Life was good, even better than usual. Everything was going as perfectly as it could in your own opinion. Besides the fact that you still force a stand to manifest despite your hard, hard work following the [Rules of Nature]. But it has become a fun little hobby none the less, a little exercise to remind you of man's natural state, an excuse to get away from all the dreariness and toil of civilization for a few hours.

It was relaxing, and it was pure. Not tainted by technology or man made weapons, sure you still preferred to have a rifle than not, but it was more entertaining to do without.

You hadn't gone hunting for awhile, mostly cause your legs are still sore and upset at you for the hiking you did, and what uh, happened at the end of the hike. After you gave up your chastity and kind of stole Dio's you've felt...weird. Not sick or stressed or guilty, not quite shame, but something else. It's like that act of passion had gone an ignited your blood, made you restless and got your head all cloudy. Its hard to explain, even in your own thoughts.

Something has changed, but you just can't figure out what has changed exactly. And it's bothering you. Its not like you're afraid that someone will find out what you did, you did what felt natural at the time! As you have always done, its just how you live.

Its not like you're guilty for not remaining a maiden till your wedding bed, doesn't bother you, it was your choice and fun, but something was still...feeling off.

Maybe its a sign you're going to have a breakthrough in your admittedly half assed attempts at learning how to manifest a Stand? Maybe you're just more in tune with your body, after all the training and primitive hunting.

You don't know. Its beyond the knowledge you have and what you know, its confusing. But you know its something, and that makes it bothersome.

Its not the feeling of being ill, or being fraught with guilt, it isn't the burn of a exercise, or the weight of fatigue. The feeling isn't something you know, and its irritating that you can't name what it is.

It's a feeling on the edge of a good, pleasurable feeling, and a bad, depressing one. It's neither, or maybe its some kind of mixture between joy and sorrow? That doesn't sound like something that exists, honestly. It'd be like mixing oil and water.

Groaning, you look up at the sky, past stray scarlet locks and swaying tree branches dancing on the cold wind. Even climbing a tree like you've always loved hasn't helped you figure out what it is you're feeling. But at least the view is nice, pleasing, calming.

Doesn't help clear the smoke and fire from your mind, but its enough to make the day a pleasant one at least. Helps to ignore the stress of life, and the fact you're wedding is only a few months away. It seems like a long time, but it feels like it'll happen tomorrow and well.

While you aren't afraid of your dalliance and adventure with Dio becoming known and being shamed for it, you are aware of what happens to women AFTER such...acts. And already a phantom of your mother is screaming in your head, using some rather colorful language to scold and shame you for what you've done. A look of a disappointment on your father's face. Jojo reading a noose to hang Dio with.

What were you thinking about again? Suddenly you can't remember, must've been day dreaming or something. But yeah, that could be a problem. Keeping the little fun you had with your fiancé a secret would be a little hard to hide if your belly starts to get a little larger than binges of sweets can explain away. But hey! You probably don't have to worry about it anyways! It's not like you're pregnant for sure, such things are decided by chance and cycles like it is for any of god's creature. So stop worrying about what may happen, and the odd feeling that's been plaguing you for awhile!

You're a woman about to be married! you shouldn't be sitting around fretting if someone finds out that you opened a present a little early, before your wedding, and aren't exactly a pure maiden by the views of society.

But bugger them, you've never cared about society anyways! or what it thinks! What you need, is a distraction.

And as if he was an actor waiting for his cue, Hubert called up to you.

"My lady, a letter has arrived...from the Younger Mr Joestar" He says from the bottom of the tree you've climbed up to rest and think in.

Now that is interesting.

What do you do?
[]Hop down and read the letter, to see what's so important Jojo couldn't just come talk to you
[] Tell Hubert to put it in your room, you're going to visit Mirra, see if she's doing something exciting or has any answers for the questions plaguing your mind
[] yell out "Gaaah! I wanna fight something!" and run off looking for a fight to clear your head.
[] Just go see what Jojo wants, you can probably get to his family's estate faster than a horse with that running technique you picked up
[] Write in

Sorry for the wait for 2 days, been feeling like dog shit, aha

Alright, going to see what Jojo wants and reading the letter on the way wins. Writing

Sorry for the wait, still feeling cruddy

You'll have to see what's going on, it'll at least give you something to do for awhile rather than pondering and struggling to find out the odd feeling. Maybe it'll help you forget the weird feeling, since if something has gotten Jojo to send you a letter when his family's manner is just a short walk or carriage ride from your family's estate, something exciting has to be going on. He is after all the furthest thing from secretive and scheming, he wouldn't just send you a letter for no good reason. Its not like him at all! not at all! So hopping from your perch, high in the tree, you come crashing down to the ground and manages to stick the landing. Poor Hubert looks like his heart almost gave out from sheer shock. With leaves falling around and quite a few of them stuck in your crimson mane, you take the letter from the old man's hands as he stands there eyes wide and mouth agape with surprise.

"Thank you Hubert" You say sweetly before he has a chance to speak, leaning close to him by standing on your toes before leaping past him "Go take the rest of the day off. You of all people deserve a good rest, go sit by the fire and keep those old bones of your nice and warm, eh?"

"My lady, when will you learn to be careful, you nearly gave me my death from fright" Hubert chuckles weakly, hand clutching his winter coat and pulling it tighter around himself "And, if I may pry, where are you off to so fast"

You've already torn off the wax seal on the letter's face with your thumb, flicking it to the ground as you start to jog for the gate, trying to fish the letter out from its envelope. When Hubert calls out to you, you turn on your heel, and stop mid step. Which means you have to balance on one leg for a moment before turning back around.

"Oh just going to see what's gotten Jojo so excited, no reason not to check up on him" You say, tossing the envelope to the ground as you twist back around and begin to unfold the letter "I'll be back soon, so if either of my parents ask, tell them not to worry"

"And that you're a grown woman" Hubert laughs, which makes you giggle as you start to pick up speed to run. You won't be able to run properly while reading, but you'll be able to move pretty quickly anyways. Its a difference between a normal run and that running technique you now know, which is a pretty big difference admittedly.

The letter, like anything written by jojo, has a few words you don't understand and flowery speech. But reading Mirra's stories, journal and poems, it's much easier to swallow Jojo's prose. Even with a few meanings and phrases escaping you and making little to no sense, you can understand what he's so urgent to tell you. Which ends up making you slow down a bit more, just to ensure you read his letter carefully.

And what's written in the letter, makes your blood run colder than the winter air does.

It seems Jojo, who you remember voicing his suspicions of his father being poisoned before when you talked about his reoccurring disease, and how it resembled Dio's bastard of a father's own illness when you last talked about it which was uh....awhile ago. Not too long ago, but not recent. Time flies when you're having fun after all, and you've been having quite a bit of it.

What you remember clearly about that conversation is you got mad about something, but then again that's pretty normal for you and your temper.

But, apparently Jojo asked Erina and told her about Mr Joestar's symptoms, and they matched with some poison from the orient. That's the gist of what he was so eager to tell you. That there's evidence that his theory was correct and someone is trying to hurt his father. Or, in his own words, is trying to help him with a folk remedy, but got conned.

And he didn't want to cause a ruckus by telling his father or Dio, as, well, learning a family member is being poisoned isn't something anyone likes to here. Whether its accidental or purposefully done.

Kind of seems dumb to tell you though, since you don't have a good track record with acting subtly or keeping things secret when you get fired up. Though, you understand why he'd worry Dio would get particularly upset if he told him.

He does take care of George about as often as Jojo does. It'd be easy for him to blame himself, even if Mr Joestar's sickness is milder than it has been for the last few years before. But even so, this is serious, and you'll have to talk to Jojo about it, otherwise you might start looking for whose doing this yourself!
How dare they hurt Mr Joestar! or sell poison as medicine! it pisses you off just thinking about it.

Stuffing the letter in your coat, you start to actually run as fast as you can, thankfully having kicked off your shoes before climbing up that tree.

They tend to get in the way of this method of sprinting. And in no time at all, you're at Joestar manner, having climbed the fence cause you're not waiting for their new butler to let you in.

Not like it isn't the first time you've snuck onto the grounds without being invited, anyways.

What do you do?
[] Find Jojo, and ask him for more details and what he's planning on doing
[] Tell Dio! it might upset him but he deserves to know
[] Give the letter to Mr Joestar, since he's the one probably being poisoned, he deserves to know!
[] Hmm, it might look suspicious if you show up uninvited and without being let in. So sneak into the manor and find Jojo! (dex check)

Alright, so just finding Jojo and asking him what's up wins!

with a close runner up of telling Dio, I'll be sure to include an option for that in the next vote, or try to at least.

Hopefully the front door is unlocked or else you'll have to start checking windows and some of the backdoors. Or even try and get into the cellar and then going back up into the house above it, since there's a door leading into it somewhere by the gardener's shed if it hasn't been renovated away. But that place is a little scary, since Mirra held a séance down there and something knocked over a bottle of wine while she did. Sure it might've been her stand causing a ruckus, but it could also have been a ghost. And you have no way of fighting a ghost if there is one, unless somehow you manage to create your own stand before it does and you aren't even sure that's how it works either.

What were you thinking about again? Seems your mind won't stop wandering to weird places today. Odd, but not concerning, its always been a little hard for you to focus when you were even a little excited, or even just curious about something else.

Scratching your head, you stand in the empty courtyard of the joestar estates, before your mind catches back up and you remember you came to ask Jojo about the letter. Not to go try and fight a ghost or break into his house for no reason.

Sometimes you can be a little scatterbrained. It was probably just your hot blood confusing you after getting fired up from sprinting all the way here and practically leaping over the wall.

Smiling, you walk up to the front door, humming a hunting song as you go, bobbing your head back and forth. And wouldn't you know it? their new butler locked the door, and you know that stick in the mud wouldn't keep a key outside in fear of burglars or perhaps that the Jack fellow that's been plaguing London comes to visit.

What an idiot. He's making you have to do more work! Thankfully, you remember where Jojo's room is. Unfortunately, most of the old cracks and pipes you used to get to it or Dio's room in years before have been remove or replaced. And the trees have been all nicely trimmed, and now you're practically locked out.

Well locked out without checking every other door, window or braving the cellar. Which even if it's ghost free must be freezing, and you've had enough ice and freezing cold just being around Mirra for this year, so that's just out of the question. Well, actually, looking at the walls of the manor, they aren't entirely flat. And you are a really good climber. All you need is something wrap your arms around or a corner you can press yourself between and you'll be able to get to the roof. And thus Jojo's room.

Man never keeps his window locked, like Dio does. He loves the morning and night air while he smokes his pipe. So you start pacing around the manner and find a suitable corner with a few rougher patches for hand holds. Hugging the wall, you shimmy up it quickly, digging your hands into the gaps of brick and wood that have been yet to be painted over or repaired, and gripping the wall with your legs and thighs to keep from falling.

In no time at all, you're on the roof, a light frost covering the tiles and shingles. Anyone else would fall, to you its just a little torturous moving across them with bare feet. you really should've grabbed your shoes before you ran over here but...well, no use in crying about it now.

(Hunter)

And as soon as you walk a few feet, you smell tobacco on the wind, and now you know Jojo's in his room, so you don't have to search for him through the manner and can warm your feet by his fire.

So you run as quickly as you can over the roof, following the scent of smoke like a dog after a fox. Now you can see smoke rising, and begin to slow down to keep from falling off the roof. falling to your stomach, you creep over to the edge and grab onto the window sill, pulling yourself down while using your legs as an achor once again.

Sure enough, Jojo is reading by his window, pipe between his teeth smoking an American grown tobacco judging from the smell of the smoke. You peek further, grinning widely as your long and wild hair hangs in the air as you lay upside down.

Jojo turns the page of his book

"Oy! Jojo! What you reading there?!" You bark, causing your friend to almost bite through his pipe, as he turns to you, his broad shoulders nearly putting a dent in the wall.

"Anna?!" He shouts, not mentioning the fact you're on his roof as you climb the rest of the way in like a snake creeping into its burrow

"Jojo!" You shout back with a laugh as you fall to his floor, looking up at his wide eyes still grinning happily and a little manically as you do so

"What are...you snuck in, didn't you" Jojo says, hand still over his chest, clearly still shocked from your sudden appearance and yell

"No I teleported, Mirra has taught me magic foul and dark" You snort, rolling your eyes as you take a seat, Jojo taking the pipe from his mouth as you do so

"Funny, but I take it you've seen my letter then?" He asks urgently, but that may just be because his heart is hammering in his chest

"Yep, came over as soon as I got it, read it on the way over" You say seriously, nodding as you cross your arms "So..."

"So do you believe me then or did you come over to have an argument?" Jojo asks quietly, tamping the tobacco in his pipe down

"I said so didn't I? that means I was gonna ask you something" You balk, your friend smirking before frowning again. The wind causes his blue hair to ruffle gently, like grass.

"Just making sure, and what is it you intend to ask me?" He asks, equally as serous now, but calm.

"What do you intend to do to fix this problem?" You ask bluntly, crossing one leg over the other as you unfold your arms and ball your hands into fists.

"Problem" He repeats, before sighing "Well, I'm not sure I could figure out who is, whether by accident or for some malicious purpose, is poisoning my father, without watching him for every hour of every day while simultaneously watching every servant under our employ"
cont
>>
>>4558983

"Would be rather difficult" you agree, nodding your head "So what are you going to do, Jojo. I know you aren't going to sit by and watch this happen, and I sure as hell won't either"

Jojo smiles again, before he closes his eyes.

"Well, I figured there can only be so many people who'd sell Chinese medicine, locally, in nearby towns and cities, in London, even in all of England" He explains, taking a seat on his open window as he tells you his plan, puffing a few times on his pipe to keep it lit "The only one locally who'd sell something like that is Mirra and"

"She wouldn't make the mistake of selling poison as medicine, and wouldn't sell poison in the first place" You interrupt as Jojo nods solemly

"Exactly, so it means this poison must be coming from somewhere else, probably London considering its size and...well nature" Jojo says, sighing again as he shakes his head "So I think I'll search there for answers, at first"

"All of a London?" You ask, adjusting your position in the chair you're sitting on

"If need be, if need be" Jojo says, pulling his pipe from his lips as he looks out the window "but, I worry my father's condition may worsen while we're gone"

You say nothing, Jojo turns to you and smiles

"As I presume you will want to come along, considering your temperament" He says warmly, a kind look in his eyes like usual.

He guessed right.

"Of course I will!" You shout, not meaning to, but since Jojo asked Erina, and Erina has experience with this sort of thing being a nurse and all, you're a little riled up. How could you be calm when you have some proof that one of your best friend's dad is being poisoned, even if it's by mistake rather than out of any malice. It isn't exactly something you can stay calm about. Someone could be trying to kill Mr Joestar, a murderer! or someone is conning someone close to him, like one of their servants or maybe even Dio to give him poison that's being soled as medicine!

Jojo smiles, appreciating your support if not your energy.

"I figured you would, you're not the kind of woman to sit idle by while something is happening, even if there's danger" Jojo says before pausing and looking in your eyes, worry breaks through his expression as he frowns "Especially if its dangerous"

"Oh you know I can handle myself, how dangerous could London be?" You say, crossing your arms and snorting through your nose, before smiling cockily "Besides, as you said, I can't just sit around while your dad's in danger, George has always been kind to me, I can't just stand around and do nothing"

"I know, I can't either, I'd never be able to forgive myself if I did nothing" He proclaims passionately, hand over his heart and eyes burning with a dark fire...a fire his eyes had the first day you met him, but there's more of it.

its like the fire that always burns through your veins, that empties your head and makes you act on whim or stupidly. like your temper, your anger, but tempered, controlled. Like the eyes of a wolf, or a lion.

"Nor could I, if my friend got hurt while helping me find the answers I'm seeking" He says, his voice stern and strong, as he grips and pulls at his coat, balling his free hand into a fist. The Pipe between his teeth creaks as he bites down into it

"While helping me save my father" He says, his voice filled with pain and hurt, with sorrow, turning away from you as his confident expression twists into one of pure suffering. You can't imagine how hard this must be for Jojo, he suspected it was poison before, but only as a stray thought, a what if. To learn his father has actually been poisoned, and for years potentially, must be devastating.

You can't imagine it, all it makes you is furious, but some how you haven't started screaming or yelling yet. Somehow the fire in your blood hasn't come out despite how angry you are, how scared you are.

"How dangerous can London be? You know it takes a lot more to hurt me than it does most woman" You say, unnerved by how soft your voice is despite the emotion raging in your heart, and how clear your head is. Its weird

"I know, you can defend yourself" Jojo says quietly, pulling his pipe from his lips again "You also encountered things that would turn most male pale and frightened like children left alone in the dark"

cont
>>
>>4560449

"Mirra's stand" You say with a nod, which Jojo returns solemnly "I've seen it twice actually, now"

Jojo turns to you, an eyebrow raised in curiosity

"Well, she's been trying to help me with learning how to do it myself, and felt safe enough to attempt to manifest it to see if that help" You say with a nervous grin, expecting a scolding. Jojo sighs

"You mean you browbeat the poor woman into doing something that endangered you so you could try and copy her method" He says as you turn away

"She's my friend, its not like I tortured her anything" You say as Jojo sighs again

"And that's why I feel safe in letting you assist me in my search in London" Jojo says, shaking his head "Even if it goes against my beliefs, I know, even as a gentleman, that you a woman who can easily defend and handle herself, not matter what or who we encounter"

"Of course I am!" You say proudly, forgetting the irritation you felt when Jojo reprimanded you for your "training" with Mirra.

"But be warned, it will take us awhile to find any lead" Jojo says, setting his pipe down "Another reason I've asked for your assistance, besides knowing you simply will not let me do this alone"

"You got that right Jojo, not letting any of my friends do something dangerous if I'm not around to help them" You say, reaffirming the fact you're going in case Jojo get's cold feet or his chivalrous nature makes him have second thoughts.

"Is your hunting ability, you can track anything. Its uncanny and honestly as amazing as Mirra's magic" Jojo says kindly, smiling again "Alone, I'd have no lead or chance in finding the source of the poison, I know its name but...Well, a pompous rich boy asking questions will find none in the streets of London"

"Eh?" You say, confused by his reasoning "That's why? I mean I'm a good hunter an all but, I can't do something that amazing, if I knew who did it or what the stuff smelled or tasted like I might but we'd have more luck if we"

You pause as a brilliant idea passes through your mind, causing you to gasp. Of course! Of course! it was right in front of you all this time!

"if we?" Jojo asks, stepping closer to you, a look of desperation in his eyes, but he doesn't raise his voice at all.

"Bring Dio, he knows London" You say breathlessly, a grin frozen on your face "Kind of, He'd know how to act and where to start looking, wouldn't he? or at least a general idea"

Jojo closed his eyes, pressing his knuckles against his lips as he considered you suggestion.

"He does, he does. He was spent most of his life there, after all" Jojo says while nodding his head "He'd be able to fit in more easily and help us avoid unnecessary dangers, not to mention he's always has been rather roguish, despite his manners, if he were to help in our search, it'd be much more likely we'll find the answers we're looking for instead of just insults or threats"
cont
>>
>>4560461

"Yeah I've always found that attractive about him, his boldness and dashing..." You begin to say dreamily before Jojo presses his tobacco pipe against your lips

"For my sake, please be quiet about your attraction to my adoppted brother. I know you are engaged, but it is an uncomfortable subject still" Jojo say with a kind, but fake, smile on his lips

"Fine" You grumble "But, yeah, Dio knows his way around London, as you said and he'd fit in more than either of us "

"Exactly, and he has more experience with...well subterfuge, that silver tongue of his will come in handy as much if not more than your senses or the name of the poison itself" Jojo says with a nod, a hopeful glimmer in his eyes "Let's tell him together shall we?"

Alright, so grabbing a gun or two wins, and I'll say you leave it up to Jojo to talk Dio into joining the two of you in your search as it has about half the vote anyways and will make it easier to write.

Writing now.

"Actually, I think you should ask him alone, I need to pack some essentials for our little investigation" You say, feeling a little ashamed, but you have to refuse. If London is as dirty and foul as Dio told you it was, you'll need to bring along some protection. And cleaning guns and gathering enough ammunition for you to feel safe in the nightmare of a city Dio described to you is...going to take awhile, and it sounds like Jojo wants to head out as soon as Dio is convinced or refuses. You doubt he'll say no, considering not only his adoptive brother, but his beloved Fiancé are putting themselves into danger for the sake of his adoptive father. How could he say no? Sure you asking would go a good way of convincing Dio, since he can be a little rough around the edges like yourself, and really you're the only one he'll listen to if he's acting like a prat. Just like he's the only one you'll listen to when you're acting stupid or lose control due to how angry you are over something petty.

But, you just don't have the time. You look down at you feet, suddenly feeling guilty and angry with yourself over something as simple as not helping Jojo convince Dio to help you. But Jojo just smiles, and puts a reassuring hand on your shoulder.

"I understand Anna, it'd be better if we asked him together, but if you have affairs that need to be sorted out, or feel the need to prepare" Jojo says kindly, clearly seeing how upset you are with having to act selfishly instead of helping him "I understand, and it'd be childish of me to force you to wait do so...just, be careful with what you pack"

Oh yeah he knows what you're planning, he has that same concerned look in his eyes that'd make you think he was a wimp despite his huge bull like build, but really it just shows how nice of a guy Jojo is. He's strong but gentle and courteous. A true gentleman.

His understanding cheers you up, makes you feel like less of a piece of trash for running off and leaving him with the difficult task of convincing Dio to help with the investigation. So you return his smile, with your own beaming grin

"Don't worry, its not like I'm bringing my whole collection, just a little insurance in case we run into some unsavory characters" You say cheerfully, leaping up from the chair and heading for the door, before remembering you snuck in. Might not be the best idea to leave the normal way then.

"I'd like to argue against taking such...precautions, that it will not be necessary, but even though I find the idea distasteful" Jojo begins to ramble as he explains why he's alright with you packing a little heat, more to reassure himself its the moral thing to do

Jojo sighs and closes his eyes as you turn around the climb back out of the window.

"Well I'm not so naïve to believe that we won't be in any danger at all" Jojo says solemnly, lowering his tone gravely with a very unjojo glum expression
cont
>>
>>4562569
"And I'd feel worse if you got hurt because you weren't armed or couldn't intimidate a blackguard who'd go so far as to do harm to a..."

Jojo opens his eyes just a little, squinting them still as he looks at you.

"Well, I wouldn't call you a lady" he says a little teasingly, clearly trying to ease his own nerves and worries, as well as your own. It makes you smile a bit wider.

"Well I'm not worried about it, remember, I've always put the fear of god into whoever would threaten or piss me off" You say boldly, as Jojo just shakes his head. You shrug and start climbing out of the window

"Besides, with you and Dio around, I don't think even the boldest thug would dare try and do me harm" You laugh, before your thoughts remind you of what this little trip is for and what's at risk, killing your laughter and wiping away your smile in an instant

Jojo tries to keep his smile, but its clear he feels the same pain, worse than you. It's his father in danger after all.

"That'd just be natural selection, if some ruffian thinks you're an easy target" Jojo says, managing to still sound happy even if he doesn't look it "Even if you are a bit short"

"I can still beat you in a spar, Joestar!" You snap back, before you try to clamber back up to the roof.

"Yes yes yes" Jojo chuckles "Just trying to cheer you up Anna...you know you could just"

"NO I've made up my mind, I'm sneaking out the way I came in" You grumble, struggling to get your leg out of the window.

"Be careful" You friend calls as you manage to crawl back onto his manor's roof and fall flat on your back.

You can hear him chuckle and sigh, and then a few seconds later, the door to his room opens and closes

"Bah, I can take a fall" You mutter, dusting off your trousers as you stand back up, your back hurting as a wave of vertigo overwhelms you. Well, time to get back home and gather your things.

Probably should take that american revolver your father got you as a birthday present, its a really nice gun. Maybe a rifle to, to sneak into the carriage in case things get really messy.

And your boots, cause your feet are starting to get numb from all of the cold.

Dio looked over the notes sat before him, with the stone mask in his hand. Mirra, he had always thought of her as a fool despite her brilliant mind, since she had always been gullible and naïve. He could claim to be physic and she would probably believe him. Only reason he even remained in contact with her was because she was so close to Anna, and incredibly clingy. He knew she didn't like him, since she always had a certain...affection for Anna, more akin to his own attractiom than merely the love between friends. Which is perhaps why he didn't entirely despise her for her foolishness and childish fantasies.

They had similar tastes in that regard at least, and despite the fact she'd believe anything she heard, she was a legitimate genius. Not as intelligent as Dio himself of course
cont
>>
>>4562589
.But above the unwashed masses, certainly. So in that regard she was useful, rather than an annoyance or obstacle to his ambitions. His dream. She was clever enough to realize Anna would have never felt the same as she feels for her, and thus didn't bother Dio himself besides shooting him hateful glares or spiteful glances occasionally.
Or threatening him with hexes and curses if he mistreated Anna. As if he could, he was no monster after all, and Anna was the only woman worthy of him. She'd simply hit back if he ever fell so low to raise a hand against her outside of their playful spares.

It amused him, how such a genius could act so much like a dog. But he didn't hate Mirra by any mean, she was, after all useful if a little annoying. And she was Anna's friend, after all. They may have a mutual disliking, but for her sake they restrained themselves.

If it wasn't for her naivety, Dio might have considered her his near equal. In fact, he changed his view of her after it turned out some of the superstitious babbling she constantly spews turns out to be true.

Real enough to hurt the one person who never looked down upon him, for one reason or another. Something that did enrage him, even if Anna took it in stride. It was foolish to be angered by such a thing, but he couldn't contain that feeling. It had calmed, and rested with the numerous other reasons for why he had a mild disdain for the little witch.

And thankfully to, as it allowed him to speak with her calmly again, and borrow notes and hypotheses. For, she was admittedly quite bright, if blinded by childish dreams and fantasies.

Half of them were useless, but the other half had some anchor in reality and thus were potentially useful. He did this mostly out of his own curiosity, to see what else Mirra had been accidentally right in.

It was surprising how she knew of the mask that was in the joestars possession, and he did admit her suggestions to manifest one of those "Stands" intrigued him. It'd be quite the curious power to have, and could keep Anna from running around in the woods trying to live as "naturally" as possible.

if it were anyone else, it'd be disgusting, but somehow, when Anna did it, it had a certain wild charm to it. But she was a rarity, a balance between kind and harsh, between intelligence and instinct.

Its one of the reasons he loved her, even though he wasn't certain he could say the same about the man who adopted him, or his son. Any time he thinks of why he likes them, it always connects back to "they were nice to Anna" or they were close to her. Other wise he...felt nothing, outside of respect for Jojo's spirit and will maybe.

Which made him think back to his father, it troubled him to think if that's how he saw the world. Seperated between useful and useless to him alone. Many times he had told himself how he was separated from that cretin because he felt first affection than Love for a woman who was near his polar opposite.
cont
>>
>>4562604
But, always, the lingering thought of "What if it had been the same for Dario and his mother" rose back up. Like a weed in a garden. He knew what he felt for Anna was true, he'd kill for her, he loved her and had long since become fond of her more odd or outlandish behavior.

But what if...always what if. Like a poison in his mind. What if it had been the same for his parents. He didn't really care about other people, they were beneath him after all, in one way or another.

So how did he know, if he truly was different from Dario Brando. He knew the answer, of course. He could feel guilt, after all. Even if the manner of which he tested to see if he could was...rather foolish.

But it proved he was not entirely heartless, that he wasn't fooling himself with a happy fantasy. Dio was sure of this, he just had to keep his method a secret and he could live happily. Live peacefully and quietly.

But, Unfortunately, if he was found at than.

"Dio!' Jojo yelled, stopping Dio's heart as paranoia and fear burned into his mind. If he was found out...did he know.

Dio stashed the mask into his coat and put on his best smile, praying to any god that would listen that Jojo was simply going to bother him about some artifact in a civilization of barbarians who couldn't adapt to civilization that he had found. and not say the five words that would ruin his dream of the future.

"Yes Jojo?" He asked calmly "What is it that's so urgent? I was just reading some stories Miss Barret decided to share with me, and some...rather outlandish theories"

Jojo's eyes were filled with a certain resolve, that only made Dio feel as if he was backed into a corner.

"I have proof, that my father is not merely falling ill, but rather is the victim of poisoning" Jojo said confidently. Dio cursed in his mind, closing his eyes

"Ah?" He said, unable to hide his dread in his voice "What kind of proof do you have that such a horrid thing has..is happening as we speak?"

"Erina confirmed my fears, I wrote to her of father's symptoms, and she wrote back detailing the substance that would cause them, exactly as they are present in your father" Jojo said, throwing down a letter that Dio glanced down, expecting to see a familiar name written upon it confirming his fears.

Bugger, there it was. Dio's mind began to race to find an escape route, that wouldn't deny him the future he so craved.

"My god" He said, cupping a hand over his mouth, trying to by himself some time "That's terrible, for all these years...I..I would have never expected"

"It's possible it was an accident, as the poison is used in certain oriental folk remedies" Jojo explains as a great weight lifts from Dio's shoulders. There was his out, he could simply act as though it was an honest mistake if his involvement was figured out. He already proved to himself he could care for others, like he did Anna, all he had to do was make a show of his guilt and nothing more would come of it.
cont
>>
>>4562620
He had to carefully choose when to reveal his "mistake" otherwise, Jojo, ever quick to leap to the defense of his loved ones, might believe he was trying to actually kill his father. It was a danger, but he had been very careful with the dosages he used. Being a murderer, after all, would make it hard to live peacefully and quietly with his beloved. Especially as Anna would turn against him if she learned of his crime, she had always had a strong sense of justice...almost as strong as Jojo's.

He could act like he was afraid to just admit to admit his guilt after learning the "truth" of the Chinese "Medicine" he has been purchasing every winter. If he timed it right, it'd be believable, and he could put it behind him.

The only thing that could ruin this plan would be if Jojo knew the man he bought it from. He had long since burned the letter his father sent. as it stood, if Jojo had suspicions of his intent, it'd be his word against his.

But if he somehow found Wang Chan and asked his side of the story, well, Dio would be in a bit more trouble.

"My god" Dio said, not sure what else to say "I've heard of such mistakes before but do you truly think such a thing could happen? or worse someone could be trying to kill your father, despite how good of a man he is"

"It's the only logical explanation, which is why I'm going to investigate any who would sell such a substance, whether as medicine or as it was intended to be used" Jojo say with certainty in his words as Dio's heart stopped beating, but he kept wearing his horrified mask, his mind racing to escape this situation.

Well, its unlikely Jojo could find Wang Chang by himself so its fine, he can confess to his guilt and act as though it was a mistake rather than a test of his empathy carried out over the years and his life would continue as planned.

"They'd be in London wouldn't they? That's the only place in Britain I could imagine having some china man plying his wares " Dio asked, suppressing a stray thought of reaching for a letter opener and striking Jojo, that was the action of a cornered animal after all. He was in no danger. And Jojo could easily fight back if he did do such a stupid thing as attack him over the mere suspicion he'd find out his secret. It'd be incredibly stupid, panic was getting to him. Dio needed to calm down before he acted rashly.

"taking advantage of well meaning men to sell them poison, it'd probably be cheaper than actual medicine" Dio adds, hoping to set up his alibi early, in case Jojo does happen to find exactly what he was looking for. Not like he would, he didn't know he hated him when they were younger, after all. So there was nothing for Dio to worry about.

"Of course, its why I am heading to search for such a crook with Anna, as she has offered to help, considering how close she is with our family and George himself" Jojo says as Dio's feels his heart stop again, but he remains calm.

Damnation! That was much more of a problem than Jojo bumbling around the streets of London without a lead or clue to look.

Anna could track a hare in the middle of winter, she had followed a bear over a mountain once on one of her hunting trips. She could pick up perfume of some Tart who though to try to get close to Dio once, nearly a week after she had tried to seduce him. not that he was at all interested, after all few woman compared to the red haired fire cracker he loved, fewer than there were people who stood as equals with Dio himself.

If there is anyone who can find that peddler of poison on nothing. It'd be Anna, and her temper could either help convince Jojo of his innocence, or ruin their future.

it was always a gamble how Anna would react, sometimes she laughed at teasing, other times it through her into a rage that at times seemed unnatural.

Look away from the knife, Dio told himself, to resist the temptation of the easy way to resolve this problem. Perhaps...he could accompany them, he had all the reason to. And it could cement his "innocence" or allow him to guide the two away from the truth.

He didn't want to kill either of the Joestars, despite not caring for them too much, he had still proven that there was some sense of kinship between himself and the small clan. despite the numerous ways they had looked down upon them.

If he could simply sever such a bond, however thin and weak it may have been. It'd mean he was no better than his father.

But if the only choice he had was betweeb defending his future with Anna or the lives of the Joestars,. It'd be a simple choice, and he'd act without hesitation.

But he was not that desperate, not yet.

"I cannot allow my darling fiance to travel unaccompanied in London, especially considering the killings...of young, beautiful women! I do not mean to say that I believe you to not be a proper escort or that Anna cannot defend herself, But!" Dio shouted passionately, so he'd have a reason to accompany the two of them to London an ensure they did not find the truth, or at least the whole truth "As a man I cannot stay behind while she travels to such a city. I know you understand, Jojo, you've been in love for longer than I have. As a Man, I cannot stand by and let Anna travel to such a dangerous place, even with my best friend"

Jojo smiled

"I thought you'd say something to that effect, we were planning on asking you to come along anyways" Jojo say with an innocent smile , the weight lifting from Dio's shoulders again once again. Well, that's comforting, now they won't be an inkling of suspicion upon him.

"Considering you know London better than either of us, and would know how to avoid standing out" Jojo said friendly, holding his hand out "I knew I could count of you brother, you've always been so helpful and kind"

Dio could swear their was a pang of guilt in his chest for a moment, but brushed it off. This was purely for his and Anna's benefit.

That the Joestars would benefit meant little to nothing to him.

He could claim Mirra suggested the medicine to him, She would go along with the story even if she disliked him. She had as much of a spine as a jellyfish and could be convinced she had given the suggestion. And Anna would defend her to the death, even if she nearly kills her with that stand of hers one day.

Another reason he disliked Mirra, despite her brilliance. She had no conviction, no will. She'd listen to anything Anna said, eventually.

Dio takes Jojo's hand and shakes it

"Of course, I can never repay the debt I owe the Joestars" Dio said, with a confident smile. he had found his way out.

Besides, the notes Mirra sent him spoke of legends of mask being able to revitalize ailing bodies. He might have a way to undo the damage he caused to Mr Joestar to prove he could care for others besides Anna to some extent.

It'd require testing of course. But London was filled with people ailing in the mind and body. It was of little concern to him how, he'd find his test subjects. But he would, if the need for a miracle cure to ensure his future would present itself

You twirl your revolver around your finger, checking its weight. You're dressed in your raggedy hunting coat, inherited from your father...a bit too big for you, and your old flat Cap you bought on the day you met Dio. Besides that, you're dressed as simply as possible, as if you're going on a hunt. Plain black trousers and white shirt, gloves lined with fox fur.

Besides a colorful scarf dad insisted you wear as you went out, as he completely bought the lie that you were just going to London to buy a gift or two and see the city for a while.

And the excuse that you might go hunting for as to why you're bringing along a rifle and revolver. Mom is still too busy planning to notice you're leaving on a trip. She almost cares more about your wedding than you do, at this point.

its really sweet, actually.

Big update with a LOT of new shit.
I had no clue Mirra felt that way towards Anna, but it makes sense. Anna's the first friend she ever had, and is a total tomboy anyways.
The possibility of George Joestar becoming a vampire is honestly intimidating. George already knows about hamon from the journal, and he's pretty intelligent. If the mask erodes his morality and his trusting nature, he'd be situated well to being a craftier kind of vampire - not one like dio that openly eats everyone in the countryside, but the kind that hires new servants that go missing once in a while, and subtly hypnotizes people to bring wealth and success to his family. A man as old as George even has good excuses for not going outside when it's bright.

But its probably going to take awhile for Jojo and Dio to come by carriage. After all they'll have their own preparations to make, and might get delayed by getting caught up in a conversation about who knows what. Of course, you doubt they'll take as much time as you've taken, since neither of them are too fond of firearms or actually own any as far as you know. Still, you have more than enough time to get some practice in, since Jojo and Dio always find something to discuss for what seems like hours and hours. And who knows, could be a tree feel on the road between The Joestar Manor and your family's estate.

Even if there's nothing to slow or impede their carriage on the way over to collect you, you still have an excess of time and waiting around doing nothing is oh so boring. So why not spend the time you'll be waiting anyways doing something productive.

Like practicing your aim. It has after all been a little while since you've used this revolver, what with your exploration into more primitive hunting methods, it'd pay to make sure you haven't gotten rusty. Besides, its always fun to shoot a few rounds off, should be enough entertainment to keep you from getting too restless.

So you've gathered a few empty wine and whiskey bottles, setting them out on the frost and snow covered ground in your mother's currently dead garden. Since the Gardener will just clean up any glass shards that get left behind from your practicing.

But shooting stationary targets, isn't fun or really helpful. Now moving targets, that really sharpens the aim and is a bit more exciting than just blasting bottles lined up on the grass.

Not to mention its more challenging, to shoot a a flying target in the few moments before it shatters on the ground. It'll be a nice way to make sure you haven't lost your touch, just in case you run into trouble. Cause trouble isn't going to stand around waiting for you to line up a shot or anything silly like that.

So, you grab one of the bottles that used to hold nice French wine, probably older than you are, and with a flick of your wrist send it soaring into the air. Shooting your other hand to your hi, you quick draw your revolver and raise it into the air.

In about half a second you press your thumb against the hammer and cock it. Then with just a twitch of your finger, it fires. The quiet of early winter is shattered as the round flies from the barrel, a flash accompany it alongside the incredibly loud bang.

And through the ringing in your ears, you can hear glass shatter after the telltale ping of metal striking against it. And what a beautiful sight it makes. The Shards falling to the earth and catching the sun's light, sparkling and sending down beams of green colored light.
cont
>>
>>4563351

The combination of these sounds, the sight of the glimmering glass and the scent of gunpowder gets the fire in your veins flowing. Smoke and steam starts to fill your head, blanking out your thoughts as a grin creeps over your lips followed by a warmth that reaches and settles into your cheeks.

It feels like there's a fire in your head, but its a pleasant burn. The heat of joy instead of the blinding burn of anger. Without thinking, you grab a whiskey bottle and flick it into the air, following its arc as you cock your revolver.

It vanishes with another thunderous clap, shards of glass raining down on the empty flower bed.

For some reason you start laughing, as you crouch down to grab a wine bottle to break more glass just for the fun of it and to hear that lovely sound of BANG followed shortly by cracking glass. Its like music, you could listen to that sound all day.

This bottle you toss at an angle, sending it spinning through the air like a frisbee. And you take a second longer to line up your aim before taking the shot. Just to see if you can manage to shoot off its neck without breaking the rest of the bottle.

The shot rings out, and time seems to slow its pace, for a moment you swear you can actually track the bullets path through the air. Then after a second that feels as long as a several, the tell tale ping of metal slamming into glass reaches your still ringing ears.

And then breaking glass. Your heart stops for a moment, then leaps like it's trying to punch through your chest. In the air, a half broken neck of a wine bottle twists and twirls to the ground as the rest of the bottle flips around and starts to plummet.

YOU DID IT! YOU DID IT! YOU KNEW YOU COULD! WHAT A SHOT, WHAT A SHOT! Your heat is pounding in your chest, you can feel your blood boil as it courses from your chest and up your arms to your hands and ending at your fingers, making them go a little numb.

The revolver feels weightless now in your hand. And as the bottle breaks against the ground, your thoughts run out of your mouth as you scream and cheer them excitedly, bouncing from your heels to your toes caught up in the rush of landing such a precise shot.

"I DID IT! I DID IT!" You howl, punching your revolver in the air, careful to keep you finger away from its trigger as you do so. Even if it isn't cocked, its still a good idea to be careful when handling fire arms.

Don't want to put a hole in one a window or one of the help after all. But you're more than confident in your skill and aim now, since it turns out you weren't even slightly rusty.

Twirling your revolver around your finger, you move to empty the spent bullets from its chamber when old Hubert suddenly coughs behind you. you point the revolver to the ground as you whip around, smiling and trying to hear what he's saying.
cont
>>
>>4563370

You pick out your ear and cup your free hand around it to show you didn't understand what he said, so he clears his throat and waits a few moments for the ringing in your head to stop. While you wait for your sense of hearing to right itself, you reload your revolver without looking away from Hubert.

"I said" He says as your hearing returns to normal "That Mr Brando and Mr Joestar have arrived and asked if you would wish to accompany them on a trip to London to do some...shopping?"

Hubert raises an eyebrow as he finishes that sentence, clearly suspicious of the reasons for your little trip since he's known you for all your life and knows better than to take what you say you're going to do as fact. Especially after you said you went to go flower picking and got into a brawl cause some bastards were picking on Mirra.

Pretty sure you got a teeth lodged into your knuckles that time.

"Oh yes, I made plans with them didn't I?" You say, twirling your revolver around before stuffing it into your coat pocket, grabbing the good hunting rifle you've decided to take along for extra protection. Its one of your favorites, since its the one you used to hunt your first bear.

What a beautiful creature it was, so many people think they're mindless brutes, but really they're quite gentle and passive creatures so long as you don't antagonize them.

Wait did Hubert say something?

You glance back at him, stopping mid step to do so

"The rifle, why are you taking a rifle to London?" He asks, with a worried verging on horrified look on his face

"Oh in case I" You say, pausing as you almost say what you're actually going to use it for "In case I get the urge to go hunting on the trip there or back, want to show Jojo how to use one of these some day anyways"

Hubert looks at you, with a blank expression

"Well, just remember that there's nothing to hunt in the city" he says jokingly, either buying your excuse or deciding its better not to question your actions.

You snort, stopping a giggle as Hubert shuffles away, glancing back at you once as you practically skip over to the gate and to the carriage sitting outside of it.

The door is open so you just leap inside, nearly running into Dio as he steps out to greet you.

"Anna" He says happily, before noticing your rifle in your hands "Anna?"

"Extra protection" You answer with a grin, sitting down across from Jojo and thus next to Dio. His eyes don't leave your rifle as you stash it on the floor. And just then you notice your fiance is wearing an absolutely garish cape or is it a cloak? Maybe a mantle? Well what ever it is, it is shockingly purple and has pink feathers on it surrounding the collar.

You smile, trying not to laugh at you darling's taste in fashion, before turning to Jojo and seeing he's wearing a deerstalker hat which...does not fit him at all.

"I hope you don't plan on taking that out of the carriage, Anna" Jojo says as Dio sits next to you.

"Well, it'd certainly make it easier to get answers, few men can stay quite with a rifle aimed at their face" Dio says blithely, before chuckling and shaking his head "...extra protection?"

Dio turns to you, with a curious tone to his voice. You just pull your revolver out and say nothing

"Oh of course" He says with a shrug, glancing to Jojo before smirking "You don't seem surprised, usually you'd raise a fuss"

"Where we're going to look for answers is dangerous, I can condone her bringing a fire arm for protection" Jojo says simply

"Smart of you to do, London is quite the dangerous place as you yourself said" Dio says with a nod

"Well you've told us stories about it, we'd be idiots not to be prepared" You say before glancing between your friend and darling "And the two of you don't need any extra protection"

"I brought a knife, just in case" Dio says, stowing his hand away into his coat "Though I wouldn't have said no to a revolver, to be honest"

"I just want to try to avoid any confrontations we might end up in" Jojo says stoically, looking out the small window in the door.

What do you do?
[] Tease Dio and Jojo about their taste in fashion
[] clean your revolver again to try and calm your nerves

I still think around the Brando home would be a good idea, but I can see how that might be difficult for Dio, revisiting that place.

Better to be over-prepared than the opposite.

I know this is thinking about things waaaaay down the line but I've just come up with a genius idea. What if Steel Ball Run Anna was Australian? It fits way too fucking well not to work. I can envision it already, Anna with a huge Crocodile skin draped over her shoulder, a memento from a lifetime spent in untamed bush country, entering the race with no dreams of wealth or glory, merely entering because she thought a cross-country horse race would be fun. Anna following Gyro because she wants to find out how to make a man kill himself with a metal ball. Anna drinking heavily and sexually harassing Diego during the middle of the race. Anna trying to get Johnny and Gyro to try Jenkem. Anna taking a detour in an attempt to find bigfoot and accidentally winning the stage. It seems absolutely perfect.

Alright, Asking Dio where you should start your search in wins

I'll throw in the light teasing about Jojo and Dio's fashion sense as well, cause it was only one less vote and is near enough to half. Cause I can.

Oh my god, that would be amazing. I'll have to remember that for steel ball run. Aussie Anna sounds incredibly fun. For some reason I imagine her with a spear, probably cause of the crocodile skin cape thing you suggested. It'd be one hell of a ride.

Also SBR Anna infected by scary monsters. Horrifying thought

And for some reason, the sight of his ridiculous looking deerstalker from this new angle is the final straw on the camels back. It just looks so silly, the flaps, the little bow on top. It makes him look like a prized sheep or horse. You bite your lip, covering your mouth to try your best to not laugh at one of your best friends and your Fiancé, simply because they decided to dress ridiculously!.

Dio notices before Jojo and turns to you as you struggle to keep from laughing, steam filling your head trying to force you to let go and laugh and poke and pester the two of them for dressing like a circus act.

"What's so funny all of a sudden? it couldn't be the idea of getting into a potentially deadly fight, could it?" Dio asks, sounding a little concerned with your muffled giggles and snorting. The feathers on his coat dance, moving like a peacock performing a mating display, shaking and dancing with his every movement.

And that's when you lose it and start laughing loudly, which is when Jojo realizes somethings happening to make you turn manic.

"Anna?" He asks, as you try to stop from saying what's one your mind, but a wave of amusement and disbelief destroy the little self control you have

"What's gotten you so amused?" Dio asks, tilting his head slightly in confusion, unknowingly mimicking the mannerisms of a crow. That's what he looks like! A puffed up pink crow! that makes you laugh harder, but you stop yourself by biting your knuckle

"What are the two of you wearing?" You ask through your teeth and knuckles, which muffles you voice and slurs your words a little "You both look ridiculous. That hat, Jojo it just doesn't fit your body, or your face. Where did you get that? It makes you look a rabbit with a bow tied to their head"

You use your hands to mimic bouncing bunny ears by your head as Jojo adjusts his hat, pouting with a little frown and rose pink cheeks

"Its a very nice hat, its just not my usual choice is all, I figured it'd help keep my ears warm and hide my identity if there really is a conspiracy against my father" Jojo says, clearly embarrassed to hell and back as you keep giggling. You can't stop despite your best efforts to, you just keep shaking with laughter and howling, And worst of all you can't keep yourself from speaking your mind.

Dio smirks and then frowns as he grips your wrist, a little tighter than usual

"Darling, you said both of us" He says with a fake grin as you turn to him, still quaking with every laugh to leave your belly. Looking it his handsome bronze eyes, as he stares back into yours he goes silent.

And without thinking, you start talking "Pink crow, pink crow! it looks like you have a peacocks tail feathers stitched to your chest! fluffing up and prancing about, its even funnier than Jojo haaaaaoow"

He squeezes your wrist, with a cold look in his eyes and an annoyed look on the rest of his face.

"Says the woman in a coat three sizes too big for her, you look like a child" Dio says back, loosening his grip as you pout, and them childishly stick your tongue out at him "And are acting like one! This is a nice coat, if you hate it so much I'll wear it to our wedding"

"Don't don't, I'll laugh myself dead on the altar!" You say loudly, mostly to tease Dio a little more. Jojo snorts, drawing both your attention as he laughs openly and happily. Which is rare cause he's usually so reserved and gentlemanly.

"He's right, you look like a little girl playing pretend" Jojo heckles "not saying that Dio's coat isn't garish but...you just look so imature, with the laughing, the oversized coat and vivid pink scarf"

"Wanna swallow your teeth joestar!" You yelp angrily, feeling your cheeks burn with shame as you realize that you're dressed just a silly as Jojo and Dio. Dio puts an arm over your chest, keeping your from leaping at Jojo as he continues laughing.

"Sorry, sorry, my apologies, but I couldn't keep my opinion to myself, The way you laughed while buried in that coat was simply too amusing" Jojo says meekly, keeping himself from laughing at you with a mirthful smirk on his lips and a glimmer of light in his blue, blue eyes.

"Oh like you're one to talk, Anna was right when she called you a rabbit, jojo. That hat makes you look like an overgrown hair" Dio replies, a little irritated sounding but still laughing "Jojo rabbit, Jojo rabbit"

"Kick yer ass!" you yell as Dio pushes you back against the chair, your head full of fire and steam, but due to how much smaller you seemed under that big coat you've borrowed your threats just end up making Jojo laugh again.

Especially since Jojo was a brick wall of a man, just like Dio was.

"Who wears feathers on their coat like that? were you planning on visiting a masquerade ball while we combed London?" Jojo asks "And now you're like a little kid, Dio!"

"Oh the rabbit is upset" Dio laughs as Jojo shakes his head, laughing still as you snarl and try to squirm out from under Dio's arm.

"Oh I needed that laugh, thank you Anna" Jojo says, your name managing to get you thinking besides of how to hit Jojo's smirk of his face "Sorry for my rudeness, but I felt it was only fare"

"I'd watch my back if I was you, She's quite fiesty right now" Dio says teasingly, so you pinch his side. He doesn't even yelp or wince in pain

"See?" He says with a smug smirk "Come on Anna, its only fair if you make fun of us, we can do the same to you"

"I wouldn't say it is" Jojo mutters, glancing back to the window "But it helped relieve some of the stress I was feeling, at least, even if I acted like a little kid myself just now"

"You're both prats" You grumble, making both of them laugh. Dio brushes the hair near your ear up, and you consider biting his hand.

But then he whispers

cont
>>
>>4564736
"I'll make it up to you later" He says, and the rage burning in your heart is replaced with embarrassment and a tingle of anticipation

"Don't try to be sweet with me" You hiss as he smirks gently and move his arm away from you, but you don't move to hit either of them, and just pout.

"Sorry again, Anna" Jojo says, still cheerfully and amused by your tantrum.

"I'll apologize when she does" Dio says bluntly, crossing his arms

You snort, but start to calm down. Which is why after a few minutes of fuming, you decide you'll grace Dio by talking to him despite him not saying sorry for his teasing and taunting. Jojo is still looking out the window, lost in his thoughts and occasionally smirking or giggling, no doubt remembering your outburst each time he does.

"So, Darling" You snap, still keeping your arms wrapped around your legs "Any idea where we should start looking when we get to London? You used to live there, didn't you"

"And visited it a few times since the Joestars welcomed me in their home, yes" Dio says with a nod "But what you're asking is if I know where illicit dealings take place, assuming that I know the seedy underbelly of the city like the back of his hand"

You raise an eyebrow and shoot him a judging look.

"Dio, one of the first things you told me was you learned how to fight in London" Jojo says before you can speak up and say something rude to your darling

"Well" Dio says, turning his head away from the two of you

"And you know how to make explosives, pick locks, juggle knives" You chime in as Dio's smirk turns into a cocky grin "Taught me how to pick pockets one time"

"Dio" Jojo says like a father scolding his son.

"Well I may have some experience with the darker alleys and meaner streets of London" Dio says coyly, fluttering his eyes as he rests his chin on the back of his fist, looking out at the country side as he does so "Also you said you wouldn't tell a soul about that little trick, Anna"

Dio gently flicks your ear, and you shove your elbow into his side

"That was what, four years ago, I forgot, but come on, this is serious. Me and Jojo are...well" You say, glancing to Jojo as he sighs

"A little sheltered, we've never had to live like you did, and wouldn't know where to begin, please" Jojo says, bowing his head "We need your advise, your experience with those kind of people who'd sell poison...as you put it many time, with the mean streets of London"

"Sorry, I know, this is a grave matter" Dio says with a nod, glancing to Jojo "But London is a big city, even if I tell you where I think we could find such a store, it'll take awhile to find it and if we start asking well"

Dio takes a breath through his nose and closes his eyes.

"Well we'll be kicking a hornet's nest" He adds "if there's one thing about Londoners, they hate when outsiders come snooping, even if they dislike whoever they're looking for. Especially rich boys from the countryside"

"I am aware, which is exactly why we need your help more than anything, Dio" Jojo says almost as soon as Dio finishes speaking, almost pleading "anything would help, just a general area, a district or part of the city. Anything, we don't expect you to know where something as devilish as poison would be sold but"

"I know where in London things of similar nature can be bought, black markets and the like. the worst scum in england" Dio says plainly, not opening his eyes "You don't have to beg me to help your father, just by coming along I've promised to do whatever I can, I'm just warning you that...well the two of you may be in danger if you go those places"

"And? I came along expecting that, danger means nothing to me, you know that Dio" You say proudly, smiling confidently as Dio nods "There's a lot of things I do that are dangerous for fun, this at least has a purpose outside of an adrenaline rush or laugh. I'd happily get stabbed or shot if it meant saving Mr Joestar"

Dio groaned

"Please do not go that far, I couldn't bear to see such a thing" Dio mutters, grimacing as Jojo sighs

"I'm just on edge" Jojo said, sounding ashamed "The idea of coming back with nothing, not even a clue or idea of where this poison is coming from, is killing me inside. I'd lay my life down for my father, and either of you"

"Of course" Dio says with a nod "I would as well, but it may be safer if I check those...seedier parts of London by myself, just for both of your safety. If a rich boy or lady walks those streets, well they're just asking to be robbed or worse. and I could not live with myself if such a thing happened"

"I am not concerned with my safety, if it means my father becomes well again, I'd slit my own throat" Jojo says confidently

"Jesus christ" you gasp, smiling and feeling proud for the guts your friend has "And yeah, a lady might, but Dio, remember"

"You are no lady" He chuckles, shaking his head as he opens his eyes again

"YEP! Let em try to steal from me or "worse" I'll just put those bastard thugs to the ground" You say confidently as well "Since they're trying to stop us from helping George, I'll have no guilt at all"

Jojo's eyes fall on the pocket you've hidden your revolver in

"But let's hope it doesn't come to that" Jojo says sternly as you stick you hand into the very same pocket.

"Come what may, I'll be ready" You say bluntly, turning away to avoid Jojo's piecing gaze

"I do not doubt that either of you would be so cowardly as to listen to me, but I implore you to do so. It'd be dangerous, perhaps even deadly" Dio says, pleading, almost begging the two of you to listen to his advise to stay safe and not risk your health and lives.

Alright, so pointing out to Dio that he's still being vague and not saying WHERE is dangerous wins.

Bluntly telling him you can't just not go and lying to say you won't but then investigating on your own are tied, so I'll probably include the choice between going off on your own, or sticking with Jojo/ Dio in another vote, maybe the next.

"Where?" You ask pretty bluntly, leaning to rest your head against Dio's shoulder as you speak "You keep talking about how dangerous it is, but you still haven't told us where exactly in London this dangerous or perhaps even "Deadly" Place is. Or even its name"

"She's right, you're being rather vague, and just saying some place is dangerous does little to prepare us for entering it" Jojo says calmly, clasping his hands together and setting them on his lap.

"its not like all the crime and scum in London gather in one set location, there are districts that are grimier than the rest, with the absolute dregs of humanity living inside them" Dio explains after letting a sigh escape his lips, as he turns to look out the small window set in carriage door.

"Murderers, thieves, conmen, rapists" Dio says, raising his hand up as a fist and lifting a finger for each example he gives "or worse inhabit the rookeries of London, acting as if they're their own territory, like animals"

You perk up at the mention of territory and animals, no curious about how exactly a bunch of thugs and blackguards are anything like the noble beasts of nature.

"Its a metaphor" Dio explains, nodding his head once "As the criminals who stalk those slums act like territorial beasts gone rapid, attacking any outsider or otherwise assaulting them"

"God" Jojo says, pressing his closed first against his lips as he listens "that sounds terrible, but surely those brutes just do so because there's no other way for them to live, yes?"

"For some of them, but most are simply cruel, evil men" Dio says, turning to face his adoptive brother now "Some might be driven to such a foul existence because of poverty, but they alone choose to act the brute, to act the"

Dio pauses midsentence and takes a moment before he speaks again, like he decided against using a certain word. Probably animals, since he knows how much you respect nature and all of god's creatures.

"Barbarian" Dio says as Jojo frowns "

"Perhaps" Jojo says, almost sadly, as he turns his eyes to the window again, rubbing his chin in thought "So, these rookeries, that is where we'll be searching? In the slums, filled with unfortunates"

"And villains" Dio adds, lifting up a finger and wagging it in the air "Don't feel pity or they'll eat you alive like piranhas"

"Piranhas don't attack healthy prey" You speak up, sitting back up straight "They only prey upon gravely injured or already dead animals, and other wise just subsist on a diet akin to most other fish"

Dio turns to you with raised eye brows

"Really?" He asks. You just nod in reply

"Huh, wonder why there are so many stories of them attacking men and devouring them down to their very bones?" Jojo asks, still rubbing his chin.

"People are Morons?" You suggest, shrugging your shoulders as you lean back in the seat "Same reason people go to Mirra and pay her to contact the dead or read their fortune in tea leaves"
cont
>>
>>4565832

"I though you believed in all the little mysticisms and theatrics she preforms day by day" Dio teases, a smirk on his lips and a glint in his eyes

"Better safe than sorry" You snort, looking him in the eyes "And she was right about Sendo, Hamon, and Stands. So whose to say she isn't right about the rest?"

"Well, that's a little different than fortune telling. A little more concrete" Dio says dully, rolling his eyes

"She has been right more often than not" You say with a smirk, while dio's smirk turns upside down

"Well, that could be explained rather easily" Dio says, trying to come up with an excuse for Mirra's other talents "Vague statements and predictions, easy to apply to near anything that happens to lend credence to the authenticity of her readings"

"She's been rather specific in some of her predictions" Jojo says as he puts his hands on his lap again "so, that reasoning doesn't apply with her"

"You're just scared that her readings a few months ago will be true" You say teasingly, rubbing your elbow into Dio's side

"Tch, why would I be afraid of parlor tricks" Dio deflects "but as I was saying, the slums of london aren't the kind of place you can be friendly, or kind. The smallest show of weakness will alert every crook stalking the streets that you're easy prey"

"Well, are any specific slums from these distracts you'd expect to find a purveyor of poisons or oriental medicines?" Jojo asks, not sounding concerned at all the search will present. And you aren't either! You've faced down bears and charging boars, you're planning on going on a Safari to hunt Lions someday. Men do not scare you no matter how "Evil" or "brutish" they are.

Civilization, no matter how terrible, is still civilized. The [Rules of nature] are far more uncaring than even the dirtiest and vilest of slums, after all. Eat or be eaten, survive or die. No matter how brutal a man may be, they do not truly follow those rules.

But you have. That means you're more dangerous than them, right?

"Anna, I know that smile, you're thinking you're tougher than any of the criminals of London for some reason or another" Dio says, tearing your from your thoughts as he talks with a scolding tone "That attitude will make you stand out, it's a challenge to those kind of people"

"Well, is it wrong? You've known me for what? Seven years?" You ask cockily, grinning as you put your arms behind your head to use as a rest "You know I'm tough"

"Being cocky will just paint a target on your back" Dio says gently, trying to urge you not to act like your usual boisterous self "Listen, darling, these men aren't the kind to back down because of a shout or shattered jaw"

"Like Benjamin, or Mark?" You ask with a now manic grin on your lips, remembering you childhood bouts with the local boys

"Poor benny" Jojo mutters, shaking his head "He had to get dentures at the tender age of fourteen because of you Anna"
cont
>>
>>4565843

"Shouldn't have kept asking for a fight, at least Mark knew when he was outmatched" You reply, shrugging your shoulders. Don't really care about Benjamin, he has always been annoying and a wimp and coward. Even now that's he's a man

"Even if it took having to get stitches to realize it" You add with a chuckle.

"Or any of the other children you brutalized in the ring" Jojo adds, rocking his head to the side

"Oh you did worst, you and Dio hit harder than I ever did" You say through your teeth "I just had longer fights is all, you gave quite a few boys concussions, remember"

"Regrettably" Jojo sighs "But Dio is right, these kind of men aren't the kind to be intimidated by a show of force or blustering"

"What about a gun?" You ask sweetly

"That'd just make it worse!" Jojo shouts, covering his eyes with his palms "It'd simply escalate the danger they present"

"Gun" You reply simply "Beat knife"

"Well ignoring my fiancés confidence" Dio interjects, to get the conversation back on track on the matter of finding the bastard whose been selling the poison that's brought Mr Joestar so low for who knows how long "I'd suggest we start our search in the less dangerous parts of London first, where the criminals aren't so brutish and heartless, where Jojo would be right to pity the poor souls living in such squalid conditions"

"And where Anna will be less likely to shoot someone" Jojo says with a smile, but he doesn't sound like he's joking. You just snort and cross your arms "I mean no offense, but even if its done in self defense, I'd rather not see a dear friend of mine kill someone, no matter how terrible they may be"

Yeah, despite your boasting and confidence, you don't wanna have to shoot another person either but...Well survival of the fittest. if You';re in danger you aren't just not going to defend yourself. You decide to keep quite however, so as not to upset Jojo when he's already going through enough troubles

"Yeah yeah. I know. I know" Is all you say in reply.

"Well, it isn't safe so don't expect not to be mugged or attack just for how you walk or speak" Dio says, wagging his finger again "But, it'll be safer than say, Ogre street"

Ogre street?"

"Ogre street?" You and Jojo ask almost in unison.

"The most dangerous part of London and the home of some of the worst examples of humanity" Dio explains, folding his hands together as he does "It's said to be cursed, and while I am a little skeptical of such things since our friend Mirra has inured to them, I actually believe they may be right. It's a lawless place, where men have been killed for simply taking the wrong turn, where cats eat puppies"

"Well....depending on the age of the pup" You start, before deciding to shut up from the tense atmosphere that has filled the carriage since Dio started talking about Ogre street.
cont
>>
>>4565858

"Any kind of vice, illegal substance or contraband can be found in Ogre street, but it is so fraught with danger, we will not step foot there unless we have no other option" Dio continues on, ignoring your interruption as he speaks with a stern and grim tone to his words "Drugs, explosives, prostitutes, poisons, even some witchcraft from the rumors I've heard. There are more blackmarkets and conmen than honest men in Ogre street"

"Sounds like the place we should look first" Jojo says without a hint of fear in his voice

"If you wish to get lost in its maze, it'd be smarter to avoid it entirely, but I fear we may find the answers we seek in those streets" Dio says glumly, bowing his head sadly, before sighing "Which is why we should comb the safer slums first, to be sure we do not step into that hellhole needlessly"

What do you do?
[] start to rant about how cats eating a newborn pup wouldn't be that unusual, now that doesn't feel so tense in here
[] Ask Dio about the stories he's heard of Ogre street, so you can decide for yourself it its dangerous
[] "You know, I wish Mirra was here. If she was just a little sturdier, her stand would be a lot of help"
[] Agree that Dio's plan is probably smarter than just diving into hell on earth on the first day of your investigation

"Yeah, I have to agree with Dio, it'd be a lot smarter to check the places where we're less likely to get assaulted or robbed first" You say, nodding your head once, kicking your legs back and forth to keep from getting restless on the journey to London, and to make sure they don't go numb sitting still for so long.

"Oh I wasn't suggesting we head straight for Ogre street, but if it is the worst part of London, then it stands to reason there's a higher chance of us finding a lead there than the better off slums" Jojo explains, nodding once himself "though I hope we don't have to venture into such a terrible place, but if we cannot find the seller we're searching for anywhere else in London, well we'll have no other choice"

"Exactly, better to leave it for last" Dio answers, clenching one of his hands into a fist and unfurling it to keep it from getting numb since he's been resting his weight against it for awhile now. Probably needs to stretch his fingers to get blood flowing into them again .

"If the source is in Ogre street or another rookery, we can find out by carefully asking around, rather than just wandering through the refuse pit of London like a pack of blind dogs" Dio says, tapping his hand against the wall of the carriage now. Jojo nods in agreement.

"Which is not only a safer approach, but an easier one as well. We're more likely to find answers by asking rather than simply looking for them" Jojo says, adjusting his hat by its brim to make it sit more comfortably on his head "And if nothing else, experiencing the atmosphere of the "safer" slums will prepare us for venturing into ogre street, if we must"

"Yeah like how to avoid being stabbed or how to know when you're about to be stabbed" You say cheerfully, trying to lift the mood and raise not only your spirits but those of your dear friends as well.

It makes Dio snicker at least, Jojo just shakes his head, but you think you saw a little bit of a smile on his lips when he did.

"So we're all in agreement then? That we'll begin the search cautiously, investigating the less lawless and dangerous rookeries first, so as to avoid needlessly putting ourselves into harms way?" Jojo asks, glancing from you to Dio, his expression frozen yet brimming with resolve and bravery "But if we must, we will brave ogre street or any other dangerous hive of crime and sin without complaint or fear"

"Without fear, but with caution" Dio adds with a nod "After all, it may be hell on earth, but wouldn't any of us march into hell itself for George"

"I would without a second of hesitation" Jojo says with a nod. You smirk, and move your arms from behind your neck and cross them

"I'd do it twice over for the old man, and three times if either of you got lost in there" You say boisterously, smiling widely

"I know you would Anna, it is one reason you're one of my dearest friends, after all" Jojo says happily, returning your smile

"And you as well Dio, I know neither of you would ever abandon me in a time of need, during a crisis like this. I just want both of you to know how deeply I treasure our long friendship, when I was alone, you two have always been by my side"

Jojo sniffs, struggling to maintain his stiff up lip, even wiping a handkerchief under his eye as he tries to keep his composure.

"I can not put my gratitude into words" He says, covering his mouth with the strip of silk, closing his eyes. His voice cracked by the sheer weight of emotion he felt at the moment. It was enough to bring tears to your own eyes, which you tried to discreetly wipe away.

"Of course, we're practically brothers" Dio replies simply, with a smirk still on his lips.

"Ya...ya know if Mirra could help she would" You blubber, overcome with emotion yourself suddenly "And Erina would to! I'm sure of it"

"I'm sure they would, but...Erina is so far away and Mirra well" Jojo says, trailing off as his starts sounding even sadder

"Isn't exactly the bravest of women" Dio says, finishing his sentence for him "And the power she wields, if she were to lose control of it as she has in the past. Well I don't need to tell either of you how bad of an outcome that would be"

Images of men frozen solid in the street, entire buildings consumed by ice flash before your eyes. Mirra may not be very courageous, but what she can do with her soul stuff is quite...dreadful.

"Yeah" You reply, shaking your head to clear away those macabre thoughts that suddenly came rushing to your head

Jojo closes his eyes and shudders.

"I haven't seen that...ability of hers before, but I can imagine what devastation it could wrought if it became uncontrolled" He mutters, opening his eyes again "and telling her would have only panicked poor Mirra anyways"

"Yep, she'd go up the wall if she knew. Probably would blame herself for not noticing" You agree, stuffing your hands into your pockets as it got a little colder in the carriage.

it was probably just your imagination though. There really wasn't much more to do or say, besides waiting to arrive at London. it'd was going to take forever, a long painful wait. Nerve wracking. But you could handle it, if worse came to worse you could try to sleep through the ride over to keep from getting stressed.

London is terrible. It reeks. You cannot understand how the people walking its street aren't sickened by the stench this jungle of stone, plaster and iron exudes like a foul musk or as if the brick and stonework themselves were sweating. The air is clogged with smoke, the smell of burning oils and gas, and fouler scents still. Vomit, alcohol, stale meat and bread, rotting cheese. And sweat, a choking stench of rancid sweat that someone couldn't be bothered to wipe off themselves. You're in a clean part of the city, as clean as it can be you suppose, and its already hard for you to breath through your nose or mouth.

Its assaulting your senses, the clouds of smog and smoke, the waves of new disgusting smells and the crowds. Good lord the crowds! its unnatural! It's like a slaughterhouse, everyone is so tightly packed together! That'd be enough to upset you, and make you uncomfortable. But the smell, the smell is by far worse. Stale piss, Manure, cooking soap meeting rotting grease. It just makes you feel ill. All these nasty aromas mixing with a few pleasant ones, like perfume upon a corpse.

You groan, wrapping your scarf around your poor tormented nose, you're sharp sense of smell for once acting more like a handicap than an advantage. There's dog running in the streets, and they don't seem to mind. Has every living creature in this city just lost their sense of smell?! how can anyone live here?!

You've been to cities before, traveled farther than either Jojo or Dio or anyone you know besides Erina and your father. But they weren't like London, not filled with herds of men walking like sheep, or this ever changing aroma that makes you want to vomit just to make sure the stench hasn't gotten caught inside of you. It's a nightmare! a nightmare! a crime against nature and humanity! Why is no one else reacting to how horribly this city smells? how can they stand being packed together like tinned fish?!

It's hellish.

"Are you okay, darling?" Dio asks, kneeling by your side to look into your eyes as you whine, staring ahead at a veritable school of workers marching off to their work "You seem distressed? Is something bothering you?"

He frowns and presses the back of his hand against your forehead as Jojo stands besides the two of you, puffing his chest out to keep any prying eyes on him and off of you and Dio.

"You aren't feverish, even though you look it" Dio mutters, worried and pitying the state you're in "Do you need to lie down? get a cup of tea? What's gotten you so panicked, Anna"

"London" You answer through your bright pink scar, muffling your words as you blink and feel a burning sensation in your eyes as you do so, like you had just gotten a face full of smoke "How can the two of you act so calm? It reeks! I can barely stay focused it smells so bad, and these crowds! how can people live like this"
cont
>>
>>4568551

"Ah, I understand now, you're out of your element" Dio says sadly, almost sounding guilty as he gently grabs your hand and rubs his thumb against the back of it "The exact opposite of it, in fact. You've spent so much time in nature this city must seem like a nightmare to you"

"You mean you aren't smelling it? that stench? like a thousand different rancid things covered in a mixture of perfume and smoke?" You ask, your voice raising as Dio shakes his head and sighs.

"Few if anyone else upon this earth has a sense of smell as well trained as yours, Anna, I simply got used to the stench a few minutes after arriving" Dio says, gripping your hand a little tighter "If I had to guess, the fact you can pick out particular smells beneath the general "Aroma" of London, is what keeps you from becoming used to"

You groan.

"If its truly that bad, you can rest in the carriage" Jojo says, glancing over his shoulder to look at the two of you "I won't think any less of you for doing so"

"I'd have to agree with Jojo, if you can barely breath because of what you're smelling, it might be for the best that you turn back before we get deeper into London" Dio says gently, trying to keep from upsetting you or thinking he's insulting you, which is sweet, real sweet.

But you aren't going to back down from something as minor as a bad smell.

"It's fine, I'm just complaining, I'm fine. I'm not gonna back down just cause of a bad smell" You say, wiping your nose with the back of your hand, wincing as you're assaulted by a new hellish scent that's come up from nowhere

"Well there's no use in arguing with you darling, I'll see about finding some medical alcohol, a cloth soaked in that might be able to keep you from noticing all the "Wonderful" scents of London" Dio says, nodding as he stands back up, still holding your hand.

"Perhaps we can find some perfume instead? give her something nice to smell" Jojo suggests.

You snort with laughter

"Don't bother, I can smell beneath perfume, its like a wet coat of paint in the rain, doesn't cover anything for me" You say, tightening the scarf around your mouth and nose a little more tightly "So...Dio, where are we going"

"The nearest slum of course, darling" Dio replies casually, pressing his thumb into the back of your hand as he talks "Can't quite remember the name, but it's the best place to start our search if it hasn't gotten worse over the years"
-

"Couldn't come into the brothel, would be too unseemly for your eyes" You mutter angrily, standing beneath a street light as you hear Jojo and Dio arguing with the old bat that runs the house of sin behind you. Like you were some pure maiden.

By habit and instinct you were watching every one who walked the streets. If only because they all posed some form of danger to you. Your survival instincts, like your senses, were sharper than most, and had gotten even stronger since you started hunting as Nature intended man to do.

There are predators all around, but they kept their distance, if only because they saw you walking with two men who could snap their spines over their knees like they would a stick. The desperate kind, they gave off the same feeling as starving animals. Hungry and with greedy eyes. Another reason they left you alone was probably the fact the most expensive thing you wore was a scarf, and so didn't draw much attention.

A few ladies of the night gave you dirty looks as you stood out of their place of employment, you just return them with a rather rude gesture.

Come to think of it, Dio probably agreed with Jojo that you shouldn't go into the brothel because you might get some ideas if you did. Clever. But still pissed you off.

Sighing, you stuff your hands into your coat's pockets, tapping the grip of your American made revolver for some reassurance. There was a thief on the other side of the street, a pickpocket stalking a man twice his size, a man carrying a butcher's knife beneath his trousers for some reason. And the stall just a few buildings down was selling apples painted red. Lots of scum and villainy. But not the kind you were looking for.

And of course the brothel behind you, according to Dio, like all brothels, had a certain "medicine" to terminate pregnancies, to keep the harlots working. Which is why Jojo insisted you stay outside, well besides the fact it was a den of sin and sex.

Groaning you tilt your head back, mind fuzzy from the overwhelming stench of perfume, opium smoke, tobacco, cheap whiskey and sweat.

And then the back of your head tingled, a little alarm telling you someone was looking at you. Staring at you, watching you. A feeling you knew well.

Particularly, it was the sensation of being stalked by a predator, considered for a meal. One of your fellow members of your hunting club had described the difference between feeling watched and feeling hunted, which he learned while stalking a man eater somewhere in the dark depths of Africa.

Turn your head, your eyes fall onto an alley way, and meet another pair of eyes. The color of wine stains. They do not flinch

There's a man standing there, hands in the pockets of a fine suit that stands out among the destitute surroundings between the two of you. A smile flickers over his lips as he notices you, his full beard, the same odd almost wine stained brown as his eyes stretching as he smiles and shows his teeth.

He looks ordinary, outside of his build and the cleanliness of his clothes. Like he had just wandered into the slum on the way to his work or choice of pub.

(Hunter)

But, he isn't normal. You can feel it, your animal instincts screaming it in your head, as his is no doubt doing as well. It's camouflage, his normality, a clever disguise to avoid attention and move unnoticed.

The man's almost feline features glow with amusement, or perhaps joy, its hard to tell. The screaming of your instincts makes it hard to focus on his face.

for they're telling you of what lies beneath that mask of skin and muscle. This man is a hunter, and he's surrounded by bloodlust. A murderer. It almost seems to wrap around him like cloak.

A hunter, different than yourself. And judging from the look in his eyes, he has recognized you as a fellow predator. But of a different breed. No doubt he was searching for prey before spotting you.

You can hear the old bat running the whore house behind you yelling at Dio or Jojo, no doubt for asking about the poison she forces her girls to guzzle. Must've taken it as an insult.

The murderous man turns on his heel, cackling and shaking his head as he steps back into the shadows. No doubt think he found a kindred spirit.

A quiet voice in the back of your head urges you to ignore the man, while a louder one screams and yells to follow him, since he is almost certainly on the hunt.

What do you do?

And like so many times before, the louder voice wins. That man is almost certainly looking to hurt some one, probably kill them. And while it certainly won't be someone you've met, or care about well, you just can't let that happen as a human being! there is nothing that ignites your burning blood, your temper more than seeing some bully around or hurt someone for no good reason. It might be stupid, foolhardy and a thousand other ways of saying it's a bad idea but if you just stand by and ignore this hunter stalking these dark streets you'd never be able to forgive yourself. It'd be like not alerting a fellow hunter to an enraged bear charging towards him, their blood, whoever he kills would be on your hands as much as it would his.

And you almost just follow the man down the alleyway, but a thought manages to break through the haze of building fury and rage. That yes, just chasing after a man you suspect to be a killer would be one of the stupidest things you've ever done, even counting most of your childhood.

Turning back around on your heel, you vivid red hair whipping around the air behind you and slapping against your cheek from the sudden shift in momentum, you turn to the brothel, were you can still here the old hag trying to desperately hide the fact she's been poisoning the whores that work for her and killing their unborn children.

"Oy! Chasing after someone who looks suspicious and has a dangerous feel about him, I'll catch up later. Can't help myself!" You yell out the window, the argument suddenly going silent as you turn on your heel again and start to sprint towards the alleyway, One hand keeping your hat from flying off your head and another wrapped around the grip of the revolver stowed away in your coat.

You leap over a pile of trash and refuse, soiled clothes and chicken bones, landing perfectly as the soles of your feet start to get in the way of your now usual method of running. They squeak loudly, scraping against the cobbled stone of the alleyway as you instinctively recycle the energy from your feet meeting the ground.

The man's in the shadows, a few yard ahead. A door slams open not far behind. The predator's coat flutters like the tail of a sparrow in flight. He doesn't know you're after him, or doesn't care you're in pursuit.

You don't slow down or stop as he turns the corner, not making a sound as you force yourself to run in a more mundane, normal way. Now it doesn't sound like you're stepping on a rat every time your boots hit the stone lining the alley floor.
The man vanish around a corner, you press your heels down to keep yourself from running straight ahead. Pivoting with your ankle, you whip around and see that the bastard had somehow gotten far enough ahead for you to only see his coattails vanish behind another corner.

He's quicker than you expect, if you didn't have these boots on you could've caught up to him already.

But there's so many shards of glass, nails and other sharp little things lining the ground of London like a million thorns. Grinding your teeth and ignoring the smell, you continue running forward as swift and silent as the wind. But you could be going faster, you could catch this man. If you just weren't wearing these boots.

foot falls echo, doors open, windows close. Your senses are as sharp as they are when you're out on a hunt. You can hear everything happen around you. Including the killer's coat shifting and dancing on the breeze whistling through London's streets.

But despite hearing him like he was but a few more steps ahead, by time you get to the corner, he's at the edge of the alleyway! He's moving just as quickly as you, just as quietly.

Grinding your teeth, you brush away your hair with the back of your hand, to keep your vision from being filled with red locks.

Charging a head, you leap over a group of urchins playing dice, nearly kicking the hat off of one of their heads, by time they could look up, you're turning the corner after the man you know to be a killer. You can practically smell blood every time you close in on him.

"HEY! LADY!?" One of the kids yell at you, you ignore them to keep following your quarry as he continues his own, much darker hunt.

It repeats like this, following the man's coattails down dark alleys and streets, some how always just a few steps behind him. Until, you lose him. Your mind begins to burn with steam and smoke, your instincts screaming along with your thoughts, desperately trying to grasp some clue or lead to which way he could've gone.

Then you hear it, a muffled cry, a scream of pain. To the right, some distance away. The man had been stalking another, not searching for new prey, this entire time.
One you couldn't see, no doubt just a few steps ahead of the man who was surrounded by such an aura of bloodlust. But unlike you, blind to it.

You start sprinting, ignoring the noise your boots make as you race down street and alleyway, leaping and hoping over or on anything that gets in your way. Boxes, barrels, piles of trash, all try to get in your way and slow you down.

But, the streets of London are just as cluttered as they depths of the forest, and you've had years of training moving through the undergrowth. This isn't much different.

turning a corner, in an empty little square like a clearing beneath this forest of stone and iron, you see the man, standing over another figure. And smell blood. it feels like the shadows themselves are trying to wrap around the man, to hide him away.

There's a manic grin on his face, and in his hand glints a knife. One the floor is a young woman, about your age, dressed in a colorful, fluffy dress, with bright, almost gold hair. Like Dio, Like Erina.

your mind goes blank, the second it makes that connection and sees the deep wound in the woman's arm.

And those six words manage to flare up your boiling rage to an even greater height. The only thing keep you from screaming insults and threats, is that you have a much more effective way of showing this son of a bitch exactly how wrong he is to say something like that.

Namely a bullet to his fucking leg. Reacting as quickly as your body is capable of, pulling your hand from the front pocket of your coat. It might make you look absolutely ridiculous and like a little girl playing pretend in her father's coat. And you might be wearing a bright, rose pink scarf that has, like your hair, caught on the wind and is now dancing behind you.

Sure you don't exactly look that intimidating, especially compared to this musclebound bastard who stands a few heads taller than you.

But what you've got in thathand, makes up for the difference in appearance and your shorter more petite stature and somewhat oversized cloak and girly scarf.

Namely an American revolver! Able to stop a boar mid charge, even if you hit it in its notoriously thick skull. It can break bones and makes a suitably loud and ear ringing noise, and it holds six rounds. More than enough to put any rabid dog like the one standing before you down before he has a chance to flee or get too close for comfort.

It takes only about a second for you to draw, and a little longer to aim. Since its a bit dark. In that time, the would be killer realizes what you're doing, and his legs twitch, moving as if he's about to pounce towards you to put that curved knife of his to your throat.

His would be victim is too terrified to even realize you're there, and continues bleeding on the ground. But you don't see her really, her hair has made your anger clouded mind replace her with your two friends with that same color of hair. Namely Dio, but what you remember of Erina's face flashes past your minds eye in this moment that seems to drag on and an on and on.

Pressing your thumb on the hammer, you cock it, and without even thinking about how a gunshot ringing off in the middle of a London slum may attract unwanted attention, you pull the trigger with a single twitch of your finger.

The predator man flashes his teeth at you with a wicked grin. You don't feel your expression change from the snarl of disgust that crept onto your face when he said those six awful, awful words to you.

With a bang that seems to shake the world, the bullet flies, a flash following it. There's a small splash of red, hidden by the darkness of the knight and the shadows the buildings towering above you cast.

The murder's pant leg gains a steadily growing stain of wine red. But he doesn't stop charging you, and is laughing almost panting now, like he didn't feel the piece of lead drive itself into his femur.

What the hell is this guy made out of?! His knife glints as he raises it, his bearded face reminding you of a snarling lion, his teeth looking almost like fangs in the gloom of the alleyway.
cont

>>4570390

And how they hell didn't a fucking bullet to his leg not put him to the ground?! is he just too crazy to feel pain? Pain even slows you down! and you're more stubborn than a mule!

Well just means you have to plug him a few more times before he stops posing a threat. If you can avoid getting stabbed by this utter lunatic, and considering his speed. That's harder said than done, and you still can't exactly think straight after he said you and him were the same.

Overhand stab, aiming for your arm. Even with your mind as hazy and filled with fury and rage as it is, you can think of a few way to keep that blade from hitting its target.

Just like boxing, but with an knife.

And the second that thought passes through your mind, as muddled and hazy as it was, more of an instinctual connection between the man's movements and a boxer's form than anything that could be considered a completely, conscious thought, your body reacts on its own trained by years of boxing and roughhousing with Jojo, Dio and other less impressive specimens, like little Benjamin.

You lean back, not even thinking to do so. The knife missing your shoulder by an inch, before another is drawn and slashed at your thought. Weaving to the side, it sails over your head, and you bob back up. There's a look of confusion on the Feline faced man, who snarls as he doesn't feel the resistance of skin, fat, flesh and bone against his knives.

By habit, as you do whenever you spar or actually fight, you bounce on your heels, swaying slightly in anticipation of a follow up strike. By time you realized what you've done, and the fact the killer didn't manage to hit you, he tries to clip you in the neck again with his first knife, swinging his arm up like an uppercut.

And you merely sway out of the way, catching your reflection in the honed blade's edge. And in that third slash, the man has thrown himself off center, having desperately tried to quickly end your life the moment he realized the danger you, and especially the revolver in your hand, posed to him.

His eyes meets yours, devoid of anything resembling empathy, instead filled with an almost drunk glee, cut with a cold determination. A determination you've seen before, but the fire in your head chases away that thought and forces you to focus on the now rather than pointlessly pondering as you were caught in what may be a battle to the death.

The man's legs twitch, the corded muscle beneath his suit's sleeves pull taught as his arms begin to move. He's moving to strike again. You can practically taste his bloodlust, it feels like a dark shadow trying to swallow you up.
(burning blood)
But, somehow, despite all the rage and restrained fear you're feeling, towards this madman and how eager he is to end your life, there's a certain part of you that is thrilled by the rush of facing off against such a monster. Overjoyed at having such excitement as having your life on the line.

It's almost like a high.

Your vivid red hair falls still and drapes over your shoulders, as your hat falls to the ground having been thrown off sometime during the madman's attack

To add on to this, we ought to try to shoot at his knee or other weight-bearing structure. It's one thing to put a harline fracture in a femur, but it's another thing entirely to obliterate a weight-bearing structure.

Oh course, just because most people don't live as hard of lives as wild animals, doesn't mean their bodies don't follow the same basic rules! It slipped your mind, or more likely skipped it entirely with how furious and focused you were when he charged at you, despite having a hole in his leg.

But a deer won't stop running if you just hit it in one of its legs. They're durable creatures. Why would a man whose clearly as athletic as the one trying to filet you like a fish not be equally as tough? Not to mention adrenalin numbs pain and even then this man is clearly used to pain. He probably hasn't even noticed he has a piece of lead stuck in his leg, like you didn't notice you shot him in the leg until you did it. Or how, subconsciously you dodged his attacks.

Instincts do what the conscious mind is unable or unwilling to do to survive. But even then, sheer bloodlust and pure survival instinct only work as long as the body is able to function. If you shoot a deer in the leg in the right place, it will no longer be able to run, or even move.

Such a thing is an amateur shot, too cruel and sadistic for your nature loving heart. But this killer and what he's doing, it isn't natural. This is a fight to death now, survival trumps all. And besides, this bastard pissed you off when he said you were just like him! If any one in god's earth deserves a maiming, its him.

You notice there's a smile on you face, from the sheer rush of nearly getting stabbed and gambling your life every second battling this lunatic.

Doesn't matter, whose going to be around to see it?

Pulling the hammer back, you aim your revolver, trying to pick out the knee cap as the man rushes you again, his coat moving over his leg as they crouch down and then spring. He's leapt into the air! no doubt trying to tackle you to the ground and use his larger body to his advantage.

Your finger twitches, the smell of gunpowder fills the air. Instinctively you move your free hand to cover your face, as the would be killer flies towards you. Black strips of cloth and blood fly into the air, a streak of torn skin and blood appears in his leg as the bullet flies through the air, unimpeded by the presence of flesh in its way.

It's trail reaches its end in his shoe, a hole appearing as blood sprays out.

And only then does the knife wielding mad man make another noise, a howl of pain . He didn't even cry out when he got shot the first time.

Glancing up, you see his eyes over your arms, glints of steel at the edge of your vision. His face is twisted into a hellish snarl. Seems he's cast off all illusions of being a civilized man

He's just an animal, no, just an animal.

And your body knows how to react to a charging beast. Without thinking you drop down and leap to the side, as the man's shadow engulfs you. And as it does, the stench of blood and medical spirits fills your nose, washing down to burn and stick to your lungs. It's sickening, and enough to make you grimace.

Knives cut through your father's coat, but it hangs so loosely on you that they just slide through the leather and fly into the air, without ever touch your back. You hit the ground, and roll, tucking your legs to your stomach. The killer falls onto the wall your back was against, curling and turning, kicking piles of refuse and forgotten boxes as he fumbles to stand on a wounded leg and half destroyed foot.

You bounce back to your feet, accustomed to such hard falls, ignoring the scrapes on your hand and the dull throbbing pain in your legs. It's all a bit jumbled in your head, the fury rising back up inside of it and giving your a headache, from the stench of blood and the latest attempt to end your amazing life.

The woman is still there, now looking up at you with a combination of confusion and dread, long curled locks of gold covering her eyes. That look strangely familiar, but you can't pin down what before the Killer draws your attention back to himself with a snarl.

And the fact that a knife just ricocheted off the wall behind your back, he's pulled his other arm back to flick his other knife back at you. With another arm stuffed into his coat.

A few strands of bright red hair drift on the wind past your eyes. Good lord that was close!

So you're not going to let that happen again, and risk the next knife finding its target right between your eyes, or just under your chin and in your throat. Raising up your revolver, your place your left hand flat against the hammer, narrowing your eyes. A chill rushes through your head and drips down your back, fighting against the dull heat that's filled you since you've noticed this monster. One half of your mind screams to shoot, and the other asks a question you don't have the answer for.

Can you take another man's life? He may be an animal, a monster and murderous beast. the worst kind of man, a murderer, a killer, a dangerous lunatic. He's been aiming to take your life, but could you take his. It's a question you don't know the answer for. Men are no different than god's other creatures, just dressing themselves in cloth and hide and living in burrows and den of wood and stone and metal rather than dirt or caves. There isn't much, if any separating man and other animals, outside of sapience and for some even that's debatable.

You've hunted and killed plenty of other animals, and respect them just as much as you do your fellow man but...could you kill another person? Even one as dreadful and horrible as this son of a bitch? It's a question that demands an answer, yes or no?!

(Burning blood)+ (Hunter)
BAH! all this thinking is starting to give you a headache! this kind of confusing philosophical bullshit isn't the kind of thing you can stomach it, it always makes your head hurt. There's no reason to hesitate over something as banal as what makes killing another person different than shooting down a buck in its prime or the morality of such a choice when the other person is a killer, a disgusting murderer. A human predator. That's the kind of thing for cleverer minds and intellects to debate, like Mirra, Dio and Jojo! All you know, is that this comes down to one thing.

Survival of the fittest, Live or die. The [Rules of Nature]. Hesitating and worrying of if you have it in you to kill this man is pointless. The only thing that matters, really, is if you have the guts and fucking courage to protect yourself and that woman laying out on the ground, covered in bloods and tears.

And you know the answer to that, you've known it for most of your life. If there's one thing that pisses you off more than anything else, that infuriates you the moment your seeit.

It's people who bully and push others around, who hurt others for no damn reason. And this bastard fits that description exactly, he goes beyond it.

And like that, all your doubts and internal conflicts pass, and without any hesitation. You fan the hammer, pulling the trigger the instant it locks in place.

First shot, impacts into his right shoulder. Twisting his chest around and spraying the wall with blood. Second shot, fire just as he begins to scream, hits his right arm, making it go limp as he struggles to toss his other knife.
cont
>>
>>4574423

Third shot, sends the knife to the ground, puts a hole in his left hand, locking the fingers in place as the killer stumbles.

Forth shot. It takes off two of the fingers of his right hand as he falls to his knees, crying out in pain and lifting his arms up as an instinctive reaction, his body trying to curl up to defend his vitals in the face of a brutal assault.

It buries into the brick wall behind him, showering his back with dust and shards of old clay.

Swinging your right arm down, you pop out the cartridge, and empty it of the spent casings by swinging your arm back up. Smoke curls from the barrel of the revolver, white and pure.

"Hmmm guess I won't know if I could, yet" You say to yourself, mostly thinking out loud.

You can hear Dio's voice close by, but all the screaming and the ringing in your ears makes it a bit hard to make out what he's saying. But you do hear your name.

(Hunter)

And see the killer trying to pull another knife on his belt.

You click your tongue, the screaming was a distraction then.

What do you do?
[] Stomp on his hand and then kick a few teeth out of his jaw

But, you know that you have no issues kicking a man when he was down, especially one who is such an evil hearted bastard as the man with the feline face, whose still trying to fight despite how much metal you put into him. Can't even respect the perseverance, cause it comes from madness and bloodlust rather than a more respectful source, like willpower or spirit or even simple survival instinct.

So, contemptuously, you stomp your boot as hard as you're able to onto his left hand, heel placed directly on the bullet hole. There's a little cracking sound, as a few of his fingers break. Just an inch or two away from gripping the handle of one of the knives stuck into his belt.

He doesn't scream then, and just glares up at you, jaw clenched and teeth bared like he's trying to snarl at you like a rabid dog.

"You little tart" He hisses.
(Burning blood)
Which is exactly the moment you decided to do more than just break his hand, and actually kick him while he's done. After all, you might not be a lady, but you as woman have never let insults like that go unanswered. Or any insult towards you or your friends really.

So, you pull your leg back as far as it'll go, and slam the tip of your steel toed boots directly into the bottom of the foul mouthed son of a bitch's jaw. There's a resounding crack, and even in the dark of the night and gloom of the alleyway, you can see a few teeth sail through the air. The light of consciousness fades from the knife wielding lunatic's eyes and his body falls limp, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth, his jaw hanging slack as his tongue droops out.

[JACK THE RIPPER! RETIRED: Six gunshot wounds, two fingers severed from right hand, three broken in left. Right foot mangled. His Jaw has been broken. Will take at least half a year to recover, if not longer)

You spit on his face, and stuff your revolver back into the front of your coat. The woman with golden locks is staring wide eyed at you, like she expects you to sprout wings and fly away or simply vanish from the world on the next gust of wind to blow through the alleyway.

The whole empty lot reeks of blood and gunpowder now, but at least it smells better than the rest of London. Reaching down to pick your hat up, you hear someone running towards you through all the ringing.

Glancing back as you place the old cap over your red locks, you see Dio sprinting through the darkness, eyes wide and filled with worry, fear and an unrestrained rage. Burning like a dark fire in his eyes. Just the sight of your beloved so enraged over the possibility of you being hurt, makes your heart flutter and starts to wash away your own burning rage.

"ANNA!" He yells again, pulling you out of your day dream before it began "I told you not to go looking for trouble! Were those gunshots? Are you alright? Heavens above, don't scare me like this, my heart can't take it"

And he hasn't even noticed the woman behind you, only having eyes for you, like always.

You giggle as he practically scoops you up into his arms, clinging to you tightly like he worries you'll suddenly vanish as well. It'd be cute if his worry didn't make you feel a little guilty. How shaky his voice is, not knowing if you're hurt or what's happened.

But, it was for a good reason! Can't just stand by while there's a killer stalking about, after all.

What do you do?

But still, even if you feel bad for driving Dio half mad with worry, that doesn't mean you can't enjoy his concern and tender care. It's a rare treat after all, and it's not like anyone got hurt because of what you did. Well anyone who didn't deserve it at least.

So you pout and act weak, like just being touched hurts as Dio holds you in his strong arms, and you lean against him, letting him hold you up. You can feel him run his hand through your hair, gripping you ever so tightly, holding your head against his chest. His heart is hammering, like the beating of a war drum. It's a lovely little tune, and for a few moments, its bliss. Just the sheer comfort and joy given from being held by the man you love, after risking your life, surely its one of the closest things to heaven on earth.

But, it comes to an end rather quickly and far sooner than you'd like it to. When he realizes you're just acting out twinges of pain and whimpering, and you know, have a big and content smile on your lips. Which is what clues him in on the fact there isn't a drop of blood on you, and the only damage done is a few tears to your coat. He doesn't look upset or disappointed, just relieved, like all the weight on his shoulders got lifted at once. His weight falls against you as he keeps you in his loving embrace.

"You're alright, you just had to make worry me a little longer , didn't you, Darling" He chuckles, shaking with every word that leaves his lips, holding you tighter with every word he says

"I thought it was adorable" You coo, nuzzling your head against his check, pulling away as your cheek bumps against something solid, stowed away under the Garish cloak he wears. What's that? Felt almost like stone? weird.

"So, where exactly is this suspicious man you were chasing after? Not very far from here I assume, judging from the racket you made?" Dio asks, putting his hands on your shoulder and pulling your thoughts away from why he'd keep a slab of stone pressed against his chest and beneath his coat.

"Oh, the son of a bitch I caught?" You ask bluntly, your disgust for the monster slipping into your speech "Who thought he was a hunter of men? And had no respect for the sanctity of life?"

Dio just nods, raising an eye brow at your passionate and spiteful description of the man.

"Oh he's at our feet, Dio my love! thought to keep fighting right before you got here, like my knight in white armor" You chirp happily, slipping from under Dio's grip easily, pointing at the heap that vaguely resembles a person on the floor, bleeding and mangled, his head snapped back and wide open.

"Bastard is lucky he only had to deal with you, if I had come just a moment sooner he'd probably be dead" Dio said simply, a cold hatred clear in his tone as he moves to inspect the unconscious stalker "What a disgusting creature! how dare he threaten you! Even as injured as he is, he got off easy for even thinking of trying to harm you"
cont
>>
>>4577075

You glance back at Dio, and feel a chill creep down your spine. The sheer malice and fury in his eyes managed to scare even you for a moment, even though they were focused on the heap of a scoundrel at his feet. For a second or two, you were expecting him to pull his own knife from his belt and stab the unconscious asshole in his black heart.

But he doesn't, he simply stands over him, a demonic grimace replacing his usually kind and handsome features. Seeing him like this, truly furious and on the verge of murderous, makes your palms feel cold...and sweaty.

So you decided to try and ignore the fact Dio is being scary right now, and instead help the blonde woman still laying out on the ground. Now struggling to stand.

So you offer her a helping hand and friendly smile.

"Hey, blondie, you alright?" You ask, as she stares at the hand you've offered, hers still gripping her injured arm tightly. She's as pale as a ghost and shivering with fear.

"That gash on your arm looks pretty nasty, I'm asking if you're alright? I might not be too smart, but I know a bad cut when I see one" You say gently, and sweetly, as if you were talking to a little girl. Because enough shock or fear can return anyone to their childhood.

"Do you need help?" You ask, gently brushing the hair away from her eyes "Why don't you tell me your name, so I at least know who I've saved"

"Mary" She says quietly, wincing away as your hands brush against her forehead and part her golden hair and revealing her eyes.

which, almost the same bronze as Dio's are. Which is weird, because he's the only person you've known with that bold color of eyes. And her hair...Well, Dario was a drunk and abussive man, it'd make sense if he sowed his "Seed" a little farther than his own wife.

It'd explain why you felt so furious seeing her hurt, besides her golden hair. You might've instinctively recognized her connection to Dio, if that's why her eyes look so much like his own.

"Mary Marly" She says again, trying to smile and take your hand but missing it and grasping at the air "I...I cannot possibly thank you enough, you saved my life! You saved my life!"

"Anna Anderton by the way" You reply with a grin, putting a hand on Mary's shoulder, trying to ignore the fact she might be a bastard sister of Dio's as you speak to her, since that just means she's Dario's daughter, really.

"Oh I..I almost forgot to ask your name" She laughs weakly "My apologize, my apologizes"

Dio mutters something behind you, sounded like "How dare you make her sully her hands"

Seems he's still restraining himself to merely cursing the unconscious killer.

"Dio, darling?" You ask, to draw him back to the here and now and out of the swamp of fury and anger, since you know how hard it is to pull yourself out of it alone

"Oh sorry, Anna, I must've been thinking out loud" He says, his voice gentle and expression kind and warm once again,

and only now does he notice the woman who bears a striking resemblance to him. He narrows his eyes for a second before turning back to you and smiling.

"Let me escort you back to Jojo, Dear, then I'll take the this piece of shit to whatever passes for the authority in this stain of a city" Dio says sweetly, bowing his head which he rarely does.

And of course, he notices the worried look you shoot back towards Mary, who is clinging to your arm for safety. And who doesn't seem to notice Dio in her dazed state, and is just repeating thank you, over and over, crying and bleeding over the back of her dress.

You turn to dio with a small pout of a frown.

"or, we can escort this poor soul to any doctor not drowning in liquor this time of night" He says, raising his head and standing tall "Or we could get Jojo to do it, he is after all the picture of a gentleman"

You shake your head, crossing your arms as Dio sighs and makes an annoyed face, looking down at you as he no doubt realizes what you're going to suggest before you even begin to say it.

"Anna..." He begins, trying to stop you from saying what you want to do instead, as if that'll stop you from doing it. His shoulders slump and you flash a confident grin.

"How about, I drag the bastard to justice instead!" You say cheerfully as Mary gasps behind you, no doubt surprise at the difference between how you were speaking now and how you did a few moments ago.

"Do you even know where to take him? Besides he's a rather large pile of crap, it'd be easier for me to carry him instead" Dio replies dully, trying to convince you to change your mind as that Mary lady leans her weight against your back, too frightened to keep standing by herself.

"I'm fairly certain I won't have to look, dragging an unconscious and bleeding man is sure to attract the authorities" You say with a shrug of your shoulders "Besides I'm sure Mary will feel safer escorted by you than me"

"You just want to parade around with him like he's a trophy. And it won't in London, Darling, and even if it did, I would rather not to have to pay your bail after you get thrown behind bar for looking like a lunatic " Dio says, crossing his arms as well and gritting his teeth in annoyance "And I'm certain she'd prefer to remain glued to her savior, and that my fiancé would prefer that I didn't go walking around with harlots so wantonly"

"Oh like you would do anything" You say, clicking your tongue "And your fiancé is the one asking you to get her help, so don't try to use that excuse"

"I'd rather not cultivate rumors so close to our wedding day, my love" Dio replies, rolling his eyes and sighing "Look, I know how stubborn you are, but it'd be much easier if I were to bring the bastard to justice, and you escort his would be victim, since she's practically sewed herself to your back"

"It might be, but I want to drag him to justice" You say bluntly as Dio makes an amusing noise, groaning and wiping his face "Literally if I have to, you know I'm stronger than your average lass"

You smile brightly as Dio frowns deeply .

"Sometimes I'm annoyed by the very same reasons I love you" He mutters, leaning back a little and staring into the dark sky above "if you're going to be this stubborn, at least follow me and...Mary to a Doctor, we can ring the police from there, that way we don't have to argue over the semantics about HOW he'll be taken to justice. Is that a good compromise? Anna?"

Anyways, writing.

"It is" You sigh, as the haze of adrenaline and fury slowly begins to wash out of your mind and chest. clearing up your head enough to see at least a little reason "Besides, I don't want the bastard bleeding out before he answers for what he's done tonight, and who knows maybe other nights"

Dio sighed as well, relief visibly washing over his expression as he allowed his shoulders to slouch for a few moments before righting his posture, to regain his dignified presence when he remembered that Mary was still there and he wasn't alone with you. The only time he really relaxes, in your experience.

It also reminds you that, uh, Mary isn't the kind of woman you are and might not be exactly happy or calm sitting in the same building as her would be killer.

"Hey Mary, would you be alright with that? I know it might be a bit much to ask you to share a room with this monster" You say gently and politely, trying to ape how your elder sister and dear friend speak to keep from upsetting the already trembling woman anymore than she already has been. Because of the attempted murder.

God if any of your family hears what you've been up to lately they'll skin you alive, won't they? How wild your life has been lately.

"He's still alive?" She asks digging her nails into the back of your coat, eyes going wide and wild, focused now on the crippled form of the lunatic.

"Unfortunately" Dio chimes in, his own spite for the man still clear as day in the manner of which he speaks of him "Though I assure you, Anna has rendered him entirely harmless, and if we were to just leave him here, he would certainly perish"

"Buuuut what if he wakes up while we wait for the police to arrive?" You ask, realizing as you say it it's probably not the best thing to say around the woman who nearly was nearly murdered by the bastard.

Dio opens his mouth slightly then chuckles, shaking his head.

"Well, I'd say he'd be smart enough to stay down, but considering he brought a knife to a gun fight against one of the best hunters in england" Dio says sounding somewhat amused now "I don't believe that is a give, we'll have the doctor give him something strong to keep him out"

"Or tie him down" Mary hisses, as you begin to worry she'll actually tear your father's coat "make sure he can't move at all"

"Honestly it'd just be natural selection if he tried anything after what She did to him" Dio said, almost sounding proud of how badly you've maimed the man, which to be fair, you'd be lying if you were to claim you were feeling pretty prideful about that yourself.

"I'd feel safer if he was tied down" Mary whimpered after a few moments, never once taking her eyes off of the still form of the injured madman.

Dio narrowed his eyes, but said nothing, before holding his hand out to you and smiling

"Anyways, if you would allow me, I'd be happy to escort the two of you to the nearest doctor" Dio says with a smirk, which makes you giggle.

"We're engaged!" You laugh as he smiles teasingly, so you gently punch his shoulder

"Just making sure to nip any rumors that may be spread at the bud, is all" He says, tapping you gently in return.

Mary whines, still keeping her eyes on her unmoving assailant.

"Okay okay, we'll stop flirting" You say sweetly "Come on, he can't you anymore"

She turns to you and nods once.
-
The closest doctor is probably not the best in the london, but he knew to not ask questions about why two giant's came into his house in the middle of the night, accompanied by two woman and man whose half dead.

He also reeks of alcohol and hasn't changed out of his nightware. though his wife was kind enough to make some tea for Jojo, Dio and You, while her squat husband went to work helping Mary and making sure whoever it was you caught would live through the night at least.

The couple kind of reminded you of garden gnomes, with their short stature and bright red cheeks. and their Jolly manner. they were in amazingly high spirits for having you barge into their house. Since Jojo was taking too long to use the knocker.

"Still, you gave both of us quite the fright earlier, Anna" Jojo said, as Dio nodded in agreement, while the little old woman sat between you and Dio, looking up at the two giant men curiously "Though it wasn't too surprising you ran off as you did. I'm just glad you kept that firearm of yours loaded"

"As am I" Dio says, taking a sip of his tea before speaking again again "Though, even if she hadn't brought it along, I was close behind her and"

"If a single hair was harmed on my head, the man would be dead" You said in partial sing song, as Dio smirked and took another sip of tea.

"Which is another reason I am glad you were armed, I know Dio would have killed the man if any harm came to you" Jojo said, frowning slightly as the old woman blinked twice

"...Why would such a lovely young lady run after a brute like the one you three dragged in?" She asked as jojo sighed and smiled gently.

"She may look like a lady, but I assure you, Anna is anything but one" Jojo said, glancing towards you

"It is true, my darling Anna is anything but gentle, if anything you should ask why the brute thought to attack her" Dio said, once again sounding a little proud with what you did this night.

"I suppose that's true, I should've realized when she nearly broke our door to get inside, Danny thought it was a burglar at first" The old woman giggles "Still, I can't speak ill of her, if what you say is true, she has saved a life after all"

"I don't lie" You say proudly, and Jojo shoots you a knowing look, since that is very far away from the truth. Dio just shakes his head and sets his tea down, seeming more amused than anything.

"Oh no lady does" the sweet old lady says, putting a hand on your wrist, patting it thrice before turning to pour herself another cup of tea "Wonder if that man is that Jack fellow the papers have been talking about"

Jojo chokes on his tea and Dio's head shoots up, with a curious look in his eyes. It takes you a moment or two to realize who she's talking about.

"You mean jack the ripper?" Jojo asks between coughs, trying to clean his jacket with his handkerchief as the old woman nods, with a serious look on her face. while you try your best not to smile at the idea it could've been, since that'd mean you took down a far bigger monster than you imagined.

And that if he is, there's no way you family ISN'T going to hear about what you did tonight. A nervous smile, more than anything else

"Well he's been about cutting up...well loose ladies, hasn't he?" the old lady says, cheeks flushing red as her husband curses in the other room.

"Stop squirming, I need to get the stiches straight" He grumbles, very loudly.

And that one sentence is enough to fire up your protective instincts as quick as a snap. Mary, even if all you know is she may be related to Dio cause her hair and eyes, and the fact you saved her life by chasing down that creep on more or less a whim. It doesn't feel right to just sit drinking tea while she might be being further mangled by an old drunk with a needle.

"I'll go check to make sure Mary has calmed down a bit" You say, trying to be polite and mind your manners around the sweet old lady "I'll be right back"

"Oh you don't have to worry darling, Old Danny learned to stitch when he was young, he has steady hands when operating" Danny's wife coos, gently grabbing your hand in an attempt to calm you down and assure you your "Friend" is alright, but the clattering and muffled cursing you hear is enough to keep it from working.

"I insist, I insist" You say as Jojo starts to look more than a little worried himself "I just want to make sure she's calmed down and isn't scared for her life"

"OOooooh" The old woman sighs, pouting as she release her incredibly weak grip and turns back to her tea and sugar "But you're such a lovely girl to talk with, such interesting stories...I suppose little old me will just have to wait then"

You shoot a wide eyed look to Jojo, Silently telling him to entertaining the cloyingly sweet old woman while you make sure her husband isn't giving poor Mary stiches up to her shoulder.

"Ah well, while she's gone, I could tell you about a most fascinating discovery of, well not my own, but one I consider myself apart of" Jojo says, taking the bullet that is the old woman's smothering attention, as Dio perks up, having closed his eyes to think or actually haven fallen asleep in the seconds of conversation since he last spoke up.

"Oh I'm sure our host isn't interested in such things, especially considering how it came to our knowledge" Dio says, winking and making your heart flutter as he also acts as bait for the old hen's gossiping ways

"Hah! just another tale of my amazing heroics!" You shout, without really thinking about it, puffing out your chest as the memory of nearly being frozen solid by one of your best friends mixes with the adrenaline still surging through your veins "Go on, tell her! it'll make sense then why I was able to CATCH JACK THEEEE RIPPAH, AHAHAHA"

"Oooh?" the sweet old lady coos almost like an owl, eyes wide and filled with youthful wonder of just how incredible you are in both deeds and ability, your face flushing with pride and heat as you get a little carried away.

Dio just smiles gently, obviously amazed at how amazing of a woman his fiance is.

"Well I wouldn't call how you discovered it heroic and its just a theory that the man you ran into is" Jojo says, trying to defuse the excitement of your kindly host before she gets him talking for the rest of the night

"Oh it has to be crooked old jack, who'd else would be cutting up ladies in London town?" The old hen says, looking at you with sparkles in her eyes

"Exactly! I! ANNA ANDERTON! AM A HERO! AND THE WOMAN WHO CAUGHT JACK THE RIPPER!" You proclaim, punching a fist in the air as Dio chuckles and shakes his head

"Well if he is, I'll reward you with a kiss, my love" He teases, but that isn't enough to hamper your spirits! you're a hero after all! and now you're going to make sure Mary isn't being neglected by that old drunk, like a hero would.

"Well, this is going to be a quite difficult subject to approach, but do listen with an open mind if you are able to" Jojo sighs, bowing his head in defeat as you march out of the small dining room and into the drab hallway with peeling paint and wall papers.

Then, a few short steps later and you're at the door to the lounge, where the doctor is seeing to Mary and her attack.

"Oi!' You call out as you practically burst through the door, with a wide grin upon your lips "You aren't hurting her too badly are you, old timer"

"Do you make a habit of throwing open other people's door so harshly?" The doctor asks, with a length of twine held between his teeth and bags under his eye, as he holds up Mary's pale, quivering arm "And I'd ask you to leave, I am in the middle of my work on this lovely young lady and do not wish to lay uneven stitches"

"Hey Anna, wasn't it?" Mary says, trying to sound glad to see you, and talk with a piece of wood between her teeth. She kicks and cries as the needle passes in and out of her skin again.

"Don't you have an sedative or even just a bottle of whiskey?" You ask, both angry and worried as Mary whimpers and grinds her teeth onto the wooden gag keeping her from cracking them.

"No, I keep them at the hospital I own" the old man snarls "Which I would be working at instead of my smoking room, I get there was an urgent need for care for this most lovely flower"

Mary blushes at the compliment, tears streaming down her cheeks, smearing her makeup as Doctor Danny continues his work, wiping his brow with a blood-soaked cloth.

"However I protest having me save the life of a man whose own mother would not miss him, and forcing him onto my couch to bleed on...It is not easy pulling bullets out after a few late night drinks, you" He says, noticing the sour and quite upset expression you're wearing "Young Lady...also I hope you can pay for my front door, you put a dent into it"

"And hurt my foot" You snort as the old man sighs and goes back to working on Mary, who looks at you with a amused look on her face

"You are quite an odd woman, Anna, but I can see why you have such a handsome fiancé, besides a pretty face of course" Mary says, complimenting you before crying out in pain again "BUGGER"

She stomps her foot on the ground a few times.

"Bugger, bugger" She repeats, trying to pull her arm away
Cont

"Go away or help keep her from moving!" Danny yells "She's going to undo the stiches"

You grip Mary's shoulder, calming her down and keeping her from pulling her arm away from the doctor.

"Sorry, sorry, I forgot my manners" Mary hisses, glaring at Danny who snorts "But as I was saying, your character is quite charming as well after I've gotten over how...BUGGER! That hurts you old cow!"

"If I had my painkillers, I'd give them to you, but alas my business is a few miles from here" Danny sighs "It'll be over soon, and I'll share with you some of my irish whiskey if it'd help keep you calm"

"But yes, that free spirit and bluster is quite...ch..charming" Mary manages to spit out, tears roll down her cheeks as the needle slips into her skin "Ooooh I hate this, it hurts. it huuuurts"

"Well I wouldn't call it bluster" You say with an unsteady but kind smile, as you help keep Mary still and stop her from kicking the man trying to treat the gash that runs the length of her arm. Luckily you're accustomed to the sight and smell of blood, so its a lot easier for you to see an open and still bleeding wound than it'd be for most anyone else.

"W..well whatever you'd call it, I can tell your man adores it" Mary says, the wood rod between her teeth creaking as she bites down onto it "Ohoohooo I need whiskey, wine, anything"

"When its done, when its done" Old Danny boy mutters, dipping the needle in a boiling pot of water to clean it before he begins stitching again

"Do you have a preference?" You ask, to try and keep the poor woman's mind on anything but the pain and the fact her attacker is passed out a few feet away from her "I'll treat you to some of the quality stuff that won't rot your innards after this"

"Am I a little girl going to dentist?' She asks, a smirk passing on her lips before it vanishes into another grimace of agony, her eyes flashing with wild panic. You press your hands down to keep her still, right before she'd have started to thrash around again

"I wouldn't know, we just met didn't we?" You answer jokingly, managing to elicit a girlish, proper giggle from Mary before she winces again and groans, muttering bugger under her breath "Hey! Why not tell me a bit about yourself, so I can know the woman I saved a bit better"

"What are you, a prince in shining armor?" She says, snickering and closing her eyes, mouthing the words, kill me as another stich is passed beneath her skin

"Sure, sure" She says, paling as she glances to you "I'm sure you can guess my profession from the perfume and makeup, rather easily, right Anna"

"That you're a whore, I figured considering your dress and the part of London you were walking through" You answer bluntly, and it seems that Mary doesn't take offense as she smiles and nods

"A very specific kind, mind you" She says with an almost wicked glint in her bronze eyes "Uh, I can't really describe my work in company, but suffice to say I am usually the one who inflicts pain, rather than endures it"

That's odd. In your admittedly lacking experience in such matters, it was painful as much as it was enjoyable. So what does she do then?

"Not sure I follow, but I would not have guessed it from you manner" You say politely as Old Danny chuckles

"She whips the lads who like to be pushed around and led on a leash" He says, causing Mary's cheeks to turn bright red "Always the quite and gentle ones who end up with that kind of work, less they're the ones that you pay to"

"We don't want to defile a proper lady's ears with such discussion" Mary says, forcing herself to smile "but yes, that is correct"

Well Dio likes it when you bite or scratch him, so that isn't as weird as what you were imagining.

"I ain't no lady, both of you should know that but sure, it'd probably be better if we talked about something else" You say with a chuckle, Danny just grumbles "Like what kind of drink you want me to get you when this is done"

"Gin, no mixings. I don't like sweet things" Mary manages to mumble, bowing her head slightly "And from your tone, I'd say you don't lack in experience, despite your upbringing"

"We're talking about you, Mary" You say coyly, which just makes her laugh before yelping and whimpering again "and what are you, a sailor? Gin is disgusting"

"To you maybe, but I acquired a taste for it over the years, my mother's favorite customer and my favorite "Uncle" was rather fond of the drink himself, the taste and aroma remind me of OW OW OW OW!" She starts to explain casually before the needle pierces her arm again

"Just my luck, two beauties come to visit my home in the night and both are more rugged than my own son" Danny chuckles as you briefly entertain the thought of smacking him on the back of his head for that remark. But restrain yourself

"So you don't like sweet or fruity things I'm guessing?" You ask Mary as she nods quickly, eyes widening as she grips her dress, digging her painted nails deep into it

"Can't stand anything sweet, it's just a bad taste to my tongue" She explains, breathing heavily, her eye twitching as she feels the needle once again "I like strong flavors, bright colors, can't stand anything dull or weak in that regard"

"I like sweets, but that's probably because I could always get the best kinds when I was young" You say cheerfully as Mary sighs

"Must've been nice" She says dully, which makes you frown.

"Eh, it was in someways, it wasn't in others" You say with a shrug "Maybe I could change your opinion on sweets with a few of my favourite"

"Tch, if you'd drink some navy gin with me, I'd be happy to at least try" She says with a sneer "What I don't get is, why a rich woman like you would want to talk with a"

"Nice conversationalist?" You say before she can say whore "Well I saved your life and it'd feel wrong if I didn't at least try to get to know you a little, besides, do I act stuck up at all?"

"Well we just met, but so far you haven't. Also don't know any ladies who pack the kind of heat you do" Mary says, with a gentle smile "Which might be why we're getting along"

"What afraid I'll draw on you if you upset me?" You ask jokingly, making Mary laugh once again

"No no, heavens no, the fact that you aren't uptight or smug, the fact that despite being a woman you didn't hesitate to do what you did" Mary laughs, before the joy fades from her eyes and she frowns "It reminded me of who I thought I was as a little girl, that boldness, that fearlessness"

What a load of horse crap. If you knew her better you'd have smacked her on the forehead for being an idiot, but you've only met her and have barely had time to get to know her and well, she did almost get killed so smacking her for being stupid wouldn't exactly be the nicest thing to do.

"Who says you aren't? I'm an idiot who does things without thinking or because I felt like it, or even cause I was too angry to think of a better way to do it" You snort, as Mary bows her head like a proper lady despite her profession and the profanities that had left her mouth just a little while ago "I'm really no one to look up to, even if you just met me"

"Its easy to say something like that, but its true, I haven't me another woman as brave as you are, as courageous as you are. Like me, they've let others decide what they should be and" Mary begins to say, speaking sadly and gloomily. So you do what you do when Mirra gets depressed or upset, you stop her from talking and digging that pit any deeper.

"Oh shut up with the depressing crap you're saying" You say, getting Danny to flash you a judging glance as Mary jumps up, still not used to how foul mouthed you can be "You're young, whose says you can't change your life? the way you're living? Do you think you're a coward cause you weren't able to live like me"

Mary's mouth opens and it looks like she's about to speak as you laugh and shake your head.

"Listen, I've lived freely because I made the world and everyone in it understand I would bend down and kneel and be a proper lady like I shoulda been" You say with a grin "And I was brave enough to do so, cause I was a stupid girl too stubborn to see how she looked to everyone else. If it wasn't for Dio I'd probably grow old without anyone by my side cause of who I am, I'm lucky he adores the wild side of me. I am as free as I am, cause my family loved me and realized that I had too much of a temper to be something I wasn't"

You slap her back, laughing again as she looks up at you with a small smile and widen, awed eyes.

"What are you? twenty like me? Mary there's so much time to change and live how you wanna be! whose to say you have to be a whore forever or because your mother was one? Whose to say you can start sailing the sea or exploring the world?" You ask, still laughing and showing the world and Mary a bright and confident grin "Who cares how others see you or what they think you should act like! bully to them! bully to all of them! let them go to hell, let them turn their noses up and call you names and insult you! I've had to put up with it since I was a girl"

You lean closer, look directly into those eyes who resemble the pair your adore to look at and to catch looking at you so much. Your cocky, challenging grin contrasted by her own meek smile.

"Mary darling, you may not be strong or rich, or tireless and confident as I am, but how's that stopping you from living like I do? Change your job, leave London, find your talent, read and learn" You say softly, leaning closer as she winces and shies away "What's stopping you? That you're poor? that you're a woman? that you're forced into a line of work because its "All you could do"? Bullshit, that's what I say. Do what makes you happy, be the girl you used to be. Growing up is a scam to make you conform to societies structure anyways, if you were brave and fearless before, what's stopping you from being it again?"

"You don't understand" Mary says trying to look away from you, so you hop behind the old doctor as he cleans up her sewed shut wound "It isn't that simple"

"Tch, you're putting yourself down again, listening to what others tell you are" You say happily, tapping her forehead with the back of your knuckles "Stop listening to this and listen to this"

You tap her chest, about where her heart should be.

"It might be an uphill struggle, but its better than rotting away as the lie the world built for you" You snort, crossing your arms as you cackle "Come on Mary, Take a leap, it may hurt when you hit the ground, but at least you won't be stuck where you are"

She bows her head and sighs.

"What a lovely person you are" She laughs as Danny shrugs his shoulders "but, really do you think that will work?"

"Yes, worked for me, and if it didn't I would've ran away from anyone who tried to tie me down' You say, pointing your thumb at you chest and snorting with laughter again "If London is keeping you down, go somewhere else. You aren't tied to it, or your birth. Make something of yourself, stop being a coward because you changed, go back to how you were and boldly take the life you desire. Whose going to stop you? Whose going to do anything but scoff and turn their head? Their contempt can't hurt you. Stop moping because other's made you change, the Mary you were is still alive in your heart"

Mary smiles a bit wider as you throw your head back and Howl

"So throw off that mask and let her out! Idiot! Forget all the chains and expectations of society, what do they care of you anyways?" You say confidently.

"Haaaa, you're making me believe, you devil" Mary says, brushing a tear away from her cheek with her injured arm "Oh...are you done?"

I'm not so on-board with the gun santa idea. She probably doesn't have any training with a gun. Mary, on the other hand, has been trained from a somewhat young age to know how to handle and care for various hunting/personal firearms.

"Thank the father, son and holy spirit" Mary sighs, relief visibly washing over her as she relaxes in the chair arm chair she's sitting in. Danny quickly places a fresh cloth under her arm, to make sure she didn't bleed on it, even though the gash on her arm had been sewn shut. A little rude, in your opinion. Danny looked over the two of you with tired eyes and sighed.

"Well, my work is done, we can discuss payment for me patching up that brute. Can't ask to be paid for keeping a flower colorful and pretty, though" The old lecher says with a wink towards Mary, and a chuckle, before glancing to you "Both of you are welcome to join me, though if you do, Miss Anderton, I expect compensation for your drink, and my door as well"

You click your tongue and stand up straight, with an impish smirk.

"Eh, I'll have to refuse the offer then" You say with a shaking your head and shrugging your shoulders "Besides, liquor isn't good for stress anyways, that's how you get addicted"

You stretch, placing your hands on the crook of your back as you do so, and yawn rather shamelessly. When you're finished you smile and look down at Mary, whose still sunken in the chair, exhausted from all that's happened to her today especially the grueling, torturous procedure that was just finished. Just the thought of what that must've felt like makes your skin crawl, like a horde of ants has dug and burrowed underneath your skin. It must've been sickeningly painful. The thought almost manages to wipe the grin off your face, but somehow you retain it.

"And that'd be the worst way to change your life from how it is now" You say cheerfully, wagging a finger in the air as you warn Mary away from indulging in a bit of drink. Despite being the first to offer it. After all, if she really is related to Dio, that means the bastard Dario's blood is in her veins.

And as it is said among breeds, if something is wrong with the pups, it's the bitches fault. Sure it's the father in this case, but better safe than sorry, right?

"Haaaah" Mary groans , sitting up properly while holding her injured arm close to her chest, as she frowns and winces from the soreness and stinging pain "I suppose you're right, but I could really go for a drink after enduring this rough of a treatment"

"Hey just giving some advice" You say, rolling your shoulders and stomping your feet a few times to get all the kinks and dullness out of your joints from having sat still for so long listen to Old Danny's kindly wife. which reminds you, you should make sure that Dio and Jojo are still alive after having to endure all her gossip and prodding. They might've died of boredom, after all.

"After all, it'd be a real shame for you to end up throwing away your future after escaping the jaw's of death" You chuckle. And then, surprisingly, Mary manages to stand up, her legs are shaking, but she gets up to her feet, despite all of the shock and pain she's been through tonight. It's kind of impressive actually.

Mary smirks, like she's challenging you, her painted lips curling into a cat like grin as she laughs, a mixture between a lower class lout and proper lady.

"Well, then, if you're so concerned about my future, why not tell me what exactly I should do to reclaim it in the first place" She purrs, flashing her teeth like a wolf would. You rock your head from side to side as you leave the old drunk of a doctor as he scurries away to drink away the shiver's in his hands.

"Well" You say after a bit of thinking as she follows you down the hallway to where you left Dio and Jojo "first, take the money you have if its saved, find a job that's less poisonous to the soul, maybe move if London has too many bad memories"

"So just leave what little I have behind?" She asks, sounding quite skeptical of your advice

"It's what I would do if my life got too boring or hard, what matters is happiness, and if the way your living isn't making you happy" You say, looking over your shoulder and at her eyes through the locks of her blond hair "Then you have to change it in anyway you can, right?"

"That's more difficult than you think" Mary says, shaking her head, further messing her once prim and proper hair, the few curls and rolls of it that remained in place coming undone

"Is it? You have legs, and no doubt some money, if walking isn't to your taste" You say with a click of your tongue, looking up at the peeling paint up on the ceiling "All that's hard is letting go of what you have, and it shouldn't be, if you hate what you have and who you've become. Being free means letting go of the chains you've bound yourself in, after all"

Mary sighs and lets out a girl titter.

"Either I am a bigger fool than you claim to be, or you underestimate how smart you can be" Mary says, sounding almost overjoyed now despite how sorrowful her words had been but moments before "because this is actually making sense to me, maybe its because of the blood loss"

She laughs, and you try not to get angry from her slightly insulting words and tone, after all, last thing she needs is your wild temper.

"It seems simple to me" you mutter, walking towards the door to the lounge where you left Dio and Jojo, hearing the old gossipy hen laughing through the door "Besides, I'm sure if you don't have enough money to get the life you want, someone is bound to be interested in the story of Jack's last would be victim"

"If that was the ripper with me in that room" Mary says coldly after a few moments of tense silence.

"Who else could it be?" You question, smiling happily to try and cheer Mary back up "Can't be that many killer's in London, After all"

Mary shoots you a judging look as you open the door.

And Dio sighs in relief, looking up towards you with a look of barely restrained joy and annoyance, as the old woman yammers and rambles on.

Jojo is smiling, but he looks pained even though you've only been gone for a few minutes at most.

"Oh is that so, you're son is a painter then?" Jojo asks curiously as the old lady nods, nearly spilling her tea as she lifts the cup to her lips

"Oh he's not well known, but he has quite the talent I'd say" She says as Dio glances towards her and then back to you, silently pleading you to get the old woman to shut up or perhaps asking if it'd be alright to do it himself. Hard to tell since he's never looked this desperate before "Now we were talking about something before, weren't we?"

"Y..yes, the abilities of our friend Miss Barret" Jojo says, his eyes tired and weak "We were just about to explain their nature and how we discovered them, weren't we Dio"

"Were we? it's hard to remember if we were" Dio says sarcastically.

"Oh we were, we were, I remember now" The kind old woman says, not noticing you've walked into the room.

"I was beginning to think you'd never come back" Dio Mutters as Jojo takes a sip of tea and forces a smile "and I'd be stuck in this hell forever"

"Oh you know me, I always show up when I'm needed" You whisper playfully, since while her husband may be a bit rude, the only this old lady has done was want to enjoy some fresh company "Sorry I had to leave that, darling"

Dio smirks and raises his eyes brows as you squeeze onto the chair he's sitting on, while Mary practically collapses on the smoking couch in the corner of the room, thoroughly exhausted from her brush with death and the ordeal that was getting stitches with anesthetics. Danny's wife glances at her, eyes full of worry and concern, and for a moment it looks like she's forgotten about what she was talking about with Jojo. Something your ever polite friend takes relief in, before the gossipy hen turns back to him with bright eyes.

"So what's the talent of this Mara friend of yours, Mr Joestar?" She asks, as Jojo sighs and smiles that gentle and kind smile of his.

"Well it's quite difficult to explain, and is quite a fantastical story, one you will no doubt believe to be mere fantasy" Jojo says, glancing to you for a moment and smiling a bit wider as he spares you from being dragged back into the nearly life drainingly dull conversation

"But I assure you all I'll tell you is the truth, even if its quite bizarre, it's perhaps the discovery of our century if I am to be honest with my opions" He adds, winking to you and Dio. Your Fiance wraps his arm around your waist and holds you tightly.

"I'll forgive you this time" Dio says, smirking still as you rest your head against his chest.

"Oooh you have just the kindest, most forgiving heart Mr Brando" You coo, looking up at his face and eyes, that handsome smirk filled with confidence still on his lips "how lucky a girl I am"

Dio's smile brightens as you stroke his ego, it makes you happy to see him so cheerful, since he usually keeps his feelings subdued around other people. It's got to be a bit of your rubbing off on him, since you've never cared what people think of you, really.

"Have you finally forsaken your humanity to become a kitten, Anna?" Dio teases after a few moments of silence, running his fingers through your long and vivid red hair

"What, want me to nuzzle against you?" You purr teasingly in reply, rocking your head back and forth against his chest as Jojo explains to the best of his abilities, exactly what Mirra can do and why, kind of like a professor reading an essay on some lost culture from ages past.

"I didn't say I disliked it" Dio says coolly, tapping his fingers on your head as you giggle happily.

"Just don't scratch my chin" You say with a shrug as you relax and close your eyes "The petting is fine, its relaxing"

"Never become boring, darling" Dio says you feel him relax as well "It'd be so droll if you became like your mother after we were wed"

"Oh like hell I will" You mutter, shaking your head "you know me Dio, I'll always be me"

"The only woman deserving of my attention, of course" Dio says sweetly.

"So...she's some kind of witch then?" The old woman, whose name you forgot pretty quickly after she mentioned it. You almost sit up, opening your eyes a sliver as your temper flares up.

"Dammit, I was so relaxed toooo" You groan "Now I can't get that word out of my head"

"Didn't you once throw a girl who called her that into a lake?" Dio asks absent mindly

"No, I dragged her to her house and Mirra put a welt on her cheek" You say, snorting with laughter "She never bothered her again"

"Ah, right, I had forgotten, you know for a week after I thought she was just covering for you to keep you out of trouble" Dio chuckles "With how much you bragged about it"

"It was impressive, and that does sound like something she would do" You yawn, before jolting up as there's a knock on the door, interrupting Jojo's lecture

Oh the cops must be here.

You slide out of Dio's arms, as you hear the door swing open as Old Danny boy lets the officers into his homes. Dio frowns, sliding his hand over your arm as you leave him, but lets go at your wrist as you practically hop over to Mary, whose still looking half dead on the couch she fell onto. Her bronze eyes flash open, and look up at you drearily while the rest of her remains lounging and still, exhausted and worn.

You look cheerfully down at her, wondering if maybe some of your eternal optimism and energy might rub off on her like grass stains on a dress. Danny's sweet wife looks away from Jojo, who stops his lecture on what he knows about Hamon and Sendo from what you told him and what his father has translated from Mirra's old Journal she found who knows where.

"We got a call saying a guest of yours had subdued some kind of criminal or another" A fat sounding man snorts from out in the hallway "who attacked some tart according to the report filed"

Mary frowns, probably because that kind of spoils the encouragement you gave her a few minutes ago.

"Probably over a uh, argument over prices eh?" Another voice that sounds overly nasally jokes and suddenly your temper flares back up and Jojo even looks a little angered by the careless words of those two officers of the law, whose now laughing like a hen squawks.

"Don't mind them, you look like you have something to say yourself" Mary sighs as she tries to sit up, but you crouch down so she doesn't have to, tilting your head to the side as she finally returns your smiles and sighs as she falls back into the rough and uncomfortable looking cushions and pillows "So why not wash out that foul language with your own?"

"Well, I was just going to ask if you'd like to be escorted back to...well wherever you live" You ask sweetly, trying to mimic Dio's honey sweet voice that you oh so adore.

"Considering what happened to day, I'd rather not take my chances walking alone again" Mary sighs, closing her eyes, grimacing and whimpering as her brow wrinkles. That cut must still be hurting like absolute hell, you wish you had someway to take her pain from her. You'd at least be able to tolerate it, it hurts worse seeing someone as nice as Mary suffer for no reason. Sure you just met her but, well her hair and eyes reminds you of Dio and if he a cut that deep in his arm, you'd be worried senseless.

"Besides, we'd be able to talk more that way, couldn't we?" Mary asks, peeking out through one of her eyes as she reaches out to you with her uninjured arm. Her hand is so dainty and fragile looking, with long painted nails "About life and its bizarre turns"

You smile softly and gently take her hand.

"That's part of the reason I'm asking" You giggle, not rising from her side as you give her hand a reassuring squeeze.

"So where is the uh, hero who brought the bastard to get patched up" The nasally voices asks "alongside the whore?"

"Not sure why they'd bother, just more work for us, and so early in the morning to" The fat one grumbles "Would've been better to let him bleed out and expire, in my opinion, but since he's still breathing we'll take him off your hands as soon as..."

"As soon as we get the story from the man who thinks himself to be a knight in shining armor" The nasally one snorts "So we can figure out exactly what we'll charge the uh, animal with"

Your temper flares, and Mary yelps as your grip tightens a little too much because of it. You let go of her hand and sit next to her, since there's room on the dinging and tobacco reeking couch

"She's in my smoking room just over there but" Danny says, sounding a little lush again "you shouldn't..."

"She?" The nasally voiced cop asks as the fat one opens the door, his face a mess of folds like a fattened pig "What are you talking about Sir? When you called you said our uh, suspect was half dead and mangled, keeping some kind of ogre in your lounge"

Dio's eyes narrow and turn cold, but he remains seated, bowing his head. But how white his knuckles have turned tell you how furious he is at that comment.

"Shouldn't joke during an uh, investigation" The skinny man behind the fat pig says as he leans over his stout coworker.

"Now, which one of you fine gentleman is going to be in the papers tomorrow?" The fat one asks with a smile, his lips struggling to curl on his fat face

"Oh, the doctor was quite was serious" Jojo says, glancing to you and silently pleading with you to remain calm as he remained where he sat "I only arrived on the scene of the crime , or rather my two companions after the incident, as I could not keep up with both of them"

"Eh?" The fat one gapes, picking his nose, glancing to Dio then "So you just want your lady friend to take the fame and glory then"

If glares could kill, that cop would be a corpse on the ground. Dio smiles and shakes his head.

"I followed my fiancé and arrived after she had subdued the cretin" He says calmly, masking his anger with a kind and polite voice "please, for you own sake, mind your manners and take your jobs seriously"

"What? Did you see the size of the bastard? How could a pipsqueak like her take him down? What did she do?" The thin one with the gaunt face laughs, not noticing the killing intent coming off of Dio with every word he speaks. \

And your mind goes blank, filled with steam and anger as soon as the moron starts talking again?

"Coulda kicked him in the bollocks" The fat one says, letting out a labored breath "And, she ain't so small, its just that her coat is too big for her"

"You believe that nonsense?" The thin one sneers

(Burning blood)

Is it legal to pummel a police officer if he's being a prat? Certainly you could do it, doesn't look like that chicken over there has ever gotten in a fight with anything besides his boots.

"Either she did, or she didn't, no reason to raise a fuss about it" the piggish one grunts "We'll ask her and the victim, if their stories match up, what's the harm in believing it? Sure will make for a nice story at least"

"Nah see" Says the dead man walking as you think of a thousand ways you could put him on a liquid diet and half a year of staying in bed with just your bare hands "You lack my uh, intuition, we wanna talk with the actual hero of the day not some girl who wanted to get famous. Look I'll prove it now"

"Don't" Jojo says seriously, eyes stern and filled with almost as much anger on your behalf as Dio's "I am warning you, don't get close to her"

"What's she gonna do bite me?" The moron laughs as Dio smiles wickedly, like a wolf that's spotted an injured sheep "look, she'd trip over her coat if she stood up, what can she do to me? look, I'm just going to end this little jape and get on with my job, alright"

He steps closer to you. and suddenly there's a heavy pressure behind your temple

(Burning blood)

There's a loud crack, and pain clears your head. There's a distant thud and you can smell blood. you blink twice and touch your forehead, realizing your standing again. There familiar sensation of blood reaches your finger tips and you pull your hand down, curiously looking at the red smears over your fingers.

You rub you thumb over them and blink again, taking a breath of somehow great tasting air. it feels like all your worries have flown away.

Then you look down and see officer death wish crumpled on the floor, his nose shattered and blood pouring out of his nostrils as stars fill his eye.

"I did warn you, didn't I?" Jojo says sadly, covering his eyes as Dio smirks proudly and nods his head "Anna has a terrible temper, made all the worse by insults and taunting"

"You did, Jojo" he says as the fat cop glances down at his partner and shrugs his shoulders "I'd say he's quite fortunate she reacted before I did, I would not have stopped if I got my hands on him for what he said"

"Seems you found all the evidence you need" He says, turning a few shades of pale as the pain of cracking your skull again the bastard's comes home to roost, so you fall back on the couch, rubbing your head.

"My my" the kindly old lady says, eyes wide with shock "you'll make for a fearsome wife someday, sweetie"

"Anyways, could you tell me exactly what happened?" the piggish one snorts as he sits down, wiping his forehead

Not to mention that he was almost fast enough to succeed. He also seemed to have very clear sadistic streak, and ignored a few of the gunshot wounds until one shattered his foot.

He was circling one of the nearby brothels for more victims. It seemed like this wasn’t the first time he did it.

"Well its rather simple and easy to understand, you'd have to be an idiot if you weren't able to, really" You say dully, rubbing your forehead with the back of your left hand, trying to sooth the aching pain and ringing in your skull. No idea why you just had to go an headbutt that prat, it really hurt. If only the you from a few moments before was a separate person, so you could sock them in the jaw for doing something as stupid as that.

The fat cop nodded, not writing anything down on the grubby journal he pulled from his coat, staring up at you with his eye's that remind you so much of a pig, like the rest of him.

"So, if you could, explain what happened then?" He asks, as you hear Mary giggle next to you. Dio sighs and turns his eyes to the ceiling, clearly annoyed by the presences of these two, especially the one currently laid out on the floor with a broken nose.

"It should be obvious" You say bluntly as the expression of the pig cop's face falls and he pinches the bridge of his nose "I noticed the uh, well bastard was suspicious while my friends and I were going for"

You glance towards Jojo, and realize it's probably best to keep a few details to yourself to avoid causing a fuss or, like Dio worried, encouraging rumors to spread.

"a midnight walk, and ended up in a bad part of the city" You say with a smile as the man grunts and begins to jot down notes on the little grimy book in his bloated hand "So I decided to track him to make sure he wasn't up to anything criminal"

"She means she shouted she thought she saw a dangerous man and was going to chase after him" Dio chimes in "While we were otherwise occupied, and then she did just that"

"Poor Dio's heart nearly gave out from that surprise" Jojo says quietly as the officer nods and continues writing "And rushed after her, I was unable to keep pace because of the rather cramped conditions of the alleyways the three of them ran through"

"Yes yes" the officer says, glancing back up at you "So is what these two fine fellows said accurate"

"Ehhhh" You groan, rocking your head back and forth a few times to loosen your neck and keep it from feeling sore like your head is "It is, though they weren't able to keep up with me, only thing I could think of doing at the moment"

You shoot Dio a guilty look and he smiles gently, shaking his head once, which makes you smile again yourself.

"And while you chased after him, the thug decided then would be a good time to mug the lady laying next to you?" The cop questions "Seems like he isn't the brightest crook in London then"

"No, not mug" You say, shaking your head as you pull your revolver from your coat and hold it out to the officer, gripe forward "He was attempting to kill her"

The cop pauses writing and looks over to Mary.

"Do you have any idea why he would attack you, some personal grudge or past argument?" He asks as Mary winces and goes stiff as she thinks back to the events of a few hours ago

"You don't understand, you shouldn't treat that man as some common crook" You say after a heavy sigh, flipping your revolver back around and aiming it at the ceiling "He wasn't on the prowl for wealth or revenge, he just wanted to kill someone"

The man's piggish eyes squint at you as he writes down another addition to his note.

"So he's a madman then?" He asks, looking up from his writing as you shrug your shoulders.

"Of course, who else would he be hunting women for sport?" You ask, feeling a little annoyed at how pointless and stupid these questions are "He spoke to me after I caught up to him, after he had assaulted Mary, he knew what he was doing even if he's insane. He isn't some common crook or lunatic"

The fat man nods again, writing what you say calmly.

"And before you ask how I know this, he was confident enough to bring a knife to a gun fight" You say bluntly "And tough enough to need six shots to be stopped, and very nearly actually cut me. The man is a sadistic lunatic, that would be dangerous enough, even without his skill and endurance, most men would run if they had a gun drawn on them, not charge the person holding it and try to stab them while grinning and laughing"

The fat cop swallows hard, turning a few shades paler as you cross your arms.

"Also you know he might be jack the ripper" You say looking at Danny's wife, who nods in agreement

"Who else could he be, going around trying to slice up young ladies?" She gossips

"Is...is he suitably restrained?" the man asks nervously

"He's strapped down, though he wouldn't get far with those injuries of his he wasn't, and I have no doubt he'd be subdued again by either of these two gentlemen or the heroic miss" Danny says, sitting by his wife, looking exhausted "And Miss Anderton's statement is true, when they brought Mary and that brute here, he was close to bleeding out. If he did continue attacking while being shot, that would mean he had lost the use of both of his hands and a foot"

"Oh yeah he was a monster, not even bears can keep fighting with that much lead in them" You say as the pig cop swallows hard and laughs nervously

"M..may I use your phone, sir?" He asks, glancing down at his partner laid out on the floor "I need to make a call to my station, quickly"

He's scared of a man who can't even walk at the moment. That's kind of funny
