You are Ushi Walker, the half-japanese/half-american wielder of the mighty quirk “Everything is Bigger in Texas", one of U.A. High's top first-year students, a member of the second fastest team to beat their opponent in their Practical Exams (at the cost of getting shot with a fair few wax bullets) and now feeling pretty stuffed with food you didn't pay for.

No point in going out to a nice place if you aren't going to have your fill, and the small hidden-away tea shop Momo, Shoto and you found to unwind in after school was nothing but nice, as was the time spent eating and chatting with them about things like Shoto's overly plain costume.

For some reason, noticing something wrong is always way easier than figuring out how to fix it. Having just requested suggestions for the design from him, you look Shoto up and down, tapping your chin for a minute or two as you all take your time exiting the cafe.

You take in your friend walking beside you, picturing his neutral yet determined visage in his blue costume, his calloused hands splayed out ready to respond with either element of his quirk, or to possibly deflect or grab. From your many training sessions together you can easily visualize his toned body in an athletic stance, shifting weight between his feet as his sturdy shoulders sway, ready to spring like a hare. You imagine his breath keeping in tempo, alternating between chilling drafts and steamed puffs that have both equally prickled your skin when you two ha-

You make yourself blink hard, shake your head, and refocus on the task at hand. A large symbol could be embellished on the front...or possibly the back? But that could easily have him looking more like a fighting game character. Doesn’t really mesh with the community values of herodom... More equipment to cement his style? It'd be irresponsible to burden Shoto with learning to use and manage more gear he doesn't need just for aesthetic's sake. Your eyes linger over the imagined accessories on him, his boots, the bracers, his vest, his belt...

“Ah know you requested those items cuz they work for ya’, Ah reckon now you gotta make them YOURS..." You loudly declare while pointing at his midriff. You continue before either of your friends can ask you about your quiet staring. "Somehow! There's gotta be more than just blank metal plates and industry-grade fabric to take in. Think ‘bout not just shapes ‘n’ patterns, maybe even more color contrast? Break it up somehow, perhaps some ...black trim? Yellow maybe? Not both though, don't wanna look like a bee.”

Your train of thought runs out of track. You had just considered recommending an orange or red hue that would work well with his current navy tones, but there's already a related hero with a similar scheme that you don't want to even imply a comparison to while unwinding with your pals.

Instead you finish with a sigh and fall back on your original realization as you finally look back up at Shoto, very lightly shaking your head and pressing your thumbs to your own well-fitting belt and the flashy buckle that adorns it wherever you go. “What Ah know is that the belt sticks out like a sore thumb. That’s what tipped me off. They’re all just straight off the assembly line aren't they? No color, details or anythin'. You gotta do better than that sugah.”

>"Let's not pretend to instruct him on which designs to apply to his equipment, it’s personal preference after all... But he could lean into his heterochromia perhaps?" Momo briefly and quietly ponders besides you.

>"...I'll keep all that in mind." Shoto replies to you both after a second of consideration. While he doesn't look very interested in it, it still seems like he's taking your recommendations seriously. Just like how he noted your cooking tips way back during one of your first lunches together when you made sure to give free lessons to all that would hear at the table.

That simple memory of helping, echoed here again with Shoto, no matter how small the contribution, reinforces your smile briefly… Until you remember where you are and what you are doing. Or rather, did.

Eating and drinking on someone else's dime at a small and relatively expensive coffee shop. The lingering taste in your mouth reminds you that it was well worth the extra pennies... had you paid them. The fact that you didn’t rubs you the wrong way. Just like that, your gaze droops with your smile as you all leisurely walk away from the cafe and it's nearby hardware store towards the train line. Even if Momo insisted, it still feels to you like leeching.

>"Is there anything wrong?" Momo quickly asks, noticing your soured expression as she straightens some unseen wrinkles in her uniform.

"Not really…" You wave her concern off, faking a grin.

...And apparently doing a pretty poor job of it, since neither of your friends even bothers to pretend that they bought it.

>"Something you dislike, then." Shoto suggests.

"...Well, kinda." You admit with a sigh. "Not payin' nothin' still doesn't sit well with me, 's all. It’s in mah blood. Ah'll get over it, don'tcha worry."

>"If it bothers you so, how about you pay it back with a favor during the time at camp? I'm sure something will come up during our stay." Momo calmly offers, making you immediately think she doesn't plan on cashing it out.

"Sure, anythin'!" You agree despite your misgivings. Even if you are right about the favor, the fact that she's humoring you is still enough to pull your smile back out.

>"Anything within reason." Shoto affirms looking out for you again, but you wave that off too.

"Nah, I'm up for silly, zany and the ocassional stupid too." You tell them, puzzling both momentarily. "Ah know it's a trainin' camp still, but Ah'm sure we'll have time to have fun and goof off a bit."

You can hope for that much, right?

The rest of the afternoon and the walk towards the train station is pleasant, enough for the three of you to skip the usual stop used by most of U.A. Instead, you and your friends stroll all the way to the next one as you make small talk about the sights along the way and the upcoming camp trip, only changing the topic to farewells when you couldn't put it off any longer without missing your stop. Ending up god-knows-where in the Greater Tokyo Area is definitely not on your schedule after your busy day.

It's in part why it was so strange to see both their names pop up when your phone starts buzzing a few minutes into the final leg of your journey back. You just parted ways, what could they be texting you about that they couldn't have told you in person before?

>"Thank you for the invitation to hang out this afternoon." Momo wrote as a first message, then continues with a few more, in an uncharacteristic stream of thought.

>"You know, I'm not the most confident person (not what you want to hear from someone trying to be a hero [laughing emoji]) I'm certain I used to be worse in that regard too. Plans needed to be perfect, and falling short of my own expectations was nerve wracking to say the least."

She has always acted like the one person in the class that wouldn't be able to point at the smartest person in the room. You wonder if that's part of why she never comes off as pretentious or demeaning.

>"But now, I don’t freeze in place when something doesn’t go right. I feel like I can, permit me to say <Roll with the punches>, and I believe I owe that new part of myself to you." She continues in another message. "Not only for propping me up whenever I start to falter but giving me a standard to work towards, and If I may, surpass. I feel like I have improved much between our short match at the Sports Festival and our fight at the Survival Training exercise."

>"I hope that you have found it all as uplifting as I have, and that this partnership continues for us both." She finishes...

>"[MESSAGE DELETED BY SENDER]" ...Kinda. The last text from her is not exactly a message, but a glaring lack of one.

Strange, she's not one for take-backsies. A bit confused and plenty intrigued, you open Shoto's texts next. It starts oddly similar to Momo's.

>"Thank you for inviting me. I missed being dragged into things." He wrote. "I never doubted that you would make plenty of friends, but I didn't expect to make any myself. I'm glad we remain close."
>>
You tap your chin with your phone and lean back in your seat, bouncing your whole horn off the glass behind you as you contemplate the gratitude you just read. It's… surprising to you as well. Very. A year ago, back at home, you’d never thought that you could, well, connect and make friends like this. It was unfathomable. All of it just about stuns you enough from reacting or replying, but it dawns on you that may actually be your energy finally waning without any further socialization to keep you alert. You have classes in a couple days, and weeks after that to be with them and talk about whatever needs to be addressed. You decide that you are just too tired and there’s no need for you to reply immediately and accidentally insult someone.

By the time you got back to your and Momma's house, the sun was nowhere to be seen and you, still harboring wear and tear from your match against Snipe with Uravity, were ready to drop dead on your bed. And yet, you hold off on that for another hour as you were obliged to tell Momma everything about the day while she had a look at the new crack in your left horn and the bruising inside your shirt.

>"See? This is exactly why you need to have a check-up." She says as she hands you an old tub of cream following another Momma-sized hug. "Just in case, put that on before going to bed. Ah don't think there's any serious rupturing, but Ah've seen what an infection there does to a gal like us, so let's not take any chances, right hun?"

"<...This is ud…>" You try to complain as you read the worn and torn label, but a worried yet stern look from your mom stops you before you could go any further. "<Fine>."

With your career choice already making her dwell on the heightened chance of you getting injured or worse every day, there's just no good reason to make her fret about the state of your actual injuries too. You need to do your best to show her you can take care of yourself.

After a brief, painful shower and applying the medication, you just collapse on your bed. The toll of the day's activities once again snuffing out your consciousness before you can even throw the covers over yourself, wishing for nothing but to sleep it all off.

Your free Thursday… Another bona fide burrito day: Sleeping 'till lunch time, waking up fresh as a daisy and getting ready for the last few days in the week, taking inventory of what you'll need to bring to camp… You can only sigh thinking of what could have been.

Instead, you find yourself far from your bed and room, looking like a yawning mess as you enter the doctor's office, having made your way there before the 7AM appointment your Momma set for you.

"...Howdy." You say as you shuffle into the office, covering your mouth with the back of your hand.

After looking at the rather large yet simple room around you, the desk, examination table/bed and counter lined walls, you yawn again. There's nothing too notable or exciting in sight, just the fact that the sheer volume of printed paper and folders covering the desk completely obscures it's occupant.

You also hope that the press-looking machine in the corner isn't what you think it is, and if it is, you don't have to use it. The bruising sting's enough as is this morning, even after applying the ointment from Recovery Girl and the cream your Momma gave you..

>"I'll go ahead and assume that's you, Walker. Give me a second, I've spent all morning trying to get your records in order. Why can't you Americans just use government databases like normal people?..." A rough and smokey yet clearly female voice says as the desk shakes a bit, the piles of paper wobbling dangerously in response.

"We trust the feds as far as we can throw 'em." You tell the disembodied voice, a bit grumpy from the lackluster rest and for the jab at the homeland you hold dear. "<Outta mah property and business.>"

>"<Ye ken they already got where ye live an aw that, aight? Taxes n’ forms take care o’et.>" She replies, speaking in a surprisingly fluid English yet it’s so heavily accented you weren’t certain in your morning haze if it was that language at all. The voice continues as she emerges from the paperwork "Well, I can tell right now that the measurements are outdated… Oh, right. You are Walker, I'm Dr. McDaid, M.D. Specialist in diagnosis and treatment for those with Plantae-animalia cross-heteromorphism, got my shiny cardboard from LMU, and here to see and care for people just like you and me."

It takes you a second to finally come face to face with the voice's owner, and another one to fully realize the unkempt woman in front of you that you just shook hands with is truly your appointed doctor, what with her casual street clothes under her white lab coat, something you wouldn't have noticed if she had closed the thing. It likely wouldn't cover it all, but it would have kept all your attention on her soft face and all the fluff around it and encircling her neck along with her sheepish eyes and bar-shaped pupils.

"<Huh?>" You blurt out, a bit confused about what she meant with 'like you and me' as there’s not a single cow tail, ear or...anything else in sight.

>"< Wha innit, never seen a lass widda mane ‘for? Have a look er a whiff, I ken you can do that.>" She says ruffling up her neck fluff as she leans her head in near yours. You make an attempt to step away in bewilderment but your yawning and her being near your height already has you taking breath in of your apparent doctor.

"…It's not wool." You report back in Japanese, more intrigued than weirded out, but still fairly weirded out by both her behavior and accent. Normally, you would have gladly continued talking in English, but you are having a harder time understanding her in your native tongue than your shared Japanese.

>"Cotton. Much like your wooden horns, it's often indistinguishable from normative animal-based mutations but trust me, it's only an external manifestation of internal characteristics that can drastically change the kind of specialized care one should seek." Dr. McDaid explains, nodding slowly and making her fluff bounce. "Now that’s out of the way, let's check you up? Your mammy was sobbing on the phone and said everything and nothing was wrong with you all at once. It wasn't much help for figuring out anything specific."

Agreeing with a nod, puzzlement bubbling in your still-waking mind, you hop onto the table and take a seat, ready to follow instructions and provide answers to the usual medical questions as needed. The mere fact that her situation is somewhat similar to yours makes you feel more comfortable with her approaching you again as she goes through a full examination, even up to the point when she had you use the damned machine in the corner to have an internal look of your bust.

>"It's the newest model you can get in this country and working as softly as it can. That's as gentle as it gets and it came back clear, so wipe those tears off your face." She reassures you after the fact as you struggle to put your top back on without wincing, now even more sensitive to the fabric than when you arrived. "I'll admit it's nice to see a bovine lass getting injured by winning fights for once, but try to keep breast trauma to a minimum, as you are notably more susceptible to the related health risks than regular women, <okay>?"

"...What about the head trauma?" You ask, copying Pony's signature pose and making finger-horns next to your horns. "Ah've gotten quite a few hits upstairs since Ah enrolled in U.A. n’ still going strong! Ah’m starting to think I’ve got the noggin for it."

>"That's always bad. Don't do that." She deadpans, then steers her attention to your horns. "If you really need to make an impact, use the crown and horns to strike and gore, not the forehead, and please don't <fer the love of God> try to block with it. <Yer nadda ram, ye ken?>"

"'bout gorin'... Can you have a closer look at mah horns?" You ask, letting a bit of hope crawl into your voice.

>"Already done it." She says, sounding just a bit smug for a second, then covers her mouth and coughs. "The crack is a common injury, nothing to worry about unless you spend your time next to fungi for… fun. Really, stay away from fungi, you are prime real estate for them." Your doctor glowers for an instant before continuing. “The broken one is a bit more complex, the wood looks healthy, but the cornual nerve seems blocked or severed. I suppose it would be possible to intervene and return functionality to it, but it’s current state doesn't lower your quality of life enough for anyone to agree to take on the risks of the operation, much less on a minor. I would need further examination to be sure, but it would likely require endoscopic endolacrimal surgery or opening of the paranasal cornual sinus."

"Oh." You don't get most of it, but it's still a clear 'no', so it didn't take long for that little hope to shrivel up and die. ...Maybe you should have made the time to get an appointment sooner. Like ‘the day after the U.A. incident’ sooner.

>"Sorry lass, but the procedure is mostly done the other way around, severing the nerve when there's severe damage or pain to allow the patient to keep their horns for aesthetic reasons." She says, briefly shaking her head and looking like a rolling cloud on a windy day. "Speaking of aesthetics, let me give you some good news to lift your spirits after all that: Nothing stops your broken horn from growing back besides the charred, dead wood in the way. I'd recommend surgical pruning to remove it during your spring break, that way your body will be at it's best to heal and you'll be ready for your school pictures."

"Why not now?" You ask, indeed feeling better yet still confused by the apparent long wait for a resolution.

>"Honestly? Because I'm afraid it'd kill you." She says with a grimace, shocking you. She then picks up one of the folders off the desk and flips through the files within. "You are studying to be a hero, and it'll be great to see you rise up the billboard chart in a couple years, but I can't recommend a procedure that requires time and calm to heal while under the stress you are currently putting on your body. It's not a risky procedure, it's considered ambulatory even. However, if you were to break it again after being cut but before it fully heals… it could be like having an open tap on top of your skull. Of syrup… your blood. Quite possibly some brains too if the pressure shifts violently enough. So please, don't try to ‘handle’ it by yourself either."

"Yeah… Ah'm good, not doin' that on mah own." You meekly agree. Still, good to know that it's not totally hopeless. You just need to find some long downtime without fights. It shouldn't be that hard.

Despite your numerous traumas and haematomas, you seem to be doing pretty well over all, if not outright great. The constant exercise you endure has ensured that your body works like a well oiled machine, fit as a fiddle… The only nitpick your new doctor had to offer being that you should focus on your legs for now as to not risk injury when putting your lower body under the same stress as your exemplar upper body, especially when utilizing your quirk. While you wouldn't admit it out loud, you also did better than you thought you would with the silly cards with facial expressions the doctor used as part of her tests to make sure you didn't knock a screw loose. Despite the beatings, U.A. has been good for you.

Heh, I wonder if training our legs up would help us do better at Edgeshot's ninja obstacle course. We never did conquer the incline floor/wall-run. As I recall, our "high center of gravity" was part of the issue.

If her mom is anything to go by, ushi gonna be stronger than a normal human someday.

>If her mom is anything to go by, ushi gonna be stronger than a normal human someday.
Ushi is quite a ways past human level already. She would win Quirkless 1v1 against anyone at UA staff included except for maybe Vlad or maybe Kendo since as we've seen with Monoma she carry human beings like they are plastic bags. On that topic has anyone noticed how in the colored material Re-Destro and Kendo share the exact same hair color. The liberation quirk also has been shown to start with the hands and forearms when enhancing and enlarging limbs. It's also important to note Kendo's mask seems both conveniently designed in both the fact that it covers the parts of her face where the liberation quirk's markings first appear and it's dark coloration.

When you take in the visual similarities, the similar ways their quirks function, the fact that Liberation is shown to be a quirk that passes from parent to child with very little changes and Kendo's natural talent as a leader, It's not too impossible to believe that Kendo through careful training was able to learn to use her quirk while minimizing the amount of visual signs of it's true nature. That opens up the possibility that she was the traitor and that USJ was a false flag that was designed to draw the League into a specific location so that they could be studied and tracked. If the UA security systems ran on Feel Good Inc. software than the jamming could have been caused by backdoor tampering on the school's private network. Alternatively Re-Destro could just be a good father who supports his daughter's dreams and aspiration even if it could lead to them one day becoming enemies on the battlefield.

There's also the matter of a certain unexplained...growth...that became apparent during the joint training arc. While Momo's...development...could be attributed to her aggressive calorie intake and intentionally leaving her lipids in some areas untouched Kendo's increase makes no sense as her more rigorous training regimen would leave her overall much more lean in that area. Did Kendo start using her quirk to try and compete with Momo's Momos. Once Momo noticed did the growth she had after the joint training arc come from her eating more because she was worried that Kendo would catch up. Is there going to be an unspoken "arms race" between the vice president of 1-A and the president of 1-B over breast envy? Is Ushi, being the anomaly in the timeline going to catch Kendo experimenting with one of the most powerful close-combat quirks in the setting for cosmetic purposes?

Big doubt.

Anything she could help you with?... Not having made the appointment yourself nor having planned for it in any way, it takes you a few seconds to clear your thoughts and come up with a few questions you'd like Dr. McDaid to answer: one that had been in the back of your mind for a while and a new one spinned up by her just now.

"Ya… a couple things, actually! You said something 'bout me bein' more susceptible to stuff if Ah keep gettin' hit in the chest… What's with that?" You decide to address the latter first, feeling like it'd be best to get all the potentially icky stuff out of the way as fast as possible.

>"It's a matter of…" Dr. McDaid starts, eyes turned upward in thought, then just as quickly stops as if to consider her next words before shrugging and ramming on regardless. "Size and structure, really."

"Yeah, Ah figured it'd be harder to miss 'em." You deadpan, crossing your arms and trying to suppress a wince as your bust support shifts.

"<Orite, orite> I thought I was talking to a smart cow, not a <smart ass>. One moment..." She says, picking up a tablet from the desk and sliding her finger across the screen for a minute before setting it down on the desk again, an hologram springing into existence above it. "So, this is what the machine spat out while you cried."

"Hey, Ah wasn't crying-crying!" You huff at her accusation, trying to come up with an alternative explanation, failing, and then pointing at the painfully compressed hologram of your chest. "A-anyway, that barely even looks like anythin'. What are we lookin' for?"

>"You see those lines the- Actually, all over this area? That's fibroglandular tissue surrounded by all the fat, nothing odd or abnormal, there's just a lot of it here." Dr. McDaid explains, pointing at what looks like a spiderweb amongst the vast blackness. "Thirty six milk ducts that I can count, nothing off about that either, just a bit higher a count than you'd expect from a second generation bovine muta-<Stop that>, you asked and it's your body."

"Eeeegh." You scoff, unsure if the shivers running along your back are due to disgust, but you definitely don't want to hear anymore of it.
>>
>"Okay, I'll make it short. It's all plugged until it's in use, so it's hard to damage them, but it's still more likely for you and more likely that you'll end up bleeding into your bra than it'd be for most people. It can become serious enough to leave you unable to breastfeed your kids if you keep getting beaten up. Most of the time it would be benign, not a cause for concern, but you must come back in if anything lasts more than a couple days or the bleeding doesn't stop to prevent the worst of it, <orite?>" McDaid urges, and waits for an affirmation from you before tapping the tablet and killing the hologram. "Also, for the same reason, I'd strongly advise against taking milk accelerants. With that said, I’m obligated to disclose that if you were to choose to induce lactation for commercial purposes, as within your rights of your heteromorphic heritage, I'd still recommend that over a teenage pregnancy if you wish to start-"

"Don't worry! Don't plan on either! Never heard of 'em!" You quickly cut her off before she tells you more about something you absolutely positively don't care about. "Ah’ve got another question, so, if we can please move on…"

>"Sure, we have time for a bit more before it crosses over into the next timeslot." She replies, shooting a glance at a clock on the wall.

"...Y'all don't charge per hour, right?" You ask, suddenly curious. "Ah didn't bring enough to cover anythin' extra… or anythin' at all."

>"Nah, it'd be just unfair to the next patient to leave them waiting, especially if their appointment is for a given hour.." She shrugs before waving her hand at you. "Besides, your student insurance and taxes are paying for this, so don't worry about that."

"Oh." You say, shaking your head to forget about everything you just heard before you proceed. "Right, so Ah've been experimentin' with mah quirk, tryin' new stuff 'nd trainin', and Ah was wondering if there was anythin' you can tell me to, like keep in mind or avoid? For example, if Ah try to hold off the mist mah quirk makes, it feels like Ah'm asphyxiatin' or crampin' somethin'... Does that make sense?"

McDaid just looks at you for a couple seconds, then smiles.

>"It's not often that kids ask about quirk side effects when they notice them, you know? Most just accept them as 'the cost of power' or are too shy to talk about what harm they are doing to their bodies… Until they land in the E.R." She tells you, nodding and incidentally fluffing herself as she walks back to her desk.

"...Ah can imagine." You agree and nod back, thinking of a particular green haired boy that somehow got into U.A. despite snapping his own limbs every time he used his quirk. Deku has gotten better, a lot better, but he still made you glad to not have bones.
>>
>"So, good on you for bringing it up! There's a problem however..." She says before glancing at one of the many papers on her desk. "’<Everything is Bigger in Texas>’. Allows the user to absorb and redistribute mass, as well as store mass in some sort of inner, non-physical reservoir. Taxing on stamina and blood sugar."

"'yuup! So whats the catch?" You proudly affirm and have to actively stop yourself from shining your knuckles on your chest. All the while smiling at the somewhat robotic yet accurate description of your quirk.

>"...That's literally all your file says." She continues, nonplussed. "I have no further idea of what it looks like or how it works, other than you might need a Wham Bar or two on the job."

“Oh… Bread is my go-to complex carb, actually.” You remark, digging into the small yet always big-enough bag you usually carry, and taking out a tinfoil-wrapped homemade loaf of bread, baked by your mom this past week with extra love and slightly less salt than you would have usually made it with. Exam prep took all your otherwise free time (including today...), so you hadn’t been in the kitchen as much as you’d like.

>"A… thimble?" The physician asks, squinting at the tiny metallic thing between your fingers as she approaches the examination table once more.

Taking her confused staring as your cue, you shift your grip underneath to hold it between all five fingers and enlarge it back to size in a puff of white mist, all of which is quickly absorbed by the tinfoil.

"Ta-dah!" You boast, tearing the tinfoil off the loaf and sending crumbs flying. "Four pounds of sourdough! A perfect pick-me-up, really."

>"...Do you always have a- you know what, nevermind. It’s a… very flashy quirk, fits the description." Dr. McDaid absentmindedly remarks, more focused on the crumbs now scattered on the floor than your display of might and baked goods. "Was that the mist you were talking about?"

"Oh? Yef!" You mumble, having torn off a piece of the loaf stuffed it into your mouth, holding up what's left of the bread. "Loof."

You hold out the bread once more and at head height with the open crumb facing McDaid. Her eyes now fixated as you start to shrink the loaf once more. The mist reappears, this time rushing from the loaf and towards your extended arm, vanishing nigh instantly into your skin. You don’t quite get the loaf back down to its travel size when she motions you to halt, causing you to momentarily stop your quirk and your absent-minded chewing.

>“Your hand, all 5 digits need contact before emission can take effect?” She questions you, her tone having changed from a kind-of personable doctor to… clinical researcher, if you had to give it a name. "Have you tried using 4 or less?"

"'yuup." You nod, still awkwardly holding the oddly sized loaf aloft. You are surprised how quickly she guessed the precondition for EiBiT. "Growin' or shrinkin', it's gotta be all five or it does nothin'... Actually, it just <doesn't>. No resistance or anythin’. Kinda like tryin' to jump while in the air, Ah guess."

>"Interesting..." McDaid says, seemingly reaching for your hand, but grabbing at your bread instead, ripping off a chunk and bringing it to her face, sniffing it a bit. "Doesn't smell strange, still ambient temperature…"

"Hey! ...My snack..." You lament as she initially analyzes it, then bites into it. You also notice that her teeth are flat.

>"Does your quirk interact with sodium content in any way? Because this could use a spoonful of salt or three." She then asks, covering her mouth yet still talking through a full mouth. Strangely, her accent is seemingly unaffected, staying just as hard to understand as before.

"Hey, Ah got nothin' to do with that!" You rebuke her… then agree. "But yeah, it really needs more salt. Momma likes ’em sweeter.”

>"Get the other chunk back to its original size, please. I want to be sure." She asks, to which you immediately comply, pumping it full of mass, effectively obscuring it behind the mist for but a fraction of a second as it expands before she tears off another piece from it. "Mind if I keep it? I want to look at it under a microscope later. Gotta make sure it's not undergoing crystallization or something."

"Sure, gotta make sure the yeast ain't mutatin' or somethin', right?" You ask with a chuckle as you set the remainder of the loaf aside for the time being.

>"...What?" She asks, her attention much more focused on the crumbs and incidentally getting more of them in her mane.

"Sorry, old joke of mah Pa's. Forget about it." You admit, rubbing your arm.

>"<'orite>… I assume you have tried with plenty of materials, but with something as common as food it should be easier to notice differences. Do all foods and drinks maintain their structure after… ‘Upscaling’?" The doctor asks, sounding like she's quizzing you.

"Uhm… Yeah? It's the same stuff but bigger, you know? Drinks stay all the same, no dilution. But fiber-y stuff like meat has all the fibers gettin' thicker and it kinda ruins the texture, you know? Also, marbling really doesn't hold up when you enlarge a stake and the fat chunks are the size of your fist." You elaborate, tapping your chin as you recall past barbeques back at home. "So Ah guess Ah could just keep enlargin' a piece of meat for a while, but the muscle fibers would only get bigger and chewier. Works with ground beef though."

>"You should drop the meat." She tells you casually, her mouth partially full of her normal-sized bread sample now.

"...Ah can stop usin' mah quirk on it, if there's sumthin' wrong with it?" You ask, alarmed in more than one way.
>>
>"No, you just don't need it." McDaid shrugs then swallows while picking up a questionnaire from her desk, the one she had made you fill out while she looked at your x-rays. "Few people really need it, but your body is especially good at absorbing carbs and processing complex natural fibers, so there's no reason for you to eat meat. I was honestly surprised when you checked off being a carnivore and omnivore here… twice."

"Been all mah life, Ah'm in it for the flavor and <cussing>." You tell her, making it clear you aren't planning on any lifestyle changes.

>"Cuisine?" She asks, visibly confused.

"Yeah, that damn thing." You sharply nod.

>"Okay, but do come back when you get gout <orite?>" The doctor remarks, setting down the questionnaire and switching to an empty pen before handing it off to you. "I want you to use your quirk on this when I tell you to"

She then proceeds to cover the pen as you hold it.

>"Now."

"You know, havin' more stuff touchin' it makes it a lot harder." You pour on the sarcasm and smirk. "Now it takes a lil' bit of focus."

But she doesn't seem to care about your boasting nor how proud you are of the training you've done, instead focusing on holding her fingers in the way of the short lived mist your quirk produces. The mist however flows under her finger without slowing down, covering the pen and disappearing into it once you stop.

>"That's… More ethereal than I expected, since it clearly reflects some light." She muses out loud, combing the fluff under her chin as she twiddles the fingers that were just touching the now sharpie-thick pen, apparently trying to find some sort of residue or evidence of its passing.

After a repeat of the test, this time shrinking the pen, she shrugs.

>"Seems illogical and an affront to every relevant axiom of biology and physics." She says, not sounding bothered by her declaration. "Par for the course for the stronger quirks."

"God's gifts work as he wills them to do." You solemnly nod. "It's up to us to cultivate them and use them for good, though."

>"...Orite. That's as good an explanation as any." She says, hitting the pen on her desk, as if trying to check if it sounds any different. "Has the mass transfer always been this fast?"

"'nope! That’s from trainin'." You say, taking the pen from her hand and enlarging it to a foot long in a fraction of a second with a puff of mist and a tiny sonic boom, conjuring a distinctive Crack!. "Got it to ‘pretty dang fast’ with the help of mah Pa back home and to supersonic speeds here by the time of the entrance exams for U.A. When Ah try… It's not always a good idea. Hurts people's ears an' stuff."

>"Because your own are already <fook'd>." She grumbles, then immediately covers her mouth. "I mean… Have you tried applying both effects of your quirk to an object? Simultaneous upscaling and reduction?"

"...Yeah. A metal rod." You admit, not completely comfortable with the memory at the Todoroki residence. Dr. McDaid picks up the change in your demeanor immediately as her eyes ...Her pupils?, grow disturbingly wide, as if she just hit pay dirt. "It kinda… shrieked and tore itself apart."

>"Show me." She says, her voice more stern now but with an undercurrent of excitement as she points at the last portion of bread you have.

"...Okay." You mutter, taking a deep breath and making sure you are holding both ends of the bread at arms reach before activating your quirk.

As soon as you start shifting mass in both ‘directions’, the crust of the bread starts twisting, forming a tightening ring while the inside is reduced to shreds. Bits and flakes are thrown all over the floor until the loaf finally tears into pieces, one growing, one shrinking and the rest sprinkled all over your legs and boots.

>"...My professional advice is to not try that on anything living, nor anywhere where it's hard to clean." McDaid says, looking rather dismayed at the mess on the floor before letting out an overly loud sigh. “I think we’ve covered enough for today and we can return to your question now. You mentioned leaving the mist out, can you show me that too?"

"...Can Ah use the pen? Ah ran outta bread." You request, looking down at all the wasted goodness. She quickly hands you the now familiar utensil. "Please make it quick, cuz this ain't nice. Here Ah go."

First, you enlarge the pen as normal, two feet long this time. Then you start shrinking it, making a conscious effort to not recall the mist, leaving it surrounding the now normal sized pen.

It feels like someone is pulling your ribs from inside, crushing your chest and not letting you breathe comfortably, saddling every breath with a burning pain, worsening by the second. You can only imagine it must be similar to what drowning feels like.

>"Hold it for as long as you can." Dr. McDaid urges you as she bursts into action and slaps a bracelet on your upper arm and starts configuring something on her tablet. "I can tell it's already not comfortable, and the data will likely be helpful, but feel free to ...absorb it whenever. We are not here to cause distress."

You nod and sit ramrod straight, trying to ignore the feeling, managing to withstand it for about a minute before recalling the mist back to you.It soothes the burning sensation like a bucket of ice-cold water but still leaves you panting.

>"Well, this is rather helpful." She says, taking the bracelet off your arm. "Quirks are, developmentally speaking, aptly compared to muscles, and yours seems to act like a diaphragm that happens to spit on the face of physics. Probably some lung emulation too, given your complex physiology."

"...No smokin', got it." You enthusiastically nod, still catching your breath.

>"...Sure, why not." McDaid comments, then shakes her head, fluff and all as she focuses back on her tablet. "But what I meant is that it seemed to affect you in a very similar way to holding one's breath. It stands to reason that you could use this, being careful not to over-strain yourself, to train your quirk capacity in much the same way as swimmers and singers train their lung capacity."

"Ooh… You sure?" You ask, startled by the revelation and wondering how to apply this new knowledge.

>"No. Hardly any conclusions can be drawn about quirks without experimentation. And honestly, more research would be required to determine the actual extent of harm occurring during the 'asphyxiation' of your ‘quirk lungs' But it seems like a good theory, especially considering your actual lungs." The doctor explains, pointing at your chest. "From what I've seen and listened to from your thorax, your lungs are both significantly malleable and porous. It's a pretty common trait in those of plant heritage to increase porosity when the oxygen supply is kept low. You could try that as well."

"Ah'll keep it in mind if Ah end up onna mountain some day." You tell her, nodding the entire time and starting to feel like a bobbing bird toy. "No sarcasm, Ah swear."

>"Orite… I'll clean up here, send this in for analysis along with your biometrics and call you if anything pops up." She says, bagging what's left of the half of the loaf she took from you. "Don't worry, if there's anything wrong, I'm sure the boys at Jaku will find it, they have the largest quirk health program in the country... Must be nice getting all those grants.”

She then turns to you, her cheery yet brusque nature having apparently returned.

>"Anyways, I wanted to encourage you on looking out for yourself again and reassure you I’m here to help with more than just injuries. It's those types of questions that can help you get a leg up out there. From your file and school records, it looks like you’ve already made major headway towards being a hero and I would be more than happy to help a <brilliant lassie> like you to reach her full potential." McDaid comments as you wipe the remaining crumbs off your pants and prepare to leave. "Feel free to come back when you feel like you've hit a ceiling and we can start looking at some regiment changes together including that diet of yours."
>>
You mumble out another non-committal at that last remark but soon follow it up with a genuine handshake, full of gratitude as you said your goodbyes to Dr. McDaid before departing her office, all while your mind races to digest the new info you just garnered… about yourself, surprisingly enough. And you were thinking your training and improvements would slow down to a crawl following your term exam. Seems like the opposite if anything. It kind of leaves you feeling a bit guilty that it was your mom rather than yourself that scheduled the appointment.

You wonder if this is how Deku feels all the time, what with his mutterings and questions as you take a moment in the hallway of the office complex to collect yourself…

Quickly blinking and squinting at the sudden morning sun, you walk out to the shadow of the building and take out your phone, wondering what to do with what's left of this free day… Maybe text someone and get together?

If you thought that was lorefagging wait until you see this. IF you read into things a bit to much and speculate the canon material goes from pretty okay to amazing really quick. That's part of the reason I like this quest, Mic thinks of the things that Hori doesn't and really makes the world feel lived in.

Hmmm, that is an interesting point, but from what we've seen of the show and manga intellect boosting Quirks are, while not too common, fairly simple too come across in some form or another, there really is no way to say the High Spec AfO has is the same kind as our fuzzy Principle. But we don't know much about the doctors that experimented on him, so he may not even know he's a traitor, and has a codeword or phrase trigger like Clone Troopers from Star Wars.

This image is 2 years out of date. Dr. Ujiko's quirk is confirmed to be the longevity quirk that AfO has. As you stated IQ quirks are at least somewhat common, and with the recent Hospital raid arc it is confirmed possible for a quirk to be duplicated through scientific means without the use of AfO. It's not only possible but likely that every single Nomu uses copies of the same regeneration quirk.

If you thought that was crazy get ready for this. In Vigilantes Rokuro Nomura, after being given Knuckle Duster's overclock quirk began receiving advice from an apparition of him from his days as the Pro Hero O'Clock. While it would be easy to write this off as 20th century schizoid man delusions, with what we know about One for All there are some absolutely profound implications. It's possible that when a quirk is transferred it still retains an "imprint" of it's owner at the time it was taken. This imprint is still-semi sentient and active within the mind of the new owner. This is why unmodified humans go insane when they have multiple quirks implanted in them and why lower-end Nomus have to be extensively lobotomized in order to function.

This understanding would explain a minor plot hole in an All Might flashback. During that flashback Nana explains to All Might that the past users of One for All will be reunited within the quirk after death. To which All Might remarks "That sounds like something occult." The problem is that it would be impossible for her to know this, All Might said that none of the previous users had visions like Deku did and without these visions it would have been impossible for Nana to know this. There are 3 theories to explain this.

1. The ever popular Bak-U-Go thoery which suggestes that one of the past users of OfA that is obscurured from view is in fact Bakugo who got sent back in time through Eri plot contrivance. Once he was sent to the past Bakugo then passed on OfA to the first user and taught him how the quirk worked.

2. My theory. Quirk apparitions are a documented albeit obscure phenomena that Nana learned about from records taken from Ujiko's labs

3. Nana Shimura secretly a hobby occultist and spent her entire carrier hiding her power level. She discovered the properties of One for All while astral projecting, doing peyote or some other strange activity. This makes her death even more of a tragedy because of how impossibly rare Occultist Amazon milfs are.

You're a bit behind on the manga, I see. That's not a theory anymore, that's explicitly confirmed by the most recent arc. It's central to All For One's plans with Tomura, transferring his Quirk to him allows the imprint of his consciousness inside it to control Tomura. The imprint also explains to Izuku (they get into a weird psychic shared space at one point while fighting) that All For One and One For All aren't special in containing imprints of the users within them, it's just that most people never get the chance to realize this about Quirks because Quirk transfer doesn't normally happen. It doesn't appear to be directly related to people's minds being overwhelmed by multiple Quirks, though, according to All For One it causes nightmares if the imprints are opposed to the new user but he doesn't mention anything about brain damage. That looks like it's the explanation Garaki gave about just being too much information for the brain to handle,

I'm all caught up with the manga but I guess I never put the two phenomena together. I assumed that The mind control was a specific quirk but now that I think about it that makes sense. All for One created a duplicate of his own quirk and gave the original to Shiggy. The imprint that was attached to the original somehow linked up to the copy that All for One had which allowed him to puppet him somewhat.

This speculation is fun, I'm liking the tempo going on here. Alright, time to bring out the big guns.

Denji is cannon according to this cameo, and the public safety commission shares the same name in both series. Does this mean that Makima is also real? If Ushi gets assigned to the mansion raid a few hundred threads from now is there a chance that we will just run into Denji, Aki or Power by complete coincidence? Does this happen after the events of Chainsaw man part 1 in a timeline where Denji gets a hero license and starts wearing his suits from his time at the safety commission because he is too poor to actually buy proper support gear? Are we going to have to deal with the gun Devil? So many questions from a single panel.
>>
>>4650515
I'd say probably no if taken literally, but yes if taken as local-setting analogues. Not a version of Denji who is fused with the Chainsaw Devil, but one who naturally has a Chainsaw Quirk, and who fought a version of Makima who was "just" an extremely powerful mind controller and not the literal personification of control.

Basically: AfO invests more time and dedication to Tenko's growth as a criminal instead of just using him as a vessel for AfO and payback to All Might, teaching him the works of psychological warfare, how to manipulate the masses, the innerworkings of the goverment and the various agencies that form it, and sends him out as a version of Nolan's Joker, except without the scars.
I want to write a smart Shigaraki who was genuinely meant to hold AfO's position as the head of all crime by completely suppressing the Hero Society, thing is: Shigaraki still wants to destroy society instead of owning it, thus he will make himself enemy of everyone, including AfO.

My schemes are mostly practice for the quest I'm going to run some time in about 6 months or so. Tell me, doesn't my prose sound familiar, like you've heard it somewhere else, long before I made my declaration of drawing hot, sweaty Oni sex? The honest truth is that you've been caught in my web of autism for about 3 months. My main goal in bringing you here was to make sure that a kindred spirit was drawing masterfully detailed ass and getting paid. But there was another, to show you something. This board is the kiln on which the passion you see now was lit. There was a request you took those many months ago that is part of the tapestry of something long since dead and buried.

There's unwritten rule I've learned is my studies in preparation for what is to come. To weave great sagas, one must also understand how to weave the hearts of men. This has all been part of a greater narrative I have set out for you Gutsbro, a tale of ascension from nothing into a beacon of higher culture for all those who treasure abs. That story about to hit the equivalent of Attack on Titan's basement mindbreak that set the foundation for the based and redpilled things that followed. Accompanying the third post of that screencap is the utterance of a name. Seek that name out. All the sparse fragments I have scattered about my past words will becoming blindingly clear. This hole goes deeper then you could ever imagine.

I don't expect you to have a response right away, there's a lot of reading to do there once you find it. Once you have borne witness to that truth in it's entirety, I ask a single question only worthy of a monolith of sophistication such as yourself. With what you've seen me do, am I worthy to carry that legacy?

It's been a while since you glared at the sun with such resentment, a symptom of having to encounter early daylight after a hard day of getting beaten up rather than keeping your head planted in your pillow. All told, it has been at least... a few days since the last time you gave it the stink eye.

But that's a silly attitude to keep for a whole Thursday that you would be typically stuck in school for. So you look away and sigh through a smile, ready to make the most of the morning you were forced to face. Seems like a fine opportunity to catch up on at least something.

Looking down at the phone in your hand, you make a snap decision and send a message to Shoto's bespectacled lunchmate and the boy that gave you a surprisingly polite and painless confession.

"Hey sugar, recovering from the exam but still feel good enough for a light jog. Wanna join in like an hour? Gotta go change." You quickly type and send it to Iida Tenya. You told him you would go for a run some day after all. And while this won't be much of a race in your current state, it's the best you can do.

>"I would like to! I'll be ready to meet up in an hour." He sends back before you could even stuff your phone back into your bag. "This is good timing too. Something came up that I wanted to talk to you about."

"Are you trying to make it sound ominous?" You reply as you walk back to the nearest train station. People seem to do that a lot in this country...

>"Not at all, I simply believe there are some things better conveyed in person, when we can make full use of our communication skills." He explains, somehow making it sound even weirder. You can’t help but think the truth is so that he can do that thing with his arms...

You smirk at the idea and send back your own foreboding text, "We'll see…", before getting notifications of some travel routes from him immediately after, each of which starts from the entrance of U.A. At least you know where you’ll be meeting up now.

The wait at the train station as well as the ride back to the house are both eerily calm, as there's barely anyone going anywhere. A pleasant consequence of riding during off-peak hours. You had only three people staring at you throughout the entire trip, and you are fairly sure the first two were quietly trying to ascertain whether you really were the Sports Festival champion! ...The third was probably just a pervert, but that's still a winning ratio!

It is only fitting that to make up for the unusually calm trip, you are immediately confronted by a loud commotion as soon as you enter the house.

"What's go-" You try to ask as you kick the door close behind you, but an all-too-familiar smothering hug immediately muffles you into silence.

>"We got mail hun!" Your mom enthusiastically squee's as she continues squeezing you, causing your wooden rib cage to creak audibly. Fortunately, she takes the cue and lets you go. "Sorry about that hun, you okay?"

"Well, Ah ain't any worse, doc says Ah'm fine too.The creams from you and Recovery Girl should ‘suffice’ as she put it." You answer, rubbing at your sides and feeling thankful that nothing hard pressed against your bruising. "What happun'? Good news Ah assume?"

>"We are going to <I-Island>!" She announces, waving a letter and pamphlet in front of your face as enthusiastically as her tail whips behind her and too fast for you to read anything. "I've started to make the arrangements, Rik can house sit while we are gone, and it's not too long so it shouldn't be an issue. You'll be back well before your camp-thing! It's perfect!"

"...<What?>" You blurt out, taken aback by her enthusiasm to go to the place with the highest concentration of nerdom per square mile known to mankind.

>"Well, a certain engineer's gonna be there to present some schematics and do some networking at the <I-Expo> that they host..." She says, smiling as wide as you’ve ever seen her do. "And since this year the island will float close to Japan, he requested extra formal invitations for his family…"

It takes you a couple of seconds to piece it all together. If anyone had questioned it, you’d have blamed the lack of burrito-based sleep.

”...We get to see Pa?!" You ask starting to bounce in place from excitement before wincing in pain and stopping. It isn’t enough to bring down your mood though, it has been months since you saw him in person!

>"Not right now… But YES!" Your mom answers, showing you exactly who you learned that excited bounce as well as the sing-song voice from. And with Momma’s frame, it more than explains the racket. “We’ll have to get you some new dresses, just in case. We are likely to join him at some big to-do evening dinner at some point during the week. Did you know there's 5 Michelin ranked restaurants in its guest sector alone?! 5!"

"Ah think Ah have 'nuff frilly dresses already… Besides, Ah'm not sure Ah'd even wanna go to a fancy party anyway." You jokingly scoff, carefully crossing your arms and looking aside, incidentally noticing another, unopened letter on the kotatsu. "More mail? Not for you then?"

>"Oh? That one's for you. Didn't open it… Looked a fair bit like junk mail” She replies half-heartedly, obviously not paying it or you any more attention than she can afford. She is nearly dancing with her piece of paper by the time you retrieve the surprisingly heavy clasped envelope.

The second clue that this was no ordinary junk mail was the tree trunk branching into circuitry embossed onto the envelope. It looks somewhat familiar, the logo surely belonging to something you touched on at school.

After shaking it a bit trying to guess what's in the envelope and not getting anything more specific than 'paper', you just tear the side open and take it out.

"Yada yada… Laurien Corp. congratulates you on your victory…" You skim the overly-formal, padded letter. "...wishes to invite you and a companion of your choice to attend this year's I-Expo, to celebrate your accomplishments and witness and try the innovations and improvements upon existing technologies we aspire to provide to our future partners,... top heroes of tomorrow such as yourself! Ah'm likin' these guys already! Hey Ma', you won’t believe it Ah got more inv-"

You quickly turn around, about to make a joke for your audience of one when you notice she has already left. Paying a bit of attention to your ears quickly tells you she went upstairs, her hooves still noisily bouncing, just farther away.

"Oh… At least Ah still got mah own invitation… Wait." You look at the double invitation in your hand, then think back to the one Momma was holding. "Like... three of 'em now."

It says you are supposed to bring a plus one… But it seems you might be able to get away with two… But who?

At least now you have something to think about on the jog. But the last thing you wanna do is make one of your friends feel left behind or forgotten…

Then your musings are interrupted by the rumbling of your phone.

>"Did you find any of my proposed routes agreeable?" Reads a new text from Iida, innocent by itself, but reminding you to hurry up.

"They all look pretty nice." You answer without even opening your GPS app.

You stuff the letter back into its envelope and take it upstairs into your room, leaving it on your desk as you quickly make a mess out of your dresser, especially your underwear drawer, digging out one of your favorite sports bras, the reinforced yet comfy kind you need to actually do any kind of strenuous physical activity without accidents. Then put on a second one on top of it, to make sure everything not only stays in place but doesn't move too much.

It takes some patience and care to get it just right… Enough for you to start running late to a meeting you yourself just arranged. Not late enough to dash out pantless or anything silly, you put on some spats for that. Just enough for you to just grab the first jacket Tin hands to you on your way out of your room, taking care to grab hold of your diminutive bag while heading out the door.

After sending a text to Momma that you’ll be going out for her to see when she comes down from the clouds, you try to keep your nerves in check on the way there by looking at the sky and ceilings and thinking about everything else besides how late you were. Like all of the sudden decisions you face with I-Expo. Like what to do with your extra tickets. Like if you even want to attend the sponsors meeting and whatever frou frou events they might have on I-Island instead of spending more time with your Pa.

Preoccupied by all that, you don’t even notice what amount of staring you incited this time as you make your way to the main U.A. entrance. You’re so stuck in your own thoughts, you almost complete the trip by rote memory alone. Almost, but every so often, you double-take in confusion at how different your morning route looks and feels (and smells) around noon. Each time it makes you check you haven't taken a wrong turn somewhere before double-timing in the right direction.

As expected and rued, you arrive late, but something strange was awaiting you.

...No one. Despite easily arriving twenty minutes late, Iida is nowhere to be seen, your only company being the shining robotic camera under a sliding panel in the arch, checking whether you were authorized or if the system needed to raise the gates.

"Howdy, KT1-Oh-78! Quite a quiet day, right? You ain't seen anyone else 'round 'ere today?" You greet it, referring to the robot by an engraved number under the camera that Tin pointed out one day on the way into school. The lens focuses on you for only a moment longer before it recognizes you as a student and disappears back under its cover. "...Ah guess that's a no."

After a minute of further looking around, you take out your phone.

"Hey, sugar, did something happen?" You ask him in a new text message.

>"Nothing new! I'm just running late! I'm almost there!" He sends in three rapid fire texts, for some reason.

And indeed, there he comes, running towards you and trailed by a rising dust cloud, leaving a small trail of his running shoes soles on the pavement as he comes to a not-so-sudden stop in front of you.

>"I apologize for the delay!" He immediately announces in his 'drill instructor'-esque voice, enthusiastically bowing halfway to the floor. You feel like you could have placed a log in the way and his head would have gone right through it. "Thank you for waiting for me, Walker!"

"To be honest sugah, Ah kind of just got here mahself." You admit with a sheepish shrug. "But it ain't quite like you to be late. What took you so long?"

>"Ah… Well, I was accompanying my brother. His recovery is going faster than the doctors predicted, but he still needs to attend frequent check-ups." He says, his earlier smile briefly cracking into stern focus. "I couldn't leave him alone after he asked for my company, I hope you understand. After that, I made my way here as soon and as fast as I could."
>>
"Of course Ah do! You just had to tell me it was for family and Ah'd have waited without issue!... <Hell> if ya gone 'nd told me you left him to come here, then we'd have some problems! Ah'd have scolded you, maybe smack you some too!" You tell him, stopping yourself before going off on him for doing the right thing. Then you take a look at him. "...And Ah guess that explains the get up?"

>"...I had to run home to change. Was I too hasty?" The speedster asks, looking down at himself as well and making you chuckle. A pair of blue compression shorts with black stripes running down its short length and a water bottle strapped to his leg, along with his U.A. gym jacket. "Oh. It seems we match, at least?"

Looking down and at your arms, you can't disagree. It's on inside-out, but now that you stop to look at it, your quickly selected jacket is your own U.A. gym jacket.

"Well, shoot. Ah guess yer right. Top of the rack and all that" You exclaim, taking it off and then putting it on properly. "Much better."

>"Mostly, anyway." He says, looking down his collar. "I ...may have forgotten to put on a shirt in my hurry."

"But you remembered to douse yourself in cologne?" You tease him a bit for fun, even though being this close it is rather annoying and a bit stinging to your sensitive nose. "So yeah, we match then."

>"No shir-...B-but-" He tries to speak, his face slowly reddening. Apparently he thought you wouldn’t notice.

"Well, I guess almost. I do have a shirt on sugah… Technically underwear though." You correct yourself pointing at your comfy top with a smirk. It's like watching a kettle reach boiling point, except actually funny.

>"W-well, what prevented you from… dressing up properly?" He asks, pivoting in place and starting to stretch muscle groups in such an abrupt tense fashion, you are surprised he didn’t immediately get a hernia. You don’t mind the clear attempt to shift the conversation off your outfits however.

"Had to go to the doc for a check-up, then uh… got sumthin' in the mail that distracted me something fierce." You tell him, stretching a bit absentmindedly in preparation for your jog.

>"You got your invitation to the I-Expo today too?" He asks, then continues, noticing your surprise. "Well, the first year champion of U.A.'s Sports Festival is always invited, as well as several important heroes and people of interest. Team Idaten got ours today too, so I assumed that's what you were referring to."

“Ya, it is! Still has mah head spinning, Ah'm not sure if Ah even wanna go to the expo yet.” You comment with a shrug. Spending some time on the Island? Sure. With Pa? Definitely! Formal parties and business meetings? Not too enticing.

>“NO!-I mean, I think you should reconsider, I could even give you some insight on what to expect from the convention and the island as we go today.” He reacts with the same kind of energy you'd expect if you had just confessed to planning jumping off a bridge.
>>
"Oh, sure sugah! So, you are goin' too?" You ask as you start jogging off in the direction he just emphatically pointed at. It takes a moment but he finally comprehends that you’re starting the activity that you two had planned and falls in alongside to guide you on the route he set with a big grin plastered on his face.

>"Indeed! My brother was telling me that with his… current condition, and my father taking care of the family business, I should go and represent our office this year." He answers, quickly matching your pace, looking down at you, blushing again and then easing up to be a few inches behind you. "While I'm not exactly excited about the business meetings, it's important to reassure our business partners that the office remains in good hands and to present myself as the future leader of Team Idaten."

The next handful of minutes go like that, with you listening to Iida as he goes into an egregious amount of details of I-Island, their expo, and Team Idaten’s prior visits to it while you prance around U.A. and the surrounding area, passing in front of the hardware store at least three times. You don’t even mind that he starts the whole spiel by reciting the island’s text box description and details straight from your history book, it's nice to get a full rundown on things you hadn’t even given a second thought to prior to this morning. It allows you to get in a zone as if listening to music or a podcast.

The only part that takes you out of it is when you interject a question or thought to something your jogging partner just mentioned. Usually that wouldn’t be enough but you become conscious of how each time you slow down considerably or even turn around and jog backwards momentarily to speak back to him. Each time you had to cover a moment of wincing from the change in your cadence as well. Oddly enough, he seemed to almost stumble at times when you did so.

The only other interruption that occured was when Iida had just about finished clarifying the airport’s automatic security checkpoint system while addressing your concern of boarding passes (there weren’t any in the envelope) when you suddenly realize that you two have not only stopped, but have returned to the front of the gate of your school. The transition was so casual and the jog so effortless that you hadn’t even noticed the difference between moving and standing idly…

“That’s good to hear that it’s so easy, sugah. Ah can't stand wastin' an hour doin' nothin' just for the <TSA> to decide if they wanna get handsy or do nothin' at all! Speaking of, Ah’m wondering why we’re not continuing on? You nursing an injury too?” You ask as politely as possible. You hope you hadn’t forced him into working out and placing weight on something that could do him long-term harm, even with the summer break just around the corner to help heal.

>“Not at all! In fact I wanted to provide you an opportunity for a break or to complete our jog here if you so required it! Particularly with your own injury! If the case requires, I can complete a lap or two more and return here when you are ready!” He confidently says, waving at his phone and the area around you, as if he expected it from the start.

Oh… Guess your concern for him was unfounded...Wait, that was one of the routes he sent you beforehand? It was easier than most of the exercise courses during school...Did he plan on “lapping” you as well?

“...Tell you what, sugah? How about ya’ll load up the next few routes and I'll let you know when we stop. How’s that sound?” You do your best to keep the edge out of your voice. You were brought up to never back down from a challenge, even if it was only mildly implied... and you don’t take short-cuts when it comes to your fitness.

This is a failure so spectacular I honestly can't imagine how it could be translated into narrative. Do Iida's legs just spontaneously explode? That's possible, given his Quirk.
>>
>“Okay sure, as long as you feel up to it” Iida continues, completely unaware of the change in your demeanor.

"Just keep raisin' the difficulty 'kay? Let's see just how hard we can go on a, um... leisurely stroll." You roll your shoulders and huff, ready to carry on all day if needed to highlight just how much you didn’t need breaks, despite your love for the sleeping kind.

And so you go, starting with simple laps around the massive main school grounds, crossing over to tight back alleys that required you to skip over piles of discarded newspapers to the hillside stone steps of a nearby park, the several stories of height you just climbed giving you little trouble besides some minor sweating and the slight pain that comes with the unavoidable bouncing of your chest.

Despite the pain, you know your support is up to the task, and you manage to keep a steady pace for over an hour while barely getting winded. Your classmate and guide however, proves far less consistent, sometimes racing in front of you to clarify a turn, sometimes behind you, but rarely staying by your side for more than a couple seconds, quickly looking at you and either speeding up or down. It can't be due to exhaustion, as he continues to tell you about the island and his family's dealing with both support companies and expo sponsors without sounding winded.

Thus, you decide to ask what's going on once you reach the rest area at the top of stairs, turning around with a flourish once you hop up the last step into the clearing.

"Ya know, prancin' 'round like a square-wheel'd cart ain't all that impressive!" You say with a smug chuckle as you continue jogging in place.

Perhaps stopping in the middle of the way wasn't the best idea, but there was no chance it was your fault how he tripped on the last step! He was the one who froze mid step when he looked up at you!

No matter who's to blame, the fact's that he stumbled, tripped and fell, forwards.

"Sigh" You let out in the fraction of a second you have to react. You could have dodged and hoped he didn't fall too badly against the stone steps or rolled downhill… Instead you brace yourself for another one of those kind of accidents that seems to only happen to you. Perhaps you’ll remember to ask Momma this time if she has ever dealt with them, and how...

Had he been Deku or another of the shorter boys,Iidawould have had an easy landing in your arms, maybe glancing off your midriff… instead of landing face first in your cleavage at full force, the frame of his glasses focusing the hit on your bruise of all places.

"AAAAAAAHHH!!!" You scream in pain, grabbing him by the shoulders and pushing him away as he freezes up before mumbling apologies while hiding his face with his hands at the same time.
>>
>"It-was-a-complete-and-total-accident-I-swear-I-didn't-mean-to-assault-you-in-any-way…" He says faster than you can process his words. Not that you try all too hard, you have more important things currently taking your focus. And even beyond the renewed slowly fading pain in your chest, the chatter of the other people taking their lunch in the hillside rest area also put you on alert.

>”Did he just attack her?”

>"What a pervert…"

>"Should I call the police?"

>"Lucky guy."

>"Maybe I should try holding him for the cops?"

>"Maybe I can get her number if I save her!"

And so on.

Knowing it was very, very easy for one if not both of you to absolutely botch your explanation, you opt to trust in something that has proven more reliable than words: Your legs.

"Ah know sugah, Ah know you're the kind that needs to confess unconditional love 'fore tryin' to hold hands, but Ah don't think we can convince them before we get in trouble, so let's get movin before the bystander effect wears off…" You tell him as you swiftly grab him and toss him over your shoulder like a 2x4, the boy no less stiff than an actual plank, and run up to the next flight of stairs, continuing towards the top of the hill. "Right now!"

>"Maybe she's into that." You hear one of the bystanders comment as you leave them behind.

"Oh, shove it…" You grumble as you power through numerous sets of stairs to the seemingly empty top of the hill.

Seeing the sprawling city down below as the sun starts it's trip down the sky, you quickly realize two things.

The glimmering beauty of the city you've been living in for months now, where you have both faced deathly perils and true friendship…
And that you've missed lunch.

The spot seems to also bring IIda out of his rigor mortis when he speaks up from behind your shoulder. “O-okay. I think you can put me down now…”

"So! How's that for a jog, eh?" You try to joke as you let him down, the boy immediately bowing deep enough for you to wonder if his joints might be as flexible as your own.

>"I… I insist, please, let me apologize properly and find some way to make it up to y-you!" He says, stumbling on his words in a manner unlike himself.

"Meh, Ah forgive you." You shrug, patting his head a bit until he looks up. "It's one thing to be assaulted with intent, these kinda accidents are a horse of a different color. Not any less tiresome mind you… Now chin up, sugah, we still gotta get down this hill and you still got more I-Island stuff to tell me 'bout!"

>"...Do you really want to forgive me so easily?" Without his glasses, he almost looks like a different person, less rigid and more sincere, if not less eager, something even more notable after he sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose. "Thank you, Walker."

"Ushi's fine." You tell him, then clarify the question you always get. "Don'tcha worry, Ah can tell when people use it as mah name and when y'all talkin' 'bout the livestock."

>"Well then, thank you… Ushi." He says, a calm, genuine smile softening his features further. Not that you’d openly comment on it in this occasion but it is not half-bad to look at… He still proceeds to point to you and himself with his arms, however. "It's hard to believe you would not push me away after such things, but I appreciate it. I don't plan on wasting this chance."

"Good, cuz Ah've got no idea where Ah'm goin' with any of this possible relationship stuff! Yer nice, so Ah'm not writin' anythin' off… But again, Ah still dunno what am Ah doin'..." You admit, looking at the stairway down the opposite side of the hill. "But Ah don't wanna think 'bout that, so let's get outta here. Proper joggin' this time."

>"Uhm. I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to guide me down the steps." He asks, tapping your shoulder then pointing at his face. "I seem to have lost my glasses at some point."

"Oh,... here you go." You tell him, momentarily utterly defeated by the fact that his glasses ended up in your cleavage… again. What even are the freakin’ chances?!

When he puts the foggy glasses back on, you briefly wonder if it was your body heat or his blushing that did it, but he quickly wipes them clean with his bare wrist.

Now jogging down the stone steps, he stays besides you as he answers your questions about the island and convention. His gaze is locked onto your eyes almost to a fault, but it's nice to just go with him instead of against him in some weird slow race.

It's amazing how differently it all sounds from his perspective. What he tells you about the support companies and sponsors is nothing new to you, but hearing it from someone that has some experience with the actual deals and the way the right gear has saved not just missions but lives shows you that it's not just boring business that heroes must attend to to keep the business running, but an important, often personal partnership.

>"...So, I'm not only going as a stand in, but also to present myself to our business partners." He tells you why he's so eager to go.

"Woah. You got it all figured out already! " You huff, frankly impressed. "Ah wasn’t so sure about it on the surface of things. Ah got the impression it was gonna be more ...Stuffy, ya know?"

>"I suppose it does. But it is hands on experience for us future heroes nonetheless!" He explains to you in between hard breaths, his karate-chop action jazz hands once again going strong. He takes a moment and a deeper breath before continuing. "Our primary duty is to protect society from villains, but to do so we must deal with support gear companies and other parts of the business side of heroics. I will do my best to maintain a good relationship with the companies that keep us and our sidekicks safe in the field."

"...You've been thinking a lot 'bout this, haven't you?" You ask as you stretch your arms above your head, feeling like he's taking the chance to convince himself.

Maybe give one to Pony? I'd say put our spares in the communal pool the rest of The Gals are going to play Janken for, but that would bring the total up to four and change it from "which two of these five get to go" to "which one is excluded". Too much chance of hurting someone's feelings that way (and you just know it would wind up being Uraraka). But Pony should be a safe bet. Let her get her mecha weeb on looking at the cool robots, she'd like that.

Yes. I'll have a new title soon enough, but that will come later. I don't think there's a big resemblance between Hush's style or and Shinkawa's work. The seem like totally different beasts in my opinion. The quests I referenced were all quests that already existed in one form or another. The blood sacrifice goat tomboy was a reference to beastfolk quest which is running right now. It's a fun quest that really nails that kinda fucked up chaos vibe. Since I've so clearly perked your interest so much might about that crucible of abs worship I might as well spoonfeed it to you. But before you dive in let me ask you a question. It's a lot to read through but I hope you enjoy it. SQR was unique in a lot of ways, not all of them good, but what was good made it something to behold. The amount of potential this quest had was immense. It seemed like for whatever reason the stars just aligned. Several of Diavolo's traits matching up with traits All for One had made it feel less like Deku was altered by King Crimson and more like he was just subtly exhibiting traits from his dad. The thematic irony of KC having to serve as a pseudo-father figure to a child with an absentee crime boss father made for an interesting dynamic even if it wasn't explored to it's fullest. The way the setting naturally blended together the elements of it's two source materials while adding new ideas to create something that felt natural rather than two different franchises stapled together. The show don't tell way the history and events of the setting were delivered where the reader was expected to put together hints and clues to get an idea of what's going on.

The fact that I am still hung up on the mystery of what happened at the Kira manor and what agents of the liberation army were doing in Naruhata after all this time shows just how well Stando mastered the art of drip feeding information. The mountains of conspiracy theories and loreposting illustrate just how excited people were to dig into the secrets of that world. The quest died before it's prime, I'm still holding out hope that one day we will return to the capeshit/world of horror/darkest dungeon story that the quest seemed to be aiming towards.

I honestly felt that SQR was trapped in a position where Deku going to UA would hold back the potential to explore the world but at the same time not going would close the door on interacting with a huge chunk of the cast that had the potential for the fantastic character dynamics this quest utilizes. It was indecision on that choice that likely resulted in the quest never devoting itself to either meaning that it missed out on the strengths of both, and it died before it could take advantage of the direction that was chosen.

It is for that very reason that with I'm working towards making a series of quests in the same setting focused around the collapse. The amount of lore I've written has already passed the Bionicle threshold and I can't stop. There is more lore on the Los Angeles technarcy then there is lore in the entirety of MHA and Vigs combined, and that's only a small nation that only existed from the 2039 to 2078. God forbid you open the small novel that is the list of Okinawan Confederacy war crimes. I think the tower of screams is my best work in that regard, it really captures that specific, horrifying brand of medieval cruelty. While my main plan for now is to work towards a war epic, but, I'm drafting something smaller that I can run sooner. Once it's ironed out all it will need is 1 or 2 art pieces for specific moments and I think I'll have some kino on my hands.

I often find myself asking, "Wait, what does this have to do with My Hero Academia or SQR?". I'll let you know when I've sent a quick rundown of the events that occurred between the 2019-2041 which from the context around the Sino-Pacific war.

You aren’t entirely sure what this ‘reception’ will be about, but you have to agree, it seems like a bad time to commit to something for anything like that.

As for the issue at hand… or in face just previously… you hate asking for stuff just because he took a nose dive into your cleavage, along with busting your jacket by forcing the zipper. Sort of feels like seeking payment for turning tricks … On the other hand, it's not like you haven’t already forgiven him for it, and you are feeling a tad famished.

"You know, amends are better made over a hot dish. Or even a cold one~…" You pose, looking up at him with hopeful eyes and a sheepish smile, waiting for him to pick up what you are putting down. You eventually give up after watching him tap his chin and nod for about a minute, as if he were contemplating your imparted wisdom. "Ah'm hungry."

>"Oh. It did end up being quite a work out, didn't it?" Your tall and still shirtless friend admits, pushing his glasses back into their proper place before using his hand as a visor to look around. You are momentarily reminded of an old television show that featured lifeguards. "If the number of people we saw at the top of the hill was any indication, this is a rather popular park for taking lunch breaks. There should be a food stand or two nearby, catering to the salarymen as it were."

"Selling curry?" You ask, searching in your own way.

>"Most likely. It is a fairly popular and inexpensive dish." He affirms, stopping his search to turn back to you. "Why, do you like curry?"

"Of course, ain't many things like a good roux to give plain rice some spice. Homemade would be better, but Ah reckon it's better than the chicken…" You enthusiastically answer, closing your eyes to better focus on your keen olfactory sense. "Can't quite place it though, too much in- Oh..."

You take off the jacket Iida gave you and tie it around your waist, keeping his smell from interfering too much with your search. You notice Iida makes to turn away but tenses and locks his knees instead, so you chalk that up as a modicum of progress. With that distraction diminished, it takes you only a few seconds more to pick up the trail.

"Got it." You announce with a deservedly cocky smile, putting one hand on your hip and pointing in the smell's direction. "Found yer cart, sugah! <Attaway!>"

>"That's impressive!" He earnestly proclaims as he starts making his way in the direction of the smell, with you quickly falling into lockstep with him. "You really have a knack for making the best of your abnormal traits."

"It's curry, sugah. It makes itself known to everyone in the same neck of the woods, whether they are hungry and have a good nose or not." You remark teasingly while rolling your eyes.

Just as you imagined, the distinct smell of street curry becomes more and more pervasive as you two close in on the source; a plate of some sort of cheap stewed meat, veggies and rice covered in a sauce made out of curry powder, oil, flour, and more oil. The smell of grilled chicken is still present, but it's almost an afterthought in the far stronger aroma of the spicy roux.

"...So good!" You let out in anticipation as you approach a small, one man operated food stand near the park entrance. It has no seats, instead providing three at present unused bar stools in front of the counter while the owner, currently handing a styrofoam container to a hurried man in an unkempt suit, stands behind it.

>"That may be so, but I think we can do better." Iida comments, pointing in his usual way outside of the park to a more traditional eatery on the other side of the street.

"But we're almost there?" You ask, wondering what could be wrong with the perfectly good chow in sight.

>"I think after all ...this, I owe you a proper meal, W- Ushi." He remarks, waving his arms around as if trying to point at everything at once. It kind of looks like a clock being adjusted as his arms rapidly spin in circles. "If you would allow me to treat you, that is."

"Uh… Sure, Ah appreciate the gesture...?" You reply, glancing back at the nearby food stand. Lunch breaks should be over soon, so they may not have much food left, and it might be a good idea to go elsewhere. Still, the new plan has a problem. "Although it might be just a mite hard to get in…"

>"It doesn't seem to be full, do you think they only take reservations?" He asks as he takes the lead exiting the park and crossing the street, looking into the restaurant through a window. "I should have booked something, it was obvious you would be hungry after a workout given your efforts at UA"

“No, Iida, what Ah mean’ta say is -'' You try to protest but he zealously waves you down.

>“Think nothing of it, Ushi! I see how you exert yourself and a diet to fit is really the least I can do to try and help your fitness!” He interjects. You hear someone on the nearest street corner gasp.

He was right though, from the doorway you follow him through it is obvious it wasn't particularly full, but as you had expected the host steps in the way.

>"H-Hello there." The rather short man nervously greets Iida. "We would be glad to serve you, but I must ask you to respect our rules before I allow you in."

>"I assure you, we will respect any and all rules of your establishment, Sir." Iida quickly and sincerely replies in that loud manner he usually reserves for Aizawa’s questions.

"'yuup, we just want some grub." You try to back him up, despite the obvious issue. You'd be hard pressed to find someone that's more of a stickler for the rules than Iida. Any second now...

>"I'm afraid you haven't read the sign, then." The host points out, motioning to a thin, etched aluminum sign on the wall. "B-but please, feel free to return when you comply!"

"Ah won't say Ah told ya, sugah, but…" You comment as you approach the sign and point at a specific line, paying little attention to how the host takes a step back to keep his distance from you. "Says right there, 'Clients must be decent and presentable'. Ah can give ya back yer jacket if ya want?"

>"...No, please keep it." Iida insists as his face flushes anew and holds his hands up. It must have finally clicked but much to your surprise he’s still stubborn enough to reject the jacket. You move to untie the article from your waist anyways, but surprisingly the host interrupts you too.

>"While that would allow the young man to enter, I still wouldn't be able to welcome you." The host points out, sweat running down the side of his face as he continues to avoid eye contact with you.

"Why? He'd have a shirt, that should be good enough, right?" You ask, confused.

>"Uhm… You wouldn't be decent." The short, sweaty man says, clearly scared of your reaction. Still confused, you take a moment to see exactly what counts as ‘decent’ over the short man’s head and it hits you as much as the air conditioning did when you entered.

While the restaurant was not particularly packed, its inhabitants were rather… Homogenous. Not a single tuft of fur, nor a single unusual skin tone nor extraordinary or extra limb in sight. Just sharply dressed, black haired japanese patrons and “normal” physical features as far as you care to look.

"...Ah don't wanna eat here anymore." You say, turning on your heels and stepping out, blowing some steam out of your nose at the sigh of relief from the host. "Never wanted to either, Ah reckon."

>"I'm sorry. I just-..." Iida apologizes once again as he follows you back out, still as shirtless as he was when you tried to enter, but looking down and adjusting his glasses. At least it looks like he's adjusting them, but with how long he does it for, it looks more like he’s pinching the bridge of his nose and trying to hide it. Not that it works much, his frustration is nearly palpable in the rest of his exposed upper body. "Maybe we could go back? Perhaps if we let them know our standing in U.A., they'll let us sit… It'd be informing and reassuring to them that we are upstanding students and part of the local community, of course."

Instead of just trying to explain that you wouldn’t fit in or anything else any further, you grab his arm and drag him a bit to the side and direct his attention at your reflections in a darker window.
>>
"Notice anythin'? Ah dunno 'bout here, but back where Ah'm from, people reserve the right to deny service not only to the shirtless, but those that look like they came outta a scrap. We had no chance, sugah." You point out. You weren’t entirely certain what reaction you were hoping from Iida, but deflated was not among them. Seeing the effect of this revelation on his demeanor, you try to lighten the mood by lowering your stance and striking a pose in front of the window, bobbing in place. “The good kind though! Street Fighter style Ah mean."

>"Is any kind of streetside violence truly good?" The much taller boy posits half-heartedly as he turns to cross the street once more. "Some measure of self defence is allowed, but in our superhuman society untrained quirk use can easily escalate things beyond control."

"The games, sugah. the games." You stop his musing a second time by waving your hand in front of his face as you walk alongside. "You don't play vidya much, do ya?"

>"Well… No. Not really." He admits after a moment of hesitation. "Nothing against the medium of video games, I just haven’t tried many."

"That's okay, Ah can show ya some sometime. Maybe at camp or sumthin', we'll have time then." You offer, pointing out that there will be a good opportunity soon.

>"A good prospect for another day." He says before mumbling something further to himself and heading to the park entrance with a sigh. "For now, let us purchase whatever lunch we can get..."

"Don't be so glum, sugah. Street eatin's good eatin'." You tell him with a pat on the back. "Now come on, that place left a bad taste in mah mouth and Ah wanna drown it in grease."

Unlike the ordeal at the restaurant, it barely took any time or effort to buy something from the food stand, the owner even offering to cook you some fresh curry after admitting he had run out. Trying not to be a bother, you take the yakitori instead, with Iida taking two sticks and you the remaining eight, holding them like claws between your knuckles. Despite your goal finally being achieved and your frequent encouragement, your friend looks just as dispirited.

"Hey, chin up bub, we got everything we came for, that's a win in my book." You try to cheer him up, leaning against the park's wall and taking a bite out of your yakitori, making short work of the grilled chicken and bamboo stick alike.

>"Even trying to atone for my previous misdeeds, I just kept adding to the list." Iida muses, carefully biting into a piece of chicken and sliding it off of the stick before eating it. "I don't expect you to, but I must ask you to forgive me for single-handedly ruining your afternoon."

"Nah." You simply rebuke his request, moving on to your second stick.

>"I assumed so, no one should be expected to tolerate that many blunders without feeling some animosity. I'll take my leave and you to enjoy your meal th-" He says, managing to take one step before you grab his shoulder with the valley of your wrist and stop him. Damn, those are some delts for someone known for their legs.

"Can't forgive ya for something ya didn't do, ya know?" You tell him, letting go of him. "Ah toured some new places, got a good workout and had a good meal outta all this. Not to mention pickin' your brain 'bout a future trip ah was clueless about. Sure, there were some hiccups, but on the whole, that's still a <damn> good afternoon. An afternoon that was, in-part, your doing."

>"...You liked all of that?" He asks, taken aback by your good mood.

"Well, no. But I’d be hard-pressed to blame most of that on anyone let alone you. Could have skipped the restaurant, sure, but like Ah said, pretty good overall. Ain't no need for a fancy outin', just somethin' to do in good company and seein' where we end up." You explain, moving on to your third stick as he continues to look befuddled. "We ain't havin' all that much free time anymore, so Ah think it's better to try and enjoy it however it goes. Go with the flow, do what ya want… And Ah feel like Ah gotta round it out with a third but if Ah keep talkin' these things are gonna get cold."

>"You make handling disarray sound easy. Well, you do that to a lot of things." He admits, briefly covering his mouth just like Momo to hide his chuckle before looking out into the park. "Going with the flow… Sounds relaxing, until I stop to think about what might slip through by overlooking the rules. Who else might get hurt if I don’t uphold them. It makes me… uncomfortable.” Iida lets out with a sigh. You opt to just keep listening, more than inclined to do so with a mouth full of food.

>“I don't have the best track record with spur of the moment decisions, today being no exception. Maybe, if I was I could ha-” he stops himself, bowing his head. You think you see him purse his lips but it's difficult to lean over to check without putting your kebabs in danger. “Plans, frameworks, rules and timetables make for good guidelines. They help. That's why I try to follow them to the best of my ability."

"You know Iida, at the restaurant, you could have taken back your jacket and entered. Maybe bring back takeout." You point out, before licking the fourth stick clean, then chewing it too. "Wouldn't that have been followin' the rules to your best ability?

>"It would have been, yes." He concedes, dragging a thumb down a scar on his forearm. "But it wouldn't have been right."

"'yuup! Ah can forgive yer slip today no problem, but that would have irked me." You casually point out before moving on to your next stick. " Fer me, an important part of being' a hero's knowin' when to follow the rules and when to just do the right thing. Ah believe the same thing goes for everyone else too, just with smaller stakes is all. So things didn’t go as planned fer ya, that’s okay since everything is still all-right, alright?"

>"I've been coming to terms with that for weeks now." Iida admits, bringing down his scarred arm. "I just wish there was an easier way to know what the right choice is than just doing your best and hoping you didn't just make a costly mistake."

"Well, like mah Pa' told me before Ah came down to Japan. 'High School's the time to try new things while you are still kids, when you can still fail without things getting serious'." You share his wisdom, then tap your chin with a greasy finger.

>”Your father sounds like an upstanding man.” Iida comments, no longer sounding as gloomy.

"Actually, he said <can still fuck up> and Ah gotta admit UA has been more than a bit different than most schools but the details distract a bit from the message." You grin at your friend.

>“Thank you, Ushi. Really...’” And just like that, it seems you finally renewed Iida’s mood as he lowers his hand again from politely covering another chortle before returning to his own chicken. No longer deflated, just...relaxed and enjoying the setting, as far as you can tell.

An afternoon out is one thing, but helping a friend feeling down? There is nothing better. You take a second to treasure the moment, one of quite a few that you’ve had recently. You could definitely get used to this.

“Ya know, if it's any help to ya, I could offer some feedback on the day if ya re-” You break the pleasant silence upon finishing your own meal.

>“YES, OF COURSE!” Iida barks before relaxing again.“I mean, yes, I would like that.”

You’re almost surprised he didn’t bring out a pen and notebook.

“Well sure, sugah, as long as you help me with something for I-Island.” And at the brain-rattling nodding of his head, you continue. “Now, before you think forgivin' means forgettin'... Don’t presume to assert control over a girl’s attire without her permission! Especially ones you’ve taken a liking to-"

>”O-oh, right…” Iida’s color drains from his face this time.

“Lemme finish, and thank ya for literally taking the shirt off your back for me. Don’t let anyone ever tell you that you ain’t a gentleman.” You are rewarded with Iida’s posture returning to being ram-rod straight. As it should be, you ponder. “Ah mean, Ah know it’s no issue for ya being a guy and all and it’s not like the view isn’t bad either...”

>“Pardon?” Iida asks, he seems just as confused by what came out your mouth as you are.

“W-what ah mean to ask is because of being invited to I-Expo by both a sponsor and through mah Pa, Ah’ve got more tickets than Ah need. You said before it's common to use extras for others but since Ah got mah plus one and an additional spare ticket, who do you think Ah should invite? Ah have a nagging suspicion that both mah first choices are already invited too."

>"Well, the island is a floating marvel of technology, the upcoming I-Expo is intended to show and celebrate the latest advancements in quirk research and related applied technologies and the reception's role is to be a way to establish and maintain contacts." He explains, slowly waving his hands in a way you've come to understand as 'laying down the groundwork for the point'.

That definitely seems like something some people you know would love...Iida takes a moment to think before continuing.

>"But the event itself is framed as a festival, meant to be entertaining for all. While someone interested in technology would make the most out of it, just about anyone interested in hero work would enjoy it as well." This time, his hands conveying the ‘other side of things’, if you had to guess but he continues before you can be sure.

>"The island's course passing near Japan this year means flying in to enjoy the Expo as a regular tourist will be the cheapest way to take a trip to experience 'America' ever, so I'm sure most of our classmates can make their way to the island if they really would like. If I were you, I'd consider inviting either someone that would really admire the monument to science that is I-Island, would enjoy a trip to a floating bit of America, or just really deserves a break." He finishes his explanation.

"Ah see…" You mutter, considering your choices with a bit more clarity. "Ah think Ah've got some fellas in mind. Ah 'sppose that of all those that Ah know, the ones that would make the most of it in that way would be-"

Including Pony seems like a great idea to continue keeping her at best Amercian friend status.

Also would be funny to see all three Americans of Pony, Ushi, and Melissa together.

As for the other ticket, I'd have to think Mei might go Yandere on Ushi's ass (or remotely reprogram Tin to do it for her), if we leave her out of things. It might be a good survival choice to assuage her.

So ya my choices will be:

Pony and Mei.

And

Come on, it’s technology island! We’ve got to pay her back for all the hard work she’s out into both our hero costume, gear, and Tin. She’s our baby momma!

If my choice ( >>4663931 ) doesn't get enough traction to win then i'll swap my vote over to this one.

Seems pretty obvious. Give the American a taste of home and give our tech buddy a nice networking opportunity.

Anyways, what do people think Papa Walker is going to be presenting at I-Island? Last we heard of his work, he was doing repairs on DOMMA OMEGA, the secret giant robot hidden under the Capitol Building. Is Pa going to present giant American super-robots at I-Island?
>>
>>4663978
I was under the impression that Ushi had never put those two dots (Pa's work and the robot's position) together.

As it is, I am also curious the content of his work's entry to the expo (if it be just formal presentation on efficiencies or technical model results or something more practical).
>>
>>4663975
If we were going to metagame, what we should be doing is accounting for the fact that Bakugo shouldn't be at I-Island since we have the ticket he'd be using in canon. A replacement for his firepower would be good. Tokoyami with an amped-up Dark Shadow, maybe? Not a vote for him, just theorizing.

>>4663989
Well, Mama said he'd be presenting schematics, so probably not a practical demonstration of anything. But who knows, maybe there will be a test model to show off. Some cool robot that Mei can drool over and Tin can worry about being replaced by.
>>
>>4663995
Please vote for Tokoyami. Bird bro and pony are good culture together.
And it's more time to spend with best boy, Dark Shadow.

Pony and Mei easily. Give Pony a taste of home and give Mei a chance to learn something, meet some industry professionals, and maybe get some robot building lessons from Pa.

>>4663995
I'm not too worried about firepower since we can have our own giant robot bodyguard. I can't say I've seen what happens on I-Island, but I think we've got it handled.

Ushi is the replacement for Bakugo’s firepower.
