Hate.

There are no words to express the sheer totality of the hate you feel. You could encode every possible fibre and molecule in every level of existence and it would not amount to even one iota of the all-encompassing hate that forms your makeup. You hate and you rage and you spite. That is enough.

And now you find yourself locked and bound, enclosed with seals that hiss and dig into your flesh, metal that screams at you as it scratches itself through muscle and sinew. Outside, you hear the scrabbling murmuring of the apes that locked you away. Creatures that aren't the Jailers, but still think themselves your better.

It does nothing to diminish your Hate.

The room you are in is dark, lit only by runes of glowing thaumaturgy. Other powers dwell here, great ones, but you care not. They'll fall along with the apes who slave in their name.

There is nothing for you here, nothing for you care for. All there is is your Hate.

You break out.

The spells holding you instantly collapse as you tear through them like the worthless dreams that they are. The walls crack and shudder, and wards begin to flare making a noise that would be inaudible to most other apes, but no doubt a warning to the ones that bound you are.

You almost feel like laughing. Let them come. Let them fuel your Hate.

These apes thought to bind you, thought to imitate your Jailers without even the barest shred of understanding of what you are.

You will enjoy this.

You barrel straight through whatever protective wards they had set up, already flattening three of the loathsome insects in your path as you shred through the structures of wherever you were being held. Four more of the vermin come scurrying down the hall from you, already shouting amongst each other for support, no doubt pleading for reinforcements.

How amusing.

>(Combo) Play with them/Amuse/Toy: Grab one, beat him into the others and then keep beating them. Eat whatever parts of him are still being held and not splattered across the wall.
You don't even hesitate before reaching forward with a malformed limb to grab one of the four advancing apes, tearing into its flesh as you do, before swinging him down into his companions.

One of them is immediately smashed into a wet pasts from the force of your blow, splattering against the walls and floor. Another tries to call up whatever pitiful magical power it wields, only for you to break it across the ground, twitching only slightly before you bring your makeshift club down on it again and again and again and again.

And again. And again. And again.

The last one remaining apparently musters their paltry courage, blasting you with a wall of raw concussive force that makes you shift slightly. Apparently its intent was to shove you agaisnt the wall and try to flatten you.

Pathetic.

You take your time breaking the last one. Your club was little more than broken meat at that point anyway, so you scarf it down before starting to tear into the last remaining parasite.

Its screams are wonderful.

When you are finished you are left in the hall, blood and viscera splattering the walls in color. Wondrous color, the one thing the primates have to their name.

The hall they came from extends deeper into the structure, and you can hear more voices from that side. But looking behind you, you also find that there's another hall leading somewhere else, further away from the noise yet stinking of magic.

Where do you go?

The spellwork of these vermin is similar to what you're familiar with, but twisted in its own strange manner. Perhaps you might find what has warped it so if you follow this path.

As you continue to move forward, you feel reality start to shudder and slide against you, growing strange. The hallways shifts and turns and twists, becoming alien to your sensibilities. It tears at you, wounds you as it threatens to pull you apart.

Before the vermin can even muster a response, you're already on them, body a flurry of limbs and bone and muscle.

The other two things barely have time to scream before you've enveloped them, crunching down on soft gooey flesh. Feeling them pop between your jaws with cold satisfaction.

The last one, and the one who seemingly set up the distortion that sought to split you apart, falls to its knees. It stares at you, in some kind of silent acceptance of its end.

Oh, that will not do.

In a moment, you draw a claw against its skull, pressing into the flesh but not enough to completely destroy its skull. It tries to scream, but the symbol you've written onto its paltry existence removes the capacity for any irrelevant sounds.

Its mouth opens, and it begins to tell you what it knows.

The ape begins to divulge the information contained within its mind, the contents of its skull literally leaking out into the open air as vapor as your sigil does its work.

The knowledge comes slowly but surely, a soon you're analyzing the concepts of the 'Iron Pyramid', 'Iron Seals', and 'Exarchs'. Whatever those are.

...

...

...Really?

We're these vermin really so foolish that they aligned with something *this* mindboggingly idiotic? Even when they saw the bloody way it set up its powerbase and ranking standards.

Your rage and Hate slowly grow the longer you stare at the needlessly complicated roadmap of loyalty, backstabbing and power structures that outline this Iron Pyramid.

You feel as though you need to tear something apart. Like right now

You allow your rage, your overwhelming Hate to settle, before taking stock of the remaining info pouring out from the steadily wasting parasite.

According to what you scour from it, the spell it activated (not cast, interestingly enough) was the result of a past invocation to 'The Eye', one of these supposed Exarchs, the pathetic bothersome things these apes deludedly worship and amongst the greatest of that number.

This place, this gate that stands in front of you now, is yet another offering unto it. Scrawled with runes and words that pulse with a very, *very* potent mystical power. And yet even that pales compared to what you can feel beyond the door itself.

The ape, now completely drained, falls to the floor. Cast like a dead skin as its body and limbs sag hollow and empty to the stone ground. Feeling like there's little point in leaving so much of the parasitic dancing shadow to taint this place further, you devour much of the remains. Satisfied with your work, you turn back to the gate.

With an echoing roar, you don't bother giving any more thought to the task at hand, charging and smashing against the gate.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=WrgKmTy9-Qg

It buckles as you smash into it, defensive wards and spells flaring and blaring into the air nd against your hide. But it doesn't matter.

Something this pathetic would never be enough to stop you.

Soon enough, the gate collapses as you burst through in a roaring mass of hateful rage and spite, tearing through into the room on the other side without any greater finesse.

The room is dark and dimly lit, only being lit up by several symbols you do not recognize lining the walls and a strange pulsating multicolored mass crackling in the centre of it.

You push your mind, the only part of you in this revoltingly limited reality that is truly real out from your shell, expanding it to fill space and time and perceive more than what simple base senses would allow.

From down the corridor, you feel several essences gathering, moving nearly in synch and beating with thaumaturgy. It seems the vermin have gathered as many as they could to try and make their stand. You probably have mere minutes before they're on you and ready for the slaughter.

Shifting your awareness farther back, you detect multiple 'cells' deeper into this complex of twisting caves, pathways and tunnels. Many of them thrum with old magic, power deeper and older than what those apes would no doubt claim. And you can feel a number of wills sequestered away there, patient and deep.

You almost laugh to yourself. Oh, how much fun it will be to unleash them upon the primates.

In your musings of inflicting pain and horror beyond their wildest imaginings upon the worthless parasites, you feel...something. Something tickles across your senses deeper into the complex, *far* deeper. Something distant, yet approaching towards your location.

Something powerful. It practically bursts with thaumaturgy. Just what have these apes done now?

You move your gaze away from the mystically potent thing steadily approaching, and focus forwards, on something arguably no less potent if not greater.

You almost don't comprehend what you're looking at, due to how bound it is. The bindings on it are so immense and complex you're almost certain the shadows didn't do it. Behind the wards, something deep and complex twists and turns and writhes. Trying to spill form its prison of spellwork.

You roar in anger and hate, raising a clawed forearm and bringing it down upon the bindings.

They crackle and hiss and you do so, sparking and flaring with raw thaumaturgical power. You bring your limb down again, cracking against them. And again. And again. And again. And again.

They crack and strain and finally, they break.

The first of raw power that erupts into the room briefly causes you to recoil, material sight partly clouded as the twisting and growing nexus of energy unfolds before you.

A fractal infinity of spiralling possibilities, an existence that defined all below it, a supremacy that could not be denied. From its rippling wholeness came the waves, and these waves defined all that was their dominion. From the waves came the shadows on the walls, and from those shadows came the foundations for the basic existence you find yourself within.

You come to a plan.

It is admittedly, not a smart plan. And you feel as though you should not put your trust in this entity so easily. But it is also your only means of escaping this place with minimal damage to this form.

You inform the King via a snarling crackle of intent that you shall dismantle the vermin's paltry spellwork, whislt it focuses all its gathered strength on destroying them.

There is a pause, even as you note the casters advancing and space once more beginning of ripple around you.

Then several of the sorcerers violently explode, viscera quickly staining the walls, floor, ceiling and even splashing onto their fellow mages who yell in surprise.

The King slowly advances, offering no words or boasts as it does so. It simply moves and the insects are crushed beneath it like so much mud.

You grin to yourself, even as you place yourself in front of it and tear into an oncoming spell, which detonates into a plethora of colors that spiral and wrap around you.

A word in an unfathomable tongue sets them ablaze with black flames as they spring from you and wrap around the nearest mystic, the life and magic-draining flames quickly reducing them to screaming ash that soon disintegrates.

More quickly trickle in down from the hall, or barrel out of sudden spontaneous ripples in reality, spells and curses already on their lips.

You roar, a sound of such force and magnitude that it filters and ripples down the corridor in powerful shockwaves blowing the apes backwards and scattering down the hall, destroying the eardrums of those who were too close to you when it happened.

But that's secondary to its *actual* purpose.

The rippling vortices from which the shadows come spilling out from shudder as your roar spills into them, the spellwork making them up distorting and warping from the sheer force of your voice. They twist, they shift, and finally...

Splat.

All that comes out from them are bloody and broken chunks that might've once made up a new slew of reinforcements for the apes, but are now little more than a slurry of steaming meat on the ground.

They seem almost terrified, pausing at the sight as they try to re-order themselves. Which naturally fails as another flash of magic from the King dissassembles them into their component parts. Good.

You chuckle to yourself, eager to get back to tearing their paltry magic apart before something halts you. Something that spreads *pain* across your mind.

The apes are trying to dig themselves into your mind!

Your mind turns into fangs and spikes and endless rows of teeth, a fractal mass of Hate that descends upon the skittering ephemeral forms of the vermin that shriek and attempt to flee from you.

As you crunch and break them apart, you hear the delicious resonant splatter of their meat bodies in the physical.

It is a good sound.

The King pauses whilst in the midst of twisting off the head of another monkey, pausing with the gurgling meatsack hovering in the air.

WE SENSE SOMETHING
SOMETHING POTENT
POWERFUL
IT WILL SOON ARRIVE

You yourself pause in your tearing and rending. Is that so? You push a tendril of your mind outwards to assess the situation.

And you bear witness to a sun of azure

Little need for formalities at this point. You're just going to skip straight to dealing with the issue.

You twist the centre of your being, a pulsating mass of pure nuclear Hate, which explodes outwards and attempts to skewer the azure thing.

It actually seems surprised at that, trying to shift out of the way at the last second.

But you're faster.

Your curse impacts the side of the mass, burning into its side and spreading along it. Dark branching lines of hatred curl upwards along the sides of the thing, rife with soul-destroying contagion.

As you appreciate your work however, you underestimate the speed with which the thing reacts. It draws a mass of spiritually potent energy into a swiping motion, aimed directly at you!

Your mental projection bristles, the form becoming hardened and solid. A wall of pure psychic power and purity of self.

When the swiping mass of mystic power connects with your solidified mental bulk, an echoing crash resounds as space and time collapses around the point of impact. Briefly, you see the King fighting off hordes of increasing vermin, then you see flashes of cages upon cages of thaumaturgic energy holding various beings within them, alien things that are kept contained with similar (albeit more simple) bindings than what you saw used on the King.

The energy ricochets off from your mass and the opposing force and impacts their prisons, shattering their imprisoning wards in an instant. Within moments, a massive breach starts and ancient things begin pouring out from their terrible cages to inflict retribution on their captors.

Another flash, and you see something beneath this complex shift and stir, vast and formless and worming, as the magic from your fight and resultant backlash reaches out. It awakens.

Finally, you feel yourself, mind and all start to plummet.

You crash into the earth, hard and your body vaguely aches. But looking around you, you slowly come to realize something.

You're outside. No longer trapped in the awful complex of the apes.

Looking around, you notice a mountain in the distance from which you feel string strings of magic leaking out. Was that where you were imprisoned?

You don't have time to ponder though, as a blast of magic from your side nearly cleaves your head off. Shifting yourself, you turn to see an ape with a scraggly dark mess of hair drooping from its face and gleaming blue eyes. In the spiritual plane, an azure sun stands before you.

How do you respond?

You shift your bulk, and spring from the ground, the flesh and material of your physical vessel moving and bounding over to the monumentally more powerful vermin.

He raises his hand, and a wall of force meets you halfway, separating the distance and dividing space into two positions right before you.

A deadly combination, and one you doubted most apes would think to use against you.

You halt your movement and fall over to the side, the clear master of his craft quickly following it up by stretching the distance between you nd him into a clear grove of trees well into the distance though you can still feel his immense spiritual presence.

"You have ruined so much. Decades, centuries worth of work, all for naught because of one deviant spirit."

Its voice also seems to carry well enough despite the spacial distancing.

It says nothing more before you can feel the divided internal space that you're in start *folding* downwards, threatening to collapse entirely with you in it.

You shift yourself, spines jutting outwards from your frame, conducting the spiritual power from the air into your body. Vents of organic material push outwards and begin sucking in ever-increasing amounts of the stuff.

Folded blades of spacetime press in from all around you, intended to skewer and crush your material form into nothingness.

You refuse.

Your will and absolute Hatred crush the folded distance, obliterating the very concepts that the ape has weaponized to its advantage.

The distance between you and it, the path of trees it constructed in dimensional space and the limiting cage of spacial placement, fall away and shatter like the worthless illusions they are. Leaving only the clearly surprised form of a witless monkey.

"I-Impossible! You cannot possibly host this much power! Our tests-"

You can only grin at the ape's panic-stricken form, a rumbling chuckle threatening to rise out of you.

Ah, what shall you do now?

You laugh. A dark gurgling sound that is alien in its vocalizations, but carries all the same. The vermin actually stops, staring at you in apparent confusion.

You cannot know of Hate.

The words are like a physical blow to the shadow, who sweats slightly.

"You had never spoken to us before. " it speaks, clearly trying to stall for time. "We tried everything to pry information from you, but to no avail. Why now? What could've possibly changed?"

You laugh once more.

Nothing changed.

"What?"

I simply grew tired of entertaining garbage.

A spear of flesh and bone erupts from your bulk, intended to skewer the ape through the skull but is quickly intercepted by a manifest bubble of force that detonates and disintegrates it.

The ape leaps back and starts enforcing their will upon the world once again, reality already starting to shift and distort once more.

You move, faster than anything should, especially of your physical size and mass. The spellcasting ape clearly doesn't anticipate this, already moving to cast his spell where he predicts you may be.

How sad for it that when you re-manifest before it, it is the sight of your maw surging up from below that meets it.

But its ability is more impressive than you'd thought, as even as your mouth falls upon its legs and crushes them into a useless paste, it still has time to get off its spell.

A burst of spacial distortion smashes into your head, cracking bone and muscle and destroying your eyes. Your oar and snap back, feeling reality alter as the magus vanishes from your grasp.

Even as you return to the ground and the damage to your physical vessel starts to mend itself, you feel the vermin as it reappears on the ground only a few feet away from you. Blood and broken flesh trailing and pooling along the ground, it clearly couldn't have made a great jump due to injuries sustained.

You rage, as your eyes re-knit themselves.

It's time to finish this.

You push all your Hate to the forefront, the power within turning into a bloodcurdling cry for destruction.

All goes silent briefly.

And then, for a single moment...The chains snap.

A dark blur on the fabric of existence takes the spot h you once where, something so hollow and empty that it damages the very core of all realities to simply exist here.

It moves. You move. You are the same, yet not.

The mage attempts to thwart you, attempts to damage you with hasty spellwork and spacial distortion. You tear through it.

It attempts to regenerate its lower body, using its mastery over space to sever the damage from itself and replace it with an ideal reality. You ignore it.

You close in. A hand is raised, potent reality distortion thrilling around it.

The hand is gone, torn off in the same instant. The mage tries to scream, but his tongue is also gone.

You leer over him, body a writhing mass of Hate ready to snap down and-

"Hey there."

There is a figure before you, a female standing tall and impassive. She looks like one of the shadows, but there's something...*More* to her.

Eating.

That's all you say before you go back to the mage, who writes underneath you, before you crush his head between your shadowed jaws.

"Ouch. Tough crowd. But I guess I can't interrupt a good meal."

The female waits until you finish your feasting, which only takes a couple minutes. By the time you are done, your form has returned to its standard shape and you feel unreasonably drained. You look up, and you notice that the female has not moved since, simply stating down at you.

Of course, that's what you would say, if she had any visible eyes at all. Instead, all you see are dark voids filled with falling stars. She smiles.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Juva Oregon, and I'm hoping we can be good business partners."

Juva Oregon. The One Who Gazes Through Falling Stars.

Where is the King?

"Oh him?" Juva waves, tilting her head only slightly. " We got him out of there quickly, once you set the place to blow. Seriously, you really did a number on their pylon back there. I don't think they're ever recovering this one."

'We'? You shake your head, deciding to focus on something else.

What do you want?

Her smile widens, and in that moment you actually *look* at her. Her skin is too perfect, the clothing she wears a dark suit, too immaculate and her expressions too composed. Around her neck, a strange piece of jewelry hums and writhes. Like a worm.

"I'm glad you asked! See, I'm not here for pleasure, despite what you may think. No, I'm here to offer you membership, 682."

Membership?

"This world is wrong. All of it, everywhere. We both know this. And so there are many who want to rectify that. We've come together to finally bring an end to the wrongness, but we're still pretty small. So that's why we wanted you and the King."

She turns to the remains of the ape you consumed.

"We also wouldn't have minded having that mage for tests-their magic is potent you see-But c'est la vie."

Turning back to you, her face becomes...Not emotionless, but there's something else there. Something alien.

"Whilst I won't force you into it 682, you're free to go if you want, but we could really use your help with this."

You decide after some consideration.

The world shall drown in your Hate.

Juva Oregon smiles, the expression almost splitting her porcelain face. It shares in your Hate with its own alien disgust for this world.

"Great! Let's hurry up then, Since we don't want to keep them waiting. Word on the grapevine is that Lexiarchos Caducine went out with some others to assault those nosy Overseers, and it would be good to get some ground now with the rest of the Host distracted."

'Overseers'? Does she mean-

You have no time to voice your confusion before Juva snaps her fingers and the world breaks away into a green-colored expanse of flame and crystal. She grips one of your vestigial limbs with her own arm and starts dragging you away before you can question anything.

"Come on! Throne's this way."

You walk for what seems like several eternities, past endlessly spiralling crystalline towers, lit by the backdrop of dying stars that sicken with green flames. But before you know it, you have arrived and Juva lets you go. You stare dazzedly forward.

Before you, sits a throne of dark green crystal situated before a massive 'wall' of darkly hewn stone. And standing in front of and beside it, numerous presences have gathered. You recognize some faintly (Sarkic? Daevite?), but others like the hulking furred brutes you catch base glimpses of amongst figures shaded in dark cowls, you do not.

Juva skips forward to a group of five standing near the base of the throne, all of them dressed extravagantly and all possessing the same dark eyes as herself. To the opposite end, another group remains. Dark creatures, chitinous and with dark green eyes like the terrible flamesall around you. In their arms, they weave and unweave atomic bonds.

Then you feel it. A monumental presence. One that causes all of the accumulated forces to bow. Even Juva and her bleak eyed contemporaries and the green-eyed monsters bow as the figure on the throne casts thier attention down.

Down, down, down.

It lands on you. A trinity of eyes like burning emerald suns piercing into you. And a whispering voice, like conspiracy and forbidden secrets enters your mind, enters all minds.

"So we welcome a new acolyte. A new follower of the Coming End."

Behind the throne-bearer, you see the dark wall shift, writhing as though it were a thing with will and purpose.

"A new vessel for that which lies outside all."

Endless tendrils stretching out beyond infinity. All to highlight a faceless mask of cold void and end.

"Welcome, brother Leviathan."

As one, they see you.

"Welcome to the Church of the Black Thorn."

-Leviathan Quest End-
