_________________________________________________________
In the last session we took part in the discussion between Ihmisetian and Teryian representatives, which was being mediated by Valentina. As a first thing that we did, we asked for them to fill us in on the status quo, which turned out to be complicated and not easy to deal with. Ihmisetians (the underground elves) have split up in two groups to maximize their chances for survival, and the bigger group which was accompanied by the highest ranks left in Ihmisetian Remnant managed to make their way through incredible hardship all the way to the surface and emerged in Teryian Kindgom. The other part of them was stuck in the Labyrinth near dwarven settlements since dwarves didn’t want to go out of their way to ship them all across most of their territory for a “thank you”. Thus, those stuck with the dwarves were in a more serious position which allowed them to bet on our proposal, while those who were already on the surface aren’t as desperate and thus don’t support Agatha as readily.

On the side of Teryians, the opinions are split between the Commoners and Nobles. Former wish to help Ihmisetians, yet they don’t want them to settle in Teryia which would shatter the status quo of the labor market and thus they would significantly tank the earnings of average Teryian people. The nobility, on the other hand, wishes to gain more cheap labor force to increase their incomes, however they are fearful of Ihmisetian religion and culture. Thus, they would offer them asylum only if underground elves recognize Teryian or at least Ceno gods and they would be prohibited from performing missionary work or publicly worshiping their goddess. In addition, Teryian nobility refuses to give nobility titles to the Ihmisetian leadership and essentially demand to dissolve the Remnant’s government. This is, of course, inacceptable for the underground elves, who are a theocratic culture with a rigid social hierarchy. However, they didn’t really have a second choice as Teryian government limited the release of humanitarian aid to the bare minimum until the decision is reached, which caused Remnant’s leadership to slowly bend to the demands while Teryian nobility had to simply wait until all the demands became “acceptable”.

Summary continuation

The appearance of Agatha and her city project threw a monkey wrench into this process. First of all, Teryia enjoyed a near monopoly on the goods from dwarven territories as it was in possession of the Collapse, a “natural formation” where the surface caved in into the upper layers of the Labyrinth and thus opening a point of access to a dwarven settlement positioned close to it in the Labyrinth. Ag’s recovery of the dwarven city that was abandoned for decades means the appearance of a new rival for Teryian “resellers”. In addition, the creation of the new city in that region plus our agreement to house as many refugees as those who wish to move in once again has put a halt on the nobility’s plans to push their demands through, to their collective annoyance. To our minor annoyance, the Teryian queen, while possessing the influence to push through either option, can’t afford the political capital to save the Remnant.

We suggested an option to give Ihmisetians a form of temporary citizenship, after which they could decide to either stay in Teryia or move out. The Teryian side considered it a compromise, as in a solution that leaves both sides equally dissatisfied. In addition, noble representative mentioned that this option almost entirely benefits us, since as Ihmisetians are a caste-based society, it is easy to predict that almost all of them would move to our city the moment it looks sufficiently viable. To sweeten the deal, we proposed to implement significant tax cuts for Teryian merchants and industries for between 20 and 25 years, the specifics of which would be discussed at a later date. A similar tax cut would be applied to Ihmisetians themselves to stimulate the economy at its early stages and a smaller tax reduction would be implemented to the rest of Ceno as a part of your gratitude to these people and their Pantheon.

The discussion ended with some storytelling from Agatha, as a result of which Queen Amaria mentioned that once she also used to be in a position similar to what Rheia is to you. She was apparently given to the Teryain Pantheon’s god called “Bormus the Architect”, who treated her more like a daughter. Unfortunately, it seems that the fracture and disappearance of her pantheon caused psychological trauma of those Teryians who lived through it, so the queen has to excuse herself from the table. Afterwards Val informed us that it is time for her to head back to her work, and thus it was probably the time to say our goodbyes and leave…
>>
>>4868613
You stand up from your table and refer to the Ihmisetians who are still seated: “Priestess Linataia, General Holereil, it was a pleasure to become acquainted. I wish you good luck and I invite both of you to visit my lands whenever you have the time.” You then remember that they are theocratic and add the following just in case: “Please don’t feel forced to attend anytime in the near future, I am well aware that the current situation is more important than pleasantries and sightseeing, I would not be offended even if you decide not to. In any case, let us meet again.” Both representatives bow, likely not having the time to process what you’ve just said in full. Val nods approvingly and both of you exchange goodbyes, after which Hecasta shows up nearby, ready to direct you back to the entrance.

However, this time she leads the two of you by an entirely different path, leading to the side of the building. Picking up on your momentary confusion she explains, that Haven is waiting you there already, and that this would make it easier for Val to fulfil your request. After a short walk, you meet up with Haven, who is seated on a sofa near to the other set of entrance doors which are far to the right of the entrance and not visible from the front of the building. She is accompanied by another of Val’s cups, who is unsurprisingly a conventionally beautiful woman with long flowing hair of pure white. She nods to Hecasta and immediately leaves the scene, while Hecasta herself fishes out something from her hand bag. It is a golden ring with a small flat golden disk on top of it. While the ring is elaborate, the topmost side of the disk is completely flat. She manually places the ring on Haven’s ring finger on her left hand and focuses on it for a moment. Immediately Haven’s appearance begins to change, as the ring creates an illusion of someone else and hides Haven’s true form. While she still looks like she is wearing the clothes she had before, she now looks slightly shorter, her hair changed color from rich dark oak brown to golden blonde… and do all of Val’s disguises have to be busty? Haven’s real body is thin and tall, leaning towards light athletic build, so you’d be generous to give her anything above an A cup, but in this form she has more of an hourglass build and is just a bit smaller than you in that department. The illusion of the clothes, however, look as if they were done for that figure, if a bit tight fitting.
>>
>>4868623
“Alright.” Hecasta says drawing the attention back to her. “This is one of the spare backups that we sometimes utilize, mostly when mortals need to be disguised quickly. My patron mentioned that you can keep it afterwards. It is a very limited device, and as such, it carries only one illusion, it copies the clothes that you are wearing, it doesn’t change voice, it doesn’t simulate the additional flesh and it doesn’t relay sensations.” As she says that, she waves her hand through the illusory bust of Haven and the hand passes right through the image as if it is essentially a high definition colored 3d hologram from science fiction. She also shows her own ring finger with a similar ring, but much more elaborate and housing a large blue sapphire in the center instead of a golden disk. “It carries about 30 minutes of charge and can be enabled and disabled separately from the accumulator’s charge with a magical command. It is designed to be as simple to use as possible, so I don’t think that you’d have any issues. It also lacks the details, so you can stamp or engrave it later.”

The plan is the following, you and your companions need to take the path closer to the right wall and all the way towards the “lockers”. Another cup is there and would prevent the guards from noticing the inconsistency with Haven’s body and they would leave you to change alone. There you need to deactivate the disguise, equip your gear, charge and reactivate the disguise and simply walk out. Once you leave visual range of the gates, you can drop the disguise as long as no one’s looking, unless you want a commotion and a lot of headaches on our part. Please don’t head any closer towards the Teryian guards at the entrance to the building itself, as Valentina doesn’t mind control them, instead she intends to use something that she calls “gaslighting” to make them question if they remember Haven’s body correctly if they look at your direction.”

You confirm that you understand and thank her once again, to which she replies with “Please don’t mention it, this is my job and purpose, it was nice to meet you as well. Good luck with your travels.” She then tips off Haven’s ring battery and opens one of the doors through which you can leave.
>>
>>4868631
As you walk towards the guard post, you note that Haven is blushing quite a lot, especially when a random government worker passes by and notices her assets. However, the trek to the guard towers has no issues. You are met with human guards, which open the door into the “lockers”, after which they leave in a hurry, allowing the three of you to relax a little and gear back up. Turning the ring on and off is pretty easy, in fact it was so easy that Haven herself managed to toggle it without your help. The “mana battery” itself is also simple to use, when you touch the ring, you can feel how much energy it can hold and how much it can absorb per a unit of time, so you don’t have to probe it slowly until you feel like you’re stressing it.

“…I am glad that it is one of the weaker options, I would not want to fully experience… “those” …” Haven says silently under her breath, to which you respond with poking her lightly in the arm and asking: “Oh really? I thought they looked pretty nice on your new frame”. In response she goes beet red and says “... at least not in this such situation. Seriously, why does Valentina do that?”. You shrug, and with “friendly tease of Haven” crossed off your today’s bucket list, you finish getting geared up, then you wait for the other two girls and head out of the gates.

The guards pay next to no attention to who is leaving, as they are busy checking documents from a group of Teryians in fancy clothing, so you simply move into the depths of the city, find an empty alley to allow Haven to drop her illusion and you’re done. Now it’s time to find somewhere else to go and something else to do…

>Well, you have a new toy, so it’s probably the time to play with it, right? Let’s head to the inn for now, grab a meal and let your companions rest while you can investigate the ring further
>Academy Festival: it’s time to party and to blow some spare cash on merch!
>The Great Markets: you’re curious of what is sold today, and you kind of need some new clothes, although your taste in fashion is a bit stale. Maybe Haven could help you choose something?
>The Docks: while the Great Markets is the place where most individual goods are sold the docks is where you go to look for buying something in bulk. If you’re lucky, something new might have arrived and you could get it for cheaper than from the city’s resellers
>The Hall of Huntsmen: you are kind of bored with all those politics, maybe it’s time to see if there’s something nearby in dire need of neutralizing? Or you can just scout out some monster hunters.
>To Valhalla: the home of Ceno pantheon with a cringy name, all the 15 minutes of flight away. Maybe you should pay a visit?
>Other? The write-in option. Maybe you want to ask what the girls want, or maybe you’re looking for something specific?

So we can find some fine clothes to go to the festival, of course, we can further tease Haven while we shop for clothes and ser what she would like to see us wearing.

The three of you decide to get a little bit of rest in the inn before you head out to do something else, since your previous experience was a bit stressful for them. For you though, it would be an excellent opportunity to quickly look into the new illusion ring. For some reason, you no longer get a “crash” after talking with people, no matter how important they are, and you no longer get nervous from that, so while you would hang out with your friends, you don’t really need to relax.

You arrive to the inn where you’ve booked the room within about 15 minutes and you let Haven and Rheia plop on their beds while you sit on one of the chairs and fiddle with the ring. You really wish that you’d read the psi circuitry architecture primer that Elspeth gave to you a while ago, but just skimming it gave you an opportunity to discern what the ring’s circuitry was made of. You can clearly see a “mana battery” pattern which is very close to textbook example, however it has a lot of smaller patterns weaved into it, which you guess to be some sort of controls and additional modules. One is a sort of “mana vent” which prevents one from accidentally overfilling the battery and thus frying it. Another is a sort of psychic note on the parameters of the battery such as the equivalent of an energy rating and stuff similar to what used to be written on chemical batteries in your time. A third pattern is an energy tap with a trigger waved into it, which seems to allow for the ring to autonomously tap into user’s energy when the trigger is activated, allowing one to forget about supplying the ring manually. The last pattern weaved into the battery is a mental message projector of sorts, which you’ve experimentally determined to be battery level warnings. It displays two canned warning messages when you have 5 minutes of energy left and when the energy is depleted.
>>
>>4890977
The illusion projector circuit is, however, much more complicated. You can determine that it is a single relatively large circuit positioned in the upper part of the golden disk on top of the ring, but it looks completely alien. It is different from battery fractal on some basic level that you don’t understand, and to you it looks like an equivalent of trying to read a language with almost every part of its “rules”, “writing system”, “speech” and so on radically different from your native language, but much, much worse. You only managed to determine that, like the battery, it has a wide variety of other sub- patterns weaved into it, but you only managed to decode, or at least reliably guess the purpose of the three of them. The easiest one is a trigger for the projector’s operation, highly “visible” and almost identical to a similar pattern on battery’s power tap, with the exception of being highlighted as the “on-off switch”. Other one is a large and much more complex pattern in comparison to the battery, but still somewhat intelligible, and your guess is that it is some sort of sensor or a sensor bundle, which would explain how the ring can alter the illusion in relation to external factors such as the wind or the… “bounce”. The last one that you can very vaguely discern is an incredibly dense pattern, the purpose of which you can only guess based on its ingrained component sub-patters that look like miniature logic gates from Elspeth’s book, with the exception of being much more advanced, refined and miniaturized. Thus, you think that this is some sort of a computational module, probably needed for mimicking clothes and processing the sensor data before plugging it into the projector. Since it is wired in similarly to a lot of other tiny fractals, you expect that the majority of those sub-patterns are needed for programming the illusion itself. This is unfortunately the full extent of your first attempt to analyze such a circuit, you need to read that primer and you need to know more to understand the process better in hopes of replicating it.

Of course, you’ve also tried the illusion on yourself and you think that it might work on you even better than on Haven. The illusion is of similar proportions to you, even though it makes you look only a little bit shorter (the height seems to depend on the ring’s user), it completely hides your abs and muscles, and it only slightly shrinks the curves, which in turn proves to be difficult to recognize reliably even on contact testing. You’ve also discovered some limitations to this type of illusion. It can’t actually reduce parts of your body, so if someone gives you a headpat, they’ll feel your head about 2-3 cm above from where they see it. The hologram also acts as if it is a part of your body. The Cup’s demonstration of intangibility seems to work only above a certain speed and force application, while if you just lightly touch the “hologram”, it deforms as if it is real flesh, but you can’t actually feel that. For example, the illusion gives you pointy ears that are about a third bigger than your own ears. You can’t feel them, but if you touch them, they would seamlessly deform and they can even fold if you pull on the tip. Same applies when other people try to touch your ear, it deforms but they can’t feel it. This is all very interesting, but for the practical purpose you think that you might pull off an almost foolproof application of such a device. Since your proportions are similar to those of the hologram, you can compensate for the small difference by wearing any kind of lightly padded clothes and your body would basically be immune to “touch inspection”, with exception of the head being a bit lower and the face being narrower, but it’s not like people touch stranger’s faces often. This might be useful if you decide to visit Haven’s home without the whole “goddess” thing being an issue.

In any case, this and previous events make you think… you need more clothes. You have like three outfits, those being your armor plus under armor, your “peasant work clothes” and a decent official chiton/toga… for not too wealthy of a trader or craftswoman. However, you are now a goddess, so you will end up meeting more and more important people, and you doubt that going full “Steve Jobs sweater” on them would be appreciated. However, your taste in fashion is 2000 years out of date, and even then, you mostly preferred whatever was the most comfortable, in addition to having very limited funds for clothing.

“…hey, Haven?” you say, hearing a “Mmhm?” as a response. “I’ve been thinking… maybe I should get more clothes?”. Haven instantly sits up on the bed in full attention, saying: “By the grace of Rozen, I thought this day would never come. No offense, but you desperately need something other than your under armor for meeting someone like the Queen.” You snort, suppressing laughter and reply: “none taken, although I need your help with what to buy and how to choose”. Haven thinks for a few minutes and says: “Well, for your level of importance, it is usually better to get custom outfits that are made specifically to order. Well, technically it would be more befitting for a goddess for her clothes to be made by her private seamstress servants crafted from best fabrics that few can ever get to lay their eyes upon, but you don’t have one yet, so I guess the local famous seamstresses would do. The question is mostly the reasons for each of the outfits.

Teryian nobility can have as many dresses as they wish, but they tend to separate them in roles. For example, dresses of increasingly higher cost for increasingly important meetings, ball gowns, outfits for horseback riding, etc. Ceno’s rich and important people partially emulate the Teryian approach with specialized dresses, but they don’t really go for the “puffy dress” style, instead having multiple types of those national “chiton” clothes. In addition, the Ceno capital is much colder than most of the Ceno territory, so while your current chiton would work around Farsalos, it would be very chilly in it here between mid-autumn to mid-spring. For those cases, chitons/togas in the Elspen and nearby territories are considered the outer layer of clothes worn on top of the warmer inner layers.
>>
>>4890986
First, I recommend that we should think of what occasions you might need outfits for. Just from the top of my mind, you need clothes for… meeting with gods and cups, meeting with Teryian royals and Ihmisetian upper priestess castes, meeting with high, mid and low nobles and their equivalents in Ceno, meeting traders and various managers and clerks both in your new city and in other places, meeting military people that don’t actually participate in battles since for others your armor should do and so on. You’ll also likely need both Ceno and Teryia styles of clothes and a variety of accessories like jewelry, bags, hats, bows, etc. while keeping in mind that combinations of colors and types is used as statements. Wearing deep blue can show that you are on Ceno’s side, which can be good or bad depending on what sort of meeting you visit, as nations and even individual nobles have their colors of choice, and country color is identical to the color of their pantheon at least among the four nations. Ceno is blue, Valistrat is red, HN prefers cream white because pure white is used everywhere already for its “purity” meaning, Etheans go for orange, purple is for Ihmisetians and green is considered the color of Teryian royalty. I also recommend you to get some less official and more casual clothes that are not a mimicry of peasant work attire. You are also getting a ball gown, I insist.”

You joke that something tells you that it would take a while, to which Haven relies that you’d be lucky if we finish ordering those today. She already knows some very good dress makers in Elspen, but those would be quite pricy. Not something that you can’t afford, but you might need to make a quick trip for more money back to Farsalos at that rate, and you still wanted to see the markets…

>Let’s start the dress thing going, the sooner we start the sooner we finish.
>…maybe let’s do the dresses tomorrow? You kind of wanted to see the markets first in case that you’d find something that you want to buy
>…yea, no, you don’t think that you can afford the mental stress of iron age clothes shopping just yet. Maybe later, or maybe you’ll skip all of this entirely, buy some fabrics and sew some clothes on your own?

Please note that I am VERY bad with personal fashion beyond the stuff that I’ve managed to worldbuild, so the more outfit ideas you provide, the more dresses I’d describe. See you guys tomorrow.

"Hahahahah. Just for how long have you been thinking about my clothes my dear?
We shall order one today, just because you seem so ecxited about It and I can't say no to your pretty face.
But I still want to visit the markets and the festival today so we will leave the rest of the clothes shopping for tomorrow is that alright?"

Let's see a dress fitting for metting others godesses, we will visit Valhalla before leaving here, I imagine, so we can use the dress there.
Maybe a nice fancy dress but not too long so It does't restrict our movements, with a nice side cut to help with that.
I'm partial to exposed backs too, and a V cut up front but nothing distasteful.

Make sure to make Haven help us dress so we can tease and flirt

Well, considering that Ag was planning to go to the capital and the fact that Rheia would need a permanent residence of some kind, supplies, booksm, etc., the amount of money that Ag brought is substatial. Far from everything that she has and not enought to buy a house, but still a lot. However, depending on how much of the wardrobe you'd want to buy, you might spend almost all of it on clothes. Luckily for Ag, it takes her all of 2-3 hours of flight to go from the capital to Farsalos and another 2-3 hours to get back to the capital with the cash, so spendings can be separated into several days.

If no one minds, first Ag would order a single dress and gets to know the seamstress, and then spends the rest of her day looking around the market, while tomorrow she can start going for the clothes more seriously. This should fit with the current votes

As you think more and more about what Haven has just said, you start laughing: “So, how long have you been thinking about my clothes?” Haven blushes, realizing that her interest in your fashion was a bit peculiar and replies: “Roughly since you’ve officially presented yourself to Ceno pantheon. It’s not really a problem to wear what you want when almost nobody knows about you, but we are way past the point of when you’d need a full wardrobe. I just… didn’t know how to approach the subject…” In response you smile and give her a pat on the shoulder. “You know what? Let’s order a dress today, since you seem excited and I can’t say no to such enthusiasm. But I still want to visit the markets and the festival today. Let’s leave the clothes shopping for tomorrow, alright?” She nods and says that this would be fine, custom high-quality outfits usually take weeks to make anyway. You poke Rheia, but she responds that she doesn’t feel like shopping today, and she wants to brush up on her books. You shrug and allow her the rest of the evening to study and on the way out you pay for the dinner to be delivered to her room so that she doesn’t miss it. As you and Haven leave the inn, you offhandedly tell her: “Let’s see what you want me to wear” and smirk, which causes the noble elf lady to look at you with wide eyes as her face becomes redder and redder. You weren’t a bully in school, but this just never gets old to lightly tease your friend.

It is roughly 5pm and the first stop has to be the seamstress, since you need to wrap up with the order before similar service businesses close for the night. The market keeps going deep into the night so you are not that concerned about missing something important. If it is unique, it is likely very expensive, so it should hang in the markets for a while. If not, it is likely in significant supply in the country’s capital of all places. Anyway, Haven seems to know a place in particular, a famous seamstress guild known as “Roselline Taylor’s” that specifically focuses on custom clothes for very wealthy people. It is actually a branch of the guild from Teryia that is famous for supplying the royal family with clothes. The original store in Teryia capital is still ran by said Roselline almost since the city’s formation. They should have access to basically all fabrics available and imported in Ceno and Teryia, plus they might have some experience in dealing with gods. You ask to clarify the last part, and apparently the reason for the existence of Elspen branch is thanks for Valentina, who visited the original store in Teryia and is told to be very impressed with their work. There are also some stories that it was visited by cups and even an independent goddess, but they refuse to elaborate and thus it might be just a rumor. “Well, it won’t be a rumor for long…” you murmur. Haven understands the hint and hides her house’s crest better.
>>
>>4893964
The guild’s building is actually located inside of the Pantheon District, placed to the side of one of the entrances and hugging the district’s wall from the inside. It is a long rectangular four-story building, which looks somewhat different from the rest of the buildings nearby. While Ceno buildings prefer whitewashed stone, rounded columns and arches, this building is made of plain brick of creamy white color and it has pointy windows, tiny balconies with painted iron railings and stone ribs protruding from its structure, along with intricate steeply pitched roofs. It also has a very generous wraparound garden. Some aspects of it remind you of gothic or Victorian architecture, or at least the far grandchild of them. As you arrive, you note a covered carriage with two Teryian elves in uniforms standing on both sides of the open door, as a Teryian gentleman leaves the building with another elf gentleman in much simpler but still dapper clothes carrying a costume holder, both board the carriage with the guards and shortly leave. You presume that this is one of the happy customers, likely one of the nobles considering a large insignia of a lynx or a caracal on the carriage.

As he leaves, you make your way to the entrance and open the doors. The interior contains a lot of darker wood with numerous glow- quartz crystals positioned to mimic candles giving the entrance a very warm and comfy feeling. The floor is covered with an exquisite red carpet and walls are covered in wallpapers and paintings. When you open the door, it rings a small bell and a few moments later one of the interior doors open and an old human lady in her early 60s walks in, her hair is almost entirely grey and she keeps it in a tidy bun. She is wearing simple clothes of mostly brown color, but they are still excellently made from high quality materials, and she has access to actual glasses which are a luxury in these times. She bows politely and introduces herself as Ulrika Gesani, one of the head seamstresses, and she asks how she may help the two of you today, commenting that this is unusual for a monster huntress to visit such a place, much less for two of them.

You introduce yourself as Agatha, and you almost offhandedly mention that monster hunting is not the main thing that you do. “…I’ve heard that there is a rumor that a goddess has once visited this place, I’m not sure about the truthfulness of such claim before…” you say as you pull out your halo from your bag and place it above your head, “but I guess that it is true now.” The old lady squints her eyes and pulls her glasses a bit forward to take a better look, after which her eyes grow wide and she replies: “Oh my goodness, this is quite unexpected. How may we be helpful to a goddess?” You explain that you’ve been thinking of ordering a custom dress for yourself, and your friend has recommended this place as one of the best in the capital. At the same time, you remove your halo and put it back in the bag so that it attracts less attention. Ulrika bows and says that she needs a little bit of time to prepare everything, and she asks the two of you to sit in the lobby for a few minutes, after which she bows out.

As the two of you sit on a sofa in the lobby, a young woman shows up and delivers you a teapot full of black tea and a couple of cups. After she leaves, you tell Haven: “…please don’t tell me that Teryians drink a lot of tea and have a stiff upper lip culture” Haven replies with an “uhhh… okay?” and doesn’t elaborate further. Great, looks like Teryians are British fantasy elves. “Is this architectural style common?” Haven nods and says “Yes, it is based on the structures that were constructed by our pantheon, however those beyond Teryia itself were built after they’ve left.” Oh right, that makes sense, Ceno patheon likes Greco- roman style, Teryian pantheon liked Victorian Britain architecture. For a moment you’ve thought that you’re not in the future of your world, but in some weird isekai novel written by a writer who was too lazy to worldbuild cultures, but now it does seem consistent.

You manage to finish one cup of this delicious tea when one of the guild’s employees shows up and offers to guide you upstairs where the seniors are waiting. You are led into a relatively large room on the third floor where you are met with over a dozen people, including the old woman from before. 2/3 of them are Teryian elves and all of them are women. Most of them are wearing semi- uniform brown dresses with white aprons like Ulrika, but one of them is different. That black haired elven woman seems to be holding herself higher than the rest of the employees and she is wearing an impressive emerald green dress with a large piece of jewelry attached around the right hip, which has the stylized image of the skein of thread, scissors and a needle. She introduces herself as Maella Taylor, she is the sister of Roselline Taylor and she runs Elspen branch of the guild. Curiously, her surname is not a translation from Ceno Lingua, but a literal English surname “Taylor”, apparently it was granted as an honorific that they now utilize as a surname. After a quick demonstration of your powers, your halo and your request not to make a big deal from your presence, the group started the process of brainstorming a design while asking you on what specifically you’d want the dress to be like. For now, they’ll design and start making a single outfit, but you mentioned that you would probably return to arrange an entire wardrobe at a later date. You are also reassured that they have access to the best fabrics and the most skilled hands in the city, along with partnerships with some of the best jewelers so they can complete the entire outfit “in house”.

You decide that the first outfit should be designed for fancy official meetings with extremely important people such as foreign gods, political elites, royalty, high nobility, etc. You also provide the symbolism that you’ve designed for yourself in the form of a rolled-up banner all the while an army of seamstresses were taking your measurements. You’ll leave the small details to the professionals, but you still need to make some decisions such as…

The style of dress:
>Cenophilan cultural woman’s dress: represented by the long skirt with the base not much wider than the hips, which doesn’t obstruct the application of chiton as the outer layer of clothes which extends to the ancles. If the chiton is not applicable, such as in the case of a more casual meeting, it is usually replaced by a variety of outer layers such as jackets, wraps, coats, additional skirts and so on. Teryian influence has merged the bodice and the skirt into one, while historically they were separate
>Cenophilan cultural man- inspired dress: in Ceno, women are allowed to wear pants, however they represent different qualities of personality which are usually associated with men. Ceno people prefer straight pants or pants with a “boot cut” coupled with a blouse/tunic with additional upper clothes on top of that. The chiton/toga designed with men-oriented design is up to around the knee, with the same approach as with women’s dress for removing it for casual events and replacing it with a jacket or a coat. Ceno men like geometric ornaments in their clothes with one main color

>Teryian style of dress: represented by a wide, puffy and multilayered skirt with integrated bodice and usually a light corset. It is most commonly accompanied by further layers of clothes carrying decorative purpose. The skirt is most commonly long, but it is possible to have it up to knee short, which is usually accompanied by a partially open long skirt, the style of which was pioneered by the queen herself. These dresses usually, but not always, contain a large piece of jewelry or other form of decoration as a “center piece” placed on the back of the dress at the belt level and spreading up and down the spine for up to 5 centimeters, or in the front in the area where a belt buckle should be.
>Teryian ball gown: very similar in style to a normal dress, but the skirt is now supported by a wireframe and ribs of light, springy and yet sturdy material allowing for the skirt to be even wider. It is accompanied by a much more serious corset and vastly increased levels of opulence in decorations. It is used almost exclusively for banquets by Teryian nobility due to sheer bulk of such an outfit
>Teryian male- oriented dress: the closest thing that you can get to a military uniform or a tuxedo, outside of specifically helping to design a new type of clothes. Teryians prefer pants with puffy thighs similar to jodhpurs which are designed for horseback riding, coupled with a blouse, vest and a jacket. Teryian nobility prefers patterned coloration consisting of a main and secondary color, while rich commoners prefer a single main color with little in terms of patterns or ornaments
>Custom designed outfit based on your times: technically, since no one here knows of how you’ve lived, you can claim that crocs, hotpants and jaguar print is the height of fashion, but you’d prefer not to do that. Still, you can try to take elements from the clothes that existed in your time, or in the past, and apply them to any of the suggested styles. Alternatively, you can write down blueprints for an entire outfit to recreate it from your memory.

Main color:
>Brick reddish- brown: the color that you’ve selected for your banner’s background. If you represent yourself, it probably makes sense to utilize your colors, right? It should also go well with your Martian soil red hair
>Deep blue color: Ceno’s national color which also represents their pantheon. Associated with calmness and trust
>Vibrant red: an eye- catching color representing passion and love, but also aggressiveness. Used everywhere by Valistrat Empire, but it is possible to pick a shade that is different enough not to cause the association
>Emerald Green: the color of Teryian royalty, which is usually not permitted to be used as a main color in official dresses, but that extends only towards Teryian nobles. Taylor family was permitted to wear it as a sign of great respect, and for you it would nicely fit your green eyes
>Royal Purple: the color mostly associated with exotics and mysteries. While not uncommon or overly expensive, it is rare to see it in dresses. In addition, it seems to be the best equivalent of country’s color for Ihmisetian Remnant.

And on this note we wrap up for this week. Thank you for taking part in Synthetic Gods Quest, guys. I know that fashion design is not that common of a subject on 4chan of all places, but I would welcome any ideas on the design elements that you’d wish to implement. As always, feel free to ask questions, suggest and discuss.

Hmmm
I'll have to go with

>Cenophilan cultural man- inspired dress: in Ceno, women are allowed to wear pants, however they represent different qualities of personality which are usually associated with men. Ceno people prefer straight pants or pants with a “boot cut” coupled with a blouse/tunic with additional upper clothes on top of that. All the dress options seem too....bulky and suffocating

As for the color

>Brick reddish- brown: the color that you’ve selected for your banner’s background. If you represent yourself, it probably makes sense to utilize your colors, right? It should also go well with your Martian soil red hair
Should do us well

I do want a dress but I was thinking of something lighter, I don't know

does something like pic related work but on our colors?

this works too, maybe we could get both

Well, technically all clothes are made to be bulky. In modern times, we live in a series of climate controlled habitats. Getting out of your heated house, taking 20 seconds to get into your heated car and then taking a minute getting from a parking lot into a heated office allows one to essentially wear almost exclusively room temperature clothes. Here in Ceno, on the other hand, you have extremes of hot and cold, so costumes reflect that. They come in layers, you put in more layers if it is a bit chilly, and you wear less layers all the way up to only one when it’s warm. Men related clothing is also layered for the same purpose, with them forgoing pants all the way up to essentially shorts during hot periods. Teryian rich outfits are slightly less practical for being outside, since they are designed to be used for occasions that are usually indoors, but not by much. Also way more people wear hats, while hat fashion almost died out by 21 century.
>>
>>4894745
Well, yes. The example of Ceno female outfit that I gave is more in terms of coloration and how wide is the skirt, not really in other terms. The long useless sleeves are not in fashion though, but the rest of your suggestion would work as a base layer with more decorations and functional layers in case of cold weather. Also note that you can use basically any color that can be reasonably found in nature, along with intense colors from that pigment plant, I added color theory mostly for the reasons of adding something related to colors in a post about color choices.
>>
>>4898417
in that case I'm very partial to combinations of black and deep blue

We have one guy who wants the manly Ceno outfit, two guys who want women's Ceno dress and one guy who wants a ball gown, I think that a week is more than enough to vote, so I will lock these choices, and regarding colors I will meld both choices for women's Ceno dress. Unfortunately, I'll only have the time to post tomorrow, so for now there is the following vote, which would determine how many costumes we take and how much cash Ag would have for shopping later:

>Only women's ceno dress: low impact on available cash(7 cash units remain)
>Ceno package of dresses: both womanly and manly option (6 cash units remain)
>All the girly options: Ceno dress and the ball gown (5 cash units, ball gown is a bit more expensive)
>Take everything: all three options with the significant impact on available cash (4 cash units)

Reminder that you can pick an option to fly home and back for more funds at a later date, this just represents the money that Ag has with her.

After a couple hours of discussing clothes styles and looking at examples of fabrics, patterns and colors, you’ve finished designing the main elements of the two outfits that you’ve selected. Yeah, you decided to go with two outfits, an outfit inspired by men’s clothing in Ceno, and the one designed after Ceno women’s national attire. Your main consideration was versatility, since you should be able to mix and match various layers from various outfits, while you could go for something more specialized like a ball gown at a later date. In addition, this should still leave you with enough cash to buy something else in the evening. But before you walk out into the market streets, let’s review what you’ve picked in detail.

For the outfit inspired by men’s clothes, you decided to go with the brick/terracotta brownish-red color that you’ve used as a background for your own banner for both the pants and the jacket, going for the same color recommendations used for business suits in your time (same color jacket and pants). However, only one color would not do, since this would cause your frame to merge into one large blob of color and it would be near impossible to get exactly the same shade if all of the clothes weren’t dyed in the same tub at the same time, which would make people feel like something is wrong. Thus, other garments would include other colors. In fact, in case of this outfit, you’d be getting alternative versions of pants and jackets with different patterns and colors, not even counting different tunics, essentially forming a wardrobe that can be used all year round. The best colors that go with the color of your choice would be white, black, various shades of gray, brown, beige, darker shades of green and blue, yellow-orange and a few others. Luckily, your banner also includes black, green, yellow(gold) and white, so you’ll use those as secondary colors for the most official option. You’ve decided to forgo the “insignia print” that Teryian outfits favor, and you went for one large insignia on the left side of the official jacket, with a variety of simple patterns and textures on various versions of outfits, without going overboard with complexity like some rich Ceno people do, who commission patterns that look more like murals and depict legends or famous events. You’d also be getting a couple coats, jackets and shoes made from brown leather as well as a rugged longcoat to replace your brand of sircoat. All in all, you’ll look very dapper all year round.

The most expensive dress from the women’s cultural wardrobe would be made mainly out of dark purple and deep blue with black used for accents to display your connection with Ihmisetians. The dress skirt is pleated with blue used in the foreground fold and purple used inside of the fold with the purple fabric enhanced with some kind of fluorescent weave which would make it look like the dress is glowing from the inside. You’ve been warned that this effect gets “charged” while in the light and slowly dims over hours in darkness until the glowing stops. The dress itself would be accompanied with a wide variety of accessories and jewelry for both the aesthetics and to be used as political tools to display support. In addition to that one- piece dress, you’ll also receive several skirts of various lengths that would be designed to be compatible with the rest of the wardrobe that was mentioned previously, in addition to shoes with higher heels (courtesy of them being popular in Teryia), some flat shoes of a more feminine design and a bunch of accessories such as bags, less opulent jewelry, things like scarves and some pieces of clothes with more feminine designs.

The almost mandatory togas/chitons would be the most expensive pieces of clothing and they would come in the short and long version (from men’s and women’s collection). The seamstresses want to do it out of a fabric that they weave in- house from several types of string imported from various corners of the world. They didn’t tell you all of the components and refused to share manufacturing process, but apparently it utilizes at least giant spider silk and silverweave from Ethea and HN in its structure as well as another type of silk imported from the North- East by people from beyond the Four Nations and some type of chemical imported from the dwarven kingdoms. The resulting fabric is incredibly light and breathing, in addition to being stretchy, very difficult to tear and it has a unique feature that they could hardly describe but which was well known to you: it is very hydrophobic, which means it never gets wet, it never gets stained and any dirt that gets on it slides right off making it basically self- cleaning on the go. It would also include silver strands for edge embellishments which are somehow treated not to oxidize with time and you’d get an over the shoulder band similar to what Elspen officials wear to color code their positions, but made with color of your banner and your insignia.

>>4911580
All in all, you are very happy, although it was a bit more expensive than you’ve expected, mostly because you grabbed whole wardrobes instead of just single pieces of extremely expensive clothing. You’ve used up a significant part of the cash buffer that you took along with you, and you’ll be limited in large purchases until you either make some money in the capital or until you fly all the way home and back which would take about 8 hours without straining yourself. You’ve budgeted food, inn and minor expenses separately so you don’t risk getting stuck without money, but if you spend everything that you have spare, you won’t have the cash to buy anything expensive or big. Also, you should keep in mind that you need to buy a present for Rheia, after all you don’t doubt that she’ll pass and she would also have a birthday very soon…

After paying your goodbyes and first half of the payment for clothing, you and Haven walk out of the seamstress building and head towards the main street of the capital, which acts as an incredibly long market, stretching from the docks all the way to the Pantheon District and city’s center. Colloquially known as the Great Market, this is the largest market in the region. It is said that if a good is not sold here, it can’t be found anywhere else in the Four Nations.

While the sun is going down, the life in the market still keeps going. It is roughly 9 pm right now, and the city officials forbid carriages from using the city streets until about 8 and it is customary for a lot of vendors to work until around 1-2 am. For one reason or another, a weird culture of rare product hunting in this specific time window appeared in Elspen. Some stores get depleted around this time and close up, awaiting early morning to restock, but some stores, especially those that don’t go through their inventories quickly, decide to top up their assortment to ride this cultural craze and sell the “freshest” unique goods. This event is not a “splurge” for all vendors, after all a place that sells jewelry or relics doesn’t get resupplied every day, but there are still enough stores for it to happen every day at least somewhere. Today it seems to be one of the more intense days. With the start of the University Week, Elspen attracted a lot of “tourists” which, of course, bought out a lot of stuff, which means that more stores than usual decided to restock their assortment. You just need to decide on what to look for…

You have 6 units of money; you know the drill:

> Giant Spider Silk (2 money points, only one item available):
You’ve walked past a bulk fabrics vendor that was just supplying a few smaller vendors and, in the cart, he had a large wooden cylinder which was just over a meter long that contained a lot of thick milky white thread, or more accurately thin milky white cable. You’ve asked him about it, and he claims that it is one of the types of threads extracted by Holy Nation and Etheans from the Collapse located between their territories. Apparently, it is inhabited with a type of absolutely gigantic arachnids that spin a variety of extremely valuable webs. Some webs are thin and used in clothing (and cocoons with unlucky harvesters according to rumors), some are sticky and almost completely transparent while these are utilized as main support structures of the spider webs. While there are a lot of webs to collect, apparently it is a dangerous profession. You’ve tested a small piece of the string and it has material properties exceeding performance of Darwin’s bark spider silk, giant spider major ampullate silk is 14 times tougher than Kevlar while being 1/6 of the density of steel. It is also very ductile, capable of stretching almost five times its original length which makes it pretty useless as bowstring. Still, it is an amazing material for other purposes

>A strange container (1 money point, only one item available):
A strange ceramic jar that you found in an alleyway store. Apparently, it contains a being that was caught in a country far to the south and shipped in by Ethean traders quite a while ago. The owner opened the large glazed ceramic jar and inside you can see what you can only describe as archetypical fantasy slime. It contains highly viscous fluid of a light blue color with a semi- transparent deep blue orb floating in that liquid around the middle of the container. Shop owner threw in an apple core that he just finished eating, the slime extended two pseudopods and pulled it inside from its surface, where the apple core started bubbling. “’ey said ‘ey found it in a swamp, some sort of monster. Eats basically any food refuse and it shrinks if not watered until only core remains. If reintroduced to water and food it grows, but don’t let it grow too much as it is dangerous. The bigger it is, the more tricks it can pull off, and I’ve ‘eard stories from sailors that they can grow to the size of a house, leaving only bones of whatever or whoever was unlucky enough to get caught, and some can even mimic humans. Also don’t stick fingers in, the burns take forever to heal fully. The bugger is smarter than it seems.”

>The Mechanical Eye (4 money points, only one item available, roll 1d20 to try to lower the price)
You found it in a store that sells various random loot from Labyrinth expeditions, buried under some useless crap like pretty rocks, monster parts or glow- quartz. The eye doesn’t react to anything and seems to be disabled, but its design reminds you of the golem heart that you’ve acquired recently and you can tell that it contains some type of advanced psi sensor, much more complicated than what’s in Elspeth’s primer on psi circuitry. The shop owner thinks that you could use it as a sort of prosthesis if you manage to find a good enough magician, but you feel like he has just made that up because a previous customer asked about the item as if it was a piece of jewelry, and the shop owner said that he’d sell it for the equivalent of 3 money units.

>The Orb of Attraction (3 money points, only one item available):
Looks like it was not bought since you’ve last been here, you even found it in the same store! An icosahedron the size of a bowling ball made out of a monolithic transparent crystal that seems to attract objects the closer they are to it up to the point of 1,5G on the very surface. The crystal itself is of a dark purple color and it gets less and less visible as you look deeper inside of it, however it shouldn’t go absolutely vantablack at its center, as if it is much “deeper” than it should be due to its size. With your powers, you try to probe it, but your telekinesis doesn’t “exit” on the other side of the orb either, and crystal doesn’t let your psi energy to probe into itself for any circuitry it might have. Peculiar…

>Teryian Fragrance (2 money points): a box full of tiny vials filled with fragrant solutions which is sold in a store ran by a Teryian elf that sells rare Teryian imports. Some of the vials have a fruity smell, others are more floral and a couple smell almost like sweets. The smell of each one of them is almost intoxicating. Teryian high class perfumes are ones of the most expensive perfumes in the Four Nations region and they are known to have a long- lasting effect and a very pleasant aroma, with Ethean perfume being in the strong second place in the price range. Haven checks the initials on the bottles and the box as well as some papers produced by the shop owner and confirms that these are legit. While it would be almost impossible to notice among the rich variety of smells, you do notice a characteristic smell of ambergris, a grey fatty substance produced by the digestive systems of sperm whales. So, they did somehow survive, huh…

>A puppy! (2 money points):
What you didn’t expect to find is a pet store owning such a large building. After finding out that it sells only exotic animals, you didn’t expect the store to have an enclosure with a dozen of cute husky puppies with amazing blue eyes. Well, you should’ve expected that they are not just dogs, they are “Fenrirs” which is a very familiar word to you. They are essentially a very special breed of dogs from Lady of the Frost Eira’s island, the one inhabited with snow elves that have soft furry ears. Over 3 years they grow up to the size where they can carry an adult person, they never tire as long as they have the food, they feel well in both hot and cold temperatures, they seem to never get ill, heal quickly and they are very smart and loyal, to the point that their ability to follow commands of their owners borders on supernatural… as long as the owner spends enough time bonding with the doggo of course.

>Look for something specific: a writein option, sometimes the choice of present requires a bit more effort, or maybe you just want to look for a specific category, such as what else is in the exotic pet shop.

Actually, I’m not sure if the doggo is a great choice for Ag in particular, since it needs a lot of bonding over a significant amount of time. We do have a history of doing work while not returning home for a while or going after something dangerous alone not to endanger other people. We did leave Rheia alone plenty of times, just for the last half a year or so Haven was around to keep her company on a permanent basis and helped with Rheia’s education. Ag tended to appear for a week or two, printed some books, tutored and helped Rheia as well as she could and set off to do other stuff for a month. Still, if you want, you can get a doggo for Ag, I just believe that it would be a better choice as a present for a friend/follower… like Rheia or Haven.

the rest of the money we use to complete our wardrobe with everyday clothes and take Haven for a fancy dinner to thank her for everything she has done to us and to use our fancy clothes as a test. Give her the dinner of her life.

Well, looks like everyone wants a puppy. Time to decide what the rest of the purchases would be. To make it more even, I'll change the price for successful persuasion check on the Eye item from 3 to 2 points so that there is no need to sacrifice an extra point. That's right, normally it's 4, if you guys roll 1d20 high enough, it can go to 2 points.

In any case, stage 2 of choosing, doggo option locked. 4 money points remaining, here are the options available:

>Teryian Fragrance, 2 points
>The Eye, 4 points with chance for 2. You don't have to buy it if you roll low
>Giant Spider Silk, 2 points
>Extra doggo, although Haven doesn't seem too interested in a pet when you tried to offer it as an option to her, 2 points
>Dinner for Haven, a plushie or a tabletop game for Rheia and limited quantity of common clothing would count as minor expenses. Going for something way extra (like the fanciest restaurant you can find, a plushie the size of Rheia, jewelled chess set or another full wardrobe for Ag) would cost 1 point per option.
