Welcome back Governor.

We will follow the footsteps of Jonathan Wells, the new governor of a colonial city named Arkuland, a unique city founded by the industrial giants of the North and the arcane goliath of the east in an untouched paradise. Will you able to satiate the endless hunger of the powers of the old world or perhapsl forge a new path? The fate of Arkuland is in your hands.

It has been a few months since you took charge, you have found yourself entangled in various types of webs: A mystical one with the Wonderchild who was free to return to her people and an intriguing one with The Strays who aimed to kill both your economic advisor and your prime legislator, only to partially succeed in the matter.

Mutilated no more

The slave trader known as Safaal Monhett did put in a good word for you with powerful men and women in the land of the east. Was this perhaps to amend his horrific deeds done in your city? Unlikely. Self-intrest comes to mind, you know his type all too well...

+1 Wing (0) [Neutral]

It started like any other day, you stretched your old bones out of the bed getting ready for a morning bath. The moment you took off your clothes, your wife had let out a chilling cry.

"Your back..." She muttered , hand covering her mouth. Confused, You stared at your back through the mirror only to find something... extraordinary.

It had no scars, no jagged elevations, nothing. The mutilations of the past were gone, replaced by a relatively smooth skin devoid of painful memories. Old Margret should be happy, YOU should be happy and yet this miracle was unsettling to say the least. Naturally, your wife demanded answers. Your silence will only worsen the situation.

Welcome back, snail.

We've seen how often we miss useful option from lack of stats, I'd rather lose some personal favour with our wife than the appearance of unity between us in the public eye.

However, I do wonder if it would be better to just blame it on the Wonderchild and be done with this. We would take a big hit to our unity and a small one to our relationship, but at least we wouldn't lie to Margret and it would explain any future changes to our physiology or any magic powers we suddenly gain and can't control in the future. The problem is, Margret may still take small negative maluses whenever future changes bring up as our spirtual marriage to another causes her to get jealous, along with the fact that the Wonderchild is doing for us what years of tender loving care by Margret's hands could never do.

I will also remind anons that we promised never to lie to Margret, so if we break this promise and she finds out we may be fucked. Or maybe I'm misremembering but I remember that at the very least we said that we have never lied to her, which is not quite the same as promising never to lie to her, but meh.

However the Diplomacy and Intrigue options could have the same problem if we have future physiological changes, thus potentially exposing our lies or revealing we were distracting her from the truth. We may be able to mitigate this however, with the Diplomacy option we could just explain we were caught up in the Euphoria and wanted to celebrate and with the Intrigue option we could say that we DID pay Da'eea to heal our back but the newest physiological changes (if they occur) are probably a result of the Wonderchild.

I have some thoughts on the events but will wait until choices regarding them become relevant.

-4 Margret Thornwall (5)
+1 Intrigue (3) [ Honest Aize ]

" Have they now? How do you break their creed so easily? Were her hands softer then mine?"

"Margret, please." You choked on your words upon seeing how heartbroken your wife was. Nevertheless, there was a hint of joy in her sullen eyes. There was nothing you could say or do at the moment to make your other half feel better. Sadly, you had to leave it at that.

The empty chair

The death of your economic advisor had left its mark in Arkuland starting with the Sword-Law who wanted to execute the host himself ; the laws of hospitality is an integral part of eastern culture, one of such condemns the host for any strike of misfortune upon their guests.. Alas, the noble (or rather his family) owns several mining companies which in turn brings great wealth to Arkuland. He was virtually untouched.

As for the prime legislator, She has been awfully silent about her near-death experience shying away from any thirsty reporter. You do not like this silence. Will those Strays strike her once more? It is hard to tell especially when they hadn't attempt to communicate with you since last time.

The task of choosing Mr. Medehat's successor falls upon you, his delicate position shouldn't be vacant for too long after all.

Miss Adeel had a staggering amount of candidates, five to be exact. This is very unusual; three has been always the most optimal number, why the sudden change?

" Governor, I must remind you that the Northern Union are expecting you to have one of their own as the next economic advisor....particularly those with blue blood."

"I appreciate your concern, thank you." An easterner then a northerner... the cycle must continue to achieve the balance in power. Very interesting.

After dismissing you secretary, you took a deep breath before examining each file. It went as follows :

- Montengrate Fuseon : A blue-blood through and through. She hails from one of the wealthiest kingdoms in the union. Although the
radiant recommendations for her are shimmering your blind, you can't help but to notice her young age; how can you trust or value the opinion of someone with nineteen summers behind their back? Ridiculous! It is quite insulting to send someone so inexperienced and naive to you. However, there is something to be said about the girl's enthusiasm, She did send you a letter full of promises to purge any trace of corruption beneath her feet should you choose her.

- Yusook Nehaas : An easterner prince of many titles, none of which are related to his regal line for he had abandoned them in favor of a mercantile life. Not only does he wish to be your economic advisor but also he desire to establish some presence in Arkuland. Yes, the great powers still controls what goes in and out of Arkuland but with his help, you might be able to tip the scales a little bit to your favour.

2/?
>>

- Barbsna Valtero : Your recent popularity with the territorians alongside the latest addition to your cabinet was responsible for this Westerner candidate. You have a literal no one who worked diligently under Medehat's corrupt thumb. A man like him knows the ins and the outs of Arkuland's budget. He has enough experience for this position... provided that you could endure the following pressure of the great powers. They won't easily accept another territorian in power.

- Asmaa Ithaar : Also known as the woman with many faces, forty years ago, she was a deadly crimson dirge dancing in the battlefield until the pale had abandoned her leaving her with a disfigured face and a shattered body. Several decades later, Miss Asmaa had forged a new path in life through grit and grit alone. The Easterner does retain a shadow of her former self. She will be the first to uncover a malicious scheme aimed at you.

- Maxim Goodwell : A philanthropist, thrill seeker and a favorite of Governor Ayyah thanks to his generous donation. It is extremely absurd to see someone who dabbled as little as possible in politics as a candidate among more deserving individuals. The only thing he might offer is some popularity across the board, that's it... his generosity is running dry as of late. Something did caught your eyes in his file, a copper ring bearing a vicious head of a dog. What in the world?

So I made kind of a controversial choice by adding -x Stat thing since we could technically get +1-4 stat PER MONTH if you we are playing our cards right. I hope you don't mind a bit of rebalance.

In this prompt for an example, should we go for Maxim or Montengrate, we are basically hiring either incompetent or inexperienced people which will reflect on our current diplomatic stat

Choosing to defy the Northern Union's expectations for new economic advisor turns out out to be quite cheap on the consequences.

I'll mention some thoughts on the choices. Yusoof has the intriguing bit about possibly slightly lessening our reliance on imports, or if I'm misreading it then at the very least he gives us another private citizen with the connections and transportation capacity to privately conduct trade in such a manner that we are slightly more free in our trading capacity.

I'm against Fuseon entirely, we haven't had a trouble reducing corruption so far and corrupt choices often offer us valuable alternative choices. Her trait not only doubles the rate of corruption loss (which we haven't had trouble with) but doubles the career loss cost of choosing corrupt options and of those career is the more valuable and damning if it gets low or hits rock bottom, whereas corruption has been mentioned to be able to be dealt with by copious amounts of money or by purging the government of corrupt individuals. Finally, she costs us a stat, a first for the quest, and a severe problem because we have already been frequently cut off from valuable options from lack of stats. Though I do understand the need for stat reductions when the quest is supposed to last 3 in game years.

Barbsna would be my next choice, we are low on the stats that are penalized but not critically so, the real reason to get him is the trait, the potential to get the objectively most optimal choice is invaluable, though perhaps a tad boring, but I assume we'd still have to guess which is the most optimal one as it may not be apparent because some choices can have long-term impacts. It is also valuable because the saying "you can do everything right and still fail" applies to this quest because of lack of knowledge of the long term impacts of some of our choices or because of lack of stats.

Asmaa could be valuable as a spymaster but it is probably better to get a independent one whose loyalty is not in question and doesn't have an ??? factor. She serves the Eastern Wing and may try and frame our Northern personnel for wrongdoings or something. Also we need a economic advisor, not spymaster.

As for Maxim, he is probably a Stray based on his ring, but we don't know if we like them yet and I don't like their coercive tone, so fuck em. We don't need the Strays to secure a good future for all citizens of Arkuland or to secure independence.
>>
>>4875871
The great powers won't allow any private trade, everything must go under them first. It is their way of controlling Arkuland. Still, Mr. Yusoo(k) is willing to bring more goods after the approval of the Wing first. More goods= more trade=more happiness and prosperity, at least for the middle class since the rich aren't exactly impacted by such laws and the poor will remain poor seeking only their basic needs. As for corruption, We shouldn't rest on our laurels. It is manageable for the time being but things can turn sour real fast.

Ah, I see, thanks for clarifying. Although, regardless of how authoritarian or centralized the government is or isn't, it is hard to believe that either the Union or the Wing has the authority or political clout or even the might (superpower status or not) to control their own populations ability to flout restrictions on trade, even with steampunk technology and magic, historically such things were basically impossible to enforce. Plus the Union at the very least seems to be formed from a bunch of different smaller polities, presumably with their own cultures and local laws, so I'm surprised they'd be willing to obey such a command from the highest level seeing as we have several unique commodities to trade.

As for corruption, I can only predict how things will be based on our experiences in the first thread where it was relatively manageable. That and hopefully our administration will get less corrupt with us replacing the more corrupt cabinet members, or at least replace their corruption with our own brand of it. I also assume that corrupt choices will continue to offer enticing or useful alternatives, so if that stays the same it will sometimes be worth it even if gets less manageable in the future. It is also hard to imagine our political system getting significantly more corrupt than it already is, exponential increases or even by an order of magnitude would be unimaginable for me at least. Or rather, perhaps that isn't true, plenty of real life administrations were probably way more corrupt but what I mean to say is that our system already has a relatively high base level of corruption it seems. (Not the stat but stuff like cronyism and nepotism and morally bankrupt practices) So, unless there is an exponential increase in corruption I don't think it is worth the punishing cost of double career costs for corrupt choices, because the ratio of corruption removed and career losses stay the same but we lose our job if career hits -5 and Montengrate is inexperienced and gives us a stat debuff, making it a net negative.
>>
>>4876119
I mean on paper, they do. However, that doesn't stop smugglers from exploiting the tight market. Keep in mind that trading in general is intercontinental trading (between old and new world) isn't something feasible for many businesses due to the long arduous journey through unsafe/unnatural weather combined with the audacious tariffs from the Wing/the Union (The Union is far more sleazy, The Wing is slightly more restrained thanks to their religion). It is a big risk for independent merchants and smaller companies to trade since they can't increase the prices on their own to absorb some of the losses (they will have to double/triple it) , All prices are regulated by the Wing/Union. To even dream of changing it, the market must address them first skipping our governing body entirely.

+Trait: Scarlet road

Mr. Yusook had proven himself to be an outstanding successor to the late Mr. Medehat in just a few days. He had showered everyone in gifts, had you not met him in person, you would think he is solidifying his current position via bribes but alas... his intents were of pure nature unlike the slug six feet under, The 'Scarlet Prince', as they call him insists on bearing gifts to his new home. New colours of spices and textile had entered the market with affordable prices. The territorians were surprised to see fresh fruits of their homelands in market stalls, even your kin were delighted to find rather uncommon bottles of spirits and perfumes available. Everyone was happy especially the easterners.

Well, Except for the Union.

They wanted that child to be your economic advisor so bad that they had called you via a telewave demanding to reconsider your 'brash' choice. You had decline their request respectively stating that Mr. Yusook is already making wonders in Arkuland. You have angered your masters once again, for how long will they tolerate your actions?

Bloody Whispers

" Sokeot, Janth Wall..."

" Sokeot, We-eills...Bl-ood..."

"Sokeot, Jo-on. Save You-Kinnd. Away-Go."

You sprang out of the bed in the middle of the night, drenched in cold sweat. Her voice...It felt so real, as if she is calling you from beyond. You went to the bathroom to wash your pale face. The mirror had a handprint of a child, one stained with blood.

It wasn't right to wake up Margret, you ought to clean it yourself... just what had you gotten yourself into?

You spent the rest of the night thinking about these bloody whispers. They resembled a plea...or a warning. Is the Wonderchild trying to tell you something? Curses.

Your lack of sleep had made you sluggish like a battered snail yearning to hide in its broken shell. It was one of the few times when you had to skip work. Gustav thought you were ill, but you assured him that everything is fine.

Come noon, your secretary had paid you an unexpected visit. You might have skipped your duties today but your duties will haunt you wherever you are.

Margaret practically strapped the poor easterner to the dining chair for lunch. Even the Governor of Arkuland had no power over Margret Thornwall. When you three were done, Miss Adeel was finally ready to discuss urgent matters with you.

"I am afraid there are several issues that will require your full attention, Governor. I apologize for not waiting until tomorrow."

"It is fine." You replied with a gentle smile "What troubles our fine city?"

Three problems were laid on the table. One rearing its ugly head while the rest had recently sprouted:

- Frozen Pearl Encampment : Some time ago, you ordered one of your own to report any suspicious findings in regards to Miss Romayah Shilal and her operation in the encampment. well, the Easterner had simply vanished without a trace and Miss Romayah is not willing to cooperate with us on the matter.

- Proposition U-11 : The one which you had ignored last month in favor of dealing with the Zofierroian. The proposition discusses potential methods to increase our Haash Elixir/ Nythriem production.

- The Veagherrnv Tribe : There is a situation developing between a small isolated tribe called the Veaghermv or The Salt-hairs and a special mining company protected by the 18th Expeditionary Battalion. No blood has been spilled for the time being.

>Your body demands some rest [???]
The world will not end if you forsook your duties for a single day

>Overview prop. U-11 [Different results according to your choices!]
It is high time to deal with the quota problem.

>Overview the encampment issue [Different results according to your choices!]

This might get ugly real soon.
>>
Last update for the day, see you tomorrow!
>>
>>4877808
Wait, which Easterner vanished? Romayah? How do we know she is "unwilling to cooperate" if she has vanished, did she say so and then leave or do you mean she is being uncooperative by vanishing? Or do you mean another Easterner?

U-11 is time sensitive, in the previous thread they mention that the proposal shall be signed one way or another so we best leave our mark on it before they somehow push it through via one of their lackeys in our cabinet or something, plus our quotas are low. Though it is unfortunate that increasing our quota of elixir will almost certainly result in decreased relations with the natives, but we have to manage a balancing act.

Though the tribal issue could become violent if we don't act now, affecting both of native relations, our military strength, and our quota for the Union next month.

Anyways I vote...

You didn't trust your judgement for the time being, there was no shame in admitting so. Your secretary apologized for wasting your time before leaving. Truth be told, you did enjoy this idleness of yours. You only wished to have your son by your side, but the company of your dear wife will do.

As the sun was settling down, the whispers grew more and more, as if the floor was crawling with invisible tiny creatures, each one is teasing you with its ethereal voice. A-are you losing your sanity?

You didn't know what to say or where to go. Your office seemed like a good haven to your delirious mind. You locked the door behind you while reaching for your pistol. Terror was claiming your soul, you primed your pistol at your non-existent foe.

<<Wha? h?ve ?ou do?? to me? answer m....!>> It was at this particular moment when it dawned upon you; the words coming out of your mouth were bulky and unnatural, like a brick dipped in molasses and tar. Your tongue was twisted against your own volition.

Twisted by native words.

You gasped in horror. This can't be happening, are you hallucinating? You took a deep breathe before trying once more.

<<My n?me is Jonathan ????>> It was far from perfect, but you are now able to speak the complex language of the natives.

Goodwell's Goodwill

Speeches were not your usual forte, you are a man of action not words. However, it was necessary to address the increased presence of Gizzers throughout Arkuland. They seemed to pop out of nowhere, terrifying citizens and ruining businesses in the poorer district. You reassured everyone that you will deal with these vermins properly.

You didn't expect Sir Maxim Goodwill to emerge out of the crowd at the end of your speech. He asked for permission to speak at the podium, it was honestly a strange request, but you allowed it after some persuasion from his side.

Sir Maxim was one of the few humble rich people wearing plain clothes, you could easily mistake him for a common man in this attire. The philanthropist promised the good people of Arkuland to personally fund a relief program for those who are affected by the spider-rat infestation.

Once the conference was over, Sir Maxim wanted to speak with you privately. The two of you sought an empty room away from prying ears.

" A very noble goal, Sir Maxim." You started first " Arkuland needs generous men like you."

"Thank you, Governor. I could have been more helpful had you made me your economic advisor..." He twisted a bit in his chair arching a smile from ear to ear.

"Straight to the point, Are we?" You saw it coming. " Your....ring is still in my office."

"Our mutual friends thought subtlety would work well with you, I tried to convince them otherwise. Oh well, " his tone had a hint of regret " They hoped to amend your mistake b-"

"Amend?" you almost raised your voice " I put a good, capable man in charge for a good reason. I don't respond nicely to lawless orders and threats, Sir Maxim."

"Governor, You, me and our mutual friends...We all work for the same goal here. Please, lend me your ear."

"Speak."

"Our mutual friends wish to gain more foothold in several positions as a part of the Grand Plan . They have been infiltrating Arkuland since it was founded. There is a newly constructed encampment west of Arkuland surrounded by hellish swamps. It isn't fully operational yet..."

His eyes darted left and right for a brief second "Our mutual friends desire to gain the trust of a nearby tribe. The easterners along with their guards will be....neutralized. If the stars aligned correctly, ALL of the new staff will follow our way thinking. That way, we will kill two birds with one stone."

>>
>>4879331
I am once again tempted to say "screw it" and plunge our city into chaos in order to nip this problem in the bud before we contribute to a cause that will be a growing problem. However, they do seem to have noble aims, seemingly independence and the relief of the poor and helpless, but they are also undeniably violent, we know that for sure now. They not only are willing to assassinate officials but work with natives and assassinate guards and take over economic installations. They are also too opaque with their plans to be trusted or treated fully with good faith. That doesn't change the fact that the encampment of easterners are hardly innocent if they are an elixir extraction camp.

>[Strategy 3 or more] Relocate SOME of force protecting the encampment [ +1 Corruption , +1 Native Lore ,???]

We'll grow our native lore until we can interact with them fluently and then perhaps we can find an arrangement that is symbiotic or balanced or at least not overtly hostile. Or try to. Maybe we can learn the Strays plans without giving away all autonomy to them before they complete it and decide for ourselves whether their aims are worth it in the end. At the very least we share some of the same goals and interests but the way in which we achieve it is the problem, I don't want to try and commit suicide via rebellion or lack of material goods before we achieve pseudo-autarky.

+1 Corruption (2) [Light Corruption]
+1 Native Lore (2) [Buchsigvv]

You concluded your private chat with Sir Maxim on a high note. Once again, you had indirectly supported the Strays in their noble endeavors. The encampment was wiped out, with no survivors. The new staff had a different agenda, one not butchering natives. How are they going to keep this act up? This is beyond you.

Over the next few days, your dreams were nothing but what seemed to be memories...native memories trickling down at a steady rate. These snippets were teaching you more and more about the men, women and children who are kidnapped, tortured and ultimately slaughtered or sold as slaves. Even the mighty Governor could not stop the elixir and the slave trade.

For now.

Event: requirement met: The Grand plan

The month's end was drawing near, your business in the core tower interrupted by Sir Maxim who insisted on inviting you to his manse this afternoon for dinner.

Much like its owner, the mansion wasn't overly lavish. Everything had its purpose, no golden chandeliers, no statue-esque servants waiting at every corner. You admired his way of living.

The dinner was fantastic, Sir Maxim certainly was aware of your fondness for sea food. His wife, Qathrina. refused to allow any of the servants to prepare this meal. She was a Gorgeous southerner with long woven hair and quite the plump body. Sir Maxim is indeed a lucky man.

When everything was said and done, youu two had retread to his office were someone was waiting for you.

"Governor, allow me to introduce you the Leader of the Strays: Madame Lupin "

"A pleasure, Zir Jonathan." Before you, stood a woman in her late thirties donning a peculiar metal mask to obscure her true identity. You can tell she was born with a golden spoon in her mouth from the ways she speaks, the way she dressed. Her accent is quite eluding, however... The Northern Union has many kingdoms, from which honorable bloodline did she belong to?

You landed a soft kiss on her hand before taking a short bow. "The pleasure is all mine, Madame. Forgive me, but I find it quite hard to believe that a woman of your stature could lead such a-"

"A band of miscreants? a group of vagabonds and cutthroats? Do not let appearances deceive you, Zir Jonathan. Not until a few years ago. I was no better than a harlot offering comfort to despicable men after everything was taken from me."

"Governor," Maxim spoke on her behalf. "The Queen of Strays wishes for you to fully join our cause. We could start something anew in these virgin lands, something untouched by the tyranny of the great powers."

"As a token of appreciation, we will provide immediate aid to any of your current woes. As long as it is within Arkuland."

It was a massacre, no one could convince you otherwise...the Salt-hairs tribe was nearly wiped out in a matter of few hours. Those who survived were shipped off to a processing encampment, the maimed and the injured were executed on the spot. They called the battalion responsible for this massacre 'heroes' . Northerner or not, everyone was cheering for them.

Once the land had become vacant, the mining company was full operational, Nythriem deposits were aplenty below the native's salt encrusted feet...

The great powers ask you to increase the monthly quota, they expect you to magically process an untold amounts of ingots and elixirs. Can Arkuland keep up with such ridiculous demands? It has become all so tiresome...

The Easterners are getting rather pious in their holy month, pleasing or displeasing them should have a profound effect. The rich easterners should be more generous but they are stingy as ever. The Core tower was calmer than usual since all the easterner had fewer work hours for their religious practices. Your secretary, however, had chosen to resume her work as usual.

'Free time' was a luxury you rarely had these days. What shall you spend it on?

Yes, your wife should always come first. You had neglected her for too long especially after your recent ethereal bond with the wonderchild. " The Operahouse?" asked Margret, befuddled.

"I'll doubt there will be a Tuvoshka or a Tilloniisi but I dare say we will relish our time amongst the clouds of the high art."

"Is that so? " She cast an eye full of skepticism on you "I suppose we won't happen into a certain someone attending the same performance?"

"Margret, my dear..." You landed a soft kiss on her cheek "Long have I wronged you. I have been a woeful husband to the most wonderful woman I have met, This night is solely for you, and no one else."

Governor Ayyah had poured an unholy sum of money into the Operahouse and it sure shows; the lavish Eastern-Northern design is one of many motifs she had in mind for Arkuland, a city with a new identity.

Your unannounced arrival had caused quite a stir. You insisted to be treated like everyone, no special treatment. You and your wife were lucky to attend 'Vosca', a famous play about forbidden love, social taboos, tragedy and drama. The singers, despite being of little popularity, had done a superb job. The orchestra was on the other hand subpar.

All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience. You stayed true to your word by ignoring any and all who desired to claim this chance to speak with you.

Your bodies might be aging but your spirits were ever young. You spent the rest of the night with your wife, enjoying each other's company.

Caught

The killer dubbed as 'Pighead' who terrorized the upper class of Arkuland was finally arrested this weekend. It was a dubious she, an easterner who was blessed by the pale which allowed her to phase through solid walls as if they were nothing.

According to your secretary, It was uncommon for the pale to gift extraordinary arcane powers to the untrained and unworthy. The killer was a slave who legally freed herself back in the old world, and sought to start a new life here as a lowly servant. It was then when she was empowered by the pale.

Indubitably, She would face a true death, hanged and left to rot according to the laws of the wing. However, this is Arkuland. The Dual-Law will be in effect as well.

The Union was interested in studying her due to her dangerous ability, a rotting body will yield little research and so they asked you to ship her to the North where they will study her thoroughly.

Of course, there's always a third option.

The Strays.

Madame Lupin was intrigued by the easterner, a woman like her could be an excellent infiltrator. She should, no, she MUST join the cause. You will order her transfer to a more 'secure location' only for her carriage to be ambushed by loyal strays. Simple as.

Again and again, you stand at a crossroad which branches to no end. What shall you do?

We can't afford to lose much more rep with the Union, we are at -2 with them.

Lets also not be so crazy as to use our one favour with the strays to benefit them and lose our favour which could be used to gain a stat boost on its own anyways or to kill someone.

While I am very glad for the significant repairs done to our Unity and relationship with Margret, I believe you made a mistake. Our relationship should be at 8, not 10. When we lost 4 early in this thread, it went down to 5, we just gained 3 so it should be at 8 unless I'm having a brainfart and just forgetting something. Just trying to be honest here.

If we do choose to go for a non-Stray faction, I recommend the Union over the Wing, that way our rep with the Union goes to -1 and our rep with the Wing goes to -2, so it balances out. Plus we get that sweet Decree if we choose one of the superpowers over the Strays.

+1 Wing Decree
-1 Union (-3) [Awaiting Prosecution]
-1 Strays (0) [Friend of the strays]

Public executions have two solid purposes: to deliver justice in its rawest form and to remind everyone and all that their pitiful, insignificant lives are in the hands of the law. The Wing revels in its executions unlike a good portion of the Union who had abolished these barbaric acts long ago. The condemned should at least have the right to die with some form of dignity not to entertain the masses in their final breaths.

The pighead killer marched proudly to her death, she didn't cry or plea... none of that was drawn on her face. Most of the crowd was of eastern origin save for lustful youths who ogled at her bare body (She still wore a hefty silver collar around her neck). True death, this was her fate. Your recent acquaintances may not like it but this is eastern Justice.

The Great Si'aat

The Holy month was coming to end, it did bring some life to Arkuland with various decoration and easterners being more friendly and generous than usual. Some even took it a step further and freed some slaves after buying them. However, One thing was bothering you about their holy month.

This Great Si'aat is a ritual for 'The Caretaker of all'... in other words, yourself. You are supposed to endure the suffering of the poor for three whole days by staying an empty room with nothing but a single jar of water , three loaves of dry bread and a holy text of sorts.

The idea itself is quite maddening, you do not adhere to their religion and yet the easterners look up to you. Governor Ayyah did it, She even had the Si'aat room built in the heart of Arkuland. This form of mediation could be detrimental to your health , you are an old man afterall.

What should you do?

The Da'eea had indeed listened to plight, they have manged to shave off single day from this hellish ritual. This was the best they could do without bending too many rules.

Suffice to say, it was one of the most delirious experiences you had in your entire life. The air was stale, the temperature was unbearable, the gnawing hunger was ravaging your mind. The dry bread hardly did anything other than making you thirsty. The lukewarm water was the worst offender in your opinion.

Still, you had rare moments of clarity in your forced isolation. More natives thoughts and memories flowing through you, they speak of a tribe which settled right here in Arkuland ages ago. This unnamed tribe had done something unspeakable in the past, whatever it was, it costed them their lives.

You were a broken wreck by the time you were done with the eastern rituals. Margret alone wouldn't be able to nurture you back health, a team of doctors has been assembled to monitor your subpar welfare. Like it or not, you would be bed-ridden for at least a whole week.

All manner of beasts could be subdued. If the Wonderchild speaks truth, you will just have to find a bigger gun to take it down.

You recall little of what happened next in your nightmare, the stench of blood still lingers in your nostrils as you return to the world of the living, drenched in sweat and panting heavily.

As you were slowly recovering from your ordeal, Ms. Adeel had very troubling news for you: The great power are giving you one last chance to address the constant shortages of their precious shipments. If you continue to ignore proposition U-11, They will just have to step in to protect their interests.

You had this ominous feeling brewing in your gut as you returned back to the core tower, it was as if someone out there is going to get you. Nah, this can't be possible. Besides, you have got Gustav and the silver guard to protect you.

What is your next move?

>Overview a proposition [Specify whether it will be U-11, ADM, MIL or DIP]

Proposition U-11: Arkulandian resources' renewal act

This particular prop. is split into two parts, One for the Haash elixir and the other for Nythriem.

As the demands for these two precious goods increases, Arkuland wasn't able to keep up with them. We must find a proper method to eradicate this problem, otherwise, the great powers might intervene into our affairs.

Starting with the Nythriem, it should have been the easier of the two to refine since it won't shoot back or raid your supply lines, but this is far from the truth. Nythriem is hard to mine and harder to smelt into ingot or any desirable forms, combined with the factory's insatiable thirst for power, mass producing it has been always an unyielding challenge.

The outrageous power consumption has indeed put a strain on the Core tower but it can't be helped; all Nythriem factories had been purposely built close to the city to reduce further costs... factories built away from civilization will certainly draw the attention of the natives who could easily cut the power supply at any given time.

Also, There hasn't been enough research to confirm said postulation but Nythriem might be affecting the health of all workers involved as well as public health thanks to the endless pillars of smoke from the factories. In order to increase our production, we must choose one of the following ideas:

- More factories : A very straightforward solution, this should allow us to vastly increase our production. There are several drawbacks to said idea such as provoking the natives and increasing the strain on the Core tower. Such strategic locations must be protected by formidable forces all the time.

- Clockwork Miners/Workers : A very bold and ambitious idea that might just work if you are willing to invest heavily into it. If we could tinker the reason boxes to identify enemies and kill them then using a pickaxe should be something trivial. A clockwork miner will never grow tried, call sick or take a break. The only downsides of doing so are the workers who will be jobless after getting substituted by the automaton and the initial cost plus ongoing maintenance for the brass workers.

- Pearl-pigging the ingots : During the earlier days of processing Nythriem, there has been a lot of experiments regarding this precious metal. One of those prototype methods were called 'Pearl-pigging' which involves adding some mercury and copper to the supposedly pure Nythriem giving it a brief whitish-pink colour (hence the name) during the refining process, The final product will be weakened and less effective as a power source but pearl-pigging the ingots will drastically lower its cooling time saving precious time.

- Sub-Core Towers : Governor Ayyah originally wanted to implement them with newer factories but they have proven to be absurdly expensive. It will take a small army to protect them. Doing so will lighten the load on the main core tower which is always good.

Which one will you choose?

>Summon an advisor [Specify]
What is their take on this problem?

>Construct more factories [ +2 Quota (Nythriem) , +2 Union , -3 Natives, -1 Army strength, -1 Strategy, -1 Wealth of Arkuland ]
Will this be enough?
+Arkuland trait : Core overlord [ More pressure on the core tower might cause power shortages or worse later on...]

>Construct more factories WITH sub-core towers [ +2 Quota (Nythriem) , +2 Union, +1 Strategy , -3 Natives, -2 Army strength, -3 Wealth of Arkuland ]
Protecting them will be more important than the factory itself .
+Arkuland Trait: Stabilized Core [The Core Tower won't have to overwork for more power]

I'm tempted to do the core towers just because it is a long term solution that leaves us weak in the short term, but weakening our army while missing off the natives at the same time is a bad combination, especially because we chose to piss off the beast.

I'd still like to at the sub-core towers on their own sometime to prevent future Core issues.

This will put us in a state of extreme strain with our countrymen though, or at least those who live in our city, if there aren't riots against us, then there will be proxy riots between those who adore us and those who hate us, since there is no in-between.

Second part of the proposition revolves around the most popular elixir in the Eastern Wing bolstering one's arcane powers as well as rejuvenating the old and the frail without any hint of addiction. Hoarding it has been a recent trend among the elites. There has been some attempts to 'homebrew' native slaves in eastern lands but the results has been...disappointing. For some reason, the natives MUST perish in the new world first for the elixir to be potent.

There are several hurdles in regards to mass producing the elixir. First up, the raw resources are harder to acquire due to the increased ferocity of the natives who would rather die than to be kidnapped. There has been some selective breeding programs but they have been not as successful as kidnapping.

The other issue we are facing are the encampments themselves, they are siphoning resources and men as the raids grow bolder and bolder not to mention the deadly wildlife. Time has also been an issue , accelerated growth does take a long period of time.

The grinding process is pretty straightforward and can't be improved any further. You must look into the earlier steps of production. For that, you have the following to consider:

-More drastic mutilations: Current torturing methods keeps the body intact...more or less. A missing limb, A gouged eye and the like will exponentially accelerate the growth process...at the cost of a small loss in profits.

-Divert much of the slave trade to Haash processing: Arkuland relies on a steady supply of slaves for profit. If we are to avoid the Wing's ire.

-More aggressive breeding programs: It is simply really, the sows must either produce more infants for the slaughter or they will join their kinsmen.

-More aggressive campaigns: You don't care if whole tribes would perish in the process, you have arcane-filled bodies as soon as possible.

-Dilute the elixir : A short term solution, it will take them a while to notice the difference. Of course, a lot of bribes are due first.

"I am afraid...I won't be much... of help to you... governor." Your arcane advisor admitted. " I wish all of the pain... and suffering would stop. No one... deserves such fate."

" Your compassion is admirable, Ms. Kasoof, but we need to appease the Wing. Surely, you have something in mind."

"Governor... please, you must not mingle the power... of the arcane... with this... bloody business. Such consequences will anger... the great pale."

>"Very well, thank you for your time." [Choose another option from the previous prompt]

She speaks of a ritual that 'steals' arcane powers from the pale, you can use this to further amplify the captive's arcane powers. The only downside is the resources you are willing to invest for the ritual.

I'll keep my vote the same. I don't wanna stack too many big long term negative traits like the Beast one, plus we have Wonder-Blood, who knows if the Unpaled thing will directly affect us because of it.
