Last time, classes ended and you went to Matilda’s dojo to aid the mysterious San Wich, an entity that has full control of a willing host. Through insistence more than anything else, you managed to convince the host to be open to being helped, nevertheless she cannot stay in control for too long without being in pain for unknown reasons. So you need to find a way to soothe her pain and be careful with her!

After the hug between Scarlet and Ms. Wich, and her later reminder of her inability to stay in control for long. You have no option but to move on, you made a promise that you’re going to stop bothering her after a day, but you don’t know if Ms. Wich has that promise in mind anymore. Regardless, you shouldn’t break it!

You convinced her to get help, told her about yourselves to effectively build some trust – now, what should the next step be?

“What kind of pain is the one that you experience?” Matilda is keen to know if there is anything she can do to help.

“It all hurts, every single fiber of my body hurts when my memories come back to me…” Ms. Wich looks down. She’s drinking the cold tea San made.

“That’s mostly unusual, but not unheard of.” Matilda thinks it’s odd.

“Thank you for your concern.” Ms. Wich wryly smiles.

“I think we should find a way to make Ms. Wich withstand the pain, right?” Scarlet proposes. Easier said than done, but you’re not going to complain to her after what she did minutes ago.

What do you do?

>Dive deep into the painful memories. Perhaps accepting those events will help Ms. Wich!
>Entertaining her would be a good idea. If everything that you have in your mind is suffering, you forget there are more things you can do! Like not suffering!
>Maybe you need to give her something to do, like a job or something. It will give her something to look forward to!

Votes:

Votes are counted until 25 minutes have passed. This rule doesn't apply to the last reply of the day.
Votes that require a dice roll are counted until 15 minutes have passed, so we can speed up the process. Rolls are counted until 10 minutes have passed, so be prepared!

(NEW) Dice Mechanic:

We always roll 1d100s!
Since most people weren’t happy with the system of averaging top four rolls, we’re using best of 2/3/4 depending on the attribute a prompt requires. If Johnny is a genius and it’s a Knowledge based roll, he gets more rolls (Max. 7)! If he sucks, he gets less dice (Min. 2)!

When asked for rolls, I will specify how many you’re going to get. Rolling begins after it’s asked.

Rolling 100 is a critical and ignores all other rolls! In the same vein, rolling 1 means a critical failure (only for Very Hard rolls and above).

The difficulty of the roll is tied with the effectiveness of the action. In other words, the harder the option the better the result!

Don’t forget that at the end of the day, this is a story-driven quest! What the prompts are describing is more important than the difficulty of the rolls, for results in a fight.

Again, rolls are only counted when they are posted within ten minutes of being asked, so watch out!

“If that’s your idea, we need to learn about Ms. Wich’s past. Maybe accepting those events will help her.” You propose to the girls. It’s pointless to go around the issue.

“I get it. But isn’t that a lil’ bit much for her right now?” Scarlet is unsure if this is a good idea.

“We have 24 hours and we have to make the best out of them.” Matilda remembers the promise as well. “We have to address the glaring issue. Now Ms. Wich, we must—”

Matilda stops talking the moment you all realize Ms. Wich went back to sleep yet again like a coward! Why does she think she can get away from this?!

“Ms. Wich, Could you not?” Matilda sounds a little frustrated. “If you don’t wish for us to pry on your private matters, you have to say it.”

“………..” Ms. Wich is pretending to be asleep. “You’re going to do it anyway, correct?”

“Yes.” Matilda has no chill.

“Then I wish to stay like this.” Ms. Wich pulls out a blanket from absolutely nowhere! You feel like she has regressed from moments ago.

“Ms. Wich, you’re just joking around, right?” Scarlet notices that Ms. Wich has a sense of humor. Maybe a sign that she’s getting better.

“Not wholeheartedly.” Ms. Wich is not really comfortable with this. “But mostly yes.” She sits back.

“You’re not willing to do it?” Scarlet wants the confirmation all of you want.

“I’m not sure if I can do it.” Ms. Wich isn’t confident.

“We will be here for you, don’t forget it!” Scarlet tries to pump her up.

“We’ll take it as slowly as you need.” You reassure.

“………..” Ms. Wich has a pained expression already. Her flame starts to flicker in a familiar way to what you’ve seen from stressed people. “…I’ll do it.”

“We need to be careful here, partner.” Philonune makes you know something is bugging him. Which is never a good sign.

“Feel free to ask any question…” Ms. Wich wryly smiles.

What do you want to ask?

“Are you sure we can?” You need to make sure she’s not going to be in too much pain.

“There… is no other way out, is there?” Ms. Wich smiles.

“How did you end up like this?” You ask the most important question.

“Well, I… They didn’t want me around anymore, I-I was looney……..” Ms. Wich grabs her forehead and closes her eyes. “But it goes farther back… It all started with… when they… when that man… When… When…” Ms. Wich seems in great pain.

“Easy there.” Scarlet pats Ms. Wich’s back to calm her down.

“…They didn’t know what to do with me, they couldn’t fix me. I wasn’t important to them, so they bought me a cheap place to die in, for me to rot.” Ms. Wich is very cryptic despite being more articulate.

“Who are they?” Matilda wants a clarification.

“N-No, I-I can’t…” Ms. Wich shakes her head.

“We’ll do nothing with this information yet. Please trust us.” Matilda asks politely.

“I… they are…” Ms. Wich closes her eyes again and clutches her head. “That other family… They work for that man, for his brother… He’s the important one… Maximum…” Ms. Wich looks more in pain than ever! Scarlet’s back pats are worthless! “Aaaah… It hurts…”

Ms. Wich is struggling greatly…

What do you do?

>“Please, stay with us, start over and remember. Take your time and breathe.” You’re close to getting some information.
>“What’s your favorite food? Quick.” Make her thoughts drift elsewhere.

“Calm down… It’s going to be fine.” Scarlet tries to give Ms. Wich more comfort.

“Please, stay with us, start over and remember. Take your time and breathe.” You get closer to pat her back as well and encourage to continue.

“Huh… oh-uh…” Ms. Wich is trying to calm down. She needs to find a tempo to breathe in and breathe out. “I-I can’t do this… It hurts too much when I try to remember…”

You can see her flame getting bigger and extremely tiny, you think she’s trying to get San back into control. You feel like you need to stop her.

“Do you want to drink some of your tea?” Matilda offers as she doesn’t see another way to help. Ms. Wich just shakes her head and continues clutching her head.

“I’m… Sorry…” Ms. Wich goes unconscious, then immediately, you see her robotically straighten up. “Apologies, but I couldn’t continue to see the host in this state.” It’s back to San. Gosh darn it… “If continued stress goes on for long, the Body is going to gain more wrinkles.”

What do you do?

>“Bring her back, San. We’re close to making progress and don’t do that again until we say so, please!” You need Ms. Wich back!

“It’s fine, let her rest for a bit.” You don’t think stressing her out is going to be any good. You want to believe Ms. Wich wants to get better, so you’ll ignore the promise for now. “We have you here, so might as well talk with you for a bit.” You’ll give Ms. Wich some time to rest.

“Apologies once again, friends.” San feels bad for taking the spot.

“Don’t feel bad, you’re just like us, trusting your gut and hoping for the best.” You have no qualms against San doing what he feels is right.

“I assume you know everything that happened, right?” Since Matilda knows San the best, she appears to be more talkative now.

“Yes.” San nods as she starts drinking her cold tea.

“How is your body feeling? Tensed up?”

“Yes. I believe The Body will have more constipation issues. I require more tea.” San is giving too much information.

“Ew…” Scarlet didn’t want to know.

“Ew?” San doesn’t get the reaction.

“You know… like that stuff is yuck.” Scarlet explains poorly.

“I don’t understand.” San tilts her head.

“She’s poorly expressing her disgust. Her vocabulary needs work.” Matilda makes it clear.

“H-Hey!” Scarlet didn’t like that.

“Do not fret, with proper education you can reach my level of mastery soon, Ms. Yuck.” San smiles at a disgruntled Scarlet.

“Don’t call me Ms. Yuck! I-I told you my name before, and you totally saw my introduction too!” Scarlet pouts.

“…” San ignores Scarlet for no reason.

“So which one do you prefer, Bubbles or Ms. Yuck?” You nudge Scarlet for an answer. She just glares at you.

“Bubbles?” Matilda wonders about that.

“Nothing! This big dork said nothing!” Scarlet retaliates. “Johnny, stop telling everyone about it!”

“You’re right, it’s your secret codename after all.” You adjust your glasses.

“I do have a question to make to you two, but perhaps I should leave it for later. I need you to gather as much information as you can from San.” Matilda wants you to use this opportunity to the fullest.

What do you do?

>“What do you want to ask?” You’re curious about Matilda’s question.
>“So, San, you have no memories, right? Anything you can recall?” Ask more about San.
>“Tell us how you and the body felt while Ms. Wich was in control please.” You need more information to help her.

(My place had power issues today, we’ll do one post but continue tomorrow full force!)

“Ms. Wich mentioned a name. ‘Maximum.’ A name like that won’t be too common. It won’t help us keep Ms. Wich out and avoiding her getting caught rule-breaking, but this could be the break we need to dig deeper into who she really is.” You put the topic on the table for everyone to discuss. Maybe with San’s input you can learn a little bit more.

“Too common? I never heard of someone named that before.” Scarlet shakes her head. Weird thing to say when this city is full of weird ass names like hers.

“I’d like to remind you that the nurse at the clinic is named ‘Katastrophic’.” Matilda brings your point home.

“Lovely name if I might add.” You joke. “Anyway, San, do you know anything about this Maximum person?”

“I’m afraid not.” San immediately shuts down the idea.

“It couldn’t be that simple.” Matilda shrugs.

“Yeah…” Another dead end.

“Y’know, I just searched the name online and got this!” Scarlet shows her phone to everyone. She just searched ‘Prancijan Maximum’, and found a pic of a creepy looking dude named ‘Maximum Price’. It says he’s a Prancijanian senator. “Maybe this is our guy!”

“…What kind of people vote for this type of evil looking dude?” Appearances are not that deceiving! He’s clearly evil!

“It doesn’t matter, I said it can’t be that simple.” An annoyed Matilda repeats herself.

“The Body dislikes and feels threatened by this image.” San informs you all, meaning this is an actual clue!

“You were saying?” Scarlet looks all smug now.

“I-I admit my mistake, but we need to confirm it first if we want to do anything with this information.” Matilda acknowledges her mistake.

“Was this the dude in the picture in Ms. Wich’s apartment?” You ask San.

“No.” San keeps her answer simple.

“What does it say about him anyway?” You wonder.

“It says he’s an active Senator from the region of Baochang and that’s it… Just one line in the whole article.” Scarlet finds it odd.

“Nothing else? That’s impossible.” Matilda pulls out her phone to search for more information. “I found him on the Senate web page. He’s an elected member from the Southeast District of Baochang, 46 years old. That’s all I can find. I would find the lack of information odd, but nobody cares about our politicians.”

“He doesn’t even have any social media…” Scarlet tries to find anything about this Maximum guy.

“I feel like this man is relevant.” You’re onto something.

“If you give me some time, I’ll find information on him.” Matilda is ready to work.

“Nah, it’s good. I think I have the right person for the job.” You pull out your phone. It’s time to call T_T Neko for help! She’s a super informant with her cat network. You should have her number, right? Yeah, you have it!

“Very well.” Matilda doesn’t mind not doing anything. How lazy.

“Uhm, who are you calling?” Scarlet wants to know the scoop.

“T_T Neko.” You nonchalantly respond.

“Good luck with that.” Matilda doesn’t sound impressed.

“I’ll be outside so you can keep talking to San…” You step out of the room.

“Have fun!” Scarlet maintains her positivity.

“Thank you, friend.” For some odd reason, San feels the need to thank you.

Inadvertently, by stepping out of the room, you pushed someone who was leaning against the door, eavesdropping you for who knows how long. It’s Oliver, the weirdo. He falls down on his ass, but quickly jumps back on his feet in a smooth maneuver – a nice save, indeed.

“H-Host of the Lightsbane, we meet again.” Oliver tries to sound cool.

“Were you spying on us…?” You’re a little bothered by this, but it isn’t the first time he’s done something like this.

“Not exactly! It wasn’t my intention to pry, I was merely trying to gauge for the perfect moment to make my entrance!” Oliver simultaneously sounds nervous and confident about what he’s saying.

“I told you not to bother Ms. Wich, Oliver. Why are you here?” Matilda reprimands her apprentice.

“L-Like I said, it wasn’t my intention to pry!” Oliver repeats himself. “I-I only wanted to inform you that the purchase has been made.”

“Good. But I told you to inform me by phone.” Matilda shakes her head. “Did something happen to you? Did someone hurt you?”

“Uhm, who is this guy?” Scarlet is confused. You explained to her who Oliver is, but you can’t blame her for forgetting…

“It’s the other human that lives here. He’s in a similar situation to me.” San explains. But she doesn’t know that they are not, and it’s Oliver being weird.

“No, he’s not.” Matilda continues to shake her head.

“I’ll leave the introductions to you, Mat.” You walk far away from the noise so you can make the call in peace.

You go to what one might call the living room near the entrance and phone T_T Neko’s personal number for the first time. You explain that it’s a business call though and you require her services.

Nggh…” T_T Neko is complaining already. She let you talk this whole time without giving much input.

“What’s wrong? Can’t do it?” You’re preparing for disappointment.

“I-I had a weird dream about you…” Judging by Neko’s tone, she probably didn’t listen to a word you just said.

“Huh? What kind of dream?” You imagine it’s maybe something related to SoL.

“T-T-That’s a personal question, prick! D-Do you really think you’re my husband or something?! We’re not that close and we will never be! You hear me?!” Neko shrieks.

“What?” You have no idea what she’s talking about. The only wife you ever had was Carol and that didn’t end up well.

“I don’t want to talk about it!” T_T Neko is having a meltdown.

“Then why did you bring it up?” You’re more confused than before. “Anyway, can you please help me out?”

“I don’t work for free.” T_T Neko is willing to do it for a price. “I demand good payment.”

How do you respond?

“Susie, do I have to remind you what happened last time between us? You owe me one.” You’ll have to teach this kitty to behave.

“Oh yes, how could I forget? Thanks to me, you put your filthy hands on that innocent teacher’s lustful body! Nina’s plump bottom was at the mercy of your hands and you didn’t contain yourself one bit! I opened the forbidden door for both of you! The morally reprehensible relationship between a student and a teacher! Truly a moment you’ll never forget!” Neko is acting like the pervert she really is. “And between us, I think you triggered something in Nina, she just can’t stop thinking about it, her mind is corrupted by your actions! She’s craving for more! I wouldn’t be surprised if she tried to follow this degeneracy up with you once again!” She’s way too excited!

“Susie, calm down.” You don’t want to hear it anymore.

“S-Stop calling me Susie! W-W-We’re not that close, I told you!” T_T Neko goes back to her normal state. Which isn't normal at all.

“You misunderstood what happened, the only thing you accomplished was humiliating Nina for no good reason. Besides, I was talking about the fact that you tried to put the blame on me for something I didn’t do and tried to kick me out.” You remind her what your original point was.

“I-I made the quintessential perverted young man’s dream come true for you, Nina is basically all yours! She only has you in her mind! I owe you nothing! Nothing! It balances out!” Neko feels no guilt.

“That’s not what happened at all. Nina is not mine or anything like that, you only demean her – and if we didn’t talk it out, you would’ve made things incredibly awkward between us. So stop saying nonsense and take responsibility for your actions.” You scold Neko for obvious reasons.

“Ngh… I can tell you’re lying, you both enjoyed it even if you aren’t honest… I don’t know who you’re trying to trick, prick!” The hypocrite Neko sounds honest but less confrontational. “You WILL thank me later. But you’re right, what I made you do is kind of questionable, and I don’t want animosity between us. So I’ll help you out.”

“Thank you, I guess.” You aren’t sure if this is a good thing anymore.

“I still want to be compensated. A job is a job. You’ll owe me just a little favor, how does that sound?” Neko wants to bargain.

There is no good reason to accept.

How do you respond?

>“Susie, just tell me what I want to know or I’ll tell Nina you’re misbehaving again.” Threaten.
>“Fine, but just a minor thing and nothing perverted or weird.” You accept.

“Fine, but just a minor thing and nothing perverted or weird.” You accept her demands on your terms as you squint for nobody to see. “And you can’t have the sweater back.”

“Tch, why would I ask for something like that? I’m not like you, I’m not a pervert.” Neko lives in denial, it gives you a bad feeling. “I have the perfect plan for you, I know you won’t mind it one bit – I’ll tell you later.”

“Why not tell me now?” You ask instantly.

“B-Be patient! T-T-The world doesn’t revolve around you.” Neko was taken by surprise. “Just be prepared, I’ll call anytime! Anytime!”

“I can be busy, y’know?”

“R-Right, I’ll keep that in mind… You said it has to be a minor thing.” Neko relents rather easily at this point. Probably because she got what she wanted. “I’ll pull up the archives, what do you want to know?”

“I told you before, I need to know everything that you can from a guy called ‘Maximum Price’.” You were right, she didn’t listen to you before…

“Huh, you too?” Neko is a little surprised now that she paid attention. He’s a politician, so maybe another one of her clients want to know about him. “The senator, right?”

“The one and only.” You nod despite Neko being unable to see it.

“Roger that…” Neko starts reading out loud the information about the possible source of Ms. Wich’s problems: Maximum Price.

—Maximum Price

46 Years Old. Senator and businessman. Born in the region of Baochang. He’s the head of the Price Family and the middle child of the Price Brothers, one of the families that are part of The Five Heavenly Pillars: The group of the 5 wealthiest families in the country who backed the current President’s coup decades ago. The Prices have a lot of companies under their wing, but they keep all ties anonymous.

His father is Gamadiel Price and his mother is unknown. He has two brothers, the oldest is named Gamadiel Jr. and the youngest is Aleister. There is a considerable age gap between the two eldest and the youngest.

Lawyer and Historian by trade, he had to study the former for his father to let him do the latter. Still, he ended up practicing the law as a judge until his political career opened up early in his life. To this day, just a marginal amount of people know him since there are too many members in the senate, and he doesn’t use this platform to speak often. Despite that, he has a perfect track record in the senate, one of the few. He’s also one of the most seasoned members of the senate, and has never voted against the interest of “the people”.

Despite being relatively young at the time, he was the one who convinced his father to join the now-president’s coup against the president’s father. Many have said that all the success of the Price Family was thanks to him for these kinds of decisions. Reasons why it’s believed his father left him in charge of the whole Price Empire before his passing, instead of his older brother Gamadiel Jr., who years later tragically passed away for unknown reasons.

Legally speaking, Maximum Price is not allowed to directly control the companies thanks to his political career, but it’s believed the Saionji Family is the one administering them. There is no concrete evidence of this though.

He’s incredibly secretive about his personal life, and nobody is really sure where he lives, if he even lives in one place. All this information came from different members of his entourage.

It is known he’s a fan of Strawberry Juice, and severely dislikes violence and boxing.

“…That’s all we have found so far. We’re supposed to be keeping an eye on this guy and his little brother.” Neko finishes her long-winded explanation. “Any questions?”

This whole conversation reminded you of what Aurora told you a couple of days ago from Howie’s information dump! You already knew who Maximum Price is, he’s part of those 5 wealthy families with Ka-Shing! How did you forget this important detail?! To be fair, you saw his face once and you don’t have that great of a visual memory. You still confuse Howie with Toaster after all. Anyway…

….Who the hell is Ms. Wich to be involved with this guy?!

How do you respond?

>“Tell me everything you know about the Five Heavenly Pillars, please.” The rabbit hole deepens.
>“Tell me more about his family.” You need to know as much as you can.
>“Who’s the person who asked you about this guy?” You want to know who else is involved.
>“Thanks, Susie. Very cool.” Oh god, what are you going to do with this information?

“Not questions exactly, but tell me more about this family.” You cordially ask Neko in the most sensible non-SoL related conversation you have ever had with her.

“You’re really taking the world by storm, aren’t you? I imagine they’re next in your list.” Did Neko throw you a compliment? “Let’s see…”

T_T Neko starts reading her other files…

—Aleister Price

18 Years old. Highschool Student. Born in the region of Baochang. The youngest of the Price Brothers.

Aleister was raised in the capital Pokyo Lokyo for most of his life – he attends The Golden Peak Academy, the most prestigious private school in the country. Known troublemaker and loves to get into gang fights, nicknamed the Man-Made Tempest for his ability to absolutely annihilate large groups of delinquents all by himself. Despite all that, he never formally formed part of his school gang, as they were considered a bunch of weaklings. It is said the only person who ever beat him was a kid named Blake Wilkinson. None of these misconducts appeared in any official school documentation or police files until very recently, like someone wants to get rid of him.

He’s known to hang out with Vender Duss and his childhood friend Ichie Saionji. Some say he has a crush on one of the school’s model students…

Aleister is a fan of overseas superhero comics and MMA; he dislikes Garlic, Ducks, Criminals, Flowers and Little Convenience Stores.

Oh god, why is Blake still showing up after all this time…? Can those bad memories just be left alone? Anyway, you remember him and the other two that were mentioned being linked in Aurora’s intel. Wait, if this guy has a crush on one of his school’s model students, and Nariko was the model student in Golden Peak, does that mean...?

Nah, it must be someone else! Nariko is very cute, but she doesn’t like to stand out at all.

Either way, this Aleister kid sounds like a total delinquent loser like Henry, Trent and Gwen, and those barely matter in this war.

“That’s all we know about the little brother. We were supposed to do more exhaustive research on him, but like I said, we’re working on it.” T_T Neko explains. “Now next, the bigger brother…”

—Gamadiel Jr. Price

48 Years Old. He was a commercial flight pilot. Born in the region of Baochang. The eldest of the Price Brothers. Married to Wichapi Bruun, their only son was named Brutus. He and his son died under unknown circumstances, perhaps this information is kept secret by Maximum’s efforts to keep his personal life private.

He never showed much aspiration to go up the political ladder or the world of enterprises, despite being touted as a very charismatic leader. He was known as a charitable and a loud man. It is believed he renounced his family's will to marry Wichapi, who was an orphan and part of an old and outdated social project known as the ‘Children of the Future’.

He used to be a Sumo wrestler. He was pretty good at it.

There is something familiar about her name…

“There isn’t much information about him, he was never relevant to anything the Five Heavenly Pillars ever did. And we were lucky to find this dirt on him.” Neko ends her explanation. “Anything else you want to know?”

How do you respond?

>“Is Wichapi a real name…?” It’s terrible! “Anyway, can you tell me more about her?”
>“Tell me about the Five Heavenly Pillars, please.” Since Neko seems interested in talking about them if bringing them up at the end there is any indication.
>“Do you have any pictures of these people you can send to me?” Imagery will help if your gut feeling is right.
>“Who’s the person who asked you about this family?” You want to know who else is involved.

“Do you have any pictures of these people you can send to me?” If your gut feeling is right, this will help immensely.

“Yeah, I’ll send them with a cat.” Neko is being helpful, but…

“Can’t you just send them online?” You don’t think it’s going to be much trouble.

“A-All of these apps are being tracked by our internet providers. Y-You cannot trust these people!” Neko shouts back.

“Unless we’re being spied on 24/7, I don’t think it’s going to be an issue. We’re not important people, y’know?” You don’t need to go the extra mile.

“Nggh… I guess you’re right. Not like it matters if you can track me down or not at this point.” A sensible Susie complies to your request.

“Thanks, Susie.” You smile.

“S-Stop using my real name, you freak! I have not allowed you the privileged!” Neko shouts. What’s freakish about using her name?

“Yeah, my bad, Neko.” You don’t like calling her by her nickname. You’ll never get used to pronouncing the ‘T_T’.

“Anything else?” T_T Neko wants to continue with her day.

“Is Wichapi a real name…?” You grab your vintage hair lock in confusion.

“Y-You think I misread the files?!” T_T Neko is all offended.

“Have you ever heard that name before?” You point out.

“So? Everyone in this gosh darn country has an unique name! Except for Robert, there are a lot of Roberts.” T_T Neko knows the oddness of this country inside-out. “See?! It’s… Oh… Her name is Wilma. Eh, it doesn’t matter.”

“You’re an informant, this stuff is important.” You grab your vintage lock of hair, all let down.

“Nggh… I-It’s because I’ve been overworked! With Nina gone back to her real job, I have to do everything around here.” T_T Neko complains about having to feed the cats again...

“Anyway, can you tell me more about her?”

“Let me see what I got…” Neko starts going through her files…

—Wilma Bruun

42 Years Old. Born in the region of Baochang, Xumenlo.

She was one of the victims of the Orphanage in the Blue Scandal, where a bunch of newborn children were stolen from hospitals around the country and were passed off as Children of the Future/Orphans to be fraudulently adopted by people overseas – selling the idea that they were adopting children in need. Those unfortunate to not be adopted lived in terrible conditions in the orphanage, were forced to work in workshops, and were routinely beaten up.

The Orphanage of the Blue Scandal was described to be a cult in everything but name, where the kids were prohibited to talk about what happens inside and were forced to do religious rites of some kind. All the kids were renamed to hold the last name ‘Bruun’, the same one as the owners of the establishment.

Thanks to the efforts of the local police, the human-trafficking ring was discovered and put down. The government at the time managed to suppress the news locally, but it spread quickly overseas. Dictator Lazarus Gordon Sr. was said to be furious at the news, indignant from the fact that his program was used this way, plus all the backlash they received internationally. Many countries decided to take their business out of the country for a while.

Gordon Sr. demanded all records and files of the incident to be destroyed, and personally reprimanded the police force for not being informed about this first before spreading this out. This made the main policeman responsible for busting it resign on the spot.

The kids were sent to different orphanages around the country, and if they wanted any type of compensation by the government, they had to keep the ‘Bruun’ name. It was Gordon Sr.’s form of retaliation to the kids for being involved in the massive humiliation he suffered. There were no efforts to find the kids’ parents, but over the years, many of them found their biological parents.

This wasn’t the only Children of the Future incident that was covered up, it is known that once the population at large knew about this and dozens of other incidents, it sparked the massive CotF protests around the country that ultimately brought down Gordon Sr.

As for Wilma herself, what Neko said before is all she knows. Her information is still private.

“…I have her address too. I’ll send it to you.” Neko ends her lecture.

“That’s a big history lesson you gave me there.” You’re not sure if you wanted to hear something this sad.

“Blame Nina for adding more stuff than necessary in these reports. The ones I made are pretty short and to the point.” Neko is proud of her work. You hear her drinking some water. “Anything else, Johnny?”

“Was Valdemar Bruun part of this debacle?” You make the connection based on names.

“I don’t know. How old is he? I don’t have his file on me. This happened 25 years ago, so maybe do the math?” Neko’s good teacher behavior comes to a halt. In your opinion, Valdemar doesn’t look old enough for that. Well, he kinda does, but that’s mainly because he doesn’t have eyebrows and that makes him look older. “Wilma Bruun’s name stands out because she was one of the few victims that gave her testimony to the press and the authorities. It’s in Nina’s book. I forget what it’s called…”

“I mean, Valdemar kept joining cults, so maybe?”

“And the last one he joined had a base in Xumenlo as well. Yeah, it’s likely.” Neko realizes. “He was one of the 3 founders of the cult, so with all that in mind, I have no doubts that he’s a member of the Orphanage of the Blue and other members must’ve been involved. You took care of the whole cult, so this isn’t important anymore, right?” You remember that information being in Howie’s files specifically. Maybe Neko knows way more than you give her credit for, and you already gave her a lot of credit.

“I guess so. I still feel there are some questions that haven’t been answered.” The weird office with the sex slaves. The old university. The birthplace of the cult… it’s all so weird. Wait, doesn’t Giorsal have Valdemar in a coma, maybe you could talk to him?

“Still, this Valdemar must’ve been like a baby boy during the scandal. So related or not, he didn’t do a thing back then.” T_T Neko assumes this is a non-issue.

“By the way, how did you know he was one of the cult’s founders?”

“It was an open secret amongst the higher-ups in the cult. It bounced around and nobody that could deny it, did.” T_T Neko explains. “I’m not going to keep explaining my methods to you, prick. My agents know what they are doing.”

“Yeah, I know they do.” And they are very fluffy and loyal too.

“With Nina here, I can contextualize and verify a lot of information that goes around. So, you can treat everything I say as the honest truth.” Neko is proud of her efforts.

“But I’m not a pervert and you keep saying it.” You frown.

The honest truth.” Neko ignores you.

Feels like this conversation has run its course. But there is more you can learn, right?

“There is something bugging me from before, I know very little about them and you mentioned them quite a lot. Can you tell me more about the Five Heavenly Pillars? I know they are the 5 wealthiest families and all that, but what more can you tell me?” You phrased that quite strangely, but you hope the question comes across well.

“It’s pretty late to warn you, but are you sure you want to know more about these psychos? Once you’re under their radar, there is no escape.” T_T Neko sounds all cocky all of the sudden.

“I inadvertently asked you about one, I’m already deep in this stuff.” You don’t know why she’s warning you now.

“HehehehEheHEHe… It’s good to know I’ll have you alongside me.” Susie is glad to have you tag along. “The Five Heavenly Pillars were part of the original group of businessmen that backed our now president’s coup against his own father. They bought over all the domestic enterprises the country had at the time, and amassed a stupid amount of wealth. But you know how the big boys play, the size of the group started to shrink as more and more of them were killed or made to disappear – the one remaining ended up buying the companies from the ones gone. They became the most powerful individuals in the whole country in no time...” Susie is really enjoying this information dump… “Their names are Maximum Price, Nigel Koroma, Beatrice von Riegel, Utami Ugolino and at last Elicarto Lloydington!”

“W-Wait, what?!” You knew it! Howie’s intel was wrong! He’s an idiot after all! Why did you trust something that slowpoke would say?! “Ka-Shing is not part of them?!” You need to verify.

“O-Of course not, why would he? He became a billionaire not too long ago and comes from a poor background…” Neko is surprised you even mentioned him.

“But aren’t they funding Ka-Shing’s secret project?” Whatever that is.

“W-What are you talking about? W-Why would Ka-Shing of all people need help funding something?” Neko is utterly dumbfounded by what you’re saying. The fact that she has a point makes you feel dumber and you’re level 4 knowledge…

“Oh god…” You facepalm. “What was his project anyway?”

“The stupid flame eating machine that ended exploding thanks to the freaking bug monster prick.” Neko reminds you of the Icioba incident.

“Oh crap, whoops…” You forgot you actually were involved in something important before dismantling the cult.

“He was funding Dorothy Villiers’ projects as well, but I wasn’t allowed to dig deeper while I was with them.” Neko points out as well.

“Oh right, I still have her computer…” You look at the damn thing every day, it’s not like you can’t forget about it.

“You know you can hand it over it to me, heh?” Neko sounds devilish right now.

“We’ll see.” You don’t have time to think about it. “So, Lloydington is one of them? I thought he was a random politician.”

“The Five Heavenly Pillars and Gordon Jr. are not on good terms anymore, and they are fundamentally against most of his policies, they go against their business. Obviously, any political opponent of Gordon would be backed by them, so why not a member itself?” Neko makes it sound obvious. “Due the circumstances of back then, Price, Koroma and von Riegel had to publicly back Gordon Jr.’s coup. The other families were able to keep their anonymity. Lloydington was among them, so it doesn’t come as a surprise you don’t know about his real ties.”

“I’m terrible with politics, so I thank you for keeping this simple.” You’re grateful. But this technically doesn’t speak well of Nina as a history teacher… “Just keep talking about those Five Heavenly Losers, please.”

“Host of the Lightsbane, did you happen to say the Five Heavenly Pillars?” It’s Oliver! What is he doing here?! Why is he eavesdropping you again?! He looks serious for some reason.

You called them losers though.
