Sometime in the not soo distant future, wars are no longer fought by armies alone. Outcomes are not decided by blood and bullets, but money and information. Increasingly, countries are outsourcing their armed forces to Private Military Companies. Nations have found it to be increasingly convenient and cost-efficient to contract PMCs to indirectly fight for them in foreign wars for their nation's own interests, all while being able to get away with no international backlash or consequence.

As a result of the plausible deniability of PMCs, numerous security companies have sprung up all across the world in recent years, competing for Government Defense contracts so they can be deployed to fight in various warzones for profit.

Welcome to Black Command, a Tactical Overhead Commander Experience and Management Strategy game inspired by the CAPCOM Mobile game that puts you behind the desk of a Commander running your very own Private Military Corporation. As Commander and CEO, you are responsible for managing your company and acting as the birds-eye view for your Operators, reading the situation from above and making sense of the chaos.

Your Commander's Name Is...
>>
>Brendan Garrett
Nationality: United States
Company: Red Diamond Securities
Company Balance: $334,000

Former US Special Operations Commander, Brendan used to work as a military advisor in the development and procurement of advanced weapon systems for DARPA. After discovering that the salary of PMC CEOs was higher than his paygrade, Brendan retired from service and formed his own PMC headquartered across the river from the Pentagon. Unfortunately for Brendan, despite his background experience in business and direct connection to the Department of Defense contracting, his company has been experiencing difficulty in penetrating the market due to the amount of competition by larger PMCs.

Starting Traits and Conditions:

Competent Businessman Brendan learned how to manage a successful business through a government-funded side education program for military veterans, being able to work in managing the operations of any department if it requires direct control.
Well-Connected Network Years of meeting with professionals from the world's biggest military-industrial complex has provided Brendan with the necessary knowledge on where to acquire the latest military hardware of the industry.
Competent Assistant Brendan works with Martin, a long-time friend and military colleague. Martin is the Chief Operations Executive and is always on top of things when you give him a Project to focus on.
Competitive Market The United States Department of Defense is the world's biggest sponsorer of war beyond its borders. As such, hundreds of PMCs are contracted every year to secure Lady Liberty's interests in war-torn countries. This has unfortunately led to smaller companies such as Brendan's not being able to compete with the vast resources employed by larger PMCs.
Special Firearms License Black Diamond can procure military-grade firearms from hundreds of firearm vendors.

After finally defeating the remnants of ISIS in Syria, Abu recruited a team from the Popular Mobilization Forces to form their own Private Security group, and almost overnight ran Iraq's #1 Most Successful Private Security group. With the past few months' rapid success, Abu is now looking to expand his company's services beyond the borders of Iraq and Syria.

Starting Traits:
Positive Fame Effects Well-known throughout the middle east as a hero in the fight against ISIS, you can recruit some of the Middle East's best fighters to join your side. Increases chances of finding Hero units.

>Vladislav Alexandrovich (Bлaдиcлaв Aлeкcaндpoвич)
Nationality: Russian
Company: BEAR Group
Company Balance: $277,000
Former Black Market Arms Dealer, Vlad ran a successful business for several years, selling ammunition and firearms to various organizations all across the world. Throughout his career, he has earned the reputation as the 'Lord of War' for indirectly sponsoring non-state actors. Sometime in 2013, he disappeared without a trace after discovering that an arms deal that he made resulted in chemical weapons being used against civilian targets in Syria.
It has been nearly a decade since his disappearance, and Vlad has once again emerged from the shadows. This time, he has been contacted by Kiril Orlov, a former ex-military buddy of his and executive at BEAR (Battle Encounter Assault Regiment) Group. Vlad has recently been voted as the new CEO after a scandal resulted in BEAR being forced to make an aggressive corporate restructuring.

Starting Traits:

Arms Production Concern Just outside of Sevastopol near Vlad's Dacha is a secret Arms manufacturing plant that he had built a while back. It has long been gathering dust these past few years but in its heyday used to produce nearly 117,000 unlicensed rifles per month.
Competent Businessman Vlad is no stranger to running a successful business, having built his own empire from the blood and sweat of his mistakes.
Well-Connected Black Market Network Years of making connections with black market contacts have made Vlad well-known in the circles of Black Market Arms dealing.
Self-Estranged Past experiences in selling weapons of war have seemed to emotionally affect Vlad in a way that has made him morally wounded and self-alienated.
Corruption Scandal BEAR has recently been forced to deal with a major corruption scandal involving a multinational company and the Russian Government. The State Duma hopes that a change in leadership will result in better management of the company.

>Xiang Jin (翔斤)
Nationality: Chinese
Company: Army of Dark (Cover name: Xi Security)
Company Balance: $323,323
Former Minister of State Security of the People's Republic of China, Xiang secretly formed a hacker group known as the Army of Dark in the early 2000s in response to a state project to expand cyber operations capabilities. When it was discovered that Xiang was conspiring against the state, he was arrested and imprisoned for life. However, in 2006 he and every member of the Army of Dark escaped from a high-security prison. Since then, he has been raising a criminal empire from the shadows, recently forming the group's first Military-for-hire service.

Starting Traits:
Cyber Operations Department
The Dark Army has several full-time hackers who work on hacking projects. It has been the primary financer of the Army of Dark and is often working on heist projects.
Psychotic Time Obsession Xiang is psychotically obsessed with managing time. It has become an existential norm for him to wear a watch that beeps whenever a minute has passed, living an extremely monochronic life.
Impaired Legal Networking The Army of Dark, while providing hacking services to various countries and non-state actors for years, has virtually no legitimate contracting network of its own, relying only on secure channels to obtain potential clients.
Illegal Organization The Army of Dark has operated as a criminal organization for years, with it being directly involved in the trafficking of narcotics, firearms, and even people. As such, it is always at risk of its members getting caught or ratting you out.

>Bruce Sunderland
Nationality: British
Company: Pegasus International Limited.
Company Balance: $142,900
In 2004 Bruce Sunderland left his prestigious position as an Officer of the SAS to pursue his own Private Military venture, Pegasus Special Services. Soon after, he was able to land several successful full-time military contracts to Afghanistan and Iraq. However, in the late 2010s, Pegasus suffered a decline in international deployments and was on the verge of bankruptcy when an angel investor by the name of Arthur Harvey purchased the company and became chairman. Harvey was able to quickly recover the company by leasing the company's An-74T cargo plane it acquired several years ago to civilian services. Recently, Harvey was looking to cut the Private Military division and instead focus on civil freight services, much to the disagreement of Bruce.

Starting Traits:
Logistics Division Pegasus owns an Antanov An-74T Cargo Freighter used for transporting supplies, equipment, and personnel. It is also equipped to paradrop if the situation requires. Logistics Department generates income whenever not in use.
New Chairman Harvey is the company's new CEO, and he makes the final decision on all matters. Recently he has been looking to downsize the Private Military division in favour of expanding the Pegasus Air Service division. You will have to convince him to not cut your team again.
Experienced Operators Although Pegasus had to lay off many of the Operators it used to have, they are still left with members whose combat history is well-proven.
Invalidated Firearms License The UK has just invalidated every UK-based PMC's ability to possess military firearms. There is an ongoing class-action lawsuit that will challenge the legislative decision.

The Votes are In!

>Vladislav Alexandrovich
It was a night of fire and bombs. In the distance, you can see what was once the hospital fully engulfed in flames. An angel of fire emerges from the ash being spread in the sky, a sight never before witnessed by the city of Aleppo in its years of conflict. It was clear that every last man, woman, and child in that hospital was dead, and they were dead because you gave them the means to do it. They were dead because you sold those bombs to them. Their blood is on your hands-

"Vladislav Alexandrovich?" You hear the front secretary say your name. Your attention is turned to the front desk, where a young blonde-haired woman looks at you.
"Kiril will see you now. Please enter the room to your right" you hear her say. You stand up from your waiting room seat and proceed into an empty conference room with a single familiar face standing next to the table. Its Kiril.

"Slava! It's good to see you again!" he says welcomely with open arms.

"It is good to see you too Kiril. How is the wife?" You reply back. "I've Married Masha since I last saw you, I have 2 daughters and a boy."

"Congratulations! I'm happy for you!"

"Thank you. You must be wondering why I brought you here Slava?"

"I do. To be frank, I didn't think you would ever find me."

"Well, I know my ways how to find you" he chuckles. "I brought you here to Moscow because I have an offer for you." He picks up a newspaper and throws it across, letting it slide towards your attention.

"BEAR to Reorganize Corporate Executive after Wagner Probe."
Oh yeah. The Wagner scandal. You've heard about it while on vacation in Cambodia. It's no surprise that much of BEAR's leadership are former Wagner Group War Criminals. Everyone knew that their past would eventually catch up with them in the post-Putin era. Bastards did all kinds of dirty things, from employing Child Soldiers in West Africa to calling artillery on towns full of civilians.

"So what does this have to do with me?" You look curiously at Kiril.

"We've been discussing the options for how we're going to go about with the corporate restructuring and we've been looking for the new face to represent BEAR. I decided to vote you as our new CEO, and everyone on the chair thought it was a good idea."

"Kiril, I'm past the days of arms dealing. I don't want to deal with war anymore."

"Well, if you don't take this position the FSB is planning to arrest you."

"I'm sorry?" You reply, coldly looking at Kiril with his blank expression.

"Ever since the new president arrived, the State Duma has been quietly arresting all the oligarchs. They've been going after everyone, the Oil Czars, the Property Conglomerates, Arms Dealers, you name it. It's all part of a New Russia, or so they say."

"I get that, but what is it about this job that soo important?"

"Well, look at it this way: If you accept the position of CEO, the FSB is going to reconsider you because they have some things they want themselves from BEAR."

"And what?" you ask disbelieved. Fuck. How did they find out about your past?

"They know you spent half your life in arms dealing, and they want to use you and our company to expand Russia's influence in the world. With you in power, the Federal Security Bureau will hold off any further investigation attempt as long as you do what they say."

"And what do they want me to do?"

"That I don't know. Just consider their requests to be the highest priority and you will get through fine."

"Okay, okay. I'm in."

"Splendid. How about a tour of the office?"
>>
Kiril leads you out of the conference room. Outside you see 3 Police Officers in uniform standing outside. Shit. They were going to arrest you right there and then if you didn't accept the position.

"This way." Kiril walks you into the main office complex, a typical modern office setting busy with employees. As you and Kiril walk through the crimson red hallway you see two people wearing camouflaged EMR uniforms move past you, they look back at you and simply carry on.

"Those are our Operators, you'll get to meet them later," Kiril says.

The two of you enter a medium-sized office room indistinguishable from any office setting ever. "This floor is dedicated to our Company Operations department. Here they are in charge of networking contracts with various clients overseas and are the ones who keep our Operators busy. Our clients can range from Private to Governments but aren't always limited to just those two," hinting at the occasional illegal clients.

"This here will be your office." Kiril opens the door to the view of the Moscow financial district skyline behind a beautiful mahogany office table. The evening sunlight reflects off the glass of the towering skyscrapers into the office giving it a soft glow.

"You'll get back to this later," Kiril says, motioning you to continue following.

Kiril walks towards a room straight across your office and knocks on the door. "This is where the exciting part is." The door unlocks and you see an impressive array of display monitors in a dimly-lit Command and Control room.

"How's it going, Yuri?" Kiril says quietly to a man in uniform sitting at the control desk.

"I'm alright. Sokol should be airdropping soon."

He suddenly turns from his desk to face you: "Oh! Is this our new Commander?"

"Sure is Yuri. Slava, meet Yuri, your Secondary Commander."

"Hello," you say humbly, shaking his hand. "Hello Commander," Yuri replies attentively.

"You said Sokol is near the Area of Operations? What's their eta?"

"14 minutes to drop, GPS is tracking their aircraft past the Sudanese border."

"Excellent. You might want to demonstrate to the Executive Commander the nature of how our Operations are run here."

You stand cross-arms looking at several different monitors. The control room looks like something out of a Sci-Fi Film. All around you are numerous touchpad and monitor interfaces, seamlessly connected to each other.

"This here is ORBAT, the latest Command and Control center available on the market," Kiril begins. "Every Military organization uses ORBAT or a system similar to it to command their armies. The datalink capabilities on this allow it to provide a live feed of Operators using a helmet module from another part of the planet. Operators can seamlessly ID targets and a Commander can see the battlefield from a birds-eye view like no other, and advise their subordinates on plans of action. It is the ultimate new development of military technology. Other than of course, advanced drones."

"They're para dropping in. We'll expect them to make contact with us in 5 minutes." Yuri says. A pop-up window opens on another monitor, detailing the mission objectives and current Situation Report (SITREP).

SITREP: The town of Abyei has long been the center point of a violent territorial dispute between the Republics of Sudan and South Sudan for almost two decades. Now, with Sudan attempting to control the flow of water from the White Nile, South Sudan is left with no choice but to fight the North for its own survival. In the town of Abyei, the North Sudanese Army (SAF) has occupied the village and captured several pieces of UN property. The Sudan People's Liberation Armed Forces (SPLAF) has hired us to rescue a High-ranking Commander, who is held somewhere in the town, and take him to an extraction point located East of the village. We have limited provided intelligence on where he might be, but we ruled that he may be in one of three locations on the map.

OBJECTIVES: Locate the Commander in one of three possible locations. Extract him to the Rally Point.

BONUS OBJECTIVES: Find and eliminate the Enemy Field General in the area. Payout: +$15,000.

"It's showtime." Yuri states.

"Sokol Red, what's your situation? Over." You say. You are now in the perspective of Yuri,

<<We managed to drop in and travel to the AO without issue. We've spotted three contacts across the river from our location. We're awaiting your order Zeus.>>

"Copy, standby for the waypoint marker."

From the information your analyst gave you, you determine that the VIP must be in one of 3 locations: At point Alpha, there is a house that appears to have higher than normal enemy activity. Preliminary reconnaissance suspects this is a facility used for housing enemy munitions, but it could also contain the VIP. Near the center of the town marked as Bravo, there is an occupied house with little protection but has occasional patrols in the surrounding streets. The property looks lightly guarded. Charlie point is the enemy's primary Base of Operations. In the opening week of the war, the Sudanese Army captured the UN Base there and acquired several mechanized units. There is some heavy hardware there, but it should be possible for your team to slip past without anyone noticing. Intelligence suggests that there may be an enemy mortar installation nearby. Capturing that could quickly grant you the firepower you need to take on the base. In any case, you will have to use stealth to your advantage so as not to alert any nearby QRF Detachments.

There also seems to be a compound South-East not far from the base, guarded by a single technical and two squads of infantry. It looks to be an important area, but we have ruled that it is not likely to contain the VIP.

Your mission could last until dawn, but it is unlikely it would take that long. You have enough time to check all of the possible locations for the VIP as long as you don't alert significant enemy attention towards your Operators. If the enemy discovers you are attempting to extract the VIP, you will have about an hour to exfiltrate the area before an enemy QRF team detaches from the area to search for you. The mission will fail if 3 of your Operators die or if you fail to extract the VIP. In addition to this, the target of opportunity can escape from the area if there is enough heat from your activities.

Sokol successfully takes out both hostiles with ease, dropping like flies. Sokol has now reached the wall of the compound. This is it, time to look for the VIP.

<<Zeus, we're ready to sweep the compound on your order. How copy?>>

Sokol can approach this three different ways: It can either split into two maneuver teams, with each entering the compound from different directions to quickly overwhelm the garrison with a chance to catch the enemy completely off-guard, or it can enter in as one unit with each element providing multiple arcs of coverage. Alternatively, it can also sweep the surrounding area, but if they don't do it fast enough the garrison will have enough time to react.

Tolya, Yegor, and Alek take point at the North entrance by the compound, while Yakov and Igor position themselves South. The two groups set their guns to fully automatic, and then Tolya calls the breach...
>>
>>4536534
Tolya bursts open the metal gate to the North of the compound, and right in front of him are two hostiles; they quickly turn their attention towards Tolya and get the gun pointed at him first, but not before the quick action of Yegor and Alek put two bullets into the heads of the two enemy guards. In the South, Igor and Yakov make quick work of the unsuspecting guards, who didn't realize what was going even as two 7.62x39mm bullets impacted both their skulls. The whole breach went off without a single enemy soldier firing back.

As Sokol clears each room in the property, they force enemy after enemy to surrender. They then reach a stairwell and an unarmed officer appears. He and two other soldiers quickly surrender, with Sokol ordering the Officer and the surviving enemy soldiers to 'GET DOWN ON THE GROUND' in Accented English. As Sokol secures the rest of the compound, they found no sign of the VIP, however, they have found some interesting intel.

<<Zeus, this is Sokol. VIP is in another castle. We found a detailed military map with drawings of frontline units and a long-range portable radio. We captured several hostiles with one who appears to be an Officer. What should we do Zeus?>>

<!> New Enemy Locations Revealed on Map <!>

Damn, the VIP is not here. Sokol will have to find a new lead. Based on what they have captured, there are several ways how they can take advantage of the situation. If any of the Sudanese soldiers speak English, they might be able to persuade them to reveal the location of the VIP, or even the HVT.

Sokol lines up all the captured enemy soldiers and begins questioning who can speak English. Unfortunately, none of them do, however, the officer speaks in broken English. Upon showing the face of the VIP, the Officer says he recognizes the man and that he had seen him earlier today and a dozen other South Sudanese soldiers at the UN Base. Looks like we got a new lead.

Tolya asks you for the Arabic translation of "Where is he?" and a number of other phrases in Arabic so as to make the question clear for the Officer. You make a quick google translate and pronounce the words to him over the radio. Tolya then decides to play it nice one more time, showing the picture of the HVT to the Officer. <<I NOT... KNOW>> The Officer tries to say, but his rudimentary English studders his words.

>Execute the Prisoners
Sorry guys, this was just a test. I promise I won't test you guys like this again.

>Ziptie the prisoners and duct tape their mouths
>Loot the Area

As Sokol finishes up, the question arises of what to do with the prisoners. It's much easier to just execute them and make it look like they died in the raid, but with your new boss breathing right behind you, you realize that he might not approve of your decision and consider firing you the first chance he gets. Who knows what kind of Commander he might be, he could be anti-war for all you know. Back when you used to work for Wagner Group the operatives could get away with such things because war was war and the company was illegal anyway, but you work for BEAR now. The consequences of war crimes can single handily shut down the company.

Instead, you order Sokol to zip tie the prisoners and apply duct tape to their mouths. After finishing, Sokol proceeds to loot the area. Might as well take the spoils of war.

This isn't another test, I promise. You can play this mission loud or quiet. In later missions you will be able to choose which squads to deploy, some squads are more specialized than others, but all of them can equally be stealthy or loud to different extents. Sokol is an adaptable team and is your jack-of-all-spades. Depending on what you loot you might find some items to be more useful than others, such as exceptionally rare guns for your operators. As of intel loot, you automatically pick this up.
>>
>>4537811
Nah can't trust that. Tried going loud in a previous /qst. It was only a training exercise but it went horribly.

Uniforms though, worked much better. Somehow convinced the enemy Officer in the area that extremists from one of three nazi magical girl organizations (The officer was also a Nazi and was aware of said organizations) was plotting to undermine his operation to get a leg up.

Long story short it worked great. He summoned all his high ranking officers into a room we put explosives in, set bombs in his communications room and took Gibraltar by the afternoon.

Bad comparison but even with movie logic we're outnumbered and out gunned. Going loud except for the final sprint home would end in a Phyric Victory at best.

>Long Range Radios.

You instruct Sokol to take the enemy uniforms and pack them in their assault packs. Perhaps these uniforms will have a purpose in the near future. You also tell Sokol to take the enemy's long-range radios, they will be useful for this mission and perhaps for future missions. Tolya proceeds to wire the radio so you can hear enemy communications while on the same network, not that you will understand what they are saying but maybe someone around the office can. You ask Kiril to look for a person who speaks Arabic in the meantime.

You place a number of virtual enemies across the ORBAT monitor, noting the intelligence that Sokol gathered from the military map. They have a number of powerful opportunities presented to them that they can approach. For one, they can eliminate the garrison of a nearby artillery site and attempt to hijack the artillery piece for their own use. This would give Sokol a powerful opportunity to not only soften the garrison at the UN base but also take out the HVT if he is where we think he is. However, firing the artillery will immediately attract every single patrol on Sokol's location. Sokol will have to move fast and find a way to get into the FOB without getting caught.
Alternatively, Sokol can choose to just eliminate the artillery garrison and attempt to travel to the FOB or the location of the HVT on foot. This will take more time, but it will certainly cause a lot less attention if they can get away with it.

>Set Waypoint to Artillery Site

Knowing that the threat of artillery will be a serious threat in extracting the VIP, you set Sokol on a course to the nearby enemy artillery battery. As Sokol travels to the area, the fatigue of the Operators start to get noticed by you.

"Sokol, SITREP. What's your condition, over?"

The Team Leader, Tolya, looks back at his subordinates to assess their state.
<<We are running ourselves ragged here Zeus, but we're keeping pace.>>

"Acknowledged, pick up the pace if you can."

Sokol hasn't spotted any hostile enemy contacts yet, and they have found themselves travelling in an open field. Beyond the next road, Sokol has visual contact with the artillery battery and an enemy contact about 700 yards (~650m) out. There is a treeline closer to the artillery battery that Sokol is on heading for, but the Marksman Yegor is capable of engaging at this distance with a clear shot.

Sokol heads into the treeline behind the artillery battery. Sokol then lays prone alongside the treeline to observe the enemy ahead of them. Sokol identifies that there are two soldiers guarding the Artillery battery with 4 camping tents nearby. You expect there to be 4 additional enemies in those tents. Your Marksman Yegor also spots two soldiers beyond the artillery around some buildings. The odds are they won't be able to see what is happening at the artillery site, but they are within engagement distance, some 450 yards (~425 meters) out.

Sokol can easily take out the entire garrison without alerting the enemy from their position, or attempt to eliminate the guards discretely using knives. It can also attempt to capture the artillerymen alive, but it could be complicated.

Planning for the future Eagle Red and Wolf Black will probably be our bread and butter. Or at least we'll likely always have one or the other in a mission

As mentioned prior, just because an operator team is put into a 'loud' category doesn't mean the squad can't do stealth. Bear Squad may be the loudest and has the sharpest claws, but it doesn't mean the bear can surprise its prey.

Yeah but there'd a difference between being able to pick a padlock and being able to crack a safe. Trying to sneak into a manned artillery site and plant explosives is wayy too risky for a squad that doesn't specialize in Stealth.

You hover your mouse over and set a new waypoint for Sokol Red.

<<We received the waypoint location on the HUD Zeus, we're moving out.>>

No events happened on the way to the HVT Compound, and for a moment you yourself were able to take a breath. As Sokol approaches the next waypoint, you can see on the camera feed the lights of a fenced-out village in the distance. Sokol pauses a distance away from the village and takes a moment to observe the infrastructure. Meanwhile, you open up a 3D map of the village area in a new tab, however, the quality of the model was negligible in ORBAT, making advanced planning troublesome.

<<Zeus, come in, we've reached the destination. It looks like there's some activity in the village, but we don't have a good view of the area due to the trees in the surrounding area. Please advise, over.>>

There is not much to go on for you, the only entrances you see are at the front of the gated community, in which you can be almost certain that it is guarded. Sokol could try to circle around the location to try to find an alternate entrance in, but by the looks of it they won't likely find out. If all else fails, Sokol could try to climb the wire fence from a less-visible part of the area.

It always a good idea to know your enemy before getting into a fight, and that's exactly what you order Sokol to do. They begin cautiously going around the village just outside of the view of any enemy, looking for holes in the defence...

After searching the perimeter for possible entrances, Sokol found one on the other side of the village. Unfortunately for Sokol, the gate door was guarded by two soldiers inside the fenced-off village, and they too were in view of a guard in a watchtower. There was also one patrol going around the perimeter of the village fence who would occasionally pass by the door, making infiltrating the village without being spotted difficult. Two possible compounds to where the HVT were identified, marked as two circles on the map.

<<Zeus, we've discovered there to be a single civilian in the compound area, how copy?>>

"Acknowledged Sokol. Standby for orders."

Sokol will have to find a way to eliminate the HVT and get out, as a prolonged confrontation with the enemy garrison could overwhelm Sokol if they're not careful. One of the first ideas that come to mind is to cause a distraction in the woods to draw out the garrison, and then try to slip in from the front entrance. If Sokol does this, there is a possibility the Sudanese General will also come outside to see what is going on, giving Sokol an easy opportunity to eliminate him. Then again, Sokol could also try to burst into the village using the element of surprise, working its way to each compound using whatever cover is available.

>Create a distraction

You lay out a plan to alert the enemy garrison by creating a diversion far into the woods. Sokol will have approximately a 10-14 minute window to find the HVT and eliminate him. In order to carry out the distraction, Sokol will have to detach an element to create the diversion. The chosen operator will regroup with Sokol once they've raided the compound. Upon asking which operator will be the one to cause the distraction, you respond...

The team decides that Yegor should be the one sent to make the distraction. The initial idea is that he goes out into the woods to start a bonfire, and use that to draw troops away from the HVT compound. However, upon discussing the plan with the rest of Sokol team, Yegor is skeptical that the plan would work, as he thinks it will only draw a small patrol unit to the area, and perhaps not even from the village itself. Yegor instead insists that he and Yakov would attempt to attack the village from the distance by taking out guards and retreating into the forest. This would prompt the entire base to be on alert, at the same time drawing the HVT out in order to get him to safety. This would enable the rest of Sokol team to intercept him at the front gate amidst the confusion and eliminate him.

Yegor's Draganov opens up the battle with a perfect headshot to the tower guard's head. Yakov follows suit, opening up machinegun fire against the two guards near the gated door, killing both of them and alerting the entire base. Moments later, about a dozen soldiers rush outside of the two compounds to see what is going on. On Tolya's camera feed, you can see a Squad Leader bark orders to his subordinates, sending them out to respond to the threat. Meanwhile, Yegor and Yakov pull out of the area, retreating into the woods as planned.

Tolya is on standby not far from the entrance gate with his team by his side. He and the rest of Sokol watch as a squad of infantry exits from the village entrance, cautiously taking cover by some trees to the South. They begin moving in the general direction of where the gunfire came from. As you watch these events unfold, Tolya sees your target.

<<Zeus, we have eyes on the HVT. Keystone is outside. We can take him out here or try to get closer.>>

The engagement distance was roughly about 325 yards (~300m), if Sokol engages now they'll be able to pull out easily, but if they don't land a shot at the target, the HVT will react and Sokol will have to get closer.

Tolya lifts his rifle takes aim at the guards, quickly putting both of them to sleep. As the team moves swiftly into the entrance of the village, they are immediately met by a gunner in a Toyota pickup lining his machinegun right at them. The quick action of Igor saves Tolya and he eliminates the driver and gunner of the technical. The team proceeds to take aim at the soldiers guarding the Field General, who sees Sokol and pulls his pistol to fire back at the Operators. Fortunately, the reaction time of Sokol was so quick even the soldiers guarding the officer didn't even have time to return fire. Just as the General was about to shoot his pistol, a round of 7.62x39mm from Alek's rifle impacts the forehead of the High-Value target.

The lack of enemies returning fire against Sokol meant that they had a precious few seconds to take advantage of the situation. From the Southside of the village, you could hear shouting as the garrison realizes it's under attack.

<<Zeus! Keystone is down! We're exfiltrating from the area!>>

Just as Alek gets into the car, a Soldier manages to fire a shot at Alek, hitting his shoulder. Igor fires back, suppressing the enemy as Sokol boards the armed truck.

<<Drive!>>

Alek hits the gas, and the car wildly drives out of the village. Behind them, soldiers are spraying gunfire as the truck drives away into the dark night.

<<This is Sokol, Alek has been hit!>>

"Acknowledged Sokol. Yegor, Yakov?"

<<Recieveing Zeus>>

"Regroup on the next waypoint. Marker has been added on your feed."

<<Roger that.>>

You take a moment to exhale your breath as Vlad and Kiril watch anxiously at the camera feed. They were this close to killing Alek, a few more centimetres and they would be down an Operator. However, you knew the call was risky, but this call just might make the difference between the success and failure of the mission.

Eventually, Alek comes to stop some distance away from the village to examine his wounds. The injury looks bad, and there wasn't enough of Alek's personal field dressing to cover it as Alek's bandages were ruined from the river crossing earlier in the mission. However, thanks to each operator having their own first aid kits, Tolya provided Alek with his field dressing and Alek applies it to his shoulder, covering the wound.

<!> Operator Aiming Precision Reduced <!>

As Sokol finishes addressing Alek's wounds, Yegor and Yakov arrive to regroup with the rest of the team. Now that the enemy knows of Sokol's presence, you expect the local garrison in the area to be on higher alert than normal. They'll have to find the VIP soon, as the evidence of the first light begins hueing the night.

<<Zeus, we've regrouped with Yegor and Yakov. We're ready to move on your order.>>

You focus your attention on the FOB. Now that the location of the VIP is confirmed to be at the base, we can begin deducting his exact location. According to your analysts, there are two possible locations where the VIP could be at the base:

>POINT ALPHA.
It is known that the building is a Police Department and has prison faculties back when it used to be under UN control. The odds are, this is the most likely position of the VIP.

>POINT BRAVO.
It is anyone's guess what this building is for, but supposedly it was a local intelligence office, where UN Officers worked. Perhaps it's where the VIP is since Sudanese Army Commanders have occupied it as well. There may be secondary value in checking this location.

>POINT ALPHA.

The Police Station. If that's where known prison faculties are, then that is the most likely place we'll find the VIP. Next, how do enter and exit the base? On the map, you can see 4 possible entrances. Each entrance is likely to be guarded, however, the difference being that each entrance might offer different levels of cover once Sokol is inside the base.

The nearest entrance, marked as WP 1, offers the best cover, but the least room to maneuver for if Sokol has to insert and exit through. If Sokol is surrounded in this entrance area, it might lead to the Operators having to fight their way out through, but if they can slip past unnoticed, they have many places to stealthyfully maneuver around the base area, including a direct hidden route to Bravo.

The second nearest entrance, marked as WP 2, has little to no immediate cover by the entrance but outside has a great hill position ahead of it that can be useful for suppressing enemy fire. This waypoint might not be the best entrance point, but a potentially exploitable exit point if Sokol has the means to block enemy movements through this entrance, as most traffic goes through this entrance. The entrance is large and has no gate.

Further from the second waypoint is the northernmost entrance, marked on the map as WP 3. This entrance is extremely close to the Police Station and is both a good entrance and exit point for when the Operators are in possession of the VIP. However, this location is likely to be crawling with enemies, as it is where most of the base faculties are. If Sokol gets caught in a firefight immediately, they will have a very hard time to escape the Police Station once the VIP is captured. Speed will be the most important here.

The furthest entrance is WP 4, it is an entrance that has zero entrance cover and it has 5-6 guard towers that can easily see the entrance from a distance. You deduct that since it's late at night there will be fewer guards in each guard tower, but nevertheless, it is the riskiest entrance. Right next to this entrance is a forest. If Sokol ends up using this entrance to escape, they can make it difficult for the enemy to keep track of them. Another possible advantage of this entrance is that it is the closest to the armoured vehicle parking. Now I'm not saying you should try to steal a BTR-80, but it's on the table as a possible plan of action.

Select two waypoints as the entrance-to-exit points. Examples:
>WP1 to WP3
>WP1 to WP1
>WP3 to WP2

We enter in wp1 while Alek stays behind in the technical as the getaway driver. Keep Alek waiting at wp1 in case we get busted immediately. If we make it in Alek will drive to wp2 and hide and wait for the team. We should probably leave another team member behind to backup Alek and possibly man the gun if we need it in a hot escape of wp2.

Seeing that it might be better to insert as discretely as possible, you draw a multi-waypoint path for Sokol to follow from the closest most entrance to the main entrance, mostly under the presumption that it will be a hot escape, and indeed, it might come down to it. You instruct Sokol to leave behind Alek to act as a getaway driver in case Sokol's infiltration fails. However, if they succeed, they will be able to drive off at a high speed with a small chance of being pursued by enemies.

Now it comes down to the execution of the extraction. If Sokol is to go through the closest entrance to the main entrance, they're going to have to stealthfully maneuver the entire way from Waypoint 1 to the Police Station. Assuming they make it, as soon as they enter the Police Station things will no longer be predictable. There could be a front entrance guard with multiple armed or unarmed soldiers in the office area. Sokol will either have to shoot first or attempt to peacefully take the entire building hostage, preventing the enemy from alerting the base; the chances are it will be the prior since it enables Sokol to consider the least amount of variables. If Sokol finds the VIP, they'll have less than 5 minutes to escape the base.

>Execute plan.
>Write-in (fine-tune the execution of the extraction. You can change your waypoint vote as well).

Sokol splits up from Alek and begins trekking to the Forward Operating Base, taking up a hill position not far away from the first waypoint to observe the base security. As Tolya peers through his Laser Designator binoculars, he has a visual of two guards by the WP1 entrance, with one walking away from his posting. There seems to be generally light activity going on inside the base at this time, but there are various unarmed soldiers walking in and out of buildings. Sokol can also see a few manned guard towers, with a machine gunner positioned nearby the entrance. It might be possible to kill the guards by the entrance without anyone noticing, but that machinegunner will be able to see Sokol approach the compound.

Activity around the base was definitely picking up, as there were officers running from place to place alerting different barracks of soldiers to wake up and mobilize. On the way to the Police Station, Sokol finds that the vehicle parking has several armoured vehicles, including 3 BTR-80s, 4 Technicals, and a T-72 tank, all still coloured in their white UN paint. Guarded by just two sentries, it is tempting for Sokol to steal one of the vehicles and attempt to escape with the VIP this way. Swiftly moving through the base's shadows, Sokol reaches a crossroads just outside of the Police Station, and the team takes cover by a dimly-lit section of H-barrier. Tolya makes a peak around the wall corner, and IDs 2 (or perhaps 3) contacts down the road by the North Entrance. They seem to be looking down the road of the base in the direction of Sokol, meaning they can't cross the road to the Police Station until those guards are dealt with.

<<Zeus, be advised: we have two boogies down the road blocking our path. Advise on a course of action, over?>>

>Pick up a rock and throw it far in a general direction away from the Police Station.

As it turns out there were actually 3 soldiers, with one being on top of the North entrance guard tower. Sokol wasted no extra bullets taking out all the guards quickly and quietly, before running across the road to the Police Station. With the North Entrance being clear of enemies, this can now allow Alek to pick up Sokol immediately after they find the VIP.

<<Zeus, we're at the entrance of the police station. The inside of the compound looks to have a few lights on. There's probably a skeleton crew of staff around this time. We're ready to breach your order, Zeus.>>

Since there are not that many people inside, Sokol can try to force all the staff to surrender peacefully, expending no rounds in the process and quietly leaving the Police Station with the VIP. If that doesn't work, Sokol will have to fight.

Before Sokol begins the breech, you call in Alek to drive to the base and await by the Northern entrance. By the time Sokol exfiltrates the Police Station, Alek will be outside waiting for the Operators. You confirm the breach order and Sokol slams open the door...

Sokol kicks open the door and the infiltration team pours into an unlit reception area. They encounter a locked door to the next room and Sokol ends up trapped in the reception area. As Sokol tries to force open the door, an unarmed guard walks over to see what is going on and glances behind the reception desk. He is immediately startled and reacts by running away. Yegor takes a shot with his pistol to stop the guard but missed as he closed the door behind him. Finally, after using the buttstock of his rifle, Tolya manages to open the door and the team follows through into a lit hallway. On the camera feed, you can hear the sounds of a soldier shouting in Arabic echoing directly across the hallway. Sokol moves fast through the hallway and takes a right down a set of stairs, where they find themselves enter a basement prison, where they encounter the unarmed soldier plus two armed guards, and they react by taking aim at Sokol, but not before Tolya could align his sights...

Tolya misses the first round as it ricochets off some prison bars, and the enemy guard fires his rifle back, hitting Tolya in the chest against his body armour, and he trips over and falls down the rest of the stairs. Igor is next in line to attack and manages to kill the guard that shot Tolya. As the team maneuvers into cover, Yegor manages to score a hit with his pistol and the team overwhelms the enemy, with the unarmed guard raising his hands to surrender.

As the team secures the area, they find a man matching the description of the VIP, sitting in a cell corner with his head low and wounds all over his body. He lifts his head to look at the operators.

<<General Moses Okongo?>> says Yakov, butchering his name in accented English. Out of all the operators, Yakov had the worst English, so it would be pointless for him to do the talking.

The Commander simply nods and tries to lift himself up, struggling in the process. It is obvious that he had been tortured.

Igor, who is handling the unarmed guard, indicates to the guard to unlock the prison cell, but the guard, clearly scarred and frightened, shakes his head but then sees the prison keys on the ground by his dead comrade. Igor picks it up and orders the guard to walk into an empty prison cell, with Igor then heading over to unlock the cell containing the Commander.

<<We are here to get you out of here General>> Tolya says, as he is helped by Yegor to stand back up.

<<Thank you.>> He says with a low-tone <<What about my men? I had a platoon fighting alongside me until we were overrun, they are being taken prisoner in the next building outside. Are you here to save them too?>>

Tolya looks over on the far side of the prison hallway to see two South Sudanese officers in a cage looking back at Tolya. Tolya, not knowing how to respond to this situation, calls you in for advice.

<<Zeus, come in. We found the VIP. He looks badly injured, he might need to be carried->> Tolya says before he is cut off by the Commander <<No I can carry myself!>>

<<We found two more officers with him and he's asked if we're going to save the rest of his platoon, who he says is in the next building.>>

>"General, we neither have the luxury of time nor even the ability to save the rest of your platoon. We can extract your two Commanding Officers but that's it."
>"We'll search the other building for 30 seconds for your platoon, but we can't personally save them. We'll give them the prison keys and they can try to escape themselves. It is on them if they die trying."

<<But they will all be killed if they don't know where they are escaping to!>> The Commander says to Tolya.

<<Think of it this way, if they are willing to torture you for information, they will have no trouble in deciding the fates of your platoon. You have to decide now, do you want us to give them a chance at escape or let fate decide their future?>>

The Commander takes a moment to recognize the significance of this question...

<<I think I will let my men decide their own fates>> The Commander says.

<<Then we'll give them the keys to do it.>> Tolya responds. He unlocks the prison cells of the two company officers and throws the keys to Igor.

<<Igor, take these keys and deliver it to the prisoners, then haul ass to the North entrance.>> Tolya responds.

<<Пoнял.>> And he runs off to the second prison section.

<<The rest of you, on me! Let's move it!>>

Sokol rushes out of the building with the VIP and two company officers. Thankfully, there were no enemies waiting for them, and Alek drives up within view of the North Entrance, and Sokol sprints towards Alek's stolen technical.

<<Быcтpee, быcтpee, быcтpee! (Faster Faster Faster!)>> You hear Tolya say. Sokol wastes no time getting into the vehicle, and the team eagerly waits for Igor.

<<Come on COME ON! Where are you, man?>> Yegor says anxiously.

A few moments pass, but all of a sudden a patrol sees them at the Crossroads. They stop for a moment to look at Sokol's technical and point at it. Yegor, who's aiming his Draganov at the infantry, fires first, and the patrol desperately tries to scatter to cover. Suddenly, Igor finally bursts out from the main entrance of the Police Station, and wildly runs towards the pickup...

<<Блять! Igor!!!>> You hear Tolya say, but it's too late. The patrol opens fire and shoots Igor in the back, and he instantly collapses on the ground.

<<Oтвeтный oгoнь! (Return Fire!)>>, and Yakov on the mounted .50 cal gun fires fanatically against the hidden patrol. Igor is motionless and Tolya and Alek exit the vehicle to rush over to help Igor. Yakov continues to suppress the patrol's positions as Tolya and Alek carry the paralyzed Igor to the car. Behind them, a dozen more enemy soldiers are rushing over to the scene.

Eventually, Yakov's mounted gun runs out of ammo and requires to reload, but the situation denies him of the opportunity and Yakov instead switches to his unsuppressed light machinegun. Tolya enters the vehicle and accelerates away, with Alek in the back trunk attempting to analyze Igor's wounds. The bumpiness of the ride prevents Alek from doing any meaningful diagnosis.

As Sokol drives into the early morning light unpursued, they drive on an unmarked from the Area of Operations. Tolya eventually comes to a stop just outside of the Area of Operations to allow Alek to address an autopsy. As Sokol unloads Igor and lays him down on the ground, it is immediately apparent that his wounds life-threatening. Igor is just numb and is unconscious, and the whole team rushes to assist Alek's treatment, who is limited in resources due to his ruined field dressings.

<<Zeus, can you call in for an EVAC on our position?>> Tolya calls you in.

"Negative Sokol, you have to reach the EVAC point so the SPLAF can pick you up. There are unknown forces in the area and we cannot determine how safe it is for heliborne assets."

<<Fuck unknown forces, tell them to get a helicopter on our position!>>

Knowing it is the most you can do, you call your SPLAF contact on a satellite phone to send in the extraction team. After some squabbling, you successfully negotiate to get the extraction helicopter out of loitering to Sokol's position east of the village.

On the camera feed, you can see the extent of Igor's wounds. Blood is everywhere and Alek struggles to treat Igor...

Despite the best efforts of Alek, after a few minutes, Igor showed no signs of life. Alek, with his silent expression, turns to Tolya.

<<Zeus, this is Sokol. Igor is KIA.>> Tolya says to you mournfully.

"Acknowledged, Sokol." You reply with a sigh. "Helicopter extraction is on its way, eta 10 Mikes."

10 minutes later...

Sokol successfully extracts from the area. You finally sit back on your chair away from the ORBAT interface and hear the sighs behind you. A small crowd of the night shift staff had gathered to watch Sokol's exfiltration. You can see the reserved expression of your new boss and Kirill look equally devastated by Igor's loss.

"You did what you had to do. This is war, and I think the boss understands that as well."

You now return back to the perspective of Vlad.

"Well then, I'm thankful that's over. Anyway, what time is it by the way Yuri?" Kirill says.

"It's 9:56 Sir," Yuri says as he glances at the interface digital clock.

"Oхpeнeть (fucking hell), that long? Slava, how about I introduce you to the rest of the staff tomorrow?" Kirill turns to say to you.

"I think that's a good idea," you say tiredly.

"Ok, let's go. Yuri, finish it up here. Have a Good night." Kiril says as you follow him out the Operators Room door.

"Goodnight Sir," he replies back as the door closes.

You and Kiril walk down the hallway towards the exits when the two of you encounter the blonde secretary you saw earlier waiting by the elevator.

"Ah, Slava. I believe I haven't introduced you to Rita yet." Kiril begins. "She will be your personal secretary and assistant for your duties." Rita turns her attention towards you and Kiril and smiles back humbly.

"Здpaвcтвyйтe (Hello) Margarita," Kiril warmly greets.

"Zdravstvuyte (Hello) Kirill," Rita says back.

"This is our new CEO, Slava, meet Margarita. Margarita, Slava," Kiril introduces.

"Pleasure to meet you," you say as the two of you shake hands.

"Thank you, but I go by Rita." The elevator door opens, and the three of you step in and go down to the parking lot.

"So, we were supposed to have a tour of the building today but it didn't work out. Tomorrow at 8:30 is our weekly meeting, and you'll be able to be introduced to all of the department staff and get to know them a little bit. Afterwards, we can go out for drinks in celebration of your appointment as Chief Executive. How does that sound Slava?"

"I think that's fair," You say, coldly remembering that you were about to be arrested for your past involvement in arms dealings a few hours earlier.

"Good. Well, that settles it." The elevator door opens, and all three of you exit it and head in different directions towards your cars. "See you tomorrow Slava."

You wave your goodbyes and pull out the keys to your...
