Wealth, fame, power. Gold Roger the king of the pirates obtained this and everything else the world had to offer. And his dying words drove countless souls to the seas.
"You want my treasure? You can have it! I left everything I gathered together in one place. Now you just have to find it!"
These words lured men to the grand line, pursuing dreams greater than they ever dared to imagine. This is the time known as the great pirate era. It is within this era that an unassuming little boat washed ashore on Coconut Island of the West Blue and where our tale begins.

Green. You haven't seen anything but blue for quite a while now so the new color manages to excite you quite a bit. Not wasting any time you aim for the beach and jump out in order to pull your boat onto dry land. But as you happily tug and heave at the rope you are stopped by a pair of friendly men approaching you.
"HEY! You there. Boy. What are you doing?"
The men are wearing matching white outfits and caps with seagulls on them. They look remarkably silly.

"I'm docking?"

"No. You're beaching. Docking is done in the water. Are you trying to skip out on the docking fees?"

"No mister. I didn't know I have to pay to dock."

"Well everybody does. Even if you're beaching your boat. So do you want to buy a permit or shall we confiscate your boat now?"

Welcome everyone to West Blue Seadogs Quest!
Before we begin let's set the rules shall we?

>What is this?
A quest set in the One Piece universe, more specifically in the West Blue. A sea rife organized crime and the birthplace of some of the worst scum the world has ever seen
>When is it set? What about canon?
We'll be starting at the exact same time as Romance Dawn. Meaning that while canon is still intact, that has the potential to change quite a bit
>Who are we?
A 15 year old boy alone at the sea. You have no applicable skills what so ever. Your decisions will decide your proficiency
>Dice
We'll be primarily using 3d10's and a best of 3 will decide the outcome. Rolling happens after voting for labor intensive tasks. The DC can be influenced by your decisions in both good and bad ways. So clever thinking is rewarded and bad ideas are punished.
>Updates
I'll try to churn one out every hour but I'm mostly just testing the levels of activity during different hours
>Questions
Anything you want to ask you can do it in the thread and I'll try my best to answer so don't be shy

Here's my twitter: @SpookyngQM
In case anyone wants it
I'll also post the Archive as well as the Character sheet and Social links once I make them

You rummage around in your pocket and scrape together every belly that you have and present it to the two adults.
"Is this enough?"

One of them starts rolling the coins around in his hand and counts them. They don't appear to be satisfied.
"What? Only 500? Ugh fine."
The two continue to grumble as they leave and casually pocket what amounted to all of your money. They were in such a hurry they even forgot to give you your permit. Hopefully you won't be in any trouble for this. But at least now you won't be disturbed for a little while. After securing your boat and swinging the sack containing the rest of your belongings over your shoulder you head into the nearby village.

"Whoa! So this is what a big town looks like!"
You look around and see two people sitting in the shade, another laying on his market stall and a hooded man kneeling beside a building with his hand put out.
"It's even better than I imagined!"
Your enthusiastic stroll is then suddenly interrupted by an ungodly growl.
"Oh right. I should eat something. Wait! MY MONEY! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I forgot!"
You fall to your knees and begin sobbing as the reality of the situation finally dawns on you. There's no helping it, you need to find a way to sustain yourself.

Time to look for a job

Thinking about the issue for a moment you see no other way out of this other than getting a job. You could go and ask someone for food or go into the wild to look for something but you'll need money sooner or later. And while you don't know where one can find a job you do know where you can go and ask.
Finding a tavern is easy, just follow the sound of swearing, shouting and ear splitting music and you're on the right track. And it just so happens to be the exact building where the hooded figure is kneeling. As you walk up to the swinging door he even stops you and raises his hand higher.
"Please. Spare some change for the hungry."

"I-"
You can't even respond before your stomach lets out a painful growl.

"Oh. I see. Forgive me."

He curls up once more and gets back to his business. You feel bad for him but now you got more important things to worry about. As you enter the tavern you see a few of the patrons eyeballing you already. Walking up to the bar you climb on one of the stools and spot the bartender, a fat and very hairy man who's too busy with the newspaper to even look at you.
"We don't serve kids here."

"Sorry mister. I can't buy anything. I'm just looking for a job."

He stops his reading long enough to size you up and he quickly gets confused.
"Who are you? You're not from around here are you?"

"No sir. I just arrived with a boat. But I spent all my money and need more.
Do you know where I could find some work maybe?"

"Hmmmm... well that depends. What can you do?"

"Not much. But I'm used to hard work!"

"That's not-"

As the bartender is about to say something, the man with the cloudy eyes that was looking at you finally stands up and walks beside you. He grabs you by your white shirt and pulls you in so he can leer at you a bit better. You can't help but shut your nose as his stinky breath irritates you.
"Look what we have here! Little boys coming in and thinking they could steal our jobs! We don't like those around here! Maybe we ought to teach you some manners!"

His fist comes up so quickly you can't even react before it smacks you in the cheek so hard you fall off your stool and roll on the ground. Luckily he seems satisfied and doesn't kick you while you're down. Instead he makes his way back to his table, satisfied with his work. The bartender is shouting at him but it's hard to make out from your ringing ear. That certainly wasn't very nice of him.

Rubbing your cheek you get up and wait for the ringing to subside. As soon as it does you can make out the owners yelling.
"How many times have I told you?! If you can't behave yourselves then GET OUT! You clearly had more than enough as is!"
But the thugs just laugh him off and return to chugging their drinks. Unfortunately for the bartender it looks like they have no intentions of leaving. Maybe you could convince them. Walking up to the group the rather unpleasant man belongs you clear your throat.

"I'm sorry but there was a little misunderstanding. I didn't come to take anyone's job-"

"HAAA? You again? Haven't you had enough yet?!"
He reaches for an empty bottle on the table and raises it to smack you over the head with it. Only this time you grabbed his forearm before he could reach you. Your resistance fuels his anger but it quickly disappears as he realizes that try as he might he can't break free from your hold.

"But erm... could you leave now? I think the owner said he doesn't want you here anymore."

Nobody really knows what's going on anymore. The aggressive man keeps trying to make you let go but when you stop his other arm from smacking you he realizes that something's not right here. He stops resisting and quickly agrees to leave as you keep staring at him. Happy with the result you let go of him and he gathers his drinking buddies. As they all leave the owner looks at you.
"What did you just do?"

"I asked him nicely."

He smiles.
"Well if that's the case then I think I might actually have a job for you! I could use a good bouncer."

"Bouncer?"

"You throw out troublesome people. I can't pay much but I'll give you a free meal. Interested?"

"OH BOY!"

>1/2
>>
You quickly cash in that free meal and stuff your face before any more patrons arrive. Surprisingly quite many people show up in the afternoon hours. The owner tells you that this is a mining village and that people are typically poor. So many spend their time in his tavern. Unfortunately that also means many frustrated and tired men that need to be kept in check. At first people were not too impressed by your presence but after the second or third troublemaker you managed to make people wary. As things calmed down and the sun began to set you sat down and chatted with the owner..
"Got to say it's good to have a quiet night for once. So kid. Where are you from?"

"Don't know."

"Never heard of it. Is "Don't know" far from here?"

"It is. Took me more than a week to get here."

"Not from the neighboring islands then. Sometimes we get visitors from there. So what ship did you come with? Where's the rest of the crew? Or are you just a stowaway?"

"There are no others. Just me and my rowboat."

"Ah that makes sense. Guess others would've shown up by now if you were traveling with someone. Anyway I think I'll take it from here kid. You can go and get some rest."

"You sure you'll be fine?"

"Yes. You already took care of the worst guys and I don't think they'll be coming back anytime soon. So here, your payment: 4000 Bellies."
It's certainly not much but it's not like you can expect more from half a days work.

You take your well earned payment and thank the owner. But there is still one little matter to attend to. Truthfully there are several but you can only focus on one at a time.
"Um, I don't mean to be ungrateful but I don't really have a place to stay for the night."

"Sorry kid but you're on your own. Don't get many visitors here and, well you saw the locals. I don't give out beds since the "incident". But you could probably try your luck with the marines. Last time I heard they rent out beds for the few visitors we do get. But if you value that little money you just made I'd advise against it. Slimy bastards. Not enough that they collect the governments taxes but they also swindle us out of our savings. Their latest trick is extorting docking fees out of unsuspecting victims! Seriously nobody even comes here so why screw them over like that? And all that for what? Protection against pirates that never come here because we're poor as dirt?"

It looks like he'll keep going like that for a while longer so you excuse yourself and sneak out of the building. Sadly it looks like you won't be able to sleep comfortably today as that money will be needed to purchase supplies. On the way here you almost ran out and died of thirst even with how much you were rowing. So you'll need to buy much more food and water than last time.
"Darn it. I'll never make it to the Grand Line."
You sit down next to the taverns wall and look up at the stars.

"Grand... Line?"
You look to the side and you see the same hooded man you met at noon. Looks like he hasn't moved an inch and he hasn't made much profit either. As he turns to look at you, you get a much clearer view of his features which manage to startle you. His face is elongated and brown with many pointed teeth decorating his massive jaw.
"You're going to the Grand Line?"

"Oh, erm, yeah. That's the plan. Do you know the Grand Line mister?"

"Know it? I was born there. I'm a fishman. And you shouldn't go there. Nothing to find there but misery."

"I know. I still wanna go there. I heard it's the place where you go to make a name for yourself!"

"You don't know what it's like. None of you do."
He turns away from you and continues to stare at the ground. Poor guy.

That reminds you of something. He said he wanted some money and good thing too because if he didn't you would've assumed he just wanted a high five. It's not really easy giving your money away like that but maybe you can get something in return. Hopefully a few tales of the Grand Line.
"Erm here. I think this is 4000. You can have half of it."

You slap down the four 1000 belly bills on his hand and he looks up at you. He can't quite figure out what to make of this but he takes two of them and hands the other two back. Then he looks carefully at the bills and he almost tears up as he realizes they are genuine.
"Thank you!"

"You're welcome. Now can I ask you some stuff about the Grand Line?"

"Uh, one moment!"
He quickly stands up and rushes in the tavern and tripping no less than twice on the way in. A few minutes later he comes out with half of a roasted chicken and begins devouring it in front of you. In about 5 minutes he rips every morsel off the bones and sighs with relief before remembering that he's supposed to be talking with you.
"Thank you! You saved my life. I don't know when was the last time I ate warm food. But I can't tell you anything about the Grand Line. The things I know are not meant for a kids ears. Why do you care so much about it anyway?"

"Well I-"

"PIIIIIIIRATE!"
You hear a scream and you jolt up. Looking in the direction the voice is coming from you see a man wearing the white uniform of the men that sold you a docking license. He's running with a lit torch in his hand and a pair of binoculars swinging around his neck. He runs past you and keeps running until he leaves the town. It looks like he's heading to the big tower like building in the distance.
"A PIRATE SHIP IS COMING! NOBODY PANIC!! I SAID NOBODY PANIC! WE'LL HANDLE THIS!"
Well that's a relief.

"T-This is bad! Hey kid! Come with me! We gotta hide until they realize there is nothing and they leave!"

You nod as the big fishman stands up and follow him. He's taking behind the buildings facing the main road.
"Okay! Nobody will know we're here if we stay quiet."

"What do you mean? All they have to do is search the place and they'll find us!"

"Not if there's no way to get to us!"
Without any warning he grabs you by the shirt and tosses you up at the roof of the tavern with zero effort. He jumps after you and lands on the flat roof with a loud thud. It doesn't even look like it was all that difficult for him.
"Okay we just have to keep our heads down and nobody will know we're here."

You do as you're told and watch as the townfolk barricade themselves in their homes. Meanwhile you're getting excited because you'll finally get to see what pirates fighting marines looks like. But it appears that you'll have to wait a bit longer because only one of the participants bothered to show up. Your fishy friend has to focus real hard on hushing his own growls. The pirates stroll into town like they own the place. They are seven in total, all brandishing some sort of a firearm as well as swords. None of them are really that outstanding except for the one in the center, their captain you presume. He's a big fellow, easily more than twice your size, making him over 3 meters tall. He has a big sword on his back and a comically normal looking pistol strapped to his waist.

"Hey Captain! Looks like people are very rude on this island. Nobody even came to greet us."

"Doesn't matter. If they don't welcome us then we'll let ourselves in! Go and grab everything valuable then get their owners as well. This place has a marine base by the look of it."

"Aye aye sir!"

>1/2
>>
You try to get a better look at things but your fishman pal keeps pushing you down. He whispers about how he dislikes this as well but you can't do much about it and how the marines won't either. And he may be right. The pirates break in the houses of people and start ransacking everything. When they finally come out they carry small handfuls of cash, fancy cutlery, small jewels, food or bottles of alcohol, anything that has worth. Once they are done they begin rounding up people and tying them up.
"What's taking so long? Where are the marines?"
You whisper.

"They aren't coming. They are always conveniently late whenever something bad happens."

"Looks like the marines aren't coming cap'n!"

"Pfefefe! Looks like they are busy! Okay guys! Just a little more and we can go!"

"HEY CAP'! You said you like redheads huh? Check this out!"
The pirate drags a very resistant woman out of her home at gunpoint. Unlike the others she doesn't get tied up and threatened with beheadings if she resists. Instead the captain looks like he's sizing her up.

"Not bad, not bad! You know you look very pretty young lady. I think you'd make a perfect pirate queen for me!"
He grabs her by the cheek and moves her head around so he can get a better look at her. But she doesn't look like she appreciates the treatment and bites his finger hard enough to make him bleed.
"AGH you little-"
He tosses the girl on the ground and points his sword at her neck.

You've seen enough of this. You decided to go down there but all those hostages mean you can't approach the pirates. So what if there was another way? Pondering on how to do this an idea forms in your head and you smirk. From your prone position you stand up and begin running as fast as you can so the fishman can't stop you. Jumping off the roof you prepare for your dramatic entrance and with a shout you land and roll on the ground. The pirates quickly look in your direction and become twitchy.
"WHO'S THERE?!"

You begin screaming in response.
"AAAAAAAAAAAH MY KNEE! AAAAAH! NO MY KNEE!"

The pirates begin laughing at you and their captain leaves his woman in the care of one of his goons. He walks up to you and grabs you by the neck. He's so tall your legs no longer touch the ground when he raises you to his level.
"Lookie here boys. We got ourselves a hero. Tell me boy, what did you hope to do there?"

You stop your sobbing and look him in the eye.
"Well I thought I didn't really like you so I was gonna stop you."

"PFFAAAAAFAFAFAFA! Do you guys hear this? The boy wanted to stop us!"

They all break out in uproarious laughter which lasts for an entire minute while you reach for your pants. In an instant the laughter stops as they all hear a loud click and open their eyes. Their joy turned into dread as they saw the barrel of a pistol pointed right at the underside of their captains jaw. Before they could even make a noise you pulled the trigger with a smirk on your face. *click* Nothing.

Both you and the captain look down to see what happened. Confused you pull the trigger again and see a tiny bit of water sprout from the barrel of your pistol and your eyes shoot out of your skull as you start screaming for real this time. The flintlock got waterlogged.

>1/2
>>
The pirate quickly throws you to the ground in a fit of panic and you quickly hurry to your feet. His subordinates all look shocked and don't know what to do as for all intents and purposes their captain almost died right then and there.
"What are you waiting for you idiots?! Get that brat!"

You start running as fast as your legs can take you while the pirates open fire at you. Luckily you manage to avoid getting shot until the captain ordered his men to stand down. Apparently he wants you alive so he can deal with you personally. Perfect. That means you have a fighting chance.

While the pirates give chase you run into the tavern because you kinda know its layout. After entering you quickly hide and wait for the first of the pirates to step in. The moment they do they get greeted by a chair to the face which breaks apart on impact. Only the two legs remain in your hands which you promptly toss at the second one, managing to hit him with one of them. All that did is piss him off, making him draw his sword as he steps over his unconscious buddy. The dark comes in handy as the brigand can only swing wildly in the hopes of hitting you.
"Stop running you little-"

You slide over a table and wait for the guy to bump into it. When you feel it move you flip it on him. Two others enter the room and they are greeted by a bottle of wine to the face each. As they stumble you dropkick one of them out of the window but you're not fast enough to get the other. He begins swinging his cutlass around and manages to slash at your belly. Quickly you tackle him to the ground before he can swing again and punch him in the face a couple of times to make sure he's out cold.
But as you're pummeling him a pair of hands grab you from behind and lift you up.

"Gotcha!"
The goon holds you down tight while his last remaining buddy comes up punches you in the face and the stomach. Raising your legs you kick him away and the guy holding you stumbles backwards. A quick elbow in the liver frees you from his hold and you can get back on him. Jumping up you grab him by the shoulders and headbutt him repeatedly until he falls. You look up to see if the guy you kicked can still fight or not and you get a sucker punch for your troubles. As your head hits the ground he quickly steps on it and begins to press down on you.
>>
The guy is so heavy you can't throw him off no matter how hard you try and when he puts the tip of his sword to your cheek you know it's over. But help comes from an unexpected source as you hear a loud cracking sound coming from above. The roof of the building collapses and a massive weight is dropped on you as well as the pirate. You feel the weight lifting shortly afterwards as the fishman you made friends with lifts you up.
"Thanks for the save!"

"S-sorry I couldn't do more. I'm in no shape to fight."

"Where's the guy?"

"You mean this guy? He's out."

"Okay. Take their weapons away and tie them up! They are out but not for long."

"Got it. Don't worry I won't mess up. I got good night vision."

You give him a nod and leave the tavern through the broken swinging door that's held up by only a single hinge now. Though you may look sorry with the lower half of your white shirt stained with your own blood and the bruises on your face the fact that you're the only one that came out of there remains. And the captain knows what that means. As such he doesn't even attempt to handle you himself, instead he points his weapon at the hostages.
"Not so fast punk! One more step and I'll start cutting their heads off! I'll do it! I have a bounty of one million to back that up!"

"One million? Is that a lot?"

Well there's no way to go but forward. And trying anything fancy might just endanger people as opposed to save them. So it's decided. You begin sprinting as fast as you can with the intent of taking the guy out before he could do anything. Seeing this he begins threatening you as opposed to doing good on his word.
"S-STOP! What are you doing?! I'll kill them you hear?!"

No. He won't. He's too scared of you to act smart. And as he sees you not slowing down he turns away from his meatshields, his only line of defense and raises his absurdly large sword. With a great overhead slash he swings to cut you in half only to find his weapon hitting what feels like a wall. His face distorts to roughly the same shape yours had when your pistol didn't fire as he looks down. He sees the thing that stopped his sword and he can't believe it. The barrel of your pistol.
"Hehe guess one million is not a lot after all!"

Slightly moving your hand you manage to push his sword aside enough to give you a clear view of his torso and you decide to make the most of that opportunity and kick him in the guts with all your strength. The pirate then tumbles backwards until he hits his head into a wall. Judging by the small amount of blood trickling down him, his head must've split open a little. But he probably won't die from his injury. The townsfolk barely understand what just transpired so they are looking at you for answers.
"I-Is it over?"

You give them a thumbs up and start untying them while your fishman friend also arrives with the rest of the blackguards neatly roped up.
"I got all of 'em. Even searched their clothes for any hidden weapons."

As he starts lining them up however you start hearing what sounds like a large herd of animals coming your way. Turns out those were just the local marines that showed up in the nick of time to help everyone. How fortunate. To their credit they do start with making sure the civilians are safe but right after that they turn their attention to the pirates.
"Alright everyone, don't panic! We'll round up those pirates in no time and... who are these guys?"

"These are the pirates you're looking for Captain. But it looks like someone actually did your job for you once."

"Oh it's the fishman again. Listen we came as fast as we could and I won't say any more than that!
Now who's responsible for doing this?"

>1/2
>>
The crowd parts before you, leaving you no choice but to own up to your actions.
"Me."

The marine captain is in disbelief.
"Is this some kind of joke?"

"Not really. I did most of the work. Though he helped."

"Murray helped you? I'm sorry but I'm more inclined to believe a kid took out seven armed pirates on his own. Nevertheless we and the entire island owe you a lot."

"That you do."
Murray the fishman steps up.
"One million to be exact according to that scumbag over there."

"O-One million? But we can't, I mean we have to verify that and even then we don't have that kind of-"
The marine sighs.
"No you're right. If the bounty is legit it will be paid of course. I'll just send a message to Marineford that we'll take one million out of the tribute, that's what it's for anyway."
The captain then turns to you and adjusts his hat.
"In the name of the navy I'm sorry for all that transpired here."

"That's okay. But you should apologize to these people."

"True and we will, I promise.
But what comes first is your reward. We'll get working on it immediately. I got to say though I haven't seen beatings like this since I left bootcamp. Hey kid, by any chance don't you want to become a marine? It's not much but I could write you a letter of recommendation. With that they'd have to take you in for training."

As they gather their stuff and leave Murray the fishman walks up to you.

"Sure."

"You want to go to the Grand Line right? Well the only kind of people that do want to go there are marines or pirates. And you just said no to joining the marines. Does that mean-"

"I'm a pirate. Yes."

"Thought so. And what's your goal? Do you want to be King as well?"

"Nah. I told you already. I want to make a name for myself. I don't want anybody elses. King, Emperor, Warlord, I heard about them and I don't care. I want a name that's mine alone."

"Hmmm. You're a strange one I'll give you that. Maybe you do belong in that mad sea after all.

"Of course if we get other crewmembers we'll have to split it evenly but until then you get half. Oh and you'll have to do that part because I can't count. Or read.

Murray just stands there in silence for a minute before he returns to himself.

Man, it's hard to think of *anything* oda hasn't used yet.
even then, i stopped watching a long time ago due to pacing, so some of these might have been used
>>
>>4458701
Well that's the beauty of DF's. Even if your fruit is not one of these you could easily bullshit your way into mimicing their effects
Two totally unrelated fruits an have shockingly similar abilities like Mochi and Rubber
>>
>>4458701
I recommend One Pace in that case. It's a dedicated crew of editors who edit the anime into shorter episodes to match the manga pacing. I've been watching it since Fishman Island and it's very well done, pretty seamless too.
>>
>>4458711
Buggy and law have similar fruits but the difference lies in what it applies to.
>>
>>4458607
Shrooms shrooms fruit. Become a fungus man that can produce spores, accelerate decay, maybe survive otherwise mortal sounds since a shrooms can grow from any part of itself if it has something to feed on.
>>
>>4458701
Well I had the idea for a DF that would allow the user to "melt" into and travel shadows, though I have no idea what to call it.

I've also been thinking of a crocodile zoan fruit.

And finally the Bachi Bachi no Mi Hornet Hornet Fruit. this turns the user into a hive of otherwise normal hornets that they can control at will
>>
>>4458740
To be honest, I think a zoan-type fruit would be fun to explore, really press the limits of what it can do. So far it has been kind of the low-end type of DF imo.
>>
>>4458740
The first sounds like a weaker Kage kage no Mi and the second like a different take on the Castle Castle fruit

>>4458753
Zoans are weird but I like them. They feel more like their users went "Oh this makes me big and strong, cool" and stopped there
While a few people got lucky with more advanced models that can do more stuff or experimented with them until they unlocked some real scary shit like Chopper or Kaku. Not to mention the awakened ones
>>
>>4458773
Yeah, that is why I didn't know what to name it.

Mizu Mizu no Mi/Water Water Fruit.

A logia fruit that allows ones body to become water.

Not too certain if a water based logia fruit is already in One Piece but I think it’s an interesting enough concept.
>>
>>4459310
There is no water logia in one piece, probably because the whole devil fruit users can't swim and lose all strength when submerged up to their ankles thing would make it overpowered
>>
>>4459931
Yeah I don't think it exists either. Maybe BBEG Imu but even that's a stretch
Water is just such an antithesis to anything Df related I don't think it's possible for such a fruit to be real
>>
>>4459931
>>4460094
Sam's reason I figure there are no fish/aquatic creature type zoan. Either it ignores some of the drawbacks expected of a devil fruit, or it can't use it's strengths properly since they would be drawn from the context of being under water
>>
>>4460173
When typing about a possible water devil fruit I actually was thinking “ok but how would this work. Surely you cannot negate the weaknesses of being a devil fruit user” and thinking more on it now. I’ve come up with 2 possible solutions

1: Instead of pure water it instead takes moisture from the air and surrounding area to create water, however it cannot absorb too much, hence why being in water would be bad and not really be good. You’d still sink afterall.

B: A sort of reverse effect, your way heavier and weaker on land however when your in the sea you feel fine and as such are stronger.
>”but how would that even be effective? Surely you couldn’t just sleep in the water, and you’d be very weak on land”
For this reverse scenario I was thinking of possibly being able to breathe and live in water thanks to the devil fruit. More importantly because it’d be logia, you could easily hide yourself in a barrel filled with water or some sort of bucket because you can become water.
>>
Okay lads I changed my trip a little, don't be alarmed
Anyway I came to announce something. I've always been more of a "fluff" kinda guy but I'd like to try out a bit of crunch this time. Tomorrow I'll try to implement some actual effects for the various stats you'll have. The reasoning for this is that OP is a very romantic setting where willpower directly translates to power, so it'd be fitting to have a system that reflects it. You'll have 5 stats which you can level up through repeated use. Depending on your level in each you'd get points to spend. The number of times you can do this and how effective they are would depend on your level
Allow me to break them down for you

>Strength
Physical power in all its forms. Used in perilous situations to perform beyond ones limit to either turn a failure into a success or amplify an already successful attack

>Guts
Sometimes it's not about how hard you hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and still keep going. Called audacity by some.
Behaves much like Strength but used for defense to keep hanging on by a thread or nosell attacks that'd harm you lightly

>Knowledge
Not just academic knowledge but a general awareness of ideas, objects, concepts and an understanding of how the world works.
Can give you help against enemies or navigate complicated situations (also unlocks reading and writing)

>Charm
Your ability to persuade others not just through speech but appearance, demeanor and mannerisms.
Your babyface and childlike mentality may sway some but it won't carry you far
Useful in all social situations as well as in combat to demoralize, anger or dissuade your opponent

>Presence
While charm is a personal skill Presence dictates how the world in general views you. It can't be trained only earned and used in many ways.
Acting according to your unsavory reputation can strike fear into the masses. But if people see a known monster staying its hand they can't help but view it as virtuous

You'd start out with the lowest level in Guts and Strength and fuck all in everything else
I'd like to hear your input on it

>>4460173
The closest we've seen Zoans get to aquatics are animals that spend most their lives in water (so crocodiles are okay) and amphibians (like Smiley. Also fuck this guy, this guy in particular because I can't use the Axolotl now)

>>4460441
That sounds... bizarre. The first one could work if it's the Sponge Sponge Fruit.
The second would be nothing short of a second Yami Yami no Mi, a special logia or as a weird science experiment trying to fix the DF weakness gone wrong. But it "MIGHT" work
>>
>>4460493
Oh also tomorrow I'm planning on running around 15:00 GMT
>>
>>4460493
Sounds pretty good to me. And that's pretty much all you're gonna get out of me since I'm a damn brainlet when it comes to stat systems and the like.

Would there be max levels for these?
>>
>>4460493
Would the points regenerate?
>>
>>4460528
I'unno
Don't even know if I want to give them numeric levels or do it DMC style with letters. I'm leaning towards the latter
And for the ultimate reward for maxing one out would be a once per thread chance to outright improve a result. i. e. turning a fail into a success or a success into a critical
>>
>>4460538
Yes. Though not sure how frequently. Like per encounter, in-game days, session or thread
>>
>>4460540
>>4460545

A sponge sponge fruit sounds interesting. Probably more likely to appear in the actual series than a water based fruit
>>
>>4458607
Well you can't go wrong with being able to fly fast. Any Zoan would do, I'm personally for a crane or hornet as the other anon said. Both animals have badass combat themes associated with them.

For Paramecia
>Twirl Twirl fruit- ability to twirl and twist thing they touch
>Twinkle Twinkle fruit- ability to produce and control fireworks

For Logia a Dirt fruit would be boss, the ability to create islands by dumping enough earth in a spot and other fun things.

Nah. I was originally inspired by Blueno spinning Luffy's face and envisioning massive crowd control by twirling/spinning the battlefield, no structure could impede us and being able to incapacitate enemies by twisting their bodies. Maybe even twirl other's attacks around.

After receiving your just rewards the two of you manage to find some lodgings. Turns out bar owners appreciate having their skins saved so he allowed you to rent his rooms. First thing in the morning you raided the general store and prepared for immediate take-off. Some of the townsfolk even watched you take off and wished good luck on your travels. Out on the open sea you chat a little with Jaws, mainly answering his questions but you manage to impress him when you tell him you rowed almost non-stop for seven days before arriving on Coconut Island. After that however you got to business and talked pirate stuff. Much more interesting.

"So before we enter the Grand Line we'll need to procure a few things. A proper ship for starters. This little dingy won't even be able to make the crossing. And it'll get demolished by the weather there. Then we'll need a few more crewmembers. A doctor is a must have as well as a navigator. A chef wouldn't hurt but we can make do without one."

"But why do we need a navigator? You seem to know that stuff."

"I just know the water, where islands are based on the current. I can be a helmsman but we'll need a proper navigator if we don't want to run around like a chicken with its head cut off. But anyway, I've been meaning to ask you something."

"Shoot."

"Can you swim?"

"I can."
He nods as if you just confirmed his suspicion.
"But I don't like to. Hate it when my clothes get wet."

"You're supposed to take them off when you swim."

"I know."

You keep rowing and spot a landmass appearing far away. It's surprising how much faster it is when you're not just going around randomly. You ask Jaws what the island is called but he's as clueless as you are. Yeah you'll need a navigator soon. Picking up the pace you manage to dock in an hour and do so without getting mugged this time. Before heading to port however Jaws stops you.
"I've been thinking about something Silver."

"Yes?"

"You know if we pooled our money together we could buy a decent sized boat. Something with a roof and a sail at the very least. So? How about it? Give me the money and I'll look for something decent for that price."

"Naaah. Keep your money and buy something nice for yourself! Like one of those wench thingies I hear everyone likes. We'll get a proper ship the RIGHT way!"

Jaws seems concerned by what you mean the "right" way but he's nevertheless happy about getting to keep his share of the loot. Following your advice he takes off both to check the town out and to replace his less than acceptable outfit. That actually sounds like a pretty good idea so you do the same with the added difficulty of not being able to read any signs. But how hard could it be to find the right shop? Turns out a bit more complicated than you expected as you got tossed out of one or two stores before finding the right one. Who would've thought there are stores that sell clothing only for women? But you do manage to find a proper tailor who didn't immediately shoo you away.

After asking him for help the tailor brought to you not one but three entire sets in your size. Turns out he has quite a stock since people can have very different bodies. But despite being very friendly you can't help but feel scared around him. Why does he have to wear make-up?
"Okay sweetie! How about you tell me which one you like! Because I just couldn't decide on my own you'd look so cute in any of them!"

The first set is what you always imagined pirates like. A large dark brown coat with matching loose pants, black boots and a tricorne hat.
The second is more dapper, a nicely tailored suit with a fancy shirt, a stylish vest, dress shoes and a bowler hat.
Finally is something more casual. A short sleeved hoodie and regular trousers.
You kind of like each one a little bit but it'd be unnecessary to buy them all. One set is enough. Right?

"I'll pick the suit thanks!"
The tailor delighted with your choice quickly goes ahead and measures you so he can properly adjust it to you. He works remarkably fast and once he's done the outfit feels almost like you're wearing nothing at all. So snug and comfy, not to mention it doesn't limit your movement. Truly a work of art except for one part.
"But I think I'll take this one instead."

You snatch down the tricorne and put the bowler hat back in its place.
"Oooohmygawd darling! You look superb! Nothing like a little personal touch to make the outfit truly unique. You look just so cute in that little costume it's adorable!"
He pinches your cheek and then gives you a little discount for your purchase. It still cost you about 200.000 berry. Even though you don't know how much that means the sheer weight loss of your coinpouch makes it abundantly clear to you that it was a lot. But you still should have enough left to do a bit more shopping. And it would be what the adults always called a business expense.

You thought finding a weapon shop would be even more difficult than finding a clothing store. Apparently not. While there are precious few general stores the town has an abundance of two things: Weapon stores and pizzerias. Strange little town this is. But it's useful nevertheless. Entering the closest one you can find you waste no time picking out a replacement to the old pistol you had from a barrel and pay for it. 50.000 belly sounds a lot but its absence isn't nearly as noticeable as your last expense. And it's not like you need a more expensive one, it's a back-up if anything. Perusing the store however left you feeling excited. So many shiny things on display all looking very fun and not to mention cool to use. But carrying all that would probably slow you down quite a bit. So you promise yourself to only buy one thing for now.

"Can I help you?"
The bored store owner looks up from his newspaper.
"We don't serve kids here y'know."

You walk up to the counter and put your clenched fist on the table before dropping a bunch of bellies on it.
"One weapon please!"

The man puts away his paper and gives you an avaricious smile.
"Well I suppose I can make an exception this time. What do you want?"

You tell him you'd like a sword or something similar to accompany your gun. He looks over the counter and sizes you up before doing anything.
"How much do you have?"

"I had 500.000 but spent 200.000 and then 50.000. That's how much I have."

He takes a short stop and then smiles.
"Well then follow me!"

He takes you on a little tour of his humble shop and presents his wares. You see small swords, big swords, big sticks, long sticks with pointy bits at the end. Who knew there were so many interesting ways to hurt people? But all that variety makes it quite hard to choose.
"Mmmmmmmmm, I guess I want something I can swing with one hand. Something light. Can you recommend something for me?"

"Certainly! Just wait here."
The merchants big nose wiggles with excitement as he's rubbing his hands together. A minute later he returns with something wrapped neatly in cloth. He unveils the strange bundle and shows you a brilliant blade adorned with many engravings and a decorative pommel. He invites you to take a closer look at it, even lets you touch the thing.
"Sharp isn't it?"

You drag your thumb across its edge and wait for the wound to turn red as blood bubbles to the surface.
"Yeap! That's good! Does it have a name?"

"A name? Yes it's called a falchion!"

"Oooooh nice! I'll take it."

The merchant asked for all your money in return. But when you asked him if you could keep some so you can buy food for your journey he was kind enough to take only most of your money. Your pockets feel considerably lighter than before but your spirits are high. Now you look and feel like a proper pirate!
"I wonder how Jaws is doing-

You decide to start searching for your crewmember and share your happiness with him but finding a single person in a town this big won't be easy even if he's a fishman. After walking down many streets you still can't find a clue of his whereabouts. Just as you're about to give up and head back to the boat you hear a woman screaming nearby followed by an angry shout.
"Shut your trap! This doesn't concern you!"
That sounds like something that concerns you.
>>
You walk into the secluded alleyway you heard the scream from and stop as soon as you see what's going on. The pavement and the walls are running red and the sound of heavy objects slamming against meat rings in your ear. Three men in matching suits are surrounding a fourth figure and keep beating him with wooden bats. You don't like this one bit.
"Learned your lesson yet freak?! We don't like your kind around here!"

"Hehe. You and everyone else chum. You're not even the worst of 'em.
Ptooey."
Jaws spat some of his blood at one of the men. He doesn't look pleased that his suit got ruined and bashes the fishman with his bat.

"That'll teach you a lesson about spitting you animal.
Okay boys, I think he's had enough. Don't want a corpse on our hands. Let him crawl back where he came from and warn the others. And if you get another idea fishie, remember who runs this town!"
The men turn around to leave but they bump into you as you attempt to stare a hole in their chests.
"You got a deathwish or something kid? Get lost!"

Murray looks up and his tired eyes spark up with life. He looks like he tries to call your name but he bites his own tongue to stop himself.
"N-No. Don't do it!"
After that brief glance at him you turn your attention back to the men in front of you.

"What's wrong shorty? Something the matter? What's with that look?"

"I don't like you."

"You hear that fellas? He doesn't like us! And what are you gonna do about it eh? Speak fast before we break your kneecaps boy."

"What you did to my first mate."

"SILVER NO!"

The one talking to you tries to speak up but before he has a chance to utter a word you quickly draw your pistol and without any warning point it at his belly and pull the trigger. The point blank shot makes him fall on his back as the other two quickly scamper. One raises his bat obviously to swat you with it but you're quicker on your feet and draw your newly acquired blade. Unceremoniously you slice the back of his knee with the curved blade. When he falls on his hand you position the falchion in front of his neck while as you move behind him. Still gripping the handle of the falchion with one hand you use the other to grab the blade and pull on it as hard as you can. Blood gushes out of the mans neck like from a tapped keg. Luckily your new clothes were not too tarnished by this little act but a bit of blood did sprinkle on them.

But as you stand up after finishing off the second guy you see the last one standing in place and completely frozen. You fully expected him to try and kill you. Lucky. Casually walking up to him with your gun pointed at him you tell him to drop his weapon and he obliges.
"Now then. What to do with you-"

As you're considering the possibilities Jaws stands up and groans.
"Stupid boy. You shouldn't have done that!"
You're confused by this. They hurt him after all.
"I could take it. I'm a fishman remember? I'm much stronger and hardier than a human. This is nothing. But we're in big trouble now."

"T-That's right!"
The cowardly man nods.
"You're in it deep now! The boss-"
You cock your gun and make him shut up.

"What's wrong Jaws?"

"The West Blue is dangerous Silver! Gangs, families and other criminal organizations are everywhere. We'll never reach the Grand Line if they make our lives a living hell!"

"Jaws. I may not know a whole lot but I know one thing: Pirates don't care. And we are pirates.
Criminals? Bring them on. Bring them all. We just have to show them who rules the seas!"
You're not sure which one is about to call you crazy Jaws or the guy you're aiming a gun at but it doesn't matter. Better drive the message home.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for curved swords but katanas are abundant in OP and other media
I was also considering a kopis or a yataghan but those felt too short
Luckily not only katanas can have names or curses so we have options. Besides, stick with something in One Piece long enough and it will become op as fuck on its own

I don't know bro, OPBP got kinda gay on account of the QM being a fujo.
They forbid any and all forms of romance.
Also the whole getting the lightning fruit by brutally murdering Enel and then just coincidentally finding and eating it accidentally.
Also they unceremoniously killed off my nigga Crocodile.
Also Kid, if we're talking about unceremoniously killing off characters the QM disliked.
>>
>>4462529
Oh wait, I say any and all forms of romance.
I mean
Any and all forms of waifuing.
I'm pretty sure we were being encouraged to fuck men.

I'm thinking of updating the pastebins with a few more tidbits of information as well as the stats. Also maybe the stats giving flat boosts to rolls involving them would work better. Less clogging up the thread that way. Like if you have a level in strength you get a +1 to your lowest roll involving it at all times. And only the special abilities at later levels need player input. Will post soon

>>4462571
Adding stuff to the suit sounds fun, like displaying your accolades. Only issue is that you're still very young and growing. But clothes in OP are nebulous enough to say that it'll grow with you

>>4462637
>>4462646
The MC is 15 years old so waifuing would mean pedophilia.
But I don't know. I think I handled Kaizars relationship way back in the day rather well sans Neliel whom I could've handled better but hey, live and learn. Also it meant we got supreme shark maiden and that made me happy

God damn, I was archive binging that one and thought it was funny as fuck. Does it really get super bad?

While I don't think the quest was complete shit, The MC was easily the worst part of Bounty Photographer, with the players constantly trying to metagame everything being a close second.

I kinda feel like the MC is the best part. He's like a saturday morning newspaper comic character, he either gets shat on hard or floors everyone with something eye roll worthy. Could do without the constant metagaming though, yeah.

>>4462746
I'm down for devil fruit.
>>
>>4462794
It was fun at first, but goddamn did it get unbearable, especially with the Conqueror Haki bullshit and being related to Big Mom and the Donquixote family.
>>
>>4462803
>Conqueror Haki bullshit
Do tell because I'm definitely interested in using CH myself
>>
>>4462818
The QM said that if we managed to bank a total of (I think) 10 crits, then we could spend it to get CH. Well, it happened, and IIRC during our 'duel' with Mihawk we got stabbed and used CH to not pass out like a bitch.

Then we got drunk and Mihawk kidnapped us and made us dress up as a crow, which was honestly the best part of the entire quest.
>>
>>4462825
I still wish we had spent the crits on the bird zoan for Noodle.
>>
>>4462818
Oh wait yeah.
The MC who was constantly shit on and treated like a harmless retard (granted he did act like a retard.)
Here's a few things that make him stand out...
>All three types of Haki unlocked before Luffy even heard the term
>Enel's lightning fruit
>Skill using all sorts of fucky weapons
>A fucking backpack full of dials
>Was Big Mon's grandson
>Was Doflamingo's nephew
>Captured Ace through sheer good luck
>He's a D.
>Almost captured every single strawhat to the point they needed Dragon to bail them out.
>Continually defeated Zoro in fights.
He was basically the ultimate metagamey meme fuckhead.
He was meant to be a photographer.

>He's a D.
That’s so dumb it’s hilarious
>>
>>4462874
That's not what I'm astonished by. Why would you give the players the ABILITY to unlock Conquerors Haki AT FUCKING ALL? Let alone with crits used as currency?
>>
>>4462878
Wait... That makes Corazon his father. Who's the mother?
And how in the ever burning asshole of Magellan can a Celestial Dragon be a D?
>>
>>4462879
They didn't want to, but the players begged for it. The bird zoan I mentioned was one their many attempts to persuade anons not to get it.
>>
>>4462882
Mom was an OC Charlotte who had a one night stand with Rosinante. Mom then gave Flashman up for adoption and he ended up joining the marines because all he had to remember his father was his marine compass.
>>
>>4462882
MC was an orphan so we never got to meet the parents. QM decided he was a D because of all the crits we got but I think it was just a joke.
>>
>>4462874

Yeah literally everything mentioned in >>4462830 was the result of a roll
>>
>>4462830
We also reunited Ace and Luffy with Sabo, who just happened to be in Water 7 at the same time as us.

Oh, and because we captured Ace, Garp strong-armed Ace into becoming a shichibukai so that he could help Luffy against Crocodile.
>>
>>4462883
>>4462893
My only question is why was an OC necessary? There is almost 100 Charlottes with plenty of variety between them.

>>4462897
Probably a joke. D's aren't or shouldn't be immune to rotten luck. Just look at Traffy. Boy couldn't get more shafted if he shambled a few vaginas onto his own body

>>4462933
That's just plain weird
I guess I'll still read the thing as some people are remembering it fondly
>>
>>4462939
>why was an OC necessary?
So that the MC could be a D. of course.
It wasn't a joke.
It was totally serious.
>>
>>4462945
What? I only remember them saying it as a joke after we got 2 nat 100s on the same roll or something. I don't remember them saying the mother OC was a D either.
>>
>>4462950
There was proper discussion about it.
Because he was a D. it also means that the Snake that he named D. was also an official D.
>>
>>4462956
Wasn't that just the fake name we picked?
>>
>>4462960
Nope, it was a fake name but the MC was actually a D.
So the middle name in their fake name was legit.
>>
>>4462961
I checked the archive and you're right. QM decided that grandpa must be a D after the crit that captured Ace.
>>
I've never read or watched One Piece, but I've been reading this quest and have been able to follow along with my very basic knowledge of things, and so far I've liked it. Might actually start reading because of this.
>>
>>4462990
All I gotta say is that Bounty Photographer was a hilarious and wild ride but not necessarily a good quest. Still bummed it just died out of nowhere but the players themselves were constantly teetering between maximum simping and absolute shittery.

Maybe the good end was the dads we made along the way.
>>
>>4463058
I'm with this anon desu, I enjoyed it for the time i was apart of it and despite all the events mentioned here alot of the reasons for success and the events occurring were the high rolls even in Dcs where success was or should've been near impossible, like the Ace thing.

Also as an aside its turn it was great since the original intent was a serious quest with a mook mc taking pictures and maybe doing some intrigue behind the scenes iirc

Jamming the barrel of your flintlock under the guys ribs you start addressing him.
"Drop the bat. Good. Now listen. I protect my crew. You hurt him and this is what happened. Now go and tell your boss what you saw. What I did. I want to know if he'll do the same or if he's a coward sitting behind others!"

You pull the gun away and motion him to move. When he refuses you pull the cock back and he starts running like hell. Jaws then berates you for what happened.
"You just killed two of them. Why let this one go? And what convinced you to taunt their boss?! I was fine. But now-"
By raising your hand you stop Jaws from saying another word. Despite claiming to be alright he's still bleeding which worries you.

"But now we'll get you patched up and handle things from there. Let's find a safe place first."
>Good idea: Knowledge+

He looks like he's about to retort but after a wince and a nervous clutch of his still bleeding wound he relents.
"Alright. In that case I think I've seen a-"

But before he could tell you of the place he found every door, window and sewer lid in the entire street bursts open with men, women and children all dressed in fancy suits poking out of them and aiming guns at you.
"THERE THEY ARE! SHOOT 'EM FELLAS!"

"AIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!"
You screech alongside Jaws and turn tail IMMEDIATELY. Running as fast as you can you scream at the fishman whilst your tears are like two open taps.
"WHERE DID THEY ALL COME FROM?!"

Non too pleased by this Jaws starts shouting your heads off, stating that this is what he wanted to warn you about all this time.
"You idiot! This is "Gang Town"! Why do you think there are so many pizza places? Or why I struggled with buying anything? Almost EVERY family here is a family of MOBSTERS! And the one, ONE FAMILY you just had to piss off is the one that has all the others under control! "
He screams as a hail of bullets flies past you and adjusts your haircuts.

"Then what are we gonna do now?!"
Your scream in hopelessness.

"Over there! GET TO THAT CHURCH!"

You keep running and almost reach the doors of the chapel before one of the mobsters fires off a cannonball which explodes near your legs and sends you flying. The massive doors open as you crash face first into them and roll on the floor knocking over many pews. Jaws fared a bit better since he's a big guy for you and he manages to slam the doors shut. You keep low and wait for the sound of gunfire but it doesn't come. The doors are perfectly fine and for a moment it looks like you're safe.
"They aren't firing? Why?"

"Even the mob has standards. They wouldn't shoot up a church. I uh, I think."

You glance out one of the stained glass windows and see the mafiosos encircling you guns trained at every angle in case you get cute and try to leave. Sliding down against the wall you start laughing quite heartily.
"Kekekekek! Well I did it now didn't I?"

Murray beats you over the head.
"DON'T BE PROUD OF THAT!"

But as you exchange blows the sound of your commotion attracts an unwanted "guest".
"E-Erm, excuse me but what are you two doing in here? I'm afraid we're not holding any sermons at the moment and the church is off limits to visitors. P-Please leave!"
Jaws stops pulling on your cheeks and you start kicking him in the stomach for a moment to look at her.

Clapping your hands together you bow down and ask her with as much emotion as you can muster, to your utter surprise she kneels down beside him and starts observing his wounds closely.

"H-How horrible. I, please forgive me! This is so unforgivable."
She leaves and returns from further in with a small box with a red cross on it containing various ointments and bandages.
"Please let me help. I'm no doctor but the least I can do is bandage you up!"

Jaws doesn't know what to make of this.
"Why are you helping us? Isn't this how things go around here? From what the locals told me I thought this is the norm."

"No. It used to be a lot less... brutal back in the day. But since that pirate showed up things changed. Friendly rivalries turned into blood feuds, minor offenses into major grudges. Worst I had to treat back in the day were bruises from a bar fight or kiss boo boos. Nowadays I never run out of medical supplies. The ones that get beaten up now need burials and not medical attention."
She finishes applying oils to the wounds of Jaws and bandaging them.
"There. It's not much but I staunched the flow of blood. Now come with me. I'll show you a way out. There are some underground tunnels leading to the catacombs. You can escape from there and-"

"Sorry sister but we're not interested in leaving. We picked a fight and now we finish it. Captains orders."

"C-C-C-C-Captain?!"

"But if you want to help I'd be interested in that."
Jaws points at the opposite of yours where a large statue stands, holding a massive anchor and chain in its hands. The nun is slowly piecing together things and starts mumbling about how you can't take it. That it's a sacred relic belonging to a patron saint of sailors.
"Well we're pirates. So I guess that means we qualify. Or, do you want us to not clean up this town?"

The shaky nun becomes quite serious upon hearing those words.
"Fine. Take it! May it protect you on your journey."

"Heh. "Protect". That's the last thing this anchor is going to do."

With the anchor torn from the statue Jaws heads for the front door. The nun doesn't get what he's doing so she's trying to stop him. But her cries fall on deaf ears.
"Sorry for getting us in this mess Captain. Now let me fix it and earn my keep."

Jaws kicks down the door and steps out into the light where the dozens of armed men are waiting for him. They still don't open fire because of the church behind him which Murray fully intends to use and abuse. But they still try threaten him into submission with promises of a "quick death". Jaws just smiles at this and begins swinging the chained anchor around like a flail.
"Fishman Karate: Tetsunami!"

He throws out the well spun anchor and as it's flung far out it carves a half circle out in front of Jaws. As the anchor moves it sends out a large wave of uprooted tiles, dirt and stone which sends at least twenty of the mobsters flying. The ones that weren't hit quickly run in to see what happened and become terrified. They pick up their fallen comrades and run back to the streets and alleyways they came from. Jaws then sighs with relief.
"Thank god they left. Finally we have some breathing room."

"MURRAY! That was Jawsome! How did you do that?"

"I'll tell you later. For now we should focus on preparing for the actual enemy attack and not just the townies getting mad at us. Plus I don't think those ones will care much about a church being in the way."

"Oh yeah, you're right-"

Without saying another word you rush ahead and start ransacking the place for anything heavy but movable. By breaking and entering into the nearby pizza places you manage to get yourself more than a few tables, chairs and cabinets which you proceed to pile into the nearby streets alongside any market stalls or carts that come your way. Jaws grins after realizing what you're doing and decides to join by tossing random stuff he finds into your piles. Unfortunately while you have enough junk to completely a few of the streets leading to the square you're on but not all of them. Jaws even makes an attempt to break the nearby walls with his anchor to make some debris but by the time he makes any real progress he's too late. Oh well at least you won't be backstabbed as easily now seeing how the only paths open are in front of you.

A large crowd of black suits pours in armed with all manner of guns and various big bats, usually spiked ones. But to your surprise they don't start immediately gunning you down and instead the primary group splits down the middle and allowing a small red headed figure to pass alongside the guy you let go before. The one you presume to be a boss is dragging a wooden bat behind himself and it makes a quite thwack every time it hits the ground. They also seem to be juggling a single softball in their other hand.
"So, these are the guys that did you in-"
Their voice is higher pitched than you expected. Guess his balls are small.
"Guess it serves you right. Maybe next time make sure the boy you're about to bully doesn't have a fucking fishman guarding him."

"B-b-b-but boss! It was the kid!"

"HA?"
They look very annoyed judging by their look and the fact that they started beating the poor guy to death, drawing an unusually high amount of blood with a blunt weapon.
"YOU IDIOTS! You think this is a fucking GAME?! You can't handle a KID?!"
Once the last of the guys gray matter is beaten out of him the boss turns to you.
"I swear you can't get a decent crew nowadays without a bunch of idiots joining in as well. Sorry about all this, those guys really deserved to die but, can't really let you leave now can I? My reputation is hanging in the balance."

"You are-"
You speak up.

"Oh? You know me? Indeed it is I! The legendary former pirate Marcella "Blood Hair"-

"A girl?"

The boss faceplants and starts shouting angrily.
"REALLY?! Okay! That's it! You'll die just for that! BOYS! GET THEM!"
With a whistle she sacks her men at you.

considering there are distinct logai fruits of similar nature, like snow/ice or, to a lesser extent, fire/magma, could a mist fruit work as an offshoot of the smoke fruit, or would it be too much overlap?

I don't think so. Smoke comes from fire, mist comes from water and leaves moisture.
That alone is more difference than what's between snow and ice
It's just that Smokers logia might be the most basic bitch one of the bunch which offers little more than the standard logia intangibility

"Half and half, Captain?"

"You know it. Only fair that way!"

"Gyogyogyo! Damn right!"
Jaws laughs before taking a deep breath and shouting.
"BRING IT ON YOU SCUM!"

The two of you let out a powerful battlecry and charge into the thick of things, anchors swinging and swords drawn. People keep flocking in and they get pushed back, their bats shattered under the weight of the anchor or get cut by your falchion. Climbing up Jaws' back you use him as a springboard to jump into the crowd and do as much damage as possible. While slashing away you draw your gun and start firing into the crowd with your free hand. Meanwhile Jaws is not slacking off either.

"Fishman Karate: Hyakumaigawara Seiken."
As he punches one particularly unfortunate soul he flies into five of his buddies, all of whom get knocked on their asses and don't get up.

"Aw man! I want cool moves as well! Alright! Let's do it!
Definitelydidnotmakethisuprightnow STAB!"
After impaling a guy in front of you with a running start his friends call you out on your bullshit and how that's not a proper technique but fuck them. It felt good! And it's definitely having an effect. Even though you occasionally get batted over the head or back the enemy is getting steadily dismantled. So much so that they are quickly loosing morale, some are even backing away which irritates their boss quite a bit.

"Stop running away and just SHOOT THEM already!"

"B-But boss we'd be hitting our mates!"

"So you'd rather have them get hit by those two? MUST I DO EVERYTHING MYSELF?"
The guy next to her asks what she means but when he sees her readying the baseball in her hand he starts running and screaming. When the others hear his shriek they also start dispersing quite quick in a fit of panic, giving her a clean view of you. You don't see the attack coming but hear a loud THWACK as she hits the ball with her bat.
"BAIT BALL!"

Hearing her shout her attack you quickly grab a guy lying around and bring him up to block the ball for you. You expected for it to hit hard but definitely not hard enough to knock you over. The dude you used as a shield screams like a pig in a slaughterhouse and you feel something warm as you manage to throw him off you. Touching down there you see that your hand is red. Blood. A quick glance to the side reveals that his stomach area is a deep shade of red.
"What is this?"

"Tch. He's good. No matter. Next! BAIT BALL!"

"JAWS WATCH OUT!"

The ball hits him in the shoulder despite your warning but it doesn't bother him too much. The attack he was preparing got stopped but that's about it. He winces a little though as he reaches for the ball still clinging to him.
"That stings."
But as he tries to remove the thing he finds out he can't as it comes with an unimaginable amount of pain. So he leaves it be as it hurts less that way. He then sees a few more balls coming his way but he uses his anchor to block them. Oddly enough they also stick to the metal weight. Scowling he turns to you.
"SILVER! WE HAVE TO WRAP THIS UP QUICK!"

Nodding you pick up your pace. Jumping in front of a guy you holster your gun and proceed to beat him with your bare hands. One punch in the stomach, one in the jaw, then you point at his face and laugh as his teeth fall out to the utter horror of his friends. Your increasingly savage treatment of your foes coupled with the immense strength of Jaws manages to strike fear in the hearts of your enemies and they start retreating, even leaving behind their injured teammates. The boss is none too pleased about this.
"COWARDS! GET BACK HERE THIS INSTANT! Now look what you did! These men had friends and family! And I'll have to make examples out of them now because of you."

"Good idea. They'll need all the positive encouragement they can get after today!"
She looks at you with a troubled, uncomfortable glare like that of a man who must explain to his paraplegic daughter that her dreams of becoming a ballerina will never come true.

"Don't take her lightly Silver. This woman. I think she may be a Devil Fruit user."

"What's that?"

"It means she's very dangerous and has abilities nobody else does."

"Powers huh? That sounds cool! She's mine!"

"You sure?"

"Ye! Go and rest your wound. And stop anybody who'd try to sneak up on us."

"Roger."

As Jaws goes back to sit down beside the church you look at Marcella and grin. She doesn't seem to impressed.
"So you really are the one calling the shots. I have no idea why that big guy listens to you but after I beat you he should be no probelm right?"

"Yeah sure, let's say that."

"Good!"
She tosses up another ball and swings at it as hard as she can.
"BAIT BALL!"

The ball is fast but not so fast that you can't see it. Drawing your sword you turn it to the side and hit it with the flat side.
"Aaaand Touchdown!"
But instead of the ball flying back it sticks to your sword. No matter how hard you wiggle it the ball stays attached. Even when grabbing it with your hand you can't pry it off.
"Eh, what what what?"

"Heh. Sucker!
Ball! Ball! BALL!"

Three more are coming fast. And something tells you that you shouldn't touch these balls or even try to dodge them. Better be safe and block them. Swinging your sword around you catch each one in a similar manner but now that means there are a total of four balls glued to your sword, making it quite unwieldy. She still has a pile of them that her men brought for her convenience. As she tries to reach for another one you get an idea. Dropping your heavy sword you grab an unconscious maffioso and use him as a human shield while charging her.

Seeing this she doesn't try to shoot balls at you anymore and instead prepares for a good old fashioned scrap, pulling her bat back and charging up a mighty swing. Dropping the knocked out guy you make your attack which is exactly what she was waiting for.
"Bait Beat!"

She swings but doesn't hit anything substantial, her bat simply collides with the your suit which you took off and threw out to divert her attention. Going under her bat you dive in head first and headbutt her above the groin which sends her tumbling backwards. It doesn't take her too long to get back up but she's visibly very frustrated as she's trying to pull your tangled suit off her bat.

"Kekekek! I saw your trick! Pretty interesting"

"My... trick?"

"Yeah! I saw the hooks on the balls! Pretty nasty."

"Sasasasasa! Is that so? How interesting! Now I'm starting to see why the fishman is following you!
Yes! I am Marcella Pesca and I ate the Baito-Baito no Mi! I am a bait woman!"
She raises her wooden bat and magically dozens of metal fishhooks sprout from it.
"I can conjure hooks on anything! And once you take the bait it won't let go until I let it!

Marcella starts moving her shoulders around in circles, making them pop and crackle while she's also stretching her legs. Giving you a vicious grin she speaks up.
"Now I'll show you brat! I'll show you how a real pirate fights!"

Out of nowhere she jumps towards a nearby building. With a simple touch she sticks to it with her free hand and feet as hooks sprout from them. Then she jumps at you and smacks you across the face with her bat. Luckily the bat itself, now covered in many hooks doesn't get stuck in you. Perhaps because this way she can keep jumping from place to place and continue to beat you up without leaving her weapon behind. You bear her assault and the pain that comes with the repeated strikes while watching her movements carefully. As she winds up for a particularly powerful swing you prepare yourself and jump out of its way at the last moment making her roll past you.

She stands up with a look of satisfaction on her face as she swings her blood drenched bat over her shoulder.
"How's that you little shrimp? We could've ended this nicely, you could've groveled before my feet and I would've let you join my gang! But now I'll take my time to rip you apart!"

"Maaan... Fish-man Karate and now Devil Fruits. The sea has a lot more stuff than I expected."
You grin.

"I CAN'T WAIT to get some cool abilities like that!"

"E-E-Eh? Y-You think this is fun? Grrrrrr, we'll see how long can you keep smiling when I beat you within an inch of your life twerp!"

"BAIT BOUNCER!"

She begins that weird attack of hers again and her barrage of strike showers down on you from almost every angle. Though you can read her movement right now all you do is brace yourself, grit your teeth and take it. You got other plans now. It takes time, time and guts waiting for the perfect opportunity as she keeps bashing your kneecaps, hitting you over the head and battering your arms but it does come. Breaking your guard you reach for the bat as she swings and manage to grab hold of it. Your grip is hard like iron despite the barbed hooks digging into the palm of your flesh. Meanwhile Marcellas speed remains and she darts past you as her weapon slips out of her hand. She lands face first on the ground before bouncing back and wiping her face clean.

"Blast! Huh? You'll pay for that!"
She looks at you and points her palm in your direction. You feel the hooks change in your hand, they are definitely stuck in there now in accordance with her will.
"There! How does it feel? Bet it's not very nice! So what are you gonna do now? You're down one arm."

"And you're down a bat!"

"So? I don't need a bat to kill you!"

"Well, uh, hum. If you don't behave I'm not giving it back to you!"

She blinks a few times before breaking out in tears.
"Oh no batty! What am I going to do without him? HOW OLD DO YOU THINK I AM?!"
She picks up a pebble and throws it at your head.

You grab the grip with your free hand because you're pretty sure she can't make new hooks appear unless she's touching the thing and raise the bat over your knee?"
"You sure?"
She face palms herself and groans in frustration, questioning how she got tangled up with an idiot like you.
"O~kay!"

Slamming down your leg you bring down the bat to snap it in half. You roar and shout as you put all your strength behind the act. But you abruptly stop when she screams at you to stop. Guess your dumb plan did work after all. Neat.

"First you have to retire from gang leadership! And you have to apologize to the town. Everyone you hurt. No exceptions! Then-"
But as you keep going you notice something strange. Her face is very odd. Despite begging you to not do anything to her precious bat she still looks very, very mad. So much so that she's shaking with anger to the point that you think she'll attack you regardless. Yet she doesn't even though the shaking gets more and more intense until even Jaws sees it. She raises her hand to her face and covers her eyes as she looks up. She can no longer hold herself back.

"shit"
Her voice cracks and she sniffles once.
"Shit."

The hooks dislodge from your hand and disappear alongside everything else that was stapled together by her ability including the ball on Jaws' shoulder. But rather than paying that any mind you focus on Marcella as she sobs. First she tries to fight it but it only ends up sounding even worse as her voice cracks every time she chokes on her own mewling. Finally her legs give out and she collapses where she stands, still looking up at the sky and repeating the same curse over and over again.
"I-I don't believe this! N-Not again! I don't want to loose everything again! N-Not to this twerp! I-I just want to win ONCE! But NO! First that, that, BWAAA!"

You don't know why but you walk up to her.
"Hey...
What happened to you?"

"H-He took it! He took everything from me! My friends, my crew, my dream! My life as a pirate. And now I'm loosing everything again!"

They took everything from her? That's a problem. You can no longer bring yourself to harm her. Instead you extend an arm to her.
"Hey. Come on. Take my hand!"

"QUITE SCREWING WITH ME!"
She slaps your hand away.

No helping it. You have to do this the hard way. Forcefully you abduct her by carrying her on your back.
"Come on. Let's go and have some pizza. You'll feel better afterwards."

"HEY! SILVER!
Just what are you doing?!"

You take her to the closest pizza place that seems to be still open and demand not one but several pizzas. As soon as they arrive Marcella begins shoveling them into her mouth whilst struggling with her tears. You place the bat near her and spot several names etched into them. You don't bother asking questions from her until she's marginally calmed down.
"So what happened?"

"A-a... pirate. His name was Capone Bege. He came up to us and said he's looking for allies. I liked his attitude and we both had the same style so I thought... why not? We traveled for a while together and it was all fine. But the second we let our guards down they stabbed us in the back. My officers- my... friends all got killed. I was the only one left and the rest of my crew turned on me. They betrayed me so Bege would spare them. I lost everything. My ship, my mates and all my treasure. I only barely survived because I managed to swim to shore."
She rolls her bat around so she can see the names on it.
"Tommy, Luca and Jimmy... those were their names."

"And you wanted to use the families of Gang Town to make a new crew."
Jaws observes.

"That's right. But I lost again. This time to a kid. So you know what? I'm done. I give up. Do as you wish. I don't care anymore."

You let out a grin.
"Do as I wish? Okay! Then I wish that you joined my crew!"

"WHAT?"
Both Marcella and Jaws shout in disbelief.
"What damage do you have? See? Even he/she agrees!"
And they just keep going.

"Kekekek! You said you don't care right? That you give up on making a crew. So why not join one? I want to do a whole bunch of stuff so I'm sure we'll get around to achieving your dream as well! Hell maybe we can find that Bege guy and kick him in the peepee!"

"As much as I HATE all of this Silver is right about one thing. You failed in your quest. But he did just beat you. That means you'd have better chances with him. And if my suspicions are correct he'll definitely cross paths with that pirate you just mentioned."

You stand up happily patting the back of both of them.
"Kekekek! Then it's decided! I'll go get some more pizza to celebrate!"

As you leave the two of them continue talking.
"Why do you follow him? I thought I figured it out but it's impossible. You're a fish-man. And I bet you're much stronger than him."

"My reasoning wouldn't matter to you. But... I think I can show you something. If you're willing to stick around for a bit."

"Where could I even go?"

After getting some more food you sit down with the others and actually get to eat this time. This pizza is a strange food and burns when you eat it but it's quite good. Marcellas goons came up and she disbanded them right on the spot. Some were relieved, some were sad but oddly enough not a whole lot of them held a grudge against you for killing their mates. Apparently not a whole lot of people liked them. Most of them left right after that but some stayed to throw a little party to send off their boss. You didn't join in because you were tired and went back to the church to get your wounds treated. The good nun was kind enough to let both of you stay in the church for the night so you could at least get a good rest.
>>
The next morning you're rudely awoken very early by your trusty first mate. You don't want to wake up so you keep pretending to sleep even as he drags your ass out of the church and onto the beach. He explains to you that he already did the necessary prep work for you to leave such as buying food and a few other essential supplies but he has a matter which he'd like to discuss with you. From the corner of your eye you see that Marcella is watching you from quite far away.
"Silver. You should know that the sea is not a nice place. If we keep going like this we'll face many hardships and things much worse than Marcella. Get where I'm going with this?"
You nod.
"Good. Then I'll get to the point. I'd like to teach you a bit. I prepared several things but I'd like you to pick what you want. There's no pressure. I may not be a great teacher but we'll have plenty of time to go over everything sooner or later. So what is it that you're interested in?"

"Well that neat trick you did with the anchor was pretty cool! I wouldn't mind to learn how to do that."

"Gyogyogyo. So you liked fishman karate huh? Well can't say I blame you. But there is a problem though. You see it's called Fishman Karate for a reason. We made it for ourselves. I highly doubt a human could learn it and even if you could it probably won't be nearly as good as the real deal. You just don't have the bits to properly use it. But learning how to fight properly would benefit you!"
Dropping the anchor by his side Jaws raises his fists.
"This is how you start. Remember that! Main hand back, off-hand forward like this!"

It takes you a while to perfectly copy his stance as you have to constantly adjust the position of your torso, legs and even arms but eventually you get it with a little bit of help from Jaws. Once your posture is correct he instructs you to throw a punch and return to it just so you can assume it at any time. You practice it for half an hour at the very least before Jaws is satisfied. And only after you demonstrated the ability to return to the stance from any position does he start actually describing WHAT fishman karate even is and how to use it.

"The most important rule of Fishman Karate is that you don't hit your opponent."

"But-"

"No. What you want to hit is water. Look at the sea, that's water. But there is more of it. In the air, in your body. There is water everywhere. The key to this fighting style is to hit the water to make waves in it, even if that water is in the air. You won't be able to hit the water in the air for a while but if you manage to hit the water in your enemy then they'll feel it. Now let me show you how. This will be the most fundamental of your skills, the one from all others stem from: Hyakumaigawara Seiken or Hundred Tile True Punch. It's very basic but if done correctly you could, as the name says break 100 tiles at once."
He demonstrates the motion of the punch to you.
"Okay. Now hit me with it. That way I'll know if you pulled it off. And remember to yell its name when you use it."

"BRICK PUNCH!"
You hit Jaws in the gut and he almost spits his teeth out as he's sent backward a few paces. Once he comes to a stop he takes a while to catch his breath and recover from his shock.

"T-That was good! Yeah! Totally. Oh fuck I wasn't prepared. Still that was more like 50 tiles but... good progress Silver! I need to sit down now."
>>
Your fishy friend leaves you and goes to talk with Marcella.
"And that is the reason. Silver is not the strongest, nor the quickest and certainly not the smartest. But there is a certain hunger in him. He goes out of his way to find adventure, to eat food, to meet people. He's an empty vessel that wants to be filled. Make no mistake. He'll grow."

Nodding Marcella leaves Murray to lick his wounds and comes up to you.
"Okay. I made my decision. I'll join your little crew. But I'm not your slave and I can leave whenever I want. Got a problem with that?"

"Erm, I thought that was already settled."

"NO IT WASN'T!"
She does a karate chop on your head to put you in your place.
"Anyway I don't have much stuff to pack, got nothing I want to bring aside my bat. So unless you got something to do I'm ready to depart."

"Well I wanted to thank the nice lady that helped us and say goodbye to her. So give me a minute. Also I'll think about your name on the way so don't you worry!"

"Name?"

You leave her behind and run to the chapel. Apologizing for barging in you call out for the nun. It takes a while for her to come out as apparently she was treating some of the men that were wounded yesterday. She's wearing a bloodstained apron which she promptly discards before talking to you.
"Ah Silver! Good morning!"

"Everything alright?"

"It's hard to say. But thanks to you maybe things will calm down a little. I heard Marcella would be leaving with you. Good. I hate to say this but even if the families keep fighting things will be much better without her around. But enough about that. How are your wounds? Do you need your bandages changed?"

"Heh. I'm fine but thanks! A few bandages and a good nights sleep is all I need. I just came because I wanted to thank you for all your help! And the beds! Out of both beds that I tried this was the best! And I wanted to say bye before we left."

"I'm glad you liked them. It was the least I could do! And that's very thoughtful of you. But before you do may I ask a favor? Would you pray with me? I think it'd be a very nice way of closing this chapter of the towns history!"

"Pray? What's that?"

The sister claps her hands together and looks happy. She tells you about this guy called God who sounds super awesome. Apparently he's the very strongest and he knows everything that's going on. And people can talk with him by kneeling down and putting their hands together. It sounds neat so you try it by following the nuns instructions and kneel down next to her.
"There there. Now please, speak your mind and God shall listen."

"Cool! Can't wait to talk with this guy! Okay so, hello God. I'm uh, I'm Silver. I used to have a real name but it got taken away. Anyway I tried helping the town and I heard you like that sort of stuff. But you may already know this so, if it's okay I'd like to ask you a question since you know everything. Could you tell me what happened to mama and papa? I lost them when I was very young. I always thought they are dead but I just don't know. I-If it's not a big thing could you tell me how are they? It doesn't matter if they aren't alive. I'd just like to know..."
No answer comes. You stay there and wait a while longer but the silence just doesn't break and so you stand up.
"Well I guess someone as important as God might be busy. Doesn't matter, I'll just ask him later. Erm, sister. Why are you crying? Did I do it that badly?"

"No it's, it's nothing."
>>
She cleans her eyes with a handkerchief before continuing.
"I'm really sorry for what happened your parents Silver."

"That's okay. It happened a long time ago."

"Exactly how long?"

"Don't remember. But I was very small. I lost them at sea. I can't recall much else. Anyway thanks for showing this to me sister, I can't promise I'll do this all the time but I'll try talking with god from time to time."

"That's quite okay. And please just call me Ann. No need for formalities."

While that's technically true there is also the fact that Marcella is kinda the reason why the town went to shit in her opinion. So taking her along right now may have caused some tension

>>4467426
>>4467433
I have some ideas that have her as a centerpiece so there's a high chance of her returning later with some upgrades. Either that or I find a surrogate
>>
More fruit ideas!
Glitch glitch fruit. Makes someone into an error man. Either voluntarily or involuntarily, I'd the user touches something or someone, the touched subject will experience an error in whatever action it's performing.muacles contort in weird ways, swords that are sharp enough to slice diamond now can't cut for crap. Boats will take on water even if they have no holes, like a sponge.
Other devil fruits will mess up in special ways.
Since it's not confirmed yet is an air/wind logia on the table, or is it safe to say that's taken with regards to the cannon of this quest?
>>
>>4468377
Man fuck phone posting. I swear I'm not esl
>>
>>4468377
That error fruit sounds interesting but maybe it's a bit much. I'll write it down nonetheless
I'll consider the Wind fruit as a possibility since it wasn't stated that Dragon has it and I'm willing to bet Oda will want to pull a Kaku with it and give him something completely different
>>
>>4468568
Could probably be toned down so that it only acts once on a target before having to reset and its effects are minor enough to not drastically alter capabilities but allow for plausible mistakes to happe.

Like the boat doesn't become Mr. Clean's Ocean Absorbing device but instead some of the binding or sealant between boards comes out and water starts to seep through. Something aberrant occurs but not something completely ridiculous. Cuts come out of alignment so they don't bite so deep. Shoes get slick or pebbles appear underfoot. A roofing shingle comes loose. Unfortunate accident type deals. Until it gets awakened and people start feeling like the Norns are out there giving them a wedgie.

Senor(ita) Fuckup wandering the seas inconveniencing people one error at a time. But that's my headcanon on Anon's idea.

It sounds like a pretty neat idea though I'll give him that.

>>4468645
It absolutely is a great idea. Turning someone into Mr Bean essentially is cool. But it would require a lot of work to implement
And I don't think it's fit for a protag. A villain though...
>>
>>4468377
Did some more brainstorming. Tries thinking up mythical zoans. Thought a fairy fruit and a venue fruit could exist. They would probably have models though, like pixel and ifrit. Don't know what they would so mechanically since the fey and djinn are known for warping reality, and may be a bit broken.
Also, had some thoughts about paramecia concerning similar devil fruit effects. Simply put, buggy and law have devil fruit powers that work very similarly, but buggy can only spilts his person, while law can split his environment. I saw something like this in the pair of big mom and brook as well. Brook can move his soul out of his body as he likes, and big mom can move other souls around her evironment freely. To sum up, would devil fruits that mess with one's surroundings work even if they're like another confirmed Fruit. Like a bounce bounce fruit that can make solid surfaces elastic and rubbery
>>
>>4469936
Also forgot to mention with the other zoans, but a werewolf zoan could also exist if it can stand out from the basic wolf zoan.
>>
>>4469936
To say that Law and Buggy have similar fruits is almost insulting simply because the Ope Ope no Mi is the most broken bullshit there is. It doesn't just let you split someone, it lets you "Operate" on someone, and imagine the biggest quotation marks there. Basically he can do things like electrocute someone or make a fucking X-ray knife
But yeah a fruit that can make other objects bouncy or even turn them into rubber is a thing that can totally exist. Though I'm not sure what the implications would happen if they both awakened but then again, nobody else does either
Pixie and Ifrit are also valid but they'd need a hard restriction of 1 additional ability like illusions for the fairy and fire manipulation for the ifrit
Genie is also valid but just like Daifuku it would only make you physically strong and not give you wish granting or reality warping. MAYBE sand manipulation on a small scale

>>4469952
Werewolf can work as a very souped up wolf with some additional gimmick

But yeah I've been thinking about Mythicals and they are HARD. Only came up with 1 that'd wok and wouldn't be cliche as fuck
>>
Could look into the various kaiju in japan's fiction for inspiration too (godzilla zoan?)
>>
>>4470002
As long as it has some roots in actual mythology I don't mind bending it a bit to match the kaiju. Though its size would be much smaller
>>
>>4469996
The full animal form could just be a bigger form of the standard human/animal hybrid, maybe some increased healing with a powerboost under the full moon but also an additional weakness to silver
>>
>>4470038
I was actually thinking the reverse. I agree with the animal form being essentially a bigger and meaner wolf hybrid form.
But I thought maybe manipulating silver would be better. But I don't know. There doesn't seem to be a good tradeoff for such a handicap. Maybe a logia like immunity to anything but silver?
>>
>>4470017
a kitsune based based zoan? allows the user to turn into a ninetailed fox and create illusions as well as fox fire.
Other yokai include the Ōmukade https://yokai.fandom.com/wiki/Ōmukade, a giant centipede, the Wanaguchi https://yokai.fandom.com/wiki/Waniguchi a cross between a shrinebell and a crocodile, the Hanzaki https://yokai.fandom.com/wiki/Hanzaki, a good way to still have a salamander zoan despite Smiely, and Genbu https://yokai.fandom.com/wiki/Genbu a turtlesnake,

>>
>>4470070
Honestly of the ones named in that post I thought the hanzaki would grab your interest the most given your disappointment over the salamander fruit being used but now that I think about given Smiley's size and ability to reabsorb the smaller pieces it basically was a hanzaki already
>>
>>4470075
I'm just still reading it. But I saw the nine tailed fox and felt like pointing that out
>>
>>4470077
Another thing I thought about was "resist resist" fruit or something. Think "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" type of deal.

Or some kind of evolution fruit. *Cough* Kaizar *cough*
>>
>>4470067
are you discounting fruits that showed up in non-canon content like movies and games. there is a mythical vampire zoan in a game i think.
>>
Hmm. Plenty of stuff in Mythology to use for Mythical Zoans. Doesn't even have to necessarily be anything grandiose even.
There's the less flashy stuff like Trolls and Ogres.

If you do want something more badass you could use stuff like the Manticore or the Cockatrice
>>
>>4470107
gryphons too, unless we're sticking to od'as claim that there woud only be 5 fruits with flight abilities in the story.
>>
>>4470111
How many of those have even been confirmed?
The only one I can remember is the guy with the Hawk Zoan fruit from the Alabasta arc.
>>
>>4470104
>>4470111
non-canon is fine
Not really familiar with that anyway so won't be using it. Meaning you can give me fruits that showed up in there and you think are cool. If they convince me they may show up either in new hands or as fruits
Oh and the "only 5 flying fruits" thing is already dead. At best I could see that as "we are aware of only 5 people with flying fruits currently". But even then there are many ways to attain pseudo flight.
Smoker can by shooting a jet of smoke out his ass, Luffy can by kicking the air, Doffy could just Spiderman over the sea with clouds, etc.
So fuck that

>>4470107
True. Regardless of how powerful the mythical being is a Mythic Zoan boosts you to such ridiculous levels physically it doesn't matter so even minor beasties are game.
Cockatrice I'm not sure about though. Because I'm almost 100% sure there was a cockatrice in Impel Down. Making that a regular zoan if it even exists

Sailing out once more proved to be quite arduous with your new crewmate. Your little rowboat was not designed for more than two people and now it has to carry you, a robust fishman, a girl and your supply of water and preserved food. So things are a bit too cramped for your liking. You accidentally rubbed off against Marcella and she beat you up for it, you wanted to pass the time so you asked her to touch your rod and she beat you up again. When she realized you wanted to make a fishing pole she reluctantly touched the thread but didn't apologize for hitting you. And somehow you wound up in the the big hands of Jaws every time you fell asleep. Needless to say everybody is a bit agitated, especially Marcella.

"We've been stuck in this damn boat for days. I'm starting to loose my mind! When are we gonna hit land?!"

"No clue."
Jaws responds.

"What do you mean you have no clue?!"

"I don't know where we're headed, only where the current is taking us. We just have to hold on and we'll hit land sooner or later."

"Don't tell me, you idiots don't know how to use a map?"

"Nope."

"I don't even know how to read."

"But you do have one right?"
You produce the rolled up piece of paper and she snatches it out of your hand.
"Unbelievable. I'm THIS close to jumping into the sea! Okay so we started from here, went for about four days and judging by the sun-"

While she's busy deciphering your location using a compass and the map Jaws looks up and a smile spreads across his face.
"Ah finally! A News Coo! I was worrying my subscription didn't get through."
The large bird lands on your ship and drops off his package to the fishman before taking his fee. As soon as the bird leaves Jaws begins looking intently at the many scribbles of the paper.

Marcella is navigating, Jaws is reading. And only you are bored out of your mind because you haven't had a catch in hours. Maybe being a fisherman is not your calling after all. Bummer.

You keep fishing for a bit longer as the others keep to their tasks. But sadly nothing interesting happens. Even a buoy with the skull painted on it alongside a message can't really hype you up.
"I'm booooored!"
You exclaim.

"Then be bored quietly. I need to figure out where in the world we are!"

You lean over to Jaws and stare at him so intently he can feel your gaze practically burning him through the paper. He puts down the news and asks if you want something. When you tell him you're interested in what he's reading he looks like he's about to have a stroke.
"Y-You want to know what's in the papers? Well they are writing about that Bege guy Marcella mentioned. Apparently he's been going all over the West Blue and just destroying criminal organizations by killing their leaders. He already has an impressive 15 million bounty-"

"That's taking so long though! I wanna read!"

"Oh... you want to learn then? I uh, I'm not really the guy to ask that."

"Then how do you do it?"

"How do I, hmmmm. Okay. I don't know how well it'll work but I think I got an idea. Maybe if we get a little aid."
Jaws then flips the newspaper over and starts shaking it. Suddenly a lot of parchments fall out from between the pages. These are darker and are printed on thicker paper, making them more durable. You instantly recognize them.

"Bounties!"

"That's right. They keep stuffing the papers full with them. Back when I was on the street I used these for fire because people kept throwing it out. But now I think they'll come in handy. The news would be a bit too hard for starters but I think this one has enough pictures to keep your attention. Okay now pay attention!"

Jaws goes through the bounties that didn't fall into the ocean and uses the names of the pirates as guides. You go through the ABC with their names and in no time at all you start reading their names out loud. Yorki, Nico Robin, Capone Bege and of course "Red Hair" Shanks are but a few names you manage to read but they are the only interesting ones. Your lesson goes so well that you quickly get bored with the reading and dip your toe into counting instead. Using your fingers you manage to learn numbers up to 100, though you kept calling "ten" "onety-one" for a while. But even if you don't know any numbers higher than three digits now you at least know that "more zeroes mean bigger". So at least nobody can scam you so easily anymore.
>Knowledge rank up!

Your progress is so astonishing that Jaws can't believe it.
"S-Silver! How can you learn so quickly?"

"I 'unno. Never tried it before."

"What do you mean you never tried it? Did you not attend school?!"

"Nope."

Even Marcella lets out a whistle at that.
"Huh. And here I thought you're just slow."

"What kind of parents do you have?"

"I don't."

"O-Oh."

Meanwhile Marcella is scratching her head in frustration.
"Argh this is impossible! Because of you idiots I can't figure out where we are! If I'd known I would've paid more attention!"

"I know where we are."
You point out.
"We're in danger."

Both of them pert up and start looking around.
"What do you mean?"

"We passed a sign before. The letters on it said "Danger". I assume it's a pirate place because it had a skull painted next to it."

"And you're telling us just NOW?!"

"I couldn't read it before."

They both look well pissed off but Jaws quickly calms down when he finished observing his surroundings and the big expanse of nothing that is the sea. He says he's feeling quite strange and that according to the sea currents you should be very close to an island. Yet there is nothing to see as far as your eyes can tell. But suddenly as if struck by lightning Marcella returns to her map.
"Dangerous area, should be an island here but there isn't. Why does that sound so familiar? OF COURSE! I know where we are now!"

"Well don't keep us suspended."

"This should is, or rather was Ohara."
She says with a sense of pride as she figured out the solution to the puzzle. But her disposition changes quickly.
"We should get out of here. It's dangerous."
That sounds interesting! But you're in the middle of nowhere in a boat that could tip over from a stronger wave.

You look at Jaws hoping he'd shed some light on the confusing situation. But all your hopes are crushed when he just shrugs back.
"What's that? Some sort of myth or legend?"

"Far from it. Ohara was an island and it was very real. It's history and something everyone in the West Blue knows well."
You raise your hand but Marcella just rubs her eyes.
"Everyone EXCEPT one guy!"
You smile and feel happy that you're included.
"The WENP, the paper you're reading right now actually wrote a story about it. Hell it's in the history books."

"Then how about you actually share it? Because I'm from the Grand Line."

"Basically Ohara was a bad place. Bunch of madmen lived there, some doomsday cult that wanted to destroy the world with ancient super weapons. The government got wind of it and decided to stop them. It was a bloody and brutal fight but they managed to win. But to protect the world they destroyed Ohara so nobody could get to their forbidden knowledge. Everyone died, except one. Nico Robin the "Devil Child"."

"Hey I remember that name! She was in the bounties! Here!"
You jump and produce the paper in question showing a little girl! And then both you and Jaws find your eyes bulging out when you see the number under her name. That's a lot of zeroes.

"Yeap. 79.000.000 Belly. For a little girl, she's somewhat of a legend here. Apparently she's still alive to this day, you can hear reports of her joining up with random crews except that she brings ruin everywhere she goes even to those she calls teammates. Hell do you know WHY she got that high of a bounty? She sunk SIX navy battleships on her own. And she's trying to fulfill the dream of the Demons of Ohara to this day. And those ships were destroyed believe you me, their entire crew are now resting on the ocean floor. Some even believe she's the one that destroyed Ohara altogether. Now do you understand why we should get out of here? The World Government shoots anyone that tries to reclaim anything from Ohara."

"Well they didn't kill us yet. And I don't think they accounted for people being dumb enough to row all the way out here with a boat. But fine, I'll humor you."
Jaws leans over the edge of the boat and sticks his head into the water. You see a lot of bubbles come to the surface and he comes back out. He looks visibly shook.
"Alright. I'll give you one thing. There is a massive ship graveyard down there. Can't even count them they are so busted up. BUT! Unless that little girl had cannons the size of buildings she sure as hell didn't destroy this place. This place was leveled with sustained fire for sure. You can still see the craters. Regardless I don't think we're in any position to argue. This is the captains call. But personally I think we could go ruin diving here. We might find some useful stuff in the wrecks."

"In 20 year old ruins? Fat chance."

"Then let's dive! We could always use more treasure!"

Jaws nods and he jumps in fully clothed and all without giving it a second thought. He looks at you expectantly as he'll need help searching the ruins and Marcella can't come. Despite not liking getting your clothes wet you'll just have to put up with it for now. But you do take off your suit and your vest and hand them over to Marcella.
"W-w-w-what? You're gonna leave me here?!"

"Uh yeah? Jaws says you can't swim."

"T-That's not it! W-What if something happens! I don't want to be alone! There are definitely evil ghosts haunting this place I'm telling you! Or there will be once you disturb their graves!"

"You worry too much!"

Jumping after Jaws you first get used to the temperature of the water as well as the dizzying dark depth of the sea. Its call is something that always beckoned you but never before this did you try to satiate that curiosity of yours.
"Okay Silver how well can you hold your breath?"

"I got good suck. Why?"

"Just asking. I can stay down forever but you'll have to come back up for air."

You nod and say that you know. With that you prepare to dive but Marcella stops you again, throwing each of you a rope with a hook on the end. She tells you to attach it to your shirts and she'll signal if something happens. Now properly equipped you finally take the plunge and make your way to the seafloor where you're stunned to hear Jaws speak perfectly.
"I forgot to ask but can you use sign language?"
You make a few gestures pointing at your eye, forming a C, a flat surface and a T.
"I. See. Pan. T. Heh. Okay. Follow me Silver!"

Following your fish-man friend you go for the sunken ships that lay in the middle of some craters. Jaws says that something really went to town on those ships, almost as hard as the ships hit the island, and that it had to be gigantic. You comb the entire seafloor in search of treasures, goodies or anything interesting but come up short. Aside the barely intact remnants of ships, a few buildings and a lot of sunken wood you find nothing of worth. But as you keep exploring the absence of something else also becomes apparent.

"Strange. I did not see any fish yet. But if this place was destroyed over 20 years ago it should be teeming with aquatic life right now. Have you seen anything Silver?"
You wave your hand dismissively.
"I don't like this. Something cleaned this place out. We should hurry. How much air do you have lef- SEA KING!"
>>
You turn around and see a massive creature emerging from the mud with more teeth than you can count and each one about your size. Its eyes are focused on you and they are hungry. It swims forward to swallow you whole but you manage to swim under it and when you see its exposed underbelly you hit it with the Hyakumaigawara Seiken. The beasts back shoots up and the rest of its body follows it staining the crystal clear sea red with its blood and viscera. You rub the guts out of your eyes and signal Jaws to head up but you spot something where the beast was. Looks like this little journey was not all for naught after all.

Swimming down where the serpentine beast was coiled up you see something clearly man-made. Was it perhaps guarding or hoarding it? Well it doesn't matter now. Going closer you start making out it in detail. It's a perfectly shaped stone cube with strange carvings adorning it on every side. Your curiosity is urging you to go on and take a closer look at it but something else, something unusual is telling you that you'd best stay the hell away from it. Is this what thinking feels like? You don't like it. Especially since it's telling you to ignore the shiny thing.

You decide to screw the noise in your head and swim closer to it even ignoring the warnings of Jaws. The blackish blue cubiform stele almost perfectly blends into the deep oceans background but even with that perfect camouflage it stands out so clearly. As you get closer you start to understand why the Sea King was so protective of it, the thing is drawing you in. You don't know what it is but you know it's important.

Jaws sighs and rushes past you with his superior swim speed. He circles around the thing looking for anything suspicious but finds the surrounding seafloor just as desolate as everywhere else. Finally he actually starts looking at the object itself.
"Strange. I've never seen writing like this before. Do you think this is from that Ohara place? But if it is and it was here for 20 years then, why did it not corrode?"
He touches the perfectly intact rock and finds it remarkably tough, so much so that even when he's giving it his all he can't make it budge an inch. This thing is so heavy probably no ship in existence could carry it. Scary.

Finally you yourself get in touching distance of the thing. The weird squiggles on it are just as arcane to you as it is to Jaws. Yet you can't help but feel a certain understanding as you're looking at them. Whatever message this writing system is meant to convey is lost but the idea behind it isn't. As you keep staring at the symbols your eyes glaze over and not because of the salty water. Serene images with cities made of pure gold and marble, hanging gardens the size of islands, countries riding on clouds or hiding deep beneath the ocean dart past you. And a name that rings quiet and hollow like the sigh of a ghost. Then darkness takes you and you feel a force pulling you away from the stone.

As you approach the surface the light hurts your eyes and you feel something sticky clinging to your skin. You are thrown out of the water and onto the boat with great force. Letting out a pained groan you try your best to stand up.
"Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurgh-"

"AIEEEEEEEE!"
You feel a baseball bat smacking you over the head.
"G-G-G-G-GHOST!"
>>
"You guys are such jerks!"
It takes a while to get the Sea King guts off of you. Apparently the red ichor clinging to your body made you look quite a lot like an evil spirit. Luckily Jaws got an equally great beating as well. Once things calm down a bit your feisty navigator finally asks you some questions.
"So did you find anything?"

"No. The Sea King must've eaten everything of value. Crazy beast."

"But we did find a big cube!"

"Yeah unfortunately it's far too heavy to move. Not to mention that only gibberish is written there so-"

"But I'm telling you I've seen things!"

"Because you were asphyxiating dumbass. I told you to go up for air! But you just floated there."

Well looks like he doesn't believe you. No matter you're certain of the thing you saw. There's something to that cube, something important, something worth seeking. It's lucky then that you memorized the symbols. Now you make sure to etch those into your heart so you can recall them if need be. But for now you'll seal that knowledge away.

"So you left me here and scared ten years off my lifespan for a big load of nothing? Good to know!"

"Not necessarily!"
Jaws speaks up ecstatically.
"Just look at the size o' this beaut'! Pure Sea King meat! You're not getting that in the corner store! Come on let's dig in before the sharks come!"

"Oh yeah? And how do you expect us to cook it genius? We're on a boat!"

Jaws looks back with raw meat puffing up his cheeks.
"Cook? This is sterile so you can eat it as is! It's the BEST! I could kill for this back in the day! All I lived on at Fish-man Island was seaweed, algae and other disgusting things. But thankfully Sea King aren't fish so I could at least eat them at the holidays!"

You scoop out a handful of meat chunks and give them a taste. You can't help but lick the corner of your mouth as you then chow down on the rest. You eagerly tell Marcella to try it out but she still refuses. Oh well, more left for you. Unfortunately as you gorge yourself on the seemingly inexhaustible source of food you get interrupted by a flock of very ravenous sharks. You show them what for and beat the living shit out of them for trying to eat what's rightfully yours. Once they are subdued you of course share the meat with them but only AFTER you had your fill. In hindsight it seemed very petty as there was plenty for everyone but you're god damn pirates! Nobody takes your stuff without permission!
>>
And I'm going to end things here
Unfortunately you did not gain any of the fantastic loot I prepared but you did gain ample amounts of knowledge, including a glimpse at a Poneglyph
Next time we'll be leaving Ohara for hopefully more fertile grounds

On one hand, the local marines aught to be weak enough where this is feasible.

On the other hand, once the marine brass hears about a bunch of newbie pirates stealing a marine vessel, chances are good that actually competent marines are gonna be up our ass before we even have time to put up our flag.

Makes one wonder how far they'd get if someone were to kidnap a certain wedge-nosed woman before they ever set foot on a desert island.
>>
>>4472681
A grand line island where each day is a different season. Due to the issues with growing food almost every inhabitant of the island has some skill in fishing or some other way of getting seafood. Vegetables and meat can be sold here for good money but it's also not unusual for travelers to be robbed of their entire foodsupply.
>>
>>4472707
Not bad but on the lower end of insanity when it comes to the Grand Line. Keep in mind this is the sea where the season can change essentially every hour and where giant plants bear gourmet food to lure in unsuspecting animals to fatten up so the island sized carnivorous flower can eat them.

>>4472698
>Wedge-nosed
You insult Robin like that one more time and I'm gonna commit a hate crime
But essentially... not far. Skypiea wouldn't change much all things considered but even then a few crucial background things wouldn't happen. Beyond that things would go south REAL hard REAL fast.

But yeah that's just one possibility
You could team up with them which would help them short term but might hinder their development in the long run
OR help the enemy

Oh, you want insane? Then how about this-
The entire goddamn island flips upside down at dawn and dusk. Special caves found thorough the island can be used to take shelter during the event.

I'll happily admit that i'm spitballing here. This concept isn't exactly refined.
>>
>>4472731
That's a very grand line thing. i could see the islanders having their homes designed like gyroscopes so the always remain upright.
>>
>>4472731
Totally plausible with things like Punk Hazard or Raijin Island where lightning falls like rain all day every day. Hell I kinda like it.
>Flip-Flop Island
>>
>>4472731

With stuff like the knock-up stream existing you could claim that it's due to a combination of the caves making the island lighter and underwater geysers.
>>
Can someone explain what the cube we found was? Like I said before, I've never watched or read One Piece, so I only know about basic things.
>>
>>4472797
Either a piece of the record of the secret forgotten history known as Void Century where the current ruling class, the celestial Dragons, rose to power. Or plans for a doomsday weapon.
>>
>>4472797
It's called a Poneglyph. One of several indestructible monuments that contain forbidden knowledge. The one you found had details of a period of time known as the "Void Century". Nobody knows what happened there as all records of it were expunged from history. Poneglyphs are the only way to find out anything about it but it's written in a language that was similarly killed and its research forbidden. You can't read it per se but you can gleam the general idea behind it. This means you can misinterpret things but you're still infinitely ahead of virtually everyone else in the world

>>4473801
Also, who said we'd put it in the water?
>>
>>4473812
Do you want an airship then? Or a landship? Because it'd be pointless otherwise
A DF users body looses all buoyancy and they sink to the bottom
Even if you argue that not enough of the ship would be submerged for it to sink, which is fair, all it'd take is a single big wave and it goes down
>>
>>4473828
Fuck, an Airship.
Neat
>>
>>4473828
Water just removes the user's ability to move not their natural buoyancy is the answer I've come to. Can't confirm that's real though as the only legitimate showing of that drawback was Luffy pinned under debris in Arlong park, every other time is a gag.

Air ship could work with a flying Zoan.
>>
>>4473833
The human body is naturally buoyant. No DF user floated to the surface. Not even Jack and he's part fish
>>
>>4473837
Not that buoyant, gotta have a high salt content to just float without effort. especially if you don;t have air in you and every time they're just letting all their air out.
>>
>>4473839
luffy almost fucking dies in a bathtub.

>>4473840

>>
>>4473841
It's literally the only drawback of a devil fruit. You can't just argue it away.
>>
>>4473858
I mean other than some very specific circumstance where the user is buoyant enough it still a shitty downside. Also I completely forgot to state that while in the water the ship definitely would revert back to just being an inanimate ship what with the DF power being shut off.

After your big feast the two of you sit back with bellies swollen with tasty, juicy, marbled meat. True it was raw but it was just so rich in flavor and savory that you don't care. Especially since Jaws confirmed it's safe to eat. Besides when was the last time you could eat fresh meat? That's right. Never. Even then the best you had was the dried meat currently in your sacks and the food you ate at Coconut Island may not have been meat at all. So you're very happy now to the point that you allowed the salivating sharks attracted by the smell of blood to freely eat the rest. They seem so satisfied by the rare treat that they even forgot about the bumps on their heads that you gave them.

"Great. Are you two pigs done stuffing your faces now? I don't want to stay a minute more!"

*BURP*
"Sorry. Tummy's full."

"Don't worry. The sharks are saying they'll help us out as thanks for the food."

"Wow! You speak fish?"

"Not all fish. Took a few courses in school. Thought it'd help me score chicks. Never got past shark and squid."

Deciding that this sounds pretty rad you tie a bunch of ropes to the boat and toss them to the sharks. True to their 'word' four of them bite down on one each and they start pulling you out of the dangerous waters at a much higher speed than what you could manage with just rowing. As you're enjoying the cool sea-breeze and digest your meal you're left sitting quietly. However as much as you want to enjoy yourself Marcella seems perturbed. Maybe she's still sulking because you scared her.

You exhale with a heavy heart and even heavier stomach.
"Pfuuuh. What's wrong Hook? Still mad about the ghosts? Want me to help you fight your fears? Oooooooooo! I'M SPOOKY!"

"No you idiot! And get away from me your breath stinks. I just, got something on my mind. Something I want to ask you. Would that be okay?"

"Yeah."

She leans in and starts whispering presumably so that Jaws won't hear.
"I saw your back when you were eating. Is that why you don't take off your when you swim?"

"Yes. It's why I don't like swimming. The wet shirt still shows it."

"I'll say but what is it? Is it a-"

"Scars. Yes."
You speak at your regular volume so even Jaws can hear it. As you shuffle around a bit you make the boat bob a bit but luckily you don't tip over as you try your best to unbutton your shirt. When your bare back is revealed it shows a tapestry of pain that neither of them are familiar with and their reactions show. Jaws in particular seems difficulty keeping his lunch down at the sight of so many scars overlapping with one another. There's barely an inch of skin that hasn't been ruined by what appears to be excessive abuse.

"W-What kind of parents did you have?"

"I didn't. I was a slave."

Jaws is giving you a concerned look as he asks his question.

"Silver. Have you been stepped on by a dragon?"
The question doesn't make sense to you so you shrug which seems to calm him down. However before he could press on something catches all of your attentions. A booming sound can be heard coming from the direction you're going. An explosion. The eyes of the others quickly shift from you and they start looking at the sea in search of the source. Soon enough the sharks take you close enough for it to be visible. Not one but three ships are engaged in brutal combat with one another. Marcella takes out a telescope to get a better look of things.

"Three ships! Looks like... Pirates and Navy. Plus one I can't quite make out. Probably a civilian ship."

"So the pirates attacked the ship and the marines were in the area."

"I want to look too!"
You ask for the tool and quickly put it to your eye.
"They are farther away than I thought."

Annoyed Hook takes the device and turns it around for you.
"Guess that conversation will have to wait for a time. What are your order captain? Personally I recommend avoiding it. Getting sandwiched between two enemies is not pleasant."
You grin. Ain't no way you're gonna give up a perfectly good ship just like that!

"Alright Sharks! Take us to the ship, the big blue one!"
The sharks actually listen to you much to the surprise of Jaws. But it's nothing compared to when you tell your men that you want their ship. They call you reckless, they call you mad, they call you stupid. But you're the gosh darned captain and you want those people off YOUR ship!

As you get closer it becomes apparent that most of the fighting is going on at the marine ship with the rest of it happening on the ship of the pirates. The private ship only stays because they've been grappled. Interesting but not very concerning. You got eyes on bigger booty. You manage to sneak up to the ship without attracting any attention. Most likely people got better things to worry about than a small boat. Waving your hat to the sharks you thank them and cut them loose, then you give the crew the command. Hook wastes no time climbing the ships side with her powers in stealth but that's not really your style.
"This is where fifteen times strength comes in to play."

Murray tosses you up, grabs your provision bag and jumps after you. Landing with a heavy thud you get the attention of everyone on board as you draw your sword and point it at them.
"Everyone stay calm! We're taking over the ship!"

The fighting actually stops for a moment as everybody starts wondering what's going on. Then they start laughing at your dumb ass. This gets you rightfully pissed and you jump in to punch the guy closest to you. He gets flung back to the pirate ship breaking the railings of it and setting the third ship free as the hooks are no longer held by anything. As the fighters on board realize that the threat you pose is very real fighting breaks out again but it gets much more chaotic. Neither the pirates nor the marines seem to be sure what to do, or more specifically which of the two enemies they should focus on. So you get a few funny scenarios where the pirates and marines end up teaming up against you for a second only to realize that they are side by side with the enemy and they go at each others throat once more.

"OKAY BOYS! Throw the pirates in the sea but leave the marines!"

You give your last order before diving in the thick of things. Right away three pirates come swinging at you with their swords, you block all three of them before telling them to quit screwing around and shoot one of them with your free hand and kick the other two in the head hard enough to send them overboard. Meanwhile Jaws is swinging around his big anchor aiming it at the center of mass. One by one the poor sods take the heavy iron object to the chest. They don't appear to move much after. Side by side with him Hook moves around breaking kneecaps with her bat and even using her devil fruit in quite scary ways. She grabs two pirates, slams their heads together and screams "Velcro Slam". After that they have a hard time pulling themselves apart as hooks sprouted from their cheeks and got tangled up. She then takes out two birds with one swing of her baseball bat.

The pirates quickly realize that something very wrong is going on and their captain looses his nerve. He orders his men to retreat and they start taking off. Some of his men manage to climb aboard before the ship departs but most of the ones that made it over were sent there flying by you. This leaves you alone with the remaining navy personnel who are a bit confused. There is one guy on the upper level of the ship wearing a fancy coat who starts shouting at you. You suspect he's the boss.
"W-Who are you people?! Where did you come from? And do you have any idea what you're doing?"

"I'm Silver! I came with a boat and I want you off my ship!"

"Your ship?! Alright men I had enough. Fire at will! Cull these clowns so we can chase the pirates!"

"But sir! There's just three of them. We'd be shooting ourselves!"

You look around for a moment sensing an opportunity. Ignoring most of the armed marines you look up.
"You order your boys to shoot each other? Sounds pretty stupid to me! Hey! How about YOU shoot me instead?"

"Gladly!"
He draws a pistol and starts shooting at you. He seems to be a pretty bad shot because you don't have to dodge much to avoid him. You consider grabbing one of the marines as a shield but you doubt it'd help, he'd just shoot him as well. Instead you charge while constantly dodging gunfire. Some of the marines do stand in your way but most seem pretty willing to just let you run up to their captain.
"Out of the way! I wanna fight him not you!"
You tackle the ones that didn't get the memo and keep running forward without even acknowledging them.

As you reach the wall leading to the upper deck you simply run up the sloped wall and hoist yourself up with the railing while the marines you left behind resume fighting Jaws and Hook. Coming face to face with the Captain you smile at him and raise your gun.
"My turn!"

You fire and the bullet hits his pistol. The captain reaches for his hand as the weapon in it explodes. He screams in terror and pain as you reach forward and grab him by the collar. Jumping on top of him you push the guy on the ground and start punching him in the face over and over again until it looks like he was stung by an entire hive of bees.
"God that was unnecessarily violent!"

Finished with him you throw the captain off the bridge and let the rest of the marines look at his now very sparse teeth. Though considering how popular he must be with his men it's little surprise that they don't give a shit about his well being and they keep fighting like nothing happened.

And you see that they fought viciously. If anything beating the shit out of their captain RAISED their morale. Their swordsmen occupied Jaws and Hook long enough for the rifleman to assume a proper formation. Once their melee fighters were out of the picture the gunmen opened fire to suppress the fishman and the girl. As the two of them are forced to hide behind the cannons at the sides the two of them keep arguing with each other about which one of them got in the way of the other.

You pull your hat over your eyes and look down at the scene with a grimace.
"This is going to take a lot of work."

Looking around you try to find something to help you "even the odds" a bit. There is a rope next to you that could be used to go down very quickly and cause some mayhem. But looking up you see that one of the sails is also perfectly positioned to be dropped on them. And lastly... there are a whole lot of canons. Maybe you could use one but it would probably damage your ship as well.

Grabbing the rope you cut it with your falchion then put the sword in your mouth. With a loud ululating yell you swing down and the marines briefly stop firing to see what's happening. Two poor sods see the soles of your shoes for a split moment before they hit their faces. The firing line breaks as their rifles are too long to use in such a close distance and the ones far enough can't risk hitting their allies. You fire your pistol to the right and follow that up with a slash to the left. As you begin dicing up the marines the sword fighters rush in to aid their comrades. You try fighting them off but they are much better trained than the pirates and fail to even duel one of them.

You take a stab to the gut and feel the wind being taken from your sails so to speak. But you won't let it end like that. Shooting the duelist in the face before he could pull the sword out you return to the fight with the saber sticking out of your gut. You smile like a madman and manage to make the rest of the marines freeze. As you continue your rampage your crewmates finally take the hint and join in. Jaws drops his anchor on a poor guy and starts using his Fish-man Karate to manhandle them instead whilst Hook forsakes her bat for something more practical. She starts slapping the soldiers and making hooks sprout from their sides which she uses to attach them to other soldiers. Soon enough most of them are either knocked out or they are inseparably hooked onto their teammates.

When their numbers start to thin the rest of the marines realize they are fighting a loosing battle so they quickly give up to prevent further bloodshed. Unfortunately by that time you accumulated a few more hits but none as bad as the sword to the gut. You round up the marines and sit them down. They spout profanities and curses at you while your crew is looking at you expectantly.
"So Captain? What should we do with them?"

"First I think you did bad and we need to talk about that. But for now-"

Organ harvesting, silly
>>
>>4475963
Not necessarily. True, mundane things can be cured mostly with just a bandaid and plenty of cow juice.
But get hit hard enough, like Zoro and the wound will need extensive care. At the same time there is more bullshit that requires proper medical attention like illnesses, poison or whatever horrid shit your enemy comes up with.

Keep in mind there are people with machine conversion and gene manipulation capabilities. You really DO need that medicine in the Grand Line

"-make sure these guys are tied up."

Marcella goes through each and every one of them and binds them all together.
"Okay you scum listen up! Those hooks aren't coming out of you. Only way you're running away is if you pull on it so hard it rips the skin! Got that?"

"Good job Hook."

"So that's what's gonna be my name? Guess I can't complain after Hooker."

One of the marines snickers and that makes her snap. She even sticks a hook in his cheek and asks him if it was funny enough to laugh about it forever. You don't know what she means by that but you can guess by his screams. But that's not what you want and so you tap on her shoulder.
"Don't hurt him. Just leave them be. We'll drop them off at the next island."

"Eh? They are the navy! We are supposed to kill them!"

"Why?"

"WHY? Because we are pirates! When did you ever see a nice pirate?!"

"Pirates do what they want. I don't want to kill them. And I won't kill them just because someone thinks I should. Screw those guys!"

She looks like she's about to insult you again and call you names but when she starts thinking about it you almost get the impression that she understands what you mean and doesn't push further. Instead she looks at your torso and wonders if she should really consider what you're saying.
"Erm... are you okay?"

"What this? It's just a sword. Nothing bad ever came from a sword because they are cool!"
You pull the thing out to show her.
"See?"
But as blood keeps gushing out from your wound you start going pale a bit.

"Okay genius hold still! This is gonna hurt a lot-"
She touches the wound and you feel hooks sprouting from your body in a zig-zag pattern. They bite into your flesh and shut the wound super tight like someone stapled it together. You can tolerate pain quite a bit but this makes even you scream. At the least it staunched the blood instantly.

"T-Thanks!"
You smile through the blood trickling down from your mouth.

"Okay dummy. Let's tour our new ship first. Maybe that'll get your mind off the pain."

"G-Good idea!"

You tour the ship with Jaws and Hook checking every important part of it. There are a total of 3 turrets, one on the front and one on each side. Every turret houses 3 cannons locked together. They can be rotated and angled via the mechanisms of the turret allowing you far greater aim and longer range. Sadly this ship is too small to carry a lot of ammo for them and by the looks of it the marines used up most of it in their fight. So you'll have to procure more. Aside that the ship has standard, a kitchen, an infirmary, a room for the crew, a captains cabin (who needs that anyway) and of course the bathrooms. Nothing special but everything you'll need.
>>
File: Spoiler Image (41 KB, 480x360)

41 KB JPG
There is one last room that you want to check and normally it'd be the most interesting: the cargo hold. Sadly Jaws shatters your enthusiasm by telling you that marine ships don't carry "booty". Still you want to take note of what you 'purchased' and break down the locked door. Despite there being no treasure you still let out a satisfied whistle. There are a lot of weapons in here, almost too many in fact. Even if they are replacements there is still at least 3 guns and 3 swords for each men including the non-combatants like the ship cook and the doctor. Strange. Maybe they were taking them somewhere. You start rummaging through them but find nothing that catches your attention. They are all standardized swords and guns, nothing too different from what you have. They'll be good for spares at least or you could sell them. If you can find someone willing to buy obviously stolen navy equipment that is.

But there is ONE thing worthy of notice. A small lockbox with the navy symbol on it and like three different locks. You could ask the crew about the keys but brute force is a universal unlocking mechanism! You hit the locks caveman style with a heavy object until they pop off and you can access the treasure inside. But you can't quite make sense of what it is.
"Hey guys I think I just broke someones lunchbox. Please don't tell anyone."

Jaws and Hook look over your shoulder and scream in terror before running as FAR away from you as possible.
"KEEP THAT THING AWAY FROM US!"

"Hmmm? Why?"

"T-That's a devil fruit you idiot!"

"Ooooooh! So this is what they look like! Weird."

"Dude! We could sell that for so much money! I bought mine for 100.000.000! I bet we could swindle even more out of some sucker!"

"Really?"

"Yeah. But whatever you do just keep that away from me! I don't wanna die!"

"AND ME! I'd rather die than get cursed by that thing!"

"Okay-"

You look at the fruit and think about it for a long time. It's very hard to decide what to do with it to the point that it's making your head hurt. You know what 1 is and you know that a million is a lot. So 100 million must be a whole bunch more. Just imagine all the possible things you could buy with that, all the things you could do! So much stuff to think about. Too much in fact. You better keep that fruit for later, maybe think about this a bit more. But boy oh boy, all that mental exercise sure is tiring. You could really use a snack right now.

And before you know it you take out the fruit from the box, rip it in half and start nomming on one half of it.
"Man, I just don't know what to do. It'd be cool to have weird magic powers but all that money! Imagine how many glasses of milk I could buy with that! Hmmmmmm. Man this snack is not half bad."
You take out the peach seed and eat the other half of the fruit before snacking on the crunchy filling as well.
"What do you guys think?"
As they watch you casually and unknowingly devour the devil fruit they are left speechless.
"What?"

"W-What did you just do?!"

"How did you do that? It TASTES like SHIT!"

What are they talking about? Sure it wasn't the best but you had worse before. Then you look down at the box to close it and see that its content is missing. You blink a few times before the gears start grinding. Even then it's more like a hamster wheel whose occupant fell out halfway through. You're not one for cursing but... fuck.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! WHAT HAVE I DONE?!"

You scream at the top of your lung and very suddenly things start going haywire around you. The weapons in the storage room are flying all over the place and your two crewmembers are clutching their ears while looking like they are in pain. You start muttering to yourself in your confusion, failing to realize what happened. Then the room lights up and you become aware of every inch of it.
"W-What is going on?"

Your body starts growing, changing as the newfound power in your body emerges. Your fingers and ears elongate, your body gets covered by a thick black fur and your teeth are replaced by sharp fangs. Suddenly you find yourself fumbling and failing to stand upright. Falling on all fours you look up and see that Jaws is still about your height. It's unclear what happened but your new big ears pick up the scared muttering of Hook clear as crystal.
"The Batto Batto no Mi!"

I feel like that extent of blood sucking would have to come from a mythic zoan vampire bat fruit. Not a regular zoan bat fruit. There are only two good things about common vampire bats, the first being that they can run on land. The other being infrared vision, which is infinitely more useful than any other lame shit.

I was thinking about that and yes we do it seems.
>You scream at the top of your lung and very suddenly things start going haywire around you. The weapons in the storage room are flying all over the place and your two crewmembers are clutching their ears while looking like they are in pain.
This is why I say it's good but underwhelming. When it comes to animal powers bats are an obvious choice.
>>
So are we stuck as a bat now? Or can zoan users transform back to normal?
>>
>>4476609
Ah right right. So if we can combine them it would give us another significant boost to offense with wide range and pinpoint attacks. Currently the Batto Batto no Mi is set. The model is not. Meaning you could be any existing species of bat be it micro- or megabat.
This extends to noses as even though I'm biased towards the ones that look like they exploded but the dog and snub nosed ones are fine as well.
Currently I'm biased towards the Ghost-faced Bat because its head looks like a spoopy skellington and because it has two very useful abilities that can be exp- I mean used!
The other is the Spectral Bat. But I am still researching and can be swayed if you can show me one with a cool ability

Second there's the issue of Zoans. So here's a brief rundown on how they work and what you should and should not expect from this development
>Forms
Zoans have 3 forms.
Your original, i. e. real human bean
Full bat form, meaning you shrink down and become a flying rodent
And Hybrid form where you take the best features of both and mush them together and become a proper human sized werebat monster.
But these are only the traditional ones and here comes the second point

>Development
Zoans can develop new powers even alter old ones. Tony Tony Choppers 3 base forms changed radically through his 2 year training and because he no longer wanted to appear human
In addition to that he developed 4 additional forms all of which seemed to focus the entirety of his fruits power into a single aspect of his being. Not to mention he straight up REMADE one of those from the ground up into something else.
Instead of a regular hybrid form he could use Arm point where his biceps and shoulders looked like medicine balls and let him hit very hard, Jump point where his legs became strong instead or Horn point where I'm sure you get what happened.
Yes originally these required a drug but given how he could use them at will later suggests the drug merely helped him draw those powers out.
So yeah Zoans are flexible

And lastly
>Abilities
Generally Zoans are limited to the abilities of the animal turned up to 100 but that's not all. One Piece operates on one thing: Rule of Cool.
Logic, the rules of nature, physics and biology are followed and ignored on a case by case basis depending on what would be cool. So if you come up with something that makes sense for a crazy person chances are it might work.
Case and point: Kaku

Kaku was a Giraffe-man. Now let me recite some of the things he could do and tell me if they sound like something a giraffe can do
>He can retract his neck into his body to shoot his head out like a spring. He used this to hit things very hard with his nose.
>If he retracted his neck far enough his limbs stretched out instead. This even freaked him out
>He could fold himself up into a cube

So yeah. Sonic attacks are obvious as are biting, scratching and flying. But if you can bullshit something up it can work. Not to mention you can combine that with martial arts AND you exist in a world where if you swing a stick hard enough it will shoot out energy waves

Sorry if I rambled on a bit. I just felt like explaining how the voices in my head are telling me to do things
>>
>>4477029
I'm sorry I read rules of nature and thought about suplexing a battleship by its main mast and forgot everything else you said.

I'm not let down by the fact its a bat so much that zoans are just used as a "well that's neat" rather than something truly terrifying. There are exceptions to the rules of course but most of the time they're kinda meh on the powerscale. Obviously powergaming and metagaming is for fizzless sodas of human beings but it's still important to at least FEEL powerful. And I feel like most people don't get that sensation from bat zoan.

Obviously simple personal preference comes into it as well. But I mean it's a regular zoan. No one looks at a plain zoan and thinks it'll pull a battle on its own. It'll still come down to primarily what the user is naturally capable of stacked on top of it.

If Kaku wasn't already a top-tier assassin he'd have gotten his cheeks clapped without any secret techniques and asspulls from Zoro and Usopp you feel me? A normal zoan just gives people more oomph. The exception being Chopper but he's an ass-backwards kind of example.

Which makes me wonder if there's a Neanderthal Ancient Zoan or an Adamite Mythical Zoan. Oh or an Enkidu Mythical Zoan.

I'm off on a massive tangent though, bats are cool and I'm not biased because they fly around my house at night all the time.
>>
>>4477041
>Suplexing battleships by its mast
Now you're thinking

>I feel like most people won't get that sensation from bat zoan
Understandable. But hear my point: Mochi

>Neaderthal Zoan, Adamite Zoan, Enkidu Zoan
Oddly enough the Caveman and Adamite might be things
Personally I'd be more hyped if the legendary Hito Hito no Mi Model: Nigger ever showed up
I hear it gives you incredible vertical jumping and running skills as well an access to the N word pass but makes milk reject the user as well as water
>>
>>4477048
>Understandable. But hear my point: Mochi
Yeah but Katakuri did things that you could conceivably do with mochi. You can stretch it, stiffen it, soften it. What makes Katakuri and his fruit powerful is Katakuri, not the inherent adaptability and bullshittiness of his froot. It's not like he started shooting lightning because you can generate static electricity with mochi (like with essentially every single other physical object). It's all pretty thematic. And most people think bats scream and hang from the ceiling and that's about it. Zoans in general tend to be that way.

Like no one here is thinking about how some vampire bats are known to regurgitate blood to feed other starving bats in a colony. And how you could conceivably spin that to be some sort of nourishing or restorative ability. Or even an offensive and disgusting one. It's less that there are no bullshit spins and mental gymnastics you can pull with zoans but the general single-mindedness and fixations that come with whatever they are.

Basically it's not the fruit who are the issue, but the people. And if people are unenthused they probably won't even try to become an asspull extraordinaire with it.

>nigger fruit
Dude it'd be super easy to find the bearer of that one. Just smear mayonnaise on a sandwich around people and the one to scream bloody murder and suddenly spout ebonics has it. 306% success rate.
>>
>>4477027
> Don't forget Awakend Zoans, though permanently becoming a mindless animal in hybrid form for extra power doesn't seem like something we'll pursue

>>
>>4476657
My biggest gripe with wano is that kaido has no ideas how valuable chopper is to his army.
>>
>>4477110
I'm about 90% sure that those guys had something done to them. Maybe they were fed something by the Impel Down staff that induces a forced Awakening at the cost of their faculties. Devil Fruits are not usually that detrimental to the user. And it strikes me as odd that you don't see an awakened zoan anywhere except Impel Down but right there you see 5 of them all of which look the same
I'm also of the belief that Monster Point is just a brute forced awakening

>>4477158
Well if Kaido ever found out about the rumble ball he'd go at Chopper harder than he ever did at anything. So it makes sense from a narrative standpoint
Also it's quite hard to gather information and make plans when you're shitfaced 98% of the time
>>
>>4477158
Also they spent how many arcs with Caeser? The only other person we've met to experiment on DF and he never even notices the wonky shit Chopper is doing with his. Maybe when they finally meet Vegapunk it will be brought up.
>>4477278
I get the narrative reason why it has been ignored, it would make Chopper more important than the other plot threads that have been set up but still it feels like something that should have been addressed by now.
>>
>>4477744
I have no doubts Vegapunk would immediately question or outright KNOW what Chopper is doing
But Caesar is a clown not just in name. Everything he did other than "muh poison gas" was him just ripping Vegapunk off and failing horribly. Gigantification? Vegapunk did it first. Artificial Devil Fruits? Vegapunk did it first and better
Caesar didn't even get how someone could touch a logia user. By all rights he was a Paradise level threat in the New World. So him not knowing jack or shit about Chopper makes sense. He's a hack. Even his super special anti Yonko weapon failed miserably
Not to mention how poor Chopper barely even seen any action in a while. What was the last fight he had? He wrestled with Big Mom for five seconds. Before that? Off-screen stuff in Zou, bodyswitching with Franky in Punk Hazard and maybe fighting a bit? Last time he saw real action may have been Fish-man Island
>>
>>4478530
Oh lord don't get me started on how Chopper has been treated. Other than wrastle Big Mom has he done anything of note in the past ten years since the timeskip?
I bet Buggy could have done a better job with Vegapunk's research. His Buggy Bomb and shoe canon? Blows Caeser's shit out of the water.

Hell yeah. When he busted all those new forms out it was like ok here's the swiss army knife crew member but then all he does for a decade is fight mooks and patch people up off panel. You try your best to stand up but it's just not going to happen. Your legs are weird and you're pretty sure they bend the wrong way now, your back is larger and seems to curve forward. And even though it's still technically possible for you to stand upright your increased height means you'd just bump your head in the ceiling. So you resign yourself to standing on all fours which is oddly comfy. Looking down you almost freak out because your hands are just gone and in their place are a pair of massive wings. As odd as this is it doesn't feel bad or unnatural at all, it's oddly familiar with your fingers moving around in that leathery membrane, elongated as they may be. The only one that's somewhat free is your little fingers which became a pair of small claws that you can kinda wiggle around. Your legs are similarly changed with your five toes now tipped with large claws and your heel raised from the ground. And obviously your face now feels different though you can't see it yet. If there is one thing that hasn't been changed is your stomach area which simply got bigger and more muscular.

"Well that's not what I expected. Does this mean you can turn into a big hook Marcella?"

"Hell no! I'm a paramecia. You're a zoan! We're completely different."

"Really?! That's cool! I want to see what I can do!"
But as you get excited and straighten your back you bump your head in the ceiling again.
"Ow. Maybe not in here-"

"Maybe you should hold off on that until you can control that thing."

You shrug with your great manbat wings and agree with Jaws. You even decide to ask tips from Hook but she's almost as clueless as you are. The best advice she can give is that you should treat it more or less as "part of your body". When you ask her what that means she has this to say.

"Do you know how you move your arm? No. You just can. Same thing here. When you ate that fruit you became a bit more. Think of it like having a new third arm. You should be able to quickly get a feel to it but mastering it will be difficult."

"Hmmmm."

Well it is odd and you do have a few extra bits. Maybe if you focus on those you'll find that third arm she was talking about. And to your amazement that more or less fixed it. Once you got a feel for your new power simply recalling how you used to look was enough to trigger a transformation and you're human again. Strangely enough you still feel the things you're missing now like the wings. Guess this is just you now, even though you're human deep down you're still a bat.

Leaving the storage room you return to main deck where you find the marines as you left them, tied up like so much ham. It looks like they tried to escape already judging by the drops of blood under them but they didn't get far. It might be best to get rid of them as soon as possible. Then again they aren't likely to go anywhere.

"Okay let's give this ship a makeover!"

Jaws nods.
"Good idea. That way we won't have to worry about any navy ship coming our way."

"Yeah! Plus the ship has to look like a pirate ship! But let's put some blindfolds on them so they don't know what it looks like!"
>Knowledge +
Jaws and Hook stare at you in disbelief.
"What? I can be smart!"

"That's terrifying. But actually a good idea. We'll become infamous soon enough but the longer we can stay under the radar the better."

"Right? And while we're at it you can tell me more about this 'third leg' thingie."

The marines begin snickering as they hear that, prompting Marcella to raise her fist and beat all of you over the head until you got bumps on them.
"IT'S THIRD ARM! And I only said that because you're too dumb to get it otherwise!"

"D-Damn-"
One of the marines speaks up.
"Your navigator sure is scary little pirate!"

"She's not our navigator though. She's the Master Baiter of the ship."

That gets you a roaring laughter and an even bigger beating. After that you decide it's better to shut up and blind the marines with their own scarves. Marcella even goes ahead and binds it to their faces but she's visibly beginning to tire from all the hooks she's maintaining. Meanwhile you have no idea where Jaws went but he simply disappeared. Later he jumps out of the sea and onto the deck.
"Okay. Managed to get some help with the renovations. But better do it quick. This really is a bad part of the sea."

"Who did you-"
You look over the edge of the ship and get sprayed with a facefull of ink. As you rub your eyes free you see a bunch of squids laughing at you. Apparently Jaws promised them some food and a few pantyshots of Marcella in exchange for their ink but your master baiter manages to haggle the latter down to a thorough beating shared equally between the fishes including your first mate. But with that settled you can get to work.

The two most important things to get done are the sails and the flag with the big 'MARINE' word written on them as well as the blue camo pattern on the hull. Those are the trademark signs of navy ships, everything else can pretty much stay the same and nobody will be any wiser unless they examine it from real close. Using a few buckets and the squid you manage to get plenty of black paint to cover all of it up. Jaws handles the hull while you climb up with your new claws and turn the sails black using only your clawed feet. All in all you manage to cover all the crucial parts and the marines have no clue about any of it, including your devil fruit abilities.

Sadly you can't paint a jolly roger yet as you don't have any white paint but a black flag should get the message across until you can paint a proper one. But there is still one thing left to do. Rebranding the ship. Removing the original name is simply not enough as a nameless ship would be very suspicious

You scrape off the original name and replace it with something more to your liking. "Dauntless" sounds good and not only because it makes people wonder how you know such a word. And you can paint it on because while you don't have any paint on reserve you do have a few spare coins which you can melt down for gold. The name glistens nicely and you feel satisfied.
"There! Now this is a ship!"

"It's a bit gloomy but it gets the message across."

"Eh mine was better."

"W-What did you pirate scum do to our ship?! You'll pay for that you hear me!"
The Marine captain insults you which you don't appreciate one bit. Good thing you won't have to tolerate their presence much longer. Seriously you don't keelhaul them and this is how they thank you? Chivalry is truly dead it seems.

"So Hook. Where's the closest island we can maroon them?"

She invites you to follow her to the captains cabin where she set up her map with the rest of her stuff already. You get that she needs room to work but what does she have against sharing the barracks with you? Girls are weird.
"Here's what I have planned. We should reach reverse mountain in about a week. That's our ticket to the Grand Line."

"You get in the Grand Line through a mountain? Who knew?"
Jaws wonders.

"Why how did you get OUT?"

"I swam through the Calm Belt."

"How in blazes did you do that?!"

"Very carefully."

"Anyway we're not suicidal so we won't do that! However there is a problem. We still need a lot of stuff before we can even attempt to go there. Specialized equipment will be needed. There is a small port nearby but we uh... we best avoid it."

"Why?"

"Because Silver, the Marines have been cracking down on wannabe pirates before they could enter the pirate paradise. They set up shop in every port before Reverse Mountain to stop any ambitious criminals. So here's my idea. We'll stop at Kano Country and stock up there. It's uh, not exactly any safer but at least it's not the Marines right? And there are several small islands nearby where we can drop those idiots off."

"As long as they don't shoot us on sight I consider that an improvement."
Jaws speaks up.

"Don't be so sure of that. The Kano Country is... arguably worse than the navy. If we start ANYTHING there we'll get destroyed. At least the marines would be kind enough to throw us in Impel Down."

"Sounds lovely. But it's not my place to judge. What about it captain? Shall we take our chance with them or go to Reverse Mountain?"

"Kekekek! Well the most dangerous part is the most fun one! And Kano sounds like fun!"

"I was afraid you were gonna say that but sadly we don't have much choice."

You set sails towards Kano with your brand new ship. The speed at which you can now travel is staggering and it's much more convenient than having to row all the time. So great is your excitement that you enter an argument with Jaws because you want to use the wheel and steer the ship. Sailing the sea with your own ship feels so good you can't help but break out in a song.
"Yo! Ya yo ya yooooooo~!"

"Pirates... please! I beg of you! I'll give you everything I have just stop this torture!"

"I have to agree with him Silver. I ask you never do that again or there will be a mutiny."

"NEVER!"

At first everybody is a bit worried about you driving but with Hook giving directions and Jaws giving advice you get into the swing of things very quickly. Turns out the ship is a bit faster than what Marcella thought and you arrive at Kano in about two days worth of traveling. But before you actually go to port you have something to take care of first. Stopping at one of the smaller islands surrounding the country you drop off the marine prisoners with some supplies so they don't starve. In addition to that you make sure to search them for any Den Den Mushi they might have and leave them with only one. Marcellas hooks should disappear on their own once you're far enough and then they can remove their blindings and make a call with that. But before you do leave them you drop this little nugget.

"Okay guys! Now that we don't have to worry about them let's resupply at Kano and head to Reverse Mountain as quick as we can. What's the ports name again?"

"Erm, why-"
You put a finger over Marcellas mouth and nudge your head at the marines.
"Oh erm- it's Curtain Town! Yeah! HOW COULD YOU FORGET ABOUT IT AGAIN?!"
She then starts whispering.
"Did I do good?"

"A bit forced but yea! Anyway let's get rid of the den den mushi at port as well. Don't want them calling or tracking us down with them."

As you head to Kano however Marcella finally feels confident enough to tell you more about it.
"Okay boys now listen to me and listen well. Kano Country is one of the most dangerous places in the entire West Blue. Because they are part of the World Government and not like any other country, island or town we've seen before. These guys can pay the tribute and still maintain a prosperous kingdom. In other words they are stacked. They are a part of the upper crust, just below the descendants of the founder kings themselves."

"Great. So that means we have to tip toe around government suits..."

"If only Murray. You see there is a reason for their prosperity. The one and only Happo Navy. Officially they are an army of 1000 strong defending the country. Unofficially they are an infamous and almost legendary pirate crew... that operates mostly on the Grand Line."

"H-How is that possible?! Piracy is outlawed by the government!"

"Yes. But it's different if you're part of the government. The Happo Navy mainly only bully people outside of the government and rarely bother fellow members. But that's not the whole thing. A good portion of their loot is sent back to Kano after which the country pays full taxes. In other words they are like the Shichibukai. Pirates that play by the governments rules and so are ignored for the most part. A couple decades ago they got rowdy with their leader attacking more Gov. protected islands than what's allowed and so the marines stepped on their necks. Since then they've been behaving. But I'll remind you they are still LEAGUES ahead of us. So DON'T START ANY TROUBLE! That goes DOUBLE for you Silver! If Kano gets mad with us we WON'T survive! Remember: BEHAVE!"

"Okay okay."

You steer the ship to port and Jaws docks as you're still not comfortable you can pull that off. As soon as you step off the ship however the harbormaster practically tackles you with his notepad.
"Ship name?"

"Dauntless."

"Purpose of visit?"

"Shopping."

"Duration of stay?"

"A few days."

"Captains name?"

"Silver."

"Do you have a full name or just Silver?"

"Nope. Just Silver!"

"Understood. Captain Silver it is."

"Oh I love the sound of that! But wait don't we have to pay to dock here?"

"No. There's plenty of room. This is just for administrative purposes. Welcome to Kano Country. Cause no trouble."

You leave the docks and take a look at the city itself. The smell in the air, the look of the place, the sounds that it emanates all suggest one thing. This place may carry the flag of the world government and it may be pretty. But underneath it all lies a place where a pirate would feel himself most welcome. This shall be your last stop before you embark on the great journey, this is where you must make your final preparations and quite likely this is where you'll throw a big fucking party to celebrate the true beginning of your adventure.

With a wide grin you give the order to your men.
"Okay guys! Let's sell all of our loot and get to work! I want to enter the Grand Line as soon as possible!"

"Whoa HUUUUGE! I didn't know such a big city exists!"

"The Kano Kingdom is one of the most prosperous ones in the West so it's natural. In fact it's comparable to an island on the Grand Line. Unlike all the other islands we've been to this one supports multiple cities and towns, not just one."

"Hmmm. A big country usually means big trouble."

"Yes but also big opportunity. You'll find more shops just here in the capital than on most other islands. Which is precisely what we need. After we sell our spare weapons we should get shopping. I'll be counting on you Murray."

"What you don't know what you need on the Grand Line? Well not that it matters. Aside food, medicine and general supplies we need only a few things to navigate that treacherous sea. But it's unlikely that we can find all of them here. We'll be lucky if we can get a log pose."

You start searching for a pawnshop willing to take all the extra swords and guns off your hand before doing anything. After all it'd be hard shopping without any money. But as you search near the port you get stopped by some random schmuck who seems quite excited by your presence. He stops you specifically and introduces himself as someone working for WENP. You can't help but ask him what he wants from you.
"You see sonny I worked in this industry for over 20 years and I know a pirate when I see one but I don't remember seeing a poster with your face on it yet! So let me make you an offer! Let me snap a few pictures of you and I'll make sure you get a bounty photo worthy of a champ!"

You do like the sound of getting a cool picture for your eventual bounty but wonder why he'd want that. And apparently bounty photo's work on a first come first served basis. When a new one is issued or gets updated they take the first usable one they can get and leave it at that. Couple that with there being a yearly contest for "Best Bounty Photograph" and many people outside of the World Government want to stage things so they have a good picture ready the moment a bounty is issued.

"Sure old man! I'd love a cool photo for my bounty. Name's Silver by the way!"

"Oh thank you my boy! With a name it'll be much easier to pick you up. I'm Arthur."
Arthur then begins snapping photos of you from various angles and asks you to do several poses for the sake of variety. The ones you enjoyed doing most were the "cool" one from a low angle with your weapons drawn, the frontal "friendly" one with you smiling and giving a thumbs up, and last "mysterious" one where he gave you a rose to bite on and told you to pull your hat over your eyes. Satisfied with the pictures he starts laughing.
"It's such a nice change of pace to meet a friendly adventurer like you. Usually I have to sneak around hoping to snap a few good ones and my knees are not good for that anymore. You're such a little gentleman especially with those clothes. Oh I know that sounds like a good epithet! The Gentleman. No, no, no. Sounds too boring so it's probably taken. I know! The Cavalier! Hmmm. Maybe not. We'll think on the name later. The public needs a good catchy name to capture their imagination!"

"No problem old guy! Just make sure your pictures get in and I'll be happy!"

"You sure? I was just about to pay you for your troubles-"

"No need. But if you could tell us where the nearest pawnshop is we'd be thankful."

Arthur blinks a few times and then gives you directions to the nearest store where you can unload your cargo. It's relatively close so you go ahead and simply carry most of your stock there and leave only a few of them in case you need replacements. The people inside were exactly the type you needed shady enough to take obviously stolen cargo and shady enough that they can't report you to the local marines without getting jailed themselves. But in turn you also didn't get much. You sold the swords and guns below market value at 40.000 a piece for a total of 2.000.000. You're about to split the money equally when your crew mates stop you.

"Here Silver. This is your share. 10 grand."
While you can't count you're pretty sure your stack is twice as thick as theirs.
"Don't be stupid. You're the captain, right? That means you need more money."

"Why?"

"Idiot! Where do you think the money comes from for the ship? We need to buy supplies, repairs, medicine and everything else to keep functioning as pirates! So just take it! What do you expect? Each of us also pay an equal amount for the supplies when we don't consume it at the same rate?"

"Fine. I guess I'll be a good captain."
You then halve the money and pocket one of them. Then do a heel turn and go back to the ship. When the others ask you what you're doing you tell them this.
"I'll put half of it away for emergencies and won't touch it. I'll call it the ships share and use it on the ship only."

Jaws smiles.
"See? Told you he'll find a way to dodge your pitfall. Now let's go. We have to find you a log pose."

"Yeah. You hear that Silver! We're going shopping! Don't do anything STUPID!"

You wave them off and go your separate way to stash your 'extra cut'. Well at least this way you're still somewhat equal to them while still acting like a captain. Come to think of it don't captains have charters on their ships detailing the rules? Maybe you should make one of those and nail it to the main mast at one point. But now it's time to explore this place for yourself. The entire city and from what you gather the kingdom has this weird vibe to it that you can't place. But you also don't really mind it.

Going window shopping a bit you look at the types of weapons they use and marvel at how familiar yet different they are. The food stalls all sell all kinds of tasty looking street foods but for some reason you can't shake off the feeling that you shouldn't buy any unless you want to eat gutter oil. But the weirdest are the people, all of whom wear baggy pants and about 90 to 95 percent of them feel... strong. This little suspicion of yours is confirmed when a bunch of kids run past you and one of them kicks you in the hip while screaming "Out of the way old fart". The hit of the less than ten year old child almost shattered your femur.

"The hell?"
You massage your aching side as you wonder just what is going on in this country.

One guy wearing bright orange robes walks up to you and starts laughing.
"Ohohoh! There's nothing unusual going on young man. It's just that the people here may seem a bit strange to you outsiders. You see almost everyone knows martial arts here to some extent. We have a world famous martial arts school. Sadly it's not open for outsiders."

"Awww. That's a shame. I do like learning stuff."

"Well if that is the case you may try your luck at the Hasshoken school if you're that interested. But if you're interested in learning things beyond punching stuff try climbing the mountain towering over the capital. There is a great forest of Sakura trees that can lift the spirits of any man. They say just looking at them once healed a man with an incurable illness."

Hmmmm. Martial arts and mythical forests huh? You conclude that this place rocks.
But you probably don't have time to fool around going to school or climbing a mountain.

>Find that school to learn something

That Hasshoken school sounds interesting. After learning how good Fish-man Karate can be you just have to see how a regular martial art can do. So you ask around the city for directions and find it relatively quick. An entire block of the city has been cleared just so the school can occupy it alone and that the students can practice in relative peace. There are even weird bendy trees around that look very pleasing to the eye. Without a doubt this is the place you've been looking for so you try to enter. Sadly the guards aren't too keen on that idea so they cross their halberds in front of you to prevent passage.

You start loudly complaining until a rickety old guy comes out demanding what all the fuss is about. When you tell him you're here to check out the school all he does is laugh.
"You? Study Hasshoken? Preposterous! The basics of Hasshoken are taught at an early age in the kingdom and still most people never prove themselves worthy enough to enter these sacred halls! What makes you think YOU can?"

"I can kick your butt for starters."

The master of the place laughs at you and motions for one of the guards.
"You got spirit for an outsider I'll give you that! Fine. I'll give you a chance to humiliate yourself. This man has been a practician of the art for many years now and he's a candidate to join the Happo Navy when they return from the new world! If you can as much as lay a finger on him I'll consider letting you in!"

You walk to the streets as the guard drops his weapon. Quickly the citizens walking around clear the area as they smell trouble brewing. For the next hour you fight the guy in the streets which mostly consists of him hitting you with seemingly weak attacks which almost destroy you each time they hit. Unlike during your training with Jaws you can't figure out how he's hitting you so hard, mainly because it's not explained to you. But you DO manage to see through his moves which while deadly are very basic. After taking what he dished out for the last hour you grin and dodge his final attack before hitting him with your Hundred Tile True Punch.

Both the guard and the master are stunned by you scoring a clean hit on the guy and even inflicting damage on him.
"Who are you boy?"

"I'm Silver. And I wanna enter."
You say with your face practically drenched in blood.

Alright but can we bullshit Fishman Karate into that cocktail as well?

A little unnecessary I'll admit but I don't see why we shouldn't try
>>
>>4484855
That's the idea, yeah. Fishman karate is all about the flow of water, while Hasshō-Ken is all about controlling vibration.

If you combine the two, you're just controlling the flow of vibrations through water. Peaks and valleys of resonance throughout the enemy's body.

If we could use our devil fruit to "throw" the Hasshō-Ken, we could potentially explode people's hearts at a distance by hitting just the right resonance in their chest.
>>
>>4484855
Also, "Hasshō-Seiken" roughly translates to "True Eight-Impact Fist" which is just awesome
>>
Amazed by your performance the master sniffs back the drop of snot drooping from his nose and the guard falls to his knees in pain for a moment.
"Fine! I'm a man of my word and you've earned your place in here. But classes are over for today. Go. Clean yourself up young man and come back tomorrow. We shall await you with open arms!"
As you stumble away you hear them lamenting how you're not a Kano citizen.

But the beating you just took was definitely something else and you're feeling its effect. You're tough, their weird punching technique is much tougher. You cough up some blood and chuckle at the fact that you haven't felt like this in a while. Since you left home actually. Even Marcellas hooks ripping your kneecaps out were a pleasant experience compared to this. Finally some fun! As you keep leaning against a wall however you feel your vision getting blurry from all the blood loss. Your legs feel weak and your body heavy. Most people assume you're dying and try to keep away from you least they catch something. Except one person.

"What a world we live in today. A boy is bleeding on the streets and nobody's helping him. Perilous times indeed."
You hear them walk up to you and feel their gaze on your back as you lean forward.
"Are you okay?"

You can't quite make out her face as your vision is blurry but she's clearly very old and she's wearing a big coat.
"Yeah. Thanks granny! I just got in a little fight. That's all."

"I swear. You boys and your fights. Did you win at the very least?"

"I didn't loose!"
You grin.

She sighs, your response frustrating her for some reason.

You cough a little.
"Thanks very much granny! No strings attached right?"

"No."

"Good! I heard people say if something's too good then it probably is. I don't know what that means because how can something be too good? And if something is good it's good and not bad. Right?"

"How much blood did you loose?"

"A bit but I'm just like this. My friends say I'm dumb as bricks!"

"Maybe you should get better friends then."

"But I like them!"

The granny takes you to a nearby bar where she asks what you want. Since you don't know what all the stuff on the menu is you just ask for a glass of milk instead. She orders you a few steamed buns as well and tells you to just try them. They turn out to be amazing and as you stuff your face with them she smiles.
"Well at least you got a good appetite. Feeling better?"

"YEA!"

"Good. That's something positive that happened today."
She seems very frustrated as she starts listing off her grievances.
"A sudden order about pirates showing up and now most of our staff is gone, the number of promising recruits is dwindling, number of recruitments is decreasing over all, piracy is at an all time high. And now children are being beaten up on the streets. This generation is getting out of hand. Say boy. What did you do to get into a fight?"

"I want to get stronger!"

"Is that so? Why?"

"Why not?"

"I see. Have you ever thought about joining the marines? They are always looking for people with guts and they can make you strong."

"No, sounds boring. Have you?"

"I am a marine."

"Cool. But aren't you too old for that? And what are you doing here?"

"Aren't you too young to mouth off? And don't you know anything? This island has the only marine training base in the West Blue. I came for recruits."

"Did you get any?"

"Only one."

You finish up your meal and make a note of the place. It's nice and that meatbun or whatever is really good. Maybe you'll bring your crew here to eat once you manage to find them. Maybe you'll bring them a few times because you may spend a day or two here. So you stand up, pat your tummy and look at the nice lady that treated you.
"Thanks for the food! You're a very nice old lady!"

"You're welcome. And you'd be a very good boy if you didn't talk back to people that much."

"Sorry not sorry."

"By the way before you leave. May I ask something?"

"Sure!"

"What's your name? You seem... familiar somehow but I'm not sure who you're reminding me of."

"My name is Silver!"

"It was nice meeting you Silver. I'm Tsuru. But call me Tsuru-chan and we'll have some problems. Now if you'll excuse me I have to wait for- oh Recruit. You finally arrived."
