/qst/ - Quests

You are Prince Rolant Gordeau of the central kingdom of Galvant. You are twelve years of age,

and you are very bored.

Being the youngest of two sons by a wide margin, and your father still relatively far from his death bed, it’s no secret that your princely abilities pretty much extend to free food and an honorary title, that and being essentially babysat for all hours of the day.

It’s oh so boring. You are endlessly intelligent, you’ve been able to read since you were five years of age, you know the ins and the outs of all the court politics and control functions. Yet, even when you do have something to add to any conversation, nobody will even listen to a child like you.

And then you read a particularly old text, dug up from a sealed archive within the palace. Detailing previously little-known history of Galvan’s previous royal lineage. A particular section on rights of royalty caught your attention:

“Regardless of age, the lords of Galvant are always obligated to ride to the aid of the less fortunate. To lead and you govern, in no matter how small a measure.”

In short, you could just control one of the smaller fiefs. That would be a true use of your intellect.

That certainly wouldn’t be boring.

And so, you convinced one of your father’s old knights, Ganimard, and the court mage, Lilian, to be advisors to you. Then, in the night, you set out for your destined journey...

You did your research, of course. These are troubling times, some provinces in the kingdom are worse off than others, and would be happy to accept any kind of emissary such as yourself. Where did you end up going?

>Ascot, a small province to the west. Bountiful plains, steppes, and a desert zone dot this land. Agriculture and trade are its claims to fame. Problems include bandit warlords in the area, a lack of forceful leadership, and recent downtrends in harvests.

>Mireforge, a province to the north. Made up of woodland and mountain towns. With a rich history of mining rare gems, its no wonder that dwarves have migrated here. Problems include occasional dragon raids, and a community-alleged conspiracy involving some of the nobles.

>Eldham, a province eastward. A cluster of ports and villages along the coast. They’re known for being one of the naval trade hubs of the whole continent. Even still, they aren’t immune to the troubling times, pirates, a band of notorious thieves, and even whispers of sea monsters plague the area.

Hello. This will be a mostly narrative based quest where we work to get good at being a lord, while also having to contend with various adversaries both within and outside of our province. That said, I hope you enjoy. Gonna try to have threads on a bi-weekly basis.

There's no challenge there. They're already pretty good. We should be trying to turn a lump of coal into diamond, not a diamond into a slightly shinier diamond.

gonna support the venture into the mines
>>
>>4718685
To be honest they all seem like they have the same amount of challenge with each seeming to have a thriving industry. But getting a port city with a thriving trade network will allow us to, depending on the era, urbanize quickly allowing us to collect fat capital and invest in scientists and engineers to try and kick start some sort of industrial revolution.
>>
>>4718696
The problem is that they already have an thriving hub. The biggest challenge there would be to get real influence, to take the trading power from already powerful merchants.

Going to a place that's less powerful allows us to build it *our* way.

I hope we'll get our own retinue of person guards, and at the very least a company's worth of knights loyal to our family.

Can we learn magic?

(Sorry I’m late! Pretty bad traffic.)

Mireforge interested you immediately. Being in the mountains, and much more remote than other provinces, they seem to be having a correlated amount of troubles thanks to the kingdom not taking much interest. After all, they’re governed by a sort of council. A group of representatives of sorts. Also, you’ve kinda always wanted to see a dwarf in person. Shortest compared to their peers, but tough and resourceful.

Kinda like... well, kinda like you.

As such, the terrain is rather rough. You have to on foot for portions of it, but eventually, Mireforge’s central hub comes into view. An amalgamation of metal and wood built directly into the mountains.

The grand hanging city of Lockinge.

“I still think we should’ve just risked taking an airship...” Lilian pouts. “That trip was exhausting, I almost can’t even appreciate the city’s image. Oh well...”

“They’re not exactly safe, a seasoned mage like you should know that...” Ganimard chides.

They don’t exactly see eye to eye, but they were probably the only people you could convince.

Lilian’s always been fond of you. Court mages are usually just kept around to tell the knights what areas to stab when some abomination of mana appears. She’s of the... experimental variety. Like you, she was bored. Convincing her was easy.

Ganimard, well, you’re not certain he IS convinced. He’s sworn to keep you safe, so he probably expects something to happen, in which case he can just bring you back to the palace and force you to denounce that old law book.

Looks like you’ll have to prove him wrong.

Either way, Ganimard’s age and Lilian’s magical skill should prove to be pretty ample for assisting you in whatever you might need. As for yourself, well, you’re rather gifted too...

>You picked up a blade at a young age. First it was a fun hobby, and then slashing up training dummies became a way to release pent up anger at all the neglect and boredom. Naturally, you’d like to believe you can fight well. (Swordsmanship)

>When you were 4 years of age, you accidentally levitated an entire table during one of your father’s lavish feasts. You were grounded for a month, but afterwards, you spent so much time alone figuring out how to levitate without it being an accident. (Magic)

>You wanted another window in your room to see the sunset. Your servants couldn’t fulfill such a request. So instead, you did it yourself. Granted, putting a large hole in a castle wall was a bad idea. So you spent time learning how to make it a proper glass window... (Engineering)

Threads stop bumping after 3 days from posting, but since this is QM-driven board, not a player-driven one, threads can stay up for an entire month at times. Usually the QM starts a new thread once the number of replies is enough to cause lag in scrolling (>1000 posts). Also remember to sort by 'Last Reply' in the catalog.

You’re initially laughed at by the guardsmen, who have trouble believing that you’re a prince of Galvant. Your official identification proves otherwise, and they lead you to Garsley Keep, where Mireforge’s Council resides.

It’s not as lavish as the palace, but you are not at all complaining. After all: function over form is what you’re into as an engineer. Garsley Keep is old, in the distant past, merely a fortress for an old war. After it was discovered how rich the mountain’s caves and chasms could be, it quickly became its own town, and then its own whole province.

With your credentials and that forgotten law, you’ll be scoring a seat on Mireforge’s Council. Because of how diverse the populace of the place is, representatives from various factions reside over the province via vote and debate.

“We’ll need to speak with the province’s lead overseer, Etien Priors. Lord Rolant, would you like us to accompany you to the meeting?” Ganimard asks.

“Huh? Why would I have to be there? I ain’t a diplomat...” Lilian protests.

Otome isekai, basically girls reincarnating into the MC of reverse Harem games. However, the most common subgenre of the subgenre itself is Villanous Otome Isekai, where the MC reincarnates into the Rival character instead. Usually wanting to evade death flags/ destruction ends.

And usually they're as dumb as a sack of bricks, sometimes they can be rutheless but usually they're big idiots. Cause of the early examples of the subgenre, namely Bakarina (not the actual title, but its what everyone calls it and the MC, actual title is My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!) and An Observation Record of my Fiancée - A Self-Proclaimed Villainess

Where the loveable reincarnated villainous are Incredibly stupid. The former got an anime, and is getting a second season, and I find them both adorable and funny.

Oh yeah, also, to clarify the vote, essentially we are voting for:

A: Whether or not we want to be introduced with our advisors, not much consequence here

B: Whether or not we have a silent protagonist. I couldn’t decide, as there’s pros and cons to writing both, so I thought why not leave it to you all.

You turn to them both and give a small smile. “You two are my advisors. It’s only natural that you would be a valuable part of the process. Just let me do most of the talking, I’m the one in charge after all.”

Ganimard takes a small bow. “As you wish, my liege, I have the utmost faith in your... Diplomatic skill.”

You roll your eyes.

“Whatever you say, Boss!” Lilian giggles. “But I’d better get my own space, that trip made me fall behind on research.”

Up a few flights of stairs, and down a hall, you come to a set of double doors, a placard reads:

“OFFICE OF ETIEN PRIORS, MIREFORGE OVERSEER.”

After a moment’s hesitation, you knock twice.

The door swings open.

“Yes, you’ve caught me at a perfect moment, I’m not busy but I wasn’t expecting anyone-“ It’s an older looking man, though, not as old as Ganimard it seems. His outfit tells you that you’re speaking to the right person. “Ah, Ser Ganimard... What business brings you to these parts?”

Ganimard looks at you, then back to Etien.

Etien’s eyes scan the space, and then look down.

You silently curse your young height...

“Hm? One of Kharnik’s... No, you’re no dwarf...” He seems to put two and two together, the royal armor your knight is wearing, the color of your hair... “I- I expected a little more warning! Someone should’ve told me royalty was coming to stay... It has been a good few years since King Fenrich sent an actual member of the royalty here...” He smiles, ecstatic, before returning to a puzzling expression. “But, forgive my asking, who are you...?”

You sigh, taking a breath. “I am Prince Rolant. I have arrived of my own accord, I wasn’t sent. My apologies for the sudden appearance...” You try to put an air of dignity into your voice, but on the inside, you’re a bit angered that he didn’t recognize you. Makes sense. It was your brother who got to make all the tours of the provinces before you were born.

“...The youngest prince. Tis a pleasure to finally meet you! My, it must be your first time in Mireforge, yes? Any time Erik arrived, the town would always become quite ablaze with activity...”

Erik, your brother. Of course he’d be pretty good pals with Etien. Of course everyone would love him. Of course he’d fail to mention your existence to this overseer.

“If you’re looking for a place to stay, the quartermaster’s office is just a little further down the hall, I’d love to chat over tea but the council’s weekly session is going underway in just-“

You raise a hand, interrupting him. “That’s what this is about, actually. I’m not here to sightsee or meet any citizens, at least, not yet. Er, may we sit in your office?”

He blinks. “Yes, yes you may my Prince...”

“And that’s why I’m here, to take some action of my own among your council.”

Etien squints at the words on the parchment detailing your ability to do such a thing. “I see... This was from a much older time, where these lands were lawless and leadership was needed... But does this truly apply here? We have a perfectly functioning council, and while you seem to hold some experience, it’s not as if you can start making demands...”

“I’d be willing to adhere to the rules of the council fully. As I understand, each member runs a function of their own?” You ask.

“Yes, yes. But I and the other councilmen take a very detailed approach to electing new members. It is arduous work, figuring out who is right for the job, among our folk have shown the capability to help make these decisions, who needs to be represented...” Etien frowns. “Besides which, at your age, and your status, it might be difficult to convince some of the councilmen that this isn’t anything more than a bid for power.”

Lilian wakes from her half-nap in her chair, “Well, that’s kinda because it is.” She says, before promptly shutting her eyes again.

“It’s not as if power is all the boy desires...” Ganimard steps in. “My liege simply desires to take any sort of action to make a difference. As opposed to wasting away until his age and status has matured. He wouldn’t be performing a takeover, merely learning and growing in a direction that suits him more than his brother’s role. I find it admirable... If a bit admittedly foolish. In any case, you can simply have him removed if he does a poor job, that’s allowed by the council, is it not?”

“I... Suppose so. Prince Rolant, let’s speak frankly.” Etien leads forward, meeting your gaze. “The Mireforge council does more than simply represent and debate issues. Each of our lead members takes an active role... Collaboration, conviction, and respect are most valued between us.”

You grin. “I’m willing to take direct action to help others if necessary, if I’m being honest, it’s all I’ve ever wanted to do.”

Etien takes a sigh. “Then, by decree of this Royal Oath, and the endorsement of the Overseer... You are hereby inducted into the Mireforge council. Do your best, and you may rise to even greater potential...”

“Thank you, I promise not to disappoint!” You shake his hand, and he gives an uneasy smile. You aren’t certain if he believes in your ability, but that’s to be expected.

“Well, congrats Boss!” Lilian throws an arm over your shoulder.

“I’m familiar with Ganimard, but, who is your other acquaintance?” Etien asks.

“She was a court mage, but she’s agreed to be my advisor when it comes to magical affairs.”

“If it has to explode, make sure it explodes safely...” She nods.

“I see, magic is not widely practiced around these parts, your work is cut out for you... As for you Ganimard, I know with your help, the prince is in very strong hands. Now, Prince Rolant, the councilmen meet once a week to debate and discuss various affairs, as well as plan future action. We also meet for emergency situations whenever needed. A meeting is actually happening today, in around a half-hour or so... That should be enough time to get settled. You may meet me at the lift when you’re ready to view your first session.” He pushes his glasses up, placing the Royal Oath into a file on his shelf. “Do you have any more questions for me...?”

“Do these meetings run on any kind of specific topic or agenda?” You ask.

“Generally, we focus on one major topic, decided by myself, and then each member is allowed time to speak on less centralized issues, to recruit for collaboration or such. For today, we must address the situation regarding the collapse of the bridge at Ozryn Pass... But, I’ll go into more detail when the session begins.”

You nod. A bridge collapse? Sounds pretty bad. But why does that require deliberation?

“Okay, that’s all I needed to know. Thank you, Overseer.”

“My pleasure, please, just call me Etien. The council is on a first name basis with eachother for the most part.”

———

After a brief meeting with the quartermaster, you, Lilian, and Ganimard are given separate living spaces. You can finally be alone with some of your thoughts.

You kinda can’t believe this worked. Etien seems nice, but it’s clear he’s only humoring you for now... You think and you think, a bridge collapse, that’s easy to fix, especially if you were granted resources to direct the construction yourself. But you know it can’t possibly be that simple, or else it wouldn’t be deliberated upon here.

There are still a good 20 minutes before the session...

It isn’t quite time to see the stars, but you figure you’ll be able to see the city at an amazing angle from the keep’s observatory. You walk to the lift that would take you up there, but as you arrive, a paper placard is upon the lift’s gate-out of order. A true shame, it seems. Looks like you’ll have to take the stairs...

After a staggering forty flights of stairs to the top of the observatory tower, you fumble the doors to the place open. You huff, nearly out of breath. The view is quite breathtaking. You can see the whole city on one end, and on the other, the mountainside and the various towns and such dotting the land.

What undercuts this beautiful view is the sound of whirring gears and steam.

The lift.

You turn toward the lift to see its gate open, and someone walk out. They’re dressed in an overtly flashy outfit that is unlike anything you’ve seen.

More importantly, they just used the lift, the lift that was broken.

They make a beeline toward your position, and lean against the barrier, taking an obnoxiously deep sigh.

“A grand view, is it not?”

“Indeed, but shouldn’t you show a little more care? That lift said it was broken...”

“Broken? But it brought me all the way up here from the council dormitories no problem! Surely I’d be stuck or dead if that weren’t the case?” He asks.

You squint. “A notice on the gate said it was out of order, the lifts of today are quite a marvel, but they’re still rather new technology, prone to mechanical malfunction. If it says out of order, you really should trust it. You cannot continue a streak of fortune forever...”

“Hoh-hoh! Wise words for someone so young!” He laughs heartily. “But, erm... I saw you as you were entering the stairwell. There was no such notice... Perhaps you merely imagined it? No, that doesn’t make sense does it...” He says, you can see a widening smirk across his face.

You’ve clearly been had.

Despite the wasted energy, you can’t help but laugh. That was pretty funny, you’re glad to see someone else who’s willing to be a bit less officious when off-duty.

“I’ll have to try that one myself some time...” You clear your throat. “I’m-“

“Prince Rolant Gordeau of Galvant’s royal house, and now the Mireforge council’s Royal Oath Appointee, honored to meet you, I’m Raoul Leloup, also on the council by the way.”

You blink. That was... a lot. You decide to cut to business.

“You’re a member of the council...?” You ask.

“Yes, yes, officially I’m the “Head of Provincial Relations.” And I take my work very seriously, however, the other parts... Not so.” He chuckled.

“I can see that... Well, I’m excited to start working with you, how did you find out about me so quickly? Do the other council members know?”

“Oh I just happened to pass by our gracious Overseer, Etien told me all about it...”

“I see... Did he say anything about me?”

“Well of course he said that you’re quite young, that much I can tell, though I’m only 17 myself... I guess the two of us will be the only “children” on the council! Glad I’m not the only one anymore... Other than that... Well he did say to be on my best behavior around you, what with your father being THE King Fenrich. But...” His expression shifts, subtly, but to something a little more sinister. He whispers low. “I don’t think you’d come all this way without telling your father, if you were just going to report all of us if we didn’t show total respect to you... I’m quite sure you’ll be a wonderful addition to the council!”

He’s right. You’re not here to flex the fact that your dad can behead who he pleases. You’re here to actually do something.

“In due time, I’m sure the other council members will relax around you, but other than me, nobody knows a thing. You’ll be properly introduced when the session starts... Which is in....” He checks a pocketwatch. “Ten minutes or so. I’ll be up here for eleven minutes before making my return...”

You ponder for a moment. “But, you’ll be late...”

“Oh, my prince, that is precisely correct! I’m ALWAYS late! No need to end a month-and-a-half old tradition!”

“Probably not the best plan if I want to be respected on the same level as the other members... But perhaps when I’ve established myself some more?”

Raoul beams, “I’d quite like that... Getting to know you would make my whole year, trust me.” He gives a small bow and turns back to the view. “You’d better get going, careful though! Someone told me that the lift is out of order!”

“Hah, thank you...”

———

The lift ride is very eye opening. You’ve never used one before, there were plans to construct one back at the palace, but instead your father opted to use the resources to install a third garden. Figures.

As the small lift runs down its shaft, you can periodically get a glimpse at the city through windows. While not as nice a view as the observatory, the bursts of light pouring in give a nice atmosphere...

———

There’s six minutes until the session, so you make your way down to the entrance hall. It’s another lift, that descends down to the floor where council is held, fancy. As such, it’s much larger. Foreboding even behind its gate.

There are a few people already standing about, as well as Etien.

Some of them look toward you with confusion or wonder, you may as well make an impression.

(Oh, you’re right! Whoops.)
Your eyes are immediately drawn to the dwarf, who gives you a curious glare in response. You’ve never seen one in person, but you’ve read much about their industrial ingenuity. Able to make a gold mine out of an ash pit. Mireforge has the largest dwarven population in Galvant, it’s no wonder they have their own representative. You make your way over, his expression remains one where you aren’t quite sure if it’s annoyance or calculation. His white hair and beard suggest age, but you know better, he’s likely in his true prime...

Since it’s the first time you’re introducing yourself for a change, you try to hold a similarly aloof expression. He’s only about five inches taller than you in height, but in frame, it’s as if he is a tower.

“Hmph! When Etien told me we’d have a new councilmen who I could see eye to eye with, I certainly wasn’t expecting that to be literal!” He pushes off of the wall, taking a step forwards. “You know, there’s no need to hide any anxiety you might have, it’s only natural for your first session... We all still have a ways to go, always.”

“Of course, but I’m not hiding anything.” You respond.

“Well, do you fancy yourself just a manager? Or do you like to get your hands dirty with errantry?”

>You’re a planner. It’s important to have brains behind an operation, and be open to persuasion and collaboration.

“Creating elaborate plans without anyone to carry them out is exactly why I came all this way. I solve practical problems... My name’s Rolant Gordeau.”

“Aye, then we are already equals mentally. Though, I don’t suspect you’ll be able to keep up physically. It takes a good intellect to be among our ranks, but it takes a great deal of stamina to consistently travel the province for our needs... I am Kharnik, you may be just a boy but if Etien trusts you than so do I. It also helps that you have at least a bit of insight to how this works, we recognize the significance that surname carries...” lets up a little, smiling. “This work also takes lots of patience, mostly for dealing with that clown.”

“Clown...?”

“Oh, you probably haven’t met Raoul yet! Hah, his position may be important, but he needs to act with more sincerity when it comes to the other affairs of the council.”

You frown. “Even still, I have met him, a couple minutes ago actually. He’s far from a complete jester. Shouldn’t you be a bit more respectful of the Head of Provincial Relations...?”

Kharnik squints. “Head of...?” His grin widens, and he lets out a bellow of laughter. “Oh, child, there’s no such position in our council!”

You raise an eyebrow. “Come again...?”

“It is not out of disrespect that I refer to him as the clown, it is a mere fact! He is the Recreational Lead! Every year we have the common people elect one person to sit on the council for that year, and it just so happened to be Raoul Leloup, an esteemed ringleader of the Cirque du Lune! His main focus is to plan Mireforge’s festivals...”

Recreational lead...? Looks like he pulled two over on you. Next time he takes that lift, it might be a bit... delayed.

“But this is not about him... This is about you. Etien and I are probably the two oldest councilmen, we’ve seen countless come and go, departing for new positions and such. My greatest advice: never give up. It sounds simple, but I really mean it. Convincing others to your cause is not a one day process...”

You nod. “I’ll keep that in mind, thank you.”

“My lesser advice, but still great advice, you’re too thin! We may not best a dragon with a physique like this...”

“A dragon?”

“Yes, townsmen at Ozryn... Hm, not really a good idea to talk business directly before the session. It’s our final moments of calm before we cast aside most of our personal bias for the good of the province. Talk to everyone, enjoy it!”

“I think I will, it’s good to meet you, Kharnik!”

“Likewise.”

With that, you step away.

The moment you lock eyes with him, he glares, only, unlike Kharnik, he doesn’t seem to be trying to understand you, he looks immediately angered.

“Etien, I think you might need to give Sunny a stern lecture, her guards are letting children into our council infrastructure...”

Etien looks to you, “Go on.” He says.

“My name is Prince Rolant Gordeau, I’m serving on the council as of today.” You retort.

“Oh... That makes much more sense. I’d heard that another royal son had been sired, that was years ago. Oho! Where are my manners?” His face brightens, but he still speaks in a condescending manner. “The last time I interacted with royalty was when Prince Erik was in diapers... Are we in a state of emergency and I didn’t know it? Because I thought royals were supposed to stay out of province-level business unless it demands their attention, much less, they send someone who should be at the age to serve under my family to learn his place!”

You look at his armor, and recognize the crest, he’s not being disrespectful out of misguided foolishness, he technically is your better. He’s with the Duodecim.

The Duodecim, a knight order of twelve noble families who used to serve directly under the high king, now they’re spread out as a political force. They’ve been praised for their peacekeeping efforts, but some say they turn a blind eye when profitable to do so. When Erik was your age, instead of wasting away, he directly served the Duodecim in order to learn and grow. Perks of being the first son, you surmise.

“Alphonse Godfrey. I’ll only say this once, and it really is for your own good, run along home, I think you’ll find that you aren’t ready for your actions to have consequences outside of your personal life...”

>”If you want someone more experienced, grant me experience, I’d be happy to hear about my brother in his weaker years...”

“Experience is why I’m here... Being the youngest means I’m just a formality to be protected. I’d be glad to let you pick up right where you left off with Erik, and tutor me for a change.”

Alphonse places a hand to his chin. “That’s good, you don’t have any misconceptions about your skill just because of your station... That I know of... But even still, I refuse to let you make ill judgements in our council. Your surprise appearance is already making me question if we’ll be able to get anything done today...”

“I won’t ask for any of you to make things easy for me, I’ll catch up, I promise.” You say with conviction.

“For a prince, you act like a common squire, all too eager and all too unwilling to start from the beginning. Very well, you’ll learn your folly in time. Now, could you leave the adults to speak?”

You approach the odd looking man fiddling with the dusty pair of goggles over his eyes. Taking them off and putting them back on again, over and over...

“Those aren’t exactly practical, are they?” You ask, amused.

“Certainly not, not here anyways... More suited to hazardous environments! Such as mass forges, or mines...”

“Are you an engineer?” You ask, he kinda looks the sort with those goggles, but...

“Oh? No, no! These were a rare find, found in one of the older systems, dwarven origin, by my analysis at least 70 years old... The goggles used nowadays are much clearer, form fitting, but there’s a certain charm to the bulk of these...”

You give a puzzled expression. He rests the goggles on the brim of his cap and extends a hand.

“I overhead your spat with Alphonse, I am Filipe Useros, Librarium Headmaster. In plain language: I’m a historian... So, while I have much knowledge of the engineering feats of the past, you won’t see me inventing any newfangled contraptions.”

You politely reach up to shake his hand. “History isn’t my strong suit, I don’t exactly have much of a legacy myself...”

“From what I’ve unearthed, even those who believe themselves to be worthless have equal chance of ending up in the books! As a prince, you will someday. Your job now is to make that footprint as wide as possible.”

Filipe puts his hands together. “Well said. I’ve been documenting Mireforge’s history for a long time now, and so I hope you don’t mind if I write about you from time to time...”

“Not at all. Glad to meet.”

“I will say though, you’ve come at an opportune time. Increased crime, unease, even within this council itself. We’ve got our work cut out for us.”

“If you’re a historian, what do you do on this council?”

“Mainly, I’m consulted for any sort of projects that might interfere with a historical site, or I tag along on other councilmen’s errantries to get an expedition in... Other than that, not much. But the more varied opinions shared in a debate, the better!”

That does make sense, this is a group effort after all. You aren’t so sure how you feel about him writing about you, might have to see that later.

“Time is short... I’ve gotta introduce myself to the others, take care, Filipe.”

“To you as well...”

As you turn to walk away, you can see him begin to fiddle with the goggles again.

(Continued... For the sake of brevity, we’re going to continue down the list.)

You make your way over to the corner, the lady with bright red hair has been eyeing you the whole time.

“My my, a prince! Royals hardly do their business up front, what a wonderful surprise!”

She doesn’t seem all too surprised, but she does seem ecstatic. “And you are...?”

“My name is Anna, it’s a palindrome, spelled the same backwards as forwards. I’m the representative for the Merchant’s Guild on the council!” She places her finger on her cheek, in a strange sort of pose.

She seems oddly familiar... You can’t place it, though, you guess anyone with red hair would stand out in your mind.

“So what are your aims on the council, then?”

“Well, that bully Alphonse thinks I’m skewing decisions in the favor of businesses I’m a patron of, but I’m actually for free trade. Lower the entry floor, more troops to guard caravans, a rich and profitable economy can only truly be achieved when all are satisfied under it. Otherwise, if we let the schemes and strategies of the overtly wealthy thrive, the economy might be fertile for a while, but a crash soon follows when the rug is pulled...”

You are no economic expert... “Any quick advice you got?”

“I know all about your brother Erik, it’s all about marketing. Travel a lot, sell your face. But that places a lot of pressure, competition might arise, and steal his thunder...” She gives you a knowing flutter of her eyelids.

“That wasn’t exactly the advice I was expecting...”

“Then let’s try something else.” She fumbles around in her bag, pulling out a feather-tip pen. She hands it to you. “Sell me this pen...”

“You use a pen daily, correct? Taking notes, signing deals, the like.”

“I sure do, but why the hell should I buy this one?”

You think for a moment. “Sentimentality. Your work isn’t disposable, why should your pen be?”

She giggles. “You’re pretty good, prince... Pretty good. You could do with asking many more questions. Find a hole in someone’s needs, and fill it. That’s advice you can take to the sales floor AND the council floor. It’s always fun to go out into town and get actual opinions from the people who live and work here.”

“That’s nice...”

“And it never hurts to make a few sales while you’re out!”

“Er, maybe not so nice...”

She waves you away, and you see the last two council members talking to each other. One of them is a younger looking lady with brown hair, white clothing, and a pair of rugged boots. The other is an older woman in a white lab coat...

“Vivian, I got results back.” The older woman says. “Willow’s gonna be fine, likely just ate something bad on a walk. Just keep her indoors and on a curated diet, she’ll be good as new by next week.”

“Thanks, Naomi... I’m sorry I passed that onto you.” The other girl says.

“Nonsense, just because you’re preserving wildlife doesn’t mean you have to be a veterinarian. Leave the healing to the expert.”

You take a step forward, and they both get a good look at you. Vivian seems pretty nervous, while Naomi studies you similarly to how Kharnik did.

“Look what the cat dragged in...” Naomi says, Vivian gives her an odd look. “Sorry, not an actual cat... Name’s Naomi Masuda, I’m the Health Secretary.”

“I didn’t think there’d be much need for an organization of medical professionals in a city like this...” You wonder.

“Are you kidding me? This place’s main export is mining. Fourty percent of the workforce is breathing cave and coal air for six hours a day or more. Without me, hiring and training more in the fields of medicine, their lives may be very, VERY short.”

“Understandable.” You look to Vivian, who has taken a quiet step back.

Naomi sighs. “There’s no cure for shyness, not yet anyhow... That’s Vivian Cadenza. She’s the Nature Preservation Aide.”

“I-I could’ve told him that!”

“But were you planning to?”

“...Not yet.”

“What was this about a cat?” You ask.

“Um, my cat-“

“ONE of your cats.” Naomi corrects.

“Willow, she got sick recently. I had Naomi give her a checkup. That’s all... Naturally I’m working the animals all the time, but as for council duties, I’m mostly advocating for endangered species, and making sure we don’t allow buildings erected over populated habitats...”

“That is, when you work up the nerve to speak up about it.” Naomi laughs.

You recall Lilian relaying news to you, that magical scholars had finally achieved stable healing procedures.

“Naomi, you hear about healing magic?” You ask, and she rolls her eyes.

“Impractical. You might heal a laceration, or a major fracture if you’re lucky, but if the affliction is already inside your body, it’s useless. Not to mention, how expensive... I can really only see practical use for it in military forces, until a better solution is reached. If I was to be put out of a job by mages, I’d be seriously impressed.”

That’s true. Magic is currently relegated to those gifted. It is possible to learn magic, but it takes multiple decades to even reach a semi-equal proficiency.

You turn to Vivian. “I’m glad your cat is okay... Truth be told, I always wanted one! But, father said it would be too much trouble within the palace... How many?” You ask.

She thinks for a moment. “Ten.”

“Ten cats?”

“Ten cats, yes.” She seems to remove herself from her comfort zone a bit, brightening her expression. “Ten cats, a dog, two horses, and a gryphon. The cats and dog stay in my room, the rest in the stables...”

She’s certainly passionate about wildlife, but still... “Are there many endangered species in these parts?”

“Of course! It may be the mountains, but even still there are the woodlands below, home to many rare birds. Not to mention, rare beasts. That gryphon I mentioned earlier? One of just seven to actually have a recorded and proven existence. We tried releasing him after conducting study, he didn’t really want to leave, so I look after him.”

That is pretty impressive. “Then I look forwards to working with you both...”

“Alright, everyone!” Etien speaks up, behind you. “I’m glad you all got to meet our newest member... But it is about time we began, onto the lift please!”

“Two new members in just two short months... At least this one isn’t traditionally late!” Kharnik boasts.

“You seem a lot smarter than your age suggests, let’s talk more after the session, yeah?” Naomi says, walking toward the opening lift gate, along with Naomi, who simply waves a short goodbye.

———

You’re all filed into the larger lift, descending to the council grounds. Everyone has gone silent, likely just preparing to do business.

Etien taps your shoulder. “Here.” He hands you a bound notebook of sorts. “I meant to give this to you earlier, but I wanted to make sure it was up to date. It’s today’s reference material. It’s also got space for taking notes. Everyone usually receives one the day prior to a session.”

“Thanks.” You tell Etien.

The lift comes to a short halt, and its lower gate opens. The council grounds are well lit by several lanterns and a grand chandelier. Everyone shuffles out, one by one taking their seats at the various podiums, arranged in a circular fashion.

“Just pick an empty seat, everyone usually takes the same places each session.” Etien says. He points to the open seat next to Anna’s. “That’s Raoul Leloup’s position, he’s late again today, so if you’d like, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if you sat there.”

You nod in thanks, and watch him take the higher chair, overlooking the rest of the council. He is the overseer after all...

There are 3 spaces. Where should you sit?

Looks like we cant immediately get to work on that bridge with workers disappearing. Better get a background check on the guards posted in town, get someone to talk with them in person, and maybe reevaluate the damages to confirm if it really was a dragon attack. I have my doubts an actual dragon was involved, else there wouldnt be a town anymore. Perhaps a magic illusion+sabatour work, maybe something dragon like in shape.

You take your seat at the podium next to Kharnik and Vivian. Vivian looks away, clearly still shy, and Kharnik smiles. “Figured you’d have the sense to stick around a more experienced councilman. You don’t have to put all your budget on the table your first day, just get a feel for it.”

Who knows? Maybe you’ll try to take some initiative...

Your attention is tuned to the rest of the council at the sound of a gavel’s knock across the room.

“We begin today’s session focused on the collapse of the historic bridge linking Ozryn Pass to the leadup to Lockinge...” Etien sighs. “Such a thing happening, so close to our doorstep. We tried earlier to address it, however, the team sent to handle the repairs has gone missing. While a search commences, it falls to us to resolve this with our direct resources and skillsets. Now, who would like to take the floor first?”

After a short moment of silence, Naomi stands. “Sometimes, the easiest solution is the right one. But perhaps, we don’t need to repair the bridge at all? At least, not yet. We could simply relocate the checkpoint eastward, along the pass itself. It would be fifteen more miles to the travel route, but it might be the safest option what with the mysterious disappearance of our first repair crew, cheapest too!”

Anna stands next. “Bad plan. We’d be essentially kneecapping the village’s income...”

“Focused on the gold, once again...” Alphonse chuckles. “I agree with Naomi here, relocating the checkpoint would make regulating criminal fencing much easier. Besides which, Ozryn Pass’s village is a notorious tourism scam. If that’s the kind of business you want to support, be my guest, but you won’t be earning much respect for it.”

Anna’s cheerful expression doesn’t falter for a second. “I’m all for holding off on constructing the bridge until we can do our own digging into the situation, but we can’t take the easy way out.”

“But if we sit around too long barring passage into the city from that end, there might be more economic ramifications than a few oddity shops closing their doors...” Filipe reasons.

>No need to take a side yet, keep listening.

>”Repairing the bridge is vital, and I’ll commit whatever it takes to do it.”

"We don't need to repair the bridge. We can do better"

"This reading informs me about steel supports held in place by concrete that seem to have even survived the attack with minimal damage. What if we were to connect a steel enclosure between these two supports, reinforcing them with concrete, and hollow out an area in the center wide enough to fit a carriage? We can create a lift that moves on the inside of the hollowed out area for safe travel. Of course this will be expensive, and more than one carriage won't be able to travel at a time, but that shouldn't be too much of an issue. As long as dragons are an issue in Mireforge, we should focus on making dragon-resistant architecture"

"My question for the council then, is how much something like this would cost and how much time it would take. Given the last group's disappearance, we should focus on dealing with the immediate threat first before going into a cost evaluation for this plan- assuming you're all on board with it"
>>
>>4731093
Sorry, for clarity: the inside of the enclosure would just be ridden in- there would be a lift build in to the side of the cliffs to lower said carriage in and out of the steel enclosure

It’s a bit too early for you to be jumping in, but... You are beginning to formulate an idea that would be safe. By your estimations, it would be costly, but not impossible. You’d just need a pretty good majority. Besides, nobody seems to be bringing up the elephant- er, dragon- in the room...

“If I may, you all know me, the easy way is never the way I’ll endorse if I don’t have to.” Kharnik steps up. “But what worries me is not just the disappearance, but the cause of the collapse... Any ideas?”

The room is silent.

“No? Well, that bridge was constructed with fine dwarven steel from this very city. It would take a perfect concentration of cannon fire to even break one of the steel supports, which would be negligible alone. And yet, a force much greater caused a total collapse...”

You break the silence, finally. “Kharnik, you’re referring to the dragon account?”

“Perhaps...”

Alphonse can’t seem to help but laugh at that. “That is a really fascinating joke, props to them there, Raoul really ought to hear this!” He clears his throat. “But of course, we can throw that account into the river along with the bridge.”

You stand. “But, why?”

“Oh, of course a child would have issue understanding. Dragons aren’t real, they’re a fairy tale built to keep whelps like you in line. We are not even going to discuss it.”

Etien raises his hand. “Discussion of any angle is a positive movement for the council, I’m letting this stand.”

“Th-that does have me interested, actually...” Vivian’s voice is barely audible in comparison to the other council members. “Kharnik is right, a dragon, or perhaps some other rare beast, is the only thing that could have carried out destruction like this at such a speed. That’s worth at least looking into personally... So, if nothing else, I propose a more thorough investigation on-site. I’d be willing to go... Of course, that is if you all agree...?”

“A waste of time. That village’s main exports are lies, that account is clearly an attempt to gain extra compensation for the damages, damages that they may have even caused themselves...” Alphonse crosses his arms. “And if your hypotheses are wrong, then it may not just be that first crew that disappears, and the council would greatly suffer, no?”

Vivian looks down, seemingly defeated.

“Whether or not a dragon exists, the hard way would be the best, Ozryn’s a town, right? Their off-trades are irrelevant. Besides, there’s the hard way, but then there’s the harder way...” You begin. Everyone looks curiously. “The harder way will be costly, but it wouldn’t take any serious engineering feats. Nothing I can’t handle... I propose we create a new bridge, more of a lowered steel enclosure, we raise and lower carriages into it via lifts, and then they can pass safely. Since the entire bridge would be steel reinforced, rather than just the bottom, it would take even more force to take it down. Plus, overseeing the construction ourselves would allow Vivian the chance to research.”

Filipe scratches his chin. “Deviating from the original bridge’s design doesn’t exactly please me, but...”

“But, nothing!” Alphonse raises his voice. “Dragons aren’t real, and the cost of such a design might be over half of our budgets. If we go through with this, we’d have less to devote to our respective areas... I apologize, prince, but we are all flying blindly here, and that is a large proposal for someone whose share isn’t even a tenth.”

“Don’t be so rough on him, Alphie.” Naomi chimes. “The idea could work, but we’d need real proof that this is necessary...”

This won’t be easy... But you definitely think relocating the checkpoint is a bad deal for the public.

>”Then we need to review the evidence and come up with as many outcomes for how the bridge truly collapsed. Then coming to an agreement will be easier.”

>”Then some of us should volunteer to actually see for ourselves, and conduct a more focused sweep. It wouldn’t cost too much to staff a guard detail just in case.”

“Then how about humoring Vivian’s request? We go out, do a specialized investigation of the area, and return with a cost estimate for the bridge and evidence that can fully explain its collapse, and then we can come to a decision at our next session.” You give a determined expression. “I’ll even be a part of the force myself.”

Etien looks upward in thought. “That can be arranged, if you have the support? It should be around 20,000 gold to pay an elite guard unit to accompany you if the trip lasts a full week.”

“I don’t exactly have anything else to pour my funds into...” You shrug.

“There’s much that goes into running the mining operations... But, I don’t think it’d be wise to send only Vivian and yourself.” Kharnik grins. “I’ll go as well! I can handle about 3,000 of that sum. And if there’s no dragon, Sir Godfrey can take 3,000 out of my next share...”

Alphonse looks amused. “Gambling, eh? You’ll need a mountain of proof to satisfy me.”

Vivian seems almost MORE embarrassed that people are actually supporting her. “S-Since it was my idea, I’ll put in another 3,000...”

“That means you still lack around 8,000 to fund the full trip... If you conduct it quickly, perhaps, but it sounds like you’ll need more time...”

You look around the room. Naomi just shakes her head, a bit apologetically.

“Like I said, I’d love to help rebuild the bridge, but I cannot condone a new design... Not while we have the original blueprint to preserve the true history.” Kharnik says.

“Likewise, I’m wary of losing the investment...” Anna says, not sold on the idea.

Looks like you need to negotiate some other deal.

“Could we perhaps just go without a guard detail?”

“Certainly not, especially with someone of your status on board...”Etien’s beginning to sound like your dad. You aren’t a fan of that.

There has to be some way you can do this, or else you’ll just be making a fool of yourself on the first day... Something, someone-

“Sorry I’m late, agaaaain!” Raoul’s signature dolled up figure throws the stairwell door open. He quickly walks over to his podium, taking a seat and crossing his legs. “What did I miss? We decide what to do with the bridge?”

“Raoul, I need your share to fund a full investigation into rumors of dragons attacking Ozryn Pass...” You immediately say before someone can interrupt.

“Hm? Oh... Well I was going to run a small harvest event in the city in about four days with most of that...” He smirks. “You might laugh at my jokes and neglect to take my seat, but you’re gonna need more than that...”

Kharnik holds your shoulder, whispering to you. “Careful, this is the part where he makes things interesting...”

With a light giggle, he continues. “I think I can delay the event on the account of a certain fortune teller informing me of a horrible rainstorm that day...” His grin turns to something new, something devilish in nature. He holds up one silver coin. “That is, if this coin lands on tails.”

“Typical, the fool would do this... Etien, is this even allowed!?” Alphonse cries.

“What he does with his share is his business, as long as he isn’t spending it on frivolous matters...”

Restocked and adjusted. The way it works is that for each week, budget is divided based on the relevancy of the council member’s specialization, and their general influence.
For instance, since the bridge being out is of historical/economic significance, Anna and Filipe have pretty sizable shares. For now, Alphonse holds the lions share just off principle that The Duodecim financially supports the province regularly. But if you manage to say, prove him completely wrong, some of his share might get distributed out.

“Go ahead and flip it.”

“Alright, here, we, go!” Raoul tosses the coin very high. It’s hard to see, but it lands on his hat. He then takes it into his palm and examines.

He sits silent for a moment, frowning, for a second you lose hope. His smile them triumphantly returns. “Very well, it’s all yours. Don’t spend it all in one place! Or, I guess that’s what you are doing, right?”

Etien sighs with a sort of relief. “Then I’ll arrange the trip to begin tomorrow afternoon... Unless there are any serious final objections?” His gaze turns to Alphonse, who scoffs.

“I don’t need to object. There’s nothing to find, but it’s good, a learning experience for the boy. Failure makes a man...”

“Then we will make a final decision on whether to restore the bridge at our next session... Are there any closing arguments?”

The council shakes their collective heads. Nothing going on in the more specialized affairs it seems, at least this week.

With another strike of Etien’s gavel, the session is adjourned.

You feel pretty proud of yourself, even if you’re not quite out of the woods yet, and even if your success was up to fortune...

You all shuffle back to the lift, Alphonse makes it clear he wishes to avoid you, taking the corner. Vivian speaks to you as it makes its way back up.

“Thanks for going with my idea... I didn’t think it would actually go through!”

Your stalwart advisor probably wants to know how his charge’s first session went. Plus, he’d probably want to join the expedition crew. You decide to pay him a visit.

———

You stand on your toes, knocking twice. The door opens soon after, and Ganimard pokes his head out. He’s not wearing his armor right now, no need you suppose.

“Ah, Lord Rolant! I take it your experience was eye opening?”

You nod. “Indeed. Though, I’m in the process of potentially opening the eyes of a few others on the council myself...”

“Well, do tell.” You don’t even have to ask for the old Knight to let you in, he stands aside.

His room isn’t as spacious as yours, you see Ganimard has already taken to decorating. A stand holds most of his suit of plated armor, and a number of weapons adorn the left wall.

You sit down on the side of the bed, and he takes the chair across from it. “We discussed the destruction of the bridge at Ozryn Pass...”

“Was an agreement reached?”

“Almost. But, I managed to convince the council to hold off on funding a relocation of the checkpoint until a more focused investigation could be conducted. There are rumors of dragons that Vivian wished to look into, and I need to know how viable the bridge design in my head may be...”

“So now all we have to do is wait.” Ganimard smiles, with a hint of pride in you. “Well done, my lord...”

“Thank you, Ganimard... By the way, I’m a part of the investigation team.”

The smile across his face erodes quickly, transforming to the usual face of worry. “T-That’s quite dangerous!” He clears his throat, slowly sitting back down. “Er, while I doubt you’ll find a real dragon, I do think it’s unwise being so... Active. Especially this early on.”

You won’t budge, he’s acting in your best interest, but you already know you’ll return safely. Besides...

“That’s why I have you, right? For aid in martial affairs, and security?”

He scratches the stubble at his chin. “Yes, I suppose so... Very well, if you allow me to stick by you, I’ll allow this expedition.”

As if he had a say in the matter in general.

The room grows a bit quiet. You have a question or two more for Ganimard...

>”You’re rather overzealous in your duties, no? Are you usually like this with father and brother, or just me?”

>”Etien speaks highly of you, how did you two meet?”

I'd ask about the village too, but I don't think he'd know anything useful, and it sounds like we only get 2 questions.

You decide to start with his protectiveness. “Has crime been particularly violent in this province...?”

Ganimard nods solemnly. “The whole kingdom has enjoyed peace for awhile since your father’s... outburst of sorts...”

It was just after you were born, so you were not witness to it, but following your mother’s passing, father’s rage led to increased military action. Crime was stamped out, warlords slain, it wasn’t all positive growth. But by the time you were old enough to comprehend it, the kingdom had moved on from such times.

“Peace cannot maintain forever. Some will always be looking to create and exploit chaos to their own ends. I hope you can help to remedy it, but I am wary, it’s my job to be wary...”

“I’ll be okay... Now that we’re in Mireforge, is there anywhere you know of that I might be interested in?”

Ganimard scratches his chin. “It has been some time, but the city of Lockinge is a beauty. Advanced as well, an engineer such as yourself has plenty to muse upon here... Outside of the city? Westward down the mountain is the lake town of Dions, the surrounding area of which is known for hosting relaxing natural hotsprings... Along the cliffside barrens is the crudely named Blade’s Edge. I’d call it a town, but its size rival’s Lockinge’s. Though, their main export is mercenary work. If I hadn’t become a Knight, I might be finding myself living there.”

That reminds you... “Etien spoke of you as if he knew you, you’re well known being a royal knight, but is there more between you and the Overseer?”

“Ah, yes. Back when Etien was younger, perhaps six years your senior, he was just a scrappy young noble. The council was much looser, more corrupt even, the king had to intervene often. But Etien, being the Overseer’s son, wanted to take bettering things into his own hands often... This didn’t quite end well.” Ganimard laughs at the memory. “I’ve had to rescue him from capture by bandits, beasts, and even demon worshippers once... His will amused me, and we became friends. It has been some time since we’ve spoken outside of the occasional letter, that’s actually part of the reason I agreed to this, I kind of wished to catch up. The last time we saw eachother in person was before you entered this world, he asked me to find some way to dissuade her daughter from a life of combat with the guard. Fortunately for Etien, Sunodea was much more gifted than I’d expected. So instead, I trained her.”

“So he started out as a hothead on the council, and now he’s a lot more cautious?”

“People change. I did, you may as well. I used to think about nothing but wetting my blade with the blood of those I deemed beneath me. Now all I think of is how to avoid the shedding of blood, as much as possible. The presence of two blades may stay one... Either way, if you’re looking for someone who truly cares about his people, there’s no better than Etien. I saved him, in exchange, he listened to me more than anyone else has.”

“Then I’ll keep that in mind if I need someone else to confide in for once...” Lastly, a certain other knight you’ve recently met comes into your mind... “Sir Ganimard, I’m sure you’re aware of Alphonse Godfrey’s presence on the council?”

“Ah yes, The Duodecim’s Black Hawk... I’m sure you saw his attitude firsthand?”

“He isn’t fond of sharing the floor with a child, you’d think he’d hold more respect for royalty, what gives?”

“The Duodecim will always have my respect for their support of peacekeeping in the kingdom, but when it comes to governing, they come to blows a lot. They’re the highest of high nobility, and believe that the common man having more relaxed freedom will lead to chaos and destruction. They have yet to be proven right... As for Alphonse himself, he’s a fierce fighter but his diplomacy leaves a lot to be desired. Though, he has the ire of some of the other Duodecim families, occasionally acting against their interests. Perhaps he’s become his own man. I’d like to think so, but who knows? I don’t know anyone who calls him a friend...”

“How should I deal with him?” You ask.

“Don’t. It’s perhaps not worth your time. If he comes after you, winning won’t be easy. He gets what he wants in the short term, but in the long term he gets what he deserves.”

You figure that makes sense. But still, Alphonse is quite the odd character. Perhaps he isn’t as bad as you think, or perhaps he’s much worse. You’ll find out one way or the other.

You bid Gordeau farewell... It is now nighttime. The halls are much quieter, and lanterns light the way instead of sunlight.

It’s been a long day, and tomorrow may prove even longer...

You decide you’ll spend a while at the observatory, and stave off sleep a bit longer. Being in such a new environment fills you with wonder, to hell with fatigue!

The cramped lift to the observatory is quite the marvel, every so often a window gives you a glimpse of the city, until it finally reaches the overlook.

You’re surprised to see not one, but two familiar faces out here. Anna and Raoul. The former doesn’t turn her gaze from the view, leaning over the railing, the latter has been looking at you since the lift arose. Perhaps he sensed the lift’s movement...

“Ah, my kindred agent of fortune...” You give a look of confusion, and Anna turns, finally noting your presence. “Couldn’t sleep either, could you?”

“That was definitely an interesting first session...” Anna remarks. “So, how does it feel, prince Rolant? A hand in affairs, a taste for adventure, it’s not so bad leaving the comfort of a palace...”

“You can say that again.” You remark. This is the most eventful your life has ever been. “It feels wondrous. Raoul, I have to thank you for that last minute gambit of yours.”

“Oh, don’t thank me.” He tosses an item towards you, it glistens against the moonlight. You barely manage to catch it in your palms.

You take a look, it’s a silver coin... These were purely commemorative it seems, with Mireforge’s insignia. Likely to celebrate the election of the yearly people’s council member. You flip the coin over, and your eyes widen. The exact same print. A two sided coin!

Looking back up at Raoul, he has that knowing grin on his face once more.

“I take it this was not an accident, do you need to gain something from my errantry tomorrow?”

“Nope! Keep it. But... If you did find a dragon... That would be amazing! I mean, you’d be the new talk of the city. And then I’d finally have some competition...” Raoul walked past you, toward the lift. “Either way, just consider it a welcome gift, farewell!”

You wave him a short goodbye.

That just leaves Anna, who’s had the same grin since you met her.

“A fine character, no? He gets on some nerves here and there, but his festivals are intricately planned, the people love him. It’s no wonder he was elected...”

>”Is he always so... dishonest?”

>”Has he ever helped you like he did me?”

>”I feel as if I recognize you...”

>”This view is quite incredible, especially in the night...”

>”Let’s talk business, you sound as if you have connections at Ozryn Pass, elaborate.”
