McSnickers Dickerson has created something that only those from future stations would know about, a Tesla Ball. He has been assigned to recreate the ball of primordial electricity with the express purpose of trying to harvest it. Being on a high security station, nothing station shattering can happen, right?

There was a purpose in my step, as I walked off the trolley and towards the nearby branch of the Mechanicus. People were going to and from, completely unaware of the hell that I am starting to see on a monthly basis.

I mean come on, first the Traitors, then Changelings and just a few weeks ago a Blob.

Though if I gotta be honest I am starting to get a little bit too used to this.

Soon I walked up to the door and the watchful eye outside looked me over. Soon it brought itself back in, the steel clad doors slowly opening just wide enough for someone of my size to walk into it.

{Welcome, Acolyte McSnickers.} A speaker announced into the room as the system sprayed some sort of decontaminant, {Reason for visit?}

{To see the Magos}

{Understood, come in.}

With that the doors opened, the secondary doors opened and welcomed me inside. There was really no change from the last few times I have been here, as the Mechanicus compound . Red iron walls surrounded me, with Spartan furnishing about the place.

There was kinda a beauty all its own, as I looked over it all. Each thing had some kind of operation, it was just that I did not know them yet.

Soon enough I walked into the Magos’s room, {Magos Farstein, I have come as requested.}

{McSnickers, I have heard that you have once again barely avoided death. Correct?}

{You would be, and you have recieved my report of what occured on the station and my future assignment?}

{Indeed I have, this… Tesla Ball is a blessing from the Omnissiah.} He admitted while looming over me, {I have already forward the information to my fellow Magos. It has come to my attention that you are being dispatched to a highly secured facility correct?}

{You are, Magos.} I admitted while bowing to the man-machine.

{Then can you do a task for us? I need you to collect the research information from that station’s servers.}

{My apologies Magos, but would not defeat the purpose of those Machine Spirits upon the station?} I asked my superior, {I would be angering the spirits and thus be harmed in the process.}

{Hmm, you do not truly realize what the Spirits are towards us, do you?} The Machine Lord moved with his dozens of mamables and machanrites, {While you are right in that Machine Spirits would not like our retrieval of information, they would easily understand the purpose once you inform them of your reasoning.}

The mass of Machines hummed and moved, {However that is not your true reason, you ask why you should risk stealing from Nanotrasen.}

{I… guess you have a point there Magos.} I admitted while scratching the back of my head.

{You see, even while both the Mechanicus and Nanotrasen work together there are times that Nanotrasen will withhold information from us. These can be a variety of things, such as their secrets to a perfect toaster to the latest in laser gun technology.} His mechanrite pointed towards me with a sense of authority, {You are simply here to make them follow their obligation.}

{I will be a more acting arm then?}

{Yes, and based on your track record the station will be lost in the process.} Magos Farstein laughed while tapping the table, {And if that is not enough for you, do not forget that we are to reward you for service.}

{A… promotion?}

{Yes, along with the technology that is awarded to men of that rank.} The Cyborg seemed to laugh as his mechanical eyes focused upon me, {Of course just getting us the information pertaining to this… Tesla Ball is enough to give you a more permanent seat in some circles. So, are you willing to serve the Omnissiah in this respect?}

>Yes
>No

Can we be mildly offended at the way he tied us to the station loss?

{Hey, it is not my fault that everystation I am on is destroyed.} I retaliated with a hmph.

{McSnickers, it is obvious based on the information that out of three stations, all three have ended up disabled or destroyed.} He hummed with a mechanical authority, {Mortals say that once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, thrice is a pattern made by the motor force. You are cursed to destroy any station you are on, McSnickers.}

{Well… well…} My face would have gone slightly red from the embarrassment if I was not a machine myself, {I bet you this coming station will not be needing an emergency evacuation.}

{Processing odds.} The man machine announced with a small dial-up sounding the place, {I will match any amount you propose, McSnicker. How much will that be?}

{200 Creds,} I announced without even thinking, {Take it or leave it.}

{Deal.} He replied while giving a menacing laugh, {Now be on your leave, McSnicker, you have a station to retrieve information from.}

{Understood, Magos.}

And with that I left the compound, soon walking once again into the greater city.

Once again I got myself onto the trolley, traveling through the air without much delay. Soon enough I was back in the massive complex that was Nanotrase, and with that I traveled my way into my room.

As many times I have come here before, the Plant known as Weed was watching the television, “So how is Sally doing?”

“She got pregnant, lost the child, then got knocked up by the previous mate’s brother.” Weed said while nursing a small teet of nutrient water, “And Mama is pissed off.”

“Damn, I would not want to be in that situation.”

“You won’t, since you lost that seed maker.” The plant turned around to face me, “So whats the results from your ‘organization’.”

“They just want me to share my research with them.” I lied while looking Weed over, “You’ve grown quite alot, think you can give me a bud yet?”

“Probably, all you need to do is chop off one of my limbs and that will be that.” He answered before pointing his appendage at me, “Want me to tag along to your super secret base?”

>Sure, why not

“Look man, this station I am hopping on is going to be high security. It's better that you’re not there so Security does not get suspicious.” I told the plant outright.

“Fine fine, guess I’ll be finding out if Suzie has this child.” He joked while wiggling a limb, “Though I take it you want some for the road?”

“Yup, to appease the machine spirits at least.” I said while taking a pair of scissors and getting some material.

With that the day moved forward, which was mainly me working on getting the last few things together for the trip. I was moving just that little bit faster, as I was of course still training to see how well I could control my body.

These days I think I could reasonably fight someone and outright win. Though Lord knows I should probably soon learn how to be wielding a gun. Yeah the little mess with the Blobbernaught showed how ignorant I was in the means of fighting.

None of that mattered now though, as by the start of the week I was already on my way towards the security station.

Unlike other shuttles, where people were joking about and having a little fun, these men were quite somber. Maybe it was because of the doubled amount of security personnel, or maybe it was because we were sanctioned to one hell of a search earlier. Hell, I only got my weed through because I told the men it was for my religion.

However that did not stop me from noticing the groups of people who were around. At one side were the Roboticists, researchers who I surely would have been with if it was any other circumstance.

No, for this trip I was placed with a few men from engineering. Most were human, but I noticed that all those who were inhuman were belonging to atmospherics. Hell, even one of them was a cyborg like myself!

That left security. And while they were all wearing gas masks to hide their faces were bored as all hell. They might actually be willing to chat if I approached them.

>Chat with the Engineers, your cohorts
>The Robotcists
>Meet your fellow Preternis!
>It pays to have security on your side.

Most of my options were good, don’t get me wrong. There was a pretty good chance I would be getting some kind of comradery with the Roboticist, or I could better my relationship with the engineers of the station. However, in the end I have always interested with the Security on the station because things went to shit.

It pains me that it's a perfectly logical thought, fuck Farstein.

So I got up and made my way over to the fellows who were sitting down, looking around as if they were some sort of prison guard. With a smile I waved, “Howdy, how are you all doing?”

The men all looked at one another, pretty much the feeling of awkwardness going about. Such a feeling was not something I wanted, so I changed my approach a little while reaching into my pocket.

“Want some smokes?” I asked them while presenting a small case of Cigars, “They are pretty good in my opinion, top of the line.”

They looked at one another for another moment, before one of them moved forward and took a cigar, “Its not like we are not allowed to interact with crew guys. We arn’t on some prison ship.”

“Yeah, I guess you’re right.” another said while walking over, “You remember the HoS’s report though, he just wanted us on high alert.”

“High Alert? Something about to happen?”

“Yup, or at least that's what the HoS said. Apparently we are shipping some nasty mojo over here to be studied, and they would not be surprised if something were to happen on the station.”

“Nasty mojo eh?” I grew a shaky smile while giving a laugh, “I havn’t seen a vodo doll yet,”

The men around me gave a small chuckle, “I guess we have not presented ourselves. Names Orion.”

“Jackson.”

“Gunner.”

“McSnickers.” I laughed while giving them all a smile, “I hope we all work well together.

“Gunner eh?” I said with a laugh, “You like guns or something?”

“You can’t say I like guns more than I am good at shooting them.” He answered back with a grin, “But I know my way around a gun.”

“Can you show me a thing or two that would be great.” I cheered while opening my arms, “You see, I’m kinda a gun maker myself. Made a couple of guns on the last station I was on.”

“Really?” Orion’s brow slowly rose, “Why the hell were you making guns?”

“You see, there was this Blob on the station. It killed about everyone before it got fried itself.” I answered with a shrug, “Gunner, you guys are carrying laser guns right now right?”

“Yup, standard issue disabler.” He cheered while whipping it out to show me, “It's not the best gun, but damn has it served me well.”

“Mind showing me its guts?”

“Sure.” He laughed while taking out a screwdriver and popping it open, “So you see here-”

The guts of the gun were pretty interesting. I was kinda right with my design earlier, but the one thing I was really missing was a focus crystal and capacitor. Such devices would of course measure out the weapon’s fire rate and make sure it did not damage itself.

“So you see, this crystal right here is special in that it makes the weapon either lethal or not. Of course this fellow does not have the lethal option, but if you got the Laser gun you would find a crystal exchange system.” Gunner advised with a grin.

“Very very interesting.” I agreed as the shuttle pulled itself into the station.

“Well we’ve arrived,” Orion said while hopping out of his seat, “See ya later Snickers.”

“Hey, one quick thing before you all go.” I called out while we got off the shuttle, “I am doing some research with this thing known as a Tesla Ball. If something bad were to happen with it, the entire station might as well be destroyed.”

Jackson, the one who was silent for the most part nodded, “So what do you want us to do about it?”

“If you see anyone running around with a proto-accelerator might wanna take them out and get that gun back to me.” I answered before nodding to myself, “And also include some more security in my area.”

The men all shared glances at one another, before it was Orion who nodded, “I will talk to the HoS about being posted at Engineering, however there are lots of experiments going about. I wouldn’t know their value like yours.”

“Cool cool, that will work for me.” I answered with a smile, “Well its time for us all to get to our workstation, see y’all.”

“Same here,” Orion said before we broke off into my part of the station.

With that I made my way through the halls of the station, which unlike many times before were staunch of any propaganda or material. They were instead replaced with several cameras that seemed to watch my every movement. And actually, I also noted that any access to maintenance has been curtailed as I only saw two entryways into the maintenance instead of the standard 4 to 5.

Soon I arrived near engineering research, with several doors that were in my way to get in. Four in total, all until the last one acted just like your average airlock where you did not really need to worry about scanning your ID as the system would just do it for you.

However, this chamber had a few different things. For one, the chamber was overlooked by a security outpost, as I am pretty sure whoever was assigned there was to check the faces of all who came through.

The next was the key card checker as if we were several hundred years in the past. Of course I had heard about this system in the past, the thing accepting my key card and scanning my face. Once it was finished, it gave a green peep before the bolts were lifted and the door opened up to welcome me.

The place was massive, that was for sure, and it seemed that areas were already prepared to be picked out. It was a first come first serve basis from the looks of things, but the two styles of workshops seemed to be either work in a vacuum of space or inside the building.

While being inside might be easier, looks like if I choose space I'd probably get equipped with a hardsuit. Be kinda badass, though again that means flying around in space.

With a will in my step I made my way over and to a small console next to the worksop. With a few presses of the button the machine started to change, coming up with a graphic I was hoping of getting.

Workshop S1 allocated, welcome Project Director Dickerson.

“Project director, I should probably make sure it does not get to my head.” I laughed while making my way into the workshop.

To one side of the small room was a series of windows, all of which looked out into a sectioned part of the aether known as space. The other, well a series of equipments and tools leveraged towards my use. Sitting there was about four large contains, holding the space suits that I would be using.

So with a smile I walked over and started putting on the most armor I ever had in my life.

As I was slipping it all on, someone wearing a white hardsuit came in with his hood engaged. However I knew right away the person was smiling underneath, “Project Director Dickerson, a pleasure to meet you. Chief Engineer Robertson.” He said while extending his hand.

“Uh, sorry I can’t really shake it.” I mentioned to the fellow while getting the leggings on, “Kinda getting this damn thing on.”
“Ah, you made a good point there.” He said while putting it down, “Well I heard you are looking into a new kind of singularity? Quite the event from my understanding.”

“Yeah some kind of electrical phenomena.” I admitted while looking outside, “Might destroy the station is it gets out, so I am a little worried.”

“Well since you are a head here how about I can give you a hand.” The man answered while handing me a small tablet, “These fellows are currently not assigned to any tasks or projects. You can take any and all of them if you want, though remember they are your responsibility if they got into trouble.”

“I’ll take… all of these fellows.” I said while pointing out a series of men and women on the list.

“You are asking for five people there, are you sure you want this many men under you?”

“It would not hurt to have this many, and it means I will have plenty of hands when working on things.” I answered with a smile.

“Alright, understood.” He said before marking down all the names on his data pad, “So what exactly are you trying to produce?”

“A giant ball of electricity using a series of proto accelerators.” I answered while looking out into space.

“Ah yes, the Proto Accelerator is an interesting device.” The man admitted with a small chuckle, “Near unlimited firing ability, though takes a few second to recharge before every shot. It fires a small and nearly invisible particle that injures the opposing party.”

“I take it you worked with it once before?”

“Yes, when I worked on a mining station.” He answered gladly, “Well I will leave you to it, expect your men in an hour.”

“Understood, thanks.” I said while waving the CE off.

As he left I began to scheme on what exactly I would want to produce. I guess the first part would be recreating the machine that started it all.

The set up that did cause the anomaly was several guns strapped upon a robot, which apparently all of them firing caused something to happen. I guess the big thing is how to rebuild that device.

I could go with a similar version as before, several smaller guns firing at once. However I would need to figure out a mechanism to fire them as I don’t think a computer is going to be able to handle all those mechanisms. However, its easily similar to my previous system.

I could also go with one big system, that fires just a big round of atoms at once. While it might not seem like much, Omnissiah knows what would happen as I am basically making a big gun.

In the end the best thing is probably numerous smaller shots, not some massive superweapon that could destroy pieces of the station. That of course meant that I needed a fuck ton of proto-accelerators in order to get things set up.

So with a few presses of the button I had already started the ordering of my products.

It was kinda a warm feeling in the chest, knowing that I was now the person running an entire project. Blessed by the Omnissiah, I aim to have gotten the ability to advance the field of science and understanding towards its greatest length across the heavens of space.

It was then that the door across from me opened up, revealing a fellow wearing a grey jump suit.

“Hello there, pleasure to meet ya.” The Assistant said as he crossed the gap between myself and him, “Professional Assistant, John Doe at your service.”

“John Doe…” It took me to realize the situation, “You are quite early, like, really early.”

“I try to prove myself punctual, especially to my new boss.” He laughed while walking over towards the Decontamination Chambers, “You know how hard it is getting your hands on a hard suit. Normally they take something like 5 doors before you can get to it.”

“Yes they are pretty nice.” I admitted while not exactly catching what the fellow was saying, “Mind if I check something, I need to test your skin.”

[Authority Failed]

“Skin? What the hell are you talking about?” He asked with a small panic.

I looked the fellow up and down, and he seemed honestly freaked out by what I was saying, “I knew a person with your name who turned out to not have the best of intentions.”

“Oh, that…” The guy gave a small laugh, “Yeah you see, I was captured by a Ling once and eaten by him. No one realized I was dead until that shuttle was evacuated and I was not among the survivors.”

“Oh. OHhhhh.” I said while shaking my head, “That… makes a little sense.”

“Well get a suit on.” I told the fellow while clicking the helmet on, ”We are going to check out the worksop”

“Fuck yeah!” The Assistant cheered while getting his equipment on.

To be honest I still am not going to trust this fellow out right. However it is better to keep Mr. John Doe close to me just to make sure he was telling me the truth, and that he is not a Changeling in disguise waiting for the chance to eat my gnome.

Once he got his own space suit on we hopped over to the airlock that was keeping us from the outside. Within a few moment the vents roared to life, sucking up all the air that was within our chamber. I made sure of course that my oxygen was turned on, soon walking into the void of space.

I have never really been out in space like this, I would admit. Last time I experince space was when the Tesla Ball was ripping its way through the station and making everything a fucking wreck. Before that, I had no experience in space.

So when I say that ironically space is pretty calming, I am saying that from having horrible experiences in it before.

“Enjoying yourself?” The Assistant laughed while putting down some metal bars to make what I guess was for us to grab onto.

“Yeah.” I said while looking around for a moment from one point to another, “They gave me a whole lot of nothing here to operate in.”

“What you expect, half the job done for you.” John laughed while finishing his set up.

“I mean it would be nice.” I said while looking it over once more.

Overall it was actually a very secure place, with reinforced metal at all sides of the space. While it was open space, nothing too bad is getting in here without one hell of a mining operation to get in.

Though that does bring up the big thing about how I am going to contain the tesla itself, and even set up the entire workshop. Hmm, what to do?

“Alright, first order of business is to get something together to contain the damn thing.” I announced while holding onto a nearby wall, “Assistant, make some platforms and prepare them for stuff to be mounted into them.”

“Yeah yeah, when I get to that.” John Doe said with a hint of annoyance.

With him working on that I started working on getting the pieces of machinery ordered. Seems there was only one form of force fields, which meant I was going to be stuck using it. So with a few more presses of the button I had sent my request over to Cargo to see if it can be delivered.

As I was doing that I noticed a few people were coming out into the prep area, one wearing some kind of suit and the other was a lame looking man. Since I really had nothing better to do I hopped back into the airlock.

“Hello there!” I announced as my suit’s helmet was released, “Names McSnicker Dickerson, your Project Director.”

“It is a Pleasure, Project Director.” The one with the suit announced while giving a short bow, “I am Uranium II7.”

I looked the fellow up and down a few times, “Mind asking what exactly are you? I remember on the computer it was saying you were some kind of Plasman, but…”

“I am not human, if that is what you are asking sir.” He said back with a rather calm demeanor, “Please, sir, what task do you want me to start on.”

“Job for you to start on? Hmm…”

I thought about it, “You got an idea of what we are trying to recreate right?”

“Yes sir, some kind of electrical anomaly right?”

“Yes, now you see, it uses proto-accelerators. Just the main thing is I am not too sure how they fit into all this but…”

Let's get him to work on Tesla coils (collecting the power from this thing), lightning rods (shielding stuff from the anomaly), and maybe emergency backup power for the containment field. We also need power distribution setups so we don't make trouble when we send this to the grid, though that might be the CE's deal.

That's going to be how the tesla generator itself works when the protons from the accelerators fire on it.

“I need this thing to absorb the numerous protons and cause them to collide into one another.” I told Uranium as I waved my hand, “That should gather enough energy to cause the event to happen.”

“Are you… suggesting I make something you fire protons at?” He asked with a hint of skepticism.

“Yup,” I said with a mechanical grin, “You see, the last time this event happened essentially a bunch of protons were bouncing around a room thanks to numerous shots from a Proto-Accelerator. My aim is to repeat the process.”

“I understand, I think.” The Plasman said before giving me a short bow, “I will get right to work producing your object sir.”

With that the fellow made his way to the side, which led me to the person who came in next to him, “Uh, Alexander Hamilton at your service sir!”

“Alexander, I already know what I want you to do.” I said while patting the fellow on the back, “You see, we are in need of a few things when it comes to electricity. First things first, you know how lightning works right?”

“Of course, they are the first thing we study. What about it?”

“I need you to make something that would harvest lighting, but at a much higher rate.” I told the fellow as we walked towards the open space outside, “You see, we are going to have a big ball of electricity bouncing around out there, with lightning hitting everything. We need to make a system to harvest it, maybe a few rods next to capacitors.”

“I think I know what you are suggesting.” The fellow said while giving me a few nods, “I will get on that right away.”

With that the fellow was already on his way out, and I noticed something was coming in off to the side. With a quick stroll over I was welcomed with a large box. I could only smile as I opened up the box with about ten proto-accelerators all there and ready to be manipulated.

Now, time to get to work!

With everything before me it was pretty much a start at creating the system that will be fired into the deep darkness of space. It is going to take me one hell of a long time to finish it up, but hot damn was this system going to work!

Of course the first thing was mounting everything onto a frame, and that was a little bit more work than I was cut out for. Really it was a fight to see how many wires I could jam into the onset of the device, since I was going to force all the guns to fire themselves off at once.

Actually, with the amount of guns given I was stuck using more than a single machine frame. But if I got it right, they should all be connected to one another through a minorly complexe network of wires and the such!

“Ah, I should probably put this into space.” I said to myself while dragging the numerous pieces of machinery out into the great vacuum.

It seemed that assistant actually did his job, the place more or less laid out for me to mount my machine onto. Force fields were also up, though why we have stationary laser firing into them I do not fucking know. Maybe it was some gimmick the forcefields have or something.

Soon enough my system was set up, and I needed to put the final touches on my project. So… I needed to make a computer to manage all this right? A computer. Thats just a simpler MMI right?

With a little work and a frame I got started, just setting the wires into place. Yeah I don’t need to UI for this thing, it's a piece of machinery not a desktop. As for how to interact with it, I think a series of small switches will be ready to go into place.

Yup, there we go!

And with that all we needed was the final piece of the puzzle, which conveniently came over with the plasman into space.

“Here is what you wanted sir.” He said while showing me a large disk, “This thing should cause all the atoms to collide when fired from the Proto Accelerators at it.”

“Awesome, set it over in that force field set up.” I told the fellow as the electrician finished putting in his work.

With that, I took a moment to review my work.

>Numerous Guns to fire the atoms.
>Force Field to hold in the anomaly
>Atom collision to create the Anomaly
>Tesla Coils and Lighting Rods to control the lighting
>Simultaneous action firing
>Computer Based operation

“Actually, wait.” I said towards the Plasman who was looking my direction with a kinda longing look, “What exactly will happen if we fire a bunch of atoms into that.”

“I… cannot really say. Honestly I think that by collapsing into one another, we might get some kind of anomaly. Though what kinda… I’m more guessing a black hole”

“Why did you not mention it?”

“I thought you knew your stuff sir.” He answered with a shaking of the head, “What do you want me to create this time?”

“I’m not too sure, but we should probably head back inside.” I answered while guiding myself back into the preparation area.

As soon as we arrived in the area I popped off my helmet, looking over the fan like thing that we were given options to, “Think you can fix it?”

“I could, but I would like some pointers.” The Plasman admitted while looking over the piece of metal.

“Alright…”

A device that generates a strong electromagnetic field, the fired electrons should then start causing electrical discharges and collapse the field upon contacts, creating resonance and oue lighting.

“Can we, like, put a massive magnet on it to encourage the generation of electricity?” I suggested to the fellow while thinking deeply into my brain, “You know, can we use some magnets to get it done?”

“Magnets?” The inhuman person asked with a hint of curiosity in his voice.

“Yeah, since magnets are generally used to generate electricity why don’t we abuse that fact.” I answered while growing a smile, “The idea would be that when the particles are fired at the system, it would capture the charged atoms and make them form a mass. Yes, and once its generated we just release the magnet and allow it to travel!”

“That… how?”

“You see, when the last Tesla Ball was created it was when a massive amount of magnetism was in the area.” I answered with a brain blast, “Yes the Blob probably created a multitude of little cases just like this one that formed together! Or maybe it was the core that acted as the center of it all!”

“I will do as you said sir.” The Plasman answered while getting out some metal, “It will take me a few moments.”

“Good good, and get this thing out of here!” I pointed towards what I was suspecting to be a black hole generator, “Have security take it to secure storage.”

“Understood.”

It was only an hour later that Uranium VI came back with the completed product, this time looking like some mini tesla pool. However even from here I could feel the massive magnetic pull acting upon my body.

Soon enough he moved the product into the force fields and the shielding was turned on.

Nice touch there QM. I think it's because the field generators take the emitter's laser and "reformat" it to be more barrier and less destroying?

It's because we don't want the barrier going down because power was cut off to the field hence the emitters.

“Alright, let's get this done.” I said to myself while popping my helmet and zipping back out into the void.

With the control panel before me, I started activating the numerous buttons and switches that regulated the machine. The system, to my wonderment, actually began to fire up!

Numerous shots were fired into the void, enough that I could honestly claim it would have destroyed whatever was in front of it. However the firing of projectiles somehow started to produce a visual disturbance within space that you could see!

I was successful, as the machine began to fire in waves at the pylon that was resting within the forcefield. The system would hold, as I used my ID card to manipulate the system and prevent it from operating.

Uranium was also in the air, raising his scanner probably to see what in the hell was happening. My own sensors did not pick any radiation up, so I am pretty sure he was not getting anything himself.

Soon I noticed electricity building around the magnet, and soon it left the pylon all together!

In that second, for maybe the first time in my life, I felt like I had achieved the greatest accomplishment in my life! It was made, the second Tesla Ball ever created in the universe was by my hands!

Project Director: “OH COME ON”

Security Officer: “FUCK”

Captain: “Who the fuck leaked out location.”

RD: “Can’t say, but are fucked.”

Quartermaster: “With your permission sir I will start buying up guns.”

Captain: “Granted!”

The Radio had come alive as everyone started to get to work, and I myself knew things were fucking going to suck. I watched steadily as everyone began to return to the preparation bay, looking more or less panicked at the announcement. At the very least, everyone was here.

Thus I had to get started, “Uh, Hamilton can you get some batteries ready for the Emitters? I want to make sure the force field does not lose power.”

“G-got it sir!” He said before quickly making his way towards the inner engineering.

“Uh, rest of you…” I started to scratch the back of my head, “Do whatever the hell you want.”

And with that I just ditched them.

Yeah I’m not really a leader of men, and instead more or a maker of weapons. So with a little traveling I got my way through the place and was making my way towards the main science wing of this facility.

Unlike other stations, this one’s science wing could arguably be the main part of the station. So a general ID was actually able to get through a lot of the bullshit and get my mechanical ass into the place. However there was one person who I needed to see right away.

“Uh, excuse me RD!” I called out to the fellow who was yelling out orders, “I want access to robotics.”

The person turned around and looked me up and down for a moment, “Give me your ID.”

I did as I was told, and the fellow quickly took my ID and pressed a few buttons. Within moments he handed it back to me, “Build whatever the hell you want, just make us weapons!”

Depends on if these ops here are each playing to a role or not. One might have more firepower than the others, or might be packing EMPs, or all grenades, or only ballistic weapons, or more. I know one deadly gimmick I've seen is an op having all the cyanide and suicide hulk pills (that nobody really uses as far as I know) and geared to stun/down people. Once the op succeeds, he rushes in to forcefeed one pill to them then runs back and away, knowing the person is a dead man no matter what.

Pandemonium was probably the best way to describe the entire facility. Men were running around, trying their best to get tools and weapons together for what was bound to be the biggest onslaught in the galaxy. Even if this is a high security station, the sheer act of attacking us was probably enough to rattle everyone’s feathers and fear the worse.

However when I walked into the Robotics workshop, I saw something I was hoping to find.

Five borg units, all primed and ready for building and manipulation.

“Do I know you, human?”

Color me surprised as I turned around and faced a person I never thought I would see, “Kazriech?”

The Lizardman’s face soon became alight with predatory delight, “Sssnicker! To think you were here.”

“Alright, so my idea is that we are going to give these mother fuckers some guns.” I told my fellow while getting some metal prepared, “After that we can load them up with bunches of ammunition and send them to fight.”

“Soundsss like a good idea.” The Lizard said while growing his predatory smile, “However I can do you one better on the ammunition. What if they synthetically made it themselvesss.”

“Make their own ammo? You’re not pulling my leg are ya?”

“No no, remember how Autolathesss make ssshotgun ammo normally.” The Lizard pointed out, “If we can modify their sssynthesizersss, we get unlimited ammo.”

“God damn it Kazreich.” I turned to the fellow with a wrench in my hand, “I love that idea, lets do it.”

So with the little work we got to modifying the five borg units that were around us. Each system was given a nice new gun barrel, with a small feeding mechanism coming out of the synthesizer compartment. Of course that work was done by Kazreich, who took the compartment and made the one and only thing it would manufacture become bullets.

“Thatsss finished.” The hissed while turning towards me, “Now we need sssubjectsss and new lawsss.”

“What kind of laws are on the system?”

“Asssimov.” The Lizard admitted, “Thessse borgsss wont shoot the enemy if they are human.”

“If I gotte be honest, Kazreich, I got no fucking idea what to do here.” I answered to the fellow while looking over our small army, “We really have two things we need to think about, what laws are we going to give the Brogs and how are we going to give them a brain.”

“Thisss isss troublesssome issue.” The Lizard admitted while scratching the bottom of his chin, “Letsss take thisss step by step, firssst how to get the brainsss.”

“And that would mean we don’t need a Lawsss.”

I felt my brow raised to such a dangerous idea, “Why would we make an unbound AI?”

“Alright, I know what we are doing.” I told the fellow while getting up the radio.

Project Director: "Combat Chassis on PALADIN Ruleset routines are now ready, any available personnel not on defensive duty are requested to come to robotics for defense duty. Note that the guns have all been turned on."

Assistant: “What the hell does that mean?”

Project Director: “Look, you want to become a robot with guns and righteousness come to Robotics for your new life today!”

“Think it worked?” Kazriech asked as the door opened towards the general area.”

“Seems like it, lets get to work.”

Four people came in total, all wanting to become a weaponized borg for the use of killing nukies. We worked at them for a moment, opening up their heads and removing the brains.

Soon they were placed into the borgs units, with the chassis quickly changing to a red color as the systems got realigned with their new bodies.

“I Live Again.” One of the borgs said before turning towards me, “Oh this is cool! So I can kill anyone who is evil right?”

“Yup, you are to eliminate the evil people who are trying to take over the station.” I ordered the borg with a small chuckle, “Now go out and track them down!”

“Understood!” The Borg announced before rushing out of the room.

“Alright, with that we are finished.” Kazreich said while patting me on the back, “Nice to see you’ve gotten a hell of a lot better at this last time I saw ya.”

“I’ve been practicing.” I answered with a grin.

“Well you want to become one of the robotsss, or you got something else to do?” The lizard asked with a grin.

“Uh, I need to head out and get somethings here real quick.” I told my fellow while scratching the back of my head, “I’ll probably see ya here in a little bit Kazreich.”

“Sssame here.” The Lizard said with a carnivorous smile, “You need to head to the bar sssoon though, I’ll buy ya a drink.”

“Fine fine, I’ll do that.” I answered the fellow while making my way out of the Robotics Workshop.

Now though was really just a much more pressing matter, getting my hands on some good ol’ data. The Machanicus wanted it, and I was going to give it to them. Yeah, risking my life to transport highly sensitive data so that my Lord’s minions can take it apart.

Maybe this was similar to what those Syndicate fellows were thinking, though they were probably in it just for the money.

Yeah, money would change people. Look at me, I’m bound to an organization risking my life every single fucking month to research the tiniest evolution forward.

“Ugh, enough of that.” I told myself while shaking my head, “First things first I need to do is…”

Yeah, get a disk. Thats not too hard as I just walked my way around and swiped a disk from the autolathe area. Yeah having them out in the open was probably not the best idea Nanotrasen had, but it makes sense if for some really dumb reason the network was to go down.

Next though was going to be the harder part, getting the data onto the disk.

There were probably three places I can go to do that. First of course being the public terminal, where no one would probably bat an eye to someone using it. While its not really a suspicious thing to do, I might not be able to handle my nerves.

Second of course is back to Robotics, I can maybe chat up Kasreich but that means tricking the fellow. I’d feel like shit if things come down to that, which means I would need one hell of s distraction.

Lastly, a lone terminal somewhere around here. I can drop it off, have it download, and then pick it back up later. However that does mean it has my prints on the disk, and anyone can take it from me later on.

“Didn’t expect you to come back that soon.” The Lizard laughed as I walked into the room, “Got what you needed?”

“Yeah, kinda.” I answered the fellow while sitting myself down at the console, “There were just too many people over there to research some older experiments.”

“Older experiments?” The man said with a raised brow.

“Yeah, well you see.” I started while accessing the technologies available to us on the system, “There might be some old weapons research on the systems that we could use. So I wanted to see if we could scrounge a few of those up.”

“Not a bad idea.” The lizard answered while making his way towards me.

[Mental Integration Success]

I quickly pressed the download button for the technologies, quickly covering it up with a random piece of research I could find.

“Szzlime Breeding? That's an odd one if I have ever heard it.” Kazreich said while looking at the page, “Pretty sssure thisss isss going to take too long to pull off.”

“Your right I’m pretty sure.” I agreed while moving the screen back to the technologies section, “Lets see… Blue Space Crystal Studies, reality bending properties of Plasma, and Station wide AI Research.”

“Hmm, that AI research looksss just about done.” Kazreich admitted while looking it over, “What about the other two. Never heard of Blue Ssspace before.”

“Well lets see.” I answered while clicking on the tab.

Abstract:

Blue Space Crystals are a possible next evolution in the field of teleportation and reality manipulation technology. We have found that Blue Space Crystals tend to bend reality around them, causing simple things like a container to have a hundred times more volume than it had before. We have yet to fully figure out the true applications of it however, and feel we are just getting started.

“Freaky.” Was about all I could say while looking over it.

Look into the AI research.
>>
“No, thats not really in our wheel house ya know.” I told my fellow while pressing a few buttons, “The AI is really where our research is in.”

“Yesss, that sssounds good.” Kazreich agreed with me

With a few presses of the button I changed the folder to the AI research, and saw something I never heard before, “Analysis into AI Integration with Station Systems?”

I looked over towards Kazreich who gave me a shrug, “You got me man.”

Since it sounded odd I decided to read the document:

Abstract:

This paper looks into the interactions between Stationary based AIs and the rest of station systems. While it is noted that these abilities are shared with Cyborgs, we have noticed the greatest amount of abuse from the AI Support System. Example, even with communication systems down the AI is still able to control the station remotely.

“So, its looking into how the computers work and interact with one another.” I said while clicking about.

“Hmm, maybe theres something about what unit allows it.” Kazreich suggested with a smirk.

“Yeah, that would be interesting.” I said while clicking another document.

AI reconstruction software: Analysis into AI recovery systems.

Abstract:

As it is known, recovery of an AI when disabled by external means is limited to only physical retrieval of unit. However we have recently determined that an AI does in fact possess souls, even if they are not bound to flesh and are much more valuable to Nanotrasen. Thus, we have determined the possibility of recovering an AI’s consciousness at a range by using certain systems similar to the forced ressurection of employees.

“...”

“...”

“Next pleassse.”

“Yup.”

Mental Integration compared between Cyborgs, Mechanicus, and Preternis.

Abstract:

We have found that out of all units available, Cyborgs are the most useful in terms of tools and ability. We believe this to be a more closer interaction with their units in respect to the machine, similar to abilities exhibited by Machanicus Persons. We have found that if certain things are modified and upgraded, we can replication multiple limb activity that attuned Mechanicus are capable of.

“Kazreich, start making some more cyborg limbs.” I told the fellow with a devilish smile, “I’m going to advance myself to the next stage of my faith.”

If the Lizard had a brow, it would have been raised from what I was suggesting. However he was also more than willing to pull this shit off, quickly rushing over to the fabricator as I got out the research notes.

A look over the notes, and I got a little understanding of what they were suggesting. Simply put, the device they are suggesting is a small mental interface placed within the brain to withstand the extra weight of limbs.

Simply put, this theory was placed as they realized borged brains were getting assistance from the core CPUs and motherboards within the chassis. The theory states that Mechanicus have a ritual of manipulating the brain to better accommodate the augmentations.

Simply put, I think they are onto something.

“Alright, I got about four arms made.” Kazreich called out while looking over my shoulder, “Damn, so they want us to create this new machine?”

“Indeed, and honestly it's not that bad.” I said while looking at the system, “Though its a little mind boggling seeing as they got the schematic so large.”

“Yeah that thing would weigh you down, and probably the reason we don’t see it around often.” Kazreich admitted while looking it over, “Though I might be able to minimize it, though we’d lose some capabilities.”

“Whats the differnce?”

“You only get one more limb instead of two to four.”

“Hmm…”

[Religion Success]

“One thing I know is that our priests don't have their brain in the head.” I told Kazreich outright, “If we are willing to take the chance, we can move my brain where my stomach use to be. I mean, its not being used.”

“But that is risky, especially if you get hit there.”

>Move it into the Stomach
>No, the brain stays in the brain.

“Alright, I have decided.” I announced while taking out the disk containing a good amount of information on it, “Turn me more inhuman than I already am Kazreich.”

“Well if thats what you want.” The Lizard walked over and watched as I placed the disk into the fabricator, “You are probably going to be out for the next few hours ya know. And if there is a fight you are fucked.”

“I might be fucked, but I really want to reach the next tier of mechanization.” I affirmed while printing our the prototype brain chassis, “Also if you can add some metal plating around my stomach so that I don’t get brain dead that easily.”

“Hmph, easy enough.” Kazreich said while cracking his reptilian hands, “Anyways, good night!”

With a few more presses of the buttons my system shut itself down, and for a little while I felt almost nothing. It must have been hours limited to only being a brain within a mechanical suit, and honestly I do not know what to make of it.

Soon though I noticed a change in my thoughts, the weight of operation leaving for just a moment as Kazreich disconnected my brain from my body. It was an odd feeling, knowing that I was soon going to be in a different part of my body.

Few more hours passed in this state of unnerving disconnect, until finally I felt the systems once more connect to my brain.

So, the feeling of being hooked up to what I assume were four 128 Core CPUs is a something that is very hard to describe. The weight of so many little processes such as the beating of a heart and breathing of the lungs have been lifted from you. However in return for being lifted from the actions of staying alive, I am now feeling the weight of all those CPUs trying to pull me apart!

Ugh, it was so painful! I am me but now me is being pulled and used as pieces of calculations for the computers!

By the Omnissiah, the machines want to move! They want to fight and massacre! They know their true purpose, and such a purpose is protecting the aspect of the Omnissiah from complete destruction!

I… I will not be taken by you all!

Every shift and effort of course was difficult, the feeling of trying to take back control of my body from the mass of Machine Spirits almost impossible for me to comprehend! But I was moving, my eyes slowly coming into focus as I seized control of my limbs.

In my view was of course Kazreich, though the fellow looked outright terrified as I was struggling to control my limbs. However with just this little control, I was able to reach towards my bag and slowly bring out a small cig covered in white paper.

“L-Light… it...”

The lizard gave me a nod, quickly getting out a lighter and putting it to the fire. The smell of weed was of course in the air as I struggled to move it towards where my mouth was.

I made it, to which I took one hell of a breath.

“Guh!” I released a breath as the spirits snapped into line, their tearing at my very soul waning as I placed my hand onto the table, “Fucking hell, fuck.”

“You okay man?” Kazreich asked while coming over and helping me up, “Looksss like you went through hell for a moment there.”

“I did, oh hell yeah I fucking did.” I told him before feeling out my limbs, “I… six arms?”

“Well I saw a chance to give you that many, ssso I thought why not.” He laughed while rubbing the back of his head, “You look like a monster by the way.”

I was about to say something before shaking my head, “whatever what about the-”

Before I could even finish talking the entire station shook, the place shifting and straining to accommodate the new form.

“Shit they’re here!”

As if on cue, the entire place just continued to shake like it under a constant assault.

“Tsk, damn it get me some metal, glass, wire, and some lasers!” I yelled as I hopped off of the operation table, “We need to make weapons and quick!”

“Yesss!” The lizard cried out while running over and getting everything together.

“Time for me to start.” I said to myself while activating the fabricator and taking out some material from it, “Lets see how these damned arms work.”

It was difficult, being that I never used six separate arms before. However with each movement I grew better and better with the machines. Yes they were an extension of my very being, each equipped with a processor that would make normal men cry out in envy.

Yes yes, these limbs are now me! I have evolved and relinquished my human form for the power that is the machine!

My wicked smile grew wider as I raised a makeshift sword into the air, “Yes, I have evoled.”

So I continued my work, Kazreich quickly bringing me the material to continue my building. Things were not that bad, the only bothersome part of my body now being the modest bulge where my stomach is.

Yeah, even with the extra space I was left with a noticeable hump. And now that I thought about it more, the Magos also had something very much the same.

Was Nanotrasen taking data from the Mechanicus, and I was commit the other way around?

I shook my head, now was not the time to think about that but make sure that I succeeded in this fight. I have already advanced myself beyond the normal state of humanity, I would want to keep my modifications!

“Damn, when did ya learn to make gunsss?” Kazreich asked as I wielded the two makeshift laser guns.

“Difficult times bring innovation.” I answered my fellow while wielding four swords within my hands, “And thanks to you, I am one step closer to becoming the machine above man.”

“Hehe, yessss…” The Lizard said while scratching the back of his neck, “Don’t go around murdering men alright.”

“Oh don’t ya worry about that.” I laughed while patting the fellow on the back, “I’ll have a drink with you later.”

After saying those words I left the room, several weapons being wielded within my numerous hands. While of course it was a little troublesome walking my way over, I soon popped open one of the maintenance shafts leading deep throughout the station.

I was pretty lucky, as it seems with my designation as Project Director in Engineering I was given access to the station’s vent network.

So I traveled through the darkness, noticing that I was actually seeing a hell of a lot more than I should. Actually, this is as if…

Did Kazreich do a lot more than just give me new limbs?

I shook my head, it does not matter since this was actually helping me hunt. Yeah I guess I need to thank the fellow even if he did not have my express permission to attach a brand new pair of eyes on my systems.

Soon I began to hear gunfire, to which I slowly stalked towards the origin. It seems that men were fighting tooth and nail for whatever the hell they were trying to accomplish. I decided now was a good time to listen into the coms to see what the hell was even happening.

Borg: Purge those mother fuckers, we are pushing them back!”

Security: “Be careful you idiots, you’ll get yourselves nailed by their guns.”

Captain: “Hey they are borgs, we would just need to rebuild them. Keep fighting you fools!”

Borgs: “For Nanotrasen!!”

I was not very surprised when I heard a small explosion coming from the far end of the hall, which looked to be a pair of men running their way towards me. Just like the Captain said, they were wearing a pair of red space suit similar to the engineer’s set up.

“The Nuclear Disk is on the Captain, and hes hanging out in the primary hallways.” One of them said while tapping his radio, “Get some EMPs though, these guys have way too many borgs!”

“Guess we need to try and get a different angle eh?” The other joked, “If things can work out, we’ll have the bridge in no time.”

I thought about it, whether or not I needed to fight directly or to stay within the maintenance shafts. While it would be hella fun to take care of quickly and just terrify them, it was probably better if I just hanged out in the shadows and jumped them.

Yes, that would create the most amount of fear.

So with that I stalked, watching as those men quickly made their way into my direction. It was my luck, as I quickly stashed myself into the nearby locker so that not even their lights would find me.

“Is something… off?” One of the fuckers said to the other.

“What you mean?”

“Something is nearby, I can feel it.”

“I don’t know about you, but I am pretty sure these shafts are empty. Remember, there are no lights down this tunnel.”

“I mean thats-!”

It was at that moment that one of them foolishly got infront of my locker, and with a cry I gave a mechanical taunt, “Army or not, you must realize, Nukies, that YOU ARE DOOMED!”

“FUCK, FIRE!”

[Mental Integration: Partial Success]

I dodged and weaved, quickly getitng by the several bullets that were raining on through the air at a break neck speed. Yes this was deadly as fuck, but it seems my training had gotten me to the point where I could much more easily use my mechanics to their limits.

[Weapon’s Skill: Success]

The moment had passed, however, and soon I was upon the fool with a pair of spears in each hand. One went for the chest while the other went for the sternum, the later getting a nice but ultimately weaked hit upon him.

“Fucking hell is this!” The one I was attacking screamed.

“Fucking bastard!” He yelled while trying his best to get a good shot at me.

[Weapons Skill Success]

However many will know that using guns while in the mist of melee combat was probably the worst idea you could do, as the moment he brought the weapon up I thrusted a spear right through its chassis. Sparks went flying everywhere as the machine spirits cried for someone to save them.

I could not, however, as I was making sure this asshole was going to die.

“Get your knife out dumbass!” The other screamed as he was continuously trying to get a bead on my head. However with my weapons this far deep into his fellow’s stomach it was becoming evident he would just shoot his partner.

The man did just that, as right from his boot a combat knife was wielded against me.

[Ballistics Skill: Barely Succeeding]

I of course had the advantage in this fight, but it was becoming pretty obvious really fast that the fellow I was fighting was much more skilled than me. With just a survival knife, the fellow was actually able to parry two of my spears and get in a minor strike right into an arm of mine.

Actually those were not so minor, but since I was a machine pain was becoming a fleeting idea.

However with a few more stokes of the blade I was finally getting through his armor, and damn could I feel the fear from these men. They were not expecting this grand blessing of the omnissiah, no they were not.

Soon our last strikes came, as my spear went right through his heart the fellow removed one of my arms. However he was obviously in critical condition, and death was intimate.

“Now that one of you is dead!” I yelled while turning towards the other fool who attacked the station, “I shall make sure you are dead as well!”

[Ballistics Skill: Failure]

I quickly moved my two guns and started laying as much covering fire as my body could dish out, though none of the energy bolts ever did hit their mark. The Ass whole however was quickly forced to back up, firing indiscriminately into me as I charged forward and readied my spears.

“Stay back you fucking monster!”

“I am no monster, I am the blessing of the Omnissiah!” I corrected him while closing the gap bit by bit.

“Fucking nutjob!” He yelled while firing his gun right into me.

[Mental Integration Failed]

Unlike before where I had the element of surprise, this time around I was charging head first into a trained fighter. Several shots rang through my body, one of them disabling two of my limbs before I could finally get right into his face.

[Weapons Skill Success]

Within a few moments I used my remaining limbs to stab the fellow right in the chest, each strike getting just getting into his body. It was a glorious fight, with the chances of me succeeding in killing two of the Nukies becoming more evident.

Then the corpse from afar exploded.

Within the matter of a few moments, we were both sent flying into the wall. Even though I was a machine, I was like a ragdoll to the kinetic forces present. Pressure quickly left the room, and we were both soon stuck in a vacuum of space together!

“Fucking bastard…” I cured while trying to grab any nearby walls to keep myself still.

So these mother fuckers were built to explode the moment they die, that much is fucking bothersome! While I would have loved to have known that before, now was not the time to be bitching about it.

So with a quick movement I used my arms to get myself onto my feet, giving one look at the wounded Nukie was I tried my best to run past him.

Yeah, I could kill him, but that would mean I’d pretty much dead myself.

Within a few steps I made it to the air lock, which of course had the fire locks engaged due to the damned vacuum. With a press of a few buttons, I opened the door and past the fire lock.

However, at that moment, I heard a sharp bang from behind me and my vision went black.

Did… did my head just get blown off!

Warning, critical Damage received. Sensory systems no longer detected

System test, body pressure approaching critical.

Seek medical attention immediately

I know that machine! Of course the damn machine was going to bitch at me like this, but come on the lucky based removed my head!

In the next moment I could feel my body being twisted and turned, like someone was starting to drag me. However, thanks to the fact my head was gone I had no idea who it was! The only thing I could tell was that they were trying to take something off of me.

Tsk, if it was the nukie I might be able to do something, but at last I wonder if thats really smart. If my systems are correct, I’m pretty sure blood lost is about to happen any moment now. Movement would just doom me.

>I think we need to ask the smart question. Which Direction are we being moved? We lost sensory but that doesn't stop us from telling I'd we're being moved towards the explosion or the halls we were moving to.

You know that little thing that detects direction thats in your brain, its gone. It was kinda in your head.

Fuck.
>Lash out at the fool!
If it's one of ours they can be taken to medical or be borged. We did just kill one of the Nukies after all.

>Just stay ‘dead’ and hope they are helping ya
Know what. If I had to guess. It's not the Nukey. Plus I don't think we can be revived as normal.

I thought about it, the idea of the fucker looting my corpse was not very far off the mark. With that in mind, I did not bother to stab whatever mother fucker was trying to get something from me, in hopes that it would be a fellow employee.

Praise the Omnissiah

Within a few moments my systems began to power down, my consciousness waning from me. I guess it had an idea what to do, but it was going to knock me out before it does the job.

How long will I be out? Only the Omnissiah knows that truth. At least the Machine Spirits can operate upon me and fix themselves.

I wonder what will happen once I wake up?
