out by the completely safe high explosive cannons and heavy machine guns. Shensha-do is truly the most wonderful and totally safe sport kek.

“I’m going to check on Werewolf” you say to Ruby, getting a murmur of affirmation in response, her attention still directed towards her scribblings in her textbook.

You walk over to the window and snap a quick picture of the carrier to send to Koume before turning towards the stairs leading further into the ship and sending the picture, along with a small caption:

<AppleFritz>: Be seeing you at the other end of my gun barrel soon

Her reply is instant

<Akaboss> Not if I see you first

Followed by

<Akaboss> OMG you go to Ōoarai? Since when? Why didn’t you tell me you’re in Japan? Have you brought along my dear Pup as well?

<AppleFritz> Yes, Today, I wanted to surprise you, yes in that order

You reply, smiling as you remember Koume’s year in Germany, helping the Munster tank museum where she helped restore Werewolf and the two of you became close friends, bonding over your love of Tankery and ironically named Big Cats.

<Akaboss> Well you certainly surprised me! Let me know when you make a port call, we can try arrange something!

<AppleFritz> Will do. I’ve gotta go but I’ll talk to you later diver.

You smirk as you put the phone away, the buzzing of your phone going off confirming her swim during the finals of the 62nd High School Sensha-Dō Tournament was still a sore point for her.

You arrive at the container holding Werewolf and unlock it, the large metal door groaning as it opens, the light from the hold illuminating the crate.

There he sits. Werewolf in all his glory. You do a round of the tank giving the tracks a kick for good luck; as you run your hand along the surface of the tank that made you and your crew a minor celebrity in the German tankery scene.

Strapped on the back of Werewolf, under a tarp so you could sneak it to Japan with you was your:

>1950s Harley Davidson – you got it from your Dad, ex-Bundeswehr who bought it from Americans in Germany after the war. It’s your pride and joy (apart from werewolf of course).
>Kawaski Versys – X – You’re a bit of a petrolhead, and you’re in Japan for more than just tanks
> Vespa scooter – you just need to get around

I know according to Japanese law you shouldn’t be allowed to ride but travelling is a big part of the social aspect of this quest. Plus I love motorcycles.

As your examining your technically-illegal-according-to-Japanese-tanking-rules modification (listed below) to your tank you hear the door to the container creaking open and see the light from the hold flooding the rest of the container.

“You can come in, I don’t bite but Werewolf might,” you say to the air, betting that someone was at the door and that Ruby would’ve said something by now.

“Hwah, Werewolf? THE Werewolf? The only operation Panther II in existance? Scourge of Fulda and one of the best Sensha-Dō teams in Europe? Ahhhh I feel dizzy”. You turn around and see a girl suspended horizontally, hanging off Werewolf’s gun barrel.

“I wouldn’t put it quite like that but yes. Werewolf is the only Panther II in the world. I’m Fritz Hermann by the way nice to meet you”

THUMP.

You see the girl fall off the gun and flip into a landing before dusting herself off and promptly bowing to you deeply.

“Sorrysorrysorry I totally forgot my manners for a second I’m
Akiyama Yukari. It’s a pleasure to meet you Hermann-dono. It’s just that I love tanks and seeing such a rare tank with such a distinguished Sensha-Dō career… I couldn’t control myself”. The Japanese come out far too fast and you almost miss it.

You can hear the ferry pulling close to the carrier, according to the Student Council President you’d be allowed to drive the tank straight off the Ferry into Ōoarai once it was unloaded

> Don’t sweat it Yukari, just Fritz is fine and it’s a pleasure to meet you too.
> If you like Werewolf that much would you like to ride with us to the school yard? He’s been boxed up for a month and I want to take him for a spin. I just hope my driver is close…

“You’re offering ME a chance to ride such a rare Panzer! Oh thank you ever so much Hermann-dono”. That’s about all you catch before her Japanese gets too fast for you to follow.

------------Line Break----------

It takes less than an hour for your tank to be unloaded, a time that would be surprisingly fast if you were anywhere but Japan, the home of efficiency. An hour was also long enough for Yukari and Ruby to become acquainted the two chatting animatedly about all things tanks and tank guns.

“Hermann” A sharp authoritative voice rings out across the docks “Good to finally meet you. I’m Kawashima Momo, PR manager of the student council. You have a form for me”.

You can barely nod your head before she turns around and marches off clearly a woman on a mission

Axel just stands there, looking to you for direction.

Like dealing with twelve-year olds”. You mutter before dragging Yukari away from Werewolf before she can molest him any further. “Yukari, this is my crew Max, Axel and Leo, this is Yukari fellas. Let’s load up and…

Personally the weaponary's enough to keep me invested but there's bound to be a lot of people who want to bang a lot of different girls.

GuP just on it's own is full of best girls and you're adding girls from other media like RWBY.

It's best to make obvious where you stand on it so we don't get disappointed later and it doesn't turn into a mess.

Honestly I kinda with you'd just pull a Merc and insta lock us on a best girl early so it doesn't turn into a mess but with this being a fandom quest that's unlikely.

This is true, Ruby is the only non-GuP girl you'll interact with and she only exists to facilitate the tank. She won't be an option unless anons specifically pursue her.

>Waifu limit and Hardlocking?

The limit will be one waifu, there are two (2) cases where you can achieve a ménage à trois but you would have to 1. be a super suave ladies man and 2. know which girls but I'm not going to say who they are.

You'll get a chance to interact with the girls from other schools including Rukuriri who is 2nd best girl and the Motorbike is to help facilitate a relationship with girls on other ships who have homeports elsewhere in Japan.

You will see the option :
>KISS HER
and after that you are hardlocked

The plan is for the hardlock to happen before Pravda if its a girl from another ship or earlier if they're from Ōoarai.

Hope this answers your question.

Uggh Il Duce is soo cute and she can be so hot depending on the artist but there's no way in hell she's getting any support as a waifu. Maybe this is just my Akun mindset but she's got too weak stats. She's a good commander and organizer all things considered but only really a decent scout with an incredibly weak tank.

Pfftt hhahahaha holy shit dude I didn't even think about that! The Sensha-Do legal, perfectly safe white phosphorus for legal area marking and carbon coated safe shrapnel from canister rounds to keep their heads down.

Hi all, as I said earlier I'll be running from 17:00 UTC today, just wanted to leave some questions for you guys to chew on before I get started this evening

> Give Yukari ride now as promised
> Apologise, blame momo and promise to let her in Werewolf another time

I won't say but you have the skills to make an easy roll to find out if you get a copy of the rules

Most important question:
>what kind of music does Fritz listen to while studying
>>

>Give Yukari ride now as promised
>what kind of music does Fritz listen to while studying
That’s easy, sabaton and/or ww2 chants/marches

> Give Yukari ride now as promised

Fritz is definitely a power metal type of guy so Sabaton, Powerwolf, Hammerfall, etc

Sabaton in swedish ofcourse

Gentlemen load up”. You bark, cutting through the idle chatter of your crew. They quickly get into gear, scrambling for their hatches, fluidly slipping into position. You are no different, scaling Werewolf and offering Yukari a hand up and into the tank.

“Oh, thank you!” You hear from Yukari, the platitude going ignored as you run through your startup checklist. Your diligence is rewarded by the roar of Werewolf’s engine baying for blood. The vibration beneath your hand. The smell of oil in your nose. Answer to a question you hadn’t even asked – commanding a tank – that’s where you belong.

Easy boy” you murmur softly to Werewolf as you pat the side of you cupola. “Max! Advance!” your command receives no verbal response but the lurch as Werewolf lumbers forward is answer enough.

Rolled 6 – Driver & crew appear = no mobility roll required for out of combat navigation

Your trip to the school is uneventful, Max is a skilled driver and was able to deftly navigate to the schoolyard without complication. The only point of note being Yukari earning your driver’s approval by figuring out your engine was tuned up just by hearing it.

You pull your tank up to one of the large warehouses behind the school, the automotive team rushing out to guide Werewolf in. Off to the side you see Momo, Anzu and another girl you haven’t met yet standing to the side, watching the proceedings.

You decide to
>Hop down and talk to them
>Wait for Werewolf to stop and take your crew to talk to them
>Talk to the automotive club

>Wait for Werewolf to stop and take your crew to talk to them

Werewolf slowly lumbers to a halt, the big cat’s engine dropping from a roar to a purr to nothing as Max slowly kills the engine.

“That. Was. Amazing!” You smile at Yukari’s excitement, having felt much the same the first time you commanded Werewolf. Leaving her to the tender mercies of your gunner, you and Leo approach Anzu and her entourage, trusting your driver and loader to debrief the automotive club.

“Fritz. Good to see you again”. The reason for your even being in Japan starts “Ōoarai’s glad to have tankers of your calibre to help the Sensha-Dō team hit new heights. We have the 63rd National High-School Sensha-Dō tournament and the first annual tank duelling league coming up and Ōoarai has to win capeesh?”

“Capeesh? Wha-“

“Excellent, glad you understand Fritz. I knew you were a good pick”. She returns, interrupting you and pulling out a packet of sweet potato chips. “Any questions?”

You can hear the rest of your crew and Yukari coming up behind you. You think you have time for one question before they get impatient and drag you away.

>” Tell me more about this tank duelling league”
>” What’s the Sensha-Dō team like”

“Two days from now?” She says, eyes furrowed. “The tournament isn’t for- ah” she cuts herself off, smile growing as if she’s caught onto something. “Fritz I think some information got lost in translation. The instructor for the Sensha-Dō course arrives in two days and we were planning to have a mock battle! Test our tankers ya see? The tournament isn’t for a month! Nothing to worry about”. You feel no small measure of relief, as good as you and Werewolf are, two days of training is nowhere near enough time to get ready for a tournament.

Before you can express that relief Anzu pulls you to the side “We do however have a practice match with St. Gloriana at the end of the week day 7 so it’ll be down to you, me and another exciting prospect to whip our team into shape. Clear?”

NB: Apologies if I wasn’t clear earlier gentlemen. To clarify: in two days you will face combat for the first time in the form of a training match with the other tankers from Ōoarai. The tournament doesn’t start until May 8th, 30ish days from now

With that out of the way you quickly say your goodbyes, however not before you were treated to the display of Yuzu pulling a business card out of her bra and handing it to Anzu who in turn hands it to you. You aren’t sure what to feel about that.

April 8th (Day 2)

You’re up early today, your father always taught you to be punctual and you wouldn’t want to let him down after how proud he was at you for getting a scholarship on a prestigious Japanese schoolship. Despite your crew’s and your enrolment being very last minute, Ōoarai managed to find some nice bottle green blazers for you to wear.

After a short walk to school, you find yourself in front of Ōoarai Girls Academy. The irony is not lost on you, as you walk through the gates. Nor on the schoolgirls surrounding you.

Despite your excitement to be starting at a new school, classes are as boring as they ever were. You already had a pretty good grasp on English and Maths in Japanese is twice as hard as it needs to be.

Before you know it, it’s lunch as your packing up you hear a voice.

“Hey, Nishizumi, new boy over here!~” you turn and see a cute redhead and a tall brunette looking at you. “You guys wanna join us for lunch?”

>Sure I’d love to, call me Fritz. You are?

“Only if you call me Saori cutie~”. The redhead answers with a win “And this fine lady to my left is Hana”. Prompting a wave from her.

“And ah, I’m Nishizumi Miho, but you can call me Miho”. Comes the reply from

“Great, c’mon lets go get some lunch, we can talk more in the cafeteria!” Saori grabs your arm, pulling you with her before you can protest the other two following behind.

Before long you find yourself seating in the with your new friends. Unfortunately, there is no Bratwurst, but the salmon teriyaki is a decent substitute. You dig in, listening with half an ear as the girls talk about Birthdays. Miho even knows yours!

>Ask about Maho

“Say Miho, you don’t happen to be related to a girl named Maho do you? Her and Black Forest High School are pretty famous in German Sensha-Dō circles”. Miho visibly flinches at the mention of Black Forest but is obviously smiling as she talks about her sister.

“Yes! Maho is my older sister. She’s really really good at Sensha-Dō”. She pauses to take a bite. “Are you into Sensha-Dō too?” Her voice full of trepidation.

“Indeed”. You reply “Me and my crew are here on Tankery scholarships to help Ōoarai win the upcoming tournaments”.

“Waaaaaah? No Way” Saori chimes in. “We haven’t had a Sensha-Dō team in twenty years! This’ll be great! Ahhhhhh we’re going to have so much fun! I can feel it”.

“Agreed, Sensha-Dō would be the perfect extra-curricular to stay active”. Hana muses.

Miho doesn’t seem to agree…

Operation flirt with Sayori later?
>>
>>4228418

Your conversation with the girls turns away from Sensha-Dō as you walk back to the classroom, the girls discussing a meet up to have bubble tea, something you’ve never tried before. Apparently Saori also managed to make friends with your gunner, no mean feat given how awkward she can get.

“Oh hey, Nishizumi”. A familiar voice rings out, the room going silent as Anzu and the student council walks over. “And Hermann too, glad to see you’re already acquainted. Let’s talk Nishizumi”. The three of them promptly leaving the room with Miho in tow.

“I wonder what that’s about” muses Hana.

Saori responds promptly - “Perhaps they both love the same boy! And the President is challenging Nishizumi for his love aaaah how romantic”.

Somehow you doubt that’s the case.

When Miho enters your doubts are confirmed, you’d heard about the thousand-yard stare before, but this was your first time seeing it. The entire class noticed taking peeks at an absent Miho. Saori and Hana look particularly worried.

The trance continues the rest of the hour until the teacher notices something is obviously wrong. "Something wrong, Nishizumi? Are you OK?" Miho’s only answer is the stare. ”If your ill head to the infirmary Nishizumi.” Only now Miho moves slowly heading for the door

"Teacher! I have stomach pain!" Saori calls, catching the teacher’s attention.

Hana claims a chronic condition.

> Offer to escort them to the infirmary

“Teacher!” You call out as you stand. “Please allow me to escort my friends to the infirmary! I don’t wish for them to be hurt further!” The teacher’s eyes narrow, staring at you as if to scrutinise your intentions. Whatever she finds satisfies her.

“Very well, just hurry back or there will be trouble.” You mutter your thanks and run after the girls.

>ask her if it’s about tanking given, we know what happened with Koume and saw how tense she got when we mentioned it

“It’s about Sensha-Dō right?” Miho stops and turns to face you, her face even more distraught than before. Saori and Hana are silent, likely sensing the mood. “The 62nd National High-School Sensha-Dō tournament, one of your subordinates almost died.” You continue. “And now the student council wants you to tank for Ōoarai”

“Y-yes that’s it” Miho barely manages to murmur. Her legs look weak, but you and Saori manage to steady her before she can fall. “I don’t know if I can do it again…”

“Then don’t Miho, why don’t we pick a different elective, screw the student council!” Saori’s words, crass though they are help. A ghost of a smile appearing on Miho’s face as your little groups slowly starts moving towards the infirmary again.

You reach the door to the infirmary, it’s time for you to return to class, but you manage one last sentence to Miho before the girls disappear into the infirmary.

“I never thanked you Miho,” she turns to you an unwritten question on her face for what? it asks. “Saving Koume, during the finals. She’s a good friend of mine and I don’t know what I would have done if I had lost her. So, thank you Miho.” As you turn to leave you see the first real smile on Miho’s face since the student council visited her.

Hana gives you a smile as Saori escorts Miho into the infirmary. She’s in good hands as far as you’re concerned.

The rest of class is uneventful, returning to maths in Japanese isn’t the most exciting thing but thinking about tankery helps to alleviate some of that boredom. Frankly, you reckon you could take any tank you come up against in the duelling league even if it’s a M-

Your thoughts are interrupted before you can finish that thought. "Attention students. Please gather in the Gym. I repeat, please gather in the Gym.”

You arrive in the gym a few minutes later, and begin searching for a familiar face, you see your crew standing next to the stage, behind the line of public morals committee members.

Anyone know what’s happening? And why are you guys standing here?” you ask.

Extracurriculars and Tankery Fritz! The student council is going to show us and Werewolf off to drum up interest!” Comes the reply from your gunner.
Anzu takes the stage and Momo shouts. “Everyone quiet! You will watch an introduction to our newest elective!”

The film is old, you can tell that much from the grainy nature and old-fashioned title card. What follows is the biggest load of bull you’ve ever heard.

“Senshado, studied by girls across the world to become the best they can be! Practitioners of Senshado will be beautiful like the sound of the iron tracks and have deadly passion like the main cannon.”

Ruby’s head falls into her face, as the rest of your crew struggles to hold in their laughs. You see Miho near the front too, shaking her head and muttering to herself. You hope she’s alright.

The film ends, and the elective sheet is put onto the screen, Sensha-Dō right at the top.

"Next year, the Sensha-Dō World Cup will take place." Momo announces in her usual sharp, authoritative way. "The Ministry of Education has demanded that more girls take up Sensha-Dō!"

"That’s why it’s back after twenty years! You won’t regret it if you pick Sensha-Dō!” Anzu chimes in

Yuzu, who you’d never heard speak before opens up. “Those who take Sensha-Dō will receive two hundred absences, one hundred food coupons and triple credit on other subjects!”

“Wow, you don’t want to miss that” Anzu turns to you and smirks “We’ve even brought some German Sensha-Dō experts! Who’ve brought a tank with them! Now ladies! Presenting Ōoarai’s first tank, commanded by Commander Hermann, WEREWOLF.”

The projector screen rises and Werewolf is sitting on the stage. You brace for the worst.

.

.

.

It’s not that bad actually, you were expecting Werewolf to be bright blue or something but instead it has a little Ōoarai logo on the front, on top of the hull machine-gun. You can also see Werewolf’s been cleaned and a banner saying ‘GO ŌOARAI. WE CAN WIN.’ Is flying over the top

>”Smile and wave boys, smile and wave”

You and your crew wave back to the crowd of schoolgirls, already excited by the video the appearance of 4 male tankers (and Ruby) seems to send them into overdrive, the cheering getting even louder than before. You see some of your new friends in the crowd and make sure to acknowledge them individually. A smile for Yukari, a wink for Miho and a wave for Hana. You’d try get Saori’s attention, but it seems to be squarely on Axel who is steadfastly ignoring it.

“Commander Harmann,” you hear from behind you. You turn and see Anzu addressing you. “Care to join me in my office after this? I think we should discuss the Sensha-Dō club before it starts tomorrow no?”

Seeing no reason to object, you agree “Of course President, lead the way.”

.

.

“Ah, finally behind closed doors, so. Fritz. Let’s get into the details of what’s going to happen. I thought to consult you since you’re our foreign specialist.” A smart choice if you do say so yourself. “Tomorrow the Sensha-Dō club will officially begin, I want you there early. Your tank up and out to give the girls some inspiration! After that we’re goin-“

Anzu is cut off as Miho walks in, Hana and Saori next to her. Miho scans the room and catches your eyes, giving you a small smile before looking to Anzu. Jaw clenched; she takes a deep breath.

The words come out quiet but resolute. “President, I refuse to take the Sensha-Dō elective!”

“Oh? And why not?” The President seems bored all of a sudden, pulling potato chips from somewhere and beginning to munch on them.

Momo shares none of the President’s restrain. “Unacceptable, Nishizumi has to take Sensha-Dō or we are sure to lose.”
Yuzu is no better, looking like a kicked puppy “We're finished!”

“How could you be so selfish? To force a girl into an elective she doesn’t want to do?” Saori is livid “For shame President.” Hana is no better.

"You can't force her!" she says, grabbing Miho’s hand as Saori grabs the other.

“You’re right, I can’t.” Anzu begins, lazily inspecting her nails. “But you won’t be able to come back next year if you don’t.”

You speak up

Tankery/Shensha-do is a Japanese martial sport involving tanks aimed at young girls to groom them to be determined and beautiful women as well as teach them the importance of cooperation and planning. The sport involves a group of WW2 tank crews working together to either knock out all the enemy crews(annihilation ) or a specific flag tank ( I forgot the gamemode name.)

The sport itself is also perfectly safe with hulls being protected by carbon frames and bullets being coated in carbon coating... Perfectly safe.
>>
>>4228746
Think of it like ballet, knitting or Japanese spear fighting but with tanks.

And all perfectly safe.
>>
>>4228749
Carbon coated white phosphorus rounds, high explosive fragmentations and armor piercing shells. Not even doing a wink wink nudge nudge it really is all SOMEHOW perfectly safe.

I think that IFVs the armored cars are for both genders though so the answer is obviously to get. The answer is obviously to get a team made up entirely of armored cars and SPGs! Get both men and women together.

> On second thought you don’t this isn’t your fight. Stay out of it.

You sit back, conflicted. You want to do something, anything to try resolve the tension. You settle for a small smile to try reassuring Miho and a look that you hope says ‘please go easy on her to Anzu’. You hope the message gets through.

Evidently it does not. The volume continues to escalate, Saori looks ready to square up to the council and Yuzu read to cry.

“I’ll do it.” The small voice cuts through the argument like a hot knife through butter. “I’ll join the team.” Her volume rises slightly, fists clenched, looking Anzu in the eyes “I’ll do it for my friends who are standing up for me, despite the risk to themselves!”

You slump back in relief, eyes closed, your crew who had been silent throughout the exchange just as relieved as you are.

“And what a great reason that is Nishizumi~” You can hear the grin on Anzu’s face “Very noble, I look forward to working with you.” Miho and her friends leave the office leaving you and your crew in the office with the student council.

“If you do not have any questions for the President feel free to leave” says Momo, sounding oddly exhausted. “We can continue this discussion another time.”

I really wanna tell Miho about Koume but in canon they only really met after Miho's gone to a better place mentally. Right now she's still dealing with a lot of conflicting thoughts and it might be for the best for her to find her own answers. Realize for her self that what she did was right and find her own school of Tankery.

Questions for the President
>Does werewolf get a budget and if so who do we send our expense invoices too?

“Yes you do Fritz.” Anzu nods, happy to be moving into more familiar territory. “It should be enough to cover ammunition, fuel, paint blah blah blah. Anything more than that you have to find yourself or talk to Momo about finding money in the budget. Make sure you send the invoice to one of us three.”

>What are the tournament rules, and can we have 2 written/typed copies of them?

“Bah, the rules are FAR too long and complicated for me to explain, but I’ll have Momo email your team a copy have fun with that.” She pauses for a second. “Well you are a History nerd so maybe you will!”

>Gained a copy of the Sensha-Dō rules, you can now role History checks to glean information from the rules!

>Why is Miho so important to the team?

“Oh my dear Commander Harmann.” She sighs “You know why, Miho is a Nishizumi, and was vice commander for Black Forest girls last year. Her experience is invaluable

What to do afterwards
>Tell Koume you met Miho and if Koume wants us to tell Miho anything or if she's okay if we mention her to Miho.

You bid the Student Council and your crew fair well as you leave Ōoarai academy, it’s dark now and getting colder. You pull your scarf up slightly to better cover your neck and pull out your phone

<AppleFritz> Met Miho today.

<Akaboss> So she went to Ōoarai? Makes sense given that didn’t have a Sensha-Dō club till now. Did you tell her?

Koume seems more deflated than usual. You know exactly why.

<AppleFritz> I did. The accident left her hesitant to partake in Tankery. Just got out of her arguing with the president about it.

<Akaboss> How horrible! Please tell me when you make a port call so I can come and thank her in person! Do you have any idea what I can get her as a thank you gift?

9th April (Day 3)

You’re up early today, it’s the first day of the Sensha-Dō club and you are excited.

You and your crew are running final checks on Werewolf, all of you eager in anticipation. You aren’t the best in Germany (at the high-school level anyway) for nothing and by god you’re going to prove it.

The plan is for Werewolf to exit the tank garages, and do a round of the small field, to inspire the girls. At least that’s what Anzu’s hoping…

You see the doors open and hear your radio crackle to life, Yuzu’s voice in your ear. “Werewolf you’re clear to go, give them a show.”

Cont.
>>
>>4228880

“Understood.” You were never very verbose will tanking “Max get us moving! Left as we exit the building!

You got it, Boss.” Werewolf roars to life leaving the garage behind. You exit into the light and see twenty or so girls lined up outside, gawking at your tank.

Your lap of the grounds seems to go down well with the girls – All of them excitedly murmuring about the tank, the display and you.

“Alright, everybody!” You hear Anzu shout. “Let’s get straight into it!” The doors to the other garages are flung open. Everybody rushes to have a look.

.

.

.
And they find a single broken-down Panzer IV. Max, the insensitive bastard, bursts out laughing, much to the dismay of the assembled would-be tankers.

“Don’t worry ladies! We just have to find the rest!” Anzu exclaims, somehow managing to stay cheerful despite the less than stellar haul.

“Umm President where are the other tanks?” One brave freshman asks.

“We don’t know! So get looking!” Anzu says, managing to sound chipper despite the situation she found herself in “Chop Chop!”

You and your crew decide to

Indeed, perhaps the second most powerful gun on the team after your own
>>
>>4228942
Probably not unless we can get a sponsor. A big thing with the show is Oorai's blatant lack of funding. The beginning line up is frankly half junk with the type 95 only really being able to stay in the field because of Duck team's literal shonen willpower, pretty much the same with the 38T except student council president super powers.

They had to make due though because they didn't have any other ways to get tanks except to find the basically forgotten wrecks in their school and repair those.

Also tanks are basically their own characters. I think it's for the best you learn to love and trust the Werewolf instead of thinking of replacing him!
>>
>>4228942

Essentially this >>4228967

But the commanders of the other academies have 'obselete' tanks laying around and they all love a good wager. Make of this what you will
>>
>>4228967
>I think it's for the best you learn to love and trust the Werewolf instead of thinking of replacing him!

He's also very upgradable!
>>
>>4228964
Doesn't the Hippo have a slightly longer gun though? Iirc with the designations the Stug 3's barrel is 10 shells longer than the Chi-Nu while both have the same diameter.

Mallard team's got nothing on Hippo though. Those girls are skilled in Combat Tactics, Camouflage, Armor specifications and marksmanship. They're one of the most skilled off crews and unlike Duck they actually have a decent tank.

ngl I wouldn't mind dating a Hippo girl
>>
>>4228978

You are correct, just consulted my notes and Hippo gets the High-Velocity perk whereas Mallard does not, meaning the gun is superior

>>
>>4228948
You allow yourself a laugh, German tankery was usually a serious affair, making moments like this one rare. “Alright guys, and Ruby, we’re surplus to requirement here. You’re dismissed until the rest of the Sensha-Dō club reconvenes. Ruby immediately leaves to tag along with Saori’s group, dragging a reluctant Axel. You wonder if that’s because he dislikes socialisation or the attention he’s getting from Saori. Max and Leo make like cats, rolling out a heat-proof mat on the back of Werewolf and promptly blasting some shitty American rap song or the other.

You make for Momo, you studied history to a high standard and your information gathering was second only to your professor.

“Momo-Senpai” you begin, addressing her politely. “Is it possible to access the archives? I wish to have a look to see if I can find any more tanks.” You say adding a small polite bow.

It seems that was the right course of action, if her beaming smile is anything to go off.

“Of course, you can!” She smiles at you. “Head to the Library and ask for the Sensha-Dō archives. Tell them Momo sent you. Just do one thing for me?” You cock your head at her question, prompting her to continue. “Call me Momo-Senpai one more time.”

“Momo-Senpai?”

“You hear that Yuzu! Momo-Senpai! Not Momo-Chan! Momo! Senpai!” You leave before you can get dragged into an argument.

.

.

.

The library is quiet, you are more or less alone. Following the directions given to you by the librarian you find the Sensha-Dō archives. You pull out the giant tome and plug in your headphones and get to work.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRhg2zvalXc

After an hour of scanning the pages a passage catches your eye

“Chi-Nu tank last used in urban combat manoeuvres, parking lot B 34. After this it went missing.”

Could it be? Another tank? You pick up your phone, punching in the number for the student council. It rings twice before Anzu picks up.

“Commander Hermann? That you? Where are you?” She asks.

“Yes, the library and I’ve found another tank.” You pause for a second before continuing. “Parking lot B 34, a Chi-Nu.”

“Oh? Well done commander, and here I thought you were slacking like the rest of your crew. I’ll send someone to get it, head back to the garages.” She hangs up and you take off for the Sensha-Dō warehouses.

You are greeted by a sight that raises your hopes for Ōoarai ever so slightly. 6 tanks, lined up next to Werewolf, ready to be born anew.

>>4229014
>i presume later will get bonus (negative in this case coz roll under) to our rolls after we get more information ?

Sort of the more you use the skill the greater your modifier. You may even get to the point of auto-successes
Rolling well on History will increase the dc on other types of roll, like the search here. Except in this case, the dc for the Chi-Nu search was already high so it became an auto success

>>4229016
That’s up to you guys, but I doubt it. You’ve not had much chance to talk to the girls recently but that will train after the kiddie wheels come off (the match with Gloriana)
>>
>>4229006
>What do you think of my writing so far?
No complains although I do wish we can spend more time with the girls. I'm sure you want to get us to a fight as quick as possible though but even IC it's a bit jarring we just got here then we're being put to work and now we're practice training. Barely even got time to find out about the school which is alright for me since I watched the show.
>Do you like the history skill mechanic?
I don't mind but I hope we don't just keep locking ourselves in a room looking over papers every downtime.

Personal wishes, I wanna flirt with or at least tease Momo and Saori.
>>
>>4229024
Well, we are effeminate, at least? If we don't have something along those lines from choosing a sport like Tankery, this will be just as god-awful as all those self-insert fanfics where boys stick their ugly mugs into the sport.
>>
>>4229027
Thanks for the honesty! I agree with you on needing more time to talk to the girls. After the training battle Royale tomorrow, you’ll have a lot more time to spend how you see fit, including flirting with any girls you wish to flirt with.

>don't just keep locking ourselves in a room looking over papers every downtime.

Excellent point. I’ll consider a cool down period on the skill of a week or so if this gets to egregious
>>
>>4229016
Out of a sea of best girls you really wanna go after OC Ikeman 1 or OC Ikeman 2? Maybe if this was Jojo with amazing Jojobros or male characters but really man we'd have to actively look for a decent male character everybody will like. And since males usually don't play Tankery they'd be an OC which is an immediate minus for me.
>>
>>4229037
I don't want to go after any of the girls, just play tankery.
>>
>>4229033
I’ve posted a picture of our MC further up in the thread.

I get your complaint about ruining Tankery and don’t worry, the majority of the Tankers you come across in Japan feel the same way you do. Ōoarai just doesn’t have a choice
>>
>>4229039
I’m also anxious to get to Tankery, but knowing 4chan regardless of our gender we’d probably end up dating someone.
>>
>>4229045
I don't wanna waste time on dating when we could be practicing taaanks!
>>
>>4229039
I honestly wouldn't mind that but there's gonna be alot of downtime/bonding. Preferably we pick a girl early so it doesn't turn into a waifu war or saltfest later. GuP is like 50% slice of life though so comedic interactions like suggesting to Saori instead of boyfriends some girls might be dating other girls or bullying Momo as hard as everybody else in the student council because she really doesn't deserve that confidence will probably be par for the course.

>>4229043
I think he just really wants to have a trap protagonist. Iirc he's been saying how or somebody else went on praising this quest for having an effeminate gay protagonist.
>>
>>4229046
You can't just lone wolf it. Tankery is a team sport, it involves working together towards a common goal and a shared passion. The dint of combat forges incredible bonds of friendship on both sides and the sacrifices each crew makes to see their team to victory hardens it even more.

There's a good chance something else sprouts from the friendship. There's even a good chance something else will sprout from any rivalries we make. This is a sport usually filled with respect and awe for both teams involve, add to the fact they're all cute girls and it'd be hard for /qst to resist when the time comes.
>>
>>4229054
Yeah, but we don't have time for dates with Oarai's season coming up.
>>
>>4229055
Depends on what you mean by dates, even in the show they had downtime after every match. It's not like everybody's always practicing all the time.

Plus if everybody votes to abuse the history skill we might still spend a lot of time with the History club girls(Hippo) or Yukari. All of whom love tanks and information. Yukari straight up secret agent infiltrates other schools to learn more information.

Ohh Duck gets a slightly upgraded tank? It's kinda sad to see them change tanks but then again they haven't gotten that attached to the type 95 and the type 89 still seems like shit.
>>
>>4229607

Sorry, I may not have made it clear. To clarify our conversation yesterday on acquiring tanks yesterday:

Duck team still has the type 89 they get originally for now, and in the coming update, you'll see Anzu draft what becomes anteater team into the fold so the Chi-Nu is ready for St. Gloriana

Regarding the wagering I mentioned: The commanders of other schools are eager to see whether your crew and tank are worth giving the time of day and the best way to see that is some kind of tankery competition. The majority of commanders are open to a wager of some kind on those competitions. An opportunity to acquire new tanks or rare upgrades like that MG 131

I will begin writing today's first update in about 20 minutes.
>>
>>4229614

“A Type-89 medium tank; a Panzer 38(t) light tank; an M3 Lee medium tank; a Panzer III Ausf. F. with an assault gun; a Panzer IV Ausf. D and a Chi-Nu medium tank.” You arrive in time to hear Momo say, scratching her head. “How shall we divide them?”

“How about they just take the one they found? We’ll take the 38t.” Comes Anzu, answering as if it’s the most obvious thing in the world.

“Right!” Comes Momo’s response. “Listen up ladies, your assignments are as follows.”

>Panzer IV – Team A – Nishizumi, Takebe, Akiyama and Isuzu
>Type-89 – Team B – The Volleyball club
>StuG III – Team C – The History Club
>M3 Lee – Team D – The Freshmen
>38t – Team E – Student Council

“We’ll have to find more tankers for the Chi-Nu.” Momo mutters before turning to you. “Hermann your tank will be Team W, for Werewolf.” She says with a little smile

>That’s fine
>Actually, I’d like to be… (Write-in)

“Our instructor arrives tomorrow afternoon, make sure you behave appropriately and get your tank clean by the end of today! Understood!”

“Yes Momo!” Comes the response from the other female soon to be tankers present.

You see the girls disperse into their teams, Erwin reprimands the other club members for insulting the Finnish somehow and the Freshmen girls oh-ing and ah-ing over their tank having two guns.

The girls leave to change into clothes more suitable for the wetwork they’re going to be doing. You resolve yourself and decide to help as many of them as you can.

Grabbing a tracksuit from one of Werewolf’s storage bins you head to a bathroom to change. Thankfully being a school Ōoarai is still required to have a male toilet. Somewhere…

> Help Miho and your other new friends

“Hey!” You look over to the Panzer IV where Miho’s shout came from and see Saori absolutely drenching her friends with the hose

“Saori… It’s too cold.” You here Hana moan. You sigh to yourself and grab a brush, starting your wet, soapy work with the rear engine deck.

“Hey Yukari, Girls.” You address your first friend. “Mind if I help you out?”

Miho smiles at you and gives a tiny bow of thanks. “Of course not Fritz. Thank you for helping.” The rest of the girls joining Miho in giving their thanks. You smile and get to work.

You eventually find yourself alone with Miho, cleaning the inside of the Panzer IV. Miho is steadfastly working on removing the grime from the driver’s seat. You are steadfastly ignoring the way she is bent over, focusing on cleaning the gun breech.

“Hey Miho,” You start, waiting for her to turn around. “Are you really alright with doing Sensha-Dō again? I heard the argument and I know you took last year’s final pretty hard. If you really don’t want to be here I can talk to Anzu about it…” You trail off seeing the small smile on her face.

“No.” She begins, a quiet wistful look on her face. “Thank you for asking, I’m glad I could make a friend who cares so much in so little time.” Her smile grows. “But if I leave now then I’m abandoning my friends who fought so hard for me and I could never do that.” Her smile is beaming now. It’s infectious and you find yourself smiling as well.”

>Help the History Club

You leave the Panzer IV after your talk with Miho and head over to the History club. You’d been meaning to talk to the History club for a while given your shared love of the subject.

“Cross the Rubicon!” Goes one.

“Tanks and Water, reminds me of Normandy’s DD tanks.” The one you know is Erwin says with a reminiscent sigh she has no right to make.

“I’d say tank cleaning is going more like Dieppe than Normandy at this point.” You remark with a wry grin as you approach their tank, bucket in hand. “Need another hand? One history nerd to another?”

Erwin stares at you, eyes burrowed, judging your intentions. Whatever her verdict she approves, breaking out into a smile. “Any historian is welcome here! No matter their speciality or Gender.”

“THAT’S RIGHT!” The rest of the History club exclaim as you get to work.

Working with the History Club is quite frankly fun. Full of historical jokes and little tibbits from the various eccentric personalities that compose it. Erwin even lets you borrow her hat!

“Hermann,” Ceasar says, looking at you deadly serious just as you jump off the StuG. “I think I speak for the entire club when I say we enjoyed your company.”

“That’s right!” The rest chorus. Caesar continues

“You need a soul name to be part of the History Club! Any ideas?”

Ah, you think. It suddenly makes sense why Japanese schoolgirls are named after historical figures.

> Help the Student Counc- well Yuzu

The History club unanimously approves your choice as you walk away, promising to meet with them again soon. You move further down the line, and see poor Yuzu trying to clean the 38t by herself (in her underwear?). Anzu god knows where and Momo ordering Yuzu around.

You sigh and head over. “Yuzu? You need some help?” You ask, readying your bucket and brush. The smile she gives is nothing short of elated.

Please,” She says, huffing from the effort of trying to clean a tank by herself. “Momo and Anzu are no help and I forgot my gym clothes! You’re a sight for sore eyes, Fritz.”

“No Problem,” You smile and shrug off your tracksuit top, handing it to Yuzu so she has a little more insulation from the rapidly declining temperature as the sun begins to set. “Let’s get moving Yuzu, I want to be done before it gets too cold.”

Between the two of you, you manage to finish the cleaning only slightly after everyone else does.

“Oh thank you, Fritz!” Yuzu exclaims, tired but beaming. “I could never have done it without you!” She continues, giving you a quick hug and a peck on the cheek. “Let me wash this top before I give it back.”

Before you can respond, Momo speaks up. “Well done, we’ll get the automotive club to do the rest of the maintenance tonight. You are all dismissed.

It's probably a technical foul (or whatever they would call them in sensha-do) to knowingly fire on an unbuttoned commander using a machine gun, for safety reasons.
>>
>>4229899
Nope, there've been multiple instances of commander taking MG fire while unbuttoned. There've been multiple instances of commanders taking CANNON fire while unbuttoned. Hell there have even been instances of tanks getting blown away at angles that would break the entire crew's bones.

It's all perfectly safe though don't worry about it, they turn the 38T into a Hetzer by just putting a new turret on it, a Churchill can keep up with a Tokyo Drifting P4. There's some liberties in physics.

Have an idea for a rival schoolship: The very first school ship made for international relations between Japan and the Dutch, used to be known as Dejima, but got renamed to Dyke Academy for Girls and their tanker team are known as the Dutch Wives.

Their rivals are Blue Division over what has come to be known as "The Windmill Incident" and they use flood attacks in their matches.

“Hey, Yukari!” You call, weaving your way through the huddled schoolgirls “Wait up!” She turns, and you see her eyes light up.

“Hermann!” She exclaims, throwing her arms in the air. “It’s great to see you again! What’s up?”

“You mentioned a tank shop earlier, I was wondering if you could give me directions.” You ask her.

“I can do you one better,” She smirks. “The rest of team A and I are heading there on the way home, why don’t you come with us?”

“That sounds great,” You say, “Meet you in front of the school?” She nods in response, and you split off in order to get changed.

.

.

.

You meet Yukari and the rest of Team A by the gates and begin walking with them to towards the tank shop.

“I wonder which way the ship is headed.” You hear Miho say. “It can hard to tell sometimes…”

“I hope it’s towards a port,” Saori butts in, “I need to go shopping at a proper mall and have boyfriends to see. I have one in every port on the east coast of Japan you know!”

“I’ll believe it when I see it.” You and Hana say in unison. You turn to each other and share a small smile, before continuing your journey don’t the street. Saori spluttering excuses behind you.

You arrive at the tank club. “This is amazing…” Hana sums it up pretty succinctly.

Saori doesn’t seem to agree, “They all look the same,” she grumbles setting off Yukari.

“That’s not true! They all have different personalities! And change depending on who drives them!” Nodding along with Yukari you peruse the shelves and decide to buy

>A book with pictures of skirts, up skirts, and down skirts, all so we can determine which would be best for the tanks.
>Rolled 17 = Failure

You ask the shop keeper about any side skirts he may have available or if he knows how to go about acquiring any for your tank. Unfortunately, he doesn’t and has no idea where to get them.

>Non-standard ammunition, aiming devices, other nicknacks
>Rolled 9 (Standard Success)
>Rolled 3 (High success)
>Rolled 1 (Critical Success)

The shopkeeper’s smile goes the wrong side of deranged as he takes a quick glance around the shop. Seeing no one but the members of Team A he leans over the counter to talk to you.

“Yer in luck kiddo, I have just the thing for you. Say you’re that German kid with the Panther II, right? Werewolf?” You nod your confirmation “Excellent, have a look at this.” He says as he shoves a catalogue under your nose. You have a look at what’s available:

>Suped-Up High explosive ammunition - No high explosive penetration reduction, double damage on penetration (2HP instead of 1) you can carry 5
>High Velocity armour piercing - +1 to accuracy dc, penetration auto success you can carry 5
>Smoke shells - All shots fired by enemy tank aimed at miss for 1 turn you can carry 5
>Smoke grenade launcher – free use - targets marked by smoke have a +3 to dc for allies to fire at them or enemy accuracy dc halved if used on yourself
> Infrared and Telescopic rangefinder – accuracy dc permanently increased by 1, penetrations crit on 1-3 instead of only 1
>MG 131 – free use once every 3 turns you can force a composure check on an enemy target (any range apart from ultra-long range)
The shopkeeper offers to sponsor you, if you let him stick a decal on the side of your turret

Not to mention the fact limiting your craft and your potential because you think somebody won't like you is dumb. We love tankery, we love what we're doing and we should do what we can to be the best sportsman we can be instead of being afraid of what other people think if their opinion is obviously dumb like which ever purist QM is talking about.
>>
>>4230342
Honor's a pretty weird concept in GuP world huh. If honor was everything then both teams would agree to field the same number of tanks at least instead of having giant number and quality discrepancies like Ooarai's hodge bodge versus Black Forests' fleet of Tiger Is, Jagpanthers and a MAUS that couldn't be penned except for the sky facing engine.

>Gained Infrared and Telescopic rangefinder – accuracy dc permanently increased by 1, penetrations crit on 1-3 instead of only 1
>Gained Takumi’s Tank Club sponsorship – can roll after a victory for more upgrades
>Gained Ōoarai notorious – TTC is well known in Ōoarai, winning dramatically increases the amount of fame and funding Ōoarai academy has and increases your personal reputation in the city
>Gained Man or money? – Fritz is conflicted about accepting sponsorship, roll 1d100 Bo1 at the beginning of a battle if more than 95 is rolled, bonuses of sponsorship gear is negated, some Tankery practitioners look down on sponsorship and will start off disliking you
>Gained German tanker cap – Black Forest Peak tankers will start off neutral to you at minimum

You are conflicted. On the one hand, you know that you’re gonna need every advantage you can get to win given Ōoarai’s Tankery club being in such a sorry state. On the other, it feels dishonourable to bring money into a sport Germans consider to be the epitome of virtue. In the end, pragmatism and fact most teams accept sponsorship anyway win out and you take the deal.

Leaving the shop owner behind, you head over to the girls. Miho looks sad. You look around the room and see her sister, Maho, being interviewed about Kuromuromine’s Sensha-Dō victories. It doesn’t take you long to put two and two together.

“I know! Let’s hang out at yours Miho!” She exclaims cheerfully, confusing Miho out of her mood. Hana jumps onto Saori’s idea.

“That’s wonderful! I’d love to come to!” Hana says with a smile.

“Great! Akiyama, Fritz. Why don’t you come as well! Let’s get some cooking supplies! It’’ll be great.” You smirk at the mention of cooking and nod your agreement. You have an idea about how to cheer Miho up.

.

“It’s kind of messy but come in,” Miho leads you into her room, and begins cleaning up some odd bits and pieces. You take a look around and see a lot of stuffed bears. A lot.

“Hana, peel the potatoes for me,” Saori’s in her element and it is reflected in her voice.

“I’ll cook the rice!” Yukari says as she begins unpacking a mess set. Her preparedness impresses you.

“AH,” you hear from the kitchen. “It seems I’ve cut myself…”

Miho begins to scramble around looking for bandages and you hear Saori sigh “Fritz,” she begins “I hope you’re not as useless as the rest of the girls are.” She sounds resigned. Your smile surprises her.

“You handle dinner Saori,” you say, getting started on your contribution. “I’ll handle dessert…”

Saori’s dinner is great, perhaps the best Japanese food you’ve ever tasted. The rest of the girls seem to agree, digging in with gusto you wouldn’t expect.

“Wow, Saori! This is delicious!” Miho exclaims before going straight back to destroying her plate.

“Beef stew is the best dish for seducing a man you know! ~” She says smiling smugly. Hana doesn’t seem to buy it and turns to you.

“Well, Hermann? Is it the best dish?” Four sets of eyes turn to you expectantly.

> “It is.” Said completely deadpan, as German as you can muster. In Japanese, monotone "Aishite imasu" to Saori.

“It is.” You say completely deadpan as you turn to Saori. “Aishite imasu Saori-chan.”

You don’t know whether it’s the delivery, the words or the familiarity suggested by the nickname but she falls for it. Hook, line and sinker. Saori immediately goes red, glasses steamed up, furiously fanning herself with her hand.

“Fritz,” she starts, refusing to look you in the eyes “you shouldn’t say such things to a maiden! Not until you at least by her dinner first!”

“But I did dear Saori,” You say, somehow managing to contain your smirk as you walk past her and carefully grab the tray from the oven. “Or at least I made you dessert.” You set it down on the table and lift the foil. “Voila.” The room is silent.

Yukari is the first one to speak. “Apple Fritters?” Your smirk grows, unable to be contained.

“Yep.” You know they can hear the smile in your voice.

The girls, apart from Saori who stays red, burst out laughing but you can live with the embarrassment. Especially when it means Miho forgets all about that interview...

The perks you acquired from the Tank Club such as the range finder don’t go into effect until after this match

You can’t sleep that night. The excitement getting to you. You finally. Finally get to start tanking again. You barely stop yourself from sprinting to school as soon as it hits a reasonable hour.

Your instructor is late. So is Miho too for that matter, but that mystery is solved when she arrives in a run, taking her spot next to the rest of her crew. Suddenly, you hear a rumble overhead. A large transport plane buzzing the parking lot you’re waiting in. It drops a tank.

.

.

.

That takes you a minute to process, and you’re not sure how to feel. Your gunner does.

“That was so cool!” She exclaims and it seems like the rest of the girls agree. Murmuring excitedly as the tank crushes the principal’s Ferrari. You hope he’s insured.

The tank looks modern, way too modern to be used in Sensha-Dō you muse as it pulls up in front of you and a tall Japanese woman hops out the top.

“Hi there,” she says as she hops down, and heads to the garages where the student council is standing. You move to the left of them, this instructor is here for the girls but you’ll listen out of respect

>>
>>4230746

“This is special training instructor Ami Chono,” Momo introduces before Chono talks herself.

“Nice to meet you all, I heard there are a lot of people here doing Sensha-Dō for the first time but let’s do the best we can.”

“Wait, aren’t you the daughter of instructor Nishizumi?” She asks Miho “Is your sister doing well?” Miho is taken aback for a second before she replies.

“Yes…” Chono goes on to explain the Nishizumi style and its history to the girls, but you already know and tune it out till she walks over to you.

“And you must be Commander Hermann, I’ve heard a lot about you,” she says. “A pleasure to finally make your acquaintance.”

Before you can reply she turns back to the crowd of schoolgirls. “Let’s start with a practice battle girls! There’s no better way to learn the basics!”

The girls burst into commotion, talking nervously among themselves.

“Here’s your maps ladies, head to your starting points and we’ll begin!”

The girls enter the garage, while they’re working on figuring out their tanks instructor Chono approaches you.

“So, Commander Hermann,” she begins. “What’s your plan?”

You decide to

Assume Team W is speaking German among themselves

You decide to hole up, by the fork in the road you were deployed by, from there you could see any approaching tanks and get the jump on them if they continue up the road.

You hear something over Werewolf’s idling engine and begin scanning the horizon. You see Erwin’s StuG, trundling up the road. You immediately call out the target to your gunner.

“Ruby! Contact! 2 O’clock, range 200 meters!” You nudge the turret using your manual control into the general direction and let go when Ruby takes control, fine-tuning the shot.

“Target sighted, awaiting fire permission.” Comes the calm reply of your gunner, ever the professional. You watch with a small smile as Erwin positions her assault gun in a position to ambush you as you come down the road. From that angle, she could hit your far more vulnerable sides and rear. Having seen enough you give the order.

“Fire when ready.” The 88mm shell rockets out the barrel with a mighty crack and an explosion, 10 kilograms of death heading towards the hapless StuG.

It hits with a mighty THUMP, the force of the impact lifting the front of the StuG slightly. To their credit, they react quickly and their gunner knows her stuff. The return snapshot shooting towards you almost instantly.

It bounces off Werewolf’s front plate. You allow yourself a small smile.

“Axel! AP now! Ruby fire when ready! Max…

>Advance!” Advancing now will scare the living daylights out of the newbie tankers and might ruin their aim
>be ready to move!” Their gun is best at range but yours is better, teach them to fear the 88

be ready to move!” Their gun is best at range but yours is better, teach them to fear the 88.

You don’t see the StuG’s second shot, but you certainly hear it as it screams past you head and you definitely feel it, your bones vibrating as the displaced wind buffets you.

“Firing,” your gunner says calmly. She swears less calmly when her shot goes wide, barely scrapping the StuG as it whistles on into the woods.

You take stock of your position, your gun is better, no denying that but the 75-millimetre gun on the StuG can do a lot of damage under the right conditions… Like if they get a still target and a good firing position.

“Leo AP now!” You bark, your loader diligently scrambling to get your eighty-eight loaded

> ”Max get moving! Flank using the road!” You need to force the Stug to move, to throw off their aim.

For a large tank, the Panther can move fast and your driver is the best in the business. Werewolf suddenly moves, a walk, a jog, a run and all of a sudden, you’re on the road, barrelling parallel to the StuG in the forest.

You rotate your turret to the right, guiding Ruby in the general direction of the StuG before she instinctively takes over control to fine-tune her shot. The StuG is struggling to keep up the turn. It hits a tree and is unable to turn in time to stop you from firing.

“Firing.” Max barely stop for a second before Ruby unleashes Werewolf’s main gun on the StuG. It stands no chance.

You’re rewarded with a solid TWANG as the shell auto-detonates on the safety lining and a small white flag pops out the top.

With a small salute to a dishevelled Erwin climbing out the top you turn the turret forward and have another look at the map.

You decide to:
>Head down the road. Miho deployed by the next fork in the road. If you can take her out ther is no other tanker of your calibre left
>Head through the forest and cross the river to the right. The 38t and the Lee were deployed there. Easy pickings
>Cut through the forest to the left. Werewolf is hungry, and there are three tanks to feast on to that way.

Part of why, as much as War Thunder's grind is worse, I prefer it. Its damage system is still arbitrary in arcade battles, but at least it's not the stupid fucking hitpoint system WoT uses.
>>
>>4231190
In the future, for special loads can we specify where we want to aim, or will that also be left up to the dice? Different types of shot have different places and angles that they accel at damaging, so leaving it totally up to dice could result in a failure to or less successful penetration/damage despite having good acc and pen rolls from the 4d20.

As you rumble through the forest your Radioman speaks up for the first time this match.

“Fritz, news from Chono,” He begins. “The Lee and the 38t knocked each other out, and Nishizumi has knocked out the Type-89”.

“Thank you, Leo, keep me informed.” This means you were right to cut through the forest. With any luck, you should run into Miho or the Chi-Nu instead of wasting your time as you would have if you went right.

“Max! Full Stop!” You call as you near the edge of the forest. Taking your binoculars you look across the road at the clearing on the other side and see the Chi-Nu, struggling to move.

“Contact 12 O’clock, 300 meters!” You call. “Fire when ready!”

“Firing.” Comes Ruby’s duo-syllable reply.

Werewolf’s gun sings, 1000 meters a second streak across the sky. You nail the Chi-Nu clean through the front, the little white flag popping out the top.

They manage a lucky shot, however, and to their credit, it hits your front plate but stripped of all momentum, it bounces off and lands next to your track.

“Contact eliminated.” You inform your gunner. “Axel, AP! Now! Max…

>Through the forest, we ford the river.” She won’t be expecting this, and Werewolf knows fear.

It seems, for the third time today, you made the right choice tactically. As you move through the forest, you catch a glance of Nishizumi’s position through the trees. She’s chosen it well, she gets a clear line of sight if you were to choose to come barrelling down the road and her rear is covered, meaning if you’d come through the clearing, she would’ve been able to reposition. However, like the French during World War 2, she didn’t think you crazy enough to go through the forest. Much less ford a river to do so.

You enter the river with a SLAM, water washing past Warewolf’s sides as he wades through the water, growling like his namesake. You pause in the middle of the River.

“Max full stop! Ruby! Target 11 O’clock 200 meters!” It takes 4 seconds. Three to aim, 1 for the shell to travel.

It slams into the side of the Panzer IV, rocking the tank side to side and throwing Miho around. Their return shot goes wide, the 75mm Howitzer nowhere near as accurate as your eighty-eight.

> ”Axel! AP! Ruby! Fire at will!” Finish them off from a distance where their howitzer is useless

You both move at the same time. There is no way that Hana is still driving the Panzer IV like at the beginning of the day. The driver manages to twist the front of the tank to face you impossibly fast. Their howitzer lobbing a shell through the air towards you.

Ruby fires a split second after their gunner, your gun firing straight and true a rapid bark and a puff of smoke the only evidence the round ever existed. That and how it hits the Panzer IV head on and knocks it over. Oops.

The 75 Millimetre howitzer shell impacts a second later. It hits just under your gun, the conical shape of the mantle deflecting the deflecting all but the heat of the explosion from you. A small white flag pops out the bottom of the Panzer IV. 6 shots and 3 kills, not bad if you say so yourself.

“Good job gentlemen,” you rumble over the intercom. “Let’s go help Nishizumi out.”

With that the baying of Werewolf’s engine increases as you slowly trundle forward.

> Was the combat writing good? Would you prefer all updates to be fast like this or do you like the meatier chunks during social bits of the thread
> Would you change anything about the combat system?
> Did you feel too strong? Or do you think Ōoarai is too weak right now?

I’ll be on for about half an hour to answer any questions.
>>
>>4231350
Combat was good, meaningful decisions and speedy. Dialogue is fine as well. If anything, the sheer amount of dice is my only gripe. Just isn't aesthetically pleasing.

Dice, as I said. Not actually important.

Tactical competency and overwhelming equipment advantage will do that to you. If anything, it bothers me that the long 88 wasn't killing faster. But I don't watch this show, I just like armor. Maybe there's a lore reason for it.
>>
>>4231357
Glad to hear you enjoyed the ride.

Realistically, it should have been killing everything in one hit but for balance reasons it will usually take 2 or so
>>
>>4231350
>> Did you feel too strong? Or do you think Ōoarai is too weak right now?
I mean objectively speaking Ōoarai's equipment throughout the entire series is pretty trash compared to the big schools so ofc our Panther is going to feel like a big fish in a small pond. Unless we start breaking away from purely show stuff and decide to start standardising our tanks.
>>
>>4231350
>Combat
Feels like a pretty good speed, and the writing is fine, might suggest typing things out in a text editor first and doing a quick check for grammar before posting. This probably isn't a very good time to ask about the combat system, since we already know Ōoarai is supposed to be weak, and we are just better than them, we might need some more combat training situations to figure it out.
>Meatier chunks
Highly suggest writing out all of your update at once in a text editor before posting; it leads to less delay between posts and can read smoother.
>>
>>4231366
Yes, this is true. I don’t think I’ll stray too far from the show but I think opportunities to upgrade some of Ooarai’s shitter tanks wouldn’t go amiss
>>
>>4231367
You raise a good point. I was considering nerfing you guys slightly after this curbstomp but I think I’ll hold off on that until after the Gloriana and Maginot training matches at the very least

>text editor
Do you have any suggestions on good ones?
>>
>>4231350
>Was the combat writing good? Would you prefer all updates to be fast like this or do you like the meatier chunks during social bits of the thread
tbf I prefer the combat text to be fast, unless it's a special battle or something else happens
> Would you change anything about the combat system?
don't have experience to suggest something like that
> Did you feel too strong? Or do you think Ōoarai is too weak right now?
well, it makes sense they're weak now and most of their tanks are light anyway. I'd say the balance it's good for this initial match
>>
>>4231368
Yeah obviously we're not going to get a Maus or something but some upgrades would be good (I'm looking at you Mark IV)
>>4231370
To me so far most of the issues seem to be dice dependent; like there were really a whole load of 20s being thrown about this skirmish. So yeah let's do the other matches first and see how it goes.
>>
>>4231357
+1 regarding the dice, everything is cool questwise but I don't want to have to wade through 10 rolls to see if we did a good
>>
>>4231076
Or you're lurking undetected in an alleyway or side street to get a clean sideshot from point blank.
>>
>>4231368
Get them out of that Lee and into something a bit beefier. Maybe Kay has an M6 Heavy she could be persuaded to part with? They never got out of trials, but they ARE a war-era model, and 40 were built.
>>
>>4231412
Because while the M3s, both Lee and Grant performed admirably in the desert, they're really just a strictly inferior proto-Sherman, a stopgap measure meant to get a long barreled 75mm into the field as fast as possible.
>>
>>4231413
M3s aren't a heavy tank though. Thematically a standard Sherman should be more appropriate.
Also the Type 89 needs to go, it's literally a late 1920s tank.
>>
>>4231423
True, but 6 is 2 too many for a Sherman, but exactly the crew size of an M6, so they can upgrade without benching 2 members.
>>
>>4231430
Correction, 1 too many. I forgot the Sherman still had an "assistant driver" for a second there.
>>
>>4231432
Plus its armament (a 76mm and a 37mm) is similar to what the Lee fields, albeit without the independent targeting the casemate-and-turret setup allows.
>>
>>4231423
Agreed about the Type 89, though.
That thing is an abomination.
>>
>>4231370
It depends on what OS you have, but notepad++ is pretty good for really any type of Windows. I use GNU Emacs, though I wouldn't suggest it if you don't like programming.
>>
>>4231370
You could also have the other schools escalate in response and start bringing their own "ringer" tanks to deal with us, once word of Werewolf's existence gets out.
>>
>>4231448
Our Panther II isn't really that exceptional anyways when you look at the top schools.
>>

Going to start today with some of my thoughts on combat
> All tanks are now going to have 2 HP, this is to stop matches getting too long when we get to the 10 tanks + stage. You will get some Toughness roll offs to compensate.
> Howitzer/SB accuracy debuff will be removed but the penetration debuff will stay
>Going to increase how fast crew rating increases at early levels so Ōoarai stands more of a chance I still don’t expect you to beat Gloriana though
> Considering scrapping the mobility roll to be replaced by narrative choices.

Anyways, onto the update. There will be fewer and they will be slower today. Running for 12 hours yesterday was tiring.

Just as you knock the Panzer IV out, you hear your radioman on the horn.

"Commander, Chono calling all teams," He begins. "The exercise is over, we are to return to the yard for a debrief."

You consider the new orders, as your gaze falls to the Panzer IV crew examining their upside down tank."Max," you start. "Let's...

You roll over to where Miho and her crew are examining their tank. It's then you spot a girl sleeping, propped against the inverted Panzer. Your eyes narrow as you count the number of schoolgirls. Five. They left with four. You decide not to give it too much thought.

"Ladies." You call out to them as Werewolf approaches. "Need a lift?"

Yukari is first to answer. "Oh yes please!" She cries as she expertly scrambles up the tank, climbing into the jumpseat she used last time. "Ready Commander Hermann!". You chuckle at her enthusiasm and watch as Saori and Hana lift their sleeping comrade onto the front of the tank, the three of them taking positions by the gun mantle.

Miho easily climbs the tank as you'd expect of a Nishizumi taking a spot next to your cupola. Seeing all the garupans are aboard you give the order. "Max, advance!"

"So who's sleeping beauty?" You ask Miho as you cruise towards the Sensha-Dō warehouses. "Last minute recruit?" Miho smiles and blushes. "Well... we almost ran her over and it was safer inside the tank than to leave her out there. She turned out to be a pretty good driver too!"

"Sure she won't fall asleep at the wheel?" You ask with a smile. The look on Miho's face says she isn't so sure.

You arrive at the garages and survey the assembled tankers standing before instructor Chono.

“All of you did a good job! Very nice! I couldn’t ask for more from newbies!” She turns to you. “And well done Team W, you really showed what a great Tanker looks like!” You accept the praise with a small smile, your crew saying their thanks as Chono continues. “All you need to do now is practice moving and firing every day! If there’s something else you need to know just send me an email!”

You do a double-take as she calls for a bow. Is she done instructing them?

.

.

.

Your crew disperses, the other tankers doing similar. You make to do the same but before you can you hear your name.

“Commander Hermann! Over here!” You turn and see Yuzu coming towards you, your tracksuit top in hand. “Thank you for lending me your top. I’ve washed it for you!” She hands you the tracksuit and scurries off before you can say anything in return.

You stuff the top into your bag, and see a small slip of paper fall out. You pick it up and read it.

Thank you for helping me clean the panzer. – Yuzu it reads, with a phone number at the bottom.

You head back to your apartment and after a shower, you’re sitting in your kitchen, wondering what to do with the evening.

>Call Yuzu & ask if she wants to go for a ride around town to show us around

Just a note fellas, this doesn’t lock you into anything. At this point Yuzu considers you a friend along the lines of how Saori, Yukari and Miho see you. She was particularly impressed with your kindness in helping her and some of the other teams with their tanks. This can change if you want it to though

You take a deep breath and call the number on the card, hoping its actually Yuzu and not some kind of prank. It rings twice before someone picks up.

“Hello?” It’s Yuzu, you breathe a sigh of relief. But the easy bit is over, you were never very suave.

“Hi Yuzu, it’s me,” You decide to start slow. “I just wanted to say thanks for returning my jacket.”

“Hi Fritz! Don’t worry ‘bout it,” you can hear the smile in her voice. “If anything, I should be thanking you!”

“Ah, no problem Yuzu, I could never leave a lady in distress like that,” it’s barely out of your mouth before you start kicking yourself, her giggling on the other end not helping your ego. You decide to just dive in before you die of embarrassment.

“Anyways,” you clear your throat. “I’ve been meaning to take my bike for a spin and I thought why not invite someone along while I explore the ship?"

"And you thought of me?"

"I did." She's silent for a second before she speaks again.

"That sounds wonderful," she says softly. "Be at mine in half an hour."

.

.

.

You pick Yuzu up from the front of her apartment block, your bike humming underneath you as she approaches. "Hey Fritz," you hear as she smiles at you. You say hello back and toss her a helmet as she climbs on the bike behind you.

You spend the next couple hours zipping across the carrier, you end up going up and down the length several times at high speeds Yuzu hanging on to you for dear life and screaming in joy at the same time. You think she'd be used to it given she drives such a fast tank but you chalk it up to the mysteries of women and leave it at that.

You end up at the edge of the carrier, leaning on the railings separating you from the sea with some fizzy drink from a nearby vending machine Yuzu next to you.

She looks troubled, staring hard at the setting sun, deaf to the world around her. She suddenly turns to you.

"Hey Fritz," she says, continuing when you make eye contact. "Do you... do you think Ōoarai can win? Like any of the tournaments, the duelling league or the national championship? We could right?" Her questioning sounds desperate for some reason.

>Fritz is uncertain that Ōoarai would win but can see the potential

You suck in air at that question. You can see how distressed Yuzu is at the possibility of losing. Surely, she should know it’s next to impossible for a team like yours to win. You consider your next words carefully.

“It would be difficult. To put it mildy.” You say, stroking your chin as you talk. “Ōoarai is weak right now… we have some potential – I read the after-action report of yesterday’s practice match and I can see lots of it. Erwin’s team are smart and know how to use their tank; Miho is some sort of prodigy and you were not bad behind the wheel yourself- “she blushes at that, “but I don’t know if that potential will come out before the tournament.” You sigh, rubbing your head. “but there’s problems too – our tanks are old; the freshmen lose their composure too fast and Momo can’t shoot for shit.”

“But that’s why you’re here right?” She asks, her voice barely a whisper. “To help us find that potential…”

“That’s why I’m here,” you echo. “And I’ll do my damnedest to bring home a victory.”

“Thank you…” you hear but only barely. You’re barely 18 but you already feel too old for this shit.

“C’mon, let’s get you home.”

You are FRITZ HERMANN, ace tanker, commander of the Panther II Werewolf and all-around badass if you do say so yourself. As you sit at the starting point, ready to throw down against the uppity Pershing commander who

>Reminds you of your little sister
>Is very good at getting on your nerves
>You don’t really care about

You reflect on what led you here.

----

It happened on the way back from France, after a pleasant week stomping French tankery teams, you stopped close to the border on the way back to Munster for a little R&R. That’s where she found you.

“Fritz Hermann!” A voice behind you screeches. You turn around and lock eyes with a kid, who can’t be more than fourteen, she sees you and stomps forward till she’s right in front of you. She barely reaches your chest.

“Mount up Buckaroo! I’m about to go all Cologne cathedral on your ass!” She boasts. “My Pershing is undefeated so far and you’re going to be my 16th win!” You’d normally be hesitant to fight a little girl, but you can’t let an insult to Werewolf go like that. It'd also feel really good to burst the kid's bubble.

A vicious, almost malicious grin on your face you accept and start unloading Werewolf, you have work to do.

You both have 3 HP, this is an encounter battle so you win if you can hold the cap for 4 turns. It takes about 2 turns to reach the cap from your deployment point (green side)

You look down at the map of the Tankery field based on the Siegfried line and consider how to approach this battle.

> Hide by the lake, you have an okay line of sight into the cap and can interrupt her win.

“Max! Move right!” You bark, your gunner moving as soon as the whistle is blown. You decide to head for the lake, over the western plains. You have no doubt you would’ve dominated the Pershing commander IF she went west, but the Cap is in the town to the east and that is where the battle will be won.

Your driver pulls Werewolf to a stop by a little building next to the lake. It covers most of Werewolf’s bulk and you get a good view into the Cap. You wait.

And wait.

Finally, you spot movement, on the far end of the town you spot a big, ugly, US Army star. The perfect target for your gunner.

“Contact, One O’clock, Five hundred meters,” You say, almost sedated. You are calm, hunter instincts keeping your heart rate low. No two-bit pint size Yankee is going to beat you on your home turf.

“Firing,” your gunner says calmly. The serene scene before you shattered by the roar of Werewolf’s gun. It seems, however, that the Pershing commander is better than you give her credit for, her gun is pointed in your direction as she rounds the corner and her shot leaves the barrel milliseconds after yours.

They impact simultaneously, you see Ruby’s shot go straight into the gap between the hull and the turret, a 1 in 100 shot, lodging itself in the turret ring, that isn’t moving anytime soon.

Unfortunately, not all is good news, the Pershing’s return shot is almost as accurate slamming into Werewolf’s front plate and detonating. You hear some swearing from your Radioman inside, rocked by the high velocity ninety millimetres.

You decide to
> Advance quickly, Werewolf is deceptively fast, and the Pershing’s turret is jammed meaning she won’t be able to track you. She’s already hit you once
> Disengage and loop around through the town, stalk your prey then pounce when right (Left or right?)

“Forward Max! Keep her on her toes!” The order comes out as a roar, and Werewolf responds picking up speed as you race towards the crippled Pershing, juking left and right to stop her from rotating the tank to match you.

“Max, 10 degrees right! Ruby! Gun to ten O’clock, be ready to fire!” They both comply instantly, you strafe past the edge of the river and for a fraction second, both guns are pointed straight at each other.

Both gunners prove their worth. Ruby takes the opportunity and slams a shot home. It screams through the air and finds a new home in the glacis of the Pershing, making a nice black mark across the front of the Army star.

Unfortunately, yet again Layla proves to be better than expected. Using the force of your shot to forcibly shift her gun to face you, her gunner taking that second to slam a shot into the left edge of your front plate, fragments of the shell tumbling through your tracks.

Worst of all it seems she’s got her turret working. Great.

>Gained Perk – Pershing Kill Marker: The girls of Saunders know, fear and respect you. For better or worse. High-level tankers at other schools also recognise this feat.
> Gained perk – Babysitter: You’re good with Kids. Chicks dig this.

>Keep moving, swing through the right of the town and try to flank her

It’s fair to say that you’ve had Werewolf most of your life. It’s also fair to say that you’re the most experienced Panther commander in Germany and therefore, the world. That’s why you’re not going to let some jumped up American brat take you out. On your home turf no less!

“Max! Right, through the buildings! 80% Power!” You know how damaged your tracks are, and you know just how far you can push them. Your heart is hammering, straining to break free of your ribcage but your head is calm. This is what you were born for.

Werewolf gives a weary roar. Battered by the mighty T15E2M2 he refuses to give up, mirroring his valiant (and only) actions during the war.

You take stock of the situation. There are several houses on your left between you and the Pershing. She’s good. Really good. Perhaps the best tanker you’ve ever faced, she’d be expecting your appearance behind her previous position.

You look at the ruined houses between you and smirk.

CRASH Werewolf roars through the house putting his horsepower to good use. You look to the Pershing and see the girl, Layla, look at you in horror before shouting orders to her crew. The Pershing starts to turn, and even gets the gun in position but yours was there first.

Werewolf howls, a painful sound that gives you the chills. High calibre death spiralling through the air and into the Pershing’s turret cheek. Stubbornly refusing to stop until the safety layer auto-detonates the shell.

A white flag. Silence. A dishevelled little blonde climbing out of the tank. Crying. The retort to her previous comments about Cologne dies on your lips as you jump out the turret and run over, ignoring the celebrations of your crew. She may have been a prick but looking at her reminds you of your sister Erika. You always had a weak spot for her…

She glares at you balefully as you approach, eyes puffy and red.

“Hey kid, you did well,” you begin. Seeing no response you begin again “How old are you?”

“Twelve.” Comes the muffled response. You blink. At twelve you could barely command a tank let alone with the level of skill she did here.

“At your age I could barely tank at all let alone with the skill you showed, give it 6 years and you’ll be far better than me.”

She looks at you, still sceptical “You’re not just saying that? To make a silly little girl feel better?”

“I promise,” you say with your most sincere smile. You stand up and hold out your hand “Let’s get our crews and get out of this dump. I know a place that makes a killer DRØMMEKAGE. We can talk about what we could’ve done better there.”

She smiles tentatively and takes your hand. The smile growing bigger when she realises it isn’t a trick.

“Okay!” She replies, skipping alongside you. You may have come close to losing but by God does it feel good.

Fin.

>Do you want to see more of these interludes to Fritz's past?
I do, at least until after the tournament finishes. I'm of the personal opinion that the National Tournament is Miho and Ooarai's story and so the focus should still be in large part about their growth.
>What impact do you think this win is going to have on Fritz's future?
Obviously that chicks dig us even more :D

Or maybe Kay'd ask us to babysit which is a good tie in to her contact and future interactions.
>>
>>4233780
>What do you think of the module hit and crit mechanic?
I must admit it is odd for opponents to be able to repair damaged modules mid-battle.

>Did you feel like me posting the die scores helped make things a bit clearer
Yes

>Do you want to see more of these interludes to Fritz's past?
Certainly, although do be careful. There is a point you can reach where, while characterizing him, we forget he is still ultimately involved in a more important "current" narrative.

Seems interesting if you keep doing it between important events like this
>What impact do you think this win is going to have on Fritz's future?
Considering it was a close win with a younger commander, i'd say something along the lines of not underestimating his opponents
>>
>>4233791
> odd for opponents to be able to repair damaged modules mid-battle.

I will take this into account. I just don’t want us to end up crippled by a lucky shot during an important match. Perhaps I’ll make it permanent for the match and slightly less severe
>>
>>4233797
>> did you enjoy the thread? Anything I could do to improve it?
You had a lot you could have improved but I think you actually pretty much fixed them mid thread.

At first I had a few issues with lack of character interaction and some of the combat dragging on, but by the end we had a good time with all the girls and the combat scenes felt more concise. That last part might just be because this was a duel but I think the showing roll results also helped made things a lot easier to process as a watcher and voter.

All in all great job for your first thread.
>>
>>4233802
Or make it so that you can do field repairs but they only reduce the debuff slightly and only when you're not under fire.

Maybe that'd even be one of the mechanical club's talents is completely removing their debuffs or being able to field repair mid firefight.
>>
>>4233804
Because some of the later matches go multiple battles. There was even that joke of that one black forest commander that had to rethread her tank TWICE because she'd get it knocked out the moment they got into combat.

Yes, very much so.
>Do you want to see more of these interludes to Fritz's past?
Well yes it would be nice to see every once in a while.
>What impact do you think this win is going to have on Fritz's future?
It's gonna earn us a bit of infamy. Maybe even a minor bit of insight into how a baseline american crew operates at the dueling level. Most certainly it will put the belief of never underestimating your opponents into his head.

Aw, we don't have a Panzer II?

Nope all the choices were late war high quality tanks(Except no Comet for some reason) and this isn't a Tankalathon. iirc QM said if we wanted to try playing Tankalathon we might be able to get something small with an autocannon like a P2.
>>
>>4235270
But I thought the whole point of being a Werewolf was that we had shitty equipment due to being a recently drafted and transferred student and just there to fill a quota even if our quality suffered. (Or maybe that was Volksturm?)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werwolf

So we have a really, really, really good tank that outshines the main characters'? Kinda lame. Seems like it caters to a power fantasy.
>>
>>4235270

Looking at how combat has worked so far I think a comet would’ve been a pretty shit choice

I've got a fetish for really small tanks or just light armor in general. The TKP series interested me a lot since a Polish engineer commanded one and knocked out like a dozen Panzer 3s and 2s when Germany invaded Poland.

I think my favorite light just due to historical value is the Tetrarch tank because it seemed so cool being able to air drop a 40mm cannon with a glider. Even tried my best to push recruiting a Magical Girl Tetrarch in a past quest involving Mecha Girls and British Commandos.

I personally like turretless TDs a lot- the Strv 103, the Stug, Valentine, and Hetzer above all. There's just something so slick about them, and its a shame the US didn't make any Even though that was actually the correct logistical decision and doctrinally TDs make no sense.

The beginning was a bit rough since he was fairly new and by the end we got stuck in a Darkest Timeline hell but the world itself is pretty interesting and the middle parts was fun, made by Germanschteel who did the Liberty qsts. Basically any vehicle be it tank, plane or ship along with legend/folklore or ideal can be a magical girl.

His more recent quest, Fear Nought is much better written. It's basically WW1 tank mercenary commander in Russian Civil war.

I thought I'd like Strv 103 since I like self propelled and assault guns but holy shit that thing has almost literally no traverse. The Stug you could at least move left and right a few degrees but the Strv you need to actually move the WHOLE tank to aim diagonally and to aim vertically you had to actually adjust the suspension on the entire tank to aim it up or down.

Got the itch to run again but know I can't yet.

Will try to begin on Tuesday instead of Wednesday.

Night lads
>>
>>4235565
What's the point of that, it's basically just an expensive fire works launcher at that point.
>>
>>4235607
The Strv was speedy, highly survivable, entrenchable, featured a 10 cm autocannon, and because of the tuning of its chassis was capable of competing with fellow 60's era tanks in target-acquisition speed and accuracy from movement. The major Swedish miscalculation in its design was Swedish industry's skepticism about stabilization technology when designing the 103.

Was it the best tonk? No, but it was unique and managed not to be a garbage can while doing it- a win in my book.

>Oh, anon you've got it wrong You're a big fish in a tiny pond right now
I don't want to be big fish, I want to be one of a school of pirahnas.
>>
>>4235331
Too bad we can't fit our whole crew onto the Kettenkrad without everyone just sticking out of the side.
>>
>>4235672
Well Ooarai's destined to be a school of big fish by the end of the tournament but it's pretty much our job to turn them into badasses faster.
>>
>>4236011
Can't we be cool in a Panzer II? Why do we need to have the best tank in a ragtag group of misfits?
>>
>>4236019
Because at the end of the day regardless of our tank it's still going up against hordes of churchills and tigers.
>>
>>4236020
Not just our tank, a ragtag group of misfit tanks. We don't need to have the biggest dick/tank to win matches.
>>
>>4236023
>Not just our tank, a ragtag group of misfit tanks. We don't need to have the biggest dick/tank to win matches.
I'm aware, that's what I'm trying to imply. Also nothing is technically stopping us from getting our hands on a Panzer II outside of crew space and actually finding one to wager.
>>
>>4236023
At the end of the day, you still need a tank that can fight a Maus and win.

Even in a Panther II you have to roll less than 7 to scratch the fucker and that's not including dealing with 19 other tanks each of which can kill Werewolf with a good roll.

So however big you think your dick is Maho's is bigger

I'll still be disappointed that we had a list of tryhard tanks as our starters instead of a Panzer II of all things.
>>
>>4236538
Well the tank's supposed to last us the entire quest. Taking a tank's an important thing in GuP world, probably nobody will change their tanks until MAYBE after graduation or if they decide to try Tankalathon.
>>
>>4236572
Unrelated, but what if Yogurt had a bunch of tanks converted into tractors, and like five teams tops? So during matches, when one tank goes down, they go switch to another tank, hidden in a barn/farmhouse/garage? They do this 30 times.
>>
>>4236577
That sounds hilarious, do you mind if I use this? It won't be in any upcoming threads but I'd love to work it in
>>
>>4236582
I'd love it.

You're welcome, and... I'll just get over the chargen choices I wasn't around for.
>>
>>4236577
>Streets are blocked off by groups of knocked out light tanks
>Light tanks have more armor than a Heavy tank from using knocked out light tanks as cover
>Our team keeps getting attacked from behind because we passed a lot of tractor sheds
>Can even find their flag tank because it's in a shed somewhere
>>
>>4236594
>Can't even find their flag tank*
>>
>>4236600
>It's buried underneath a bunch of tanks.
>>
>Most of their tanks don't even have armaments, they're just there to harass the enemy into wasting shells
>>
>>4236611
>Some of their tanks* (the CV-33s technically have armaments)
>>
>>4236611

>Momo still can't hit anything
>>
>>4236623
>Her shell knocks out their still dormant flag tank which isn't anywhere near the battle lines
>>
>>4236055
The solution to a Maus is just avoiding it's slow ass. Have your smallest, fastest tank drive up alongside, too close for it to depress that ridiculous main gun, toss some satchel charges on the tracks, and laugh as the crew have no capacity to REPAIR said tracks in an expedient manner because, like everything else on the Maus, they're so comically outsized as to be more a meme than anything practical.
>>
>>4236822
Does GuP have a "realistic" Maus turret turn rate? If so, your bold plan might just work.

-t. never watched the show

>>4236857
>"realistic" Maus turret turn rate

Can't remember if GuP does but I've taken this into account

>satchel charges
Illegal I'm afraid

You have tow cables. Don't know if you can have a harpoon though
