Quest Intro

You are Mikage Chiba, second year high school student, fifteen years old. You used to be the third woman to carry the mantle of the magical guardian of love and justice known as Sailor Moon, after your mother and older sister. A year and a half ago you had a traumatic experience fighting the corpse of the father of your best friend, the struggle for victory leaving you thinking you had killed the man you had set out to save and prompting you to abandon your heritage. More than that, the related emotional collapse leads you to abandoning yourself. Hiding the events as best you could then developing disguises and personas to inhabit and do the things you would not let yourself do, to live while you let yourself wither, you carried on.

Now you know the truth and have been taking measures to put yourself back together, reconnect with family you shunned, old friends, and new ones. More than that you’ve been doing your best to support your younger sister, Koyomi, as she has become the fourth to carry the title as Sailor New Moon.

Interlude: 6, 7, 2

As it turns out, after a rough solo start you appear to be very good at playing the Sailor V Arcade Game. You’ve played the game before, and watched the other girls play it as well, but there was just something fun about routing through the game and learning through trial by error. Honestly you’ve spent the whole day at it and it’s really fun. Especially as you realize parts of the game on this cabinet specifically are actually invisible to humans and absent from the other, newer, cabinets you see other arcade patrons try their hand at.

You’re Diana. For now you’re the only Diana around and that makes you sad because you miss your big sister. You’re a magnificently magical Mau, though beyond being what you are and not being human you don’t entirely know what that means. Well, it means sometimes you’re a cat, and sometimes you can look like a human. In the past few days it's gotten really easy to look like a human. More than that, thinking things and understanding things has gotten a whole lot easier too.

Your world used to be so confusing and large. In your short time here, and you’re becoming painfully aware of how short it's been compared to how fast you’ve found yourself growing up, everything has gotten so much smaller and so much more accessible. With time and practice you’ve conquered climbing. You’ve conquered getting down from places after climbing with no fear. You’ve learned how to trade things. You’ve learned about some of your magnificently manifested Mau magics. You’ve learned words. You’ve learned about family. You’ve learned about naps.
>>
>>4373447

You’re especially happy to have learned naps. Not bedtime though. Bedtime is a lie where you are forced to take a nap just when you’re hitting your stride into the evening. When the world is dark, quiet, open, and you can flex your instincts to prowl and go fast.

You are very good at being very quiet while you go fast. Stealth is becoming your strength and it’s an important part of any Guardian.

And what a grand guardian you are.

You’re a guardian whose amazing at even this game! Even if the cabinet and screen are suffused with visible to your magical cat eyes lines of magic and power. The machine reads you, guiding the magic inherent in your body whilst you play. Someone who couldn’t see these things would be led by them, subconsciously trained by them in ways that improve their ability to process and manage magical energy in developing bodies and minds.

It's still doing that to you, you’re just entirely conscious of it. The sensation kind of tickles, but doesn’t make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

“Wow, that score is higher than BB-chan’s the other day!” a familiar voice sounds next to the stool on which you sit as a figure near your equal in height and stature sidles up besides you.

No. She’s been there. Venus Aino, rising young celebrity Idol and Sailor Venus, stands beside you smiling broadly, how did you miss her by sound or smell upon approach.

“Afternoon Diana-chan!” the blond wigged Sailor Guardian cheers as she removes her sunglasses and her oversized floppy hat to disguise her presence as a well known human.

You don’t break your stride from the game, though you are given a moment’s pause. You don’t think Venus-chan has seen you like this before. Well, you were smaller last time she saw you in human guise.

“Afternoon,” you smile and cheer in return, “How’d you recognize me?”

You’re really used to humans not noticing things, then again she is a Sailor Guardian.

“Well. I asked Yeon-san if anyone else was here yet,” explains the young Idol as she taps her cheek with a finger as she explains her reasoning, “And he said you were playing the old Sailor V game...and no on else here looks like Diana-chan or has a tail coming out of their skirt. So I thought it must be Diana-chan and I was right!”

You hum to yourself and nod firmly, eyes darting between her and the screen you’re so deeply invested in at the moment. The magical process has a definite tunneling of your senses. It’s probably how she was able to get the sneaky drop on you.

Huh? Your tail is manifest. It swishes behind you against the cushioned stool.
>>
>>4373449

She clambers up a stool for the cabinet besides you and balances herself on the edge of the console’s shelf to clearly watch your screen.

“Seriously, you’re really good at this,” she exclaims and then gets even more excited, “AH! And this is the classic Sailor V Cabinet, that means if you beat it like this you’re sure to get a game prize!”

You cannot control the smile that creeps over your face or the twinkle in your eye.

“This game gives prizes too!?” you say excitedly, because you had no idea.

There is a sparkling twinkle in your very soul as you snap back into focus on the game entirely with Venus-chan egging your on.

Your share in an exaltation together to the game’s Sailor-Victory fanfare as your ears perk atop your head. Mechanical components within the cabinet shift and grind. The way the machine has read you is resonating with...something. Something that will later be looked upon as decidedly beyond the intended function of this machine as built, but a side effect of the network it is connected to that you aren’t presently aware of.

Some time later, when what has happened is noticed, someone will figure out that this was caused by a remote command from the ancient supercomputer on the moon; the Eternity Main System.

What you do understand is the sequence of numbers that flashes among the middle of your final score, to your Mau eyes alone, as there is the hard thunk of a plastic item falling into the prize tray on the machine’s face.

You and Venus-chan lean down in reverence and wonder as you see a small plastic device with which you aren’t familiar.

“Oh, it’s a toy flip phone?” Venus-chan questions with uncertainty.

Tentatively you pick it up. To the touch you recognize it is no mundane toy of terrestrial plastic. It is the same matter of the assorted transformation wands, broaches, and devices the Senshi wield to access power. Flipping it up, the screen comes to light with a crescent mark.

“No...it's not,” you offer curiously as your finger feels drawn to the numbers so lit that you saw in your final score.

Six, with a beep.

Seven, with a blip.

Two, with a chime.

The central command button shines to your senses as a silhouette takes shape on the small screen.

“Diana-chan, do you want to play Dance Para-Paradise?” questions Venus-chan and breaks your enthrallment by the device, your thumb millimeters from being upon the shiniest button.

“Do I!” you cheer with an underlying Nyan and all but race her to the co-opt and competitive dancing game.

Clipping the momentarily forgotten device to the belt on your skirt.

Quest Start

It has been...interesting to watch the younger girls welcome Hisako Ito, your recently appointed Kunzite Knight, into the fold. Certainly they had all met the older girl briefly in that moment of pause on the rooftop after the harrowing experience of the fight against her roommate turned Dragon, but there hadn’t been any real social contact or interest since parting ways then before it turned out that she joined your group as a night.

Idly, you wondered about her roommate, your ganguro fashion scene friend Hanako Minami. In the days since this incident she had been scarcely seen or heard from besides her offering of a short apology to her behavior over the social media application Lurk where you and the whole of the fashion circle exist in a perpetual group chat. In fact you learn over a fruit crepe from Hisako who had just told your Knight Marshal Midori Mori, who sometimes goes as Jade in that same ganguro fashion circle, Hanako was feeling really embarrassed about what happened.

You’ll have to follow up with your friend later. And hopefully see to the restoration of the bonds of friendship despite her experiences as a dragon.

“Ito-san, I’ve been meaning to ask, how did you keep up with us that night anyway,” Aiha Mizuno, the young Sailor Mercury, had turned from her central seat in the booth next to your groups, where she sat next to Rin Kumada, the young Sailor Mars, and proper herself on the backing between the booths elbows.

“And carrying another person to boot!” Kanari Kino, the young Sailor Jupiter, said excitedly as she leaned out from the opposite side of that booth with Aiha, Rin, and your baby sister and successor to the Sailor Moon mantle Koyomi Chiba.

Speaking of your baby sister, she had been looking out the window wistfully, having hardly touched her parfait. This is something easily chalked up to the absence of Koito Kino; Kanari’s brother, Koyomi’s beau, and your Zoisite Knight. The boy in question had volunteered for stake out duty so that Hisako could meet everyone officially at today’s meeting and training session.

You hadn’t missed the appraising and gauging look Kanari gave the older girl, ever seeking challenge in some form.

Hisako Ito, taking a sip of her ordered Crowne Cafe Milk Tea to stifle a yawn from how long she’s been tending the stake out shift of your group’s current quarry, reflected on the questions of the two younger girls behind her.

“Careful Hisako,” you offered with a wry and teasing smile, “If she doesn’t like your answer she may knock your coffee right out of your hands,”

The green clad girl in question looks askance and twists her face with pursed lips that you couldn’t help but perceive as cartoonish in the moment.
>>
>>4373453

“And everyone says I was carrying a grudge,” she huffed under her breath for a moment before her face split into a broad grin toward you.

It wasn’t the menacing or aggrieved challengers grin you’d grown accustomed to with Kanari Kino since her awakening. It was more genuine, and rather indicative of the new mood set between the two of you after this morning.

The Winter Wolf considered this as you remembered her reactive move to flip you over in your wild charge during your first encounter.

“My old man was this hardcore old school martial artist,” she softly scoffed into her drink, “Like, he collected training hall signs. And I wound up on that kind of training track with him since I could walk. I know my way around rooftops,”

Behind Kanari Kino, you could see your baby sister looking worried at first, but then resigned as you watched the wheel spin in her head regarding her best friend. She took, in response to this, a consolatory spoonful of her parfait.

“Before we get into tonight’s meet and greet, and maybe training,” Kanari had slid out entirely from her booth to stand beside your table.

Which brings you to this moment of unparalleled tension amid what you thought was going to be an uneventful bit of fun in the Crowne Arcade’s cafe being heading down to speak with Artemis and the otherworldly Sailor Guardian, Sailor Papillon of planet Cocoon.

“Ito-san,” Kanari Kino rolls up her sleeve and pats her arm, “I challenge you to an arm wrestle!”

Midori chokes on her drink where she sits beside Hisako. Keiko Sugimoto, the unconquerable and still only recently hewn and awakened Sailor Sol, reaches a hand across the table to proffer comfort to her momentarily stunned girlfriend. Midori’s robust history with Hisako seems to be prompting her to react poorly to Kanari’s little challenge.

Kairi Osaka, your best friend and Nephrite Knight, gently sips on the straw of a melon soda while casually looking between her ring and this potential spiral of events in the booth over on the other side where she sits with your Spymaster, Saori Umeki, and your Master of Arms Sasha. No doubt in conversation with the spirit bound within amid everything going on.
>>
>>4373454

Meanwhile during all of this, the youngest two of today’s assembled friends and family continue their giddy cooperative playthrough of a step and camera powered hand position dance game; rising idol and Sailor Venus, Venus Aino, and Diana the most magnificent shapeshifting cat from space who acts as your confidant and guardian.

You’ll say nothing for now, this seems to be friendly in nature and mostly between Kanari and Hisako anyhow. Thinking further on it, the sporty scout may be trying to find an outlet after everything that happened at her middle school this morning.

Last night you learned from your little sister that Kanari had been under the attention of a bully, whose name has entirely escaped you for the moment, for her heritage as a Japanese Brazillian. Further Koyomi had happened, through a chain of gossip, that this bully had designs on a particularly nasty prank to be played on her best friend today. After giving your sister the advice she sought you touched base with Kanari this morning, and further on in the day after feeling confident that the girls would be okay you learned exactly how your sister chose to follow your advice to protect her friend without a second thought.

It was told to you second hand, and as you glance over at your baby sister you have a strange swell of pride and worry as she stares dubiously at a crunchy corn biscuit from within the depths of her layered parfait, by your friend and spymaster Saori. That willowy girl practically climbing over the diminutive Sasha in the booth across the through way from you to get a better look and listen about how this is about to go down has continued to pay dividends.

Hisako looks up at the younger girl with no small amount of scrutiny. Momentarily her free hand rubs at her neck where the diadem turned choker containing the stone spirit of her mentor, your father’s long dead retainer Kunzite, resides.

The delinquent turned collegiate art student smiles, though it isn’t quite the same manic smile she gave you the night the two of you had a ridiculously fun street fight in an alleyway. The fight where you brought one of the fragmented personas you created from past trauma home. The fight where your post conflict adrenaline drop from action was to seek comfort and absolution in the embrace of an old love you had once spurned but still had feelings for.

Internally you sigh at just how busy the past handful of days have been in every conceivable direction. The time you’ve spent working on magic clothes for your Spymaster and Man at Arms has been entirely relaxing by comparison.

“I get it kid,” she offers with a friendly but rough intonation, in grammatical forms you’re used to hearing from more roughly appointed people, “You gotta make sure the new girl is up to some snuff or standard...or you see something worth the challenge?”

Kanari lowers her arm and glances over to you for a lingering second and then back at Hisako.

“You’re here because of her judgement,” the sometimes Sailor Jupiter gestures to where you sit as you carefully blot your lips for remnants of your crepe, “And that’s more than good enough for me. I see the challenge,”
>>
>>4373689

Kanari-chan just said something openly praiseworthy of you? This gives you pause and momentary concern. And not just to you, your baby sister choked on a bite of her parfait!

Before you go to say something in response you realize that Kanari’s zeroed in on Hisako with the entirety of her attention. Hisako returns the respectful glare, her smile widening. Not as wide as you’ve seen it and again without that particular manic look in her eye.

Hisako puts her arm up on the table.

For the moment you abdicate your seat and stand there to watch.

Kanari sits down across from the older girl, and they clasp hands.

“Alright! Let’s start in three…” Keiko cheers out after disengaging herself from the suitably calmed but now situationally dubious Midori.

“Two!” Saori shouts out energetically as your large party has started to garner the attention of a few other diners and arcade goers, whilst Sasha tries to disentangle himself from her using him as a purchase to balance herself on as he too seems rather interested in these events.

“ONE!” Venus-chan cheers as she skips into the cafe with Diana-chan before she looks around with a moment of confusion, “What are we counting down?”

Hisako’s arm visibly tenses, the older girl for her heavy metal craftwork and training carries a decided definition and cut made all the more visible by the contest at hand. Kanari’s arm tenses, though she has put in significant hard work, by dint of her youth and general build she doesn’t have the same immediately imposing musculature of your Knight. Though from what you’ve seen of her in the thick of combat, Kanari is all about function over form and is still coming into her strength.

Yet in terms of this contest, there is fire as both girls lean into it, though both seem to lose their stability against some drink condensation on the table, there is a decided and final slam...and your newest Knight is wide eyed in disbelief.

“You’re really strong!” Kanari declares with a smile, “Want to go again?”

And they do. Even with the table dried off Kanari wins more than she loses at this as it draws the attention of the other girls in. Rin pops her head up from where she sits in her booth alongside Aiha, though there is a decided unnerved scrutiny to the girl. And your sister more raucously cheering Kanari on with the school yard nickname she gave the girl when she was younger, Zeus.

That actually puts you at ease, as your sister seems to be acting more herself.

During the proceedings you catch Aiha looking over to you briefly and then back at the continuing contests, and remember you probably need to check in with her on how she’s dealing with your earlier revelation to the Sailor Senshi regarding your identity as the mysterious supportive hero, Eclipse.

Amid these cheers you catch sight of a familiar pair of figures entering the Game Center Crowne. Your newly appointed substitute teacher, Kinzoku-sensei, who just so happens to be the cover identity of the otherworldly Sailor Guardian whose introduction to your group was a matter taking center stage at today’s meeting, and a man with long white hair and a white business suit with a festively appointed yellow tie with assorted crescent moon themes brocaded into it like gold.

Artemis, at least in his human form, Minako Aino’s Guardian Cat one of the long time advisors and wranglers of this current assemblage of Sailor Senshi and Knights of a lost kingdom, and as you learned a short while ago the owner and proprietor of this fine establishment.

“Papa!” the small girl, Diana-chan, with darkening purple grey hair cheers out as she runs up and latches onto his leg, arms and legs wrapped full around it.

“I see this is a popular local hangout then,” Kinzoku-sensei observes before her sights settle on you with a smile, “For how much of my homeroom class seems to be here,”

“I’m glad everyone’s here. Surprised you aren’t all in the Karaoke room already,” sighs the cat turned man.

“Ehehe, sorry Artemis-san,” your little sister wrings at her pigtails with a nervous smile, “We got caught up in getting caught up!”

“It’s alright,” he tries to diffuse your little sister’s anxious tick as he moves toward the back and flags down an employee you’ve been seeing at the Arcade and cafe more frequently, “Yeon, is there a karaoke room free?”

“Yes Mr. Artemis, room three is available for you and your party,” comments the young man as he opens the curtain to the Karaoke entrance hallway at the back of the arcade.

As your large party files into the back, you can’t help but notice there is an amused sense of relief from many of the other patrons and scant employees. Your party was getting a bit rowdy.

Entering into the secret underground room accessible by a portal opened by your Crowne Passes when used on the Karaoke room doors, your party assembles in the Sailor Guardian Base and Karaoke lounge beneath the Crowne Arcade.

Already waiting within is the green haired Setsuna Meioh, Outer Sailor Guardian of Pluto from your mother’s generation of Sailor Senshi, as she stands at the control console and observes some of the video feeds coming from your ongoing stake out of a park near the prestigious Infinity Academy.

She greets your assembly with a warm but distant smile, still walking with the aid of a cane.

You step back and gesture toward Artemis to take center stage on the small raised Karaoke platform. The white clad and white haired man steps forward and up, with some difficulty as one leg is still clung to by the firmly adhered Diana-chan.

While he begins conducting introductions of the meeting and asking if there is any pressing old business to go over before full introductions are made regarding new business, your Knight Marshal Midori Mori speaks up and steps forward to discuss the impending actions of your approach for the four rogue Shadows.

While the two are discussing setup and Artemis begins pulling up specific recordings that your Knight requests from their surveillance routed through this networked bank you glance about the room. Starting with an origin point realized from the Tokyo Tower Incident based on some of their discussions before they each found their way into host bodies belonging to a selection of Infinity Academy students, your former middle school classmate Momoko Nakajima among them. Photos and names spread across the monitor, even for the familiar faces you’ve seen in the two you directly encountered you instead let eyes settle for different reasons on Auntie Setsuna, Aiha, and your little sister.

While Midori continues recapping the situation with the four shadows, you open your mind and open a radio telepathic channel to Aiha as you position yourself closer to the girl amid the room’s standing space.

-Can we talk, Aiha-chan?- you offer the younger girl, the buzzing of your communication draws the momentary notice of your usually imperceptive sister, -I’ve been meaning to for a few days, but...I’m sorry I’ve been running myself ragged. At least until Midori-chan forced me to let her and the others take on more of the burden,-

Koyomi glances first at you, and then over to Aiha as the girl meets your eyes. Your younger sister tries and fails to hide herself smiling broadly and shooting Aiha a very specific gesture. Though she manages to hide herself from your line of sight by stepping behind Kanari, you can clearly see her in the mirror of one of the assorted Sailor Senshi vanities along the wall giving her Mercury a double thumbs up.

Mercury looks back over to your sister and then back to you after taking a breath to focus.

-Yes we can talk, Mikage,- the younger Mercury intones carefully, -I had been thinking about coming to you to press an issue, but after a chat about it with Koyomi I felt it better to let you come to me when you were ready,-

No doubt in your mind this is also informed by her argument that time with your now subsumed persona.

“And earlier today ahead of the meeting I received the following report from Zoisite Knight in the field. Artemis-san please roll back camera 16 by approximately 1 hour,” Midori continues on stage as she shows off what your recognize in a passing glance as humans enhanced by the Psionic Power drugs the enemy has been producing which were at the cause of your first meeting with Aiha-chan as Eclipse.

I have mixed feelings. We didn't try to lead on anyone, mysterious rescuers with roses are naturally attractive, particularly when they are us. I don't think we need to apologize for that beyond our existing explaination for being secretive. But if we made her comfortable, I'd feel bad.
Though I suspect "uncomfortable" isn't the issue. We may have helped realize the launch a military submersible of German manufacture..

It came about after I remembered that quote and realized it fit with our shadow powers. I could see Mikage starting by getting Shakespearean on Aiha and then following up with “But seriously, what issue did you want to press?”

Yeah, feels kinda like Daphne throwing in two cents.

In all honesty, knowing Art, he'd love that Shakespearean stuff.

True. I am still mad that we didn't make peace with Daphne in Paris. That would have been the perfect place to do it.

Also, I found this when looking up a video for Koyomi's less than stellar stealth roll: https://youtu.be/MTfmtudX5b4

-What issue did you want to press, Aiha-chan?- you question her over your mental connection amid her pause.

Midori goes over a feed of information from Koito’s observations and says the timing is bad, as the move was being made tonight is to reach out to these rogue elements of the enemies plan and execute operations, either with or without their assistance make the enemy believe that the Red Eyed Beast made good on her entrance exam to begin a direct infiltration of the enemies forces.

Kinzoku-sensei looks concerned for a moment before sparing you a glance and then looking back to your Knight Marshal’s presentation.

There is a resolved heaviness in Aiha’s mind.

-It was about your deceptions. It was about the way I initially felt about them upon your revelation to us. A mix of upset and appreciation that you finally told us the truth but had concealed so much at the same time...and concern for how you’ve thrown yourself back into this after everything we heard at the briefing. After everything Kanari-chan explained to us from the chat that began her spat against you. After what Koyomi told me about your motivations and attempts to deal with everything you’ve shouldered,-

She rolls her shoulders to steady herself. Midori continues on with a gesture to Kairi-chan about her role as primary negotiator since these four still hold some kind of direct embedded grudge against you.

-It was? You’re using a past tense there Aiha,” you think with some worry.

-I was upset with you. I felt betrayed, and I think I avoided you a bit after all of that. Though you’ve done so much for us, and I could feel your anguish that night in the park after Kalunite...I figured you wanted to talk to me about it when you stopped Rin and I in the arcade, but she had convinced me that matters concerning the recruitment of your fourth Knight would need to take precedence. And regarding Koyomi…-

She takes a deep breath, and you feel a brief moment of her pain that night as well regarding her elation at what you managed. There is a wavering meandering to her thoughts, a struggle to express herself.

-You’ve broken through your pain time and time again to help us. To save us, but it’s cost you and it has been a process. I know that. I see that. I understand that. You know full well what struggles and confusions I’ve gone through because of you, but that I’m safe and alive to have had those... that is entirely on you. You saved me and then you helped me find my own strength to do something for this world, and to be myself,- as stone faced as she’s being, parsing out the information Midori rattles off at the front in the back of her mind while she speaks with you, you can feel a well of emotion behind her walls.
>>
>>4373970

-If these shadows have offended, think but this and all is mended,- it isn’t quite you who has this thought toward the girl, but the voice of your fabulously francophile fragment, and Aiha is acutely aware of it as she gauges you in return before tightening her lips and shaking her head.

Rin is standing next to her, and grabs her hand. Aiha’s all over the place right now, tumultuous like her own feelings. A few errant items on the nearby vanities all twitch simultaneously away from her as does the clothing of everyone immediately around her, slightly.

-I appreciate that you’re listening to me about this, Mikage. But I would quite rather if you, any part of you, wouldn’t try to be cute about his and just speak plainly,- there’s a frustrated expression on her face for a moment that melts into a pained smile, -Then again, sometimes I wish I could be just like you. Let every restraint go and let everything fly. Absolutely revel in these powers and just go do exactly what I think needs to be done with little doubt...but I can’t. I know there is something in me that feels like it’s waiting to explode. It’s frustrating, hanging on to the edge of my power and struggling to not let it out to come what may because I’m not sure I trust myself with whatever is waiting just beneath me,-

“To that end the plan will be to insert Nephrite Knight at one of these public utility access points within two blocks from the park but not inside of the theater where these people are searching. Zoisite Knight has been doing his best to interfere with those of them with more prescient abilities from locating the utility entrypoint. Once she is underway it is imperative that no Senshi or Knights engage these foes directly on the scene in the park. Optimally, since we can use our magics without a transformed state we’ll assist Zoisite Knight’s interference procedures. Potentially, we can have the Red Eyed Beast herself show up and intimidate them off of her hunting ground. Either option is simply to buy Nephrite Knight time and make preparations to lead the four to the Tomoe Institute Van located here that has been warded against divination,”

-I trust you, Mikage. I trust you and I know Eclipse was never about betraying our trust. I need you to understand I know and accept that...and I want to do what I can to help you mend your continuing issues and schisms if you’d trust me and be willing to let me in to do so,- she says simply even if she’s holding some finer detail of her meaning back, -Because I want to prove to you that you can rely on me just as much as I’ve relied on you whether I knew it or not,-

>Write in because fuck me I’m not sure how to even parse options to react to Aiha’s feelings here besides the barest superficial ways.
>>
>>4373972
> Aiha... I am sorry if my actions did hurt you. Eclipse may not have been as involved as the others, I wasn't lying when I said he wasn't another personality in my head, but he was definitely a mask I used perhaps a little selfishly to protect myself. I honestly wasn't ready to admit to myself I could go back to this life.

> If you feel I have been flippant, perhaps I have been. I think it's a way I deal with things so I don't have it all weighing on me. The fact that you can't let go like I can isn't a problem. Sometimes I could probably use your restraint.

> I know I have not been the best at accepting help. It's why my knights put me on a bit of an administrative leave this week. So, while I will gladly accept your help as a friend Aiha, just know you do not need to prove anything to me. While that holds true for all of you in my sister's court, she included, it is especially true for you.

-Daphne wasn’t trying to be cute,- you feel a little scolded by the reliably more serious girl as you try to explain yourself in this moment before backtracking into everything else you feel you need to say to her right now, -I’m my father’s daughter, she...I...we’re always going to try to flourish things dramatically. And they way mom tells it he was a hell of a ham back in the day,-

You’re quite honestly feeling a little apprehensive and overwhelmed at the moment. Near to tears overwhelmed. You start moving through the room to stand next to Aiha, and catch a glimpse of Midori on the platform noticing you and perhaps the slight wateriness of your eyes. She pauses, but notices the majority of the room has her and then does her level best to keep that attention perhaps recognizing the cathartic and emotional moment between you and the younger Sailor Guardian.

“Until we arrive Zoisite Knight will continue monitoring the scene,” Midori punches a few commands on the console as a currently black window opens on the screen behind her across one side, “In the event of an emergency he’ll be routed to all of our communication devices and this main screen. When operations begin everything will be routed through this system. We request the Senshi remain here on standby during the mission to be dispatched to our location only in the event of an absolute emergency; such as the fielding of an unexpected enemy Shadow,”

-...I’m sorry for snapping about you at that. I’m not overly fond of Shakespear,- Aiha explains but doesn’t go into any particular cause or reference for her own seeming disdain.

“And using the base as the coordination point; Artemis-san will be heading operations here with callsigns Artemis, Spymaster, and Base Manager,” Midori closes her small notebook, “Any questions?”

-Aiha...give me a moment to parse this because there is a lot I want to say to you,- you think softly to the younger girl before finding your resolve, -You have nothing to prove. I know the struggle of thinking you have to prove yourself more than most, and it only brought me grief. If I didn't think you couldn't do it, I would have just told you not to take this path instead of warning you about the dangers if you chose it,-

You take up Aiha’s hand, in a reassuring manner. Maybe a little for yourself as much as for her. Again you catch sight of Koyomi practically vibrating in some excitement, you can feel projected and directed thoughts rolling off of her about friends making up and emotional honesty. She hasn’t heard anything you’re saying to one another, but she can barely contain herself. Aiha has noticed too and smiles at her antics and your admission.

-Mikage...your words as Eclipse that morning meant a great deal to me,- she says in response, -And that you affirmed it was my choice. I appreciated hearing that, being given that,-

“Who’s Base Manager?” Kanari questions with some confusion, “Everyone here already has a callsign,”

-And, more than that, Aiha I am sorry if my actions did hurt you. Eclipse may not have been as involved as the others,- you pause and laugh at yourself a moment and tighten your hold on her hand just a moment, -I wasn't lying when I said Eclipse wasn't another personality in my head, but it was definitely a mask I used. Perhaps I used it a little selfishly to protect myself, when I honestly wasn't ready to admit to myself I could go back to this life, but...I couldn't sit idle once you and then the others were in danger. I wanted to protect all of you from the pain I had felt while trying to hide from that pain myself,-

She nods firmly at that. Her own eyes start to glisten as she tries to tighten her expression. Rin holds her other hand with both of her hands now and grants the both of you a small hopeful smile.

“That would be me,” a voice calls from the back of the room as the circle of light opens up to reveal the entrance hall, slightly lost having not been carefully paying attention to things

“Wait, what?” you and your younger sister say simultaneously as you whip to reveal the unexpected figure of the Crowne’s multipurpose employee walking down the access stairs wearing a spiffy new apron reading ‘Manager: Yeon-Sek’.

“After Yeon stumbled into my planned reveal party for this space by Koyomi and the rest of the Senshi, he’s been invaluable to my ability to conduct operations when-” Artemis begins explaining as the college age boy steps to the side of the stairs and gives an awkward nod and wave at his being mentioned, only to suddenly surge and be momentarily enveloped in smoke to appear as his smaller feline form on top of the control console, leaving Diana clutching air around where his leg had been and falling the few inches between his no longer present shoes and the floor of the platform, “-I don’t have opposable thumbs,”

“Hi everyone,” he smiles again and sucks air in past his teeth, “Yeah...okay this is a little awkward of a reveal,”

“You’re not surprised, you knew! When did you know!” Koyomi is shocked and pointing at Yeon incredulously, “Wait...the Crowne Passes!? Sasha did you know then too!?”

-...anyway, I’m also sorry about so much,- you ignore the building exchange beginning as your Master at Arms shouts back at your sister about not knowing shit until Tokyo Tower and that she, clarified as Two Scoops, needs to stop leveling baseless accusations at him just because he was there the same day the whole Karaoke pass fiasco happened, -And if you feel I’ve been flippant, perhaps I have been. I think it's a way I deal with things so I don't have it all weighing on me. The fact that you can't let go like I can isn't a problem. Sometimes I could probably use your restraint.-

Koyomi’s attention from the two of you are entirely diverted, it would seem. Rin’s too for the moment as the shenanigan continues to unfold and it slowly comes out in a room wide conversation that Keiko had known about Yeon being Artemis’s helper shortly after the tower during some fine tuning of her transformation wand, which in turn is how Midori knew. And you vaguely pick up that Yeon and Hisako actually know each other from when they were both in High School, though different grades.

-I just wish I could feel as free as you do, but I’m still not sure how to uncheck myself of the things weighing me down like that,- Aiha admits with a sigh at the clamouring calamity taking the room.

-I know I have not been the best at accepting help. It's why my knights put me on a bit of an administrative leave this week,- you admit as Midori tries as fails for a moment to re-focus the group for matters at hand, -I am sorry to have caused you distress, and as a friend and ally, I would be honored to accept your help and in turn maybe you can let us help you stretch your wings so you can fly free and unburdened,-

The blue haired telepath smiles earnestly and genuinely at that, it makes you proud of her for how far she’s come in everything.

-I think I’d like that, Mikage-chan, to learn to be free,- she says but then become a bit guarded, -Though you’ll excuse me if I’m apprehensive about cutting loose. I’ll be much more comfortable helping you put things together manually first,-

-Alright,- you smile.

“Alright everyone, rein it in!” Artemis says while pressing a button on the console that sounds a too loud air horn, “Thank you Jadeite Knight, we’ll be able to begin operations shortly after the rest of this meeting is finished. I now cede the floor to our guest from out of town,”

“Good evening everyone. Many of you know me as Kinzoku-sensei but please allow me to show you my real identity,” your substitute teacher bows and holds out a small tambourine with a butterfly motif and a symbol you’re entirely unfamiliar with, “Papillon Power, MAKE UP!”

As the scintillating light show sounds, you feel your current conversation with Aiha come to it’s natural close. You’d been considering other conversations you wanted to have and you’ve already heard things from Sailor Papillon already…

Glancing about the room you realize two things, you’re not entirely settled on the Crowne Arcade’s foremost regular attendant suddenly being part of proceedings. At least, not without your vetting and investigation first. The second is that you haven’t really spoken to Auntie Setsuna since you snuck into the hospital to see her…

Sparing another glance at your younger sister, as she eyes your Master of Arms with some volume of suspicion amid Kinzoku-sensei’s transformation and explanation, you consider that any words you need to have with her need to be at length and in private.

You settle for now to satiate your curiosity regarding Yeon-sek.

-So, newly appointed manager, how are you dealing with all the weirdness?- you think across the room as you drift away from Aiha and Rin on a mission, staring at the older boy.

Aiha likely immediately notices your continued use of telepathy, the same as you hear the faint buzz over her newly begun conversation with Rin. Yeon has a moment of confusion on his features before here locks in and returns your stare, though nowhere near as piercing or probing.

Hmmm, maybe you’re coming at this too strongly. You want to establish a rapport with the boy if Artemis is trusting him with mission control duties.

-Uh, hello Chiba-san. I’m doing alright with...most of the weirdness,- he sighs awkwardly across the telepathic connection, -This is only my second experience with telepathy. I’m sorry if I’m not used to it,-

-What aren’t you doing alright with?- you ask curiously as Sailor Papillon introduces herself and explains where she is from, both her homeworld and the collective force of the Shining Galactica.

-Just, it’s more related to my normal duties after what happened when my coworker turned into a monster,- he crosses his arms and nods firmly to himself, -and getting encased in knockout whipped cream,-

-I saw that,- you shake your head and then develop a smile.

You’ve been a patron of this place for a while, among your many forms and guises. Maybe, if a bit teasingly, you can have a little fun with the boy now...though you notice your spymaster has flattened herself near the back wall near him. No...she was on the other side of the room earlier. She’s slowly, incredibly slowly, making her way toward him with a nervous but dedicated look on her face. Sailor Papillon explains her mission and her initial findings since arriving planetside, and that so far there has been an abundance of concentrations of Chaos loose in the world.

-Say, how surprised were you when you learned one of the cute ganguro girls who frequented your shop was actually me?- you think at him with a bit of Miki’s remembered flare as you subtly but pointedly strike a pose in his direction with a wink before turning to face the front of events with everyone else.

A beat passes with no response. Sailor Papillon talks about her biggest lead since arriving in the aftermath of the fight against the Emerald Dragon and Kalunite was discovering a vessel of Chaos at the site of one of the other monster attacks, and starting her cover as a teacher to investigate them. She gestures to you.

-Oh...I didn’t actually know that. I’m guessing you’re one of the girls in the fashion circle with Mori-san,- he says incredibly diplomatically and you feel momentarily deflated as a larger spotlight is on you.

“Uh, yes. Though I still have some of the changes left on me from exposure to the Enemy’s monster making methods I was able to convince Papillon-san that I wasn’t a monster,” you wave off as for a moment the eyes in the room are upon you.

“Oh. I’m sorry if that was unclear. Though these Shadow entities your enemy has been turning humans into are composed of concentrations of Chaos energy, a vessel of Chaos is an entirely different matter. A vessel is a being or person by transformation or design who is primed to be possessed by Chaos or a lesser entity of Chaos,” Sailor Papillon says with a smile, “Much like my Lady Galaxia was when she tried to shoulder the greatest burden by taking all of Chaos into herself,”

Wait. What?

“I was quite aware you weren’t a monster, though my bracelet’s ability to track them has been stymied by the higher ambient levels of Chaos energy on Earth at present,,” she offers, “I was worried at first you were a much larger threat than just a monster,”

-...are you doing okay with this weirdness?- Yeon questions you over the still open connection, -Like, this part specifically?-

Aiha looks toward you with noticeable concern, especially given the context of your recent conversation. You very pointedly feel the tunneling worry of your vision common to your panic attacks before a series of actions snaps you back from falling into it. Kairi comes up behind you on one side and places a hand on your shoulder in support and comfort. Midori’s hand finds your other shoulder. Your younger sister Koyomi’s hand finds your own as she pushes through to be beside you in this crowd. A firm hand strikes you flat in the back between your shoulders.

“Yeah, that’s why the boss has us! To watch her and watch out for her,” Hisakot Ito declares loudly, towering above the others from behind you as she jabs a thumb toward her chest with the hand that knocked into you in support.

Sailor Papillon nods, and smiles at your assembled front in assent.

“Though I suspect there is a larger or more suffused vessel already in play, though imperfect. Why else would, as Artemis-san informed me, they try to manufacture a vessel like the one Mikage and Koyomi Chiba were able to recently purify,” as Sailor Papillon speaks Artemis pulls up photos of Queen Kalyke both in her nutrient bath and as a curious and innocent baby, “You’ve all done wonderfully holding the line so far, and I want to offer what help I can in healing those transformed as weapons and standing with you when these Chaos possessed forces make their move!”

-I’m apprehensive, I’ll admit,- you sigh, teasing done and airs put away, -Yeon, can I count on you here in operations?-

Though you aren’t looking at him, you imagine him nodding.

-If my emergency care lab course was an indicator,- you get the remembered impression of Yeon comforting a wounded dog, -I think I can handle myself in a crisis. You can count on me,-

“Yeon-san,” Saori Umeki all but stage whispers as she has slunk perhaps uncomfortably close to the former arcade attendant, “How’s Kuro doing? How’re you? I’m a magical spy mistress now, isn’t that crazy?”

-I’ll leave you to it then,- you close off your connection to him as you catch the concern and confusion of Saori being far deeper inside his personal space than he had been aware of and look over to Auntie Setsuna.

She’s been quiet most of this meeting. No doubt Artemis summoned her as the remaining elder Senshi on Earth. For a moment you wonder why Tomoe-sensei isn’t here...probably something to do with the academy.

-Auntie Setsuna,- you question while establishing a psionic link with the timeless woman, only to feel like you’re hitting a wall before she lets you pass.

-Yes Mikage, is everything alright?- the green haired woman wonders aloud as she turns to look away from the platform for the first time since the meeting began.

-I just wanted to see how you’re doing,- you explain, whilst feeling a pull of kinship to the older woman you imagine in part to be because of her long connection to your big sister, -we don’t see very much of you,-

Setsuna sighs and briefly looks away.

Awkward words are actually whispered somewhere behind you, perhaps in admonishment of Saori’s approach to Yeon-sek but you aren’t quite paying attention.

-I’m well. To my surprise I still have a bit of a limp from my earlier experiences, but I have comfortable living arrangements in the city to help with my recovery,- she explains, though you can read virtually nothing from her she doesn’t want to express.

You can’t decide if it's the result of a spell or her natural temperament as the Guardian of Time. Briefly you think back to the other Pluto you spoke to, her counterpart from your older sister’s reality. Was that Setsuna once a part of your Setsuna’s assumed timeline? Did the schism of diverting your sister’s future split Setsuna in a way she was aware of? These metaphysical questions of time concern you as you glance down at the key hanging alongside the broach containing the silver crystal.

-So you’re having trouble healing despite my eating the cyst?- you question uncertainty of what that even means considering the power of recovery afforded those with a true and awakened starseed.

She seems to pick up on that. Sailor Papillon bows asking those assembled to please take care of her and she’ll answer any questions you have about the Shining Galactica.

Aiha for some reason seems noticeably distracted, casting her eyes to a side of the room.

-I’ve spoken with Hotaru about it, and we’ve run some tests in her laboratory,- she begins to explain to try and balm your concern on her behalf, -We reason that my flight from the Gates of Time while I was still invested in their use may be the cause. My Starseed may be confused and is sending some of it’s passive energies there as opposed to my passive healing,-

You nod as you say this, and it seems entirely reasonable. However the universe has a particular sense of humor, comedy being all in the timing even when it is one of errors.

Aiha braces and tries to shout a warning as her hands find Rin’s shoulders when it hits. Rolling across you like a wave.

For a moment the room goes quiet. Sailor Papillon mid bow seems frozen. They all do. You’ve experienced this before, and only you and Setsuna are still mobile in an unexpected moment of frozen time. Looking toward her, you remain held by your shoulders and a hand in the huddle of support provided by your Knights currently present and your baby sister.

“Auntie Setsuna! Why did you freeze time?” you call out in worry as the Guardian of Time looks entirely at a loss in the room of frozen allies and the quiet space between ticking seconds.
>>
>>4375214

“I didn’t,” she replies with wide eyes and worry, no doubt aware your mother gifted you the Key of Space-Time after your dissonance with your older sister, “Nor did my counterpart, something is entirely amiss,”

It is entirely amiss. Unlike the last time you experienced frozen time, this feels roughly hewn. Unstable.

And that instability fractures around you in piecemeal as glass from a pain. Time resumes in a disjointed fashion that everyone is acutely aware of, as though with a start. First with Aiha’s shout of warning as the fractured resumption of the expected flow of time and space follows in the wake of the prior wave.

“Uaa, what was that!” questions Diana-chan who returns to her much smaller feline size and darts beneath the console.

“Pluto!” Artemis calls out in concern, perhaps recognizing the phenomenon.

“That wasn’t me, someone or something else was able to incompletely alter the flow of time,” she responds over the din with worry, no...realization?

It’s the first time you’ve ever seen Auntie Setsuna ever seem troubled.

“I could feel something before it happened!” Aiha exclaims, “It carried a wave of panic,”

“No,” still paying attention to the older Senshi, you catch her eyes widened before she screws them shut tight before methodically taking up her phone with barely held frenetic energy.

The emergency window shifts from black to full color as Koito Kino’s face takes up the vertical window, all your communication compacts devices synced to the system chime.

“We have a situation!” your Zoisite Knight keeps his voice down and ducks with his phone into some shrubberies as the silhouettes of ill suited and ill intended figures rush by, “Camera 9, not even a minute ago has the wide shot. I’m trying to queue up the closer angle from camera 20,”

“Yeon, Saori, look alive and man the console!” the white cat shouts out as your Spymaster and the Crowne Arcade Manager push through the course of the crowd to either side of the cat and get immediately to work.

A wide shot of one of the recognizable thugs looms over a hoodie clad figure in the dying light of the day.

“Hmmm...you’re not what I’m looking for,” the brute muses over the karaoke speakers, “but you’re not something normal either,”

Something flares to life on his forehead and a wave of yellow energy seems to fall toward the smaller figure when something sparks. Reddish violet light rolls off of them responsively, surprising the likely drug enhanced villain and bites back against his haze. As he shields himself with raised arms the temporal distortion rolls off of the hoodie clad figure who you think is a girl toward the camera, and the figure is gone in the moment without time when it resumes.

Setsuna clasps a hand to her mouth and seems momentarily unsteady. In a blink she’s found her inner reserve of steel and begins typing something into her phone.

“Found it!” Koito says and presses into the screen he’s looking into, a still frame of the figure from the other side as she’s being grabbed.

She isn’t one of the four shadows you were looking for, she’s perhaps Koyomi’s age if a little slight of build. Beneath her hood she has violet eyes, green hair, and familiar but not exact features.

There are a chorus of confused voices. Your Knights look to you for leadership. Koyomi strides forward to watch the screen and then turns her attention toward Auntie Setsuna. Koito begins advancing the frames slowly as sigil takes shape above the girl’s forehead. A symbol used in Astrology and Alchemy to represent a planet of the solar system, remembered from ancient times and showing up across the gulf of cultures over centuries.

The symbol of Pluto.

There is a stillness to the room, but not from frozen time.

Pretty big party, should be fine. But we don't want to go too hard into the area, per the plan Midori was laying out for contacting the shadows.
Gotta act now before more Enemy swarm the area for both things that need doing.

It might not be discourse, but I had an idea. If we get a chance to talk to Ranko and she brings up Pluto not being a planet, we should tell her that if the scientists of Earth can decide that Pluto isn’t a planet then as the princess of Earth we decree that it is. Maybe pull out the Endymion outfit for it if we’re not in public.
>>
>>4375349
Actually, apparently something you can see in the original anime is that Pluto actually used to be much bigger until Metallia attacked the solar system. So, it legitimately was a planet back in the day during Silver Millennium.

Sounds good, we can point out the asteroid senshi as well. It's not the size of your planet, it is how you use it.

Another beat passes and you stride out from where you were held and balmed amid an uncertain revelation by your Knights and your sister. Your revelation isn’t at the top of the order now. Something unexpected has happened, everything has been thrown from what had been planned but that’s where you thrive.

And the plan of your Knight Marshal isn’t upended yet. It just needs your backing. You are the daughter of Serenity and Endymion, you need to wrest order from crisis.

You need to lead.

“Zoisite Knight can you get a bead on and check on the girl?” she disappeared amid the time freeze, she couldn’t have gotten terribly far for how long time was frozen.

“I wasn’t able to see where she went when things resumed,” he curses and seems to check outside of his hiding spot before giving a sharp nod, “I’ll try to get a vantage point and keep communications open,”

Alright. Turning to look across the room you seem to command everyone’s attention. Beside you Artemis, Yeon, and Saori are on standby to action. Sailor Papillon watches you with an appraising and calculating look. Setsuna continues to type, pausing in worry as you speak.

"I think we need to start off our planned operation early. What’s happened is going to stir up the enemy forces for certain, and probably move the escape time table of the four shadows as well,” you offer and reason before the console, “Let's proceed more or less as planned; Kunzite Knight and Jadeite Knight join Zoisite Knight in running interference, but do not be afraid to get more aggressive in distracting the thugs however you see fit,”

“Hmmm…” Midori hums to herself a moment before glancing at your on standby Master of Arms, “Sasha, I have an idea if you want to join up for a street fight,”

“Do you even have to ask?” the small pugilist smiles and rolls his shoulder.

“Nephrite Knight, you need to sway those girls, if anyone can do it I know it's you. We'll borrow two senshi, along with me as Eclipse, to look for the girl. Sailor Mercury you sensed her panic, we should be able to track her together. Sailor Pluto, as Guardian of the Gates of Time this is your area of expertise, if you are up for it,” you declare as the regalia of Eclipse takes you, “Any ideas what this might be about, more time shenanigans?"

You can ask Setsuna for more specific answers in all this later. The guardian of time composes herself. Kairi-chan nods firmly in resolve.

“She’s coming into a power that needs control and direction. The first activation was fragmented, but going forward she may activate it again without meaning to in ways that won’t be immediately noticed by anyone not touched by the magic of the Gates,” she looks down at her phone one last time, “I have much to explain, to everyone, but before I do that I owe her every explanation first,”

“Request from Paranormal Incident Task Force Command regarding the Temporal Event,” Artemis grouses, “I’m giving them a standby response that we’re investigating,”

“Mikage-nee,” Koyomi watches you from amid the crowd, with some measure of pride and attention.

Kanari nods firmly besides her, first to her friend and then up to you with a smile. Aiha resolves herself and draws out her transformation wand. Venus-chan pouts about having to sit sideline for a mission until Rin places a hand on her head and says they can help with the monitors and get ready to receive a new friend.

“Alright then, since time is of the essence we’ll field test the local deployment system!” the white cat on top of the console cackles to himself and flips open a covered button.

“Deployment what?” you question as Artemis paws the button and a klaxon sounds warning to Stand By for local Teleport, “WHY DIDN’T WE KNOW WE HAD THIS!”

“I WAS GOING TO TELL YOU AT THE END OF THE MEETING!” the Mau cries back over the crashing din.

“CAN WE DO THIS IN TWO WAVES, WE NEED TO PREP SOMETHING?” Midori calls out to which the cat assents.

There is a sensation of weightlessness followed by a flash of light. As it clears to your perception you find yourself, Aiha Mizuno, and Setsuna Meioh standing alone on a rooftop overlooking the park where this whole matter started. If the momentary freeze had thrown the world into chaos, the push of the city has overcome it and beyond a traffic jam forced itself to move on.

Your cape flutters in the breeze. Setsuna and Aiha remain yet untransformed.

Taking out your phone you open Lurk and get off of your personal curated feed and begin scouring through the global feed of the social media application.

“I’m going to check social media to see if we can find any kind of tagged GPS posts,” you offer a moment and turn to Auntie Setsuna, “You were trying to reach someone by phone earlier, any luck?”

“No...its going to voicemail,” she explains with an upset tone, “It’s ringing first and I’m not getting any texts back either,”

You nod firmly and narrow some search parameters; filtering for this geographic area and filtering for real time post order. This is a point of data as you confirm the epicenter with what you know of your shadow surveillance cameras...but nothing else yet about a girl or someone moving. Though a familiar screen name shows up in the feed, with multiple...simultaneous posts?

@Spookywon, a local blogger about mythology and urban intrigue. A very truth is out there kind of person who you move in the same online circles as @RedEyedBeast, someone you’ve turned to before for concerns of your vampirism and other matters. You weren’t looking for this...but you found it anyway.

They recount that so much had just happened, that they were doing research for a blog post about the rumored Monster Muggers of Tokyo and stumbled into the epicenter of something big. Bigger than they ever expected and to expect more details once they get to the bottom of it. They are otherwise sparse on those details at the moment...but the GPS tags for the posts are all over the area, meandering back toward the Infinity Academy train station. Though that is still an area that needs to be narrowed down.

“Aiha-chan, do you still feel her worry and panic?” you ask as you slide your phone closed and begin leading toward the station.

“Distantly, but indistinct,” she explains after a moment of focus.

“Okay...we’re heading this way. It’s a hunch but I want to see if we can mix your empathy with my psychometry to narrow the field,” you explain and leap off the roof to ground level nearby, doffing your regalia for this run into a more populated area.

They join you quickly, even untransformed, and the three of you break out in a run where you need to go. Offering your hand to Aiha, you establish a telepathic link and try to clear your mind, offering her the same instruction.

-I need you to stop actively thinking and just feel,- you explain, -Feel me, feel the information and the map of the city I’m building in my head. Think of it a bit like Rin’s dowsing, and focus on that distant panic...or whatever that mind is feeling now and just reach for it. Don’t think feel,-

-I’m having trouble,- she admits over your connection, -I’m hitting the same wall I usually do Mikage,-

Setsuna has trouble keeping pace with the two of you, struggling through pain as she doesn’t use her cane to run.

-Remember what we talked about earlier,- you offer the girl, -If you’re hitting a wall, do you want me to try and help you fly free?-

Aiha is silent for a moment. Then resolved.

-Yes,- she’s scared but she wants to know what lies beyond.

She wants to know what she is capable of, and in this moment of crisis she’s willing to try.

In her mind you imagine the wall she struggles against. Beyond it is the fury of when she mimicked the power of lightning wielding thug you helped her and Koyomi take down. The power that she wielded unsuccessfully in the fight you missed on the surface at Zodiac Academy. The quiet moments when she gets riled up and everything rattles around her. When she is on the edge of being able to hold herself in check. In this moment the two of you connect your powers at a basic level, and you feel her telepathic impression shaping around the powers you carry reflexively.

>Aiha Mizuno uses Psychic Mimicry, passively, to temporarily copy your psychic spell list

-Break the wall, Aiha-chan,- you tell you and squeeze her hand mid run, while in your minds you stand beside her, -And let me help you. You’re not alone,-

She nods firmly and screws her eyes shut. Slowly, bricks begin to fall away with the faintest shared force of effort, before quickening in pace.

There are sparks of arc light as you run. Detritus in the street rattles that you can see and that which you don’t. Aiha’s hair begins to stand on end.

The bricks are flying past your head now and she raises both her hands inside this mindscape. A massive crack drops down the middle of the wall and she screams.

There is a crack of force and your hand is knocked out of Aiha’s as the girl stops dead in her tracks; clothes still flutter on her person from an unseen force rippling around her.

“Aiha-chan!?”

Her eyes seem to glow, your telepathic link goes quiet first and then is entirely too loud. She’s laughing in your mind as a calm and serene smile spreads across her face as she stands there completely relaxed. A look of wild and pure elation in her eyes, before they glow a solid blue.

There are more arclights at the edge of where the lot of you stand.

“What is this?” Setsuna wonders aloud, having not been privy to your psychic communications.

“..elation,” she drops the smile long enough to barely whisper those words before it cracks back across her features and she speaks more loudly, “Is this what it feels like to fly?”

Like a ragdoll she crumples in on herself, though not into a loose heap but into the runners position she took when you first saw her transform into Sailor Mercury.

From loose to screwed tightly she then explodes into motion and a run. The last you caught her eyes they were no longer glowing, and her irises were pinpricks.

“This way!” she cries out taking maximum stride and for the briefest moment leaving the two of you behind.

>Aiha uses a unique application of Wild Surge

Setsuna watches her dart away, looks at her own leg, then looks at you earnestly.

“Go, GO!” pleads the older woman with more emotion than you’re used to her showing, “I’ll catch up!”

Aiha, with a runner’s practiced gait and form, darts from the side street into a more crowded area. Weaving seamlessly through her surroundings. Those she doesn’t weave through see something in her expression that makes them get out of her way. With a sharp turn, kicking off a brick wall, she turns into an alleyway on approach to the translation in the shadow of the Infinity Academy.

You’re well practiced. You are able to keep up with her and the trail she’s picked up as you wonder. Is the green haired girl @Spookywon? What is her connection to Auntie Setsuna? Is Auntie Setsuna’s life cyclical and this is her? Is it her own reincarnation but filtered through her own time powers? Is she family?

There is so much you don’t know, and as Aiha leads you down a maze of passageways she rounds a corner, kicks off another wall, and grabs the handle of a fire escape mid leap to swing herself over the barrier of a dumpster to the shriek of someone hiding beside it. And from that shriek the rest of the world goes silent.

The world again freezes. It's not a wave or a fragmentation. It just is. No one aside from you or Auntie Setsuna should even notice. Aside from this girl.

As you turn the corner at a sane rate, you catch sight of Aiha and the girl before she even notices you. Aiha is suspended in mid air with an unfortunately manic look on her face. Eyes wide but hyper focused on the figure holding up her hands beneath her, her face has this passively hostile expression you don’t think she intended at this moment.

The girl who isn’t suspended, and moves freely in this moment of frozen time, seems so much smaller beneath her baggy hoodie. Her green hair, spilling loose inside the hood, frames a face that looks so much like Auntie Setsuna’s.

Interlude: Feeling Blue

-Remember what we talked about earlier,- she offers you, -If you’re hitting a wall, do you want me to try and help you fly free?-

You’re scared, but only for a moment before you find your resolve.

-Yes,- you anser firmly..

You want to know what you’re capable of, and in this decisive moment you accept Mikage Chiba’s help.

In your mind you see the metaphysical wall that stands against you. Beyond it is the fury of potential you fear in yourself. The power that comes when you grow angry or anxious and the loose things in the world shake and rattle around you. In this moment you connect your powers with Mikage at a basic level, and you feel your powers and awareness shaping in response to her impression reflexively. Guided by her psychometry you see the map of your own mind, you feel a clarity of self you haven’t before that you’ve been searching for since this journey began.

-Break the wall, Aiha-chan,- you feel the pressure and draw on her offered power and strength, -And let me help you. You’re not alone,-

Steeling yourself, you push past your imagined limitations. Bricks begin to fall away with the faintest shared force of this effort, before quickening in pace. The bricks are flying past your head now. A massive crack drops down the middle of the wall and you scream.

You stop running. You are wreathed in kinetic force, and you both perceive and understand it’s presence around you. It’s potential. How it clusters. How to let it guide you. And how to unleash it.

Words around you are distant. You see with eyes opened for what feels like the first time, and see yourself. Both in how small you’ve been and how foolish it was to doubt. How foolish it was to deny. It’s immediately intoxicating.

You brim with power and release the pressure valve in you. A psychic scream and declaration of self. You’re happy. You’re so happy. You’re happy to be you and you’ll never let yourself feel small like that about yourself in anyway again. Is it the power talking? Maybe...but you don’t much care as you bask in this…

“...elation,”

With a snap the path you need to follow becomes clear to you. From perfectly relaxed to a coiled spring you erupt in motion. As an afterthought you call back after the others and hunt. You course and run and focus in a way you didn’t realize you could. And with a kick up and leap you sail toward your quarry as she looks up with widening and panicking eyes before the world dilates.

And time stops.

Thread Resume

This girl hasn’t seen you yet, she’s too caught up in coming down from her shock at Aiha’s appearance, so you duck out of the way. No doubt Auntie Setsuna is still on her way even now. From behind the otherside of the dumpster you are ready to display your astrological sigil and expose your presence as a show of like existence and purpose to this strange girl.

Taking a deep breath you consider how to proceed. In looking at the global feed your immediate account information isn’t visible. You pull up her queue of simultaneous posts and prepare to turn the corner as her rapid and shocked breathing steadies and you hear the telltale camera shutter effect from another phone’s speakers.

“A West District Junior High Uniform?” she wonders aloud, and that you hear her voice it drips in curiosity and rising excitement, “They said no kids were abducted successfully...but with documented instances of some monster possessions making people forget they existed, so who knows. Who are you?”

Glancing around the corner you see in the space between seconds that Aiha’s brow is dotted with the flickering instance of her own Planetary sigil.

“Well, whoever you are I hope you don’t mind a selfie!” she declares more than asks as the frozen time persists, taking notice of it after standing alongside Aiha and striking a fun pose and snapping a pick with the girl’s frozen manic face, “I can crop now but until time resumes I can’t run the reverse image search,”

She continues speaking aloud to...herself. As if it’s a habit and commonality in her behavior. Taking an annoyed breath she puffs her cheeks and makes an octopus face in a staccato puffing exhalation in frustration. Kipping along with the beats a few feet away from the girl suspended in mid air.

You need to make contact. And if she’s thinking about the incident you intervened with in the West District Juuban Junior High School then you know just the face to present to her. Donning the Regalia of Eclipse in a flourish you flip onto the dumpster quiet as the frozen world around you, though cognizant of your last extended experience in frozen time. The things Setsuna’s counterpart from Usa-nee’s reality warned you about and dispatched before you.

“Are you Lurk user @Spookywon?” you question in the quiet world and draw her attention to you while holding up your now caseless phone displaying her posts, “I mean you no harm. I am Eclipse, rescuer of distressed maidens. My friend and I deduced you might need help, pray forgive her exuberance in seeking you out before the villains back in the park could,”

She turns on her heel in shock, and her sputtering dies into the end of a surprised whistle. Her eyes shoot wide as she freezes at the sight of you stepping off from atop the dumpster and onto the ground next to where Aiha hangs frozen. You imagine if you had chosen to do this in the guise of the Red Eyed Beast you would perch on top of her, but you imagine afterwards she wouldn’t find that funny. There is an impassive look to her features as the two of you stand there.

After a quiet and worrying beat where she seems to consider for a moment what to do, she raises up her phone with it’s back facing you.

She looks at you, glances askance to the screen of her phone, and then back at you in a moment of indecision.

The digital sound of the shutter snap echoes in frozen time.

“Okay, yes. That’s me. The illustrious paranormal blogger extraordinaire @Spookywon! Covering the weirdest things that cross my path and get people talking about a world people only used to dream of,” she grins widely and places both hands on her hips before pointing to you confidently, “And you’re the unoriginal derivative Hero, Eclipse, aping the classic style of the thief turned vigilante Tuxedo Mask and the looks of the short lived Moonlight Knight by providing repeat rescues of the New Sailor Senshi!”

There is a giddiness to her as time begins a slow lurch forward around you, Aiha’s features slowly contorting at the realization that there is no longer someone in front of her. You’re slightly taken aback by the sudden stream of words and ability to cope with her situation. And, maybe you’re a little insulted that someone would call you unoriginal and derivative.

You’re being your father’s daughter. It’s an homage to him for being so damn great and an acceptance of at least part of your birthright. What more do people want or expect from you?!

“I have no idea who your friend is, she really surprised me by vaulting over the trash like that. Are you here to save me specifically? Did you come to stomp those bad guy abductors in the park? Why does she and I have floaty symbols on our foreheads?” she walks toward you, past Aiha though sparing a moment to look at the flickering sigil on her forehead, “Is she one of the kids you rescued from the West District? WAIT! Are you racing the bad guys to save important people!? AM I IMPORTANT?”

She is close to you, hands held up together and bouncing on her feet. Aiha is accelerating and crossing her arms in front of her face, the rippling force of telekinetic energy warping the air in front of her as stretched and low versions of the sounds of a moving world fill the alleyway.

“I can stop time! I must be important! Am I psychic? Is that a psychic power? Wait, psychic powers, is she the chuuni girl who turned attention to the kidnapping?!” she spins and grabs Aiha’s shoulders and rights the girl just as the stretched bands of causality snap back into place and the world before turning her to face her to get a forceful but harmless blast in the face of kinetic action that blows her hood off and lets her long green hair fly while she broadly smiles the whole time with inquisitive wonder, “Are you psychic?”

There is a sudden rush of notifications chiming on your phone, from tags you follow as a number of posts by @RepostYankee go live on lurk.

“I’m Aiha,” the blue haired psychic shakily says, trying to hold her own manic energy in check, which does start to dissipate from her features, perhaps aided by her being able to read the moment more deeply than you can with her predilection to picking up surface thoughts with her empathy, “And yes I am a psychic,”

“Oh, I guess I’m being rude,” she laughs awkwardly and runs a hand through her long but a little grease shined hair, “I’m Ranko Meioh, and I guess I’m really really really really lost in all this,”

What’s Hisako up to? Is this the plan Midori came up with at the last second? Something about a rallying cry to taking back the streets from these jerk psychic drug dealers and human traffickers. Starting with the park at the heart of tonight’s missions, and she’s assembled a crew and is calling in more favors?

Huh, that’s one way of stowing the cloak and dagger intervention, you suppose. Midori is making use of Hisako’s credibility to skew things and give Kairi the time and cover she needs. Does this mean Hisako, Midori, and Sasha are just rolling up as themselves and kicking ass? You’ll read her text blitz in full shortly, for now there is the frenetic girl before you and the suddenly back to normal Aiha Mizuno being overwhelmed by this energetic girl.

“In order, Meioh-san; I am not derivative, but an inheritor acting in homage. I wasn’t trying to reinvent the wheel here,” you start perhaps a bit sorely and in a tone you find yourself surprisingly suspect, in a tone you imagine both Miki and Red Eyes would agree on before you wrest back into your current mode of presentation under this perfectly inherited mantle of heroics, “I was planning on dealing with the men in the park, but thought it best to see to your safety while my allies handle that situation. The symbols I could explain,” you pause again to remember what Auntie Setsuna said and would quite like to hear her explanations to this girl and the others, “but there is someone else who you deserve to hear from first. Yes, I have rescued Aiha in the past in my continuing work saving important people,”

She looks over to you from Aiha, as the blue haired girl lays a hand on her shoulder.

“And to that end, you’re right Meioh-san,” Aiha offers earnestly but a bit embarrassed by herself.

“Yes, yes you are important,” you explain.

Actually going through and answering her myriad blitz of questions seems to have slown Ranko down; try and parse out the information and remember the order of her questions. She looks at you cautiously. At the end of the alleyway, you catch sight of Auntie Setsuna walking into your field of vision before turning to see the three of you.

“Who do I deserve to hear from first then,” she questions with concern as Auntie Setsuna turns to walk into the alleyway still a fair distance from where the three of you wait in the shadow of the day’s dying golden light, “About the symbol?”

“You need to hear from me, Ranko,” she seems mournful in her words as the young green haired girl goes rigid in surprise, slowly turning to face the newcomer to this conversation, “You need to hear that I’m sorry, that I wanted to tell you these things when I thought you were ready, and when I thought I was. Not like this,”

“Mom?!” Ranko Meioh exclaims, settling one curiosity but raising so many others.

The time for your questions will come later. There is a resigned sadness to Auntie Setsuna’s voice, but it cracks in want for hope.
>>
>>4377790

“I know this was foolish, but I wanted you to have something I never did, even if just for a little while,” she cries to herself and grips items in each hand tightly, “A normal and free childhood,”

You and Aiha fall quiet here. Aiha glances over to you, perhaps in thought about what she knows about your trauma and this life. Perhaps her struggles with her own mother. You do not have to wonder long.

-This is incredibly familiar,- Aiha offers you with a certain solemnity, -Like a mix of the first talk my mom and I had after I awakened and the last before she had to leave the planet,-

-You had mentioned the former had gone well?- you respond over the shared telepathy.

-Yes, it did, and I think I understand why Meioh-san...why we didn’t know her daughter or why her daughter didn’t know about this,- she laments amid reason, -And that she’ll need friends when this night is done,-

“I don’t understand,” Ranko Meioh steps forward toward her mother as her mannerisms and cadence seems to change to a slower but still dense pace, “Mom, what are you talking about? Are you involved in this? Do you know what’s happening to me? Did this happen to you!?”

She crosses her arms and smiles. Thinking more to herself than speaking to you in this moment over the lingering connection.

-How did Rin-chan say it,- there is a sudden wistfulness and softness to the young Sailor Guardian’s eyes as you get the fleeting impression of a memory on a park bench, -having the best friends of the rest of our lives,-

Auntie Setsuna seems to be on uneasy footing as she tries to figure out where to start and speak again, only to be cut off by a rising suddenly tearful statement from her daughter as she regains her earlier exuberance.

“Did something happen to you? Did you grow up in a lab because of psychic time powers!? Are you on the run? Are WE on the run now!? This is why you were always so secretive! It’s just like in my YA Light Novels! Parents die in those, mom, and you’re all I’ve got! I don’t want to lose you too!” she’s openly teary eyed by the end and lances the distance between her and her mother, burying her head into her torso as she finds a chance to sob and wrap her arms around the woman’s back.

“Okay, I think she is going to get along famously with Koyomi-chan and Venus-chan,” Aiha laughs to herself a bit teary eyed before looking over to you, “I think we’re alone enough that we can introduce ourselves properly once Meioh-san can get a few words in edgewise,”

Setsuna hugs her daughter’s shoulders, strokes her hair and smiles.

“Ranko-chan, we aren’t on the run. And I wasn’t a lab experiment,” she’s still crying but she’s smiling, and you can clearly see the items in her hands.
>>
>>4377793

One holds her start patterned transformation wand, and there is a simpler one that looks more like those of the younger Sailor Senshi. She pulls a bit back from her daughter and kneels, pressing that wand into her confused hands.

You use this moment to scroll through some of Hisako’s posts to figure out what’s going on back there. It’s a fairly big public call out and threads are forming in response. Reposts are rampant, including from outside the street fighting community. Even Venus-chan reposted, and you catch sight of Flower’s handle among the discussions.

“But this may be better to show you,” she says as she rises and raises her wand, though with a gesture of her hand there is a distortion at the end of this alleyway, to bar potentially prying eyes, “Pluto Planet Power, Make Up!”

She stands there, amid the fading of scintillating color and sparkling sounds of magic. Clad in the uniform of her office and holding the Garnet Rod in her hands. The Guardian of Time balances herself on the staff and kneels again in front of her child.

“This is yours, this world I’ve lived in but at the periphery, if you want it,” Setsuna glances up to the two of you, “Like any of the successors, it is your choice to claim this birthright or not. Understand that no matter your answer I’ll teach you how to manage the power you struggle with now, for our domain of time is a dangerous one,”

Ranko is...entirely silent. Looking first to Sailor Pluto and then at the wand in her hand. You cannot see her face.

“I love you Ranko, and I will abide what you choose here,” Setsuna lays a hand on her shoulder and continues to look downcast and sorrowful, “or if you need more time to choose I understand that too. I’ll answer all the questions you have to the best of my knowledge,”

You think back to when you were given the choice. When you chose for the wrong reasons, to prove you could stand outside your sister’s shadow, in competition with someone who never saw a rivalry between you.

“Pluto Planet Power,” Ranko shoots the wand up with both hands and sets her stance wide, “MAKE UP!”
>>
>>4377796

She is consumed in a column of time and light, standing there transformed she spins on her heel and strikes a pose directed at the two of you.

“In the name of Pluto,” she declares clad in the expected colors and adorned with the same earrings of her mother, “I’m gonna go back there and kick some ass!”

You like her attitude about things, all told.

“Mercury Planet Power, Make Up!” Aiha calls out and in a shimmer of water stands clad in white and blue, “That’s certainly an option, Pluto, but…”

“Whaaat?!” Ranko says in surprise, “Aiha-san, you’re a psychic AND Sailor Mercury!?”

On a different note, wonder what kind of powers the new Sailor Pluto will have. Full time stops are something she’s managing, but Setsuna might want her to avoid that until she’s got more practice. Slowing down time on enemies could be really good.

“Your spirit is commendable,” you step forward and place a hand meant to be calming on her shoulder, “but I think a person who has had their powers for less than a minute should not be going into combat if such can be avoided. Especially considering noted less than stable circumstances,”

“Even if it makes me a bit of a hypocrite,” Sailor Mercury sighs as she references her first appearance and outing, “I’m inclined to agree with Eclipse right now,”

Setsuna’s transformed state releases, and one of her knees buckles under her. Ranko quickly catches her mother in worry as Auntie Setsuna’s wand flashes into the cane you saw her using earlier.

“Mom!” she squeaks in surprise before looking back over to the two of you, “...yeah, okay, but that park is crawling with mob enforcer looking guys with third eyes and I don’t know what else,”

“We know. Operations against them are going apace, we’re getting you back to home base first,” you stride past Aiha Mizuno, Setsuna Meioh, and the new Sailor Pluto toward the distorted mirage your auntie put up as you draw out your Sailor Compact, “Base Manager & Spymaster come in with a Status Report,”

“We have a home base?” the young Pluto asks, “Mom you have a base and you didn’t tell me?”

“It’s not my base per se,” Auntie Setsuna says, “The injury that slows me now was gained in being driven from mine,”

“This is Base Manager,” Yeon’s face flits into the compact’s mirror, “Spymaster is managing the park team’s communication lines. Nephrite Knight has been in radio silence since heading underground. Artemis has been managing the social media push, and the park team is projected a push of physical public support,”

“Alright, we’ve secured Sailor Pluto, on standby to teleport back to base,” you resolve and take a steadying breath ahead of the expected discomforts of teleportation.

“Um, it’s only a deployment system,” Yeon laughs a bit nervously, “Sorry we didn’t have time to go over that detail with everyone. There is a point to point system set up between here and, hold on I just want to check the call sign, Infinity Underground?”

Tomoe-sensei’s secret laboratory.

“Understood. How are the other Knights and my Master of Arms doing?” you query as another face pushes their way onto the monitor.

“Spymaster reporting, park line is being held. Jadeite Knight, Kunzite Knight, and the Master of Arms are laying waste with barely a spell cast!” Saori Umeki exclaims excitedly with the most ridiculously wide smile from behind her domino mask, “And the best part is we got Sasha to dress up as a middle schooler!”

“Well, he has the height for it. And it’ll help maintain the delinquent illusion my Knight Marshal’s little plot hoped to ape,” you consider.

“No,” she shakes her head and cackles in a very unfortunate way, “look I’ll show you the video later, I’m saving all of these angles for later, but we got him into a Yankee look, not just a delinquent one,”

Oh.

Oh no.

You stifle a deep and guttural laugh. You’re sad you missed this, and you aren’t sure how Sasha is doing with it.

For the current matter, there’s too much rooftop less ground to cover to reach Infinity Academy for as imminently nearby it is. And if Ranko’s awakening was that big of a pull on Auntie Setsuna that she dropped her transformation...

“Understood, inform Infinity Underground to be on Standby,” you explain simply and snap the compact shut with an, “Eclipse out,”

Turning to the others you grip the shoulder and cape of your outfit and pull, flourishing yourself in the fluttering of the cape only for it to fold away to reveal you undisguised and still in your school uniform.

“We’ll have to go Civilian and head to Infinity Academy,” you explain and flip your pigtails back out after having had them under your keffiyeh.

Aiha nods and steps forward, her transformation fading and her normal clothes returning as she walks past Ranko and Auntie Setsuna, and leaning in on Auntie's other side to help Ranko carry her.

“It’s not far, but let me help the two of you out,” she smiles at Ranko and Setsuna as the latter just now stares at Aiha, “Is something wrong?”

“Just...you were all shiny but transforming to and fro...but were you basically just naked? Was I?” Ranko questions dubiously.

Aiha blushes uncertainty.

“Eh? No, I mean not exactly,” she tries to explain, “It’s a sheen of magic, dimensionally folding one outfit for the regalia and- look this was explained to me before and I don’t entirely get it either,”

Ranko thinks a moment and adjusts to lift her mothers arm off of her shoulder.

“Just, could everyone hold on a moment,” Ranko darts back into the alley and around the corner, there is the obscured flash of her stepping out of her transformation before she returns to her aid to help out and the lot of you begin to make your way toward Infinity Academy.

>Regenerate on Setsuna? Y/N

As you make your way to Infinity Academy there is tension and wonder in the crowds of people on the street just leaving work and traveling about in the city. Many people are looking at their phones. A news helicopter sweeps past in the direction of the park. There is an argument at a salaryman bar where people from the afternoon crowd who are decidedly not from the evening glut of professional customers argue amongst themselves about proximity, the winter wolf, and drugs. One man brushes past his compatriots and flips on a pair of shades before stepping into the street toward the park in the fading light.

“So...what’s your name?” Ranko asks you as you cross the bridge onto the Infinity Academy campus.

“Mikage Chiba,” you say simply.

“And you’re, like, Moonlight Knight’s kid?” she questions based on your earlier explanation.

“Yeah. I’m the Moonlight Knight’s kid,” you laugh as you continue onward.

Coming into the building and secret elevator, Ranko is awed and surprised that you have an access card and that there is in fact a secret elevator that leads to, as she is told by her mother, a laboratory. A secret laboratory used in support of the Sailor Senshi and with connections to the Tomoe Institute. This information seems to overtly excite the young Ranko.

Professor Tomoe is waiting for you on a different floor than you’re used to exiting on.

“Welcome to the negative thirtieth floor; Housewares, Experimental Technology, Sporting Goods, and partially magical but still entirely theoretically unsound teleportation devices,” the Professor smiles broadly and adjusts his glasses and sighs, “Then again maybe I shouldn’t be overly critical of devices that functionally do everything I failed to accomplish in my career,”

“Good evening Professor,” Setsuna smiles, “I’m sorry that we’re pressed for time on pleasantries,”

“Oh, think nothing of it,” he laughs and leads the four of you to another room down a well lit white hallway, “Oh, Chiba-san, I was meaning to ask how your grandmother was doing,”

“Well, though really active. She keeps escaping,” you sigh.

“Well, that’s magical toddlers for you,” the Professor nods as though from some breadth of experience.

Ranko finds herself entirely lost in these proceedings when the Professor opens a sliding door with a handprint to reveal a circular platform with familiar astrologically arranged circuitous patterns.

“Please keep your hands and legs inside the beam at all times. Nausea is entirely common upon rematerialization,” he explains as the four of you climb the stairs onto the platform as begins typing on a control panel.

“Wait, rematerialization?” Ranko wonders aloud as your world is engulfed in light, she screams in shock.

She is still screaming as the light fades and you are again inside the Karaoke base. Your sister, Rin, Venus-chan, Kanari, and Keiko are arranged around the room in their Senshi Regalia. Kanari and Rin are putting up a banner over the door that says ‘Welcome Pluto-chan!’

Venus-chan stops her scream with a confetti popper as all the girls run up to her to welcome her.

Though, you have other concerns as you turn to the control consoles where Artemis, Saori, and Yeon continue to work diligently.
>>
>>4378158

“Confirmed JSDF Paranormal Incident Task Force personnel have been dispatched, but are still a few minutes out,” Yeon-sek explains while scouring through global feeds of social media being parsed by the base’s multi purpose magical computer system, “And a lot of people, delinquents and not, have said they’re going to the park because enough is enough,”

“Besides those showing up alongside at the park we have statements made privately toward governmental channels that a number of the old school and entrenched Yakuza groups are denouncing the upstarts spreading around the psychic drugs. Not any of the really bad ones, the ones who’ve mostly gone legit but still have that kind of history,” Saori rattles off, “Whatever move the bad guys were planning after this is going to have some soured public relations going forward,”

Midori, wearing a medical mask, comes into one of the screens, there is a splash of blood across her mask. Likely, considering it is an upward projected splash, it is not her own.

“We’re winning,” she says flatly and confidently, “Two injuries among those who came to help us out, but we’ve got things covered otherwise.

Things are going well, and as you look back over your shoulder at the group hug that has descended upon a still awed and confused Ranko Meioh you reflect on what you thought when you first arrived at the cafe earlier this afternoon.

That things are going to go well.

I feel trepidation.
We may have spooked Jewel Thief with the royal eyes on the first meet, but he's older than history and was able to capture Helios on his home turf.

It is interesting how someone that initially seemed some sort of thief-lackey initially was effectively in charge of everything while gathering fuel for his master.

Suppose we know something about trying to appear as something else as well.

Interlude: Roses still have Thorns

You run harder than a normal person can run right now, thanks in part to the cocktail of enhancements you dosed yourself with at the start of this job. It was a search mission, to acquire the location of the contractor’s lost assets and then call for the reinforcement that was intended to take them down.

It wasn’t supposed to be a straight fight, unless they engaged first and then all of you were meant to withdraw. There was no expectation that something like this would happen. That instead of the monsters you hunted there would be something else in this park hunting you. Three demonesses arrived at the head of a small army of ne'er do wells and delinquents. They had descended upon the park while you were trying to get a beat on an unexpected variable, the girl with magical potential who vanished from the grasp of one of your colleagues.

Now...now you’re faced with supposedly normal humans en masse. There are only thirty of you, and none of you were explicitly kitted out with anything flashy or powerful; just minor physical enhancements and extrasensory powers.

Those powers have allowed your flight and withdrawal to go so far so well...until you get to where the van you and your team is meant to use. You sense them before you see the van, and you see the driver, who had been given defensive pyrokinesis, splayed out on the ground before you.

Six girls, two of them nervous to be here but three radiating absolute confidence. What they wear defies all sense...like hyper stylized versions of the kind of outfits you’d expect in a flick from the eighties about girl gangs.

“Well, ya’ll finally managed to show up,” says the one in front, largest of the group and pounding her fist into her open palm.

One of the nervous ones complains.

“Did we really have to show up like this, Aki?” one sitting on the hood of the van whines, “I still have makeup tests to study for and these outfits are ridiculous,”

“Nonsense, you deserve your shot at some recompense darling. And while I made these pieces for our Yankee ruse, we never did get to wear them,” she titters in laughter with a hand raised to her cloth face mask as the larger girl starts stalking toward you and you unfurl your strike baton, “but now, why it feels like a debutante ball,”

Before the larger girl even reaches you, the small one without an ounce of fear runs out from behind her and gets inside your range, kicking your wrist hard to knock away your collapsible baton.

“Hooray! Now it’s REALLY a party!” one kips up and hauls up a...t-shirt cannon?

“It really is, Panya,” the big one finishes closing the distance and grabs you by the collar, “It really is,”

End Interlude.

Interlude: Hematite, take the field

You float, suspended within the still growing wealth of crystals. You can see your own reflections and smaller refractions moving as phantoms in the faceted planes which surround you, intersect, and overlap through your ever mounting prison.

Distantly, you can hear the reports being explained in other parts of the complex. You are aware of your subordinates debating courses of action.

Without hesitation you reach for the precipice, knowing full well what waits beyond. As your the fingers of your vessel breach the surface as though it were but water they spark and crumble. The release of energy doubtlessly catches their attention, in it’s reverb you call for Hematite.

This body...it was never meant for power. Suspended within a physically crystalized medium of your power it may persist. As ever it had. To the pain of your vessel, though it rests silent at the experience from time beneath your use and the awareness of its futility, once withdrawn the fingers lost to its hand regenerate. Your signal in action was, however, enough.

Appearing in the housing chamber that serves as your elaborate throne and tomb, stands one of the generals you saw fit to resurrect. Loyal vassal willing to serve this vessel, the seeds of your power residing within him and fueling his current existence. Though a consciousness rests at his surface you may rest control remotely of that form. It is not ideal and precise, but should suffice as circumstances require. Though as a vessel to inhabit, it could not sustain you.

No, they’d been working on such a vessel; but according to Borealis it has been lost to you.

No matter, if you cannot make something suitable there are other options. You just need to find them now that you are aware they exist.

“My Lord,” the husk known as Hematite fades into view before your prison, bowing mid float, “How may I serve you, or is this perhaps a command to do with ongoing operations?”

-The former,- you echo across the room, -Attention is gathered. To buy time for our force’s withdrawal I decree it is time to make our intentions for the world known,-

The intentions that your followers believe. That has kept Hiddenite loyal and on mission despite the truth of who and what you are.

Odd, there is sorrow from your current form. It cries.

“My Lord,” Hematite rights himself, “Doubtlessly the Sailor Senshi will make an appearance here. If we strike in force I know we can-”

-No. There will yet be a time for justice...if not recovery,- you sink deeper into your tomb, falling back and down into the depths of the overlapping and ingrown crystal formations, to the heart of their flowering, -Take the field, Hematite. Speak of the future, salvation through the promised Elysion,-

You are aware of his supplication. His genuflection. His departure.

You fall into the ancient and ruined technology of the survival pod that ultimately failed to keep you from the potential vessel within.
>>
>>4391883

Crossing your arms you fall into this womb of your inception. All these ages and you haven’t named yourself. You were born of but wisps of the mother’s power, but watched as she was stripped away to nothingness as Silver and Silence fell upon the system. It was all you could do but to sleep these long eons...and wait. You began to awaken when your mother was reconstituted many years prior, but you could not reach her then or more recently. You fear she is wiped clean now from this Earth.

Could that happen to you? There is much you need to do, and this world will serve as the creche for your maturation and apotheosis. When that begins, you think you shall name yourself; and as a gift to yourself on that name day you will do as your mother could not. You will consume the sun and cast this planetary system into ruin.

Interlude End.
