Your name is Milia Krait. More specifically Queen Milia Krait. There was a time when you may have been just Milia, but that naive girl has been dead to you for some years now. Your rule is absolute, your presence a symbol of awe-inspiring terror. Those who love you would give their lives for you, and those who do not love you would dare not admit it out of fear of your royal guard.

You have lorded over the nation of Srunda on your own for just a year since your now ex-husband died mysteriously when somebody stabbed him several times in the neck with your personal knife while he slept. This particular political move has earned you the nickname of Red Queen. A moniker that you frankly relish, and you have since used in re-branding the castle's aesthetic sensibilities.

During your year in power, Srunda has seen much overhaul at your hand, but it is idleness that leads to destruction and you continue to seek further methods to secure your power and your dynasty. The slightest slip in your iron grip and you could be faced with burgeoning rebellions, political conspiracy, and the threat of war with Arcadia on your western border.

You have awoken this morning in your chambers, your pet crow's caws serving as your alarm.
What will you do?

You have yet to dress in appropriate attire, still clad in your bed robe as you get up and wander barefoot through the grandiose hallways of the Twisting Citadel. Guards snap to attention and salute as you pass, nobles bow or cower as you make your way towards the war room.

Blood-Red banners decorate every wall of the chamber, an immense table accompanied with a continental map lay in the center, as always it is surrounded by several of your most talented generals and advisors. They chatter about infantry, the weight of armor, training regimes, siege weaponry, the usual. An appropriate hush falls over them as you throw the doors open and enter. Many bow their heads and some take a knee. You take your seat at the head of the table and stare at the men and women in the room, waiting for somebody to break the silence.

General Tazos, your primary advisor on matters of war and one of the few holdovers from your husband's administration clears his throat and slicks back his thick black hair.

"My lady, there is little to report today. The latest reports from the Arcadian border tell that we are still at a stalemate with their defensive encampments."

Also how are our weapons specialists doing so far in producing new and groundbreaking weapons?
>>
Your question leads to a burst of activity from the advisors, some claim a lack of aggression on our part, others that the Arcadians have invoked divine powers to their aid. Tazos attempts to hush them so that he may speak. He has little success but a raise of your hand is enough to get the job done.

"As you know, your grace... Our shared border with Arcadia offers little in the way of advantage to us. The dense woodlands and hills of that region allow the Arcadians to maintain a defensive position, picking off our incursions from on-high." As he speaks he points out the problem areas on the map. "In addition, while we outclass Arcadia in military training and devotion to the cause, as a nation they are nearly four times our size and have a population several score larger than ours..."

He steps aside and allows another man to take the floor, a wiry and nervous fellow named Bolmeln from one of the lesser noble houses, which one exactly escapes your memory. "Our spies have reported that several duchies in northern Arcadia are worrying about natural resource shortages. It seems that the pressure we maintain on their border accompanied with pre-existing issues in that area from the Arcadian revolution have led to shortages in iron and lumber."

Tazos steps forward once more, the frail looking Bolmeln slinking back into the crowd "I believe that continuing on our current course could lead to significant tensions internally as their leadership continues pushing their efforts to reinforce the border."

You nod at this, while you wouldn't consider your conflict with Arcadia a 'war' per say, it is the primary armed conflict Srunda is involved in. Your late husband had hoped to claim territory to expand your borders but had little luck in doing so. Arcadia meanwhile shows no signs of attempting to respond in kind, instead taking an entirely defensive position.

"And Elgra, how go your projects?" You direct the question to a towering tanned woman who stands apart from your advisors in how clearly battle-scarred she is.

She bows her head as she speaks. "My queen, our treaty with Marinha continues to prove highly beneficial as we have managed to recruit several of their greatest scientific minds. Thanks to your generous offerings from the treasury they have begun manufacturing Marinhan airship technology, we can hope to have the first one operational within the year."

"Of course my queen, we shall rain fire down upon all those who deny your rule!" The gravelly voiced woman salutes firmly. You smirk to yourself, you were right to have her put in charge of international relationships with Marinha, you were also right to have her predecessor killed for failing to provide results. It really set the tone for your rule.

Sensing an end to the discussions you get up and head for the door, leaving the lessers to squabble over whatever meaningless semantics have gotten into their heads today. Military strategy you find is often a bore, you require something to raise your spirits and elect to sit in on some of the public executions held regularly in the citadel's courtyard. If only to see the executioner's smiling face.

As you walk, you find yourself followed in lockstep by your political advisor Azo, although he prefers you think of him as 'the royal confidant'. Unlike many of your fellow nobility, Azo elects to use the servant tunnels running throughout the floors and walls of the citadel which allows him the uncanny ability to appear from seemingly nowhere.

"Your crimson eminence." He drawls. "Have you given much thought to the matter I broached yesterday?"

"Marriage?"

"Yes my lady..." Azo grins, he is of the mind that a spouse should be at the forefront of your mind. "I sincerely believe a royal wedding would do much to foster national pride, we could scout notable noblemen from allied nations, or if your grace would prefer, perhaps among the elite of Srunda."

His simpering continues throughout your walk. "...Perhaps arranging some sort of competition, blood-sport among our knights for the chance to win your hand?" Eventually he allows himself to fall silent as you arrive at one of several balconies overlooking the courtyard.

One of your proudest achievements, the Twisting Citadel's center is an immense courtyard, a diverse garden of flora accompanies hedges carved into your image, and at the center of that is the royal execution grounds where nearly round the clock prisoners of war, criminals, and dissidents are killed in a wide variety of gruesome ways. Your high executioner stands out atop the stage clad in what was once a stark white dress but is now soaked in blood and clinging to her skin.

"Ah! Hiiiiiiiii~" She has somehow spotted you on the balcony and has begun waving her free hand frantically above her head. "Your majesty! Hi! It's me, it's Salme!" She pauses her waving to grasp her warhammer with both hands, swinging it high overhead and crashing it down onto the head of a bound and gagged man, liquefying it almost instantly. She then begins waving again.
>>
>>4293011
Marriage would be great yes. Draw up a list from our own nobles, foreign ones and our worthiest knights immediately. Perhaps then we'll have a competition, or perhaps we'll just pick one we like the most, we shall see.

Tell Salme we'd like to see the burning of a young woman. It's our favourite method.

"Yes my lady, right away my lady!" Azo beams with pride as he scurries off to his work. It should prove an interesting list.

You lean against the railing, a light breeze blowing at the ends of your bedrobe as you watch the stage. You wave at the executioner, blowing her a chaste kiss. "Salme, I want to watch a maiden burn."

The bubbly girl seems to have an uncanny sense of hearing, you don't even need to raise your voice before she's dragging a sobbing girl up on stage. From the looks of things she can't be much older than eighteen... Around the same age you were when the king's men found you and...

Rather than dwell on the past you elect to focus on the present. The young woman is bawling loudly through her gag as Salme skips up and down the stage, stacking kindling around the prisoner's trembling form. "What was her crime Salme?" You rest your chin in your hand, the anticipation of the moment is almost as enjoyable as the act itself.

"Her father was a duke that attempted to flee with his family to Arcadia my lady! The patriarch is later down the queue, we aren't sure to what extent his wife and children were involved in the decision but better safe than sorry!" She soon finishes her grim task, the distraught young lady now kneeling atop a pile of branches and hay, her arms and legs bound in place. With a wave of your hand, Salme sets a torch to the pile and the courtyard is filled with the muffled shrieks of the burning teen and not long after her gag has burnt to cinder, her echoing death rattle. Salme sits at the edge of the fire, warming her hands on the blaze as the countless other prisoners watch in wide-eyed horror as the once beautiful captive's skin bubbles and melts leaving a charred fleshy husk by the time the blaze dies down.

You consider for a moment the crowd of on-looking prisoners, and the manner in which each of them will die for your entertainment. Perhaps it could be even more entertaining still to watch others kill for your entertainment. Azo had suggested a competition to win your hand, opening such a thing to all of Srunda would surely attract plenty of cannon fodder if you chose to pursue that path... Something to think on more perhaps?

What will you do next?

>>4293032
(Noted, thanks for the advice!)

Ask her to get the girl's father and put a fruit on his head and if she manages to hit the man in the eye she may kiss our feet when she's done for today

Excellent work Salme, next time take off the gag before you light the fire and keep the victim alive for longer. The screams and the terror are the most exciting part after all.

Have a small blood sport demonstration on the courtyard. Just 10 prisoners or so, winner gets a relatively painless execution. Then we retire and do something else.

"Try for a slower burn next time Salme, and remove the gag. I prefer it when they scream. The fear is the best part."

Salme bows her head in acknowledgement before picking up her hammer and heading to fetch the next criminal when a thought enters your head. "Hold a moment Salme, fetch that girl's father. I desire to see his death, and get your bow and arrow." Ever obedient, the blood stained blonde drags an older balding man to the forefront, his legs kicking behind him as he is thrown towards the wall backing up the stage.

Salme kicks him in the gut. "Get up pig! The queen wants to watch you squeal!" She kicks him again in the stomach before he has a chance to respond and he retches into his gag. When he does stand Salme crosses to the front of the stage and begins to knock an arrow.

"Hold again Salme." You call out and the executioner looks expectantly up to your balcony. "You've been dutiful and loyal for all my reign, you deserve a reward. If your arrow pierces his eye then this evening once you have finished work, you may come to the throne room and kiss my feet."

Salme quirks her head to the side, not precisely sure how to respond but in the end she settles on gratitude. "Thank you my lady! I relish the opportunity!" Steadily she takes aim at the quivering nobleman who's bile has begun to drip down his chin. With some expertise she lets the arrow loose, is whistles through the air and sinks itself into the man's brow, centimetres above his eye.

"Shit!" Salme curses and tosses the bow to the ground dejectedly. The nobleman's body slumps to the ground with a thud, his eyes frozen wide open in an expression of abject terror.

"A commendable yet inadequate effort." You chuckle at the display before waving to a nearby maid to fetch you a chair, you're in the mood to play some more. "Salme, fetch a dull sword and place it in the center of the courtyard. The next ten prisoners will fight to the death for my amusement, the last one standing gets to be hung."

She nods and rushes towards the stockade of weapons kept behind her stage. As she searches and gathers the prisoners, you direct several citadel guards to form a ring around the chosen prisoners, a mock arena of sorts to prevent any possible escape. Their brilliant scarlet armor standing out among the greed of the grass and hedge as Salme sets a rusting shortsword in the grass and scurries out of the ring.

Just then your maid arrives with a cushioned chair in hand. Setting it in place behind you, you take a seat though the maid lingers. You glare at her out of the corner of your eye and she trembles at your gaze. "W-Would your m-majesty like company for the viewing? S-Shall I call upon anyone?"

QM, to help give people an idea of the sorts of things they can do, consider adding choice prompts. People can be unsure of what is possible/reasonable or would like some guidance to help with the choice. Something like:

Your guards present to you the assassin who tried to poison your bloodwine. How do you choose to execute him?

>Burn him at the stake
>Exsanguinate the traitor
>Forcefeed him until his stomach bursts
>Do not execute him. Instead recruit him, holding his family hostage to ensure compliance
>Write in
>>
>>4293129
Not everything has to have prompts. Creativity and free-form is good. Plenty of other quests if you want prompts.
>>
>>4293132
No shit you don't need them, that's why I was wording it as a suggestion and not a demand. You can have both prompts and creativity. There is literally no reason why having example choices would suddenly remove the free form nature of quests. Having both is something you see in the majority of quests out there, I would say. I was putting the suggestion/example out there because QM implied he was going to add prompts in the earlier post but didn't.

"Find the best looking serving boy and bring him here, and a chair for yourself too." You dismiss her with a wave of your hand and she runs off to her work. Salme stands by, staring up at you and smiling vacantly as she waits for the signal to begin. Soon enough the maid returns with a chair for herself, behind her is a blonde man dressed in the garb of a stable-hand. He's handsome enough, a stubbled chin and muscles compliment his figure. He may be a few years your senior but that isn't something you care much about.

Wordlessly you hold your hand out to the man and for a moment he seems confused. After setting down her chair, the maid slaps him on the back and he seems to get the idea. He falls to his knees and takes your soft hand into his, gently kissing the back of it. "Th-Thank you for requesting my company your holiness... I don't know what to say." He speaks with a thick accent indicative of the working class but you couldn't have expected anything different.

"Take a seat, you are here to provide me company for some sport." You turn away from him and indicate to Salme that you're ready to begin the show. She bounces to attention and the ring of guards cut the binds on the hands and legs of the selected prisoners, most of whom are unremarkable although there is what appears to be a ten year old boy and an elderly couple among their number.

"You may begin!" You call down to the prisoners, a slight laugh rising in your voice as the confused victims mill about in the circle. One woman seems to get what's going on and makes a dive for the rusty sword, terror apparent in her eyes.

"You have an admirable physique for a peasant." You look away from the action to the serving boy and trail the tip of a fingernail along his bicep. He shivers at your touch, still not entirely sure what it is you want or why he's been invited specifically. The maid attempts to avoid looking at your activities and instead focus on the battle below. The woman with the sword has swung it around wildly in a cleaving strike, it's grazed another contestant leaving a large bloody gash across his chest as he writhes on the ground bleeding out. The elderly couple are huddling together and the child has fallen to his knees weeping.

"You know that girl down there with the sword was once a member of the staff here..." You're not sure if that's true but enough of your household staff end up executed that it's a plausible lie. "She did not perform to my standards so I'm afraid I had to have her punished rather severely." You slide your hand under the stable-hand's arm, locking your arms together and pulling him a little closer to you. "With a body as fetching as yours... If you were to participate in such a conflict I'd feel comfortable betting on your victory."

The woman with the sword is tackled to the ground by a bald man who sharply stamps on the back of her neck several times until she stops moving. He pries the sword from her grasp and begins scrambling across the grass towards the crying child. Seeing his trajectory, the elderly man jumps to the child's defense and is brought to the ground by a swipe of the sword. It takes some effort but the bald man plunges the blade directly into his stomach.

"Oh good show... I like him." You free your arm from the stable-hand and clap politely. Even as you watch another young man creep up behind the sword-wielder and grapple him from behind. The distraught elderly woman is caught in his wild swings and her jaw is opened up by a wayward swipe. The child crawls away on the grass but is stopped by an athletic woman who grabs him by the throat and begins to squeeze desperately until at last the child's thrashing stops.

"M-My queen this is..." The maid looks shell-shocked at the display of violence below. As the bald man throws off his assailant and kicks him hard in the temple before stabbing down into his open mouth you can't help but let out a delighted giggle. Only four contestants remain, the athletic woman, bald man, and a pair of skinny teens who've been scrapping with one another unnoticed by the others.

>>
The bald man looks to the athletic woman first, the pair of them running at one another, she slides across the grass and sweeps at his feet, he stumbles and drops the sword, she picks it up off the ground. He looks around dazed and rolls out of the way to avoid a downward strike from the sword, he hops to his feet and punches, shattering the woman's nose, now she drops the sword. Rather than risk momentary vulnerability from the weapon he kicks it away and grapples with the woman eventually snapping her neck.

The two skinny teens meanwhile have become bloodied and weak. One of them gasping for air and kicking while the other grabs hold of their throat and squeezes. Too distracted with each other, they do not notice as the bald man approaches from behind with the sword, plunging it into the back of the teen on top and breaching far enough to skewer the bottom teen, pinning them together as they squirm and bleed out on the lawn.

He breathes a deep sigh of relief and collapses to the grass laughing to himself. Salme applauds the show, bouncing up and down as she does. Your maid looks as though she's holding back vomit, and the stable-hand seems genuinely traumatized.

"An excellent show. Salme, execute him." Your high executioner nods and wraps the loop of a prepared noose around the bald man's neck. Too exhausted and hysterical to fight back he allows himself to be strung up from a nearby tree, Salme holding the opposite end of the rope as she stands him up on a stool.

The bald man glances up at your balcony, a defiant glare in his eyes as he spits blood to the grass. "What?! No last requests after that display?!" He cackles. "I was hoping i might at least get the chance to get my cock we-" Salme quickly tugs on her end of the rope and with surprising strength from a girl of her figure the man is silenced, a strangled choking filling the courtyard as he kicks and squirms. Your gathered guards begin dragging off the numerous cadavers and throwing them into a pile with the rest. The bodies will likely remain there for the day before they are either burnt, used as feed for the War Swine, or paraded about the villages as a warning.

"Maid, what is the time? It must be at least noon by now." You stand from your chair, straightening your bed robe and turning away from the courtyard.

The maid swallows back her sick and stands as well, following you as you return to the citadel interior. "Yes my lady, around then." The maid beckons for the confused and distressed stable hand to follow and he runs after the two of you.

"Excellent, follow me you two. I'll be taking my bath now." You make a turn and follow the path to your royal bath-chamber. A pair of waiting guards open the doors for you and several serving girls scatter at your approach. Waiting in the room's center is a large bath built into the floor from onyx tile, and of course it has been freshly filled with warm water.

Water? Disgraceful! Hardly a bath fit for a queen. You call back the staff and insist that they drain this mess and fill it to the brim with milk. If they don't you'll have them cut to pieces.

You take a seat on a stool and watch as jug after just of milk is emptied into the tub, slowly filling it to the brim with a still white pool that just about matches the pallor of your skin. You stand, discarding your robe and stepping one foot into the milk. Glancing over your shoulder you note that the stable-hand and maid have averted their gaze out of a false sense of modesty. "Come you two. This morning you shall bathe with me. Disrobe."

Your stern command spurs them to action and they begin to strip down, standing before you in the nude. You sink down to your neck in the milk, relishing the cool sensation upon your skin. Slowly, the pair join you, still standing in the milk too afraid to take any independent action.

"Maid. Fetch a sponge and scrub my back." She obediently hurries to find one, although she's unfamiliar with this particular room and must look through several drawers and cupboards. Meanwhile, you raise one of your legs to breach the surface of the bath, displaying your thin calf to the stable-hand. "As for you boy, come closer, I want you to massage me."

"Yes... Your majesty." He swallows his fear and approaches you, his rough hands trying to hold your leg as gently as possible as he rubs the muscle.

The maid returns, kneeling by the pool's edge with a sponge and a bucket of warm water. Delicately she begins to scrub at your back, you lean forward slightly to give her better access. Your piercing gaze is focused solely on the stable-hand however. He can't meet your eyes and instead is clumsily doing what he can to make you comfortable.

"Do you love your queen boy?" You ponder aloud.

"Y-Yes your majesty. Of course I love you." He bows his head. There's something so appealing about the fear he shows.

"Describe my body. How do you see this form you claim to love?" You sink your leg back into the milk and raise the other one for him to work on.

"Your s-skin is as pale and lovely as the purest of marble..." His voice trembles as he speaks. "Your eyes piercing like rubies... Your body is a masterpiece that no artist or sculptor could hope to recreate. Men and women alike would gladly die for the chance to glimpse you as I have today..."

You allow your leg to sink back into the milk and you raise yourself up, standing above him as he continues to kneel. "Enough platitudes. Describe my body."

He swallows again, his eyes struggling to find somewhere to rest, he clearly wants to be staring at your bare breasts but he knows better than to ogle the Red Queen. "You are... A slender woman. You have flawless skin, untouched by hardship... Your hair is the same color as the crows you keep."

You continue to advance on him, a predator. He stumbles over his words as you stand directly before him. "Y-Your..." He hesitates. "Your breasts are alluring and petite... Your-" You stop his words and grab a fistful of his hair, pulling him up from the milk to meet you and pressing a firm kiss to his lips. The stubble of his beard tickles and scratches your face as your force your tongue into his mouth. He struggles to reciprocate or even to fathom what is happening. Your maid meanwhile sits back awestruck and unsure of what she should do.

"Have you ever fucked a woman before stable boy?" You ask plainly, releasing his hair and pushing him back into the milk. He lands with a splash that soaks the floor around the tub. The porcelain liquid sloshing back and forth as you continue to loom over him. "No man has had me since my late husband but I have seen quite clearly that you desire my body. How crude."

"N-No I j..." He splashes backwards, trying to create space between the two of you. You grab his shoulders and plant yourself firmly on his lap. Feeling him fill you, you bare your teeth at him in a smile.

"Stableboy. I will be holding a contest to find my next husband. Noblemen and knights from Srunda and beyond shall kill and die for the chance to feel what you're feeling." You roll your hips and he whimpers, throwing his head back. "Among their number will be you. You will fight, and kill, and perhaps die for the chance to take a place as my king. Do you understand?"

"Yes my queen!" He lets out a breathy moan as you roll your hips once more atop him before standing. He whines, unsatisfied.

You lean against the edge of the pool on your chest, giving him a demanding glance over your shoulder. "Hurry now. I'm a busy woman." He needs no further instruction...

A few hours later, your maid is toweling you down. The exhausted stable-hand still laying in the milk and gasping for air. The maid has no words, shocked into silence perhaps?

Once you've been dried, some more servants hurry to your side with clothing, a form-fitting crimson dress. You turn to the maid. "Clean him up and find him a room in the guest's quarters. He will be of use to me in future."

You have little in the way of responsibilities for the rest of the day and though your legs are... Admittedly a little shaky, there is much you could do with your free time.
