"Full steam ahead."

The heat from your hijacked steam boat melted the ice sheet on the main deck. Under the oppressing mass of the grey clouds carrying never ending snow, your hired Fishmen loaded up coal and stolen good from the quarantined ship. Now you are ready to crash this boat in the Noble District with the surviving monkeys. These strange creature will help your alchemist friend to cure the plague that has decimated tenth of thousands. What a ride it has been, from a simple sailor to a celebrity, then back to the street as a simple butcher. After the plague hit the City you befriended a Witch, a Mermaid, kidnapped a Vestal, helped some orphans, dealt with the knife-ears occupation force... Alfonso Barbatti, a name this City they will remember!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOrE2Qr1FMU

The waves crash against the metal hull. You can see the flames rising from the Elven Embassy you just left. But even that is nothing compared to the thick column of smoke rising from your ship, you pass by the burning building with great contempt, holding the helm. The Fishmen prepared your departure too fast for the Elven Commando to react. Your giant paddles emulate the drizzle preceding giant storms. A catastrophe you are about to rain down on the Noble District. You tighten your grip on the helm as the shore keeps growing, invading your field of vision.

As if trying to fit the whole district in the reflection of your iris, you stare wide-eyed on the villas sleeping under their snow blanket. The monkeys are screaming, they animal instinct telling them something terrible is going to happen. The Citadel, only a few miles away is in high alert, but with their Coastal Battery destroyed they were unable to stop you. You crash the boat at maximum speed. The stem rises over the dock, stay suspended in balance and falls down suddenly.

The Plague
It's a multiple stages disease where a patient can relapse and progress to the next stage even if he was treated. There is an appropriate level of treatment for each stage and different type of contamination that you learned. You are researching several cures, all leading to a dungeon where you will have to fight with the three main faction that have overtaken the City during the Quarantine. The Inquisition from the Church of Sol, zealots, fanatics, pyromancers... burning everything related to Arcane Magic or Science, confiscating Mystical and Iceburst Stones. The Elven Commandos, benevolent benefactors turning into a foreign occupation force, archers and elementalists you should never let ambush you. The Militia, corrupted ex-sailor using stilts, pikes and rifles, treating people like cattle and Demihumans like possessions.

The Catacombs
With the help of a Witch, you hope to find their entrance in the Cemetary. The place is currently investigated by the Inquisition, it's only a matter of time before they find the Temple of Charon. The Dark Miracle, you hope to perform there, grants the ability to remove any targeted lifeforms. You learned about it thanks to the Hammer of the Witches ( https://pastebin.com/wgWFSXFj ). Expect to fight pyromancer and zealots with the same life regenerating/pain numbing abilities as the ones you developed with Sol's Divine Magic.

The Deep
The Mermaid told you that a Kraken has laid its nest in their underwater caves. With the help of an Apothecary and a Savant she hoped to build a submarine to fight the creature and pay her partners with a miraculous algae supposed to be a hundred time more effective than healing potions. Sadly, you only have two days to contact the savant who has been sold to the Dwarves by the Elves. You also stole documents that might detail the relationship between the Ambassador and an Undine.

The Ruins
Now that you have secured the test subjects for your Alchemist friend, he will be able to create a serum by infecting them with Stage Three of the disease and treating their injury until they develop an immunity. You still have to find a place where he will not attract attention and most importantly, find the Philosophal Stone. Hidden on a secret island, this treasured artefact as well as the Demihuman-loving Alchemist are of high interest to the tyrannical Doge of the City.

>>run to Don Giovanni's mansion and get the help of his smuggler network (Physical)
Off to a good start. Lets get things rolling. The Militia will be at the scene soon. Best to get our haul secured before they have the chance to investigate, however I seemingly am the only one around, and I don't trust the dice. Likely just Militia will show here, and the only thing that would be at any real risk of being taken immediately would probably be the gunpowder or rum. We're sure as shit not going to be able to run while pushing a couple barrels, but we could at least move the bucket of gunpowder to the tunnels. Doubt the Militia would put the animals to death immediately, but they may try to loot. Potentially. As for other looters, I'm not really concerned with them. This is the Noble District, there shouldn't be many people like that here. And it's past curfew, as well as the recent order to stay indoors.

Using a rope hanging from a great mast's pulley, you land carefully on the rubbles what was once a fine promenade along the shore. The windows are lighting up but nobody dares to go outside past the curfew and with the self-quarantine order. It takes half an hour to get to Don Giovanni's Mansion, leaving a visible trail in the snow behind you.

Over the balcony, the billionaire/philanthropic/inventor/mafioso is smiling from ear to ear watching the incident despite your recent betrayal. It's almost a desperate smirk knowing his fate will be decided tonight with the reelection. He understands the situation and rush back inside.

You are still panting when Raphaella, his newly acquired Demihuman maid, startles you. She has this ability of getting behind people's back without being noticed, especially by night.

"A-Are you alright Alfonso?" she worries
"You... You made it... You made it to his mansion... I'm... glad" you try to breath
"Take your time. Come inside, I will make some tea and wake up Bernardo."
"There's no time!"

Brushing aside her proposal to recover and talk with the man who requested the monkeys, the famous Dottore Bernardo Pastori, you hear footsteps creaking in the snow behind you.

"Signore, Barbatti. We're here to help."

It's Don Giovanni's smugglers. They are all equipped with their Mystical Stones Parachute. These short men, almost Dwarf-like, can jump from high position and delay they fall thanks to a levitation device. With the right impulsion, they can travel great distance. However, several questions arise. They can probably stash the loot in the tunnels but what about the monkeys? and the gorilla? These animal will male noise and attract the Militia. And there is nothing to restrain the gorilla once he wakes up, if he wakes up.

About the monkeys
>tell them to steal a speed gondola for you and go hide them in the Industrial District (Mental) (-20 manoeuvring a speed boat fast enough)
>they can hide the caged monkeys in the Dead Zone in the meantime, nobody goes there
>hide them in the tunnels and just like you did with the gorilla, hit the monkeys until they fall unconscious, you can heal them later with potions
>write-in (write-in are always available but I may or may not choose them)

About the gorilla
>four smugglers use their device at full power to carry the beast to a tunnel, leaving behind one of the heaviest loot (barrel of rum, bag of wheat, bag of potatoes)
>you will hide the beast yourself in the tunnels (-30 super heavy lifting)
>don't bother, leave him
>amputate the animal to make it lighter and have him accompany the monkeys, you will heal it later with potions (Physical) (-10 to do it fast enough +5 because butcher)

How much of the plants they should save?
>[default]equal amount of poppy, quiquina, eucalyptus, söy, citrus, chamomile, saffron, coca
>not this plant and more of this plant, write-in
>>
>>4303040
>>4303040
>they can hide the caged monkeys in the Dead Zone in the meantime, nobody goes there
Here's the thing, we acquire more health potions, we dilute them into their water. That should keep any disease in check

About the gorilla
What if we use the mystical stones? in a makeshift way to help tolerate the weight. Like a extra parachute, but already turned it on, that way it isn't as heavy
Would that be possible? Can Don Giovanni provide more stones for something like that?

>[default]equal amount of poppy, quiquina, eucalyptus, söy, citrus, chamomile, saffron, coca

I still sad about the ambassador, we were sooooooooo close
>>
>>4303057
>Would that be possible?
No. They are already using all their resources to help you. If you had collected Mystical Stones yourself before, it would have been possible.
>>
>>4303040
>>tell them to steal a speed gondola for you and go hide them in the Industrial District (Mental) (-20 manoeuvring a speed boat fast enough)
I don't really have any better ideas, the dead zone option seems way too risky. The swarms of rats still roam the Dead Zone, and by now they've probably consumed most food. The monkeys are too valuable to become rat food, and I'm sure there are other risks as well.
>>don't bother, leave him
The gorilla may be fucked either way due to the stab wound. While it may be a potential asset, is it really worth busting our asses for or leaving other loot behind over? And what about feeding it? We have a load of food now, but it probably will require so much extra care. We have enough ahead of us as is.
>not this plant and more of this plant, write-in
No söy. I'm sure we could use it as a potion ingredient, but it's more likely that we'd just consume it or let it rot before finding a recipe. It's just proteins if I recall, and we have those in the canned meat already. Instead, save more coca.
No chamomile either. We've seen how it is possible to steal it from the Hothouse. Devalued due to being less unique. Go for Saffron.
>>4303057
>I still sad about the ambassador
Sorry about voting for otherwise. A negative 50 modifier is way too harsh. We were not really prepared. Give it some time, we'll get another chance. We could have some coca/saffron elixirs ready to go for that, and something to keep in mind for the future is that we could attempt to fight him and the other bosses using the environment rather than direct attacks to circumvent that roll penalty.
>>
>>4303057
Support. Also, yeah, sucks about the ambassador, but we still might be able to plan something.

With the bucket of gunpowder we have we can easily make a bunch of bombs, we just need to figure out if we can turn them into impact grenades, or ask don Giovanni if he can make some for us. The fire at the embassy means that the ambassador should be less secure, so if we manage to sneak past the elves we might have some good opportunities at him.

The four Aeronauts lead you to the roof of the mansion from where everyone takes graciously off in the night sky across the snow falling from the sky. The men land as feather close to the crashed boat, get busy gathering as much loot as ordered to and hide it in the tunnels. Then, carrying the caged monkeys up the mast, take a second fall toward the Dead Zone.

The gorilla is left alone, in the cargo bay, still unconscious after a blood loss. There's not telling what will happen to him.

Tunnels of the Noble District
-1 bucket of gunpowder (10 doses)
-2 barrels of rum (95L)
-1 bag of wheat (50kg)
-1 bag of potatoes (100)
-10 poppy, 10 quiquina, 10 eucalyptus, 10 söy, 10 citrus, 10 chamomile, 10 saffron, 10coca

Clocktower in the Dead Zone
-4 monkeys

The Militia has invaded the Noble District and they heading for the palce of the crash, denying you further access to your unlimited amount of plants. It's 3AM, you are soaked wet, freezing in the cold winter night.

Where are you?
>the Aeronauts carried you to the Dead Zone

Talk to Bernando, then go talk to the militia. We're still dressed in the party clothes, right? Might be enough to set off the militia-elf war I've been wanting to instigate for a while.

As you watched the smuggler take off from the balcony with Raphaella and Don Giovanni, Bernardo rushed from his room to ask about the monkeys. The man who was previously tortured by the Militia has regained some colours, in a manner of speech. His hair have grown back, even where he was burnt despite a slight decoloration.

"The monkeys, Alfonso!" he panics "What happened?"
"Four of them alive." you calmly speak
"That's..."

He stays silent, one finger raised under his nose like a strange incantation posture. Looks like he is making some intense calculation.

"enough serum for 40,000 people if we bleed them dry once they are immunized. We could farm them over a longer period of time, but the City is running out of time."
"And the gorilla?"
"You have a gorilla?!"
"Yeah... I... uh... just learned about it from someone working at La Stampa."
"That's 40L of blood Alfonso! We can make enough serum for 40,000 more people!"

Looks like you really need that beast. But what happens to the monkeys? They will need to eat something and it's probably freezing cold atop the Clocktower. It's not merchandise you can indefinitely store, especially considering they were starving.

There is now at least one Militiaman at every corner with a torch, banging at everyone's door to check for where the boat hijacker went. And they will soon be here. For the first time, you witness Don Giovanni bearing an annoyed expression, breaking his serene character.

"First you buy me clothes so cheap I can't show up at the Embassy, then you reveal to everyone that my butler was the Organ Harvester and now you lead the Militia straight to me." the noble stares coldly at you
"But I didn't..." you try to explain yourself
"Men don't apologize, Alfonso. They act. I will keep my share of the deal, though. You can keep the 50 gold coins I gave you, but should I really expect you to be my bodyguard at the College session?"

Where should you go?

"I will be there, Don GIovanni" you reassure him
"That's the least I expect from a man." he answer, distant
"But how come you didn't go there? I also bought myself a two gold coin costume."

He frowns his eyebrows in disbelief, dumb fooled by your lack of common sense. He is a Don, a descendant of a previous Doge and his is running as a candidate to replace him and restore the College. You notice that even his pyjama is more expensive than what you are wearing, probably made from the same black silk as Francesca's dress.

"I will be back." you say before drinking the ignored potion

Everybody forgets about your presence, as if you were never here. Only Raphaella's racoon ears twitch with your footsteps echoing in the reception hall of the mansion. The snow keeps falling from the sky, making your trip back to the boat difficult. As you get closer to your destination, more Militiamen gather on the trail you left behind. They wonder why they didn't notice those footsteps earlier.

You manage to get back on board, still frozen to the bone, your throat soar of all the phlegm you built to face the cold and your intestine painful of the cold assault. Even worse, it seems the Militia is now encircling the boat.

"There's someone invisible here!" one shouts

In the distance, you can see the Ducal Palace is all it. The Doge as safely regained his place and also, the fire at the Embassy has ended with many boats leaving. Six Militiamen are swinging their halberd on the deck, probing for invisible enemies.

You throw your flick knife, meticulously adjusting your hit, sometime only a few steps away from your target's neck. Using this potion really proved useful. In the span of ten seconds, two are down and they have still no idea where it came from. Ending this serie with the Elven dagger, you raise your score to three down.

Now only armed with the dagger, you avoid a halberd slash from a panicked pikeman. Bulging eyes, trembling hands, he probably never experienced such fear. What could have killed his comrade? Why does he have to inspect a ship past midnight? He was probably sleeping at the Arsenal an hour ago and the next he falls on this deck, dead.

You retrieve the dagger, sending an arc of blood in the air which makes another pikeman screams in horror and swing his halberd. You barely avoid the razor sharp weapon, feeling a breath of fresh air on your belly and plunge the dagger in his throat.

>stealth killing spree

Happy with this carnage, you can't contain a slight giggle of hysteria. You killed them. So many. And they were not even aware of your presence. Bringing a hand to your belly to contain your laugh you notice some blood. Your second target actually managed to deliver a blow, cutting open your stomach. A pool of blood is starting to form around you and the last pikeman, startled by your giggle, is starting to smash randomly on the deck to hit the invisible enemy.

He has no idea where we are exactly. We can drink the potion, and get a dodge off easy since he's just randomly striking at the deck with the halberd. He must feel pure terror. 6 men, disturbed from sleep to investigate a ship some lunatic rammed into the Noble District. Down to 1. 5 comrades, dropped by an unseen foe. No way will he be able to keep his cool. The most he has on us is due to the laugh, and the vague direction it came from. He's likely to just tire himself out in a panic.

Seeing him raising his halberd for a final fatal blow, you bring the red phial to your mouth. As you gulp down the liquid, this makeshift guillotine about to fall down on you appear more clearly through the glass. He has no idea where you are, but the pool of blood is a clear indication.

So every one of your point except the last one are great. I am fully in favor of becoming a medieval magitech snow flame expy ripping and tearing our way to save the city. Also, a coca+poppy+healing potion recipe sounds like it would let us flex on the Champion of Sol. Until our heart explodes at least. And don't we need to pick up out cleaver from the smith? I bet stealing the ambassadors bow would have netted us like everything in that dwarf's shot in trade in retrospect.

>rolled 22, clear success

As tempting as a roll would be in this situation, you take into consideration the pool of blood under you and how it may reveal your future position and just leap to another position. The halberd breaks some planks of the deck and quickly raise again for another strike.

"What's going on here?" a voice asks in your back

The Militiamen surrounding the boat, alerted by one of your victim's scream, are now on board. And they carry rifles. You managed to get out of reach of the pikeman but the situation isn't looking good and your chance of smuggling the gorilla out of here are getting slimmer by the minute.

What do?
>dive in the canal and get to a tunnel where your loot is

Well since we already lost the Elven dagger for what I think is a very dumb reason,

>Wait somewhere until enough militia are around/on board that we arent going to be immediately found out by the direction our voice is coming from and try to blame the elves, citing the dagger as proof. Basically become a voice in the crowd and try and incite the militia men.

Also having to specify that we arn't going to use a valuable item vs a common one where Alfonso has a reasonable expectation that it may be lost seems kinda mean. Like if he, IC had the option to use a normal dagger vs a much better quality one in that situation I dont see any reason to have him use the Elven dagger like that.

Oh well.

His love of rare weapons didn't even cross my mind during that vote. That's a shame. Hopefully we can get a chance to put those documents to good use.
Bonus Points:
Speed tastes like cat piss smells.
By pioneering amphetamines in this setting, you are advocating for demihuman rights because nobles could get their fix without having to pay a catgirl prostitute to piss on them.
If the catgirl prostitutes are made obsolete, there will be no demand for them, and in turn no opportunity for another organ harvester to surface.
You guys DO support rights for catgirls, right?

You got enough of this. Picking up your knives while you still can, you get to the engine room where some coal is still burning. After waiting silently for an hour, crafting devious scheme to demoralize them or using the phonograph trap you are all warmed up. Emerging from a pile of coal in the engine room to put your plan to execution, you consider your options. It's 4 AM, the sun will rise in four hours, you are exhausted and six new fresh pikemen are guarding the deck, denying you access to the cargo bay.

What are you going to do with that gorilla anyway. You don't even know how you are going to transport it. Is it alright? Shouldn't you feed it your last healing potion? Maybe you can close back its cage with a new lock.

"Don't leave me hanging like that." a raspy feminine voice taunts you

It's Donna Francesca Quattroriocche, or simply 'Franz', the leader of the Militia. She locks your had under her armpit, dangerously close to her exposed chest behind her opened gambeson. Bringing you down with her in the coal as her laugh explode in the room you can't believe how easily she found you, even with the ignored potion. And more importantly, is she a friend of a foe?

You befriended the tomboyish woman some time ago after defeating her. She's just an ex-adventurer looking for a thrill and a way to fulfil her addiction to healing potion. She was referring to how you let her hanging at the reception in the Embassy after she helped you. Agonizing on your back, you raise your head to stare at her face. She is looking down on you on this improvised coal mattress, almost like a lover.

"Ciao Alfonso." she smiles in a good mood "What are you doing crashing a boat in my District?"
"Y-You..." you stutter
"I can help you out of this but remember that you already owe me a fight... Shall we do it?"

"What happened to the Embassy?" you inquire "You are already back?"
"Of course" she shrugs "your little fire really triggered them. You should have seen the face of the Ambassador, it was as if someone burned down their World-Tree."

She holds her flank laughing and kicking the air with her feet raised while still lying down on the coal mattress. This is revealing a new aspect of her personality you didn't know, almost childlike or maybe just her usual carelessness.

"Bene... But how did you find me?"
"Well it's... how do I say it..." she spends some time finding her words and finally say "maybe it's love."

You don't answer and feel an awkward silence coming. Before you even end this embarrassing moment, another of her laugh surprise you.

"Ha ha ha! Mona... It's probably my luck you know... I just thought about you and stumbled on something that was invisible a moment ago. Once you touch, the effect of your potion disappear you know."

"Yeah about that, I guess I was right to spare you. I don't want to see them forcing a whole crowd into the canal ever again. So, about the Doge."
"You know... I grew up with the opera about his discovery of the New World"
"Conquest of the Paradise?"
"Yeah that one. And my family is part of the Warmonger faction so it was like... natural... Don't you have heroes too Alfonso?"

This heart-to-heart conversation was unexpected from Franz. She might wear very revealing clothes, her inner sanctum is still hard to penetrate. In some ways, you are similar to her, or at least your worlds collide. She wants to be an adventurer, you want to be a hero. She fancies the man who inspired the hero from her childhood's favourite play and you were made into a character for another play.

Do you want to reveal your dreams to her?

"The ship exploded and a canon ball was projected in the Craftsmen District."
"Did..."
"Nah. Nobody died. But we evacuated the building which caused some refugee to come to the Workers District."

That makes sense with what you already knows. Finally, you a relieved from a weight on you consciousness. She has used this trick to take advantage from you in fights. Even if she is sympathetic to you, in the case the Doge tells her to kill you she will probably use it again.

"Hmmm... About the beast in the cargo bay."
"Did you saw it?! It's freaking huge, by Sol. What is this?"
"It's called a gorilla."
"Can you get it out of here for me?"

When do we have to help with the gorilla, and when do we have to attend the college session with don Giovanni? I'd like to do a fair bit between them, but it all depends on how much time we have.

Also my own personal list of our priorities over the next few days:
>Kill the elven ambassador
>Arrange things for the monkeys and gorilla (probably food mostly)
>Grab stuff to ensure that everyone at home doesn't starve to death or something equally stupid
>Everything else
This is just our priorities for the next few days, we can grab loot and do stuff like the alcohol when we have time afterwards.

>attend the College session with Don Giovanni as his bodyguard

Hopefully with the travel artifact we will have time for all this. If not we can adjust. But we really need the Gorilla and to keep our word with the Don. If there is a chance someone needs to feed the 4 monkeys we hid so they don't die or freeze.

If we don't have time due to sleeping maybe we can eat then use some coca leaves to reduce fatigue?

What a day. You killed the captain of the Elven Commandos, a pyromancer from the Inquisition, got sewing machines for the Tailor, attended a reception, crashed a boat and triple dated three women. At peace with today's event, you have a nap on the pile of coal.

Your exit the cabin, cloaked in darkness and carrying a scythe. Reaping the life of each Militiaman on your path in total silence as progress on the deck. Oh, it's one of those dream again. You giggle, delighted by the power bestowed upon you. You are the night, you are the vengeance, you are death. On the stem of the ship, three women cries, kneeling. The three women you betrayed. Lisa, who you told to come to the reception despite already having a partner. Lula who was surprised by Franz interruption. And most surprisingly Franz too who never mentioned being upset by your utterance toward polygamy, but maybe that was just a facade.

The darkness surrounding you evaporate, revealing your naked body for the remaining Militiamen. They pierce you from all angle with their halberd, gutting you like a fish on the main deck. You wake up.

Physical 65 (+5)
Mental 45
Social 40 (-10)

This nightmare really made you feel like a horrible person. You gather your thoughts and belonging, ready to head outside. Surprisingly, no Militiaman is guarding the boat. There are just two pikemen on the deck around a fire to forbid the access. You feel warm thanks to the dying fire of the steam engine and decide to focus on the monkeys. Unlike you, they didn't eat yesterday.

It's 7AM, the Blacksmith should be open and you can probably pass as someone with an essential job to bypass the self-quarantine order or just rely on the effect of the ignored potion.
>go to the Blacksmith to retrieve the cleaver
>go to the Tailor to fix the costume

>order some restraints at the Blacksmith
>maybe Susanna can cast the Tartarus chains on him

Also, to make some cash, you can gather some plants to sell at the Apothecary. But you don't know the price of these raw materials. As long as you have access to this virtually unlimited amount of plants, it does not matters anyway.

+2 poppy, quiquina, eucalyptus, söy, citrus, chamomile, saffron, coca
-10 loaded to some actions

You leave the boat without problem. It stopped snowing but the thick white blanket on the dock is enough to act as a cushion. Loaded with sample from all sort of plants, you take the direction of the Craftsmen District.

The sun has risen, but the City is still silent. The first rays of light are enough to melt away the snow on the rooftops and not make you freeze to death. But with this rag you call a costume on you it will not take long for hypothermia to kick in or worst, relapsing. After stumbling on some frozen bodies in the Tailor's street, you notice a pattern. They seem to surround the shop you send Mario to.

"Hey Mario!" you wave at the rooftop

And indeed, your companion is already hard at work, sniping any looters with his rifle.

"Alfonso!" he exclaims "Che cazzo! What happened?"

The Tailor rushes out of his shop and almost faint seeing what you did with his creation. Covered in blood and coal dust, with a large cut around the belly. The costume totally ruined beyond repair. You don't have enough gold on you to buy anything, but you can sell things from your inventory. Also, since you are such a good client and kept your promises he is ready to offer you a deal.

"I can't let you go back like that dear customer." he says horrified
"Why?" you ask clueless
"The cold, what the Militia will say, your dignity, my reputation, th-"
"Bene I get it, what is your proposition?"
"Your friend here is doing and excellent job and I pay him 16 masks and gloves per day. I can change today salary for a wool tunic and leather clothes. It won't protect you from extreme cold and only half a day from severe cold. You will need to warm yourself at noon."

You also get a free mask.

"Take care Alfonso." Mario wave his rifle at you

Apparently, sniping on the rooftops is his natural habitat. Good, he finally found a purpose in life and thanks to him, the Tailor can deliver a steady supply of masks and gloves to the City.

relationship with Mario restored

After another hour of walking, the grey clouds are replaced by a clear blue sky and the vivid sound of melted snow running down the drainage pipe. If it was not for the cold, you could swear spring just started. The Blacksmith shop is covered in yesterday's edition of La Stampa.

La Stampa Public Edition Vinteduesimo : Winter is here

As all of you noticed winter is here. We still don't know how the month of Charon will end since the weather forecast machine is broken. The City advise all citizen to stay home to protect themselves from the cold and the disease.

An alarming number of children has gone missing so it should be another argument for everyoen to stay indoor, unless you live in the Workers District. If you already received the daily ration from the Elves, don't open the door again. Rogue units are rampaging the district, acting like death squard to avenge the death of their captain

"Who goes here?!" the fully armoured Dwarf surprise you
"Point that halberd away from me, please. I had my share." you answer, tired of threat and having your life in danger
"Oh, it's you. I have your cleaver... You're really sure you want it? It has become a nice weapon now. I kind of want it for my collection."
"You are sick master-Dwarf."
"These are all essential weapons! For the great happening!"

+1 butcher's cleaver (+10 damage)

The Blacksmith has amassed quite an arsenal in his shop despite being forbidden to sell weapons. His mental disease pushing some Dwarves to collect items (being gold in some case, weapons, music instruments, beer...) has driven mad to the point he is ready to defy this restriction imposed by the City. You try to spot any blood on the halberd he is wielding but can't find any, maybe it's not too late.

"I met your dad at the Embassy." you say to start a conversation
"Whatever." he abruptly ends it

Wow, this young Dwarf needs to be taught some manner on how to respect his elders. Is he thinking about nothing but his 'revolution'? You move onto a more important matter.

"Can you make explosive devices?" you try

He suddenly let go of his halberd and grab you by the collar to bring you at eye level.

"Why do you think I asked you about the Codex, Human?" He almost head-butted you "Once I decipher the Manifesto I will have every recipe of guerilla warfare."
"Bene, bene, let go now." you dust off your newly acquired clothes "I wanted to use it on a very important Elf."
"Bwahahaha! You think you can kill that freak with just a bomb? Bwahahaha!"

He keeps laughing for long minutes before returning in his shop. That's one more argument to get his Codex. Your fingers are starting to feel numb from the cold already. You blow some hot air in your hand, watching the fog leaving your mouth and get to the Apothecary.

Despite the sun bathing the street with light, nobody is opening their shutters. All marked with a white cross. The words of Franz resonate deep within you "every household is infected" "population will be halved". What does it even mean to halve a population? Just cut the City in two and toss one part into the ocean? When the casualties are too high, it's nearly impossible to picture the tragedy it implies. One's mental health is not prepared for that.

"Welcome, Human." a disgusting deep sea Fishman is behind the counter of the Apothecary shop
"Please, let me handle the customer service." the usual lady in charge of the shop begs him
"Silence woman! You got robbed. Made Lady Barielle angry. Now we rule shop."

Indeed, you waited too long to stop the Organ Harvester and the store was attacked by people who thought they manufactured elixirs against the plague with Demihumans parts, also she got raped. After an angry gurgle from the Fishman the lady returned to the backshop, mentally broken.

"So, I wanted to sel-" you start
"Everything for five shiny coins, Human." he interrupts you

The woman in the back face palm herself at the ridiculous price the Fishman is charging for high quality elixir. They really have no sense of business like the foreigner woman. You try to explain him you want to sell and not buy, this take some time, but he finally understands.

"Everything for five shiny coins." he repeats

What a dumb fish, and you can't negotiate anything with him, of course. All your plants for 5 gold coins.
>yes
>yes, but keep the poppy for the Gorilla
>no

"No gold, no soap." the Fishman says

Of course, you didn't even have gold because you refused the offer. You leave the shop and the Craftsmen District, avoiding the Disinfection Camp that grew with more tents and fires despite the cold. Militia still has their canons pointed on every bridge to prevent mass escape. Inside, infected covered in frozen rags use makeshift clutch or crawl on the ground after loosing some limbs due to Stage Three. It's hard to convince yourself you are looking at Humans.

You pass the bridge under the mockeries of the riflemen calling you a 'finocchio' or 'Franz's gigolo', pikemen even spank you as you pass under them with their stilts. At least you don't have to fight or bribe anyone to pass it. The real problem is ahead. Now that you entered the Workers District, you notice that a quarter of the house have turned into smoking rubbles. It's the knife-ears, you rage. With a decisive pace, you rush to your home, but your determination shatters on the ground as your approach the 'cages'.

"GARGGL"

That was the last word of a presumed 'terrorist' captured by the Elves. You always wondered what epic final punch line you could deliver before dying, but you never thought something so pathetic, so horrifyingly crude could be the last moment of someone. His arms are twisted in a painful embrace on his own skeletal body, his legs jerked frenetically like a puppet which string have been cut loose. He was impaled on a tree, the branches obstructing his mouth. A typical Elven torture, they probably used magic to make the tree grow faster.

Running even faster, but this time like a desperate madman, you arrive at your house, climb the steps and slam the door of the apartment.

It would be the perfect food for the monkeys you think, but any more weight than that and Arthur or you won't be able to carry anything left without behind slowed down by y our load. You dress up Arthur with the norther explorer outfit, which trigger a laugh from his sister.

"Pffff-ha ha ha, look at, it's not even your size!" the thief girl point at him
"Shut your trap. now it's my time to shine." he corrects her
"Melie." you ask "Can you read these documents?"
"Yeaj, Melie." Arthur smugs at her "Show Alfonso how clever your are."

The street urchin is unsurprisingly illiterate, not even speaking of Elvish. As for Arthur, he can't do better than you. If only you still had Amicia with you are asked Don Giovanni... Outside the weather has warmed up a little, but not enough so that you could spend a whole day outside in your current clothes without relapsing.

Weather condition
Severe cold
Clear sky
No wind

On your way to the Industrial District, you find the Ratflok shivering near a poster of La Stampa.

La Stampa Public Edition Ventitreesimo :

It appears that the kidnapping of many children in the City was caused by a savage Lizardman. The large creature was last seen in the Office District and we urge the inhabitant to avoid him at any cost. A careful examination of its victim revealed that they suffered the most terrible death at his hand, some parts missing on their body near bites attributed to the Lizardman.

The reception at the Embassy has been short-lived as fire was declared in the Ambassador's apartment. Several guards were found dead over the place but no culprit was apprehended. This humiliating slap in the face of the Elven noble will probably causes more retaliation in the Worker District.

"G-G-Greetings." he front teeth chatters
"Bongiorno" you answer "I was wondering if you could keep me informed about what is happening in the Cemetary. Particularly the movement of the Inquisition."
"F-Fine. The Solar Knight have started exploring the C-Catacombs. They even brought the surviving children of the North-South urban guerilla."
"Children?"
"Y-Yeah, the Church turned them into Sol's Champion with all the miracles coming with the title t-th-thanks to four weeks of fights and near death experience."
"And the Great Inquisitor?
"H-He and some pyromancer left for the Cemetary t-to-too..."

Great, now you will have to fight against a bunch of kids who get stronger each time they are injured and several pyromancers, as for the Great Inquisitor you don't really know anything more than Lisa told you. He is a powerful pyromancer and can command an army of fanatics. There is also that Solar Knight you left alone all this time, a knight without mercy.

"I want to make elixirs, can you help me find a book for that?"
"W-Why w-wo-wo-wo-would there be a book for that? Books are for more esoteric recipes like alchemy. Y-You should ask an Apothecary or m-maybe investigate Mr. Goodhealth's factory."

Since you are already heading to the Industrial District, you can pass by the factory once you 'rescued' the beast. Even bring the gorilla here. Or if you find a better place, you can still ask Mr. Goodhealth himself, still enthralle by Lady Barielle.

About that factory
>you will bring the gorilla to the Elixir factory
>you will find another place and ask Mr. Goodhealth

"Then, do you know anything about the Nautilus?"
"T-Th-That underwater boat? O-Of course I made an article about it and interviewed Da Costa."
"Where is it manufactured? And where are the blueprints?"
"Parts can be easily assembled from different provider for Dwarven subcontracts in the Industrial District. That's all the genius behind Da Costa's creation. Everything is about the assembling process."
"And the blueprint?"

The Ratfolk indicates you where the parts are produced in the Industrial District. You will need a whole day to assemble all the parts alone from different places. And you have no idea how put them together. Maybe Captain Rakham can help you shorten the gathering to half a day.

Finally, you exit the Workers District, leaving behind the forest of impaled terrorists with some still barely alive. You can't help but feel a little responsible for what is happening in the Workers District since you killed the lunatic but paradoxally less bloodthirsty captain.

"Hey Alfonso." Arthur pulls your sleeve "About Ingothide&Son vault."
"Oh yeah, you were supposed to rob the place with Melie."
"The bank was initially build by Human only the opening of the vault is Dwarf-made, so I thought that maybe an explosive on the outside of the bank could work."
"Nicely thought."
"Or you can use Melie's help. I'm the brain, she's the arms... well and fingers too. She really has a gift when it comes to opening safe."

You take a mental note for the next time you get to the Office District where the bank is, you should get Melie with you are explosives. Once you finally arrive at the Cannery, you are startled by a group of Fishmen carrying a whale to the factory. On the side of the building, Militiamen are trying to order the Fishmen to bring the wounded gorilla inside. The perfect occasion for you.

"Bongiorno everyone." you greet them "I was send by Franz to take it from here."
"You took your sweet time gigolo. I'm done with this stinky hair beast."

He gives a last kick to the unconscious gorilla and leave with his fellow comrades. And now... Now you have to deal with huge beast, several time you weight in raw muscle, unconscious and badly injured. You have no idea of how you are going to move it and only brought poppy to retrain him.

>I also want to
oops, I wanted to prepare molotovs with the leftover rum once we make the gel for the hospital

On the subject of the bomber, I do not think we've done anything to investigate since looking at the graffiti in the Industrial District.
We had really shitty rolls around then, and got shit leads from it.
The alchemist is gone, and we cannot show our face at the South Slums due to attacking them. We can't really question anybody who may have sold an explosive.
Unless we can speak to the gnomes when we head up to the airship to see Da Costa.
I think our best bet for continuing the investigation would be to ask Franz about what she knows. I'm certainly missing something.
>>4305290
>>yes (You, Arthur)
>yes
>>4305295
(Optionnal) Anything you want as a preparation to the fight in the Catacombs?
Molotovs would be a great idea. We'll eventually get past the Inquisitorial forces and meet the undead they're dealing with, and we're no where close to the Sol alignment necessary for pyromancy, so firebombs it is. We'll probably have to make our own alcohol with potatoes rather than using the rum however. Rum's actual alcohol content is pretty low, I doubt it would actually be very flammable. We could try to just find another flammable substance to use as a substitute.
Additionally, we could maybe rally some of the older members of the Cult of Charon to help fight the Inquisition off.
Alphonse did not specify which side the surviving child soldiers belonged to. Assuming it is survivors from both sides, could we potentially try to respark the tensions and get them fighting again in the cemetery?
If the Grand Inquisitor is there, he is final boss tier. We'll want some attack potions and coca/saffron elixir to counteract that modifier. He should be a massive threat at range, but if we can get close for melee he'll be laughable. We could try to get our Charon alignment up to use stealth miracles, or just use an ignored potion.
Maybe get the gorilla bound to our will with tartarus chains, and use it as a battle mount? Maybe get a halberd from the militia to use as a lance? Charge into battle on a coked up silverback.
Or we could try to find that lizardman and redirect his child chomping toward the slums children in the cemetery. Either as an ally in the fight itself, or something to thin their ranks before our actual attack.
>>>you will bring the gorilla to the Elixir factory
Maybe we can try to search for something we missed while looking into the graffiti while we move to Goodhealth's? Moving a sedated gorilla across a district with no clear destination in mind would be such a fuckaround. Goodhealth's is probably the best option.
>>4305297

>I feel like the Grand inquisitor and the Sol's champion are not going to be the boss battle
Definitely not the main spectacle in the catacombs, no. Just as the Kraken is the main boss in the sea route, but the Ambassador still counts as a final boss roll wise.

Shoving the poppy buds down its mouth, avoiding the sharp white incisives, you then pour the healing potion and watch as the now fully healed beast rise from its snow blanket with a roar, enraged and out of control. After some more movements, the beast slows down, staggers and stop moving. Its breath slowed down. You use this opportunity to use one of the rope of the Fishmen to put it on leash and lead it toward Mr. Goodhealth elixir factory. The gorilla follows you obediently.

The place is filled with copper tanks and reeks of alcohol despite no ingredient in sight. you notice a complex series of pipes and a main boiler. One tank is open with a broom inside, a technician left without finishing its job, this could be the perfect place to restrain the gorilla once closed. You lure the creature inside and are abou to close the hatch, but before leaving.

After finishing your business here, you can finally get to captain Rakham home in the Workers District. It's 1PM, so he should be sober by now. You take a mental note of several things you need to do before entering the Catacombs, considering what Alphonse told you. First, maybe you are as talented as Franz with Spirit and don't know it yet, better ask Don Giovanni about it. Then completing your arsenal with incendiary device would be a good start even if you are already fighting pyromancers. The idea of mounting a Tartarus chain-bound gorilla with a halberd cross your mind and you laugh maniacally. You can even use Lisa's precious students to fight for you. Thinking about them, you can't find any trace of the cultist bomber graffitis in the district. But, the bomber probably made as much damage as he could already.

On your way, you witness two Elves maintaining a civilian over a tree sprout, each by pulling one the arm. Meanwhile another Elf is chanting an incantation.

They are going to impale him, you can't just ignore it, it's your fault!

The caster. The chanting one. We cracked a zealot's ribs and put him out of commission with a single throw. Somebody probably juiced up on Inner Strength. An elf won't stand a chance.

Are you certain this is a good idea? From last thread's discussion with Lisa:
>"Ah... him." she closes her fan hitting her palm "Nicholas de Hauteroche, hero of the crusades, a Sol's Champion you should not underestimate."
>"No, I need this. He burned the old sanctuary. I barely managed to escape. This monster only cares about Sol's will or the Church by proxy. He will do whatever it takes, even killing children."
>"Is that why he is guarding the Warzone?"
>"He is probably recruiting an army of Sol's Champions."
>What terrible news. So, all this time, children rushing to the battlefield against their own brothers with the promise of being instantly healed by the priests was just to nurture Sol's Champions?
>"I can only say that the man behind the Northern crusade should not be taken lightly. The Inquisition was dying because of rapid industrialization, he jumped on the opportunity to restore faith and thus the magic powers."
Inquisition seems pretty fucked, man. I can't really get behind leaving either of them in power, but would support some kind of reform. We haven't really seen anybody else fit to lead them, so that doesn't really seem like an option to me. Unless we decide to try to rise up and lead it ourselves at the end of the quest, but I doubt that'd really gain traction. You're the Sol guy, I'm the Charon guy. Not really sure where the rest of the players stand on the matter.

Hm. I did not think of going for the poppy recipe, it may be a good move due to the need to sedate the gorilla. I had wanted to go with Saffron due to the need for a way to boost mental for ranged combat. We know alcohol is a base ingredient in elixir, needed for all recipes. Hopefully they all follow a very similar manufacturing process with the only variable being the plant being used in the elixir.

I should clarify here. I realize we can already sedate it, but deeding it raw, unrefined poppy in unknown dosages may have negative effects down the line. An elixir should be a safer alternative until we can get a more permanent solution in the picture. Either way, having access to a dedicated painkiller that is not dependent on our Sol alignment/miracles would be a great help.

He is aiming for your guts with a dagger as long as the one at your belt. With the right upward motion he could have tingled your heart with the tip of his arrow, destroying your lung in the process and in any case, seriously endangered your spine. With only a medium healing potion, the two possibility are far more than you can handle.

Thankfully, you made a clear cut into his wrist, forcing him to let go of the dagger. However, something very unusual happened with the other commando. Despite loosing his hand and needing a large healing potion, he drank his medium one and snatched the other potion of his comrade. The effect of the first potion only partially regrew his hand, just like Valentina's arm. A transparent appendices filled with clear liquid and two apparent veins as well as a fully regrow bone.

Kicking away the Elf before you like you open a door when carrying a bag of meat in your shop, you get ready finish the one running away. The cleaver hurls away in the cold air as you extend your body to throw it at full strength. Its rotating motion as well as the momentum given thanks to the heavy handle get it lodged halfway in his skull. Wearing your cleaver like a hair ornament, the Elf staggers, makes several steps sideways with limp arms and falls forward.

The last enemy on the ground has reached the dagger he let go earlier and is pointing it upward in your direction, still on the ground. The anger in his eyes as well as some words he starts to mumble is starting to give birth to an ice sheet around his dagger. You are not having any of this and throw your flick knives on the immobilized knife-ears.

It does not take long to get to Rakham house, more like a small shed for his steam boat, more like a very small yacht. Because of the heavy snorting you hear from inside, you conclude he is probably living inside. This is pretty cozy.

*KNOCK KNOCK*

"Billions of bilious blue blistering barnacles in a thundering typhoon" he starts rumbling after hitting his head "Who is the miserable slug, the scoundrel, the sea gherkin who wakes me up in the middle of a nice dream."
"Bongiorno captain." you greet him
"Oh, it's you Alfonso." he rejoyces "So early in the morning?"
"It's the afternoon, captain."
"Really? If only I had my share of alcohol at the Embassy I swear I wouldn't have resorted to this last resort." he points at the empty bottles inside "Be come in."

You warm up near his steam engine. The steamboat is large enough for six persons and more can stand outside, or you can also put cargo here. You look at the alarmingly low reserve of Iceburst Stone, the ship probably has enough for one day before being unable to move.

"Monkeys?" Rakham laughs "Are you opening a zoo?"
"It's a serious matter, captain." you highlight "I need them to work on a cure."

After explaining about your quest for the Philosophal Stone, he concedes to help you and cast-off the ship to depart for the Dead Zone. The engine has a very unique design, it's not powering a paddle like the Mr. Goodhealth's trading ship. Arthur acute thief hearing get startled by random explosions, all coming from the engine, but the captain assures you that everything is normal. What a strange device. The steamboat leave the shed for the canals.

Once you arrive near the Dead Zone, you are surprised by the silence. No more swarms of rats squeaking but also no trace of holy fire to keep them inside the area. It's almost too easy getting the cage from the Clocktower to the steamboat. All four can be placed on the main deck. The monkeys are still alive, freezing and weakly screaming, but alive.

Before leaving you notice, the giant man in his strange armour/diving suit. He is sitting against a wall, his sledge hammer on his lap and the small glass opening of his helmet open. There is a biting mark on his leg.

"No. Don't enter the Dead Zone." he warns you as weakly as the monkeys screamed "You will get infected, it spread with the ashes... n-no, what was it already... ah yes, it's a curse! As soon as you look in the eyes of a dead, you will get infected."

Alphonse warned you that some people spread fake news and you fell for it the first time. It delayed the scavenging opportunities for the Dead Zone and now he is probably protecting his loot.

What do?

"That time I lost my arm and Melie stole four small healing potions to fully regrow it. This is when I got torched saving Melie from a trap in some ruins. And that..."
"And how did you uh... become orphans?"
"Like all orphans." he put his clothes back up "War."
"So your parents were soldiers?"
"Nah, not really. We were part of a sutlers caravan following an army, they were travelling merchants. It's highly profitable but it comes with its own risks. One defeat and you end up with the rear guard under the enemy's fire."
"I, uh..."
"It's ok, Alfonso. That sort of things happens." he shrugs "When dream of conquest and huge battle come to mind, one rarely think about the civilians it affects. In war, not everyone is a soldier. You are a little embarrassed about lecturing him on his future. He has done remarkably well until now. Maybe he was so calm despite missing three fingers because it was not his first time. On the trip back, you switch to the captain after dealing with the diving suit.

"Aren't you running short on Iceburst Stones, captain?" you ask
"Ah, you noticed?" he bites his pipe "Not going to lie here, there won't be enough fuel for tomorrow."
"So the Iceburst Stone in the engine is really the last one you have."
"I planned to use the boat as a floating house until I can get my hand on more fuel and just burn wood in the heater to warm myself."
"You need more?"
"One Iceburst Stone burns for eight hours, it's enough for one day of work."

There goes your chance of gathering all the parts of the Nautilus in half a day. At least you can forward all your Iceburst Stones to Rakham if your community decide to live here or rely on Susanna pyromancy to cook and warm up.

"I've never seen a steamboat like that captain."
"Argh, glad you ask boy. This engine was designed by my dear friend Tornelli Piccardi da Costa, il professore!"
"There are no paddles, how does it move."
"Aha! He calls it a turbine. It's an helix in the axe of the ship, exactly like the Dwarven Airship."
"The savant is fascinating. He recreated Dwarven technology?"
"No, even better. He thought of it himself. I swear, one day he will bring us all to the moon."

________

The man is rotting away in his suit. Not just a blackface, but he is swimming in his blood and pus and probably more body fluids considering the smell. Knocking on Don Giovanni's mansion get your Bernardo to open the door. Surprised it's not Raphaella you ask the Alchemist about where is the racoon girl. He points to the second floor on top of the huge stairs of the reception hall.

"By the way, Bernardo, I secured four monkeys and a gorilla." you inform
"Excellent." he congratulates you "80,000 doses if we bleed them dry more if we farm them, but..."
"I get it, it will take more time."
"We can depart for the ruins as soon as you are ready. It should take less than a day on a steamboat."

You entered the room where your client is supposed to be only to find him being dressed by Raphaella. Just like Franz, he has always worn very revealing clothes but this time he will be putting a more formal attire. You can also note that he has freshly inked tattoos on his body.

"Buonasera Alfonso." he sighs "Let's get this over with. I doubt I will have any support because of the recent event but thanks to you, I also have an ace up my sleeve."

I agree with this. And the spirit magic. Hopefully we can build trust with Don Giovanni again with time. Possibly if this event works out, maybe more so if we help him improve his devices. Doubt it'll ever return to the level it once was however. Probably not if we end up ultimately going with a different route to end the plague. Which seems like the case.

You instructed Captain Rakham to bring the infected man to your house where he will be treated by Susanna, hoping that a miracle healing will be enough. He made the most heart-breaking sound while being moved. A grown man, almost a giant, whining like a little boy as rotten flesh peeled off his bones. You are glad you will never have to clean that diving suit yourself.

Before departing from the noble's mansion, you want to ask some things in preparation for the College session.

"Don Giovanni" you warn him "I think I have come up with a strategy regarding the Doge."
"Oh?" he looks interested or more likely amused
"Inform him that he is on a very weak position with all the incidents that happened recently, us delivering alcohol gel to the hospital is also gonna be a massive hit since he is putting his money on ending the plague by letting the people die."
"Really Alfonso." he is holding back a laugh a hand on his mouth to not embarrass you "Leave politic to politicians."
"What? but..."
"Less Humans workers means an increase in slave trade. He has never been more powerful and the nobles family respect that. It's not like half of the Noble District is going to disappear either." he switch to a more sinister tone "When they say half of the City it's more like ninety percent of the commoners and a tenth of the nobles."
"But that's horrible."
"That's politic. Since where were you under the impression that public opinion matters? Beside, the faction I formed is in ever worse position since we advocated for Demihuman rights as a mean to get back the job to Humans."
"A-Ah... yeah..."
"How do you think they see the leader of that faction now that his butter has been found out to be a Demihuman murderer?"
"S-Sorry about that."
"Well, it's not like we do this because racoon girls are incredibly pretty." he hand-kisses Raphaella who finished putting his costume "Neither because we want every Human to have a decent job. Some companies are loosing money because of the change in the workforce and that is all."

Raphaella left the room blushing. So, these people are really sly bastardo. You are not even sure why Don Giovanni is doing all this. Is he a humanist? Maybe he really wants that Demihuman paradise in the New World? Or is it just power?

"Sure" but he accepts "Give me your hand."

You do that.

"It's trash." he concludes
"What?"
"Your affinity. Maybe just, maybe you have a very small affinity with an elemental spirit but it's completely useless. You should give up."
"Wait, are you mocking me because I revealed your secret?"
"Alfonso, I studied among the Faeries and I take Spirits very seriously."
"I see. But how is it possible?"
"First, it's hereditary just like most of Arcane Magic knowledge is passed down each generation of noble through their libraries. Then, sometimes it's just that spirits don't like you. Someone who's personality shift from one extreme to another is not fit to bond with a Spirit."

Using a standard gondola, you have to row yourself to conduct him to the Ducal Palace, the Don is smirking seeing you struggle. A well deserved revenge for betraying him and a very merciful one. Snow starts to fall again from a now fully clouded sky, adding to your torment. The sun has passed beyond the horizon, the only lights around are your Mystical Stone lantern and the lights of the Ducal Palace.

It's becoming even harder to distinguish the form of the building, a storm is coming and snowflakes are obstructing your field of vision like a swarm of insects dancing in the wind. They started forming an ice sheet on the ink-black sea. A cold sweat runs down your spine.

"Don't worry Alfonso." he reassures you "It's just an assassination attempt."
"'just' you said?" you exclaim

The Don raises his hands and starts calling his guardian Spirit. You have learned a lot about magic in the past few weeks. First the Divine Magic that you can now practice, calling on Sol for a few miracles per day depending on how you act according to his gospel. Then, the Arcane Magic including alchemy and strange devices like the kind Don Giovanni is fond of. And more rarely, these Spirit Magic that Elves are expert of. You know about the Spirit of Luck of Franz, of Wind, Fire and maybe Water through the Elven Commandos, what can be is guardian spirit?

"Lightning!" he ends his chant

Thunder roars in the sky and strike several places around the wood gondola. Startled by this deluge of noise and light, you let go of the oars and curl up instinctively. And to think you were messing with this man before.

"It's over Alfonso."

Several bodies are surfacing, face in the water, smoking. You notice the plank of the gondola have been burned by strange branches patterns, something you already saw on mast after storm.

"And beside, we are already here."

A heavily armored unit of Militiamen is waiting for you. Fully covered in plate armrors from tip to toes, they are even wearing chainmails over a gambeson. You don't want to mess with these gentlemen and they don't want to mess with Don Giovanni either.

You are both conducted, as if nothing ever happened, through the hallways of the Ducal Palace. A large building surrounding a courtyard reminding you of a cloistre or a castle. The guards, all wearing a gold-engraved winged-lion as a crest are moving in tight formation all around you. It's unclear if their job is to protect you or intimidate you.

Finally, you made it to a small room with a massive red oak table. At one end there is this large bearded man with a powerful gaze. You can't help but avoid his stare despite him only looking at your client.

"Don Giorgio Giovanni, the lightmaker, representing the pro-Demihuman faction!" a man screams

You didn't notice the Chamberlain and jerked in panic, unlike Don Giovanni who sustained the gaze of that man, showing only contempt on his face. He chooses to sit in front of him at the other end of the table, waiting for you to pull his chair.

"Don Niccolo Machiaveli of the founding fathers family, representing the Plutocrats faction!"

Meanwhile, another man entered the room, clean shaved head bobbing out of an old-fashioned ruff. His black and red dress makes him relatively insignificant compared to the Doge and even more banal compared to his two bodyguards. Two dark-skinned desert tribes female warriors.

From the beginning he was a noble dandy boy who talks only about his dreams and now he remains the same. Does he left the mansion? As he ever been face to face to a three-stage infected like us?

We're not going to lecture him, but just tell him to be careful. He and his sister deserve something better, and they're not going to get it if they're dead. But also tell him that if he ever needs help he can come to us.

As you pull away the chair for the Don to site, a familiar face enters the room.

"Lady Lisa Cremosa, heir of the Cremosa family replacing her father and representing the Conservative faction!"

You knew she was a noble but never thought her family powerful enough to sit at the same table than the Doge. But what are those 'factions'?

"Uh... Lady Cremosa, where is your honor guard?" the chamberlain hesitates
"Hmpf as if someone like me needs o..."

She stops her sentence upon noticing you. Despite being back to her more mature wizard outfit and dumping the skimpy secretary act or the revealing party dress her heart skiped a beat taking note of your presence. Her eyes clearly show that at least. What is going on in this maiden's heart?

"Donna Francesca Quattroriocche, the uh... do I have to say that?" ask the chamberlain to a another participant
"Yeah, yeah, come on, do it!"
"The... The sexiest and luckiest woman on Earth... representing the Warmonger faction."
"Ah Ah Ah! See you can do it." Franz enters the room surprising almost everyone

Don Machiaveli, the only person you don't know in the room is the first to question her about her presence.

"What are you doing here? This is not a cheap brothel."
"Calm your tits already, Macchi." she jumps on a seat, crossing her boots on the table "That old geezer was too afraid to leave his place, so they appointed me as their representative and I s..."
"Behave." the bearded man in the back simply says

He is obviously the Doge. Franz just lowered her head in silence and after a moment removed her legs from the table. Her? So easily submitted? You are not sure if you are upset, impressed or jealous.

The four heavily armored Militiamen enters the room, their attire clanking with every step, and they place themselves behind the Doge, like a crown of metal.

"Don Cristoforio Dio, Conqueror of Paradise, His Most Serene Doge of the City!" the chamberlain finally presents him
"Let's get this over with, chamberlain."
"As you wish, your most serene."
"Those in favor of the renewal of his most serene mandate, raise your hand."

Everyone does. The Doge, of course, Franz, Machiaveli and even Lisa. Everyone except...

"Uh... Don Giovanni. The vote must be unanimous." the chamberlain explains embarassed
"I know." he answers nonchalantly
"Bwahahaha" the Doge's laugh explodes in the room followed by his men even more irrespectful laugh "Little Giorno wants another spanking, it seems."
"Don Giovanni" warns Machiaveli "You managed to gather a faction in quite a record time but even if we open election, you know you have no chance of winning."
"His butler killed Demihumans and he pretends to like them!" the Doge continues
"His most serene is right." Machiaveli nodes "If you can't keep your own men in line, how are we supposed to entrust the City to you?"

This Machiaveli has not straight refused Don Giovanni candidacy, it's more like he is finding excuse for himself. Don Giovanni stands up in defiance, leaning forward on the table toward the Doge.

"What if I tell you I have a cure for the plague?" he declares

Lisa smirks, looking at you. She doesn't know about Bernardo and other routes for the cure. Does she think you are going to sell her method to Don Giovanni? Franz simply looks bored, rocking on her chair. And this Machiaveli... is howfully attentive.

"Please continue." he concedes to Don Giovanni
"I can cure the plague." Don Giovanni continues "What can our Doge do beside letting giving away part of the City to the Inquisition and the Elves?"

The Doge throws a bunch of banknotes to Don Giovanni's face. You recognize the crest of several banks, but they are mainly coming from Ingothide&Son.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYeDsa4Tw0c

"I have made the Dwarf money worthless. Their most prized accomplishment, a universal token of exchange amongst the nation, worthless because that quarantine."
"Good." Don Giovanni comes back "So now they pay us in gold, so what?"
"And what if I can make their gold worthless too?"

Suddenly, something clicks in your head. The Philosopher Stone. Ingothide&Son. The Quarantine. The Fall of the Dwarven Fortress. The Revolution. The Inquisition. The Crusade. Too much information.

"I know what you are up to Giorginoccio... As soon as you leave the City I will know where to get that Philosopher Stone."

Everyone agrees to this unusual competition for the sake of the City, just a mean to get rid of this unpleasant meeting. Dinner is finally served after the necessary paperwork is done. You almost drool over Don Giovanni's shoulder looking at the roasted duck and oranges. Two of the Doge's guards have left to rest or eat and one of Machiavelli bodyguard too.

"Hey you." Franz raise her cup at your address "Fetch me some whine, boy."
"This is not your servant." Don Giovanni protests "You can leave Alfonso, they should be eating in the next room."
"Aww... What's up Giorno? Still angry that I'm stealing all your toys?" she continues at your address "Come on boy, I can reward you." she lifts a duck drumstick

Your jaw drops at the reaction of Don Giovanni. Something extraordinary happens. He adverts her gaze. Just like a shy little boy. You can't believe it.

"Can't you behave more like a lady?" Lisa shuns her "Where is your usual butler now, Don Giovanni?"
"As you all know he left." he explains embarrassed
"I hope you are not planning of discarding this one too, he looks... promising." she sensually slides an orange quarter between her lips and licks her fingers of the duck grease "Say, my dear. Why don't you bring my tissue in my coat just behind you?"

Some very early thoughts about the doge master plan:

We know that he's buddies with Ingothide, or at least using them, we saw them together at the embassy.

The Fall of the Dwarven fortress means that the dwarves are weak, the bankers (currently) rule them and they're now getting screwed over by the elves.

The inquisition is currently perfecting an army of unfeeling, painless zealots who will die for the cause of Sol (or at least what the church says is the cause)

The elves are being massive dicks and need to be wiped out (Not really part of his plan as I know it, just a fact that needs to be said)

The philosophers stone can create anything, including limitless amounts of gold presumably.

Everyone needs money. They just don't always have it.

The sea people are also getting screwed over at the moment as well, so they're essentially out of the equation. Indebted to elves as well I think.

As I see it, the doge is currently scheming to weaken everybody else as much as possible, though I can't quite grasp the ends of his plan. What is certain is that if he gets his hands on the philosopher stone he's going to have both an endless supply of gold and a massive army at his back, ready to do the church's bidding. I don't know what his end goal is, but what I do know is that we need to disrupt his plans as much as possible. To that end I propose we kill the elven ambassador ASAP, get someone to build the submarine, mount an expedition to the ruins, and do all we can to stop the doge.
>>
>>4307281

The guards shove a pint of beer in your hand and pull a smaller barrel for you to sit like them. They are unexpectedly nice, one even cuts some ham with his own dagger for you.

"No need to hold back. We have the easiest job in the city." on says
"Yeah..." the other adds "Being the bodyguard of people like them? Aha... What a joke."
"As if they need us anyway."
"I bet that Machiavelli bastardo just hired some hooker in the Redlight District."
"Man, look at her..." he gulps down his pint staring at the woman

So, you want to ask something the guards. Maybe about his plans, maybe about his abilities.

How do you ask? All Social rolls with modifiers from -50 to +50
>what if I get her in your bed? [DIPLOMACY]
>I have the disease and you just breathed the air I expired, speak if you want that healing potion [INTIMIDATE]

You likely have sugar inside you right now.
>The Doge is in regular communication with Heracles, forwarding the word of Sol to the Church.
He learned Arcane Magic in under a week.
Dwarves entrust their rivet and gear outsourcing production to him. There are no small industries in the Dwarven City, only in our City.
The Doge is 67 years old, from the space-time reference point of the base Human.
In reality, he is a timeless beings existing created by Uranus in all points of time and space from before Terra and Saturn were born.
The Doge will guide humanity into a new age of wisdom, peace and love.
Bingo. I wonder if this is still relevant, if their relations are still going well. Don Giovanni said this:
>"Look at that pamphlet first. A propaganda they used to spread."
Emphasis on used to.

I'm not certain the Elves and the Doge are really working together in some grander plan. The Elves are up to their own dealings.
>The Doge established trade with the Elves, as they did not develop agriculture, they rely on imports from the New World plantations. No imports/harbor, their population starves.
>Elves do not give a FUCK about the workers and humans, made apparent by the crackdown on the Worker's district. Their main concern is the reopening of the harbor, due to their reliance on food imports from the New World
>They want to secure the seas once and for all, from the conversation with Warmbasher.
>Ambassador wants to tame the Kraken together with the Undine. Total naval supremacy? Stranglehold on trade? Who fucking knows. Corym referred to it as "a beast that cannot stop growing."
I think they want to secure the seas to either ensure trade can always proceed uninterrupted, or to depower the Doge and the Thalassocracy.
Either way, I don't believe them to be working together. From what I've gathered from the Doge's plans, I haven't really seen anything he could do to deal with the Elves.
Unless of course they ARE working together, and they want to secure the seas with the Kraken to empower the Thalassocracy. The Doge holds one over the heads of the Elves, as his plantations are responsible for all food exports from the New World. It would make sense for the Elves to try to break out of this stranglehold. They stole the debt contract back in The Fall of a Dwarven Fortress, they're likely up to some schemes in this crisis as well to continue to put themselves in an advantageous position. I don't really seeing them working with the Doge in this. The Ambassador was behind the plan to steal back the debt contract in last quest, I'm fairly certain he would not be out for anything other than furthering his own Elven goals.
Unless I misunderstood, the Elves are paying the Dwarves their debt contract back so the Dwarves build them a submarine. The Dwarves are unhappy with this, but will oblige as the New Dwarven Kingdom's workforce is facing unemployment. The best way we could go about interfering with Elven plans would be to get the debt contract back to the Dwarves before they leave, so they are not obligated to build the submarine, right? This is the most pressing thing we have going on currently, unless Don Giovanni plans on leaving to the Ruins tomorrow or something. (Which may be the case as it seems like it has been made into a competition between his own, and the Doge's campaigns.) I'm still no closer to realizing the Doge's endgame, but I'm certain he is not working with the Elves in this. Despite this, we should still attempt to destabilize the Elves' own plans.
>>
>>4307924
As for the Inquisition, they could have their own plans in this. Seems to be the case, as both the Ambassador and the Doge are up their own schemes. It would make sense for the High Inquisitor to have his own. As for specifics, I have no idea. For goals however, strengthening the church's position is a given. Divine magic is based on the believer's faith. Prior to the Northern Crusade, faith had been waning due to rapid industrialization. The High Inquisitor revitalized it, and with the raiding of the Academy before the quest began, along with other events that have occurred throughout the course of it, it seems like the Inquisition is attempting to continue to do so. They have made an army of zealots. What they plan to use their army for exactly is fairly unclear. I'm sure they still have their own plans to counteract Industrialization and anything that could lessen faith in the Church, Sol, and Divine Magic, but relations to them and the Doge could be possible. Based on this,
>>4307304
>>The Doge is in regular communication with Heracles, forwarding the word of Sol to the Church.
They may see him as a living prophet, and take whatever information he feeds them. He could potentially use their army by proxy. Or, potentially that is outdated, or disproven information, and the Inquisition holds no love for the Doge at all.
The Inquisition's involvement and plans have been kept pretty vague so far, or I'm missing a lot more information. Probably both. We really need to look more into this before deciding on what to do about the Inquisition. The Dwarven faith was mostly destroyed due to the Anvil of Vulcan being left behind in The Fall of a Dwarven Fortress, and in turn the Dwarves became slaves to the Ingothide bankers.
>"You know the source of power of Divine Magic come from the believers' faith. Since we abandoned Vulcan for money we became slave of the bankers. I hope the same will not happen to you if you spread that the sun is not the center of the universe."
This was our warning. We'd do well to heed it. Beyond the possibly similar consequences here, there is the effects on Divine Magic as well. I wonder if the source of power of Divine Magic is from actual, religious worshipers of Sol/Charon, or just believers in general with those with high Sol/Charon alignment being able to cast spells. Worship of Sol must be much more widespread, with Charon only having small pockets of cults and sects. Yet Charon still seems to be pretty powerful. My theory is that worshipers of Sol believe in Charon as well as the rest of the pantheon, they just don't worship or practice the faith of the others. So, if faith/religion all together dies down or wavers, Charon and his side of the pantheon would be effected as well. Or maybe I'm dead wrong. I have no idea.

Good summary on the Elves
>as his plantations are responsible for all food exports from the New World
Don't believe all the propaganda, he own most of the plantations but there are(was) people like Piccoli and Mr. Goodhealth who also own plantation
>paying the Dwarves their debt contract back
they are giving back the contract representing their debt, offering a mean of pressure on them and something that will virtually refund Ingothide&Son banknotes' value, Dwarf (read the Ingothide dynasty) mainly agree to the submarine deal because of that
>from actual, religious worshipers of Sol/Charon, or just believers in general

Drinking to the City's recovery, you and taking your share of cured ham, you get as drunk as your new friends. Your vision and judgment are becoming blurry when you start to talk about the Doge, taunting their loyalty.

"As if *hic*... as if the Doge could beat my Giovanni..." your voices ends

>rolled 74, slight success

"You *hic You wanna do it?!" a guard responds to you provocation "I was trained to the halberd by the Doge himself!"
"Y-Yeah!" the second adds "One day he even stopped a bullet with it!"

You are not sure if that last part is not exaggerated under the effect of alcohol, but at least you learned what his favorite weapon is. The conversation turns in circles and goes nowhere. Before ending your meal, you take some of your dried fruits for vitamins and before you can decide of your action, it seems that the diner is over in the other room. Everyone is preparing to leave.

-1 serving of dried fruits

"You made new friends, Alfonso?" smiles Don Giovanni
"They were badmouthing you!" you justify yourself still a bit tipsy
"I'm sure they did... I noticed you were acquainted with some of the participants tonight. I will wait for you at the gondola, I need to talk with Don Machiavelli, you can talk to them if you want."

This is an occasion to talk to either Franz or Lisa in private. The first for repairing the damage from refusing to fetch her whine, ask explanation about how the Doge shunned her and most importantly about the Codex in the Dovecote. The second to further prepare your expedition in the Catacombs and reveal your second option to cure the plague. Since they are going in opposite direction in the palace, there should be no misunderstanding.

+1 Charon's alignment
-1 Sol's alignment

The Witch near the dock, about to board her gondola. The same creepy dude as at Don Giovanni's party in cloak is holding an oar, waiting for her. This time you get more time to examine him and realize it is a skeleton., probably her Divine Magic considering she can trap souls in knitted dolls. Hearing your footsteps in the snow, she turns back, printing a gracious momentum in her heavy crow feathered coat. Her black figure makes a sharp contrast with the snow.

What do you want to ask (pick up to 6)
>explain that you are following other routes to cure the plague, maybe she can help you as a party member
>you wanted to turn that Lizardman now freed from Franz's influence and turn him into an undead trhall
>about Charon Divine Magic rituals (soul-linked knitted doll, undead thrall, thurible of Discord, ...)
>about your alignment and the miracles she can teach you (once you have more Charon's favor)
>something specific about the Catacombs, write-in
>can your students join-in?

>>I've heard that they are using zealots, maybe children and there will be Nicholas, the Solar Knight and Vitalis the Grand Inquisitor

How far has the Inquisition made it into the Catacombs?
What kind of undead could we expect inside the Catacombs?
If we can't ask both, then just go with the latter.
>Is the Inquisition investigating her family crypt? Does she need any help with the situation?
>explain that you are following other routes to cure the plague, maybe she can help you as a party member
If no one else shows up to ask anything, go with these as well:
>about your alignment and the miracles she can teach you (once you have more Charon's favor)
>you wanted to turn that Lizardman now freed from Franz's influence and turn him into an undead thrall to make use o
The main thing we should avoid asking is if we could use her students to help. I realize I was the original source of this idea, but I doubt she will take it well. Not worth asking.

"So, probably undead Wyverns, Centaures, soldiers... The Cult has tried to enter the Catacombs many times to recover the bones of the Human king who made a contract with the Lich. Nobody came back. "A labyrinth? Do I need any tool?"
"Don't worry, your map is right here." she winks at you "There should be an enigma to solve at the entry though. An the last part is a really wide crypt where we will have to find the tomb of the Human king where the rest of the bones are."

Wyverns, Centaures, Minotaur? Nobody told you about that. And there is also the Grand Inquisitor and that scary looking knight. But right now you are more concerned about Lisa well being.

"How far the Inquisition made it into your crypt?"
"There are many accesses to the Catacombs, my family crypt is only one of many... But once they clear the Catacombs, they will have plenty of time to explore everything and find the Temple of Charon."

Not quite sure if we can get to it tomorrow. We have a big day, and obligations to try to receive the debt contract from the Ambassador. Maybe we could head to the tailor and pick up some warm clothing and get to hunting him down tonight? Or, we do have that resist cold potion. The Witch get onboard her gondola and signals her thrall to row back to the shore. You are now heading back to the Noble District with Don Giovanni since Franz already left. The Don looks relaxed, exhausted maybe.

"It went well Alfonso. I may be able to get Don Machiavelli support if we get a cure, but if the Doge get the Philosophal Stone before us, it's over."
"What was that about the Doge warning you he will get it first as soon as you leave the City?"
"You know they tortured Bernardo, right? Probably to get the Philosopher Stone's location. Depending on how much he told them they narrowed the ruins locations to some island and are ready to set sail. They just wait for us to move and give them the right direction."
"I'm kind of lost here. Is there a time limit to get it before them?"
"I don't think so. It's more like a race and we are the one to give the starting shot. Also, there will probably be a fight in the ruins."

Don Giovanni is closing his eyes, enjoying his half victory over the Doge while you row him back to his mansion. There, Raphaella welcomes you back. You depart for the Arsenal ready to renact your northern exploration but... since Don Giovanni unlocked his tunnels under the City for you, at least in those parts, there is no need to face the snow above. It takes less than an hour navigating underground to get to the Arsenal where small tavern are still serving the Militia.

"Come on, fight me you coward." Franz's voices can be heard inside one of them

As you pass the front door, letting the blizzard blowing inside, the music stops. Some dude with a kettle helmet and a half cape as a poncho just entered the saloon. It's you.

"Hey, it's Franz's gigolo!" they cheers "Please get a room and calm her."

She takes you out of the tavern, leaving a trail of blood behind. Thanks to the potion, you don't feel the effect of the cold and avoid a relapse. On the horizon, you try to distinguish the flat shadow of the Citadel, but because of the sloping walls it is covered in snow. Feeling your consciousness starting to vanish, you try to grab your medium healing potion. The blood is dripping from your shoulder on your fingers, there's only your right arm left since she is carrying your left side. It's no use. You pass out.

You are running in a snow field, chasing some Elves with a pistol in one hand and a dagger in the other. Mercilessly executing the first one with your flintlock pistol taking a duelist post you get the rest scared and they turn to you, paralysed. Like deers under the lantern of a stagecoach. You jump on the first one, stabbing him in his heart and then the second one. After this slaughter you wipe out some blood on your forehead and dig the snow to retrieve what they were trying to steal... Corpses... Corpses everywhere.

Not taking any interest in Franz innocently displayed chest, you gather your belongings and move on. Without a mask or gloves, you have to be careful, maybe you will not be able to leave the Citadel without the mandatory facial protection.

You know where the large healing potions are, and you also want to get inside the Dovecote where they receive messages and decipher them. This building is probably their food cellar too.

What do?
>large healing potion, you can pretend Franz sent you
>Dovecote to try getting the Codex despite just being a 'squire'

Actually, supporting this. Still voting to cover her up however. Not certain we can get the Codex on our own, and I don't really feel right leaving her there passed out. This is the Militia we're dealing with. She may be their commander, but come on.
Lets go get a large healing potion, come back and wake Franz up, and offer her the medium one. Net gain of potion, and happy Franz.

You approach your hand from both side of her open gambeson, trying to pull on each side to button her up and realize that... the reason why she never buttoned up is that the gambeson is too tight. It might have been issued for a man or her breasts are too big for it. When you accidentally groped her, it clearly didn't fit in your hand. Defeated, you gather some straws and cover her before leaving.

First you exit the barn for the what you think is the Dovecote. Seeing a pigeon just coming back you confirm your initial suspicion about this building function. There's only one Militiaman busy deciphering some message with what should be the Codex.

Two Large healing potions. I'd like to head after the Elves today, so they should have plenty of medium healing potions to loot as well.
Rough set of plans. Let me know what you guys think.
>Head to Lady Barielle's (Rum is there, right?) with some coca/saffron to turn into elixir/steal a couple of them from goodhealth's factory
>Raise hell around Elven territory. Try to draw out the lieutenant, or another higher up to interrogate regarding the debt contract/Ambassador
>Draw out Ambassador if necessary, or head to where ever he is now staying after the Embassy fire
>Juice up on blow and saffron
>Fight, kill, loot
>meet Dwarves/Da Costa, return debt contract
>go find lizard if possible
If we can task somebody else with creating the elixir if we cannot steal it, we could take the opportunity to go try to learn about the whereabouts of Franz's former lizard. I'd like to try to find additional information regarding it throughout the day, but overall put it on the back burner until the Dwarves leave.

+3 large healing potions

Incredible, it worked. You exit the building trying to shave your loot in the bag, but with the codex and all your potions, plus the elven cloak, it's a bit cramped. You have to choice but to carry them in your hands. While you are heading for the last building to get some uniform, the translator comes trying to keep pace with a determined officer.

You get out of the Citadel before being found out and are back to the Arsenal, without a mask... You can use the tunnels under the Arsenal to not be arrested and emerge on the outskirts of the Craftsmen District, or try to make one with the Elven cloaks.

Supporting all of this. Solid. We could probably sell off the Elven cloak at the tailor as well.
Only thing I'd like to add is:

Mainly the hunting aspect of it. Do our research and attempt to get closer to where we can find it, but not really going out of our way to do so. Just asking people we have a chance to meet throughout today about the whereabouts of the Lizardman and whatever else they may know. We're pressed for time on the Dwarven thing, this is pressing as well, but we really can't spare much time.

Escaping the Militia officer and the translator you rush back to the barn and hide a medium healing potion next to Franz's head. She is still asleep, snorting and drooling, with your makeshift straw blanket covering her breast.

"Hmmmpg... I'm gonna be a hero, mom." she whispers in her sleep

A strange personality. For now, she is an ally but you doubt she will vote for Don Giovanni. She also mentioned knowing the Don. Not wanting to get caught in that barn, you leave the Citadel rushing back to the Arsenal. Hiding under your kettle helmet to avoid showing your absence of mask you quickly run out of tricks before entering the tunnels. Just as you expected last night, the snow almost reaches your knee. If it were not for the canals, you would not be able to distinguish any form in the City.

Once in the Craftsmen District, you stumble several times on frozen bodies hidden in the snow. Some of the shutters you saw yesterday closed are now wide open, letting the cold invades people's home. Thankfully, Mario is still guarding the rooftop of the Tailor and greets you.

"Hey Alfonso." he waves his rifle 'Who was that man Arthur brought to our house?"
"I need his armor and maybe he can show us where he hid his loot if he feels grateful enough." you explain

Sell something, Social (+5 good relationship with the Tailor)
>Assassin Outfit (+5 Physical, +5 Mental and +5 Social)
>3 elven cloaks (+10 sneak)

You take a mask and a pair of gloves as an advance payment for Mario's workday and leave for the Blacksmith. It's around 9AM when you get there, the Dwarf greets you with a bloody halberd.

"It's happening! Nobody is going to touch my weapons." He shouts with blood injected eyes

There is a trail of blood on the snow leaving his shop. He defended teeth and nails his treasure, to what extents his sickness will take him? You show him the Codex, making him drop the weapon and fall to his knees, almost like a prayer. He takes the book away and start kissing the cover.

He has already gone back inside, flipping the pages of the dictionary to translate a text in Dwarvish.

"What's wrong? You can't read Dwarvish?"
"Ah ah! Foolish Human, as if we were going to write our precious manifesto in Dwarvish. No. You have to translate from Dwarvish, Gnomish, Elvish then back to Dwarvish, then..."
"You lost me."
"Just help me with this, Human."

Original text of the Manifesto:

We hold these lands to be self-sufficient, all products are harvested respectfully, they are gifted by Ceres with certain limited availability, among these are potatoes, wheat and the abundance of root.

From the angle at which the arrow across your torso pierced is placed, you deduce the general direction from which will come the Spirit Fire imbued arrow. Slightly bowing your head, you use the kettle helmet as a shield and brace for impact, getting the baby closer to your head behind the protection.

When it hits, you first feel the impact, shutting your mouth close violently and compressing your neck. Then the fire explodes but does not ignite you, everything slide on your right, the opposite side from where you are holding the baby. The pressure is immense. So close of getting enough alcohol gel to prevent a hecatomb and to get a cure for the plague. You can't allow yourself to fall for something like that, it's just too risky. Reaching for a phial, you swallow your blood mixed with the ignored potion while covering the mouth of the baby still crying. It does not take long to hear the Elf confused swearing.

"By the World-Tree I swear I saw something down here."

He does not even know why he was here. Meanwhile, the baby struggles to breath against your hand, but slowly ceases to fight. For him it was an agonizing eternity. The Elf turns back while you uncover the baby's mouth who is now motionless.

More blood drips down on the arrow, falling on your protegee's face. Your hands feel weak as your realize what you just done. You didn't know covering his face would prevent him to breath. You... You didn't know.

Taking forever to reach the healing potion, carefully avoiding moving the arrow across your torso, you keep the baby close to your heart, as if your life could flow in him. Breaking the arrow's tip and retrieving the projectile makes the pain radiates in all your upper body. With all the time you need in the world you take small gulp of the potion until the wound is healed, which is about half of the large healing potion.

Standing back, still holding tightly the baby's corpse and carrying all your loot in the bagpack, your jaw is clamped holding back your sorrow. You don't know why you are still holding him. It's over. You killed him. That the least heroic thing someone could do, killing a baby.

Finding a meaning in this innocent death, you convince yourself that it must be to fuel your anger toward non-Humans and especially Elves. This is not vengeance, simply your duty as the chosen species to exterminate all who dare to challenge the Human dominion. Your muscles stiffens, you take a decisive step toward your house after offering a proper funeral ritual to the baby thanks to the elemental fire next to you.

"Welcome home Alfo..." Melie starts when seeing you crossing the door

A new resolve is showing on your face and Melie, impressed stayed silent with an open mouth. The giant man you ordered Arthur to rescue is sleeping on the ground since the mattress where was completely soiled by Valentina. Now that you think about her, it's time to come to the conclusion that she will not return and disappeared just like Luigi. The man looks fine, without any injuries or sign of infection, his suit, on the contrary still has some bits of rotten flesh and feces inside. Susanna, feeling your presence slightly bows her head in your direction. Once again, she used her healing miracle to save someone and pyromancy to keep the home warm over the night instead of using completely the Iceburst Stone.

Quick question, when does the dwarven ship leave, today or tomorrow?

We're going to have to spend a lot of time prepping for the assassination of the ambassador, grabbing as many iceburst stones and coal as we can to make explosives an incendiaries. Where do we even get coal?
>>
>>4310382

I think we still have time today once we are done with Lady Barielle fast
>>

While unloading your bag and making changes in your inventory, you wonder where you could find coal. Some recipes your learned need it. Maybe charcoal can do the trick by burning the piano and the bed in Parotti's apartment. But you should ask Bernardo before or risk loosing resources while attempting a transmutation. There is also the option of getting coal from the steamboat you crashed or the Hothouse both in the Noble District.

Before leaving, without changing clothes since you have the resist cold effect active, you crouch to Susanna's level and trace something in her palm. It's so simple that you don't need to look for the correct orthograph in the dictionarry.

"Is something the matter, champion?" Susanna asks

You take her hand, making her gasp of surprise. The cold droplet of matter on her hand elicit a lewd moan from her which makes Meli's blush an turn her back. Arthur is smirking at you.

"Thank you" you simply write
"Oh champion it is... It is nothing, I am forever grateful to you. Please use me as you wish."

Susanna progression 6/10

The trip to the Pearl of the Ocean is relatively easy. You have an ignored potion active and can use Lady Barielle's underground tunnels just like the ones of Don Giovanni in the Noble District. To make it even easier, you have a travel artefact in order to make it in one hour without breaking a sweat. The Pearl of the Ocean has many Fishemen busy bringing dead whales attached to ropes.

"Come on guys." Lady Barielle cheers them "Chop-chop! We have a business to run."

You start by waving at her weakly after the disastrous night at the Embassy. She notices you, turning toward you from under the porch of the brothel. With a snap of her finger an army of Fishmen lay down in the snow for her to cross barefoot holding her dress. Fire erupts in her eyes, almost frightening you and once she is at proper reach, she slaps your face.

"That's for being a terrible dancer." she yells "And that's for burning that plankton eaters house."

She raises her arm around your neck, leaning down on you. Despite tip toeing on her Fishmen, she can barely reach your jaw for a peck.

You land your rough heavy palms on her frail nude shoulder, a clear signal that you are not in the mood. She bites her lips in frustration and clench her fist on her a dress harder. Playing hard to get is the way to her heart but after that incident at the Embassy you wonder where you stand with her. Maybe giving her something to chew on (not your lips preferably) would allow her to satiate her need to conquer men who can resist her.

"I wanted to ask about the miraculous algae." you start

She interrupts you, raising one hand and slightly lifting her dress upward with another. Mr. Goodhealth, the Apothecay, who was carrying whales with the Fishemen rush on her feet.

"Now you can ask." she let you continue
"Do you eat it? Do you have to make tea? Do what is it some sort of lettuce that grows in the water, how strong is it?" after you enunciate all your questions she nonchalantly kicks Mr. Goodhealth
"Natural aphrodisiac they use for their mating season." the Apothecary explains, overjoyed to be useful "It also has miraculous healling virtue, even stronger than a potion or Divine Magic. It grows only under several hundred meters. It's a gift from Poseidon, the last of the Old Go-"
"Enough pig!" she kicks him again "The deal was to help us fight the Kraken who laid its nest in our caves and in exchange, he would have commercialized the algae."
"Can it cure the plague?"
"Probably..." she puts a finger on her tempting lips searching in her memories "I remember about a sailor we found, all the bones in his body broken, about to die from an infection. Just a tiny amount, about an inch long, rubbed on his chest cured him."
"Then what?"
"My father killed him." she says without flinching "
"Without Da Costa" the Apothecary dares "We don't really know where the main field is though."
>>
>>4310616
That settles it. You wonder how much of that miraculous algae you will find in the deep. If you find enough fill the submarine you are bringing with them you should be able to cure everyone.

"I want to kickstart the production of alcohol gel." you get to the point
"Don't forget about that I deserve three-quarter of the profit." she proudly plants her fist on her hips
"Yeah... I think I know how to industrialize the process but for now I can produce it myself.
"Industrialize? Interesting..."
"Yeah, it's something about training monkeys to use alchemical typestamps."
"What's a monkey?" she tilts her head
"Uh it's... it's an animal a little bit less intelligent than your Fishmen."
"Then, why not use my Fishmen?"
"Wha... Yes! Yes! Of course! I just need the alchemical typestamps."
"Perfect." she smiles deviously "Then I will take nine tenth of the profit."

She played you like a fiddle! But you don't care, do you? It's in order to save the City and you are not looking for personal profit. Training monkeys will take time an effort, Fishmen are about jsut as intelligent and also need the alchemical typestamps.

Deal or no deal?
>yes, the Fishmen will start the production once you bring alchemical typestamps
>no, you will take time to train the monkeys

(Optional) About the price, you can still change it but for now
>how much should you sell the alcohol gel for, write-in

"Would you change your mind about Don Giovan..." you try
"Not a chance." she refuses

That was straightforward enough. Maybe you can manipulate her into supporting him like you know how to do with the women. For now, she is a little bit more than a friend and clearly interested in you.

(Optional) Should you take advantage of Lula once she is yours for political manoeuvers?
>yes
>no

"Let's move to another topic then." you continue "I know that the Amabassador is a Spirit of Water user and that there is also an Undine involved."
"An Undine? Really?" she looks astonished "But... But... He can't! He can't! That's cheating."

She stomps over the Fishman under her and also kick in Mr. Goodhealth face to his delight. Her burst of anger reminds you of a spoiled child making this new potential threat hard to judge.

"That's cheating." she repeats "Alfonso, this is serious business." her translucent eyes pierce you like a pair of daggers "Make me fall in love with you."
"Wait what?"
"This is a serious threat, the Undine is going to boost his powers. I can fight by your side but my charms can get even stronger if we become one."

That was really unexpected. But even more is her determination to get serious with you. She wants to fall in love with you, not just make out like horny teenagers. Is it really how her charms can get stronger? You remember about her blessing from the Deep, a charm that allowed you to get stronger with every enemy you killed. If she has even stronger blessings up her sleeves, this should be interesting.

"Not again." she sighs
"It's Corym. I found him... the Elves had their ways with him, I would've expected them to treat one of their own gentler... but I guess even traitors don't get a pass."
"I... suppose." she is anticipating what you have to say
"It's over now, I put an end to it, he rests now."
"F-Fine." she snorts "He was bound to fall under my charms anytime soon."
"Are you alright boss?" the Fishman under her ask
"Shut up." she kicks him down... weakly... "Wha-What use do I have for a man who can't fall under my charms anyway? He was just talking about Science all day and night."
"Boss?" the Fishman tries again
"He was... He was my only friend." she is holding back her tears, her cute face having some spasms

After dealing with Lula, you get busy with Alchemy, drawing circles in the snow under the heeve-oh of the Fishmen who brought rum, fat and Mystical Stones here. You feel bold enough to try twice the amount of each ingredient. The complex patterns you drew shine with a bright light. Every Fishman stops his work to gaze at it.

We don't have the time to train the monkeys. We could potentially get around to it depending on what we have going on in the future, lets reevaluate after we acquire the typestamps. Speaking of monkeys, we have not fed them today. We really ought to do that, but for now we have the elixirs, so lets go try to capture and interrogate an Elven Commando to get information on what the Ambassador is up to now. Or we could go try to gather materials for explosives, however I'm not so sure about utilizing them in a fight against him. Is the ignored potion still active? We could just walk in. We should drink the speed potion as well. It's already getting late, if we're getting coal we'll either have to use charcoal, or head all the way to the Noble District.
>should be fine
Don't we have the option to use an explosive to get into the Ingothide vault for the nautilus plans? If it can blow open a vault door, I'm convinced the Ambassador would become nothing other than a red smear after it went off. If it was close enough. We used one in the Citadel escape:
>"You throw the package out of the building and aim with a flintlock pistol. Trying to shoot it before it landed proved to be grave mistake, because you only hit the edge of the explosive. The reaction starting on the edge propelled the package just a few meters away from where you wanted it to land before setting off completely in a thunderous explosion.
>Militiamen bodies are lying down like trees under the fire breath of a dragon, some launched up in the air. It probably made some victims, but more injured than dead."
It COULD work and leave the contract unscathed, but I'm still pretty reluctant to try it. I would be very much open to using one against the Ambassador's mage, I'm sure he will be present in the fight if we don't go through precautions to prevent that.

You decided to entrust the full chain of production of alcohol gel to Lula and the Fishmen, receiving only a one gold coin for every ten unit produced. Considering what you have already made and the remaining rum, you will get around nine gold coins for this, unless you provide more alcohol which is the limiting factor.

About the young mermaid crying in front of you. Using her for your own agenda is not really your style. You may be the most incompetent failed hero the City ever knew after killing that baby and letting your friends die, but you have principles. And people are spreading your name, right? At least the patients at the Hospital recognize you and some persons you saved know your name, that's... not enough to be qualified as a hero sadly.

"I'm sorry about Corym. There was nothing else I or you could've done. You and I are friends. Don't forget that."

You let her small frame sinks on your large muscular torso.

"Cry, he was your friend, I don't remember the last time I've cried... I don't think I can anymore."

And indeed, your eyes feel dry as if you did blink for a while now because of the stress. You are still thirsty for knife-ears blood, the only thing that keeps you moving and help you forget about that baby. What was his name? What his parents wanted him to be? Your sailor's shell peels away hearing the mermaid sobs and you end up thinking about your parents too. You cry.

Exhausted, Lula goes back inside her brothel helped by some Fishmen. You notice that her tears did not leave any stains on your clothes, instead your pockets are filled with pearls. Small little white balls with gold dust gleaming on the surface.

There are still plenty of things to do. The monkeys need to be fed, you have no idea where to find Iceburst Stone and with captain Rakham boat out of fuel, you have to find your own gondola to get under the Dwarven Airship floating on the lagoon.

It's 4PM, what do? (you can do both, but it will cost more time of course)

>get to the Academy to loot the alchemical typestamps
>there is at least one Iceburst Stone on display in the Hothouse Transmutation chamber, and you will steal it

>loot a house to get their resources (Iceburst Stone)

We can feed the monkeys on the way to the slums. Maybe the man from the Dead Zone is awake by now. He might be able to come along. If not, Arthur and Melie need to be armed at all times in the apartment, just in case he reacts violently upon waking up.

-1 speed potion
travel time halved (again) +10 on some actions

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DOKrl5L66w

You drink the speed potion, letting the liquid runs through your veins. One of your finger twitch, your whole hand is trembling. It's like being drunk on adrenaline with the Mercury talisman enhancing the effect of the potion. You start running back and home but as balance your arms to control your momentum, you feel lighter and starts taking huge leap without breaking a sweat. You get home, grab the apples and feed the monkey in less than an hour.

-5 apples

"Hey, it's Franz's gig-"

The Militiamen of the bridge can't even react as you pass through. Streets and canals succeed one another, you are now on the outskirts of the Disinfection Camp where the canon is not manned any more. Actually, there are nobody alive inside the Camp. Everyone is lying on the ground, half-buried in the snow, spread in an arc around the only access bridge in front of the canon...

No time for this. You get to the Slums by 6PM. It's night-time and only the faint light of randomly placed street fire provide enough visibility for you. However, this is enough to find the little brat who tried to mess with you. Wait, it's you who tried to kill him already.

What do? (pick one)

-1 Saffron elixir
-10 Sol's alignment

+20 Mental (ends tomorrow at 6PM)
+10 by injury, don't feel pain (ends after sleeping)

The Saffron elixir intense smell assaults your nostrils even before your drink it. Once in your body, you feel a cold rush to your brain. You now perceive the world around you just a little bit slower, even hear the slightest sound in the rubbles. With a clear head, you can take on any mental problem right now. And that you do. One, two ,three, four... All the kid's accomplices from last time in the rubbles are found.

There is a small makeshift bunker hidden as pile of garbage from where one rifleman is aiming in the direction of the kid. He shares his hideout with another companion, unarmed, probably to take turns. Behind a half collapsed building, you can see a mace and scythe sometimes showing up.

Since you have the ignored potion effect, you can try to silence each group separately but that means dealing with two enemy in the span of a second to not trigger an alert. The garbage bunker causes another problem though. If you try to enter there, you might slip on something and raise awareness about your presence. And finally, the kid is known to use potion to escape or maybe enhance his fighting abilities.

What do?
>shoot the kid's leg to immobilize him, but reveal your presence (Mental) (+10 artefact)
>throw a flick knife at him (Mental)
>throw your cleaver and kill him (Physical) (+10 damage)
>grab the rifle protruding out of the bunker and toss it, but raise awareness about an invisible enemy

Carefully avoiding kicking in any of the metal cans on littering the ground or taking hold on the crumbly rubbles walls of their makeshift bunker, you make you way inside. Just as expected, on his aiming in the direction of the kid while the other is resting. They use an Iceburst Stone to warm themselves, they probably light it up one hour ago just with the sunset. A dozen cans of meat are piled in a corner but that's all. Not potions.

The rifleman has a very bad trigger discipline and killing them could result in him firing a warning shot.

M-MASAKA!

With the cleaver raised as high as the ceiling allows it, you make it fall on the head of the rifleman a few inches down its skull. He does not convulse and just collapses on himself, his body bringing the cleaver stuck in him. You hand still firmly gripped on the handle you appreciate how limp his neck turned, it's like cutting meat.

You giggle at the sinister thought. And let it rest here for the moment with a nervous smirk. The man behind you is still asleep, totally unware of what is going to happen to him.

Should you make him up just a second before killing him with your dagger
>yes
>no

After that, you acquired a rifle and twelve cans of meat, also an Iceburst Stone with seven hours of fuel. Is it enough? The night is calling for vengeance, deep down in you someone is screaming "no". You retrieve the cleaver, enjoying the sounds of mushed brain and skulls part.

You step in front of the bunker slit from the rifle is pointing and pass next to the kid who has a foot on a wooden crate. This small gain does not interest you, the objective is to steal their reserve. But as you are about to pass behind the building, carefully avoiding any rubble on the ground, you notice quite creepy going on. The kid is looking in your direction, bewildered. You step back and and move forward again... his eyes follow you.

"Oi!" He shouts to the bunker "Yer sleepin o wot? That fookin' puffa is back!"

He must have taken some potion to notice you despite the ignored effect. Metal rattling can be heard from behind the building. The guy with the mace and the other with the scythe are coming while the kid is drinking something.

If we want Sol points to fight the Ambassador, we need to fight him in "fair" combat. That might meant we can wake him, toss a dagger to him, then just go to work. He is awake, armed and challenged to personal combat. Might be min maxing but we need all the help we can get. I really want to not lose our ability to use miracle before the penultimate boss for this route.

>call the kid from the bunker (Social) (-5 on a killing spree)
Give him one chance to walk away quitely. Let him take a few cans of meat but let him know that if he betrays our offer we will kill him and everyone he cares for. Maybe not today, or tomorrow, or even next week. But those who break their word when offered mercy will be punished.

I will reiterate that I am afraid the kid already has Inner strength cast and just trying to knock him out might make this fight harder. Can we maybe just try the hate potion to affect and confuse all of them? Cause worst case, it is 3 on 1 with all of them being a minimum of Zealots.

You throw the hate potion at the duo of zealot. The phial shatters at their feet halting their assault, dreadfully anticipating something more lethal than a hate potion. As they realize their physical integrity is still preserved, they laugh it off rushing back at you. It can't be! Does their Zealot blessing protect them against that?

"Wotch your step mate?" he toss angrily at his companion
"Say wot?" he bumps his shoulder into him "Hammerin' some nails in your cricket bat and you're the Doge of the Souf now? Fookin' puffa."

In a few seconds, their quarrel erupts into a vicious gruesome fight. The scythe cuts an arm, the mace shreds the other face but these injuries only exacerbate their strength and anger. They might have been the best mates in the world one second ago, but they rare now rolling against each other in the rubbles. Smashing the other's head into the ground, shoving their thumbs into each other eyes.

>rolled 30, success
...

Not staring as much as necessary at that fight, you leaped next to the kid making him drop a potion he was about to drink on the ground. You smile like a madman and murder a child with your cleaver.

Your breath quickens. The blade still stuck sideways in his throat while his stare is fixed on you. "Why?" you can read on his face. Why, indeed. He just asked for two pistols in exchange on of large healing potion. You started the fight and this chain of events. His small body collapse on his crate like a puppet going limp, eyes still looking at you without any life in hit. In the background, the two Southerners are exchanging insults and beating each other to death.

In a moment of panick, you take your revolver and point the barrel under your chin, closing your eyes. What a pathetic hero you are, the total opposite of what you wanted to be. Even incapable of pulling the trigger. You hit yourself autistically with the revolver, crying and begging someone for forgiveness.

>Pray over the bodies and ask for forgiveness. Place a small coin over each of their eyes and and ask to let them rest even if you are never given such a mercy

We need to go to one of our confidantes to try and resolve some our our guilt. Confess to Susanna, confide in Lula, go fuck the shit out of Franz, or revel the depth of our darkness to Lisa. Take the empathy potion before hand. We need to let it out one way or another. We are a monster but the situation we have been placed in is beyond monstrous... and if we stop now, it will all be for nothing.
>>
>>4311048
>Susanna's an invalid
I want to clarify Susanna/Lisa situation with a little non-RP. You can get up to 9/10 with them and the last point can only be unlocked if you have a positive balance in Sol/Charon corresponding to the character.

Lisa said that Susanna's sight can be restored if she is able to summon a fire invocation and see though its eyes. You can help her to max her pyromancy by pursuing the romance with her. The result is that Lisa will only be a good friend to you and will never fully commit herself to you.

>Hope you're doing well by the way!
Me too. Take care, everyone.
>>
>>4311048
So we are still like at 6ish with all of them at least. It comes down knowing what they really are about and speaking in that language I thing. If we go to one of them and place enough trust in her to really decompress and confide, it might just boost that given relationship to near max and help our mental state.

Honestly Lula might be the best, if we frame all of our recent actions as working towards our shared goal and contextualize with that with how bad it was at the start of the plague. She should be able to relate to being put in such a bad situation, enduring it, then fighting against it given her own issues.

Or not. I recommended killing the kid so what do I know?
>>

>>4311061

Well fuck the Lula idea since I doubt we can get enough Charon Pts...
>>

For this one I feel like Franz is the best option, if only for her experience in adventuring and making tough decisions. Confessing to killing a kid with the other three... I don't see that going down well.

Yeah. That one chick called me a bad person and all this and that. Heh.
I'm an alcoholic, but I'm so fucking sick of the drinking. I get Franz the most, but I hate it, man. I want to feel again. I fucked myself up with psychedelics. I don't want to BAAAWWW up a thread that will be on the archive, so I'm not going into this further.

You could have voted for the other non-lethal option, outnumbering the vote to kill the child. Don't forget to make concession if you absolutely don't want another vote to win...
>>
>>4311074
The only option I could see with Lisa would be admitting what we have done and asking her to kill us after we cure the plague.

Best case she appreciates our nihilistic self sacrifice that she spares us and we vow together to become better people. Otherwise, we maybe cure the plague but die by her hand, never becoming a hero with only our presumed success to provide any condolence at the end.
>>
>>4311084

Fair enough. I did try to say something here to hopefully get YWiNGimx to change his minds. Definitely should've tried to change my vote however.

We're getting an opera made in Alfonso's name by the end of this, man.
The child killer thing dies with us.

My guy, there is always someone who is willing to talk to you and try and help. Feeling nothing is like the biggest reason my IRL friends have tried to hurt themselves. Even if it is only on a stupid Mongolian basket weaving website, you can always talk to someone while shit posting. We might not get it or might not even like you but very few people will not empathize. Most will probably even try and help; people are basically good and so are you.

People are here. Even if your taste is shit, you sad faggot.

It'll definitely make an excellent tragedy, that's for sure. The forlorn hero, only seeking to save the city, but with the weight of all his sins pressing down on him will he succeed, or fall into pitiless oblivion? I like to think that after this is all done we're going to disappear, and leave it to writers like that ratfolk journalist to write about our story.

Rarely blinking you search in all the bodies of this carnage you are the only responsible for. The cold wind howling between the sharps remains of the building around seems directed at you, almost talking, reproaching you of causing this much chaos. Once you are done, you pull them near the canal, leaving a trail of blood in the snow that will quickly disappear with the next snow fall or by swiping with your feet. The men from the bunker with the guy who was peacefully sleeping and did not even realize his life ended. The two zealots who murdered each other with heavy weapons, fists and nails who were probably the best buddies in the world before. And the small child body of the street sailor.

-10 Sol's alignment

They will now drift away on the sea, slowly decaying as nature intended. May their soul pass safely in the afterworld and also decay until reincarnation. Glory to Charon. After this traumatic event, you need to talk to someone, and that someone is Lisa. Lula should be fine with the gold justify the mean mentality, Franz should be pragmatic enough to understand, but Lisa is the most empathic woman. Whether you surrender to her judgment and beg her to turn you into an undead thrall as repentance after this, or she lends you and attentive ear like from a master assassin to a apprentice in turmoil, she is the best according to you.

You exhaust yourself trying to find their cache of potion, using the full extent of the speed potion and the travel artefact to look in all the places around. It's getting even darker and you're not sure you can pull this off anymore, you're not even sure you want to live, but you need something to do. It's now 7PM.

You can't help it. It's becoming too dark to find anything hidden here. After one hour or carefully searching in the rubbles, letting no stone unturned, you resign yourself and leave the Slums with your loot. Militiamen at the checkpoint know about you and Franz can be a pass at the Arsenal or the Citadel but it may be dangerous to encounter a dedicated patrol who will ask question about your oversized bag and huge spiked mace.

Leaving the Slums proves to be relatively easy. You didn't fire any shot and fought silently, plus the Disinfection Camps are just mass open grave where infected have been slaughter by grpeshots and left frozen in the snow. The problems arise when attempting to cross from the Craftmen District to the Office District. The clinking of he bottles in your wooden crate under your arm has brought the attention of a patrol has you can hear their voices and the flickering light of their torches against the walls.

"Who goes there? It's past the curfew, we're coming for you!"

What do?

You finally made it to the Office District after letting that patrol, which should be the only one in that area, search everything until they were satisfied. With 'resist cold' and 'ignored' effects active you don't even need to try hiding. Just staying their not moving is enough. Actually, you can probably sleep outside but since you are heading to Lisa's workplace you expect to stay somewhere else tonight, maybe. You can't really think straight. The face of that child staring at you confused is haunting your memories.

"Bwaaaaaaaah bwaaaaaaaaaah bwaaaaaah" a baby is crying

No. No. No. It's not your fault. You didn't murder a baby. Kneeling on the ground and digging frenetically in the snow to escape your life and your sin, you are about to fall in the abyss of madness. The cries are too much. You take huge pocket of snow and show them in your ears, pressing either side of your head and banging your forehead on the ground.

It's 10PM. You know Lisa's home is not far from her workplace, something very strange for a noble from such prestigious family.

It's the Lizardman! He is jumping over the rooftops with a baby in his arm. It's quite massive, Franz used it as a mount after all. Razor sharp claws, long muzzle with hundreds of teeth, you don't want to face it bare-handed, but... It's abducting a baby! Alphonse warned you it was a criminal and you set him free by dispelling the Tartarus chains, something Lisa told you about. Time to repent.
