Tuesday 29th August (Day 142)

That morning when you arrive at the warehouse, you’re glad to see things kicking into gear.

Your morning began well, as it usually does when you wake up next to Yuzu. It gets even better when you arrive at the warehouse. Your teammates, after taking some well-deserved rest after helping take out the All-Stars are returning to top form, likely the result of the news of the upcoming show match on home grounds with Chi-Ha-Tan and yourselves taking on St. Gloriana and Pravda. While you didn’t get the best impression of them when you fought them the last time you’re confident you’ll be able to win, especially since for the rest of your teammates they’ll be fighting in their home city which should hopefully help negate the firepower advantage that the Gloriana/Pravda joint team will bring.

You observe for a minute as you walk in the various teams tending to their tanks. Ooarai thankfully took very little damage in the match especially given the proclivity of the All-Stars to target opposing Commanders of which your teammates are not.

“Hey, Commander!” A soot-covered Azusa greets you as you walk in. “How are you?”

“I’m fine, Azusa.” You reply to the Rabbit. You gesture to the soot, “I see you’re getting stuck in.”

“Cleaning difficulties,” she mumbles in reply, gesturing to her tank. You look over and see the other Rabbits in a similar state though their tank does look spotless.

“Well, you’ve done a good job of it,” you nod.

“Th-thanks, Commander,” Azusa looks away blushing for a second before her eyes widen as she realises something. “Oh yeah! Commander Nishizumi wanted to see you!”

“She does?”

You get a nod in response.

“Do you know what for?”

“No clue,” Azusa chirps. You nod back to her.

“Let’s go find out then, shall we?” You motion for her to lead the way and she takes a second to orient herself before heading towards the lounge area at the back. You find Miho there, studying what seems to be a map of Ooarai.

“Miho,” you say, announcing your presence as you walk over. “You need something?”

“Fritz,” she smiles back at you. “I sure do, sit.” You take a seat opposite her and after a second’s hesitation, Azusa takes one next to you. The two of you focus on Miho.

“As you both know, we have the show match coming up on the weekend,” she explains. “Unfortunately, we don’t haven’t been able to get in contact with Chi-Ha-Tan since their initial correspondence and we don’t have any up to date maps of Ooarai.” She gestures to the one on the table. “We also need to get morning practice done today.”

> ”Let me handle morning practice, why don’t you head over to Chi-Ha-Tan to figure it out?”

Miho nods at your suggestion.

“Yeah, getting into contact with Chi-Ha-Tan is important, so I’ll go handle that. Will you be alright to handle morning practice by yourself?”

“Well, I’m sure we’ll manage it between the two of us,” you say nudging Azusa.

“Huh? I mean yeah! We can totally handle morning practice!” She says, nodding enthusiastically.

“And I’ll ask Anzu about the map,” you add before Miho can ask about that.

“Sounds like a plan then,” Miho replies. “I’ll head off then, have fun.”

You look to Azusa as she leaves. “Shall we?”

“Let's,” she replies. The two of you stand and head back into the warehouse.

Training goes well. No tank is too damaged to participate so your entire team can participate. It all goes smoothly, and soon you’re back in the warehouse.

>Job out getting a map to Anzu.

At lunch, you head to the council office. Miho has returned, as evidenced by the helicopter returning to the helicopter station you have set up.

You knock on the door and soon receive the ‘enter’. You walk in and the council is arranged as usual – Yuzu working, Momo ‘working’ and Anzu not even bothering to hide it.

“Hey Fritz, I was gonna call you anyway, come sit!” You take a seat opposite Anzu.

“I need a map of Ooarai for us to plan on,” you say as you sit.

“Done,” she says immediately, “You’ll have it tomorrow, but we need to talk about your trip to America.”

“What about it?” You ask.

“I need Koyama here,” she replies. “Take one of the automotive club instead, they’ll be more useful.”

You look over to Yuzu who just shrugs and smiles, What can you do?

> ”I need her for valuable moral support!”

You cry out. Anzu looks unimpressed but you double down on it.

“Without her, I won’t be performing at my peak! You want a win, don’t you?”

“You performed just fine before you were dating her.” Anzu points out.

“But I sought her out quickly in order to improve my game.” You look over to said girl who’s blushing furiously. Surprisingly, it’s Momo who comes to your rescue.

“Well, President the prize money is a million dollars for the winning school, if he even improves one percent it’d be worth it…” She says.

“That’s a good point,” Anzu murmurs. She turns to Otto on her lap. “What do you think?”

“Meow,” he answers. That seems to be the right answer as Anzu sighs and nods.

“Alright, but I want that win, Hermann.” You start to celebrate but she cuts you off. “And you’ll be helping with the left-over paperwork!”

“Of course, I will,” you promise. That seems to be good enough for her. She nods and leans back into her chair.

> Find out how it went from Miho

When you enter the warehouse, you make a beeline for Anglerfish team. Sure enough, you find her atop her tank putting one of her spaced armour sheets back in place.

“Hey, Miho!” You call. “How’d it go!?”

“Well!” She replies. She jumps off her tank and lands in front of you. “Their commander isn’t very good with technology, so she tried to send a message through carrier pigeon! I don’t think it made it.”

“That’s… interesting,” you answer. “Do we at least have a way to talk to them?”

“I have a phone number,” Miho confirms. “They suggested a meeting sometime this week, what do you think?

> “Let’s invite them over, we should have a map by then.”

“Sure! We can go over what tanks we’ll take as well then.” Miho says. At your confused look she expands. “The show match is limited to sixteen a side, so we won’t be able to deploy in full force.”

“Hmm, only eight of us, right?” You ask, getting a nod from Miho.

“And eight from Chi-Ha-Tan.”

You cast your eye over the tanks in the warehouse, every one of the teams present would likely make a good choice for the team.

“Sure, sounds good to me,” you say. You spend the rest of practice making small talk with Miho and the rest of Anglerfish team who begin to appear as you finish your conversation.

> Ask Yuzu, Momo, and Anzu to give you a tour of the city

As practice ends and Garupans begin to stream out of the building, you manage to catch the student council.

“Fritz,” Anzu greets you as you hug Yuzu. “Do you need anything?”

“Well Prez, we have a match in Ooarai and I can count the number of times I’ve been out and about in it on one hand, so I was wondering if you guys could show me around.”

“Hmm,” Anzu strokes her chin. “We’ll do a flyover, we’re busy tonight but I suppose it’s important you’re acquainted with the city.”

“It’s not like you actually do the work,” you point out.

“I don’t,” she confirms. “But Koyama and Kawashima do, and I doubt they want to be up all night.” You look to the two of them, and though they try to hide it, you can see the grimace at the thought of working late.

“Alright, fine.” You acquiesce. “Let’s get moving then.”

“Let’s.” Anzu turns and begins to march towards the helipad, and after pausing to take Yuzu’s hand you do the same.

It’s not hard to find a helicopter or a pilot and a few minutes later you’re in the air. Thankfully, the schoolship was close, making it a short trip.

“So, Fritz.” Yuzu begins as you approach. “Do you want to see the cool things or important things?”

“Important things?” You ask.

“Important for the upcoming show match,” Momo clarifies. You take a second to think about it.

> “Show me the important things.” Might as well get started now.

“Sure thing!” Yuzu answers. She turns away from you and walks over to the cockpit. After a short conversation with the pilot, which probably would have been easier to have over the intercom, she returns to the seat next to you, and the pilot banks towards the city.

“You see those!?” Anzu shouts as you pass over the city. “Those bridges cross the Hinuma river! The field is on both sides, so they’ll be pretty important!” You look at the aforementioned bridges as you fly over the river. There are three of them, spread out across Ooarai linking the city and the fields next to it.

“To our left are the fields!” Yuzu nudges you and directs your attention to the other window. “Wide open, not a lot of cover, but that goes both ways.”

“Might be useful to take our longer-ranged tanks out that way,” you muse.

“Definitely!” Anzu nods. “Especially given the density of the city!” Anzu points out of the window on the other side and sure enough, you can see the city, bustling with life. “The north of the city is pretty open, but the south?” Anzu shakes her head. “Packed with buildings.”

“Well you and the rest of the team are familiar with the city, right?” You ask.

“Most of them,” Momo answers. “Enough in each team that they should be able to make use of the city.”

“I’ll keep that in mind,” you nod. The helicopter meanders over Ooarai a little longer before you turn back to the carrier. When you get back the student council quickly takes their leave, heading back towards their office.

When you arrive at your apartment Erika is already asleep, sprawled out across your bed. You slide under the covers next to her and not a second later she attaches herself to your back.

Wednesday 30th August (Day 143)

When you wake up that morning, Erika is missing. While not a cause for concern it is unusual.

“You know where she is, bud?” You ask Otto who’s lounging in the early morning sun.

“Meow,” the cat walks over to the window, and after a moment to wake up you follow. It takes a minute, but sure enough, Erika comes sprinting into view.

“I never took you for a runner!” You shout as you open the window.

“I bet Rosehip I could beat her in a foot race!” Erika shouts back. You cringe as she says it. Rosehip is fast, your sister as far as you know, not so much.

“Well good luck!” You shout. Erika nods then takes off again.

Erika returns as you finish cooking breakfast. After a shower and gobbling down a plate of eggs she’s ready and the two of you leave for the warehouse

>Go over the map that Anzu should have found

When you enter the warehouse, you make a beeline for the lounge area. As expected, Miho and Azusa are already looking over it.

“So, what are you guys thinking?” You ask as you approach.

“Well, we were just thinking about how we’re going to fight them,” Azusa explains. “Our main concern was how to deal with any rockets they bring.”

“We were thinking we either draw them into the town where the buildings will block them or use some of our faster tanks to flank and destroy them,” Miho explains. “The worst part is, we can’t even plan properly because they get to pick the starting side.”

We really cannot afford to be outside of the city if they are spamming rocket artillery like we think they are. And allowing Chi-Ha-Tan to be part of planning will likely be counterproductive, they will only want to charge.

“Not really,” Miho says as she scratches her head. “The city itself will have Sensha-Do insurance and the Federation covers costs too so the financial cost won’t really be a problem.”

“So, we only really have to worry about winning,” Azusa chips in.

“Good to know we won’t be stuck with the bill then… The President would probably have a stroke.” You murmur.

“Yeah, I don’t think she’d enjoy it!” Miho laughs.

“Either way, it depends on how many rocket tanks they bring,” You say. “One or two might be manageable without resorting to hiding in the city but anymore than that might be too much for us to deal with.”

“But if we hide in the city, they may end up flanking us,” Azusa murmurs, looking towards the open fields to the north.”

“No good options, ey?” You sigh. Your two peers can’t help but agree with you.

>Meet with the History Club, it’s been too long.

It’s a bit of an effort to find the History Club. You’ve never sought them out at lunch before, leaving their location one that takes some effort to pin down. Thankfully, they’re rather distinctive and a quick question to the public morals committee lets you pin down their location. You find them on the roof and quickly take down a seat next to them.

The conversation is hearty and it soon turns to the upcoming show match.

“So, Mackensen, what are our chances this weekend?” Oryou asks. “To lose on our home turf would be embarrassing.”

“Like the Battle of Suomussalmi in the Winter War,” Erwin opines.

“Or the Battle of Edessa,” Caesar nods.

“Hmm,” The girls nod at that, accepting the analogy.

“How many rocket tanks do you think they’ll bring?” Caesar wonders aloud.

“Knowing our enemies, I reckon a lot!” Erwin answers confidently. “I bet Pravda will bring eight Katyusha rocket trucks!”

“I uh, don’t think that rocket trucks are legal.” You answer, taking the wind out of Erwin’s sails. “I’m sure there are other rocket systems they could take though.”

“None as useful as the Whizzbangs we have on our Sherman though,” Saemonza points out. You rack your brains for a minute and slowly start nodding.

“You might be right, Soviet rocket artillery was good, but I can only think of BT variants that would be Sensha-Do legal.” You pause and stroke your chin for a minute. “I think St. Gloriana is also pretty limited in their selection.”

“So we may have nothing to fear!” Erwin cheers. You certainly hope so.

>The meeting with Chi-Ha-Tan

Around evening, Chi-Ha-Tan finally arrives. Their carrier arrives on the horizon not long after lunch but it takes a while for the Chi-Ha-Tan delegation to arrive. You’re there to greet them when they do.

“Hello, there!” the (relatively) tall girl waves at you as you come aboard. “I’m Kinuyo Nishi! Commander of Chi-Ha-Tan Academy’s Sensha-Do team!”

“Hello Commander Nishi,” you say as you approach. “I’m Fritz Hermann, pleasure to meet you. You’ve already met Commander Nishizumi haven’t you?”

“I have,” she confirms as she shakes your hand. “And we met before at duel I believe.”

“We did,” you reply. “Let’s head for the warehouse.” The three of you, plus a short girl who introduces herself as Fukuda head to the warehouse. Once you arrive, you lay out your dilemma of the rockets. Nishi nods seriously as she listens.

“If we’re scared of rockets knocking us out, we need to knock them out first!” Nishi declares. “We’ll charge straight at them and eliminate the rocket tanks!”

“That won’t work if they’re expecting it,” Miho warns. “If we manage to flank them we could take out any rocket tanks without exposing ourselves to too much risk.”

“I, uh,” Fukuda begins unconfidently.

“Go on, Fukuda,” Nishi says encouragingly. Fukuda takes a minute to compose herself before talking.

“We bought the Ka-Mi amphibious tanks, right? Why not use them?”

“I’m not sure, Fukuda, we’ve not tested them.” Nishi frowns.

“We, uh. We have three Ka-Mi amphibious tanks we bought not too long ago, they’re based on the Ha-Go, so their guns aren’t very strong, but they might be useful for a surprise flank.” Fukuda explains as she points to the beaches on the map. “They could easily move between the beaches undetected. I doubt they’d last very long but ah, they might make a good distraction? Or even take out the rocket tanks from behind!”

“But if we take those, we’ll be able to take fewer medium tanks,” Nishi frowns. “That’ll weaken our charge.”

“To be fair, your tanks aren’t the, uh, strongest?” You carefully chip in. “No offense, Nishi but I don’t know if a charge would work against the likes of Pravda’s heavy tanks.”

“But the charge is our way of combat, the team would be in an uproar!” She argues.

“Wouldn’t they prefer to win though?” You ask.

“I!” She makes to argue but she thinks about it for a second and backs down with a sigh. “I agree, Commander Hermann.”

“At the very least, you can support any charges with our heavy tanks,” Miho chips in. “They’ll probably make it more survivable against Pravda’s big guns.”

“If we charge,” she remembers to add much to Nishi’s dismay.

“Well, if we’re taking the three Ka-Mis then we’ll take five Chi-Has,” She says getting over the lack of charging. “Three normal and two Shinhotos.”

“So, it’s up to us to supply any heavy tanks or heavier medium tanks then,” Miho summarises. “Fritz, do you have any thoughts on what tanks we should take? I think the M6 and the Tiger (P) for sure; a couple of tank destroyers; the rocket Sherman; us two and something else.”

Hey guys, any particular reason we're taking the rocket Sherman and aren't including Erika? I don't see the rockets being very useful this fight, and Erika is one of our strongest members.
>>
>>4517538

The Rockets can still be useful depending on where the enemy is. Especially if they try to flank from the field.
>>
>>4517551
But a majority of the map is urban, where they are less than useless, an active hinderance to the mobility of the rest of the team. In my opinion, that isn't worth including on the case where they "can be useful if they are in a few specific areas". Do you disagree?

> Agree with Miho’s selection
> Take Erika instead of the Rocket Sherman
> take Duck team as the final member

“That sounds good, Miho, but perhaps we should drop the rocket Sherman?” You ask. Miho tilts her head questioningly, so you explain. “Our entire plan revolves around negating any potential rockets, so wouldn’t that make taking the Whizzbang redundant?”

“Yeah, I suppose you’re right,” Miho nods. “So who do you think we should replace it with?”

“Erika and her crew,” you say immediately. “I reckon they’ll be able to wreak havoc on Pravda and St. Gloriana.”

“Definitely!” Miho laughs. “And for the final member?”

“Duck team,” the two of you say in unison. That gets another laugh from Miho.

You turn back to Nishi and Fukuda. “I think you should take the Ka-Mis, they may not be too strong, but if we use them at the right time it may help more than we think.”

“Sounds like a plan!” Nishi beams at you, throwing up a salute.

“Right!” Fukuda shouts too, also clumsily throwing up a salute.

You spend a bit more time talking with them before they must leave for their schoolship. By the time you’ve escorted them to the disembarking point and seen them off it’s late, and by the time you’ve made it back to the warehouse, most people are gone.

“That was a productive evening,” you say to Miho as you re-enter the warehouse. Your eyes are drawn to Werewolf’s usual spot where he’s conspicuously absent. By now, he’s probably part way to America.

“It certainly was!” Miho replies. "It feels exciting to finally have an opportunity to practice Sensha-Do without the pressure of the school closing down on our backs!”

That's it for tonight fellas,

As you can no doubt guess, Uni's screwing up our previous schedule. I reckon from now on, on Fridays and Saturdays we can have the usual long sessions and on other days I'll just update throughout the day like I did today.

Anyways, thanks for playing, I'll see y'all tomorrow.

> “Yeah, screw that.”

You shudder as you say it. “I think any longer and the pressure would have ruined my complexion.”

“I’m sure you’d look fine, Fritz,” Miho laughs as she walks towards the lounge area.

> Suggest getting a bite to eat somewhere to Miho

“Do you want to grab a bite to eat, Miho?” You ask as she does. “I can’t be bothered to cook tonight.”

She takes a second to think about it before nodding. “Sure! Let me just go grab my bag!”

> See if Yuzu is free

As she heads to the lounge, you shoot a text to Yuzu asking if she wants to come with you. Unfortunately, she declines but suggests coming over afterward especially if you bring some food with you.

You get the hint and promise to bring back a takeaway of some kind which earns you a heart emoji. Hell yeah.

“Alright, I’m ready,” Miho says as she approaches. You look towards Frederick the Great again, but unfortunately, it seems that Yukari has disappeared.

“Let’s go then,” you say gesturing to the door. You close them behind you and Miho locks it.

It’s a short walk to the high street and you soon find yourself seated in a noodle shop. You order for yourself and something to take back to Yuzu, Miho also orders herself some noodles.

“It’s been a long time since we sat down like this, huh Fritz?” Miho says from opposite you. “Always work, work, work.”

“Yeah, I suppose it has,” you agree. “Though I suppose that’s just what happens when you have so many friends – you can’t spend time with all of them all of the time so some get neglected.”

“Mhm,” Miho makes a noise of agreement. “I’m glad the problem is too many friends though.”

“Agreed,” you hold up a can of some fizz drink which she clinks hers against.

After your dinner with Miho, you collect Yuzu’s takeaway and head over to hers. It feels slightly weird since most of the time the two of you end up going back to your place.

“Heya, Fritz,” She says softly as she opens the door to her apartment. You wrap the arm not holding the noodles around her and she wraps hers around you.

“Heya, I brought you noodles.” You say, hefting the bag. She eagerly takes it from you and walks over to the table.

“Help me move this?” She asks, gesturing to the paperwork on the table. You oblige, shifting some of it away from one side of the table.

“That’s a lot of paperwork,” you observe as she tucks in.

“Mhm,” she answers through a bite of food. “I wanted to get a head start on the backlog we’re going to have when we come back from America.”

“Do you want some help?” You force yourself to offer.

“Nope!” Yuzu laughs but there’s no humour in it. “I am going to finish my noodles then we’re going to go to bed and you’re going to hug me so tight I pop.”

That sounds like a far more enjoyable evening. “Deal.”

Thursday 31st August (Day 144)

For the first time in quite a while, you wake up somewhere unfamiliar. What is familiar is who you wake up next to. Yuzu, and somehow Otto, are there with you.

After a hearty breakfast, Yuzu and you head for the warehouse. You split up when you reach the entrance, yourself heading for Frederick the Great and Yuzu towards the student council.

“Hey, Fritz!” Ruby calls as she pops out of the turret. “How’s it going!?”

“Not bad,” you answer.

> ”Yourself and the others used to the tank yet?”

“Eh hee-hee, not really,” she admits, scratching her head and blushing slightly.

“No?” You ask, slightly confused. Your crew is good, very good in fact, and you’d have expected them to be almost ready to roll at this point. “Is it a problem with the tank?”

“Well, yes and no,” she answers. “It’s not that there’s anything physically wrong with the tank, I’ve been able to aim it just fine and the sights are perfect. Axel didn’t have any problems loading, and I think Max and Leo have no mechanical problems either. Do you!?”

She shouts the last bit, clanging the turret as she does.

"Bugger off, Ruby! Last thing we need is more noise in our head!" Comes Max's reply followed by some choice words that get Sodoko's attention.

“So, what is the problem?”

Ruby climbs down off the tank so you can talk with slightly more privacy as Max gets berated by Sodoko.

“The problem is that good ol’ Freddie can be very oppressive,” she explains. “It’s alright when you enter but the second you get into your position-ugh!, we get a barrage of visions! We can’t fight like that Fritz!”

“Right,” you mutter back. It makes sense now that you think about it – Frederick the Great is far older than Werewolf, and while as far as you know Werewolf only fought in a few engagements, Frederick fought for years across the Eastern Front.

"What are we going to do, Fritz?"

Your confidence seems to inspire some in Ruby.

“Right! Let’s do it!” She says, she spins towards Frederick the Great and begins marching. You follow her, only stopping to let Sodoko warn you to keep better control of your crew.

“Has Ruby told you ‘bout the bloody hallucinations?” Max’s voice calls the second you climb into the tank.

“Yep, we’re going to deal with it now.” You confirm. “Button up everyone.”

Your crew obliges, locking hatches behind them. Before you climb into the Commander’s spot you address your crew.

“So, have all of you been having these visions?” You ask.

“Aye.”
“Unfortunately.”
“Axel has too.”

“Right,” you nod, stroking your chin. “I think the best way to deal with this is to talk to Frederick, find out why this is happening.”

“Well, good luck with that,” Leo grumbles. “He’s unresponsive unless he’s assaulting your head.”

“Go ahead, Fritz. Take a seat and see what happens.” Max chips in, gesturing to your Commander’s seat.

“Perhaps I will,” you reply. You approach the seat, brace yourself and on the count of three, take a seat.

It’s exactly as Ruby described.

Visions fill your head, it’s dizzying – you’d definitely be unable to fight like this. You try to focus on Frederick himself and then you feel it – excitement. That’s when it all starts to make sense.

“Fritz! You alright!?” You can hear your crew somewhere in the distance, but you ignore them to focus on Frederick and that excitement. He responds eagerly, guiding you towards even more visions and they all have a single thing in common. They’re all lessons.

Your grandfather doing surveillance of the Horizon, him estimating ranges by eye, setting up an ambush, hundreds of hours of combat experience rushing into your head. It’d all be useful stuff for tankery, revolutionary even, if you could remember all of it.

> Let yourself stumble out of your seat so the rising buzzing in your head stops, and so you can tell your crew about this.

You let go of the nearby support you were holding onto and allow yourself to fall off the seat. Instantly, the buzzing stops, and your head, mercifully, clears up.

“Fritz!” You hear Ruby cry. She catches you as you fall, you’re too heavy for her though and you’re about to hit the floor. Thankfully, Axel swoops in.

“My hero,” you groan as he lays you down.

“Ye alright?” Max asks as he prods you. “Yer nose looks like ye went a round with Schmeling.”

“It does?” You ask dumbly. You go to touch your nose, but Leo slaps your hand away while Ruby dabs your nose with a tissue. It comes back red.

“It wasn’t that bad for any of us,” Leo observes.

“Maybe because what I saw was actually decipherable?” You offer. All of them immediately lock onto you.

“Explain,” Ruby says, leaving no room for argument.

“I saw my Grandfather in a bunch of situations, hundreds of hours’ worth of stuff in a minute. I think if I go back in, I could learn a lot.”

“Well yer, ain’t going back in any time soon boss!” Max grunts. Between himself and Axel they lift you towards the hatch which Leo opens for you. You barely get a breath of fresh air before you’re assailed again.

“Fritz! Are you alright?” Miho asks as she spots you. That gets Yuzu and Erika’s attention, the two of them dropping what they were doing and making a beeline towards you.

“Fritz? What happened!?” Erika calls as she runs over. Yuzu is behind her, she hasn’t said anything, but you can see the worry on her face.

“Ey? What the fu- hell do you mean by that!” Erika demands, the reference clearly going straight over her head.

“I commanded a Tiger once, Fritz. If you need me to show you how to move around in one, I wouldn’t mind.” Miho offers not unkindly.

“You’ll be doing no such thing,” Yuzu frowns looking at you. “Come on, we’re going to the Nurse’s office.” Her tone of voice leaves no room for argument.

After being dropped off at said office and reassuring Yuzu that you won’t drop dead, she leaves.

> Go hang with the student council

After lessons you begin to make your way towards the council office. You don’t get very far before Yuzu intercepts you.

“I was on the way to the council office already you know.” You half-complain half-state.

“I’m just making sure you get there without getting injured again.” She says it sweetly but also leaves no room for you to protest. You weren’t really planning to protest so nothing really is lost.

When you get to the office, Yuzu dumps you in her chair instead of one of the seats in front of Anzu’s desk. Otto, who for once had been lounging on the desk and not Anzu takes that as an opportunity too and relocates to your lap.

“I’m going to go grab us some lunch,” Yuzu declares, moving away. “Momo-chan, keep an eye on him. Hamstring him if he tries anything.”

“Right!” Momo doesn’t even notice the informal form of address.

> Just chat with Anzu, let Yuzu work it out of her system

You decide to let Yuzu fuss if it’ll help her calm down.

“Don’t worry, Fritz.” Anzu reassures you from her chair. “It was only a matter of time until you were the subject of Koyama in Mama Bear mode.”

After taking a second to think, you respond: “Now that you mention it, she was pretty proactive when Erika got injured.”

“Exactly!” Anzu nods. “Kawashima and I have been recipients too. Haven’t we Kawashima?”

“We have, President!” Momo confirms. “I’m reminded of when we were both ill and the Vice-President looked after both us and the paperwork”

“Really? That’s…”

“Inhuman?” Anzu offers.

“I was going to say impressive,” you counter. “But I suppose inhuman works.”

“Mhm, so just kick back and enjoy it, Fritz.” Anzu finishes. “That’s what I do anyway.”

That sounds like good advice.

> Try talking to Frederick the Great again

After a lunch filled with fussing over you, Yuzu is still reluctant to let you out of her sight. Eventually, she gives in, though not before charging Axel with your safety as apparently the most reliable member of your crew.

“So, what’s the plan this time, Fritz?” Leo asks. “Are you going to try the same thing again? I wouldn’t recommend it.”

“Aye, we need a whole crew te’ fight.” Max adds. “Cannae do that if yer brains are scrambled.”

“I say we just send the damn tank to Munster and let them put it on display,” Ruby grumbles.

“We won’t have a tank for the match if we do that,” Leo points out.

Axel just polishes a shell.

“And, maybe also talk to the Occult club or Yukari beforehand, see what they have to stay.”

Your entire crew looks at you like you’ve grown another head.

“Talking to the occult club sounds like a good start,” Ruby offers diplomatically.

“And the rest of my plan?” You prompt.

“Sounds like utter dog-“ Max is cut off when Leo elbows him in the ribs.

“It could use some work,” Leo answers in his steed. “Fritz, it had the worst effect on you, why would you do it again?”

“Because I was the only one that got anything useful from it,” you point out. “All you guys got was headaches.”

“Which’ll be no use if yer a vegetable,” Max bluntly points out. The area goes quiet, it seems yourself and your crew are at an impasse.

“How about we go talk to the Occult club now?” You offer. “It can’t hurt to get their opinion before we go any further.”

“Fine,” Ruby answers for them. The five of you stand and you begin your journey to the other side of the warehouse.

“Hello Commander,” Akane says as you approach. “And Co. how can I help you?”

“We’re having trouble with our tank,” you begin. “When we sit in it we get visions.”

“Visions,” she repeats, obviously interested now, “of what?”

“For us, it’s sort of just tv static,” Leo says. “Fritz can actually see things, but it gave him a nosebleed.”

“Interesting,” she hums. “Have you tried doing whatever causes them at the same time? It might help take some of the load off. It could also cause you all to pass out – I’d recommend having someone there.”

“We will,” you promise. Your team and you depart towards Frederick the Great. “I reckon we get Miho to watch us.”

“Agreed.”
“Absolutely.”
“Aye.”
Axel nods.

“Fine, I’ll go grab her.” You break off from the rest of your crew and head towards Anglerfish team. Ruby follows and when you reach Anglerfish she breaks off to talk to Hana.

“Commander Hermann!” Yukari greets you from under the tank as you walk over. “What brings you to us today?”

“Hello, Yukari. Is Miho around?”

“She sure is!” Yukari confirms. She pushes herself out from under the tank and leaps to her feet before scrambling into the tank. A minute later Miho appears.

“Hi, Fritz!” She says as she does. “Do you need something?”

“Can you watch us as we talk to Frederick?” You ask. “The Occult club said it’s best to have someone watching us as we do.”

“Sure!” Miho answers with a nod. Yukari looks like she’s about to ask a question, but you cut her off before she can.

“You can watch too Yukari.”

“Aw yeah!”

The four of you head back to Frederick the Great where your crew is waiting.

“It’s going to be awfully cramped if seven of us are inside the tank,” Leo observes.

“They’re useful enough that it’s worth the discomfort,” you counter. Leo concedes the point and the lot of you slowly enter the tank. It’s an awkward affair but Yukari manages to squeeze herself in somehow and Miho is half out of the tank in your hatch.

“Ready?” You ask your crew. They nod and slowly take their positions. You brace yourself and do the same.

> Rolled 3 (1d20)

Your world swirls, just as badly as it did last time. Frederick the Great greats you with the same excitement, immediately directing you towards the same visions of your grandfather you saw last time. It threatens to sweep you away and you feel the same headache welling up inside of you. Then, it calms down.

You feel the headache subside and you suddenly become aware of the rest of your crew. You can’t exactly see or talk to them but they’re there and it seems to be stable. You can also feel another presence that you know is Yukari but that can be addressed later.

> Focus on explaining to Frederick that visions are not conducive to good performance

Frederick tries to guide you towards another vision of your Grandfather but thanks to the stabilising presence of your crew (and Yukari) you’re able to stop him.

Confusion rolls off Frederick the Great as you resist. Why wouldn’t you want to learn how your Grandfather did? It takes you a minute, more than a minute, in fact, to explain it but you eventually manage to get across the concept that it’s too much at a time. It takes an analogy regarding too many targets but that gets him to understand and the buzzing in your head that had been slowly building up starts to recede.

> Try to watch the visions as close as you can

As they do recede a couple linger behind. You try to focus on one so as not to cause yourself to pass out again.

Which vision do you focus on?

> The one where Frederick fought a company of IS-2s

You see the Eastern Front. It’s cold, as expected of Russia. You’re seeing things through your grandfather’s perspective and you can feel your crew in the positions of the other crew members. Yukari, however, you catch a glimpse of floating around outside the tank. How wild.

Frederick is travelling on a ‘road’, or what counts for one on the eastern front – a strip of slightly less boggy dirt. Ahead of Frederick is a Tiger II and behind him another Tiger.

The Tiger II is the first to go.

You don’t hear the shot, but you certainly see it. It connects with the side of the Tiger II and it goes up like an inferno. You flinch away from the hit but have no time to process it when you hear another thump behind you. You (your grandfather technically) turn and see the Tiger that was behind you go up in flames as well.

“Off the road! To the right!” You call in a voice that’s similar but not quite yours. The tank immediately veers off to the right, just in time to avoid another shell flying straight towards you.

Frederick continues moving parallel to the road as you look to the opposite side in order to try spot your assailants. They don’t make it difficult as a minute later, three IS-2s rumble into view. Their first and last mistake.

By closing the distance, they brought themselves into effective range. More importantly, in order to keep up with you, they need to turn and chase you.

“Gunner! Lead IS-2! APCR! Aim for the turret!” You shout. You hear a grumble in response that sounds nothing like Ruby but seconds later, Frederick stops, fires, then keeps moving. You immediately focus on the next tank, but in the corner of your eye you see an explosion signalling an ammo rack detonation. Good.

Then, the IS-2s return fire. The shots are inaccurate, but with guns that big they just have to land in the same postcode. The first shot wings your turret, gouging a hole in the armour before continuing past you and exploding. The second lands next to your track, blows up and takes it out.

You’re thrown around as the tank violently swerves. Thankfully, it was your left track so your frontal armour is facing the IS-2s. Unfortunately, you’re immobilised.

“Shit!” You find yourself cursing. “Gunner! IS-2 at 10 O’clock! Aim for the lower plate! APCR!”

You watch the gun frantically swivel towards the IS-2 and a second later, it fires. It takes a second to travel but the shot connects. It appears to fail for a moment before the armour gives way and the IS-2 stops moving. Tankers scramble out of the tank, trying to get to safety. There’s not much to find in the Russian wilderness but your radioman makes sure they won’t be finding any.

With that, it’s down to a 1v1, a sure win for a crew like yours. “Gunner! 1 O’clock! Aim for the lower plate! APCR!”

“We’re out of AP and APCR!” Comes the Gunner’s response. You feel the panic setting in for a second before training snaps in and beats it down.

“Load the HE! Skip the shot!” You order. For most it would be a hail Mary, a final throw of the dice. For a crew like yours? Just another Thursday.

The shot screams forward, bouncing across the ground twice, like a stone on a lake. It starts to tumble, but before it breaks up it slams into the IS-2 causing it to erupt and the vision to end…

You wake up shortly after that and the first thing you see is Miho.

“Uh, can I help you?” You struggle to say.

“I was just about to pull you out,” she explains. “All of you actually, but you all woke up before I could.”

“Well, thanks for watching out for us, Miho.”

“That’s what I’m here for!” She smiles.

You see your crew are also slowly ‘waking’ from their visions. Your legs are slightly shaky, but Miho helps you out of the tank. The two of you then proceed to help the rest of your crew out. Yukari, however, has far more spring in her step.

You watch as she scrambles out of the tank before leaping to the ground.

“Oh wow! That was so exciting!” she says, buzzing.

“You weren’t the one getting shot at!” Max snaps but there’s no heat behind it and it does nothing to bring down her mood.

“You get a good view from up there?” You ask the fluffy loader.

“I sure did! It was amazing!” Yukari launches into an explanation from a bird’s eye view for Miho who didn’t see anything. Your crew and you head to the lounge to discuss what you just saw.

> Hail Mary – can roll an extra d100 Bo3 when firing HE to try ‘skipping’ it across the ground and into the bottom of the tank. Instant knock out if it succeeds

“I want to skip a shell,” Ruby says as soon as you sit down.

“It was pretty cool,” you nod. “Do you think you can do it?”

“Is the sky blue?” She snorts. “Anything that a gunner can do, I can do.” She pauses for a second. “I could use some practice though.”

“So, you’ll get it,” you nod. You spend the next few minutes discussing what you saw with them.

> Chill with Yuzu

As soon as evening practice ends, you seek out Yuzu.

It seems she was expecting you. The second you come into view she holds out her arms for a hug which you eagerly take her up on.

“You want to chill tonight?” You ask. She doesn’t answer verbally but you can see her nodding against your chest. “Good.”

She breaks the hug and smiles up at you. “Let me grab my bag and we can head home.”

“Sure,” you answer. She dashes away to grab it and a few moments later you’re on the way back to yours.

“So, Fritz, what did you get up to after we split for tankery practice? Nothing dangerous I hope…”

“How cute,” Yuzu giggles. “It’s good to stay close to childhood friends.”

“Are you speaking from experience?” You ask as the two of you continue the walk back to your apartment.

Yuzu nods. “Momo-chan, the Prez, and I have been friends for years. There’s no one in the world I trust more.”

“Good to hear,” you smile back. Yuzu squeezes your hand and smiles back as the two of you continue back to your apartment.

“Isn’t that lamppost meant to have been fixed?” Yuzu asks pointing at one right in front of your apartment complex.

“It…was?” You reply, eyebrows furrowed. “Last time it was knocked over by Rosehip’s tank – a car accident maybe?”

“I don’t see any wreckage,” Yuzu murmurs. “How odd.”

The two of you decide not to spend anymore time on it and head up. When you enter, your question is answered. Erika and Rosehip are sprawled out asleep across your sofa, surrounded by junk food. Your eye twitches when you notice a tipped over can of coke.

“How cute!” Yuzu snickers looking at the two of them. “Put a blanket over them, Fritz, I suppose we’ll have to be quiet.”

Your mood is suddenly a lot better

> Give them to Ruby, draft Miho and her crew into helping you.

“Take em,” you say, gesturing to the two. They voice no complaints, likely preferring a morning on the range to getting dirty helping other teams.

“Just us, hmm?” Leo muses.

You shake your head. “We’ll grab Anglerfish team to help us, otherwise I don’t think we’d get much done.”

“I don’t know… it’s only four tanks each.” He muses. You stop and give him a look. It doesn’t take twenty seconds for him to burst out laughing.

“You’ve got to be more serious when you try that,” you say. “And pick something more believable.”

“Hello, Fritz, Leo” Hana greets the two of you as you approach. “How are you two?”

“We’re good,” you answer for Leo and yourself. Before Leo can get distracted by Saori you address the purpose of your visit. “Are you and the rest of Anglerfish up for inspecting the other tanks that’ll be part of the team tomorrow?”

“I believe we are,” Hana replies. “Excuse me a moment.” Hana promptly turns around and enters the tank. She re-emerges with Mako and Yukari in hand. “I can’t seem to find Miho, but will these two plus Saori and myself suffice?”

“That should be fine,” you reply. “Many hands make light work.”

“And too many chefs spoil the broth,” Mako grumbles before trying to escape. Thankfully she’s intercepted by Saori who helps you putting her to work.

> Make sure Nishi and Chi-Ha-Tan is ready for tomorrow

At lunch, you head up to the roof to make a call to Chi-Ha-Tan. You pull out the number you got from Miho and type it in. You have to wait an unusually long time but eventually you get through.

“Uh, hello?” Nishi’s voice comes through the handset. “Am I doing this right?”

“Hi Nishi, it’s Fritz from Ooarai.” You reply, ignoring the question.

“Oh! Hermann!” Nishi’s voice relaxes. “How are things at Ooarai, do you need something?”

“Things are good, we’re just gearing up for tomorrow,” you say. “How are things on your end, are you ready to go?”

“Yes! Chi-Ha-Tan is ready to fight!” Nishi confirms. “We’ll send Pravda and St. Gloriana running!”

“Heh, hope we do,”

> Work on a skill with your crew: More Shell Skipping Practice

That evening, you take your crew and Frederick the Great out onto the range again. You don’t usually go out in the evenings but its common enough that no one’s surprised when you do. It also helps that the intrusive visions are gone. Frederick is still active in your head and you can ‘hear’ his suggestions as you move but they’re not distracting enough to take away from what’s in front of you.

“You know, I only need Max and Axel to practice,” Ruby reminds the rest of you as you rumble towards the range.

“Eh, might as well see how it’s done,” you shrug. “Besides, I’m not losing anything by being here, the team’s already prepped.”

“I’m just bored,” Leo adds eloquently. That gets a snort of laughter from your gunner who drops the subject.

Training goes well. Or, as well as training a brand-new skill learned while having a vision can go. Ruby manages to do it. Not always successfully and not always very quickly but she improves over the session. She seems satisfied with per progress at the very least if a little impatient at how slowly it’s going but you’re just happy to have another tool on your belt.

> Make Erika clean your floor properly

As practice ends you make sure to be by the door. People funnel out around you, but you ignore them and scan the crowd.

“And where do you think you’re going?” You ask loudly as you grab Erika by the scruff of the neck.

“Oi! Let go you pedo!” She tries to wiggle out of your grip but you clamp your hand down.

“You have a floor to clean,” you reply, ignoring the accusation.

“But I can’t! Rosehip is here! Look!” She points ahead of her and you look over. Sure enough, there’s Rosehip. You beckon her over.

“Hello Commander Hermann!” She greets you as she jogs over.

“Hello, Rosehip,” you return the greeting. “What brings you to Ooarai.”

“Spying!” She says aloud and without hesitation. The three of you begin walking back towards your apartment as she continues. “Ms. Darjeeling sent me to do so!”

“And how’s it going?” You ask.

“Poorly!” She admits with equal amounts of enthusiasm. “I got distracted yesterday!”

“Making a mess, yes.” She blushes at that but by the time you reach your apartment she’s back to grinning like a madwoman.

“Alright, get to work.” You say. Erika glares at you as you hand her a cleaning spray and some rags. She snatches them from you and angrily storms off towards your living room.

“How come it’s just me cleaning!?” She complains as she does.

“Because Rosehip is a guest.”

That answer doesn’t make her any happier.

Saturday 2nd September (Day 146)

That morning you wake up early to kick Rosehip out. While you like the girl and think she’d be a good match for Erika,o she’s also meant to be conducting a spy mission which, while apparently unsuccessful so far, could still uncover the existence of Chi-Ha-Tan’s Ka-Mis which wouldn’t bode well for you.

You make sure to send her off on a full stomach though, cooking a hearty breakfast as you do before most matches.

>Inform Grampa Freddie that he’ll be fighting Russian *and* British tanks today
>[Tell] Miho to check up with Nishi to make sure she knows what time the match is and how many tanks to bring

With Rosehip dealt with, you and Erika head for the warehouse. The rest of the team is also there, both those participating and those who aren’t. Erika and you split, she heads for her crew and you head for Anglerfish team.

“Hey, Fritz!” Saori waves as you walk over. “Did you bring Max or Leo with you?”

“Not today,” you reply, laughing at her expression. “I wanted to ask Miho to check up on Nishi, make sure they’ll be there, and bring the right number of tanks.”

“Check up on Nishi, make sure they’ll be there, bring the right number of tanks,” Saori repeats. “I can tell her if you want!”

“Sure, that’d be useful,” you chat with Saori for a little longer before heading over to your crew.

“You alright, Freddie?” You ask as you climb up onto the tank. You can’t help but laugh at the utter bewilderment you feel emanating from him when you say that. “We’re hunting Russia and British tanks today.”

‘Russian’ gets his attention. You’re immediately blasted with another vision of a field of burning T-34s. Lots of burning T-34s in fact. Thankfully, they recede and you’re left feeling his anticipation (and slight disappointment at not using live rounds).

“About what ah ‘xpected,” Max grumbles upon feeling the same thing. You can’t help but agree.

The journey is a short one, literally just port to city. Anzu and Miho don’t bother organising transports and instead, you simply drive off and down the specially designed tank ramp and towards the primary rally point. It’s there you’ll wait until your opposition picks a side.

>Try and find Darjeeling and Katyusha to distract them for Yukari say hello

As you wait for their decision, you approach Anglerfish team.

“Hey Fritz, we don’t have any word on the side they chose yet,” Miho states, assuming your reason for walking over.

You shake your head. “That’s not why I’m here, Miho. Is Yukari free?”

“Is Yukari- oh! You want her to spy?” She asks.

“Sure do,” you nod.

“Yukari!” Miho shouts. A second later, she appears out of one of the side hatches of the Panzer IV.

“Miss Nishizumi? What is it?” She then sees you. “Oh, Commander Hermann!”

“Hello, Yukari. Do you feel like doing some recon against St. Gloriana and Pravda?”

“Of course!” She answers as she scrambles out of the tank. “It should be easy since we’re in Ooarai!”

“Good stuff, I’m counting on you.” Yukari throws up a salute as you say that then heads off in the rough direction of the St.Gloriana/Pravda camp.

“Where are you going?” Miho asks as you as you turn to leave as well.

“To run interference,” you answer.

You walk towards the judges’ primary booth it’s in a pretty central area to both rally points making it easily accessible as well as easily visible. You wait for a minute and sure enough, you soon have visitors.

дoбpoe yтpo кpacaвчик,” the Russian signals Klara’s approach. You turn to face her and you’re surprised to see that it’s Klara carrying Katyusha with no Nonna in sight. You also see Darjeeling approach with Orange Pekoe in tow.

“Hello everyone,” you say to the approaching Commanders. “Ready for a fun match?”

“Katyusha is prepared to wipe the floor with you!” She proclaims from atop Klara.

“And we’re looking forward to an exciting Match,” Darjeeling smiles.

“Where’s Nonna?” You ask. “Is she ill?”

“Nothing of the sort,” Katyusha grins evilly. “She’s just watching for any intruders.

>”Oh, you mean like me? Obviously, my plan to infiltrate your camp has been thwarted by your cunning strategy, Katyusha. Oh, Darjeeling, did Rosehip get home ok? Erika wanted to make sure.”

“You can tell young Erika that Rosehip made it home in one piece,” Darjeeling replies, smiling genially at you.

“Unlike your spy!” Katyusha cackles, just as she says that, you hear the crack of a (BB) rifle and a very familiar voice shouting. You’re then treated to the sight of Yukari sprinting past you, several Pravda students in hot pursuit.

“Get her!” One shouts. You’re tempted to intervene but thankfully, Yukari manages to outrun them, reaching Miho who’s apparently the safe zone.

“Damn it!” Katyusha curses when Yukari makes it back safely. “You! Nina! Did she see anything?”

“Uh, no ma’am!” The small Pravda student replies. “Comrade Nonna spotted her before she could.”

“Good!” Katyusha shouts. She takes a couple of breaths to calm herself down before turning back to you. “Try beating us without knowing what we’re going to do!”

With that, Klara turns and the two of them start marching towards their team. You turn to Darjeeling.

"How am I the one catching flack when Rosehip was spying on us?"

"Well, all's fair in love and war," she replies.

"John Lyly," Pekoe chips in.

"And besides, I know my subordinates well, Hermann so I know with some certainty she got no spying done," Darjeeling winks at you and turns. "Good luck."

When you reach your rally point, both Nishi and Miho are frowning at a map.

“What’s up?” You ask as you approach.

“St. Gloriana and Pravda have picked the south end of the map to start,” Miho frowns, tapping the red circle. That means we’re at the northeastern end.”

“Meaning we have a lot of open ground between us,” you frown. “How are we going about this?”

“Chi-Ha-tan will be heading south to deploy their Ka-Mis,” Miho replies drawing a green line on the map. “Between themselves they’re going to try to envelop anything on the east of the main road.”

“And us?”

“I was thinking of deploying our heavy tanks down the main road while our other tanks head north to try and pincer them from that side,” she responds drawing a few more lines.

“I think we send the Ducks north, Miho.” You reply. “If we let the Erika and TDs stay on the south bank, they can shoot anything the Ducks spot.”

Miho takes a moment to consider your proposal before nodding slowly. “Good Idea, Fritz.” She looks up at you and grins. “That’s why I keep you around.”

“Mhm, tha- hey!” It takes you a second to register what she said, but by that point, her and Nishi are already on their way to their tanks. You can only sigh.

A few moments later, you follow their lead, heading for your tank.

The engine is already warm and your crew ready, Frederick included. The rest of your team is also ready to go, rapidly scrambling for their tanks when you tell them the match has begun.

It doesn’t take long to reach your start point despite the distance from your rally point. The city is empty. You can see your teammates native to Ibaraki looking around in awe, it’s probably the first time they’ve seen the city like this.

“Alright, everyone.” Miho begins from the Flag tank behind you. “Remember your roles. Hippo, Ocelot, and Hound. Your job is to cover Duck team from the south bank. The rest of us are to push through the northern end of the city towards the southern end to get into safety from any rocket tanks.”

“And remember,” Nishi begins. “Fight with honour! No hesitation! We’ll encircle and destroy them!”

With Nishi’s words, you see the starting flare and the match begins.

“Ey, Fritz,” Max calls as the match begins. “Why not put your lil’ protégé in charge? It’s just a show match, right?”

>”It’s a bit late for that.”

You reply. “A good idea, but she wouldn’t be able to prepare at all this late.”

“Far enough,” he grunts, returning his focus to driving.

“Panzer Vor!”
“Totsugeki!”

Comes the simultaneous battle cries of the two Commanders on your side. As you rumble forwards you can hear Chi-Ha-Tan singing faintly.

“We need a song!” Your sister gasps, scandalised.

“Something to consider afterwards,” you reply before turning your attention back to the match. “Anglerfish team, Wer-“ you pause, looking for a replacement – how could you call yourself Werewolf team if you’re not in Werewolf? “Wolf team will stick with you.”

> Guard Dog: Werewolf guards the flag tank. As long as Werewolf is within close range of the flag tank he gains 2HP of ‘armour’ (used before his 2HP) and 1 Penetration save but any shots directed at the flag tank hit him.

“Copy that,” Miho replies.

“Duck team, spot for Ocelot, will you?”

“Sure thing!” Noriko replies.

“Ocelot’s watching,” Mikan confirms.

You continue to move forward, almost reaching the open fields to your south and onto the main road.

“We’ll be awfully exposed if we go straight down the road,” Azusa murmurs as you approach.

“It’s also the fastest way to Ooarai proper!” Satoko declares as her Tiger P picks up speed.

“Well, they are on the other side of town currently,” Miho muses.

What?

>I mean ffs, it’s the *same* reason we’re not sending more than a scout to the north.
I understood your point the first time you said it. However, the North is almost entirely open, our path is not. Even still, starting down the main road does not lock us in to following it to its end. We can pull off of it like pic related and still be safe. Keep in mind they need to be within 5 or so squares to even see us.

>>4522226

*sigh* saying that they are not going to spot us is like saying the Zulu couldn’t beat the British Army.

>>4522308
How does that analogy fit at all? We aren't anticipating a horde of opponents with lesser technology, nor are we approaching them with a small number of forces. All you've done is say "what if rocket arty fell from the sky while we aren't around buildings" without responding to my points regarding the difficulty the enemy would have with even spotting us to launch rockets at us, nor did you give any response to my follow up plan to try to compromise / show another way to avoid detection.

“I reckon we continue down the main road,” you chip in. “We’ll be able to duck behind the buildings to our right if we need to and there are high trees to the left.”

“Mmm, okay,” Azusa says, deferring to you and Miho. Her tank picks up speed again and takes its place ahead of you and Miho.

“We’ll be able to go fast on the main road at least, so we won’t be exposed for long!” You hear Miho say to reassure your subordinate. As you continue south, you tune into what the other groups are doing.

“Duck team, how’s it going?” You ask.

“Well!” Noriko replies. “We’re almost at the bridge! We’ll on the north bank soon!”

“Good to hear,” you nod. “Nishi? How’s it going?”

“Well!” She replies. “We’re almost at the beach! But the Ka-Mis are going to be vulnerable while they launch so we’ll be pausing to cover them!”

You reply. “We’re still pretty far away so they should be safe.”

“Right! Thank you, Hermann!” You switch your attention back to Ooarai’s progress.

“Duck team, what’s your progress?” You overhear Miho ask as you continue to rumble down the main road.

“We’ve crossed the bridge and we’re heading south-west!” Noriko shouts back. “We’re really going to open up the throttle here and get stuck right in!”

“And we’re following them from the south bank!” Erika chips in helpfully on behalf of the rest of her group.

“Thanks guys keep us informed,” Miho says before turning her attention back to your heavy tank group plus Miho.

>”Keep your head on a swivel then.”

You reply.

“Right!” Azusa confirms. She doesn’t go back into her tank like most would and instead continues to peak out if only barely.

Your tanks continue to rumble down the main road. To your left, you’re passing the forested area marking the bounds of the golf course and to your right is a shopping centre linked with the rest of town.

“This is Nishi! Our Ka-Mi’s are entering the water!” She reports. You check a map passed up to you by Axel and note down where her tanks would therefore be – right by the top of the beach.

“Hey! Er- Commanders! We see one!” Comes Noriko’s excited voice! “It’s one of St. Gloriana’s fast ones!”

“A Crusader?” Miho asks.

“Yeah, sure! One of those!” Noriko replies enthusiastically.

“Does it have red highlights?” Erika pipes up.

“I uh, think so? It’s kinda far away…” Comes the reply from Duck team’s Commander. “I’m gonna chase it!”

“Wait for me!” Erika replies. “That’s Rosehip! I gotta take her out!”

“If we’ve seen one, it might mean they’re close,” Azusa chimes in before promptly tucking herself back into her cupola and closing the hatch.

We should start looking for relatively sheltered paths that let us swing north towards the river, so that we can better pincer the opponents. The main road should block view from Rosehip at least. We have to keep our eyes peeled extra now though, their other scouts could be close.

Could we get the starting positions back on the map, to compare relative movement?

Hey QM, how can we spot Rosehip from here? I count around 26 squares between us. Shouldn't that be well out of spotting range?

>>4523076
> all *you* have done is say “no they can’t spot or hit us!”
I mean... yes. If they can't spot us, they can't hit us, if they can't hit us, why are we worried?

> it’s that you’re ignoring the possibility of enemy ambush or faster movement.
No, I explicitly addressed these points earlier, but I'll do so again in case you missed them earlier. Due to previously established spotting rules (being in the range of 5 squares, though maybe these squares are smaller than standard ones given we spotted Rosehip), they would need to travel around double our speed all the way up to us, assuming they knew we were going this way. This isn't very feasible, as all speed boosts we've seen so far have a limited duration, and this map is huge. Now assuming somehow they were able to scout us on the road, it's doubtful their rockets would be in range, since ours only have a range of 5 squares. Theirs would have to beeline towards us from the start, and even then I doubt they would get in range.

Please keep the Ad Hominem out of this, it's immature at best.

“I’d prefer you didn’t, Erika.” You retort as soon as you hear your sister begin to contemplate that course of action. “Duck team, I’d also suggest you move south since you’re only out spotting today.”

“Agreed, do as Commander Hermann says,” Miho adds.

“Got it! We’re pulling back!” Noriko confirms, breaking contact with Rosehip. Erika’s lack of reply is slightly worrying but you find out from Ocelot team that it’s because she in fact slipped down the riverbank and they must help her up. Something to hold over her in the future, perhaps.

“The Ka-Mi’s have been deployed and they’re moving fast!” Nishi confirms with a laugh. “Really fast in fact. They should be at the southern beach soon.”

“Perfect, keep it up, Nishi!” Miho replies. As she’s dealing with your teammates, you focus on your little platoon. The city centre is straight ahead of you, as well as the end of the main road. With plenty of forest to your left and the shopping centre along with several houses to your right, you have plenty of options.

As you approach the city, you feel some hesitation from Frederick, as does the rest of your crew.

“Agreed, cities ain’t tank country,” Max complains from his position.

“We can find a way around if you want?” You offer. A vehement ‘no’ you can’t help but smile at – you’d almost forgotten this tank was a veteran, used to fighting odds that are stacked against it.”

>Move behind the row of buildings (Yellow)

“I think we’re close enough to the city, don’t you think, Miho?” You ask as you get ever closer to Ooarai’s main body.

“I think we are, Fritz,” She replies. “Alright, Leopon. Rabbit. Let’s head behind this row of houses and get out of the open.”

“On it!”
“Way ahead of you!”

Azusa and Nakajima reply respectively. They immediately alter their course to swerve through the shopping centre and behind the houses.

“Get behind those houses Max,” you order. You leave your driver to it and turn your attention to your other groups.

“The Ka-Mis are uh, progressing well!” A rather nervous Fukuda reports on behalf of Nishi. “The main force is also advancing at a rapid pace!”

“And we’re hugging the bank!” Noriko informs you. “We’re close enough Ocelot should be able to shoot anything we see!”

“And Rosehip is still buzzing about!” Erika also helpfully informs you. You hear what you assume is machine gun fire over the radio as she talks but that’s unlikely to have any effect without a miracle.

CRUNCH

Your tank grinds to a halt.

“Max, what’s wrong? Why aren’t we moving?” You ask.

“Transmission problems,” he grunts. “Shouldn’t take too long to fix.”

“I’d hope not, given we’re in the middle of the road,” you snap back. “Ruby, watch south with me.”

“Sure thing, Fritz.” The two of you watch south, as Mako tries to manoeuvre around you to get to the safety of the buildings.

“There!” Ruby calls. You follow the direction of the gun and see a Crusader emerge onto the main road from a side street. However, before you’re able to give her the order an even bigger threat emerges.

“ISU-152!” You call. “Southwest of us!” It’s pretty far away, but you’re immobilised in front of their very big gun.

As good as you may be, you’re not a veteran of the greatest war ever fought. Frederick is.

Before you’re able to give Ruby the order to turn the gun, it’s already turning. Far faster than you’ve ever seen a Tiger turret turn – the motors are whirring in protest. You also feel a strange sense of calm wash over you. Perhaps unnecessary – you are experienced enough not to freeze up but appreciated, nonetheless.

“On the way!” Ruby screams as she hammers the trigger.

THUMP

The shell screams forward. You notice almost a trail following it as if the shell was a tracer when you know for a fact that it can’t be.

“Don’t worry, Fritz! We’re here!” Saori’s voice fills your ear. Seconds later, a 75-millimetre shell flies past you and slams into the ISU-152. The gun slumps down and the white flag pops out. You don’t celebrate though.

“Crusader! To our 11 O’clock!” You bark into the intercom. The reload goes too smoothly, the shell being back in place far faster than you expected, allowing you to take a shot at the Crusader.

The round flies forward. You watch it streak towards the Crusader but unfortunately it manages to move before it can reach them. The round continues past where the Crusader was and detonates as it enters a small office building, blowing the glass front out.

“Uh, oops?” Your gunner offers.

“It’s covered by the Federation,” Leo reassures her.

Before you do anything, you take stock of the situation. Nishi’s Ka-Mi’s have spotted a force approaching the rest of Chi-Ha-Tan from the south.

“Fritz! Commander Nishizumi! Move!” Erika screams “We found the rocket tank! Move!”

“Max!” You shout.

“Fritz! Scatter!” Miho orders upon hearing Erika’s warning.

“Max! Gun it!” You order in response. You hear the turbocharger whirring, taking you up to your max speed far faster than you usually should be able to. You turn behind you and you’re relieved to see Miho ducking behind the buildings that your heavy tanks went behind.

“Erika! Advance on the rocket tank and destroy them before they fire!” You shout as you rumble forwards.

“Right!” She starts barking orders to her group as they begin pushing towards the medium tank line and the rocket tank.

“Nishi, can those Ka-Mis climb up at port?” You ask.

“They sure can!” Fukuda replies.

“Do it! Destroy those Matildas!”

“Heavy tanks! Spotted on the south road!” An unfamiliar voice rattles through your head making it one of Chi-Ha-Tan’s lot. Before you can even process that, Max calls to you.

“Fritz! Heads up!” He shouts. You look up and see three tanks ahead of you. A Churchill, a Matilda and the Centurion flag tank.

“Ruby, you got a shot?” You ask.

“Nope, Churchill’s blocking it.”

You eye the distance, they’re probably too far away to fire on you effectively but they’ll close the distance soon.

You take a second to judge the distance before coming to a decision.

“Ruby! T-34s! 11 O’clock!” You bark. “Aim for the front hull opposite the hatch!”

“You got it, Fritz!” She replies. The turret wheels around, almost no- definitely eager at the chance to deal with a pesky Russian tank.

“On the way!” Ruby shouts. A second later the shell is flying out the barrel. You don’t see it go but you definitely see the explosion when it impacts the T-34-85 and you definitely see the foam pooling out of the tank from the onboard safety systems.

“Scratch one!” You note to Frederick’s infinite approval. The other T-34 fires back at you and while it hits it fails to detonate. Your tank feels almost offended at the T-34 believing it could damage him.

With a second to think, you turn your attention to the rest of the field. Ocelot succeeded in stopping the rocket tank from firing and her group also managed to bag the Cromwell between them. The Ka-Mis on Nishi’s end managed to deal with one of the Matildas and the only thing you exchanged was a bit of damage on and a lot of cursing from Erika. A good trade.

CRACK-BOOM

You’re not really expecting it when your gun fires again. You follow the shot and see it impact the T-34 as it disengages. You didn’t kill it, but you definitely damaged it but you weren’t expecting to be able to fire again so soon.

“Ruby?” You ask.

“What?” She whines. “The reload went so smooth that I just had to take the shoot.

“Sure,” there’s no point in arguing given it did literally no harm. “Take us back to Angelfish, Max. Let’s not tangle with a Centurion by ourselves.”

You almost hear Frederick snort. A Centurion? I could deal with one of those. You’re not sure if he knows what one is exactly but he doesn’t protest when Max turns you towards Anglerfish and moves. You go through someone’s fence but the Federation is paying so it’s no big concern.

“This is Duck team! That pesky Crusader is still about!”

“Then deal with it,” you reply.

“It seems like they’ve had enough of dealing with Ooarai so they’re coming after us!” Nishi’s voice crackles through your ears. Sure enough, upon checking your map you see the enemy flag tank group heading south.

“Don’t worry, Nishi! We’ll deal with the tanks up here and come support you!” Miho replies.

“Easy to say, but they’ve all made a run for it.” You murmur.

You try to draw a bead on the T-44 or the T-34-85 in front of you but they very quickly move behind some of the buildings, frustrating your shot, your gunner, and your tank.

“Damn cowards! Running away!” Also, your sister if her howling over the Mic is anything to go on. While Leo chastises her for clogging the radio, you focus on what’s happening around the field.

Duck team got themselves knocked out for perhaps the first time, by stopping to take a shot at Rosehip they opened themselves up to a flank shot from the two Pravda tanks that escaped you.

Darjeeling’s flag tank group also disengaged and in conjunction with the two Pravda heavy tanks have thoroughly decimated Chi-Ha-tan’s amphibious forces without so much as a scratch in return.

“The flag tank is close!” You hear Nishi over the radio. “Charge in! Destroy everything on the way!”

You move for your mic to stop them. As far as you’re aware, charging hasn’t been very successful for them, and it certainly wasn’t against you. However, they have experience doing it and you haven’t fought with them enough to tell if there’s anything else they know how to do. You let them go.

“Flag tank group,” Miho’s voice crackles through the radio. "Let’s head south to support Chi-Ha-Tan! If they get knocked out we’re going to be outnumbered!”

“Right!”
“Okay!”
“Moving.”

Your two subordinates and you answer. As you turn towards the battle to the south, you get on the intercom.

“Erika, take your group and deal with those medium tanks please. We don’t want them flanking us.”

“Ah ha ha ha, you won’t escape from me, Rosehip!” She cackles.

“Keep that to the bedroom please,” you reply. You quickly change channel to escape the vitriol she’s likely throwing your way.

“We’re coming up on them, Fritz,” Max informs you. Your eyes snap up and you see yourself rumble into a big courtyard. Azusa bursts through a building next to you looking entirely too pleased with herself.

You turn the corner and sure enough, there’s St. Gloriana and Chi-Ha-Tan tangling it up.

>The Churchill

“Ruby! The Churchill!” you order. “We have a nice fat side angle, let’s not waste it!”

“I’m on it!” She shouts back. As she wheels the gun around, you see shots flying everywhere. Chi-Ha-Tan’s Chi-Ha’s have succeeded in causing havoc with their charge, damaging the Matildas in the process. Azusa then proceeds to knock one out with a well-placed shell that almost tips it over.

It’s not without loss though, Darjeeling’s Centurion and the Churchill accompanying her manage to knock out one of the Chi-Has. Nishi also gets promptly knocked out; her tank already damaged from earlier but one of her teammates pays her back by promptly knocking out the offender.

“On the way!” Ruby shouts. The round flies forth but curves off course slightly, missing the Churchill.

“Looks like ya did waste the fat side angle,” Max ‘observes’.

“You shut up and drive Mr. Chauffeur!” She snaps back.

While the two bicker you find out what happened elsewhere. Ocelot took a hit but in exchange they nailed Katyusha and damaged the T-44. Not a bad trade.

>Continue to push through the park towards the enemy force
>Make sure we stay in formation with our flag tank

“Max,” you snap, cutting through the argument. “Push forwards, let’s put some pressure on them.”

“You got it, Fritz,” your driver replies, slipping back into a more professional bearing.

“We’re moving up, Miho.” You inform your superior.

“Right behind you!” She replies. “Flag tank group, let’s advance on the enemy flag tank!”

Both Azusa and Satoko voice their acknowledgement and the four of you begin moving in through the park.

“What a mess…” Azusa murmurs as she sees what’s happening in the small portside area. With several rammings and many knife fights going on you can’t help but agree. It also seems you were wrong about Nishi, as while her tank is battered, there’s no white flag, meaning she’s still in the fight.

“Oi! Fritz!” Your sister pipes up. “Me and Ocelot have a shot on the flag tank! Just keep them from moving!”

“Ocelot and I,” you correct her. “How did you manage that?”

“Me and the others,” she says ignoring your correction. “managed to chase off the medium tanks and get behind it.”

“I see…”

Miho interrupts your thinking.

“Fritz, we need to distract them for your sister.” She says. “If we move down, I might be able to draw their attention.”

“That’s awfully risky,” you reply. “We’re winning on attrition.”

“We also aren’t really equipped to deal with a Centurion sans the Challenger,” she points out. “If we make sure she’s looking our way we can win it here.”

You hesitate, she’s right, but if it’s eight on one, you’re not sure how much of a chance they stand.

“Just trust me, Fritz.”

“…fine,” you agree against your better judgement. “Rabbit team’s coming with us.”

“I’ll be right behind the two of you,” she promises. With that dealt with, you begin the next part of your plan.

“Azusa, get ready to cover the flag tank. Nishi, we need you to put some more pressure on the enemy flag tank group.”

“Moving now!” Your faithful protégé chirps.

“Pressure?” You hear one of the Chi-Ha-Tan girls ask.

“It means to exert force,” Fukuda chips in helpfully.

“Charges are forceful…”

“A charge?”
“Charge?”
“Charge!”

Listening to the Chi-Ha-Tan thought process is fascinating, but the results have far more immediate concequences. Almost as soon as the word charge leaves Nishi’s mouth, Chi-Ha-Tan’s tanks surge forwards.

It’s a glorious sight, tons of Nippon steel rushing forwards towards the enemy. Unfortunately, the enemy team reacts fast.

Determined though they may be, charging single file doesn’t do them many favours.

The Churchill turns side on, forming a barrier between Darjeeling and Chi-Ha-Tan. A couple of them slip past but the Crusader manages to knock one off course and the IS-2 dissuades the other. The smaller Chi-Ha’s bled of momentum by the far larger tanks, Darjeeling begins moving south to escape the encirclement; you take a second to wonder how she knows before more swearing from Erika informs you of the T-44 keeping tabs on them.

You frantically traverse the turret around to get Ruby a shot before she disappears behind a building and she’s fit to escape until she notices Anglerfish team bobbing around behind you. She stops to take a final shot, gambling she can take any hit you can dish out.

That gives Hippo team a chance to aim.

>Roll 1d20 Bo3

For the JgPz, if they’re unable to hit this shot then we’ll play out the rest of the round. Autosuccess won’t work here but you have a reroll.

>Rolled 6 – Success

“Firing.”

Saemonza’s voice cuts through the others on the radio and for a split second, things seem to go silent.

Then Hippo team’s gun fires.

You can’t see Hippo team from your position but you can see the shell for a split second thanks to years of experience dealing with them. The shell streaks down the road and straight towards the Centurion’s rear. Darjeeling is already starting to turn but she isn’t faster than an eight-eight millimetre shell.

The match ends almost instantly, the judges declaring the flag tank immobilised, halting tankers in the process of blasting away at each other. You can feel the sheer disappointment in Frederick, who’s just sighted the KV-2, when Axel doesn’t load another shell.

“Another day, another win,” Max drawls. “We seem to be on a roll, undefeated since we arrived in Japan.”

“That we do,” you reply. You take a minute to rest against the cupola. “That, we, do.”

>Find Darjeeling/Katyusha and congratulate them, the usual.

With the match called, you decide it's time to do your usual post-match ritual. You climb down from Frederick’s turret and begin walking over to Darjeeling’s Centurion. As you do, Miho joins you.

“That was a good match, huh?” She asks, walking by your side.

“Sure was,” you nod. “Felt odd to fight a match without Werewolf though.”

“Well you did great,” she replies.

That wasn’t in question,” you grin back allowing yourself a moment to gloat. “Just had to go about things differently is all.”

By the time you reach Darjeeling, Katyusha has also arrived atop Nonna. When they notice you, they turn to face you.

“I spent a lot of money on that BT-8-24 for you to go and wreck it like that!” Katyusha snaps at you.

Darjeeling is far more civil. “I suppose this loss makes us insane.”

“Insane?” Miho asks from next to you as she cocks her head.

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results,” Darjeeling replies. “And it seems that everyone is challenging Ooarai over and over just to lose.”

“Rita Mae Brown!” A slightly dishevelled Orange Pekoe says helpfully as she climbs out of the battered Centurion.

The six of you talk for a little longer on the match. Before you part ways, Darjeeling brings up something interesting.

“I hope to see you two watching the match tomorrow,” she says as she departs.

“Match?” You and Miho ask simultaneously.

“You don’t know?” Darjeeling asks, genuinely confused. “The one for the End of Summer Festival tomorrow?”

“Neither of us are natives to Ibaraki,” Miho replies.

“Oh, well your Student Council President agreed to a Tankathlon match tomorrow with a promising up and coming team,” Darjeeling very helpfully informs you. “Perhaps that’s something you want to discuss with her.”

“Yes, I think it is,” Miho says. “Thank you, Darjeeling.”

>"Sorry about this Miho."

“Sorry about what?” She asks, confused. You don’t explain. Instead, you grab her by the shoulders, pull her close then carefully position her between yourself and the Rabbits as they pounce. Their momentum is interrupted by the introduction of Miho into the equation, and while they’re a pile on the floor you seek out Momo.

“Hello, Fritz. Congratulations on the win.” She says when you approach.

“Thanks, Momo. Do you know where the President is?” You ask hurriedly, keeping an eye on the rapidly untangling Rabbits behind you as well as the rather annoyed looking Nishizumi.

“She’s with the Mayor, they’re back that way,” Momo points towards a café nearby.

“Thanks, Momo.” With that, you leave.

You notice Miho following you as you walk towards said café. You slow down and let her catch up.

“That wasn’t very nice of you,” she frowns as the two of you continue walking. You try to reply but you arrive at the Café before you can.

When you enter, it’s busy but Anzu, Yuzu and the Mayor are easily visible.

“Commander Nishizumi! Commander Hermann! Over here!” Anzu shouts waving. The two of you make your way over to the small table where the three of them are sat.

“Commanders, this is Mayor Yukio, we’re talking about the Tankathlon match tomorrow!”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you both,” the mayor says inclining his head. “Thank you for bringing such success to our town and for the return of the Chi-Nu to the city. That win meant a lot to us back in the day.”

Miho freezes up, returning to the rather shy Miho you know, so you step in.

“The pleasure is ours Mayor Yukio,” you reply, nodding back.

“I’ll try my best,” Yuzu chips in, giving the old man a sweet smile then subtly winking at you. You take the reassurance for what it is and not so subtly haul Anzu from her seat and out of the café. As soon as you’re around the corner you turn your attention back to Anzu.

“So, a Tankathlon match in Ooarai?” Miho asks, almost as unimpressed as you. “Were you planning on telling us? Or were you going to let it be a surprise?”

“I was planning it to be…a surprise?” She hesitates a second when she sees that’s the wrong answer. “Look, you two were busy with preparing for the show match, I didn’t want to distract you.”

“Even though this is very literally our job description?” You ask.

“Exactly!” Anzu cheers. “I’m glad you understand.”

“That’s not what I meant at all Prez,” you sigh. “Are you going to give us the details at least?”

“Sure. To celebrate the End of Summer Festival the town council wants to do something different! Just leave it all to me!” She then winks and nudges you with her elbow. “The festival is one of the Vice-President’s favourites, ya know?”

“Emotional bribery won’t work on me,” you reply but you note the fact anyway.

“Moral of the story is, the school means a lot to the city and vice-versa so the Mayor and I have a vested interest in making this work!” Anzu is on a roll now. “So, leave it all to me, take the day off!”

“What? Come on, Fritz. Look I’m doing work, getting stuck in – isn’t that worth of at least one ‘thanks for taking a load off my shoulders Prez, I appreciate it’?”

“It is, I am thankful,” you reply. “But you need to keep us in the loop when it concerns us.”

“It’s not nice to be slung into another match when you’re not expecting it,” Miho frowns. “Can you promise to let us know in advance next time?”

“Sure, I will, I will,” Anzu sighs holding her hands up in surrender. “If that’s all, I have a meeting to get back to.”

“Well, I’ve said my piece,” you say, looking at Miho. “You have anything you want to add?”

“No, let’s just enjoy the day,” she sighs as the two of you begin walking towards the café with Anzu. “My sister is in town so I might spend the day with her.”

“That’s nice, her and Yuzu became friends in Germany,” you reply, stroking your chin. You suddenly think of something devilish. “In fact, we all slept together.”

“No way,” Miho replies immediately. “Really?”

“Really,” you leave out the fact that all you did was sleep as you approach the table. The Mayor is still seated there listening to Yuzu as she tells a story you manage to catch the end of.

“-threw up on me,” Yuzu finishes. The Mayor is roaring in laughter as she says it. As the three of you approach, the Mayor turns around to face you.

“Ah! President, Commanders! So good to see you again! The lovely Vice-President was just telling me a story!”

“I hope it was an interesting one,” Anzu replies as she takes a seat.

“It certainly was!” He replies still chuckling. As he does, an unspoken conversation goes on between Anzu and Yuzu. You have no idea what they’re saying but when they’re done Yuzu looks at you and jerks her head towards the door.

>Accept and follow Miho to see the fallout

You nod back and Yuzu’s smile widens. She then turns to the Mayor.

“I’ll be taking my leave now Mayor Yukio, but it was lovely to meet you.”

“Not as lovely as talking to you, dear. Now go have fun – and enjoy the Festival tomorrow!” He replies.

“I will,” Yuzu promises. She then disengages from the conversation and manoeuvres her way over to you.“Hi.”

“Hello to you too,” you reply, giving her a peck. She starts to deepen it but you pull back before she can. Yuzu looks slightly confused but you point towards Miho who’s just about to depart. “She’s going to see Maho, shall we go with her?”

“Sure!” Yuzu replies. She takes your hand and the two of you make your way out of the restaurant. You consider calling to her but decide against it and just enjoy the walk with your girlfriend.

It takes a few minutes of walking but eventually you reach the Black Forest camp. They’ve taken over a small park and even brought along a Panzer IV which seems to be open to the public.

You see Maho along with a few of her subordinates in one corner and with Miho approaching them you decide to do the same.

“Big Sister!” Miho almost shouts as she approaches.

“Miho,” Maho smiles back but it turns to a frown when she sees the expression on Miho’s face. “Is something wrong?”

“Did you sleep with Fritz and the Vice-President!?” She asks and accuses at the same time. Nearby you see Koume choke on a bottle of water and Erika looking at Maho with a betrayed look on her face. Maho just looks slightly confused.

“Yes, I did,” Maho confirms with a slight frown. “We had some drinks then we somehow all ended up in bed together. I don’t see the problem here.”

“Fritz,” Yuzu whines quietly. “What did you do?”

“I told the truth,” you reply innocently.

>Make yourself known and go talk to the Black Forest girls without clearing anything up

“Hey, guys!” You say loudly as you begin moving towards the group of Black Forest girls again. Koume instantly locks eyes with you then looks away blushing; Erika refuses to acknowledge your presence and Maho just looks slightly confused.

“Hello, Fritz. Yuzu.” She greets the two of you with a small smile. “A well fought match today.”

“Well, you know I aim to please Maho,” you reply with a grin. Instead of stopping just short of her as you usually would, you instead hug the girl when you greet her. You can tell Maho is even more confused by it, but she doesn’t question it and returns it.

Behind Maho, Erika is now glaring. You’re not sure if it’s at you, Maho, or Miho but it’s one of you. Koume is just scratching her head.

“I think I need to lie down,” Miho groans. Maho instantly disengages to go to her sister’s side.

“Are you unwell, Miho?” Maho asks as she gently guides Miho towards a bench, “Erika, fetch some water!”

That shocks her out of her trance. “Yes, Commander!”

“It’s just Maho now, Erika.” Koume reminds the girl as she runs off. Erika doesn’t acknowledge it but you pick it up.

“Just Maho?” You echo.

“Just Maho,” she confirms. “As of the end of the tournament I’ve stepped down to allow Erika to transition into the role since we’re heading to university soon.”

As soon as she says that, Yuzu turns to you, eyebrow raised. It then occurs to you that you never actually told Maho you had changed your mind about going to Niedersächsische.

>Inform Maho that you’re not actually going to Niedersächsische

“Maho, I’m… I’m not going to Niedersächsische,” you reply.

“Huh?” She replies intelligently. “You’re not?”

“I’m not,” you confirm. “I decided to stay in Japan, Shimofusadai offered me a tankery scholarship at the display and I’ve decided to take it.”

“I see,” she replies, dangerously neutral. “And your crew have decided to go with you?”

“Mhm, we talked about it a while back and they agreed it’d be the best path for us.”

Maho doesn’t say anything for a minute. Then, she nods and smiles up at you.

“Well good luck then, Fritz. I must admit, it’s… disappointing that we won’t be attending Niedersächsische together, but I understand,” she looks to Yuzu. “You must do what you must.”

“I’m glad you understand Maho.”

“You thought I would be more broken up about it?” The amusement has slipped back into her voice. “I’m not some swooning damsel.”

“No, you aren’t Maho,” you can’t help but laugh at that. “I suppose I thought too little of you.”

“See to it that you don’t,” she replies, a small smile on her face.

You chat with her until Erika arrives with the water for the still ill-looking Miho. When she does, you bid your goodbyes and immediately make a beeline for Koume.

>Stop Koume from spreading any rumours

You find her phone in hand.

“Koume, stop!” She freezes when you say that.

“Fritz,” she smiles as she spots you. “So nice of you to come around and see your dear childhood friend once in a while.”

“We text a lot,” you point out. “Far more than anyone that isn’t my crew or Yuzu.”

“And I love you for that,” she replies earnestly, “but you still manage to find time to zip around Japan.”

>”I promise I’ll make time. On God.”

Her thumb slips from the send button.

“You promise?” She asks.

“Promise,” you repeat. “I’m sorry, Koume. I’ve been a little busy recently.”

She eyes you suspiciously for a moment. Whatever she sees, she seems to like as it morphs into a small smile.

“Good,” she says. “You’re planning to stay in Japan after high school anyway, so we should have plenty of time.” With that, she puts the phone down and you let out a sigh of relief. While it wouldn’t be the end of the world if the story got out, you’d rather it didn’t get back to your mother. You don’t want to imagine her reaction.

Koume takes her leave shortly afterwards, leaving you alone with Yuzu. All she does is sigh.

“Why is everything more complicated when you’re involved?”

“I don’t know, but you’re the genius that tied herself to me,” you reply. She doesn’t look too impressed at that joke.

Thankfully, Yuzu is far more forgiving than Koume and soon forgets about your joke. After saying goodbye to Maho and Erika and retrieving a recently revived Miho, the three of you make your way back to Ooarai. It takes some convincing, but you manage to get across to Miho as you walk that it was in fact literal sleeping that occurred in Germany. You’re not sure if you entirely convinced her but you don’t think she’s going to tell anyone.

After dropping Miho back at her apartment, Yuzu also departs, citing some work the she must do to coordinate with the city council for tomorrow. That leaves you by yourself, with no plan for the rest of the evening.

>See what the History club is up to, they’re usually interesting

With nothing better to do, you decide to make your way towards the History Club’s shared house.

It’s a short journey, made faster by having made it before. When you arrive at the door you go to knock but you’re interrupted.

“Psst, Mackensen! Over here!” A familiar voice calls. You look towards the source but see nothing. “In the bush!”

You focus on the bush and sure enough, you see it wearing a Field Marshal’s hat. A second later it’s joined by a headband of the Sanada clan and Oryou.

“Get in!” The person you now know to be Erwin whispers again. You hesitate, joining people in bushes isn’t what you expected to be doing but she gets more insistent. “Hurry, Mackensen!”

Against your better judgement, you do it. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze, but the four of you manage to fit in the bush.

“So good of you to join us Mackensen,” Oryou says in greeting.

“What are you guys doing?” You ask, ignoring the greeting.

“Spying on Caesar,” Saemonza replies, throwing you for a loop.

“And why are you doing that?”

“Because we can,” Erwin shrugs. “And also, because Caesar is our friend and we don’t really know this person she’s cavorting with.”

“So, are you in or are you out?” Saemonza asks.

You take a second to think about it. You do have nothing better to do… “Sure, I’m in.”

Caesar leaves the house a second later and conversation immediately ends. You and the girls watch as she locks the door behind her and sets off. After a minute to let her gain a lead, the four of you set off after her.

You follow her off the schoolship and into Ooarai proper. As she reaches the main port building, she turns sharply towards another person.

“That’s her,” Erwin says, gesturing to the blonde you now recognise as Carpaccio.

“Carpaccio?” You ask. “Isn’t this a little bit redundant?”

“Yes,” the three of them admit in unison. At least they’re honest about it…

You follow them to a park where the four of you end up behind a tree. As you’re watching the two of them walk together, Erwin nudges you to get your attention.

“There’s someone in the bushes, following Caesar and Carpaccio. We should do something.”

>Reassure Erwin that it’s probably nothing

“It’s probably nothing, Erwin,” you reply. “It might just be your imagination.”

“Hmm,” Erwin doesn’t look entirely convinced as she considers your words. “I suppose so, what interest could anyone have in following those two around?”

“We’re following them around,” Oryou says, pointing out the irony.

“But we’re different!” Erwin argues back. “Caesar’s one of us! We have to keep an eye on her!”

“You might want to keep it down a bit!” Saemonza whisper-shouts. That manages to remind Erwin that it’s actually a stealth mission, so she quiets down and you resume your following of Caesar and Carpaccio.

“You know Carpaccio,” Caesar begins far louder than necessary. “It’s so nice to be out here by ourselves with no one following us.”

“I agree, Caesar,” Carpaccio replies. “It’s a good thing there’s no six people with such boring lives they have nothing better to do than follow us!”

“Six?” Oryou whispers, confused. “There’s only four of us though…”

“The bushes from earlier – see! I told you Mackensen!” Erwin exclaims, standing to point at you. It takes her a second to realise that by doing that she’s confirmed to Caesar that you’re all watching them.

“Oh, uh. Hi Caesar. Hello Carpaccio.” Erwin says, red as a tomato.

“Hi!” Carpaccio chirps seemingly uncaring of Erwin’s appearance. “Are the rest of your friends about too?”

The other history buffs take that as their cue and slowly rise from their hiding spots. After a second, you stand too.

“Mackensen?” Caesar sounds confused. “What are you doing here?”

As you say it, you look over to the bushes where you roughly believe Anchovy to be. Your explaination wouldn’t stand up to a thorough examination – you’d been following them since Caesar was on the schoolship but it should be enough right now.

Slowly, a pair of twintails rises from the bush along with Anchovy’s other vice-commander, Pepperoni.

“Uh, we saw you were being followed and decided to follow the followers?” Anchovy offers.

“So, you were both following each other?” Caesar replies flatly, obviously not buying it.

“Well it doesn’t matter now, does it Taka-chan?” Carpaccio asks with a smile. “They know we’re safe now so they can leave us to it, can’t you?”

“Fine, I suppose there’s no real cause for alarm,” Erwin sighs.

“Don’t worry! I’ll stop Anchovy from following you any longer!” Pepperoni exclaims.

“Hey!” Anchovy squawks indignantly. “This was your idea!”

You watch Caesar and Carpaccio slip away as the two argue, the rest of the history club also observing the spectacle. You decide not to mention it.

“So!” You interrupt loudly, drawing everyone’s attention. “I know a good Italian place not far from here.”

Pepperoni and Anchovy look at each other before turning back to you.

“Lead the way!” Anchovy declares. So, you do.

After a nice dinner, you split from the Anzio girls and make your way back to the schoolship with the history buffs. They also break away shortly afterwards to go home, leaving you to head back to your own apartment alone. Erika isn’t home, though that’s probably because Rosehip’s in town, so you think nothing of it.

Sunday 3rd September (Day 147)

When you wake up that morning, you once again have very little to do. All the tankery stuff is allegedly being handled by Anzu so there’s no stress there and despite your commitments all your schoolwork is also taken care of.

>Deal with Erika. Her time has come.

As you contemplate what to do, something comes to mind. Your sister was awfully ill-mannered during the show match and while neither Miho nor your guests said anything about it, it still leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Hence, you decide to do something about it. After a quick breakfast and petting of Otto, you head over to Erika’s apartment. It’s not something she uses very often nor somewhere you visit often but it’s not hard to find.

You knock on the door. There’s no response for a good two minutes before you knock again.

“Erika! It’s me!” You shout as you knock. Once again there’s no response. You idly wonder whether she might have gotten up early for once before you reject that hypothesis. Erika only gets up early for Tankery and to watch boxing matches with no exceptions. Maybe coming in the morning was a mistake.

“Erika!” You shout again. You’re about to leave when you finally get a very faint reply.

“It’s open!” Your sister shouts back. With her presence confirmed you enter the apartment.

It’s dark inside. You flip on a light and you’re greeted with a very plain apartment and an unused kitchen. Not surprising given how little time she spends here.

“Erika?” You call again as you approach the bedroom. “Are you in here?”

“Yeah…” comes the dejected reply. That’s very unErika-like and sets off an alarm bell or two.

“I’m coming in,” you announce as you push the door open. There you find her, sniffling on the bed.

Thoughts of telling her off are pushed to the back of your mind as you take a seat next to her. She immediately leans into you for comfort.

“What happened?” You ask as soon as she’s gotten herself comfortable. “Was it Rosehip? Do I have to hurt someone? “

“No!” She denies immediately. “Well, maybe…”

“Are you gonna tell me?” You ask. She says nothing so you try a different approach. “I could always tell you off? I came here to have a go at you for swearing over the radio.”

That gets an amused grunt out of her and a minute later she starts talking.

“Fritz… I think I like Rosehip.”

“Um, it’s pretty normal to like your friends?” You offer, putting on the dunce act to try redirect some of that emotion. It works.

“No, you idiot!” She rounds on you. “I think I’m gay, Fritz!”

“You really think they won’t care?” Erika asks.

“I mean, they were willing to joke about it weren’t they?” You remind her. “You know, by the docks?”

She takes a moment to think about it before she nods slowly. “Yeah, I suppose you’re right.”

“I know I’m right,” you counter. That gets a huff of annoyance from her, but she doesn’t disagree with you.

You sit there for a minute before she speaks again. “Could you ask Ruby if she’s free? I’d like to talk to her a little bit.”

“Sure thing,” you shoot a text to your gunner, and sure enough once you tell her the situation she agrees to be over right away. You sit there a little longer acting as a pillow for your little sister until Ruby arrives. When you finally hear the knock at the door you stand to get it.

“Just talk to Ruby about it and I’m sure it’ll be fine,” you say as you move to get the door.

“And if it isn’t?” Erika asks.

“Well, I can probably find a spare battery and some jumper cables.” You entirely deserve the pillows and book that fly out of the room after you but at least she’s now angry instead of sad. Small wins.

After leaving Erika to Ruby you make your way towards the disembarkation point where you agreed to meet Yuzu. She’s leaning on the railings, looking out towards town. As you get closer, she turns to see who it is then smiles when she sees you.

“You’re late,” she states as you reach her.

You wrap her in a hug as you explain. “Erika had an existential crisis that I had to deal with.”

“Is she alright?” Yuzu frowns. “If she isn’t feeling good we can skip the festival.”

“Nah, she’s tough as bricks, and Ruby’s helping her out. She just needs some time.” You reply. Yuzu accepts your explanation and her smile returns.

“Good. Now, do you have any idea what’s going on or shall I take the lead?”

>"How about you take the lead?"

You suggest. “It’s your hometown after all.”

“Sure!” Yuzu chirps, quite happy at your decision. She takes your hand and begins leading you into town. She sets a rather fast pace, fast enough in fact that you find yourself slightly out of breath.

She leads you towards what you recognise as Ooarai’s shopping district. As you do, you begin to recognise people from the crowd and not just girls from Ooarai.

“Say, are there more teenage girls around than normal?” You ask as you see someone that looks suspiciously like Assam.

“There sure are,” Yuzu confirms. “I know for a fact that the teams that fought in the show match have been put up around her somewhere by the council overnight. The other schools have probably sent some people over too.”

“I see.” When you arrive in the shopping district, the two of you set about trying as much food as you can. Acquiring the food turns out to be easy – the tournament to save Ooarai academy plus your other successes have turned the team, and you, into minor celebrities in Ooarai. Food is literally stacked in your arms and attempts to pay, if you can even identify who gave something to you, are quickly turned down.

“We seem to be very popular,” you state when you and Yuzu finally manage to escape those offering food as thanks. The two of you are sat on a bench, working your way through the festival food you’ve been given.

“Well, the story about the closure of the school ‘slipped out’ after the tournament,” Yuzu explains.

“Slipped out?”

“Anzu,” Yuzu answers. You make a sound of understanding and you’re not at all surprised she’d use something like that as an advantage. “It also got out that you and the history girls found the Chi-Nu so there’s that too.”

“Why does everyone love that tank so much?” You ask. “It might’ve won the unlimited class but it’s just a tank, right?”

“Because of what it represents,” she replies with a smile. “When Ooarai really was the best.”

“And we’re not the best now?” You ask, getting a laugh from her.

“We’ve won two tournaments, Fritz, back then we won twenty.”

“Fair enough,” your curiosity sated, the two of you go back to munching.

As you finish, you get a text from Darjeeling informing you she’s in the city and wants to discuss something with you. However, it’d probably be during Duck team’s match, and from her position you don’t think you’d see all of it.

“Darjeeling wants to talk to me,” you say to Yuzu as you eye the message. “Do you mind if we take a detour?”

“Did she give a location?” Yuzu asks. You spin your phone around and hand it to Yuzu who skims the message and checks the location.

“Oh yeah, I know where that is,” Yuzu nods. “Let’s get moving.”

You stand and brush crumbs off of yourself before giving your hand to Yuzu. She takes it with a smile and the two of you begin the short journey to Darjeeling.

After a short walk back to the shopping district Yuzu locates Darjeeling. Her and Orange Pekoe are seated there, with a cup of tea each. No surprises there.

“Ah, Fritz. Vice-President Koyama, so good to see you. Come, take a seat.” She gestures to some seats next to her and you and Yuzu oblige and take them.

“Would you like some tea? A scone perhaps?” She asks.

“No thank you, I’m good,” you decline. Yuzu also declines the goodies.

“So, what do you need from us, Darjeeling?” You ask.

She says nothing, instead taking a sip of her tea.

“Darjeeling?” You ask again.

“Life is always a matter of waiting for the right moment to act,” she replies. To which Orange Pekoe responds:

“Paulo Coelho.”

You’re about to hit her with your own quote when she continues.

“Like now for example.” There’s an explosion behind you. You jump to your feet and turn to look, and you see a tank you’ve never seen before zip past, followed by Duck team hot on their heels.

“That, Fritz, was Tankathlon. The reason I called you here.”

“I’m listening,” you say as you sit back down.

“I’m planning a tournament, Fritz; a tankathlon tournament, and I’d like to extend a formal invitation to Ooarai academy.”

“Well, you don’t have to worry about missing it – the main event begins on the 13th and I believe you return from America on the 12th correct?”

“How do you know that?” You ask.

“War is ninety percent information,” she replies. “We like to keep ourselves informed.”

“Napoleon Bonaparte,” Pekoe informs you helpfully.

“Well, then I suppose that answers that, and the rules?”

“For the first part there’s three - Each match has its own victory condition; both competing teams may call for a reinforcement in form of one vehicle from other teams and the losing team will fight under the command of the winner in the next round.”

“And the second round?” Yuzu asks for you.

Darjeeling just smiles. “That, is a secret. I ran it by your Captain and Duck team earlier and neither of them had any objections.”

“So why tell me?”

“Why not?” Darjeeling smiles. “An excuse to see a friend if you want or simply to help you prepare. Pick whichever you prefer.”

“Duck team and Commander Nishizumi both wanted your consent though,” Orange Pekoe informs you very helpful. You shoot a look at Darjeeling who hides slightly red cheeks behind taking a sip of tea.

>”I suppose I have no objections then.”

“Excellent,” Darjeeling smiles at your decision. “I’m glad you’re joining us. Miss Tsuruki has been eager to face Ooarai properly in combat for a while.”

“Miss Tsuruki?” You ask.

“She’s the one who was fighting Duck Team today,” Orange Pekoe informs you.

“Thank you, Pekoe. You know, you’ve been awfully helpful today.”

Pekoe giggles. “I find that to be a common state of affairs when I’m out with Miss Darjeeling.”

“Pekoe~” Darjeeling whines – actually whines at the teasing. It’s quite a departure from the Darjeeling you know so you take it back to more familiar grounds.

>"I noticed that you didn't field any rocket tanks from your team in our match. Was this a tactical decision, or did you deem them not worth acquiring after all?”

“Hmm?” Darjeeling refocuses on you. “Ah, well the truth is far more mundane. The fossils in charge of the alumni council are hesitant to invest in anything they don’t like.”

“And they don’t like rockets?”

“They despise them,” Pekoe says. “We’d hoped that yesterday would be a demonstration, but you didn’t field them and Katyusha’s tank performed poorly.”

“Oh, sorry?” You offer.

Darjeeling waves off your apology. “I’d be offended if you fought with anything less than your best effort, Fritz.”

“You know, you could always produce merchandise to raise money for it by yourselves,” Yuzu suggests. “It worked for us.”

“We have, that’s how we paid for the Centurion,” Pekoe nods.

“That’s a lot of money,” you muse. “Though I suppose St. Gloriana’s is rather infamous.”

“You suppose right, Fritz.” Darjeeling replies proudly.

You spend a little longer sitting and chatting with Darjeeling and Orange Pekoe. However, you came here for the festival, so as nice as it is you say your goodbyes and head out.

“Where to next?” You ask Yuzu as you leave.

“Well, we could either head to the beach or go for a walk up to the shrine,” Yuzu offers.

“You don’t want to decide?” You ask.

“I’ve done it all before,” she reminds you. “You decide.”

>Head to the Beach

“Lets go to the beach then,” you decide.

“How did I know you’d make that choice, hmm?” Yuzu giggles as she asks.

“Hey! I’m not that bad!” You protest. Yuzu doesn’t let up, teasing you the entire way to the beach. Of course, you don’t take that lying down so you promptly lift her up and over your shoulder. Even if it is admitting you lost the argument her ineffectually hitting your back is quite funny.

When you eventually make it to the beach, you put her back down.

“Fritz~” She whines. “You can’t just pick me up if you’re losing!”

“Sure, I can,” you reply. “The strong control the weak, that’s the way of the jungle.”

“We’re not in the jungle!” She pouts. Thankfully, Yuzu’s very forgiving and ten minutes in a changing room later she’s very happy with you.

“So why were you carrying around swimsuits and beach stuff?” You ask as you set up a towel for her.

“I told you, I expected this,” she reminds you. She hands you a bottle of lotion and you know exactly what to do. As you apply said lotion, and have fun doing it, you look around the beach. As well as the large amount of citizens of Ooarai you can also see a relatively high number of Garupans.

You can see Duck team in the distance having set up an impromptu beach volleyball court. Similarly, you can see some from other schools. Chief among them is a very familiar head of red hair absolutely tearing up the beach. You also see some unfamiliar ones – a blonde and a brunette with a large ribbon in their hear are relaxing by the red tank you say being chased by Duck team earlier.

>Stay and relax with Yuzu

You consider going and doing something. Joining Duck team playing volleyball is an awfully attractive proposition, especially since you’ve gotten better at it through playing with them. Your eyes then shift to Yuzu next to you who’s quite happily lounging in the sun. It’s not a hard choice and you soon find yourself on the towel next to her enjoying the sun as well.

You’re not sure exactly how long you stay there before you’re interrupted, but when you wake up again the sun is far closer to the horizon than you remember.

“Fritz Hermann,” your interruption states.

“That’s my name,” you reply. You look up and your eyes are greeted by a pair of bare legs. They trail up the girl until you reach her face which is blocked by her considerable assets.

“Can I help you?”

“I am Shizuka Tsuruki,” she states calmly, “and this is my steed, Rin Matsukaze.” You look over to where she’s pointing to another girl in a swimsuit.

“Hello,” Rin says as she waves, “sorry about Shizuka.”

“It’s fine,” you reply before turning back to Shizuka, “now do you need anything?”

“You and Miss Nishizumi are two of the few worthy opponents in the world of tanks,” she begins. “I wish to best you both in combat.”

“With that?” you ask gesturing to the light tank they brought with them.

“With that,” she confirms.

“Uh, well I don’t know what to tell you, but you might want to consider upgrading,” you reply. “It’s a little outdated.”

“That’s a minor issue,” Shizuka retorts. “More importantly I want to know about you and Miss Nishizumi.”

“Know your enemy?” You ask.

“Exactly,” Shizuka confirms. “So, what makes the two of you tick?”

>”The twenty or so voices in my head.”

You answer. They look very confused at that. They look at each other then seem to decide it’s a joke.

“Ha! You are an amusing one, Fritz Hermann. It’ll be a pleasure to fight you!” The one with the ribbon declares.

“Well,” you look over to their tank. “I’m sure it’ll be an experience alright.”

“An experience, definitely.” She agrees.

“As for Miho, you’d have to ask her. I could tell you some of her likes and dislikes but at the end of the day, only you know what makes you get up in the morning.”

“And sometimes even you don’t.” The blonde one, Rin chips in.

“Exactly,” you nod to the girl.

“Very well, thank you for your words, Fritz Hermann. We shall leave you to your business.” Shizuka says it with a nod of her head which you wave off.

“I didn’t really say much,” you reply. “And I look forward to it too.”

The two of them take their leave and head back towards their tank. Next to you, Yuzu yawns and stretches as she wakes up.

“Good morning, sleepyhead,” you say in greeting as she rubs the sleep out of her eyes.

“G’morning,” she manages to get out. “Did I miss anything?”

“A conversation with those two,” you gesture to the two of them getting into their paint-splattered tank.

“Anything interesting?”

“They want to fight me,” you state. Yuzu does a double-take at that and looks back to their tank.

“Well, they’re good but I don’t know if they’re that good,” she hums.

“My thoughts exactly.”

The two of you sit and chat for a little longer but as it starts to get colder and darker the two of you begin packing up. After changing, the two of you begin a leisurely walk along the embankment towards the schoolship.

“There’s fireworks tonight,” Yuzu states. “I’ll be helping the President for a little bit but afterward, I should be free.”

You get the not-so-hidden message. “I’ll pick you up when you’re done.” The promise earns you a smile.

“What are you going to do in the meantime?” She asks. “I’d hate to abandon you to being on your lonesome.”

>”I want to talk to the automotive club about Tankathlon.”

“Ever the industrious one, hmm?” Yuzu says as she cups your face with a hand. “Don’t work too hard, today is meant to be a rest day.”

“That’s pretty hypocritical coming from you,” you point out.

“I’d be the one to know,” she counters. “Besides, what’s the saying? Do as I say not as I do?”

“Hypocrite.”

She laughs as you say that and lets go of your face. “Don’t be late, Fritz!”

“I won’t!” You promise to her retreating figure.

As Yuzu leaves your field of view, you refocus on your objective regarding Tankathlon. With that in mind you march towards the warehouse. When you arrive, you’re unsurprised to find the four of them tinkering with their car.

“Cap’n on deck!” Hoshino lazily announces from her position draped across the Porsche Tiger when you enter.

“Hey, Commander. What can we do you for?” Nakajima asks as she slides herself out from under the tank.

“Tankathlon,” you start. As soon as you say it, the entire club starts listening. “Do we have anything that can compete?”

“We sure do!” Satoko answers for the club. “Duck team’s Type-89 works for it now that we’ve removed the rear skid and we can get the CV-33s back into fighting shape if you need us too.”

“Sure, go for it,” you nod. “That brings us up to three tanks?”

“Sure does,” Satoko nods. “I have a recommendation though.”

“Go ahead.”

“Me and the girls have seen a couple of matches and we reckon we should buy some anti-tank rifles for the CVs, help their firepower a little.” Satoko says.

“We could also buy a cheap light tank or two, there’s plenty on the market right now.” Hoshino chips in from her position atop the Porsche Tiger.

“Just keep in mind this all comes from the budget you’ll be using to outfit Werewolf with for the Unlimited class.” Nakajima reminds you.

“Sure, grab the anti-tank rifles then,” you say, “and have a look into those tanks for me if you can.”

“Sure thing!” Suzuki chirps. “We’ll have a couple ready for you to look at by tomorrow evening!”

“Perfect, sounds like we’re almost sorted.” You nod.

“Just one more thing, Commander.” Hoshino addresses you, still draped across the Tiger P. “Try not to be a twat if you get new tanks, okay? Tankathlon is meant to be a place where wealth doesn’t matter so it’d leave a bad taste in my mouth if we were to go in and outspend everyone.”

“Sticking up for the little guy?” You ask.

“We were the little guy not long ago,” she points out.

“Fair enough,” you reply.

“Wealth doesn’t really make all that big a difference though to be fair,” Nakajima points out. “Pravda lost with thirty tanks to less than half that.”

The room descends into a discussion of the Pravda-Bonple Tankathlon match. You’ve not seen it yourself but you’re able to follow along well enough to get the unorthodox tactics used in Tankathlon, something to remember for the future.

Eventually, you take your leave. Your discussion with the automotive club didn’t take too long so you’re able to head home to shower and change. Once you’re done you shoot a message to Yuzu who tells you she’s all done with the President.

You head out towards the bridge of the ship where the Student Council’s main office is. After a short walk and a few flights of stairs you reach the office. With a knock, and after receiving the usual ‘enter’ you head in. To your surprise when you enter, Anzu and Momo rise as well.

“Took you long enough,” Anzu complains.

“I wasn’t aware you were waiting for me.”

“Well we’re going to see fireworks, right?” She replies impatiently. “We couldn’t leave without you! Now stand by the sofa so I can get on your back!”

>”The more the merrier I guess.”

“Great!” Anzu chirps. She quickly leads you over to the nearby sofa then uses it to climb onto your back.

“You done this before?” You grunt as you observe the speed with which she mounts you.

“The President asks us to help her get around a lot,” Momo informs you.

You adjust Anzu’s position on your back. “Alright, ready.”

“Good, Kawashima! Move out!” She orders.

“Yes, President!” Momo responds with vigour leading you and Yuzu out the door.

While Anzu isn’t very heavy, it’s a relief when you’re able to put her down. The spot the council has picked is one on the beach, looking out towards the sea. You can see a barge some distance out, loaded with fireworks.

“Here’s a good spot!” Anzu declares, gesturing to a spot that looks exactly like any other. She hops off your back and onto the sand. After brushing herself down she takes a seat on a towel Yuzu put down. You take a seat next to her, with Yuzu on your other side and Momo next to the President. There’s some scattered conversation till the fireworks start.

After a couple of minutes of them going off, Anzu moves a little closer to you.

“Hey, Fritz?” She asks loud enough for you to hear but not for the other two to be able to.

“Yes, Prez?”

“Look after Koyama for me, in America.” She half asks-half orders. “We’ve never been that far apart before.”

“Did you think I’d do anything else?” You ask with an eyebrow raised. You then notice Anzu’s worried expression and sigh. “Don’t worry about it, Anzu. I’ll keep her safe.”

“Thanks, Fritz.” You don’t miss the way she wraps herself around your arm after that.

After the fireworks show, you escort the girls back to their apartments. By sheer coincidence (or not) the three of them live very close and when Yuzu says goodbye with a peck on your cheek Anzu laughs and copies her. The two of them look to Momo expectantly who just blushes and refuses to acknowledge you.

Monday 4th September (Day 148)

When you wake up that morning, Erika isn’t around. While unusual, you’re not too concerned given she’s likely sleeping at her apartment. You make enough breakfast for her anyway, and leave it wrapped in the fridge. You reckon that when you return in the evening it’ll be gone.

With that sorted, you pour a bowl of cat food for Otto for whenever he wakes up and leave for the warehouse.

After a short walk, you reach the Tankery Warehouse. Duck team are regaling whoever will listen on their match, even though most watched it, as Miho prepares the others for morning practice.

>Pick crews for the tanks for Tankathlon

You head towards the back of the warehouse where the few tanks you have in reserve are kept. It’s there you find the Automotive club working on the two CVs.

“Hey, Commander!” Nakajima greets you. “We found the CV and we’re giving them a look over.”

“Anzio gave us some good ones, wasn’t a thing wrong with them,” Hoshino adds. “All they needed was a change of oil and some minor part replacements.”

“Only thing left is the Anti-tank rifles, but we’ll fit them while you’re in America,” Suzuki informs you.

“So, the last thing is to sort out crews,” you finish.

“If I was you, I’d just open it to the rest of the team, let them apply for it.” Tsuchiya suggests. “You could also pick but eh?” She shrugs as she says the last bit.

“Alright!” Tsuchiya cheers, “Ooarai is heading to Tankathlon!”

“Right we are,” you reply. Tsuchiya holds a fist out which you promptly bump. You chat for a couple minutes longer before you’re forced to head back to Frederick the Great for morning practice.

>Visit Erika.

At lunch, you set about finding your sister. It’s not a task you’ve undertaken before but it’s not one that should be very difficult.

You pick up your phone and shoot a text her way. It takes a minute but eventually, she replies with a classroom number. You make your way through the school towards said classroom and when you open the door you see Erika and Ruby ignoring the chairs and instead sitting on the table.

“There are about twenty good chairs laying around here, you know?” You say as you take one. “Ruby, would you mind?”

She stands to leave but Erika reaches out to grab her arm. “She’s been helping me with… this.”

“Sure,” you shrug. “So, how’s it going?”

“Ruby and Hana have helped a lot,” she says far more quietly. “It’s still… weird.”

“And have you told Rosehip yet?”

“Nope!” She replies very quickly. “I want to wait till I’m sure that Rosehip…”

“Bats for the other team?” You suggest. Erika nods, blushes then buries her face in Ruby’s chest. “Well, baby steps I suppose.”

“Mhm, baby steps,” Erika mumbles into Ruby. You make eye contact with your gunner who just smiles.

“I’ll leave you to your gay therapy then,” you say as you stand. You feel both glare into your back as you say that. As you reach the door, you stop as you remember something.

>”Rosehip, looks cute in a swimsuit, you should’ve been there.”

“Fritz! Don’t tease her!” Ruby scolds you. “This is serious!”

Erika has other concerns, however. “Did you get a picture?”

“No,” you reply. You take a small amount of pleasure in the way her face drops at that. “Why not check her social media?”

Her face perks back up. “Good idea, Fritz! Looks like you can use your brain occasionally.

Your eyes narrow as she says that, then you remember something.

>”We’ll be talking about your conduct over the radio soon…”

Her eyes widen as you say that, then they narrow in challenge. “You and what army?”

“Mother,” you smirk. “All Sensha-Do radio communications are recorded; it wouldn’t be hard to send her a transcript of what you said.”

Erika holds the stare down for a second then sighs. “Aw, crud.”

“Crud indeed,” you reply before leaving.

>Look into the light tanks the automotive club found

When you finish with school for the day, you head to the warehouse. You make a beeline for the automotive club at the back of the warehouse.

“Sup, Commander,” Hoshino greets you from atop the Porsche Tiger. They’ve taken the engine out using the Bergepanther and you can see Nakajima behind her tinkering with it. “You here for the light tanks?”

“Sure am,” you nod. She leans down and grabs a clipboard which she promptly throws at you.

“We’ve picked a couple of good ones and noted them down,” she explains as you catch the clipboard.

You flick through the options and something catches your eye. “You noted down the weight?”

“Tankathlon is limited to ten tons,” she explains. “That limits how many modifications we can fit.”

“Of course the plus side,” Nakajima chimes in from the other side of the engine, “is that we can fit anything as long as we stay under the weight limit.”

“Anything?” You ask.

“Anything,” they say in unison.

“Of course, we’d have to find a supplier of Tankathlon goods first, and that isn’t easy.”

“A job for tomorrow then,” you reply.

“How about the Panzer II?” You ask. “We already have quite a few German tanks, so any one of those crews could probably convert with relative ease.”

“Sounds good to me, boss!” Hoshino replies from her position tinkering with the engine. “If you think it’ll work then go for it.”

As you make a mental note to pass the purchasing choice onto the President to make it official, an idea comes to mind. “Say, do you think we could fit rockets on this thing?”

At that question, Hoshino and Nakajima stop their work on the engine and have a quick discussion.

“Well, that depends, Commander,” Nakajima says. You motion for her to continue so she does. “It’d probably be within the weight limit, a Whizzbang weighs about two hundred kilograms and the rockets about twenty-eight each so you could have maybe sixteen?”

“I sense a ‘but’,” you sigh. Hoshino nods.

“The problem is, the Panzer II weighs a third of what the Sherman does and an engine that’s maybe a quarter as powerful.” She says

“We could do it, but we’d need to add outriggers to stop the tank tipping when you fire.” Nakajima sums up.

“You’d also move really slow, like heavy tank slow,” Hoshino finishes.

You take a second to think about it before you turn back to them. “Do you think it’s worth it?”

You’re the expert,” Hoshino shrugs. “We’re just tech support!” The two of them start laughing at that, some inside joke you’re not privy to likely.

You say.

“Figured you’d say that,” Hoshino nods. “We’ll have it fixed up by the time you return from America, you can count on that.”

“Alright, I’ll go let the Prez know then,” you say. The two wave goodbye then return to work on the engine.

Anzu and turtle team are a short walk away. When you arrive at the Hetzer, you see Anzu lounging atop the tank on a beach chair. Yuzu and Momo are assisting the other two members of the automotive club in servicing the tank’s tracks.

“Hard at work as always I see,” you observe drily as you climb up to where the President is sitting.

“I’m glad that someone’s noticed,” she replies cheekily, ignoring the sarcasm in your voice. “What do you have for me?”

“A Panzer II,” you reply. “For Tankathlon.”

“Tankathlon?” She asks. You hand her the clipboard with the information on it and she looks at it.

“Don’t we already have a couple of tanks that can be used? Those small ones that Anchovy gave us?” Anzu asks with a frown.

“We do,” you acknowledge. “But I thought it worth it to grab another one to help our chances. This plus some upgrades will go a long way towards winning.”

“Mmm, I don’t know, Fritz,” Anzu hums. “I think you should just use what we have, save our money for buying things for the Unlimited Class.”

“It’s my club that earnt the money,” you point out.

“And it’s me that controls it,” Anzu shrugs. “This Tankathlon stuff’s just for fun, right? No point of spending anything on it.”

Honestly don't think we should spend much on modifications just in case some sweet stuff comes up for the Ultimate Class that is somehow really expensive, but there are still valid arguments for getting the Panzer 2.

>Try to push her to at least let you buy the tank

>"We have plenty of money for modifications for the Ultimate class anyways, and Werewolf is already pretty tricked out, and operated by the best tank crew in the world."

“Best tank crew in the world,” she mutters. She rolls her eyes as she says it but you can see the smile on her face. You decide to try pushing it a little further.

>"Even though the main team can't crew it immediately, the Panzer 2 could serve as a recon tank in future Ooarai tankery matches when the school likely expands due to its recent notoriety. We currently don't have much in the way of recon tanks."

“Recon tanks, really?” She asks, eyebrow raised. “Isn’t that what Duck team is for? Or Cheetah team?”

“Well, yes,” you allow with a wince. “But a Panzer II would also be pretty effective.”

“This is all just an excuse to get the tank, right?” She asks again.

“Well, they are pretty fun,” you say. Anzu audibly sighs at that and massages her eyes. She raises her other arm and shoes you away.

“I’ll buy your tank, no modifications though, okay? Stuff in America is expensive.”

“Thank you, Anzu~” You move forward to engulf her in a hug, shit-eating grin on your face. She’s still covering her eyes, so she doesn’t notice till it's too late.

“Ah! Fritz!” She yelps as you grab her. That draws the attention of the rest of the Student Council nearby. Yuzu immediately starts recording and Momo is doing her best not to laugh. “Fritz…”

You let Anzu go when she stops complaining. She glares up at you but there’s no real heat behind it.

You just smile and walk away.

>Start packing and ask Yuzu for help
>Offer to help her pack as well

As practice finishes, you head back towards Turtle team. Anzu spots you immediately and places her back against the wall.

“It looks like the Prez wants a hug,” Yuzu observes. Anzu’s head snaps to Yuzu.

“Traitor!” She accuses pointing to her. “Kawashima! Get me out of here!” The Press Secretary loyally heads over to Anzu, who promptly mounts Momo's back and escapes.

“Looks like she escaped,” you observe.

“We’ll get her next time,” Yuzu smiles back. She offers you her hand. “Shall we?”

You take it. “Let’s.”

As the two of you head back towards your apartment, you broach the question of packing.

“Well, thanks for the offer but I’m already done,” she smirks. “I don’t mind helping you though.”

“Lifesaver,” you reply which gets a laugh out of her.

“Damn straight,” she lightly punches your arm. “Let’s get that packing done.”

The rest of your even is filled with the light scolding you receive from Yuzu. Apparently, laundry needs to be ‘put away properly’ instead of ‘thrown into the cupboard’ and packing is more than just ‘stuffing the clothes you need into the suitcase’. Your argument that it worked fine for you coming to Japan doesn’t fly well with her and by the end of the evening, she has you properly-versed in packing suitcases. Of course, she’s more than willing to reward the effort which makes up for the rest of the evening.

Tuesday 5th September (Day 148)

>Practice shell-skipping again

That morning after a nice Yuzu-cooked breakfast, the two of you head to the tankery warehouse. You part ways at the entrance and you head towards Frederick the Great where your crew are already slowly going through the start-up checklist. When they’re done, you rumble out onto the range. To your surprise, Anglerfish is following you.

“Anyone know why Anglerfish is on our tail?” You ask your crew over the intercom. You throw a wave to Miho behind you as you do who returns it.

“Hana bets she could get shell-skipping down quicker than I can,” Ruby explains. “She won’t be able to, obviously, but it’s cute to see her try.”

“Obviously,” Max mimics from his position. As the two descend into a playful argument, again, with Leo egging them on you find yourself thankful for the presence of Axel, your only sane crewmate.

Practice itself goes well. Ruby’s improving at the very least, to the point she reckons with a few hours of practice on Werewolf she should be ready to go for the unlimited class. Hana also does well, you’re not surprised given how talented she is and you reckon in a few days she’ll have the skill down too.

>Hold a court-martial for Erika

As lunch approaches, you find yourself pacing in the lounge as you prepare to discipline her. It’s not something you’ve done in a long time. Long enough that you consider calling in help.

How it affects the teams reputation. No one likes a potty mouth, and you wouldn't want to hurt your teammates image. If we constantly cuss on the radio, the others schools won't think we'll of us, let alone our fans.

If it doesn't seem like it's going to take, lean in and whisper "What would Rosehip think? She looks up to Darjeeling and probably doesn't like crude language".

>Ask Miho. Erika likes Miho so she might listen

You decide to ask Miho. You know the two are friends so Erika’s more likely to be receptive if Miho’s there.

You pull out your phone to call Miho. It rings for a few seconds before she picks up.

“Hey, Fritz. What’s up?” She asks as she answers.

“Hi, Miho,” you reply. “I was wondering if you could tell help me with something?”

“Sure! What do you need help with?”

You explain your predicament – that you’ve not had to tell Erika off for a while and that you’d appreciate some backup. She laughs when you say that but agrees to help.

With Miho’s help sorted, you text Erika to meet you in the lounge. She complains, obviously, but eventually complies. You hear a knock on the door.

“Hey, Fritz,” Miho greets you as she walks in. She takes a seat on the other end of the sofa you’re seated on. “How are we going to do this?”

“We’ll just explain how it affects the school’s reputation and ask her to tone it down, does that sound good?” You reply.

“Well, I’ve never told off a younger sibling before, but it sounds reasonable,” she replies with a small smile. Then, Erika enters.

“Yo,” she says casually as she enters. She drapes herself over a nearby armchair. “Waddaya need?”

“You need to stop swearing over the radio,” you start. Erika immediately tenses but you rush to continue before she can react. “This isn’t a telling off, just think about how it’ll affect the team’s reputation. No one likes a potty mouth, and you wouldn't want to hurt your teammates image, would you?”

“All communications are recorded by the Federation,” Miho chips in. “They aren’t really used unless there’s an incident but better safe than sorry, right?”

“Yeah, what might our fans or other schools think of us?” You ask. Erika doesn’t say anything for a full minute before she sighs and nods.

“I’ll… rein it in,” she promises. “Is that good enough for you two?”

“Well, Miho,” you turn to the girl next to you, “I’d be satisfied with that.”

“And so, would I,” Miho smiles.

>Investigate the Unlimited class a little more
Sorry, I get Ultimate and Unlimited mixed up sometimes

That evening at practice you decide instead of any practical work you’ll have a deeper look into the Unlimited Class. You leave Axel in charge of your crew and head back to the lounge so you can focus on your researching.

The lounge at the back of the warehouse is in use, members of the tankery club are streaming in and out as you take a seat at one of the tables. To your immense satisfaction you can see some interest over the announcement posted on the notice board. Hopefully, Miho should be able to sort out the team assignments while you’re away.

You turn away from the notice board and and turn your attention to your research. Most of the information is in English, understandable given it’s based in America, but annoying, nonetheless. Thankfully, your amateur English skills combined with your affinity for research means you’re able to find out a bit more about the Unlimited Class.

Aside from there being a hundred tanks competing on a massive field you also find out exactly what is illegal. All tanks must use rolled homogenous armour which should thankfully limit you from having to face anything post-1950s. Missiles are also banned for safety reasons which removes the possibility of being sniped and being unable to counter it given you don’t have any active defence systems.

As your research takes you deeper, you find yourself running out of time. However, you think you have time to look for just a little longer. You decide to focus your research on a couple of things.

Pick 2
>The identity of the last winner
>The strongest tanks you’ll be facing this year
>A map of the field

>The strongest tanks you’ll be facing this year
>A map of the field

You begin your research by looking into the competition. Given your lack of time, you decide to focus on the strongest opponents that you’ll be facing. Scanning through the list of competitors a couple of tanks catch your eye.

Alongside the Centurions and Pershings you’ve faced and beaten before there are also early Cold War tanks mixed in. By the time you’re done scanning the list, you have a list of about five ‘big threats’: A M46 Patton, a Centurion 7/1, a T49, a T-10, and a Waffentrager auf Pz. IV.

The last one strikes you as a little odd, surely it shouldn’t be legal given the open fighting compartment? Further examination reveals they were allowed to fit a carbon enclosure that will keep them safe even if it offers no protection for the tank.

You next look for a map of the field. That’s far easier to find. The first thing that strikes you is the massive mountain range splitting the field in two. Aside from that, there’s a rather large town in the middle and aside from that, it’s desert. Wide-open desert that’s going to lead to lots of long-range engagements.

You take a glance at your watch and see it’s close to the end of practice. You save a copy of the map for later reference, close your laptop and head out.

>Make sure your crew are ready to go

That evening when you head back to the apartment complex you head towards the shared living room. Your entire crew plus Erika and Otto are present.

“How’s packing going?” you ask as you walk in. Axel gives you a thumbs up and you trust him enough not to follow that up any further. It’s the other three who are a bigger concern.

“Ruby, Max, Leo,” you say each of their names as you look them in the eye. “How is packing going?”

“Hana forced me to do it days ago,” Ruby grumbles as she turns back to her weapons magazine. You look at Max and Leo.

“It’s going?” Max offers on his and Leo’s behalf. You can feel a headache coming on.

“How is packing going?” you repeat.

“It’s fine, we still have time to begin,” Leo begins making excuses letting you know neither of them have started.

>Threaten to call Saori to have a go at them

You say nothing to them. Instead, you pull out your phone.

“What ya’ gon’ do with that?” Max asks. “Ring me Ma?” Both him and Leo laugh at that, reveling in the bad joke.

You dial a number, put it on speaker, and let it ring. A few seconds later, the person you’re calling picks up.

“Hi, Fritz!” Saori chirps on the other end. “How are you?”

You let her hang for a second while staring at Max and Leo. The two quickly get the message and begin scrambling up the stairs towards their rooms. It seems Saori has them just as whipped as you thought.

“Hi Saori,” you reply as they storm up the stairs. “Do you have the recipe for that stew you made at the beginning of the year?”

“I sure do!” She exclaims. She starts walking you through the steps to make it as you ignore Erika howling’s laughter at what just happened.

A few hours later, you head to bed. Erika doesn’t join you – as she hasn’t for the past few days. While it’s good that she isn’t since she’s fifteen, it still leaves you feeling a little sad that she’s apparently grown out of it. Regardless, you have Otto who isn’t going anywhere fast.

Wednesday 6th September (Day 149)

That morning, you sleep in. Today’s the day of your flight – meaning you don’t have school. Despite that, you still make sure to get up in time to visit the tankery club at morning practice before you, your crew and Yuzu must leave.

After gathering the rest of your crew, the five of you head to the warehouse. As soon as you’re through the door you get ambushed.

“Commander!” Azusa cries as she slams into you. You wrap an arm around her to steady yourself and brace for the other Rabbits but thankfully, they don’t come. “I’m gonna miss you, Commander!”

You lightly scold her. “I’ll be gone for less than a week, Azusa.” But you don’t let go.

“We made you something, Commander!” Aya says as she approaches. Azusa lets go and you look up to the Rabbits who are holding a flag. It’s the Ooarai symbol on a striped background.

“We made it ourselves!” Karina announces proudly.

“I can see that,” you say as you examine it. It’s not perfect – the stitching is imperfect in places and it’s not exactly rectangular, but you can see the pride in their eyes as well as something else... expectancy.

>”I’ll fly it with pride.”

Your promise seems to surprise them a little bit.

“Really?” Ayumi asks. “Do you mean that?”

“Sure, I do,” you reply. “It looks great, what better way to show everyone who I am.”

The Rabbits start cheering at that, talking between them about how excited they are.

“Oh no,” you say, examining the flag more closely. “There’s a mistake with the stitching here!”

“A mistake!?” Aya cries. “No way! Show us!”

“It’s too late to fix it now!” Yuuki cries.

“Commander, quickly give it to us so we can fix it!” Azusa orders.

“I don’t think that’s possible,” you sigh. “Look here.”

You lower the flag to them and reveal…a finger circle. The six of them look at the finger circle and take a second to process it.

“Saori-Senpai!” They all scream. “Save us! Commander Hermann is going to beat us!”

They take off in the direction of Anglerfish team and you’re treated to Saori being dogpiled by all six of the Rabbits who promptly try to rearrange it so they’re underneath her. A beautiful sight indeed.

After a few minutes of coaxing and promising not to hit them the Rabbits re-emerge from behind Saori. You get no small number of pouty glares, but they soon forget their animosity as they get caught up in the general mood of the farwell party.

There are a lot of hugs and teary goodbyes. You try to explain to Saori in particular that they’ll be back in less than a week but it doesn’t stop the sobbing goodbye she gives to Max and Leo. As you’re observing the drama, Anzu appears next to you.

“Quite the show, huh?” She asks, glancing towards Saori.

“Max and Leo won’t be hearing the end of this for a while,” you reply getting a snort from Anzu.

“I wouldn’t think so,” she replies, still smiling. “Get out there and win, Fritz.”

“That’s what I was pl-“

“It’s a million dollars on the line,” Anzu interrupts you. “No pressure but win.”

“Ever the businesswoman, huh?” You ask rhetorically. “I’ll win, though that money’s going to my club.”

“Ehhhh, suuure.” Anzu replies. The way Anzu drags it out leaves you very unconvinced it’ll all go to tankery.

You’re about to force a promise out of her but you’re interrupted by Yuzu.

“Fritz! The taxi’s here!” She shouts. You settle for shooting Anzu a glare then giving her a hug before you part.

AS you approach the Taxi, your crew and Yuzu slowly assembles in front of it.

“You ready, Fritz?” Yuzu asks, hefting her bag.

“I sure am,” you reply, taking it from her. You turn to your crew. “Werewolf team, let’s roll.”
