You are Ushi Walker, the half-japanese/half-american wielder of the mighty quirk “Everything is Bigger in Texas", one of U.A. High's top first-year students, and one of the attendants to Momo's study group at her home. Having kept up with your homework and reviewed your notebooks regularly, it wasn't hard to get ready for the written exams this week, and after a rather heavy conversation when you returned to the house, you are determined to pass.

You need to become a hero everyone can admire, no exam can stand in your way.

And as expected, you find the written exams aren't as hard as they looked at first sight, but they are draining. If the moaning and grunting you hear as the clock starts to run out during each exam, you aren't the only one having trouble going into the details the questions required you to get into within the allotted times.

No trick questions, just a final answer and how it came to be. No shortcuts or contextless answers were allowed if you aimed for your best possible grade, forcing everyone to use every single inch of paper at your disposition. But none of that stopped you from making it into a competition, the first to slam down their pencil and leave the room being the undeclared winner. You almost won at Math, but Bakugo and Momo both beat you by fractions of a minute. English, however, was yours for the taking, letting you strut out of the classroom as smugly as you could manage.

The end of each exam was always followed by a miniature celebration with your study group, with both Denki and Mina professing their gratitude for helping them get through the last exam. It's clear neither will break the top ten, but you are almost certain no one will fail.

With both Monday and Tuesday being draining on your mind, you welcomed the physical nature of your training, at the Todoroki household on the former and alone on your house's roof on the latter.

It was fun to simply engage in hand-to-hand sparring with Shoto, at least until he realised he could rather easily lift you to rob you of leverage. Nothing you couldn't overcome with raw strength and locking his head between your legs, really, but it was surprising. There's so many nuances of hand-to-hand combat that get lost when powerful quirks are being used that you simply didn't see it coming.

On your own, you made sure to stay sharp on your techniques, from tossing a small sandbag far over the horizon with Austin Tossin' to switching places with your figurine in a puff of mist, you spend every free minute you have on Tuesday making sure you are ready to face the robots and put up an exemplary display of strength and skill.

That way, when Wednesday rolls around and you walk out into the parking lot in your skintight costume along with the rest of your classmates, you feel ready to fill another scrapyard.

>"Let's begin your Practical Exam." Mr. Aizawa says as he looks over the twenty of you with an unenthused expression that makes it clear that no matter how important this is for you and your break, this isn't anything special to him. "As with any exam, it is possible to fail it. Do so and you won't be attending the training camp."

>"Sure are a lot of teachers here just to watch us trash some bots…" Earphone Jack comments next to you.

And she isn't wrong. Next to your homeroom teacher stands Cementoss along with Ectoplasm, Midnight (looking cool as always), Present Mic, Power Loader, Snipe (Is he carrying a rifle on his back?) and Thirteen.

"And why are there ten buses runnin'?" You ask, nodding at the buses waiting for you. Last time you were left loose in an arena against the marching machines… "Ya think we'll be split up this time 'round?"

>"Knowing you guys, I assume you already have a vague idea of how this might go…" Mr. Aizawa continues explaining, prompting a couple of your classmates to cheer.

>"HAAH! A ROBOT RUMBLE! LIKE THE ENTRANCE EXAM, RIGHT!?" Chargebolt says, already celebrating.

>"FIREWORKS! CURRY! TRUTH OR DARE!!" Pinky says, pumping her fists. "I CAN SEE IT ALREADY!"

For a fraction of a second, it looks like Mr. Aizawa is going to answer, moving his head to the side. Instead, the Principal pops out of his capture weapon.

>"NOT QUITE!" He says as he shimmies out of the scarf. "Various circumstances have demanded we revise our exam formats!"

You can see the color drain from both Chargebolt and Pinky at that. It would be funny, if you weren't counting on that too.

>"The Principal? It has to be serious…" Cellophane muses, reeling as Thirteen helps the Principal down like the cute fuzzy animal he is.

>"A revision? If the previous years all faced robots, these circumstances must have arisen recently." Creati asks, tapping her chin. "Is it in any way related to the League of Villains?"

>"Nothing escapes you, does it? I can't tell you, but you aren't far from the mark!" The Principal asks in a cheery tone as he walks to the front of the assembled teachers. "We need to change our focus to battles against flesh-and-blood opponents. It is CRITICAL that our teacher simulates practical experience as closely as possible!"

>"As such… You students will be pairing up..." He says as he waves towards the teachers behind him. "...and fighting one of the teachers you see here."

>"Against a teacher?!" Uravity asks, understandably alarmed. While she's the one to voice it, it's clear everyone else is just as concerned. Heck, you too were ready for robots, not pros!

"Ah guess that 'splains the buses…" You say, nervously digging with the tip of your boot. "Ah reckon it took a whole more than just two of us last time…"
>>
>"Your pairings and assigned teacher… Have already been decided." The Principal continues his explanation. "Your battle style, moves, your grades and even your friendships with your fellow students… All these factors and more were considered, so without further ado…"

>"First, Todoroki and Yaoyorozu. You two are against me." Mr. Aizawa says, unraveling part of his scarf and revealing a fairly intimidating grin. "Next is Midoriya, your teammate is Bakugo."

As expected, both boys start stuttering at that. One clearly nervous, the other rather indignant.

"Your opponent… WILL BE ME!" A familiar, boastful voice says from above as the country's number one hero lands in front of you, his signature grin on his face. "You'll have to work together to win… So come at me, you two!"

>"RIP." Pinky jokes, but you can't laugh. It's hard to imagine that fight ending without them needing some bedrest.

>"Ten stages have been prepared, and all teams will begin simultaneously." Mr. Aizawa says, resuming his explanation. "I'll leave to your opponents to explain the guidelines to you. None of the areas are outside the school grounds, but I'd rather not waste any more time, so here are the remaining pairings… Ashido and Kaminari, you'll go against the Principal. Aoyama and Hagakure will face Thirteen. Present Mic, you are against Koda and Jiro, try not to slack off. Power Loader, you have to deal with Shoji and Iida. Asui and Tokoyami, Ectoplasm will be your opponent. Midnight, Sero and Mineta are yours, try not to break them. Sato and Kirishima, you'll be up against Cementoss. Snipe, your marks are Walker and Uraraka. Now get on the busses, there's no reason to stay here any longer."

"Heh… Thought Ah dodged the whole getting shot at school…" You nervously joke, looking at the hero you are supposed to fight and missing your old hat once more. Uravity only sighs.

>"I'll take you to our bus, gals." Snipe says, walking towards the buses. Of course, you follow him. "I'll explain it all about the exam once we get to the arena, so try to relax for now."

>"I've been trying to improve my combat ability, but I'm not sure what I can do against gunfire." Uravity comments as both of you get into the bus. "Disarming a thug wouldn't be hard, but Snipe… Even trying to get close enough to try that will be a pain…"

"Ah'm on the same boat there. Pretty sure Ah could tear it off his hand, but Snipe can bend bullets." You admit, sitting across her on the bus. "Bend. Bullets. Kinda hard to beat a cowboy like that."

>"Right…" She says, clearly about to say something else, but stops herself. "At least we have Mr. Tin."

>"I told you to relax, there'll be handicaps in place to give y'all a chance." The pro hero says from the front of the bus. "But thanks for bringing up that robot pal of yours, I have a thing or two to say about it."
>>
"Uh? What's it?" You say, opening its pouch so the tiny robot can see from your belt. You don't talk behind anyone's back.

>"Well, this is strictly a one-versus-two kind of affair. You can't bring friends along, only tools." The hero says, pulling out the gun on his back… You don't recognize the model or brand, but it's hard not to recognize a .50 cal barrel, likely AMR. The kind of rifle that'd shatter your shoulder if you tried to fire it. "And tools might break out there. Keep that in mind."

>"Correct." Tin chimes in with its androginous, childish voice. "But tools break all the time. As long as the task is completed successfully, they can always be replaced."

You look at Uravity, sharing her uneasy look at the implication and close Tin's pouch.

Soon enough you arrive at your destination, a replica of a massive underground parking lot, dimly lit by tiny lights on the not-quite-high not-quite-low ceiling, the entire place looking and smelling like nothing but empty dankness and traces of oil and grease.

>"Now, before we get to the fisticuffs, allow me to explain how it'll go." Snipe says, adjusting his hat with one hand and holding a pair of self-adjusting hexagonal cuffs on the other, the rifle still on his back. "Y'all have 30 minutes to get these here 'cuffs on me or escape. Just one getting away will do."

>"It's more complicated than the old capture tape, but it's kinda similar to our past training, right?" Uravity observes, taking the handcuffs and shaking them a bit.

>"I reckon it's not. Y'all fought your classmates on equal footing, or the whole class against a teacher. This time it's just the two of you against me, while I'll do my darndest to make sure this gets as close to a real battle as it can get, so you better start thinking of me as a real villain." Snipe says, the twang in his accent doing little to make his words sound less menacing. "Now, suppose we do meet in battle… if you fight 'n' win, that's just fine. But if you start feeling worn down or overwhelmed, I reckon you can always switch tactics and flee to fetch some help. It'd be the only sensible choice if it weren't for these…"

The hero raises a rather tacky brace, then puts on one around each of his wrists and one around each ankle.

>"Some kid in the support department won a contest and some extra credits comin' up with these Ultra Compressed Weights…" Snipe says, slowly raising his arms and taking out his signature revolver, giving it a slow twirl before returning it to its holster. "I'd say an extra fifty percent of my bodyweight on my limbs is bound to give you a fighting chance."

"At least we are over a snowball in hell now." You mutter, unsure of how to tackle this exam.

>"Teacher, what are we being evaluated on?" Uravity asks, looking at the concrete pillars all around you.
>>
>"Glad you asked. All you really need to do is get out or take me out, but you'll get penalized for collateral damage and reckless behaviour. Don't think to try to abuse the fact I won't shoot to kill, or might end up in whatever remedial hell Aizawa has ready for you, and getting away without crossing the gate won't count." He explains, then points deeper into the dimly lit space. "Now get to the center of the lot and wait for the signal to start."

>"At least I'm here with you… Any ideas?" Uravity asks as you pass a row of pillars identical to the last row of pillars you walked by. If not for the distant bright spot that it's the gate and the ever fainter smell of grass coming that way, you wouldn't be able to make heads or tails of the place. "I figure if anyone knows what to do about Snipe it's gotta be you. Or Deku, but he'd have a plan for every hero."

>What do you do?

>[We fight! "We gotta find him and close the distance. If we avoid gettin' a few holes shot into us it should be easy! Pretty sure Ah could track him by smell…"]
>[Get to the exit. "We are gonna get shot at… Better make it quick and get out of dodge as fast as possible."]
>[...You could split up. "Say… Only one of us has to make it through, right?"]
>[Why would you know?... Oh, for fuck's sake... "Why, cuz he's a cowboy?"]

I'll support this, but I'd like to see if Ushi could get Tin to give us a couple of doohickeys that would let her and Ochako talk.
Also, it's probably best not to assume, Urakaka, for all she knows Ushi could have never... hahaha, nah, of course she'd have an interest in a fellow cowboy-type hero.

>write-in

Let me preface this by saying I really think we should hear what Uraraka has to say about how she thinks she could best help. Last time, Ushi just assumed Uraraka could do something without even knowing exactly how her powers worked or if she even could. Ushi ain't no slow learner. Let's not do that again.

>Have Uraraka levitate as many small objects (bags, cans, boxes etc.) that could potentially conceal a miniature person in them as possible, and send them floating towards the exit all at once as a distraction.

>Assuming we have some flashbangs or smoke grenades in our kit, we could also mix those in with the floating distraction and rig them to go off if, say, the thing it's floating in is shot and jerks suddenly, in order to make identifying what he's hit harder on Snipe or even blind him.

>Growing big enough to escape in a single stride might work, depending on what potential for collateral looks like and whatnot. Or Ushi could test how good of a ninja sneak she has become and surprise cuff Snipe.

Again, Uravity's input should be sought and respected, else we a poser.
>>
>>4498166
Im would be all for it but she asked for ideas. Going “idk what you wanna do?” at this point would be indecisive.

>>4498236
It's about trying to keep unnecessary destruction to a minimum. Some damage is expected, if not required, to fight some high-level threats.

>>4498255
Eh, ironicaly Ochako isn't wrong we do have some experience with getting shot at. Wonder what her reaction would be to that.

Can or should we include how we are gonna escape or will that be for a vote? Because so far i think the sneaky part is the best option, even with snipe eyesight.

Ushi's got a pretty good pitching arm right? What if she has Uravity remove gravity from the loaf of bread and then shrinks her and has her hold on to dear life to the loaf of bread. Ushi then pitches the loaf of bread with an Austin Tossin' and at the end of the throw shrinks herself while holding on to the bread sending them both sailing for the goal at high speeds. Once they clear the goal Ushi can re-expand the bread to act as cushion so they don't paste themselves on a wall.

Alternatively if we want to put a lot of faith in Ochako, Ushi can shrink Uravity and the force Snipe to engage herself. If Ochako can successfully reach Snipe and get hands on him she'll be able to ragdoll him regardless of the fact she's the size of a barbie doll.
>>
>>4498515
If normal people are able to snipe fast moving targets i think Snipe, who is a shooter is pretty capable of shooting any thing Ushi will toss. Also someone else already pointed out a target without gravity or weigthless becomes harder to dodge in the air.
>>
Ushi or Ochaco have any coins? They would make for good shields when expanded and could potentially be tossed if Ushi gets a clear shot on snipe.
>>
>>4498535
>"...Snipe can bend bullets." You admit, sitting across her on the bus. "Bend. Bullets. Kinda hard to beat a cowboy like that."

I don't think shields will be enough dude. We need to keep outside of his sight and cover won't do much if he uses that 50 caliber.
>>
If he's using 50 cal I don't understand how he's not shooting to kill...

Like, even if he's aiming for limbs that's a fucking amputation or massive internal trauma...
>>
>>4498599
Maybe he only means to use it if the situation warrants, IE if he sees a giga-tin.
A man like snipe could use the versatility afforded by an arsenal of different guns.
>>
>>4498602
That was how I read it. That he was saying "Fair warning, if you bring out the giant robot I'll bring out my anti-materiel rifle, so either don't use them or be prepared for them to take heavy damage".
>>
>>4498588
This is really annoying because MHA plays really fast and loose on what a normal human is capable of. Either way it will serve as something to block his line of sight. Did Ushi notice whether his rifle was bolt action or not?
>>
>>4497860
> Have Tin compile a dossier on Snipe's abilities via his internet connection and computer brain.

>>4498641
I don't think she reconized the gun. It's most likely custom made, much like his pistols. She did think it looked like a AMR rfile
>>
>>4498671
yeah but if she got a good look at it it would be pretty obvious if it were bolt action or not. If it is it means there will be a window between shots where he has to chamber a new round. Could be relevant info.

I think we have a miniature fire extinguisher we can enlarge for improvised smoke or there may be some hanging on the walls.

Pulling a fire alarm or cutting power could also be used as a distraction if possible. The mask we have could be used by us or Uraraka to help with the smoke/darkness.

You are facing an experienced gunman in an enclosed space. There's not too much you can tell Uravity about the type of exam you are about to face.

"Well, are gonna get shot at… Better to make it quick and get out of dodge as fast as possible." You tell her, sighing. "Other than that, wear earmuffs. Gunfire is the one thing Ah know is better than whipcracks at bustin' eardrums. ‘nd we are in an enclosed space underground so that goes double."

>"That's it? What about stopping the bullets?" She asks, looking over her shoulder and pinching her arm. "...Even if this thing wasn't made as ...skintight as it is, I don't think it would do much against guns."

"Oh, don'tcha worry 'bout that, sugah. If he uses that rifle of his, it'll take the whole limb off." You explain to her as you walk, trying to not mentally compare your situation with walking into a slaughterhouse. "Whatever you wear is not gonna make a lick of a difference."

>"T-that's good to know…" Sweat visibly beads on her soft face. "Anything that actually helps?"

"Dunno if it's gonna be of any real use, but Ah think Ah got a couple things." You raise a hand to count your insights with your fingers just as the white circle the middle of the huge lot comes into view. "It's an AMR, so getting hit by that just once 's game over, nothin' to do 'bout that… So Ah think he won't use it unless Ah bring out Tin. But if he does, he'll still need some time to chamber each round, so we'd need to move while he's crankin’ the bolt handle. Ya know, if we aren't lying in a bloody puddle. It's mostly the revolver Ah'm more worried 'bout."

>"Right, those are his signature weapons… But revolvers only fire a couple shots, right?" Uravity says, hitting her palm with her fist, a hopeful smile starting to re-emerge on her face. "If we can get him to waste his… Six or so shots, we'll have enough time to get close and cuff him!"

"Eighteen. Per gun." You dash her hopes and almost shudder at the thought of whatever dark ritual his gunsmith must have performed to make that double-cylinder design work without blowing up. "Ah didn't see him carrying both guns, so that's good, but then you gotta take into account the rest of his gear. He's known to toss some mean smoke grenades as cover, so we might not even see him when he reloads, to say nuthin' 'bout smell… Hell, he’ll likely use 'em to disorient us! His mask makes him impervious to it, so he might just start with that and then shoot our kneecaps right off!"

As you come to stand in the circle, waiting for the signal to start, you continue to consider your options. Needless to say, they were mighty slim.

>"Heh… Professionals don't really have weaknesses, do they?" She says, stretching in place. If you had to hazard a guess, she's just trying to burn the same nervous energy that's currently keeping your mind in overdrive. "It makes sense, they are the best for a reason..."
>>
"...Actually, Ah dunno if Ah'd go that far…" You say, tapping your chin to help you focus, mumbling and rambling about a hero you admire as Uravity stares at you with a curious expression. "Weaknesses...Ah know he can see through smoke… But is it thermals or sumthin' else? There might be something there… Also, Snipe can shoot and control a handful of bullets at a time, but Ah've never seen him fan fire, so it can't be too many… Maybe we can overwhelm him with a cloud of trash?... What do you think, anything Ah missed?"

She looks surprised at you asking her a question, which hurts a little bit again. You made assumptions once and it didn't work out, time to prove you do learn from the past.

>"Huh? Well…" Uravity starts, scratching the back of her neck and looking up, to the lights about 7 feet above you. "I don't know as much about him as you… I was thinking that he still needs to see what he's shooting at to use his quirk, right? Most quirks don't work indirectly, I don't think he can use thermal cameras… We could try to take out the lights? I'm not sure blindly fired bullets are any better for our circumstances though..."

"No, that's a good point. If we are gonna make a break for it, makin' it as hard as possible to spot us might be a good plan."

>"I see everyone is in position?" A voice asks through unseen speakers. "Let's begin the final exam for U.A. High's First Years!... Ready?"

"Say, if I handed you a bunch of stuff, could you make it float?" You say, lowering your stance and getting ready to jump out of the way on the off chance you can react fast enough. "Ah could try takin' out the lights 'n' Ah can hand you a mask, Ah just need to check if Ah packed correc-"

>"GO!" The voice interrupts you and not a second later a green canister flies lazily towards you and Uravity. Despite knowing it's an irritating smoke grenade and even expecting it, both of you immediately jump behind a pillar, not wanting to be caught in the open when lead starts flying.

>"Well heroes… Ah reckon it's time for y'all to show what you are made of." Snipe says, far behind the growing smokescreen. "'cause we teachers are not gonna hold back, so it better be the sterner stuff."

Once we’ve sown enough confusion, we need a plan to capitalize. I say we:

If you could, you’d follow Uravity's plan as a ninja would, precisely and cleanly killing the lights all simultaneously. With his mask and smoke, the sudden darkness of a total blackout would certainly affect Snipe worse than you or Uravity and you could sneak out without making much of a fuss. But you don't have the time to look for a light switch, nor do you want to risk getting shot in the back while flipping it…

That just means you won't be able to do it discreetly, but instead by applying copious amounts of force, and God knows you are good at that. Quickly glancing at the lights overhead, they don't seem to be embedded in the concrete ceiling but instead hanging down and covered by a metallic mesh.

"Everything you can get your hands on, float it! The worse his line of sight, the better the odds get for us!" You shout over the din of dispensing gas and some probing shots from Snipe. You wrap your hand around your whip's handle, refamiliarizing yourself with its weight, length and girth before putting years of practice to the test as you dash towards the next pillar. You infuse mass into the whip as it lashes out, noting how it extends faster than it thickens and feeling the cracker wrap around the metal surrounding the drab and oddly shaped light fixture you were aiming for. Naturally, you pull with all the strength your arm can muster while still running and tear it off the ceiling.

A shower of sparks discharges in the surrounding air for a scant second before the shadows push in, the already gloomy area getting noticeably dimmer as the mesh of metal and glass slams into the concrete floor behind you, spraying glass shards around.

You barely have a moment to celebrate your successful idea before more rounds hit the curved side of the pillar you are now hiding behind, cracking its surface as they embed in it and send concrete dust into the air. Each gunshot reverberates in the cavernous chamber a dozen times over before fading off.

Good, the bigger the mess, the best for you.

The thundering noise makes your ears twitch out of control, trying and failing to locate the source of the echoes. You can only be thankful that your hair keeps that instinct hidden. Looking back, you see Uravity worried yet determined to help behind the initial pillar. You give her a smile and nod for her to follow before doing it all again, even faster this time as you continue your diagonal path from your starting point. Whip, wrap, pull, CRASH!, providing cover as you take down the next light fixture in the row.
>>
Now fully confident in your technique and execution, you waste no more time behind the second pillar, immediately ripping the next light off the ceiling as you sprint towards a third. You get the sense that the shots are starting to be more directed at your general position rather than specifically at you. Snipe can still clearly tell where you are, but you think that's due to the helluva ruckus you are making as you spring from cover to cover… You still wouldn't want to take the risk and stand in the open though.

The next time, the fall of the light wasn’t just the usual violent crash you were getting used to. The sound of glass and metal was immediately followed by a rhythmical chiming sound as a shimmering curtain of glass shards spread through the air, slowly floating and reflecting what little light was left in the area into what looks like a miniature night sky, full of big bright stars.

Behind you, you see your partner pick up another destroyed light fixture and pitch it up, letting its glimmering charge spread. Noticing her actually using her helmet's visor for once, you wrap your half-cape around your lower face and neck. Glass bits are pretty but you don't want them anywhere near your face.

"Atta girl!!" You root for her before trying your routine once more, this time knowing your partner follows behind, tearing down another light with what feels like little more than an application of Everything is Bigger in Texas and a flick of your wrist, making sure the broken light falls near Uravity so she doesn't have to deviate her running line and risk a shot…

At least that'd be your excuse if she were to ask you later why you almost ran into the wall.

"<Fuck>. End of the line." You say as Uravity rushes behind the weird-shaped pillar, coming to lean next to you as the gunshots start breaking and chipping your cover at the final column, sending more dust and debris into the air. "No more room this way."

>"If he's shooting from the gate, trying to go straight there will just make us easy targets!" Your partner summarizes, and you nod in agreement as you catch up on your breathing.

"Ain't like we have much of a choice!" You tell her as you shake your head in a futile attempt to get some sort of respite from the gunshots affecting your ears. "We are like, what, almost halfway there?!? We need to either beat him or get past him! And we can't stay put anyway. Ah reckon these pillars are gonna go up in a dust bowl if he keeps shootin' chunks off them, and Ah don't wanna get trapped under rubble in some damp parkin' lot!"

>"This isn't some cheap parking lot and these pillars can take some hits!" Uravity replies, knocking on the pillar currently standing between you with a smile. "This is a G-Cans replica, people work really hard making sure these projects are almost indestructible!"
>>

"...What does that even mean!?" You ask, starting to get annoyed by this interlude in your progress. The only times you've heard anything about G-Cans, it had nothing to do with any structures and you wished you had punched the pervs in the mouth.

>"It's where the water goes in case of a flood!" She sort-of explains, clearly oversimplifying it to the point of uselessness but seemingly equally exasperated.

"That still sounds like any underground parking lot during hurricane season!" You yell back, trying to be heard over the new volley of gunfire hitting the pillar and the concrete chunks flying off it. "Besides, it looks just like the area the Power Rangers always end up fighting in!"

>"What does THAT mean!?" Uravity asks back, raising her voice further and out-stretching her arms as she releases more debris to float into the line of fire. You aren't sure if the gunshots are getting louder or your hearing is losing sensitivity, but it's hard to hear her over the increasingly large cracks of concrete growing on the riddled pillar. "The G-Cans are known for looking like a temple!"

"Ah'm just sayin' the place looks like a swampy-ass public garage!" You retort, paying more attention to what she's doing than what she's saying when you notice something strange in a shard of fallen concrete.

Scanning your surroundings for a second, you quickly spot another shard with the same aberration safely behind the pillar and pick it up.

>"And whatever show you saw them in, the G-Cans are where mysterious and pivotal scenes are filmed! They are awe inspiring!" Uravity continues to jabber on the parking lot's merits

"Hey! Have a gander!" You say with some relief, holding up the piece of concrete with a small yellowy-orange splatter. "He's usin' the same wax bullets Tin uses! These things slow down way faster than actual bullets!"

>"-historicall-wait, does that mean it's safe!?" Uravity asks, right as another shot finishes chipping a hole into the pillar, sending pounds of broken concrete rolling on to the floor. She nudges the pile to join the rest of its floating kind in the area.

"<Fuck no!> It just means your blood gets to stay inside you if you’re hit!" You eloquently assert, shimmying to the side and preparing to bolt away if the pillar finishes crumbling to pieces. "Like, not gonna kill anyone... immediately! But unless these pillars are actually flimsy as shit, them wax bullets are still packin’ enough of a punch to cause a trip to Recovery Girl's! Second place to a regular bullet is still pretty freakin' fast!"

>"Not trying to be rude or anything, but doesn't that mean nothing's actually different!?" Your teammate continues to add to the miniature asteroid field at the other side of the pillar. Likely the reason you can't be easily spotted, but you cannot really see what lies ahead either. "We still need a new plan!"
>>
"Well, Ah think Ah'm onto somethin'!..." You say, taking a gamble and poking your head out of cover.

As you suspected, the next shot briefly pushes a line through the cloud showing it having curved around a distant pillar before slamming into the concrete next to your head, leaving your right ear ringing as you jerk back to safety. The dust refills the line nigh immediately, but it's a clue and could be useful.

Normally, there's no chance for most people to dodge a bullet, what people really try to dodge is the aim of the shooter, which would be just as useless against Snipe thanks to his quirk… But the wax bullets are slower. Maybe slow enough to try and dodge them? Certainly still dangerous enough to splinter some bones if you falter though.

>"What would Deku do?" Uravity recites as she looks about, not yelling as you have been doing to hear each other but still barely loud enough for you to make out.

>What do you do?

If we try to dodge the bullets because they're downgraded from real ones, we'd just be taking advantage of the fact it's a training exercise, exactly what Snipe said not to do when he said: "Don't think to try to abuse the fact I won't shoot to kill."

It's also probably bad to use exclamation points in any conversation about sneaking up on someone in the room with you.

>[Signal to Uraraka that the two of you should sneak out.]
And also:
>[Use substitushi jutsu to fill the room with an obscuring mist!]

If Uraraka is thinking tactically like Deku, she'll float us both silently above Snipe under cover of aerosolized mass.

(I'm guessing this is a quirk/outthink roll for Ushi and Uraraka both.)
>>
>>4502809
This >>4502836
Is a great plan, if we use mist and the debris field as cover and float unseen to the top of the roof we can either escape or attack him from above.
>>
>>4502809
Whisper the plan with Uraraka- use substitushi to spawn the decoy and throw it across to a different pillar, at a speed so snipe would notice the movement, but not really notice it's fake.
Meanwhile ochako 0gs the both of us and we climb the pillar were hiding behind and stealth crawl along the ceiling closer to the gate. If Uraraka is worried about her vomit issue, she can get a piggy back ride while we do the 0g maneuvering

Doesn't leaving our mist out of our body really hurt? And if we can't hear ourselves over the gunfire then Snipe won't hear us all the way in the finish line.
>>
>>4502852
If you’re talking about sneaking out to the gate, which it sounds like you are, you should probably modify your vote from ambushing Snipe. Either plan is decent, though I prefer just leaving.

Also, I think holding the mist out was described as like holding our breath? It’s been a while, but we can use it as part of a signature move without the kind of warnings that Austin’ Tossin’ has, so it can’t be too hard on Ushi.
>>
>>4502809
>>4502836
I'll agree to this, though I do prefer it as an escape option rather than as an ambush option. If we do use it as an ambush option, though, we might want to shrink down Uraraka as well, then use a variant of Austin tossin' to push ourselves and Uravity through the air at extremely high speeds so that there's less of a chance of him being able to react before we're right above him. Once we get to that point, well, he doesn't exactly have super strength; if we grow huge and pin him, he can't fire his guns, and thus loses.
>>
>>4502858
I actually want to fight, I don't know where did you get that from.
From using substitushi it was said that it felt like having our fingers stuck in a vacuum, and theres a big difference between leaving a bit of mist behind and making a smoke screen.

Okay, cool. I had thought that “And if we can't hear ourselves over the gunfire then Snipe won't hear us all the way in the finish line.” meant you wanted to sneak to the finish line, but I see now you meant that Snipe, who is presumably over at the finish line, wouldn’t be able to hear us.
>>
>>4502836
Uraraka still has problems with floating herself causing nausea, right? Maybe we should have her just float Ushi, while Ushi shrinks and carries her. Having less than a kilogram of weight on her would still allow Ushi to clamber around the ceiling by pushing off of the pillars, and we can re-expand Uraraka when we get closer to Snipe for a sudden ambush.

Oh! Here's an idea, an alternative method to the Out-Think one.

>Wait for Snipe to continue to whittle down the pillar, taking in his position as much as possible as he does so.
>The pillar starts to collapse
>Urarvity gives the whole thing it weightlessness right before it timbers
>Jump up and Austin Tossin' the whole kit and caboodle at Snipe.

>"Deku eh? Wait, that's it! He want's the pillar to collapse? Well he can have it all for himself."

Its like a different version of Uravity's Comet Home run. I would even suggest she head for the goal right after in the same way as that match but we need to succeed on this next part first.

I guess a different take is once the pillar is weightless, Ushi and Uraraka can get airborne with it and start making headway to the exit with it as a shield ahead of them. Sort of a like an Ender's game battle room tactic.

>>

I'm a fan of starting with the moving barrier plan and transitioning into big scary projectile plan. We absconded with the weightless pillar, if we can dislodge it, and use it to block his shots while escaping with it and then throw it at him once we get close to the exit to force him to dodge. If we pin him with the pillar we can transition to capture, otherwise we make our escape. I would rather do this plan without destroying the pillar to avoid destruction penalties, so we should see what we have in our bag to enlarge that can be a stand in. Also we should be constantly putting up a shroud of mirrored glass with Uravity's help to make it harder to see us even if we have to keep enlarging a single piece and shattering it.

I can’t be help but notice that we’ve got two options involving sneaking, but neither involve shrinking?

I know my “Super Substitushi” plan is ambitious, but I do still think sneaking out is probably better than sneaking up on Snipe. If we engage him we’ll have put ourself in prime position to get shot.

Maybe we should shrink and float and sneak out under the existing amount of smoke and dark and debris? Does that make sense?
>>

Have Uravity make some big chunks of debris weightless so we can launch them, hard, at Snipe's general position in an easily aimed straight trajectory--that ought to occupy him.

But first: hand her a small piece of debris and tell her to zero-g it and send it flying after the other stuff in the same direction once we've shrunk ourselves way, way down so we can ride it in like a damn colt. Dismount once we are either close enough to the exit or behind Snipe to ninja cuff him.

Make sure to be a good little nin-nin and keep as much of this out of sight and on the sly as possible until the last possible moment. If Snipe can dodge the onslaught and still spot our tiniest possible self amidst all that debris in dodgy lighting and poor visibility, then frankly: he can go ahead and take over for All Might--because his powers are bullshit.

But make sure we can at least peak at what's going on while we go for a ride, else how would we know when to act? Oh, and for God's sake: be sure to impress upon our ally how important it is to impart as little spin as possible when she throws. Think shotput, not baseball.

I think an important lesson here we’d do well to remember is that actions utilizing our quirk will usually outperform actions that don’t. If we only use two dice pools with no modifiers (body part plus skill) versus their three (body part plus skill plus quirk, applying reliable and/or mighty and/or speed), we’re gonna get trounced most of the time. It’s why, despite the superhuman feats you can achieve just by training your regular body or using support equipment, you just don’t really see quirkless heroes.

If our legs still work next round, maybe we should just do a double jump and try to dash through the gate before he can react? It’s hard to hit a supersonic movingtarget.

I, umm, wow.

I was going to complain about my write-in not getting enough time to gain traction, but I can see Snipe isn't having any of our guff. Even a hypothetical plan that is 100% foolproof is worthless if you get shot before you can put it in motion.

Sorry about the time, I write when I can and the vote was tied for a while, so I just waited a bit after the tie was broken and called it.
>>
>>4504587
It's not as bad as it looks. Ushi said Snipe doesn't do fan fire, so he probably doesn't have Spray and can only choose one of those sets for his shot. And even with wax bullets and the generally improved durability of shonen characters, our teacher wouldn't want to shoot a kid in the face. So he's probably going to choose the 3x6 and do some hefty (but potentially survivable for Ushi) Guts damage or the 2x7 for Hands damage and try to disable our Quirk.
>>
>>4505185
Unless he’s fast enough to aim two or three times.
>>
>>4505185
I'm of the opinion that it would be in bad taste and against the spirit of this particular event to take us out too quickly. What's the point of the test if we don't get a chance to do anything? We are still first years against experienced heroes. At most I see superficial damage and a complication of either capture or escape this early on in the test.
>>
>>4505219
Maybe. He'd need to drop dice to do multiple attacks without Spray, and his dice pool was the same as last round, but maybe he was doing multiple attacks last round, too.
>>
>>4505221
There are only so many layers of kid gloves Snipe can justify. He’s already 1v2, weighted arms, using half his normal guns, and wax bullets, and killing time shredding our cover. Is it really reasonable to intentionally wait a few rounds before actually trying on top of all that?
>>
Well at least it's a good thing we don't need good grades anymore to get our bike. Also this last couple test have being horrible for Ushi uh?
>>
>>4505089
This is not a good example of that. Snipe just decided (or accidentally) went full pro on us. Even if we we going 9d10 some shit was gonna happen to us.
>>
If we’re still in this thing at the end of the next update, maybe we should just austin’ tossin’ Uraraka through the exit gate. It’s a straight shot. Worked for Iida and Ojiro.
>>
As the shots collide with the damaged pillar you are hiding behind of, you stop and try to think what to do next.

The plan worked so far, but crawling forwards will only get more dangerous as you go, up to the point where Snipe will be able to spot you through the debris despite your team's best efforts in maintaining your nebulous cover. Staying put and waiting for an opportunity that may never come would only get you into a fight with the clock.

You need to get out or take him out fast… and with little to no visibility, neither looks too easy. Sure, the path to the exit gate should be a straight line, but without knowing where Snipe is, you can only assume he's near the gate, ready to mow down anyone trying anything cheeky.

In both cases, fight or flight, you need to find your gun-toting foe if you want to succeed...

"Let's use the cover we already have and try followin' the shots back to him! Then we can take him out, all sneaky-like!" You tell your partner, slamming your fist into your palm. "He may have eagle eyes, but Ah reckon he's a normal guy otherwise. Ah could toss a giant rock at him or we could sneak up to him and kick his ass!"

>"The cover we have? I'm not sure the cloud alone will be enough, and this pillar is crumbling down!" Uravity replies as she continues adding the newly formed debris to said cloud, sounding like she had more to say, but staying her tongue.

You wait for a second for her to continue, but she just stops there, so you continue with your plan.

With chunks falling off the pillar, it's rather easy to peek behind it, and now that you know what to look for, spotting the small dust explosions of small floating bits of concrete being hit by Snipe's curving shots and the lines they trace in the debris cloud is easy.

Every shot that slams into the pillar is another shot you can trail closer to their source. With the cloud slowly floating upwards, the tops of the pillars remain unobstructed, which you use as a handy reference to try and find out behind which one is Snipe hiding.

>"This is more rubble than support structure..." Uravity nervously mutters near you as the pillar takes even more hits.

She's not wrong at all, the damn thing looks like an apple core, but…

"Hold it…" You loudly mutter back, spotting a trail revealing another curve in the last of the shots' trajectory. "Ah think Ah got him!"

Two pillars to the left of where the gate should be… You aren't 100% certain, but good enough for field mathematics, you hope. Without the trails in the cloud, every shot just looked like it was shot from a different pillar, but all trails in the cloud seem to have come from there, just taking different, curved paths to reach your cover.
>>

C-CRACK! sounds your cover, the small chips of concrete flying off are now replaced by chunks large enough to crush you as the pillar starts collapsing.

You just look at your partner, see the equally alarmed look in her face, and dive away from the concrete avalanche, looking for new cover while trying to stay focused on Snipe's assumed location and-

...And you shudder when you see how terribly, terribly right you were. A small glint of metal and a flash, muted by the smoke and dust confirm your suspicions.

You can't see the bullet itself but just seeing how a floating piece of concrete three feet in front of your face suddenly exploded into dust is enough to daze you.

>"Standing in the open like that now, Walker? What happened, got bored of hide and seek? Smokescreen or not, I reckon it'd be hard to mistake that silhouette." Snipe taunts you from his hiding spot. "Now, we were asked to not hold back, so let's put you to sleep. Got Uraraka to hunt down too, you know."

Before you can see the second muzzle flash, Uravity slams into you, effortlessly carrying a massive piece of the collapsed pillar to put up as a shield between the two of you and the lone gunman.

>"I knew this was going to happen." She continues to mutter as the next bullet cracks your improvised cover.

"Atta girl! Great sa-"
Is all you manage to say before a bullet bends around the piece of concrete and hits you in the chest, sending you flying back an inch or two. It feels like someone hit you with a hammer, making all of your ribs crack and groan as they absorb the rest of the impact that your now cramping muscles didn't, pushing all air out of your lungs in the process.

>"Walker!" Uravity cries, grabbing you by the wrist and dragging you to the next closest columns as her shield is whittled down by gunfire. "Oh, really!?"

As you try to move again, you can only summarize that your entire torso feels like it's made of overcooked noodles and your breath tastes like iron, latex and a hint of vanilla.

"Ah-Ah'm okay… It'll take more than that to take me out!" You say, leaving out the "just a little more" part since you are trying to sound encouraging even as you lean on the pillar to stand up, glad to not feel any internal splintering but dreading the bruising. You also take an instant to dry your tears with your half-cape.

It's non-lethal, but it's a new contender for the spot of the worst pains you've had to endure… A list mostly of moments that have happened at U.A. now that you think about it.

>"How does this even happen?!" Uravity asks, holding a surprisingly whole wax bullet up to your face. It's just a blob, but it clearly didn't splatter against its target.

>Shrink, sneak over to another spot, and then enlarge the Substitushi doll in a pose like it's leaning against a pillar for support. Make it look like we were trying to sneak up on him but lost a hold of our focus and had to cancel our Quirk. Snipe may know that our Quirk makes permanent changes instead of being an effect that needs to be maintained, but likely hasn't internalized the idea. He should buy that we're tired and hurt and can't keep it up.
>If Tin can get sufficient volume without us enlarging them enough that Snipe would take out the AMR, have them relay the sound of Ushi breathing heavily while waiting near the decoy, to add an audio component to the ruse. Otherwise, don't risk our precious little buddy.
>If/when Snipe takes out the decoy, pop up in another spot and distract him with ourselves. Attempt to dodge by shrinking after he takes a shot, but the main point is to buy as much time with his attention on us as we can. If he takes us out, it's fine so long as Uravity gets to the exit, only one of has to escape for both to pass.
>While we're drawing aggro, Uravity sneaks across the top of the room towards the exit. Make sure that the direction we head keeps his lines of sight in the opposite direction from Uravity.

Best idea I have. Not a great one, just putting stuff out if anyone wants to dissect it for their own plans.

First and foremost tell Urarararara were Snipe is. Than tell her we will shrink and distract Snipe. She should use her gravity powers to floa through the ceilling and sneak

Considering your options of taking another hit like that and staying upright seem mutually exclusive, it's clear to you that you need to end this quickly. Every second you waste makes it more likely that you'll be taken down and cause your teammate to fail her exams.

"Well, at least we do know where he's at now." You say, clutching your chest as the inflammation kicks in and pointing in the hero's direction with your free hand. "Over there, by the way."

>"By the way? ...Sure." Uravity replies, clearly displeased. "...Can you keep going? We’re getting close. We just need to close the last few dozen meters..."

"What we’re doin’ ain’t sustainable, sugah.“ You shake your head at that. ”We can't just crawl forwards 'n' hope for the best." You tell her in as reassuring a tone your shuddering breath allows, starting to worry about the all-too-real possibility of failure. “Now you could pick up a shield and Ah’ll hurl you through that gate. Ah know you’ve got landin’ boots. Or you could distract’m and Ah’ll ninja-leap outta here mahself. Now that we know where he is, we could charge’m or start hurlin’ boulders, knock down that cover of his… But we can’t keep this up forever."

>"So at least one of us is going to get shot." She summarises, her surly expression telling you all you need to know about how much she likes your ideas. Not at all.

>"THIS IS AN ANNOUNCEMENT." The speakers blare, making sure everyone in the prefecture can hear the blasted news. "THE FIRST TEAM TO PASS IS TODOROKI AND YAOYOROZU!"

"They have to rub it in, too…" You mutter after a pained chuckle. If anyone else was going to best your time, it was going to be them. Despite your own pain and the hard situation you are in, you still take a second to imagine both of your dear friends lugging around a hogtied Mr. Aizawa. A certain part of you is halfway between amused and comforted by the thought.

>"Do you think they announce the first ones to fail too?" Uravity asks, quickly peeking behind cover and narrowly pulling herself back in before a bullet hits the pillar and sends another puff of dust flying into the dust storm your teammate made. "...I don't want to find out."

"Can't say Ah do either." You reply, quickly stretching your arms and midsection. It hurts, but you need to be ready for whatever happens next. "So, what's the plan?"

>"Uh? The plan?" She lets out, flat-out confused by your query. "Well… There's one thing I think we could try… But it might be too risky, especially with you already injured.

>"Hey kids, just to be safe, you aren't bleeding out internally, right Walker!?" Snipe then yells from his own section of pillars.

"Ain't the case, teach!" You yell back before facing your teammate once more and cracking your knuckles. “You tell me, Uravity. Ah just need to know what Ah’m doin’.”

>"Good to know! Carrying on with the rustling then!" Snipe says before another chunk of your cover flies off.

>"...You said you could hurl me to the exit, right? Like with Yaomomo, but hopefully with less splatter?" Uravity says, holding her chin in a way you can't help but think is too similar to Deku's to be coincidence. "I'm pretty sure you've gone supersonic with those pitches…"

"...Will y'all ever stop bringin' that up?" You sigh painfully and grumble. It was the right thing to do at the time!

>"Can you throw me at Snipe instead?" Uravity asks, her pensive expression slowly turning into an eager, excited one, the first that you’ve seen from her in a long while. "Have you noticed how he steps out of cover first, raises his pistol, then, presses the trigger? I think it's those weights. It takes him about a second or a bit more… If you can pull off a pitch like those before, I could take him down!"

"'nd if you can't?" You ask, imagining how it'd feel to not only get shot, but be speeding towards the bullet as well.

>"...Then you make a run for it." She says, her smile faltering for a second, unlike her determination. "You already got hit getting us this far, so please, it's my turn to… <Carry the team?>"

All things considered, her English is pretty good.

Snipe's a Gunslinger, he probably has some levels of Speed himself. But even if he does hit us first, we should still get Uravity tossed, and still be in the fight. He's dealing Shock damage, so Ushi can't be taken out by losing a single stat. He's got to take out at least three. So we will get Uravity tossed no matter what, but possibly with only a 2x10 instead of 3x10 set because we took damage before our action. If Uravity can't take Snipe out this turn and needs to get into position, Ushi can still help distract him. Though if Snipe is smart he'll go for the gutshot again to have the rollover damage go into our Hands and inhibit our Quirk use.

"Ya know we gotta name this, right?" You ask with a smile full of genuine enthusiasm as you both shift into position for a clear shot and wait for a pause in Snipe’s pot shots. Despite the pain and the prospect of failure, you still find enjoyment in being pushed to the limits. Not being lied to about the exam in some way also helps keep in good spirits. "It's our first combo move!"

>"...first?" She double takes, visibly surprised even through her helmet. "Uh, sure…"

It takes both of you only a couple seconds to fine tune your coordination and hone in on a good name, nod once more at each other, and set it all in motion.

Instead of merely peeking out of cover, this time both of you step out in tandem, fully aware of how easy of targets you are as you do… But that's the point. It will definitely get Snipe’s attention.

"Release!" Uravity says as soon as she steps into the open just to your 4 o'clock while tapping her fingers together. She then catches a large piece of debris before it hits her on its way down as most of the debris falls all around you, dramatically increasing visibility. "This will do, it's over anyways."

>"Over? Giving up already,... with time on the clock?" Snipe asks, stepping out from behind his own cover, just as Uravity described, first the step, then the slightly sluggish raising of his aberrant gun. "Hands behind your hea-"

But you don't wait for him to finish the motion, instead swinging about, grabbing your arm and immediately infusing it with mass, enlarging the limb to monstrous size and strength. The kind of strength needed to take hold of your conveniently placed teammate in one fluid motion.

"Shootin' Star!-" You quickly shout as you wind up, stride, and pitch Uravity. You feel the stress on your joints already as your arm cocks, the wood creaking and threatening to splinter from the shearing tension, forcing you to immediately return it to normal the instant Uravity is airborne as you follow through. Pa would be proud.

>"-SPECIAL!!!" Your teammate finishes the move name as she flies, holding her equally weightless piece of debris in front of her as she speeds towards the hero, dispersing all the remaining dust in the air with her speed, way too fast for him to get out of the way!
>>
...But not quickly enough to keep him from finishing raising his gun. Now that it's more than clear you aren't giving up, he does not stay his hand and fires three shots before Uravity’s impact. The first shatters her ad hoc shield of concrete, seemingly without hurting her. The other two head straight at you, still standing in the open.

The first hits you in the chest again, knocking the air out of your lungs and reigniting the pain from the previous shot to now cover your entire torso in anguish. Unluckily, you don't get time to dwell on it or even whimper, as the second hits your left horn, rattling your skull and forcing your neck back violently. You see, and in some weird way feel or hear, nothing but white as you fall backwards. Only your puffy hair and vest cushion your fall as you slam on to the damp concrete, hitting your shoulder, head, and back while choking and heaving for air.

As much as you want to go help, you can only wait and watch, as your entire body feels like its seizing in one giant cramp. Sure, it's not lethal, but whoever made these things made sure they were incapacitating.

Even though you can't do much but flail on the concrete to try and peer towards the action while spitting the blood pooling again in your mouth, the sounds of both the hero and your teammate tumbling together after the impact help you make sense of what you see when you manage to find them. You momentarily focus on Snipe, splayed on the damp concrete, not unlike yourself, with Uravity atop him holding his gun and the cuffs as she finishes the capture. Your partner reaches forwards and locks the cuffs on his legs before quickly jumping off with a beet-red face.

>"URARAKA AND WALKER HAVE PASSED THE EXAM!" The speakers blare, confirming your trial is over.

"...yaaaaym." You bleat, feeling your body demands another brain nap as your vision starts to go dark. A demand that will be either granted or taken by force, it assures you.

>"Oh no…" You hear Uravity say, then the sound of her boots as she runs towards you. "...I guess I'll take you to Recovery Girl's office, you… you…"

You hear her sigh as she touches you, untethering you from the planet and slinging you over her shoulders in what feels like a quick fireman's carry. Or she slung you like a hay bale, hard to tell from the hay's position.

>"What is it that you were saying, Friend?" Tin asks as you feel it wiggling in its pouch. You sort of giggle at the tickling, but it sounds more like a gurgle.

>"Oh! Hi Mr. Tin!" Your teammate greets the robot once more. "...I'm not sure."

Hmm, so Ushi got ganked in the early exam and now got unconcious in the final exam? Does that mean she fails like Sero failed when Midnight knocked him down with her sleeping gas?

Also all this results don't bode well for the camp trip. And the attack.
>>
>>4512683
I’d say that Ushi’s greatest strength is as a force multiplier. She had uncooperative teammates in the forest exam, and is underground here.

The camp attack lets Ushi leverage her strengths. It’s outdoors and she’s surrounded by teammates.

I mean, except for like, compress, Shigaraki, and Kurogiri (two of which don’t engage directly), I’m pretty sure a giant Tin, Kirishima, or Tetsutetsu could thrash the whole invading force.

I’d hazard that most of her present classmates and teachers at camp would benefit wildly from being recruited into Ushi’s Titan army.

How do you guys plan on rolling a pair on a 1d10 face+charm roll? I'm doubtful you can but intrigued that you may.
>>
>>4512599
Wait, hold up, how did Snipe deal so much damage? Going by the last shot dealing four damage on a 3x set, we can assume that Snipe's revolvers have a +2 damage modifier, since damage is Width-1 plus modifiers. Taking out Guts and Hands at the same time is five damage, Face and Brains is six. So either Snipe's pistols do more damage and he was using his Quirk to reduce damage on earlier shots, or they do +2 damage and he used his Quirk to deal more damage this time, or he brought out the anti-materiel rifle. Actually, probably a combo of the last two, since damage for weapons is supposed to max out at +3. So Snipe decided to just massively increase the lethality of this attack, after seeing Ushi not go down to a gut shot. Christ, teach. Well, at least we impressed him with our durability, if he thought that was necessary?

I'm pretty sure what happened is that the first shot Mic accidentally did 1 fewer damage than he was supposed to.

Just call it a warning shot.

That's still not enough damage to have knocked out both Face and Brains. Either way, Snipe decided to ramp up the danger after seeing Ushi not drop. Snipe fucking rolls hardcore.

I would like to avoid having to roll any dice.... not that we can at the moment. Let's wait till we are feeling better since we always seem to have brain damage whenever we try to improve our relationship with Uraraka.
>>
It's clear we were nowhere near doing things optimally, but that's fine. I look forward to asking pros for advice on what we did and how to do better. I'm guessing it's mostly just going to be them telling us we are too straightforward and predictable. (read: we don't come up with enough needlessly-complicated, improbable, dramatic asspulls--on the spot.)

Our two quirks together were so versatile and powerful that I think it's unlikely we couldn't have come up with something where Snipe would have been very hard pressed to do anything meaningful to stop us. Our main problem was being unable to read the situation quickly to come up with a solid plan fast enough.

For that matter: I would be curious if mic thought any other write ins would have worked better REGARDLESS of Snipe's rolls.

We could have done a pretty bitchin' shotgun meteor swarm by having Uravity "de-grav" a fistful of gravel that we up-scale into boulders as we pitch them.

I mean... desu Uravity's pretty optional for that, it just makes our lives easier and the trajectories of what we pitch more direct since they won't curve floor-ward.

Sleep would be good, but you don't really need that. What you need to do is stop. No more thoughts. Just rest and put on your listening ears. You need to ask whoever is in charge if you can get the other ones removed and keep these forever.

>"It's just that… I don't know." Your apparent carrier sighs, "I don't want to hurt her."

>"You are carrying her to safety and medical attention in an appropriate manner. Unless she presents signs of cervical injuries or similar, you are doing the opposite, Friend." The voice from your belt replies, it sounds very companionable, something you would always want by your side. It's comforting to listen to, even in your current wet noodle-like state.

>"Not like that, Mr. Tin. Insulting her." The girl under you says. "She told us how her life was back in America and Jiro drove the point home with her text… It feels wrong. She makes me SO mad at times… but she's trying...at least some of the time, and just blowing up on her just feels like kicking a puppy."

>"I must warn you Friend, I wouldn't condone kicking Mistress." The comforting voice of your belt says.

>"I won’t Mr. Tin, I don't think it'd go well for me." She says with a small laugh but it is cut short. "I just… breath in and out and let the anger go. She may say something stupid… or accidentally offensive… sometimes just outright insults … but none of it really hurts, you know? No cuts or bruises. So I need to learn to let it flow into the water and be better, I guess."

>"Mistress is strong, she can be confronted without injuries." Your belt advises. "As you implied, words don't hurt."

>"No, I’d rather not. Just look at her, I may get nervous when she speaks to me, but she hasn't let me down when we've had to work together, not to even mention what she did for us all at USJ." The girl carrying you rambles. "She may be strong enough to put herself in danger and work through the pain, but I shouldn't try to make it worse on her because she hurt my feelings…"

There’s a short pause as the unseen soft voice doesn’t respond when the girl suddenly continues.

>“I've been pondering that a lot lately… Strong heroes, emerging bloody yet victorious! Sure, people love the determination to break a couple fingers and fight on… But that's gotta hurt real bad, right? It's gotta build up at some point. And Walker always seems to run out of steam after her fights… She's lucky to have you, Mr. Tin! At least she always has someone to get her back on her feet after she puts herself at risk."
>>
>"I don't think luck has anything to do with it. I owe her my current continued existence and I will take care of Mistress as long as I'm able to.” The childish voice from the pouch responds. "I would prefer Mistress to stay safe, but despite telling her this, she has reinforced that won't always happen. I can only help when Mistress needs me, in battle or as a tool."

>"Don't sell yourself short Mr. Tin. She is lucky to have you." Your hauler insists, and you can feel her shake her head against you. "No matter how strong they are, all people, even heroes, have limits. I know it's the school motto, and I really believe we can go beyond and rise higher! But sometimes they fall. They can give it their all and even win and still end up injured… maybe helpless… So they need someone to care-I mean… to look out for them and help them! That's why she's lucky to have you, Mr. Tin!"

This Walker girl does sound lucky… Yeah, you are.

>"I must ask then, Friend, if you say that you don’t want to cause harm with them and yet you say that they do not hurt you." The friendly belt asks. "Do words hurt or not?”

You can feel the girl under you stumble for a second before continuing her walk.

>"Walker's do… Mine too, sometimes." Your perch says, sighing once more. "Neither should, but she's already trying, so asking more of her would be pointless. So I'll try to do better myself."

>What do you do?

Your words… hurt? No… That ain’t right! Wait. It kinda is, but shouldn't... Yes, that's more like it. It shouldn't be that way.

"Hey, Ura-ara-ara… Just tell me m'kay? Ah wanna be paaaals..." You mumble, wrestling with the words for an overly long time and have to put some effort to keep your tongue from falling out of your mouth by the end.

>"...You were awake." Uravity says, then sighs. "You really shouldn't be."

"Oh? Did Ah screw up?...again?" You ask, slightly tilting your head in her weightless grasp, unable to do more. "Ah'm sorry if Ah did."

>"No, I don't think so." She tells you, sounding rather pensive. You still can’t see her face from this position. "I just think that you should just rest."

"Uhm… Yeah… Ah will…" You mutter, knowing it's only a matter of time before the adrenaline keeping you conscious is metabolized and you black out to wake up elsewhere. "Ah just wanna be a gooooood friend…"

>"...I will." Uravity reassures you after a brief pause. "But we can talk about this later, you know, when you can talk?"

"Ah caaaaan tatkkth..." You try to answer but this time fail to keep your tongue at bay, letting about a foot of the appendage drape itself over her shoulder.

>"Ew. Can you please… not?" Uravity whines.

"Thory." You quickly pull it back in, but decide to follow her counsel and keep your mouth shut.

>"Do take care and rest, Mistress. You need to get back to peak condition before your next routine beating." Tin comments, getting a chuckle from Uravity under you. The thrum of it along with her rhythmic boot steps as she walks slowly lulls you into unconsciousness.

>"Hey… We passed, right? We have an entire camping trip to start on the right foot!... Oh. She isn't all there again..." You hear your pink-clad friend say as you fade away.

You wake up… No idea how much later, to the familiar sound of the school nurse's voice, scolding someone.

>"-kid's poor back! Had you hit them any harder and I don't think my quirk would heal them fully!" You hear her scold, and when you open your eyes and focus, you can see her wave her syringe-cane at All Might. "I'll need them moved to the main infirmary at the school after I finish treatment so they can get some rest, since I need a bed open right now."

Looking a bit more in your surroundings, you can tell that Uravity didn't take you to the familiar U.A. infirmary, just a very similar looking setup. Perhaps within walking distance of the exam area or the parking lot where you all met up. It's smaller, the walls are made out of fabric and there's a surveillance station the size of a full wall to the opposite side of the beds, but between the presence of Recovery Girl and Deku's typical mangled form laying ass up on one of the beds, it might as well be the infirmary you know and frequent. All Might awkwardly standing there is new, as is that nasty sounding cough he's trying to cover with his hand, but you aren't exactly surprised to see him next to Deku and Bakugo after their fight. The latter of the two seemingly knocked out in his own bed. You optimistically consider that they might’ve got a good hit in before he wiped the floor with them!

"Howdy." You announce your presence to all the people in the room, feeling a lot better already. Which was still terriblly achy and your breathing ends in a hitch, which makes you speak softly for the first time in your life. But at least you feel like a person and not a slice of slimey ham left out of the fridge. "'s everyone else broken today too?"

"Well, I’m not sure about “broken” Young Walker, but it's not everyday that I get to taste defeat and be glad about it!" All Might tells you, throwing his head back and laughing as always, wiping some blood off his mouth. "The weights played their part, of course, but these Young men bested me fair and square! And landed some impressive blows too! There's no overstating how much power they will one day wield! HA HA HA!"

>"Deku..." Uravity dotes as she shuffles towards the dazed looking boy, letting go of you and leaving you drifting slowly across the room ...and spinning. You suddenly realize that you are, in fact, not in a bed of your own but merely afloat and parallel to the ground via Uravity’s quirk. The disorientation starts to kick in as your long hair starts to wrap around your face.

>"H-hey Uraraka! You look good!" The boy greets her, visibly alarmed by her presence and awkwardly shifting his position to lay flat on the bed. Even as you are busy trying to stabilize yourself, it's hard to not notice that there's not an inch of exposed skin on him that doesn't look battered, bruised or otherwise “cooked” in that usual way his limbs get. "-I MEAN! I heard the announcement that you won, but I expected Snipe to land at least a shot-NOT that I wanted you to get hurt!-But Snipe's main skill is his impeccable aim and that coupled with his quirk and kit allow for nigh perfect accuracy! To see you unharmed is… Well, that's AMAZING! Did you manage to disarm him before he could fire? I know-"

>"Deku?" Uravity interrupts his rambling, but to no avail. It's like slamming the brakes on a truck that's already slipping on ice.

"-Walker's quirk can pull off ludicrous speeds and that your quirks should synergize well together, as manipulation of gravity and mass are inherently related, even through supernatural means such as qui- Yeah?" Deku’s mouth finally catches up with his ears.

>"We ...didn't. She got-" Uravity starts to answer while motioning behind herself, but when Deku returns a confused look, she turns to look herself. She scans the room until she finds you drifting above, obscured by the support rods of the tent. "There you are. Release!"

Tapping her fingertips together, Uravity ends your flight, finally allowing your messy hair to fall where it belongs and you into All Might's cushioning arms...To be fair, his arms flexed aren't much softer than the concrete of the floor, but still.

"Thanks! Ah- Ah! It hurts." You tell the hero, first with a beaming, thankful smile, then wincing and convulsing while bringing a hand to your bruised chest. He immediately puts you down, doing so with such speed that you have no time to even brace yourself and tip over, falling across the bed in front of you. "...Oooowie."

"N-no problem Young Walker!" All Might exclaims stepping aside and... into a corner? If you didn't know any better you'd think he's only trying to keep his distance from you.

"Ya know what? Ah'm takin' mah gratitude back." You grumble as you pull yourself together and roll off the other bed occupant before having to deal with any misunderstandings for being over him. You are physically sore all over, but you passed the exam and had a very short yet helpful talk with Uraraka, so the last thing you need is to embarrass yourself and ruin your mood… The fact that everyone else is now simply staring is not helping though.

>"Fuck off hag…" Bakugo growls groggily, barely awake. "...I'm trying to sleep."

"'scuse me?" You blurt out, pausing your departure off the mattress. You've been called many hurtful things, but that was a new and baffling one.

>"...Walker?" He mutters as he brings a raw looking hand to his face, wincing as he rubs his eyes. If Deku looks like his quirk's overwhelming energy baked him, Bakugo's hands look literally broiled, the top layer of skin peeling off his palms.

The rest of him doesn't look much better. You know he went against All Might (and won!) but seeing the normally proud, angry boy looking like he got hit by a bus and is actively feeling the aftermath is a bit jarring. You aren't used to seeing anyone but Deku get that roughed up, even counting Shoto's run-in with Stain. Despite looking like he was dragged down main street by his horse, Bakugo still manages to go from looking out of it to pissed in the few seconds it takes you to drag your gaze back from his body back to his intense eyes.

"Uh. 'yuup. That's me." You say with a small awkward smile, unsure whether he noticed your body on his a moment earlier. Luckily, you don't need to worry about that for long.

>"Okay..." He says, gazing back into your eyes for a second and reaching towards you, placing his hand on your shoulder like he did following your after-school outing… "You look like shit again."

"...<Pal>, you look like you took a dive down a wood chipper yourself." You fire back, then shrug. "Can't really blame ya, Ah would expect anyone takin' on All Might to end up with a fracture or a dozen."

"I assure you Young Walker, I'm more than capable of holding back!" The Hero in question chips in from the corner.

>"No you aren't. I don't even know how the poor dears are conscious after what you did to their bodies." Recovery Girl states, in a tone that allowed no rebuttal. "I'm guessing hormones."

Both you and Bakugo simply stare as the Symbol of Peace tries and fails to come up with a reply to the school nurse for a couple seconds.

>"Went full power without my gauntlets." Bakugo recounts, going from looking annoyed to outright furious contemplation, bringing his hand to his face and tearing the burnt skin off with his teeth. "Hurt like hell, couldn’t even see straight and it still wasn't enough! All Might just crushed me against the pavement. I don't even know how I won that."

>"You managed to hold his attention!" Deku praises him from the other bed, with Uraraka now sitting next to him. "But you were out cold when we crossed the gate… How did you know we passed?"

>"You would still be crying if we had failed." Your accidental bedfellow points out with more than just a hint of malice and… No one even acts surprised.

"That rings true…" All Might comments, much to Deku's embarrassment.

>"You… Both of you look… Your fight must have been harrowing. To go hand to hand against All Might..." Uraraka adds, softly poking Deku in multiple places and causing him to wince every time.

>"And yours was easy?" Bakugo questions her, wincing as he stretches his neck.

>"Ours? Well, we had to hide and for-" Uraraka starts, trying to count something on her fingers before the ashen blond interrupts her.

>"I said yours." He sneers. "I can tell you hid. Walker looks like she charged head-first into the gunfire and you are barely dirty. What did you even do?"

"Actually, she was the one that took Snipe down and secured the win." You loudly click your tongue as you recall the events of… huh, earlier today. "And she came up with the plan. And she got shot at a lot too, she's just way better at blocking bullets with debris rather than her body. Betcha Snipe didn't see that comin'!"

Your teammate looks surprised at you, seemingly not expecting you to speak up for her, but her surprised expression quickly turns into a proud smile… Then into worry.

>"Oh no! We left Snipe cuffed on the floor!" She says, jumping up from the bed and turning to look back and forth between Recovery Girl and All Might.

>"Oh, don't worry dear, he got up and left after you did." The nurse nonchalantly answers, pointing at a specific screen on the wall, showing the parking lot from above. You can make out rubble strewn about but not a trace of the hero. "He probably didn't want to say anything after you landed on him and sat on his mask."

You don't even try to hide your amusement as you watch your teammate's face flash red at the memory. It's nice to not be part of an incident like that for once. Having been in similar situations far too many times, you know how Uraraka feels and why, but seeing Deku glance at her almost as red while covering his face puzzles you a bit.

"A man of few words and great wisdom." All Might announces while nodding, and you aren't quite sure how to feel about it, given the context.

>"So Walker was tenderized and roundface crushed the teach, my bad." Bakugo summarizes dismissively, practically growling in frustration. "Kinda expected the opposite."

He then rolls to sit on the edge of the bed, wincing and clearly making a conscious effort to not make any pained sounds as he turns his back on you before you can retort. Thus, you have no choice but scoot around the bed and sit next to him. The fact that you are helping him stay upright by pressing your right shoulder against him is merely incidental, and not an attempt to be friendly to someone you now see as a potential friend.

"Hey now, Ah pitched the winnin' strike!" You tell him as soon as you can see his face and is listening again.

>"So you aimed for that kind of landing?" Bakugo snipes, still trying to keep his grin from turning into a grimace.

"'Cut me some slack, Ah was shot twice!" You refute his would-be joke with a pout.

>"Uhm… Thrice, actually." Uraraka corrects you while motioning up, sitting on the other bed once again.

It takes your rattled brains a second to recall what she means, but as soon as you do your hand flies to your left horn, loosening the cover and taking it off. As soon as you feel something sticky on its tip, you feel like you got dunked in cold water. Holding your breath, you wordlessly scramble your thumb all over the wooden surface, not minding the public horn-touching this time.

"No, no, nononono…" You whimper, fearing the worst already. It happened once, why wouldn't it happen again!?

It doesn't evade you for long, finding a small vertical crack that's already filled with crystalized sap. Only then you start breathing again, with a heavy sigh that ends in a rattling noise as your heart rate starts going back to something resembling normal.

>"That just looks like a regular injury dear, no need to worry too much. It should heal quickly with or without treatment. Bark breaking and regrowing happens all the time, that's what it is for." Recovery Girl comforts you, walking closer and peering at your newly injured horn for a second, then besides you at the boy unintentionally leaning on your shoulder. "And you, you shouldn't even be awake. In fact, all three of you should be treated and sent to rest at the infirmary back in the main building with Todoroki and Yaoyorozu!"

>"Um, about that… Can I… Stay here and watch?" Deku asks, trying to sit on the edge of his bed as well while eyeing the multi-monitor display. With Uraraka's help, it doesn't seem to hurt him nearly as much as it did Bakugo. "Thank you."

>"You just put yourself through extreme stress and trauma, you can decline treatment but you still should give your poor body a chance to recover and rest." The school nurse recites to him, softly shaking her head.

>"Well… Yeah, but I'm okay!" Deku blatantly lies, making a terrible attempt at flexing, then seemingly realizes that no one is buying that. "...It's just that there aren't many chances to watch our classmates face off against pros…"

He makes a good point. This kind of high level stress test would only be a couple times per year at mo-

>"...I won't stop you, but you better not overdo it and hurt yourself." Recovery Girl acquiesces, then dismisses his point anyway. "Though you'll have more chances for that than you think."

-oh fuck. You will really need to be better prepared for the next time. You can’t be dragged out of the ring by your teammate or Tin every time you want to try going up against the big leagues and call yourself a “pro”. And thats with a handicap! Hell, there might not be a teammate next time...

>"Thank you very much!" The green haired boy says with an eager smile and more energy than you believe anyone beaten that badly should have, but his enthusiasm starts faltering when he sees everyone else looking at him. "Observing these things is kind of my hobby…"

>"We know." Uraraka reassures him with a soft giggle and small pat on the back. Even you can tell there's no mockery in it, despite Deku’s flinching.

>"I'm staying too." Bakugo states with a toothy smirk, despite the fact that he would fall over if you were to move from his side. "I'm just as fine."

Even in the silliest of made up contests, he's not about to let Deku beat him.

>"Same goes for you, then. Lay down and rest if you start feeling lightheaded, the robotic stretcher should be able to take you back to the school if you do. Do not fight your body's attempts to heal itself, okay?" Recovery Girl tells him, but it's clear that her words are falling on deaf ears.

"You kids really are a tenacious bunch!" All Might declares with his signature laughter.

>"Now, with the boys out of the way, let's have a look at those bullet impacts, shall we?" Recovery Girl suddenly says, turning to address you directly and pointing at your suit. "Come on start taking that off."

"WELL! I HAVE A TEST TO GRADE!" All Might shouts before you can answer, marching, more like scuttling, straight to the tent's entrance. "I'LL LEAVE YOU ALL TO YOUR OWN DEVICES!"

"H-Here?... Now?" You ask, your gaze drifts from the gal that has already seen more while changing in the locker room, to the boys you'd rather not show anything to and-

Only a dust outline remains of where All Might once stood in the tent. Not even a minor sonic boom this time. Your befuddlement only increases as you hear Recovery Girl laugh, turning your head to see her covering her mouth.

>"That'll teach him to encourage self-destructive behaviors." She says, walking towards a small wheeled cabinet in the corner and taking something out, then letting it fall flat on the floor. It immediately unfolds and expands into what looks like a portable dressing room divider. "If you would?"

"Right… Sure." You say, releasing the pauldron and half-cape and taking off your jacket, throwing them on the bed. The fact that you can stand up without any help while Bakugo just sprawls over the bed and your accessories the moment you stop supporting him (with a drawn out, yet garbled "fuuuck") speaks volumes of how much worse the boys had it… and you got shot.

Once inside the tiny enclosure with the nurse, you close the curtain and start the process of opening your costume by the reinforced zipper on the back.

>"YOU KNOW, I DON'T THINK WE EVER GIVE TSUYU'S AGILITY ENOUGH CREDIT!" You hear Deku remark overly loud on the other side of the fabric, probably looking at the monitors.

"W-wait!" You say, bouncing on your tippy-toes and trying to look over the curtain to no avail. You are tall, but not that tall...yet. Who knows? Your Momma is plenty big. "Y'all watchin' the rest already?"

>"IT'S ALRIGHT, Y-YOU JUST TAKE YOUR TIME IN T-THERE!" The green haired boy cries, continuing his almost-shrieking.

>"Try to focus dear, or this will take longer than needed." Recovery Girl warns you, getting you to sigh and nod.

You begin slowly peeling away the top, revealing practically everything north of your waist to the old lady and feeling a spike of pain that makes you suck air between your teeth at the sudden lost support as your well-fitted costume falls away… audibly.

>"Now… How did you even fit those in there?" She asks looking up at you, making you almost feel like covering yourself again.

>"YEAH, SHE'S REALLY… BENDY… TSUYU-I-MEAN!" Uraraka follows upon Deku’s commentary just as loudly, despite clearly not having much to say.
>>
>"DID YOU GET YOUR EARDRUMS BLASTED OR SOMETHING? I'm trying to watch this shit." Bakugo roars, ending in a wheezy cough that in no way makes his outburst sound less ferocious.

The examination is a fairly short process, luckily for you. You'd rather keep any and all poking to the minimum, even from health professionals. Your options are also straight forward.

>"Well, it looks surprisingly alright, all things considered. The surrounding tissue doesn't look too damaged and the bleeding seems to have already stopped. Your body should be able to recover fully on it's own in about two weeks at most, if you do as your classmates and refuse treatment and rest." She says, clearly disapproving of the boys' choice. "If you do, you should at least apply some topic analgesics, because that's not going to stop hurting… But really, dear, you should just get treated. I'll just make sure to write this down on your file so your doctor knows, just in case."

>What do you do?

As much as I like to get Ushi to tip top HP asap, really what she needs to do to accomplish her big goals is to start grinding out social exp. Gotta have that charm and glibness if she wants to be a leader and public champion.

Not that our lingering face damage will make that easy. Guess we’ve got to bite the bullet eventually.

And maybe now RG will get on our case about actually finding a doctor?

Shock damage heals fast. We'll be back to full by tomorrow, assuming we're allowed to get a good night's sleep. No need to worry about carrying around this damage for weeks.

>>4521254

Ah, yeah, you're right. I was misremembering a vote way back when, because Charm is the social stat in other ORE games. Together with us using that with almost all our Face roles (because we need to be Charming much more commonly than Conniving, so far), I got that mixed up as us getting another point of Face. My mistake, I apologize for a confusion.
>>

I haven't voted for anything yet, but can Recovery Girl give us a partial fix up? I believe shes mentioned it before. If so it might be nice to choose 2 of our injuries, namely our head based ones, to fix up and still stick around to watch the other exams.

The one thing I can think of is that this is the on the “selfish” (by degrees) side of the potential outcomes where you are adding to RGs work load because she will be having to take in and address the late comers of other exams as well as getting Ushi’s completed. Unless I have interpreted the timing of the scene wrong.

Well, the remaining Shock damage will heal by tomorrow, anyway. We don't have to worry about lasting damage, whether we get healed by Reovery Girl or not. Knowing now that there's nothing really damaged, you start twisting and leaning your head part way through Recovery Girl’s explanation, trying again to look outside at the video feed of the exams. Your classmates are giving everything they've got, going toe to toe with professional heroes to show how far they've come and what they can do now. Having a mini watch party in Deku, Uraraka, and Bakugo to converse with would be just a bonus.

After she’s done, you glance between the nurse and back their way, to the screens, still uncertain whether to defy her recommendation like the boys. That’s when you hear the commentary of battle come from the other side of the divider. With it, a grunt of acknowledgement by Bakugo while gasps of one sort or another and chatter from Uraraka and Deku... It'd be foolish and straight up disgraceful to not observe…

"Ah appreciate all the help, ah really do ma’am… but Ah'll take the cream, can't pass out now. Ah promise, <cross my heart>, ah’ll be seeing a doctor soon and Ah’ll check in with them." You tell the nurse, who sighs before handing you a tube that looks just like toothpaste without the colorful branding, and a bunch of medical mumbo jumbo instead of a flavor.

>"This should keep it from hurting too much while your body takes care of the bruise." She tells you, shaking her head in clear disapproval, her wrinkly lips in an obvious frown that conjures guilt. "I very much hope you don't plan on doing anything taxing for the rest of the week… You need to take care of yourself in this line of work, dear."

The image of Spring Tiger wiping the mat with your face flashes in your mind, and your regret flares further, but you don't back down.

"Ah'll take care, thank you." You tell her, trying to hide your wincing as you bow. It’s difficult enough with a lack of support but your injury makes it doubly so. It takes you a couple minutes more to get out from behind the curtain, as you have a lot of area to cover with the cream… and it was cold. So you take a moment after zipping up to join the others at the observation center.

Recovery Girl sits in the middle of the group in an office chair managing the recording station, with Deku and Uraraka to her left and Bakugo, clearly holding on to the chair to stay upright, to the nurse’s right.

>"That was… a thing… And it worked, I guess." Uraraka squirms, peering at the main monitor along with everyone else and looking a bit queasy.

"<Dag'nabbit!> Am Ah too late? Did Ah miss sumthin' good?" You ask as you go stand next to the blond boy, the next best spot available and look across the many screens. They were talking about Froppy's abilities a bit ago, but now that you can scan the video feeds, you see Tsukuyomi and her being held in what looks like a wall of flesh, her tongue poking out of her slobbering mouth. She looks exhausted. "...<What the hell>?"

>"Asui and Tokoyami have passed the exam!" Recovery Girl announces, pushing a button next to a small microphone on the console in front of her, then lets go of the button. You have to wonder how much distortion can a speaker system have if she's been the announcer the whole time. "That girl's clear head and disposition are certainly an asset."

"No, really, can anyone tell me what happened?" You urge your fellow audience, watching the prison melt away as Ectoplasm goes to check on your classmates. Froppy gives the teacher, their opponent, a thumbs up while wiping her mouth with her sleeve and Tsukuyomi somberly nods.

>"It was a clever combination of their abilities! Both Frog and Dark Shadow contributing!" Deku excitedly claims, not really telling you much. It's hard to show your visible dissatisfaction with it as he outright refuses to look in your direction. "Even after being immobilized by Ectoplasm's massive partial clone, they still eked out a victory!"

>"I liked more the combination move where they threw each other to change elevation!" Uraraka comments, sounding like she's forcing herself to sound happy before quickly changing the subject. "Our move was similar, but cleaner and faster, I'm sure."

>"The frog puked out the cuffs and the shadow put them on the teacher's peg leg when he got distracted." Bakugo summarises, not looking overly impressed. "Which is bullshit by the way! Ectoplasm can just slide the cuff off his leg. Or take the damn thing off."

>"Watch your mouth dear, you don't want to grow up to be a PR disaster." Recovery Girl tells him, briefly raising her syringe cane and pointing at him. She finishes her flourish with a quick glance in your direction, making it clear she's one cussword away from whacking someone with it… and that she can speak English. "And the cuffs work that way for fairness' sake. Since no one is trying to kill anyone, you need a way to make it clear they are out and the fight is over. It's not much different than capture tape, just somewhat more realistic and harder to use."

>"It's still taking advantage of the test." Bakugo asserts with his signature scowl. "It's not showing how they learned to use all their resources or some crap, it's just exploitin-"

Thuk sounds the cane against his head, leaving it unclear which object was the harder of the two. Bakugo grimaces and looks at the nurse with murder in his eyes, but she's clearly unfazed, making him huff and drop the issue. Even he realizes that's a fight he can't ever win.

"Speaking of capture tape, Invisible Girl kinda did the same thing when she snuck up on me in the forest! Why is keepin' that sorta stuff inside you even a thing?" You wonder aloud before slowly turning your head to the left to glare at the boys in the room. "Ya know, back in the forest. That forest you two abandoned me in? Ah haven't forgotten that."

The two boys share a look with each other, the first you’ve seen of solidarity between the two instead of contention. Solidarity in what, you aren’t quite sure, but all of you are quickly distracted again by the exams in progress next to you. With all exams being simultaneous, you don't have much more time to dwell on your grudge, on the recent performance of your classmates or their potential circumvention of the spirit of the exam. Instead, you take a gander at the array of screens again and pick out the first one that catches your eye.

"...What are they doing?!" You wonder, pointing at that particular screen. Recovery Girl commands the system to pull the feed to the main monitor for you all to view. "Pinky and Chargebolt, Ah mean. They can't just be runnin' 'round like headless chickens, right?"

From it's high perch, the feed shows you the entire pseudo-industrial sector and construction yard as well as the massive crane that the principal is using to try and flatten your friends, with some persistent wild swings that seem to be caused by either erratic controls or wanton destruction.

>"Principal Nezu's crane is too slow to hit them, so they just need to find a good route and take it down, right? Either acid or electricity could disable it! That sidestreet would-" Uraraka points out, tracing a route in the air over the screen with her finger, but stops when Pinky and Chargebolt scamper past it. The principal collapses the sidestreet before continuing the chase. "...Nevermind, maybe they are up to something else instead of fighting?"

"Oh! The principal is tryin' to cut them off from the exit!" You blurt out as soon as you figure it out. "The place's huge though, so they can still finish this…They’re gonna lap around the crane Ah guess, split up, and make it out! If Chargebolt can keep the principal busy, Pinky can easily go through any-'!"

...And they just doubled back, completely ruining the chance to divide the principal’s attention. It's not that either.

"...Ah've no idea." You admit.

>"Watching intelligence based villains always keep you on the edge of your seat!" Deku comments, but his excitement quickly gives way to familiar nervousness as he bites the tips of his gloved fingers. "But I'm worried about Kaminari and Ashido… I'm not sure they know what they are doing, and the principal isn't disabling them, even though he's been able to do so at least four times since we started watching."

>"That's Nezu. As an animal with a quirk, he was… toyed with… by humans in all sorts of ways before being allowed his freedom." Recovery Girl carefully picks her words. "He tends to get carried away and take it out on his opponents."

"That's… terrible." You comment, uneasy. "All of it."

>"Of course they don't know what they are doing!" Bakugo exclaims, dragging his free hand down his face. "Racoon eyes has already made hand and footholds on walls during the training race, they are just panicking and running away."

"As much as Ah hate to agree, Ah think yer right. Chargebolt's doin' that thing where he's tryin' a bit of everythin' without commitin' too." You add. "Ah'm… Not sure they'll do very well."

>"The match-ups were picked to challenge your weaknesses and blindspots and force you to overcome them. As sad as it might be, not everyone can do it on their first try." Recovery Girl says, sighing and bringing up the observation controls once more. "Let's just see how the rest of your classmates are doing."

...Considering the Principal's quirk is being super smart, you are pretty sure the entire institution just called your friends morons in a particularly roundabout yet cruel way.

The main monitor changes feeds to show one of your close friends, Earphone Jack, standing toe to toe against… nothing. At least nothing near her, but the fact that she's covering her ears and the unnatural shaking and waving of the tall grass in front of her hint to an unseen struggle.

>"And this, dearies, is the first reason why the entire setup is muted." Recovery Girl tells you, changing the feed to another camera, showing now your english teacher making entire trees shake and splinter with nothing but presumably his voice.

>"Oh, this match-up is clear! Present Mic can simply overpower most sound based quirks like theirs!" Deku points out, leaving his worry behind. It also makes you suddenly aware of the fact that while you knew Earphone Jack’s, you don't know what Anima's quirk actually is or does, only that it makes you uneasy. "...Is he planning to stand there and yell at them until they time out? Effective, but boring."

Looking down at the digital clock near Recovery Girl, you can see that indeed, there's not much time left for your friends to pass their exam.

At first you aren't sure who you should feel sorry for more, Anima for how scared and tearful he looks or Earphone Jack, who has him as her teammate. The answer turns out to be neither as Earphone Jack perplexingly stabs a rock with one of her jacks, blowing it to smithereens, and turns to her teammate. You can't hear what she says, but seeing her address Anima with such a confident expression despite her bleeding ears is inspiring, and the sobbing Anima seems to agree, jumping into action. He kneels in front of the smashed rock and forms a cone with his hands, as if to shout at the stone shards.

"So… What's Anima's quirk anyways?" You ask before you forget to do so for another month or two.

>"Seriously? He controls animals with his voice!" Deku cheerfully tells you, causing you to infer something… and you immediately hope you are incorrect..

"Oh." You let out, making an effort to not think about it. Luckily, being hit in the head is a great boost to your not-thinking abilities.

>"WHOAAAA-OHH-GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" A jarring yet amazingly loud shriek is heard. It doesn't pass through the speaker system, your english teacher's panicked screaming is simply emanating that loudly from the woods.

“And there’s the second.” Recovery Girl sighs again.

>"Is that Present Mic?" Uraraka asks the obvious question as Recovery Girl switches the video feed back to him, showing the professional hero on the ground, covered in bugs of all sorts and foaming at the mouth.

>"Enough bugs to cover a man… That would take out most people." Deku says, looking taken aback by the crawly blanket. "Still… Really gross, Koda. But at least it confirms that he does affect all kinds of animals."

>"JIRO AND KODA HAVE PASSED THE EXAM!" Recovery Girl announces, examining the camera feed before leaning back in her chair. "They didn't even bite him or anything. Pathetic! At least he doesn't need treatment."

"Ah don't even wanna know what he'd do if he found a tarantula in his hat!" You joke with a hearty chuckle. A single one, as laughing hurts.

>"See? That's a clever victory, no cheating there. They exploited his weaknesses, and left the loser spazzing on the floor, as they should." Bakugo says with an approving nod.

>"...So, what do you do when there's a tarantula in your hat?" Uraraka asks you.

"You give it a name, make a terrarium for it and make’m friends, then discover the males barely live a year and be alone again, just like before- but now with a tiny tomb in yer flower patch." You tell her, holding a hand over your chest.

>"...Is there a way to skip the depressing childhood stories with you?" Uraraka asks after a brief, dumbfounded pause.

"...stop asking?" You tell her, shrugging.

>"Now, let's see if anyone else is close to finishing…" Recovery Girl says, fiddling with the controls and showing you Red Riot and Sugarman along with Cementoss in a tussle.

You all watch attentively for a couple seconds, then sigh or groan.

>"...I don't think they are going anywhere." Uraraka voices everyone's thoughts.

>"Their uh… fighting spirit… is really amazing, and not giving up is great, but I think you are right Uraraka." Deku admits, clearly trying to be polite. "If they keep doing nothing but keep punching walls they will only run out of time. Maybe we should look at someone else's progress?"

>"Certainly. Poor boys though, it can be hard to figure out when to try something new and when to double down on your strengths." Recovery Girl comments shaking her head and changing to a new feed.

"It's… disappointin’." You say, turning to the boy right next to you. "Ah thought you and Red Riot prepared for the exams together, why is he bein' so… hardheaded, Ah guess?"

>"I tutored him, I didn't train him." He grumbles, his energy seemingly wavering. "And studying for a test doesn't make you smarter."

"Huh." You let out, thinking about what he and Recovery Girl said. Since you don't think either of the boys previously on screen as dumb, you can only assume they incorrectly, in a major way, expected Cementoss to run out of walls before they ran out of stamina or time. The walls fell with ease under their strikes, but another new one and a bit of a second behind it were always ready to replace it before the original finished crumbling down. "At least Pinky and Chargebolt were on the move. They’re just ain't willing to do the math. Every wall they’ve crashed through, there's more to work through than before."

The main screen shifts focus onto Tentacole, Power Loader… and what looks to be Ingenium's rear and legs kicking in the air. As if he was riding an invisible upside-down bicycle, his torso seemingly buried. The arena around them is a holey mess with barely an inch of solid ground to stand on, now doubt thanks to Power Loader and his suit, currently bursting through a new hole and giving chase to Tentacole. The latter’s multiple sets of ears seem to be just enough to let him avoid the hero's underground charges.

>"He's running out of ground." Bakugo shakes his head, and the image on the screen seems to agree. "One wrong step and it's going to end up like Iida."

"Ingenium." You correct him, thinking about what that name must mean to him. "Names are important, especially his."

>"Whatever." He dismisses your concern. "He's screwed to-"

Thuk the cane strikes again, and you could swear Bakugo's teeth are sparking inside his mouth by the way he clenches his jaw despite how dazed his eyes appear.

>"He can still make it out, he just needs to uh, leave, the ground..." Deku adds, apparently realizing what he was suggesting while he was saying it.

>"Let's see what they do, okay dearies?" Recovery Girl intervenes, then flips a switch on the console. "And hear too, now that Yamada is down for the count."

>"Give it up already, you are only going to trip and break your ankle!" Power Loader taunts Tentacole before diving back into the earth and bursting out again, closer to your classmate. "You took too long, now there's no way to go!"

>"Up!" Tentacole replies, continuing his mad dash between the holes, the ground giving way mere moments after he takes his next step. As much as you want to cheer for your classmates, Power Loader isn't wrong and seems to be in complete control of the situation.

>"You can't fly, kid! You'd've done it already if you could!" The hero taunts him once more, diving into the hole and bursting out in front of Tentacole, forcing him to pivot away from his path to the exit.

>"Jump." Comes Tentacole's simple answer as he runs around his downed teammate, his confidence unwavering.

>"There's not a single patch of dirt around compact enough to support your weight let alone let you jump!" The teacher says, but you can tell he's not as sure anymore.

>"Oh! Of course!" Deku says, but stops there. "It's his only shot though..."

>"There is one!" The masked student says, turning to run straight at his imprisoned teammate, now between him and the exit. "IIDA, STANDING LONG JUMP!"

"Ingenium." You instinctively correct him as you watch too enthralled by the action to dwell on how silly that was.

Ingenium stops his air cycling and brings feet together as he compreses his legs, as if to do the activity mentioned by Tentacole, who then jumps off the unstable ground and onto his teammate's boots.

>"NOW!" Tentacole yells as he jumps, kicking off at the same time his teammate executes a highly inverted knee press with a short burst of blue flames and a muffled cry.

"Woo!-oof" You cheer and bounce in place once before your body reminds you of your state, having just seen the tallest boy in the class take to the air, opening his multiple arms in an attempt to glide through the gate. It works well enough, but not an inch more, as he crashlands barely on the other side of the threshold. "Smart as an octopus, Ah tell ya… Wonder how he figured that out though."

>"IIDA AND SHOJI HAVE PASSED THE EXAM!" Recovery Girl announces, her smile getting just a little bit brighter at seeing the students succeed.

>"Well done! Now how did you get around the bad footing I made for you?" Power Loader asks knowingly as he digs out Ingenium, who takes off his helmet and takes a deep breath.

>"I had time to think while running. If Iida's struggles couldn't free him, it meant that you had compacted that area enough to hold him." Tentacole explains, sitting by the gate and catching his breath and trying to wipe the dirt off his mask without taking it off.

>"They didn't give up and worked out a strategy to counter their villain's home field advantage!" Deku cheers too, looking about at the others... aside from you again.

>"They look tired, but not in need of any medical attention. Power Loader should direct them to the main infirmary anyway though." Recovery Girl examines the feed before cutting the audio. "Which one now?"

You glance at the slightly smaller screens, looking for someone that you haven't watched befo-

>"H-HELP! PLEASE!" Koda says as he bursts into the tent, surprising everyone with a voice that wasn’t often heard, even when called upon in class. Despite the blood dripping off her ears, Kyoka in his arms looks quite pleased with her situation. Koda, on the other hand, starts stuttering when he sees everyone in the room staring at him. "Uh… Please, show me where I can place her… she's bleeding..."

You had already turned around and walked up to one of the now unoccupied beds before even thinking about it, checking it wasn’t dirty while patting a few creases away.

"H-here!" You tell him, blinking really hard for a second after doing so. There's nothing odd in rushing to help a friend, right?

Recovery Girl quickly changes the feed to another team, then hops off her chair, walking over to Kyoka with her cane in hand.

>"I'm fine!" Kyoka yells, giving her a thumbs up. "I mean, I lost my balance, but I just need to rest from all of Present Mic's yelling!"

>"You aren't going to reject treatment too, are you dear?" The school nurse pleads.

>"Oh no, hit me up doc!" Kyoka quickly answers, sitting on the bed and getting a kiss on the forehead from the Youthful Heroine. She looks a bit more tired, but nothing like the wasteful exhaustion that you've felt every time you've needed treatment. "Thanks. Uh, I kinda expected it to be a knockout."

>"My quirk only accelerates and boosts your own healing, dear." Recovery Girl explains, wagging a finger. "Healing several fractures and bruises can exhaust your body's resources, but your body should be able to handle stitching together some busted eardrums without much trouble… Some hunger as well, maybe. Let me see where I left the candy."

She looks around and opens a cupboard, pulling out a bowl of familiar colorful candy.

>"Come on, have one dear." She says, shaking the bowl and getting Kyoka to grab a few.

"Oh! Can Ah have some!" You ask, reaching for the bowl, but getting your hand smacked by her cane.

>"These are for good patients only." Recovery Girl tells you, storing the bowl back in the cupboard.

There's little you can do but scour through your belt and pull out and resize the Wonderbread within to have something to munch on. It's the worst a bread can be, but it lasts longer than any baked good should. No one will see you with the stuff again if you can help it.

"<Rude.>" You mumble as you return to your spot next to Bakugo while opening the bag, well aware that she can understand it.

>"Thanks for carrying me big guy." Kyoka thanks Koda and stands up, walking up to the screens alongside you. "Are we peeping on the rest of the class? ...Did you watch us?"

Koda doesn't say anything, but his nervousness is evident, even on his unusual features.

>"Yep!" Uraraka answers. "You two, Iida and Shoji, Kirishima and Sato, Kaminari and Ashido…"

>"We all passed then?" She asks, clearing the dry blood off her ear with her pinky. "Or are some still going? How are they doing?"

Most of you look at each other, not sure of what to say without looking like you distrust your friends.

"A good chunk of the class are failing." Bakugo briefs her, rubbing his eyes, pulling on his eyelids, and bouncing against your shoulder. It's not the first time you've noticed him do that, but you still don't pay it any mind, he's running on fumes after all. "Mostly hitting walls with their heads and getting nowhere."

>"And those two?" Kyoka asks once more, nodding at the main monitor on the recording station.

It takes you a second to see which two she means, since only Can't Stop Twinkling is visible. Then you remember that his teammate is Invisible Girl and spot her signature gloves next to him.

...Clinging on to a railing for dear life, as No. 13's Black Hole seems to be sucking them in with enough force to keep Can't Stop Twinkling completely parallel to the floor. He futilely fires a pair of lasers out of his knee pads at No. 13, who simply annihilates it as her quirk's name implies.

"Doomed." You proclaim, noticing that they aren't just cornered and without any vector of attack that could reach No. 13, but also not even close to the exit gate. Bakugo doesn't react, but Uraraka nods in agreement, while Deku seems to hesitate to call the loss so early.

>"Don't discredit them so quickly, let me turn on the audio and we’ll see." Recovery Girl says as she returns to her station. "At least if they are to be eliminated, it should be quickly and not go to time."

>"Ah~ Y-You can't just absorb all my sparkling lasers! Y-you will reach your limit before that!" Can't Stop Twinkling cries with a glittering tear running down his cheek, which falls towards No. 13, and is annihilated by the force exerted by the singular open finger-cover.

>"No, I don't think so. I'm pretty sure I can keep doing this far longer than either of you can hold on." No. 13 tells him sounding bored while slowly approaching. "I hate fighting, even if this isn't much of one, so let's try to end this quickly, okay?"

>"Never!" Can't Stop Twinkling defiantly cries, refusing to let go of the railing, even as his cape is torn off his costume and annihilated. "You won't get ME!"

>"Don't be silly, nothing escapes a black hole." No. 13 says, almost pleading for the exercise to end and to be able to leave.

>"What about starlight?~" Can't Stop Twinkling sobs, tears streaming down his cheeks.

"Is he crying?" You ask, dumbfounded.

>"Maybe… Maybe the wind caused by No. 13's quirk is affecting his eyes?" Deku offers, but doesn't seem sure himself. Nor take into account Can't Stop Twinkling’s gaudy headgear.

>"It looks stressful, he should be allowed to cry." Uraraka points out, taking off her helmet and looking at it. “It was his cape… He really liked his cape.”

>"What about starlight? Not eve- Uh?" No. 13 responds, looking at the now closed finger cover in confusion.

>"That wasn't No. 13." Kyoka chimes in, smirking.

No. 13 barely has time to be puzzled before being hit by Can't Stop Twinkling's laser, being blasted several yards back like a ragdoll. You don't worry about the hero though, that suit looks puffy enough to bounce off an oncoming train.

>"I meant seeing stars~!" Can't Stop Twinkling cries out, reaching inside his chestplate and pulling out the cuffs and throwing them at the downed hero. "Time for the grand finale, mon amie~!"

Instead of bouncing against No. 13's prone form, the cuffs stop midair, then attach themselves to one of the hero's wrists.

>"FUCK YEAH! TAKE THAT, BLACK HOLES!" Invisible Girl's voice says… sounding from somewhere next to No. 13 as they fall back in surprise instead of where her gloves suggest. "WHO'S THE MASTER OF LIGHT NOW!? WOOOOOOO!!"

>"A most ...extravagant jubilation, but well deserved~!" Can't Stop Twinkling says with a small, sophisticated laugh as he walks back to the railing. He tugs on the gloves, then takes a couple of pins out of them and tosses the empty articles back towards where Invisible Girl's voice was heard.
>>
>"AOYAMA AND HAGAKURE HAVE PASSED THE EXAM!" Recovery Girl announces, then turns to look at you. "What did I tell you dear?"

>"I didn't expect that, but I guess that's why it worked." Deku remarks with a smile.

"Uh-huh." You sort of answer, focused on the screen instead of her. Not exactly on the screen itself but on Can't Stop Twinkling, who is facing the camera and bowing. "...How does he know which camera we’re watchin'? ...Or that we are watchin'?"

>"It's Aoyama, he does that in front of every camera." Kyoka tells you with a shrug.

You quickly switch your focus to a different side monitor, showing the scene from another angle... and do a double take as Can't Stop Twinkling is there to wink back at you, prompting you to take a surprised third take, seeing him just helping No. 13 up now.

"Let's… Can we check on someone else now?" You urge the school nurse.

>"There's not many teams left, Kirishima and Sato haven't gained more than a meter of ground, Ashido and Kaminari… keep running in Nezu's maze…" Recovery Girl says, shifting the feed as she speaks, briefly showing the teams as she names them before settling on the one transmission you hadn't seen yet. "Those four are fighting on, not giving up, but…"

>"They too can figure it out before their time runs out, right?" Deku asks her with a hopeful tone.

>"They only have minutes left to do it, but I guess they could. They have the will, they just need to find a way." The nurse says, looking at the screen and the panicking student it shows. "Not so sure about him though."

>"I'M FUCKED, I'M SO SO FUCKED!" Grape Juice sobs as he runs through the fake open mine that seems to be his team's arena, although to you it looks more like Big Thunder Mountain. "WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO HERE!? THIS IS CRA-A-AZY!!!!"

>"He was so excited about going to the training camp…" Deku says, sighing. "Why does he look like he's given up?"

"Because it's <hope-less>~" You answer in a singsong, caring little about the quarry running away and more on the hero playing the part of the villain during this exam. "He's up against Midnight! He, especially him, doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell!"

>"That's… not very nice." Deku says, finally looking at you and as if you had sprouted a third horn. "Midnight is one of the hardest matchups anyone can have, up there with Cementoss, Mic, and All Might himself! Mineta might not make it to the camp!"

"Huh… Ah hadn't even thought about that…" You muse, tapping your chin and consider the idea of visiting an open sky bath without having to worry about him peeping on you. A pleasant smile blooms across your face. "She already controls the gate, so she only needs to keep him away for a few more minutes!"
>>
>"That's not-" Deku tries to advocate for the fiend, but the gals are having none of that.

"You know that's harder than it looks." Kyoka sneers at the image of the screeching boy on the screen. "But we can hope, right?"

>"It won't even be that bad… It's Midnight, he'll probably like it…" Uraraka adds, timidly tapping the tips of her index fingers together, trying too hard to rationalize the natural desire to see him fail this one time.

You can't see him succeed, really. Hell, you barely even look at him, your attention centered on the feed of the woman sitting in front of the gate, softly stroking Cellophane's hair while he lays helpless on her lap like a fat cat, his helmet discarded next to her.

"She even wears the weights like they were part of her costume!~" You point out, admiring her poise.

There's not a doubt to be had about what was going on in their exam. Midnight's presence dominates the area, her pleasant demeanor driving the point home that these boys are her playthings and she's above it all. If Grape Juice was still running, it was because she allowed it, and he would stop when she wanted him to.

Such is her presence and charisma, that even before taking her quirk into consideration she's a force to be reckoned with.

>"Grape Juice…" She calls for the runaway, pouting. Bigger, more dangerous villains have fallen prey to her charms before, what chance does he have? "The gate's this way…"

>"CURSE YOU, SERO!! I WON'T FORGET THIS!!!!" Grape Juice cries as he keeps running, blood somehow flowing down his mask. "It should be me on her lap…"

>"Is he injured?" Deku asks, squinting at the screen.

>"Just evil." Kyoka quickly answers, but you aren't quite sure if she's joking this time or actually believes it.

"So cool!~ Ah wanna be able to do that someday!" You cheer for your heroine, then try to imitate her, looking at your classmates at your left, pouting and leaning forwards just a bit. "Wouldn't you rather stop that and spend some time with me?~"

You aren't quite sure what you expected, but Koda just quickly covers his eyes and Deku looks away, neither of them doing anything but mumble a bit.

>"Yeesh. That is a huge bruise." Uraraka comments, looking down at your star with a grimace on her face.

After staring at your teammate with a completely blank expression for a second or two you return your focus to your heroine, idol, and shining hope to leave the pervert behind.

>"Midnight is a tough opponent, but he isn't even trying." Recovery Girl points out, disappointed. "To study at U.A. is to hurdle ever higher obstacles, to keep going after you feel you can't go on anymore. It's not something you do just because you can get in, you need to have a reason to put yourself through it all and still stand proud."

You share a silent, brief glance with your teammate at that and nod. You can stand proud, knowing you have a worthy cause you are doing this for.

>"I just wanted to get chicks… To touch them…" You hear Grape Juice say between heavy breathing as he stands far from the gate, possibly catching his breath.

>"That's… Boldly frank." Recovery Girl notes, treating it like a mere curiosity.

"..." You can do little but gawk and look about at the other gals in the room, hoping someone would find the right words and address it as the problem it is. He pretty much admitted to being here to get his grubby mitts on you all!

While Uraraka doesn't seem to dwell on it as you do, Kyoka scowls and huffs, clearly bothered by her remark if not the boy that prompted it, but doesn't say anything either.
It seems you'll have to do it yourself if you want anyone to bring it up.

At least what you see when you turn back to the screen does immediately lift your spirits, a perfectly cracked snake whip stings the pervert's ball-wielding hand, knocking him over as he yelps.

"Oh!~ Desperate and outmached, he might as well be bait!" You say, giddily holding your own whip up to your chest. "She's going on the hunt!"

>"You are too... happy about this." Uraraka points out, raising an eyebrow as she eyes you and your whip.

"Y'all aren't excited enough! Just look at her, she owns the stage!" You shoot back, huffing and focusing back on the screen.

>"If anyone deserves to be at the end of a scourge, it's him." Kyoka affirms, not sharing whatever concerns Uraraka may have.

>"This was already over. With the gate under control, all I had to do was sit still and wait… But where's the fun in that?" Midnight says as she struts closer to the downed fiend, licking her lips and twirling her whip. "But watching you crying and running away like that… It makes the sadist in me ache for a chance to play."

>"E-enervating your prey with those predatory eyes…" Grape Juice notes as he scrambles to get back up. "You are not messing arou-"

Realizing how close she was getting, he shuts up and uses his massive gloves to cover his face, whimpering as he turns his back on her, unable to breathe.

>"That's right! Make sure to cover your mouth and nose! Just one whiff of me will end you if you don't…" Midnight tells him, walking down his trail like a model, cracking her whip overhead as she asks. "What can you even do in that state?"

>"He's running out of time." Deku points out, glancing down at the timer on the machine. "Even if he finds somewhere to take a breath, he's got minutes to get back to the gate or disable her."

>"I'm sending the stretcher robots, the last thing we need is for him to hurt himself by suffocation." Recovery Girl says, her hands gliding over the console. "At the very least, someone will need to bring Sero here."

"Somnambulist is completely harmless anyway, Cellophane will be alright." You say, knowing he'll be okay after it wears off. "Grape Juice on the other hand?~"

You can see how poorly he's doing, running away without breathing is practically throwing the exam away, if he doesn't just faint due to oxygen deprivation within a couple seconds.

>"Yes! Run! RUN!" Midnight taunts him, lashing her whip and cracking besides him without touching him, one, two, three times in quick succession before he manages to hide behind some rocks.

>"I didn't think she'd miss that much." Uraraka remarks, doubting the heroine's skills.

"She ain't tryin' to hit him sugah! She's herdin' him like cattle!" You tell her. "It's pretty obvious! Everythin' she's done so far is textbook Midnight!"

After a brief second during which everyone present but Recovery Girl and Bakugo glanced at each other, you shrug and continue admiring Midnight's work.

>"You have what? Two minutes left at most?" She continues taunting him, strutting in his direction without haste. With her whip and quirk, she doesn't need to get too close anyways. "Do you think you can hold your breath for two minutes? Let alone fight?"

>"I was wrong." Grape Juice declares with conviction… and you have no idea why.

"Did Ah miss sumthin'?" You ask, but only get shrugs in response.

>"It's Mineta, there's a whole host of wrong with him." Kyoka jabs.

>"A pervy hero like you… There's no way I wouldn't be a fan of yours." Grape Juice declares, wasting the precious few seconds of fresh air he has left before needing to cover his face again. "Running away… Whining like that! All to lure out your sadistic side and bring you out here! All so that one day I too could be a cool dude!"

"The <heck> does that mea-ow, oh come on that’s barely one!" You ask after feeling the sting of the nurse's cane on your skull.

>"He wants to get girls to like him, dear." Recovery Girl explains. "That's usually a secondary motivation to most boys, first time I've seen anyone have it as their main goal."

With a hand on your head nursing the headache to be, you keep watching.

>"You have a plan, then? Show me!" Midnight demands, bringing her whip back in preparation for a more potent crack.

In response, Grape Juice runs towards her like a madman, a strip of tape sealing his nose and mouth and making him inintelligible as he mumbles on, much to Midnight's surprise.

>"Your plan is to fight as you suffocate?!" The heroine asks as she cracks the whip at him this time, bewildered at his sudden offensive.

To your dismay, you have the perfect camera view to see as your purple clad classmate runs at and past Midnight while throwing his sticky balls with frightening accuracy at her hand and whip… and a whole lot of other places, but you can't believe he managed those first two.

>"Not bad, not bad at all…" The heroine says, tugging on her stuck whip as Grape Juice runs past her.

"...She let him win." You bemoan as Grape Juice goes to recover his teammate. "She just had to stay put…"

>"Yeah! Now that she's stuck far from the gate, he can breathe freely!" Deku celebrates with a fist pump.

>"Ooh… Clever boy, I didn't see that coming." Recovery Girl says as the boy in question tears off the tape from his face. "If he sticks to it, I guess getting girls can be a goal too."

Looking away as the exhausted Grape Juice throws up, you glance at the other gals in the room.

"He's comin'..." You are the first to admit, sighing and slouching your shoulders.

>"I guess we better get used to looking over our shoulders." Kyoka grumbles.

>"We've tolerated him so far, it won't be that bad!" Uraraka tries to cheer both of you up, but it doesn't help too much.

“Barely, and that thread becomes thinner by the day…” You add.

>"You had to save me and make me do the work, right Sero?" Grape Juice asks his unconscious teammate, slinging his arm over his shoulders and bringing him along to the threshold. "Now come on, we don't have much time… This one time, the boobs can wait."

>"MINETA AND SERO HAVE PASSED THE EXAM!" Recovery Girl announces, apparently ignoring his final remark making you shake your open hands between her and the screen. The hero then looks down at the digital display for a couple of seconds, until it starts beeping. "TIME IS UP! YOUR FINAL EXAM IS OVER!"

Glancing at the two teams facing defeat on the screens, you sigh again and step away, almost not noticing Bakugo falling over the moment you try. At some point you had started supporting keeping him upright.

"Easy there… When did you fall asleep anyway?…" You wonder, sliding your arms under his neck and knees and carrying him a few feet over to a bed, not too dissimilar to how Koda brought Kyoka. "Guess you lost that challenge, eh?"

>"He's completely exhausted and injured. The only thing that should surprise you is that the poor dear lasted this long." Recovery Girl tells you as she comes over, before smooching his forehead. Now it's certain he's not going to wake up any time soon.

>"Well, that’s a wrap. Let's get changed and go home." Kyoka says, walking out of the field infirmary, with Koda following her. "...Sure, just don't follow me into the changing room… I was kidding! I never thought that you'd do that."

>"Yeah, let's get going. I don't want to forget anything before I can put pen to paper." Deku says, stretching and then walking away, looking over his shoulder. "Thank you for letting us stay, Recovery Girl!"

>"Thank you for having us, Recovery Girl!" Uraraka adds, following the green haired boy out.

In a way, that's it. You passed the Practical Exams, as did most of your friends… Considering how sore you still feel, you wonder if you should call in to Spring Tiger later to skip today's training?... But what to do now though?

Putting Invisible Girl up against 13 sounds like a really irresponsible idea. 13 is incredibly lethal and has to rely on stopping her Quirk before someone gets too close. Hard to do that with an opponent she can't see.

I think it’s kinda to do with us having almost Mineta level knowledge of Midnight, combined with idolizing a sex symbol/object, while we basically threaten to punch the lights out of any one that treats us that way!

You scan the screens, now much less active, for a couple more seconds. Having watched how all your classmates and friends did, you aren't quite sure how to feel yet. Not exactly the end result you wanted for them all, but at least most weren't injured… Mostly just you, Deku and his caustic teammate that you just helped put down for naptime.

"Hard to speak ill of ya when you're like this." You mutter, looking back down at the nigh-immobile boy on the bed. Last time you saw him unconscious, done in by your own hands, he still looked mad even as he slept. Like he was beating the tar out of the sandman in his dreams. This time it might be the softest facial expression you’ve seen on him, completely neutral, probably not even dreaming out of sheer exhaustion. "Have a good sleep pal, or you'll feel it all in the mornin'."

>"He'd be feeling it into the next term if he hadn't crashed like he had." Recovery Girl comments, now the only other person in the field infirmary. "But at least he got it treated, unlike others I could mention."

"Yeah… Sorry about that, Ah just couldn't miss the action… Ah'm even a fair bit bummed 'bout missing two…" You explain, trailing off as your mouth is still working faster than your brain. Only then you realize that you have precious few minutes if you intend to catch Team Bestfriend together. "...Ah gotta go."

>"Take it easy for at least a couple days, okay dear? That's not a life threatening injury you have there, but it's still an injury!" The nurse recommends, then continues staring at you for a couple seconds. "...Still here? I fully expected you to bolt before I could finish."

"Thank you, Recovery Girl." Instead of running, you bow again. Recovery Girl is still one of those people that actually deserve to be treated with all the stuffy courtesy. Then you (slowly) stand up straight and point your thumb back at Bakugo on the bed. "He'll be okay by himself, right? With everyone leavin' early today…"

>"Don't worry, Walker. If he doesn't look like he’ll wake up by closing time, we'll notify his family." The nurse explains, seemingly pleased that you bothered to ask.

"Nice." You say, giving her another smaller bow. More of a deep nod really while you quickly put on your jacket and horn covers and store your ointment away in your utility belt. "Now Ah'm leavin'!"

You know the school's campus thoroughly by now. As long as they don't rush and you don't tarry it shouldn't be hard to intercept them before the locker room split. After that, trying to get ahold of Shoto would be really weird and potentially illegal… Not that anyone at UA would care anyway.

Without waiting for any answer, you take off running- and immediately wince and slow down to just a powerwalk coming out of the tent ...and slam into Deku.

"<Drat!>" You growl as you painfully bounce against him, surprised at his presence and that of Uraraka next to him, looking pretty… relieved, for some reason. "What'cha even doin' still here pal!?"
>>
>"Sorry!" He immediately answers, raising his hands in surrender and taking a step back. "I-I just wanted to ask about your match, since I was unable to observe it like the others. I figured it was best to ask while everything was still fresh?"

"Uraraka’s right there. Y'all can have a good walk together and she'll tell ya all 'bout it, cuz, ya know, she was there too. And not even concussed!" You say, sighing and pointing at your partner, who now looks at you like you had just marked her for execution. "Now <toodles> or whatever, Ah gotta go!"

Taking a good gander around to make sure you aren't going to run into anything else, you start taking all the shortcuts you know of to get to the main infirmary, from simply using the closest stairs up to exploiting a robot service tunnel Tin told you about once (amongst many other useful tidbits about the buildings). You probably broke a couple rules if anyone were to have caught you, but it's all worth it as you spot the pair walking side by side. Far from any regular classrooms, and instead in one of the halls reserved for workshops, clubs and auditoriums. Incidentally in the same path you'd take if you were going to look for Mei in her natural habitat.

Both look frazzled, but thankfully uninjured. If you didn't already know that they beat Mr. Aizawa earlier, you would assume a weird case of coordinated bad hair day. What's weirder still to you are the dolls. Both in appearance and sheer quantity, as Momo seems to be keeping a dozen or more of the shiny rounded things tucked into the trench of her belt while Shoto is holding another, rotating it and examining it from all sides.

Locked in conversation, neither of them are really looking ahead to notice you closing the distance. Being the dead period after non-hero course students have left, but with the other hero courses still busy, the hall is silent enough for even you to hear them from afar as you approach.

>"-shame that you have to do that. It is really well done." Shoto comments, counting something on the doll on his fingers then doing the same while looking at Momo's costume. "The detail alone is impressive."

>"Well, thank you! I consider learning to create these dolls in full detail without thinking about it to be the first milestone for my quirk." Momo replies with a pinkish tone to her cheeks. She emits the same bubbliness that she had before the exam week. "Naturally, that also means I own far too many of them already, and must dispose of these. Not much can be done with them either, considering they all look the same, like me."

>"And bringing them to the support class's workshop to be scrapped is far better than throwing them in the garbage, true." Shoto says, nodding along. "They will probably make for an excellent merchandise opportunity once you are a professional though. Best in the market, I'd bet."

>"Do you really think so?" She asks, almost glowing now after taking in more praise. "Of course, you must know about that face of the industry extensively."

>"Indeed. Father's merchandise is almost as b-" Shoto starts, his good mood clearly souring as the cute upwards curve of his lips resets at the mention of his old man's anything. It prompts a confused look from Momo and an opportunity for you to interrupt before anything else happens.

"Creati! Sho… We gotta talk 'bout that hero name of yours, Sugah!" You say breaking into a short sprint, picking them both up at once in a hug while enduring the pain, glad to have made it in time. "Anyway! Creati, Shoto! How did ya get through so fast! Was it artillery? Tell me it was artillery!"

>"Full use of both of our quirks and exploitation of our opponent's weaknesses in ocular dependance, all directed by Yaoyorozu's tactical acumen." Shoto succinctly explains, exchanging your curiosity for confusion as you set them both down. "Although there was ordnance involved."

You nod, then look at Momo, tilting your head to the left a bit and wave your hands, silently pleading for an actual explanation. You already got enough of this from Deku at the tent, but at least Shoto looks at you as he talks, his version of a smile having returned.

>"A description of events, then?" She asks and you nod. "From the beginning, I knew we needed to be resourceful. Mr. Aizawa's speed and maneuverability would be hard to overcome even without a quirk as disruptive as his. So I planned to use his reliance on his sight to disorient him and force him into a trap, using Todoroki's… Again, I apologize for that."

Huh? She went from confidently explaining to bashfully apologizing to Shoto.

>"Don't worry. I'm already used to being dragged by the wrist by my friends." He says, looking squarely at you, and rewarded with a sheepish smile. How else were you supposed to get him to try new stuff and places?

>"Well then, as I was saying, after disorienting him and hiding from his sight… If you can call creating a glacier between us hiding, we sprung our trap. We caught Mr. Aizawa in a net woven of fabric designed to mimic his own weapon yet improved to work as a synergetic capture device, binding him when Todoroki's flames activated it." Momo explains with repressed enthusiasm, clearly prouder of her plan than she wants to show.

>"What she skipped was mostly avoiding Mr. Aizawa by running away." Shoto adds with a small nod, satisfied with the explanation. "Still, the plan worked flawlessly once all the pieces fell into place."

It's nowhere near as good as seeing it happen, but it still paints an understandable picture… With one glaring hole.

"Sooo, what's with the dolls then?" You ask them. They look great, but why do they have so many after a fight? Actually, even one would be curious.

>"I made them to disorientate Mr. Aizawa." Momo tells you, looking down at all the dolls on her belt. "...There were leftovers."

"You distracted him ...with dolls...of-is that you?!" You ask while looking at the doll in Shoto's hands, baffled.

>"No. Disorientate." Shoto corrects you, cracking the doll open and revealing the aforementioned ordnance, its pin still in.

"That's... The second coolest doll Ah've ever seen!" You say. The doll itself is nothing less than awesome, as it looks and even smells like her… And it has a presumably working flashbang inside.

>"...Second?" Momo asks you, slightly tilting her head as she asks… mirroring you from mere moments ago.

"Ah'm carryin' the first here with me, a bonafide original~" You say with a bit of a sing song, opening a particular pouch in your belt-

>"Are you carrying live explosives, Ushi?" Shoto asks, softly grabbing your arm near your wrist and stopping your search.

"...No? Wait… ...no, not today." After a moment of mulling it over, then push off his wrist with your free hand before digging out your own doll and applying your quirk to return it to its original size. A sculpted, painted and almost fully articulating replica of yourself that sometimes happens to be the same size as the original at 6 inches tall. "Ta-da!"

>"...May I have a closer look?" Momo asks, reaching for your plastic doppelganger. She’s… startled by it?

"Sure. Just be careful, it's one of a kind." You tell her.

>"Just-" She starts, but stops herself, focusing instead on the doll in her hands, brushing its hair with her thumb.

>"Looks very detailed, professionally so. Did you make it yourself?" Shoto asks, looking over Momo's shoulder at the miniature as she examines it, lifting its little cape and looking at the doll's back, visibly surprised by the precise patterns painted on the jacket.

"Nah, Mr. Kamihara did, back durin' mah internship with Edgeshot!" You tell them, fondly remembering your time patrolling with the hero and training with him and Johai.

>"Kamihara, as in Edgeshot's family name?" Momo inquires, holding up the miniature and posing it in the same way you are standing.

"...Yeah. Huh, hadn't thought of that." You comment, thinking back at the kind old man you spent half a day with. "May be related, not sure."

>"If it is the same Mr. Kamihara I'm thinking of, he's a well respected professional." Shoto explains. "It's impossible to hand make every miniature for the best possible quality, but starting mass production with a quality Hero miniature guarantees a baseline level of quality."

"Ain't they all hero minis?" You ask, eyeing the doll shifting in his hand.

>"The master copies of toys and merchandise are called Hero. It's also what they use when shooting the commercials." Your heterochromic pal explains.

While Momo continues to look over your miniature, you reach towards Shoto and quickly yoink the Momo doll out of his hand, examining it closely. Other than the stylistic differences required for it to look like a russian doll, it's almost exactly a picture of its creator… but something is off.

As she holds your doll up, using the articulation points to imitate your pose, you raise her doll in kind and compare them for a second.

"...The face." You say as you figure it out.

>"Pardon?" Your friend asks, lowering the mini-Ushi.

"The face, it's not quite like ya." You exclaim pointing at the doll's expression while looking at your friend's soft smile that you most often see on her. "It looks neutral, bored even. Where's the smile?"

>"I… guess I could do that." She says, thinking about it. "Not now though, I still need to get rid of all of these."

"Right. Hand 'em over, Ah'm good at carryin' stuff." You say, shrinking the one you have in hand.

>"You want to bring these in the workshop with us?" Shoto wonders, taking a couple of dolls out of Momo's belt to her surprise.

"'Yuup. Can't recall the last time we've hung out together, if ever!" You tell them, accepting the dolls and quickly shrinking them.

The way to the workshop is short and disoccupied, so you freely chat with your friends, telling them all about your own exam and the shots you took from Snipe. Your star proves itself useful on the trip, allowing them both to see the bruising and calm their concerns without needing to show anything else.

As soon as you restore the dolls to size and leave them in a crate at the donation/scrap corner, your phone starts beeping, alerting you of new messages. Quickly taking it out, you skim the group messages.

"'s Toru, she's invitin' everyone to hang out to celebrate the end of the term and passin' the exams." You tell your friends, then look down at your phone again when it beeps again. "Kirishima responded with a sad face on a rock emoji and Mina with a crying alien one… Toru is sayin' that they need the cheer more than anyone else. Huh."

>"Ashido and Kirishima failed?" Momo asks, covering her mouth.

>"I don't think I heard about any team being eliminated… Did they time out?" Shoto deduces.

"'Yuup. Hard matchups had 'em spinnin' their wheels 'nd goin' nowhere." You tell them, keeping it simple.

>"A shame, really. Ashido wanted nothing more than to attend the training camp." Momo sighs, still holding your doll carefully in two hands.

You have to remember to ask for that back at some point.

Seconding >>4535278.

Quick convo with Momo about backups for our doll, then eat mat at Tiger's Den.

Though for a bit of a write in add-on, let Spring Tiger know up front that we're banged up from the exam, but we didn't want her to think that we're shirking our training. Let her make the decision on how hard to go( or if to go at all with Ushi, she's the teacher and will know best. But we shouldn't ditch outright.

Adding calling the dojo and telling Spring we can't make it because we got shot.
>>
>>4535309
Forgot to add calling Momma as well.
>>
>>4535215
so add to >>4535224
to keep a momo-tryoshka,
as well as calling Tiger to leave a message like
"Got shot, can't make it to training"

>telling mom we got shot at school

And she though she would avoid hearing that moving to japan.

Also Mic does Ushi have any tokens from the times she was part of trick shots and whip tricks? Like a penny with a bullet hole.
>>
>>4535335
I was keeping this for later, but Ushi does have a few knick knacks, the most notable being a deck of cards with every card having a bullet hole, a whip cut or both.
>>
>>4535349
We should pull up the deck out when we have another sleep over with the girls.

Let’s call our Ma, and let Spring Tiger know we’re resting today on Nurse’s orders.

As far as getting Ushi decoys, we could always just say we’re not sure whether it’d be asking too much to ask support to make them.

That is where we’re supposed to go for these things.

Second time posting, hopefully the thread doesn't eat it this time.
Supporting these:

and presuming that's all successful, these addendums
>[Keep a Momo doll]
>[Reschedule with Spring Tiger]
>[Call Momma to tell her whats up and where you're headed]

Ask Tiger if she has any advice for our injury. Wrestlers have to know when and how they need to recover since it's crucial to their livelihood to not develop career ending injuries. She could have some sage advice.

Fun fact: a full third of all the world's recorded 8.5+ earthquakes happened in Chile.

. . . Okay, calling some of the worst natural disasters fun facts was a bit glib. I apologize.
