From the fellow who did Otome Quest and SS13: You know, while there are a few quests in the flavor of building a civilization I have only seen the few where you become the Ruler themselves die at character creation. This thread here we will make the Ruler and go through their early years of life. After that, we shall experience their early years of life and how they became who they are upon assuming the throne.

Who knows, if we go fast enough we might be able to make something similar to Crusader Kings where its not just the Ruler you are playing, but a Dynasty. And since this is Fantasy, who knows what can happen in this world. Maybe you see a bunch of honey everywhere and search who left all the honey about, ending up with your Heir actually being a Bear.

We will probably be building the Character here for the next few days, then next week I will start the real meat of this event.

First Question is, what shall be the basis of being a ruler:

>Undead King
This here does not mean you wont have living subjects, but it is guaranteed you will start out as an Undead Lord in the flavor of creatures like Vlad von Carstein, Mordekaiser, and Ainz Ooal Gown. Your Rule is eternal, and thus there is no chance of forming a grand dynasty.

>Man/Humanoid
Generic, yes, but that also means you have everything a man could want. A realm to call your own, possibly a family line to rely upon, and lastly the fate to go fight some Orcs. Remember that depending on your choices, you might end up having a few shenanigans.

>Monstrous
Greater than man, inhuman in thought, but still keen on the idea of civilization. This is quite vary as well, being that you can be things like Mazdamundi from Warhammer, Every Demon Lord Isekei Protagonist, or even an Ork warboss. However your aim is not to destroy the world and everything good in it I assume.

>Ruler of the End
Ah yes, just like Saron and Archeon the Everchosen you are what is suppose to be a troupe of Evil Demon Lord that seems to go amiss in today’s media. You seek to destroy everything Good and Nice in the world and either replace it or destroy it. You are the end game, and I guarantee you some plucky adventurers are going to come stop you!

>Man/Humanoid
hate to go generic but the idea of passing on rule is too appealing to me
>>
>>4801139
>Man/Humanoid
Cause I like the chance of playing generations and not having OP powers that some characters may have.
>>
>>4801154
I will say it can also be done with Monsterous. However Humanoid is the easiest to do without issues.

Lots of people here today, which is expected since its summer and you all have a hell of a lot more time. Normally I would not be this quick on the draw, but this is also character creation.
>>
You shall be part of the Humanoids, which in itself is a simple kind but not completely. There are a variety of humanoids, ranging from Elves to Man to Dwarves. Actually that is about it really, unless you all want to be Rulers of the Halfling/Gnome Duchies.

So, lets figure out your race of Humanoids.

>Race of Man
General, but also simple and expansive. You rule over the temperate planes of the world or the far my treacherous north. Eitherway, you are all of mankind and there are a good amount of you. Let it be King or Duke, you shall face challenges both within and outside of your realm.

>Dwarves, Lords of the Mountain
Hail, Mountain Lords. Within the mountain’s greatest peaks you reside, ruling over the numerous battle hosts and blacksmiths. The technology you wield is greater than any other, however your kind would rather remain in their mountains to harvest more gold and ore. You also can’t walk across the plains very well, so there is that. Then again you have enough fighting in the mountains ranging from the beasts, rats, goblins, and those who have wronged you.

>Elves, the perfect race.
Elves. These creatures are the forever guardians of the world, or atleast that is what they want you to think. Most would rather reside in their woods or citadels than go out and fight a good fight. However with that, there is always the chance of a wayward king desiring more than just his slot in life.

>Halfling
Of look, you get to eat all day. Lets move on.

>Demi-Humans
For all you furries out there, you can finally be a Neko. Keep in mind you are ruling over a state of animal people, many of whom have only just become ‘civilized’ within the last 100 years. So enjoy trying to tame these beastly people, for they like to bite the hand that feeds them.

The Race of Man, a varied but powerful people who would either will or have inherited the earth from the civilizations of Dwarf and Elf. However the question becomes when and where do you want does the first in a grand dynasty start up?

>Become the Barbarians of the West
The age of Elf and Dwarf are coming to an end, as rumor has it that the Capital of the Elvish Grand City has been pillaged by fellow barbarians. Your Migration has led you to these plentiful lands, as the dreadful Orcs and their Warbosses have finally grown stronger than your people. Will you revage the empires of old, or become the stalwart against the rising greentide?

>Feudal man
Mankind has settled, leaving behind their barbaric ways so that they may grow in both population and power. However the dreadful greenskins of the East will never stop coming and that things are stirring in the dread-deserts

>Renaissance
Magic and Steel have advanced far enough that the nation-states have been formed. With fire and steel you can take revenge against the Greenskins or send your men to the new age of discovery!

Mankind, the race of people who forever wonder the lands of both barbarism and the civilized world. They are unable to breed with the two greater species of Dwarf and Elf, with such a union only creating the infertile offspring of halfbreed. Once they were fine wondering the cold and dreadful lands of the East. The older men remember the times where they were surrounded by forest, food was plentiful, and there was a little privacy if a man and his wedded wanted to have some fun.

Those days are long gone however, the feeling of destitute upon the backs of every man, woman, and child. Forced out of their Siberian forests by the dreadful Greenskins, man has found itself in a region utterly alien to their flesh.

However it was soon realized the benefits, where their flesh would not be battered by the long winters and the numerous cities filled with food and treasure.

However those are not of your concern, for us being above all watch a small hut crafted from sticks and muck.

“Things are not looking good, Hardrock.” The old elf said as she looked over the labouring woman, “Your concubine has already given up. Soon her body will follow, and you will lose both her and the child.”

“That is not what I brought you here to say, Hag.” The man quickly backslapped the elf with a sneer in his voice, “I have seen your damnable magics work upon the soldiers, why can you not save her!?”

“I… I am sorry but she is not an Elf! Our people may not have many children, but we are much more healthy than you monkeys!”

“Damn you!” With a rage the man picked the slave up and threw her onto the ground, “Is the Child within her still alive?”

“Y-yes, but you should not do it! A child who is not birthed is cursed!” The elf yelled while wrapping herself around the man’s arm, “To do so is the greatest taboo of all!”

“I do not care for your beliefs or Gods, wench!” And with a slice of the arm the sword cleaved right through the elf’s left breast, “I am in charge here, and I have the final say!”

The large man marched forward, with the eyes of the village woman all watching. With a cleave of his sword, he released the woman's belly and blood came gushing out. He knew his way around the bronze dagger he held, so the man swiftly released the womb that was suppose to carry an unborn child within it.

He reached in, and removed the child born of a dead mother who was not birthed.

“Stupid little creature, you are.” He sneered while holding it within his hands, “Best show you to your Father before he is angry about his fuck toy.”
>>
The door was slammed open, the cold air brushing against the baby. The only reason he stayed alive was because of the still warm blood of his mother. They were not out long, soon returning to the small cabin where a man turned annoyed.

“What happened to her?” He asked with a modest worry in his throat.

“She is dead, brother.” The man said annoyed while placing the child upon the table, “I carved out your child though, if that means anything to you.”

“Damn it, and she was my favorite.” The man said while looking over the child, “This damnable spawn killed her?”

“Do you want me to dispose of him? The wolves are still hungry ever since we ran out of Orc Meat.”

“No, he is the child of those Slyks. They might still raid with us if we keep the kid around.” The man looked at the baby who was upon the table, “Which means he needs a name.”

“How about Alaric.” The brother suggested as he manhandled the child’s face.

“Everyone’s ruler?” the father looked at his brother with a set of narrowing eyes, “This thing is a child of a now dead concubine, why give him such a powerful name?”

“I think its a good one,” The brother laughed with a devilish grin, “Its in the tongue of those damned Slyks, so if they claim we are not treating their little spawn right than we can just point to him having such a name.”

“And this is why you are my advisor, Hector.” The Chief laughed while waving his hand, “Now get him out of my sight. Stridder is still wet isn’t she?”

“You’re right, she probably has enough milk in there for two kids.” Hector answered with a devilish laugh.

“Get going ya git.” The Father ordered with a wave of the hand, “You know the Orcs will be at our doorstep by week’s end.”

And like that time went by like the wind for Alaric, the child of a minor Chieftain. Once he learned how to walk, Alaric would swear that he was never off of them. Such a young child, and while he saw a few of his kin drop dead from all the walking he kept on moving with the tribe.

“Are we finally done moving!?” Alaric announced as he felt his feet quak underneath him.

“Just about, child.” The concubine known as Stridder answered as they were climbing down a small range of mountains.

“You crying Alaric?” a child from Stridder’s shoulders yelled out with a smile.

“Not yet Hespert.” Alaric responded towards his half-brother, “You’re the one who gets a ride.”

“Stop it you two, I don’t want to hear your pestering any more.” Stridder announced as they came upon a small open field. Several men and women were working already, setting their small tents and huts up, “Thank the Gods we have made it.”

Alarick looked about as people were starting their work, with several men making their way towards the perimeter to secure everything. Of course there was the first place being set up, the hut belonging to their Clan’s Chief and his father. However off to the side of all that, near the pond, was the Shaman who guided them to this location.

“I’ll be back!” Alaric yelled while running off into the crowd of working people.

“You, tsk.” Was about all a response Stridder gave as she watched the little boy get himself into who knows what.

Alaric was of course amazed as all children are at the speed of construction. He had himself at the side watching as men were barking out orders and getting the central hut placed back up. Ontop that hut was of course the symbol of their clan, a singular tooth from what was once a great monster. Legend says that it once belonged to a Dragon, and Alaric believed every word of it.

“So this is where you were hiding, you damned kid.” the child felt the collar of his shirt lift as he was pulled off the ground and was now face to face with a gruff looking man, “Stridder said you ran off, but why the heck are you here?”

“I-I was just wanting to see Father.” The child admitted struggling against his clothing, “L-let me down!!”

“Hmph, dreadful little spawn.” The big man said while dropping him, “My brother is probably already inside, you were just too dumb to notice him.”

The man said that, taking a few steps before looking back with an annoyed expression, “You coming or not kid?”

“Yes yes, I’m coming!” The kid quickly went behind the rather large man before falling in line.

Soon they crossed through the halls, seeing the place already lit with a warm fireplace that burned with a calm fury. Within the room the people all sat around the fire, “So how far away from the greenskins are we?”

“We should not see them for at least five winters.” one of the men answered with a small laugh, “The Tonkeries are next in line and they are a stubborn bunch.”

“Better them than us.” Another fellow said with a small laugh, “Eh Orion?”

The men all turned towards the largest man in the room, the one who was also Alaric’s father, “Yes, and if we are lucky they might even kill the warboss.”

There were a few laughs about the room, though Alaric could not help but feel they were shallow. Somehow he knew the likelihood of this warboss actually being killed was low.

“Orion.” The man who brought Alaric in called out, “I found your spawn hanging outside the hut, what you want me to do with him.”

The Father’s brows were raised as he looked over to see Alaric’s childish face. He gave a small gruff and a shaking of the head, “Just toss the fucker out of here. Why the hell did you bring him in here Hector?”

“Because I thought it would be good for you to talk to him.” Hector said with a sinister smile plastered across his face, “Come on, he's right here.”

“I said toss him out damn it, before I do it myself!” Orion burned with a wave of the hand.

“Well thats a good way to treat your son.” Hector joked with a smirk on his face.

“You’re the fool who brought him in here, so get him out.” The Father demanded with a small bit of fury in his voice.

“Fine fine, come on kid.” The man beckoned to Alaric with a smirk on his face.

For the kid, this kind of thing was kinda expected. So he followed the other outside of the small hut. The man gave another laugh before patting Alaric on the head, “Don’t feel that down, kid. Your Father is just an ass.”

“But he only treats me like that.” The kid ached with a small pout.

“Yeah well he loved your mother a little too much.” He laughed before walking away, “Anyways kid, get your ass back to Stridder. Got it?”

“Yeah, I got it.” The kid answered with a small smile upon his face.

The man, maybe either fooled or knowingly let the kid do as he wanted, left him alone. With a small kid alone next to the hut. With the chance given, the kid quickly got his way around and to a small pile of sacks. With a push of all his strength, the kid lifted one of the bags out of the way, placing it so it would completely cover him from the outside.

With a smirk on his face, he wiggled a few twigs apart to get himself a view of the inside once more.

“So, what are the Clows doing?” One of the men asked with a grown, “What do they think of our little move?”

“Back when I talked to the High Chief, he was a little ticked off we were leaving so soon.” Orion said with a furrow on his brow.

“Does he really expect us to fight the Greenskins? Why we lost half of our men only a few years ago.” Another advisor said with a small worry in his voice.

“And he would say that we deserve it.” The oldest of the men said with a growl, “If he does call upon us, we will need to answer. His Council is tied up around his finger.”

Time went by, and Alaric listened to what they were saying. Such a thing of course became sort of a daily ritual after this, since the hole was now made the Child always returned to it. No one seemed to really care when he was missing, probably because he was only the child of a concubine.

Well, that did not mean he did not have fun!

“Come on, Alaric, thats cheating.” Hespert said as he looked up at tree.
“Why would you call this cheating? You’re the fool who can’t get up here.” The Alaric joked as he swinged ontop of a mighty branch.
“Tsk,” Was about all Hespert could say against his halfbrother.
Currently they were playing tag, and of course Hespert was ‘it’. Situations like this, while uncommon, happened frequently enough for Hespert to get angry. Though the kid could only blame himself, since he usually was the one who drove the other up a tree.
With a smile Alaric called out, “So does this mean you surrender?”
“Grr, yeah I do.” Hespert admitted while raising his hands, “Now get down before Stridder gets angry.”
“Like she would care that much.” The black haired rascal admitted as he dropped from the tree. The other did not say anything, since he was honestly a little confused how the other was always so nonchalant about his situation.
However as he reached the ground a subtle wind went by the boys, a small shiver going up their backs as they looked up to see parts of a grey sky.
“I don’t like this wind.” Hespert admitted as he turned around and pointed, “We should get ourselves back to the village.”
“Yeah, lets go.” Alaric could not help but agree with his half-brother before both of them sprinted away.
As they ran the small bit of misery ran in Alaric’s heart. The sense that something either dumb or bad was about to happen haunting behind him. He was however too focused on that, to notice the arm left out to clothesline him.
“Guh!!” He yelled as his feet flew from underneath him.
“Nice one Czech.” A boy off to the side said as he gave a laugh.
“He did not see it coming.” The one who nailed Alaric laughed with a small bellow.
The injured child rubbed his nose for a moment, then the back of his head as he slowly rose. There were three boys around him, and no sign of Hespert near him.
“Little ol’ Ric got himself a bo-bo.” The largest of them said as he walked towards Alaric, “Now what are you going to do about it?”

Alaric felt pain in the back of his head, but that did not stop him as he quickly got off his feet and pulled back his arm. The punch was quickly sailing towards the fellow, however before the punch was easily caught in the bully’s hand.

“You call that a punch, ya bastard?” He laughed before taking a fist right to Alaric’s face, “Do you even know who I am?”

“HEYAAA!” The smaller child responded, which was met with a punch to the face.

“Fucking idiot, why the fuck does Father keep you around.” The large child growled before picking Alaric up and making sure they were face to face, “I am Pol, first born to Father and his first wife. You, Ric, are below me.”

“N-no.” Alaric responded before quickly taking his childish arm and throwing it at the young teen’s face. However the hit did nothing, just bouncing off his face as he gave another growl.

“Disrespectful piece of shit.” He said before taking Alaric and punting him like a football.

He went flying for a few feet, settling down in a muddy ditch as the other kids laughed.

“Thats what you get for going against the best!” Czech called out while sticking his tongue out.

“Come on guys, lets go.” The third kid said before turning his back, “We’ll be missed for dinner.”

“Alright Ukr, of course you would never want to miss mother’s cooking.” Pol said before running off with the other boys.

Yup, those were the three brothers, Alaric cursed himself as he slowly got up. Inseparable as always, they were all slotted to get positions on the council once Orion passes way. With such privileges, they get the most amount of concubines and of course are to be leaders in the militia.

And Alaric hated them already.

>Turn that anger into strength, he shall not be bullied like that again.
>Pay them no heed, best just avoid them from here onwards.
>Scheme, scheme their demise!

As he rose from the mud and muck, Alaric could still feel a subtle anger building in his heart. It was a nasty anger, one where he would not easily forgive these boys for what they have done. However, looking at his hand he knew he could never defeat them the way he was now.

He would need to get stronger.

So he started on his way back towards home, a small headache growing as he walked. Even as a child the punches have done their damage, and at such a young age you never know what it could do to the body. Even from days and weeks after this, he would feel the pain throbbing where his head meets his neck.

“A-are you alright!?” Hespert called out as he quickly got out from behind a tree.

“You were watching?” Alaric growled as he walked past his half brother.

“Sorry but I can’t help you fight them.” Hespert said while frowning, “Come on, lets get you to Mother.”

So the two boys walked, and time went by. However that anger never really went away.

Every day he would run around and play, however he felt he should be doing more to prepare. Unlike Hespert, Alaric ran until he was tired and weak. However that weakness was going away as spring came around. However that pain on his neck was still here, never going away as he traveled. The boys would of course come at him again and again, making that pain more of a symbol of his anger at the teens.

Being a Youth of about ten years, Alaric was given the chance to start working. No one seemed to care where he wondered, either not thinking they had the authority to boss a child of the chief or not caring what he did. Thus the question became what he would work?

>Go out hunting for some beasts

We first start to lift and move heavy shit a place to another, and when we have enough strenght we shall start with the sword

Also, I don't think stealing one is the best idea. Best case scenario we get our shit beaten, worst case scenario Father or someone is going to cut a finger or something. Let's remember we are part of a barbarian tribe and being the bastard son of a comcubine, we are low in the tribe and we shouldn't be doing things like that

I'll tell you this, don't bother doing more than one thing in this quest. There are specific reasons I segregate choices, and choosing ALL OF THE ABOVE is dumb.
>>
Honestly he really just wanted to go off and do his own thing, but the boy knew that he was going to regret any choices like that later. However that did not mean he was going to be useless, and within a few months he was lifting sacks and logs around the camp.

“Little bit more kid.” The foreman said as he stood with a pair of logs on his shoulders, “Alright, drop it.”

Alaric soon gave, dropping his log onto the ground with a loud smack. He panted for a moment, obviously worn from carrying just the one log. The man next to him only laughed as he wielded some rope, “This is what happens when you try and carry more than you can kid. Maybe stick with sacks.”

“I-ugh… I’ve felt worse!” Alaric championed before falling on the ground.

“AHAHA!” The Foreman could not help but laugh as the other men brought logs, “Kid, don’t change.”

Alaric watched as the man took some twine and started to tie several of the logs together. Soon the logs were set up in a cross fashion, which was just a barricade just in case attackers were to come. Just as everyone else's was thrown together, the log he brought over was mixed with the rest.

“Still, to think a Chief’s Son would be out here working with us.” One of the other men called out with a snicker, “All the others are either still sucking their mother’s teat or training by the sword right?”

“Yeah, I can’t really say I like the new generation. Kids never knew the real winters we came from.” An older man of the group called out.

“Speakin’ of winters, once we are done here how about we head out for a drink.” The Foreman called out with a smile, “That includes you kid, you worked so you get the reward.”

I got an idea.... How about we try and tempt Hespert into the path of the warrior, and he takes up a sword. And we get to practice with him on the down low, maybe he can get us a sword too and we could be sparing partners.

We can tempt him when he asks us why we're doing this we say we want to get stronger and not get pushed around or hide when the bullies pick on you or me. Maybe throw in a jab like I'll be a man sooner than everyone else my age at this rate, etc.
>>

>Head out drinking with the workers
We're starting to gain respect, the best we can do is build up more of our relations with the builders because is the first time they want to includes us in their group, Then! The other day we can gently decline the drinks and keep practicing in lifting two logs, and who know? Maybe one of the builders give us tips and all that.

>>4808378
Hespert is still to young at this age, idk if they can or will show him how to build a sword yet, but we can convince him to join us and later when his old enough he stars to train with the sword.

Well Ithink alot of kids trained with heavy wooden swords heavier than actual swords to build strength and when they picked up the real thing it wasn't as hard for them to swing. If all else fails we can borrow a knife from our workplace and carve both of us a pair of swords.

“Yeah, damn it lets get going!” The men called out before walking their way towards a large cabin.

Within the cabin was a series of vases and wooden things, each with their own original look to themselves. To Alaric he could not really believe they were all together since they all looked to bizzare against the others. Like for one it was a large wooden tub with metal wound around it. Others looked to be contained in ornate vases, almost otherworldly in their look.

“Alright, we going for Elven or Dwarf shit?” The Foreman called out as he got to the counter.

“Give us the Dwarf shit, those Elves can’t make their shit strong enough.” One of the men called out while furnishing a couple of glasses.

“Alright, just don’t break anything tonight you dumbasses.” The Foreman laughed while taking a small pick and striking the barrel with it.

At the wound, it started to flow a dark brown liquid. However unlike what Alaric expected, the man happily brought their mugs to the font and filled their glasses up to the brim.

“Nice nice, don;t forget to get a glass for the kid.” The Foreman called out as the men got their filling.

A slightly intimidated Alaric received a mug full of the stuff. He saw everyone else drinking it, and gingerly picked up the glass and took a drink out of it.

“Agh, what is that?!” He called out while spitting out the liquid.

“Its Dwarven beer kid.” One of the men yelled out, “Shits probably too strong for him.”

“Yeah, he would probably want some milk instead.” The Foreman answered with a small chuckle, “This stuff tastes like shit I know. You want me to get ya something else?”

The man seemed genuine in his question, however Alaric did not really know what to think about it for a moment.

With a small, solemn nodding of the head Alaric agreed, “Y-yeah.”

The Foreman did not seemed deterred, just giving a smile as he rubbed the kids head, “Good, I’ll be right back with your drink.”

Soon there was a glass of warm milk infront of Alaric, and he enjoyed a night of drinking along with the men. Luckily nothing bad happened, since no one was idiotic enough to try and down entire containers of the Dwarven stuff.

Time move forward, three years passing as Alaric began to actually grow. Small muscles began to form, and the child was feeling the extent of all that labour he was doing. Now he was actually able to lift a full log up and carry the damned thing about the place.

However that pain in the back of his neck never really went away.

Time settled, and Alaric was now trying his best to lift two logs the Foreman came up behind him, “So you’ve been working with us for a while, but ya know its about time you learn something else.”

“W-what do you mean?” The kid exclaimed with a small fear in his voice.

“Every man in this village needs to learn how to fight, and in three years you will be a man.” He said with a happy exclamation, “So I think its about time we teach you how to fight.”

“Really!?”

“Yup, the men even went ahead and made you a wooden weapon to play with.” The fellow laughed while reaching behind himself a drawing out…

a sword.

“Thought this here would work well for someone of your breed. You are a son of the Chief after all.” The Foreman answered with a smile while giving Alaric the sword’s handle.

Shakily Alaric accepted the wooden weapon, feeling the weight on his arms as he brought it closer to himself, “Cool, this is really cool!”

“Yup, now come over and we can start with some pointers.” The fellow called out while bringing Alaric to a few man looking manikins.

“Now, lets start with an upper strike. See if we can get you to make some nice strikes.” He called out while taking out a sword similar to Alaric’s.

With that the two began to work, Alaric slamming the sword repeativly against the wooden thing representing a man. Each strike was hit with his entire body behind it, much to the satisfaction of the Foreman.

“You’re pretty good at this.” He laughed, “Might even be a natural.”

“HYA!” Alaric yelled as he slammed his sword against the practice target, the sounds of wood shattering coming to both their ears. Looking over, the sword that Alaric was practicing with had shattered into several pieces, rendering it useless.

“By the Gods.” He laughed while leaning down and picking up the shards, “You might have the blessing of Tor behind you! HAHA!”

“R-really!”

“Maybe, I am sure everyone wants to see your growth later.” He laughed while patting Alaric on the back, “Tell ya what, I’ll give you this sword here to practice and fight with, and I will see about getting something a little better for ya.”

“Yes!” Alaric answered while reciving the slightly larger practice weapon.

Alaric stretched his limbs as he made his way over to the small hut that was his home. Outside was of course a boy taking an axe to wood, the two looking at one another with a sigh.

“So, how was today’s building?” Hespert asked while setting his axe down.

“It was fun, the Foreman gave me this!” The other kid smiled while showing his Half-Brother a wooden sword.

“Oh thats cool! Are you going to join the militia?”

“I don’t see why I wouldn’t.” The kid said with a smile, “Most of the big guys I work with are in the Militia so theres not much of a difference. What about you?”

“I… don’t know.” Hespert said with a shaky smile on his face, “Its pretty dangerous, and I’ll be the only person who will be taking care of Mother at the end of the day.”

“Yeah, I guess thats right…” Alaric shook his head at the ideas coming to his head, “That does not matter, want to head out and do something? Maybe head out and check out the Forest?”

“Thats… sure why not.” Hespert corrected himself as he got out his axe, “Lead the way.”

With a smile Alaric did exactly that, quickly running off with Hespert at his back.

They two have of course been out of the village before. For Alaric it was a common occurance thanks to his job helping out the builders. For Hespert it was getting firewood for the pire.

“Which direction do you think treasure lies, Brother!” Alaric called out as he leaped onto a dead tree stump.

“Forward, I think.” The kid sheepishly lifted his axe in declaration.

“Then that is exactly what we shall do!” Alaric kid while hopping off the stump and moving in that direction.

Within a few minutes the land around the boys changed. No longer were they wondering in the lands claimed by their tribe but those just outside of it. For the most part these were safe, but not many men had wondered in this direction.

“Hey, brother, I think we should go back.” Hespert said as he looked about the area.

“Oh come on, you always do this.” Alaric answered back while brandishing his sword, “Look, we both have weapons.”

“But they are both basically made of wood.”

“Agh.” Alaric simply shook his head as he looked ahead, something catching his eye.

“Oh that looks spooky.” Alaric admitted as he was drawn away from his conversation with his brother towards a relatively simple looking but old cave.

“I… don’t know. I don’t remember anyone talking about a cave before.” Hespert admitted as he gingerly started to walk back, “We should just head back and tell someone. This is too much for us.”

“What are you, chicken?” Alaric asked with a devilish grin, “Get some twigs together and start a torch. Finders keepers when it comes to old loot.”

“You really think we will find something in there?”

“Why not, looks old enough.”

“F-fine.” Hespert walked around the place for a moment and got a variety of things together. Soon the two boys were equipped with a torch in their off hand, and slowly they made their way forward into the mouth.

Walking in the first thing Alaric noticed was the sheer amount of weeds and fungus that was growing in there. Bones of beasts who came here before were also strung about the place, making something of a dangerous but wonderous feeling in his stomach.

“W-we should really go back!” Hespert said again, though this time Alaric was not listening to him. No, he was smiling with a childish grin.

As they moved forward, the amount of growth was starting to ebb away and be replaced with just bare rock. However even with their childish eyes Alaric noticed something was off about the rock.

“Hey, don’t you think things have been too smooth?”

“OF course it has, now lets get out of here!” Hespert almost cried as Alaric shined his torched at the wall.

However as he did so, the lights danced across the wall, “W-what is that there.”

“What!”

“Its some sort of… bracket?” Alaric said as he finally made it over and got a good look a the thing.

It was a sort of bronze color, dimly shinning as it was covered with soot and sulfur. He had only seen these things from when treasure came from the raiding parties down south, and never in his life did he expect to see something like this here.

“This is better than I could ever imagine.” He called out while brushing the waste off the mount.

Alaric thought to himself for a moment, before turning towards Hespert, “Look, if you really want to go just hang outside.”

“S-sure!” He said almost elated as he turned around, “I’ll be waiting for you!”

And like that he was gone, the light belonging to him slowly fading away as he ran the opposite way of adventure.

“Why do I even hang out with you.” Alaric half heartedly cursed as he turned around and continued his path forward.

As he advanced further and further in, the evidence of weathering had slowly ebbed away leaving in its stead a series of straight and flat walls. That mount that Alaric noticed earlier was not a fleeting thing, but instead a piece of a much greater realm of art.

All about him were walls made of stone, each of them having a slightly differnt look to themselves. Upon them he quickly recognized something resembling a face, his flame uncovering the large beard the faces possessed.

“D-Dwarfs!” He almost cried out in surprise as he looked at the massive face etched into the wall. While it looked crude, he could not shake the feeling that the face was looking down upon him to be judged.

That was when a wave of something hit him, a sickening feeling that he had never before experienced in his life. Wielding his sword tightly, the child waved the fire across what he realized was a series of skeletons lying upon the ground.

“Trespasser” “invader”

He could feel his hair rise on his back as he wielded the weapon in his hand.

“trespasser” “poucher” “interloper”

Quickly he backed away, the skeletons suddenly growing up as they became animated. Alaric’s eyes widened as he began to realize what was happening.

“you shall pay for your encroachment.”

The Skeletons raised a series of weapons, each looking barely corroded. They were in his path of escape, leaving the boy to only two options.

Yell for Hesbert to run, no time to explain just yell "HESBERT RUN!" He will hopefully go tell Stridder and I doubt Orion wants a weeping concubine, we may not be her blood but she still raised us since our "birth" as her first child
Not to be metagamey but we know we will survive in the end to rule, it may not be over the horde but we will rule something, we need to stay headstrong and forge our legacy, this could be the turning point for us in Orions eyes, seeing us run away after releasing a crypt of Dwarven skeletons isn't the look we should go for. Alaric looked from one side to the other, seeing no chance for him to escape. A curse to himself, not realizing where exactly he was walking himself into. However, there was really nothing else he could do.

“HESPERT!” He yelled at the top of his lungs, “RUN!”

He got no response, but hoped that his halfbrother would at least come back to help him. Either way, he quickly turned towards the other direction, rushing into the darkness of whatever place he had landed himself.

“ignorant mortal.”

He did not pay attention to the voice, simply running his way through the desecrated halls of what was surely a great civilization years ago. Death and stone was all around him, and the mystery of this place was slowly growing more and more upon him.

Soon though he saw a cold blue light, and quickly did the child sprint towards it just for a little reprieval from the darkness. As he ran, he noticed the signs of what must have been a great battle and the ruins of several barricades across the area.

The room he arrived to looked to be massive, a massive blue crystal hanging from the ceiling to illuminate the numerous corpses that were strung about the walls. They all looked to be crushed and mashed in some way, but they were unmistakably skeletons.

“You shall die just as those before you.”

Just as the voice spoke, the numerous skeletons began to move about. However they were not becoming a variety of different creatures, but instead becoming blobbed together.

Alaric looked off to the side, his eyes seeing that while he probably could not run the way he came, there were now several more ways.

Alaric took a few steps back, his eyes dancing as the creature made from several corpses began to move about and around each other. Pieces going into one another as they started to form what was surely a monster of monstrous proportions.

Such a primal fear he was experiencing, one that would surely stun any man and lead to their death.

However that was not what was to happen, as Alaric felt the pain at the nape of his neck.

If he died here, he would not get his revenge against Pol.

Indeed, it was stubbornness that caused him to move his feet and run off to the side. A life damning slight against him that even years later always ached upon his body.

So he ran off, his feet carrying him to the right, towards the grand entrance to what he quickly realised was the throne room of a great king. A golden crystal prominently shined above it, a throne elevated above his head. Quickly he ran. He ran towards the stone throne of the old dwarven kings.

There were skeletons strung all about him as the child looked from one place to another. At every step was a skeleton, each with a weapon of quality he had never seen before. As he went higher and higher, the quality only improved as they changed from picks to spears to swords.

As he reached the top, he noticed a grand weapon stabbed into the floor before the throne. Upon it was the grip of a skeleton who long ago used it. Alaric knew this was the last stand of the dwarfs of this keep, a place where they fought to the last man against a threat he never knew existed.

“There you are, MORTAL!”

The earth beneath his feet began to shake as Alaric turned to see a massive form, skeletons coming together to create a massive creature the size of three horses. Its claws dug into the frame of the entrance as it advanced with red beady eyes.

As he turned, he saw a slight glow from the weapon as began to second guess himself.

That second guess however did not last very long, as the pain upon his neck once again flared up. For years he had to experience such pain, and even now he feels its effects on his body. Restless nights and times where he was forced to fight his way to stand was enough to cause him eternal misery. So with this, he gripped the sword so he could have revenge.

“Another grabs the King’s, and you have a fire in your belly!” A ghostly laugh echoed in his head as Alaric’s grip tightened upon the weapon, “Now that grudge isn’t the most fearsome I’ve seen, but it's been long enough since we’ve felt such fire. Pull boy pull!”

Spurred on, Alaric placed all his strength into the weapon. Slowly it moved, and the area around him began to shine as the massive creature took a few steps back.

“Finally we are free! Damn that bitch of a demon!”

Alaric watched as the skeletons had all gained a blue hue about them, the ghostly figures of fallen warriors rising as he felt his heart lurch, “W-what in the world!?”

“Hmm, well you don’t look too much like a Dwarf. No, you’re no Dwarf at all!” The ghostly figure of the nearby King said as he finally stood up, “Boy, are you here with any of our brotherin?”

“N-no sir! Y-you’re ghosts!”

“Indeed we are kinda pesky if you think about it. Here we were slain by that monster, and thanks to its magic we were not able to leave!” The ghost said as he pointed towards the skeletal dragon as it slowly picked itself up, “Now you don’t have the greatest of grudges, but a grudge is a slight upon you and all who have wielded my Sword of Kings! And it's the same in reverse, you have inherited our grudges as well!”

Alaric felt the weapon in his hand grow lighter, starting to change from a simple bronze sword to a golden design, “You want me to settle yours against this monster?”

“Of course, that mother fucker killed my entire keep anyways!” He announced while pointing to his men, “Now come on men, for we are already dead! We have no more fear, for now death itself does not matter!!”

And like that the ghostly host cheered around Alaric, as he steadily rose the sword that was many times his own size, “Y-yeah! Lets fuck this bastard up!”

“INSOLENCE! I SHALL EAT ALL OF YOU!” The skeletal dragon announced as he began to charge up the staircase.

“CHARGE!!”

And with a battle cry, everyone including Alaric went forward towards the monstrous foe.

Ghostly blade and bone soon came together in match. The blades of the dwarves, while etherial in nature, was enough to drive themselves into the boney flesh of the creature. However, just as they were digging in for the long fight the monster took its limbs and struck them against several of the ghostly figures; sending them flying to the walls of the throne room.

“HYAAA!” Cried out Alaric as he brought the blade to bear against the monster. With a searing flame of vengeance the blade went into the creature’s leg to cleave through a series of bone from fallen Dwarfs.

“You fools shall lose just as you have before!”

“Never bitch of the dead!” Cried out the Dwarven king as he brought a mightly blade that bashed into the creature’s skull. Such a blast reverberated through the skeleton, the limb that Alaric carved into shattering in shrapnel.

Without any way to keep itself straight, the giant creature fell into a tumble down the steps. It gave Alaric a small moment’s reprise, his heart beating as such a little body like his own was already performing feats that mortal men would find impossible.

“I shall rend your souls into nothing!”

With a cry, the beast’s mouth turned towards the steps where the ghost of the King stood. To Alaric’s mortal body, there was no time for flight as the ghostly flames began to ascend the staircase.

“Damnable fool we were, you shall not die as I had!” The Dwarven King cried as he grabbed Alaric by the collar, “Know today High King Fortag saved your life, boy! Remember my name so that I live on!”

With a great throw Alaric was thrown up towards the top of the throne, landing behind it as ghostly flames consumed all.

It was a primal fear to live that kept Alaric back, his childish eyes gazing upon the fiery pits of hell. There was a battle cry, but soon that too was consumed by the flames as a monsterous laugh came from below.

“It was simple to kill you again, Dwarf. Your soul is nothing, and soon your men shall be my food!”

Looking off to the side, Alaric could see the numerous ghosts staring at sheer dispare where their grand king once stood. Even if the being was already dead, to have their leader die a second death was nothing more than damning to the moral of men and ghosts alike.

He had to do something

>Charge at the creature, a desire for revenge burning!
>A rousing speech just like their Lord, for Alaric holds the Sword of Kings!
You know, I would add a third option, but that would be too cowardly for this moment.

I don't expect Alaric to give the best speech as he is still just a boy, but his frequent visits to the spot where he can eavesdrop on Orion and the men should help him a bit. He may not be a dwarf but at his size he holds himself probably as tall if not a little taller so they hopefully won't be too off put by his hairless face.

“N-NO!” Alaric announced as he stood at the top of the throne, “E-EVERYONE, SHE’S BEEN HERE FOR TOO LONG! LETS END IT NOW, LETS KICK HER ASS OUT OF HERE!”

There was a silence after his words, the simple fact he was able to cry out like so was a miracle in and of itself. However there started to be a laugh, with several of the ghosts soon getting up from their craters.

“Speaking words of truth boy! We should kick her ass!” One of them laughed as he raised his weapon, “Come on men, lets fuck this bitch!”

“Damnable Mortals! I should kill you first!”

With a damning cry the skeletal creature ran its way towards Alaric, using three legs to carry itself up this time instead of the four. Without good balance, it was forced to take all the damage that numerous dwarven ghosts came to inflict.

“Oh shit oh shit!” Alaric cursed himself as the beast finally got to a point where it could reach forward for a bite against him. He rolled out of the way, his body almost falling off if it was not for the quick grip of another dwarf.

“Up you go there fellow, you’re not falling off yet!” He laughed as Alaric was sent sailing back onto the throne’s plateform.

There was a deep growl coming from the monster, its mawl coming right for Alaric. However this time he did not dodge, but instead took the chance to swipe a blow right against its numerous teeth. And like butter to a hot knife, it was a clean cut.

“Guh, Damnable creature!” the monster cried. However with the numerous warriors upon her the being composed of bones was starting to crumble under the weight of dwarven vengeance.

Its life was coming to an end.

“HYAAA!”

“Die monster!”

The cries of several dwarfs announced their intentions as Alaric took a moment to brace with his sword. The Sword of Kings, as High King Fortage call it, was stupidly large for his frame. However such a weapon was still powerful, and he needed to wield it once again.

“Three.” Alaric focused on the crying creature as it tried to bite into the several dwarven ghosts.

“Two.” The sword’s edge glowed deeply with a hateful red shine.

“One.” Alaric set the weapon to the side as his legs bent.

“HYAAAAA!” And like a bull Alaric charged his way towards the despicable monster, the weapon barely slowing his childish body down as ran and jumped as high as he could. His feet landed true, the creature’s flayling head underneath them/

“Damn you.” The creature growled as it looked as Alaric with a devilish glare.

“For Fortage!” Alaric announced, sunking the blade right into the skull.

He stood there for a moment, the body of the dreadful drake sitting still as it was too dead to experience a death throw. Instead it started to ebb away, turning into a spectral dust. Alaric of course fell as it become like sand but the sturdy hand of a ghost was snared him by the collar as he almost fell onto the ground.

“There ya go boy.” The large dwarf announced while taking Alaric and placing him on the steps, “That was good fighting, almost good enough to be a Dwarf, HAHA!”

“Thank you.” The child said as the remaining ghosts surrounded him at the throne.

“You have helped us settle a grudge, child.” the ghost admitted with a smile, “What exactly are ya?”

“H-human.” Alaric called out as he took a few steps back in fear.

“So you’re not a Dwarf, explains why you don’t have a beard.” THe ghost laughed as he pointed towards the blade, “Since we are going to ascend to the next life, that sword there is our gift to you. Any Dwarf who sees it knows what it represents, and will gladly welcome you to their ranks.”

“W-what about this keep?” Alaric said as he looked around.

“This place… well there are no dwarves with you to claim it back. Maybe if you get a few hundred to return, or maybe bring some of your own kind when you’re a King your own people.”

“W-what do you mean?” Alaric almost dared not ask.

“You wield the Sword of Kings, why not aim to become one yourself?” The Dwarf said with a charming smile.

>Yeah, let's aim for that. Yeah!
>If that's the case, I will come back for it when I am King
>I will leave it here, until I can truly stand on my own two feet. (And maybe not have it stolen by other fools)

All we know of Kings is Orion and even then he's just chief, so just having a sword that says we are a king is definitely a boost to our attitude on beating the shit out of Pol and secures our motivations outside of one upping our dickhead half brother
>>

We shall honor them by chiseling their names and the names of their fallen into the walls of this room. Those that fell today shall have their names written twice as the have fought and died twice.

We should hide it somewhere before Orion or someone else comes in while looking for us, plus we will look even more badass if we killed the dragon with our bare hands
>>
Ok, now we are fucked up anons

If Hespert did the think that we wanted and actually bring people to the cave, then they're going to be "OH WOW, A DWARF FORTRESS... AND LOOK, A COOL-ASS SWORD right for Orion and his full fledged sons... The son of that hooker? Nah fuck him, his a kid"

IN THAT CASE, we should tell the Dwarfs that they have to show us some place to hide it, and after we give to their bones a proper burial, if they can protect the sword until we came back for it once we are old enough.

People are going to figure out about this cave, and surely make a home in this place (Unless Orion or someone is superticious and in the end they decide that we will ignore the cave). That's the best we can do, give them a place to rest that can also serve to hide the sword and the Dwarf for keeping it safe and not be taking by any shit-head.

If someone ask because of the screams, we will say we wanted to scare Hespert a little bit and we went far. If someone says that he "saw a walking skeleton", we can say we we're also joking and with the torch, shadows and grabbing the bones we make them think that the skeleton was moving. AND IF SOMEONE FIGHT THE SKELETONS, we say that we came here, grab any normal weapon and also fight them off, win, and suddenly the skeletons stopped attacking.
>>
>>4817101
Or we can say we say a big spider or rat, got scared because we say a skelly (which is mostly true) and claimed it made us bury it and not to tell a living soul.

“Yeah, but I cannot take it. Not yet.” Alaric answered as he tilted the blade towards the Ghost, “I cannot protect the weapon, it will just be taken from me by my peers.”

“That is understandable.” The ghost took the weapon and gave a motion with his hand, “Follow me, Future King. I shall show you our vaults where your inheritance shall be kept.”

Alaric gave a steady nod, soon following a small group of the ghosts as they made their way past the throne and into the bowels of the dungeon. Here evidence of the fighting was about it, which could only give Alaric a question to be asked.

“Uh, sorry for asking, but what exactly was that creature we killed? How did it even get into here?”

“Yes, even I myself does not know of the creature besides what it has done to us.” he admitted as they turned a corner, “However that comes with a word of warning from a fallen keep. Beings of immense power travel the land without issue, and if any of them turn their gaze upon you, you shall face the greatest challenge of your dynasty.”

Alaric gave a nod, “I… will try to remember that. I will remember all of this for sure.”

“You, child, I feel is the start of something great.” The Dwarf announced as they finally turned to see a massive pair of iron doors, “It shall be your Children’s Descendants that need to fear the end of an age, as yours is just starting up. Now remember this symbol.”

The dwarf walked to a small podium that neared the doors, his finger tracing out what Alaric could only describe as a rune. With that done, the door opened to reveal a pedistal with several chests next to it. The Dwarf moved forward, stabbing the blade into the stone.

“And there it shall rest, as will we.” The ghost said as turned to face Alaric, “This is where we part, to tell the Gods of the valiant end of High King Fortag.”

“Is there anything I shall do for him?” Alaric asked as the ghost started to fade, “I should honor him the best that I can!”

“Heh, if you want to honor Fortag you would drink some ale in his honor. In the honor of all of us!” He announced as all the Dwarfs around him began to laugh, “And do not let his name be forgotten, I heard his wish and I ask that you honor it.”

“I understand.” Alaric announced as he pointed towards the sword, “That blade is no longer the Sword of the High King, but the Sword of High King Fortag!”

“A swell idea lad. May you and your people use it to scare all who have wronged you.”

And like that, the ghosts ebbed away.
>>
Alaric walked out of the fault, keeping to memory the jester that was used to open the vault and using it upon the podium again. The massive iron wrought doors soon came to a close, sealing the priceless chests of treasure and the Sword of High King Fortag.

Alaric soon walked through the keep, his mind imaging the place once again filled with life as he walk its great halls. What once was an oppressive atmosphere, was now replaced with a feeling of levity as every skeleton around him seemed to glow with a ghostly glow.

He walked out of the keep, out of the cave that he was in as well. He continued to walk as he made his way back to the village to where his people stayed.

And Alaric never passed a single person.

One two three, one two three.

It has been a few years since that fateful day for Alaric, making him 16 years of age. In such a time he had graduated from a wooden sword to a weapon made of iron, which was likely received from one of the local tribes. As for his size, he had not stopped growing ever since the age of 13, already eclipsing Hespert in size and coming close to the adults when he was just fifteen.

One two three, one two three.

These days he is one of the largest people in the village.

One two THREE!

And with a victorious strike Alaric sliced the dummy he was fighting in two. While it had been taking a beating as the teen danced around it, the damage caused by his greater strike was more than damning.

“I’m getting there, Fortag.” Alaric whispered to himself as he tightened his grip upon the sword, “In two years I will be strong enough to wield your sword myself, without trouble like before.”

The teen took a few breaths, rubbing the back of his head as he did so. There the pain was always there taking its toll on the once childish body of Alaric. Now he was a man but the pain never really seemed to settle. He just learned to deal with it these days.

There were a few steps behind him, and in a moment Alaric turned to face who had come. Maybe it was a no brainer as before him was Hespert, his half-brother.

The teen was a little bit more plump in comparison to Alaric, but then again Alaric was practicing the sword almost every day and helping the Foreman whenever he started to grow bored.

“Brother, its been a while.” Alaric said as his eyes looked down, “Does Stridder want something of me?”

“It's not Mother this time, but Father Orion.” Hespert answered with a small squeak, “He is asking for all his sons to come to him. I heard the Greenskins are nearing our Village.”

Alaric is a man of the people, he works harder then his "brothers" and helps with the workers, Orion and his men are brutal and bullies, the only reason people don't stand up to such a savage is because he makes everyone around him fear him with his strength. “Me, his son? Hespert did your head hit a rock recently or something?” Alaric said with a small growling of anger in his voice, “I am just little more than an animal to him, little more than just a common villager. If he wishes me to fight, then I will be fighting with my fellow villagers, not some offspring given an advantaged position.”

“Hey hey I thought I would spread the word.” Hespert said while taking a few steps back, “If you don’t want to thats fine. If anything really big does come up then I will try and let you know.”

“Yeah, that works.” Alaric said while sheathing his weapon, “Then you are off brother?”

“Y-yeah. See ya.” And with those words Hespert walked away from the training area.

Alaric was kinda aware this could have happened, the simple matter of fact is that Clan Clow failed to kill the Warboss who was leading the war of annihilation against mankind. There was also the fact that for years Orion had been telling the High Chief to shove it claiming he had no men to spare, but enough time had passed that the excuse was void.

So with this knowledge Alaric made his way to the most recent hut to be built. The Foreman and his workers all chatting about as he came on the approach.

“Hey, Alaric!” Cheered the fellow as Alaric was a few yards away from them, “We got somethings over here if you can help us lift it.”

“No time for that friend.” Alaric said to the fellow as he finally made it to them, “I just got word that war is coming upon us, the Greenskins are coming.”

“Is that so…” The men all looked at one another while shaking their heads, “And why are you not with the Chief, as his son you are privileged to lead a troop of men like us.”

“Like it would matter, the man sees me as nothing more than rope tying his and my mother’s clan together.” Alaric said while placing his hand on the other’s shoulder, “I’ve decided if I am to fight, it might as well be along side those who I’ve work with for so long.”

The Foreman gave a chuckle as he returned the jester, “Than it will be an honor fighting alongside you, Alaric.”

“Thanks!”

“Then I guess we need to finish up work here, mind helping us with that?”

“Sure!” Alaric cheered while joining in with the work.
>>
Time went by, the men rolling up the last of the last log onto the structure. Though as Alaric worked here, he could barely believe how small this thing was. Call him spoiled, but his time within the Dwarven fortress made him realise just how far back humanity was.

Just as they were finishing the work, a man a few years older than Alaric came towards the group. A devious smile upon his face, the boy gave a wave as he made it to them, “Foreman Dirtch, good to see my men have already been worked up.”

“Pol…” Alaric said with a small bit of fire in his throat.

“So the rumors are true, we are going to war?” The Foreman asked as his fellows got around him.

“That is true, and my father has decided to put me in charge of everyone here. You included, Ric.” He said with a sadistic snear.

Just give him a knee slapping laugh and say, "Pol, lead us? The old bastard really has gone mad. Oh well if this is what our "mighty chieftain" wants so be it. Say Pol before we head out mind helping us finish this hut?"
The only reason I say this is so we can all laugh at him when he can't lift a log, shithead has never worked a day in his life and likely hasn't seen our massive fucking gains

“Pol, you’re leading us? Has Father gone mad?” Alaric asked with a smirk on his face.

“Of course, as the next Chief I have my rights Ric.” He said with a smirk, “You’re the one who rejected them anyways.”

“Well, before anything else can we-” Alaric was about to finish his teasing, but the Foreman placed a hand on his shoulder.

Soon the man spoke, “It will be an honor working alongside the next Chief, just know you are not so above any of us yet. Your Father has plenty of spares.”

“Guh-!” The fellow looked shocked at the words, but quickly shook his head, “Very well, Dirtch. Anyways we are leaving at Dawn tomorrow, and it will be a few days' journey.”

“Very well, I will make sure my men are fit and we have plenty of food. Make sure you are ready for the journey too, since for many of you it will be your first time going so far.”

The young man above them gave a small humph, before moving away from the group of men.

“Why did you stop me?” Alaric asked as he turned towards the other man.

“Like I said, he has many spares.” He answered with a smile before shaking it, “But honestly do you think your Father sent his heir with just anyone. No he expects us to be more like a retenue to the boy than anything else. Also, it's a good idea to keep your leader in good graces with yourself.”

Alaric looked at the man sharply, the pain in the back of his neck still stinging. However he simply nodded, “When I get my chance.”

“You will when the next Chief is elected.” The Foreman announced with a smile, “While the Child is the current heir, the strongest will always rise to the top from my viewpoint.

“Yeah, got it.” Alaric answered while shaking his head, “What do we need to gather?”

“Well, you see…”

Time went by, as the men quickly gathered a series of meals and ale for the road. Soon it came time to move out.

It was at dawn that they started the walk, and while it was a miserable experience it did not really bother Alaric that much. If he was to best describe how they were traveling, it would be that of a massive blob of men, roughly going towards what he expects to be a coming battlefield.

Since it was nearing the second day of travel, he was starting to become tired of just the constant boredom. Since their ‘leader’ was not around he instead made his way towards where he spotted a known brother a while earlier.

“Hespert, your legs killing you yet?” Alaric said while wrapping his warms around the other’s neck.

“Ugh, yes they are.” The boy said before giving a sharp glance at Alaric, “Why are you over here, you should be with your group!”

“But I wanted to see what my brother was doing.” Alaric admitted with a smile, “Anyways, not like anyone is there to punish me. Pol is missing from the group.”

“Ugh, look I need to set an example for these people, I’m here to lead them!” Hespert pleaded while pointing behind himself to a small mob of people.

“Ah, So you are that high up.” Alaric joked with a smirk, “Anyways, does it not trouble you that none of us are drilling to make sure we know what the fuck we are doing?”

“What are you talking about?”

“Just something I was thinking about, you know, to make sure we are not going to die in the first few minutes of fighting.”

“Look, our aim is to make it to the Gap Mountains, supposedly we are going to meet the High Chief there and learn everything else we are going to do.”

“The High Chief? Huh, I wonder what he is like.”

“We all wonder that.” Hespert said with a huff, “Though Father does not seem to like him much.”

“Maybe he wont be that bad after all.” Alaric joked with a smile.

“Thank the Gods, I think we made it!” Hespert cheered as Alaric looked towards the Horizon.

There were of course mountains over there, but a massive gap was made within the range. Though it might not look much like it, Alaric realized where the name came from.

Even tho I like the "Try and meet the high Chief" option, that can and in two ways. The first will be GTFO by Father (becase how we shit faced him when he called us when the announce of the Greenskins) or the dick wit of his sons. The second option can end with us actually getting known by the High Chief, and either we have a good impresion by our height and constitution, or are we are thrown down because we are the illegimate son of a comcubine. Idk what you guys think

Never before had Alaric seen as many people around him as he see now.

Before him was not a simple village, but a camp full of manpower. To think the High Chief was able to call this many men to war, Alaric started to feel himself lose some breath to the fact.

“Come on, kid.” The Foreman said as he placed a hand on Alaric’s shoulder, “We need to start practicing, make sure you can handle a spear just like the rest of us.”

“Y-yeah. Though can I ask, how many people are here?”

“About five thousand, give or take.” The Foreman said as he guided Alaric to their little part of the encampment.

“Five Thousand… And how many people do we have in our village?”

“About seven hundred.” The man said as they finally made it to the group of veterans.

The bunch of them had within their hands wooden sticks, each of them being carved into a makeshift weapon. Looking upon them Alaric looked down towards his sword. However before he could do anything about that, his leader patted him on the shoulder.

“Look, I know the spear is not glamorous but it's a weapon of the everyman.” He said while giving Alaric a stick that was more like a log, “With enough spears we create an impenetrable wall that no mortal would dare charge into.”

“And what if they do?”

“Then we give them a good stabbing.” He laughed while patting Alaric on the back.

So they continued working, their weapons becoming sharper with every hour. Though Alaric feels he could do much more with a sword, being with his friends and fellows was enough to make the young barbarian feel invincible.

Just as the sun was starting to go down, Alaric saw a face he did not really want to see, “Dirtch, I want you guys ready before the sun has arisen.”

“A little early for that boy.” The Foreman said with a raised brow, “Tomorrow is when they plan to fight right?”

“Yup, but I got us fighting on the flank. So I want us bright and early to get a head start on those greenskins.”

Hearing that, Alaric was not too sure what he should think of that.

Seeing the writing on the wall, Alaric made his way to bed early. There is no reason to be drowsy or weakened when time comes and he is not ready; that will be the most dire.

Night went by and soon day came once again, a bright and sunny day for what is surely to be a dire battle. At least, that is what it seemed like with the way everyone was acting.

It was like comparing a piece of gold to coal, with Pol being the gold and the men being coal. Orderly and without much talking, they marched together with Pol jumping from one place to another trying to figure out where exactly they are.

“We are a few more miles out.” Pol announced as he looked from the top of a nearby rock, “Come on, we don’t want to be late.”

“Late to battle, he doesn’t want.” One of the men said in a whisper towards Alaric. Of course the teen resisted the urge to laugh, though at least it showed the men were not demoralized.

They were just preparing for what was to come.

“Hey, Dirtch, do the Orcs ever send out scouting parties?” Pol asked with a grin on his face.

“I cannot say for I am only a veteran of war, not of leadership.” The Foreman answered with a small sigh.

“Who knows what could happen.” He said with a smirk as they came up to a small opening.

It was kinda a dreadful opening, being that a nice size rock was stiking out against the forest. It was kinda nice, being that it could be much more clear to walk ontop of it against all this damn forest. However, Gods know what would happen if they got caught ontop of it.

“Hmm, well we are making time so we don’t really need to climb this…” Pol said as his eyes looked at the feature.

>Just climb it already, idiot
>Best not put ourselves in the open, even if its higher ground.
>Best not day anything, let the fool do as he wishes.
>Maybe we should prepare for a scouting party, because fuck it someone already jinxed it.

“Pol,” Alaric called out to the fool, “Lets stay here on the floor.”

“Was that you Alaric?” The first Born asked as he turned towards everyone else, “We will go on the rocks, best to keep ourselves above the foe.”

To those words, there was a small grumble coming from the men, especially Alaric who was blatantly mocked just there. However now was not the time for them to fight or murder the kid, that would be the job of the Orcs when they come by.

So with a huff they made a few steps forward, climbing the dreadful rocks so they could get a nice view above the treeline. What Alaric saw was something he did not really want to see.

On the Horizon, where the gaps between the mountains are was a large mob of green. Around it were fumes of smoke, causing the nearby sky to be dimmed. Let it be known that they were basically creating a hellish place where their darkness and evil sits.

“Come on, get a move on.” Pol called out as he started on the trail, “Thats where we shall take battle.”

Alaric did not say anything, instead walking his way around the cliffside. Still just seeing the devistation behind the dreadful bastards was enough to get Alaric’s blood boiling and hair standing. If these fuckers got through the Gap, they were going to overrun humanity.

“To the wall, now!” Was the call that Alaric instinctually reacted to. There was a moment in which he did not know what was happening, however the barks and growls coming to his ears soon alerted him to the menace below.

“G-Greenskins?” The Teen whispered to the nearby Foreman.

“Indeed, and they are on wolfs. Dreadful beasts that will attempt to tear us apart if given the chance. But they have not noticed us it seems.” He said while pointing to a couple of them coming out next to the base of the cliff.

The men, of mortal blood, watched as the terrible beasts walked about sniffing the air. However no matter how active their noses were they did not think to look up. Such was the trouble with their stature and stupidity that led them to ignore the series of men standing at guard above them.

“Thank Tor.” One of the men bellowed out as the sounds of the beasts ebbed away.

“Yeah, thank him.” Pol said as he turned about to face the path, “No one speak of this, understood.”

There was a steady shaking of the heads, most just giving a slight chuckle at their leader’s stupidity. Maybe with the spears they could have taken the beasts. However against that thought Alaric desired not to tire himself before what is surely going to be a battle for his life.

“Come on you all we got a war to be at!” Pol announced with a wave of the hand.

None complained, as soon they started moving forward. While there were the sounds of battle behind them, they did not pay it much heed as none of the men were likely theirs. No, their battle was soon to come.

“We are close.” The Foreman announced as a steady stream of noise started to reach them.

“Then we wait for the horn.” Pol answered with a devilish smirk on his face, “We run in right after the initial assault, got it everyone?”

“Thats what the Head Chief Decided?” The Foreman asked as they settled in for the wait.

“Yes it was, why are you going against his word?”

“No. We are not going to be the only ones right?”

“Unless those riders got to them, there should be at least a thousand of us.

Alaric listened in and thought, the idea of a thousand souls being this sneaking this far is ridiculous. Maybe that was the reason the wolf riders were sent out, to screen for any wayward soldiers.

“Kinda wish we got swords now.” The Foreman called out before tightening his grip on his spear.

Within those words the sound of a great horn was sounded, the earth underneath Alaric beginning to shake. There was a smirk on Pol’s face as he raised his blade, “You all heard it, CHARGE!”

“HYAAA!”

“HAAA!”

“CHARGE!!!”

With those words the small group ran as fast as they could, their feet going through the forest as their mortal legs could take them. Of course going through the woods was not good, but the adrenaline going through their veins was intoxicating.

It was unnaturally so, that much Alaric realized.

Within moments they pierced the forest, their eyes upon a large battle as orc and man fought against each other. Behind them were a few other groups of men, however Alaric knew for sure there were not a thousand men following them into battle.

Seems the Wolf Riders did their damned job to those poor souls.

However soon none of that mattered, as within a minute of running they finally arrived at the battle lines. While for a few moments the army of the high chief was being encircled, the sudden introduction of a few hundred men to the Orc’s flanks was enough to split the fighting.

And in the middle of all that, with his wooden spear in hand, Alaric was fighting with his friends.

“Haha! Kill as many of them as you can!” Pol called out as the man quickly took out a sword and started slicing at the wall of green infront of them.

“Fuckers!” Alaric called out as he took a spear and impaled one of the greenskins, his massive body almost dwarfing that of Alaric. Though the look on the creature’s face told Alaric everything he needed to know about these creatures.

It was smiling.

“That's one!” Alaric called out as he brought the pike out of the one and gave it another jab, “And that's two!”

“You really going to bother counting?” Alaric heard the Foreman call out as he just held his spear in place to keep the orcs away, “Though you’re killing them all in single hits.”

“I’m blessed by Tor, as you said!” Alaric joked as he took the spear and jabbed it through another of those dreadful greenskins, “That makes four!”

Alaric heard a small growl of annoyance off to the side as he stabbed through another’s head, “Are you trying to upstage me, Ric?”

“I just want to know how many I have killed, why, have you not even killed one?”

“I have killed so many I do not need to count.” Pol said as he took the sword and tried to slice into one of their heads. However the beast simply gave a laugh as he took a small dagger thing and tried to swipe it at Pol.

It was kinda funny, watching the young adult fight for his life gave Alaric some good ol’ vibes, there was a tightening in his chest as he thought about something.

Where were those Wolf Riders?

As he thought that Pol finally overpowered the greenskin as he parried the attack and stabbed the fellow in the gut, “Damnable monster! Why did any of you not help me?”

“A little occupied, my liege!” The Foreman joked as he tried his best to stab through one of the Orcs.

“Tsk, and you got an excuse Ric?” He called out while pointing the weapon at the teen.

“I do not know or care, do we know where the damn Wolf Riders are!?” Alaric called out with a nice hint of agency in his voice.

“Those things? Why are you caring about them right now?” The ignorant boy asked.

“That is a good question to both of you!” The Foreman called out as he began to struggle, “HELP US FIGHT THESE BASTARDS!”

“Zogging stop yelling louder dan us!” One of the Orcs called out before the Foreman attempted to stab him in the face.

Alaric thought for a moment about getting back into the action, however another moment’s thought made him look towards the treeline. His eyes only had to wonder for a moment as they were soon met with severl greenskin eyes against him.

They knew that he knew they were there.

And with that stupid thought going through Alaric’s head, they all got up and began charging.

“E-everyone!” Alaric yelled at the top of his lungs, “WE ARE ABOUT TO GET FLANKED!”

The group of laborman turned about to see the group of wolves running in their direction. However the amount of curses that escaped their mouths was enough to cause their mother’s a heart attack.

“FUCK!” Pol yelled at the top of his lungs as he positioned himself towards the riders, “All of you point that way!”

“Like we zogging let you! AHAH!” An Orc announced as he tried to reach for the Foreman

“WE CAN’T!” the Foreman yelled as he forced his spear against the Orc who just spoke, “BY THE GODS WE ARE FUCKED!”

Those were about the only words to describe the situation, as the chargers were now in full sprint. Their rough wooden spears of course we're not going to cause much trouble, but with the speed it was going to be enough to stab right through a man.

He looked around for anything Alaric did, but he did not see any ground for them to give or space. The force of humans that were supposed to flank the greenskins was drawn too thin for them to actually do meaningful defense.

However, for a moment Alaric’s eyes glanced upon the largest man on the field. He was striking down Greenskin as much as Alaric had before. His eyes glanced in their direction, and what he saw made his soul catch fire.

The man simply shook his head as if he was just disappointed. Then a smirk as he looked in Alaric’s direction.

And with that thought, the impact of several Wolf Riders made themselves present upon the people attacking the flank. Without proper support from anyone, Alaric felt his feet lose the ground and began flying through the air like some sick version of a ragdoll. Of course he was not the only one, as everyone else within his group were sent flying into the heart of the greenskin horde.

Fuck men, fucking Pol.

We're behind enemy line and maybe more of the Foremen aren't dead (because hell, we are still alive even after that impact), so the best is if we can save some Foremen, make a small group and break free to our allies line.

Luckly the Greenskins ain't going to be aware of us the first seconds and we can get back to our allies and give them a opening for them to start entering their lines like a Spear.

“FUCKING GREENSKINS!” Yelled Alaric as he rose from his spot and quickly drew his sword, “YOU FUCKING BASTARDS!”

With a warcry the teen started the slaughter of all the Orcs around him. His blade easily slicing through the numerous guards and minions that the warboss brought off against mankind. Alaric’s blade was quickly covered in blood, being worn down with just a few slices of his blade.

“Hey bois!” One of the Orcs laughed as he took up his wooden dagger, “Dis git is fighting a slogging good fight!”

And like that the attention of several Orcs were drawn towards Alaric. This was not good for the fellow, of course, but in his rage he could not really think straight. However he had a goal, that was to find the man who helped him through many years of his life.

With each slice of the blade he killed several men. With each step forward he was trampling on dozens of corpses. However no matter how many he killed Alaric felt he was not making any progress.

It seemed he was the fool. The more he fought the greenskins, the more they wanted to come fight him.

“GET OUT OF MY WAY!” Alaric announced as he bashed a group of bastards away from him.

“He’s zogging serious!” The Orcs announced as they slowly began to back away from the sheer assault of numbers.

It was then Alaric realized the truth of the matter. In a moment’s reprieve he realized that none of them men who he fought with were getting up.

“So dis be the humie whose been clogging up my battlelines.” Alaric turned to see the largest humanoid in his life. It was biggest, greenest, and also the nastiest thing he had ever seen among these greenskin hordes, “Come on ya git, I need to kill ya before I move on to the rest of dem humies.”

“Y-you’re the Warboss?”

“Dats me, Warboss Adgore ya git. Now come on, show dis Warboss your WAAAAAGH!”

“YOU FUCKER!!!” Alaric announced as he grabbed his blade and ran right towards Greenskin Boss, “YOU KILLED THEM!”

“That what you got to say, ya got?” The Orc said while looking quite amused at the human, “Hard to think you keep killing our bois.”

After those words Alaric made it to the Warboss, the creature quickly taking his blade and blocking the attack from Alaric. Soon the two were ingaged in deadly melee combat, though it took no fool to realize who the winner was going to be.

While Alaric had the first strike and first blood, his attack did not make the decisive blow that he was hoping for. The attack had been deflected with a rudimentary but powerful looking sword made of material Alaric barely recognized.

A golden shine, but much tougher than his bronze sword. It was of Dwarf metal, likely stolen from one of their great keeps.

The deflection had easily bent his weapon, but soon the attacks got even worse as Alaric was placed on the defense. The larger and stronger Orc was bashing his superior weapon against Alaric and making his simple bronze weapon bend just out of shape.

“Ahahaha! Look at this git! He was actin’ all that tough earlier and now he is my toy!” The Orc announced as he swiped at Alaric and finally destroyed his sword, “You are a pathetic little humie, just like all your others!”

Alaric soon regreted it, but he looked towards the forces of man. Indeed the force had been routed, the force of men retreating as the Wolf Riders began to destroy the rest of the High Chief’s infantry.

“Now what to do with you?” Warboss Adgore said as he picked Alaric up by his neck, “Should I just stab ya, or feed ya to them wolves for doin’ such a good job?”

Without a moment’s hesitation, Alaric spat in the face of the Warboss. The creature’s eyes sharpening as liquid dribbled on his face.

“Right, I got a better idea. I’m just going to run you up with my sword.” And without another moment’s thought the sword was driven up through Alaric’s belly, and was quickly flung off.

“Bois, we broken into the sweet spot!” The Orc announced as Alaric laid dying on the ground, “Come on, we got some Knife Ears to kill!”

With those words they all began to run off, Alaric feeling cold as he laid there. As he began to sleep, there were only a few thoughts that crossed his mind.

Revenge against his Clan for a life of pain

Revenge against the High Chief, for failing to defeat the Greenskins

Revenge for the man who was like a Father to him.

That pain in the back of his neck never dulled for a moment.
>>
With that we start back up Sunday night! Most of this was impromptu, no all of it was. However you guys made one hell of an idea.
>>
I have no idea what's going on.

Thought the sword was made of stronger stuff than bronze.

Revenge against his Clan for a life of pain

Revenge for the man who was like a Father to him.
That pain in the back of his neck never dulled for a moment.
These are some high level grudges.

Its not the Dwarf sword, but just a sword from the clan

Dammit boyz, I'm all pumped out now
>>
>>4826773
That turned golden? It all wrecked now.

>>4826646
It kind of sucked a little that we had to choose between gains and socializing from time to time, but i get that we didn't want to spend too much time on the smaller details.

Wonder what the Sunday arc will look like.
>>
>>4826773
How many orks do you suppose we killed with the sword and in total?
>>
>>4826800
Quite a few, maybe 30+
>>
>>4826804
That's less than I thought, I mean we held up their entire attack and brought the warboss down on us.
>>
>>4826808
Yeah its rookie numbers, but you all have yet to stop growing and you had a shitty weapon.

Those numbers are going to grow, fast.

Why would I kill you all, this is a Dynastic game we are playing
>>
>>4826815
We just very wounded.

>>4826824
We should go pick up that good sword now as our clans basically fucked, no reason not to have it. Also see if any of the dwarf armor can be refitted for us.
>>
>>4826824
Well we got run through with a giant sword, that tends to kill plenty of folks. I just tend to assume the worst sometimes.

I can now say I am somewhat elated.
>>
>>4826645
We are gonna be a germanic Kratos/conan combo, Struggler against the world, motivated by grudge against unjust reality, he will shape out his own domain from it.
>>
>>4826902
Hey if it misses the organs and they didnt pull it out we probably will be ok. Untill it gets pulled out then we die of blood loss.
>>
Holy shit...

I don't know you guys, but if we're still alive from this and we have some part of our sword, we're going to keep it to make a dagger or Spear and stab that Warboss to death if we encounter him again.
>>
>>4826645
>>4826646

Alaric has several grudges to complete. And the Foreman is gone, Now is the time for blood, maybe we could save our tribe ? But honestly Alaric will not have time for save them with a deep wound on his belly.
>>
>>4827059
Some of the men could be playing dead.
I hate myself for saying this because now pol might live but I want at least the foreman or some of our work buddies to survive.
