You are Lieren, who came from nothing to lead a justified rebellion against the Tyranny of the Yan nobility and the Yan dynasty itself. Since your unusual birth, you've been known as a great hunter of the wilds, peerless in his skill and ability to move through the fogs of Shangrala unseen and unheard. As you grew, you become renowned as a true friend and kind guardian of the common people and the downtrodden. In your travels, you have brought judgement to and ended the lives of many a wicked and honorless villains. Your name is known to be that of a wise philosopher and teacher, who seeks to bring hope, prosperity, plenty and benevolence to all corners of the world. Though many know your name by your deeds and great works and labors to achieve your dream of a peaceful and bountiful society, only you alone know you have accomplished such triumphs against the cruelty of men and nature itself at the age of eight, due to your tremendous size and unnatural rate of growth.

And unknown even to yourself, is the truth of your origin and reason for your inhumanly impressive physique. For you are the 2nd son of the emperor of mankind, one of the primarchs.

Having learned the function of the archeotech tool you know as the Lotus Scepter, and having spoken with the crippled heir of the Kang to face the killer of Small Chen personally to rid yourself of lingering grief, you left your forces once again to undertake a duty of great importance.

Your mission, to catch Yin Aiguo and use the Lotus Scepter to steal his memories to learn what the Yan Tyrants planed for their hostages. Leaving Gao Daiyu, the noble and virtuous daughter of your old enemy Gao Liwei, in charge of your army beneath the watchful eyes and tender tutelages of your dear friends and allies Yin Lei, the Legendary Black general, and Jinhai, The rising star of the battlefield.

Ambushing the lord of the Northern Yin and Loyal Lapdog of the Yan King, Yan Weizha, you found he had been gifted a most treacherous tool. A spear constructed arcane technologies, further empowered by the foul energy of an evil spirit. The Patron of the Yan Tyrants, a beast that hid beneath the guise of a concubine named Huli Jing.

Doing battle with the sorcerously empowered general and his army of elite warriors, you bested the fool who would in his folly take on such dangerous allies, and stole away the secret of the Yan's final orders to those few lords who remained loyal to their cause of hedonistic decay and wicked excess.

The truth was so dreadful and terrible, it inspired rage within you beyond any enemy before had been able to stoke. For the last king of the Yan had realized his coming death, and chose to pointlessly end an uncountable amount of innocent lives simply to deny you and your philosophy the final victory of the war.

By drowning the capital in the blood of all the women and children he had ordered taken in a festival of slaughter and madnened degeneracy.

Enraged, you chose then to march to bring an end to such wickedness and avert what would be remembered as the gravest atrocity in the history of Shangrala. However, emotions should not be allowed to control the man who experiences them.

So instead of charging forward blindly, you chose to meditate for a time and clear your mind, to search for answers within yourself
-

Pacing your breath, you slowed the beat of your hearts and entered a state that to all others would appear as death. The flow of your burning, wrathful blood began to slow and calm. Murderous rage and thoughts of the horrors that awaited you at the capital began to fade away like cinders upon the wind. The fog of emotion and rightful felt anger began to settle and thin.

In the depths of your empty mind, you stared into the void. Every atom of your being became none to you, every pulse of your twin hearts started and ended at your command. You could feel every drop of blood dripping its way through your veins, feel the marrow in your bones. Every organ, many more than that of the common man, became as obvious to your senses as your own two mighty hands.

For the short span of your life, you had often looked within yourself for answers, and turned inward to restrain and control both passion and cold logic to achieve a stable internal equilibrium of the two paradoxical sides of yourself. That which acted upon emotion, and that which acted upon near mechanical instinct. The Genial Giant who labored so others may prosper, the Emotionless Ogre who stared out at the world and found the most efficient path forward. Both sides of you were Lieren. Rage, Sorrow, Joy and all other emotions were as much a part of you as much as the void of feeling was. You were Lieren, the Golden Eyed Giant from the stars and sole scion of the primarch people upon Shangrala.

They were both separate and not. One fed into the other, one aided the other. Two schools of thought so intermingled they produced a singular mind and soul, even though they were opposed. Cold Logic standing beside Warm emotion. That was the core of you. The Man bred within a machine, taught to be human by the simplest and gentlest of folks. Lieren was a product of his kin, without those you loved you would not be yourself. All your strength, all of your wisdom and knowledge was worthless compared to the character built through familial love, deep camaraderie and true friendship.

Love. Love was what made you strong. Not your body. Not your keen intellect. Nor even your natural talent in the killing arts. Love was the source of all your strength and the force that drove you to preform such heroic deeds and impossible triumphs.

Love. That was it. Love was the true center of your self. Not efficiency, duty or morality. But the simple feeling of loving and being loved in turn.
cont
>>
>>4696715

That was the truth of Lieren the Giant. the truth that had led you to this long and arduous path of life you had lived. Love is what commanded you to aid the starving villagers of nothing when you were younger. Love is what inspired you to build the giant's road. Love is what led you to rebel. And Love is what commands you to achieve victory.

A cool sensation spreads through your existence, from the crown of your head it begins, downwards it continues. Like a cool breath of wind or gentle caress of the ever moving tide. It dances across every inch of your body, soaking deeply into not only your flesh but your very existence.

The revelation, discovered in the deepest corner of your mind, has brought a further refinement to your mind, heart and soul, bringing you ever so slightly nearer to true enlightenment.

The void within your mind, suddenly shifts to a gentle gold hue. the same color of your eyes. The color of rays of sun piercing through fog, the color of a fire's warm glow. The color of deep and honest love. Of unconditional love. Of pure, thoughtless caring.

The very color of your soul. Dyed by the compassion and kindness given to and returned by countless lives. Wenyan, Feng, Jinhai, Zian, Rong, Shaved Head Wei, Half Jaw Hu, Liang and Jiang, Dong. Small Chen dearly departed, Fat Chen, Xin, Red Face Wei, Bai, Guozhi the wise, Yin Lei, Qian Xia, Tao Dandan, Lai Song, Gao Daiyu, Shan, Dai Niu, Aruna, Rudra, Manu, Kamikashi, Akansha, Shirong and the rest of the many friends and followers you have found in your life.

Avinash and Ananya and the other two hundred and eighty three students you teach and the uncountable others who have learned from your wisdom and gave unto you wisdom in return. The thousand upon thousand upon thousands of lives you have touched all touched you in return.

And they have given you love, as you have loved them.

This revelation of your own nature, has brought to you unparalleled understanding and comprehension of yourself and of your true nature. At last, you have met yourself and achieved a fraction of actualization and progress to enlighten. Dawning from the depths of your soul, knowledge grows forth as if hatched from an egg or grown from a seed.

By looking so deeply inwards, by turning your mind's gaze upon yourself. A hidden truth has been revealed, a fraction of enlightenment.

What lesson do your lips utter, oh beloved Lieren?
>Life is a but a transient illusion. The Physical form I wear is naught but an anchor to this fanciful dream we call existence. Already I have wandered along vast distances. However, further yet I can walk beyond this mortal shell.
>Emotion is a tangible force. When felt strongly enough, it can dye the hearts and minds of others. As my soul has been dyed in love, so too can I paint the souls of others.
>What I face, feels no love. It is abhorrent to existence itself. A being of raw hate and spite. By wielding the emotions it lacks as a spear, I shall wound it gravely and drive it away from the world I love
>One does not die when their body fails and withers. One does not die when they are slain. One only dies when their heart becomes empty of emotion and lingering attachments. My flesh may be sundered, my blood may be spilt. But as long as my heart burns brightly and passionately, I shall not die!

If this is the specualted psyker option, I'm saying that these are
[Telepathy]
[no clue]
[Banishing]
[Biomancy]

But frankly, while I like them all, I have to go with the coolest one that fits the music, SLIGHTLY ALTERED!
>One does not die when their body fails and withers. One does not die when they are slain. One only dies when their heart becomes empty of emotion and dearest attachments. My flesh may be sundered, my blood may be spilt. But as long as my heart burns brightly and passionately, With my friends and followers and family still relying on me, I shall not die!
>>
>>4696721
>What I face, feels no love. It is abhorrent to existence itself. A being of raw hate and spite. By wielding the emotions it lacks as a spear, I shall wound it gravely and drive it away from the world I love
The only thing that can truly hurt chaos.
>>
>>4696733
The second one probably would be like the Emperors ability to influence other's minds.
>>
>>4696739
Maybe. But even if it is, I feel that "So long as one innocent is in harms way, I shall not fall!" is so Lieren that it's just. . . Mmmmm.

Not the most useful choice. Not the most sensible choice. But damn if it isn't dripping with his sense of morals and purpose on it.
>>
>>4696746
Then again, your option fits more with "hunter" lieren, rather than "Gentle giant with kind golden eyes" Lieren
>>
>>4696721
>>What I face, feels no love. It is abhorrent to existence itself. A being of raw hate and spite. By wielding the emotions it lacks as a spear, I shall wound it gravely and drive it away from the world I love
time to finally get a weapon to mess up demons
>>
>>4696733
More likely the second is telepathy the first is divination.
>>4696721
>What I face, feels no love. It is abhorrent to existence itself. A being of raw hate and spite. By wielding the emotions it lacks as a spear, I shall wound it gravely and drive it away from the world I love
Time to delete a daemon from existence.
>>
>>4696746
I don't know, I personally think that is too close to Vulkan thing with loving people and being a perpetual.
I think banishing combines really well with the journey.
>>
>What I face, feels no love. It is abhorrent to existence itself. A being of raw hate and spite. By wielding the emotions it lacks as a spear, I shall wound it gravely and drive it away from the world I love
>Lieren: *Points to Daemon* Yeetus Deletus.
>>
>>4696754
And the night haunter is too close to Corvus Corax, I'm not too bothered.

You raise a fair point on the journey, banishing hedonism and tyranny. But by that same argument, Divination also fits really well as a means of discerning wisdom from those who walked your path before.

>>4696752
That could make sense, but part of me still thinks that the "emotion is a tangible force" is a bit on the nose.
Or maybe malal never planned for us to develop proper psychic powers and we are debating over nothing. Least it's a good thought experiment.

We’re going to unlock the others later on anyway, it would be silly not to.

This is the most helpful right now I think unless the first one is some kind of astral projection which will allow us to see things from afar. Still I choose the above however as it will help in case others daemons appear.
>>
Anyone else think the choices kinda parallel the Chaos Gods? Maybe I'm being schizo, but it looks to me like they correspond to Tzeentch, Slaanesh, Khorne, and Nurgle in that order.
>>
>>4696773
I see no reason why he can’t learn all of them. Only reason limit to psyker powers is perils of the warp and control over warp energy which go hand in hand.
>>4696791
You bring up a good point.
>>
>>4696791
A lot of important choices we had presented have been mirroying the chaos gods, for exemple the tenents of the journey.
But in this case it's just a bit tangencial, specially since khornate options wants to oppose hate and spite, and the nurglite to deny death for example.
>>
>>4696791
It was mentioned that the Journey contains the positive traits of all four so probably you're right but as long as we're careful we won't have a problem with potential corruption if that's what you're afraid of.
>>
>>4696717
Aaaah, knew I was forgetting something. Forgot to put Kanzeon on the list at the end of the post. Must've slipped my mind because I doubled checked how some of the names were spelt
My mistake.
>>
>>4696816
It's less a fear of corruption and more wondering how I could make a Malalic write-in. Drawing a blank right now, I'll take a bit more time to think about it.
>>
>>4696823
Oooh sounds interesting.
>>
>>4696721
Whew lad! These are some tough ones to choose from

>>4696733

I don't want our dear Lieren to get redacted this seems fitting. I support this with the alteration.

_
[spoilers] Also I hope the eleventh primarch for the quest remains without redaction either. I still think this is one of the best quests I have participated in. I am fortunate enough to be here for it. [/spoiler]

I am excited for what comes next, and the music choice is nice. We are learning a lot about philosophy on this quest. Or at least I am.

Life and experience are understandings of things subjected upon us; the Tyrants were feel disgust for are great rules to others for their same actions. But to judge what is true, really true one much calm the tides of emotions and the roaring sea of ideals or biases. We were a might stone within this sea, our friends, the Journey...those who follow us stones that sat beside us more and more until this monolith of peace was but apart of a great wall in the deep calming the currents within and enabling all to find peace, like the great road we build.

>While everything in the world is in conflict so to does everything reinforce and balance each other, thus we thrive when we find balance and perish when we stray from it. By understanding this principle one can elevate themselves and world around them or bring ruin to it.

>It is through patterns and repetition that man understands the world, tames the wild, and bring order to disorder. So stands to reason that the greatest source of order is found in rituals we commit ourselves to whether they be simple habits or elaborate ceremonies.

>Vulkan: I'm a natural perpetual. I've been immortal all my life.
>Lieren: So...I was thinking really hard about myself this one time and then...
>>
Wow, I see little love for what is probably literal immortality... but I suppose killing chaos is good too as long as we become Anathema like dad, because Anathema means no phenomena or perils and that means nonstop psyker bullshit1, which is OP
>>
>>4696733
Oh fuck, then 'm split between biomancy and banishing, but I'll probably keep biomancy because it has wider uses and daemons can be banished by punching them with psyker-boosted primarch strenght, speed, and metal-coated fists. Also because healing ourselves and healing others is bullshit. Basically, banishing means no worrying about chaos ever again unless they go full focus on us, but it has no uses otherwise. Biomancy means not worriying about fights at all unless we fight a primarch+ tier oponent, so Krork Warboss, Greater Exalted Daemon Princes and Mega xenos like the elite Tyranid warforms, necrons, etc. If we could eventually enhance banishing into removing corruption from places, objects and people...
>>
>>4697471
theres already an immortal primarch
>>
>>4696841
So an anti chaos Malal waaagh? Seems cool, but we'll probably get a watered down version of what the orks have, and with the number of solo missions we are doing I'll rather get something that enhances Lieren
>>
>>4697485
And that keeps us from getting immortality because? Anon, Emps is immortal and he was designed to be the best human, so immortality is the best for humans. Also, other primarchs use psyker abilities, power armour and weapons, we will use them too and it won't make us unoriginal (unless you refuse and decide to conquer the galaxy naked and barehanded, like a chad should, just beware of the Beast and the Ragdan)
>>
>>4697492
Because there is no anti-chaos primarch.
People prefer to be it's own thing than just Vulkan 2: chinese boogaloo.
>>
>>4697492
i'm not saying that keeps us from getting it, i'm saying it's a character niche that's already filled. I would like our character to fill a different niche.
>>
>>4697497
there's nothing wrong with vulkan though.
>>
>>4697497
Lieren is alredy his own thing, he is completely different from all the other Primarchs, and I want him to live, not to fill a niche that he alredy fills. Building our character with a strong foundation that allows for wider improvement options (and anime/GW rule of cool logic) is what I think is best. But it's just my opinion fueled by tons of W40k characters and runs, and we'll probably get all the options eventually, if we workk hard enough

>What I face, feels no love. It is abhorrent to existence itself. A being of raw hate and spite. By wielding the emotions it lacks as a spear, I shall wound it gravely and drive it away from the world I love

For those that don't know what each option means, this is my interetation:
>Life is a but a transient illusion. The Physical form I wear is naught but an anchor to this fanciful dream we call existence. Already I have wandered along vast distances. However, further yet I can walk beyond this mortal shell.
[Astral Proyection]
>Emotion is a tangible force. When felt strongly enough, it can dye the hearts and minds of others. As my soul has been dyed in love, so too can I paint the souls of others.
[Epath link power or mindcontrol]
>What I face, feels no love. It is abhorrent to existence itself. A being of raw hate and spite. By wielding the emotions it lacks as a spear, I shall wound it gravely and drive it away from the world I love
[Banishing daemons and potentially perma-killing them in the future, fitting with our tradition of reciting the Journey to Daemons and hurting them, something that only Emps and certain plot devic-weapons can do. It also has the potential to make people genuinely believe/have irrefutable facts that the Journey can hurt and/or permakill Daemons and has overall power on the materium (miracles like the ones the Sisters of Battle do). This could make the journey into the new Imperial Faith, just beneficial and without most of the shitty stuff. It has a chance of making Lorgar either not fall to chaos or cry like in a virgin vs chad meme, so it has my approval]

>One does not die when their body fails and withers. One does not die when they are slain. One only dies when their heart becomes empty of emotion and lingering attachments. My flesh may be sundered, my blood may be spilt. But as long as my heart burns brightly and passionately, I shall not die!
[Biomancy and potentially Perpetual powers, my favourite because, whencombined, they can give normal humans enough regen and physical boosts to do whatever the plot demans. Now imagine that on a psy-active, melee proficient (for his tier standards) Primarch with xianxia lvl (and non retarded) martial arts. That's a lot of dead enemies]
>>
>>4697569
Empathy/mindcontrol comes under telepathy

I agree with your assessment but the Astral Projection option tickles my fancy for several reasons. Lieren could possibly send a message back to his army if somewhat unlikely this way. That and I would find it funny to see his legion try to divine advice from their Primarch using Journey and seeing it always first point towards this is just a guide not hardbound rules.

Also thinking about it now there will inevitably be rumors of a 2nd legion space marine being saved from death because their copy of the Journey (Pre-Great Crusade untranslated 3rd edition of course) threw a blade off course of their heart.

I choose this one. It seems in keeping with the upcoming Yan sacrifiices that we're trying to avert, Lieren's own observations of the spirits encountered and that there are things beyond the mortal coil that must be faced. He could be like those things, but at the same time in a manner of his choosing, embracing the power and harnessing it for love and prosperity of his fellow human.

TOTAL VOTES 32! I mean just God damn!

A real close race here, as this is one of the thus far rare votes where the options are mutually exclusive.

But the "Malal" write in wins and uh, that means I get to write something I am VERY excited to write.

Anyways, writing what happens now

To celebrate. Some suitable music: https://youtu.be/YJ9QOxzPaak

Moving independently of the rest of your being, your lips shuddered upon the warm summer breeze. From the stygian depths of the realm of your subconscious mind, you returned carrying a message penned by the very nature of your gentle soul. A lesson imparted by the disconnected consciousness of all mankind and all else that thought and felt. A teaching of life itself, spoken for the first time and perhaps the only time such wisdom shall be uttered by living lips. Knowledge both ancient yet newly made.

It was not wisdom inborn, nor knowledge gifted. It was a truth gleamed from comprehending the inner self, the shadow and light that existed within all beings. Your gaze had turned more deeply inwards than ever before and at last met its own reflection.

The fraction of enlightenment danced upon your tongue, unknown to your conscious mind until the very moment it was spoken.

"The forces that plague this realm, be they material or immaterial" Your voice sang to your ears, as if spoken by a separate tongue and guiding intellect "Beasts or tyrants are results of excess and intemperance"

A cooling wind danced around your body, a long silence at last shattered as all of your being, every inch of flesh every particle and atom of your material existence shivered in anticipation to hear the rest of the always known yet suddenly realized information that flew from your lips like a flock of birds before a storm.

"I empower my allies who in turn empower me" Your voice spoke joyously and gently, as you sat alone in the serene sea of your own mind, focus undivided and focused solely upon your own existence "The cycle is without end and beginning and with its power"

Distantly, you felt your impassive and emotionless mask crack, as a curling grin spread across your expression, a confident grin replacing stoic determination and silent introspection.

"THESE THREATS WILL BE MADE UNREAL!" A deep, growling roar crawled from your throat, screaming in its flight towards the heavens as you threw your head back. The very ground quaked and the winds themselves paused as if terrified.

"FOR! Nothing is real but what you create and what we create is reality!" A chant, hopeful and indomitable followed the dark roar from within, as the sun burns brightly after a long night. The winds dance once more and bird song joins the rallying cry of the words learned and spoken from your own soul.

"A reality" A gentle whisper dance across your tongue and over your lips, to gingerly fall on the gentle winds of summer as your conscious mind slowly began to awaken "Where The Rot is denied flesh. The Blade is denied blood. The Body is denied intoxication. And The Mind is denied schemes"

There is a sensation akin to suddenly waking, similar to the sound of a rifle shot or shattering glass. Your golden eyes open to see the world both brighter and darker. Sitting still in the Lotus position, you sit alone in field drowned in blood and death. Though fog clouds your vision,

your mind has become unburdened.

Unburned by both rage and sorrow. Once more your volatile and potent emotions have been tempered and their reins returned to your steady hand. Taking a breath, it felt as though it was the first of a new lifetime, fresher, cleaner. Untainted by the tragedies of war and pain of its reality.

You had found stability once again, and anchored yourself to the foundation of a mind calm and empty of both worries and fears. No longer are you troubled by such internal division. Where once raged a storm of wild and uncontained emotion, now lays a calm sea of unbreakable determination and indomitable conviction.

Slapping your hands onto the ground, you stood, clad is scarred and battered steel. Burnt and torn silks danced on the wind as it flew over your completely uncovered arm. Iron hued hair wet with sweat and blood gave its scent to the wind. Golden eyes starred out to the endless expanse of white and grey fog, burning as two wells of raw intent and resolve.

Lieren awoke once more and you understood what must be done and what was required of you. With renewed purpose, you once more took your weapon in hand, and began to drag the tools of your fallen enemy back to your wayward steed.

The injured mare lay surrounded by corpses. Smiling sweetly, you paused to mend the poor beasts injuries. She was of good stock, it'd be a shame to waste such potential to apathy.
-
Lieren's shadow flickered behind his back, for a moment splitting in twain. Unseen to his own eyes, his already potent and brightly burning soul roared and grew, as it paradoxically fed upon itself as fuel without depleting. Such introspection and meditation, had loosened the chains that bound the young Primarch's existence. Raw potential had been tempered and tamed. A crack in the vessel had been repaired with gold. The bottle had been filled and then corked. A dam had been broken and repaired. As a fire may be put to a torch, Lieren had set his own soul and mind, sharpening and refining his very being through his many hours of meditation and contemplation. An unassailable fortress had become a weapon as well.

And the boy had cultivated his essence into a useable tool. In the sea of the Empyrean, it was as if a stone had been tossed into its vastness, ripples gentle moving through its entirety unseen by material eyes yet felt by many.

On a distant battlefield upon war torn terra, the second legion of the emperor's Astartes were embroiled in one of their earliest conflict against monstrosities that had called themselves men, but could no longer be considered such so twisted were they by augmentations both mechanical and biological. Their orders were clear, they were to hold the line alongside the lesser elements of what would become the imperial army and be forever remembered as members of the "Old hundred". It was a storm of death and madness. An assault that aimed to weaken the ever tightening hold of the emperor's grasp upon

mankind's birthright.

Hordes of monstrosities both mechanical and eldritch surged across the field like a living wave. Boiling pits of ancient industrial wastes and long abandoned ruins of ancient and arcane industry covered the battlefield like constructed seas and mountaintops. A black smog coated the field. The light of the genemoded warrior's visors had shifted from a baleful red to a piercing gold by the cover of the toxic air.

They stood as giants among their lesser comrades. They stood as one. Their armor yet unadorned and yet unnamed the second stood resolute before the living horrors they faced.

A blanket of dread had fallen over the minds of there mortal allies. In the face of such overwhelming aggression and brutality. A single space marine spoke, stepping forward as the yet unmarred badges of office shown brilliantly over his Ceramite armor illuminated by the dim glow of his gene brothers' visors.

With a voice as sharp as a monofilament blade and as concussive as bolter fire, the untested captain spoke with a gravitas befitting of a veteran of Millennium of warfare.

"Our orders are explicit. We must hold the border against the wild fury of these rabid dogs" His voice crackled over a uncountable voxes, carried across the entirety of the battlefield. The Legion master himself, the first, bowed his head in understand as he stood at the vanguard of the defenses "Not a single step back shall be taken, we will not falter in the duties entrusted to us, we shall not fail in our responsibility to hold the line and protect those who lie beyond it. Our mission is clear, here we shall make our stand, valorous AND INDOMITABLE! FOR THE FUTURE OF ALL MANKIND, WE SHALL NOT BE BROKEN, OUR DEFENSIVE LINE SHALL HOLD"

"NOT ONE STEP BACK!" The legion master's voice bellowed over the vox as he raised his personal weapon, a power spear he had felt a certain connection to when he had been shown his wargear before his first engagement within the unification war "THE LINE MUST HOLD, OUR ORDERS HAVE BEEN GIVEN AND WE SHALL SEE THEM CARRIED OUT. FORWARD MY BROTHERS IN ARMS! AS ONE!"

As one, uncountable voices cried out, Astartes and man alike. Not one step back. As one, the second surged forward to match the storm that sought to drown them in their infancy, moving as a cohesive whole to uphold the task entrusted to the yet fledgling legion. And alongside them, marched the lesser armies of mankind, their fears banished at the mere sight of such dutiful valor.

The captain who inspired such magnificent courage and forged the first bonds of comradery among his brothers, fell in this conflict, dying to shield the Legion master from a barrage of explosive ordinance. Though his name passed unremembered, his selfless act rippled outward and set the second upon the path that would define them until the day they met their father.

Beneath a distant star, upon a planet named Colchis, the priest Kor Phaeron suffered fitful dreams and torturous nightmares. When he awoke a single memory remained within his mind. Two hateful orbs of golden fire and a warning spoken in hushed whispers and growled fury. "Fear the golden eyes". Desert winds howled around the shaking, sweat drenched man as he sat alone in darkness. His adoptive son slumbered, a source of comfort as they key of his retribution and reascension to rightful powers. Yet his mind could not be calmed by such reassuring thoughts, The visions of his dreams haunted him yet despite the extraordinary power of his adoptive son.

"Golden eyes" The once priest king muttered to the darkness that surrounded him "why must I fear golden eyes?"

The only answer he received, was the silence of the night and unheard laughter in a realm beyond his perception. The laughter of thirsting gods

A farseer had fallen to the floor, crying out in agony as a golden light burned through the now bubbling liquids that had once been her eyes. Eldrad was already at the side of his fallen kinsman having sensed the force that so wounded her before it had lashed out against her. Already his mind probed the Aether searching for the source of this sudden and violent assault upon the mind of such a potent pysker.

The future had shifted, destiny had altered. A blazing vision of golden light fluttered across his mind's perception. A warrior at once cast in shadow and glowing with a brilliant light. The eightfold path denounced and turned inwards.

A man who should not be as such. A man who had been torn from the destiny written for him by the hands of cruel gods.

"Curious" The farseer upon the floor gasped, suddenly ignorant of the agony of her injuries "How curious"

A knot twisted in Eldrad's ancient mind. Hope and dread intermingled. This was most unexpected

Four players sat around a table upon which the fabric of reality was laid over. They argued and cursed, accusing the others of treachery and underhanded tricks. A war was fought in the war by the four, as they raged and snarled, furious at the deception the others had no doubt carried out in an attempt to strengthen their own standing in the eternal game they played.

As their attentions turned once more inward towards self destruction, a shadow moved to the momentarily abandoned table, the game of wits and powered ignored by the infuriated siblings. With a flick of its wrist, a singular soul moved upon the board, a purely symbolic act committed in mockery. The slain and unborn being's sole piece in the wager of souls among the uncountable pawns of the other four. Silently and unnoticed, the shadow once more ceased to be and the game resumed once more.

The four began to once more argue which of their number could best manipulate the piece in question, unaware of how its position upon the cosmic board had been ever so slightly shifted. And thus, none could agree on who the piece would belong to and so any attempts to move or take it were contested by the hands of the other three.

So the piece yet remained free.

Jinhai was confused. He had sworn his eyes, which had never lied to him before, had shown him a strange vision. For a moment, he could have sworn he had seen Lieren upon a distant field, cloaked in fog like the most resplendent of vestments.

"Young Jinhai?" The black general asked gently as he noticed his sudden shock of confusion that had run through his fellow general's expression. Beautiful Daiyu turned her dark eyes towards him as well, concern shining within them

"are you alright?" the veteran among the three questioned "You seemed startled, is something amiss? If you are stressed by the duty before us, it is completely forgivable to excuse yourself from this discussion"

"I am fine, I must've drifted off for a moment is all" He says with a meek smile, receiving a judging glare from his fellow "King of war". Rong cackled behind him, and yelped as Zian smacked him to remind him of etiquette

"Do I bore you so deeply?" Daiyu asked with a playful flutter of her eyelashes. Jinhai's eyes fluttered. Daiyu blinked and shook her head, clutching it for a moment.

Jinhai realized then he must need more rest. He could've sworn Gao Daiyu's eyes had briefly shimmered as gold like the eyes of his dearest friend and teacher.

He would return to his tent early this evening, to give his strained mind the sleep it clearly needed.

It was a long ride to the capital, but you could not rest or delay. Innocent lives were at stake. With an almost serene sense of conviction, you road towards your destiny no matter the form it would take. This was merely an extension of your lifelong duty and endeavor to defend and uplift the downtrodden and abused. No matter what enemies or monstrosity that awaited your arrival at the capital you would march forward unafraid. Even if death is where this Journey would end, you continue upon the path you had chosen without hesitation.

If one life could be saved, even death would be reasonable price to pay. If many could be saved, it was a pittance of a price.

However, there must be a plan of action. Tactics to be employed. How would one prevent such an atrocity before it had begun to be carried out? What method would be most efficient in this selfless endeavor?

They have no idea we know what we know. We have to 'attempt' a fight and then be forced to surrender when they reveal their hostages. Stealth would likely be impossible as just found out here in the field. With their home team advantage, huli jing would sniff us out instantly.

Upon entering the city, quietly break the gates, this will be fundamental for have the people escape and thus avoid their sacrifice. If there is any symbol of the Yan or their foul patron, on our way break it with righteous hate (while not being seen).

(since i think is still relevant, i am going to repost a write-in that i made in previous thread.)

>Write-In
Upon arriving on the capital, we will write a message and leave it on the saddle, for then send our horse back to our army.

We will tell of our mission success, and explain what we now know, as well our current location. For our army is fundamental they concentrate on their battle against the great general, afterwards they will need to march on the capital. If the great general posses a champion with a weapon of sorcery, don t give him time to use it, kill it. It can be taken down, but it s as dangerous as a magical beast. The Journey words are detrimental to it, so use them.
The weapon it self shouldn t be touched, after the demise of it s user. It should be wrap in cloth and locked inside a robust box with guards watching it while not near it.
After the battle when you are ready to march towards me, remain wary on the road. Even if i am able to defeat the Yan in their lair, it s unclear what could happen in the capital region or if the other servants of Yan will still fight against us. I expect the land, the city and the people to be in a misery without end, they will be desperate. So bring more supplies and reinforcements from Nothing.

We should pretend that we are infiltrating so they let us in to ambush us, then, before thay can do it, we go ballsdeep into the city and kill the army and the nobles before they can harm anyone

I agree. I like that it seems their culture is being shaped by the forces they're serving with. I've always thought that the Old Hundred were very unique. Makes me wonder where the legion's recruitment pools are from though.

Much better to only fight through the palace than the entire city.

Just saying that since she both detected us when we got close and she saw us looking at Aiguo's memories both sneaking and surrendering is probably not going to work well enough even if we destroy the tail. If we sneak in however, there is a chance she doesn't detect us until we get close enough or she wouldn't know where exactly we are.

If our allies know that we are alive and well, than they won't suffer from a lack o morale. And it also gets rid of the tail so the daemon will have a greater difficulty of pinpointing where we are.

Perhaps. When the legions were founded, Emps typically made them with as pure stock as he could find from conquered or consolidated territories and domains. Only six of the twenty lacked founding from a specific geographical region. I'm not sure if there would've been a large enough recruiting pool if Emps just took from Old Hundred orphans, legions were created with about +10,000 original members and it should be expected that some recruits didn't make it to full astartes.

Nice.

The veil of night seemed strangely darker tonight. The capital could be seen upon the horizon, rising from the fog as an affront to the natural landscape, a man made mountain built of wood, brick and iron. Its ethereal silhouette stood within the fog, a thousand upon a thousand fire lights burning like earthborn stars. It was the heart of Yan civilization and its corrupted roots. A home of Tyrants and their prey, a place of worthless extravagances and pointless wealth.

How the sight of it sickened you. By the next dawn, the destiny of Shangrala and her people would be decided within that walled monstrosity. The den of tyranny would become either the end of a nightmare or the death of a dream. Either the Yan Dynasty would fall or you would leave this life and discover what truly awaited men beyond the veil of death.

Any other man would feel hesitant or even afraid of the prospect of undertaking the duty you must fulfill, for not only the prosperity of all but for their continued existence. A devil lived in the grandiose halls of the fox kings, and another born in flesh sat upon the throne. And beneath their heels innocent souls meandered through the streets of the capital city, unaware of the grisly and utterly foul fate that would await them should you fail in taking the heads of spirit and man alike.

Perhaps future generations would remember this night and the dawn to follow, perhaps in distant days it will become a cause for celebration and eventually naught but legend. Perhaps like the Dai monks, the events of tonight would fade from history lingering only in the minds of those who considered you friend. There was no way of foretelling the outcome of your actions, but they were necessary.

It would be impossible to stand idly by and observe silently as countless innocent lives were condemned to an early tortuous end. The coming atrocity must be averted, or you shall no longer be worth of even the name you had given to yourself. The one worry that still haunted your mind was the possibility of failure, that you be forced to witness the tragic ends of many whose sole crime was believing their masters. As they had been groomed and trained to. Whose only folly was fleeing the ever growing shadow of an unseen beast, an ogre of an endless appetite of the foulest of atrocities.

No. Such a reality could not be allowed to pass. The only blood that shall be shed upon the heavenly capital shall be that of your enemies or self. You shall avert this crisis and undo the wrongs yet undone. This is the reality you would create, even if it required every drop of your blood and the final breath of life to bring it into being. A price all to easily paid. For what is one life in comparison to countless others?

With your resolved reinforced and steeled, you turned back to your noble every loyal companion. Your yet nameless horse, who can sense the coming of bloodshed and is as ever eager to enter the fray.

>>
>>4699784

"My apologies my wild friend, but I must enter this battlefield alone" You say softly, attempting to sooth the roiling bloodlust within your steed's mind as he stomped his hooves and snorted as if in protest.

Patting his flank gently, you shook your head.

"No, I must march alone. A fool may call it destiny, a scholar would refer to it as an undeniable urge, but I know it as simply as the driving force behind my life. I cannot endanger another nor stand by as another is threatened. I could not bear to see you slain so close to the end of our journey together" You sighed as the mulish horse whined and tried to buck your hand from its side "Worry not, for you have a greater purposes yet to fulfill my old friend, before the war's end"

Bowing his head, your steed acknowledged your words and unspoken commands to halt. Smiling kindly, you ran your hand through the beast's coal black mane, sighing once more as your hands reached the base of its neck. For a few moments, you remained still, not moving from the position of petting your ever present companion. For the first time since you left the mechanicle egg that birthed you, you would be truly alone.

But such solitude would not last long. Either you would return to the open arms of your comrades, or you would fall and join all other men who have died in the mystery beyond life. But whatever fate awaited you, you would succeed in saving all those taken as hostage by the Yan Tyrants. A reality where you failed, you simply refused to allow to come to pass.

Moving at last, you savored the taste of the summer air before you began to pen a message, written in fresh ink upon an unsullied roll of silk, that you had intended to use as a bandage should the need arise.

"My most treasured allies in struggle and friends in comfort. I write this message to inform you all of the success of my personal mission to capture the lord of the Northern Yin, Yin Aiguo. However, I shall not return to your company yet, for his memories revealed to me an atrocity that I cannot allow to come to fruition. For if I were to shirk my duty, my hands would by innaction be stained in the blood of countless innocent lives. So I must march forward to the capital, to the source of the oppression we oppose.

This letter was penned a day's ride from the heavenly capital. By time you have received it, I will have either emerged victorious against the wicked heart of Tyranny, or fallen upholding my beliefs and refusing to be a witness to such horrors and foulness as the Yan had planned to commit upon their own people. I promise I shall succeed in saving the wayward souls held hostage by the Fox king and most sinful of creatures, Yan Weizha.

It is vital that you concentrate upon your own battle, against the tyrant kings uncle, Yan Zihao, and do not worry of my fate until you have yourself achieved victory. Allow no distractions or doubt cloud your hearts or minds. Upon the eve of victory, march to the capital.
cont
>>
>>4699785

A warning should be passed on as well, for Yin Aiguo held a sorcerous tool of devastating power. It is possible that Yan Zihao is in the possession of such a destructive force as well. If in the old fox's hands lies a strange weapon or babble, do not hesitate to end his life but for the sake of your own lives and those of your men, do not allow him to awaken its potent power. It is as dangerous as any magical beast I have faced, Thus I advise caution when facing the King's uncle.

Verses of the Journey have proven, in my lonely and distant travels, to be able to disrupt such forces. Recall my lessons, and you shall have a weapon to match even the deadliest of sorcerous tools. If such a weapon is brought to field by Yan Zihao, do not touch it with bare flesh. Wrap it in a waxed cloth, and lock it in the most robust of boxes able to be found or constructed while not under the watchful eyes of a rotating guard force.

When the battle is won, as I had prior ordered, march to me in the capital. But remain wary. Many foes yet surround us. Servants of the Yan, or chaos birthed by my actions could harry your journey to reunite with me once more. I expect the land, the city and its people to enter a time of misery, so bring with you fresh reinforcements and supplies from The lands surrounding Nothing.

We shall meet again. Be it in this life or the next. Our dream will not wither and wilt away. All shall be well soon.

Humbly, Lieren of Nothing, Proud son of the farmer Wenyan. May your lives be ever bountiful and filled with ease"

You only allowed time for the ink to dry, before carefully stowing the message in a small box of steel, wrapped in waxed cloth. Taking the spirit's tail and the six fanged spear, you whistled sharply, giving the order for your steed to return along the route you had taken.

Then, without delay, you turned on your heels and marched defiantly towards the heavenly capital, to at last bring an definite end to all this madness and bloodshed.

It was as child's play to avoid the attention of the guards upon the wall and roads. Many of them were more concerned with finding food to fill their empty stomachs or more perceptive to the snapping of twigs and whistling of the wind than your passing, afraid of unseen monsters and devils in flesh coming to reap a harvest of their flesh and souls. They were in a pitiful state, these men, but the wild fire of a cornered animal's will to live burned in each of their eyes. They'd be a dangerous adversary should they meet your own army as foes.

Those upon the wall, were better equipped and fed, but not less paranoid. With a few startled birds and rodents, they were distracted or scared away from their posts, as you slipped from shadow to shadow, snuffing out oil flames and lanterns lit by tinder and resin, the same manner as your "Eternal" lights upon the Giant's road. No doubt learned in your years of service to Gao.

It is contemptible that such a simple commodity was hoarded yet by the wealthy and elite. It was so inexpensive, to make such a long lasting fire, and yet the foxes still hoarded its secret like the most flawless of jade. Simply disgusting.

You moved across the wall, as the moon reached the apex of its path through the heavens. One by one, the six gates of the capital city were broken in ways that could not be seen by those posted upon them, even those trained to understand the mechanisms that controlled the towering gates. Namely the locking mechanism. It was advance compared to the technology of the other lands once held by the Yan dynasty.

But compared to Kanzeon's body and inner workings, it was barbaric and crude. With a few misplaced springs and gears, the locking mechanism ceased to function. An undetectable sabotage.

Now the people could flee and escape with their lives, if the worse caste scenario were to occur. Stepping off the wall, and crouching upon the tiled roof attached to its side, you looked over the city and admired its peaceful state for awhile.

It was much larger than the city of Twin Dragon's Folly, as the city Gao once lorded above had been renamed. It was a landscape of itself, lit by lantern light and bustling with activity. Men of all creeds walked the streets of the capital, dressed in colorful robes of silk and cotton and stranger textiles yet, music played and the aroma of exotic and strange spices filled the air. But such life was but a façade of peace, for among them moved an army, dressed in armor painted gold and white, the reverse of the northern Yan's colors, a sign of their undying allegiance to the house of Yan. And in the lantern lit streets, no children played and no women walked even accompanied by an escort. Further shattering the illusion of safety and prosperity woven by the nobility.

Snarling with a closed mouth, you stood once more, turning your eyes to the Celestial incarnation palace, the heart of the Yan kingdom and home of your most dangerous adversary yet.

Then, among thoughts of tearing Yan Weizha's throat from his blubbery neck, an idea passed through your mind and brought with it renewed clarity.

The scholar in Yin Aiguo's memories. Who reeked of crude gunpowder and became ill at the horrific scenes of hedonistic excess and pointless sadism within the celestial incarnation palace. He no doubt was the one who gave the Yan their primitive firearms. His mind would be a valuable asset against the king and his master, if he could be find.

So you leapt silently to the nearest rooftop, in pursuit of the new quarry of your hunt.
-
Yunru sat alone, in the palace he had been gifted. He had sent the servants and wife he had been gifted away from his side, to feast and celebrate his ascension to nobility and the prestigious office and social standing that had proceeded such an honor. Honor, he could not see it as an honor any longer.

>>4699789

He was a slave to a mad man. What evils may reside within the hearts of the rebels, were insignificant to the vileness of his lord. Yan Weizha had gone insane.

He dreamed of burying the entirety of the heavenly capital alongside himself, in a final display of power and impotent pride. Yunru had only learned of the mistake in lending his genius and allegiance to such a man at the dawn of would seem to be his last summer. How naïve he was, how foolish. to make such a folly. He thought the weapons he created would serve to return peace to the lands, but now he realized the dreadful truth.

He had armed tyrants and callous killers with the weapons so powerful they had no equal upon the battlefield. And worse yet, he gave him the means of producing the ignition powder so thoughtlessly. So thoughtlessly had he handed over the reins of the fates of the city, its people, and the world.

Now, with a noble name that would die with him Cao Yunru sat alone in his study, a prototype firearm held tightly in his hands, pressed against his temple. He was a gentle soul, a kind and generous man. He could not stomach being a pawn in such a wicked game, nor the orchestrator of such mindless destruction. A cowardly, shameful way to die. but at least he could face the heavens proud and untainted.

The sights he had seen, would never leave him, even if he could somehow escape the coming doom of the heavenly city. It was the only way to atone for his folly, the only way to be forgiven from his crimes. A single pull of the trigger mechanism, and it would all be over. Peace would return, and his genius would no longer be able to abused and twisted to such cruel ends.

Click.

There was a loud but muffled pop. No pain. Yet he remained conscious. He was not dead. The smell of the black powder filled his study, clouding his vision. Was it divine intervention? A misfire?

His eyes opened, tears streaming down his cheeks and dripping from his chin. And what they saw, froze the very blood in his veins.

A gigantic hand, gripped the ruined remains of his intended tool of suicide. Soot clung to the jadelike skin of the appendage, and he realized what had foiled his escape attempt.

The Ogre . Yunru struggled to speak, panic replacing the acceptance of defeat and sorrow of his grave mistake. The Ogre stood behind him. He had no heard him approach. The Ogre was in the capital.

A low, pathetic whimper escaped his lips. As images and depictions of the beast ran through his addled, tortured mind.

And then, a voice like the gentlest of autumn winds, and sweetest birdsong reached his ears. It was disappointed, and pitying.

"Such genius should not be lost to sorrow or grief, nor shame or guilt" The Ogre spoke, like a man as with one bounding step, he stepped before Yunru's schematics table.

He was a man, a giant man. No beast or creature. With hair seemingly woven on unwrought iron, and a handsom face. He wore strange, and clearly damaged armor, over a dirtied and tattered robe of silk. The stench of death and black powder clung to him, Yet there was a gentle, beautiful smile upon his lips. The only mark upon his body, was a three stripped scar upon his bare shoulder.

Otherwise, he seemed as if the incarnation of beauty and grace and composure, yet also the avatar of strength and conviction.

He was like a god!

A long forgotten feeling of serenity settled upon Yunru's mind as the giant standing before him gingerly, and carefully placed the ruined wreck of his creation in front of him, and took a seat across from him, kneeling upon the floor to look him into his eyes.

Yunru began to weep once more. Not from guilt or fear or disgust. But awe. Two loving, gentle eyes stared into his. They were gold, true gold. Unlike the garish dress of the Yan beasts. But warm and reassuring gold. Natural and good
-

This was troublesome. The scholar with an intellect to rival Shan or Dandan's own natural genius had just attempted to commit suicide in front of you. Luckily your flesh was sturdy enough to endure the force of the primitive pistol he had been trying to use to end his own life, even if your soot covered hand now stung fiercely and reeked of gunpowder. Now he was crying and sobbing again, overcome with awe at the sight of you and your sudden intervention.

The man was lucky you knew his manner already, or else you may have found a twitching corpse in his place.

What shall you tell the man, Lieren?

if it does scare people enough to cause the to flee the city, it could work, but there might be some causalities. Then again major casualties are what we want to avoid to prevent the daemons to get their power ups, so scaring people out of a burning city might work. We'd probably want to burn the whole place down anyways due to how demonically tainted the whole place is. You're on to something.

I would like to point out that Yan Zihao and his men are SACRIFICES. This means that they are likely a virtuous bunch and are clueless about Weizha’s actual aims. I also doubt they have another “sorcerous weapon” when they can barely maintain the lock on one of their six gates.

Idea for the introduction:
"You would know of me as Lieren the Ogre. I have come to free this land of the tyrant that is the hoarder or prosperity and excess. Would you join me, bring your knowledge and innovation to the side of the people?
"I am but a single man bound by the laws of the world to be in one place. Men of noble hearts pure thought are needed to bring my plans and actions for civility and community. Men who consider their actions and their consequences, who put their very being into the benefit of their fellows. With my golden eyes, I see you and your sins made with the best of intentions and I say that ALL IS NOT LOST. Make it right. Help me."

>Simply offer him redemption and a second chance.
We.know what he saw, now it's time to stop it.
>for among them moved an army, dressed in armor painted gold and white, the reverse of the northern Yan's colors
So white and gold was Yan's color too after all.

Malal. We are the mixture between emps and Malice. White and gold armour. WHITE AND BLACK IS MALICE AND FUCKING EMPS IS GOLD. Our damaged white and golden armour is how you can see we also follow malice.
Also I'm the anon that suggested the road and I loved that you used my argument as the argument of Lieren.

So with White and Gold being the colours of Yan it puts a not so good feeling in my stomach about using that as our colour scheme. This was one of the other ideas suggested way back when. what colour scheme do you think we should go with?
>>
>>4700833
I would suggest we wait at least until we conquer the planet or meet Lieren's Legion first before choosing because any color we choose might be already used by future enemies(like that Vishnu king).
>>
>>4700833
So? White and gold is aesthetic
>>
>>4700833
Isn't the Yan coloring like, the opposite? It's mostly gold with some white, whereas the designs we got are mostly White with some Gold.

Personally, i think White & Gold looks best. And it's an inversion, right? Of the Yan colors, so it's good enough.
>>
>>4700833
Anons I'm going to be real, A) good color scheme I like it, B) just because someone who was a dick used similar colors doesn't mean we just completely write it off as an option the azure and plum are OUR colors. Not Gao's.
>>
>>4700840

White and gold is Yan, gold and white is their army.

You want to know something. Even including the Gradient one which is a neat concept that I thought was cool, none of them look unique. Not a damn one.

I hate to be the fucking troll but they all feel fucking bland. Green is dark angels and salamanders and Sons of Horus (before they went black right? They were green?). White and Gold is fucking Lunar Wolves (Again before going black and maybe green) and White Scars. Blue is fucking Night Lords, Ultramarines, thousand sons (later) and Alpha Legion. The Gradient one at least had some cool element to it with the plum.

Like if we want to do Jade and Plum, we can use a different color green like Necron style teal or adding some more blue elements to the green and then plum which would be incredibly unique and beautiful if done right. We can still keep the golden elements on such a design too. Just please- let's try to at least give it some variety. I hate being the whiny bitch so please consider.
>>4700837
This is the way. We fucking wait to see what the legion is.
>>
>>4700846
No, Yan is Gold and White. Their army is also gold and white? Their description says gold and white, and the Yan's also says gold and white.
>>
>>4700857
I'm literally quoting the update. Take it up with Malal.
>>
>>4700017
>>4700857
The king's personal army is Gold and White, their northern family is whie and gold. The northern family is the army that our allies are marching against.
>>
>>4700849
Lunar Wolves wee never white and gold, just white and black. Also, literally every color has already been used. Stop trying to go for "much never seen before color"

Wacky combinations are ugly. The gradient was ugly. Using Necron colors is cringeworthynd trying to add random colora for the sake of originality is retarded.
>>
>>4700865
Are you're talking about the old fox? Yin's armour was gold and white
>>
>>4700867

There's other colors that haven't been used, which are perfectly usable. You can do certain colors without it being ugly, though I do agree adding uniqueness for uniqueness sake is kind of shit and I forget that Luna Wolves were black and white, and just Horus had the gold.

Though there are colors that do not have legion use. Orange, Light Blue (not Grey Blue) Teal, and dark red. Those don't have to be cringe and I was merely noting the color type, not the pallet, because going straight necron colors would not work on a space marine.

I just want it to look good and not have it be a dark angels rip off or an ultra marines nock off or an eldar nock off. If we do it, at least make it look like a distinct legion.
>>
>>4700883
Green is only used by the Salamanders at this point. The pre-heresy Dark Angels are black and red and Horus only went green after Ullanor.
>>
>>4700865
>>4700869
Maybe that was a mistype? The only northern branch we've heard about were the Northern Yin not Yan.
>>
>>4700883
I'm pretty sure there's a lot of chapters with dark red
>>
>>4700869
Mate, did you read the update we been quotting to you? Malal just wrote that the loyal to the Yan are Gold and White (guess what he was) while the cadet branch is is White and Gold.
>>
>>4700869
We don’t really know anything about the old fox.
>>
>>4699794
I was thinking the same thing as >>4700888
Malal, for the sake of clarification and settling things, what are the colors of the line the King belongs to?
>>

Maybe.

>>

>>

Honestly once we start fitting them with the addons that speak to our origins like chinese stylings and maybe fog panther capes from their graduation kill, they will start looking very distinct. I dont think we need to worry too much about about that.

>>
Im kinda over green
>>
>>4701193
In my opinion, there's way too many legions using green. It feels generic.
>>
>>4701299
One legion currently uses green. The Dark Angels are black and red and the Luna Wolves won't be Sons of Horus until after Ullanor. The Salamanders are the only one right now.
>>
>>4701055
I like that, that looks pretty cool how that one is. Maybe it's just the detail.
>>4701027
Welp.
>>4700949

>>
>>4701055
Wait, there's addons? How did you add that in the space marine legion generator?

Also, about the jade thing, you know there's white jade, right?
>>
>>4701381
There are sliders for standard ornamentation and other fancy shit. If you want legion-specific designs or aesthetics, you can select canon legions to go off of. It looks like Anon went with White Scars for that one.
>>
>>4701381
Instead of using generator, use the constructor tab.

You'll need to select every piece of Mk 2 armour but then you have full customisability, up to making a composite armour incorporating mk 2 to current.
>>
>>4699794
Introduce yourself, and briefly explain the situation before asking if he would wish to aid you in anyway.
>Simply offer him redemption and a second chance.

The other options seem either too blunt or verging on the emotional manipulation scale, let's be sincere without losing time, we need his help now before our army kills the Yan's last force.
>>
About the color scheme, I'm really fucking confused. Didn't the Yan have a Gold (main) + white(secondary) pattern? Why do they suddenly have both for no reason? I'm starting to think that Malal lowkey doesn't like the white+gold and prefers the plum and azure that he picked (I personally think is ugly as fuck and has a clear reference to Gao the asshole cultist, Slaanesh and Tzeench, no matter what people think or try to argue). I will stick to pure White (both the color of purity and death, because hur dur dur Astartes, the Angels of Death)+Emps (because Emps and his conceptual and symbolic value and psyker mojo).

>>
BTW, good job with the power up write in, I still think that creating a conection with Malal can backfire massively, but if the stable, continous Paradox soul powerup works like the lore makes me think it does, and the human Waagh field works anything like the orks, I think we are going to get swole and powerful as fuck from fighting for tens of thousands of years alongside thousands of astartes and billions of above average storm troopers (the IG kind, not the Star Wars losers). Also, our veteran Heroic units could get permanent boosts in line with mankind's Krork equivalent (aka, Perpetual Mega Psyker Geniuses, like Custodes or mini Emperors). Emps is either going to hate us and kill us immediately or love us forever, again good job and I can't wait to find out.
>>
>>4701672
Lol, how funny, because there is literally no other color that an open Slaanesh cultist could use aside of white. Gold I can understand, but white doesn't resemble purple in any way. You are right tho, I feel angry that plum and azure has been wanked as a symbol of hope and prosperity and white and gold as the enemy, bad, don't touch, Chaos. In the end we will pick whatever our legion picks or the players vote for, so no point in arguing over it. As I said, I'll stick to whatever I like, you are free todo the same
>>
>>4701662
the dress Lieren got given in Azure and Plum was sweet as fuck, nobody can deny.
>>

>>
>>4701684
If I were Slaanesh or Slaanesh-related, corrupting the symbolism of the color white (purity, fulfilment) would be a fun time. But you are right. If you want to vote to paint our sons in the colors of a slaaneshi tyrant, it is your right to do so.

Technically his colours were Pink, then Maroon then Purple from most to least dominant. Azure was the departure that made it clear that we were our own authority with edgings of plum to be similar to our lord without being confused for being a member of his house.

But hey, this is semantics and people will still get hung up on if it's right to wear it due to being a gift from a person we hate.

>Also shipping the idea of this man and Dandan starting their very own forgeclan with grandpa Shan.
Dude's old and married. I do like the idea of old gunpowder dude teaming with Dandan as some kind of teacher, though. He was able to figure out crude gunpowder weapons on his own, so imagine what he could do with our level of technology.
>>
>>4702050
Why do you want tk do this to the poor guy? Remember that Dandan is VERY fucking intense and practically a living, breathing artillery warcrime... but on the other hand, they can give us better weapons, so I approve
>>
>>4701743
Then stop complaining and propose a color that is cool and is also not trademarked by said Tyrant's patron god or it's asshole Schemer sibling...or both, like other people did. If the Yan's colors were corrupted in any way just by one chaos guy using them, to the point that not even Lieren, of all primarch, can uncorrupt it, 30k would turn into 50k fast. Now seriously guys, let's just stop this and talk about something constructive, because I left a few hours ago to avoid (both reading and starting) further pointless arguments and I got another headache just from seeing this shit start again.

On possible topics, what do you guys think our new hack soul-loop and anime "power of friendship and love" upgrade will do, because it's clear that at least Jinhai and Gao's daughter got Familiar'd by lieren, or at least got a soul link. If this work like a waagh, but instead of violence it's fueled by love and good vives, how far do you think we can go considering how much of a chad Lieren is? Will our primach get stronger if Shangrala' IG regiments think he is invincible? Will he get an even biggus dickus if we stablish proto Sisters of Battle in shangrala, that just so happens to be made of Vishnu amazons? Please feel free to shitpost

Uncle Shan then. I didn't mean Shan was specifically married in, but helping raise the kids to be proper pyromanic craftsmen.

Nigga the Ultramarines are bluer than Tzeentch and purer than any other legion, as GW so loves to remind us. The Dark Angels and Salamanders are green and entirely Nurgle free. Lemme lay out the reasoning for and against the two leading options as fair as I can manage, so you can stop brining this up. Commenting "suggest something" and then "stop taking" is retarded, so let this be the last of it until we are actually talking to the Emperor about it.
Case for White/Gold
>Looks cool (subjective)
>White is for half of Malal's scheme and purity
>Gold is for Dad
Case against the White/Gold
>Colors of a man who's very existence is anathema to our philosophy, corrupted by daemons, planning on mass-sacrificing innocents so we can't have his land. An utterly repulsive person with no redeeming qualities.
>White is already the main color of two other legions
>I don't like it (Fair, but not an actual reason)
>White has no significance or ties to us. (Gold does, though just our eyes)

Case for the Blue/Purple
>Looks cool (subjective)
>We're using it already, it's become synonymous with us
>We've made it a symbol of hope, prosperity, and benevolence throughout Yan, people love it
>There's a song about it (not our favorite one though)
>Gradient is unique
Case against the Blue/Purple
>Gao gave it to us (Holds the most water, but Gao also gave us Jinhai, the Black General, and others. Clearly he doesn't have the Midas Touch of shit.)
>I don't like it (Fair, but not an actual reason)
>Colors are for Tzeentch and Slaanesh (non-issue, see above)
>>
>>4702461
I'm personally of the mind that we just incorporate our personal colors onto on of our pauldrons and just stick with whatever livery the 2nd Legion has already fought and died in.
>>
>>4702522
I agree. Erasing legion culture went poorly for every Primarch who did it. There were always veterans who thought it was better the way it was and Lieren strikes me as considerate enough to try to take their feelings into account. But we meet them and they're something along the lines of the II Legiones Astartes Ass Blasters in their hallowed livery of orange, olive green, and bruise purple, we've gotta help them out.
>>
>>4702623
I wouldn't mind an orange paint scheme.
>>
>>4702630
It's a hard color to use well, a little goes a long way. But if you wanna try your hand at Chapter Generator, I'd be all for seeing it. Some anon said previously that it was one of the only colors the Legions didn't use. Maybe a sort of sunset/sunrise motif? That might be nice.

Calling the vote now. Sorry for the wait, had a few rough days

Bluntly tell him your plans to kill the King and purge his filth from the world:12
Give the poor man a hug:1
Simply offer the scholar of black powder a second chance and redemption: 12
Introduce yourself and briefly explain the situation:12
Gently and sadly ask what could've driven him to attempt to end his own life:10
Explain you have broken the gates and ask where the gunpowder and weapons are stored:1

So Lieren shall introduce himself, before gently asking what could've driven him to attempt to take his own life, before offering him redemption and second chance to make Shangrala a better place, by rather bluntly explaining his plans to kill Lord Yan and end his madness.

Writing now

I counted the write ins with the normal votes, and will try to fit them into the update. Sorry again for the delay.

>>4701662
Nah I wouldn't do that. Also to answer the confusion between the Yan and Nothern Yin's dynastic colors.

They are both gold and white HOWEVER I meant to put white and gold when I wrote the nothern Yin, as they, like Lieren when he was in Gao's service, are honored to wear the "lesser" portion of their masters regalia, with a hint of their main color. And I wrote northern Yan instead of Yin this update. My bad

So Yin Aiguo and his valiant cavalry who faced Lieren unafraid (As few have), wore white with gold. The remaining Yan forces, wear gold with white.

And to go on record I think white with gold accents is as fashionable as azure and plum

How fortuitous that you arrived in time to avert the tragedy of genius lost and a life ended by its own hands. Smiling softly, in a manner similar to your own vulnerable father, you clasp your hands together to properly and respectfully greet the despairing scholar, the recently named lord Cao. He in return, spends a few breathless moments gazing into your eyes, drinking deep every inch of your being and admiring your features. It is obvious from the look in his tear worn eyes that he is comparing the reality of Lieren the man to the falsehood and propaganda of Lieren the Ogre.

Such a realization would create a hole in the walls of his mind and heart, and present a most obvious means of manipulating the man to join your cause and lend his intellect to this final hunt. However, while you have employed such methods before, to great effect. It would sour the tongue to so carelessly abuse the fragile emotional state of a man who nearly killed himself. Thought their are many taboos you would cross and shames you would endure to achieve your own dream of a prosperous world, some actions are too underhanded even for a trickster such as yourself.

At last, the spell that had fallen over the Cao Yunru breaks, and he returns your greeting, cupping his shaking fists unsteadily, eyes never leaving your own. He feels if he were to look away, you would vanish and deprive him of the sole chance to wipe away the shame of his misdeeds. There is a will to live, a curious mind within those sorrowful eyes. Lord Cao does not want to die, he has simply been driven to the edge of despair. Taking his life was simply the only means he had of forgiving himself for his folly and the damaged it had caused. But now you sat before him, as if by heavenly intervention, to perhaps reveal another avenue of redemption.

Unlatching your hands from each other, you press them tightly together and bring them between your twin hearts.

"You would know me as Lieren the ogre, I presume?" You ask genially, speaking as a sudden and unexpected guest should speak to their host "If it would not be impudent of me, I would ask to know the name of the lord of this manor if you are in such a state as to give it"

There's a pause, as the scholar breaks and he blinks rapidly to reassure himself you are material and not merely a delusion of a dying mind.

"Cao Yunru" He speaks, through his dried and thin lips. You had already learned his name, by briefly observing his quite plump wife boasting of his genius and prowess as a politician to bored members of the nobility you fear will meet their ends at the end of a hangman's noose, mostly likely your own.

You nod, as your host merely gapes and stares at you in a palpable mixture of awe and fear

"You are the Panther of the south, the untamed storm, Hell's son" He begins to mutter, slouching back in his chair and shying away from you as he speaks a plethora of titles and epithets you had never heard before

"The traitorous builder, the usurping hunter, The false king of ogres, The unchecked slaughter, the hangman, The thrall master, the..."

"Well I have never heard myself referred to as such" You say with a broad smile, but the man does not take the hint and continues listing off the numerous damning titles the Yan have "gifted" you through propaganda and spite.

"He would deny the order of the courts, He would thirsts for noble blood, Defiler of minds and breaker of wills, Father of beasts, Son of the unconquered wilds, punishment of fools and philosopher of lies! " Cao Yunru continues as you squint your eyes and adjust your posture, so as not to show your distaste for the terms he refers to you with, and to mask your annoyance somewhat as well "I know why you're here! You've come to hang me haven't you? to punish me for my crimes of serving the madman Yan Wei"

The fool! he's nearly shouting now! His home's courtyard is filled with blind toadies and ambitious servants of the foxes. Does he still endeavor to commit suicide this night?! Reacting quickly you place your hand over his mouth, the sudden gust of air generated by the movement silencing him before the need arised to stifle his words phsyically.

"Shhh, we are surrounded by prying eyes and curious ears, my friend. I have not come to silence your genius nor to steal your life" You whisper into his ear, his entire body relaxing and going limp as he hears your words and realizes you haven't come to kill him in his own home, despite his recent attempt at doing such himself "If I wanted you dead, I would not have intervened when you attempted to kill myself"

"Oh that is most reassuring. I was certain I had met a violent and unfortunate friend" He mutters, his hot breath washing against your fingers. You pull your arm away from him, and kneel once more as he remains slouching in his own seat

"Which leads me to wonder, why you would do such a thing? I have seen men who have been driven to such despair before, but what could have inspired you to attempt to take your own life?" You ask in a worried yet soft and soothing voice, frowning as Cao Yunru averted his eyes in shame "It is quite upsetting to see any man driven to make such a decision, even if that man has aided my enemies. Tell me, oh wise scholar of blackpowder, what has made you so desperate as to not only contemplate, but to actually attempt suicide"

He is quiet for a long time, before he silently stands from his chair, and moves to a small cabinet nestled in the corner of his workshop. He retrieves a bottle of lemon brandy gilded with gold, as well as a small scroll set with jade, and a crystal vial of crude black powder.

Wordlessly, he returns to the table, pouring himself a glass of the strongly citrus scented and clearly inordinately expensive liquor into a half filled cup of dark, roasted tea. Liking the edge of the cup, he opened the small vial and wordlessly tapped a sprinkling of black powder into his drink

before proceeding to take a sip of the bizarre concoction.

"All I ever endeavored to achieve, was happiness for my fellow man. Understand, that I have never meant harm to another living soul, throughout all the years of my life" Yunru mournfully proclaims as he unfurls the needlessly gaudy scroll "When I had heard a devil from the south was preforming mischief and razing the lands of my countrymen, I was horrified, I was terrified. Not for myself but for my fellow man"

You nod, seeing a small smile spread over the noble scholars lips as he once more appreciates your appearance and the realization you were no bloodlust filled monstrosity that existed solely to chew on the bones of maidens

"And, I had hear unsettling rumors of the strange capabilities of this monster's hordes, spoken in hushed whispers by the guard forces and few noble men who returned from the field in search of sanctuary and protection" He says, his voice cracking with pain and grief as he remises over his drink, tears still crawling across his face as he speaks "The tales of the roar of thunder called for by enemy mystics, and of unseen devils and evil spirits slaying men accompanied by a strong acrid odor, reminded me of an avenue of research I had pursued in previous years before realizing I did not have the funds necessary to see it complete, a blackpowder that reacted like a thunderstrike when ignited"

"Gunpowder" You say, still wearing a genial and courteous smile upon your lips "I knew of it for sometime before I myself began production"

"I was certain you were blessed with a sharp intellect the moment I heard the eloquence of your words and the wisdom with which they were spoken with. I had intended to use the substance as a form of medicine or a means of lightning fires in the rainy seasons" Yunru explains, his fears abated and mind relaxed by the gentle manner of which you've treated him and the liquor resting within his own stomach "But, I understood that we live in desperate times and the realization that the black powder I had created before could be used as a weapon, brought me to a conclusion. A dreadful, foolish conclusion"

You sigh through your nose and close your eyes

"Continue with your story, if you are able to. I understand it must be painful to revisit such memories. But I implore you to try to overcome your sorrow " You say quietly. Yunru gulps down the rest of his foul elixir and groans as the pain of his past mistake returns to haunt his mind once more.

"I managed to earn a audience with the King of Yan, to demonstrate I knew the nature of the weapons that were bringing such havoc to his people, and drowning the lands in blood" He says sounding haunted by the memory "I should've seen the madness in his eyes then, as I produce my first attempt to replicate the weapons fielded by the ogre's armies"

"I had hoped then that the war would end by my intervention, and many lives would be saved by intervention but as the season passed I came to realize the hideous truth of my actions and the predicament of the country"

You open your eyes to seen Cao Yunru clutching his head and openly sobbing.

"I had given such dreadful tools to a man who cared not for the people, only his own pride and wealth. In attempting to avert catastrophe, I had invited it in!" The scholar wails as you cast your eyes downwards "My folly has allowed countless lives to be endangered, by gifting the madman with the means to end them all with but a single spark"

"So he intends to render the city to rubble?" You question as the man nods. So that explains the meaning of the Tyrants word's in the memory of his fallen attack hound. He would deprive his victims of even dignity in death, how monstrous. How enraging.

"I agreed to his suggestion to stockpile the vast majority of our "gunpowder" beneath the city, to ensure it would remain viable and out of enemy hands. But at the start of summer, he revealed to me his true intentions!" Cao Yunru wails, tears falling from his eyes like rain "And ordered me to light the spark myself, to ensure the destruction would be as complete as possible. He raved I would be rewarded in the heavenly realm for my loyalty but...but"

He sobs, his body shivering as he struggles to breath, wheezing and coughing while he struggles to speak, his face wet with tears and mucus as he struggles to keep from losing what composure he retains. You silently pour him another glass of his strange drink, dumping as little blackpowder into the liquor as you are able to before gingerly guiding the glass and the hand that holds it to his lips.

"Thank you, truly you're kindness surmounts the brutality wrongly attributed to your cause, noble Lieren" Cao Yunru whimpers as he splashes most of his drink upon his chest as he attempts to take a sip from his wetted glass "I never dreamed of causing any harm, I never wanted to be an accomplish to such atrocity. But by my folly, I have paved the way for a manmade calamity worse than any punishment given by the eight courts. I..I had no other choice, I cannot be forgiven for my crimes, I cannot right my mistake, I cannot undo the damages already done"

He wails and falls to the table, wheezing and moaning as the emotions that nearly brought him to take his own life pour from him like winds in a storm.

Carefully, you pat his back and press you hand between his shoulders, nodding your head as he shakes beneath you, crying as if his own father had died before his eyes.

"You are brave, but naïve to think that ending your own life would undo what has been done" You say pityingly, the sorrow in your voice intermingling with the grief he feels, making the entirety of the room feel cold and damp like an uncared for tomb "The ending of this tale would still come but you'd simply not see the end of it"

"I know my death would change nothing, I know it is cowardly, but how else would I be able to reclaim my honor as an inventor, if not by offering my life in exchange for my horrid mistakes" Cao Yunru whimpers, laying in a pool of potent liquor and his own tears and drool. You gently right his posture to allow the gentlehearted scholar at least some of the dignity he deserves.

"The courts and all their lords cannot forgive my transgression, I must be punished for the crime of giving such destructive tools to a man maddened by his own power" He claims, hand reaching for a fruit knife carelessly left upon his table. You grab it, and crumple it between your fingers. There's a conviction burning in his eyes now, he's breathing heavily.

"I must die, or I shall never know peace" He mutters as a pained expression replaces the mask of mad grief he had worn thus far.

"How foolish, for one so wise. I understand your pain, and I do not lay the blame for Yan's madness upon your doorstep. But do not be blinded by the lies of a heart. You can yet be forgiven for your folly, my friend. As the dry field sprouts in spring, as famine end, you can be forgiven" You say warmly, moving your hand to his shoulder as you look near his eyes and smile once more

"So wise, so kind. Why would any man call you a beast" He sobs, hanging his head in shame yet again "How could I be blinded by such libel? But I doubt even one as enlightened as yourself could answer the question poisoning my heart. How can I be forgiven, when the blood of thousands shall stain my hands?"

You take in a breath and press your hands together once again, shaking them thrice in the air as you pretend to ponder the question. You already know the answer already, but humility and appearing less intelligent than you truly are, usually helps to ease the burdens of an unstable mind.

"Atone for your misdeeds, do not seek to take your life when you are still able to save others" You say blithely.

"How am I able to save a single soul? I'd be tortured for merely speaking against that beast, I have seen such horrors in the halls of his palace. I'd be butchered in the streets for preaching of his madness" He says in a furious whisper "How can I possibly atone by saving others, when they are blinded from the truth?"

"How could a simple hunter as myself bring one of the old kingdoms to its knees before the years end?" You question, wagging a finger in the air as you speak "Refusing action and remaining idle because the only path forward seems impossible, is foolish"

He sighs, and licks liquor from his hands in a barbaric manner akin to a cat washing itself. Jiang and Rudra have done similar in the past. How it curdles the stomach.

"There's a light in your eyes, that tells that you believe I can undo my folly by some means, despite my impotence and naivety" He says, voice serious despite his sudden childish lack of manners

"You could have let me die, but saved my life, it cannot be purely out of benevolence that you have rescued me from my own heart. Lieren, your words have soothed me, your gentle manner has eased my pain. Your wisdom has prevented me from committing a great act of cowardice and forever shaming myself, but I still do not believe there is any way for me to be forgiven for what I have done"

"You could potentially help me bring an end to the sordid lord down from his thrown of cruelty and madness" You answer simply, cupping a hand to your chin as you speak

"What can I do, I am a fool wrongfully blessed with intelligence enough to wreck havoc through his own stupidity" Cao Yunru bemoans as he reaches for the bottle of lemon brandy once more. You grab it yourself and shake your head

"You seek to better the world, for the good of the people" You say happily, hoping to rally the scholar's virtuous spirit and confidence "I have come to free this land of a tyrant that is a hoarder of prosperity and excess"

He looks to you, a glimmer of hope in his eyes.

You hold your hand out to him, palm facing the ceiling.

"Would you join me, and bring your knowledge and innovation to the side of the people?" You ask honestly, giving all of the respect the man deserves in your manner, quietly bowing your head to show your mean no offense or that you believe yourself as his better

"You've come to recruit me? as you have so many others, what have I done to deserve such reverence? I empowered your enemy, did I not?" Cao Yunru questions, seeming quite taken aback by your sudden offer of allegiance

"I've come to this city to end this war before any more lives are needlessly lost. It is true I have sought you out, so that you may aid me" You say, raising your head once more as you rise to stand to your full height "For I have seen the virtue within your soul. Let us bring salvation to this place, and find it for your own heart together my friend"

"What use would you have of me? You are blessed by the heavens, you've crushed the military of the greatest kingdom upon Shangrala at every battle it has fought against you, what purpose could I possibly serve in your benevolent machinations?" Cao Yunru asks, adjusting his posture and sitting properly in his chair, regaining his dignity at last "I cannot fight, I am not strong. My personal guards are few and untrained. I have no stock of the black powder myself. I would only hinder you in any attempt to claim the thrown"

Clapping your hands together you walk to his side and slouch to look near his eyes without appearing too imposing.

"As impressive as I may appear, I am but one man bound by the laws of the world to be in one place. Men of noble hearts and pure thoughts such as yourself are needed to bring my plans and ambitions for civility and community to fruition" You say kindly, speaking praisingly and confidently to the small , meek man seated before you

Raising a fist into the air, your raise your voice, words filled with resolve and spoken in a tone so stalwart and strong it could cause mountains to shake. Hope burns brightly in the once hollow eyes of the scholar lord, his disbelief banished by the sheer certainty of which you speak of his character and virtue.

"Men who consider their actions and their consequences, who put their very being into the benefit of their fellows!" You proclaim, crossing your arms over your chest as you stand proudly above the grief-stricken Cao Yunru "With my golden eyes, I see you and the sins born with the best of intentions, and I refuse to believe you irredeemable as you yourself have. I say that ALL IS NOT LOST. Make it right, help me"

"But how? How could I be useful. If I am truly as great of a man as you claim, what could I do to lend aid besides my life, my death. All I know is how to invent and create, I am no warrior, Lieren" He says so meekly its almost sounds like a mouse's squeak

"A philosopher can save as many lives as the most skilled of warriors, a scholar can end a famine before any king. an army can be routed by simple trickery. Strength is meaningless. Knowledge is as powerful as skill in arms. Genius is more valuable than any treasure. These are the tools that you can lend to me" You say, smacking an open hand harshly on your chest "Give me your knowledge, lend me your wisdom. I have already compromised the city gates to allow escape, but I need council from a man of your intellect to show me the path of least violence to take forward, before I take the head of that rancid pig"

You spit on the ground for emphasis

"Yan Weizha, who would sacrifice women and children for his own vanity. Any information you can give, would be invaluable to my efforts to avert the atrocity he intends to commit upon his own people, the crime he sought to force you to carry out" You say passionately, kneeling down as you speak so as to match Cao Yunru's stature as closely as you can without laying down "How he intends to begin the slaughter, the defenses of his palace. Anything so you and I may bring ruin to his wicked plans. Let us unite our intellects and save the people. Let us save this place and the very soul of the Yan people"

"I am...I can't. I am just a scholar. I..." He mutters, closing his eyes as he argues internally, his hope battling against his cynical self judgement

"If you wish to find redemption and a second chance to truly help the people, take my hand" You say calmly, holding out your strong arm towards him "I shall not think less of you, if you refuse my offer. It can only be your choice to make"

He stares at his reflection in the pool of liquor, blackpowder, tears and drool for the span of a few breaths. He closes his eyes. The inner battle raging in his mind comes to an end.

He rises.

"Cao Yunru, shall not bring chaos. Shall not become synonymous with destruction. I cannot allow my legacy to be but cinder and ash. I will undo this folly of mine" He says, his voice raising and becoming louder than he had ever spoken before. Valor, conviction and a unbreakable sense of duty resonated within his words.

"Even if I am to die. I shall ensure no others will come to harm by my own inacation and foolishness" He says, grabbing as much of your hand as he is able "I shall see my sons born, and proudly tell of the time a giant sought me for aid"

You laugh, unable to maintain your composure in such a prideful statement said with such honesty and good humor.

"Then let us make your name storied, my friend. Let the tale of Lieren and the Scholar lord Cao Yunru, be penned this night" You reply, gripping his hand as tightly as he would be able to endure "We shall not fail, the people will be saved even if we die protecting them"

"I shall head to the heavens with no regret" He says before a look of befuddlement crosses his face "D...does your cul...school of thought believe in the gods and the heavenly courts"

You sigh, and make a mental note to gift this misled man a copy of the Journey when the night's work is done

How shall you have Cao Yunru aid you, Lieren?

Depends on whether the city relies on wells or a system of aqueducts for their water supply. It's doable in the case of the latter.

If there are some rivers running through the city than it would be possible to flood the underground storerooms.

A city this big has to have a water supply, likely an aqueduct. If we ask Cao where the gunpowder and the pipes are, we may be able to burst some pipes with our massive fists and soak an entire room. Repeat as much as possible for useless gunpowder.

That said, it might attract too much attention. Weizha might realise we’re here and order the executions early, so it could be better to just take out the leaders before an order can be issued.

Of course in that case there’s the risk of the daemon pulling some warp sorcery shit and making the bombs go off anyway.

Every path holds terrible potential for failure.

She's a ship's onboard AI, the only body she's ever had was the ship itself. Men of Iron were "humanoid machines" that served as mankind's armies and labor force. At most, they could be considered cousins of sorts. Hell, she's probably more advanced on an intellectual basis, she might not like that comparison. Maybe she could make a body that looks organic? It doesn't work in block colours. No way.
Best way to picture it is flame decals along the limbs, plum from the fingers/feet fading out to pure Azure from the knee/elbows.
Maybe an Iron/steel/white jade for the trim.
>>
I think gun-metal or wrought iron as a base color with black or white accents might work well.
Also mandatory golden lenses for the eyes of all helmets in our legion.
>>
I still like the white + yellow + gold trim colour scheme the most.
White is a very noble and powerful colour, a symbol of purity both physical and mental. It’s also a heroic colour, the colour of light.
White things also appear bigger than they actually are (why rooms in show houses are painted white, etc). That could help our legion’s image as towering saviours, an army of giants who will act both as the spear that strikes the heart of terror and the unwavering shield that shelters the innocent, with the tallest giant of all at its head.

>White is a very noble and powerful colour, a symbol of purity both physical and mental. It’s also a heroic colour, the colour of light.
None of that is true on this planet, or at least not in the culture of Yan. Here white part of the arms of two houses that stand against every tenant of the Journey on a base level. It's associated with a regime that only cares about it's members and is perfectly fine to let everyone else fend for themselves. Picking it would be like the Allies making the UN flag a swastika because they thought it looked cool. I'm not even arguing for the gradient anymore, there's just no reason Lieren would take the colors of either branch of Yan for his own, given what we know about them.
>>
>>4704943
Then vote against it. I will vote for whit+gold regardless because I think it looks great. I think we should all stop trying to justify a color or another with ideology, meaning or conceptual value. Just stick with whatever our legion wears or vote for whatever we like.
>>
So having been reading through the past threads for the last couple days, it’s been a fun trip, though if I could offer Malal some advice? Maybe make a pastebin of characters Lirein knows? Because frankly after thread 2/3 I lost track of just who about half the cast was.

Otherwise on subjects more relevant IC.....did we really have this talk about our plans with Cao while having a living piece of a manifested demon with us? A demon whose plan we were trying to stop?
>>
>>4704996
Yeah.
Putting it down lets it leave, destroying it is presently impossible as far as we know and if it wanted to spy on us, it could do so anyway.

As for characters, I find it pretty easy to remember the important ones. The only one's slipping into the background are the men who AREN'T important on a strategic level, but even then their names are mostly memorable, if not their appearances.
Do you remember that Gao was evil because he was ginger, thus had no soul
>>
Could a sky blue with gunmetal trim work, with golden lenses on the helmet?
>>
>>4705034
I remember Goa specifically because of his black and grey teeth and his corpulent yet diminished physique.
Unique descriptions of physical appearance helps some characters stand out more than others I feel.

Feels dumb to think two, so common colors are Yan only because the Northern Yin used them. If the Yin use White & Gold, then just use our own design. Kinda like we did with Azure & Plum
>>
>>4705261
Given that the northern Yin were the onçy ones that fought us with bravery, it could be a way to honor their memories, or what they could have become.
Kinda like our horse and Cui Fu being the greatest wasted potential of the world.
>>
>>4705289
Cui Fu's death truly was a tragedy that continues to grow more pronounced as time goes on.
If only he could have been salvaged, imagine what a force he would be on the field.
>>
>>4705261
>>4705289
Both the Yan and Yin use gold and white as their colors, the Yin just use them reversed(white with some gold I think) to show their loyalty to the Yan. If we have a problem with how people will react to the colors we choose we can just ask the people of their opinion like doing a public vote after the war for how the nations flag will look like/what colors they like for it. Although considering the circumstances, the people will probably vote for azure and plum as they consider them Lieren's colors but that's the only way to be sure of what they don't like.

>None of that is true on this planet, or at least not in the culture of Yan.
The fact that the rulers use it suggests otherwise, seeing as they paint themselves as elegant and righteous with all that celestial court crap. At the end of the day the Yan can’t claim their colours any more than Tzeentch can claim the Ultramarines for wearing blue. The concept of light and darkness has been mentioned before, and will continue to be so long as humans remain diurnal creatures that prefer high visibility environments.
>Picking it would be like the Allies making the UN flag a swastika because they thought it looked cool.
That’s false equivalence. Colours can be used as symbols, yes, but colours aren’t symbols. While symbols are rigid in their meaning, colours are so much more flexible. You’re trying to frame the colours white and gold, two very widely-used colours, as bad by comparing them to a symbol that most people will associate with mass murder and only mass murder.
The swastika does have multiple meanings, yes, but its most popular interpretation is that of Nazi regalia. Gold and especially white are much more nuanced. For instance, both the USA and North Korea use red, white and blue on their flags yet remain opposed to one another.
Followers of our Journey will understand this concept.

I’d also like to make it clear that the gold on that colour scheme is very minimal and could be replaced with silver or bronze for all I care. My primary interest is in the white body and sunburst yellow pauldrons with blue symbols.
>>
>>4705350
We're supposed to research better technologies/create better infrastructure after the war, so it would help with the vote. Even if the people are unaccustomed to voting(as they were under the rule of autocratic nobles) it could help make people get closer. If everyone decides on their new flag they will feel better about it, even people that don't know about the real Lieren yet. Also public voting started in ancient times so it isn't a novel idea for that level of advancement as the Yan kingdom though granted the votes in ancient times involved far less number of people than the Yan seem to have. The technologies we introduce should help with that however and in the end, it is a solution to what posters here were concerned about: "what would people think if we choose x colors for us?"

Most people are unfit to make decisions beyond the local level which is why a democracy will always become an oligarchy.
>>
>>4705392
Good thing it's a vote about colours on a flag then, can't get more innofensive and simple than thay.
Otherwise we might as well let king yan win, since his ways are obviously superior.
>>
>>4705392
I'm not saying we should create a democracy. Seriously most people in the kingdom don't probably know how to read and write so even if we wanted to make it a democracy, it would take years just to educate everyone. I was just saying that in this specific case, we could make it a public vote to know what most of them think.
>>
>>4705387
Democracies always become divided against themselves when parties form. Literally nothing balkanizes nations harder than democracy especially since it takes responsibility out of the hands of the corrupt leaders and puts it in the hands of the people for putting the corrupt leaders. Rather we should aim for a more distributist model.

>The fact that the rulers use it suggests otherwise
Why on earth would we give two shits and a fuck about what those people think their colors symbolize? To us and the people who love and support us, they're the symbols of oppression, cruelty, and hedonism.
>At the end of the day the Yan can’t claim their colours any more than Tzeentch can claim the Ultramarines for wearing blue
Bobby G had no exposure to Tzeentch or his followers before he met his legion. He changed everything about the War Born, from their name, to their colors, to their symbol, so it would better reflect him and the culture he came from. I'm not concerned that those colors are gonna act like a marvel symbiote and turn us straight to chaos.
> While symbols are rigid in their meaning, colours are so much more flexible.
If you want a revision of my own comparison, it'd be like Angron naming his legion the High Riders because he thought the name was cool or like the Iron Hands painting themselves purple post-Heresy on the basis that it symbolizes nobility and devotion. I'll admit the symbol/color comparison was inaccurate. Perhaps a more apt real-world comparison would be the Lancasters changing their rose to white after the War of the Roses.

>>4705427
See what wrote here
>>4705413
If I had to choose a government form for Lieren's new country I would probably choose, at least for now, something similar to the Yan model, except they don't get to have power over life and death of the people the rulers rule over and their position will not necessarily be inheritable. If a lord's/lady's child is as good as ruling as their parent, then he will become ruler next, otherwise a more fitting person will take their place.

Have him use his new position to move his celebration through the city, towards the Celestial Incarnation Palace as a distraction:3

I kind of doubt it considering that one of the key traits of his personality was being loyal to Gao regardless of how bad he was(and despite the fact that Gao's ancestors conquered Cui Fu's). As Lieren said, he would have been salvageable if we had met him years ago.
>>

If it's about the future national colors, we could say that we want colors that represent everyone instead of just Lieren. For the Legion we can wait and see what they look like first.

>Do we though? Might be good as an way to rebrand to be more general towards all of Yan instead of just "that dude who rebelled from gap"
We're already considered something more than just a common usurper, chalk that up to Primarch supercharisma. The nobles we've recruited follow us completely, I have no doubt that they'd support us to be king and the peasants love us. Almost nobody in Yan will think of us as a Usurper because we're in a position to replace the ruling class with our supporters.
>Also what he said, azure and plum looks ugly on space marine armour. There's not really any good designs
Fair, but subjective.

>>4705623
I honestly don't know if we're including national colors here. I'd imagine that the King's colors are the national colors. But if we want to represent everyone, white and gold aren't the colors to do it with. Off the top of my head, green would fit, most of the peasants are farmers. Maybe grey or black for miners, there seem to be a good few of those. But white and gold? Cleanliness and wealth? For peasants? I don't think so. Maybe the colors of Yan's countryside would fit too.

We could try that along with all the other technologies the pod and Kanzeon had. After the war ends(assuming we do not enter a new one) and we focus on research and construction, we could transform this nation and eventually the planet in one of the most advanced human nations in the galaxy(considering what we can learn from Kanzeon's library). The candles lighting the cramped workshop had melted away sometime ago, and now only the distant light of the moon filtered through fog and glass illuminated your meeting with Cao Yunru. While the man was blessed with many talents and had cultivated his skill in many fields, his greatest attribute was his ability to listen and understand what he was told. Despite being once blinded by the lies of Tyrants and Propaganda of fools, he readily heard the lessons of the Journey without bias or incredulity. And unlike others, his curiosity and desire to learn from and connect with others drove him to question and ponder the teachings of the Journey at such length the two of you could stay discussing its intricacies and the inner meaning of the tenants and stories within its pages for entire seasons.

He is similar in this regard to Yin Lei, who has found new purpose in the lifestyle encouraged by the words of your philosophy and Guozhi who despite his advance age shows a youthful vigor while debating the Journey with you its own writer, and elucidating the purpose of the proverbs utilized to provide context for the numerous teachings within your writing. You would have to Introduce Yunru to both of those men and Shirong as well at some later date, if the both of you live to see the breaking of new age's dawn together.

"If only could have heard the truth of the Journey from those who were persecuted for speaking its teachings, how differently my path may have been! Such an enlightened philosophy, such a kind belief. Oh the lies spoken about this school and the students who devout their lives to its message have been so unjustly slandered and persecuted" Cao Yunru bemoans as he idly carves a passage from the Journey that had particularly resonated with his world view. His statement of sorrow and shame, reminds you of the unfortunate and tragic fates of the followers who you had never met. The Men and women who had never honored you by their presence and friendship, yet acclaimed your work so vehemently they spoke its teachings to their dying breath. The most benevolent and virtuous of souls, decried as heathens and cultists of a malign master.

It is your greatest shame that you will never be able to learn the names of these loyal acolytes of the Journey. Those Martyrs who spread the lessons of hope and teachings of virtue to lands hostile to the simple existence of your belief. It is a sorrow that shall forever linger within, that the teacher could not have comforted his students in their final moments.

"Is something wrong, my comrade?" Cao Yunru asks, noticing your grief though you had taken precautions to hide it behind a jovial mask "Your manner has become rather sullen? Could it be the great teacher, the unmatched warrior, is afraid of the duty he must carry out tonight, as this Humble Cao Yunru is himself?"

You pause, puckering your lips tightly as you turn your eyes to painted ceiling of the workshop, swans and foxes dancing together upon a pale blue field dirtied by soot and other further marred by other signs of rising smoke. Fear? Death is not something to fear. But the possibility of failing at such a key task, that will determine the path of not only Yan but Shangrala itself, is an admittedly rather unsettling thought.

The lingering doubt that you could not only fall in the battle to prevent the greatest tragedy since the fall of ancient mankind, but also fail to ensure the destruction of your most terrible of adversaries, the very root of corruption within the heart of the Yan kingdom, the blight that has withered the very foundations of once great dynasties and twisted men who could have been great heroes, scholars or even philanthropists does indeed trouble you. If the dark heart beating beneath the exterior of simple decadence and pointless excess were to persist beyond your own end, it would doubtlessly corrupt the fledgling kingdom that would replace the old regime of the foxes of Yan. As it had Yan Weizha and many who had come before him.

And thus all of the progress, reforms and societal changes you have wrought, would become but tools for further abomination. With time, even the Journey itself would be subverted by that ethereal harlots manipulations.

If the Fox Spirit dies with you, then you can die content with the accomplishments of your short life. There'd be hope for the Journey to remain in its pure state and guide the new nation to the prosperity you had labored to bring to it, and lead it to be ruled by the benevolent and wise. One day it may be used as an excuse for war or persecution or some fouler ambition. But it would not be purposefully corrupted and twisted in your absence, Men would simply construct a Lieren that agreed with their world view within their minds and use him as an excuse for their wild ambitions. It is the nature of man to be so foolish after all. All things must eventually fade but they are remembered by the impact their mere presence had upon the world.

If The Journey can better a single life, you shall die joyously and enter the beyond with a proud smile and not a single regret. Huli Jing must die, even if the price of the spirit's banishment is your own life, you refuse to entertain the possibility of a reality where you Journey could become a tool of Tyrants and gospel of sin. It shall not come to pass. The Temptress of Yan shall die tonight. There is no other world you shall allow to exist but the one where you emerge from the coming battle victorious.

Turning your eyes back down to Cao Yunru, you smile sadly yet confidently, showing your teeth as you bow your head in the respect of the nameless dead who had upheld the Journey to their last moments.

"Your words, made me feel ashamed I could not stand by those preachers you spoke of. That I never knew the names of such loyal students of the Journey I have walked, that I never was bequeathed the honor of meeting such virtuous souls. And the shame, the unforgiveable shame that I could not stand beside them and save them from their cruel fates" You sigh, clapping your hands together and shaking them in the air to show how deeply you mourn the lives lost because of the message of hope you have spread and upheld.

Cao Yunru closes his eyes for a moment, and slowly mimics the gesture, bowing his head thrice as he silently grieves over men he had never known and had considered to be maddened zealots before this meeting.

"No more lives shall be lost to the hubris and hatred of the Yan, Not one more soul shall be given to the night for preaching acceptance and kindness" Cao Yunru says, in a tone unbefitting a man of his stature. He may be short in stature but he now spoke with the pride and conviction of a Giant, he spoke with a voice similar to your own. Strong, Stalwart, yet kind and gentle as well.

"We shall end this atrocious, wrongful rule, and return the lands to benevolent leadership once more" He says, standing tall as the embers of valor burn brightly within his heart, lifting him above the cowardly man he was when you first found him on the cusp of suicide. A most marvelous metamorphosis! In the gloom of the moonlit workshop, Cao Yunru glowed with virtue. His gentle, loving soul had been ignited into that of indomitable warrior, no longer was he but a meek and remorseful scholar haunted by the folly of his actions he now stood as a man who could find redemption by his own hands who had broken the shackles of misery he had bound himself within.

You had only seen such bitter determination a handful of times before. In the eyes of Cui Fu as he fought his final battle, in the eyes of Feng in the hunt, in the eyes of Jinhai as he trained by the river side, in the eyes Lai Song as he road valiantly forth, in the eyes of Yin Lei as he sat by the fire side studying the journey, in the eyes of Gao Daiyu as she watched the judgement of her siblings, in the eyes of Tao Dandan as you spoke to her of her yet unrealized talent, in the eyes of fallen Jayesh who had in his final moments bested his ancestral foe. The eyes of righteous belief. Eyes that could be called mad. The eyes of a will that refuses to be sundered and broken.

"Marvelous. I was once against correct in my judgement. You are as virtuous as I believed you to be, when I first laid my eyes upon you. Such a rare breed, a man who could without hesitation offer his life for others, others who may even wish to see him dead if they heard of the company he kept!" You praise, smiling genuinely and with awe towards the proclamation given and its speaker "You and I are of the same soul, the same heart. I agree completely and without hesitation."

"The world that shall greet the coming dawn shall be free of the wiles of foxes and the corruption they encourage"

You stand, and put a hand upon the spindly shoulder of the scholar, whose robes still reek of spilled alcohol and gunpowder. He locks eyes with you, and though it clearly cause him a great deal of stress and agony to hold his gaze against yours for so long, he does not turn away.

"For nothing is real, but what we create and what we create is reality" You state, imparting a portion of the fragment of enlightenment that had been revealed to you.

"If I live to see the birth of my son. I shall name him for you, oh Panther of the south. I have met no man so honest and courageous as yourself, and I am pained that I could only meet you after facilitating such potential devastation" Cao Yunrun says, holding back tears as he places a hand upon your own chest, as close as he can reach to your shoulder "But I am fortunate I was blessed to meet you at all, and to see the true Lieren, the man who would give his own life so another may sleep warmly"

"And I am glad I was able to prevent the tragedy of your premature demise, the world is brightened by men such as yourself, so gentle and kind. If I shall fall, I will be happy such wisdom can still exist without my teachings" You say proudly, nodding your head once.

Cao Yunru returns the gesture.

"And if I am to die tonight, I shall proudly proclaim my pride to all within the heavens that I was able to aid in defeating such evil and that I had the privledge to stand beside a man as virtuous as Lieren of Nothing" He says, removing his hand before reaching for his bottle of lemon brandy. He paused for a moment, and slowly pulled his hand away from the alcohol.

"I have bravery enough" He muttered to himself, before turning to you once more "I just hope it shall be enough to prevent the atrocity allowed by my own naivety"

"It shall be, true valor comes from within, rather than from intoxication. If you shall fall I shall remember this meeting fondly, and I shall fight twice as hard to ensure I may have a second meeting with the wise Cao Yunru" You say happily "But we both have a duty to fulfill, the knowledge you have given me shall prove to be a great boon in piercing the defenses of the Celestial Incarnation Palace, I pray for your success in your own endeavor"

Cao Yunru was terrified and afraid, his nerves were frayed yet refused to snap. A sense of duty would not allow him to turn away from the road to redemption. He was not a warrior bred, but the virtue within his heart allowed him to smother the terror coursing through his veins.

"And I for you, my savior. May we both be blessed to witness the sun rising upon a kinder world" He says, cupping his fists together "I shall take my leave, and do what has been entrusted to be me"

You return the gesture.

"And I shall end this madness at last"

Start with stealth, then depending on what we see, we do the rest. We can even use the Chendao from the inside to destroy a part of the palace, potentially distracting the guards from Yunrun's mission.

So while we're waiting for people to vote, what exactly is the plan here? We find and kill the king and the daemon? Create a distraction for Yunru? Find and free the slaves and hostages? All of the above?
>>
>>4705933
I figure the best distraction here is to get to the inner chambers of the palace and start wrecking Yan's shit immediately.
We're gonna be drawn into a proper battle with the fox daemonette no matter what, so that's gonna attract plenty of attention.
Unless the guards are trained to ignore cannon fire and walls of flame coming from the heart of the capital that is.
>>
>>4705934
So we're going directly for the kill? What do we do with the non-combatants that we find in our way?
>>
>>4705939
>What do we do with the non-combatants that we find in our way?
Honestly? We probably don't have to do anything if we kill Yan as soon as possible and keep the Daemonette occupied.
The guards aren't likely to start the feast without Yan's direct order to do so.
>>
>>4705940
Okay but we've seen in Aiguo's memories that they keep slaves in chains in some places. They will not be able to run away from the fight and our enemies might use them as shields.
>>
>>4705799
>Guardian wing
>Disable patrols and hide the bodies.

>>4705933
The plan is to kill Yan, Kill his daemon master and kill EVERY SINGLE LAST TYRANT IN THIS MOTHERFUCKING CITY.
The slave drivers who work the doors, for example, but this is done to prevent people escaping to order the start of the explosions again as well as save some time later.
>>
>>4705799
>>The Guards are inured to horror and trained to ignore the dreadful wails and cries from within the depths of the palace. Disable the patrols and guards and allow their screams to mask your entrance and hide your presence

Unfortunately we cannot afford to not be as thorough as possible. Plus I would love for the King of Yan to call for his guards and be greeted by silence.
>>
>>4705941
We can break their chains along the way and tell them to follow the path from which we have enter. Or we can still ask our new friend here, for other ways for them to go out.
>>
>>4705992
I am concerned that we will find ourselves in a situation similar to the sorcerer fight where he had prisoners chained near him. If the king or daemon do the same and have human shields do we mercy kill them?
>>
>>4706005
It's a terrible tragedy, but we cannot permit them to use our mercy against us.
Avoid killing them as we are able, but if it comes down to murdering 5 innocents to kill Yan/his daemon master, then 5 lives are going to be lost to prevent the deaths of millions more.
>>
>>4706034
I agree. Many lives have already been lost in this conflict. To shy away from it simply because we'd be ending those lives ourselves would be the epitome of cowardice.
Thankfully Lieren is the sort to have already pondered this question and will make the hard decision. After-all, they're the only ones worth making in the end.

Unfortunately doesnt solve the problem of both schemes with the white base. We'll need at least larger quantities of another primary to differentiate.
>>
>>4706142
Ok, so how about painting the gloves and boots blue? Maybe also the codpiece? It should be enough blue to counter the main white, but not too much to ruin it (hopefully).

Whote Scars tend toward 'Northern/Western' Asian for aesthetic (Yuan China Town, Steppe People, some Japan etc.)

Maybe since we have the Vishnu we could gravitate towards 'Southern' Asian? ( India, Vietnamese, Malaysian etc.)
>>
>>4706184
I would agree with going southern asian, but that is not where we landed and had imprinted on us. Also at a glance Vietnamese armor and Chinese armor have a strong resemblance to each other.
>>
>>4706187
The Vietnamese and surrounding lands I agree on, was just throwing out ideas

I have a feeling the Vishnu influence will come in later on, possibly in some Chapters
>>
>>4706187
Chinese stole a lot of their culture from India anyway. Kung fu was invented in India for example. But we’ve yet to see the other countries anyway.
>>
>>4706184
I feel thats a change in our iconography that doesn't make sense. Our cultural exposure and what we've made our own just doesnt fit too well with it.

Just because the white scares are closer to mongolian culture doesnt mean we need to go off very far to find something different. A more refined, regal look like that of imperial china would make a good contrast. Think Fire Nation vs Earth Kingdom. Both with similar cultural influences but with a very distinct look between then.
>>
>>4706166
Trying out the jade trim, I’m not sure how well it mixes though. You can see there’s a clash between the colour-dense pauldrons and the white base. It could work better if the blue was also jade green.

Personally i think it might be the genuine love his people have for him, as well the one he has for them and most of mankind. Beside that probably the Journey and the destruction of several evils (and the plan to give the boot to all the rest of them around).
In regard to Malal, it might not be interested at all in having Lieren and his legion. Maybe just in ensuring to put some strength for ensure in very critical situations, that his chaos bretheren suffer heavy losses and too make them weaker. The deity is still evil and wants just about everyone dead, including himself and especially his bretheren. But while he is about chaos and anarchy, having Lieren wouldn t necessaraly even the odds for him. In fact after the beating he received, he likely doesn t want to be seen or found by his bretheren at all. Helping Lieren even in small measure against chaos forces would put him in great danger.

Anyway here is the symbol for Jinhai, a carp with a spear.

Huh. I have never seen a Malal daemon before. Unfortunately all sources of Warhammer I have managed to see or read didn't say much about Malal which is a shame. He seems like an interesting part of the lore.
>>
>>4706955
that's because he ((("doesn't exist")))
>>
>>4706955
What sucks is that the rights to Malal as a character are up in the air.
Nobody is quite sure if some comic authors own the rights or if GW does.
This lead to GW ceasing any mention of the name "Malal" in the late 80's and then retconning him entirely by replacing him with two new gods in Warhammer Fantasy and another in 40K going by the name "Malice".

Sigh. Well unfortunately he isn't the first victim in the war for copyrights. Let's hope something changes in the future even though I don't see it happening.
>>
>>4706955
The image anon posted was drawn by Tony Ackland, who was hired by GW to make daemons of some fucker called Malign, who was gonna be like reasonable!Khorne. /tg/ took his designs and adapted them for Malal as he was traditionally.

Hey, atleast it gave us the joke that "the greatest trick Malal pulled is convincing everyone he doesn't exist"
Also we really are malal's champion aren't we? Fighting against the chaos gods, agaibst tyranny, sowing terror in their hearts, etc.
>>
>>4706974
I mean, "Malice" is essentially just Malal is everything but name (and even that's pretty similar)
Frankly speaking, it's still annoying, but very much tolerable.
I just like having a chaos god to worship who isn't disgusting, incomprehensible, constantly furious, or just plain perverted.
>>
>>4706978
Oh thanks for the link. Yes really sad that he stopped appearing in the lore.
>>
>>4706978
> When Malal gets involved, the Great Game turns from Risk to Call of Cthulhu with Old Man Henderson as the head cultist.
>>
>>4706981
Besides the sowing terror in their hearts part, I think there are other characters or organizations in warhammer that do the other stuff you mentioned.
>>4706983
You know you made me think of something. Since Slaanesh is all about going more and more excessive, could it be that he does something like what it was said the Ilwrathi from star control did and become normal?
>>
I remember /tg/ made a Daemon Prince generator (which I can't find so I believe it wasn't saved) where the 5th and last DP was one of Malal

They rolled stupidly high for power that the fluffed it as Malal ceding a ton of it's power to the DP so it could kick Chaos ass

Others included a Techpriest turned DP from a Pleasure World, A Khornate that acted as an arms dealer/rabble rouser to get people killed in conflicts, a Purple Weird Boy and I can't remember the Nurgle one
>>
>>4706983
Malal is very much evil and insane.
His is terror, and pure anarchy, his goal is self-destruction, his follower willing to kill eachother as much as their enemies, in a way, he is true chaos, even more than chaos undivided.
Although I wonder if in this quest he will become a good guy, since we basically are making the closest thing to his workshippers that he ever had, and given the nature of the warp, that could change him to become a deity of freedom and self-reliance.

In a unreleted note, the fact that Lieren started fighting against slanesh followers kinda mirrors buddha fighting against Mara, a being of lust and temptation. I think it's neat.
>>
>>4706924
That looks really nice my dude.
>>
>>4706987
My goal for this quest is to get Lieren to register on the Henderson Scale of Plot Derailment. Getting Angron into gardening I think would be a good start.

Yeah but it's all palatable and not flanderized nearly to the same extent as the other Chaos gods.

I am going to probably write in Magnus having a cat in Eleventh Primarch quest now dang it. It makes sense since the thousand sons are egyptian themed and they loved cats

>The Prosperan Sphynx
>Descendants of the cats brought along the first colonists who would settle prospero millennia ago
>Close proximity to their Psyker owners for so long has caused the cats to develop their own Psyker powers, minimal as they may be
>Biomancy and Telepathy are the most common Disciplines exhibited by this breed, though others have been noted
>The most famous example is Mittens, the Sphynx of Magnus the Red, Primarch of the XVth Legion
>Much like its owner, Mittens has shown aptitude in all Psyker Disciplines in strength and mastery ahead of any of the Red Giant's Astartes Progeny
>As one would expect, the VIth Legion do not like this breed of feline

God that was such a great green. Anyone else read Old Man Henderson? I think there was a sequel green somewhere where he gets reincarnated or something after killing a god so to speak.

>>4707003
Consider the fact he hasn't been "born" yet, I like to think theres a chance he could take the evolution route of freedom instead of malice. Shit would be cool to have a not absolutely terrible "chaos" god on the playing field.
>>
>>4707281
I think Malice might actually be the worst. While the other gods personify some positive things like hope, joy, life, etc, Malal is made purely of Chaos attacking itself out of spite. When a bloodletter kills a daemonette, when Tzeentch cultists burn one of Nurgle’s gardens, Malal gets all of that. He’s smaller than the other gods because his “food” is so specific, but he’s also purer for the exact same reason. This god is 200% spite.

How do y'all think we stack in the primarch ladders in the fields of personal combat, command and likeability?

Calling the vote now.

The Guards are inured to the sound of screaming, mask your presence with the scream of the patrols you've disabled:8
Infiltrate via the weakness presented by the needless renovations: 5
Free Prisoners:2
Simply kick down the door and act as a distraction:1
Cement Small Chen's Legacy by using it to begin a one man Siege/ assault:2

So, Lieren will infiltrate through the chink in the foxes' defenses and begin to render the fortress defenseless by disabling the guard force, masking his presences with the screams that come naturally when something is assaulted by an angry primarch

utilizing two of the weaknesses Cao Yunru described to him.

The Celestial Incarnation Palace, a den of wickedness, home of foulness, well of hedonism, spring of unbridled excess and greet. The blackened heart of the Yan people, birthplace of Tyranny and dwelling of hellish beings both material and spiritual. Held by every dynasty who has once held the heavenly mandate of the eight courts, it stands as a towering monument to the moral decay and nihilistic gospel that has so degraded and befouled the kingdom you call home. Merely viewing its overtly extravagant construction and gaudy decoration from beneath the peak it languishes upon like corpulent form of its gluttonous rule, sickens and enrages you. A fever of the mind, a malady upon the soul. It is comprised of six separate palaces, surrounded by a six layered wall, and all built from a white marble brick, interspaced with pieces of all the colors of jade in sizes you have never before seen, held together by a mortar of gold and an unnerving reddish clay that is the same hue as raw flesh.

The flowering orchards and pure untainted streams fed by numerous waterfalls that pour from the sides of the palaces wall, are filled with guards and trained killers. Of all the life within these carefully cultivated and utterly manmade forests, they are only outnumbered by the wild foxes that dwell within. Corpses of dissidents, of criminals and those who dared to believe in something beyond mindless indulgence, stand where they died lashed to towering trees that bare fruits alien and unknown to your eyes. Red hued leaves dance upon bone white branches, roots visibly shift beneath the silver grasses. Statues of men and women in little or no dress are scattered beneath the trees as a silent, unmoving legion.

A canopy formed of fine silk ribbons weighed down by all manner of gems and crystals, hang in the treetops, casting the king's orchards in a constant state of twilight. The air is heavy with the stench of spoiled fruit, acrid sweat, rotting meat and freshly spilt blood, and the pungent aroma of bile and regurgitated wine.

The perfect hunting ground for a panther. The guards are blind beneath the fog and blanket of shadows created from the drooping branches and the silks that hold them aloft tied together. And while you may not be a panther, you are in many ways the kindred of the noble and deadly creatures. A hunter of the fogs, a masterful predator who stands at the peak of the food chain, a near unmatched slayer of men and beasts. And of course, much like the panther's themselves, you posses a killer's instinct.

Though the orchard's gloom is pinpricked by the light of lanterns, you move as the wind, unseen and heard. The Yan Tyrants know their doom is swiftly approaching, and despite their nihilistic beliefs have surrounded themselves with a guard force that could rival an army. All so they could indulge and feast upon worldly delights and unnatural desires undisturbed until the very moment of their deaths.

>>
>>4707385

But when matched against yourself and the sheer depth of your prowess, skill and inhuman ability such precautions are ineffective and become as paltry a defense as walls constructed of fog alone.

Thusly, you move beneath the trees without hesitation or pause, practically marching directly to the center of the Yan's rule unimpeded. Every guard force you encounter, is unable to provide any meaningful resistance nor are able to properly defend themselves. From the fog and gloom you emerge, like the ogre they name you, like the vengeful spirit of all those executed and tortured within these woods.

Striking without remorse, bones splinter and flesh bruises beneath your assault. There is no reason to be subtle in your approach, the servants of the tyrants have grown inured to the chorus of pain that constantly resounds within the halls of their master's palace. Their brothers never investigate the source of their shrieks of pain or cries of agony, their screams for help strangely acting as a means to conceal your presence within the orchard.

Leaving behind piles of broken bodies, men with legs snapped like twigs, arms twisted like ribbons of silk and nerves screaming so loudly it renders the body unresponsive, you continue your uninterrupted march towards the Celestial Incarnation Palace. The sight of old bones, decaying cadavers and women who had still lived at morning, further strengthens your conviction and fuels the wrath and disgust that the Yan and their fortress already inspire within you.

None who wander the woods beneath and the roads that lead to the palace can match your rapidity, strength and martial talents. So they all fall before you, like autumn leaves. You do not need to resort to using your Chendao to dispatch them, or even utilizing a second hand. With your legs and uncovered arm alone, you shatter the defenses surrounding the devil's castle and reach its first wall undetected and unwounded.

A curious fox, watches the tail that squirms upon your belt, struggling to free itself and return to the rest of its body. The glint of the stolen treasure of the Yan's shines into the poor creatures eye, and sends it fleeing into the underbrush. Adjusting what remains of your armor, so it sits more comfortably upon your breast, you approach the wall, that has been partially torn down and rebuilt.

Two statues cast in solid gold stand upon the road that leads to the palace from the orchard as unliving sentinels. Two Golden women with foxish faces sneer down towards you, their eyes closed and expression mirthful. In the gaudy decorations' hands, sit pitchers turn over as if they were being poured. Judging by the dried streams running beneath them, they are intended to spit forth water in an needless show of wealth.

Wooden scaffolding lines the half constructed wall they stand before, forever mocking all who walk beneath them.

>>4707387

You feel the urge to tear down these idols and rend the wall asunder, but the sounds of breaking metal and shattering stone would not be ignored as the screams and wails of your prior victims were.

So burying the whimsical desire for destruction of such wasteful displays of wealth, you begin to scale the scaffolding with the utmost ease careful not to make a sound or cause the wood to creak beneath your weight. Pulling yourself up upon the ledge hanging from the outmost wall, you slither like a shadow to its top.

Glancing around, searching for patrols of guards or lost drunkards who have escaped the grasp of the endless festival within the palace's grounds, you see neither of either and continue forward.

A sudden flash of light and movement stops you instantaneously. Hiding within the shadows cast by an dangerously tall watchtower, you witness two guards making their way across the desolate garden.

Their presences stirs something that lays beneath a white barked tree, upon a bed of thorns and cutting grasses. Glass shimmers in fire light, as you realize what is moving.

A young woman, dressed in the tattered remains of a weather worn robe, woven of wool and reed fibers. Brutalized, maimed, tortured and abuse, the girl barely groan raises her head as the light falls upon her single functioning eye. The other sits within her skull, pulped by the lash of a whip judging by the wound that mars her once handsome features. Her jaw hangs broken, one both of her hands have been turned to stumps and snapped at the wrists, brands of burnt skin adorning the raw flesh that had been stripped and skinned away. There are bites taken from the meat of her arms, inflicted by human teeth. Strips of flesh and skin have been peeled from her bare thighs and legs. Most of her exposed skin that remains in is bruised purple and maroon. A strange symbol has been carved by a knife upon her forehead.

The state of this women alone is enough to fill you with an anger that burns so brightly it would be all but blinding, but what happens next cause you to unleash that same fury that would otherwise be restrained and locked away in your heart.

Despite having her tongue removed by prongs, this poor tormented souls sits herself by her own power, still laying upon a bed of broken glass and thorns stained with her blood and unspeakable fluids, and begins to speak. Begins to chant. Within her soul, resolve, passion, courage and determination mingle and flow together despite the pain and fear burning within her mind. They have stolen her voice, but not silenced it.

The words leave her cut apart lips slurred and mumbled, for she can not speak above a defiant whisper. Dragging her crippled legs together, she sits as if in prayer, and struggles to move her
