Maria Louise Regnia, daughter of the Dragon and Kingslayer. She has arrived in the Altmer Republic, home of Albert Giovanna. However quickly she realized not everything was as it seems, and quickly she took action against the Demons who threaten the City. However, one might wonder why the shadows seem just that little bit longer at night in Altmer.

Maria looked over the slamming waters of Altmer, the slight moonlight shinning upon them. The crowds tonight seemed to have gone down drastically from the previous night, possibly because of the odd sickness the gripped the entire city in a night.

It does not matter though, Maria would admit, as their target was something which was not human. From her understanding it could have been one before, but it did not matter. Anything that preyed upon man was her enemy.

Finally arriving at her target the sounds of armor stopped, “So what was it you were thinking of doing?” Hetchstock of the Knights Hospit asked while turning to Maria.

“It is a simple luring of the creature out. It knows who I am and is likely to want revenge against me.” Maria answered with a solemn smile, “If this goes out right, we can easily have the creature within our hands to mount to a pike.”

“Hmm, that is a sound idea, but a risky one at as well. I take it you have Faith in the Lord about this?”

“Indeed I do, though your second guessing is having me modestly worried.” Maria answered with a raised brow.

“Well yeah, from our experience Demons can take on three men at once without issue. Not only that, but I think their senses are at least canine in nature.”

“Hmm, well that does mean bringing them out faster, though it also means it depends on who gets the first strike, yes?”

The Knight simply gave Maria a solemn nod.

Well, they had a rough guess at where the demon was at, Maria reasoned, however that did not mean they could outright attack it either. If for whatever reason it escaped, they would need to either run it down. By failing that would mean it can alert the others to the attack.

Then again, being bait means they are much more likely to succeed. Bringing the creature to them would result in getting the upper hand, risk being the creature will likely have the first move.

I suspect we should ask them about black eyed creatures later in the off chance they have to do cleanup around the city too. Was tempted to just set the building on fire, but I want to find the paper trail.

He seems arrogant/prideful enough. We just have to steal something it's fond of and run.

[Possible plans:
Somebody pretending to be an annoying drunk pissing on it's territorial markers. Maybe pay a drunkard?
One person knock and call for him to come downstairs to deliver a job offer from an interested Merchant that wants to buy out his business. We break in while he's downstairs, grab something, and he tracks us down to the planned battleground.

“Then we will attack it with haste, and directly then.” Maria declared while drawing out the Partisan blade from her back.

“Indeed we shall!” The man announced before preparing the group also prepared their arms.

The way to the little apartment was not very hard at all, the group going down an ally and through a few archways to a small door. There was no obvious problem with the door, nor was there anything too outright interesting about it either.

With a nod the men got into position, two of them bringing out a large wooden log and preparing to smash the door with it. Maria herself waited with baited breath for a moment, her weapon now poised to attack anything that might come out of that door.

“One… Two…” The Knight brought back the log and waited a baited moment to gain their strength, “THREE!”

And with an empic slamming of the item the door infront of them shattered from the force of two grown men. In an instant Maria charged forth, quickly entering the room where a person was just now getting up from a chair.

“What the- FUCK!” It cried as Maria’s spear impaled him. Though even with the strengthened blade she could feel the weapon barely making past the skin.

“Back up Kingslayer!” Maria heard from behind, to which she quickly dodged a charging man with a large blade towards the demon. However it was to Maria’s freight that the being quickly dodged the attack, giving a loud punch right into his back.

Somehow she did not think that attack was going to be something he can come back from, even with the armor.

With his distracted for that moment the other got behind Maria, poised and ready to attack.

“Fucking Clergy! Damn that bastard!” The demon announced with an icy stare, “You, defend me!” he announced at one of the two men.

In almost an instant the man’s actions were animated, quickly striking at Hetchstock with a furious blow. There was a slight ringing of metal going through the air as it was defend with a shield, but at this moment Maria did not know the outcome.

However the Demon sure did, and he was getting ready to run through the place it seems.

Maria took one glance towards the fleeing creature, than towards the two fighting men. She could not help but click her tongue as the sight of what was a helpless situation, but a decision had to be made.

“Hetchstock I am going after it!” Maria announced while her feet quickly picked up from behind her.

“G-got it!” The Knight Hospit yelled as he deflected another strike towards his head.

And with that Maria ran, quickly through the small rooms that seemed to litter this place. Quickly Maria’s sight was on the demon, and just as quickly he grabbed a series of tableware and threw them into her path. However it was to Maria’s skill and light attire that she simply leaped over it, causing the creature to quickly jump out the window.

Maria did not bother to think twice as she did the same, much to the creature’s surprise and displeasure, “Stay away you fucking idiot!”

“No, you shall die upon my pike!” Maria yelled in response.

With that the two were running, Maria actually gaining ground upon him. Without even a second thought however the creature took a diversion to the left, quickly climbing onto the roof tops with Maria hot on his heels.

Pitter pattering of clay was beneath their feet now, the freight of death easily working its way into the creature. Soon enough though there was a slight change in turrain, and as the creature took the lower and faster way Maria decided to instead ascend.

As with that she was easily above him to make the final strike.

“Are you even fucking human!” It yelled while throwing whatever it could Maria’s way. However much he tried though, Maria was able to dodge them.

[MIlitary Success]

In the moment of his confusion, Maria watched as something reached out and moved a piece of clay just a little bit. With that, the creature tripped over and Maria leaped into the air.

Well, I guess its dead right?

It was a split second decision, and Maria did not even think twice as her blade sank into the neck of the creature. The expression it had was beautiful, turning from one that would have been human into that which belongs to a monster.

In such a form, it tried to speak. However with the blade sink deep into the neck, it could only make the sounds like the wind. And like the wind, the body soon turned into ashes to leave only the skeleton.

“Rot in hell you fucking thing.” Maria announced before smashing the bones and collecting the skull for herself. She quickly noted its inhuman appearance, but soon opted to simply store her item away into a bag.

Quickly she traveled once again, gliding above the roof tops before she finally saw the shattered glass and men being carried out. With a drop Maria rolled onto the ground next to Hetchstock, who was looking a little worse for wear.

“Were you able to kill it?” The man asked as he dragged his second knight onto the ground.

“I was, the fool decided to travel towards the rooftops.” Maria answered with a smile before giving a soured expression, “How about your men?”

“I’m fine.” The Knight with a large indent inside of his chestpiece said while inching upwards, “Damn creature gave me a nice rattling of the lungs and ruined the armor. Can one of you two take it off?”

“And the other?” Maria asked while turning towards the fellow who was not getting up.

“I had to give him a nice bash ontop the head.” Hetchstock answered before a sharp clang sounded from the other Knights armor. Maria watched as the fellow slowly got up, but for the most part he’s looking better than before.

“So our next targets are those in the Bar… by the Lord how are we going to get them?” Maria asked with a small grumble.

“Well there are surely still men in the Tavern drinking, so they are likely still there. Maybe if we can find them and separate them?” The Hospit Knight answered while rubbing his chin, “Hrm, thats about all I got.”

“I don’t want to make the decision yet.” Maria admitted while looking over the two men who were injured, “Also, maybe if given a little bit of time your fellow there will get up.”

“What are you going to do then?” Hetchstock asked with a tired huff.

“I will be scouting out the place, maybe tracking down the demons themselves.”

The two knight who were up seemed a little worried, “Well you will need to go at it alone, we cannot help you very much.”

“I am prepared for that. Just try your best to get near.”

“Yeah, we can do that.”

And with that the two groups split up, Maria traveling down the streets as Hetchstock and the other knight got their equipment and comrade together to advance. There was a small hint of worry in Maria’s chest, but a simple tug upon the finger upon her neck was enough to relieve it.

However she also knew that these creatures were not exactly like the cultists. While the one was as tough as nails, the actual fighting capabilities were somewhat lesser. Variations however were possible, and Maria did not want to fight a combat version.

Soon though Maria arrived in the bar, a small sense of cheerines was in the air. However, so was the feeling of monsters within this place.

“Another drink for these mighty men over here!” A woman announced with a small smile, her finger swirling within the drink with a somewhat dangerous smile upon her face.

“Coming right up!” The Bartender announced while quickly running infront of Maria to make his delivery.

Maria quickly noted how the place was packed with people, even with the ‘Plague’ coming through. If she hazard a guess something was up with this, as the numbers did not even seem to shrink form her earlier observations.

“Oh, well hello there girl.” A man said while quickly slithering infront of Maria, “I have not seen your face here before. Mind coming over for a drink?” He asked while showing his hand to a table already full of woman.

That feeling Maria had was growing much worse, especially with this thing next to her.

Maria looked the creature up and down, a small peg growing upon her head in the simple anger that this creature was talking to her without thought. She noted that while the woman who the creature had wrapped around his finger were paying attention to them, the rest seemed to be going about their usual business.

“Come on girl, I’m sure I have give you a good time.” He said with a smile that grew even faster with every moment, “I am sure your first time will be a fun time with me.”

“…” Maria stared at him for a moment before simply shaking her head, “No, it won’t be.”

With that Maria swiftly took out her blade, faster than any mortal man could see to cut his neck. The Partisan blade did not even finish with his neck as his body seemed to burn with a small spark of light, so minut that you would not have noticed it lest you were looking for it.

With a followup Maria smashing her staff into the skeleton, shattering it while collecting the head for herself.

“...”

The room was silent for a moment, the sheer stunned reality finally hitting everyone around there. The other one, who was surrounded by men slowly looked up with a fear within her eyes Maria had to laugh at.

“Y-what are you?” It asked while backing up towards a corner.

“Maria Louise Regnia, Kingslayer.” Maria answered with a growing smile, “Or as I should be called now, Slayer of Demons and their Worshippers.”

Maria took a single step forward, and the men who were surrounding the thing rose from their seats and placed themselves between Maria and her Quarry. Maria could not really tell if the girl was ready because of simply being charmed by her, or something much more supernatural.

“Oh no oh no.” The thing cowering behind the men should have been sweating a waterfall by now, “I-I will go willing, j-just don’t kill me!”

You are severely underestimating the trouble you are in. If you want to live, you'd need to show penitence to the Church and human shields is not the way to do that. “Hmm, I will let you go.” Maria began with a smile, “But a creature like you is too disastrous to leave alive. How about if I keep you alive, you take the time to repent all the sins you have committed in a church.”

“Y-you want me to go to a church!?” The girl almost screamed in pure fear.

“Indeed, what do you burn inside of them?” Maria answered back with a small laughter.

“D-damned fanatics!” She cried out before pointing her hand towards Maria, “Get her now! Before she kills me!”

With that the series of men quickly ran forward, Maria quickly getting her blade out. She could only click her tongue as the demon looked upon them with a small sense of anticipation. For Maria, her blade was already moving as the first fellow quickly swung a fist towards her face. In return the man received a nice gash right across his forearm.

Being surrounded Maria was forced to dodge, breaking just barely around a pair of attacks before a single fist slammed itself into Maria’s side. The pain was there, but she was quickly able to respond with a jab to his right breast. It was kind of satisfying to hear his gaps for air, but Maria was quickly forced to defend against a series of attacks.

It was to her issue that one of those was in fact a broken bottle of wine. It was a nice hit to the arm, something Maria was forced to take a few steps away from. Quickly the bitch saw an oppritunity, and quickly she bolted towards the door!

“Damn you!” Maria cried as she went for a jab right at her back. Just barely it went in, but as the blade left Maria noted that not even a drop of blood left the wound.

With that Maria was forced to fight the other men, and due to her situation she did not manage to break free for a few moments.

For her troubles, Maria was now bleeding from the arms and had a nice bruise forming at her shoulder. Luckily the armor underneath her gear was enough to prevent any real damage to her vitals, but Maria could already feel the pain raking through her body.

Quickly she ran outside, the moonlight casting shadows all around the place. She could only click her tongue as it was clear her target was lost.

Can we dispel the control we have over the men and ask if one of them knows where she lives? She only has 3 places to go in a panic. To her home, out of the city, or her boss that she doesn't know is dead.
I don't think she's notHolo since we'd have recognized the husband in there. We probably should learn how to bind demons to our will or a holy contract like how Santa did to the kraumpus.Heathen kings got the chance chance to enter the service of the lord, I see no reason some misc magical being can't subordinate itself to the Lord as well.
It's only bad for these demons in particular because they're slave trading assholes.

“Damn it you are not going to get away!” Maria yelled as she smashed through the door and took a moment to look outside.

She could only curse herself in the fact there was no real way for Maria to track the other thing down, but honestly Maria really only had one chance. So with a small curse she ran down a random direction, left in this case, in hopes that she could find the worn out monster.

So she ran, and as she did so it was quickly becoming obvious there was something going this way. A small smile creeped upon Maria’s face as she continued the way, though finally she arrived at what looked to be a minor apartment complex.

With this many doors, one wrong guess would result in the bitch likely getting away. It was hard to cover up a break in in this case.

However as Maria thought about it, that odd feeling came over her again. It was that feeling that she could not get rid of, even in the Church of the Lord himself.

Taking a moment, she noticed the shadows around her moving in a way that were all directed towards a single door. Soon enough one of them reached in behind it and slowly the sounds of a metal deadbolt being moved came into Maria’s ears.

It did not take a genius to figure out something unnatural was helping Maria, but at this point she was already flying through the door.

“F-fuck!” The creature yelled as Maria gave it a nice impalement with a spear. She then quickly followed it up with a kick as to remove the blasted thing from her blade.

“D-damn it!” The creature announced, “W-what do you want? Are you just killing us because we are us or are you with the others?”

“What do you mean?” Maria asked with a raised brow, blood staining her arm in the process.

“Fufu, so you don’t know?” She asked with a widening grin, “Not even the big fish living beneath the waves?”

Did you really think nobody would notice the slave trading your boss was involved in? A little something tripped him up when he tried escaping which leaves you as the only loose end for it. There's only one way for you to live right now and that's through me convincing the priests that you're worth keeping alive.
If she keeps on declaring herself innocent we could probably make an argument that the same offer that was given to heathen kings when this religion entered the continent probably applies to her as well if any anons want a pet holo. Being a demigod doesn't even seem to break the terms of that offer as evidenced by Chloe not burning whenever she enters a church.

“You know, there was a saying I knew a long time ago.” Maria said with a stern glare into the creature’s eyes, “Suffer not the Demon to live.”

The creature’s eyes went wide as the spear came forward, “N----!!!”

It was not able to finish its sentence, as the blade already severed the head from the body proper. Just like the many times before the body crumbled away, becoming nothing more than dust in the wind. For her troubles, Maria acquired another skull for the collection.

What shall she do with them, she does not know yet. Indeed it would be prime to show the skulls off to everyone around, but that would be extremely prideful. Prideful was something Maria was not sure she wanted to experience yet.

“Oh no, the adrenaline is wearing off.” Maria quickly grabbed her arm as pain finally shot through it. Even with her body in top shape, it was still only Mortal in comparison to these monsters.

Yeah that bleeding was not going to stop, so slowly Maria walked forward through the alleys. Her vision was already starting to get blurry, and who knows what kind of horrors she was going to experience if she collapsed.

However she was able to get out of the alleys and soon enough the sight of the Knights running across the water upon sight of her.

“Kingslayer!? Are you alright? Is the creature dead?” Hetchstock asked while quickly putting Maria on his shoulder.

“Yupp, got its head right here.” Maria triumphed as a skull was shown to them, “Alright, well with them all dead you guys think I can sleep?”

“Yeah, you’ve done more than your fair share of work Kingslayer.” Hetchstock answered with a smile.

With that Maria feel asleep, noting the slight tingly feeling around her wounds and that feeling she always got in this city. It felt like… it was smiling?

It was only when the sun rested itself open Maria’s eyes that she woke up once again. Looking at her side she noted that her arms were all bandaged up while her armor was sitting on the nearby chair. It only took her a moment to notice the man in the room furiously writing.

“So, I take it I’m back in your residence Albert?” Maria asked while the boy quickly turned around.

“Y-you’re awake! Thank the Lord!” Albert announced while quickly moving from the chair and towards the girl, “The Decons brought you in this morning! They said they’ve healed you but you should keep on your bandages!”

“Oh I feel quite well, especially knowing that I had such a cute boy sitting nearby the entire time.” Maria answered while picking herself off the bed.

“W-well, uh, you had me a little bit worried there.” He answered with a blush.

“So how were you there? One, two, maybe even four hours?”

“I-it was three.”

“Oh shucks, it seems I did not even guess the right number.” Maria claimed while adjusting her clothing a little, “Hmm, did you by chance see anything you liked?”

“I, uh, uh, uh,” Maria could swear she saw a nice amount of smoke coming from him ears. It was entertaining enough that Maria gave a short chuckle at the sight.

“Fufu, well thanks Albert.” Maria called out to finally interrupt his breakdown, “Honestly passing out of blood lose was something I did not want to have happen.”

“I-is that what happened?”

“Indeed, as I got three Demons for that. Why you have seen their skulls right?” Maria asked expectantly.

“So, thats what those are?” Albert turned to face the three skulls resting upon a nearby table.

“Indeed, skulls of Demons. I wonder if something can be done with them like enchantments and such.” Maria mused while reaching for one, “However for now I will simply accept them as decorations.”

“Kinda mortifying.”

“Well it can’t be worse than my title.” Maria mused with a smile.

“Well, everyone suggests you stay here for a little while and rest.” He answered while walking back to his desk, “Though maybe in a few days we can do something.”

“Hmm, I guess that is wise. Atleast, for now.” Maria answered while Albert dropped a book into her lap and resumed his work.

Taking a moment Maria read the title, ‘Adventures of Marcio Pol’. This would be an interesting one for sure.

We had looking at the paperwork to know what idiots were stupid enough to be dealing with demons as a goal and we're gonna do it while we sill can. Demons aren't gonna have next of kin immediately showing up which leaves anyone trying to hide the evidence once word gets out. I say we take a few workers, inspect the rooms and put things into labeled boxes for evidence like modern police do. I think we can get away with paying a small fee to the landlord since any attempt on their part looks like destroying evidence on behalf of demons, so selling the entire contents of an apartment to us for a cheap price is their best option.

It was a few days after Maria had finished killing the three monsters that stalked the streets of Altmer. Things seemed to have slowly started coming to normal, with people taking to the streets once again without any worry.

In such a time Maria had been resting in her bed, with a little bit of reading to keep her sanity away. She was of course with Albert most of that time, but nothing really much came of it as they simply read their books or did paperwork.

“By the Lord!” Maria called out while giving a nice stretch, “Its been a while since I’ve left that damn bed.”

“Yeah, bed rest was never your thing was it?”

“No it was not.” Maria answered with a laugh, “And the sun is shinning so high, where was it a few days ago!”

“Well it was close to raining a few days ago.” Albert answered with a matter of fact shrug, “Though we are lucky it did not, rain is never really good for us.”

“I would believe it. Being a city on water, you probably already get enough of it.”

With that they continued towards the center of the place, the large cathedral standing out above everyone there. Without fear of retribution Maria opened up the door and walked in without a care. The sight of the Nuns and Deacons working to clean up after the Mass just yesterday ran back and forth as she did.

With a smile Maria waved one of them over, “Can you get me one of the Fathers? I need to talk to them.”

“Oh, Kingslayer!” He announced before giving a nod, “Indeed I will alert the Bishop that you are here.”

“Oh, now that I think about it there should have been a Bishop here.” Maria reminded herself as the Deacon quickly left and seemed to talk to a few people.

Soon enough coming down the staircase in robes equal to many of the others Maria has seen was an obvious Bishop. The man grew a small smile as he finally arrived, Maria noting his slightly more chubby appearance compared to all the others she has seen before.

“Ah, Kingslayer, welcome back. I see the treatment worked out well enough for you?” He asked with a grin.

“Indeed it was, I assume you were the one to heal me?”

“Indeed I was,” His brows seemed to rise at the words, “Your mind is as sharp as your blade it seems.”

“Thank you very much for the compliment.” Maria placed her hands above her chest with a resting smile, “Though mind if I talk to you about a few things?”

The man’s eyes sharpened, his slight chubbiness moving inwards, “Do you now, what is it you wish to talk about?”

“Its best not to talk about it outdoors, especially if you want to keep the events of a few nights ago secret.”

“Hmm, I guess my guess was correct. Follow me, though I ask that your Fiancee stay out here.” The man said while turning around and making his way through the pews to the back.

To say that Albert was blushing was not cutting it, however Maria was able to keep her cool long enough to start walking. As she did she turned to Albert with a small tightness in her heart, “Sorry Albert, I will hopefully be back soon enough.”

With that apology, Maria was through the Cathedral and soon arriving in the back. The Bishop himself simply gave a sigh as he turned to her, “So I take it you wish to talk about the Carnites?”

“So you have a name for them?”

“Its one they give themselves. When you’ve dealt with them long enough you start to catch up on those things.” The Bishop admitted with a solemn smile, “Though for their abilities, you already got a good taste of about all they can do.”

“Mind control, hard to pierce flesh, and a seeming pension of dissolving when their heads are cut off?”

“Have you not experienced their superhuman strength?”

“Maybe it’s because I killed them so fast they never really had the chance.”

Within a moment the man began to laugh, one that was clearly coming from the belly, “No wonder you are the Kingslayer! To kill three of them a single night, not even the strongest knights can claim that!”

“So, why are they coming here?”

“It is a simple issue there, we are a trade hub.” He announced with a smile, “They are like blood sucking rats who feast upon us, gathering where we are most prominent. They come here through either ships of possessed crew or migrate from the mainland away from the cold.”

“So… its the best place for them to be?”

“Plenty of food and bodies who would not go missing. If the problem ever becomes apparent we slaughter them, some of course escaping. This is the first time in years all of them were murdered.” He admitted with a hearty laugh.

Even while he was saying this all, Maria could not help but notice something. That was quite a long winded speech for something as simple as, ‘Well theres lots of food here, so why would they not show up?’

“Alright then.” Maria said while turning around for a moment as if to leave, “Though I do have one, maybe two more questions to ask you. I have been seeing shadows move before me, almost as if something was controlling them. Would you know anything about it?”

The man’s face was ice cold for that moment, though Maria could easily tell there was a slate of knowledge creeping up in his eyes. However just as fast as it came the man’s expression changed to something oddly jovial.

“Then it seems you are blessed indeed by the Lord’s Servants.” He answered while beginning to walk out, “Is there any other questions you wish to ask?”

“Well… yes.” Maria began with a small thought creeping up into her mind, “I saw something in the forest, its eyes were as black as night but it did me no harm.”

“Hmm, I will talk to some fellows about that. That… does not sound outright like one of the Carnites.”

“Thank you very much. If you do learn of what I saw, please say something.”

“Indeed I will.”

And with that the two were split, Maria once more returning to Albert who was sitting upon the pews. Said man got up with a solemn smile upon his face, “I take it went well?”

“Indeed it did. Have you had any troubles out here?” Maria asked with heartful smile in return.

It was a little while later that we join back with Maria and Albert. Due to Maria’s suggestions, they had acquired a few things from within the city and quickly took a boat off the island city and onto the nearby beach.

Laying back a little Maria enjoyed herself, if not for the fact she was forced to wear a mostly modified tunic instead of a swim suit, “Ah, isn’t the air just right for some sun bathing? Its just that little bit more warm than normal to give yourself a relaxed feeling.”

“Well, uh, yeah its quite good out here.” Albert admitted while diverting his eyes away from Maria.

“Oh come on boy, this is not that scandalous.” Maria called out with a huff.

“Well, uh, I mean.” Albert slowly but surely lowered himself upon the large cloth they acquired from town, “I’ve never really thought about going to a beach like this.”

“Hmm, I guess it is that kinda era.” Maria admitted with a wave of her hands, “Give it another few hundred years and I am sure people’s tune will change.”

“But that is a few hundred years.”

“Then why not enjoy something that is admittedly quite nice, thought up by men and women later down the line. If its the future it must be better.”

“A-alright.” He finally settled himself onto the cloth, covering himself up like a small child. Indeed even if he as well is wearing a small tunic, he should not be that embarrassed.

Still, Maria was not complaining. There was a reason Albert was still one of the capture targets after all.

With that the two seemed to mellow out a little bit, Maria laying down and enjoying the soft sun while Albert simply looked out towards the waters. However as Maria laid there, she could not help but notice the slight frown forming upon the man’s face.

“Thinking about something Albert?” Maria asked with a small smile.

“Oh me, uh, well, just wondering about the city. Hell if I realized there were things crawling around there, and here I am unable to really do anything.” He admitted with a sigh.

“Oh come on now, you are a Merchant not a Lord or Knight. I do not think you would need to perform something like eliminating dozens of monsters with a sword.”

“Well… I guess you are right there.”

“Hmm, well lets have a little practice then!” Maria announced with a laugh while standing up, “Come on now, get that shirt of yours off so we can start training.”

“T-training?” Confusion was obvious, though Maria obviously noticed a little bit of fear in it as well.

“Yes, now come on and get that off!” She announced with a laugh, quickly getting into a wrestle that Albert had no real hope to win. Within moments Maria ripped it off, revealing a rather slim and slender frame without much meat upon them. However it was something Maria could not help but whistle at.

“Th-this is kinda well…”

“Embarressing?” Maria announced with a laugh, “Would it make you feel better if I took mine off?”

“P-please no! I don’t want to have a heart attack.”

“Oh ho ho ho!” Maria laughed while simply walking over and grabbing some sturdy sticks that were laying off to the side, “Well you’re the one who said no, so no complaint about it anymore. Here.”

Albert quickly jumbled with the branch for a moment, finally settling it in his hands, “So we are training with sticks? Are you…”

“Yup, since you always feel so useless I thought it would be high time we have a little bit of training. Maybe in your future you will be defending me.” Maria said before her face grew a wild smile, “So now give me 50 chops with that stick!”

“Y-yes ma’am!”

With that they trained, not really spending much time in the water but instead enjoying the act of simply working up a sweat. It was a good amount of time they spent, the sun slowly going down as Maria was not mock duling Albert. Of course the man never had a chance to win, but what would you expect.

Soon enough the sun began to set…

“W-what did we come out for?” Albert asked while almost heathing for some breath.

“Well to go swimming of course. Come on!” Maria quickly grabbed the other by the hand and drew him forward into the water. Quickly Maria could feel the chill, but as with any Cold Maria was not very much harmed by it. If anything it was quite welcoming.

“Ah, how long has it been sinced I’ve swam!” Maria said while resting herself onto the water, “It was before I came to this world wasn’t it?”

“Hmm? What was that Maria?”

“Hmm? Oh just thinking about things.” She said before resting on her back and slowly drifting towards the open waters.

“Well don’t go out too far. You might be caught by a current.” Albert quickly said while swimming to match Maria.

“I guess that is true. Fufu, this is good enough for sure!” She answered while looking up, “Looks like its going to be a clear night tonight. Might even get a good amount of moonlight.”

“Yeah, that will probably help us when we need to get back.” Albert admitted while he allowed himself to drift.

“Indeed it will.” Maria said before shinning a devilish smile. With a quick motion, before Albert could react, she twisted herself around and gave him a nice splashing of water right into the face.

“W-what the!” Albert began to shield himself from the attacks, “Come on now! Why are you attacking me!”

“I’m just playing around.” Maria said before letting up for a moment to give a shrug, “If you are not able to retaliate, I guess I shall-”

Before Maria could finish she received one hell of a splash from Albert, the water smacking her right in the face. It was being a fun time, though soon enough Maria knew they would stop and have to start heading back. That did not mean they were to stop having fun here.

So they continued to play like children, many who would say they were infact children. Young and youthfulness in full display to those who were willing to go see it. Indeed such a situation was something many would inspire to gain in life.

“H-hey Maria why have you sto-!”

“Gotcha!” Maria announced as she had quickly taken a moment to hide in the water and jump the poor man. Of course he had not real chance of stopping her, so she was easily able to get behind the man and tickle his sides.

“M-Maria! Please st-stop!” He cried out in laughing pain.

“No I will not, submit to me!”

“I-I submit!” He he cried with a fury, “You won!”

With that Maria broke away from him, giving a small laugh at the antics she just committed, “Surrendering so quickly, no shame?”

“I… I don’t find surrendering to you that bad.” Albert admitted with a small blush in the moonlight, “I mean, you mostly got my interest in mind don’t you.”

Maria herself quickly grew a flush, “Y-you are not wrong.”

“Did you just… stumble?”

“I do not know what you are talking about.” Maria quickly recovered by quickly disappearing from Albert again. The next moment she quickly appeared behind him, and snatched him in a visgrip so he could not escape.

Maria was about to stay something, but those words quickly ebbed away when she realised just how close the two of them were. Albert himself didn’t really say anything at all, just the two of them waiting in the waters.

They waited there for a moment with slightly baited breaths, though it is always known that Maria is not someone who holds back. With a quick motion Maria twisted him around, and gave him a light kiss upon the lips. To say the man’s face was surprised was calling it short.

“Fufu, thank you for trusting me so much~” Maria said while letting the man go, “If ever there is a problem I know who I would go towards first.”

Maria could obviously see the steam coming out from the man’s ears, and as soon as that was happening he seemed to slowly forget how to swim. The moment Maria realized that she quickly moved into action, grabbing him so the poor fool would not sink into the waters below.

“H-hey Albert are you okay? Don’t fucking die on me!”

“D-did you just kiss me?”

“I did! Now stop acting like a child and help me get you to shore!”

“A-alright…” He said before putting a little more damn strength into his arms and beginning to swim.

Honestly Maria had to laugh a this dumb stuff for the moment, but atlast they made their way back to the Mansion without issue.

After that a few days passed along, Maria noting that it was only maybe three more before she leaves for Miaphate. In the time being, she had talked to Albert about a few things but the more she thought about it she realized something grave.

It was going to be the likely hood of Solomon courting her.

Would she get any other chance at that, she did not know. However surely Maria can’t balance these two relationships, as while she liked Albert a lot Solomon was someone she could respect. Not to mention his at politics was enough they he would surely have an army on the Empire’s doorstep within a few years time.

Its just…

“Is something the Matter Mistress?” Melody asked after she had finished packing one of their bags.

“Nothing much, I would say.” Maria had to admit, “Are you almost done packing?”

“No, there are a lot more things I need to get. I need to head out to the market for a few more things.” She admitted already producing a list.

“You know what, let me join you there Melody!” Maria announced with a smile, “You never know exactly what you will find in there.”

“Oh, that sounds great!” She cheered with a quick clapping of the hands.

With that Maria and her maid were already out of the doors, making their way to the modest sized Market that was forming around the waters. Everyone of course had something to sell, and none of it was easily sneezed at.

Looking around the streets Maria grew a small smile, seeing that a good majority of the men were selling some kind of commodity. However unlike the Academy where they were simple breads, wheat, and meat these were instead salt, spices and the occasional alcohol.

“So, what do you have on your list Melody?” Maria asked while looking back to her maid.

“Ah yes my list!” The girl who had her eyes shinning quickly got out a small piece of paper, “We are in need of water skins, some better bedrolls, definitely some form of meat to get you through the boat ride.”

“So are you suggesting a jerky?”

“Indeed I am.”

Maria gave a solemn nod before thinking for another moment, “You know, it would be dreadful if we cannot get any vitamin C, are there oranges?”

“Oranges? Uh yes there are some I am sure!”

“Good.”

With that they walked about, collecting all the things that were in need of. Though as they walked, Maria heard a small little clicking coming from a nearby corner. Curisotiy got the better of her, and slowly the girl approached the sounds.

What she came across was a man, tinkering with a small set of what she quickly realised were a series of levers and small pulleys that somehow made the small clicking sound.

“Hmm? Who are you there?” The clearly older man asked as he looked up to Maria, “Need something?”

“Hmm, I was just curious, what are you working on there?”

“This? Magic.”

“Magic? Kinda brazen to be working on it in the open.”

“Better than relying on candle light.” He answered back without a worry, “Just don’t mind me kid, I’m just here for the sunlight.”

Maria really wanted to lecture the fool about his use of language, however she honestly could not bring herself to it. Indeed it was probably more hollow in this instance since Maria has yet to command any sizable landmass.

Honestly though taking that from Bon would probably not be the kindest thing.

“Hmm, very well, even if it is magic however there must be some kind of thought process going into it.” Maria admitted with a firm growl, “What exactly does it do?”

To her words, Maria received a rather confused look from the man. However he soon shook his head in a nonchalant manner, “Its to help me make sure my concoctions are removed on time. I have had it failed one too many times thanks to relyings on just my gut.”

“So, you are making a timer?” Maria shook her head for a moment, “Something that counts down to the end of time.”

“I guess thats as accurate a word as you can give it.” He admitted with a shrug.

Maria looked over the item for a moment before giving herself a nod, “I want one.”

“You… want one?” He asked with a small amount of confusion.

“Indeed, and if you can make one that tracks the time of day as well I will pay you handsomely.” Maria said while dropping a few Golden Austin infront of him, “So, how about it?”

“...” He eyed it for a moment before sighing and taking the coin, “Alright, though I don’t recognize your face. Where should I deliver it and to who?”

“You shall give it to the Giovanna estate.” Maria answered with a smile, “And it shall be delivered to Maria Louise Regnia.”

“Alright, well I will put this to probably better use than you.” He answered before pocketing the coin.

Maria simply shook her head, since at the end of the day getting one of the first clocks ever invented was going to be a great boon to her. However now that their little shopping trip was done, Maria was going to make her way to the church.

Indeed, going to the Church while the sun was setting. It seemed modestly fitting for this trip.

Without much else to do Maria walked over the bridge to the place where the Cathedral stays. Behind her was Melody, attentive carrying her things along the way.

“Such a beautiful place.” Melody said as they finally reached the double doors.

“Indeed it is Melody, though we will not be seeing it anytime soon.” Maria answered with a sigh, “This or any structure made with the Lord’s ideals in mind.”

“That is true, and I am honest in saying I’m a little scared of when that happens.”

“I guess you would.” Maria answered with a slim smile, “I will be returning to a place where I was once held prisoner for a series of years too. I guess I should be more worried than I am.”

“You don’t need to be worried, Mistress.” Melody answered with a softening smile, “You are strong, more so than any knight I have seen before.”

“Hmm, though I am not the strongest. That much I do know.” Maria answered back remembering to the odd warrior she fought so many weeks ago.

Now that she thought about it, it was about time for the grand tournament to start. What was going to be the result of it, Maria does not know. Though she does not have a very good feeling about it.

She was within those thoughts as the door opened before her, “Oh Kingslayer, have you come to pray again?”

“Indeed I have, Louis.” Maria answered the night priest of the Cathedral, “If you do not mind of course.”

“I do not, do as you must. You are someone who saved hundreds of lives with your swiftness.”

With that the man got out of the way, and Maria advanced. The sight of the altar piece giving a golden hue as she approached it. Slowly she knelt, and soon prayed.

Just like before she felt all the evils of the world seemingly ebb away, though as she did so there was also a slight feeling and thought. If the danger she kept feeling did not even go away from within the Church, what does that mean about the Holy Structure itself?

So Maria rose from her kneeling position, her mind confirming her thoughts. She took in a breath, then released one as she turned around and once again began to walk towards the Father. There was of course purpose in her step, enough so that Maria commanded a presence around her.

“I see you have finished, is there something more you need of me before you leave?” He asked with a solemn tone to himself.

“Well, I have just been a little bit curious is all.” Maria began while looking over the place, “If I may ask, what is the History of this place?”

“A history?” The man asked before giving a light chuckle, “My my, to ask such a thing on the last day. I cannot say whether or not it pains me for you to ask now.”

“Think nothing much of it.” Maria waved her hands a little bit, “And maybe while we do so we can walk around a little bit.”

“Indeed that shall do.” He answered with a smile, “Come then, we shall walk.”

So they did, with a silent but attentive Melody walking behind them diligently. Maria witnessed the series of golden structures all around them, many of them reaching towards the ceiling. However soon after such an affair they were walking through the main halls, many of which were much more plain.

“We must of course start at the beginning.” He called out with a steady pace, “You see this place was settled by a powerful Saint, Saint Altmer after he taught the people to be above the waters. Such waters were supposedly the retribution of their God, who seeked to flood them as punish for a crime lost to time.”

“Is that so?” Maria thought about his words for a moment, “I thought the God drowned in the waters?”

“A God of the Sea, drowning in water?” The man gave a slight chuckle at those words, “That is not true. No instead the man slayed the being as retribution for harming his own people.”

They walked, Maria noting how they were traveling through the place without much issue. Few Deacons and other men of the cloth were around them. However she noted that yes indeed the feeling had grown more pronounced.

And as she looked, she noted that it was coming from a doorway that seemed to be barred by silvered metal. Behind which Maria quickly noted the cold that was coming from it and the sign that read above it.

Maria stood there for a second, quickly drawing the Father to a stop with her. She really did not want to confirm what her suspicions were, but at last that was about all she could really do since she was this deep.

“Louis, do you mind if we look into the Crypt? I wish to pay my respects to the dead.” Maria said to the man without a hint of emotion in her voice.

The Father seemed to hesitate for a moment, but soon enough he gave a solemn nod, “Very well, I shall open the door.”

It was to Maria’s surprise that the man walked up to the door and produced an exquisite key. There was the minor sounds of mechanisms moving about, but the ringing of the doors pronounced their opening with a clean sound. So clean, infact, Maria would not be surprised if the doors had been made of real silver.

“This is the Crypt of Almter Cathedral.” The Father announced with his hands demonstrating all about himself, “This is the place where all the Doges rest, forever entombed to be guarded by the patron saint.”

“Interesting.” Maria answered back with a solemn smile, “But where are the remains of the Patron Saint?”

“Those are hidden of course.” The Father answered readily, “You never know who would come to steal their remains, and it is our duty to forever protect them from those would-be theives.”

“Hmm, I guess that is respectable enough. Do you not mind if I look around for a moment?”

“No, go right ahead.” Louis said, though Maria could once again hear that hesitation.

With that given Maria did as he suggested, studying the numerous coffins that rested upon the surface. Many of them were exquisite, easily of enough value that Maria knew an arm and leg were likely paid for them. However others were also damaged, though by what Maria could not say so for certain.

As she walked around however she soon noticed an oddity coming out from the wall. It looked to be a shallow pale jetting out of it. Look around Maria noted that the wall, for the most part, seemed to quickly be older than she previously thought.

That feeling Maria had many times before was now at a climax now, and it felt like a mixture between the beings she fought earlier and Chloe Loveheart...

Maria was going to get through this wall, as she was certain it was no real wall. Indeed whatever was behind this wall was something powerful, monstrous, but also some form of divine. That much Maria was sure of it, so quickly she began to look around the door in a fury.

Just by simple studying of it Maria determined that the wall was indeed false. Simply put the numerous opening around it proved that it did indeed fake. A soft wind told her that the entry was indeed large, and the coldness. Well this place must be similar to a cellar then?

“K-Kingslayer what are you doing?”

“Finding the mechanism…” Maria answered while slowly getting on her knees and shooting a glance at the Father, “Will you get in my way?”

“I… won’t.” He answered before walking forward towards the wall, “He has been curious about you for some time Kingslayer, ever since he awoken from his slumber. I am sure he is open to meeting you.”

Doing as he said, the Father advanced upon the door and hovered there for a moment. He then took out a small bottle of a blackish liquid, allowing the drops to fall into the basin without issue. Soon after that, the wall seemed to move slowly as it lifted upwards and away from their view. What was left was a darkened hallway, no lights within it whatsoever.

“So I assume hes in there?” Maria asked the man next to her.

“Indeed that is so, I am sure that he will do no harm against you.” The man claimed while giving a short bow, “Though I ask that you leave your maid behind.”

Maria looked towards the girl, who was looking just a little panicked at the sight before her. However before Maria could say a word the girl spoke, “I-I will follow you anywhere Mistress! So if you, uh, want me to join you in witness that I will!”

“Melody.”

“Yes Mistress?” The maid quickly went into attention at Maria’s words.

“Return to the Giovanna estate. If I am not to return by morning you are to alert any who will listen to you about my demise at this Cathedral. Understood?”

“I understand Mistress!” And with that the girl ran away as if the devils were at her feet.

Maria herself turned around to face Louis, who did not make any motions to stop her. Instead the man just gave a sigh, “I guess this is where secrecy gets you, from someone who is so blessed by the Lord himself.”

“Then you realize that whatever I find beyond these shadows will decide your fate, correct?”

The man gave a solemn nod, “Indeed that is true, so I must pray for the one who once again shall face judgement.”

Maria listened to his words and was satisfied with them, soon enough walking down the halls of darkness. However what surprised Maria was that the Darkness never truly overtook her, even as her sight of the Priest died along the way. Such an oddity was likely made by the being she was going to meet.

Soon enough she broke into another room, which looked to have belonged to the crypt before. Lining the walls were a series of coffins, the slight chill coming to Maria’s bones as she came in. At the end of the hall, Maria noticed the being sitting upon an makeshift throne that looked to have been made with simple wood. Behind him, a wooden coffin rests.

“So, you were the shadows I take it?” Maria asked Saint Altmer.

The figure, a bone white behind, simply gave her a simple nod. He made a motion like a courteous bow from the chair, “Indeed I am, Slayer of Alkain’s Children. It is a pleasure to meet you in the flesh, instead of simply being through the shadows of my city.”

Maria looked him up and down, noting the more rugged look the man held. However her feelings were confirmed that he was the source of all she felt from within the Cathedral but also more, “What are you, who shares the spirit of both monster, divine, and Holy Man.”

“I am the same as those creatures you fought before, though much much older. As for the divinity, you must understand that I consumed the patron deity of this town whole.” He answered with a small smile, “As for the last part, I am loyal to the Lord above. Though I ask you, Slayer of Demigods, will you strike me down before I even speak my defense?”

Maria looked the being up and down for a moment, before finally giving a solemn nod, “That would be foolish. While I will never get the full story from you, simply put I have never heard of the Lord above denying those who were not human to his cause.”

“Indeed you are correct, at least as far as my knowledge goes.” The being admitted with a small chuckle, “Though from my knowledge it is ultimately man who shall receive the Lord’s will. I am simply a shepherd who refused to die centuries ago.”

“So,” Maria started with a partial glare at the being in front of her, “If I may ask first, what exactly is your kind, the Carnites? Why do they appear in this city to pollute the people?”

“That one is quite easy. We are creatures who feast upon the blood of man, many finding their existences in perpetual states of vice. As for why they come here, it is to say they come here because of me.”

“You helped me destroy them so, atleast your shadows did.”

“Indeed, I am not aligned with them. Simply put there are others just as old as me who want to see my downfall through inquisition.” The Saint grew a smile while leaning forward with a finger raised, “Don’t forget, Altmer is the most prosperous city in all the Austin Empire.”

“Prosperity at the risk of being devoured, I wonder how many stay here because of that.” Maira answered with a shaking of the head, “And what happens upon your death?”

“A Child of mine will take my position, though they are not powerful enough to face off the others. Altmer then be eaten away and circumvented, making it neigh useless except for our historic position.”

“So you are saying you are the greater of two evils?”

“Very much so!” He admitted with a strong laugh, “Though I have been able to kick the eating people who part. These days I simply collect a tithe whenever I am awakened.”

“The Plague, I thought so.” Maria answered with a sigh.

“Enough about me however, what about yourself? From my understanding upon this Earth things are starting to turn, and not for the best.” He answered with a glare, “Up north, in the capital of the Lord’s Empire a light has shined. If you do not mind, I wish to pick your brain on what being emanate it.”

“That is fine, but I have a few more questions before I allow that. Do you have any idea how to ward oneself against mind control effects?”

“Mindcontrol? All I can simply say is that whoever is about to be controlled must worship the Lord himself with all his might. Such stalwart faith is the only protection that I know of.” He admitted, “Might I ask, does that have something to do with the odd being that has been walking in the North?”

“I… think so.” Maria admitted with a sigh, “There is a girl who goes to the Academy, and I swear that she is somehow related to the Demons of the lands.”

“Demons? Hmm, I guess it has been so long that is what they would be referred to.” He exclaimed with a nod, “And what powers have you seen her display?”

“I have witnessed her use some kind of time manipulation, along with getting men to like her much faster than they normally should.” Maria answered with an exclamation before her brow raised, “Wait a moment, what were you saying? What were the demons referred to before?”

“Gods, the ones who rules over man before the Lord’s men and Saint wither destroyed or forced them into hiding.” He answered as if the information held no value, “Though I do not recognize such powers myself. Are you aware of her lineage?”

“W-wait wait what? So Soloman was fucking right!?” Maria began to pace around the room for a few moments, “Damn it, that explains why she felt divine, but I really wanted to kill her! She’s either blessed by a fucking old god or... Fuck!”

“Does declaring her a God’s Chosen make you that worried?”

“How easily can a god mimic the powers of the Lord? Is it even possible!?”

“It is quite possible, even more so if the God in question is actively doing it I am sure.” The Saint answered before thinking for a moment, “But again, does she have any divine lineage within her blood?!”

“I… don’t know.” Maria answered before thinking for a moment, “Her mother was a simple bartender while her father was a lowly baron. So no, I do not think it is within her blood to say.”

“That… is troublesome.” The creature shook his head as he thought for another moment, “If you have even an ounce of divinity a person would not fall so low. No, something else amidst.”

“Of course something is amidst, same thing again what Solomon said. For all I know she’s performing miracles left and right while I am not around!” Maria cried out with a hint of frustration, “Do you know something from that long ago? Like how do we take care of a God?”

“Are you asking whether to slay a God or contain it?”

“What?” Maira’s ears perked up at those words, quickly letting the creature get her full attention.
>>
“What do you wish to do with this God? You are indeed correct that I am old enough to know many things, even times when Gods slayed one another in fierce wars. However I also saw those who were captured, forever entombed in the numerous dungeons that dot the Miaphate and beyond.” The old creature’s eyes seemed to narrow upon Maria once again, “However all of these will definitely harm this girl. So are you willing to kill her, thus killing the God by proxy or entombing it along with her?”

>To kill a God so it can never arise again
>Entomb it, so that atleast Maria does not murder a girl in cold blood.

If none of this makes sense say so. I will bring more explanations just as before.
>>
>>4502363
I'm going with the auras thing. I thought it was a being of the same pantheon until he said he doesn't know what the light is from the aura descriptions. Note that while Solomon feels otherworldy, he doesn't get the same category of HERESY aura that Chloe and Saint Altmer have.
>>4502358
I'm not really aiming for a kill just yet. I'm just saying don't spill all the beans to him about Chloe since we have no reason to fully trust that he hasn't been corrupted in some way that's an unwelcome surprise even if he's mostly there. He fully admits that he used to be the cause of the plague deaths. Hence not outright saying it's Chloe related. She might be a red herring and telling them after her hides the real target using her as a patsy. Alas it's a bit late for me to be saying this.
>>
>>4502543
>Entomb it, so that atleast Maria does not murder a girl in cold blood.
I'm not for cruelty, but is there an explanation for why we can't exorcise her somehow ?
>>
>>4502554

>>
>>4502543
>While I am confident in my abilities I doubt my homeland can deal with being assailed by it's fellow countrymen for my "treason." You say she is linked to whatever god plotting something? So just as it influences her, can she influence it and cast it away with her own faith?
>>
>>4502543
Op if it is basically killing the god kills chloe and entombing it is entombing first of all would she remain conscious while entombed eg:go insane over thousands of years trapped in her own head because that seems to be a fate worse than death
>>
>>4502558
Not at all. When solitary confinement was invented the first prisoner/test subject went bonkers within 24 hours and it was scrapped as an idea for being unnaturally cruel.
>>
>>4502564
Maybe maybe not, depends on how she is getting her power.
>>
>>4502554
Is letting her go insane by being deprived of any outside stimulus for eternity or until it fails in a thousand years more merciful also didn't she try to forge evidince against us when she had proof it was us how is she innocent
>>
>>4502566
Okay I'm not risking it then because if it's a maybe it's a fate worse than death I don't want to give anyone that hell
>>
>>4502543
>To kill a God so it can never arise again
To entomb a god is just asking for some future heretics to release it not to mention being trapped in your mind alone for eternity is cruel and inhumane
>>
>>4502543
Op when was she shown to be able to manipulate time I don't recall that happening
>>
>>4502569
Where are you getting that from?
Somebody else (that we have neglected to hunt down and punish) gave her and Lucien fake evidence. That fake evidence then told them made them feel extra self righteous enough to break into our room.
I think the god is pulling the strings everywhere around her at the least, but we don't know how much Chloe herself is actually involved.
There's also no reason to trust that she is actually a Baron's kid unless there's some magical confirmation we don't know about. Any old god can just bang her around the same night the baron fucked a bartender and take advantage of there being no DNA tests.
>>
>>4502577
I thought she was told it would be evedince to mess with us and it wasn't just self righteousness also for the baron I never mentioned that

but the reason I believe entombing her is inhumane is that imagine being stuck perfectly still for all eternity with not being able to talk to anyone or do anything if it would be chloe having an at least decent dream for the eternity I would be fine with it but op isn't willing to confirm or deny because it would spoil stuff so I'm not risking doing such a thing as that is inhumane to let someone suffer forever
>>
>>4502585
Bad formatting on my part. The QM either accidentally revealed the lineage given is real or he's going with us not researching it means we think it's legit instead of being skeptical like Solomon is.

As for the evidence. Lucien said a line that meant he was given the evidence from elsewhere. Aka somebody planted it. We don't know if it has to do with all of these demons or it's just regular old nobles trying to curry favor with Lucien since we never followed up. If we're lucky Victor might find something out.

Right now we've got a bunch of circumstantial evidence but we probably won't REALLY know the exact details behind this conspiracy until we're actively attacking them. Chloe is involved, but there might be a puppeteer abusing the fact that Chloe doesn't know. She'd be at a much higher risk for burning alive in the church if she was a blasphemous demon cur instead of a legit follower imo.
>>
oh man, were at the middle point of the story and the unveiling of the main quest. So we have 2 routes.

>Kill Chloe and be murdered by either Ford, Lucien or both
>Entomb her and be exiled

There is a third option but it would be hard.
>>
>>4502607
Exiled? How the fuck would they do that without invading us we aren't part of their nation and dad wouldn't exile us while bon couldn't without risking a civil war

As for murder it would only happen if they had magic bs plus it would result in a very fucking bloody war either way we should try to avoid direct confrontation as we don't want them to kill us with magic bs
>>
>>4502607
Also qm hasn't done that bad of bs to us so he wouldn't screw us over like without it making sense
>>
>>4502613
Then we need all the support of the church we can get especially the inquisition. The earlier they can pin the menace that is Chloe Loveheart, the better. Also there might be a chance where Ford can see a logic behind it but i wouldn't count on it. We didn't forward the plan where we would send a letter to Papa Ford and with Chloe slowly grasping the capital with her hands (demon that is.)

Fuck. Solomon is really our only hope with his forces if we want to survive. Chloe might shout heresy but we need all the help we can get.
>>
>>4502613
We are part of their nation actually. Hence we're only a Duchess.
>>4502619
I'm pretty sure half of their asshole behavior is mind control. If you want to mind control a group of people you absolutely get rid of the person that seems immune to it. Either that or it just didn't want females around them. Her lovey dovey powers might be (straight) male calibrated. Any woman is a threat to being uncovered.

>>
>>4502629
Yes, that is exactly it.
>>
>>4502619
Yeah wifey would be our only hope in a war with the not hre considering exile for them is literally impossible so they would need to invade for exile. either way I agree we want the churches support so that we can so that we are not branded a heretic due to the princes influence. the inquisition specifically we want on our side and we want to get closer with the teutonic order so our northern border is secure and so they side with us if a schism in the church occurs. also about ford he won't help us because a literal god is making him trust chloe over us. In the end he would just say it was a plot of ours to get rid of her
>>
>>4502627
We actually aren't a duchess as we aren't the monarch but makain as it is currently is an independent duchy and a remnant of a makain kingdom so we have claims on other nations because of it and other things

I think I get the confusion. It's similar to how the queen of England had to get a few titles along the way before she gets the BIG title.
So we get a (ceremonial) duchess rank by default in addition to also being a princess.
Once Bon gets the throne, his Duke title folds into his King title.
>>
>>4502641
No and yes? MaKain is basically a Petty Kingdom that is referred to as a Duchy in this instance. So I guess yes in this case, but different titles are involved.
>>
>>4502643
I'll chalk it up to regional variation.
I was assuming English style but it turns out England does whatever the fuck it wants.

Maria heard his words another time, and once again thought about them for a moment. Then against for a moment after that. Even after what seemed to be minutes of internal deliberation Maria could not find a consensus within herself.

She could opt to kill the girl, but us that truly something she should do. That would be a cruel thing, something that would surely never settle well upon Maria’s minds years after the deed is done.

However on the other end, entombment was both a brutal fate but also one she could not hold confidence in. What are the chances that whatever god is trying to influence the Empire is able to once again escape without care.

But there are so many other things, like Maria’s own social standing. The state of the Lord’s lands as a whole, and just-

“You cannot make a decision, can you?” Altmer asked with a straight face towards Maria.

“I… cannot. I cannot in true faith call an judgement upon a person who has done nothing wrong, but has proven herself my enemy.” Maria answered with a sigh, “Both given fates are things I would not wish upon the girl, who has not committed a wrong in her life.”

“Indeed, is one to kill a creature that they know has a great chance of being evil. Would it be just to kill them right away before any harm can be done to the people.” The creature before Maria settled his hand upon his chest, “That is what many before you considered when they faced me. I am a creature who by my very nature should eat dozens of men within a single meal. Only through the blood I once consumed, along with my own ingenuity that I have learned to sate my hunger for so long.”

“So what do you suggest I do, Predator Saint Altmer?” Maria asked the canabilistic being.

“You already know what my decision would be, as I have already committed it.” He answered with a softened smile, “Though I am now one of the oldest beings who still walk the world. My time has long since gone, and I simply watch over my city to make sure that it prospers as a shining gem of Humanity.”

Maria thought to herself for a moment, speaking words that she did not really think about, “So will I find my answer in the Miaphate?”

“The Miaphate?” The being stood up straight with a hint of excitement, “Indeed, Slaying of Alkain’s Children, you might indeed find it there. That is also the place where both tools are located.”

“Will I know when I see them?”

“Indeed, and be wary of your future if you plan to take that pilgrimage. You will face trials, but atlast I know what they are for I am not the Lord himself.”

We need to get a rough microscope made so that we have excuses for making us a hub of medical technology/treatment. Microbiology is one of the easier routes to revolutionize the medical field with after all. Vaccines, germ theory, blood types and so on can be used. And if we hunted down that slave trading route we'd find advanced surgeons (eg cataract surgery) around the end of it if we used RL. Insulin shots for diabetes gives us a permanent customer base once we refine it enough to not grind up a pancreas for each harvest.

80% of battlefield casualties are from stuff like disease. Buffing medics is an insane increase to manpower and I think you're asking for weapons banned as a war crime back then.

You asked for a machine gun arbalest and those were banned. The wiki itself for arbalests has changed from when I first learned about it years ago but I at least found this.
https://www.wearethemighty.com/history/catholic-church-banned-crossbow-warfare?rebelltitem=3#rebelltitem3

Going by this and the fact that daddy killed a dragon via artillery we're around the part where canons started to show up so the ban might not be in effect anymore until we suddenly show up capable of machine gunning crossbow bolts into people.

As for agriculture, i kinda figured Albert had us covered for that and we could keep the exclusive and secret technology of bat guano fertilizer a secret. Bat guano was such serious business that it's a core motivation behind the laws for new islands.
https://www.spacelegalissues.com/the-guano-islands-act/#:~:text=The%20Guano%20Islands%20Act%20notably,possession%20thereof%2C%20and%20occupies%20the

I also wanna work on education but we need more prosperity to raise up a new generation of workers for the REAL industrial boom and that might take so long it happens after the quest is over.

About the agriculture thing If albert is able to keep us advancing in it then that's good and hopefully we can mass produce the iron flower stuff for our army even if we need greenhouses and stuff for it we can work something out

“Trials...” Maria answered before looking at the being one last time, “Are you sure there is no other way? In both options, the Devil will win.”

“The Devil? Are we not trying to kill the Devil?” He asked with an evil grin, “It only wins if you do nothing about it.”

“I… think I understand.” Maria admitted before producing a vial, “May I quickly have a drop of your blood?”

“Hmm, an odd request but one I can fulfill.” He answered before waving his hand. Almost like magic the vial within Maria’s hand filled up with a black liquid, “There, a vial of my own blood.”

“Thank you Altmer.” Maria admitted before giving a slight bow, “I will make my way then.”

“Indeed you shall, however before you go I wish to grant you something.” He said before he for the first time rose from the chair. He moved around to the coffin behind himself, reaching into the wooden hull to reveal a bronze sword that looked to have taken a beating, “This here is the weapon I used to injure the old God of this land. It is useless to me now, so maybe you can use it.”

“Thank you?” Maria answered while accepting the blade into her hand. Indeed the weapon was heavily damaged, the tip simply bent in half while the a good chunk of it literally looked to have been bitten off, “Do you think this can even be reforged?”

“I believe it might, especially since its in such a horrid condition. On your travels you might find reason to use such a metal, so think it as a gift from the days of old.”

“Alright, thanks…”

With that Maria turned around and resubmitted herself into the shadows towards the Cathedral. Who knows what she could do with a Brass weapon, though she has a pretty good idea on what to do with the vial. Simply put however the vial can only be used once Maria makes it back to the Academy.

We're a saint candidate. Unlike everyone else we get in way more trouble for not following a papal edict.
Fair, Daddy did use some sort of siege weapon and my immediate thought was canons instead of trebuckets or giant crossbows using trees as ammunition.
Mass producing the Iron flower is not an idea im going with personally. Better imo to keep the supply low and use it for elite squads while nobody realizes we have this technology. The smaller the operation, the less people who can betray us or the more difficult it can be for spies to find it.

I personally figured field medics turning the army into unstoppable terminators would be enough in the short term but am not opposed to whatever crazed inventions we can manage. Grenades might be an option via potions. Catapult the grenades and they explode into an aerosol spray of whatever the potion type was to cripple the opposing army.

One of our biggest problems for security is time. A group of people that grew up here aren't as likely to betray us while foreign people with no personal connections to the area might have other loyalties. We may have to outsource a bunch of this new tech we're dumping into our kingdom which leaves us weak to spycraft. I think we should do stuff like make sure all the parts come from separate place or even can be secretly cannibalized from other "inventions" we have commissions on to make something entirely different. Maybe have our main secret research, train the soldiers on how to use the new tech without explaining it, and then the school system starts up so that when the kids grow up they can expand the whole system.
>>
>>4503601
Okay I agree however we don't even need potions for the artillery not to mention I don't know if they exist, napalm or maybe even projectiles designed to shatter in the air to douse the entire enemy force in fire would work well and wouldn't be as potentially unreliable as magic
>>
>>4503601
Wouldn't flat out poison gas or flamethrowers work better than a trebuchet launched projectile if we can compress gasses to the point that a projectile launched has enough to cripple or kill a ton of people eg: flamethrower tanks / testudos granted the artillery does have its role so I agree we should get it
>>
>>4503613
That's getting into warcrimes territory since we'd be recreating WWI gas attacks at that point. Potions makes a convenient stopping point since we can control the effect or even pass out antidotes if the wind shifts.
Much of the warfare involves conscripts too. By being too deadly we are crippling the workforce of any land we are invading, encourage resistance as knowledge of our cruelty spreads, and overall turn villages that wouldn't give a damn who they send taxes to into long term enemies.
>>
>>4503620
Okay I suppose we should maintain the illusion that we aren't willing to do fucked up (but still non heretical) shit in war even if it's more effective, I suppose we should look at numbers to see if ww1 warcrimes result in less deaths of usable workforce compared to engaging in a battle with us placing a bit higher value on our troops lives than the lives of the enemy if only due to the fact that ours are loyal to us

I would say we should keep the schematics or something in reserve incase we need to employ this stuff to defend makain also this is the middle ages so looting towns and villages to supply army's on the move happens if we don't loot then the peasants will hate us that much
>>
>>4503620
Also if you think about it how is it cruel that we are using these weapons so that the enemy will surrender rapidly and so our subjects don't have to die, a quote from 40k I recall basically said that the best war is a swift war and the way to get a swift war is to do a war so brutal that the enemy will surrender rapidly
>>
>>4503630

Also if that's the case then we simply keep the horrifying Warcrime weapons to guard makain and fight off invasion plus if I recall historians believe greek fire was napalm so if greeks used it why couldn't we
>>
I will say this for you fellows scheming. In order to commit something like this, you must give me a logical way your ideas can be pulled off. The time period is early Renaissance to give you an idea.
>>
>>4503856
The ancient greeks used napalm known of as greek fire so we could make it but we would need rnd for it and for mass production of repeating crossbows we would need schematics, persice measurements and molds as well as a ton of skilled labor eg: smiths for the parts and bolt heads, wood workers for the body and bolts, and bowyer's for the string to name a few things but the Chinese were able to make a ton of them so I believe it could be done
>>
>>4503856
What I'm saying is while it will need a lot of time, effort and skilled labor we can do this if we have the supplies for it
>>
>>4503862
Ahem, like I said tell me how that would be pulled off. No one knows how Greek Fire was made.
>>
>>4503853
Most easiest thing we could do is Molotov cocktail. Put some oil in a bottle of glass, ignite and throw it on the army.
>>
>>4503866
True I suppose but my crossbow thing still holds
>>
>>4503866
There are also easier versions of tear gasses.

1. Acquire cotton or cloth (much better cotton)
2. Soak it with vinegar and lots and lots of chili
3. After dipping it for a day, let it dry
4. After drying, make a fistfuls of it and put it on a container (preferably anything that won't burn the container.)
5. Let your teargas off by burning the inside of the container. Win would be a major part of this because the gas quickly burns and generates a lot of smoke. The leftover spices soaked in chili will burn the eyes or nose whoever unfortunate to face it.
>>
>>4503875
Sounds useful for fucking with anyone that has a helmet
>>
>>4503877
But you need wind and luck to pull this off. You don't want to make your own army be the recipient of this attack
>>
“So, uh, why did you want to ride horses again?” Albert asked while they finished getting the gear onto the beast’s back.

“Well I wanted to try it, of course!” Maria announced with a smile, “I think the last time I rode a horse when I was only twelve years old, when I killed the Miaph.”

“Thats a really long time” He asked while mounting his brown colored steed.

“Indeed.” Maria said as she got onto the beast with a heave, “So, uh, how do you get it to move forward?”

“You don’t know how to drive it?” Albert’s brows were raised as he brought his own horse to Maria’s side.

“Indeed that would be the case,” Maria answered before breaking a smile, “So how do I get it to move?”

“Well, the beast is trained so snap the reigns or give it a nudge in the hips.” Albert answered.

With a silly smile Maria did exactly what he asked of her, and the beast started to move. Though she could not help but notice the beast giving a small huff at her, “IT did not like that.”

“Well, you might have gone a little too hard on the snap.” Albert answered before steering his horse forward, “Uh, I guess follow me?”

“I will do so.” Maria answered with a smile.

They traveled slowly through the woods, Maria noting that none of them were thick enough to deter her vision. It was a modestly beautiful sight, the sight of the ocean breaking through the line to give a nice shine to things.

Maria took in a deep breath of modest air, watching the movements of Albert. Her smile was simply something Maria could not hide from the world, as calm moments like this were quite good for her.

We do have some ideas as to possibilities and those possibilities work as weapons, eg: I did a bit of research and found wax and oil of balm added to petroleum could make napalm with calcium oxide possibly being added.to make it ignite upon contact with water

Granted we would need to hire a fuck ton of chemists
>>

>Simply enjoy our time together.
>>4503856
That actually works out FAR better than I was planning since it means that many (maybe even all) of my little advancements are already about to happen on their own plus a bunch of other things we can just yoink for ourselves.
Eg
Inoculation should exist in africa and the Miaphate already so we pretend we stole the idea from them. Might have actually been inoculated against smallpox when we were trapped there?
A microscope is just two of the lenses on Albert's glasses stuck atop one another. Albert's glasses existing means it's already an easy to make technology.
Blood transfusions started existing and since Japanese love blood types we probably have a better idea on how to actually make it a safe idea.
Human dissection stopped being illegal or something so we can use our human anatomy knowledge to help things along a tiny little bit and get the scientists we snatch to reverse engineer thins we allude to.
Banks are about to be invented so we could corner the entire banking market after we do a giant stock exchange scam by bringing them out first.
All sorts of measuring and regular tools begin existing around here so we can industrialize potion production

I also wanna focus on medical since modern sanitary pads got started from WW1 nurses stealing all the bandages they could get because they were so damn useful for that instead of the nasty old rags women normally have to use to wipe everything off. Might be a secret business opportunity for us? We can label it sports equipment or something so that dudes trying to copy our inexplicably high selling product don't realize what the women are actually buying it for.
Novels for entertainment should already exist but I don't blame this world for not being genre savvy.
>>
>>4503882
>Advise now is a good time to train in weapons, so Albert is safe when Maria is away.

I question the average Japanese girl's ability to make napalm. especially since QM hasn't given us much in the way of flashbacks to our old life to give us any specialized knowledge.

I-its n-not like I like thermal based weaponry or anything b-baka

Main reason is crossbows I know we can do eventually as a main weapon and poison gasses are too unreliable relying on wind while we also don't have good gasmasks

Also true we won't know how to make napalm with medieval tech and supplies but we do know napalm is petroleum and something to make it sticky and thicker (or at least we should because if we don't then we had shit taste for not looking into cool stuff) so we will have a starting point to have dedicated researchers find it out that combined with the muslims irl having been able to distill petroleum and having used it for the purpose of flammable weapons so we can probably use it as a base to get our researchers to find out how to make it
>>
>>4503945
Also knights are inside of metal suits of armor so if we use fire then we can cook them inside it not to mention burning heretics in holy flames sounds fun for us to do
>>
>>4503963
Ps Flamethrowers on humans is banned in the geneva convention.
I suppose you're technically in line with isekai tropes characters doing warcrimes all over the place.
Hot air baloon observers with telescopes (parachutes get invented soon so we can just use the same material for the balloons) could be lookouts at forts if the option presents itself.
Star forts might be feasible to create.
>>4503970
Most of our military targets right now have the same religion. Do you see how giving them the same deaths as heretics when they're supposed to go to heaven might look bad?
>>
>>4503978
Hey it's not my fault I was considering stuff that is a Warcrime and the geneva convention isn't around yet granted the church and anyone wanting a somewhat humane war might get annoyed but during medieval times stuff like boiling sand or water was used (rarely boiling oil as it was expensive) as well as burning projectiles to set a besieged place alight so there is precedent for thermal or flaming weapons being used

As for your second point I wasn't thinking about that but your right on that bit
>>
>>4503978
I don't think starforts would be that useful considering they were made to have cannons and resist cannonballs so unless someone has !not gunpowder it won't be the most useful
>>
the research to make napalm work also seems like a waste. i mean. You're researching a fuel source and not just converting a primitive steam engine to a gasoline/napalm powered engine instead of tossing it at people.

Hold up. Hold up.Doesn't Lucien authorizing breaking into any student's room if they're suspected of a crime mean ANYONE can do the same back at him or anyone else in the school?
>>4503999
That sounds like a fundamental understanding of why forts exist or work.
Here's a random youtube tutorial.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmklaR6dBVI

A star fort is simply a modern innovation to reduce dead zones on the lines of sight for any sort of projectile attack. It's using the same old design practices/rules that forts and castles of the past used except made more efficiently. Probably not as many long bowmen available to us as the English had but we can still lob whatever types of grenades we end up making at them or using shortbows.
>>
>>4503931
We'd need manufacturing on the level to let us produce on that scale. That'd be a more immediate need.
>>
>>4504022
Sorry I just was missinformed about why a starfort was made the way it was so I agree now and thx for informing me
>>
>>4504022

>>4504027
I'm personally gonna go with production lines if plausible. Teach some kids/urchins (maybe even some 3rd or lower children of nobles that need a career) how to use measuring tools/clocks. Have them specialize in dumping potion ingredients at the right time and get an education started for them to transition into the industries we're constantly inventing. Getting the spare children of nobles that normally wouldn't be able to do anything with their lives into something might ingratiate the main noble houses with us. Gonna need our own police/inquisition force to keep demon infestation from happening like it is in Albert's home? More public security means less having to deal with demonic attacks.
We REALLY need to headhunt talented subordinates we can trust to be loyal to our country.
What do you guys think about leaving a notice in Japanese on a board with a riddle that can only be answered via isekai and seeing who shows up or responds to the advertisements?
>>
>>4504050
Well I mean, wind hydro and geothermal power are still normal. The base of thermodynamics has to still work (you heat water, you get steam). Steam engines are still doable, we just need a way to source high heat.

At the very least, we can power simple factories via large rivers and multiple gears.
>>
>>4504050
I agree with what you said about production and for the potions thing the same idea can be applied to chemistry to produce various chemicals if we have partially automated machines so they don't have to do much complex stuff but in general as long as we teach them how to do something they don't need to know why only how and it will also help with keeping state secrets
>>
>>4503882
>Advise now is a good time to train in weapons, so Albert is safe when Maria is away.
>>
>>4504058
Yeah. renaissance times kinda opened up s many possibilities that we need to recruit an entire team of whatever half educated people we can find in our kingdom. I say half since fully educated ones are gonna have the most trouble unlearning wrong things.

Hydro is probably the best bet due to our mountainous terrain. We won't run out of rivers to work with turbines. The Miaphate owning the exit to the sea is a major shipping issue for us. Even a good alternate route to the sea requires taking some Miaphate land. We could probably sell an invention but even mundane modern knowledge ends up extremely dangerous in the wrong hands. Maybe decoding diabetes? Seems the least deadly thing we could use as a trade to buy Miaphate lands and open up sea routes to ourselves.

They rode for a little longer, Maria watching as the sun settled itself midway between the horizon and high noon. Though moments after noting this, Maria watched as the beast infront of her slowly backed up and moved to her speed.

“Are you doing alright there Maria?” Albert asked with a small bit of caution in his creatures steps.

“Indeed I am, thank you for asking.” Maria answered with an uplifting smile.

“Good, good.” He said before taking a deep breath, “How long will it be till I see you again?”

“Hmm, two maybe three weeks at most.” Maria answered with a firm nod, “However long it will take for me to reach the enlightenment I seek, that I know for sure.”

“Do you… think it will serve you well?” Albert asked with a bit of hesitation in his voice, “I do respect the Lord, but will he really look into problems as small as ours?”

“Small? Albert Albert what we face soon might be one of the largest changes the world has ever seen.” She answered with a small laugh, “I guess what I fear is less the Lord not caring but those straying from the Lord’s words.”

“Straying? How possible is that?”

“Very, I fear. Something has happened up north, and that something I am not sure is.” Maria answered with a sigh, “Though I fear it might be because of Chloe Loveheart.”

“How can she cause people to stray? I…” Albert’s voice soon ebbed away as surely the realization hit him.

“Indeed if she can sway a Prince to her cause what about an entire crowd, Counts and Dukes to her cause. I have a guess on what she will do, but I cannot be sure yet.”

“By the Lords words…” Albert looked up at the obscured sun with a solemn face, “Then is it right to let her speak those words? Should we silence them before they even take place?”

“It is hard to say.” Maria admitted while shaking her head, “If they were spouting Heresy, then is there any real reason to keep them around?”

“Yeah, that does make sense.” Albert admitted with a nod, “Well, I will try and keep myself safe while you are away.”

“Indeed, try your best to do so.” Maria announced with a hearty smile, “I will be praying for you from across the oceans.”

“Lets hope the Lord can hear them then.” Albert said before snapping the reigns on his horse, “Your Ship will be arriving soon, you should probably get back now.”

“Indeed I should.” Maria admitted before shakily turning the horse around, “Time to leave the Lord’s Lands once again.”

Within a few hours of the two returning back to the town, was Maria upon the docks once again. However this time they were not preparing to go across the straight between Altmer and the greater continent, but instead to travel across the dreadful sea towards the Miaphate.

“Everything has been loaded Mistress! Though I must ask, how did you get such a nice ship to take us over.”

“Oh, it was nothing special. Albert helped me set us up.” Though that was a minor lie, as in reality Maria received a letter from a simple sailor a few days ago. It had suggested employing their ship, and that they were prepared to carry precious cargo.

Definitely Solomon’s doing, as anyone educated in their affairs would have assumed the same.

“Alright, I will tell the Captain!” She announced while quickly running towards the captain’s quarters of the ship.

Maria just took a breath and walked her way over to the side, where sure enough was a standing Albert waving his hand towards her.

“See you in a couple of week Albert!” She announced with a jolly cheer.

“Same here Maria! See you at the Academy!”

With that the entire vessel started to shake for a moment, Maria looking over to see a small series of oars jet out from the sides of the ship. Several men quickly went to the side of the ship and unwound a bunch of twine, quickly pushing the ship off the harbour

And like that, they were traveling on the open sea.

The plot now has similarities to Arifureta were it's going to be Gods vs Human.

I still say it reeks of a trap.
1)All of of the agents around Chloe blatantly keep trying to steer us against each other.
2) On a slightly meta standpoint we keep getting told we gotta attack Chloe as if the story/fate itself is trying to hammer us into our original position.
3) The current situation is a clusterfuck if we go by the options laid before us instead of the asymmetrical thinking our being an isekai character gives us.
4) Everything involved in machinations has setup a situation designed around us attacking Chloe despite their initial volley of trying to sacrifice melody to mind control the both of us into enacting their stage play failing hard.

The only way to win is not to play. Circumvent their plot with our own.

If there's going to be a war, but our best bet is using the war as a giant distraction where we get all those creatures fiddling with mankind out of their hiding spots and banish them to the deepest pits of hell.

>Help around with the crew. Instruct Melody to pay attention to how the ship works in the off chance we have to escape something via boat in the future.
We have no need to learn Miaphate culture. That's what we had that old bat trying to brainwash us for during those years. We should already know at least a heavily propagandized version of it.
Talking to Melody on the ship is also a bad idea with how easily people can overhear a big juicy secret to sell.

So Melody wants a bigger role. guess that means we gotta teach her self defense and/or some exercise. Do I sense meido abs in the future?
The bandits are gonna have to get mandatory combat retraining because of how infested this continent seems to be.

QM, Is this boat going right to the Miaphate or will we have a chance to write some letters before the actual journey?
I'll probably forget in a second, but telling the mailmen to practice fighting before we get back would be good, asking our father to unilaterally ban slavery and saying we're gonna stop by (to inspect for demons ), and maybe a letter to Bon and our friends or something?
>>
>>4505268
Why ban slavery we don't have a pragmatic reason to and it won't benefit us much as far as I know plus what are we going to do to compensate people whose slaves we free
>>
>>4505288
Because we're an isekai'd person with at least some modern sensibilities, it's written right here >>4477964 that we are disgusted by slavery which makes it entirely in character and canon that we don't want it around?
We're pragmatic, not completely emotionally crippled and frankly I don't give a damn about their compensation.
>>
>>4505298
Might I make a suggestion in declaring slavery illegal for all who follow the Lord? Just putting this out there.
>>
>>4505300
think i've mentioned that on the agenda before for when we get back,It's just that within our home country's borders we can fix that by sending a single letter.

should be more on point with the time

Maria’s quarters were actually a nice sized one, giving her a nice chink of the cargohold to herself. The place itself was already furnished, and Maria realized that is already had a a small library devoted to it. With a small sigh Maria reached over and took out one of the books.

“You can read that Mistress?” Melody asked while taking a seat on a nearby chair.

“Indeed I can.” Maria answered with a sigh, “You must realize that at one point I was a prisoner, one who was meant to realize the greatness of the Miaphate. I had no choice but to learn their language.”

“Thats brutal…” Melody covered her mouth as if looking at a grievously wounded victim.

“Fufu, yes maybe one of the desires I have is to get back at the horrid hag they stuck upon me.” Maria answered with a shaking of the head, “At last, it seems they will benefit us.”

“So, what kind of things should I know?”

“Things you should know?” Maria only needed to think about it for a moment, “A comfortable distance between two people is likely to always be forgotten. I remember watching the crowds try and shove over one another for loaves of the best bread, only for the large Morse to break through them with physical might.”

“So… going to the market will be dangerous.”

“Indeed it will be, though I forget on whether or not stabbing the competition is against the moral laws of the land.” Maria mocked with a laugh before shaking her head, “Another is that even though they are brutal in competition, they are decidedly more primadic in negotiations. You cannot rush them as they are simply trying their best to study who exactly you are. Only then can we make a long and prosperous relationship.”

“How did you learn that?” Melody had to ask.

“Oh, when you become the simple trophy of the current Miaph you are dragged around.” Maria answered with a small chuckle at his death, “Though that does remind me, Melody we should likely get you a change of clothes if you desire it. Servants normally dress in black so that they blend of course.”

“That sounds…” Melody shook her head for a moment, “I am subject to your desires, Mistress.”

If Solomon can go incognito inside the academy we should do the same in his palace.

Even back then it was kinda offensive. Otherwise there wouldn't have been anti slavery movements, Columbus wouldn't have had had his ass dragged back across half the planet in order to stand trial on the grounds of "WTF is wrong with you?" for how he treated the natives, and slavers in the Americas wouldn't have to constantly lie about what slavery was like for the slaves. But yes, given what we know of the setting's religion (Our god saved mankind from the slavery of other gods) we have major reasons we can brand slavery as heretical if forced to make an argument.

>>4505312
>You're my friend, you can speak freely. That includes calling me by name if you wish. I still recommend against sticking out enough that some uncouth brigand gets the idea to kidnap a pretty young lady with no ties to anyone nearby.
>>4505361
Yes/no. The Church flip flopped a bunch when it came to slavery sometimes since they often couldn't ban it without repercussions and other times from hypocrisy like a pope owning slaves while denouncing slavery.
. Eg Rome was a slave economy, so while most of the time a slave could get to a church and claim sanctuary from a theology standpoint, they couldn't get away with trying to enforce that against the government.
It seems consistent that everyone thinks slavery is a sketchy practice. It's hard to find a real world equivalent to explain how it was probably looked upon so a loan shark breaking legs at an orphanage is the closest I can come up with.
The TLDR is that the church will say it's bad but not be bothered to do anything about it despite hundreds of years of debate concluding the enslavement of man is nigh heretical

“Well, personally I think you should adapt to their customs, because it will give us an advantage.” Maria admitted with a cruel smile, “You see, Servants are suppose to be dressed in all black so that they are not seen by visitors. With that in mind, you shall join their ranks so they never know who exactly you are.”

Melody gave a firm nod to Maria’s words, “I understand Mistress, I will try my best to acquire those clothing.”

“Indeed, though that does bring another thing.” Maria said with a friendly wholesome smile to replace the devilish one before, “Call me by my real name from here onwards.”

“Y-your real name!?” Melody almost shreeked in fear, “Are you sure about that? I mean surely you are much higher than-”

“Melody.” Maria stopped her with a waving of the hand, “You have been with me for so long that I must admit you are my friend. So please, treat me as such.”

“I-I.” Melody’s eyes seemed about to water for a moment before wiping her face and giving a firm nod, “I understand M-Maria. I will try my best to follow that.”

“Good good.” Maria answered before rising from her seat, “It must be around nighttime correct, We should probably find out if we are going to stop here soon.”

“Oh, yes we shall ,Mi-Maria!” Melody quickly corrected herself before falling into step.

With that the two of them rose from the modest compartment and outside. The feeling of a cold breeze brushing against Maria’s face. While they were surrounded by waters, she noted all the small dots of civilization that lit up the nearby horizon.

“Maria, look up.” Melody said as she looked up into the skies above.

Indeed, what she was told about the stars from Albert were true. They had changed positions, highlighting many different constellations that demonstrated the feats and abilities of the people who roamed the coming lands. Likely each of them held a tale as epic as hercules from Maria’s original world.

However this meant they were in the Miaphate, and Maria could feel something upon her. As if there were glancing looks towards Maria’s existence.

She just got lucky, Maria realized, for they did not recognize her.

This is a riot. The gods are border patrol We're probably going to have to make up an alias Maybe a nickname based on our previous Japanese name to avoid magic based upon "true names"?
I guess we gotta break the news to Melody about us being too clever for our own good.
>>
>>4506107
First of all there is only one god and you are thinking of demons second, it's a "god" it is powerful enough to find us if it wants to
>>
>>4506866
TLDR You just backtalked to to the pope.

You clearly need to go and read previous threads. This is not christianity This is some japanese otome faux Christianity. We can use our knowledge of Chirstianity to inform cultural decisions or even make an argument to the QM to let something in but acting like things are 1:1 is an absolutely bonkers mistake that only works because our QM is very lenient.
Given the backstory of our god taking his chosen people to notEurope after defeating gods that were oppressing mankind an argument can be made that we aren't even faux Christians. We're Jews. There's been no mention of a Jesus analogue at all unless Jesus and Moses stories got kludged into one with Jesus being the downfall of Jerusalem.
Heck. if it was a 1:1 the Miaphates wouldn't be polytheistic, we would be incredibly embarrassed by the general perception back home that they demon worship upon noticing that they actually worship the same god as us, they'd have a significant Jewish and Christian population, the city we're going to wouldn't be rubble, and the the slaves somebody arbitrarily decided were heathens would have a fair chance to be be Ethiopian, which makes them an even more holy people than us given that they have the arc of the covenant, churches handcrafted by angels, and ancient royal lineage. Compared to them we'd be the heretics.

Now to address your actual statement:
1) It's acknowledged in setting that other gods exist. It's just also known that the previously worshiped gods have devolved into demons in areas of our god's influence.
2) Even the pope acknowledged it
3)We had a rough talk given to us about what gods can and cannot do early on.
4) Gods clearly aren't omniscient in this setting or else it would have actually recognized us. I don't get why you're directly contradicting the QM's own latest writing with the assertion that it would notice us after it spectacularly failed at noticing us.
5) They probably take a look at Solomon if only for amusement or to check in on family. Going around spouting our real name in front of them is begging to get noticed.
6) We're the mortal they hate the most on the planet atm as far as we know. You don't think that going around where they can see us and saying our real name is actually a good idea do you? They might try to kill us just on the principle of having a similar name. We have a completely foreign name that matches the person they hate and somehow these gods aren't going to rub two brain cells together? They might not be able to smite us directly, but they sure as hell can give some divine inspiration to a horde of assassins and whatever other things are under their godly purview.
7) If Solomon has to hide us from his advisors then using our real name is not something he's at liberty to do yet. We'd need an alias anyway.
8) I just wanted a bit more background into our isekai past.
There's probably more, but I've given you enough of a wall of text.
>>
>>4507316
Srry I really don't remember the backstory of our god from when I read the archives thx also i now understand why we would want to use a different name while here so thanks again
>>
>>4507316
Also I was shit posting a bit by claiming there aren't other gods
>>
>>4507686
Not sure how that didn't come to mind. guess I was too focused on us roughly being in character at the time?
>>4507683
I mostly only remember since I was looking for setting information while playing in order to better RP the answers I didn't realize we were technically Jews all along until that post and I'm probably overthinking things since the QM (reasonably) doesn't want to lay out a massive dump of lore/history to the setting when we should have a rough enough idea anyways. I feel like there's a bunch of information that I've surely glazed over or forgotten.
