You are Ushi Walker, the half-japanese/half-american wielder of the mighty quirk “Everything is Bigger in Texas", one of U.A. High's top first-year students, proud physical powerhouse and a human vacuum, as far as eating goes.

With all those factors combined, it makes perfect sense that you'd spend your lunch break at Lunch Rush's Cafeteria. Eating and socializing, like a normal girl. You are kind of proud of that.

While most of the rest of your lunch is spent trying to get Deku to stop saying Detective Comics Comics while chatting lightly about the first heroes in Rhode Island, you do enjoy your lunch in friendly company, discussing if isobeyaki should be made with sugar or not and when is the right time to enjoy a hearty meal if one wants to train and not get sick.

Classes aren't as fun, but it's hard not to enjoy the challenges of your heroics training, even if this time all you really do is rush out of a crumbling building with an injured dummy without killing it.

Despite All Might's efforts demonstrating how to hold someone while you subject them to great force, the biggest lesson you learnt that class was how exactly to throw someone tied to a chair out of a several stories high window without major injuries, courtesy of Bakugo in his successful attempt to get the best time.

With your practical training done you would normally go home, but not today. You got a robotic buddy to retrieve, which makes you one of the last to leave the classroom.

>"This week is going great! Halfway to the weekend!" Mina comments as you all get ready to leave the classroom. "Just need a couple days to get out of the way! Anyone got any plans already!? After the internships I wanna do… Something!"

>"Nah, I'll just be resting this time." Toru replies, her floating clothes letting you assume she's stretching her back. "Oh, and studying for the midterms, can't forget those!"

>"...I take it all back." Mina says, paling enough to look like a normal gal. "I need more timeti-ime!"

>"Well, there's more than a week left. There is enough time to pour pore over the pages and shore up on your weaker subjects." Momo advises her as she readies herself. "...Patch any holes, as it were."

>"Eh heh…" The not-quite pink girl mutters, sheepishly shuffling out of the classroom. "I need to get a boat first…"

>"...What does that even mean?" Toru understandably asks, almost managing to look confused.

>"It wasn't something I said, was it?" Momo asks, turning to look at you and sounding a bit guilty. "Oh dear. I hope she gets her affairs in order."

>"Really though, why a boat?" Toru insists.

"You can't patch a leak without a boat? Dunno." You suggest with a shrug, putting on your backpack and starting quickly to leave as well, with pep in your step. "Anyway, see ya!"

>"Looks like someone does have plans." The invisible girl points out as she leaves the room as well.

"Ah'm gonna go get Tin back!" You announce, stopping for a moment. "Actually… Any of you wanna come see the development studio? It's pretty neat."

>"Sure! I wasn't planning anything." Momo immediately answers, stepping out of the threshold herself. "But do you think there's anyone still there? Remember that the rest of the school leaves far earlier than the hero courses."

"Yeah, Ah'm sure she's there." You assure her with a wave of your hand, continuing your way. "Ah reckon ah know Mei well enough to know she'll be there until someone kicks her out."

>"Who is this Mei?" Momo asks, hurrying a bit to walk by your left. "Sounds somewhat familiar."

>"I think it was the pink haired girl that… huh… Kinda fought Uraraka. Hatsume Mei I think..." Toru tepidly clarifies. "If you can call that a fight."

>"Oh, her." Momo acknowledges her with a nod and a shudder. "Yes. A fight… Uraraka tried her best. Having not fared any better, I can't criticize her."

"Yeah… Again, sorry 'bout that." You take a second to apologize to your friend, looking over your shoulder as you walk, still feeling bad about embedding her into a wall.

>"No need for that. I just need to be better." She proclaims, exuding confidence fit for her rank. "There should be plenty of opportunities for me to prove myself to you.... You all... what I can do."

>"Well, we have most of the year left, of course you'll show them up prez!" Toru cheers from your right.

"Ah know you can." You assure Momo, throwing an arm around both of their necks and pulling them in for a half-hug, not bothering to try a frontal hug. It's incredibly awkward to hug Momo alone, your arms don't reach far enough to add Toru. "Ever tried makin' a gun?"

>"I'd… rather not have that on my records." She replies with an incredulous expression. "I'll stick to weaponry the law didn't bother to cover."

Letting them go after a couple of seconds, you lead the way to the development studio's blast doors and the crates of salvage and new materials that sit by its sides.

>"It looks closed." Toru points out the obvious, then picks up a scorched robotic claw from one of the crates, waving it around. "Heh. Looks like someone found the self destruct button too."

>"One must wonder why such heavy doors are needed…" Momo muses, lightly tapping the metal with her knuckles, too faint to count as a knock.

You aren't as subtle.

"MEI! FIREWIRE!" You yell, banging your fist against the heavy metal"AH KNOW Y'ALL IN THERE, OPEN UP!"

You bang for a solid thirty seconds, not bothered by the impact of metal against your hand.

Eventually, the outer door slides to the side, opening to a blast of hot air and a shirtless Karoshika wearing overalls tied at his waist and a large mechanical arm over his right arm, the second year student still looking like he needs a sandwich or three considering you don't see much but bone and skin.

Behind him, Mei pulls up her goggles and stares at you. Intensely. The crosshair eyes really help to get across the murderous intent despite her tanktop looking straight up drenched.

>"Oh, it's you." He says, poking his head out and looking around at your friends. "And more of you."

He then pulls his head back and the door slams shut.

>"...Was that a skeleton in a sauna?" Toru asks, and you aren't quite sure if she's joking.

"...Mostly, yeah." You mutter, unable to disagree as you try to process what on God's green earth happened with Mei and if you should apologize for something, or prepare to dodge a wrench, or if it even is related to you.

>"Was that... Firewire?" Momo then asks, staring at the wall like the rest of you.

"Yeah… He keeps Mei in check when Power Loader ain't around… Kinda hope he still does." You tell her, stepping back from the door. "Pretty sure he did some of Tin's programming and framework too."

>"...Strange combination of skills." The taller girl comments, covering her mouth for a short giggle. "How befitting of U.A."

"Ah guess so…" You reply, still muttering.

After a couple of seconds of nervous silence, the door opens again, the lanky boy and salmon haired girl standing in front of you... The later holding a rather large wrench.

The heat radiating from the room reminds you of the summers back home, and of laying on the grass under a tree waiting for the sun to stop trying to fry you alive.

Behind them, you can see… Many cameras that weren't there a couple of seconds ago sprouting out of panels within the walls.

>"I just can't believe it! I mean, poor Tin! Our baby was cast from some of the toughest materials on the planet! There's more of the alloy in Tin than the rest of the planet combined! Than the planet had raw materials to make! It should have lasted years! Or get wrecked in an epic battle with a villain that got covered on the news!" Mei shouts pointing the wrench an inch from your nose. "How did you manage to still find a way to slice through it like that!? IT LASTED WEEKS!"

>"She's been having a bit of a crisis since Tin came in." Firewire explains, grabbing her by the waist with the mechanical arm and pulling her away from you.

>"I'M BEING REPRESSED!" She yells, flailing. "I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT I DID WROOOOOOONG!"

Oh no. She's sobbing now.

Looking at your classmates, you can see that you aren't the only one feeling awkward. At least on Momo's face, Toru's face remained inscrutable.

Firewire for his part, rolls his eyes.

A sort of combination between

and

>[She's been restrained and you've been through worse heat. Enter the studio and look for your robot friend! "Tin! Baby! Ah'm here! ...Mistress is here! Where are you? Are ya alright?"]

But something like telling Mei that we can talk later but then going immediately after to check on Tin

You give a small placating smile to your worried looking classmate, and the one without looks too, before focusing on your friend in distress.

Issues of soul and heart are not something you can solve with brute force, no matter how much you wish you could. But where snappy banter and chokeholds fail, heartfelt words and hugs will have to suffice.

"Hey, calm down sugah, you did nothing wrong." You tell her, approaching her and getting within the reach of her wrench, while waving at Firewire to not interfere. "Quirks are bullshit, you just can't account for everythin’."

>"Of course not!" Mei says, not sounding any calmer. "Friction! Tension! Electrical, Thermal and Magnetic! Most forces and energies! Tin should have been able to crawl out of a crater! But nothing mattered the moment it was put to the test!"

You can no longer tell if she's mad, sad, or both, but whatever it is, it's not okay.

"Did…did you watch Tin's memory?" You ask her, tapping your chin. Getting a nod and a sigh from her, you continue. "Ya know how things went down then. Tin still works, the smugglers were caught and no one was hurt! So what if there's some fish hussy around carvin' solid stuff with her claws! Would anyone else's robot have fared better? No! Even the gear of the best support engineers in the world gets damaged in the field! Hell, even All Might has gotten his suits torn in battle sometimes!..."

There. That got her attention, as well as everyone else's… But they don't really matter right now. You softly slap Firewire's mechanical arm rig, getting him to release her with a shrug. Perfect for you to grab her and pull her into a half hug.

"The evil people of the world have supernatural powers now as well, stuff so weird 'nd dangerous, normal police can't deal with 'em all! That's kinda the entire reason there's heroes runnin' 'round in tights, and Ah reckon we need all the help we can get." You tell her, trying to talk her and her trade up. "Costumes, gear and… Well, robots. You didn't fail. Tin did what Ah told it to do, it didn't fail either. If anythin', Ah should have gone and kicked her teeth in before she laid a finger on Tin."

You hold her close, patting her shoulder and hoping your words are enough to help.

>"Yeah, you messed up, but I have no excuse either." She mutters, still looking down. "For the first time I had all the best materials, all the tools and machinery I needed… even some help... I did pretty much everything I could with that robot short of building it from scratch... And I still managed to fuck it up."

"Well… You did your best, right?" You ask, trying to see where she's going with that and help her vent.
>>
>"As always… Never stopped my babies from blowing up or starting a fire on their first iterations though." She says with a small smile. "But this is different! I didn't overlook anything, no soldering was lousy, every capacitor was in the right place. What am I supposed to do when I fail without making any mistakes?"

>"...I can't believe I was that stupid." The eldest student in the room states, not looking moved in any way. "It's been long enough, get over it."

>"Hey, you can't just say that!" Toru yells, stomping in front of the much taller Firewire, wagging her uniform's cuff in front of his face. "You are her senpai! You are supposed to be all… candid and helpful and… stuff!"

"Yeah! Did you take your heart out or somethin'?" You ask the teen who seems to be keeping his cool far too well for the heat in the studio.

>"No. This is just a thing that happens." He answers, opening a drawer and revealing a very stained and burnt metallic hand, much rougher than the one he is wearing and pockmarked with burnt blobs, then slamming it against the bench. "You do your best and fail anyway. Who would have thought you would have to plan for fucking locusts!?"

You immediately shift your stance, putting yourself between him and your friends, just in case.

Despite his outburst, the slight glow to his eyes and sudden stiffness on his usually shaggy hair, he finally looks passionate about something, the first time you've ever seen him like that.

>"You take notes!" He says, taking a deep breath and lifting his metal arm, cyan arcs of lightning briefly shining over its surface, releasing a smell similar to that of a wet donkey. "And improve!"

With a rather dramatic flick of his wrist one of the walls of the studio begins whirring and groaning, opening to reveal a similar grid as the suitcase lockers in your classroom, but with much smaller compartments.

Another difference is that it's clearly not full of suits, letting you see the small pieces of scrap that occupy half of them, with one of them sending chills down your spine. It doesn't look quite the same without the red lens in the middle, but you can easily spot Tin's damaged head in the last occupied box.

But he continues before you can demand an explanation, leaving you to look at it and at your friends. Seeing your own distress, Momo reaches for a tentatively yet appreciated pat on the back.

>"Must be the damaged frame." She says, continuing the calming gesture.

>"In other words… Just keep on doing what you were doing." He finishes, letting himself fall on a stool, the lightning show slowly petering out and dying as he shrugs. "We still have the old molds, but you still insisted on machining a new head. That means you are changing something. An upgrade."
>>
>"Well, I had to make sure the new frame would be compatible with the electrodes." Mei affirms with a sharp nod, taking a step away from you and looking around for a second before walking towards a couple crates, pulling out a circuit board full of capacitors out of one of them. "I'm not going to let my baby suffer through that again. A shock of 850 volts on contact should cause cramping on anyone who tries to harm it!"

>"Pardon my intrusion, but wouldn't that cause a cardiac arrest." Momo asks, reasonably concerned.

>"...Maybe! I'm an engineer, not a doctor." Mei answers without missing a beat, sounding and looking like normal, focused on her work.

>"No you are not." Her upperclassman corrects her, to no effect.

This time is your turn to pat Momo's back, seeing her shock at Mei's dismissive attitude.

>"It's that normal or…" She asks, trying to find some polite way to refer to Mei's blatant disregard for human safety.

"No, that's pretty much how she normally is." You clarify, shrugging. "...Wait a dang second. Does this mean Tin's not ready!?"

>"Of course not." Mei replies, lifting her circuit board. "Fitting this thing won't take long, but we got to pour it's new head pieces into the molds, let it cool, fit and bolt everything together and reactivate the poor baby… So, tomorrow, probably."

"But it's been like a week!" You whine. It's not the most dignified thing to do, but you miss Tin.

>"You can't rush genius." Mei smugly tells you, putting on her goggles and walking towards what looks like a heavy, large metal box under a fume hood. "Or casting this stuff."

She grabs the handle atop the box then flails her hand around, wincing.

>"Right… Karoshika, do the thing, will you?" Mei calls out, getting the older student to shamble closer and grab the handle with his metal arm. "You might want to take some clothes off."

You look at your classmates, shrug and take off your jacket, prompting Momo to do the same.

>"You know what happens when you get sweaty in a white shirt, I'm not exposing myself like that." Toru states, crossing her arms.

You and Momo just share a confused glance.

>"Suit yourself." Firewire replies, puttin on a welding mask and flipping the top open.

Considering you are alive to think about it, it can't be the Ark of the Covenant, but it sure as hell feels like it is, what with the heat getting at least twice as bad the moment it opens and the blinding light.

"GAH!" You let out, reaching to cover your closed eyes, your eyelids not doing nearly enough to protect you. Then it gets bearably dark again.

>"Temperature is right, viscosity in the middle is too high still." Firewire states, looking all blurry to you. "It's not ready. We'll have to pour it before we leave at 19:00."

>"Well… That's a lot of free time I didn't plan for, so…" The pink-topped blob in your field of view says, approaching the blobs you are pretty sure are your classmates. "My name's Hatsune Mei, what can I do for ya'?"

>"Warnings about blinding lights could be a good start, but I'd also like to know how you came to possess, and I quote...." Momo asks, sounding inquisitively, yet looking blobbily. "'More of the alloy than the rest of the planet combined' and 'more than the planet had raw materials to make'?"

...You don't like the sudden silence, nor seeing the two support students glance awkwardly at each other when your vision starts to come back into focus.

Momo, however, rocks those sunglasses.

>"Eh, that wasn't that bad." Toru comments, breaking the silence while looking and sounding unaffected too.

So yeah, you seem to be the only one that got hurt by that.

>"Are you… Are you licking your eyes?" Firewire asks.

"Ah wouldn't if someone didn't just flash fried 'em." You grumble, unable to care about his apparent disgust.

>"You do you." Momo reassures you, once again patting your back. Not as needed this time, but you don't have it in you to complain about friendliness.

We shouldn't lie to Momo, and maybe bring up some reservations about matter creation of expensive materials that occurred to us after the fact. We had fairly productive discussion about this in a previous thread about asking Powerloader or Dad about it.

These are good ideas, but we should first ask the girls - or Mei and Firewire - if they have any ideas, not just for their own gear, but to upgrade our babybot.

Meant HUD for Momo and clothing that can become visible or invisible and something that eliminates any sounds she makes for Toruh
>>
Leaning into her hand on your back, you take an instant to come up with something to tell Momo.

You don't think she'd actually take it up to the principal or any teacher, but you still don't even consider letting the support kids take the hit, even if you aren't keen on getting chewed out for a victimless crime yourself.

"So… You've seen Tin, right? These guys made the little bot what it is now. Ah'm sure there's somethin' they can do for ya, right pals?... Right?" You tell your classmates, raising your arms and wrapping them around their necks, pulling them close. "Ah reckon there's gotta be somethin' you need for a lil' extra kick in trainin' and when we get back in the field, right?"

>"Oh. Well, I hope none of you think of this as hubris, but were I to need someone else to make my gear, it'd be a admission of failure." Momo says with a small, courteous bow. "As The Everything Hero I must be able to make whatever tools I need whenever, wherever I may need them, not carry them around."

>"...I'm good too." Toru explains with a much simpler shrug. "Dunno if you've noticed, but my costume doesn't exactly have pockets, dunno where'd I put any gadgets."

>"I can think of a cou-" Mei enthusiastically points out as she picks up a large spanner a nearby workbench, quickly raising it next to her head and intercepting a smack from Firewire's gizmo. "Ha!"

CLACK! the spanner goes while she sticks out her tongue to her upperclassman.

You can only share a slightly worried glance with your classmates, wondering if maybe you should do anything about it.

>"Anyways, I'm sure one of my babies will make your life all that much easier." Mei offhandedly remarks, grabbing one of Firewire's mechanical fingers and twisting, subduing the taller student without flinching. "If not, I'm sure I can make a new one! Yours would be a real challenge though, Invisible Girl. Where would I get to put my branding?..."

>"It's fine, I really don't want anything!" Toru insists, her waving sleeves making you think she's waving her hands in front of her face.

>"Well, if I recall correctly you should be leaving for your wrestling class don't you, Ushi?" Momo then asks, grabbing yours and Toru's arms and giving both of you a gentle yet firm tug. "We should be leaving."

While you have some mixed feelings about leaving the older student as a sprawled pile of sweat, limbs and metal, you don't oppose Momo's desire to leave the hellish room.

After a brief farewell and a promise to be let known when Tin would be ready and awake, you leave the studio, your dress shirt sticky with sweat and making movement awkward.

>"Your friends are freaking weird." Your invisible friend comments after you get away from the studio door.

"Ah mean… Yeah, but she's still brilliant." You reply, shrugging and shivering due to your sticky shirt. "You gotta admire someone turnin' ideas into stuff, 'nd pretty good stuff at that."
>>
>"I do that all the time." Momo mutters, cracking her neck, walking by your side.

>"And without all the crazy!" Toru points out.

Luckily, it doesn't take long to get to the train station, where normally you'd say goodbye to your friends.

I just want to get to the next big event like the Parents day or something, we're playing out every little thing and it's taking forever. I like character interaction as much as the next guy, but how many scenarios can you really create before something must be changed to shake it up? The zoo thing will be fun but we need to get there.

Seeing as you are going in very different directions, you give Toru a quick hug before letting her go on her way home.

Momo, however, you stick with. Mostly metaphorically, even though your shirt does its best to actually stick to everything.

"Ah know mah route to the dojo lines up with some of your route home. Wanna ride together for a while?" You ask her as you walk through the station, drawing everyone's gazes as you walk by.

>"Oh." She lets out, looking genuinely surprised. Then, with a gentle smile and slight tilt of her head she continues. "Sure!"

While you are more or less used to getting lascivious stares, you still take the women-only cart to be able to talk with your friend without having to stare down any would be perverts.

>"The Tigers' Den… According to some admittedly light research, the hero that owns it was once a vigilante who now only grants his brutal training to those he deems worthy." Your class president starts when you sit down, setting her bag on her lap and leaning close, as if telling you of a deep, dark secret, then rights herself, covering her mouth for a short giggle. "It sounds made up, right? But I've seen it get more popular since you thanked the Den at the awards ceremony."

"Well, Ah dunno 'bout all that." You admit, looking at the roof of the cart and blowing at the stray lock of hair that falls over your forehead and between your eyes. "Ah just know that it's hard 'nd painful and Ah normally leave the dojo with the taste of the mat on mah tongue… But Ah really feel more prepared! Spring Tiger's harsh -that's mah instructor, who's a gal by the way- but Ah reckon Ah'd rather take a beatin' on the mat than the field… Ah know feel better knowin' Ah'm tryin' mah best to be ready for mah next run in with real villains."

>"I can tell, and I assume everyone does. If anything, you should be known for going the extra… Mile." She says, nodding.

"Sugah, you more than anyone else know that's not what people know me for." You say, making a feeble attempt at bringing your elbows together.

You know it's never gonna work, but it makes your point for you.

>"I said should." She says, bringing her hand up to fix her bangs, hiding her face for a second before revealing a smile. "Between the tournament and your internship with Edgeshot, it's a matter of time before people see what you have to offer as a hero."

"Thanks. Ah learnt a lot from him." You reply, smiling back. Then you focus on an issue that you know has been bothering her for a while, and thus bothers you too. "How about yours?"

At that she looks down.

>"...Well …I do understand, and my costume doesn't help matters much, but I don't think I have that issue?" Momo answers with a slight stutter and what sounds like a joke, looking down at her own bosom.

Playing dumb doesn't suit her, even you can tell she understood you, but doesn't want to talk about it.

Her obvious attempts at diverting your attention away from the topic do little to dissuade you. It actually tugs at your heartstrings, as it confirms it hurt her in some way.

"You don't have to do that, ya know? Ah just heard you had a bad time, thought Ah could cheer you up… Ah'm pretty good at silver linings." You tell her, awkwardly reaching over her shoulders and pulling her close for a one armed hug. "Why don'tcha tell me what's weighing down your heart sugah?"

>"Nothing." She starts, intending to end it there but a concerned look and arm patting get her to continue after a sigh. "I'm just... Still coming to terms with my wasted internship. While marketability and advertisements are, undeniably, parts of a hero's job, it was all I got to do."

"And what's so bad about that?" You ask as harmlessly as you can, giving her a reassuring smile. "Ah barely got to see that part of the hero biz. You just got ahead from us all on that."

>"Tsuyu and you apprehended smugglers and Jiro helped defuse a hostage situation, and that's without bringing up how Todoroki, Iida and Midoriya got to hold off the Hero Killer himself…" She lists, practically deflating as she speaks, leaning on you and placing her head on your shoulder. "You all did well at the tournament, and keep growing, improving and raising to new heights… And here am I, wasting my chances to catch up."

"Sugah, you are our class president, you don't need to catch up to no one." You tell her, somewhat confused. "Hell, the reason Ah took ya out so fast in the tournament was that Ah was scared of ya takin' me out if Ah gave you a second to think. Ah'd follow your plans any day too!"

>"Well, that makes it worse." She says, looking at you from up close. "...Recommended student, heiress to a hero family… Class president too. All the praise and expectations… I don't feel like I'm living up to it. I'm trying, but I can't help but feel like everyone is leaving me behind. That's why I hate having wasting this chance."

"Sugah, you can..." You try to come up with an uplifting response-

Instead, you feel her poke your abs with her finger.

"-What?" You end up asking instead.

>"Sorry. I was thinking about how you have done it, keeping up with such a busy schedule, so much training." She says, pulling away from you and settling into her own seat, giving you a reassuring smile, mirroring your own. "After all, I don't plan on merely sulking, I just need to come up with a plan and get up to speed! I refuse to disappoint!"

You can only smile at her moxie, even as your stop draws near

Momo could help with that but honestly it's probably a project better suited to the support kids. It is kinda their job. Imagine the dolls screaming "YEEHAW!" then exploding into a capture tape restraint trap.

At that point we would just be asking for their 3D printer, at least with Momo she may keep one for herself.

Next time, get momo to intern under miruko. She needs someone with decisive action and to keep her from second guessing herself.

You can't tell her what to do, but you can admire the attitude before parting ways.

"...That's the spirit!" You tell her with a beaming smile, raising your arms and flexing as much as your uniform sleeves allow before the seams start bursting. "Ah know you'll figure somethin' out… And Ah sure as hell look forwards to see what you come up with! Ah'm always up for rematch, just so you know."

>"Well, I'll certainly keep that in mind." She says, grabbing your arms and pulling them down. "First challenge is to balance a more rigorous training regime with my quirk's requirements…"

"...How 'bout just eatin' more?" You suggest, hoping not to sound condescending>. "You probably know it already, but you ain't gonna get any stronger without protein and you'll need one heck of a carbs load to keep up that… Squish? Feels rude to call a pal fat..."

>"...Squish is worse." She remarks, raising an eyebrow.

"It does go squish though." You reply, mischievously poking her soft arm through her uniform, making sure you don't bruise her. "See? Squish."

You aren't quite sure what you expected, but Momo grabbing your wrist and driving your finger into her arm wasn't it, not feeling some decent hard muscle under the squishy fat, giving you a confident, smug look.

"...It's still squishy." You double down, sticking out your tongue as you mess with her.

The point of the women-only cart is that there are no men, allowing women and girls to let their guard down. Adding to that the fact that there's no one you know in the cart, it makes it the perfect place for both of you to have fun and be silly without worrying for appariences.

It's only a couple minutes before you bid her farewell with a smile, glad for her determination and happy with the time you spent with your friend.

Your time at the dojo is nothing remarkable. Spring Tiger puts the flexibility of your skeleton to the test, slamming your head against the mat and twisting your leg over her head until your wood starts arching, threatening to pop off your hip. Then again, and again, until you manage to hook her neck with the back of your knee and quickly turning your entire body, slamming her masked face on the mat and sitting atop her chest. She quickly tosses you off, but figuring it filled you with pride.

Neither the submission hold nor the escape technique feel like something you'd use in serious combat, but you imagine that kind of flashy move would be great to use on a minor villain for publicity.

The next day is uneventful as the rest of the week is, other than a text from Mei letting you know you can pick up Tin on Monday after classes. Busy days, all of them. Even Saturday.

But as you go to bed, preparing for whatever Sunday's trip will entail, you check your phone one last time, alerted by the blinking light of a text notification.
>>
>"Hey there, Walker! I hope it's not too late, but I have a question to ask." Iida's text starts, awkwardly stiff as always. "Since some of our classmates heard about the free tickets, I was not left wanting for people to accompany us to Zoo Dreamland. Tokoyami's praise for the pastries provided was uncharacteristic but moving and both Mineta and Kaminari asked to come as well, but without explaining why."

The quickest of maths tell you what the issue before you lay your eyes on the next text.

>"However, that's one more person than what Native's gift accounted for. And while Tokoyami's reason felt sincere, I'm not sure about Kaminari's nor Mineta's intentions." It somewhat predictably continues. "Thus, I think I'll leave the decision to you, if you don't mind. Who shouldn't get a ticket?"

...That you didn't see coming.

Who are you to deny someone a Sunday trip to a theme park? What gives you the right? Those are all thoughts that race through your mind as your breathing grows shallow-

"...If Tin was here it'd wonder what's wrong with me…" You mutter, calming down as you realise how silly it is to act like this is such a big deal.

Then you start thinking about who'll miss out.

>What do you do?

>[Fumikage's love for these pastries doesn't mean anything to you. "I don't think Fumikage (or Dark Shadow) will make good company in a theme park."]
>[Denki is a nice and friendly guy, but it'd be weird to have him there, even if you parted ways amicably. "I'd rather not have Denki there, it'd be a bit awkward."]
>[Mineta needs little to no explanation. "I don't think I could relax on any ride with Grapes around…"]
>[None! You have some spare cash and tickets aren't very expensive, surely you can pool a few bucks and get everyone in. "I'm not sure what those two want either, but I reckon it'll be better to have them in sight."]

I'd like to figure that even if Mineta might be a gigantic perv, Denki is reasonable enough that he'd stop him from doing anything worse than running his mouth and letting his gaze linger on certain places a bit too long.

Kicking only Grape sends another message. Unsure if it would exacerbate the issues or possibly break through like all the other times....perhaps in getting parted with his "comrade in arms" in Denki, that hes willing to drop Mineta in order to have more ordinary interactions, makes Grapes realize his path in life will leave him hollow, shunned, and alone...

Kicking both he and Denki sends a different, novel, message; one being quite unforgiving of slip-ups or tricks that take advantage of Ushi or those she cares about. Given Ushi's general caring demeanor, this seems to conflict with her in general. From the looks of it, everyone seems to already be on board that its the weaker option.

Going about paying in for yourself so Pony can take the free ticket (or vice versa) is some magnificent Himalayan refined salt in the wound on Grapes, That were not only willing to deny him the fun and outgroup him, but also willing to payout ourselves to include others we enjoy being around. This....could be the kicker to increase the chances of something puncturing that nuisance's headspace.

The only question I'd pose is by bringing the party of Ushi, IIda, Pony and Fumikage and Denki, is Denki gonna feel like a third wheel? I guess the hope is that sharing the experience with him and that Ushi is still cool to hang out with him will overshadow him feeling...out of place.

For now, supporting

>Be open that your willing to spend some to have a 5th person >if< it is a good fit.

The way I see it, Iida should have a good idea of who is getting the boot there. So the real question is:

>”Ah think you know my answer but its got me curious. Are you still comfortable considering him, despite your recent “incident” with him?”
Whatever that notion is a good one to keep in mind... and whether it should extend to just Grapes or include Denki as well.

Feels cold leaving Mineta out, but he does cause actual harm with his antics. I just don't see it as in character to put aside the fact that he legitimately makes Ushi and others uncomfortable. Hard to imagine wanting that when you are just going somewhere to have a good time.

It's only a matter of time before Mineta ends up on some kind of sex offender registry, at thisrate.

So...
Kicking Mineta out won the vote but "Kick out Mineta and Kaminari, bring Pony", "Bring all of them" and "Kick out Mineta, bring Pony" are all the second place.

So, Ushi is not wanting to bring Mineta, and wants to bring her pretty Pony pal... But what about Kaminari?

You stare a couple of seconds at the screen, considering your options before kicking your feet up and letting yourself fall onto the bed in some sort of body slam.

"I don't think I could relax on any ride with Mineta around…" You quickly send, needing zero consideration but reading the names again. Then you follow it up. "Not sure why you are still comfortable considering him, with what he tried to pull off the other day..."

"Thanks for stopping him btw." You add a second later.

>"He asked to go." He repeats. "And no problem, stopping such acts is our duty as heroes in training."

"?" You send, seeing no explanation given, no real answer.

>"Yes?" He asks, seemingly not getting it.

"He was pretty much slobbering over peeping." You try to drive the point home, bold and all.

>"He learnt his lesson and asked for forgiveness." He quickly sends back. You imagine his fingers typing sounding like an ancient typewriter.

"Really? I didn't hear anything." You keep typing, not believing a character of what you are reading. You don't think he is lying, but you very much doubt Mineta was being honest.

>"Yes. That's what he said when he asked me if he could come." He answers. A few seconds later, he adds a bit more. "As I see it, after he got what he deserved in the locker room and his apology, everything should be okay. But that's why I chose to leave it to you, I believe a victim of his perversion would have a different outlook on it."

You aren't sure what to think about that.

>"Since he makes you uncomfortable, he won't accompany us." He then states.

"You know, it's not hard to think of better people to invite. Pretty much everyone you can think of is higher on the list." You tell him, listing the first people that come to mind. "Momo, Mina, Kirishima, Tsuyu… Bakugo too… PONY! Pony would love that place!"

>"Pony?" He asks, surprising you.

"Tsunotori Pony?" You try to remind him, unsure of how he could have forgotten about her.

>"Tsunotori, right!" He sends, reminding you that most people this side of the ocean don't use first names.

"Would you mind if I invite her?" You quickly ask. "She'd love it as much or more than Fumikage!"

>"If you want her to come, sure. I only have four tickets, however." He answers.

"Don't you worry, I'll take care of that." You tell him, then swipe through your phone to tell Pony, but then go back to the conversation. "THANK YOU!"

Then you go confirm with Pony, running your thumb all over the screen.

"<Howdy! Are you free tomorrow?>" You send, expecting to see a reply in the morning.

Instead she replies before you can put down your phone.

>"<Kinda. Was gonna go for a mountain run, y?>" She asks.

"<Zoo Dreamland, do u know it?" You ask her, excited. "<Wanna come with us? A pal got free tickets~>"

>"<At this time of the year?>" She asks, making you wonder what's wrong.

"What's wrong with spring?" You ask unsure of what she's even talking about. "You got allergies?"

"<IT'S APPLE PIE SEASON YOU SILLY MOO, YOU DON'T NEED TO ASK!?>" Followed by more emoji than you can parse, making your eyes glaze over a good chunk of the message. "<-CINNAMON! I'VE HEARD THIS IS THE KIND OF STUFF THAT MAKES YOU GLAD TO HAVE 4 STOMACHS TO STUFF!?>"

"<Sugar. Capslock.>" You remind her, keeping your phone at arms reach, as if she was screaming.

>"<Sorry.>" She sends a second later. "I'm IN tho."

You tuck yourself in and continue switching between chats, coordinating with both of them and making sure you all know where and when to meet up at the park.

The following morning, after your morning routine of showering and stretching, you put on a simple and comfortable outfit. Enough support for some running if you need to, but enough freedom and airflow to not get too sweaty during what looks to be a hot sunny day and reliable yet not overly restricting pants.

That is to say, a comfy bra, a fitting top and a pair of jeans.

You pace briefly in front of your mirror, looking at how much you are showing and if it is too much, then deciding that people are probably less likely to try anything awful with you if they can see your bare abs and arms.

Making sure you didn't misplace your letter of appreciation for tomorrow, you bid your momma goodbye and wish her luck finding an outfit that wouldn't have her stand out too much next to the other parents.

Considering her size, she'll need all the luck she can get.

Hoping from train to train as you needed to get to the park's gates and running towards the booths there, you rush to buy an extra ticket before anyone else gets there, then retreat and wait for a bit.

One by one your friends arrive, with you waving for them to come close as soon as you spot them.

"Hey there sugah!" You start with Iida, jumping in place and waving your hand high under the shining morning sun.

>"Good morning, Walker!" He greets you, the poor guy must have run most of the way under the sun, seeing how redfaced he is when he approaches you. "I brought a map of the park and timetables for the attractions, I can assure you, we are going to have a great time!"

"Ah sure hope so!" You reply with a beaming smile. It's a tad strange for sure, but on the safest and nicest side of weird. "Good thing ya did some research, 'cause Ah reckon Ah did <diddly->"

Then you see an incoming blur by the corner of your eye.

You reflexively brace and lower your center of gravity, stabilizing yourself and grabbing your assailant, widening your stance and taking a step back to shift the momentum and turn the direct impact into a harmless spin, tossing her over your shoulder as your boots grind against the ground, lifting small clouds of dust.

Luckily, you only know one person able to just send you sliding three feet by accident.

>"<Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!>" Your fellow american repeats as she wraps her arms around your neck.
>>
"<Well, howdy there sugarcube!>" You greet her, putting her down and returning the hug, paying her back the tackle-hug by squeezing the air out of her lungs. "Glad to see ya so happy, but ya gotta thank Iida too, these are his tickets after all!"

After letting her go and wheeze for a couple seconds, the horned californian turns to address the bespectacled boy.

>"Oh, it is you? Thank you very much..." Pony sheepishly asks, scraping a small cloud of dust with her hoof. "No bad feeling about fighting?"

>"Oh, not at all. I would have been offended if you hadn't tried your best, Tsunotori." He answers, pushing his glasses back up. Maybe they slid a bit on sweat.

At least your third friend to arrive announces himself verbally.

>"I see we are being invaded." Denki jokes as he approaches with a deep but clearly unauthentic bow, his casual clothes fitting right in with your simple attire and Pony's cute suspenders, making Iida look more like your chaperone in his golfing attire. "And I for one welcome our cute american over...ladies?"

While you are well aware that both stare at everything south of your neck when they think you aren't looking, Mineta's persistently lascivious attitude would be straight up threatening if he weren't puntable. Denki's charismatic personality and ability to read the room make him a far more likeable guy, if a bit pervy.

Both stare at your body, but one tried to spy on you while you changed and the other asked you on a date. To you, that makes illustrates why you are fed up with one and can call the other a friend.

"It's no invasion sugah, everythin' under mah pointy boots is american soil. Always." You tell him, sticking out your tongue. Then you point at Pony with your thumb. "Ah guess you remember Pony."

>"It'd be hard to forget those horns." He replies, nodding at Pony, who responds with a bashful smile.

It takes a conscientious effort not to let your own smile turn into a scowl and caress your broken horn. You need to try and have fun.

Fumikage arrives a minute later, having taken the very him decision to wear a black hoodie on a sunny sunday.

>"Zoo Dreamland..." He muses as he comes to stand next to the rest of the group. "Much like it's namesake, this place is foreign to me. I trust you to know what to do."

>"Don't worry, I have you covered." Iida reassures him, slapping what looks to be a folded map.

>"Wait-" Pony interjects.

"Don't worry sugah, he's a bit dramatic." You tell her, trying to set some expectations.

>"- You never been at a zoo?" Pony finishes her question, leaving everyone puzzled.

>"That's not- Actually, I've never been to one of those either." Fumikage answers, thinking about it for a second.

A minute later, you make your way through the first gates, entering a buffer zone before the park proper, seeing the some rides from the different sections of the park, like what looks to be an indian or arabian palace on the savannah area and classic castle on the forest one.
>>
It doesn't quite make sense to you, but you try to not overthink it, focusing instead on the detailed carousel near the entrance and the distant yet enormous ferris wheel.

>"Welcome to Zoo Dreamland!" An attendant tells you, handing each of you a headband as she ushers you in with a practiced smile. "I see it'll come easier to some of you, but try to embrace your wild side and join the party!"

Entering the park itself, you can hear people of all ages talking and having fun, see kids running around and their parents chasing them and young couples eating cotton candy and caramel apples walking around.

>"Are these accessories really necessary?" Fumikage asks, holding up the headband he was given.

>"Not necessary, per se, but embracing the park's theme is sure to make the experience all the more delightful!" Iida explains as he putting on his, a pair of stiff, notched bunny ears with little detail. "We are now 'wild' inhabitants of Zoo Dreamland the moment we crossed that gate! Besides, look around! Everyone here is enjoying theirs!"

>"If that's how it is…" Fumikage says, nodding and putting on his headband, placing large monkey ears at the sides of his bird-looking head.

>"It's the place's gimmick. And c'mon, you gotta admit that girls with animal ears are cute as heck!" Denki points out, putting on his bear ears headband and looking sideways to Pony and you.

"Ah just wonder why the girl ones are all fluffy and stuff…" You comment, putting on your own pair of fuzzy bunny ears. "It's gotta be on- PONY!"

It's not a cry of pain, as it's less of a bite and more of a nibble, but you didn't expect to be nibbled on the shoulder anyway.

>"AWOOO!" She cries, pointing at her new fuzzy wolf ears with a mischievous smile.

>"...See what I mean?" Denki comments to Fumikage, who slowly nods.

>"Please, refrain from that, Tsunotori!" Iida warns her, pointing at a red and blue sign on a nearby tree. "It clearly states, no howling!"

>"Aw…" Your lycanponic friend pouts.

>"Well, now that we are here, we must enjoy the park as we are meant to!... If we can find a good starting point." Iida indicates, unfolding his map as Pony glares at him. "I hope we can conquer every ride and attraction before day's end!"

>"Forest Sweets!" Pony orders, pointing at the area in question. "The exclusive apple pie will sell out if we go later!"

>"...That would be disappointing." Fumikage murmurs.

"Ah'd hate to miss it too." You add in, getting him to fold up his map.

>"Great! Then we'll start with a second breakfast!" He announces, seemingly happy with having a starting point. "Follow me, we'll find your confections!"

The apple themed eatery was fairly easy to spot once you got near enough to spot it, but you are sure both Pony and you could have led you all there by smell alone, following the heavenly smell of what must be the best apple pie this side of the ocean (as there must be a better one back in America, of course.)

Bringing all the pie and some additional snacks for yourself, you all sat down and enjoyed a damn good meal once Denki's and Iida's nosebleeds stopped, the sun surely having gotten to them.

The chat was great too, getting to know that while Iida doesn't dislike oranges, his quirk only works at optimal capacity when he drinks pure orange juice, and so he has forced himself to only drink that in order to always be ready for action.

Fumikage and Pony... just like apples. A whole lot. It was actually impressive to see him maneuver a pie slice into his beak, or Pony give a long lick to a caramel apple before biting the entire thing off the stick. Poor Kaminari was left gawking at that one.

Once all is said and done though, you go onto the rides themselves, making sure to take the scenic routes, passing through a garden of giant statues of random objects, including a bright red ball, a bike tire and a metronome, riding on a carousel with all kinds of animals instead of mere horses and centrifugating yourself and your friends in the Oasis Teatime, since no one told Fumikage or you that the spinning teacups weren't competitive.

"All Ah'm sayin' is that you can't just tell people that the goal is to spin the dang thing if you don't want this to happen!" You explain yourself to Pony and Iida, both slumped in benches as they try to get their stomachs under control.

>"I... maintain that we won." Fumikage adds, not doing any better, yet leaning against a wall in the shade.

While you got relatively unscathed, just needing to burp, Denki was the real winner, flat out flying off the teacup and landing in a bush a couple of yards away for taking pictures of you all spinning instead of holding on for dear life.

>"C'mon, if you can trust me, you can trust them!" You hear Denki approaching, being followed by a distressed looking small girl with giraffe ears and horns, no older than seven if you had to guess.

"Who's that?" You ask, approaching them slowly.

>"This is Yuka, she's lost." Denki tries to explain, to Yuka's disagreement.

>"I'm not lost! Big girls in kindergarten don't get lost!" She declares.

Once the rest of the groups is well enough to join in, Yuka tells her tale…

>"So, you came to the mark with your momma…" You try to summarize, pausing to make sure she agrees, which she does with a nod. "She went to buy something to eat and ya went and followed Mr. Bars the Zebra…"

Another nod, this time more enthusiastic.

"Right, and when you lost him, ya couldn't find the way back." You continue.

Once again the little girl nods, clearly happy at being understood.

>"But you don't want us to bring you to the lost-child center cuz?…" Denki asks her again.

>"'Cuz I'm not a lost child, mister… I just dunno where I'm s'posed to meet my mommy." She explains, pulling at your heartstrings.

>"Right. You are literally a lost child." Fumikage says, suddenly speaking up.

The moment Fumikage starts speaking, the little girl squeals and hides behind your leg.

Looking around, you aren't the only one surprised at that, as all four of your friends share surprised glances. He wasn't even that melodramatic or anything!

"Calm down sugah, we are here to help ya… Why don'tcha tell us what gotcha so jumpy?" You ask, trying to be as calming as you can.

>"B-birds are scary…" She explains, barely over a whisper. "One time, one ate my bread and bit me."

It takes a lot out of you not to burst out laughing at that, looking at your suddenly bashful friend. Denki and Pony however, don't even try.

"Sugah, he's no bird. He just looks like that. It's... quirk stuff." You try to explain, not sure of how much she already know about quirks, let alone genetic and mutations.

>"Hey, sorry for laughing." Denki says, wipping a tear off his face and kneeling by her side. "I get it though, it must've been scary, I got attacked by a crow once, too."

"Ah got mah leg broken by a goose." You add in, shuddering.

>"...What's a goose?" Yuka asks, sounding even more scared than before.

>"A swan chihuahua." Pony says with a nod… you aren't sure if that counts as an explanation, confusing everyone present… Even though you think she's right.

>"Yuka, Tokoyami is nothing if not an absolute gentleman. There's nothing to fear." Iida factually explains. It doesn't surprise you to see it have no effect.

>"...Worry not. Psychological scars don't heal that easily." Fumikage says, sighing. "Anyhow, her mother must be worried about her."

...He sounds hurt.

>"Did you has a meeting spot?" Pony asks the little girl. "My parents always made sure to set one up if we could get separated."

>"The big apple!" Yuka shouts as she remembers it, then starts looking around. "Oh…"

You all share glances again, all but Fumikage, who seems more interested than usual in his shoes.

None of you are even sure what this means.

>"...That's a bit far…" Pony mutters with a giggle.

>"It could be in Forest Sweets, there were apple decorations there." Iida hypothesizes.

>What do you do?

I think odds are decent the mother may already be there if her daughter is neither where she left her or at the Apple.

I noticed no mentions of Dark Shadow...
Is he legally not allowed to be out in public because just existing counts as public quirk use? Or is he just not interested in a daytime theme park outing? Because if it’s the former that’s kinda fucked up.

i assume its a mixture of both, since he does count as a quirk.
They should be used to it, even if they do not like it.
Sentient quirks should be among the rarest types in any case, so its a very fringe case and could carry a whole ethics debate class on its on.

"C'mon y'all, let's get movin'! Ah don't wanna leave a momma waitin' for her girl!" You tell your friends, taking a couple steps before realizing you really don't have a clue of where you are going in the large park. "Heh… Iida, sugah, why don'tcha take point?"

>"Of course, allow me to lead the way!" He says, overtaking your lead and looking back with a kind smile. "Don't worry Yuka, we'll find your mom soon."

"Hop on! Ah'm sure it'll be easier for your momma to spot ya this way!" You then tell the little girl, taking a knee. You can just pick her up with ease, but having her climb on her own will make her feel better, you think.

>"You... really think so?" Yuka asks, unmoving.

>"I know I do, she has a way to draw people's attention." Denki tells her with a smile, putting his hand on her tiny shoulder. "Need a hand?"

>"Uh, yes please." She answers, closing her hands in tiny fists and nodding enthusiastically.

As promised, Denki then picks her up and helps her sit on your shoulders, letting you all start the trip back to where you were earlier.

"Now, try to keep an eye out for your meetin' spot as we go!" You tell her as you walk behind Iida, retracing your previous path. "Tell us if anythin' feels senpai- Mow...!?"

It's a rather random mix of sounds that you let out as she grabs you by the horns and pulls you to the side, the surprise and shivers it sends down your spine allowing her to steer you to the side without you being able to do anything about it, making you bump into Denki.

>"Hey now, that's not nice." He tells Yuka before checking in on you. "Are you okay? You look... a bit shocked."

"Y-yeah, just… gonna put that in a box for later." You tell him with a strained smile, adding the sudden loss of control to the list of things you are not looking forwards to deal with later.

>"She's not used to being ridden yet." Pony notes from your left, raising her finger as if lecturing you all. "Bridles steer much more comfy, horns? Not nice."

>"...Sorry Miss Fluffy." Yuka then apologizes, earnestly patting your hair between your horns. "I didn't know…"

"Yeah… Next time ya wanna go somewhere, just tell me, okay?" You ask her, trying to not make her feel bad about it. "...Wait. Miss Fluffy?"

>"Can confirm." Denki comments, reaching for your head and fluffing your hair up even more. "Hey Yuka, what does that make me?"

>"You're Mister Blond." She tells him, matter of factly.

>"Now me!" Pony asks, keeping the pace.

>"Miss Horns, duh." The little girl continues, as if it was obvious.

"Why don'tcha go and stab me already…" You mutter under your breath, then shake the negative emotions out of your head. "To be fair, that's gotta be mah best nickname so far."

Going for your hair puts it above all others you've gotten, none of them surpassing chest height.
>>
>"I didn't think you'd be this good with children." Iida comments, looking over his shoulder at Denki. "Perhaps because you are so approachable? It's an essential quality for any good hero."

>"Y'think?" Denki blushes a bit at the praise.

>"You were sitting besides a bush talking alone, right?" Yuka starts, her voice clearly cheerful. "'Nothing to do but hang out with cute girls' you said, and I thought, my mommy calls me cute all the time! So I thought you could tell me where to go!"

Everyone turns around to look at Mr. Blond.

>"Guilty as charged." He says with a shrug, raising his hands as if to get cuffed. "If I want cute girls to be interested in me, I need to put effort into knowing them."

You share a quick glance with Pony, both of blushing a bit, with her giving you a smug smile.
Before you know what to say to that, your rider opens her tiny mouth again.

>"I'm interested!" Yuka says, an exclamation borne of innocence that nonetheless sends both you and Pony into hysterics, while Denki and Iida's sudden panic only makes it funnier.

Pony tries to imitate the same kind of laugh Momo has, covering her mouth with her hand, but as hard as she tries to keep it steady, it's still as much of a horse laugh as yours, throwing her head back and showing her teeth anyways.

>"Not like that!" Both boys tell the girl, flailing their arms as Fumikage covers his face with a hand, all of you starting to walk faster to leave the onlookers behind.

>"I mean, like, romantically!" Denki tries to explain himself to her.

>"...What's romantically?" She asks, genuinely curious.

>"Well, you see Yuka..." Iida tries to explain, faking a brief cough to organize his thoughts. "What he means with it is true romance, which comes from couples knowing one another, slowly taking the time to forge real bonds, and going on to start a family, even-"

You find yourself nodding softly in approval at his words, trying to not shake Yuka too much.

>"Hey now, you're going too deep into it." Denki stops him. "That's looong term stuff, no need to commit that much yet. Gotta live while we are still young, you know?"

>"Hey. We're at Forest Sweets." Fumikage points out before any argument can break out, pointing at one of many apple decorations now near you. "Is this where your mother told you to find her?"

>"No, not here. A way bigger apple, like... thiiis big!" Yuka answers, and you can see from the corner of your eye that she's stretching her little arms as far as she can.

>"Well then, I frequented this park as a child and I don't recall any giant apples…" Iida comments, unfolding his map once more. "...And nothing on the map hints at anything like that."

>"...I'm never gonna see my m-mommy again…?" Yuka starts, starting to sob.

Seeing as everyone starts panicking, you immediately take action, taking her off your shoulders and giving her a comforting hug.
>>
"No, sugah, no… We've just not found her yet! Nothin' more!" You tell her, as reassuring as you can be. "What Ah wouldn't give to have someone like Mei here, her Zoom quirk would really help with the search!..."

Your quirk could help, if you were to go max size and look around. It would certainly get you into trouble though.

>"Horn Cannon ain't much help finding…" Pony laments, kicking a small dust cloud with her hoof.

>"Yeah, any sort of eyesight quirk would come in real handy… Too bad my Electrification is pretty much useless here." Denki laments as well.

>"Mine isn't suited to discrete searching, either." Iida adds, shaking his head.

>"What's your quirk, Mister Glasses?" Yuka then asks him.

>It's Engine, it allows me to run very fast." He explains, pulling up one of his pants legs to show his blocky calf.

>"Ooh, cool." She says form your arms before looking dejected, at least a manageable kind of sad this time. "...I don't have my quirk yet."

"Don'tcha worry, you are in the right age for it to show up." You tell her, recalling what it was to spend days with artist gloves before you could control your new quirk at her age.

>"...Maybe we should just try the lost-children center?" Denki suggests.

>"There was no… uh-nouns-mints tho, so that means mommy didn't go there yet." Yuka points out, shutting him up.

"Well, damn." You mutter, letting her stand on her own. "Yer right."

>"I'mma ask the staff." Pony declares, pointing at a man operating a cotton candy cart in the distance before walking off.

>"And I'll go with her!" Denki declares, chasing after her, getting Iida to sigh for some reason, sounding relieved.

Looking around, you try to make the best of your situation… You may have gone to the wrong place, but the entire area is full of apple-themed decorations…

"Say, now that we are here, can you recognize what kind of apple are we looking for?" You ask her, pointing at some of the decorations around, hoping for some sliver of usable info.

>"...Like that one!" She says after a minute of looking around, pointing… up, over another nearby stand. "Just… waaay bigger!"

It takes you a second to get what she was pointing at.

"Sugah, that's a balloon." You tell her, looking at a bright red balloon tethered to the antlers of a walk-around character dressed as an elk with a green shirt and blue face paint, with dozens of balloons tied to his horns, giving them to the children that approach him.

>"Nuh-uh." Yuka refutes you, pulling a small book out of her bag and opening it for you. "Here it says that if it's round and red, then it's an apple!"

"An apple. A round apple. A red apple." You read, as it's all the page says, next to a picture of an apple.

>"...So, we are just looking for something big, round and red?" Iida asks, taking off his glasses and pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Hey, look at the silver linin' we wouldn't know it if we hadn't come here!" You tell him, handing Yuka her tiny book back.

>>
>"Much more than that! We know where to go!" Fumikage exclaims, dramatically pointing into the forest.

>"...The forest?" Iida asks, confused for a second, before explaining " ...The statues!"

Quickly calling your wayward friends back, you all dash back into the weirder part of the forest, to the giant statues of miscellaneous objects…

Including a huge, bright red, ball. And next to that ball, pacing and biting her nails, a clearly anxious woman in her early thirties.

>"Mommy!" Yuka cries, running after the woman before you can ask her anything.

>"Oh, Yuka! Where were you!? I was worried half to death…" The woman says, catching Yuka and embracing her.

It takes only a brief explanation of what happened and telling her to explain the little girl what apples actually are to calm her enough.

>"I'm so sorry you had to waste your time at the park to help us…" Yuka's mother says, taking a couple meal vouchers for the nearby eatery from her purse. "I can't thank you enough, but maybe this can help make up for it?"

Before you can reject it, Pony snatches them up, humming a melody you recognize from some videogame.

"'twas only right, ma'am." You tell her, glaring daggers at your compatriot.

>"And you, no getting lost again, okay, Yuka?" Denki tells the girl, ruffling her hair and making her giggle.

>"Say thank you to the nice couples and their friend, Yuka." Her mother tells her.

"Bwah?" You let out, not knowing what is she talking about.

>"Thanks you all!" She exclaims, giving a clumsy yet earnest bow.

You all wave them goodbye and start walking off, but before anyone can say anything about anything, you hear tiny hurried steps and Yuka's voice.

>"M-mister Bird!?" She calls out for, you guess, Fumikage.

>"What is it?" He simply asks, devoid of any emotion.

>"Um… Sorry for getting scared of you…" She slowly apologizes, it clearly takes her some effort. "You're way bigger than that other bitey bird… I thought you were gonna eat me up with that big beak..."

For a brief second, you worry it will only make him sadder, or maybe even mad.

Then he starts chuckling.

>"You need not worry about that, child. I'd rather have some apples." Fumikage says with a smile, his beak somehow accommodating it looks mighty weird to you, but it makes Yuka blush.

Then she just turns around and runs back to her mom.

>"That kid's totally gonna get lost again." Pony affirms, fanning herself with the free pie vouchers. "Now… Who's up for quest reward lunch!?"

>"I just wanna know who am I with and who's the friend." Denki says, grabbing his chin and thinking.

>"If we hurry we may still conquer the rest of the rides and attractions." Muses Fumikage, now clearly in a better mood. "I admit to be curious about the Haunted House… Although I would rather go for seconds on that pie… What a maddening dilemma."

>"I suppose there's nothing wrong with going for lunch now…" Iida says, sighing.

Once more settling down on a table in Forest Sweet's eatery, you all enjoy a hearty lunch of nary a healthy thing besides Iida's orange juice.

>"Ah, just as delicious." Fumikage says as he eats a second pie. The whole thing. Even you are impressed at that.

>"So… Have you all written your letters yet?" Iida suddenly asks, probably to make time between forkfuls of pie, as not everyone can eat as much of the thing as Fumikage.

>"Nope. I'm except." Pony answers, feebly waving her fork. "Hurray for loneliness…"

>"I've jotted down some stuff… But man, do we really need to read them in front of our parents?" Denki laments, slumping on his seat. "I bet you they would have asked for something more embarrassing if they could come up with it!"

>"Personally, I've penned over forty pages worth of gratitude." Iida announces, beaming with pride.

"Ain't that a bit much?" You ask, thinking back to the neat envelope on your desk.

>"Yeah… Why don't you recite it for all? We'd love to hear it. In fact, I'm sure it's good enough that it should be the only one read outloud!" Denki suggests, then looks straight at you. "Think you can make it happen, VP Walker?"

It reeks of desperation.

"...Ah don't think so sugah." You reply with a shrug, then address Iida. "Ah reckon you might wanna cut that down, tho."

>"I suppose... I can't eat into everyone else's time, after all…" Iida muses. "What about you, Walker? How's yours?"

You tap your chin and think about what you have written, what you are going to tell everyone you are thankful about, to Momma and whoever shows up...

Supporting. I enjoy that sentiment of Ushi being proud to read heartfelt thanks out loud, but would do so in english and maybe even with a whole bunch of slang so that it really is only meant for Ma and Pa’s ears. That has been true for Ushi quite consistently: Willing to be open with people but ultimately makes her intimate moments private. Or perhaps that is wishful thinking.

It'll be embarrassing enough to have your momma visit you at school, but

"It's not much… And Ah know she knows it all already, but Ah can't thank Momma enuff for all she's done for me… Not everyone goes halfway around the planet cuz their kid begs for a change of scenery..." You tell them, twirling a lock of hair to keep your nerves in check. It's, after all, pretty personal... "But Ah reckon most of y'all won't know the half of it! Ah'm leavin' all the mushy stuff in good ole Texan english!"

>"Hmm… I guess that's an option." Iida thinks out loud, pushing up his glasses. "Normally, requiring assignments to be turned in on Japanese would be redundant, since the recipient needs to be able to understand its contents, but since the intended recipient is your mother, writing in another language both of you share can work!"

You all spend a second looking at him after the overlong explanation.

>"I see Midoriya's rubbing off on you." Fumikage points out before shoving more pie up his beak, breaking the awkward silence.

>"So… What's the difference between Texan english and… you know, english?" Denki then asks.

"If Present Mic's assignments are any indication, none of ya will get a word of what Ah say." You smugly say, still somewhat annoyed at that time your english teacher had you redo your homework in formal english, calling it "Straight up whack".

>"Is right up here in "I dunno what was that" just under Scottish and Irish." Pony asserts with a nod, taking a break from sipping on her juice box from her seat to your side.

>"Well, how about we go do something?" Denki comments, stretching in his seat. "I've yet to finish that letter and I don't wanna think about it."

>"Of course!" Iida enthusiastically says, unfolding his map once more, making all of you take your food off the table before he covers it. "Do you see anything you like?"

>"Oh, I don't know… How about the log flume?" Denki suggests, tapping the attraction's icon on the map. "The sun is kinda strong today, we could go for some refreshing spins..."

>"I have a question." Fumikage speaks up, quickly pointing at all the attractions you've been to, carousel and teacups, and the ferris wheel. "Is everything here about spinning? I'd rather not partake in more whirling."

"There's Torrent Tilt-A-Whirl…" You try to point at a random attraction. "Hol' up…"

>"More spinning." Fumikage correctly summarizes.

>"Savanna Swings?" Pony suggests, pointing at an icon showing suspended chairs under a disk.

>"Even more spinning." Your bird-headed classmate points out.

"The Tree of Life!" You yell, pointing at another icon on the map.

>"...A spiral slide ride." He reads on the map's legend, raising an eyebrow.

>"Hang on…" Denki then says, tapping his chin. "...I'm starting to see a pattern."

>"Let's keep track of this, then." Iida says, taking out a pen and drawing a swirl on the map next to the spinning attractions.

To say that you spent 20 minutes discussing the merits of different rides wouldn't be an exaggeration.

>"All things considered, a calming ride atop the ferris wheel would be the best option." Iida concludes, looking at the scribbled-over map. "That's my own preference, of course, but we could take some three pods, enjoy the view and digest properly this time."

>"I think I'm doing us a favor, but a refreshing log ride is going to be the best for us all." Denki insists, seemingly trying to convince the other boys.

>"A chilling walk past paths forlorn would accomplish the same, if not more." Fumikage proposes, pointing at the haunted house icon on the map, one of the few non-spinning attractions.

>"What do you think?" All three ask almost in unison, looking in your and Pony's direction, the latter blushing slightly and smiling.

You can, puzzlingly, see Pony wag her tail.

There's few things you like more than having the freedom to do whatever you want, but you are pretty sure it's not fair take all the decisions yourself.

"Yeah Pony, what do ya think?" You ask your compatriot, leaning back on your seat.

She looks genuinely surprised at that.

>"Oh. Uhm…" She lets out as she leans over the table, one hand pointing at attractions while the other follows the bulletpoints at the map's margin before announcing her decision. "The Ferris Wheel!... We can do the other stuff after, right?"

You notice that her finger ends up on the seating capacity of the pods, but her finger covers the numbers themselves.

>"To raise to the skies and spite the sun..." Fumikage says, turning to look through a window and into the horizon.

You are not sure what that means, but hearing his grim quotes brings a smile to your face.
To you, it means he's feeling well.

>"Welp, Iet's go do that then!" Denki says, standing up and stretching his back, putting on a pair of sunglasses. "Maybe we can find something cool from up there."

>"Alright then!" Pony says, nodding vigorously and grabbing Iida's map by the margins, crumpling it closed, much to its owners visible dismay. "Let's go!"

You wonder if she's using short sentences to avoid misspeaking, now that she's the center of attention, hopping off her seat and starting to lead the way, peeking at the tortured map every few steps.

>"Oh… W-well then!" Iida says, keeping up a strained smile with clear effort as he follows her, falling behind of de group. "It is a good choice, after all."

"Oh come on sugah, let her have it!" You tell him, slowing down and walking besides him, letting Pony take the lead with Fumikage and Denki in between.

The latter takes the role of photographer, taking pics of the attractions and your friends, keeping his phone between shots lined up with your lead's back, leaving you no way to know if he's staring at her or not.

For all of Pony's excitement to go, it seems like you and your friends are amongst a very small group of people interested in the slow ride, letting you in in a matter of minutes.

>"Now, we gotta split up!" Pony dictates, pointing at the sign by the pods's entrance, showing the pods's capacity. Two adults and two children, approx. "Why don't you two go first?"

"Wait. Us?" You ask, pointing a thumb at your chest, then at Iida by your side.

>"Well, we need to split up in at least two groups…" He says, whipping his arms in a way that reminds you of a cleaver separating a choice cut into two.

"Oh yeah, Ah guess-" You say, trying to take a second to think it through.

Pony, apparently, disagrees.

>"Great!" She says, placing her hands on your back and pushing hard enough to have the heel of your boots skid on the platform, getting you into the pod.

Her big puppy eyes make it all too easy to forget how strong she is.

"Hey! What gives!?" You ask her, to which she replies with a knowing wink, letting you know… Something.

It feels like something you wouldn't have gotten a week ago, but with more social experience, you are almost certain she's asking you to trust her.

...Not that she gave you an option.

Iida she just lets enter on his own, without anything but a small pat on the back.

>"Have fun!" She says as she closes the door, much to the ride attendant's chagrin.

As your pod is lifted a couple feet to let your friends board the next one, you can see Pony blushing yet beaming as she's offered to enter first by both Denki and Fumikage.

"<Oh, Pony you horse.>" You mutter with a small smile. You need to remember to ask her about this later.

The the wheel starts spinning, raising you above the rest of the park, slowly revealing all the attractions you've seen, paths you've walked and even the silly red ball statue you found Yuka's mom next to.

>"It's been an exciting day so far, hasn't it?" Iida then asks, covering his mouth as if he were to cough. He never does, however.

"Helpin' a lil' girl, runnin' around and stuffin' ourselves, Ah'd call that the good kinda excitin', yeah..." You answer, looking at the shrinking park below. "You know, Ah've been higher than this."

>"Well, there's no shortage of large buildings…" He starts, then looks around a bit more. "In the city, at least. This park is fairly isolated."

He's right. A small train stop, a parking lot, a tiny hotel and the highway are all you can see around the park itself, homely fields surrounding it all.

People you see every day, the open grassy field is special, rippling with white waves as the unkempt grass shimmers under the bright spring sun.

"Ah meant, taller, by mahself." You point out, walking up to the glass panel, now looking down at the families on the paths, feeling the relaxing warmth of the light on skin and bark. "You'd think it'd ruin this kinda stuff, but Ah don't think it does…"

>"You can't use your quirk for sightseeing." He guesses, walking up to the same panel. "Not without breaking quite a few rules, that is."

"'yuup." You nod, not very interested in the topic.

>"This is the exact kind of situation my brother told me to avoid." He muses out loud, actually piquing your interest.

"What do ya mean?" You ask, looking at him with a raised eyebrow.

>"Awkward silences and non-talks, as he called them..." Iida explains, his openness half confusing you and half intriguing you, yet shrinking under your scrutiny.

"And you think talkin' bout your bro's gonna make it less awkward?" You ask, genuinely curious.

>"W-well, you asked… And I thought you'd appreciate honesty." He says, taking a step back. "...I really don't know how to ask about you… Without making it awkward, I mean."

You just raise an eyebrow and stare at him blankly for a couple of awkward seconds. Then you crack a smile, and then… then you break out in giggling.

Just who does he think he's talking to? Momo? You are as clueless, if not more, than he is.

However, you stop yourself from bursting out into laughter, sobering at the sight of his anxious expression.

"That makes two of us, sugah. Ah have no clue how to do that either." You tell him, waving your arms in front of your face. "Heck, if there's anyone who truly understands makin' things awkward without meanin' to, you're lookin' at her!"

>"I believe you to be more graceful than that." He says, combing his hair with his fingers. Fidgeting, if you had to guess.

"Well… Ah wouldn't say that… But thank you, sugah" You mutter, scratching the back of your neck, sliding your hand under your mess of a hairdo, and looking down at the park's roads. "Ah'd just say Ah'm rough enough to roll with the awkward, so shoot sugah, ask some stuff, say some stuff, Ah won't judge."

>"I… I don't think I know you well enough." IIda says, taking a step closer to the panel and looking down with you.

"Well enough for what?" You ask, trying to pry some sort of answer out of him.

>"Well… To say what I'd like to say." The bespectacled boy responds without saying much at all.

"If you ain't tellin', then Ah reckon' we're just gonna go in circles." You shoot back, unamused.

>"The… Uhm… calling it “the plan” sounds sinister." He thinks out loud, shaking his head a bit and crossing his arms as if blocking a frontal attack. "I had hoped we'd get to know each other better on this trip. Then I could ask..."

You look at him. Then blink. Then blink again, not sure of what to think.

"Are you bein' cryptic on purpose now?" You ask him with a cheeky smile, trying to make light of the situation.

He leans back and takes a deep breath, the kind that makes you think he's readying himself for the 100 meter dash. Why races don't use actual measurements, you still don't know.

>"I've come to admire what you've done so far." He says, pointing at you with his entire arm, almost like a karate chop. "At the tests, the tournament…in class as well. Beyond that, what you seem to do and like on your own time, cooking, training, hosting and more. I would be lying if I said there isn't any physical attraction, but I..."

You take a cautious step to the side, giving yourself some breathing room, giving little thought to the people running down below.

>"I like you, Walker. And I would be glad if we could start seeing each other, if not now, later." He says, exhaling deeply and bowing. "I hope I didn't make you too uncomfortable."

Oh yeah. A surprise confession.

HOW COULD THAT BE UNCOMFORTABLE IN AN ENCLOSED INESCAPABLE SPACE!?
>>
You aren't quite sure why exactly your face is heating up, but noticing the clear panel next to you starting to become foggy only makes it worse.

Luckily, he then also takes a step away.

>"I had hoped to say it at a better time, in a nicer place." Iida says, sitting down. "Feel free not to respond or rebuke. Last thing I would want is to ruin your day..."

It's all too...

Locked up, hanging over a hundred feet above ground, getting a confession you had no way to see coming and the way his heart lays bare for you to take or crush or... or...

It's all too much.

Instinctively, you begin pulling on your top's strap, exhaling slowly and hiding under a fake, confident smile, a familiar mask to hide behind as you try to pull yourself together when making someone eat their teeth isn't an option.

Because he's one of the few boys who actually as acted like Ushi is a girl, and he's not the one we broke up with because he tricked us into wearing a cheerleader outfit.
Why, who do you want her to end up with?
>>
>>4334927
>Why, who do you want her to end up with?

Shoto. Or, at least, not Iida.
>>
>>4334899
To be honest, if Ida hung around us more I wouldn't be opposed to it. As of right now Ushi barely knows much about him and he's jumped the gun. He's basically an acquaintance. I could see it happening after we had done a couple of runs with him and talking more, but I'm in the no for right now camp.
>>
>>4334930

Agreed.
>>
>>4334928
Why Shoto? That is gonna be the most Co-dependent relationship. We're his only friend and he doesn't even act romantic to us. That's just weird.

>>4334930
Hey, we went to see him in the hospital, we fiddled with his leg, we've been hanging out with him and our other ex had just a hell of a lot less 'knowing us' before we dated him for several months.
>>
>>4334635
>[Accept and grab his hand, maybe more. "...Sure." (Charm, Face)]

There is no harm in trying. If it works out it works out. if it doesn't, its probably not a permanent harm.
>>
>>4334936
>Why Shoto?

We're rather complementary.
>>
>>4334939
If this is weird eugenics stuff, I know who's posting this, no. 2.
>>
>>4334941

Nah. Ushi views herself as her own person, and her quirk is a fusion of her parents' quirks. Shoto's quirks are split down a line, and so are his views on his quirk; father's on one side, mother's on the other.

There's definitely more, but I don't remember where it is in the discord.
>>
>>4334938
School is as a good time as any to try romance out.
>>
>>4334944
That's not really complementary. That is more reason to never date Shoto. Ushi should be his friend and get him out of this terrible mental place and set him up with someone who will also help him.
>>
>>4334653
Has it only been a month since we started? We had our hands deep in his legs the first day of class. Geeze, time does fly.
>>
>>4334949
quirk stuff isn't really a reason, one way or the other. but on the pro-shoto side, they have a really nice dynamic and if the goal you want is to set him up with someone who will help him, why not the gal who already does? not like being his gf means we can't help in the friend way as well
>>
>>4334962
Because he hadn't and has never made any attempt to act he wants to be romantic. This is all on our side, not even Ushi's either. Nothing she has done has been 'I want to date him' it's 'I need to keep this fragile friendship working'. Hell, we're more romantic with Momo than Shoto.
>>
>>4334965
Sure, but we haven't acted very romantic with Iida either, just defensively flirty like twice and oblivious the other times. By your logic, we should date Momo instead.

Also, it's only been a month. We barely know him in quest.
>>
>>4334965
personally, a big thing going for IIda over Shoto. Is that iida asked. It just seems weird for me to say no now in the hopes of someone else asking later. Though his timing is bad. he was trying to avoid it though.
>>
>>4334974
We didn't even flirt with him, we nerded out about engineering with his leg, we went to see him in the hospital and have offered to go running with him. And like >>4334976 said, he's asked us out. Twice. At least this time we actually noticed.
>>
>>4334936
I think Denki was a learning experience for Ushi. She was less confident in herself before and was very flirty to compensate for that, and dating Denki was more of the same. I think nowadays she would be more choosy and would rather say no than start dating someone she has no idea if she has compatibility with them, if only to avoid leading them on.
>>
>>4334979
I mean, maybe? But even if that is the case, Iida and Ushi have the same opinion on romance and very similar opinions on heroing and the like.
>>
>>4334978
We did way at the beginning. But true, I'll grant you that, but none of them really had romantic overtures on Ushi's part.

We may have noticed this time, but have we really noticed Iida much at all before in character?
>>
>>4334984
I'd say more than a few times. We went to see him when he was hurt, I think there was some stuff at the birthday party, and we have offered to run with him.
>>
>>4334635
>>[...Later? "Yeah… You're right, later! That'd be better! Somewhere else, too?"]
>>
>>4334984

Nope
>>
>>4334994
You're right, >>4334984 is wrong.
>>
>>4334991
Sure, we did go to see him when he was hurt. But we also went to see Shoto and Deku and there was definitely more of a focus with Shoto there. The offer to run was at the end and not really that in depth on Ushi's part either.

By birthday party, do you mean the rooftop party? We invited our whole class for that. He wasn't at our birthday party.
>>
>>4335007

100%
>>
>>4335007
I don't remember us actually worrying about Shoto the whole Hospital trip. Didn't we ignore him over something?
But yeah, the rooftop party and the cute stuff at the rescue that disguised Allmight broke up.
>>
>>4335015
That something was feelings of jealousy when we saw that picture of Shoto with Burnin. We confronted Shoto over it at the hospital, which made it awkward. So we were worrying over Shoto in that sense.
>>
>>4335025
I do not remember that confrontation. I remember Ushi acting weird over Shoto having a girlfriend, though.
>>
>>4335030
That's confronting shoto on Burnin
>>
>>4335030

And she's not his girlfriend, but a sidekick of his father's who wanted to tease Ushi & Shoto.
>>
>>4335030
That was the confrontation, anon. Ushi was acting weird, aka jealous, over that one photo with Burnin and Shoto.

I'm not going to say that locks us in with Shoto because we also have only known him for just about a month. But we certainly know him better than Iida and Ushi has had romantic hints with Shoto.

And that is why I personally voted "no". Plus, dude confessed when we're in a situation where we can't escape physically. Even unintentional, that's not ideal for a confession.
>>
>>4334635
>[No. "Ah, shucks sugah, but Ah… Ah'd rather not?"(Charm, Face)
>>
>>4335052
No, I mean I didn't remember actually bringing it up at the hospital. I remember seeing the picture and some anons going 'Jealous' for no reason.
I also don't remember any romantic hints from Ushi. I remember her blowing him off and going 'Apology Noodles, please don't be mad (and give me back my relationship dice)'.
But you are right about the bad place for a confession. But not sure why 'No' and not 'Later' then.
>>
>>4335059
>I remember her blowing him off

We didn't blow him off. We accidentally made him made.
>>
>>4335060
Yeah, 'cause we decided to sit with Deku and Iida, right?
>>
>>4335059
>for no reason.

Because Ushi was acting jealous when another girl was getting close to Shoto.
>>
>>4335062
Which is weird 'cause we've never acting like that before with Shoto, and we haven't acted like that since.
>>
>>4335061

No, 'cause of the whole "You're your father's son." thing at the arcade.
>>
>>4335066

Ushi was bonding with Shoto since before classes started.
>>
Ahem. Momo.
>>
>>4335071

>>
>>4335067

>>
>>4335068
I checked the timeline. About two months.
>>4335059
Anon, I'm saying this because I'm not going to debate this any longer: please reread the quest.

I'll admit I may have gotten things wrong, but you're mixing up the events to support your argument and this debate is not on even footing as it is now.
>>
>>4335078
>And he is?

Nah, Shoto is his own person. That's what Ushi explained to him when she brought over the noodles. She wanted to properly tell him what she meant, 'cause we fucked the roll up then.

Also, yeah, reread the quest.
>>
>>4335079
I mean i was rescanning the quest for a few things, checking out the BBQ and yeah, Iida feels even better choice now. They are super cute together and the face-failures are hilarious. Shoto still feels like 'emotionless best friend who we need to actually match up with someone, maybe Burnin for his emotional support'.
>>
>>4335085
At one point, I totally did prefer Iida. But since that point and because of a few developments, that has changed. Ironically, I think Iida may have shot himself in the foot by responding to the flirt. This is my reading of the character, and ooc reasoning tho.

Iida responded to the flirting, and Ushi developed that as a backup plan to make other people as awkward as her, and she probably had to deal with similar proposals in the past. Iida has done everything with us as a pretense for a possible relationship. With that context, I don't believe Ushi would be comfortable dating him, especially after Denki did something similar. They took the bait. Shoto on the other hand has been entirely treating us as a friend and classmate no matter how much we screw around with panic flirting. That's absolutely going to be more appealing to Ushi from how I read it.

Ooc, I like Iida's dynamic, but Shoto has a great dynamic as well, and it comes with an arc about him struggling with what his father expects if we even just ask him out. There's more to a relationship with him than just being together and that's it. And the drama presented isn't artificial, it's well established. It won't be "Iida is mad because you didn't spend time with him".
>>
>>4335211

Exactly! Also some pretty good points I didn't think about.
>>
I think not jumping for it but going on a date as friends to get to know each other a bit like we did with Denki makes sense as well though. The thing is the best thing for pumping the brakes and taking it slow is the “no not now” response.
>>
>>4335211
And that is my exact reason to NOT date shoto. It's literally 'first guy' syndrome because we really havent had a CHANCE to see what any of the other guys are doing. We dont meet with any of them outside class. At all. Because 'nope, cant be seen with a guy or else you're dating' japanese rules that I wish mic would just ignore for the sake of letting us have friendships with guys. Also, he has shown himself to be clingy when other guys are involved, probably because we're his only relationship. I'd prefer friendship over anything romantic with shoto. Not saying go for Iida, but I really dont want to do anything with shoto atm.
>>
>>4334878
>>4334635
Changing to this.
>[...Later? "Yeah… You're right, later! That'd be better! Somewhere else, too?"]
>>
>>4335225
Now you're just wrong. We train with Shoto weekly. We met with Bakugo to smash shit up. And that's just off the top of my head.
>>
>>4335225
>>4334635
On that note
>[...Later? "Yeah… You're right, later! That'd be better! Somewhere else, too?"]
Being truthful, I dont think I like this development. Seems tailor made for rejection because there's plenty of reason IC for her to be iffy on this decision. Would have liked it if Iida had been a bit more forward about being a friend of our after the first 'rejection' so we could have some more screen time, because as it is there's really only one guy who we've spent the most time with that somehow managed to circumvent the japanese society rules BS.
>>
>>4335225
To get at what you're trying to say, I'm not particularly swayed by the "first boy" argument. If Shoto also approached it from a place of responding to our flirting, I'd have the same reservations. But he hasn't. He's clearly interested, if you can't see that then you really should reread the quest, but he hasn't tried to act on it because he knows we deal with that a lot and he values us more as a friend than a romantic prospect. This is a healthy mindset to keep and is why I think things can be different with him. If Deku expressed interest, or Fumikage outside of his Id saying we're dungeon mayerial, I'd give them the same point in their favor. And correct me if I'm wrong, but he hasn't been clingy since Stain, when he became friends with Deku and Iida and Ushi wasn't his only close friend. If Shoto asks, which I hope he won't, answer wouldn't be yes for me. But I think Ushi asking him would be in character at a point given the whole thing would bear no resemblance to the shit she dealt with in America.

Also, it's not like it's a route lock, and Shoto might even say no.

It's not first guy syndrome if you have other reasons to vote for Shoto, though. It's mere coincidence that they were the first guy; my reasons are far more complex, and I would assume so of most others who are throwing their ten gallon hat into that choice.
Honestly, reducing it down to 'first guy syndrome' is just insulting.

I don't want Shoto because he was the first boy. I want him because he's a good lad who needs emotional support. That and the idea of Endeavor of shipping them for eugenics reasons and trying to "help" his son despite having no understanding of how romantic relationships work is going to be funny as shit. What's going to be even better is that once Endy starts the redemption arc he will probably come to Ushi to ask for advice on how to fix his marriage which opens up even more possibilities for comedy gold.

Dayum. I'm pretty darn sure this doesn't need to be as serious as people seemed to think it was. I'm not complaining, mind you, that's a good thing if you're role-playing a teenager.

But experience generally teaches that these sorts of school relationships either burn really hot and flame-out quickly (catastrophically at times), or just kind of drag on for a little while without really going anywhere until they get awkward or stale and someone finally shoots the elephant in the room.

Nailing down a good relationship that lasts this early in life is pretty darn rare. In the mean time, kids will be kids and hopefully live and learn.

They are both goofballs. But they are also both respectful, generally honest and basically good kids. They should be okay no matter how this turns out.

>Dice god laughter intensifies.
>>
>>4336446
It's based on a shonen capeshit anime, and you expect it to adhere to realism of high school romance instead of what provides drama? It'd be pretty shit if all the potential relationships we had presented to us were likely doomed to failure, instead of being a side plot to enjoy between the main plot.

But yes, you are very emotionally mature, good job anon, we were all being silly and roleplaying for caring what trajectory the story takes on one of its side plots. We can all be less serious about it, and instead not explain our reasoning on what we believe is the most appealing option.

That seems boring, so I guess you can take pride in having the least meaningful take.
>>
>>4336477
Easy now, spoonman.

I just think it's a bit early to start locking in long range plans around any of the cast. There really isn't enough to go on yet to form any conclusion that's going to be compelling. Trying to force the issue is just going to be a drag.

Besides, Ushi already has experience with this sort of thing. She just got spooked by the sudden admission. Not the best state of mind to come up with a serious answer.

I'm reading this as a light-hearted scene, not one that needs pages and pages of deliberation.

All my friends are brown and red.

Experience from home has taught you that people don't take kindly to rejection, to put it lightly.

Even with Denki bucking that trend and most of your classmates being nothing but nice, you can't help feeling distressed at having no room to hoof it.

This lack of trust in your classmate makes you feel guilty, ashamed even.

So you just stare at him momentarily, trying to figure out how to say in the best, gentlest and kindest way you can that you are not interested.

You take a deep breath and steel yourself, biting your lip and pulling on your top and bra's straps, the sting of the bands hitting your skin helping you think, keeping you alert and wound up like a spring under tension.

"Ah, shucks sugah, but Ah… Ah'd rather not?" You tell him, slowly tilting your head to the side once more, your all too wide eyes surely betraying your nervousness. "Ah just don't feel the same way, sorry… Does friends work for ya, sugah?"

>"That's… not unexpected." He says, sighing and placing his palms together in front of his face for a second, before lowering them to reveal a small, kind smile. "I only hope that as time passes and we get to properly know one another, I may ask again."

You just keep staring for a couple more seconds.

"That's it?" You ask, barely more than a whisper, but loud enough to be heard within the pod.

>"Indeed." He answers, standing back up and pointing at himself with one arm and waving the other all around the pod, inches short of hitting you by accident. "I didn't want to ask this here, nor today. Maybe, if we had spent some more time enjoying each other's company it might have been different… But that's not what happened. You spoke your mind, there's nothing else to say on the matter."

In an instant, you feel all that tension, all that nervousness and the tinge of fear in the back of your mind... vanish.

"<Oh, thank God!>" You loudly say, reaching for your friend and pulling him in for a hug, thankful for your day of fun not getting spoiled. "Thank ya too, Iida. Not everyone has been as nice."

You aren't sure how you would have handled having to avoid one of your and Shoto's new friends, making you glad that you just don't have to deal with any of that.

>"I'm… getting some mixed signals, Walker." He says as you hold him, his ears reddening as you press against him, standing on your toes, and placing your chin on his shoulder.

"Oh, c'mon sugah! This is clearly not a lovin' hug, just a friendly one." You tell him, briefly patting him on the back, then letting him go.

Taking a step back after releasing him, you watch as he readjusts his glasses, covering most of his face with his hand as he does so. As you suspected, now every bit of his face you can see is somewhat flushed.

You are about to comment on it when the wheel seemingly stops, making it feel like someone pulled a rug from under your feet, sending both you flailing to the ground.

Maybe he would have been able to stabilize himself, but with the limited space and your own top-heaviness making you fall over him, it's only natural that he ended under you.

You quickly scramble to stand up before making things awkward, giving the boy whatever space you can and looking up to a blinking red light over the pod's door, next to an embedded speaker.

>“Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention please. Due to an unforeseen emergency, we must regrettably but temporarily, shut down all powered attractions." The speaker blasts, a tad too loud for such a small space. "For your own safety, we ask you to please stay clear of the powered attractions and follow the staff's directions. If you are currently within one, please locate the nearest emergency exit and immediately but calmly vacate the attraction, where applicable. Otherwise please stay seated until Heroes arrive and staff can retrieve you.”

"Now what the heck…" You mutter, scanning the park outside the pod.

A couple things are plain to see.

The first thing being how all those people are clearly running away from one specific building, but there doesn't seem to be a where to. It doesn't look like there needs to be one either, as people stop running away at a certain distance, turning around to look at the one attraction still moving in the park.

Much like the ferris wheel you are currently in, the carousel, and every other attraction and ride you can see have stopped. The Haunted House's scarecrow however, seems to be moving unimpeded, the simple animatronic eerily crawling in the building's shadow.

Weird. But a single silly robot wouldn't cause all this...

The second sighting, however, gets a chuckle out of you. By sheer luck, the wheel stopped when your and your friends' pods were more or less at the same height, allowing you to peer into theirs and see the haphazard pile of limbs within, as they clearly have a harder time standing up with their more limited space, something made even worse by Pony's ridiculously long horns.

After a couple of moments with enough horn grabbings to leave Pony red and you with all the ammunition for teasing you may ever need, they manage to stand up and separate themselves, Fumikage and Pony looking away from each other, and Denki clearly trying to calm everyone down.

>"...Walker. Do you have any idea of where my glasses may have landed?" Iida then asks, looking at the floor, slowly dragging his foot around, likely trying to find them. "The situation sounds dire, but I can't pretend to help with impaired vision."

You spend a couple of seconds staring at him, noting just how different he looks without his glasses. Somehow, losing the glass squares makes him look far softer than his normal look, which you can describe with the word square.

"Oh, yeah... 'yup." You say, shaking your head and turning around, quickly digging into your cleavage and pulling out the item in question, cleaning the glasses on your fuzzy bunny ears before handing them back to him.

For all your minimal effort to have him not see that, your friends at the other pod clearly did.

>"Thank you." IIda says, then faces the panel once more, waving his arms around, pointing at the park itself. "Now, there's no way any heroes make it to Zoo Dreamland in less than half an hour unless this is a major villain attack, so we would be stuck here for a while."

You know you could kick the flimsy metal door open, or bend it enough to get out anyways. And you could certainly use your quirk to get yourself and Iida down, but all of that would be very disruptive and very likely to get you scrubbing floors again if not worse.

Getting your friends help though? Probably better for everyone.

"Yeah, there's… nothin' near this place." You agree, looking at the area around the park too. While you can think of a couple heroes that could make it in less than a half-hour, you doubt it is bad enough to call upon Hawks or All Might.

You look at your friends in the other pod, and pull out your phone, pointing at it for a second before calling Denki, as his name shows up first in your contacts.

"Everyone. Plan. Now." You say the moment he picks up, activating the loudspeaker.

>"Wonder what's going on down there?" Denki asks, holding his phone up for your mutant friends to hear.

>"At best, a malfunctioning attraction, a villain at worst." Iida summarises. "And I don't think it's the former. We should at least go check what's going on."

>"Man, dunno if you’ve noticed, but there's a pretty big drop between us and the ground." Denki points out, and you can see him physically point down in his pod. "We were told to stay put too."

"Well, let's call it a creative evacuation then." You say, rolling your eyes. "Now how do we all get down there? You know, in one piece and without goin' splat."

>"I can do that." Fumikage and Pony both say in stereo, quickly glancing at each other and then looking away.

"Great! now-" You try to coordinate a response but they drown you out.

>"I thought you were more of an emu than a flying type bird." Denki comments

>"...Really?" Fumikage growls.

>"Wait." Pony interjects, sounding genuinely surprised and pointing at herself. "...I don't get doubts?"

"Sugah, when the horned horse tells you she can fly, you don't ask questions." You explain with a sigh.

>"First, Pony. Second, fair enough." She emphasizes, grabbing the door's handle and shaking it. "Aw. It's closed. No keyhole either."

>"Oh, let me handle this one." Denki says, scooting up to his pod's door and giving it a tap that briefly illuminates the pod, making your phone screech like it was possessed and making the door swing open.

"Frying the lock? Neat!" You cheer him on, his smug smile visible from your vantage point showing that he appreciates it.

>"We should strive to cause the least damage possible!" Iida insists, pointing at your own pod's door with both arms.

>"Relax man! I just picked it!" the blond boy says, raising a hand in the shape of an O and looking even smugger. "I just improvised an electromagnet and pulled the solenoid bolt free!"

>"...Do you have any idea what any of those words even mean?" Fumikage asks him, placing a hand on his shoulder and pulling him away from the open door and possible free fall.

>"Not really, that's just how Mineta explained it when he was showing me how to pick locks." He answers nonchalantly, revealing rather chilling information.

>"So, door's open. Now how do we get down there? I'm not that much of a climber, you know?" Denki continues, peeking out of the open door.

Right after he says that, Pony peeks out as well, her horns briefly glowing as they shoot off her head and stop in mid-air a few yards in front of her pod as a new pair of horns grow to replace them.

>"I can lower us?" Pony offers, the tip of her tongue poking out of her mouth as she focuses on moving the horns around, making them twirl in the air.

>"Dark Shadow could simply glide down while carrying us." Fumikage points out. "Of course, it would be trivial for him to also bridge the pods together."

"Great! Let's get goin' then!" You tell them, nearly punching the palm of your hand but stopping yourself short of hitting your phone. "Get Denki over here and let's see what's going on."

>"Do I go with Tsunotori or-" Denki tries to ask, but this time you are the one to butt-in.

"Pony, Fumikage, please get movin'..." You ask them, pinching the bridge of your nose.

The descent was an easy but exciting affair after the call ended, with Dark Shadow holding on to Pony's floating horns with one arm to achieve something resembling flight. Pony for her part, was tightly held by Fumikage while Denki was in the grasp of the specter's other claw, even as he nervously shocked your pod's door open. Your contribution to the impromptu glider was simply shrinking Denki, Iida and yourself for ease of transportation within Pony's hands, but you still enjoyed the spinning trip down as Dark Shadow's large, fluid shadow arms made a really good impression of a pair of wings after Pony let her disembodied horns drop.

>"Did you really need to have us spin?" Fumikage asks his quirk upon landing.

>"No. I just know you hate it." Dark Shadow snarks before turning to you and Pony. "So… When's our turn at the pettin-"

Then, like a tape measure with its thumblock lifted, the sentient quirk is pulled back into Fumikage.

You only take a couple seconds to recover from the dizzying landing and to return everyone back to normal size.

Only a couple seconds, the sounds of crashes and screams don't allow any of you to rest for longer before everyone’s instinct makes you run towards the Haunted House; dashing past the rubberneckers and into a clearly overworked group of security personnel, holding back new crowds of onlookers.

>"Get back people! Get back!" The security guards yell, trying to disperse the stubborn bystanders along with your friends.

>"PLEASE! MY BABY'S STILL THERE… LET ME GET MY YUKA, PLEASE!" A familiar voice yells.

"...Ain't that Yuka's momma?" You ask, looking at your friends for confirmation, all giving you worried nods. "Okay then, let's get closer."

You take point, pushing through the crowd and into the area surrounding the black, faux decrepit house, until seeing Yuka's mother being held back as well by a couple of security guards.

>"She's still in there…" She pleads in desperation, clearly about to break into tears, but the guards don't budge.

>"Please, just wait here ma'am, we are trying to-Huh!?" One of the guards tries to calm her, but the sudden shrieks of metal being torn apart, the sound of crashing wood and shattering glass that blasts from the Haunted House interrupts him.

>"D-do not approach the attraction people! And, ma'am, we've called in a hero to deal with the situation, so please be patient for a bit longer…" The other guard holding her back tries to calm her as well.

>"But my daughter…" Yuka's mother continues pleading, shaking in place, staring at the Haunted House as the security guards return to the ever-growing crowd.

You all share a glance as you draw near, unsure how to handle this situation.

"Ma'am! What happun'?" You say as you approach the distraught woman.

>"We… We were just walking through the haunted house…" She starts, seemingly recognizing you. "Then Yuka disappeared! And the puppets, they…"

Once again, a loud crash from inside the attraction distracts you all.

>"Yuka… no…" And with that, the heart-wrenching water works begin.

>"I'll find your daughter, ma'am." Iida says, sounding as serious as you've ever heard him, yet trying to reassure her with a wide smile. "Please, don't worry."

At U.A., he always sounds serious. Considering every little thing earnestly as everything else, be it someone running in the halls or a school-wide announcement. But here and now, he sounds not only serious, but solemn.

>"Eh?" It's all the frazzled mother manages to say back.

Iida merely turns around and walks confidently towards the Haunted House, its exterior denoted by signage in both English and Japanese. The former reading “Hounted Hause”, the grammatical error adding extra spooks.

Another set of shared glances is all it takes for you and the remaining 1-A boys to nod and follow, with Pony following a second later.

>"How're you planning to do that?" Denki asks the most important question.

>"By venturing inside, naturally." Iida answers, going around the Haunted House. "Years ago, during a trip with my brother, we found a hidden passage in the back of the Haunted House. We could get in trouble for this, so feel free to stay here and keep watch, but I'm going to do what's right. There's no time to lose."

Looking under a boarded up window, the bespectacled boy starts pushing panels until one caves in, swinging open like a large pet door, large enough to crawl through.

>"Really? What's the point in that? I'm coming in too." Denki declares. "I've seen what animatronics can do in games, man. You'll need all the help you can get."

There are many things you could say about her hesitation, many of then less than kind.
But you don't say anything like that. She's got a valid point, you aren't heroes yet and this could get you into whole lot of trouble.

You just don't care.

"Yer right sugarcube, but we've gotta get Yuka safe and ah reckon it doesn't take a full hero nor our own quirks to care about a child's safety. Ah won't force ya to come with, but we'll be back with her right quick." You tell Pony, patting her between the horns. "You could stick around or with Yuka's momma n' tell the guards that you're waiting for your friends that went on the ride earlier to come out of the house if they come a-snoopin."

Having said that, you wink at her, hoping she'll both take it well and agree to help.

>"...Get moving, she's scared in there." She says, then leans closer and hugs you, whispering to your ear. "<I'll keep you covered, I'm like, the best at fooling people.>"

You see her wink back before turning around, trotting into the crowd.

>"We are going in, Walker!" Iida announces, directing your attention towards the passage in a way not unlike a marshaller to a plane before getting on his hands and knees, crawling through the wall. "How strange. I recall this place being far larger…"

Fumikage follows, silently at first, then-

>"...This is the work of a powerful darkness." He decrees as he continues without hesitation. "A quirk, perhaps, or something far more sinister..."

>"You go first, I'll watch the rear." Denki tells you, snapping his fingers for a flash of light.

"How can ya tell?" You ask Fumikage as Denki ushers you in. "-Thanks sugar!"

A second later, you don't need an explanation anymore. Every single emitter quirk you know of releases an energy of sorts when in use, an energy that can be faintly felt when the quirk is used really close to you.

Not quite the case here. The moment you cross the wall and emerge inside the dark house, you can feel it all over you. While Deku's quirk feels like a pressure cooker, Shoto's feels like the moment you jump from scalding to nival waters, Dark Shadow's touch feels like the blotch of ink test is taking you and Bakugo's explosions hurt, the all encompassing darkness feels like an oil spill in a thrashing sea.

"Yeah… That's a quirk alright." You comment as you stand up amongst the debris, shuddering as the sensation fades away.

>"...Can you hear that?" Denki asks slowly standing up, holding a hand to his ear.

Following suit, you can make something out, just in time for your eyes to become accustomed to the dark, seeing several animatronics shuffling towards you, their joints jerking in ways you are sure the servos shouldn't allow.

>"I presume these are not men in costumes?" Fumikage calmly asks, clearly in his element.

>"No. This haunted house is meant to entertain children all day long, every ghost and monster is animatronic." Iida answers, standing still and observing the situation.

>"Pretty sure those aren't supposed to move without power…" Deki comments, barely stopping himself from stuttering.

"Why comes later, Yuka's frist." You tell him.

...Perhaps too loudly, as the shuffling noises stop, then the clawing and stomping begins.

It's dark, full of broken glass and furniture and what feels like dozens of robots in suits are coming after you.

>What do you do?

Under different circumstances you'd have liked to stop and have a chuckle at the situation. A horde of damaged animatronics once representing monsters of myth and pop culture along with cloth puppets and even the plastic spiders on just as fake cobwebs hobble towards you and your friends with what feels like murderous intent…

...And you aren't a bit worried about it at all, partly due to having been through a far scarier attempt on your life already, but the subdued humor is mostly thanks to Yuka.

You know you could reduce them all to scrap if you need to, but that little girl…

"These are none of our business! Let's skedaddle and find Yuka!" You yell, figuring that since you were already noticed, there was not much point in being subtle now. "Find the girl and get out, we ain't here to pick a fight!"

>"Indeed, nothing should ever come before saving the innocent!" Iida agrees, his voice exuding that same solemnity as before. He dashes ahead, past the gruesome menagerie and into the next room while calling for the lost girl. "Where are you, Yuka? Give us a sign!"

]"Getting the fuck away from the murderbots, great! Best idea ever, really!" Denki yells as he follows Iida's lead, barely making it past a lunging yuki-onna popping out of a misplaced fridge, the animatronic tearing off his shirt with its claws. "Man, I’d really rather have a real girl to be the one doing that."

For a second, you are relieved that didn't happen to you.

You too run in, rushing side by side with Fumikage over the broken glass and trying not to trip over strewn chandeliers and cables, and ultimately falling behind the others by a few yards. Few, but that’s more than enough for the accursed animatronics to reach both of you.

From out of a doorway to a trashed cartoony bathroom jumps a kappa with a towel around its waist. Clearly intended to be charming after its jumps scare, but you’re instead unsettled by the eerie otherworldliness of the quirk pulling its strings as several hundred pounds of rubber-coated metal and malice tears itself free from its rails and crashes into you.You let out a string of expletives as your left arm takes the brunt of the impact. You are sent flying, crashing against a mercifully soft curtain and then to the ground.

"<-AND YOUR MA' TOO!>" You finish as you roll over splinters and try to avoid the broken glass in your path as you jump back to your feet. You hold your left arm but do not really feel much of anything but a thrumming warmth below your elbow. It may even be broken… But closing your fist shows you that your fingers work well enough, so that can wait.

>"Release me, faux fiend!" You hear Fumikage yell as a large rubber spider tries to drag him by his shoe. The bird headed boy's kicks have little effect on it until he finally manages to pull his shoe free, along with the thing's pedipalps still holding on to it.
>>
He quickly rises back to his feet, but you can clearly see from his awkward stance, even in the pervasive dark that he tries to put as little weight on that foot as he can.

>"The horrors that lurk in the dark are not to be taken lightly, it seems." Your birdheaded friend muses. "Dark Shadow could deal with all these pests… But controlling him would be difficult... If possible at all… What do you think, vice-president?"

It seems that a fight in the dark might be inevitable… And now you are split from Iida and Denki…

He's not wrong at all though, you have no doubts Dark Shadow could tear down every single threat in the area by itself … But you aren't quite comfortable with that either.

>What do you do?

Like the moon, an enigma,
Lost and alone in the night
Damned by some heavenly stigma,
But blazing with light!
It's the feeling of being alive!
Filled with evil, but truly alive!
It's the truth that cannot be denied!~

Bet you the little girl got scared by the haunted house and that triggered her Quirk to manifest for the first time, which is now what's causing all the commotion.

You take in the mess you are in while running towards your injured friend, dodging broken furniture and torn rebar. With little room to escape to and even less time to think, you do as you often do and start piecing together a plan as you run.

"It's high time Ah pay ya back for not choosin' ya for the warhorse!" You tell him as soon as you reach him, turning on your heels and taking a knee, mindful of your arm. "Hop on sugah, we gotta move!"

>"Is this it, then? Are we scurrying, crawling through the dark away from the horrors that seek to end us?" Fumikage recites. Despite waxing poetic, he still climbs on to your back.

"Take mah phone and open the flashlight, camera, whatever you find and keep it ready to control Dark Shadow if he gets rowdy, but get him out NOW!" You tell him as you hand him said device over your shoulder, hoping he won't snoop through it. "Thing's made for herowork, so it should have more than enough juice for all that!"

>"Dark Shadow!" Your classmate beckons as you start to run, his quirk gladly answering his summons while a familiar inky feeling briefly washes over you, briefly, but stronger than ever before.

You risk a peek over your shoulder as you try to evade all the clutter all over the floor, hoping to catch a glimpse of the action behind you, but it proves nearly useless...

>"SHAAAAH!" Dark Shadow screeches as it emerges, uncaged at last, the darkness congealing on his form, enlarging his frame as it rushes towards the kappa. The quirk stabs his claws into the animatronic's shoulders and rends it apart, ripping the metal frame with enough force that it is shaped into a grizzly Y shape before tearing its arms off. "MORE! GIVE ME MORE!"

...You can now feel his presence, hear the mayhem and see the sparks fly without turning your neck at all, how much he seems to enjoy the mauling of the moving props as he sweeps the room. His dark body is barely slowed by the raking and swinging of the animatronics attacks, if affected at all.

>"Stop that, Dark Shadow!" Fumikage yells from your back, to no apparent effect.

Now looking like a massive jet-black demon, Dark Shadow hunts everything that moves, leaving no puppet stuffed, no animatronic whole as you run, tearing down every machine in the way you think your friends went...

>"WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT..." Dark Shadow then says, blocking your way with a massive claw as he comes to float in front of you, the other grabbing you by the torso. "ALONE IN THE DARK… OH HOW MUCH FUN WE'LL HAVE…"

"...Fumikage?" You squeak as Dark Shadow slowly shakes you, throwing your passenger off.

>"On it." You hear him say before a bright light washes over the room, almost blinding you and hitting Dark Shadow's entire body, causing the quirk to quickly shrink, practically deflating as it shrieks, letting you down on the floor.
>>
>"...playing hide and seek please don't hurt me." The shadow continues, slithering under a broken table. "Why do I even help you, you are so mean to me…"

>"Endure it." Fumikage growls at his quirk, aiming the phone at the roof and washing the room in a cold white light.

>"But it's so bright…" The lanky shadow whines as it comes to float next to Fumikage.

>"Yuka, please! Help us find you!" You hear Iida say in the newfound silence of the Hounted Hause.

Picking up your friend once more, you make your way to their room, Dark Shadow whimpering as it floats besides you, denouncing your evils.

While the room looks as trashed as the rest of the attraction, you can discern enough props to assume it must have had something to do with ancient horror movies.

"No luck yet?" You ask the boys despite knowing the answer.

>"No. We have searched all other rooms." Iida answers, briefly looking at Fumikage and shaking his head, then he sighs, letting his shoulders fall, pointing under at a pile of rubble. "She's either here or…"

>"I'm starting to think she might not be here at all, you know? Maybe she ran out and just got lost in the crowd again!" Denki offers, trying to cheer him up.

>"Uhm…" Dark Shadow mutters, politely raising a claw.

>"Speak your mind and no more." Fumikage orders his quirk, a bit too mean for your taste.

>"She's here." He says, getting the attention of everyone in the room.

"Ya sure of that, sugar?" You ask the small stigyan bird.

>"Oh. Now you are sweet, when is convenient to you." He answers, crossing his arms and pouting. "Turn down the light."

>"She wasn't lying." Fumikage tells it, slowly lowering the phone. "This thing can certainly be more incandescent."

"Lower it, just… keep it ready." You tell your passenger, looking at the quirk with over suspicion. "You gotta play nice now, ya hear?"

As he does, the room goes from overly bright into penumbra, allowing Dark Shadow to start growing again, quickly returning to an almost human size.

>"I feel it now. Hiding in the dark." Dark Shadow says, closing his yellow eyes and bobbing in place for a second before slowly floating towards a corner. "No. Not in the dark, within the dark. ...Here."

>"Hey, look!" Denki shouts, running towards the corner, picking something up from the floor at the base of a concrete well. "Yuka's headband!"

Dusty and a bit twisted, but certainly the same pair of giraffe ears and horns she was sporting before.

>"She's in the well." Dark Shadow says, floating besides it. "Terrified, crying to be left alone, wishing for rescue."

"That's… mighty specific." You mutter, walking towards the well along with everyone else, letting Fumikage down and peering inside. "This hole's empty!"

Despite your phone lighting up the room enough to see rather well, within the well you see nothing but darkness.
>>
>"Within the dark..." Fumikage remarks, thinking. "It's… Familiar. A lone child… If there's no one else here, this must be her quirk."

>"Yuka's, you mean?" Iida asks, clearly entertaining the idea.

"...Lil' girl." You point out, then wave your arms around at the destruction all around you. "Did all this?"

>"Think about it. A quirk of darkness manifesting when she's scared, lashing out at what is scaring her, but terrifying her as well…" Fumikage posits, tapping the underside of his beak. "If we assume it controls the darkness around her, it wouldn't be a great leap to think she could meld with that same darkness."

You just nod at that, letting the dark boy with his personal inner shadow as a quirk to talk about darkness quirks.

>"That would explain everything." Iida comments with a nod before leaning over the well. "Hey, Yuka! You'll be just fine! Come on out now!"

After a few seconds of silence, he speaks again.

>"Why won't she emerge?" Iida asks.

"If he's right, she's scared, very scared." You tell him, trying to look into the well, seeing nothing but oily darkness yet again. "Ya don't calm down a young'un by yellin'."

>"I remember when my quirk manifested…" Denki recalls, scratching the back of his neck. "I fried the T.V. and freaked out… so I released more power until I shocked myself silly. Turning off my brain for a day didn't make it less scary..."

>"Did it ever turn back on?" Dark Shadow asks with a snicker, the only one in the room not worried about the frightened little girl.

>What do you do?

This is bird bro’s time to shine! He’s got the relevant quirk experience, he’s just recently got some development with the little girl apologizing for being scared of him at first, it’s fucking perfect. I try not to do this, but man any one not voting fumikage is crazy and wrong

Couldn't we combine these two? Both of us go down to talk to her? Makes it a bit easier if Fumikage's the same size and not yelling down a hole and we can help with hugs and girl-to-girl support.

Not quite! Dark Shadow grows stronger in the dark, be it night time or a cave!
And the stronger he is, the less he cares about young Tokoyami's wishes!
