Last time, on Dragon Ball Tuffle Quest Kai! Izumi prepares for her trip to planet Z’S, with both her father and Monty ending up deciding to come with, with her helping Monty train and prepare and also get some training in with Peppa. Meanwhile, Gohan’s last bits of training for the Tournament are over, and the Afterlife Tournament begins! He faces off against many fighters with unique abilities, and after an intense battle with Tapion, he’s ready for the semi-finals alongside Yazai and Minotia, and the victor of the match between Olibu and Pikkon! Will Gohan have what it takes to become champion? What awaits Izzy and Peppa on Z’S? Good luck, Gohan! Good luck, Izzy! Good luck, Peppa!

Cracks of thunder echo from the ring as Pikkon and Olibu clash, the intensity of the battle drawing the awe of many spectators. Olibu even starts to gain ground against his opponent, using careful maneuvering to keep his opponent guessing on what he’ll do next. Pikkon for his part remains resolute, but is clearly surprised by the display of the taller fighter. At times he even has to coat his body in flames in order to counter some of Olibu’s more devastating attacks. Finally seeing an opportunity, Olibu backs Pikkon to the edge of the ring and readies the technique you helped him recover.

“BRONTES BREAKER!” he roars, flinging the lightning bolt at his foe in an attempt to end the match… but the electricity only hits the tall hat that was on Pikkon’s head. It hits the ground with a loud crash, leaving a crater on the floor.

“That’s a new one.” Pikkon comments from a short distance away. “I’ll have to remember it for next time.” His hands back, he thrusts them forward and unleashes a volley of Ki blasts at Olibu, the spheres actually igniting as they fly towards him and turning into genuine fireballs. Olibu dodges out of their way and rushes at Pikkon, who in turn flies at him at full speed. The pair clash and an explosion of light fills the arena…

And one fighter ends up flung to the wall outside the ring.

Olibu.

“And there you have it, folks! Olibu is out of the ring! Pikkon advances to the semi-finals!”

The pair meet outside the ring, shaking hands and congratulating each other on a good match. Yazai rubs his chin. “So that makes it just us four. Two from North Quadrant, one West, one South.”

>A. Kinda hope I get a chance to fight you still, Yazai

Hi, and thanks, anons!

>>4312908
“Heh, to be honest, kinda hoping I’d get the chance to fight you, Yazai, thoooough… I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to facing Pikkon too. Ahhh but I want to see how Minotia’s improve too… hrmn. Think we’ll be able to face off in the finals?”

He grins with anticipation. “Now that’d be great! Hah, I’ve got a few things I’ve wanted to try, and you’d be the perfect opponent to test them out against in a real match.”

Finally, the semi-finals are called… though before they start, Grand Kai has a quick chat with with the announcer. The mushroom man hops back down, then announces, “Well well folks, looks like our semifinals resulted in quite the setup! So in the interest of fairness and keeping these matches interesting, Grand Kai will allow fighters from the same quadrants to face one another if the bingo machine calls for it!”

You and Yazai look at one another and simultaneously mutter “That’s… convenient.” under your breaths… while King Kai starts to grumble aloud at this. “Oh come on! My fighters got through the rest of this tournament under the previous rules, we’re changing it NOW?”

“Them’s the breaks, North Kai.” South Kai comments to him.

“What, you don’t think they’ll be able to make it to the finals?” West Kai asks smugly. “Or are you just afraid to lose?”

“I mean… we’d still end up fighting in the finals if we both won.” Yazai informs him. King Kai shoots him a glare, but sighs and relents.

And so the bingo machine starts up, with King Kai biting down on a bit of cloth in anticipation, and once the next pair are out… “Next match! Gohan of the North Quadrant! Against…”

“Come on, come on…” King Kai mutters. “Not-”

“Yazai of the North Quadrant!”

King Kai slouches. “Dang it…”

The crowds start to cheer as the two of you head into the ring, Minotia rooting for you. Yazai cracks his knuckles, tail swaying behind him. “Looks like we both got our wish, Gohan. You ready to show these people what we can really do?”

You give a nod. “Definitely.”

“Fighters ready? BEGIN!”

He takes his stance. “All right! Here it goes!”

You and Yazai start the match off with a bit of a warm up, but enough of a clash to get the audience pumped. You match his strength initially, but are able to use your smaller size to your advantage, keeping a couple steps ahead of him countering his attacks and landing a few solid hits of your own. Palm strike, left hook, hammer blow, you keep your legs firm on the ground as you focus on matching his strength but outpacing his attacks.

Eventually Yazai has to back away, aura surging up around him. “All right Gohan, time to take this up a notch!” He gets in more of a boxer’s stance, and you can sense his aura fluctuate a bit. Okay, keep that in mind, aural punches. Keep distance and ready yourself.

You form a Spirit Ball and fill it with Light Magic, dribbling it on the arena floor for a short moment and then rushing around Yazai, having the Spirit Ball fling around him and try to catch him off-guard. Key word: try. Not only does he avoid the attack, he even manages to redirect it back against you, leading to the two of you passing it back and forth, the both of you trying to avoid contact with it as you’d primed it to operate as a flashbang when it hits. You think you see an opening and direct it up above Yazai, prepping the next stage of your attack, forming some smaller wisps of energy filled with Light Magic each, and fling them towards him.

Only then Yazai has his aura catch the attack and fling it back at you, with him following up with the attack by rushing at you. The Spirit Ball hits you and you’re blinded for a moment, then comes the barrage of blows both from Yazai’s aura and his own fists, finishing it up with a strong uppercut that sends you into the sky. As he does that though, you use the wisps to blind him when he tries to chase after you, allowing you to axe kick him back to the ring and follow after.

The both of you back up and ready yourselves again, Yazai grinning with pride. “Hah! That’s what I’m talking about! All right, let’s kick it up a notch! HRAH!” His hair goes gold as he turns into a Super Saiyan, one more taking a boxer’s stance. “You ready, Gohan?”

You raise your Ki further, tapping into some of your full power, but holding off using all of it, instead yelling out, together, “KAIO-KEN! RAIO-KEN!” Okay, you’ve got a plan. “I’m more than ready, Yazai! Let’s go!”

He dashes towards you, and while your speed can almost keep up, you quickly realize that Yazai’s really going all out with this, as not only does he catch up to you, he manages to grab you by the tail and fling you to the side of the ring. You stop yourself before going over the edge, but damn that was close. As he closes in, you head up and bring up your defenses, trying to use the Izumi combo to counter his moves, but he just keeps being one step ahead of you. Each attempt to counter is feinted, a punch leading to a kick, a chop leading to an elbow strike, and even a quick headbutt knocking you into one of the planetoids flying around the area.

You get back up on your feet, moving out of the way of Yazai’s next blow, an attack that cracks the planetoid in half with a devastatingly powerful aura-enhanced punch. You keep moving away, trying to leave afterimages to distract him, but Yazai actually redirects them back at you, confusing you as you try to avoid his attacks and allowing him to land a few more blows on you. You get some distance again, stopping yourself and catching your breath as Yazai lands on some of the rubble of the broken planetoid. “Come on Gohan, where’s that confidence from before? You’ve got more in you than this!” he yells up at you… and then you see his yellow aura start to change slightly. Red mixes with it briefly. “You better get ready, because this next attack WILL be enough to win this if you hold back! SUPER… KAIO-KEN!

You let your Ki rise up, your white aura erupting around you. “All right Yazai! Here, let me show you my FULL power!” You push past the limits of even Super Saiyan 3 as you bring out everything. He charges up at you, but you block his punch with the flat of your sword in a quick draw. Yazai ends up flung away from you as you give a fierce slash not from your blade but your scabbard, then raise your sword up towards the sky… well, relative to the ring, at least. “THUNDER! BREAK! SLAAAAAASH!” Lightning erupts around your blade and your scabbard as you pair the both of them and launch towards Yazai like a meteor.

His gold and red aura still blazing around him, Yazai uses it to try and stop your blade as you slash down, and the clash of power lights up the area and sends out a mighty gust through the stands. You end up forced back from the eruption of power, and it takes a bit for the bright lights to fade… but when they do, you see Yazai still in the ring. Damaged from trying to stop that attack, but still in the ring, still ready to fight.

Out of the corner of your eye, you see Minotia looking on intently, while Pikkon shows genuine interest in the fight, especially with the amount of power you’re displaying. The Saiyan man’s Kaio-ken fades as he pants, taking up his stance one more time. “I’m… I’m not… done yet… haa… haa…” You sense his energy… actually start to rise a bit. “I’ve still… still got some fight left in me!” His body twitches as you spot sparks go through his aura very briefly.

You grin wildly, declaring, “Now this is a challenge! …Heh, and just a little nostalgic. Come on Yazai! Show me your true Saiyan pride! The pride of the Saiyan who wanted to be a God of Justice!” Sparks gather around your own aura as you back up a bit. “This is it! Make or break it!” You charge up a large ball of Ki in your palm and mix in Fire Magic with it, then launch it towards Yazai.

He holds his hands forward and blocks the attack, his power spiking up higher. The heat of the attack starts to warp the tiles beneath him, but he puts everything he can into stopping the attack. Hearing you remind him of his last stand… starts to trigger something. Yazai lets out a fearsome yell as his strength spikes up higher. “HHHRRRAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!” The Saiyan flings his arms up and tosses the blazing sphere into the sky, firing up at it and detonating it… as he stands before you, hair spiked higher and only one bang hanging from his head. Finally unlocking the power of Super Saiyan 2.

“BURNING CRUSHER!” you yell as you hit him in the chest, flames jetting from your back as you crash into him, slamming him into the wall outside the ring. Yazai falls to the ground, panting, as you back away slowly in the air.

“What a dramatic finish! Ladies and gentlemen, Son Gohan has won the match and will advance to the final round!!!”

Cheers erupt through the stadium. Yazai… starts to laugh. “The future really is in good hands.”

You hold your hand out to help him up. Yazai chuckles softly, taking your hand and standing, the two of you shaking. “Congratulations on reaching the next step of Super Saiyan, Yazai. You’ve managed to unlock Super Saiyan 2.”

“Heh, thanks for the help, kid.”

“And hey, something to keep in mind: the denizens of Hell are watching this too. Betcha King Vegeta saw that match.” you tell him. Yazai’s face lights up, and a proud, and almost smug, grin appears on his face. Actually… that gives you a thought. As you and Yazai head back to King Kai, you ask him, “Say, mind letting me check up on my grandparents? Promise it’ll be quick.”

He seems just a bit less chipper than before, but gives a nod. “Yeah, yeah, sure. We’re betting on you, Gohan, so make sure you’re ready for the finals.”

“Will do!” And so, King Kai gets you in contact with Bardock and Gine… “Hey, grandpa, grandma, how you two doing? Still watching the Tournament?”

‘Gohan? Gohan, that is you! Yes, we are.’ Gine answers happily. ‘You’ve been doing so well.’

‘Well is underselling it, you’ve been kicking ass up there, kid!’ Bardock cheers. ‘Proud of you to make it to the finals, Gohan.’

“Heh, thanks. How’s it down there? Everything still pretty… er, well, ‘normal’ down in Hell?” you question.

‘A lot of other spirits have been watching the fights. Gives them something to do, a bit of a change of pace from the usual.’ Bardock responds. ‘Except for a few troublemakers. Had a vision about Baby trying something, made sure that the ogres keep an eye on him. Heh, he’s DEFINITELY not watching your fights, but what they’re having him do is probably just as torturous.’

Oh that sounds amusing. “What exactly are they having him do?”

‘Some kind of… weird exercise-dance routine. What’d they call it? Jazzer…something. It’s hilarious, and he hates it. Still getting a weird feeling about something, but we’re pretty much ready for any surprises. Good luck with the rest of the tournament, kid.’

“And so, this brings us to the last pair of the semi-finals! Minotia of the South Quadrant! Versus… Pikkon, of the West Quadrant!”

As you turn your attention back to the ring, watching the two enter it, you quickly give Pantea and Videl a quick chat. ‘Say, how are you two doing? See anything that caught your interests during that last fight?’

‘Been watching Yazai’s aura manipulation carefully. It’s reminding me of how we use the Kaio-Ten, but a bit more directed and refined.’ Videl comments. ‘It’s really quite fascinating.’

‘Oh? Is that aaaaall you’ve been watching? Come on, you’re definitely observing more than that.’ Pantea teases Videl.

‘...Throwing her in the ring.’

You chuckle aloud. ‘Come on, Pantea, be nice. What about you?’

‘You’ve definitely given me some ideas, Gohan. Using that attack as a distraction with a great finisher. I’ll admit I’m also curious about how Tapion’s heavy sword training has improved him. Wonder what materials it was made of…’

‘Probably Katchin. Supreme Kai could show you it after the Tournament.’ you inform her, watching Minotia bow to Pikkon. To his credit, the boy isn’t showing any fear or hesitation. He isn’t even really nervous, in spite of how much he’s seen Pikkon do so far. The boy’s eyes are determined.

“May the best fighter win.” Pikkon acknowledges.

I have an idea for the Tag Tourney:

Having a Tourney is just asking for trouble, so why not send trouble an invitation?

>Invite the whole Demon Realm to attend, with Beel'z and Misa's wedding as the main event.

>The Prize for winning the Tournament is that the Winners declare who the Ruler of Makai is.

>Since the Crown Prince is marrying an Earthling, this means that an Earthling is also eligible.

>In the Spirit of Matrimony, a Tag Tourney with teams of 2.

Do y'all think we could convince Beel and Pilaf to go through with it, or is it a bad idea? I kinda want to lump our problems all together in a festival.
>>
>>4314159
Ooh, more rules:

>If the Winning Pair each have different rulers in mind, they face off in a 1v1 match.

>Since an Earthling has the opportunity to become ruler of the Demon Realm, the Earth is up for grabs as well to the New Ruler.
>>
>>4314164
This is how you wind up with saiyans running the abyss.
>>
>>4314268
Pfffffft.
>>
>>4314159
I'm down for a Demon Realm tournament but I don't think the winner should become the ruler. The Champion of the Makai Realm seems like a good prize in itself.

Plus it kinda feels like we're ripping off Yu Yu Hakusho.
>>
>>4314445
We've been doing that since Day One, hahaha!
>>
>>4314445
The Winning Team doesn't become the Rulers, they pick the Ruler. The Worst form of a Democratic Election, a Brute Force Power Struggle. Should be pleasing to a bunch of demons, and preferable to a civil war over their succession crisis.

“KAIO-KEN!” Minotia roars out, his red aura surrounding him as he points his blade towards Pikkon. “I know you’ve been using weighted training clothes, Mr. Pikkon, more than just your hat. So even if I don’t win this, I have a goal I’m going to try to reach before this match is done.” He grips the sword with both hands. “I wanna see what you’re capable of at full power.”

Pikkon seems amused by the bravado on display, and takes his stance. “Very well. Let’s see if you can reach that point.”

The boy launches himself at Pikkon, sword held defensively. When the green alien attempts to deflect him away, his hand hits the flat of the blade, allowing Minotia a chance to fire off a quick, point blank Ki blast. Pikkon is able to deflect it, but he was definitely surprised by it. Backing away, Minotia leaves a few afterimages that Pikkon quickly dispatches with a barrage of Ki blasts… that Minotia’s timed to his Hero’s Barrier, reflecting each one back at Pikkon.

Even with this though, Pikkon is quickly able to put the boy back on the defensive, leading with several fierce blows that Minotia is only barely able to block with his sword, and even then, a fierce uppercut still sends him flying into the air. “KAIO-KEN TIMES FIVE!” Minotia yells out, again bringing up his barrier as Pikkon chases after him, managing to stop another attack and force his opponent back. Minotia keeps up the Kaio-ken and tries to get some distance, but that’s when… you notice energy building up around his right forearm. And not just normal Ki, but Magic.

“You can’t run!” Pikkon declares, thrusting his hand forward and creating a vortex with Wing Magic that surrounds Minotia and pulls him back, the boy trying and failing to bring up his barrier again. Caught in the vortex, he’s then flung down towards the arena again, Pikkon chasing after the boy with his body engulfed in flames as he attempts to deliver a fierce kick to Minotia. The boy’s able to bring up his barrier again, but the sheer force of the attack knocks him to the floor.

Pikkon lands a short distance away and stands ready, Minotia bringing himself up again, panting softly. His red aura erupts once more, but you’re not sure how long he can keep it up.

“Curious.” Olibu comments. “I suspected Pikkon was training with something new, and that may have been a taste of it.”

>A. Minotia, don’t overuse the Kaio-ken, your body’s going to give out on you if you keep this up!
>B. Ask Tapion if there’s anything else Supreme Kai showed them that might help Minotia in this fight

“Olibu, is it something he’s been able to do on his own before, or is it something he’s learned from West Kai?” you question.

“West Kai has taught Pikkon many unique skills. That looks like one I’ve seen him use before, but more refined.” he responds. “A shame I didn’t get him to use it against me.”

That’s definitely not good. “Come on Minotia, you can do this!” you cheer, then look over to Tapion. “Hey, is there anything Supreme Kai showed you guys that might be able to help Minotia with this?”

“Possibly. But it’s not something a foe like Pikkon will allow him to preform more than once. He’ll need to use it carefully.” he answers, then grinning at you. “Especially since you were able to overcome it yourself.”

Ahhh, of course. Your eyes fixed on the fight, you see Minotia hold his sword defensively against Pikkon, who again takes the lead in the battle, using his superior strength and skill to completely outclass the boy. “TIMES TWENTY!” Minotia roars out and again uses his Barrier to force Pikkon back, though Pikkon’s ready for it.

He delivers a low spin-kick while backing away, which forms a swirling tornado… that ignites and forms a blazing one. The winds that form it are enough to be felt all around the stadium, several of the audience members having to hold on to their seats in order to not be pulled away, and the heat enough to start to warp and even melt the tiles on the arena floor. And to make it all the worse, Pikkon then fires several Ki blasts towards Minotia, flying around with the winds and using them to his advantage.

https://youtu.be/Es9wkP7AvjE

Trying to find a way out of this, Minotia suddenly comes up with a plan. He materializes a chain of considerable length and similar material to his sword and ties it around the blade’s grip, then lets his barrier down for just a moment to release it, holding the other end of the chain tight. It ends up sucked into the vortex, pulling Minotia along with it… though with the boy also flying upward, trying to get to the top of the whirling flames. Using the Kaio-ken once more, he fires a Brave Cannon down into it, which travels all the way to the ring and detonates with enough force that it breaks apart the vortex. Pikkon is impressed… and then notices something coming at him. Minotia’s sword.

“HOLD THIS!” the boy yells. Pikkon quickly grabs it but the speed at which it’s traveling knocks him downward with it. He then lets go of the chain and holds both his hands out the moment Pikkon looks like he’s about to recover… holding him in the air via telekinesis.

“Wh-what?!” Pikkon exclaims, trying to move.

“H-ha… haha… g-guess you… rely too much on… training weights…” Minotia pants. “Now just gotta… le-let… gravity do the r-rest…”

Pikkon fights back, igniting his body and trying to keep airborne as he is slowly moved closer and closer to the edge of the ring. Is this it? Is Minotia really going to…? “Come on, brother! You’re almost there!” Tapion cheers. “Just a little bit more and you win this!”

“Minotia! You can do this! South Quadrant’s rooting for you!” South Kai declares.

“PIKKON WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! YOU CAN’T LOSE TO A KID! NOT LIKE THIS! COME ON!” West Kai screams at his student.

He ends up just over the edge… when Pikkon stops moving. You look up and see Minotia’s aura fade and his body go limp, falling to the ring. Pikkon’s able to take the sword off of him and head back into the ring. There, he sees the boy lying limp, exhausted. Pikkon removes his hat. Minotia’s head is able to move up and see what he’s doing. “You were a truly remarkable fighter, boy.” Pikkon removes the other weighted clothing from his body, belt and coat, and bundles them all up with the helmet. “I will admit, you almost had me there. But it looks like you couldn’t maintain that level of power, not yet, at least. So, I shall give you what you requested.” Pikkon’s energy rises as he tosses the weighted clothes outside the ring… which leave a crater when they land and shake the entire stadium. For a brief moment, Pikkon shows off his true strength, and… he’s definitely on another league from most other fighters in this Tournament, even you are going to have trouble against that.

But just as quickly as he displayed it, Pikkon powers back down and carefully picks up the boy, bringing him to the edge of the ring. He looks to Tapion and motions for him to come closer with a nod. Minotia’s brother quickly rushes close… as Pikkon sets the kid down outside the ring. Tapion picks him up and hurries him to get healed.

“And there you have it, folks! Minotia was no longer able to fight, so Pikkon is the winner and our other finalist! And what outstanding sportsmanship on display there! Let’s all give him a hand, folks!”

You see King Kai actually move in the direction of the two brothers as South Kai gives them an apologetic but thankful smile

This is my sword. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My sword is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

Without me, my sword is useless. Without my sword, I am useless. I must swing my sword true. I must slash faster than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must cut him before he cuts me. I will.

My sword is ningen, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a sibling. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its guard and its hilt. I will keep my sword clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will ...

Before Shin, I swear this creed. My sword and I are the defenders of my world. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.

So be it, until victory is ours and there is no enemy, but peace!

One day while talking with Earth's Personal Savior Tripitaka, Son Gohan confronts one of his deepest fears.

Gohan: *Sitting in a confessional booth* If my lips ever left my mouth, packed a bag and headed south, that'd be too bad, I'd be so sad.

Tripitaka: *Taking notes* I see, that'd be too bad, you'd be so sad?

G: That'd be too bad.

T: Alrighty.

Gohan: If my lips said "Adios, I don't like you, I think you're gross." That'd be too bad, I might get mad.

Trip: Hm, that'd be too bad, you might get mad?

G: That'd be too bad.

T: Fascinating. *Writes it down*

Gohan: If my lips moved to Duluth, left a mess and took my tooth... That'd be too bad, I'd call my Dad.

Trip: Oh dear, that'd be too bad, you'd call your dad?

G: That'd be too bad.

Trip: Hold it. Did you say your father? Fascinating! So what you're saying is if your lips left you?

Gohan: That'd be too bad, I'd be so sad, I might get mad, I'd call my Dad. That'd be too bad.

T: That'd be too bad?

G: That'd be too bad.

T: Why?

G: Because I love my lips. *Starts speaking in tongues, or lips, as it were*

Trip: Oh my! This is more serious than I thought. *She presents a Rorschach test.* Gohan, what do you see here?

G: Um, that looks like a lip.

T: *Flips to the next one* What about this?

G: It's a lip.

T: *Starts flipping through them all* And this?

Gohan: It's a lip, it's a lip, it's a lip, lip, lip! It's a lip, it's a lip, it's a lip, lip, lip! It's a lip, it's a lip, it's a lip, lip, lip! It's a liiiiiip, it's a lip, lip, lip.

Trip: *Goes back to taking notes* Gohan, tell me about your childhood.

Gohan: When I was just two years old, I left my lips out in the cold. And they turned blue, what could I do?

Trip: Oh dear. They turned blue, what could you do?

G: Oh, They turned blue.

T: I see.

Gohan: In the middle of Saiyan Saga, I had to kiss my Great Aunt Baba. She had a beard, and it felt weird.

Trip: My, my, she had a beard, and it felt weird?

G: She had a beard.

Trip: Oh!

Gohan: Ten days after I turned 8, got my lips stuck in a gate. My friends all laughed,

And I just stood there until the fire department came and broke the lock with a crowbar and I had to spend the next six weeks in lip rehab with this kid named Oscar who got stung by a bee right on the lip and we couldn't even talk to each other until the fifth week because both our lips were so swollen and when he did start speaking he just spoke Polish and I only knew like three words in Polish except now I know four because Oscar taught me the word for lip, "Usta."

Trip: *Waves away the smoke produced by her rapid note-taking* Your friends all laughed... "Usta." How do you spell that?

G: I don't know.

T: So what you're saying is that when you were young?

Gohan: They turned blue, what could I do? She had a beard, and it felt weird. My friends all laughed, "Usta!"

Trip: I'm confused.

Gohan: I love my lips! *Smiles.* ...Have I ever told you how I feel about my nose?

Tripitaka: Oh, look at the time!

You head over to Minotia with King Kai at first, checking to see if the boy’s okay. “Jeeze, I didn’t think he took that bad a beating.”

“It’s not Pikkon that did this, he overused the Kaio-ken.” King Kai states, looking over the boy’s body. “Mmmh. Okay, doesn’t look like he did any irreparable damage to himself, but that was too close! You’re lucky your body gave out on you before you could push it any harder.”

“Still proud of how hard you fought.” South Kai comments. “But as proud as I am right now, let’s not rush you into becoming a more permanent fighter for us just yet, kid.”

Tapion works to heal his brother’s injuries to the point where the boy’s more stable. You however walk over to where his sword landed. You look back to him and ask, “Minotia, mind of I hold on to this for the last match?”

He laughs weakly. “G-go ahead, Gohan.”

You pull the sword from the ground, unwrapping the chain around it, then shouldering the sword. You also notice Pikkon’s weights still on the ground. You grab them and try to pull them up… and realize that they’re actually QUITE a bit heavier than you were expecting. “Gh. Jeeze, Pikkon, how heavy are these things?”

“Approximately 500 tons in total.” he answers calmly.

You gulp. 500 tons? That’s… probably close to what the whole pillar the Z Sword was trapped in weighed. Dang. This could be tough. You still raise your strength to lift it, pulling it from the ground and smirking. “All right. Here, you can have it back.” You hop into the ring with it, then hand the weights back to Pikkon.

He looks at you curiously, but gives a nod and takes them back, putting them on him once more. Pikkon then cracks his knuckles, asking you, “So, are you wanting to get this started right away?”

“Dunno, you might need to rest up a bit from that fight.” you tell him cheekily.

Pikkon crosses his arms. “Is that so?”

“Heh, just saying I wanna fight you at your-” Your stomach growls rudely, interrupting your remark.

“Ahh, right, Yazai did tell me before you Saiyans fight best on a full stomach.” Pikkon tells you with a smirk. “You’re saying that because you want a quick meal. I get you.”

“H-hey! Shush! …But we both could do with refueling and rehydrating, I guess. Even with these bodies, doesn’t hurt to have a little bit of maintenance, y’ know.” you respond, rubbing the back of your neck.

“Very well. Grand Kai, will you allow this?” Pikkon asks.

“Hah! With all the entertainment you two have been putting up, we could all go for a quick meal break.” he declares… then conjures up a strange and kinda old-looking phone. “I could go for some pizza myself.”

So you end up getting a meal in, a small feast of rice, meats, veggies, and some fruity drinks you’ll have to memorize the name of when the Tournament’s over. Pikkon actually gets a small meal in, alongside a bit of a pep talk from West Kai. “Listen Pikkon, you’re my best student! You’ve grown beyond anyone else, and you’re not gonna let some little punk kid newcomer waltz in here and take away your rightful title of best fighter in the Afterlife, are you?”

“I have no intention of losing.” he states calmly.

King Kai though is a bit more relaxed. “Hey Gohan, even if you’ve only been my student for a short time, I just wanna say, you have definitely made me proud. You’ve really shown everyone that North Quadrant spirit!”

“The good sportsmanship you’ve shown so far is also quite commendable.” Olibu adds in.

“And you’ve really shown some Saiyan pride.” Yazai comments.

“And some sharp-minded Tuffle smarts.” Izumi adds.

“But most of all some good ol’ fashioned Earthling determination!” the elder Gohan finishes.

You finish up your meal and give all your fellow North Quadrant fighters a respectful bow. “I’ll not let you guys down.”

As you head into the ring though, you actually hear South Kai call out your name. “Hey Gohan!” Your hear quickly turns to look towards him. “Good luck out there! And thanks!” He pats Tapion and Minotia’s shoulders, smiling.

You nod back, and enter the ring with Pikkon. He stands ready and asks, “Now that you’ve gotten your fill, are you ready to get this started?”

“Absolutely. Grand Kai, it’s on you!” You point Minotia’s sword towards Pikkon.

“Very well! Final round! Son Gohan of the North Quadrant! Versus… Pikkon, of the West Quadrant!”

“This looks to be the match of the century, folks!” the announcer yells out. “Fighters ready? BEGIN!”

Ooh, I already have an idea for that sword. It's heavy, but we can use that to our advantage by using it poorly. Pikkon moves in, trying to land the first punch of the match, but you’re able to avoid it and try to counter with a left hook of your own. He catches your fist and tries to throw you, but you gracefully flip in the air and land. The two of you close in and test one another, Pikkon questioning, “So why is it you didn’t use that Super Saiyan ability Yazai’s so proud of, Gohan? I’ve sensed you do it before, but even against him, you didn’t use it.” Pikkon aims a chop at your chest that you block. “Are you saving it for some reason? “Oh? You think I’ll actually need it?” you ask cheekily, rubbing your nose.

Pikkon readies a more offense-oriented stance. “Too much confidence in your abilities will be your undoing, Gohan.”

“If you must know… well, it’s simple, really. I’m not bluffing there. I don’t need it.” Your white aura erupts around you as you show off what Elder Kai unlocked, a power beyond your normal limits. You motion for him to come at you as you take a defensive stance, holding Minotia’s sword in a guarding position.

“I see. You’re quite the interesting kid, Gohan.” Pikkon rushes you, but there’s a noticeable power gap between the two of you now, in your favor. You block each of his blows and almost make it look easy as he lets out more and more intense attacks. Pikkon switches things up a bit, slight glints of energy swirling around his arms and legs as you feel yourself drawn closer into his attacks. You’re still able to block his attacks, but it gets harder to find an opening.

Harder, but not impossible. Seeing your chance, you leave a detonating afterimage that Pikkon strikes, which blows up in his face. “JAN KEN! ROCK!” you deliver a punch to his gut. “SCISSORS!” you follow it up with a double poke that he avoids initially, but you fire off a quick jolt of Ki that hits his face. “PAPER!” A palm strike at his chest sends him away, with you quickly chasing after, swinging Minotia’s sword so the flat of it is about to hit him…

Then Pikkon stops it. “Clever.” Both his hands on the blade, you feel a sudden warmth through it… wait more than just a warmth, more like- OW! Hot! Hot hot hot! You juggle the sword, trying to cool it down, as Pikkon brings both his hands back and forms two genuine fireballs and aims them… at the sword. “But can you handle the heat?!”

You swerve the blade away from the fireballs just in time, only to see Pikkon send out two more lower to the ground, scorching the arena below you. Leaping up to avoid it, you think you’re in the clear, only for the flames below to start to swirl around beneath you. And then you look up, seeing that the ones above are doing the same. Gah! Tricky! Think fast! Come on, come on… oh! Right as the swirling flames are about to meet you, and with Pikkon having lowered his guard just a bit, let out an Explosive Wave that sends the fire all across the arena, Pikkon trying to avoid all of it but ending up a little singed himself.

“See what I mean, Pikkon?” You shoulder the sword. “I don’t need it.”

He uses some of the Wind Magic from before to put out the flames on him and around the arena, looking up at you. “So you say, but I still have a few things to show you.” He starts to wave his arms around in an odd pattern. It… almost reminds you of Fusion? What’s he doing?

You ready yourself to dodge away from the attack. Be careful, Gohan. Pikkon finally stops moving his limbs… and rushes you down, landing a solid combo on you while you were expecting a beam attack of some sort. Grh! Tricky! Okay, refocus and-

”THUNDER! FLASH! AAAAAATACK!” Pikkon brings both his fists together and unleashes a truly massive torrent of fire up towards you, catching you and blasting you up higher into the sky. You eventually crash into one of the planetoids, but as you hit it the attack starts to actually heat up the rocks around you, with them beginning to melt. You use everything you have to escape from the attack and get behind another one of the planetoids.

Getting a moment to catch your breath and make sure none of you is still on fire, you feel Pikkon approach. Gotta think carefully, what can you do next?

“Oh… h-heh, I get it… fire is… like thunder… loud.” you comment to yourself with a nervous laugh. Hmm… well if he’s so familiar with fire, you can turn up the heat a bit too, can’t ya? Yeah, yeah! Be experimental with this! You leap up above the planetoid and point down at Pikkon. “Not a bad technique! But bet you can’t hit me again with it!”

You immediately get knocked in the gut with Pikkon’s weighted clothing, which he bundled up like before to allow an opening for his attack. “As your friends said before: hold this.” Pikkon remarks smugly, with you sent tumbling off the planetoid, and him readying those stances again.

But this may play into your plan! You use this sudden acceleration to start building up speed, reaching another planetoid and holding on to the weighted clothing and Minotia’s sword as you run around it. Building up sufficient velocity, your body starts to spark. Now for the experimental bit! You try to apply Fire Magic to it, and with it ready… “SHIIIIINE! SPAAAAAARK!” You launch yourself off the planetoid, cracking it as you do. But… you notice that this actually feels slower than the normal Shinespark, and not nearly as neat to control. Still, you blast towards Pikkon, believing you’ve timed it to right before he fires his attack!

“THUNDER! FLASH! AAAAATACK!”

AGH FIRE! MORE FIRE THAN YOU WERE READY FOR! You crash into what feels like a wall of flame and hit some fragments of one of the destroyed planetoids, until you finally crash into a larger one, falling from it as you try to regain your senses. Agh, that technique is going to be a problem. You manage to reach the ring, slowing your descent enough that you land there with a loud crash thanks to the weight you’re carrying. You end up dazed enough that you think you see a couple jelly beans floating above the arena, but your attention quickly turns to Pikkon.

“That’s two for two, you want to make it three for three, Gohan? You’re tough, I’ll give you that, but I’ve got an edge with experience.” He cracks his knuckles. “Or… maybe you’d like to see a different technique of mine?” His body spins in midair… and starts spinning faster. Ah crap now what?

Whatever. See you tomorrow. I hope this fight with Pikkon continues its intensity with a flashy end either way.
>>
Gohan's unlocking is costing him in this fight. Using a bunch of techniques he performed and practiced in his old body till they were second nature, and now his new power brings along second second natures to learn. Might be best to just rely on the brute force that comes with this unlocked potential he wasn't ready for.
>>
>>4316610
>>4316615
Must you?
>>
>>4316620
It's best to go back to the basics when we have a new power to get used to. That means relearning all our techniques when we're fully powered to master them at a later date. Right now, using this much power along with techniques is just Frieza-tier. Either focus on using this power to brute force him back, or focus on using techniques at a power we're used to.
>>
>>4316625
yes, i also remember all those times in various dragonball series when a character reached a new level of power and had to relearn all of their techniques every time. who could forget the iconic moments when goku became a super saiyan and could no longer use the kamehameha correctly, or when gohan broke his limits into super saiyan 2 and cell waited patiently for him to relearn flight and proper kicking form
>>
>>4316637
Well yeah, it was the last thing Goku did in that fight. And Cell did watch Gohan practice his kicking.
>>
Even if we did think we could ice-skate uphill, let's do something constructive.

Gohan is using his full power right now to keep up with Pikkon, while trying to use his techniques on Pikkon. The ki that would be used in those techniques that Gohan could control is running through his body to make it tougher, stronger, and faster.

Gohan can do two things here: he can keep going at top gear at the cost of fancier ki control, or he can go down to a level he's comfortable at to use his techniques with a calmer body and clearer head.

Well, there is the third option of trying to use techniques at full blast, also known as "what hasn't worked."

I want to go the second route. Even if Pikkon would be better than us numbers wise, well, we know someone who never let that stop her from doing her best, and she became the Champion twice.
>>
>>4316902
I have just been informed by myself that she was Champion... triple.
>>
I have an idea for "Hold this." We absolutely flub it by missing Pikkon with the sword when we throw it at him, but we do hit an asteroid with it. An asteroid that is now weighed down by the sword. Heck, if we can get his clothes up there, that'd be good too. Then, we hold the much taller Pikkon in place under that heavy rock, and let gravity do its thing.

However, you do have his weighted clothes and Minotia’s sword. You might be able to stay on the ground… or even fling one of them up at Pikkon. Or you could try something a bit more risky, but something that’ll definitely do some damage. Gotta think quickly…

You’re only going to get one chance with this. Using your full strength, beyond your natural limits and to what Elder Kai brought out of you, you rush at Pikkon, leaving several afterimages trailing behind you, right as the attack starts to get going. The afterimages begin to detonate as the winds pick up, but that distracts Pikkon long enough for you to get up close. You throw your hands up and yell out, “LUMINAIRE!”

With a powerful explosion of Light, Pikkon’s attack is halted and Pikkon himself is flung far away from the stadium, crashing through several planetoids and a few of the asteroids that resulted from previous fights. In fact, he keeps going, going, going, so far you lose visual sight of him, but can still sense him. Finally, Pikkon seems to hit the… wall? Ceiling? The edge of the room you’re in. He launches off, flying back quickly. As he does, though… you there actually is a large jellybean floating around in the void. What the…?

Finally in visual range again, Pikkon pants, that attack taking quite a bit out of him, yet… he seems even more excited than before. “Now that’s what I’m talking about! Gohan! Show me your best!”

“My best is gonna win this, Pikkon.” you tell him confidently. “So let’s-!”

‘Gohan! Look back in the stadium!’ Supreme Kai tells you. Your head turns downward and you see… something protruding from the ring. Looks a bit like one of those jellybeans floating nearby, but like… formed out of the ring. A couple more protrude from the stadium! What the…? ‘Something’s happening to the dimensional barriers!’

“Sorry Pikkon, we’ll need to finish this later. Something’s happening down there. I’d hate to have our fight spoiled by an outside force.” you tell him, starting to head down. The smile on his face fades into a frown, but he nods in acknowledgement. As you head down, you telepathically get in contact Pantea and Videl. ‘Are you guys okay? Anyone hurt down there? What’s going on?’

‘We don’t know, one moment you two were fighting and the next these things appeared in the stands launching people into the air!’ Pantea answers. ‘I, I guess nobody’s hurt, yet?’

‘Okay, try and get everyone clear if you can, I’ll try to see what’s going on.’ You and Pikkon land together and you rush over to King Kai. “Anyone know what’s going on? King Kai, you and the other Kais might need to evacuate! And we should probably get everyone mobilized.”

Supreme Kai and Grand kai land near you, with Supreme Kai telling you, “Gohan, apparently something has caused the check-in station to become sealed away. I’ve detected a strange and powerful energy in the vicinity. It’s causing the barriers of reality to warp and twist.”

“If it stays like this, Heaven and Hell will be open to the land of the living, and the dead will walk!” Grand Kai proclaims. “Man, what a way to throw off my groove.”

“It has apparently not reached our world just yet, at least, that is what the Elder has told me.” Kibito comments as Tapion and Minotia approach.

“Supreme Kai, Sir, is there anything you need us to do?” Tapion asks.

“Hmm… we may need you to head back and make sure nothing disturbs Majin Buu’s ball. Can I count on the two of you to make sure it’s safe?” Supreme Kai requests.

“We need to send some folks to the check-in station, get the whole story from King Yemma.” Grand Kai adds.

“We can’t forget about Hell though! Who knows how many things have crossed over already?!” King Kai says in a panicked voice.

“If whatever is causing this is with King Yemma, that’s where I wanna go. Anyone wanna come with? How about you, Pikkon, what’ll you do?”

“Hmn. The sooner we take care of whatever is causing this, the sooner we can continue our match.” he states. You notice Grand Kai about to say something, but deciding against it at the last minute. “I’ll go with you, Gohan. King Kai, is that acceptable to you?”

West Kai coughs but then gives a nod. “Yes, well, definitely acceptable. Beat whatever monster’s causing this, and then come back and win this!”

“What about the denizens of Hell? We can’t let them run amok with the living.” Yazai brings up. “King Kai, if you’ll let me, I’d like to head down there and check on the people there.”

He gives a nod. “All right, we’ll try to organize the fighters up here while you head down there.”

“Before we go, can we get a quick heal?” you ask. Supreme Kai and Kibito both nod, Shin healing you while Kibito heals up Pikkon. Once healed, you head over to Pikkon and hand him the weighted clothing. “Here, think this is yours.” He nods and takes it, and you then run over to Minotia and hand him his sword. “Best of luck out there, guys.”

“Same to you. Take care, Gohan.”

With everything set, Supreme Kai stands by you and Pikkon, the two of you holding onto his shoulders. He checks out the area, then declares, “Kai Kai.” The three of you appear in front of… well, a field full of those evil jelly beans, with an extra large one in the middle of it all… with not only the Check-In station, but Snake Way and even the clouds normally above Hell all trapped inside.

“Hrmn.” Pikkon lets go of the Supreme Kai and holds his hand out, then fires a quick series of Ki blasts at it… which seem to harmlessly splash across. “A barrier of some sort.”

Shin then gets an uneasy look in his eyes. “There’s… a very strong, very evil presence around here. It’s…”

“It’s up above!” King Yemma’s voice calls out through the barrier. “The one who did this!”

The Supreme Kai’s eyes widen in fear for a moment, but then his face is filled with confusion. “A… demon of some kind, but… it almost looked like…”

You and Pikkon look up as well and see… a massive, round, yellow creature with horns on its head and an innocent expression on its face. What in the…?

“Janemba! Janemba! Janemba!” it joyfully exclaims.

And so the four of you teleport away, appearing on a space station and surprising a couple of the people there with your sudden appearance. One of them, a Galactic Patrol member who… kinda looks like Tarble’s wife, quickly regains his composure and welcomes you all. “Ah! Earthlings! You’re here! Ahem. Hello! Welcome to the Z’S Observational Platform. I am Galactic Patrolman… Irico!” He strikes a pose. “We will begin the trip down to the planet in a short while. Take some time to prepare.”

Are you now?

The two of you walk around a bit with Monty, Peppa politely introducing herself to Irico while you and Monty check up on some other staff. “So, what exactly is it you guys do here?” Monty questions.

“Watch for any would-be thieves, treasure hunters, smugglers, and monitor investigations into the planet itself.” another Galactic Patrol officer, a pink, sort of amphibian-like one, answers. “We also try to set up some safer areas for those investigating the planet.”

“Where exactly will we be heading to?” you question. “Is there a Map or something we can look at?”

He nods, turning your attention to a large screen, which lights up to show a crater-marked surface with a few scattered buildings and other structures. It zooms in on the structures, a central pyramid surrounded by buildings that are… curiously tall in spite of how high the gravity the world is, though all shaped in a vaguely pyramidal in shape, tapering slightly to the top. Scattered through the city though there are a number of toppled structures and several that look like crashed platforms of some kind. “This area is the main hub of the archaeological investigations into the planet. There are also ruins deeper down, we’ve been able to map about three distinct levels so far, but there are probably a good deal more. Drop site will be here…” The screen zooms in on the area in front of the main pyramid. “And it will be the place to regroup when the mission is over.”

“I recall there being some areas of lower, and also higher gravity.” Peppa adds in. “Where exactly are they?”

“Ahh, those.” Irico heads over. The screen zooms in on a strange octagon-shaped area with some curious symbols on it. “We’ve found areas of reduced gravity over in these sections. Investigations into them have shown them to be reactors of some kind.”

“Reactors?” you repeat, eyes fixed on the octagon shape.

“Indeed. They produced some kind of energy long ago, there are lingering readings last time they were investigated.”

“And the higher ones?” Peppa asks.

“Similar, though those areas have fractured reactors, broken apart.” he says.

You quickly decide to try and sense for things on the planet, any Ki signatures down there. You feel some life forms down there, though nothing especially strong… but you get something you weren’t initially expecting. Not Ki signatures… but Magic.

“How low is the gravity in these areas, exactly?” Monty questions.

“It varies from place to place, though some are only a bit stronger than that of your planet, Earthling.” the other patroller replies.

You smile at him. “Starting to pique your curiosity? Sounds like you’ve found something to look into too.”

“W-well… it might be a place for me to head to if I need.” he explains shyly. “…Do admit that hearing them described as ‘reactors’ isn’t exactly what I was expecting. Wondering what the symbols on them mean…”

There’s a gleam in your eyes. But, you hold back your excitement and think to ask first, “Are there any Magic users employed by the Galactic Patrol, sir?”

He rubs the back of his neck sheepishly. “Ehhh… well… not exactly? There are some who’ve made studies into it, but-”

“Have they given any look into this planet?” you ask next, moving closer to the screen. “I’m getting a feeling that you might have some better results consulting them as well.”

“I… can put a word in to my superiors.” Irico says, tilting his head.

“Hrmn. How about this architecture? Are there any other worlds that you know of that have it?” you question, motioning to the pyramid structures. “Are they fairly uniform across the planet, or are there other buildings that have different aesthetics?”

“From what research has been done, they do seem to have a consistent design aesthetic across the planet, though only about 10% of the world has been properly explored.” Irico has the other Patroller move through a few images that do indeed keep similar aesthetics. Larger, flatter buildings, many in pyramid shapes.

“How about any other points of interest?” you ask. “Anything we should focus on? Stuff like those reactors?”

“The lower levels are also have a few larger structures that have had similar, unusual energy readings. I can pinpoint a few.” Irico states. The screen zooms out and displays a see-through diagram of the area, pointing to a trio of areas. One under a reactor, one under a building closer to the edge of this cityscape, and a final one under the central pyramid.

“Thanks! ...One last question.” You look around the area. “Should we get some grub up here before we go? Or is there some food down there? Like, I’m not sure about trying some super dense nutrient sludge if that’s what’s on the menu down there.”

He nods his head towards a door. “We do have a cafeteria up here. I would definitely advise against trying to eat any of the local flora or fauna, though. Their body structures are not exactly what I’d call agreeable, even if you’re something like a Saiyan.”

“Got it. No eating any high-gravity snacks.” Peppa comments, then laughs. “Hey, Izzy, remember one of those Cell Sentai guys trying to eat popcorn a while back?”

You laugh. “Hah, yeah, and then it got crushed in the high gravity. And theeeen another one just… ate the whole thing.”

All of you head towards the cafeteria Irico pointed towards, dad and Monty going over how the suits operate with him. The food is… predictably bland, even compared to like, school cafeteria food. Peppa still makes sure to fill up, even if she’s less than pleased with it herself. She then asks, “Izzy, where do you wanna try for first? One of those areas in the lower levels, some of the reactors, or just wanna explore a bit?”

>A. Definitely one of the reactors! Super curious about them right now

“I definitely wanna check out one of those reactors! Especially since there’s apparently something noteworthy below one.” you tell her.

“Hmm… guess that’s where I’ll be heading to as well.” Peppa states. “I do wanna check out the places with different gravity levels, after all.”

“You two all set then?” dad asks, both him and Monty in a couple bulky suits. You and Peppa nod, and all of you are led to a saucer-like ship that slowly brings you down to the planet. You wait in a section of the ship that seems to have its own separate gravity controls, and once you land you feel things start to get dramatically heavier fairly quick.

“Henshin. Yuusha!” you declare and form your Mahou armor. Peppa’s hair spikes up and her aura glows around her in order to withstand the sudden increase, going Super Saiyan and trying to keep herself steady. Dad and Monty’s suits activate some kind of gravity reducer, dad paying special attention to his.

“Definitely gonna tell Maple and Bulma all about this when we’re done.” he comments.

“Hello, Earthlings! This is Galactic Patrolman Irico speaking. There are currently four hours worth of energy and supplies in those suits, however, this ship will return in approximately three in order to ensure you all have enough time to get back.” he announces over intercom.

“Heh, don’t worry too much about that. If things become dire, I can get us all outta here.” Peppa replies.

“While I don’t doubt your abilities, it’s more to make sure everything’s kept to previously set standards by the Galactic Patrol. I’d rather not have to bog you guys down with paperwork too, haha!” The way he says that makes it SOUND like a joke, but his laugh is kinda a nervous one.

“Understood. See you in a while, Irico!” dad tells him, getting close to the door. It opens up to reveal a red-tinted cityscape, a sudden rush of air pushing against all of you. What should be a barely noticeable breeze feels like a gale… and yet, you can breathe certainly the air here. You start to walk out slowly with everyone, getting used to the intense gravity. Peppa seems better adapted to it, but dad and Monty have to take things slow and steady.

Finally you get a good look of the area. The buildings are even more massive up close, yet with a certain squatness to them all. The central pyramid you landed in front of has an opening thrice the height of you, and the interior looks dark and… kinda gloomy. Dad taps the side of his suit’s helmet, Monty doing the same. “Sir, should we all stay together, or spread out?”

“Depends. Izzy, Peppa, you two going to stick with us, or would you prefer to head out on your own?”

>A. Let’s stick together, and set up a route we’ll follow in order to regroup back here

“Let’s split up for now. Keep in contact, and let us know if anything comes up.” You look to your cousin with a big, kinda goofy grin. “Ready to go, Peppa?”

“Yep! Let’s go!”

“Yes!” You raise your fist into the air. “Peppa and I are gonna have some…” You slowly lower it and pretend to read something, attempting to sound like 19 as you finish, “Girl time.”

Peppa lets out a “Tch.” sound. “That’s not what she sounds like.”

“Oh? And do youuuu have a better impression?” you question, walking forward with her.

Peppa’s expression becomes blank, her voice still and more robotic, almost emotionless and toneless. “That I do. I believe I can display a much better impression of her.”

You lean away. “That is… just a little eerie.”

“Eh, not as good as Cocoa at it.” your cousin says, mannerisms returning to her usual more bubbly self.

You look back at dad. “Let’s check in every like, 15 minutes or so, okay? Tell us if you find anything good!”

“You two stay safe out there!” Acer waves as he and Monty head towards the main pyramid’s entrance.

https://youtu.be/284SUueIHIE

And so the two of you start to fly up, finding it a FAR more difficult task here than on Earth. You’re really starting to feel the pressure as you move around. Able to keep up, but it’s taking some considerable effort. Sensing out the reactor you fly overhead and see the building. As you approach, you feel the pressure gradually get lighter, until there’s a sudden “jolt” of something you pass through, resulting in the gravity being considerably more manageable. Still probably around 200x that of Earth, but that’s still a fraction of what you were feeling before.

“You feel that too?” Peppa asks, moving quicker as you both approach the reactor from the air, the octagonal shape being about the size of a city block back on Earth. There are a couple entrances you can spot, a normal eight that should be open, but six of them have been closed off in rubble. One toward the north, another to the south-east. You can sense a stronger presence to the north, something definitely Magical in nature, but the south-east seems closer to a different power source, closer underground.

“Hey, I’ve got an idea. Peppa, head towards that northern entrance.” you tell your cousin, then focus your Ki, making a copy of yourself and having her go to the south-east one. The two of you keep sensing out the area as you regroup with Peppa, heading in with her. Up close, you see that the material the structure is made of is… different. Some kind of metal, for sure, but not one you’re familiar with. An alloy of some kind with a dark grey, almost black color underneath some of the red, dusty sands covering it. Inside, you see some areas that look more like petrified wood with strange symbols covering them.

https://youtu.be/t0OhKO2bu1s

Your clone notices what looks like a sort of… worker’s entrance? No idea what the language on the walls means, but there are some signs that look like they direct you towards a main area. Your copy heads in deeper, moving past several toppled structures. She notices something bizarre as she passes over one: a shiny, liquid substance seeping out from a toppled structure, moving like tar but definitely flowing as some kind of fluid.

Back with you and Peppa, you see this entrance is more of an administrative one. Peppa cheerfully moves along, even skipping ahead of you as she observes the the petrified wood structures, picking a piece up with telekinesis. “You sensing anything coming from this, Izzy?” Peppa asks, rotating it slowly so you both get a clearer look.

“Kinda. It’s… like something that was magically charged in the past, but has long since lost whatever enchantment was there.” you say, then shrug. “Or maybe it’s still got it and just dormant. Not a total expert on this just yet, but I can feel something lingering at the very least.”

“Neat.” She calmly walks in deeper with you. As your copy finds what appears to be a stairway leading down deeper, you and Peppa sense something alive inside, somehow. Upon spotting it, you see it’s… some kind of alien millipede thing, though seeming more reptilian or amphibian than like some kind of bug, not very wide but at least four meters long. Weird, blue, lizard-millipede. It’s startled by your sudden appearance, but doesn’t move very quickly, and slowly tries to observe what the two of you do.

Peppa, Izzy, what’ll you two do?

>Stage 1: Raise the left hand, palm outward to the person being addressed. Keep the thumb tucked to the side of the palm, pointing upward. Clench the index and pinky fingers as if making a fist and extend the middle and ring fingers vertically. The gesture should be made at the same time as speaking the "graaaaagnah" part of the verbal Universal Greeting.

>Stage 2: Extend the index, ring, and pinky fingers. Curl the middle finger and thumb towards the palm of the hand so that they touch at right-angles, with the side of the thumb's tip pressed against the nail of the middle finger. This should be done in time with the verbalization "wheep".

>Stage 3: Clench the index, middle, and ring fingers. Extend the thumb and pinky fingers so that the gesture resembles a horizontally-flipped 'L'. Shake the hand sideways twice, in time to the syllables of "ni ni"

>Stage 4: As the final "bong" is spoken, open your hand out so that all digits are extended and slightly splayed as if to make a hand-print in clay. Pause momentarily and then press the thus-opened hand against that of the person you are addressing, who themselves should have a likewise open palm.

You and Peppa look at one another. So. You’ve happened upon an alien life form on an unknown planet and aren’t entirely sure how to communicate with it. There’s but only one thing to do. You communicate with Acer quickly and make sure you’ve got this down, letting him know you’re about check up with him and Monty RIGHT after you get done with this.

The two of you clear your throats. Here goes. You and Peppa both begin a complicated series of hand movements as you let out, “Bah-weep-Graaaaagnah wheep ni ni bong.” You both then hold your hands out to the lizard-millipede.

It blinks at you both, giving a soft hiss, flicking its tongue in the air. As it does, you notice sparks escape from its mouth. The alien calmly and slowly investigates your hands, and, satisfied it’s clear you have no ill intention, crawls away along the ground.

“Have a good day, Mr. Lizard guy!” Peppa tells it, the two of you nodding at one another, and finally continuing along. You come across an area that looks like a sort of… observation deck of some sort? Or maybe a kind of control room? You head in first, seeing ancient, long broken displays and control panels, which come up to about your neck. There are openings where you suspect glass once was, looking over a building-sized structure in the shape of an octagon, though more of a proper house-ish size rather than the city block sized one you’re already in.

“So dad, checking in, how are you and Monty so far?” you ask both aloud and telepathically, your copy heading deeper still.

‘From the look of things this was some sort of capitol building. Monty and I have come across what were probably offices when they were still in use. A number of animals are in here, surprisingly. Few large things that looked a bit like some kind of horseshoe crab, but like, with frog features. We’re gonna be heading down into the lower levels, found a stairway.’

“Okay, be careful dad. Check up again in 15, okay?” You look over the structure again with Peppa.

“Hey, Izzy, is it just me, or is it giving off a soft glow? I can kinda sense something coming off of it.” she comments.

You look it over and confirm that it is indeed glowing a little. There’s Magical energy still coming off of it… and you feel your crystal pulse slightly in response. Well well well. Now we’re getting somewhere. You hop up on the control panels and try to move through the open window, Peppa following. As you do, though, you notice something your copy noticed earlier. A broken pillar of some kind beside this glowing octagon, with some kind of fluid leaking out of it. It’s… got a bit of a sheen to it, actually. “That’s weird. Wonder what’s in it? Almost looks like-”

“S-silver…” Peppa breathes out, her body tensing up, eyes narrowed and fixed on it.

While your copy goes back to investigate the metallic puddle, you place your hand on Peppa’s shoulder calmly. “Cous? You okay?”

“I’m…” She sighs loudly. “I’ll be okay.”

“Before we continue on, we’re talking about this.” you tell her. “What was that about?”

She looks down. “…I guess I’m still not over it yet.”

“Over what?”

“When we were still fighting against the Machine Mutants… we kept seeing things with this silver sheen to them. Liquid, silvery, puddles of nanomachines. I kept seeing them, over, and over, and over, taking control of things, mutating and twisting them, and… and Baby would taunt me through them. Remind me of how I failed to stop him. I… I flinched and froze up a while back when we found that shark and… Krillin’s clone.” she explains. “That just brought all the memories flooding back.”

As she talks with you, your copy finds the substance again, seeing how it’s the same liquid gold you saw earlier, seeping out and pooling on the ground. It feels warm, but not quite “molten” or anything. And there’s this electrical charge coming off it… and the faintest hint of Magic. Curious. Back with you, you talk with Peppa some more. “Do you need me to do anything to help?”

“I-I… I should be okay.” She takes another deep breath.

The two of you head out of the room, passing over the control panels. Peppa has to force herself not to look at the silver puddle, but you both pass by it and observe the octagon up close. You notice there’s what looks like a section of it that can come off, a “lid” of sorts. You keep checking over the puddles, and see that the gold one is the same as the leaking fluid your copy observed.

Hmm…

You and your copy both use the Clothes Beam to create something to dip into the fluid and gather up samples, then placing those in Capsule storage units. Luckily there seems to be no especially notable reaction, though it does feel quite heavy. Like… actual gold. Wait. Waaaait a second. You look it over closer. Is this…?

This is GOLD gold. Actual gold! Gold with some lingering Magical enchantment, but actual, genuine gold! In some warm fluid form. “Peppa, come closer for a second!” you request, with her carefully moving in. “Take a look at this.”

She uses her telekinesis to observe the gathered substance. “…Huh. Yeah, isn’t silver like the other stuff.”

“It’s GOLD! -Actual- gold!” you tell her. You then look over the toppled pillar. “…So these things use this fluid gold for some reason. Peppa, let’s try to set this pillar up again, maybe repair it a bit to see how it functioned.”

“Well, if you’re sure…” She hands you back the storage unit, which you put away quickly, then helps you rebuild the pillar with her telekinesis and your Magic. You find that it too is in an octagon shape, though an octagonal obelisk shape. It lets off a soft pulse of energy, then falls silent, though you can feel your crystal give off a pulse after the obelisk did. Hrmn. Curiouser and curiouser.

You cautiously try to send a pulse of magic through it, and observe the reaction. Energy courses through the pillar, though as you pay close attention, you notice that it does so in a pattern. A broken pattern, given the wear it’s been through, but a pattern nonetheless. Almost like a kind of… well, you’d almost say circuit. Organized in a way to channel Magic through it.

Very, very curious. “Think that’s enough for now, Peppa. Let’s check out the larger octagon now.” As the two of you fly over it, you observing the symbols on the structure, you notice something. “Mom and dad told me about a thing a while back, the Furnace of Eight Divisions, and Annin, the goddess who keeps guard of it.”

Peppa’s mind now away from the metallic liquids, she nods. “Mom and dad mentioned that to Gohan and I a couple times.”

“This seems very vaguely like it, in structure. Which… makes me wonder. What exactly was the purpose of this thing? It’s using Magic of some kind yet it’s designed like some kind of massive reactor.” Flying overhead, you sense a very faint… imbalance of sorts to it that wasn’t there. You look back at the pillar, and then see that one of the symbols on the reactor is glowing a little brighter than the rest.

You can also feel that there’s some more of this… you guess you can call it “circuitry” inside the octagon.

Okay, let’s go over what you’ve seen so far. It uses liquid gold “circuits” to channel some kind of magical energy, and operate as a sort of reactor. The symbols on it probably do mean something, though. Perhaps they’re certain types of Magic that are being harnessed? There’s not enough for you to get any more than a basic guess as to what it might be.

‘Hey, Izzy, Peppa, can you hear me?’ dad’s voice calls to you telepathically.

“Hey, sure dad! What’s up, already been 15 minutes?”

‘Yeah. Monty and I have entered in the first lower section, I’ve detected some residual Magical energies deeper down, where a point of interest is on the map. We’re headed towards it. Everything good with you two?’

“Yeah.” Peppa answers, herself now significantly calmed. “Izzy and I have been looking over this reactor of sorts, she’s found some kind of Magic used with it.”

“Keep us posted on if you find anything. Talk again in 15.” You place your hands on your hips, looking over the structure again. A Magical reactor, shaped like the Furnace Annin guards. A furnace that… helps souls cross over from this life to the next…

While you and Peppa investigate the octagon, your copy heads in deeper into the lower level, passing by several walls covered with writings. Some of them look instructional, others seem to have more… esoteric purposes. Deeper down there are pipes of some sort that lead out from what you can assume is the center of the area, several of them broken and long since emptied. Checking where your copy is in relation to where you and Peppa are, you feel that she’s probably five or so minutes away from the target, if she keeps up this cautious pace.

Back with you and Peppa, you spot another animal in the distance. A stocky, dog-sized lizard of some sort, not as long as the other animal you saw, but still possessing multiple legs and a reptilian appearance, that seems drawn by the commotion. As it notices the two of you, it seems hesitant, grumbling lowly like a crocodile. The octagon is still glowing softly, Magic still detectable through it.

>A. Just ignore the animal, focus on the octagon

“Peppa. It worked before, yes?” you ask your cousin. “One more try?”

She nods. “Sure, one more try.”

And so the two of you head closer to it, the lizard letting out a louder grumble as you do, but then the two of you hold up your hands and declare, “Bah-weep-Graaaaagnah wheep ni ni bong.” Making sure you get the hand gestures right, you both wait for the animal’s response. And… its growling slows, with it slowly making its way closer to the octagon. You watch as it rubs its face over the restored obelisk… and then starts to gnaw on it.

And what little Magic you pulsed into it is slowly depleted. The lizard then curls up around the obelisk and… lets out a yawn, coming to rest against it. Huh. “…Do they like, eat Magic or something?” Peppa questions.

“Probably not directly.” you speculate, sensing its Ki. “But it does seem like it’s nourished by it. Maybe that’s why these lizards are in this place? Augmenting their diets with a bit of residual energy feeding. You did see that other one give off sparks when it flicked its tongue at us, right? Yet that mouth isn’t really designed primarily for something like this. It still had rather sharp teeth, probably designed to tear into more fleshy materials. Or at the very least rough roots and tubers.” Sensing more, you do feel a couple other animals in the area slowly making their way towards the two of you. You then get out your loaned Scouter from Maple, checking to see if there are any mechanical things in the area giving off energy. While there’s nothing in the immediate area, you do detect something much further off… close to that third point of interest, towards the edge of the city. Wonder what that is.

As your copy moves in deeper, she comes across an entrance that’s partially sealed off with a large amount of rubble, but there is something beyond it. Looks… like another large room, though more like a mixture of some control room and… if you were to guess, some kind of laboratory? Weird.

>A. Wait for the other animals to come, see if they’re seeking the same things that one was

“Hey, Peppa, did you bring any sketching materials?” you ask her. Peppa nods, bringing out a Capsule. “Okay cool! Think you could sketch the reactor? And maybe the animals that show up near it?”

“Yeah… yeah! I’ll do that.” She smiles and finds a place to sit and sketch.

https://youtu.be/sMoFtVXjQAY

And so you give a few more pulses of Magic into the octagon, carefully paying attention to the “circuits” you’d felt before. As you do, the other animals start to slowly head in, moving towards the octagon. The first one starts to wake, letting out a grumble as it sees the others approach. You float down, making a little water bowl and enchanting it with a minor durability enhancement, then filling it with water and ice and leaving it by the animal.

It looks at you curiously, then investigates the bowl. Cautiously, it moves against the bowl with its mouth, then starts drinking the water. You smile at it. “Imma call you… Buster. Like, Buster Keaton.” The animal looks up at you, then starts to… bite the bowl, gnawing at it. Now with the first one calmed, the other animals move past it and continue to the octagon. Most seem similar to the first couple you and Peppa spotted, reptilian ones that are either long and slender or stocky, all multi-limbed, and all fairly small in size. There are a couple things that look more like actual insects, though bizarre ones, buzzing through the air in bodies at least 12 segments long with a pair of wings along each, swarming the reactor like moths. Once you’re sure you’ve got a good enough idea on the “circuit” structure of the hexagon, you get into contact with dad again, taking some pictures with your Scouter.

“How’re things on your end? You and Monty finding anything useful?”

‘Lots, actually! We’ve found some interesting artifacts out here, looks like things related to how this area functioned. Most importantly we’ve found… well, what I’d guess you could describe as some sort of journal or log. No idea on what’s written in it, but from how it’s put together, what visuals it has, and the residual energy I’m sensing from it, I’d say it’s got something to do with Magic.’

“Oh cool! Magic, alien spellbook, huh? Galactic Patrol’s probably going to be very interested in that. By the way, Scouter picked up something off towards that third point of interest. Probably a machine of some sort.”

‘Keep an eye on that, we’ll try to regroup there in 30 minutes.’

You float up to Peppa, who’s happily sketching away, and see that her sketch is nearly complete and looks remarkably realistic. She’s got quite an eye for detail.

Your copy carefully moves the debris blocking the entrance to the lab out of the way. Once inside you notice that the lab is very… different than you might have expected. There are strange objects on tables, bits that look like petrified wood, with odd symbols etched into them, circular designs carved into tables, glasses made of unusual crystals that are stained with a color that’s hard to describe, an almost a fluorescent lime color with a slight purple sheen. The general vibe of the area feels… hard to describe, but “alchemical” might be a good place to start. But luckily, you do happen upon something that might be useful: a bound collection of, while not exactly paper, some dense, papery substance with lots written in them. Some kind of journal, like the one dad found.

As your copy collects it down below and starts to head back out, you decide to give a quick scan of the minds of the animals that are in the area. None are sapient as far as you can tell, though they do seem to be wary of you and Peppa. Mostly they’re focused on obtaining “energy” and… rest. Huh. Okay then. “We should check on the next area, Peppa. Dad said to meet up there in 30.”

She puts the finishing touches on her sketch and quickly puts it away. “All right, let’s go then.”

You spot the animal you gave treats previously and wave to it. “Later Buster! You behave yourself!” And so, you and Peppa head out of the reactor building the same way you came in. You actually notice the animal follow you both for a bit, though stopping and finding a place to rest away from the others once it’s clear you’re not going to give it any more snacks. Taking to the air, you and your copy regroup, with her handing what she’s collected over to you, now having to deal with the increased gravity again.

“You know, I gotta wonder what the people who made this place were like.” Peppa ponders aloud. “We’ve seen these multi-legged lizards already, but we know little about the ones who actually lived here, built these things.”

“Maybe they were twelve eyed bug people the size of a rice grain, adapted to this extreme high gravity!” you speculate half-jokingly. “Or maybe they were a lost Tuffle colony that experimented with powerful magic and paid a terrible price in trying to become so resistant to high gravity they all flattened into pancakes!.”

“Hah, don’t think either are all that likely.” she says, sticking her tongue out at you. Peppa looks off in the distance, noticing another reactor, though with more toppled structures around it, including some kind of crashed platform. She lets off a soft “hmm” as the two of you fly towards the third point of interest.

“You wanna check that place out too, huh?” you ask her.

“W-well… I mean, it does seem different from the one we were just in. It’s got me curious.” she tells you.

“I mean, I’d be tempted to head right towards it with ya, but we can’t delay too much, cous. How about we make note of where it is on the map and head back there later?” you recommend. “Check it out with dad and Monty.”

“...Suuuure. But let me do something for a moment. It won’t take any of your time, so just continue on ahead.” She bolts off in the direction of the reactor.

“H-HEY! PEPPA!” you yell at her. “What’re you-?!”

“Just keep going, it’ll only take a second!” she yells back.

You grumble and keep flying, but keep your eyes on her. Peppa gets close to the reactor, and… you see her dip suddenly, and she powers up quickly to regain altitude. She stalls for a moment, then… vanishes. And reappears right in front of you.

“Okay! Yes, we’ll go back there later!” Peppa says. “Gravity’s even higher over there!”

“Was that necessary?” you ask her in a grumbling tone.

“Just had to make sure.”

You huff at her but continue on. Eventually the two of you reach the point of interest… and you notice something mostly hidden nearby. And not one of the ones used by the Galactic Patrol… or even the PTO, for that matter. It’s a… mushroom-like one with a large saucer on the top and a sort of “stalk” on the bottom. Checking with the Scouter, you confirm that this is the energy source you detected earlier. Not sensing anyone inside, though you are picking up faint Ki signatures deeper down.

“Well well well. Looks like we’ve got uninvited guests.” you comment. “What should we do about them Peppa? …Peppa?”

Her eyes narrow. “I’ve… seen a ship like this before. I know I have.”

Huh, that weird lookin' spaceship reminds me of something from Star Wars. The Slave-1, when it lifts off from the ground, it does so with the cockpit pointed up at the sky like a real spaceship. But then, it reangles when it's off the ground to exit the atmosphere at an angle pretty much parallel with the ground. What's up with that?

The two of you move closer to the ship, Peppa’s eyes going over it very carefully. “Yeah… this is definitely one of the ships that belonged to the Luud Cult.”

You snicker. “The what cult?”

“The cult that was working with the Machine Mutants.” she tells you, voice quite a bit more serious.

“...Oh. That’s not good.” You look over the ship some more. Can see an entrance to it, but it’s closed. Not sensing anyone inside at the very least. Hrmn.

“Peppa, let’s wait for dad and Monty to get here. Meanwhile, tell me about this cult. What exactly happened with it?”

Peppa sighs softly, touching down next to the ship. “It started off over on Tarble’s world, Tech-Tech. Some of the PTO ended up in alliance with the Luud Cult-” You snicker again and quickly hold your hand to your face to stop yourself. Peppa continues, “They had this introductory video for the cult with… this song that I think might be the worst music ever devised in the universe. Was a rambling, poorly done production about how the cult would ‘break the chains’ of those who joined it. From there we also met one of the Machine Mutant leaders, Mugen, who gave us some info on the planet the cult originated from. They were keeping some people who joined as little better than slave labor, while others were worshiping this evil doll that was in fact something developed by the Machine Mutants.”

“And these guys have a ship that belonged to them?” you ask.

“Yeah, we passed by a garage of them on the way to the cult’s temple. I’d recognize these mushroom ships anywhere.” Peppa affirms. “And that creep Dolltaki, their ringleader, was using his cultists to empower the Machine Mutant Luud… while also taking young girls away and turning them into dolls.” she tells you, anger in her voice rising.

You place your hand on her shoulder. “Hey, hey, cous, it’s okay.”

She lets out a loud sigh. “Yeah. Yeah. Point is, whoever was using this ship was working for the Luud Cult.”

“I’m gonna relay this info to the Galactic Patrol. Keep an eye out for any activity.” You tap the Scouter and manage to get a message through to the observational platform, contacting Irico. You inform him of the presence of another ship, one potentially belonging to the Luud Cult. He’s actually surprised, but lets you know he’ll request backup to make sure all are apprehended. You let dad and Monty know what’s up too, and they head along quicker, arriving a few minutes sooner, Monty even using the Raio-ken to make sure he can make it to where you are quickly.

With Monty having trouble slowing down. And nearly ramming into a wall, before you and Peppa catch him and set him down. “H-hah… wow, g-guess that’s still something I need getting used to.” he says in a daze.

With dad next to you, he looks over the ship. “Hrmn. Peppa, do you recall any groups that might be associated with that cult?”

She shrugs. “Not by name? I didn’t meet any pilots I’d recognize. There something off with it?”

“It looks like it’s been reinforced somehow. I can see there are bits where there’s been some hasty painting to cover it.” Acer taps the side of his helmet. “They definitely came prepared.”

“All right, let’s head down and meet up with those uninvited guests, shall we?” you ask, a grin appearing on your face. With everyone in agreement, you search for a way into the lower levels, coming across a few pathways lit with odd crystal lines giving off a soft glow from the ceiling. There are more bits of writing on the walls, but as you approach the point of interest, you end up sensing some weak Ki signatures.

“What did you uncover so far, exactly?” Monty asks you and Peppa.

“Few things.” Peppa starts to answer, trying to calm herself. “The reactor we came across was in the shape of a hexagon, apparently working some kind of Magic. It had liquid gold filling it.”

“The gold was arranged in a sort of ‘circuit’ pattern.” you add in. “Peppa made a sketch of it. Also some of the animals we’ve seen feeding on the Magic.”

“Huh. Master Acer and I did see a few animals ourselves. Plus that journal.”

“Izzy, you found a journal too, right?” he asks. You nod and show it to him. “Keep it safe for now, we’ll need to have Irico look them over when we head back up.”

“Ah, okay. Was kinda hoping to look over the two myself, but guess I can wait.” As you head in further, you almost think to ask Peppa about that music she heard, and if it was anything like some of the things you shared with Giru… buuuut eh. Probably not the best time just yet.

https://youtu.be/t0OhKO2bu1s

Finally you get a clear sense of the other people down here. Four in total. As you close in, Peppa recommends everyone lower their Ki, with her taking the lead to close in on them. You come close to a large opening to… well, it’s like some kind of building set in a large subterranean room. The walls of the room have this marble sheen to them, lit softly like the reactor was, just enough to give the building inside it an… oddly sterile feeling.

You also spot the people responsible for the four Ki signatures you felt, a quartet of people in little robot suits of some sort… ones that look very bizarrely familiar. “Come on now, keep that cheery beat up, girly. We just gotta haul some of the metals in here and the Macareni gang will pay us big time for it. Keep your eyes out for some Blue Aurum too, it might be present in this area.” a man’s voice calls out in the distance.

“And what exactly fills you with the bright idea that it would be present here?” a girl’s voice asks skeptically.

“Didn’t you hear, doll? This was apparently part of some kinda spaceport! Spaceports mean Blue Aurum.” another masculine voice, though higher than the first, tells the girl.

“Still don’t know why you had to bring the kid along.” she grumbles… as the last little robot bonks against a wall.

“Can’t leave our little bro in the ship! Someone might go after him!” the first voice declares. “You’ll understand when you’re older, girl.”

She sighs loudly. “You’re lucky the Galactic Patrol are so lax.”

You watch the group contemplatively, observing them as they head in deeper. Peppa finds their comment curious. “Spaceport, huh? This is a bit too deep underground to be part of a main spaceport, though.” she comments quietly.

“Actually, it would make sense.” Monty tells her. “This is probably a maintenance area, if the spaceport proper is up above. It would be how they could park their ship so easily.” He looks up. “See how the ceiling has a line along it, with a pattern on either side?”

The three of you look up. Quite perceptive of him. With the four finally heading into the building proper, all of you take to the air as best you can and move along quietly, following them. None of them actually feel all that strong, in fact the girl who was talking before feels even weaker than the rest. Even Monty feels stronger than her. You listen more to their conversation as they head in deeper.

“Do any of you even know where you’re going?” the girl asks, helping the small robot that was bumping into walls earlier keep on a straight path with the rest.

“Yeah yeah, Pasta gave us some pointers on it. His gang’s managed to sneak through a couple times before.” the second male voice responds.

“Suuuuper risky.” she says as she notices some crumbling parts of the ceiling.

“Hey girly, you joined up with us for this.” the first voice reminds her.

“I need the money. That’s it. Only bringing it up so you don’t make any risky moves.” she says flatly. “You lot aren’t faring any better are ya? Why else would you come to a crazy dangerous place like this, Bon Para?” They get quiet, grumbling a little. “Ahhh, lemme guess, previous work closed down?”

“You could… say something like that. Bro… should we tell ‘er?” the second voice asks.

“Eh. Not like much point in hiding it, Don.” The group head into a larger room inside the building, circular and sort of like some kind of ten meter tall cylinder. “We were employed by the Luud Cult, ya dig? Helpin’ them find some good, rare stuff worth lots and lots of money. But they went kaput when some do-gooders barged in. Think it was that ugly, long-haired Galactic Patroller that rounded ‘em all up.” His mech turns to face hers. “Now that you know this… you having second thoughts, girly?”

“Tch. As if.” she scoffs. “Don’t have a spotless record myself. I’m just trying to make some money to live by. No more petty pickpocketing, just living money.” She has her robot point at his. “You keep up your end of this deal, I’ll keep up mine.”

“Good.” Bon Para affirms. He turns back around, and you can hear a sound of some kind coming from the mech. It looks over to a broken pillar. “Aha!~ Right on the money.” The mech… then brings out a Capsule? Wait that’s DEFINITELY a Capsule! You can even see the logo on it. It pops open to reveal some kind of storage tank. “Let’s get to work, people!”

They congregate around a puddle of gold fluid, gathering it up. The girl watches as it siphons up the fluid and asks, “Where’d you get these things from anyway? Never seen Galactic Patrol or even the PTO use machines like these.”

“Some black market stuff, think they came from that Ee-Arth planet.” Don Para tells her.

She gasps. “The one Kuriza went to? With those Herans that tried to invade it?”

He affirms with, “Yeah that one. Man every time I hear about it, it’s like some kinda concentrated ball of crazy and bad vibes! Yet they come up with such useful tools, so guess I can’t complain too much.”

Peppa seems to be more at ease, but still less than pleased after hearing they worked for the Luud Cult, if formerly. “All right. What’s the plan? We go after them, or just continue to keep an eye on ‘em so the Galactic Patrol can spot them later?”

“There is still that other point of interest.” you note. “And I’m not sensing anything major over here. Not with them, at least. Hmm…”

“All right, let’s get going. Let us know if there’s anything that comes up.” Acer says, moving down deeper carefully. Peppa seems hesitant, but agrees to go along with it, heading in deeper with the group. Sensing out any strong Magical signatures, you’re led further underground, into what… seems more like some kind of tram system, octagonal in shape. Well, a spaceport would have some kind of transport hub, that checks out. You’re still a ways above where you’re sensing whatever large concentration of Magical energy lurks in this place.

“Perhaps these tunnels could lead us deeper?” Monty suggests. “Would make sense if there’s some kind of maintenance area further along the track.”

“I could also start drilling.” Peppa suggests, forming a Ki drill.

“Not sure about that, this place has crumbled a bit already. We’d need to be careful about doing much damage to the structure.” dad tells her.

Back with the criminals, and making sure to stay out of their line of sight, you look over their mechs. They are things that originate from Earth, but you haven’t seen Capsule Corp. make anything like them before. Can’t quite see what they look like through the glass, would have to get in closer to do that. With them finishing up stealing that liquid gold, they start to head back out. You duck away, the four moving casually at the moment, not suspecting anything.

“What do you plan to do with your haul anyway?” the girl asks, returning the device to its Capsule.

“Maybe get a bigger ship. Some luxury thing, where we can dance the nights away.” Don Para replies. “Should be enough for a decent-sized liner when we’re done.”

The girl seems skeptical. “I think you’re overestimating it juuuuust a bit.”

“Not in the slightest. It’ll be enough that we can get even little Son Para stuff to spare.” Bon Para declares. “He’ll be able to grow up and be able to dance just as well as we can.”

“Para Para!” the last voice, higher in pitch and very childlike, calls out, trying to make his robot dance. The girl tries to keep it in a straight path again.

“What’d the Macareni gang tell you the pay was, girly?” Bon Para asks.

“More than anything I’d ever had in my life. Like, PTO career mercenary kinds of pay.” she says. “Still don’t think that’s enough for a whole liner.” The four make their way out of the room, and you trail behind them as they go in the opposite direction of everyone else. You also sense an animal moving in on their location. Seems like a bigger one than before. You… also start to feel kinda tired. You have been keeping this up for quite a while now…

Back with your group…

“We better follow Monty’s plan. Seems logical enough.” you recommend. “Sorry cous, maybe another time.”

“Sure.” Her Ki drill fades as you all start to walk down the track. You do feel a little tired as you move, starting to experience more of the crushing pressure around you, but you’re able to hold yourself steady. Keep it together, Izzy. Heading in, you eventually come across a small alcove with a broken sliding door. It’s pushed open and you see a larger room with a wide staircase leading down deeper, broken in certain places. Leading down you end up coming across a room that… looks a good deal like that lab you were in underneath the reactor. However, there are broken tubes of some kind in the lab, with large, pitch black crystals scattered around from where they broke.

Monty approaches one cautiously, noticing that there’s some liquid gold seeping from it. Acer meanwhile kneels down to the crystal. “Izzy, can you sense it? There’s this… Magic coming off these.” He brings out the Masamune, pointing it towards the crystal. The sword lets off a white glow… and the crystal “glows” in response. Well, not truly glow. It seems to DARKEN the area near it, as if sucking the very light out of the room around you. You all also feel a slight pull towards it.

Acer immediately puts the Masamune away. “Everyone, don’t touch them, don’t even get near them, and most importantly of all don’t raise your Ki while close to them.”

“What about telekinesis?” Peppa suggests.

“Maybe. We’ll need to be careful though.”

You look at the crystals again. Something about them… feels familiar.

Back with the criminals…

You start to get an idea on how to deal with these folks. Or at the very least, keep them occupied until the Patrol gets here, without them stealing anything else. Waiting until they get to a larger room where you’ll have more room to hide, you get ready to use the Clothes Beam for a surprise… and fail to account for the animal that was following them. Which turns out to be some kind of vaguely reptilian, vaguely feline creature with six legs and two “arms” of sorts, about the size of Icarus.

And it lets out a growl at you, sounding like a crocodile’s grumble mixed with a lion’s roar.

“What was that?” Bon Para asks, turning his mech back. “Who’s there?”

“Not who, what!” the girl exclaims. “Over there!”

The animal’s attention turns to them, and while it growls at you again, even makes a swipe at you with one of its arms to get you to go away, it starts to close in on the group. “Aww dang, some of the critters of this world. Bro, should we turn up the music and scare it off?” Don Para questions.

The animal stops moving towards them, confused… as they three guys in the mechs begin to dance. You hear the girl let out baffled and almost angry noises as they do so. “Dtch… ngh… w-what are you people DOING?!”

“What we do best, girly, now sit back and watch!~” Bon Para tells her. “Bonparapara paraparapara bonpappa!~” They move the mechs around in some bizarre dance… no not just bizarre. It’s awful. Just awful. “Right and right, left and left, spin and turn and a GREAT BIG SMILE!”

The animal, still baffled by this song and dance, tries to regain its senses, attempting to step closer… when its feet start to tap against the ground in rhythm. As they continue, the animal finds itself somehow dancing along to their beat, its confusion replaced with worry, fear, as its body moves to the rhythm of the music. Bon Para and Don Para dance closer to it, and then… body-check the animal with their mechs. It yelps in pain and scurries away as best it can, still moving to the beat of the music though no longer as entranced by it.

And it’s then that you notice you were tapping your foot along to the beat too. Wait no stop that! “Okay, that takes care of THAT one, but what about the other?” the girl questions the brothers.

“What other?” Bon Para replies.

“Didn’t you see? It took a swipe at something before approaching us.” she notesOH CRAP.

Now or never! You create a glitter-filled goat made of reinforced PTO armor materials and scurry up the pillar you were hiding behind. The brothers’ mechs head closer to where you were, the goat already pulsing slightly from the intense pressure. As Don Para closes in. “Okay little critter, you better go too, or you’ll have to feel the bea-eh?”

It lets out a loud pop, exploding and leaving glitter all over his mech. He screams in fear from the jump-scare, his mech collapsing back. Bon Para’s robot hurries over to him. Helping him stand. You use the Clothes Beam to form another closer to the girl’s mech, this one filled with some lighter gasses so it floats a bit before popping. The girl notices it and almost instinctively pulls the kid’s mech away from it, having it fire off a beam at the goat. That pops it too, spreading glitter all over.

You quickly use a bit of Wind Magic on the popped glitter, the dense atmosphere making it a bit harder to control, but you manage to form a very vague image of a goat from the floating glitter, even having it “bleat” at them, before letting it fall normally.

“B-b-b-bro… w-w-w-w-what was th-th-th-that?” Don Para shakily asks as the glitter is cleared from his mech’s optics.

The girl has her mech look around the area. “Keep your eyes peeled! We might’ve been followed!”

Hmm… given the design of these robots, this group definitely got them from Earth. Not Capsule Corp… Pilaf? Emperor Pilaf did design mechs in his past. They’re working for this “Macareni gang” too… hrmn. Wasn’t… Pilaf a Makyan? Ah! The Macareni gang might be Makyans themselves!

With them distracted by the glittery spooks, you skillfully move on ahead, leaving them to try and deal with that. The group of criminals close in together, guarding themselves and ready to scare off any unseen attackers. After a few minutes, they seem to calm down a bit, starting to move on ahead. You do leave a couple traces of glitter on the path they move towards, but in the direction opposite where you’re hiding, making sure they aren’t on your trail. Still… feeling more of the pressure around you, but you’re holding for now.

“B-bro, you s-s-s-sure we should h-h-h-head this way?” Don Para questions.

“We’re still looking for the Blue Aurum, yeah? Ain’t nothin’ that can stop us if we keep our wits about us. Even if this place IS haunted, no ghosts can match our funky beats! Yeah!~” Bon Para declares.

“Ghost nothing, we’ve probably been followed.” the girl notes.

“You think it’s the Patrol? Why would they be off tryin’a spook us, doll?” Don Para questions.

“If it is the case, clearly they don’t think much of any of you.” she responds, dryly. “Better keep your wits about you.”

They head into another large room with pools of liquid gold seeping through broken structures, getting another capsule out and repeating the same process. As they do, though, you notice something out of the corner of your eye. A strange, very dark blue rock near what looks like the remains of a broken shuttlecraft of some kind. One… with a strange sense of Magic to it.

Back with your group…

Peppa lifts the rock with telekinesis, though with more difficulty than she expected. “It’s… really heavy. Even for this planet.”

“Don’t put out too much energy. Just enough to lift it and move it.” dad tells her. “If it starts to get stronger, drop it immediately.”

You rub your chin, pondering as you look it over. “Yeah… these things are definitely bad news. We shouldn’t really mess with them too much… but I must admit I have an idea. Can you bring it closer to a more natural lightsource, Peppa?”

“I’ll give it a shot.” she says, slowly bringing the black crystal to one of the lights in the room. It flickers slightly… though you feel that’s because of of a Magic power source for the light.

“Oh! Wait, I’ve got an idea!” Monty calls out. “Master Acer, I brought a few flashbangs just in case. Maybe that’ll be a good test?”

Peppa sets her goggles on her face. “Toss ‘em and let’s see.”

“All right, everyone else, shut your eyes. Peppa, we’re counting on you.” dad tells him. There’s a quick toss and all of you but Peppa duck down, the blinding light filling the room.

“...Yeah. Okay, it’s clear now.” Peppa tells you all. “The crystal didn’t get any stronger, like before. The light was kinda… ‘smothered,’ would be the best way to put it, but not absorbed.”

“...Try and set it down on that table there.” you instruct, another idea popping in your head. “Dad… if it absorbs Magic, what might happen if I use the MP Buster on it?”

“Izzy that sounds pretty dangerous. We aren’t sure what this is, exactly.” he tells you.

“Instead of using this one…” Peppa places it down, then goes for a smaller black crystal, the smallest she can find. “Let’s try this. Preferably not here, though.”

“Okay, find a larger area to try this out on.” The two of you leave the room.

“Wait! Hey! Girls you need to be careful.” dad warns.

“Don’t worry uncle Acer, we’ve got this under control.” The two of you bring it out into a much larger room, you even forming the Spirit Bits around you and Peppa while she puts it on the very edge of the room. “All yours, cous.”

“Okay! MP Buster!” You fire it off, and the attack hits the crystal…

And… it starts to give off a glow. An actual glow, blue-tinted gold. Success!

…Then it cracks. With a sound of thunder, the crystal fractures into tiny pieces, sending a shockwave through the area that thankfully doesn’t get through your Spirit Bit barrier, a bright light following. Once that fades and you’re able to look at it, you see… blue rocks of some kind floating in the air.

The criminals gather closer together once the ground stops shaking, Don Para letting out panicked whine. “What nooooow?”

“We are DEFINITELY not alone in here!” the girl declares, readying her mech’s blaster and trying to locate any interlopers.

“Why do you have to put it like that girly?” he asks in a louder whine. “Oh man, I’m so not ready for some spooky ghosts.”

“Don, Don, my little bro, come on, no ghosts can stand up to OUR funky beats.” Bon Para declares. “We gotta keep our cool though, ya dig?”

“Maybe I haven’t been around these parts, but I am PRETTY sure ghosts don’t use high explosives. That shaking was from something going boom.” the girl says, the word “boom” causing the kid to start laughing uproariously, still trying to look for intruders. “…Which probably at the very least means they’re not Galactic Patrol.”

Back with your group…

“...Lesson learned.” Peppa starts. “No MP Buster on the evil crystals.”

“Definitely.” Acer agrees, though cautiously moves closer towards the floating blue rocks. “…This is strange though. It’s almost like-” As he steps in, he starts to float upward when he takes the step. “Wah! The heck?!” He sets himself down, then backs away. “Okay, gravity’s massively reduced near them.”

Monty actually seems intrigued by them, moving closer. “…Blue Aurum? Yeah, unrefined stuff, but definitely Blue Aurum.”

“Oh! I’ve heard of that.” Peppa pipes in. “That’s a kind of starship fuel, right?”

“In a sense, yes. It’s a metallic component many alien ships use for space travel. These are unrefined versions of it.”

The obvious question then remains. “Why… would they infuse Magic into them, then?”

Back with the criminals…

Taking advantage of their confusion, you look over the area and plan on how to get the blue rock out of here. Let’s see… aha! Okay! You raise your Ki a bit higher, and decide that they need a little distraction to keep them off of you. So, you materialize some more glitter and use Wind Magic to start moving it through the air, having it swirl around the ground at first, then rising it higher.

“Uhhhh… b-bro… g-g-girly… y-you s-seeing this?” Don Para exclaims as the glitter fills the air.

“Don’t lose your cool, Don! Get ready!” Bon Para’s mech starts to play that tune again. You have the glitter take the form of a goatly head, having it bleat at them. And with their attention on it… you dash across the room and quickly take the piece of Blue Aurum, having the Clothes Beam ready and yoinking it with a sturdy mesh scarf. You exit the room with them none the wiser.

…Though sadly your attempt to spook them fails. The Para brothers dance at the glittery goat with renewed vigor, and while you try to make it bleat again, the glittery figure gets harder to control… and you find yourself sort of moving along with it. You end up having to move away from them and heading down further for a place to hide. Still… feeling a bit more pressure from the gravity, but you’re holding steady for now.

“You see, little bro? No spook can match our moves!” Bon Para declares triumphantly.

“Spook or not, I guess you guys do have this better under control than I thought.” the girl admits. “Money’s still on someone trying to mess with us. Think it’s clearer now, though. Whoever they are, they’re not the Patrol, and probably trying to secure some treasured for themselves. Which makes our job all the easier.”

Back with your group…

All of you head back to the lab, with you materializing some containers for the corrupted crystals before you’re in. Dad and Peppa work to collect the crystals with you and put them placing them in the containers, Monty helping carry them out of the room. In total you recover a 13 distinct crystals of varying sizes. As you do though, you feel your own crystal pulse while they’re near. As if… sensing the abnormality residing in these.

There’s something about it that… without words, keeps telling you, “Fix it.”

You keep that in the back of your mind as you head back to gather up the broken remnants of the Blue Aurum you purged of Magic. As you do, though, you find that they REALLY mess with your sense of direction. You do notice they aren’t floating upward, at the very least, but they’re experiencing gravity differently than the rest of the planet. More like they’re in the pull of Earth’s moon than the crushing pressure of this world. It gets bad enough that you end up stumbling, Monty hurrying over and helping you up.

“Izumi, are you okay?”

“Y-yeah…” You stand, starting to feel more of the pressure around you, but keeping steady. “Patrol on their way still?”

“Master Acer checked in with them, they’ve got a few people about to touch down.”

Both copies of you start to head in closer to one another, though the one closest to the criminals starts to leave little clues to lead them closer to the exit. Materializing some flecks of gold, and some blue bits of dust, you trail it so it looks like someone trying to hurry out of the building. And once they notice…

“AHA! Told you!” the girl declares in the distance. “Looks like we’ve got competition, boys~!”

“Well well well, so the little ‘spook’ is tryin’a take our rightfully swiped loot.” Don Para, now emboldened, starts to head to the front of their team.

That’s right, just gotta follow the breadcrumbs. You even materialize a small but easily mistakable bit of rock that looks just like one of those bits of unrefined Blue Aurum. Finally, both copies meet up and you recombine into one. The weight of the world around you finally feels easier to manage. You still feel kinda tired from it, but the pressure is no longer as intense as it once was.

“We got everything?” dad asks.

“Looks like.” you reply. However… you again feel that crystal pulse in response to the crystals. It… asks you, once more, “Fix it.”

“AHA! Jackpot!” Don Para exclaims quite some distance away from you all still, thankfully.

“Blue Aurum, so these folks must’ve found the mother lode.” Bon Para comments.

“...Or they’re trying to trick us.” the girl notes. “Think they’d REALLY be so careless as to drop a bit of it?”

“They must not wanna mess with the likes of us. Heh, can’t say I blame ‘em.” Don smugly responds. “Looks like the ‘ghosts’ are scared themselves.”

As you all hear this, Peppa turns back, glaring in their direction. Dad and Monty start to head out the entrance, and while you follow, you hear an exclamation. “OVER THERE! FOOTSTEPS!” Agh, that girl again! Did they see any of you?

You’re out of their line of sight… when Peppa exhales loudly. “Patrol’s nearby?” she asks.

“Just landed, headed our way.” Monty tells her.

You get the strong urge to try and take care of the crystals right now, but… no, not right now. “Dad, Monty, make sure they know where we are.”

Your father turns to look at you. “Izzy?”

“We’ll be fine, just making sure they don’t go wandering off.” you reply, standing beside Peppa.

“...Just don’t do anything rash.” Acer and Monty head out.

“So, got a plan for this, cous?” you ask Peppa.

“...Yeah. Yeah, I do. You spooked them a bit on your own. I can build up on that. You go on ahead.” She nods for you to head forward, a smirk on her face.

“Ohohoho, my little cousin has a prank of her own to pull? Now this I gotta see.” You head forward, readying yourself to let out a glittery bomb once more. As you sense the group moving in with their mechs, you duck behind a pillar and set the trap.

“Ohhhh no you don’t.” the girl declares, firing a beam at the glitter goat with her robot’s blaster, popping it. Distraction achieved. You use Wind Magic to start echoing a haunting moan through the room, manipulating the glitter to form the image of a goat with it. “Boys, you know the drill!”

“BON PARA PARA!”

“BONPAPPA!”

Oh god this again. You do your best to keep steady, trying to not listen to the beat as you attempt to make the glittery, ghostly image of the goat bleat louder. But it gets harder to control, and you feel your foot start to tap to the beat, your hands starting to move and make the image mimic the dance. You hear the girl’s mech start to charge its buster. “I know you’re here, pal! So how about you hand over what you gathered and we can let you run along with your tail between your legs? Nice try pretending this place is haunted, but the jig is up. Show yourself.”

Peppa, come oooonnn…

That’s your cue then, huh? With your costume prepped, you use Instant Transmission to appear behind them. And with the deepest, most haunting voice you can muster, you say to them, “Very well.” You let your aura erupt around you, the sheer force of the air pressure causing the dancing pair to stumble.

The girl’s mech turns back to face you, firing off its beam at you… and doing absolutely nothing to you. Her confidence fades as she sees you… or rather, what you’re wearing. A shaggy, ethereal sheet that flutters around from your aura, glistening with glitter, your outstretched hands giving it a truly ghostly appearance… and in the same color and similar material to the sheets, you have an ethereal goatly mask over your head, almost skeletal in appearance, fit to have its mouth move like yours does (going to have to thank Cocoa for showing you that little special effects trick). The girl laughs nervously. “Ah. Ahah. Ahahaha. I’m in danger.”

“RUN.” you command in a roar.

The four start screaming and flee in terror, you floating closer to keep them going. And just then, Izzy catches them all in a large net, the four stumbling over into it, the beat coming from their mechs finally stopping. They continue to scream, though it takes on a more confused tone.

Hmm… you could keep up this charade, maybe have Izzy join in, but you decide you’ve had your fun. You float over the captured criminals, who start screaming again, and dramatically toss off the disguise. Their confused screaming slowly fades, with the girl stopping first and asking aloud, “The heck? It’s some kid?”

“Not just ‘some kid.’” you let them know, your aura glowing bright around you.

“Gh! …W-wait, that kid, she’s familiar.” Bon Para comments.

“She’s from Ee-Arth! She’s one of the people who fought the Herans!” Don Para calls out.

“...Ohhhh crap.” the girl gulps. “Which means she’s… a… a Saiyan…”

You cross your arms. “My name is Son Peppa. Champion of Earth. Saiyan, Tuffle, Earthling, I’m all of the above. I’m here working with the Galactic Patrol, with my cousin, uncle, and his student.”

“Hi~!” Izzy pops her head out. “Hahahahahaaaa~! You all got praaaanked by the one and only glitter ghost!” She lets out a puff of glitter. “Hahaaaa but seriously you’re all under arrest and stuff.”

“Now mind telling me who you all are and what you’ve been doing here? I’m sure the Patrollers will be very happy to hear every last detail.”

“Grrrhhh… so that’s why you’re familiar! You were one of the people who took down the Luud cult!” Bon Para grumbles… and causes Izzy to start to snicker. “You’re the reason we’re lost reliable income, having to go for risky business like this!”

You shrug. “One of them at least. So how about you?”

Izzy taps the tip of her chin. “If I recall correctly, they’re the Para Para brothers. Don’t think I ever caught your name though…” She waves at the girl’s mech.

“Tch. What’s it matter to you anyway?” she responds.

“You’re in this situation for a reason. You’re the odd one out among them.” You float down to the ground, letting your aura fade. You can see through the mech’s visor that she looks kinda young, honestly probably close to Pantea’s and Videl’s age, skin with a kinda green tint to it and hair short and white. At least, that’s what you can assume through the tinted glass. “You don’t have to do this. None of you do.”

And she rolls her eyes at you. “Gawd, you trying to make me gag, kid? Cut the goody two-shoes act. Name’s Cheelai, if that’s what you really want to know.”

“Thank you, Cheelai.” you tell her with a friendly smile. “Now, all of you are here just to loot this place, or is there anything else you’re here for?”

“The Macareni Gang was gonna pay us big for this haul, especially if we get the Blue Aurum from this spaceport.” Bon Para says. “Plus we’d get to keep a bonus if we find some of the ship tech still working.”

You raise an eyebrow. “Working how?”

“Capable of flying and all that, kid.” Don Para explains. “You know, the good stuff.”

You sigh and shake your head. “Well, guess this is all wrapped up now. Time to meet with the Patrollers.” You gather them all up and get ready to teleport away.

Back with Izzy…

“Okay, glad to help cous, but I got something I need to do myself. Talk in a bit!~” You wave to her as she teleports away with the criminals, and you meanwhile rush back to dad and Monty. “Guys guys guys guys guyyysss!” you call to them.

“Caught the criminals?” Monty asks, and you nod. “Left enough glitter to cover the whole floor?”

“No!” You think for a moment. “…But good idea. Next time though. Anyway Peppa’s handling that.”

“So what’s up?” dad asks.

>A. I need those dark crystals, quick, have to do something with them
>B. Can you guys follow me out of the city for a bit, I need to do something and would like some backup
>C. Ehh… on second thought it’s probably not that urgent, meet up with Iricho and make sure the criminals are processed properly

I agree with Cheelai, can Peppa stop being lame? She came here to pilfer magical artifacts with her cousin, so what if they want to do the same without the GP's knowledge?

“I need those dark crystals, quick. In fact, can you guys accompany me out of the city real quick?” you request.

“Wait, what exactly are you going to do?” dad inquires, then his eyes widen. “…Izzy you saw what happened with just the small one.”

“And that’s why we’re going out of the city. No collateral, and far enough away that we’ll be able to keep ourselves clear from the release of energy.” you explain.

“Izzy…” dad starts to grumble, not amused.

“You might be able to do better if you use the attack high above.” Monty suggests, causing Acer to do a double take. “I mean, it’ll keep her out of the blast radius better, and besides, it’s better that we’re with her in case anything goes wrong, right?”

You grin and raise your hand. “Heeeeyyy, thanks Monty! High five!”

He sheepishly laughs and high-fives you as dad sighs. “Fine, fine, but tell me why you want to do this, first.”

Your hand moves to the crystal you own. “…Just call it a hunch.” And so, you all get a good 15 kilometers away from the city, dad and Monty taking cover behind a hill as you set down the gathered, corrupted Blue Aurum. Once they’re set down, though, they seem to give off slow pulses that start to draw them all closer. Crap. Okay, gotta do this quickly! You fly about 500 meters into the air, but as you do you again start to feel the effects of the planet’s gravity on you. Grh. Focus. Okay, have the crystals in sight. Here it goes! “MP BUSTER!”

The beam quickly fires down at the crystals, with shade that was starting to grow around them… suddenly vanish. Youuuu did it! ...Hey now there’s a blue gloOW CRAP! You try to form a barrier quickly but you fail to in time as the massive explosion hits you, sending you hurdling through the sky. You try your hardest to stop yourself but the force of the blast, amplified by the absurdly high pressure of the atmosphere, hits like a hurricane.

You end up sent into the city, your body skipping along the streets until you end up crashing into the side of a building. You lay there, dazed, trying to recollect your strength and get everything to stop spinning. Okay. Okay. But you got this done. Fixed them. All good. Just-

Your crystal pulses again. As if again telling you… “Fix it.”

Sitting up groggily, you take the crystal out and frown at it. “What do you mean?! I fixed them! The stupid blue rocks don’t have any more Magic infused with them!”

It pulses once more, pointing you in a different direction… towards the other octagon building, that Peppa approached earlier. “Fix it.”

“…Really?” It pulses again. Great. Greeaaaat. “You know for a Magic crystal you’re pretty demanding.” you mutter at it. It pulses once more.

You take out the Capsule and press on the top. It opens slightly, but instead of letting out a “bom” kind of sound, it releases a soft hum with a very calming glow… and you feel a sudden jolt of power course through you. Your Ki reserves are restored. “Heh, well, guess you can call that a successful field test, auntie Maple.” you comment aloud. You look in the direction of the octagonal reactor, pulling the crystal out. “Well, you want me to head there next, huh? Okay, but lemme check on something first…” Telepathically, you get in contact with Peppa. ‘Hey, cous, how’re your new friends doing? Everything good over there?’

‘Izzy what the HECK was that?!’ she yells in your mind. ‘Are you okay? What happened?!’

‘Izumi! Are you all right?’ dad’s voice demands too, and you can sense him and Monty headed your way.

‘I’m fine! I’m fine! Hah, don’t worry, that just knocked me around a bit.’ Okay even if that probably did look worse than it felt, still reason for them to be concerned. ‘Those Blue Aurum rocks all purified of the Magic?’

‘They are but that was really risky! If you were any closer it’d have been much, much worse for you.’ dad scolds.

‘Okay, okay! Peppa, still waiting on that answer.’ you remind your cousin.

‘That scared the crap outta them and Iricho, but they’re in Patrol custody right about now. That Cheelai girl has been rather snarky and rude up ‘till that explosion. But things should be-’ Peppa stops for a moment. ‘…Izzy, you’re by that reactor I checked out earlier, yeah?’

‘Yep. Gonna head that way next.’

‘Keep your guard up. Something’s happening.’ Peppa warns. ‘I’ll be there in a bit.’

You look in the direction of the reactor, and then at the crystal again. “Okay. We’ll try things this way. Let’s do this, pal!” …You just called a crystal “pal.” You might have hit your head a bit harder than you thought. Ah whatever! You place it on your armor and form the Magic Knight mech around you, taking to the sky and heading towards the octagon.

You sense Peppa actually beat you there, using Instant Transmission… and also sense someone else in the area. Someone who definitely wasn’t there before. Feels strange. Kinda like… Piccolo? No, not quite. As you close in you quickly realize that this thing isn’t friendly, as it attacks Peppa. You get a visual on the thing… a strange, muscular dragon man of some sort.

https://youtu.be/gwFRGz3fIOc

“Just my luck that the first thing I come across is another damnable Saiyan.” it declares, slashing its claws at your cousin. “You feel familiar though, girl! Tell me, who are you?”

“You first, pal!” Peppa shouts, kicking the creature away from her. “What are you doing here?”

“Well, what I’m doing here? I guess you could say that I’m still trying to figure all that out myself. Last I recall there was a pond of blood and a whole bunch of folks watching people fight, next thing I know I’ve got bodies again… and am on a world with some VERY intense Magical energies. This isn’t Namek, that’s for sure.” He fires a blast of energy from his mouth, Peppa dodging aside, only for him to grab her by the arm and try to bite her. She quickly forms a Ki drill and punches it into the dragon man, causing him to let her go and step back. But… as he does, his body reforms, mending the hole she just made. Replacing it with a silvery substitute.

Peppa’s eyes widen and you see her tense up, rage building on her face. “You… you’re a Machine Mutant!”

“Not quite, girly, heh heh heh heh… I can see why you’d be confused, though. I am Captain Bongo of the Big Gete Star. And this world is now MINE.

You touch down beside Peppa, your mech’s frame towering over Bongo. Ptch. “Bongo.” That’s a dumb name. Yet… one that vaguely sounds familiar. Peppa’s aura surges higher, sparks erupting around it. “I dealt with one group of thieves today already. Just because your aim’s higher doesn’t mean it’ll go any differently.”

“I don’t think you understand the kind of people you’re dealing with.” you declare. “Maybe it’d be best to leave while you can.”

“You think you brats are going to put me back in the dirt?” he asks with a smug grin on his face, looking back towards the reactor. The grin grows more malicious. “No. No I think I’ll take this world.”

“What do you mean ‘back in the dirt’?” Peppa asks, her Ki drill spinning faster.

“Come now, little girl, even if you are a Saiyan you’ve gotta be capable of understanding that.” he growls out. “You possess quite a lot of power yourself though… I think I’ll be taking some of it for myself too! Then I’ll send you into Hell, Saiyan!”

As Bongo attacks you, you bring up your Ki drill. He manages to feint and strike you in jaw before you can counter… and yet you’re able to take the hit easily. That surprises him. “…Well. You’re a tough little monkey.”

You stab upward into his arm with the Ki drill, uppercutting and breaking it off, forcing him to stumble back. He gets some distance, using the opportunity to regrow his arm, that damn silver sheen over it, slowly fading back to his normal colors. “Tougher than you know.” You dash at him and knock him away, using the Clothes Beam to form a net to capture him before he hits a building. Good. He might be able to regenerate from normal attacks, but you’ve got something more up your sleeve!~ “Izzy! I’m gonna take him outta here!”

“Okay cous, I’m going on ahead, I need to do something real quick.” Her mech lifts off and flies closer to the reactor.

You pull hard and swing him out of the area, into the more normal gravity. He powers up and tries to break free, only for you to teleport away and strike him in the back. You then create several weights and toss them at him, sending him down to the ground. He’s pinned, for now, got a moment to contact Irico. “Heads up, more trouble’s arrived and it’s much, much worse than the group we just caught. I’ve got one of them, but there could be others.”

“Copy that, Son Peppa. We’ll- …uh-oh.” You hear the sound of things moving over the coms. “We’ll be heading out ASAP!”

“What are you seeing?” you ask, sensing in their direction. Dozen… somethings are headed towards Irico and the criminals. Dang it.

“Some kind of monoeyed machines. Don’t think they were adapted for this gravity, but they aren’t friendly, that’s for sure.”

“If you need help, tell me immediately, I’ll be there.” you let him know, then float down towards Bongo. “So, you’re gonna sit this out, okay pal? Stay right here.”

He starts to chuckle. “Ahhh… now I remember. Now I know why you seem so familiar. You’re not just a Saiyan.” Bongo turns his head. “You’re a Tuffle too.”

Back with Izzy…

Your mech lands near an opening in the reactor’s roof. As you do, rocks crack and fall down the opening, almost like they’re fired by a powerful slingshot straight at the ground. You head in, though you sense something… “off” inside there. Still, you head on in, and make sure to contact dad and Monty too. ‘Are you two okay? Something new’s come up.’

‘Izzy! We’re good for now, heading your way, what’s happened?’

‘Dad, do you know anyone named “Bongo”? Specifically some weird, bulky dragon guys that might be Machine Mutants?’ you ask.

‘Eh? I… wait. That sounds familiar… yeah! Maple fought him on Namek with Goku, Lazuli, and Yamcha. He was trying to use the Dragon Balls to release his creator.’ Dad then takes a moment to consider WHY you asked that. ‘…Don’t tell me.’

‘Peppa’s got him under control for the moment, but it sounds like someone resurrected him, somehow.’ You finally touch down, the main reactor room much darker than you were expecting… save for some ominous, soft pulses of energy coming off it. You also get the impression that there’s something else in the room with you.

Something big.

Something awake.

Izzy…

You let your aura flow around your mech, a green glow filling up the reactor… and revealing the place has this creeping metallic covering slowly covering the room. You check with your Scouter and locate a few energy signatures moving around, mechanical life forms. But more importantly… there’s something bigger, in the room with you. You float up and see… what you could best describe as some monstrous, mechanical hybrid of a dragon and an octopus, covering most of the reactor proper. The glow you noticed earlier is… coming from it. You can sort of sense proper Ki coming off of it, but you aren’t sure you’d call it alive, even. A cyborg of some kind? ...And yet there are wires holding on to the thing, coming from the encroaching metal. As you get a better read on it, you realize that the epicenter of this metallic substance is coming from deeper underground, in the lower layers of the city.

Warning sirens blare around you. “INTRUDER ALERT. INTRUDER ALERT.”

One of the mechanical energy signatures you detected earlier rushes in, revealing itself to be a cyclopian robot of some kind. “HALT. INTRUDER ALERT.” It takes aim at you with its clawed hand, and fires it like a grappling hook. You smack it away. More are coming.

“Well well, looks like I should keep closer attention on you, too.” Bongo’s voice echoes through the area. “You’re a curious one… you’ll add to the Big Gete Star’s rebirth nicely!”

Back with Peppa…

“Yes… you’re the child of that Tuffle, and the Saiyan that was with her. I’m certain of it now.” Bongo says venomously. “What a coincidence.”

“What ARE you, exactly?” you demand.

He struggles against the net. “I am a vassal to a great and ancient Namekian, who tried to free his creator from imprisonment, only to end up struck down on his homeworld… by your progenitors, girl.”

Wait. This is… definitely sounding familiar. “I get it now. Mom did tell Gohan and I about you before.” you growl at him, scanning the area with your goggles. Getting readings on… a number of machines. “How’d you get revived?”

“Still trying to figure that one out myself, to be honest. Not letting it go to waste though.” He chuckles again. “The Big Gete Star has found quite the power source to fuel its restoration. This world will be mine, girl.”

“Doubt it.” You bring out your Power Pole, pointing it towards him. “You’re staying right here.”

“Am I?” Bongo’s voice asks from behind. You feel energy build up there.

“EXTEND!” You point the Power Pole back and smack it into the other cyborg dragon, leaping into the air once you’ve knocked him back and getting a better read of your surroundings. There are three of them, two closing in and one captured. Crap, and there are others headed towards Irico! No time to lose! You use Instant Transmission and teleport over, and not a moment too soon!

Right as a robot fires a blast at the group, you appear and tank the hit with ease, letting your aura flare and spark around you. You twirl the Power Pole around and start smacking the robots with it, taking them all down with ease. Once you’re done, you turn back and check over them all. The Para brother, Cheelai, Irico, and a couple other Patrollers are all there. That was close, but looks like they’re fine. “…Okay. Might’ve been a little wrong about you, kid.” Cheelai mutters.

“You’re getting out of here, now.” you tell them. “Grab on.” They all gather to you, and you lock on to the station above, finding someone in a wider area on the station. You get them all up there, the group intensely confused but thankful at the very least. “Keep an eye on the situation, we’ll do what we can to hold these things off.” you tell them and teleport back down.

And right next to another copy of Bongo. “Rescuing the weaklings?” he asks, body… starting to spark with electricity. Not just any electricity. Magic. Crap. “How noble. But you’re the one we REALLY want, girl! You’ll help me start anew!” He tackles towards you, though you manage to vault over him with the Power Pole and then smack him in the back of the head with it, hard enough that it shatters a chunk and exposes the circuitry underneath.

Before you can follow up and pin him down too, though, beams crash into you from behind and send a painful amount of electricity through you. “AGH!”

“It’ll be over quicker if you stop this foolish resistance.” yet another copy tells you, intensifying the electricity. “Your power is greater than even that Saiyan’s. Yes, you’ll make for such wonderful improvements!”

“NOT… HAPPENING! HHRRRAAAAHHH!” You power through it and let out an Explosive Wave that pushes the beam back, turning around and barraging him with strikes from the Power Pole. Just as the other starts to recover, you switch targets and thwack him into the ground too, finally getting a chance to pin the pair down. Okay. Got that covered. Sense around for more of them. Just got…

…At least a hundred of them left. Crap.

Peppa…

The horde slowly closes in on you. You sense for Acer and Monty, and find that they’ve actually been able to avoid them. ‘Uncle Acer, you and Monty doing okay?’ you ask telepathically, watching as a horde of… silver… begins to march closer.

‘Peppa! Yeah, we’re fine. We’re keeping our Ki signatures low, trying to close in on Izzy at the moment. What about you, are you all right?’

‘Yeah. Got Irico’s group off the planet, along with the thieves. There are a LOT of these things out there though, be careful.’ Your aura flaring up again, you grip the Power Pole tight. “So. Who’s first?” you ask aloud to the gathering forces. “Come on, you think I can’t take you all on?!”

“Admirable bravado.” one of them replies. “But how long will it last?”

Izzy…

“So what exactly are you doing to that thing?” you demand, motioning towards the dragon… octopus… robot… thing.

“Ah, that’s one of the first things I encountered when I woke up here.” he replies, more of his robots heading towards you. “It’s proven quite useful in helping me get the Big Gete Star back up to speed.”

‘Izzy, we’re on our way!’ dad tells you. ‘We’re outside the reactor. What’s going on in there?’

‘Nothing good.’ You have the mech take a defensive stance. “What are you doing to it?!”

“A number of things. Refueling, learning… adapting.” he tells you with a malicious chuckle. “Perhaps I won’t need Namek after all! Yes… instead, I think I’ll save it for my dear creator’s return. A homecoming for him. The sooner I complete… integration with that creature, the sooner I can make this planet my own!”

Izzy:

Izzy…

As you size up the forces gathering around you, you try your best to reach out to the octo-dragon thing on the reactor. What you get is… quite a surprise. It’s not just one mind you end up in contact with. It’s dozens, hundreds, thousands and more, it’s like an army of minds all merged into one, yet thinking in sync with them all.

It’s a... hive mind, of some sort? Perhaps “hive” isn’t the right descriptor. Some kind of gestalt intelligence. And it seems to understand that you’re reaching out to it, but its attempt at a reply almost immediately gives you a headache. Like a stadium of voices calling to you in unison. At first you can’t quite understand what it’s saying, but soon it starts to become clear. ‘{ALIEN. CAN YOU UNDERSTAND?}’

‘Yes.’ you affirm. ‘I’m trying to help.’

‘{WE CAN NOT BE REMOVED EASILY. YOU MUST EASE THE FLOW OF POWER TO US. EASE THE FLOW TO RELEASE US.}’

Flow of power… the reactor. Okay. ‘Dad, Monty, I’m going to try something, but I need a chance to do so. Bongo’s got this place swarming with his goons, but you might be able to divert them away from the reactor. The alien they’ve captured needs me to ease the flow of power out from it. But in order to do that, I need some space.’

‘Got it, Izzy.’ dad responds. You can feel his Ki start to rise. ‘Monty, follow my lead. Izzy, tell us when you’re about to start.’

‘Will do. Stay safe.’

“Oh? Frozen in fear?” Bongo questions you. “Then this will be easy.”

“Hardly. Simply wondering when you’ll realize that you can’t win here and give up.” you retort. The robots in the room open fire on you, though you’re actually able to move quickly enough to not only avoid them, but knock them back out of the room and into the hallway they came from, then seal off the door behind you with a Magically materialized wall, enchanted with some extra durability.

“Clever. But that’s not my only entrance, girl!” Bongo informs you… and just as soon as he’s about to send a copy of himself in, you’ve already blasted him back, frozen the entry way over with Ice Magic, and for good measure materialized some barricades to keep it sealed. You even blast the observation platform as soon as your Scouter picks up on some attempting to enter through there, freezing it over too. You fly around and then start to hit chunks of the floor with Ice Magic to seal it off.

‘Dad, Monty, need that distraction now!’ you tell them.

‘One distraction, coming up! Masa, Mune, let’s do this!’

As you get on top of the reactor, you sense a massive amount of energy outside, then hear something “slice” through a chunk of the building. Aimed upward, nowhere near you, but that definitely got Bongo’s attention. “Grh… more interlopers.” he growls in a gargled voice, whatever communications in the room he had disrupted.

Standing on the reactor with your mech, you place its hands down on it and recall the circuits you studied in the previous one. This one though seems to have a strange influx of Magic in certain areas… it’s unbalanced. Carefully, you pulse energy through the octagon reactor, managing it so that the power being given off from it is quenched. After a bit, you manage to pulse just enough for the octo-dragon to start to move on its own… and in one fierce pull on the wires restraining it, it breaks them!

“{WE ARE FREE!}”

Peppa…

https://youtu.be/73dc1D8YHBg

The silver horde manages to get the jump on you initially, firing off a mass of beams from all over in your direction. You manage to guard against it, but beam after beam crashes into you, and it takes you to your defensive limit to hold it off. You finally yell out and release an explosive wave to knock the beams back. “IS THAT ALL YOU GOT?!”

One of the copies of Bongo comes barreling at you while you’re distracted, trying to tackle you from the side, his body sparking with electricity. But you ram your head into his and leave a noticeable dent, cracking his mechanical skull and exposing the circuitry underneath. You then fire off a Clothes Beam and create a weighted scarf that wraps around the wound you made, spinning around the ground with the Power Pole to leap into the air, thwacking it down at the machine and again firing the Clothes Beam down at its wound, keeping it pinned and making it harder for it to repair itself.

Three rush at you in the air, barraging you with Ki blasts at first, then pulling back and creating a vortex of fire around you that closes in on you, the intense heat mixing with the dense atmosphere to amplify the effect around you. You spin the Power Pole around in counter-motion to the swirling fire, at first merely causing it to stop swirling, but eventually breaking the flames apart as you extend the Power Pole more and more, thwacking them aside. You use the Clothes Beam again and pin them down once more. “I gotta say, these mooks are getting boring. Bongo, come on, you gotta have something better than this waiting for me, right?”

“Oh but I do!” a dozen voices declare above you. Each one bringing a single finger up and forming a black ball of energy, which start to combine into a massive dark sphere… that you can feel start to pull everything towards it. Did… did they just try to make some kind of fake black hole?! They get out of the way as it starts to drop down towards the planet. Crap, gotta stop it! You charge a Kamehameha and fire towards the slow-moving ball of darkness, and while it pushes it back slightly, initially, it slowly starts to gain ground, the light from your beam starting to bend and warp around it. Grah! This isn’t working! Think, Peppa, think! Taking a quick glance around, you notice that most of the copies of Bongo are smugly watching as you fail to stop this. Which… leaves them pretty open.

(cont.)
>>
>>4336004
https://youtu.be/UH-EtLjN2B8

And that gives you an idea. You give one final pulse with the Kamehameha and not only use it to push the attack back, but push yourself away… and as you fall slightly, you twirl the Power Pole and tap into your full strength. “All right Bongo. Wanna see what I’ve REALLY got?” You vanish, teleporting to one and striking it with the Power Pole, following up with the Clothes Beam to distract it. But then you get to one much further away, and repeat the process. Again, and again, and again, dozens and dozens of times. You bounce off the landscape, not giving them a moment to try and predict your next move as you keep teleporting around everywhere. They try to fight back, but you just move too quickly for them to catch up with you. “You’re making this too easy, pal! Come on, was that your best shot?!”

“When the Big Gete Star has finished assimilating the new specimens-” One tries to say, only for you to smack it in the face and knock it away. Another attempts to continue, “-this bravado will fade-” You do it again, leaping off and Clothes Beaming the next one. You teleport again, leading two towards the first reactor you encountered. “-and you will become part of something infinitely greater!”

“You have a strange definition of Infinity and greatness if you think you’ll ever be either!” The sudden lighter gravity makes the next smacks with the Power Pole all the easier, and the difference in gravity makes them fall all the harder when they’re out of it! You get the last few you can detect, even as they’ve grown wise your tricks, you use Wind Magic to amplify your hits and send them all in one direction.

Under their fake black hole. As the few hundred of them are gathered, pinned and still damaged thanks to you using the Clothes Beam expertly. You extend the Power Pole to its maximum length and let Wind Magic swirl around it, swinging it like a baseball bat and sending them all upward. And you continue the swing, crashing into the dark sphere with it. You yell out with all your might, and manage to actually send it moving back. The sphere starts to crack and emit rays of bright light from it, the gathered robotic copies of Bongo getting torn apart from the intense gravity. One last thing!

“RASEN!” You hold your hands out and form spheres of Ki in your palms, then bring them together, pulling them back to charge your attack fully. “KAMEHAMEHAAAAA!” You fire off at the sphere, pushing it out with all your might. You keep at it until it exits the atmosphere… where it finally bursts open in an explosion that still manages to shake the planet.

You did it.

You fall back, trying to catch your breath. Might… might need to heal up soon.

Peppa…

You let out a soft groan as you push yourself back up. Okay. Get off your butt and stand. You exhale loudly and sense around. None are coming towards you immediately. Okay. Good. You take to the air, still got enough strength left to get around, but you need a moment to let your body recover and take stock of the situation. That was most of them, for sure, and they won’t be recovering from that. But… there are a couple that have appeared on the surface. New ones. Ugggghhhh. Great. And… there’s this silvery sheen coming out from the… the reactor you went to.

Where Izzy is.

And you can sense Monty and uncle Acer at.

Your body tenses and your eye twitches. Calm down. Calm down. Deep breath. You focus and sense that… they’re still okay. ‘Izzy, Monty, uncle Acer, are all of you okay?’ you ask, trying to keep yourself calm.

‘Peppa! Yeah, jeeze, I sensed that just a bit ago. We’re fine so far, but are you okay?’ your uncle asks you.

‘Y-yeah, little scuffed but otherwise fine.’ you tell him.

‘I’ve managed to free this alien that Bongo was leeching off of. It’s sapient. Might be able to help us.’ Izzy adds in.

‘Okay. I’m gonna be on my way.’ You head off in their direction, trying not to focus on the silvery color slowly spreading out from the reactor. Just keep focus.

Izzy…

You hop off the reactor as the octo-dragon stretches its many limbs, floating upward in the air, a glow coming off from its body. “Glad I could help with that. What are you going to do now?”

“{WE MUST ASSESS THIS SITUATION.}” it tells you in its cacophonous voice, its head moving around slowly, seemingly sensing the area around it. “{DISREPAIR. DETERIORATION. IT HAS BEEN FAR TOO LONG. THE ONE WHO BOUND US MUST BE DEALT WITH FIRST.}”

Sounds like it’s willing to help you take on Bongo. Good. “How can we help each other, then?”

It looks at you, sizing up your mech. “{YOU ARE SKILLED IN THE ARTS OF MAGIC. YOU FIGHT THE ONE WHO BOUND US. HELP US RESTORE BALANCE, IF WE HELP YOU GET RID OF THAT INDIVIDUAL.}”

“I can work with that.” The robots finally manage to break through the ice-covered barricade you set up, heading in and taking aim at you. You quickly knock them away with Wind Magic and then freeze them in place with Ice. “Come on!” you tell the octo-dragon, marching through the hallway with it flying behind you. As the two of you move, you notice that it doesn’t really flap its wings… well, if you can really call them “wings” all that much. More like it’s gliding along somehow. Feels like it’s using its Ki too… but something’s off about it. Like there’s this ethereal tint to its presence. Mh. Focus on it later.

You end up heading into a lower level as you look for dad and Monty, finding them hurrying along towards you. The pair skirt to a stop when they see what’s following you. “Izzy the HECK is-?”

“Bongo was feeding off of ‘em, doing something to the reactor because of it. Set ‘em free.” you explain quickly. “We can talk as we move, so keep moving!” All of you head down deeper as you sense a couple copies of Bongo headed your way. “Dad, Monty, how much longer do the two of you have?”

“About 35 minutes.” dad says. “I can manage for a bit outside of it, but it’ll be a race against time. And Monty will definitely need to be up by then.”

“I’ll still help however I can until then.” the boy says with determination.

Dad looks over to the octo-dragon. “And… how about you, big guy?”

“{THE ONE WHO BOUND US MUST BE DEALT WITH. AND BALANCE MUST RETURN TO THE HAKKERO.}”

Today was cool! I really like punching robots and explosions, and octopus dragons are cool.

>And… there’s this silvery sheen coming out from the… the reactor you went to.

>Gohan gets back from Otherworld, with a box. He asks Peppa, "Hey Peppa, you know how Baby took up space in your head with even a glint of silver triggering you?"
>A wary Peppa says, "Yeeeah?"
>He opens the box, "Well I took his head!"
>The sight of Baby's head sends Peppa into a screaming fit and she dies of shock.

I wonder if this Octo-Dragon has a name? I would guess Forneus since he looks like a sea creature and he's bound to a furnace.

Dad glances at the octo-dragon curiously. “Hakkero? Is that what those reactors are called?”

“{THEY ARE OUT OF BALANCE. THE ENERGY IS NOT BEING REGULATED CORRECTLY.}” it replies. “{THE ONE WHO BOUND US MUST BE DEALT WITH FIRST.}”

Monty seems to recall something as it speaks, then quickly asks, “Master Acer, the journals!”

“Oh!” you exclaim. “Good thinking, Monty!”

“Indeed. Hey, we managed to find some journals while investigating this city, might they be able to help us understand how to fix them?” dad asks.

It turns its head and looks at him curiously, needing a moment to understand what he’s asking. Once it does, though, “{THE HAKKERO SHOULD HAVE RECORDS ON THEIR OUTPUT PRIOR TO THE EVENT. COMPREHENDING THEM MAY BE BEYOND YOUR KIND, BUT SHOULD YOU PROVE OTHERWISE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO GUIDE YOU IN RESTORING BALANCE.}”

Dad nods. “Okay, that’s some good news then! Thanks… uh… I don’t think we ever got your name.”

“{SUCH A THING IS BEYOND YOUR MIND’S ABILITY TO COMPREHEND. WE ARE MANY, ALL CONVERGED INTO ONE. OUR ‘NAMES’ HAVE LIKEWISE CONVERGED. INSTEAD, YOU MAY REFER TO US AS NAZAR.}”

“Okay, Nazar. Got it.”

“So Nazar, I’ve been able to pick up that you’re a native to this world, but you seem like you’ve been out of commission for quite some time. What do you last remember? How long have you been here?”

“{WE RECALL THE EVENT. THE DOWNFALL OF OUR WORLD. OUR MAGIC FAILED US AS THE GREAT RUIN SWEPT ACROSS OUR WORLD. THE PLANET EATER CAME FOR OUR PEOPLE.}”

“The… planet eater?” Monty repeats worriedly.

“{GIVEN THE DETERIORATION OF THE HAKKERO, IT HAS BEEN AT LEAST TWO DEVA SINCE WE ENTERED OUR SLUMBER.}” Nazar adds. Your group gives it some confused looks. Its head moves around for a moment, then focuses on Monty, causing the boy to gulp nervously. “{ONE DEVA IS EQUIVALENT TO 4 AND A HALF MILLION OF YOUR YEARS.}”

You blink and look back at it. “You’re… NINE MILLION years old?!”

“{THE HAKKERO WERE NOT MEANT TO CONTINUE SO LONG WITHOUT MAINTENANCE.}” Nazar emphasizes.

Well. Nine million year old octo-dragon. Great. Okay, okay, focus. “Nazar, you said that comprehending these journals may be beyond us, but I was able to free you, wasn’t I?” That brings its attention over to you. “Might I be capable of understanding them?”

“{PERHAPS.}”

Okay, it’s a start. “We also happened upon other things imbued with Magic, even Blue Aurum, corrupted with Shadow Magic. Did your people experiment with them?”

“{MINOR EXPERIMENTS, YES.}”

“So… would you know anything about Magic Crystals in general? Or the power of Mahou?” you ask.

“{WE DETECTED THE MAGIC CRYSTAL IN YOUR POSSESSION AS SOON AS YOU MADE CONTACT WITH US. IT IS… CRUDE, BUT HAS POTENTIAL. IT MAY BE ABLE TO BE REFINED TO SERVE A FUNCTION SIMILAR TO THE HAKKERO’S REGULATORS.}”

Well that’s some great news! “When can we get started on that?”

“{ONCE THE ONE WHO BOUND US HAS BEEN DEALT WITH.}”

“R-right, okay, sure.” You let out a nervous laugh. Okay, yeah, focus.

“All right, we’ve got no time left to lose then. If Bongo’s causing trouble here, who knows what’s going on in the rest of the universe? We have to fix things and make sure other worlds are safe too. Now let’s go!” You march forward, leading them all deeper into the reactor and into the lower levels. More of those monoeyed robots approach your group, raising their cannons at you. “Don’t think so!” You fly forward and grab the pair with your mech’s hands, locating a copy of Bongo that tries to stop you as well.

He holds out his hand and the area in front of you begins to close, as if a wall of machinery is growing out from the ceiling and floor. You toss the first robot into it before it closes completely and then have your mech snap its fingers, releasing a torrent of blue fire that the sheer gravity of the place sort of… condenses into a splash of plasma, burning the robot and making the wall glow red hot. With the same hand you created the fire with you release a powerful beam of Ki, tearing both the robot and wall apart and propelling them towards the copy of Bongo, knocking him to the ground. You then fly at him and smash the second robot into his body, keeping him down. Two more Bongos fly at you as you hold them down.

“Izzy, make way!” dad tells you. You leap out of the way and watch as he slashes through the pair with the Masamune, then hits them with slash after slash until they’re little more than chunks of metal. Acer then pulls the sword back and blasts the pieces away with a blazing attack.

Monty and Nazar follow behind as you hear from Peppa to weigh them down with the Clothes Beam and keep them from regenerating. Seems she’s closing in as well… and she’s got a plan. But first, Clothes Beam! You do just that and keep moving, finally closing in on what you feel is the strongest concentration of energy in the area. Finally, you arrive in an area morphed and molded unnaturally compared to the architecture from above. And seated on some kind of throne with wires jetting out from it and into the dome-like interior of the roo- why does this feel familiar? Agh, focus! Bongo rests his chin on his knuckles, smiling maliciously at you all.

“Perhaps I should have made the resistance lighter if you were headed right to me.” he comments, letting out a low, dark laugh. He raises his other hand, and forms a black sphere in his palm. “How much longer can all of you last, I wonder?”

Back with Peppa…

https://youtu.be/zhm71xjXXX0

“Is this a bad time?” Cocoa asks through your goggles as you smash through a couple monoeyed machines. “Becauuuse there’s some stuff going down.”

“Not at all! Please, tell me, what’s happening?” You kick off the mechanical wall and spin in midair as more fire at you.

“I mean I literally just woke up to the sound of platoons of cavalry marching through the streets and- Oh that’s a tank.” she tells you. “There are like… the legions of the dead marching the streets.”

Crap crap crap. Cocoa… “Are you safe? Do you need me back?”

“I’m safe, I’m safe. I actually see Mr. Yamcha heading out and fighting some off. Ah, hey, there’s 19 too! What about you? What’s going on?”

You thrust the Power Pole back and smack another robot backward. “There’s a crazy alien dragon cyborg thing that my mom and dad fought on Namek that broke out of Hell and is trying to take over this planet. He threw a fake black hole at me! Rude!”

“Rude.” Cocoa agrees, laughing to try and ease the tension. “I’ll keep you updated. Please take care.”

You look back at the mess of broken machines. “Aheh. I promise I will. I’ll try to be back soon.” Hooh. Okay. Was… good to hear her voice again but god that is not helping put your mind at ease. Just what’s happening? Mmh. Focus, Peppa. Izzy’s close by.

“Ahh, so you have a special someone too.” a voice comments ahead of you, making your skin crawl from how he’s not at all making it sound like a threat. “And you’re choosing to stay here to fight me?” Your head turns and you see yet one more copy of the alien dragon standing before you, flanked by at least 20 more of those robots. “Rather selfish of you, girl.”

“HRRRAAAAAAHH!” you yell out and knock several robots apart with your Power Pole, aiming at their joints, then fire a barrage of Ki blasts at the copy of Bongo to force him back.

(cont.)
>>
>>4337720
“Ngh… you’ve wasted quite a bit of energy already, girl. Do you really think you can fight all of us? You’ve barely made a dent.” he says, even as chunks of his body are blasted off. “Our number will-” You Clothes Beam the wounds you’ve made and weigh him down.

“Even if you make a thousand, a million, ten million more, I’m not going to give up. Lucky for me though, I don’t have to.” You sense around and find the Ki signatures of Izzy, Acer, Monty, and some other thing with them. Let’s see… and that’s probably Bongo riiiight over there. You back up just a bit and take aim with your Power Pole… and form a Ki drill at the end. “EXTEND!” It digs into the floor, drilling through and going further and further… riiiiight until it ends up making contact!

Quickly retracting the Power Pole, you lock on to Izzy’s Ki and teleport down to her. And… agh! Dang, you hit but it wasn’t enough! Bongo looks over his now missing arm, more amused and surprised than in any visible pain. “Well. That was quite clever.”

You point the Power Pole at him. “Time to put you back where you belong, Bongo!”

“We’re going to stop you and fix this mess! That’s a promise!” Izzy yells out, her mech ready to face him.

“You lost to my sister once, and let me tell you, I’m on a whole league above where she was when your ass got kicked last time! Better give up while you have the chance!” Acer adds in, Masamune glowing with power.

Bongo stays seated, still smiling at you all. “Very well. Come at me!”

Peppa…

You fire the Clothes Beam off at Bongo… and watch as it gets caught up on a metal spire that erupts from the floor. Agh! “The Big Gete Star allows me to adapt, evolve, and grow stronger. With it, I can cheat death. You really think that technique would keep working after you used it so much?”

You form a Ki drill on the tip of the Power Pole once more. “Fine, we do this the old fashioned way!” You leap up and extend the Power Pole down, and this time a large hand shoots up from the floor and grabs it, twisting its wrist to move the drill away from Bongo, with you being dragged along for the ride.

He laughs as you fail to damage him, the floor around him moving and forming into a much, much bigger copy of him, with the real Bongo centered in the head of it. “You don’t listen very well, girl. All this power though, you will serve your purpose well. The Big Gete Star will reach new heights thanks to all of you!” Wires jet out from the giant copy, though thankfully you’re able to yank the Power Pole free and avoid it as they whip towards you.

“Peppa! Careful!” Acer tells you. “If they get hold of you, he WILL drain your energy!” He slashes at the wires with the Masamune, standing beside you, using his full strength now.

“Dad! Cous! Keep him busy!” Izzy asks. “Got an idea!”

“Make it quick!”

Izzy…

‘Nazar, can you help me locate this jerk’s power source?’ you ask telepathically.

‘{WE SHALL.}’ it responds, floating up with you.

Monty takes to the air too. “Master Acer and I only have a few minutes left, Izumi. We need to make this quick.”

“We will!” you declare. Bongo flings out more of the wires from his massive copy’s other hand, these ones sparking with electricity. You use the mech’s limbs to counter and deflect them with the Izumi Combo, then fly around as Peppa and dad draw its attention, even giving your cousin a quick energy boost as you wait for Nazar to give you the signal.

‘{THE NAPE OF THE NECK IS WHERE ITS ENERGY IS FLOWING FROM THE STRONGEST. AIM FOR WHERE THE SPINE WOULD BE THERE, THEN GIVE OFF A DISRUPTIVE PULSE OF MAGIC THROUGH THE BODY, THE STRONGEST YOU CAN MUSTER.}’ Nazar directs you.

“Got it! Here goes!” You get ready to strike, waiting for the opportunity… and actually get it sooner than you anticipated.

“RAIO-KEN!” Monty yells out, dashing around and swerving his body the limbs of the mechanical dragon and even getting in Bongo’s face and… opens up a Capsule. A Capsule that releases a full carton of eggs out of it, which crush under the intense gravity and splatter all over his face, the eggs actually cooking from both the intense pressure and the heat coming off the mechanical monstrosity.

“AGH! WH-WHAT IS THIS?!”

https://youtu.be/WpmtYYD18Gs

You’ve got your chance! You build up Magical energy in the mech’s right palm and then slam it as hard as you can in the nape of the neck of the oversized movie monster reject like the hammer of an angry god. Now let it all out in one destructive impact! “HHHAAAAAAA! FADE! TO! LIIIIIGHT!”

Power flows through the impact sight and cracks and breaks as Bongo yells out in agony, light filling the area as his mechanical body is eradicated. And not only that, the machinery in the room erupt and explode as the body breaks apart, and in one final flash… it’s gone. When you can see again, you notice the torso of Bongo on the now significantly less mechanical (and significantly more ruined) floor. At last. It’s over. You breathe out a sigh of relief, then see Monty give you a thumb’s up. You do the same with your mech.

Though… there’s still more work to do. Z’S needs fixing, and the Earth still might be in peril. And whatever caused this still needs to be stopped.

>Monty takes to the air too. “Master Acer and I only have a few minutes left, Izumi. We need to make this quick.”
Eh, Monty's kinda boring in attitude, just a "polite young man" and I prefer reading about characters who are a lot more rude-
>Monty opens up a Capsule that releases a full carton of eggs out of it, which crush under the intense gravity and splatter all over his face.
As I've been saying, I have always been one of Monty's biggest supporters so far as his character development has gone, he's really coming into his own, and the way he attacks his opponents is amusing. Good addition to the story!

Z'S adventures are cool. I wonder if Nazar is actually a good guy or not which we might pay dearly for if we let it out?
>>
>>4338143
Keep Monty Polite. Rude characters are annoying to read
>>
>>4339263
Yeah this. Having him be clever and tricky is fine. Trying to make him a jerk doesn't fit with how he's been presented so far.
>>
>>4339281
Oh, you're falling into the trap that characters can't change. Please don't.

Acer's building the boy's confidence, and just because Monty has been presented one way doesn't prevent him from changing his ways.

But, there's nothing wrong with a polite young man character. We have several of them, so it might be hard for Monty to stand out.

Pic related is what I want to see from the boy.
