Once humanity was pushed back, their backs between the ocean and an Orcish invasion. However deep behind the lines of the Orcs a valiant man came up from the wastes of the fallen and pushing himself to kill the Warboss Adgore.

Alaric the Orcslayer, Grudgebearer, and High Chief of the East. With the destruction of the Warboss, it is about time that you decide what will a people who were always on the run do now.

>>RULES<<
> Vote with Greentext, otherwise I will ignore it.
>Write in as acceptable as long as they follow the rule above. If its clever enough I might even add some of it to the result elected
>Normally here I would say something like, ‘be kind’, but this is 4chan so I wont even bother making it a rule.
>Don’t be afraid to discuss things, just remember that there are some limitations thanks to both culture and technology. Hell, you guys could discuss whether it's better to make a Holy Roman Empire Electoral System or just go Partition.

Alright, time to get started.
>>
The battle was bloody and harsh. More than half of the humans who attacked from above died as they ferociously marched their way into the bowels of the Fortress, and the same went for the dwarfs. However even with all that in mind, there was no Orc living in the Fortress anymore.

And with that, the entire continent seemed to let out a sigh of relief.

“Congrats Alaric, you really are the true wielder of the High King’s sword.” the Deep King Stog said as they stood at the steps of the throne.

“Thank you, I think.” The High Chief and Orcsbane said as they both looked up towards the throne.

“So I heard that you have quite a few people there uptop, whats the plan for all of them?” The Dwarf asked as he gave a little laugh.

“I cannot really say.” Alaric was honest as he could be, “With the Warboss dead, I guess we can go around and hunt more Orcs.”

“Hmm, well hear me out before you go chasing the stragglers of a slaughtered horde.” The Dwarf patted Alaric on the back with a smirk, “Have you ever thought about settling your people down?”

“Settling down?” Alaric felt his brow furrow at the Dwarf’s antics.

“Yes, settle down and make a city out of yourselves.” The Dwarf laughed, “You were bright enough to catch on the secrets of forging Iron it seems, I don’t see why you can’t give staying in one place a try.”

“What about food? I have enough people here that we will run the land dry in a few years.”

“Now thats if you were focused on foraging your food, but what if ya grew it all instead?”

Alaric felt himself be a little hesitant, “Sort of like how your mushroom gardens are?”

“Yeah, if you grow your own food than there is no need to run around getting more of it. With it you can also make strong walls just like these right here, and pillage the earth for her plunder.” Stog’s eyes were lit as he showed off the room they were in, “Look, there are not enough dwarfs in my fortress to make a real occupying force. However with all those people, those humans, you brought with you can really fill this place out.”

“And I take it you will help me with this?” Alaric asked the dealing dwarf.

“As long as you give my people the underground, where they can mine to their heart’s content, we can both make you materials as well as teach you the ways of staying in one place.” He extended his hand out to Alaric with a smile, “So, what do you say?”

>Sounds like a good deal, Stog

We can build more than one city, and having a underground bunker beneath the city is of great strategic value.

Question QM, did the elves help us at all? Weren't the elves facing down the hordes themselves?

Are the Orcs entirely extinct as a race? I'd think there are a few Lower level mini warbosses left to pick up the pieces and a few thousand of them spread around, after all we never really hit their settlements and population centers or encountered Orc womenfolk.

Orcs are not extinct, only massively degraded and if you choose shall be extinct on the continent. Orcs infests where ever there is no civilization.

“Stog, you have been good to me.” Alaric told the fellow while extending his hand to meet the others, “This won't be like the old ways of my people, but that gave me a blade to the gut and scattered the tribes West. This, this might give us a seat of power.”

“Then I am glad to hear that, Friend.” The Dwarf answered while giving a hand towards the throne, “Come, equal, the throne is yours. And with it you shall attain a title worthy of it.”

“Are you sure?” Alaric felt a little hesitant as he brushed his hand against High King Fortage’s sword.

“I’ll be honest, I won’t see you as the Dwarven High King above me, but don’t you think it makes a little more sense to have a High King of the Surface and Deep King of the Earth?” Stog joked with a small chuckle to himself.

Alaric could not help but laugh as he ascended the steps towards the top. There stood the golden throne of previous Dwarven Kings, which really might be a little small for Alairc. However the Man did not care much for it, as this was the seat of power for the entire keep.

He did not know how the future would pan out after this, but he knew the future of his people relied on him using this power wisely.

And with a little hesitation, he finally took a seat on the Throne.

Almost a moment later he could feel his soul elate, as if he had finally achieved something he had been trying to get for his entire life. Through hard work and dedication he had surpassed his foolish father and became a ruler of men. As he finally got a moment to rest, the pain that was forever in his stomach had ebbed away like it was never there before, however even now Alaric could feel the pain in the nape of his neck.

“If I had a drink I would cheer for you and your Children!” The Dwarf joked as he stood next to Alaric, “Well would you look at that, High King, not even a minute on the Throne and someone is already coming up to us.”

“Estus.” Alaric said as he looked towards the masked Shaman, “Thank you for your work taking this place.”

“Indeed, though I see you are already taking up Dwarven customs.” The masked man pointed out while extending his hand, “I have done my part, Alaric. Now give me the amulet.”

"I am still a young ruler and leader, and i do need all the help and wisdom of great men. As well trusted men, and i have been lucky enough that you are both of them."
"I would give you an home, wives, an horse and food. As well other things you may need. And more importantly i would give you a new rank, the rank of High Shaman. From now on, you will teach and lead others that posses the gift of magic like you, as well help me against any magical creatures or spirits. You would be even one of my advisers, above even clan leaders."

“As agreed upon, here is the amulet.” Alaric said as he brought it out of his pocket, “However as I hand this to you, would you mind listening to the words that I have to say?”

“I am already your captive audience.” Estus answered as he took a few steps forward to make it to Alaric.

“Very well, Friend Estus, I know you are a good and able man through the season we have spent together.” Alaric started with a smile, “Would you not have an interest in staying here?”

The man made it up the stairs as he responded, “I know that, and while I have considered it there is no reason for me to stay.”

“There are two.” Alaric stated as he dangled the amulet for Estus to grab, “I am a young ruler for my people, and I need wise men to guide me. I feel I can trust you enough to give me advise a great many things that I have no clue about. With such a position, you will be granted a home, women, and maybe even a few beasts to your name.”

Estus took the amulet from Alaric’s hands, “And the second?”

“As the High Shaman of my court, you will be able to teach our people your ways in magic. People with gifts such as yours will help us incase creatures like spirits or monsters come along.” Alaric started with a small smile on his face, “You did say this amulet was from the Gods. You must wonder why they gave it to me.”

“So you wish for me to give my secrets of the arcane to the greater bit of mankind?” He asked while looking at the amulet, “I could care less about women and beasts, for my aim is unlocking the secrets of the world.”

“But without a position your voice will never be heard, and without students your research might be lost to all of mankind once you die.”

While the man’s face was covered in a mask, he seemed to be chewing upon those words tenderly. However soon he answered it, “Very well, I will stay. However I shall not be annoyed by whatever else happens in the Clan, understood?”

“Its not a clan but a Fortress, human.” Stog said with a small smirk.

“Fine, Fortress.” He answered back while extending his hand to Alaric.

“Welcome to the Clan, High Shaman Estus.” And with those words they shaked on it.

“Now that you have taken care of your first subject, best figure out what the rest will be doing.” Stog chuckled to himself as he got before Alaric, “You will learn, boy, but your word makes things move within the city. If you tell your people to build a new mine shaft, they will do exactly that.”

“So where are you going?” Alaric asked the Dwarven King.

“I’m telling you, figure out what your citizens need to be working on for the next few years. Just like how I told my people to prepare for war, you must tell your own what they should be preparing for and focus on.”

Clear the lands, make a wall, the rest will follow and flock to within and outside the walls for safety and security, walls and defenses which we will constantly improve and expand.

Build a wizard tower in a reasonable secluded area but within sight of the new fortress, ideally a 10 or 15 minute brisk walk through a dirt path distance.

“I… never of things like that.” Alaric admitted as he tapped his chair, “And this is quite the decision you’ve placed on me.”

“Well my apologies if it is abrupt but shit like this will happen all the time.” Stog answered as he shook his head, “You won’t need to prepare any arms though, since my Fortress can do a much better job than your people.”

“Reassuring.” Alaric’s tone was barred with sarcasm, but it got a nice laugh out of the dwarf as he kept thinking, “Estus, how long do you think the land will last. Really?”

“With the amount of people upon this land, there will not be a wild beast or berry within a few years.” He answered as he looked towards Stog, “So you will give us the secrets of agriculture?”

“Of course, thats no big deal really.” He shook his head to stop his chuckling, “As long as your people don’t teach the Orcs we should be fine. I hate to see what happens if they figure out how to move earth.”

“Secret of Agriculture?” Alaric felt his brow rise at those words, “What are you talking about?”

“In the world there are secrets, such as those of magic and others of life. Things like the secrets to riding held by the Orcs or the taming of animals by some of our tribes.” The High Shaman said as he gripped the amulet, “While they can each be discovered, a wiser people can teach another and thus all will learn of it at some point.”

“Eh, I wouldn’t really worry much about it.” Stog said as he took out a small shroom from his pouch, “You gotta wonder sometimes if all that is nonsense or something. But hey, maybe I can see it happen myself!”

“Then we will focus on getting food.” Alaric determined with a firmness in his voice, “If we starve, then there will be no Fortress of Man.”

“Well then your word has been spoken, I’ll tell my dwarves about it and see if they can salvage some seeds from our old shipments from the Elves.” Stog answered as he started to move, “You see mighty enough to handle a keep by yourself, friend, so I will be heading out. I’ll be sure to send someone over to help ya.”

“Thank you Stog.” Alaric said as he looked over the ruins of his chamber, “I will need to look into getting things cleaned.”

“And while you do that, I will find a chamber for myself.” Estus said as he too descended from the top of the throne room.

Alaric felt himself relax, his body just that little bit less tense as he no longer felt the pain in his gut. However that pain on his nape stayed there, always reminding him that he still had a foe he must face.
>>
“THERE YOU ARE!” Alaric looked up to see one of his wives running up the stairs to him, “I was wondering where you were!”

“I was fighting Materia. Is there a problem?” Alaric said as he lazed further in his chair.

“Of course, you have plenty of wounds from what I can see. So that means you need some rest too.” She said while walking up to Alaric and kneeling down to him, “So get up, I’m taking you to someplace less bloody.”

“You really want to leave this place now?” Alaric asked as he made a wave of his hand, “This place is mine, my fortress against the world.”

“It is…” The girl, who was about the same age as Alaric looked around for maybe the first time in here, “It is magnificent. So I take it you want to be treated here or something?”

“I think there are some rooms back there.” Alaric answered as he pointed to a door behind the throne, “I’m able enough, we can atleast look for some new chambers.”

“Hmm… sure, if you can still stand.” She said while trying her best to help Alaric up, “Once we get the blood off you and you’ve rested, maybe we can use the quarters while they are still secret.”

“I don’t see why not.”

>Try and learn how to rule.
Self improvement, seeing the sovereign as the center of everything when it comes to ancient times. Better rulership means things are better for everyone.

Hedonism, indulging in the lifestyle of a debauchery and such.

Time went by like the wind for Alaric. When he was barely an adult he had slaughtered a great many Orcs and carved out a slab of the world for himself and those who followed him. Sitting upon his throne, the hold around him has changed from a once damp darkness to a modest place to actually call a home.

“Ah, Orcsbane.” The Dwarf Advisor named Hev said as he made it to the throne, “You’re here much earlier than usual.”

“Thats only because I was woken up early this morning.” Alaric answered as he gave a small chuckle, “Matria’s baby was pretty pretty quite, however this morning it wanted to raise a little hell against me.”

“Think it would be because you fucked its mother?”

“If I didn’t do that it would not be alive.”

“You tell him that next time you see the baby.” Hev joked as he shook his head, “How many kids you got kicking around now?”

“Three boys, One to Matria, another to her sister and the last to Ria. I have four girls and two more on the way.” Alaric pointed out as he gave a smirk.

“Quite the bounty I say then.” The Dwarf answered as he looked over the room, “But arn’t you a little worried you might get too many?”

“What do you mean?” Alaric said as he raised his brow.

“Even as your people start to expand and settle all the nearby lands, there might be too many children to keep the realm strong.” The Dwarf said as he gave a huff, “You see, almost all the Dwarven Kings once descended from Kosk, King of the Beginning. After his death, the land was divided between his ten Children, each residing in one of the ten mountain ranges of the world. While most saw eachother as equal, they were to bow to the Primordial King.”

Alaric’s brow furrowed however he did not stop the dwarf, “Continue.”

“Even when they were brothers, the Mountain Thorns broke off almost immediately after the First King’s death. The end of the first Dwarven Era was when the Primordial King was slain not by Orcs, but by his own kin looking to rid themselves of him.”

“So you are suggesting I have less kids?”

“An heir and a spare is enough, as we Dwarves say these days.”

>Sure, maybe time we cut back.

HRE had some horrible inherent flaws so I'm not sure if that's a great idea.
The constant conflict between the pope and the emperor is maybe the one we don't have but we can still fall victim to member states having too much autonomy, often leading to members acting against the interests of the emperor or foreign monarchs also being rulers of member states.
Personally, I'm more of a fan of the japanese approach of enabling women to technically be emperor but having their husbands as regents, ensuring an unbroken line.

“Hev, while I value your advise I believe in the opposite of that.” Alaric said as he pointed to himself, “For every child that I get, means that my line will not only last longer but those who shall rule it.”

“You’re not afraid of what will happen after?”

“That is something for another time, as we prepare ourselves for it.” Alaric admitted as he thought to himself, “And in any case, it seems there are a few more people settling down near the riverbed.”

“Indeed.” The Dwarf answered as he straightened himself, “While the starting crops have been pitiful, it seems that our most recent crop has grown large enough that the fortress can be fed. Though it takes the entire fortress to farm those lands.”

“Still the plows Stog gave us have been a good help.” Alaric mentioned, “With a few of our beasts we were able to make the work of ten men with that.”

“It is sad that we do not have ten oxen like those.” The Dwarf mentioned.

“With that known, has anything else come up?” Alaric asked with a small ponder to himself.

“I think I know of one.” Matria, Alaric’s second but most able wife called out as she walked up with a child in her hands, “Leaving all by myself to take care of your child, how rude~!”

“Well I don’t… really know what to do for him.” Alaric admitted while scratching his wounded eye.

“Maybe you will value your child more if you gave him a more proper name.” She said back to him.

“Maybe, however you also call him child.”

“Well thats just because I have not been able to corner you about it.” She fired back with a pout, “Come on, he is your first. Surely we can both come up with a good one together.”

>We need to name not only him, but the second and third child of Alaric’s. Do it or I will make them silly.

Alaric looked at the child that was cradled in his Wife’s arms for a moment, thinking to himself, “How about we name him… Theoric.”

“Theoric, why that?”

“Just a name I thought of.” Alaric admitted as he leaned back and looked at the child, “Theoric seems just a name for him to possess.”

The woman seemed to think to herself as she raised the child before her, “Very well, your name is Theoric, how do you like that?”

The child, being a child, simply gave a smile as it was given possession of the first thing it ever had in life.

“Now that that is taken care of, why doesn’t your father hold you?” She launched on Alaric by quickly placing the child on his lap.

“Hey now, why are you-”

“Now now, you should take care of your children. Lest they end up just like you.”

Alaric looked at her for a moment, then back to the child. The little thing seemed content to just sit on his lap and look out at the mobs of people running around. Such an odd fellow, “Fine, he can stay here.”

“Be sure to bring him back later then.” Matria said as she walked down the steps, “I need to clean some things, but don’t be late for dinner, understand?”

“Of course, I would not miss it for the world.” Alaric joked as he watched her walk down the steps.

With a little time given, Alaric played a little with his child as he let it grab his finger. Due to his immense size, the little guy was barely able to wrap his hands around it. It was honestly really funny to watch.

The moment of laxness was given, however with it Alaric felt a small bit of pain. Well he would not say it was pain, more akin to being out of breath than anything else. Sometimes his body was like this, where he barely even moved a muscle but it felt like he just fought a grand battle.

“High Chief!” A man called out as he quickly ascended the steps, “Some of the clansmen came back from the west, they bring news of a tribe nearby.”

“Of our people?”

“Yes, sir!” The person answered as he seemed out of breath too, “What should we do about them?”

“We are not enemies of man, introduce us and ask them to come before me.” Alaric said to the fellow as he made sure his child was balanced on a single leg.

“Understood sir!” the soldier answered before running down the steps back into the realm proper.

Time went by, and Alaric had to think to himself for a little bit. Maybe he should go visit Estus and see if the fellow could check up on these breathing problems. It would not be good if they just kept happening. But, that was for another time, as Alaric’s eyes glazed upon a strong looking fellow looking both confused and walking up the steps.

“Hail, child of man!” Hev the Dwarf announced as the person slowly moved up, “You have come to the court of High King Alaric, wielder of Fortage’s Sword! State your name, so that we may learn who you are and from where.”

“Axel, I… come from the West!” The fellow answered as he looked around for a few more moments, “Where am I?”

“You are in my fortress, known to the Dwarfs as either Heskle or the Fortress of Man. I have yet to decide which one to use myself.” Alaric called out as he looked over the fellow, “As to how I got it, I have slain Warboss Adgore.”

“Y-You killed the Warboss!” The Captain’s eyes widened as he heard those words, “W-what do you want of me? If you desire my people to not be upon your land I understand as its your right as Adgore’s slayer.”

“That is easy, fellow man.” Alaric almost laughed as he looked over the fellow with a widening smile, “However before I answer that, may I ask you about your people and why you have come this direction?”

“My clan is that of the Clows.” The man answered as Alaric noticed a small bird embroiled upon the man’s clothing, “And we have come this direction because the Orcs have stopped coming at us.”

“So they have?”

“They have, so we saw no reason to stay where we were at.” The fellow looked upon Alaric, trying to recover from the scene a few moments ago, “We were curious as to why they were gone, and decided to make our way over to see it.”

“I have simply put the fear of death into the Orc and taught them we humans shall no longer be trampled upon.” Alaric said to him, “So I take it the High Chief has yet to come this way as well?”

“He cares little for us, and will not stir as we further ourselves from him. He would only care if someone starts stealing his women.” The man answered as he looked upon Alaric, “Do you fear retribution for taking his spot?”

“I simply wish to know where the bastard is, he is the bastard who failed to beat back Adgore at the Mountain Gap.”

“Thats indeed a blunder of his, and whatever you do to him I think would be warrented.” The fellow answered as he looked at Alaric, “Is there anything else you need from me?”

“Two more things, first I wish to know where the Teeks are.”

“Those idiots?” The man shook his head as he looked at Alaric, “We’ve broken ties with them a few years ago after that disastrous battle. Last I heard the Chief has died and the oldest has taken his position.”

“Do you know his name?” Alaric said as his eyes narrowed upon the man.

“Pol the Lucky, I believe his name was.”

Alaric felt his blood pump, the only thing keeping him upon his chair was the child resting upon his knee. The pain in his neck, so ever present it is, became only stronger as he shook his head, “Thank you for that information, I want to ask you something. I want your tribe to join us, and I will give you protection unlike that the High Chief could ever give you. With my proposal, you get to settle down and join as I create a massive empire never seen before.”

“That sounds great, but I think those were the same words the High Chief’s ancestors used for mine.” The fellow said while shaking his head, “Thus I will need to decline. Will you let me go free?”

“I will, as it was a genuine proposal I had.” Alaric told him, “Be on your way then, and if you ever reconsider during your travels east come back.”

“Thank you, I will make my leave then.”

As the fellow leaved Hev leaned into Alaric, “So what did these Teeks do to you?”

“They are simply where I came from, but not what I am now.” Alaric answered as he sharpness in his voice, “What of it?”

“Do you want to send some people that direction and see what they are up to?” The Dwarf asked with a hint of deviousness in his eyes.

giving some more details and context to options like this post here would probably cut down on us trying to do it all or more than one option. Most of us have been spoiled by getting customized options or hybrid mixed options that get enough support from other quests.

Its simply the idea that you cannot do everything at once. For example, I use to have questions be possible choices but I have realized that its a really dumb thing to do. I should not expect you guys to mix them, and if I know the questions why don't I just answer them as the QM? If its an actual question I never answered, than that can simply be placed into the chat and I will see about answering it either IC or here.

As for the others, well, again its people trying to make their cake and eat it too. You are mortal, and cannot do anything. I might just make it so if people do that, it will cause something like Stress in CK3. You are overexerting yourself to do everything at once, thus your life is not so peachy.

“I think sending some men over to check out the west is a good idea, however…” Alaric picked up Theoric and looked over the child, “How much things like food and metals do we have?”

“What are you suggesting?” Hev asked in a little bit of confusion.

“If we are good at making food, I do not see why we cannot give it to others for things they have.” Alaric grew a small smile as things were finalized in his mind, “Who knows what can happen. Not only will we know the goings on across the west but we might be able to eat things other than mushrooms.”

“A good idea, there.” The Dwarf laughed as he thought to himself, “Once, long ago we Dwarfs and Elves traded weapons and food. However when the Elves became content and decadent they abandoned us in our holds. There was a little spark during the Incursion of the Demon Lord, but you heard how that went I am sure.”

“The Dwarfs faced the brunt of it to buy time for the Champion of Order to slay it?”

“Yup, though I personally think the Elves were just lazy bastards who did not want to fight. So in their genius they got someone else to do it for them!” The Dwarf shook his head at whatever times he was told, “However I get the feeling their era is coming to an end.”

“Well there is no more Orcs to go kill them, so what are you suggesting?”

“Easy, humans seem capable enough and much more agreeable than them.” Hev declared as he got out what Alaric learned was a flask of alcohol, “If we Dwarfs can bring you guys up right, well, you might cover the entire surface world.”

“And from that, you dominate the earth?” Alaric summarized back to him.

“And you guys don’t have a brother sharing a little bit of the land too.” Hev joked with a smirk.

“Well you guys tend to hang out where its a little too short for us!”

“I’ll take that as a compliment, unless you want me to smack ya over the head for that!”

The two laughed after that, days becoming years once again.

The next few years were much harder on Alaric than he would let on. Such was the issue with trying his best to further his people and prepare them for whatever was to come.

“HYA!” Yelled Theoric as he took a wooden sword and tried to chop his brother. The other child quickly brought his weapon up and defended against the strike. However he did was simply taking the hit, with Theoric trying his best to break the wooden sword in half.

“Anthantric, bash him to the side and give him a hit!!” Alaric yelled to his progeny.

“GAH!” The child known as Anthantric did exactly as he was ordered, using his remaining strength to move Theoric’s sword to the side and trying to strike a hit.

However, probably thanks to Alaric’s demand, Theoric was quick to take his blade and block his brother. However he seemed to learn from his brother’s mistake, instead quickly parrying his strike and striking a decisive blow against his brother.

“Alright, thats enough you two.” Alaric declared as he looked upon the two with a worn smirk, “Come over and get some milk in your stomachs.”

The two boys looked in his direction, panting for a moment before walking their way towards Alaric. This here really was a normal occurrence, as Alaric did not want his children to grow weak. However, add into that he did not want them to be ignored, so Alaric tended to take them out when he was looking over the greater forces and give them a little practice.

Yup, since Alaric turned his head to the series of men all training themselves with spears and sometimes a wooden sword. It had been around eight years since Alaric decided to work, ten since they settled this city. At least for now, they learned the seasons of when you can and can’t grow crops. That was also compounded by the sheer amount of food they have been getting from their crops.

Maybe because they were eleven, but the quality of food has skyrocketed for his people. Why were they even managing a pretty nice surplus which made trading with the rest of humanity fruitful.

Though Alaric still wondered where they were getting all those precious resources from, those that his fellow humans gave him.

“Th-thank you dad.” Theoric said as he took a sip of Alaric’s jug of freshly milked milk.

“Ooooooohhhhhh I needed that.” Anthantric said before collapsing on the ground, well, like a child.

It seemed that the training was coming along well enough for the other men, so Alaric wondered if he really needed to stay around here. Today was Theoric and Anthantric’s day, but Alaric had… uh, fifty kids? He was struggling to keep their names straight for crying out loud!

Ugh, it seems like every child he has seems to take a little bit more out of him. While he loved him all, they all might be taking Alaric to an early grave!

They way over towards the Dwarf’s proper hold was a long one. However even with it being long there was not real danger in traveling the underground passages towards the Stronghold. Really, the Dwarfs have done a good job keeping it clean ever since they opened the halls back. Why even some shrubbery was growing there, whatever kind of plant can do that without sunlight Alaric would not know.

With things cleaned up and a small cart moving things too and from, it was closing onto Evening as Alaric finally arrived at the Stronghold.

As usual the place was bustling, much more than when Alaric once lived there. Thanks to the food coming in from his own fortress, the Dwarfs have been able to start focusing on mining. Though that also made things there much hotter than usual, being that the forgess night never actually sleep these days.

“Wow.” Theoric said as he looked around at the massive amount of folks running around, “So this is where the Dwarfs live!?”

“Yup, and we are going to see a good friend of mine. Normally he comes by the keep for a drink or two, but I never showed him you buggers.” Alaric laughed as they marched on forward, “I know he has a few kids, but they are much older than you all.”

“How much?”

“Fifty.”

“F-fifty!?” The Kid’s eyes widened as he looked at Alaric, “How old are you dad?”

“Thirty years, I think.” He admitted with a small chuckle, “It was quite a shock to all of us when we figured it out. Apparently their people will live on towards four hundred, sometimes six if they are healthy enough.”

“Th-that means…”

“Yup, even when I pass these fellows will barely have aged. So you better be nice to them and such, since they hold grudges.”

“G-got it!”

It was soon after their talk was done that they arrived at the great hall of the Dwarfs. It was similarly built to Alaric’s however instead there were a bunch of Dwarfs and someone else sitting on the throne.

“You idiots got it! Dig any deeper and you might spill into the underworld!” Stog called out as he was battering on his throne towards some miners.

“Sorry Deep King, we should have been more thoughtful about it.” The Dwarf said.

“Begone now,” The Dwarven King called out as he looked up, “it seems I have guests.”

“Pleasure seeing you Stog.” Alaric said as he came up the staircase, “It’s been a little while.”

“A month in your time is not that long in ours.” Stog answered before giving a chuckle, “But I’ll take an excuse to get drunk.”

“Maybe we can later.” Alaric said as he brought his children over, “However I thought I introduce you to the next generation.”

The Dwarf blinked for a moment, then looked at the kids at Alaric’s feet. In a moment he gave a mighty laugh, “By my beard, you already have two!”

“Two?” Theoric questions for a moment before furrowing his brow, “But I have fifty brothers and sisters.”

In a flash, the face of Stog began to grow just a little bit pale as he heard those words. He coughed a good bit, “F-fifty kids! How to you expect to take care of them all!”

“Well that comes to one of the reasons I came over here.” Alaric started with a small grin, “I want to send a few of them over here as Apprentices once they are old enough. Just like the experience that you gave me when I was here.”

“So you want your children educated by us Dwarfs?” Stog, quicker on the ball than most dwarfs, gave a hearty laugh as he shook his head, “How many of them even know how to read and write?”

“Reading and writing, like the thing your scribes do?” Alaric said as he pointed to a fellow in the corner, “Uh, you can teach them that?”

“By the Evercrystal, then we will need to get to them early!” The Dwarf announced as he hopped off his throne and walked up to Theoric and Anathantric, “So how old are these little ones?”

“Both are ten, Theoric is the older one by a couple of weeks.” Alaric informed the Dwarf.

“Your people do grow fast.” He said while looking the child over, “And he will be an adult in six years?”

“Yup, take it you remember that from when I lived here.”

“Aye, that is the truth.” The Dwarf declared before nodding to himself, “It takes a quite few years for us Dwarfs to learn how to read and write, though most of the time we are just beating the idiots till they grow up to be mature dwarfs. If they are as bright as you they might be able to learn fast.”

“So you are going to teach them this… writing thing first? I do have quite a few who will grow up mighty fine for helping the smiths.”

“Well lets start with their brains first, since if I remember correctly they placed you in one of the colder smithies. Definitely not sending them into the mines, since you fellows can’t see without lights.” He said before looking back at Alaric, “I can take maybe fifteen of them, lets try maybe four years old and work our way up from there.”

“And how long you planning on keeping them?”

“Five years, at the very least so they learn how to be civil.”

“That sounds like something I can agree to.” Alaric admitted as he thought to himself, “Though what about your people?”

“I don’t really know if you all have anything yet that would be of interest.” The Dwarf admitted as he shook his head, “Not to mention that you need the help more than us if none of you can read or write.”

“Atleast consider it, otherwise I will see it as a debt to your people.”

“Don’t worry about that, if there is going to be a debt it might be ours.” The Dwarf admitted with a small laugh, “We are seeing more food come through here than ever before in our lifetimes. Raising mankind from squalor is tribalism is an honor that both of our people enjoy.”

“Alright then, then we will organize this more later. For now, lets show these two your keep.”

“Haha, and it will be a grand tour.”

A couple of days went by after that, with Stog giving Theoric and Anathantric a tour of the most illustrious keep of the Dwarfs. Alaric wondered if they were inspired by it, thanks in fact to how wide their eyes were wherever they went.

Soon thought they needed to go home, to which the first thing Alaric saw was one of his merchant spies hanging out at the entrance.

“Alaric, I have something I want to talk to you about.” He said while looking at the two kids at Alaric’s sides, “You might want to send the young ones away.”

“Hmm, very well.” Alaric agreed, waving the children to leave him alone and go visit their mother. Once the little ones were gone, Alaric gave the fellow an angered stare, “So, what's the issue?”

“There are stirrings in the west, it seems the new High Chief has started to gather together an army.”

“Its not like we have been doing the same, but why is it troubling you?”

“It seems the Chief has expanded his pillaging. We have finally found out that they have been attacking Elven settlements in their direction, and well, I have caught wind that they are starting to fight harder resistance.”

“What does that mean for us?” Alaric’s eyes narrowed as the trader became only more panicked.

“I fear that they might come towards us, as the recent High Chief still sees us as part of his people. Either that or they will be looking for more able places to seek spoils.”

“And since we have grown so large, even if they wanted just Elven loot they will be coming through here?”

“Aye, that is what I fear.”

“Then there is no reason to dilly dally as he raises men to come fight me.” Alaric delcared as he looked upon his keep, “Go back to your activities, but know that your words have not fallen on deaf ears.”

“Thank you, Chief Alaric.”

“I am a King, for we are no longer like those folks in the west or the east.” Alaric declared as he marched forward.

It was thanks to his early preparation that the army was raised within a few months of hearing the activity. Being the middle of summer, Alaric’s farmers were able to leave their fields to come help him with this coming battle. He knew it would hurt his Kingdom, however that was the price to pay to extinguish fires before they catch alight.

Alaric would not allow the High Chief to pillage his lands, not as long as he was still alive.

“Agh, so much walking!” Hev declared as he rested his feet over a campfire, “You see, this is the reason we Dwarfs prefer staying underground. When you’re underground, you can get to anything within a few days and not need to deal with… terrain.”

“Well it might be because you have stubby legs.” Alaric joked as he bit into a recently killed deer, “Though we are not lucky either, I much prefer to ride one of those wolfs if I knew how to ride it.”

“Feeling jealous of the Greenskins now? Remember we were also the ones who put them into the furnaces.”

“Yeah yeah, still wonder how they do that.”

“Maybe you can steal the secret of riding wolves from them.” Hev joked as he looked over the Horizon towards a small valley of mountains, “I take it thats where we are going?”

“It seems like it, makes sense why the Orcs never really overwhelmed the High Chief if those damned mountains are in the way.”

“Aye, but after them our quary will be there.” Hev said to Alaric with a sharp eye, “So, King of the Surface, whats your plan for this?”

“Easy, I’m going to teach them that engaging in barbarism is something we humans shall never do again.” Alaric said with a devious but also righteous smile upon his face.

“Okay?” The dwarf said before his eyes began to widen, quickly punching Alaric in the arm, “That's genius! Hitting them where it will hurt!”

“Thats the idea.”

Soon the days became nights, then days again. The Warband that Alaric formed made their way towards the South West, crossing through what at first was forests into more dangerous mountains. However thanks to the rudimentary knowledge of Hev, their expedition did not face anything too grave during the cross.

It was after this that they began their march. There was obvious ruins of previous raids and sackings, leaving behind a variety of areas that stuck out like infections. Alaric’s company went by a good bit of them, and while they did notice a straggler or two those folk ran faster than any person Alaric had seen in his lifetime.

And all he got was a chuckle from his companion, “Damned Elves, even when we are here to rescue them they curse barbarians then run for the hills.”

“Yeah, we keep seeing a few of them still alive but where are their dead?” Alaric asked as they continued walking forward.

“Well thats just a mystery, but the reason is quite simple.” The Dwarf said as he shook his head, “Those bastards are so perfect, that if you kill one of them, their body goes poof.”

“Poof?”

“Best the elders described it.” The Dwarf admitted with a shrug, “According to the legends, they are being swept up into the afterlife by their God. Something about not allowing such perfect beings to be spoiled upon the earth.”

“Really?”

“Really.”

It was a few moments later that something crossed Alaric’s vision, small fires in the distance. The cries of pain were enough to make him smile, as they finally caught a group.

SLAUGHTER!
>>4870017

It was a day after the raid, unaware to the men who had collected relics of the Elves and stabbed a great many of them made their way towards their camp. They were more barbarous than their brothers and sisters to the east, obviously still living the life of a raider when times were starting to change for the better.

However even if they were as smart as their others, none of them suspected to be stalked by their own kind. Maybe by Elves, however they had become foolhardy thanks to their relentless massacre of the Elven people.

So they entered a camp, the place sized similar to a small village and holding a good amount of men within it. While not the most populace place, it was surely going to cause a dent in their forces here in a few moments.

“So they are a few hills out?” Alaric asked his scout as he sat on a bench over a fire.

“Aye, its not their main force but I have only seen people leaving there to go on more and more raids.” The man answered with a shaking of the head, “Its about the size of a small clan.”

“Well I do not think they are going to get any bigger, Alaric.” Hev called out as he took a sip from a small metal bottle.

“You’re right, whats the terrain like over there?”

“From the south side there is a wide valley, a good place for a proper battle if you are looking for that.” the Scout declared as he thought to himself, “Besides that they have surrounded themselves by the other sides with large hills.”

“Would it be hard to get other them?”

“Exhausting, yes, but anyone can climb them.” The Scout answered with a smile.

The Night’s moon slowly rose from behind the hills, barely lighting the fields below it with a glint of light. However the moon was not its great silvery white, but instead a subtle shade of red. Many would say this was the moon of the Harvest, however many others knew it could not occure this time of year.

No, it was a more dreadful moon, one drenched in the blood of the dead.

“Little bit more…” Alaric whispered as he held his blade ready.

Coming over the hill, Alaric overlooked the small camp with a small fire in his chest. It was not one of settling a grudge, but the anticipation of what was going to occur. Yes, it was the coming battle where Alaric would once more spill the blood. However one could argue that this was immoral, as the blood he was attacking was not the blood of Orcs but of his fellow man!

However Alaric would counter them with a decleration.

Man will not longer be a series of barbarian people without a home. Failure to do so shall only keep our people back as a species.

“So how well can you see anyways?” Hev jokingly whispered as he cresened the hill.

“Not much, but I have a feeling that won’t be for long.”

“Aye, once the blood starts flowing and the torches are set alight, this place will be like day.”

Alaric looked behind him, his strong eyes seeing several strong men there. It was planned that to keep things safe they were to all attack from one side, thus you only needed to march forward.

With a torch in hand, Alaric gave it a lit. With the fire in hand, he rose from his spot and pointed.

And in a swift motion, everyone behind him attacked.

To those on the ground, all they saw at first was a singular flame lit upon the top of a hill. Such a thing was odd, but was not enough to create panic among their peers as they continued their watch. However when the sounds of footsteps and the subtle movements within the darkness became more and more apparent, they realised what was occuring.

However they did not have enough time then to stop the coming tide of men.

Like a wave Alaric’s forces crashed into the makeshift walls and tents that were put up in a rush to make the place secure. However none expected them to actually face combat, and whatever defenses were put up crumbled in the hands of the aggressors.

And while many began to jump out of their beds with a jolt, none of them were able to face off against the hundreds of men coming through their camp and killing them all.

Over all the carnage Alaric was looking, scouting for someone of value. Being with these people once before, he knew that the tent close to the center and also the tallest was the place his foe would be resting.

Since it was obvious, the man easily found the tent and drew his sword.

Alaric walked through the rooms, knowing almost by instinct which one was his goal. With a slice of his blade, the man destroyed a curtain with ease.

“Wh-who are you!?” screamed the leader stood with a sword, naked.

“Your executioner.” Alaric declared, quickly slicing through the lone man’s neck with a simple flick of his hand.

He stood there for a moment after, realising what he had just done. It was not that he felt guilty about it, killing a man when he was woefully unprepared, but instead the man did not even put up much of a fight.

No, he died like a bug underneath Alaric’s boot.

It was a moment later Alaric heard a whimper, quickly turned about to see what he first thought was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Skin fairest of them all, with proportions almost godlike. However the pain on his neck was still there, snaping into reality enough to see the ears upon the girl.

She was an Elf.

This could leave a decent impression on them, enough that maybe the elves will give us something back to our people. If they don t give us anything, we can use it against them.

Maybe it was because the girl looked as good as she was but Alaric was feeling a little nice, “Look, if you want to stay alive you can stay with me. If you want to run, go now.”

“W-what are you?” She asked with a little bit of shakiness in her voice.

“Alaric, High King of Man.” He declared as she looked to shiver at those words.

“Were they… your people?”

“Yes and no, I have yet to unit all of humanity under my banner.” Alaric admitted as he gave a small kick to the old corpse, “These idiots are making fools of us, so I thought I’d discipline them.”

She jumped a little to Alaric’s blunt display, however she seemed to steel herself a little, “A-alright, p-please keep me safe.”

“I will, lets get this damned night over with first.” Alaric said before stepping out of the room, “Also, get yourself clothed. I already have enough wives.”

The night by quick after that, as the men were routed away from their camp and sent along to tell tales of Alaric’s terror. Alaric’s men quickly got back together after scaring off those bastards enough, quickly looting the camp for a large amount of supplies.

It was a modest yield, enough that Alaric’s campaign might be sustrained if he can shrink his forces a little. However that was just a thought, nothing that needed to happen now.

However the fun began the next time he saw Hev, “By the five, who in the deep fiery pits of the underworld is that!?”

“An Elf I found, apparently she was taken prisoner by the humans. She going to be a problem?” Alaric asked his fellow.

“Hmph, well of course there is a problem, she's an Elf! Those useless bastards only care about themselves, and considering we haven't seen any of them here shows they don’t even care about each other.”

“The she won’t be a problem?”

“Not right now, but don’t let her near any of your boys.”

Alaric glanced at her, knowing full well where the Dwarf was coming from. The Elves at one point abandoned the Mountain Lords, allowing a curse to almost drive them to extinction. Still, as long as she was here Alaric would not care, just taking his friend’s warning as keeping her with him during the campaign.

The battles continued, each one Alaric nearly destroying the armies who decided to try and raid. Though what he expected to happen, a counter attack made by the High Chief, had not yet occured. Honestly Alaric was surprised he kept crossing different warparties, as he thought becoming the menace was enough to stop people from trying to raid their neighbors.

Even when the winter came by, Alaric was killing his fellow men with an ease unlike any other.

However when spring came, his waiting was finally over.

“High King, there is an army making their way towards us!” A scout said to Alaric as they rested on the top of a modest sized hill.

“How big is the army?” Alaric asked the fellow as he stretched his arms.

“Similar to ours, sir, I think they have had enough of us.”

“Ha, finally the cowards have formed their army,” Hev announced as he started drinking what he called ‘Elvish Water’, “Finally we can take those fuckers out and get back to the keep.”

“Don’t like the walking I see?” Alaric smiled as he gave a small chuckle.

“Aye, you understand us Dwarfs are not the best runners and this is putting me to the test.” He annoucned with a shaking of the head, “Find out anything about the terrain there boy?”

“Uh, nothing much sir. It seems they are staying clear of as many hills on their advance.” He said before a small drop of sweat came down his brow, “But I don’t know sir, something over there is getting me… a bad feeling.”

Alaric could not help but raise a brow, “From the army?”

“No, thats the thing. All those men in their own army looked scared out of their minds. Something is crawling around, I just don’t know what.”

“We will engage them, only when the presence has left.” Alaric announced as he looked towards the Horizon.

And those words were carried out to the rest of Alaric’s army. It soon became a chase, the enemy army being led on as Alaric and his company planned for when they would finally strike.

It was a few weeks later, in a very open field that his scouts stopped feeling that presence among the enemy army. While Alaric might have wanted to go on longer, his men were starting to feel the pains of being away from home for so long. Food was starting to get short, and without raiders to sustain themselves they ended up destroying vast amounts of land getting to this point.

When the enemy army came into Alaric’s view, he knew exactly what time it was, “Men, line up and prepare for battle!”

The men did as Alaric demanded, preparing to receive the enemy as they lined up in formation.

They other army, of similar size to Alaric’s, continued to make its way over. Soon they were a small distance away from Alaric, enough that a good run might be able to make it to them.

And when they made it there Alaric heard a voice, “USURPER! Today you face the High King’s forces, a punishment for killing so many of our fellow men. We give you this one chance to flee this land, before we crush you.”

>You all have committed crimes of Barbarism, you shall pay for your actions.

“AGREED, I am here to claim your title!” Alaric announced as he stood feet above all his fellow men, “But you neglect to tell these men of yours what I have done! I am Alaric, uniter of the eastern men and killer of Adgore, Warboss who defeated you. Do you remember that?”

There was a silence to Alaric’s words, as everyone was quickly learning the truth of the matter.

“But I come here not to claim the title of High Chief, but to unite men under my title as High King! All of man shall follow me, and we shall become the greatest force in the land!”

“Lying fool.” Was the only response Alaric got as a sword was raised above the heads of men, “Kill him, kill the liar and betrayer of mankind!”

“ATTACK! Slay these Barbarians!”

And with those words both sides went forward, bringing their weapons to bear as they crossed the valley towards the center of the large field. With an epic crunch, men were against one another for the first time in fifty years.

Alaric brought his weapon about and with a single swing slayed three men, none of them able to face Alaric in the pitch of battle. One after another Alaric brought about death, soon immersing himself with the ranks of the enemy like a rogue tornado.

It was quickly becoming apparent how strong Alaric was against these simple men, a being who holds the title of Slaying Adgore. To this, those who shared his racial blood began to fear him like they would a monster, and such terror was quickly going through the ranks.

“RETREAT!” Screamed a group of men as Alaric stood in the middle of their ranks.

“Cowards!” He yelled back, though he did this with a smirk. Best these men flee in higher numbers, for Alaric was of course planning to turn these men into workers in his grand Kingdom.

However as he smirked, a blade quickly went by his head. It was fast, however an ill gotten attempt to try and slice off the head of Alaric. Standing there was a man who came up to Alaric’s chest, a bit of fury in his eyes.

“So you are the bastard terrozing my people.” a recognizable face said.

“If I was an elf, I would shoot that back right at you.” Alaric declared as he weilded his weapon deftly, “Do you remember me, bastard?”

The old man took a moment’s study, “You’re one of Orion’s sons, the one I trusted to take out the Orc’s flank.”

“Indeed, the group of men you sent to die.”

“Only because you failed your duty.” He answered while readying his sword, “For this treason, I will lop your head off then destroy your entire clan.”

“I am no longer a Teef, idiot.” Alaric answered him as his blade began to glow red, “I am High King Alaric, first of his dynasty and people.”

“I shall kill you for that.” And with those words, the two engaged blades.

We can humiliate him after we wear him down a bit, like throw jabs and insults at his cowardice and failures, particularly with the orks.

I want to call him a old wasted haggard of a fool, and a cowardly liar who used our distraction on the ork flank to run from the battle. Claim further proof of his cowardice when he ran from us in the forest and his raids on small and defenseless villages.

Seeing the events unfolding, Alaric quickly brought his sword up and blocked the attack made at his head, the blow narrowly being parried off to the side. The attack was trying to slice him apart with a single strike, but it was thanks to Alaric’s strength it was made into nothing.

Before the bastards could make another strike, Alaric swept his blade into the High Chief’s direction, the attack slicing into his clothing as the warrior tried his best to get out of the way. He then prepared himself, bracing as the Chief went for another strike.

And like a child fighting their father Alaric deflected the strike. Another strike came quickly after, however with dexterity Alaric simply battered it away. Alaric of course retaliated, getting in a nice strike against the man’s armor and getting a small purchase of blood.

With that done, both combatants disengaged from the fighting and readied their swords once again.

“Are you trying to make a fool of me!” The man demanded as he shakily held his sword in hand.

“I simply know that a man who gained the title of High Chief should not be taken lightly.”

“YOU BASTARD!” The Chief yelled as he charged into melee with Alaric once more.

Alaric, with skillful finesse, parried the man’s blade and readied his back. With a strike, he gave a massive wound right into the chest of the warrior and sent him reeling back.

“Damn it, damn it!” The man said as he gripped his bleeding chest.

“Not Mortal.” Alaric realized as he brought his weapon around, “But you aren't going anywhere.

“Tsk, you really are the man to defeat Adgore.” The Chief realized as he felt his strength leaving him, “So what will you do now? Kill me?”

Alaric looked down upon the man, he was enraged, plenty so, however his blood was not flowing. Even giving the man the respect he deserved in battle, Alaric had eclipsed him in sheer strength and power. This man before him was the one who killed the Foreman, but Alaric still had enough of a mind to decide.

“Of course.” Alaric said calmly as he pulled back his sword, “The Gods shall shine down upon you, for the fight you gave to me.”

The other man simply gave a small chuckle as the blade came, “Happy that I stood in the way of their chosen.”

Before anything could be asked or done, the blade cleanly sliced through the next. The head would have gone flying across the field, however with a quick motion with Alaric’s hand the head was snared. Even if he hated the man, he needed to pay his the respect of a man of his title.

“MEN! I HEREBY DECLARE THIS BATTLE OVER!” Alaric announced his words across the battle. Unlike words that were spoken by mortal men before him, these words were infused with a true power of a ruler behind them. None could resist them, stopping their attacks upon one another to hear the words of the Sovereign.

“Today, the High Chief lays slain by the High King of the Eastern mountain. For defeating the King in honorable combat, I have hereby claimed his position and Userpe his Title against any Children he might have! Those who wish to go against my declaration, I hereby demand you come and fight me!”

None did, instead the entire crowd of mankind enthralled by the powerful voice whose words moved their very souls. Such was the Right of the High Kings.

“Then from this day onwards I hold the Title of High King, the one who rules over the Surface of Mankind! From this point Man has been united, and from there we shall build a grand Kingdom that shall even outshine the Elves!”

When Alaric finished, the men around him began to cheer. While many would have been scared for today, the day their old High Chief died, instead they cheered the true ruler of man!

All Hail the High King, Ruler of Mankind!

All Hail the High King, Ruler of Mankind!

All Hail the High King, Ruler of Mankind!

From that point on Alaric began to move, his men now crossing into the western mountains as they did. While he felt something within them, whatever it was never decided to come out as they marched their way about and into the uncivilized lands that were once of the High Chief’s.

News of course traveled fast once the army started taking time to rest. News of the High Chief’s death was actually slower than the one everyone walked to talk about these days.

That Mankind was together once again, under the one who slayed Warboss Adgore and the High Chief himself.

Many came out to pay their respects in fear, of course, but many others willingly joined in what was becoming a fever pitch.

Chief who wished to pay their new lord in vassalage granted Alaric enough men that he actually needed to start releasing some of the more veteran troops to their homes.

Yeah, things were going well.

“So how much longer are we?” Alaric asked Hev as he took a seat in his tent.

“We are a day away from those Teef, of course if we believe your new regiment.” The Dwarf laughed to himself for a few moments as he Chuckled, “I take it they wronged you?”

“Well if I remember the news, the bastard who kicked me around like a kid is now the leader there. Thought I’d pay him a visit.”

“Ah, a grudge from so young.” The Dwarf grew almost terry eye, “You make me proud speakin’ like that.”

“W-what are you going to do with them?” The meek little elf in the corner asked while looking towards Alaric.

“Aye, I guess that is a good question. Though I hate that, I need to agree with her on that.” Hev answered as he finished wiping his eyes, “You thinking of whooping his ass or killin’ him? Both I agree with though I think one will set a good example.”

Indeed, as even now Alaric’s neck seemed to ache from the pain of his entire life’s weight. He had become bigger than the fucker, it was time to teach him a lessen he should have learned long ago.

It was morning when the people of the Teef Tribe saw them come upon the Horizon. Many, even those who served in the battle against Adgore, never saw such a large group of men advancing in unison.

They will never see this kind of event again in their lives too.

When the army surrounded the village, everyone within it was of course starting to panic. Many had heard of the High King and his prestige upon the earth. Who would not? Those who looked upon this time in the past would mark it as some of the most glorious times of man. A start of an era even!

Those people would be correct.

However that did not abide for the people of the tribe, as they looked upon the men. It was so horrifying that the Chief, Pol the Survivor, was forced out of his tent to confront the mob of people. He was confused, as so was the men upon his council as he looked towards the army. There was a sharp drop of sweat going down his neck, however the man’s arrogance was more than enough for him as he made his way forward.

It was just for a Chief to come forward and meet their new sovereign, even if it made a bad taste in Pol’s mouth. Maybe he can lead some sort of Rebellion against him?

Soon the men in the army parted, out coming was the rumored King himself. A giant of a man, towering quite a few heads over Pol as he advanced forwards towards the Chief. However it was then that Chief of the Teef’s eyes widened as he looked upon the person, “R-RIC!?”

The man stood only a few feet above him now, towering above him with a tinge of anger in his voice, “Is that a way to address your leige, Chief of the Teefs?”

The man’s mouth started to move, “H-how!? You are suppose to be dead!”

“I would say the same to you, but it seems we are the lucky ones.” Alaric answered him with his fists curled in balls, “The Foreman, my Father, died in your place. Not only that, but you were my torturer.”

“What do you want from me?”

“For you to experience my life’s worth of pain.” The lowly Chief did not even see the attack coming as a fist came right into his face and caved it in. Several bones within his face shattered, each leaving a nasty disfigurement that would never come out of the man’s face.

All knew the punishment was real, for they knew the High King could have just blown the man’s head apart like a fruit. No, instead he simply broke the man, likely making the rest of his life obsolete.
The pain in his neck no more, we approach the last few years of Alaric’s life.

Days once more went into years as the Tribes of man began to grow agricultural practices. Those of the West took it faster than their eastern neighbors, however the secrets of Agriculture were already given to humanity. It was easy to teach more of them when the race already knew the most vital secret of civilization.

Ten long years, that was how long it has been since the uniting of Humanity. In such a time, Alaric watched as his children grew up, all loving one another as they grew under the wings of one of the most powerful man known to date. In addition to their education by the Dwarfs, they knew the values that their Father had more than anyone else.

You honor each other, and seek vengeance against those who wronged the realm.

As for Alaric himself, he was the eastern mountains. There they found the remains of an old Dwarven Stronghold, and through the will of the High King man and dwarf worked to rebuild the shining beacon from the ruins just like they had with Helsk. While it was given the name, Mountain Gap Bastion, even the Dwarfs called what was once Heslk was now known as Man’s Keep.

However for Alaric, as he looked upon the final construction of the great Bastion, he placed his hand over his heart. While his growing has stopped, he felt more tired than he ever had before. Just getting up was enough to cause his heart troubles, and while his ability to fight never tempered.

“Father, its happening again?” Theoric asked as they stood upon the highest levels of the Bastion.

“Aye, I tried my best these last few years but it seems I am hitting my limit.” He answered his son while shaking his head, “Maybe I should… talk to the elves.”

“Father, you can’t be serious.” Theoric’s brow raised as he looked over to his father, “Please tell me that the silly one has finally gotten to your head!”

Alaric shook his head, “Theoric, I, its just an idea. I still need to return the one lady to her people. She’s been hanging out with Estus, correct?”

“If I didn’t know Estus I would have called them lovers.” Theoric answered as he looked towards the Horizon, “B-but…”

“What else can I do?” Alaric asked as he patted his son on his back.
>>
“I think I know something.” Hev answered as he walked into the room with them, “I don’t know where you got such a stupid idea, but I know something better than that. You remember that feeling back in the Eastern Mountains?”

“What about them?” Alaric’s brow raised a little as he tried his best to get his heart to settle.

“Those mountains used to be known as Dragon Scale Mountains, and I think that was one of her residences.” The Dwarf answered as he took a few steps forward, “What we felt back then was the greatest of beasts to ever exist, a full blooded Dragon.”

“Its blood is so potent that any who bathes it inherits a Dragon’s immortality. Hell, even if we fail to kill it will be the greatest way to go out!” The Dwarf Smiled a little as he showed Alaric an Axe, “I might not be at the end of my own life, but I am willing to come with you.”

“A Dragon?” Alaric asked the man as he thought to himself, “What kind of creature is that?”

“They are the creatures of legend, existing during the era of the Gods.” The Dwarf answered as he took out his flask and showed a small thing off to the side of it, “This here is a Dragon, a giant lizard capable of slaying entire Kingdoms.”

“Ah, a Flying Serpent. Where we come from they are filled with knowledge and wisdom.” Alaric claimed as he looked over the creature a little more, “But this one, its evil?”

“Indeed.” The Dwarf answered as he took the flask back, “Many Dwarven Keeps have fallen to these bastards even before the Curse was placed upon us.”

“Then we should make sure to kill him before they come for my people.” Alaric answered as he raised himself from the railings, “It will be the greatest fight of a lifetime.”

“So this will be the last time I see you?” Theoric asked as he looked towards his Father.

“I cannot say, Theoric.” Alaric said as his hand brushed his hand against his sword, “But even if I do not do this my days will be over anyways.”

“If it kills you, I will make sure it dies.” Theoric declared as he gave a light punch in his father’s chest, “That is a vow, a vow that I am sure all my brothers and sisters will take.”

“And if you do not succeed, your children will too.” Alaric declared with a smiled while taking out his blade, “This is of no use for me, Theoric, for what I am seeking is not a grudge but a worthy death and maybe immortality. Upon this moment I will no longer be High King, you will be.”

“W-what!?”

“Theoric you are the first born of Matria, my First Wife. You are the first in line to inherit according to the old laws.” He said while placing the blade into Theoric’s hands, “I trust you and your brother, Anathanric. Lead humanity well.”

His son tried his best to hold back tears, reaching his hands forward.

“The blade’s true name is Fortage, the Sword of the High King. With it you shall wreak vengeance against those who destroyed your fellow man.” Alaric declared as it settled in his son’s hands, “High King Theoric, it was a pleasure raising you.”

“Thank you Father.” he choked out as he wielded the sword, “I shall pray to the Five for your safe return.”

“Aye, pray for me. I shall either be watching you from the Heavens or earth.” Alaric declared as he made his way, “Hev, you coming?”

“Of course, a grand journey that no other Dwarf has done in Millennium! Even if we fail, our names shall be sung upon every mead hall known to both Man and Dwarf! And kid, best not tell Stog or he will come chasing us just to join it!”

And like that they left, Alaric leaving everything behind with just a few new weapons and companion they were off.

From what Alaric said we might actually be able to speak to it if we don't kill it, and that could open a whole different branch of immortality if we were able to convince it to teach us stuff

They traveled, Alaric witnessing his lands for one last time. He felt every step was felt through his body. However with those steps, he knew that humanity was going to grow onwards from here.

Numerous crops were about him, many of them having the golden hue necessary to be harvested. Beasts of burden walked about, eating the fields that were not used during the season. Children played about them as well, their game of tag much more somber than the dangers that Alaric had to face.

“Sad you won’t be able to see this all again?” Hev asked one time as they moved across the dirt road.

“I am sad I won’t be able to guide humanity again, so yes.” Alaric answered as he tapped the Masterword Sword upon his waste, “However they will be in good hands.”

“Aye, they shall be.” Hev said with a smirk.

Soon they arrived near the Dragon Scale Mountains, the feeling of oppression settling. However that was in the back of Alaric’s mind, as they needed to get prepared to get the bastard.

The trap laid was a simple, but effective one. Gathering a series of beasts Alaric started to lead them all through the mountains, with Hev walking a few hundred feet back. At first he was not getting anything of value, the dragon ignoring the beasts as they walked through his lands.

However, that was until one of the beasts was nicked by a nearby piece of wood.

The word underneath Alaric’s feet began to shake as he looked up into the sky, the sounds of beating drums approaching. However he knew they were not drums, but instead maybe one of the greatest creatures ever to live upon this side of the world.

It did not take long after that, as the beast rounded about the mountain and started to fly overhead. Within a moment’s thought, the creature quickly came down from the air. Alaric had never seen anything go so fast in his life, however that was forgetting that the monster was going to hit the ground.

The impact happened, the ground underneath Alaric’s feet almost shattered as the creature arrived, opening its mawl and releasing a massive torrent of fire right into the herd.

Alaric raised his blade quick, the flames slamming into him and burning away the clothing he had upon his back. Now exposed to the world was a body that had worked for decades, saving the lives of countless humans in its mist.

He was pretty sure the Dragon did not expect him to survive that.

With the chance given to him, Alaric quickly ran forward and charged the beast. The smoke and embers entering his nose was probably enough to kill a man, however Alaric’s body was pushing itself just this little bit longer. Simply the idea of succeeding in killing the beast for immortality was enough to give Alaric the chance to live!

The chance was with his, and quickly he broke out from the smoke and sliced his blade through its tongue!

With the strike made, the sound of a beast crying in pain came across the lands.

While Alaric thought he would have gotten a few more hits in the moment he struck, a massive wall of scales slammed into Alaric and sent him flying across the cliff’s floor. He could feel his heart skip a few beats as he tried to get himself up right again, now getting his first real good look at the beast.

It was a giant red lizard, similar to how Hev described it. However the creature had numerous developed muscles, each looking to be strong enough to crack Alaric’s skull open. Add into all that the monster’s massive jaws that looked like they could rend whatever kinds of armor Alaric could produce.

“You are strong, I wonder how you will taste!” The beast shouted as it prepared another strike with its breath.

However unlike the last time, Alaric was forced to roll out of the way so that he could get a closer strike at the monster. Torrents ran past him, and quickly Alaric ran forwards and got directly into the melee of the monster.

There he made a few attacks, each bearing just a little purchase of blood with each strike. He had to act quickly, as the massive forearms quickly brought themselves forward and struck right where Alaric was standing. Being such a large slab of meat, Alaric had to defend with his sword to receive the attack. He felt the wind within his lungs shutter as he received it, that however was seconded by another attack from the beast’s other arm where Alaric was forced to recieve in a shoulder.

That limb was quickly shattered.

>Get on the defensive! Try and survive long enough for Hev to arrive
>Berserk fury! Let the primal rage of man loose as Alaric uses what savagery is left.
>Just attack, trade and block blows!

With the strengths of each other made clear, things quickly devolved themselves into a melee. This fight was probably the greatest that Alaric was in, as unlike the others Alaric could tell he was not fighting a normal person. No, not even his battle against the great wraith gave the feeling like this.

Alaric was fighting a genuine Immortal, a being who had lived not only longer than him but is stronger.

And to answer such a call of battle, Alaric decided that the last few moments of his life was to loose himself in the melee. To bring what was the primordial man, to use up what was left of the previous era’s power to kill this monster.

It was at this moment that Hev, Advisor to Alaric and close friend finally arrived soon enough to join the fight. However the fight that he saw, it was something else.

Each combatant traded blows, starting with Alaric bringing his sword across the chest of the Dragon and finally getting the nice purchase of blood he had been wanting. However in retailiation the Dragon brought one of its forward limbs forward and slammed them into the fleshy form of Alaric, causing untold amount of bones to shatter as it crackled.

However that did not stop Alaric, First High King of Humanity.

With his body still able, he swung around and gave a pair of attacks at the limb that just hit him. Numerous lashes and bleeds occured as it happened. By far, it was the most difficult piece of armor that Hev had ever seen.

The Dwarf wanted to run in, wanted to come and he slaughter this creature with his friend. However with the impacts between the two Hev felt himself pushed back several feet and once even knocked off of them.

While it looked like Alaric was losing, there was a split moment that opened when the Dragon’s wings expanded. Blood everywhere, Hev could barely tell which was the beast’s and which was that of the Mortal Man.

However, with the lul in the Dragon’s attacks given likely for it to deal a decisive breath attack, Alaric made his move.

>Slice off one of the wings

With the chance given, Alaric lunged forward and striked his sword against the Dragon’s neck. With such an attack, blood spattered everywhere along with pits of fire that struck everything before the Dragon. Such things included Alaric, who was now covered in both blood and fire.

There was a small lul there, Alaric burning in a seething fire as his flesh was being bother restored and destroyed at the same time.

“YOU THINK THAT IS ENOUGH TO KILL ME!”

From Hev’s point of view, the beast took the chance upon itself and ensnared the First High King in a beastial grip. Even with its blood everywhere, it opened up its wings and sent itself flying upwards into the sky unlike anything he had seen before.

And like that he was gone.

After that Hev traveled the mountains in search of the corpse, or the Dragon who Alaric fought. Neither could be found, causing the Dwarf to return to the Kingdom of Man and Dwarf in shame.

Thus upon that day belonging to the Twenty Second Year of the Calender of Man, The First High King Alaric Grudgebearer and Orcsbane was pronounced to have died by scholars of the future.

No one truly knew where the High King came from, many arguing that he was a blessing given by the Dwarf’s Five Gods to humanity. Others say he was a creation by the Dwarfs, a man made of the purest metal given life and flesh. Others argue that he was born from one of the tribes of man, created from the pure hatred mankind had against the Orcs for continuously invading them.

What was remembered of his time was that Alaric defeated the Orcish Warboss Adgore at the First Battle of Man’s Keep. With the Warboss defeated and the keep liberated, he struck a near integral deal with the Dwarf determining who gains what rights.

The Dwarfs, led by the Deep King, shall have control over the undergrounds to build their grand mines, forges, and Keeps within.

Man, led by the High King, shall have the surface to grow crops, build families, and host their Kingdoms upon.

After this, he united all men under a single banner, one that solidified the concept of a single humanity. From there he would build Bastions across the lands that were meant to hold out against the incursions of outsiders. These would become paramount, as both Orcs Warbosses and Dark Lords rose to conquer the world.

Lastly his Family, of Sixty Children born in his name many found projects elsewhere. Many became the Barons who held those grand Fortresses, vowing upon their late Father’s name to protect Humanity just like he had.

However that all paled compared to the two, Theoric the High King and Anathantric King of the Western Lands.

ALL HAIL THE FIRST KING, ALARIC, FATHER OF MANKIND!

However a legend exists, one where the High King has not died or at least in the general sense. With the blood of a Dragon, his body has likely become eternal against both weather and monsters.

When the worst time of man comes, when the Great Dark Lord walks the earth again and no Heroes can face him, seek out the First High King. Within the Dragon Scale Mountains, the First High King remains undisturbed.

He shall be ready to lead man again in their most dire hour.
