You are Blair d’Rusalka, student at the Garreg Mach Officer’s Academy and a member of the Black Eagles House. You were sent to the Academy by your Guardian, Count Rusalka, to undergo training and become a Knight in his service. In your first two months since coming to the Academy, you managed to win the Mock Battle for your house and participated in a bandit clearing mission, which resulted in you taking your first life. Things at the academy have certainly not been dull as you maneuver through the “colorful” personalities of some of your fellow students while attempting to hone your skills and become a full-fledged Pegasus Knight. Now, you currently find yourself tasked with helping to put down a religious revolt, escorting one of your fellow students, Ashe, in his attempt to parley with the enemy general. >>4883824As the Gaspard soldiers approach, you look towards Ashe. He points to your Torch and signals you to drop it by the tree you’re taking cover behind. He follows up with another hand gesture, a thumb across his throat. You recognize this one all too well, and the grim look on Ashe’s face signifies that you did not misinterpret him. He waves over to Petra to follow him, while you place the torch standing upright against your tree. Caspar and you then take cover behind some nearby underbrush.“What could that light be?” You hear a different man than before say out loud.“I don’t know but let’s find it and get out of here. This fog is giving me the creeps.” Says the woman you first heard. The soldiers look young, and you confirm your suspicion that they’re with the Gaspard Army. The lead one, upon spotting your lone discarded torch, walks up to the item and picks it up.“What the hell is this thing do-?”His words are cut off as an arrow flies by and firmly lodges itself in the throat of his female companion, sending her reeling to the ground.“What?!”You emerge from your hiding spot. You aren’t sure when you brandished your spear, but it’s in your hands and you’re charging straight for the leader of the pack. He turns around from his friend to see you running towards him but it’s too late. Your spear firmly collides through the young soldier’s chest, and all he can do is let out an impotent, guttural gurgle. You extract your spear and let the body fall to the side, terrified look still etched upon his face.>30xp gained! (95/100)“We’re under attack!” You hear one of the soldiers in the back yell, an archer from the looks of it. As he pulls out his bow, he peers down to find a sword suddenly sprouting through his chest. Petra’s work no doubt.Caspar is engaged with a sword wielder who managed to get a hold on his bearings. His friend was unfortunately not so lucky, head cleaved down the middle by Caspar’s axe. The enemy Myrmidon is able to dodge and parry Caspar’s swings, and even manages to nick him once with his blade. He dances around Caspar for a few seconds more before your spear finds its way through his torso. The man screams in agony, directly in your face, before his head is lopped off by Caspar’s axe.>10xp gained. >>4883826The last Gaspard fighter left is facing Petra and breathing heavily, already cut up badly from her sword. He suddenly drops his Axe and gets on his knees, pleading for mercy.“I yield! Please don’t kill me! I’ll tell you whatever you want!” The man cries. As you look at him closer, he doesn’t strike you as a part of Gaspard’s traditional army. His “uniform” if you could call it that, is ragged, and patched through with holes. He resembles something closer to a conscript or a militiaman than an actual trained soldier. Ashe walks up to the man.“It’s okay, we won’t hurt you. Tell me, how many more soldiers ahead are there? Our group is seeking to parley with Lonato and end this before any more blood is shed.”The fighter is trying desperately to catch his breath and looks lost in thought. For a second you wonder if he can even count before he finally speaks. “T-twelve. There are two more parties like us patrolling the forest. Both further up ahead. T-the rest are fighting t-the church. We were supposed to make sure no one came through here. This place is pretty secluded, and with the fog it would be hard for the enemy to find or maneuver through. I thought we’d be safe on guard here…b-but you knew…” The man’s voice trails off as he studies Ashe closer.“Tell me, do you know what the cause of all this is?” Asks Ashe. The man shakes his head. “I-I don’t know. Lonato told us that the Church of Seiros had been…corrupted. Taken over by the Infidel, Rhea. He riled up all the townspeople to attack the local clergy…oh Goddess what’s happening…I just want to go home…”“Twelve more men ahead could become trouble.” Chimes in Petra.>“Agreed, and we may still need to face off against Lonato and Gaspard’s actual soldiers.”Ashe addresses the man, who is currently still on his knees, staring at the corpses of his deceased comrades. “You’re free to go. Get up and get on out of here.”“Ashe you can’t be serious!” Interjects Caspar. “He might alert the others that we’re here!”“I can’t just kill an unarmed villager that was dragged into this!” Retorts Ashe“Ashe?” Asks the man, staring at Ashe with a renewed glance, before sputtering “M-milord, please! I won’t tell the others, I swear!” “Blair, what thinking does your head do?” Asks Petra. Your mind thinks back to the bandit girl you killed back at Zanado. How the hell do you keep finding yourself in these situations…>A) Kill him. We can’t take the risk of him alerting the other patrols ahead.>B) Release him, I agree with Ashe. He clearly can’t fight us.>C) (Tactics Rank: D): Perhaps we can use him to lure the other patrols away. It’s risky, but we may be able to get through the forest without any more fighting.>D) Write-in
>>4883829>>D) Write-inI dont trust someone this flighty not to tell of us but we could just knock him out or tie him up, no need for WAR CRIMES just yet.

>>4883888+1 to this. Tie him up and come back for him after the battle. He's a prisoner of war who legitimately surrendered. Killing him would be immoral.
>>4883829>D) write inTie him up or knock him out like the other anon said
>>4883829>C) (Tactics Rank: D): Perhaps we can use him to lure the other patrols away. It’s risky, but we may be able to get through the forest without any more fighting.A chance to avoid bloodshed and not get bogged down by fighting? It's risky, but I'm willing to take it.
>>4883829>>C) (Tactics Rank: D): Perhaps we can use him to lure the other patrols away. It’s risky, but we may be able to get through the forest without any more fighting.Knocking people out safely is basically impossible. And tying him up while leaving him conscious and able to shout is basically the same as option C.
>>4884009Just gag him.
>>4883829>C) (Tactics Rank: D): Perhaps we can use him to lure the other patrols away. It’s risky, but we may be able to get through the forest without any more fighting. This or knock him out and gag him
Considering our still rather limited Tactics rank I fear that option may backfire, anons.
>>4883829>>A) Kill him. We can’t take the risk of him alerting the other patrols ahead.
>>4883829>C) (Tactics Rank: D): Perhaps we can use him to lure the other patrols away. It’s risky, but we may be able to get through the forest without any more fighting.Times running out, and either fighting 12 men or dodging them through this mist aren't ideal, especially since dodging them means we'll need to put thr touch out and thus waste more time picking our way through the fog. Plus we have no idea where the hell the magic fog man is - with out mainly physical party running into a mage would be bad news. If it works we basically get a straight shot to Lonato's camp unimpeded. If it doesn't its not worse than picking option B
>>4883829>>4883888>D) Knock him outI think knocking him out is best, and are you guys really choosing the rank D plan?also nice to see this continue, let's make Blair the bestest genericus in all of Fodland

>>4883829>>4883829>C) (Tactics Rank: D): Perhaps we can use him to lure the other patrols away. It’s risky, but we may be able to get through the forest without any more fighting.Every other option here means we've got to avoid 12 men in the fog while trying to beat the main army to Lonato (who absolutely won't surrender peacefully if he has an entire army breathing down his neck). If this pays off it will pay off big time.Plus everyone going on about tactics D - are you seriously saying you're gonna pass on every tactics choice until we reach, what, rank B/C? That's like two missions away. If C is enough to lead a battalion then D isn't complete garbage.
>>4884313Its not only the rank, to me it also sounds like kind of a harebrained idea, which makes me think its another "use a skill youve barely developed" trap.
>>4883829>C) (Tactics Rank: D): Perhaps we can use him to lure the other patrols away. It’s risky, but we may be able to get through the forest without any more fighting.>D) Write-in: Offer to use a Vulnerary to heal the man's injuries, tell him we need his help to get past the patrols and speak with Lonato to end this with as little bloodshed as possibleHe recognized Ashe as the (adopted) son of Lonato, calling him "Milord" after we mentioned his name. If we actually tell him the reason we need him to distract the patrols (so that Ashe can speak with Lonato and try to get him to stand down and reduce the amount of casualties), I feel he'll have less reason to object or betray us. We use a Vulnerary to heal him as a gesture of goodwill to boost this further.I know we just murdered his squad in cold blood a second ago, and therefore our words might ring hollow, but if Ashe backs us up here with his clout of being Lonatos (adopted) son we might just get through to him. Worst case scenario is he betrays us and we'll be forced to 4v13, best case scenario is we fast track it to Lonato unopposed. It's honestly a though choice, but I believe it would be best to at least take this opportunity to kill as few Gaspard soldiers as possible, for Ashe's sake.
>>4883829>C) (Tactics Rank: D): Perhaps we can use him to lure the other patrols away. >>4885278Whoops forgot my name. For clarification; Tactics Rank: D means the option is available to you because our Authority/Tactics is sitting at D. It's supposed to serve as an indicator that the reason you're even seeing the option is because you leveled that skill up.
>>4883829You stare down at the quivering man before you. Last time you were in this situation, you were forced to push your spear through a girl’s heart. Maybe this time, you can do things differently. You kneel in front of the man, take out one of your Vulnerary’s, un-pop the cork, and pour it over the wounds that Petra had left on him.>Used 1x Vulnerary.“Blair?! What are you doing?” stammers Caspar.>“What is your name?” You ask.“L-Loke.>“Loke. You don’t want to see any more of your friends die, do you?” You turn your head to the girl with the arrow through her throat. Already a sizeable pool of blood has spread around her. “We don’t want to see that either. But we’ll need your help for that.” You grab the man’s hands and lift him to his feet.”“W-what do you mean?” Loke asks, worry evident in his voice.>“You said there are two more patrols near, right? Head west of here and shout that you’ve found the enemy and you require aid. If you did that, they’d come running over, no?”“T-they should…but what happens when they-?”>“Tell them you were ambushed and managed to escape. We came looking to finish you off but got lost in the fog and were split up, then you heard us heading south. If your friends are supposed to guard this forest, chances are they’ll pursue towards the south, away from where we are headed, no?”The man looks as if he wishes to protest, attempting to stammer some rebuttal, but you cut him off.>“If it doesn’t work, Loke, or you try and tell them otherwise, we’ll be forced to defend ourselves. And I think you can vouch that we’re more than capable of doing that, even when outnumbered. You can still make sure people don’t die today. The choice is yours.”Loke looks even more pale than he was when he was still covered in wounds. Eventually though, he relents and nods his head. “I-I’ll do it.”>“Thank you, Loke.”Caspar stares at you, looking somewhat impressed. “Nice job…I just hope it works.”“You go away with words!” Cheers Petra“Thank you, Blair. I don’t know how I can ever repay you for all you’ve done.” Says Ashe.>You gained a C-Support with Ashe!
>>4885474Loke takes his leave, running off to the west, stopping only to spare a glance at his fallen comrades. The rest of you wait around, cleaning your weapons and patching up, when you hear a voice from far away.”“Help! I need help! Please! Come quick! It’s the enemy!”“That was Loke, let’s go.” Says Ashe. You and the group head towards the east, away from the direction Loke ran. You can hear the sounds of armor clanking and shouts from somewhat ahead. If your deduction is correct, it looks like the plan work, and both enemy patrols are heading to where Loke had ran off. You take care to move slower, trying not to rush into them. Eventually though, the sounds fade away, and all that is left are the sounds of birds, wind, and battle from far off.“The exit should be just up ahead.” Whispers Ashe.“Look! The fog is fading!” Says Petra.Petra is right. You notice the fog that was previously blanketing the woods is vanishing at a remarkably fast rate. It looks as though the cause was indeed magic, and the culprit or culprits behind it had the misfortune of running into the Knights of Seiros.“That’s fortunate, now we should have no issue finding where Lonato is amid the enemy’s forces.” Says Ashe. You slow down as you reach the exit, and take cover at the forest’s edge, peering outward into the enemy encampment. Ahead of you, you see Gaspard soldiers running back and forth, in front of a raised platform. On said platform is an older looking man, with white hair and radiant looking silver armor. The way he barks orders as scouts come up to him make it clear that this must be Lonato.“Our Mage Commander has been slain?! Hold your ground!” Lonato shouts. “We have the Goddess on our side, and knowledge of the terrain! We can stop them here!”“Lonato…” You hear Ashe mutter next to you.>“It sounds like the Gaspard army is getting pushed back. We have to move now.”“Yes but…how?” Asks Caspar.Good question. You’re able to make out six soldiers ahead who seem to be serving as Lonato’s personal guard. And unlike those conscripts you slew earlier, these seem to be full-fledged soldiers in a professional standing army.>A) Have Ashe approach forward and call out to Lonato. It’s what we came for after all, but if negotiations fail, we’ve got a fight on our hands.>B) Remain in the forest for now and see what happens. This is extreme metaknowledge but if Ashe pulls this off, how do we make sure he stays far away from """""""Tomas""""""" and """"""Monica"""""? Lonato was pretty much a dubstepper plot right
>>4887771Dubstepper plot to distract everyone from them trying to rob the tomb yeah. If Lonato isn't going be excecuted anyway for lynching the priests the dubsteppers can teleport so we probably can't do much to avoid his death if they really want him gone. The more extreme meta knowledge is are we going to try to interfere with Jeralt's death or not.
>>4887948I don't see how we possibly could, short of tailing Monica all the time to see if she ever slips up, which would be hard to justify.
>>4887971It's plain to everyone with eyes that Monica is sus even some of the NPCs mention it. No one says anything because she sticks to Edelgard like a burr and Edel and Hubert don't protest, I can see Blair thinking it's weird enough to do something. We could also '''''happen'''' to stick very close to Jeralt after the fight so we can parry any assassins daggers and pray that the divine pulse is enough to stop us getting shanked maybe.
Man, I feel like when we're done with this mission Ashe will come a running straight to join the Black Eagles, we fucking left a hell of an impression on that boy.>>4887771In character, we have no reason to suspect Tomas of anything. Monica however just fucking shows up in the catacombs when Flayn is captured after being missing for a whole year, and no one fucking bats an eye. While we have in character reason to think something is up with her, we have no concrete evidence against her.
>>4888052>Monica however just fucking shows up in the catacombs when Flayn is captured after being missing for a whole year, and no one fucking bats an eyeThat's because several students had gone missing before, Flayn's kidnapping was just the straw that broke the camel's back and got the church to invest fully into the investigation.

>>4885476The soldiers gathered ahead don’t exactly look like they’re ready to give you a warm welcome. You knew the risks when you accepted this mission though, and now’s not the time to back out.>“We’re behind you Ashe. If negotiations go south, we’ll have your back.” You tell him.Ashe nods. “I’m ready.” The four of you then move out of the forest, and towards the platform that Lonato is currently commanding from. You aren’t noticed immediately at first. It’s clear that Lonato and his troops were not expecting to meet any resistance from the direction of the forest. But eventually, one of the soldiers spots you, and lets out a cry.“It’s the enemy! Defend the Lord!”“Wait! We don’t mean you any harm!” Ashe yells. As Lonato’s guard begins mobilizing, the elderly knight turns his gaze away from the battlefield to glance towards your direction. Upon seeing Ashe, his mouth drops in surprise.“Ashe? What are you doing here?! Did that wretch Rhea think to send my own boy to collect my head?” He motions towards his guards, waving them down. “Hold your attack!”“Lonato, please listen! I’m not here to fight! I came to find out why this is happening?” Ashe says, moving closer to his former guardian. As the enemy general adjusts his horse to face in Ashe’s direction, his soldiers by his side inch closer. It’s clear they don’t intend to let Ashe just waltz by.“This is happening because of that false prophetess. For years I had to live with the knowledge that she ordered the unlawful execution of my only son. The one thing in this world I cherished! I struggled in utter anguish while that deceiver masqueraded as the Goddess’ envoy, enjoying all of Fodlan under her thumb. No longer! I am a Knight, and I’d rather die fighting for what I believe in than continue to standby while that harlot pretends to speak for the Goddess!”Ashe, at a loss for words, stammers out. “But the townsfolk! The people of Gaspard! So many lives that you were supposed to protect, they’re all dead!”Lonato shakes his head. “I forced no one into this boy. I simply told them the truth, and afterwards they were all willing to throw down their lives against that woman, even with the odds stacked against them. Don’t sully their honor, they are martyrs, one and all.”From afar, you can hear the sounds of battle intensifying and drawing closer. You can’t make out who’s winning, but you’re quite certain Catherine and the Knights should be making quick work of the enemy.
>>4890919“Now then Ashe, if you are not here to fight, I ask that you stand down. I must destroy these evil-doers by any means necessary.”The boy takes a step further forward, clearly lost in his emotions. Lonato’s knights also inch closer.“Please surrender! Whatever your reason for doing this, we can still talk it out!”“Enough!” Lonato screams. “Did you not hear me, Ashe? I am a knight, and knights stay true to their convictions. Did you not you head off to that den of sin known as Garreg Mach because you wished to become a knight?”“Y-yes but-”“Then consider this your first lesson!” The elderly Paladin brandishes his spear in Ashe’s direction. “You can run back through that forest all the way to your little school, or you can stand here and fight. Tell me Ashe, what would a knight do?”There are a few tense seconds that pass. Despite the cool temperature in Gaspard, you’re absolutely drenched with sweat as you stare down the seven opponents in front of you. You think back to all the opponents you have faced since coming to the academy so far, and you realize this is the first time you’ve felt that your life is in genuine danger. After what feels like an eternity, Ashe wordlessly walks back to your group, before unstrapping his bow, taking an arrow from the quiver, and taking a fighting stance.“Hah.” Lonato lets out a soft chuckle. “Now that’s the Ashe I remember. Men! To Arms!”>A) Stand your ground and engage the Armored Knight and Fighter heading your way.>B) Back up Ashe against the Fighter and Soldier heading his way.>C) Try and maneuver through their front line. Lonato by himself probs outspeeds (except for maybe Petra) and outbulks us. Is Caspar the only one with enough defense to survive two hits from him?
>>4890922>A) Stand your ground and engage the Armored Knight and Fighter heading your way.Are we able to get to the treeline from here?
>>4890922Hmm, the main fighting is getting closer. Even if his words regarding the will of the people ring true, perhaps finishing the main man could demoralize out foes enough to cause a route?>C) Try and maneuver through their front line. If you can kill Lonato, the battle should end.
>>4890922>>D) This is bad, we’re outnumbered. We need to retreat.Yeah if we stand our ground we're gonna get overwhelmed real fast, time to beeline to the treeline behind us for some extra dodge and to seperate the group.Going against an armored knight is a bad idea considering we don't have access to magic, Lonato will turn Blair into a bloody smear in 5 seconds flat if we gun for him personally and Ashe being ranged means we need to get him into a good position for him to do chip damage.Caspar and Blair's main roles are to soften up the mooks enough for Ashe to snipe them down or for Petra's personal to trigger.
>>4890922>>D) This is bad, we’re outnumbered. We need to retreat.
>>4890922>B) Back up Ashe against the Fighter and Soldier heading his way.Let's stand our ground until the others can give us a hand. Killing Lonato likely won't make the other troops stop fighting. Let's rout the enemy!
>>4890922As much as I'd think that retreating is the best option here, Ashe is sure as shit not going to back down after getting fucking rustled by Lonato like that. Yes, we came here to see if we could end this diplomatically, but Ashe has already shown that he has the resolve to kill Lonato. Any attempts to retreat here would be refused outright by Ashe, so we have to either fight or knock him out and carry him away, and I ain't so keen on throwing that Support we gained with him away. He's also technically the Commanding Officer, so we kinda do need to stand and fight for now. Maybe he has a plan?>A) Stand your ground and engage the Armored Knight and Fighter heading your way.One round of combat. I'm giving it that, and if we start showing signs of getting our asses beat we're pulling out whether Ashe likes it or not. This is the gameplan. Us and Caspar together should have the raw bulk to handle the Armored Knight + the Fighter between us. Armored Knight is tanky as hell but slow as fuck and if we can take out his supporting Fighter, he's open for combo attacks from the both of us. We sic Caspar on him first, as he has the raw damage output to get through the armor, while we dance with the Fighter. Hopefully Caspar won't do anything too stupid while we're busy. Meanwhile Petra and Ashe handles the Eastern Flank with it's lightly armored units, they shouldn't have too much difficulty with that. The problem is Lonato. We have to work under the assumption he One-Shots at least Ashe and Petra, and if he actually engages right away we're fucked six ways from Sunday. The plan then becomes scrambled regroup and pulling out towards Catherine in force, though it might be too late by then.If he doesn't engage, and we manage to clean up the first row then maybe we can take him? We have to be extremely careful with any attempts though, he's a tough nut to crack for a small group of Students.
>>4890922>B) Back up Ashe against the Fighter and Soldier heading his way.Hoo boy, time for some slaughter, I think we should stay close together and hold on in hopes of the rest coming to bring us some backup.
>>4890922>>B) Back up Ashe against the Fighter and Soldier heading his way.
>>4890922>>C) Try and maneuver through their front line. If you can kill Lonato, the battle should end.
I wholeheartedly implore anyone who's voted for or thinking about voting for Option C reconsider their choice immediately. We can not fucking Solo Lonato under any circumstance, much less when he actually has backup and we'll be completely surrounded by his Generals. It is 100% going to lead to a BAD END where our whole Squad gets wiped. Literally any other Option is preferable to Option C.
>>D) This is bad, we’re outnumbered. We need to retreat. No cowardice to moving to the treeline. We'd be foolish not to take the tactical advantage now that negotiations have broken down.

D wins. Writing now.
>>4892173Ashe is raring to go at his adopted father, however it does not take a master tactician to realize that the odds are stacked against your group heavily. >“Ashe! We need to fall back! There’s too many of them!”“But he’s right in front of us! I need to see this through, even if it costs me my life!” He retorts back.Any room for debate or discussion is over as Lonato’s soldiers rush you. Leading the pack is a Fighter that slams his axe in a downward strike that you are only able to narrowly block with your spear, though your arms scream in protest (-5 HP, 24/29). You jump back from your opponent and thrust your spear outward. You catch the man in his cheek and deliver a grievous wound, though before you can follow up, with a kill stroke, he pulls away, and you only manage to clip his left shoulder. >10xp gained (15/100)As the enemy fighter reels back, clutching his wounds, an Armored Knight is slowly lumbering towards you, shield and spear ready to skewer you. Fortunately, this man isn’t as mobile in his armor, and you’re able to maneuver towards supporting Ashe. Caspar and Petra are busy fending off a Fighter and Soldier that were gunning for the boy, but now another Soldier and Myrmidon are closing in on him.Ashe is able to fire off an arrow that slows the Soldier down, but the Myrmidon is quick, and he slashes him across his chest, throwing him to the ground. Before he can deliver a finishing blow, the Myrmidon finds himself gored upon your spear. The Myrmidon screams in agony as the spear punches through his chest. Using the last of his strength, he frantically tries to swipe his sword down upon your arm. The blade connects on your right arm and gives you a nasty cut, (-4 HP, 20/29) but it’s clear this man is on his last legs. You grit your teeth and twist your spear, before pulling out and leaving him on the ground in a heap to die.>30xp gained! (45/100)
>>4892541>You extend your hand out to Ashe. “We need to head back towards the tree-line! The Professor and everyone else will be here soon to help.”Ashe moves to take your hand, but suddenly cries out. “Blair! Look out!”You quickly turn around and put your spear up expecting to find an enemy, only to spot a Javelin sailing towards you, quicker than you can react. Your armor fortunately stops the spear form impaling you, but you take the blow directly on the chest. The wind is knocked out of you, and you’re sent flying back to land hard on the ground with a thud. (-9 HP, 11/29)“Ashe! Did that expensive school of yours only teach you how to cower behind a woman!?’ You hear Lonato yell. As you struggle to get to your knees, you see the Paladin getting ready to move on Ashe. At his side is a soldier, limping along after being shot earlier by Ashe. To your left, Petra and Caspar have finished off their respective enemies. They are now engaged with the lumbering Armor Knight from before, who is keeping both of them at bay. Your comrades look like they’ve taken some damage, but they aren’t in danger of falling anytime soon. Beyond them, you can see the Fighter who you struck earlier, attempting to shakily pour his Vulnerary out on his wounds. And from even further ahead, you can hear the signs of the main battle drawing closer and closer to your location. Ashe seems to have dropped any pretense of commanding your unit further this fight, and it seems it’s up to you to decide what your next maneuver is.>A) Ashe is outnumbered and against a superior foe, back him up.>B) Help Caspar and Petra take out that Armor Knight.>C) Break around and try and kill the fighter before he is finished healing.>D) Try and take command and get everyone to pull back>E) Write-inALSOUse a Vulnerary to restore 10 HP?>Yes>No
>>4892542>A) Ashe is outnumbered and against a superior foe, back him up.>YesThat was a rough damn turn!
>>4892542We're lucky Blair is a tough cookie, this could have gone way worse. That said, we're still facing some serious odds.>yes to vulneraryNow it's not the time to cheap out.>A) Ashe is outnumbered and against a superior foe, back him up.I would have suggested a defensive approach before, retreating slowly and picking off the attackers, but now that's no longer an option: the numbers have evened out, but Lonato is already upon us.
>>4892542>A) Ashe is outnumbered and against a superior foe, back him up.>Yes
>>4892542>A) Ashe is outnumbered and against a superior foe, back him up.>YesWe should hide in the woods next to that soldier before attacking. Let's hope Lonato won't be too rough on us! I'd have liked to take care of the fighter, but that'd leave both us and Ashe open and vulnerable to Lonato and the soldier.
>>4892542>A) Ashe is outnumbered and against a superior foe, back him up.>YesHe's also wounded. With both Caspar and Petra on the armor knight hopefully they can whittle his HP down enough for Petra's personal to trigger. But we gotta drag Ashe to the treeline both for extra dodge and to make sure that fighter doesn't get an ideas.
>>4892542>>A) Ashe is outnumbered and against a superior foe, back him up.>Yes
>>4892542>A) Ashe is outnumbered and against a superior foe, back him up.>YesWe must ensure the future of our bloodline
>>4892542Shit. Well, we're stuck in now. >A>Yes
>>4892542Welp, as I said Ashe wasn't gonna back down. Chosing to stand and fight would've probabaly resulted in a better outcome for us. But hey, we're not dead at least.>A) Ashe is outnumbered and against a superior foe, back him up.>Use a Vulnerary to restore 10 HP? YIn for a penny, in for a pound as they say. Petra and Caspar are doing good on their own, we have to stop Ashe from dying while they finish off their opponents, and then maybe ganging up on Lonato would be enough to finish him. Catherine is breaking the Gaspard army next turn, so we can expect reinforcements after that. We just have to hold on.
>>4892542There’s not much more you can do to help Caspar and Petra against their foe, and Ashe needs your help badly. You uncork one of the vulneraries attached to your belt and pour it over the cut you received on your arm. It stings like hell, and you don’t have the time to administer healing to the blow you took to your chest, but it’s better than nothing. (+10 HP, 22/29)LonatoClass: Level 8 PaladinHP: 35, STR: 15, MAG: 8, DEX: 13, SPD: 7, LCK: 10, DEF: 14, RES: 10, CHRM: 12Equipped: Iron Lance (+6 Damage), Javelin (+2 Damage, 1-2 Range)SKILL: Canto“Here I come, Ashe! Brace yourself!” Lonato yells, galloping straight towards Ashe. He rolls out of the way of Lonato’s spear at the last second and manages to avoid finding himself on the end of it. The remaining Soldier sets his sights on you, running full speed with his spear outstretched in your direction. He is still hampered by the arrow he took from Ashe earlier, and it seems almost a trivial thing to sidestep his attack. As the man’s lunge carries him forward, you find yourself behind the soldier. You unleash a brutal kick to the back of the leg that Ashe had hit, sending the man painfully on his knees. Without a second thought, you push your spear through the back of his neck, killing him. >30xp gained! (75/100)
>>4893411Extracting your spear, you quickly look around for signs of Lonato, only to find another javelin sailing towards you. This time though, you’re able to avoid it hitting you. As he readies another javelin, an arrow finds its way into his right arm, followed by another one bouncing off against his chest plate. They slow him down but are clearly ineffective against his armor. (-4 HP, 31/35)Lonato launches the javelin that was intended for you towards Ashe instead, and the boy takes the blow head on, knocking him back. Turning his attention back towards you, the Paladin pulls out his lance and gallops your way.The mountain of horse, man, and armor in front of you arrives much quicker than you expected. In a desperate attempt, you thrust your spear out attempting to unseat him. Putting all of your strength and rage behind it, you strike true and hit him square in the breastplate. (-7HP, 24/35 HP). You manage to throw off his blow, but the horse still collides with you. The Goddess smiles on you and you fortunately are not trampled to death, but your insides feel like they’ve been liquefied from the amount of weight behind the impact. (-13 HP, 9/29 HP)As you shakily get to your feet, Lonato is already turning his horse and getting ready to attempt skewering you again. As he’s galloping towards you, lance outstretched, an arrow strikes his horse square in the eye! The beast topples and you manage to narrowly avoid another collision. Lonato curses as he is caught up in the beast’s thrashing, hitting the ground hard. (-9 HP, 15/35 HP)The Paladin is trapped underneath his horse and is struggling to free himself. As you gather your surroundings, you see Caspar and Petra still fighting against the Armor Knight, who now sports a rather large dent in his chest. The Fighter from earlier has finished healing and is now running to assist him. >A) Finish off Lonato now while he’s trapped under there.>B) Leave him to Ashe, go and aid Caspar and Petra.>C) Now’s our chance to run while Lonato’s recovering. Yell for retreat.>D) Write-in

>>4893417You run up to Lonato while he’s incapacitated and put your spear against his throat.>“Call your men off now! Or your life ends here!”Lonato barks a harsh laugh. “Hah! You’re tougher than you look girl, but not too bright. Do you really think I expected to live through this? Do your worst and get it over with.”“Lonato!” Ashe limps into sight. He’s clutching his chest from where he previously was struck, but the boy is still standing on two feet. “Do you really intend to die this way?”“Ashe…” Lonato manages to turn towards Ashe’s direction. The elderly paladin is unable to move his dead horse off him and at this point, seems content to lay there.“Lord Lonato!” You turn to see the two guards that Caspar and Petra were fighting earlier run towards their downed lord, weapons in hand.“Stay back!” Lonato yells. “No more fighting…Ashe…come closer.”Ashe limps towards his adopted father and kneels by his side, throwing his bow away.“That was…quite the shot. I’m proud of you, Ashe. You’ll make a fine knight, someday.”“Lonato! Please!” Ashe fumbles into his pockets for a vulnerary. “There’s still time to save you! Blair! Caspar! Help me get this thing off him!”“Don’t be foolish, boy. Even were I to survive here, my fate is already sealed. Ashe…you’ve always been like a son to me. Please fulfill this selfish old man’s final wish.”“W-what do you mean?”“I don’t want to be killed by that contemptible whore-spawn Cassandra. Nor do I wish to stand a false trial in front of that demagogue Rhea. Ashe, I ask you to kill me here now instead.”You feel your heart skip a beat. The heated battle you were embroiled in a moment ago has ceased completely, and all you can hear now is the tell-tale signs of the Knights of Seiros inching closer to your location.“W-what are you saying?! I can’t do that! Lonato, please!”“To be killed in battle by my son…to be spared from the indignity of facing the false church’s judgment. Nothing would make me happier. End my life, and please spare the soldiers of mine that remain.”You suddenly hear the shouts of men screaming in victory behind you. You’re sure of it now, The Knights have routed the Gaspard Army and will be here momentarily. You’re quite certain that the meaning of those screams isn’t lost on Ashe either, but you currently aren’t keen on rushing the boy to commit to the deed he’s been asked to. “Hurry!” Lonato rasps.Ashe remains tense for a few more moments, before drawing a dagger that was attached to his belt. “Thank you…for everything,”“Give my regards…to your brother and sister…”“I will.”For one who is already no stranger to killing, you find yourself surprised when your eyes instinctively close shut as Ashe plunges his dagger into his adopted father’s throat.
>>4894411The battle is over, and the Gaspard Army has been routed. The remaining soldiers that were at Lonato’s side throw down their arms and surrender. Ashe is sitting silently by his father’s side, so you take it upon yourself to tell the enemy soldiers that remain to run into the forest and not to look back. Better they are not here when the Knights arrive, you tell yourself. No sooner than when they leave, do the Professor and Catherine spot you, along with a retinue of Black Eagles and Knights of Seiros.“Are you four alright?!” Asks Byleth. “Where’s Lon-…” She trails off upon spotting Ashe sitting by the body of the enemy commander. “Oh…I see. What happened here?”>“Negotiations fell through. We were forced to fight the enemy commander and slay him.”“You four took down Lonato and his guard?” Asks Catherine, somewhat incredulously. You notice that she’s holding Thunderbrand, and it’s completely covered in blood. You nod and find it best not to get into the details of Lonato’s death, at least for Ashe’s sake.Catherine sighs, staring at the scene in front of her. “I wish things could have gone differently, but in any case, excellent work you four. This was no small feat.”The two of them walk towards Ashe, but the boy is in no mood to talk. He ignores their prodding, continuing to stare at the corpse in front of him.You plant your spear against the ground and lean against it, suddenly feeling just how tired you are now that the adrenaline has run its course. Its all you can do to hold yourself up right now.>A) Seek medical attention, you have never been more wounded in your life.>B) Stay and wait for Ashe.>C) Check in on Caspar and Petra.>D) Check in with one of the Black Eagles and see how the battle went. >>4894413Wew, that's one way to end it. Poor guy.As much as I want to talk with Caspar and Petra, if nothing else to check how they handled the armor knight, Ashe needs a friendly shoulder.
>>4894413Oh, I forgot: I know this is a bit callous, but did we get XP from our round of combat with Lonato?
>>4894594Huh, Ashe probably got one whole level since he got the last hit on a promoted unitSucks that it had to be Lonato but hey
>>4894600We gave it our best shot, in the end Lonato prefered to go out this way rather than fall on Catherine's blade. All that's left is to give Ashe a shoulder to lean on if he needs it.
>B) Stay and wait for AsheI cannot believe we somehow made this more traumatic for him. Poor fucking guy, let's at least see if Blair can help.
Blair apparently has a thing for archers as her friends, between Bernadetta and Ashe. And yet she has no contact with the Golden Deer so far!
>>4891909Oh shit you playing Strange Journey Redux? Good choice man, unless... what route you doing? Don't worry, there is only 1 wrong answer.
>>4894413>B) Stay and wait for Ashe.>>4894921I do wonder how we would mesh with Claude, does he pity us? Do we think he's a prick? And why does looks so good in yellow?

>>4894413>B) Stay and wait for Ashe.See if we can't signal for a healer though, we've both been pretty roughed up.
>>4894413Caspar and Petra approach you, both look pretty beat up themselves, each of them sporting fresh cuts and bruises.“Great work out there, Blair. I can’t believe you‘re still standing! That horse rammed right into you! You’re really something else, huh?”>“I’m glad you…enjoyed the show…” You rasp out.“Blair, you do not look beautiful.” Says Petra, a hint of concern in her voice. “Shall we accompany you to the medical tent?”>“I’ll go there soon…I want to just…check up on Ashe first is all.”“Okay, but don’t take too long.” Says Caspar worriedly. “By the way, we heard what you told Catherine. Don’t worry, we won’t share the details either.”>“Thanks Caspar…I’ll see you at dinner.” You say.Caspar and Petra give you an odd look before limping off in another direction. The macabre task of unpacking the battlefield begins. Soldiers from both the Knights of Seiros and the Black Eagles begin the task of carting off the bodies of the fallen. Ashe remains at the side of his former lord until eventually, he is also carted off by the knights. The boy gets up to walk away when he spots you.“Oh…Blair. You’re still here?”>“You did the right thing, Ashe.”“Did I? Would you have done the same if you had to kill the Count?”In the silence that follows, you find that your heavy breathing has not slowed down. It’s not like you haven’t thought about Ashe’s question before. Its actually come up a surprising number of times actually ever since hearing of the boy’s plight. >“Were the roles reversed…If the count was…endangering innocent lives in a war that was meaningless…Yes. I would do the same as you.” “Even though he was the man that took you in? Provided for you? Saved you from poverty and ensured you and your siblings lived a life better than you had any right to?” Ashe asks, his voice rising as he speaks. You grip your spear, still planted in the ground and holding you up. You’re woozy, you aren’t sure if you truly believe what you’re saying right now or if it’s merely to make Ashe feel better. But you stand your ground, both figuratively and literally.>“Yes…even then.”
>>4896806The boy’s face softens a little upon hearing your answer. “I’m…sorry. I had no right to ask you that. Everything that’s happened today…this is something I never dreamed in a million years would ever happen. There are still a lot of questions I have. What drove Lonato to do this? It couldn’t have just been what happened to Cristophe. Something else had to have happened, and I won’t rest until I discover what it is. I’ll become a knight, and I swear upon my name that I’ll discover the truth. It’s the least I can do for Lonato’s memory.”>You smile. “I think…he would like that very much, Ashe.”“Thank you for everything, Blair. If it weren’t for you and the others, I’m not sure I would have been able to see this through.” He grabs your hands. “I swear it, if there’s anything you ever need, I’ll do all I can to help.”>You feel a stronger bond growing with Ashe!>”That’s…nice.”“Uhh…Blair?”Upon having your hands snatched from your spear, a few thoughts race through your head. >How long have I been standing here? Did I get run over by a horse? I wonder what Damian is doing. Maybe getting medical attention wasn’t really a suggestion. I don’t think that Vulnerary worked uh oh.Fortunately, you don’t vocalize these embarrassing thoughts, and you merely crash to the floor, landing on your face. We'll probably be at around Level 9 at that point so it'd come just in time for our Promotion to Pegasus Knight.
>>4896813>Chapter 4: White Clouds, Blue Sea Moon, The Goddess’s Rite of RebirthAs you start to come to, the first thing you realize is that you’re no longer on the ground, but rather lying in a warm bed. There is a ceiling over you, and you can hear the familiar noise of the church bells of the Goddess Tower, which must have woken you from your slumber. You’re definitely not in Gaspard anymore, but how did you get back to the academy so quickly?“Blair! You’re awake!”You turn to your right at the sudden noise to spot Dorothea, sitting in a chair at your bedside. In her hands are a scarf that she appears to have been knitting and judging by its length she’s made quite some progress. Just how long were you out?>“Dorothea? What happened? When did we get back to Garreg Mach?”“You don’t remember? You poor thing. You passed out shortly after the battle. The healers said you were really hurt. Something about taking a lot of internal damage that your Vulneraries couldn’t fix.”You begin retracing your steps, remembering the blow that you had taken from Lonato’s warhorse. It must have rattled something inside you fierce.>“Right, I guess I should have probably seen a healer after the battle.”“Probably is an understatement, Blair. You were knocked out for the entire five-day trip back. We only returned yesterday.”>“Five days?! Well, at least I didn’t miss class.”“You know, that Ashe boy was by your side every day. The medics had to send him away after a while. Hey, do you two have something going on? I think you’d make a cute couple.”You pull your covers over your head. It’s embarrassing enough that you passed out for five entire days, you certainly don’t need Dorothea prodding into your love life. “Hey, come on! You can tell me!”As the two of you begin playing tug of war with the covers, you don’t notice the door opening.“Err…Are we interrupting something?”Peeking your head over your covers, you spot Edelgard standing in the doorway, with Hubert at her side as always.>”Lady Edelgard! H-how are you?” You stammer out, returning the covers back to normal.“I told you, you can just call me Edelgard. And I’m the one who should be asking you that question.” Edelgard pulls up a chair next to Dorothea at your bedside, Hubert opting to stand behind her.“Lady Edelgard thought to pay you a visit and check in on your health. She received word that you and your unit were the ones that managed to slay the enemy general. A most impressive feat, for sure.” Says Hubert, icy eyes looking right through you.>You nod. “I was merely fortunate to have good soldiers at my side.”
>>4898804“Don’t be so modest.” Says Hubert. “Lonato was a trained Knight of Faergus. You’ve proven yourself as a capable fighter. I would have rather enjoyed having you in my unit again during that battle.” You recognize an unmistakable hint of dryness in Hubert’s voice as he made that last remark.Edelgard nods. “Hubert’s right, you should take more pride in your accomplishment. If only the Empire had a thousand soldiers with the tenacity and courage that you, Caspar and Petra share.”>“I appreciate your kind words. I will do continue to strive to do my best.”“Tell me Blair, what are your goals in life?” Asks Edelgard. You think to yourself what a difficult question that is to answer, let alone when it’s being asked by the future leader of the Adrestian Empire.>”I…wish to become a knight and pay back my master, Count Rusalka, with my service.”Edelgard frowns upon hearing your answer. “A noble goal indeed. I have no doubt you’d serve Rusalka with great honor. But is that really what you want in life?”>“The Count took me in after my father died. Were it not for him, I’d not be anywhere near where I am now.”“I don’t necessarily believe that’s true.” Edelgard smiles. “I think you possess exactly the type of resourcefulness and skills needed to stand out amongst the crowd. The Count may have given you a noble upbringing, but even if he hadn’t, you’d still find a way to excel despite your class status.”You’re not too sure that’s the case. No one’s ever told you that you standout. But you can’t deny that hearing praise from your future ruler feels good.>“Thank you…Edelgard. I’m pleased that you feel that way.”“Of course, I meant every word. Get well soon, Blair. The Black Eagles need you.”With that, Edelgard and Hubert take their leave. You’re able to be discharged from the infirmary later that same day, and Dorothea escorts you back to the dorm. That night, you pen a letter to the Count detailing recent events, before heading to sleep. As you drift off, Edelgard’s words remain in your head.As the first week of the month begins, the entire monastery is abuzz preparing for the Goddess’s Rite of Rebirth that will take place at the end of the month. As pilgrims from all around Fodlan gather at Garreg Mach to pay their respects, you remember that Felix told you a small exhibition would be held at the Training Ground this month. You’re not sure if you’re in tip-top shape after Gaspard, but you did tell Felix you’d want to compete.>A) Compete in the Exhibition>B) Spend time with one of your supports. (Select either Ashe, Bernadetta, Caspar, Dorothea, Felix or Petra.)>C) Head to the Chapel and see the preparations for the Rite of Rebirth.>D) Head to the Fishing Grounds. You could use some relaxation after everything that happened.>E) Go to the Marketplace and see if there are any jobs you can do for extra money (Current: 500g)
>>4898805>A) Compete in the ExhibitionAs much as I'd like to spend time with one of our supports....I want that rematch with Petra, along with seeing just how far we can get.>You pull your covers over your head.Gosh Blair is fun
>>4898805>B) Spend time with one of your supports. (Dorothea)Exhibition is running all month no? We just woke up from a 5 day nap after being injured. I think we can afford a week off to rest up a bit and we haven't actually spent much time with Dorothea lately. She's come to check on us, let's see what she's been up to.
>>4898805>B) Spend time with one of your supports. (Dorothea)She was with us while we were knocked out, so we may as well. We can always compete in the tournament a bit later. (Still holding out on when we'll be able to meet Dimitri... Maybe at the end of the exhibition matches if we participate?)
>>4898805>B) Spend time with one of your supports. (Ashe) What a cutie being by our side all this time, we need to thank him for that. Plus I want to check in on how he's doing now that everything has had time to sink in.Also I want to see if we can push him to B rank with this visit.
>>4898805>>A) Compete in the Exhibition

>>4898805If this is the only chance we get then>Compete in the Exhibition. If it lasts longer, and we have a second opportunity later >Spend time with one of your supports (Dorothea). It's been a while since we had some time together. I'll accept Ashe as a possible substitute, though.
>>4898805>>4898880Switching to>A) Compete in the ExhibitionBecause Blair is just shy of another level up and maybe all the spear swinging will give her the needed EXP. Also Dimitri do you want to join in the festivities too maybe...?
>>4898805>>4898805>A) Compete in the ExhibitionIf we do shit at we have the excuse of being run over by a horseJoining the Dimitri summoning circle too kek

>>4898805>A) Compete in the ExhibitionIf this wasn't a one-time thing I'd totally go for Dorothea, but she'll unfortunately have to wait until next opportunity to hangout. I'll just excuse it as Blair not being interested in being teased again since it's still fresh
The Exhibition will run all month, sorry if that wasn't clear earlier.
>>4899412Oh? Well that changes things. I'll change my vote >>4899369 to >B) Spend time with one of your supports. (Dorothea)And give Blair a *little* more time to recover before she gets back into action. Just hope when she joins won't affect who she'll encounter too much.

>>4898805B) Spend time with one of your supports. (Dorororororothea)

Next vote Tie Breaks
>>4898880>>4899574>>4898805If it gets you writing changing my vote(again) to>B) Spend time with one of your supports. (Dorothea)Blair can have a little break as a treat before we force her into all the combat for those EXP gains. Also we still need to get Dorothea up to B rank for a chance at her and Ingrid's paralogue.
>>4898805A combat exhibition sounds…less than savory right now. You decide to give yourself some time to fully recuperate before throwing yourself in the heat of battle again. If you do compete, you don’t want anything holding you back from performing at your best. You begin your first week of classes for the month, focusing once again on studying dusty tomes and manuals detailing battlefield tactics during a famous military operation in Almyra. In particular, one of the manuals you’re reading contains information on Pegasus Knight flight formations that catches your eye. It all seems complex to you still, but you hope that as you get more comfortable with riding a Pegasus, you’ll be able to apply some of this knowledge in practice.Your first week of class ends and you decide to spend some time with Dorothea. Despite being roommates, the two of you seem to be on differing schedules, and rarely spend time with each other outside of sleeping in the same room. After class is over, you decide to take a walk through the Greenhouse together and unwind.“That was quite the conversation you had with Edie the other day.” Says Dorothea, stopping to observe a group of plants labeled “Nordsalat”.>”What did you think? I’m not used to receiving such praise, let alone from someone as important as Edelgard.”“I think she has a point. You should be more confident in yourself, Blair. You’ve achieved a lot since coming to the academy. Those stuck-up nobles may have had their nose turned up when you first got here, but these days I doubt they’ve got much to laugh about.”“I am confident!” You retort back.“Oh come on Blair, you were hiding under your covers like a little girl when I mentioned that Ashe kid. Do you have a crush on him?”>You feel a familiar sensation of warmth creeping over your face before answering, “No! I don’t have a crush on any boys.”“So then…a girl?!” asks Dorothea, a flair of drama in her voice.>“Would you knock it off?!”Dorothea laughs. “Okay fine, but seriously, have you at least considered dating? There’s plenty of eligible bachelors here you know. And most of them come from families that are loaded!”>“I…haven’t given it much thought.” It’s true, you hadn’t. You’ve thought about studying and honing your skills and earning a knighthood, but finding a lover was never something that ranked high on your priority list. And why would it be? It’s not like anyone’s ever complimented you on your looks. Your mind recalls the Count’s heir, Rex, once referring to you as “The plainest looking girl” he’d ever seen.“Well, you should! There are so many fairy tales about students finding love here. Stories about confessions of love at the Goddess Tower and couples that stay together forever. Ugh, why can’t that be me?” Dorothea asks, dejectedly.>“Cheer up, I’m sure you’ll find someone soon! Faster than I, in any case.”
>>4900941“See! There we go again. Honestly, how can you be so confident when it comes to sticking holes in people, but not yourself? Even forgetting boys for a minute, it would go a long way when you’re eventually leading your own unit.>You sigh. “Well, I guess you’re right. I’ll do my best to be a little more…assertive.”“That’s the spirit!”>You feel a stronger bond growing with Dorothea!Despite the ongoing buzz and excitement surrounding the upcoming Rite of Rebirth festival, the shadow of Gaspard’s recent religious rebellion hangs over Garreg Mach. A letter had been found in Lonato’s possession that detailed an existing plot to assassinate Archbishop Rhea. As such, the Knights of Seiros are on much higher guard than usual, and you can’t turn a corner in the monastery without almost bumping into knights standing guard or walking patrol. The monastery gates are wide open to the public during the ceremony, and concerns are mounting regarding Rhea’s safety. This month, the student’s mission will be to stand guard at Garreg Mach, watching areas of high value that could be a target for suspicious parties or assassins that make their way into the monastery while the gates are open. After class one day, Professor Byleth circulates lists containing the names of students and the areas of the monastery they will oversee defending. “The Holy Mausoleum?” Asks Dorothea. “Sounds spooky. What did you get, Blair?”>“Tauros Village?” You say, confusion evident in your voice. “Professor?”“The Knights of Seiros have asked us to delegate some students aside to help with the escorting of villagers and clergy that will be making their way to the monastery.” Says Byleth, walking over. “Ordinarily, the Knights would oversee this task, but given the…ongoing threat, the majority of the knights will be staying here, instead. You’ll be working alongside some of the other houses under the supervision of a Knight to escort Tauros Village’s pilgrims and resident priestess, ensuring they aren’t accosted by bandits or worse along the way here.”An escort mission? Well, you suppose it beats standing around guarding dusty rooms and antiques. “Yoohoo! Blair! You’re going to Tauros Village too? How exciting! I was worried I wouldn’t be with anyone I knew!”You turn around to spot Corrine, waving at you, a bright grin on her face.>How will you spend your day of free time?>A) Compete in the Exhibition>B) Spend time with one of your supports. >>4900943>A) Compete in the ExhibitionGotta hand over the week to the Exhibition bros this time. I think one week is enough to recuperate, so it's time to get our ass beat like a bongo drum.Okay so we get escort duty with Corinne and most likely some other NPC chumps, possibly someone of importance from another house. Honestly could be worse, Corinne seemed the least whack out of Hubert's whole squad. Lets hope she stays that way.

>>4900943>A) Compete in the ExhibitionAn inter-house mission? I have a feeling there won't be many of the big names, but color me intrigued even if we have to share it with one of Hubert's goons. And yeah, I think a week of relative rest ought to be enough.
>>4901429Im down to spend time with Corinne. She checks my boxes
>>4900943>A) Compete in the ExhibitionAs much as I'd like to spend some time with Ashe, there's a lot of fights with certain characters that are going to be in the exhibition that I want to see. >>4900943(Pardon the new IP. I'm away from home this next week)You quickly scamper out of class, pretending you did not hear Corrine calling your name. The exhibition at the Tournament Grounds is still ongoing, and you decide that you’re feeling healthy enough to compete. You head over to find the grounds bustling with more activity than usual. Students have been competing against each other and outside visitors to the monastery for a week now, under the supervision of the Commander of the Knights of Seiros, Catherine. While you’ve missed the first week of competition, you can still get in some practice matches. Upon entering the grounds, you spot Catherine and walk over to her.“Blair, was it? Good to see you out and about. I had heard you fell unconscious shortly after the battle. Are you feeling well enough to compete?”>You nod. “I am. I was hoping you could match me against an opponent.”“Well, if you’re up to it, of course I can. I’m eager to see what the girl that helped take down Lonato can do.” Catherine begins scanning the field for a suitable opponent for you when another student walks up.“Is that you, Blair? What a surprise!” You turn to see Byron greeting you. Why is the Goddess attracting all these freaks to you today?“Byron, I thought I had you dueling with Cedric?” Asks Catherine.“Well, that’s just it, it seems that our duel ended…more abruptly than you might have expected.” With a grin, the boy steps aside and points a finger to a nearby during circle. Inside lies a smaller Black Eagle student, rolling on the ground crying. His nose is gushing blood as a medic casts a healing spell.“I was hoping you might give me someone a little closer to my skill level, and then I saw Blair here! What do you say, Blair? I’ve been wanting a spar with you ever since our time in Zanado.” Byron says.Well, why not? You can’t stand this creep, but if he’s giving you an opportunity to kick his ass, who are you to say no?>You nod. “I’d be happy to.”Byron smiles. “Great! I was beginning to worry you were more of a Blue Lion than a Black Eagle these days, but good to see you’ve still got some guts.”“Take the stage once they clear Cedric out, I’ll be watching.” Says Catherine.Heading over to the practice area, you take your practice spear up and face off against Byron. The boy has a wooden sword and shield in his hands and is staring at you with a look you don’t appreciate. Judging by what you saw happen to his previous sparring partner, you don’t expect this to be a friendly exhibition. “Three! Two! One! Begin!” Yells CatherineByronClass: Level 7 SoldierHP: 32, STR: 12, MAG: 4, DEX: 9, SPD: 6, LCK: 8, DEF: 12, RES: 4, CHRM: 6Equipped: Training Sword (+3 Damage)Skills: Daunt: (Reduce enemy hit/avo by 10)
>>4902810Byron begins moving forward towards you, shield up. It looks like he plans to play it safe with you, but you have no intention of playing along. You’ve seen him in combat before, and while the boy is definitely sturdy, he’s overly fond of that armor his father bought for him. You unleash a barrage of spear jabs that keep the boy hidden behind his shield. Along the way, you clip him twice in his armor, dealing damage. (-6 HP, Byron 26/32)Growling, Byron lashes out with his sword and catches you on the arm (-5 HP, 24/29). Before he can raise his shield back up though, you kick him square in the chest. As the boy’s guard is completely dropped, you decide to take out some of your pent-up frustration. You slam your spear twice into Byron’s midsection so hard, you fear the weapon will splinter in your hands. (-14, Byron 12/32)You’re unsure whether Byron is regretting his decision to challenge you, but the stupid grin he had on his face has been replaced with one of abject scorn. Tossing his shield aside, he grips his sword two-handed and charges you. Byron has tossed all caution to the wind and swings his sword in a horizontal arc at your head. It’s almost comically simple to duck underneath and catch him in the legs with a sweep of your spear, knocking him on his ass. Before he can respond, you slam the butt of your spear into his head. Once it appears he isn’t ready to surrender, you slam the spear again, this time knocking him out. (Byron, KO)>40xp Gained. (+500g, 1000g total). That’ll come in handy, though if this month’s mission is really just a simple escort, you imagine you won’t need to prepare as much.Another week begins and you hit the Pegasus Stables, gaining further training with your mount. You’re able to more confidently fly, and the instructor says that if you continue to practice, you should be able to soon pass your Pegasus Knight examination, and receive your very own mount. After wrapping up training, you’re given some final free time to prepare before heading to Tauros Village.>A) Compete in the Exhibition again>B) Spend time with one of your supports. >>4902812Nice, that's one of Hubert's bloodthirsty lackeys knocked down a peg. Now, I'd like to see if we can meet someone new, we haven't interacted with anyone from the golden deers if memory serves. Sadly, the library and food hall are the most likely places but those don't seem available so let's check...>C) Head to the Chapel and see the preparations for the Rite of Rebirth.Gives a chance to delve into Blair's thought on the faith perhaps, maybe meet some nice people (like Mercedes, Marianne or Flayn for example). >>4903172It's a Story/Narrative stat mostly. The higher she gets, the easier it is to interact with certain characters without dropping spaghetti, etc. And vice-versa.
>>4903419But Blair dropping spaghetti is so cute!
>>4903756But with higher Charm we can pretend to drop spaghetti! That way Ashe, or any person of interest, will find us endearing. Kinda like how Charlotte pretends to be ditzy to seem appealing.
>>4903803Bah, without it being genuine it lacks the soul of a true, cute spaghetti dropping!
>>4902812You decide to check in on Ashe. It has been a few weeks now since the battle in Gaspard, and you’d like to make sure he’s been doing okay since then. The last you’d heard of him; he’d been at your side when you had collapsed. After asking around, you find the silver-haired youth at the Knights Ground, watching some of the Knights of Seiros running their practice drills. The boy looks lost in thought, but upon noticing you approaching, a bright smile overtakes his face.“Blair! You’re awake! How are you feeling?”>“Much better, fortunately. I guess I overdid it during the operation. Thank you for ensuring that the medics came to my aid.”“Of course! What else would I have done? You were amazing out there, Blair. How long have you been training?”>“The last five years or so, it was pretty much all I did. I practiced almost every day with the Man-At-Arms at Rusalka’s court. It was strict at times, but I was told that if I wanted to be a knight, I’d have to endure far worse one day.”Ashe’s eyes light up. “You’re training to be a knight too?”>You nod. “Yes. I’m not a noble after all. So, training for a knighthood is the next best thing I can strive for.”“Ahh, I’m the same!” Says Ashe. “I’ve always dreamed of becoming a noble knight, like the ones you’d hear about in the stories growing up. A valiant defender of the weak, saving those in distress. It’s why I came to the Academy. Lonato…” At the mention of his adopted father’s name, the boy’s voice trails off.>“How have you been feeling lately, Ashe?”“I still have a hard time believing it’s all real. That Lonato is dead and I’m the one who killed him. I killed the man that paid for me to even be at this school. It’s all so…hard to believe.”>“All we can do is move forward. Become the knight that Lonato knew you could be and find out the truth about what actually happened.”Ashe smiles. “Gee, there you go cheering me up again. I’m starting to feel kind of bad about how much you’ve been helping me out.”>“That’s what friends are for, right?”“Right! Oh, I know!” Ashe digs into the bag sitting at his side, before taking out a book. “You’re training to be a knight, so have you ever read the story of Dame Alma?”>“No, I don’t think I have. I only learned to read upon being adopted by the Count, and even then, it wasn’t really for leisure purposes.”“It’s a book I just finished. Dame Alma was an Adrestian Pegasus Knight. She was so fearsome in battle, her enemies called her the ‘Witch of the Skies.’ But despite her moniker, she was a caring and brave soul who risked her life to save her comrade from the clutches of an Almyran ambush.”>“She sounds like quite the character.”Ashe hands you the book. “Take it! After reading it, I think you remind me a lot of her.”
>>4905057>You bow. “Thank you, Ashe, I look forward to letting you know my thoughts!”The two of you spend the rest of the afternoon, talking and watching the Knights at work.>You gain a B-Support with Ashe! You’ll be heading out to Tauros Village in a few days, and as usual, you head over to the Marketplace to do any last-minute shopping before your mission. >>4905060You settle on purchasing a Javelin from the shopkeeper, before heading back to the dormitory.>Javelin Obtained! (550g left)That night, you begin reading the book that Ashe gave you, entitled, “The Life and Conflicts of Dame Alma.” In the book, Alma is described as a beautiful and regal woman who was born to a peasant family in Adrestia. One day, while picking berries in the woods, she encounters an injured Pegasus that she nurses back to health. She returns to the forest every day to bring the Pegasus food and water, until one day, her village is razed to the ground by enemy soldiers in what would become the First Mach War of 721, where the empire of Dagda invaded Adrestia. She is found by Dagdan soldiers when she returns, but before she is captured by them, the Pegasus she healed comes to her aid, allowing her to mount him and fly away. She then joins the Imperial Army as a Pegasus Rider, eventually working her way up from a mere common soldier to Commander of the Empire’s Pegasus Squadrons. The book goes into detail of her many conflicts, including a famous battle with a powerful Almyran Wyvern Knight, where Alma wins by the skin of her teeth after launching a javelin that strikes true at her foe’s weakpoint. You fail to see the similarities between you and Alma, but it’s still a nice thing for Ashe to say. You do find that you are feeling pretty inspired after reading the book though, especially the part regarding Alma’s fateful throw.>+2 Dex!You awaken early the next morning, strapping on your boots, armor, and double checking your vulneraries and weapons. Not forgetting to equip your new Javelin, you heard out towards the front gates of Garreg Mach, where you’re to meet the Knight of Seiros who will be overseeing the mission, along with Corrine and the rest of your unit.Upon arriving, you spot Corrine first, seated on a nearby barrel, looking at herself in a pocket mirror and applying some sort of makeup product. If you hadn’t seen her eviscerate several bandits at once back at Zanado, you’d think she was some sort of handmaiden. “Hey Blair! I’m so excited to be working with you again!” Corinne says, putting down her mirror to address you.>“Yes, I’m looking forward to it.” You manage to say somewhat convincingly.”“Oh, I heard about what you did to Byron the other day! He was so mad about it, some of the other students had to restrain him from going after you after he regained consciousness. You must have really roughed him up bad, Blair!” She says, laughing.>“It was…just a friendly spar.”“He didn’t seem to think so. Better watch out, Blair. Byron can be quite the hothead, as I’m sure you know. I’d hate to hear about him doing anything…uncouth to you.”You notice that there are two other girls at the gate, staring at you. The symbols on their uniforms denote them as Blue Lions. Both girls approach to introduce themselves.
>>4906473“Are you heading to Tauros Village too? That means we’ll be working together! My name is Annette Fantine Dominic, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” The first girl says. She’s a short, cheery lass with a bright smile and even brighter orange hair.“Yes, and my name is Mercedes Martritz. Happy to meet you!” The other girl says. She’s taller, with light blonde hair and a pleasant demeanor.>“I’m Blair d’Rusalka. Nice to meet you.”“You’re the girl Ashe was talking about!” Chimes in Annette. “You helped him out back in Gaspard. Thank you so much! Ashe is a dear friend, we were devastated when we found out we wouldn’t be allowed to accompany him on his mission, but I’m glad that he had you looking out for him.”At that moment, you spot a mounted knight slowly approaching the gate. The man looks to be a model Knight of Seiros, with immaculate white plate armor and an impressive steed. As he approaches, he gets off his horse, before addressing the group.“This is who I’ll be working with? Surely there must be some mistake. Your four look like you belong knitting fancy dresses in some decadent manor somewhere. Goddess, what did I do to deserve this duty?” The man moans. An awkward silence follows before the man speaks again.“A daft lot, aren’t you? Let’s hope you can fight better than you can gab. My name is Leopod von Deltz. I am a Knight of Seiros of over 10 years serving under Archbishop Rhea, and I will be commanding this operation. Follow my orders and do as you’re told, and there won’t be any problems, understood?”“Sir, yes sir!” The four of you shout.“My understanding was that there would be two more students on this mission.” Says Leopold. “Where are-““Sorry we’re late!” You hear someone call out. That voice sounds familiar. It’s Raphael. The large boy is running towards your group, buttoning his uniform as he does so. At his side is a much smaller, bookish looking boy with glasses, who also appears to be a Golden Deer.“And you are?” Leopold asks.“My name is Raphael Kirsten, and this is Ignatz Victor!” Raphael chimes in cheerily, answering for his friend.
>>4906478“And why are you late, Mr. Kirsten?” Asks Leopold, quietly.“Ahh, sorry about that, it’s my fault. I spent all day yesterday training. I guess I overdid it and overslept. It took Ignatz here longer than usual to wake me-” Before Raphael can finish, Leopold has already hit him hard on the side of the head, knocking the large boy down to one knee.“I will not tolerate tardiness in my unit, Mr. Kirsten. Your professors may be more forgiving of such foolish behavior, but you’ll find that I am not. Now gather your belongings and get in line. The trip to Tauros Village will take two days.”Unlike the previous two marches that you’ve been on, the trip to Tauros Village is much quieter. You’re unsure whether that’s because there are only seven of you, or because no one feels particularly comfortable chatting it up around Leopold. At the end of the first night, Leopold calls a halt to the trip and orders you and everyone else to set up camp. After camp has been set up, you find that everyone has gone to their own respective corners. There is still some time left before you go to sleep. Who should you approach?>A): Talk to Corrine. She’s by herself, and she is a Black Eagle. Maybe you should get to know her more.>B): Talk to the Blue Lions. Mercedes and Annette seemed really nice earlier.>C): Talk to the Golden Deer. Next update coming soon™ . This week is a bit sporadic as I'm travelling, but I'm not dead. Should be up tomorrow or so.
>>4908224Enjoy your trip!
On the topic of the Knights of Seiros faction, are we gonna buddy up with anyone from there?Catherine seems like she'd be at odds with Ashe, Shamir's cool but her areas of expertise aren't going to be our focus. Gatekeeper's a given.
>>4909047Depends on how much Blair appreciates puns. Also would love to see her interact with Flayn and Seteth, though I'm having a hard time coming up with how they'd meet other than the aftermath of something that's going to happen soon.
>>4906481You decide that you’ll speak with Annette and Mercedes. While part of you wants to figure out what makes someone like Corrine tick, you feel that it may be better if you keep your distance, at least for the time being. You approach the two girls, who are currently sitting by the campfire. Both appear to be cooking some sort of meal and look up when you approach.“Hey Blair! Dinner will be ready soon.” Says Annette cheerfully.>“Is there anything I can do to help?”“Just sit back. Annette is a natural when it comes to cooking. You’re in for quite a treat!” Says Mercedes. You take up a seat on the log next to the girls, watching Annette cook the remnants of two rabbits that Ignatz had caught earlier during your trip. “I hope we can make it back to the Academy in-time for the Rite of Rebirth festival.” Muses Annette. “The trip to and from Tauros Village should take about four days in total.” Answers Mercedes. “Provided nothing goes wrong, we should make it back just in time.” “I attended the festival once when I much younger. It really is so much fun! How about you, Blair? Have you ever been?”>You shake your head. “No, unfortunately I did not. The Rite wasn’t really celebrated back at home.”“Wasn’t celebrated?! It’s only the most important day of the year for the Church of Seiros!” Says Mercedes. “They say it’s the day where the Goddess will return to Fodlan to walk amongst her followers.”>“Ahh…the ceremony…never really came up too much back at home I guess.”Mercedes frowns. “I had heard that the faith had waned somewhat in the Empire recently, but I had no idea they didn’t even celebrate the Rite anymore.”It’s true. Faith in the Church of Seiros was not popular in the Empire these days. Your father was an adherent of the Church, and as such you were also raised under its teachings. But that ceased after coming to Rusalka’s court. While there were some followers amongst the Count’s retinue, the Church was by and large mostly unpopular. Many, both peasant and noble alike, carried resentment against the Church, feeling that they were kept oppressed by its stringent and archaic rules. In addition, the Western denomination of the faith had been gaining popularity in recent years. While the two branches were very similar, the Western branch did not adhere to the Archbishop’s decrees, and considered her to be an apostate.“I have an idea!” Says Annette. “How about when this is all over, we take Blair around the festival! Since people from all over Fodlan come to Garreg Mach for the Rite, there’s an abundance of delicious food and treats. You’d love it!”>You smile and nod. “Thank you. I’d like that very much. You eat dinner with everyone else, and then head to sleep, ready for another day of marching tomorrow.>You feel a bond growing with Annette and Mercedes!
>>4909122The next evening, you and the group arrive at your destination. Tauros Village is a small, quaint area that doesn’t stand out much from any other village you’ve been to. Men and women move around completing the day’s tasks. Tiny huts and houses are scattered here and there, with a larger chapel centered in the middle of the town. As you approach the chapel to rendezvous with the priestess you were sent to escort, you notice that you’re getting looks from the various villagers. You imagine that you’re probably looking out of the ordinary compared to most of the visitors they receive, but you can’t help but notice that many of them appear to be staring at you with suspicion, or even hostility.Leopold enters the chapel first, followed by you and the group. The nave is spruce, with only a few benches and an altar that looks like it’s seen better days. The room is occupied by only one woman, who is kneeling in prayer to the altar. As you enter, she turns around, seemingly startled at first, but relaxes upon seeing the Knight of Seiros insignia emblazoned on Leopold’s armor.“Greetings. My name is Elizabeth. I am the Priestess of this Chapel. It is an honor to meet your acquaintance.” Elizabeth bows.Leopold returns the woman’s greeting. “Well met, Priestess. We’re here to escort you and the others to Garreg Mach in preparation for the Rite of Rebirth. Will you need some time to gather the others?”“I’m afraid, good knight, that I am the only one that shall be in attendance.”Leopold scoffs. “Pardon? Surely their must be some mistake. We were told we’d be escorting the Priestess of this village, along with a group of pilgrims, back to the monastery.”
>>4909124Elizabeth shakes her head. “I apologize, but things have…changed recently.” The priestess lights a candle, before speaking. “A few months ago, some men from outside the village began visiting us. I don’t know who they were, but they preached against the Archbishop, denouncing her as a blasphemer. At first, I thought they were simply missionaries from the Western Church, but…things started to escalate.” Elizabeth walks to the other side of the chapel, lighting more candles.“The strange men began to blame the Church for the recent drought and bad harvest, saying it was punishment from the Goddess for following the false church. The people here, Goddess bless them, they’re good people. But they were manipulated by the honeyed words of those men. They came here, showering the villagers with extra grain, and promised to help save their souls from damnation. Since then, things have gotten worse. Pilgrims have been run out of the village, and attendance to the weekly masses has completely plummeted.”Leopold looks as if someone had just struck him. “You’re saying that pilgrims were harmed by men preaching against the Church?! Why did you not send for the Knights?!”Elizabeth bows. “I’m sorry my lord, but I feared the repercussions. There are not many friends of the Church left here. I worried that if I was seen departing the village on my own, I’d be followed and…”“Enough.” Leopold cuts her off. “I understand. Well, it can’t be helped. We’ll take you back to the monastery, where you can report what you’ve encountered here so that the Knights may investigate.”“Thank you, my lord. It’s getting late. Please, stay here and rest tonight, and we may depart first thing tomorrow morning. All of you, make yourselves at home.”Night falls, and you unpack your belongings and settle into a corner of the spruce chapel. Tomorrow you’ll be heading back to the monastery, and after what you just heard from Elizabeth, it seems like sticking around isn’t in your best interest.Who will you speak with before going to sleep?>A): Talk to Corrine. She’s by herself, and she is a Black Eagle. Maybe you should get to know her more.>B): Introduce yourself to the priestess, Elizabeth. >C): Talk to the Golden Deer. >>4909130Night falls, and the chapel is illuminated only by the various candles that the priestess had lit. Outside, you hear nothing but the sounds of crickets chirping, and the villagers seem to have mostly turned in as well. As the other members of your party are getting ready to sleep, you decide to speak to Elizabeth, who is currently reading from the Book of Seiros. As you approach, she puts her book down and smiles. “Greetings, young one. I don’t believe we have been acquainted. I am Elizabeth.”>You bow. “An honor to meet you, my lady. I am Blair.”Elizabeth chuckles. “No need to be so formal, Blair. I’m not a noble lady, merely a Priestess of Seiros.”>A slight blush creeps on your cheeks as your lack of understanding of the faith shows, but you plow through it. “I was wondering, you said these men came to your village but a few months ago?”“Yes, about three months ago from my recollections.”>“There was an uprising against the Church in Gaspard recently. The cause of it is still somewhat uncertain…but I wonder if these men you’ve seen may have been involved.”Elizabeth contemplates your words before speaking. “Word of Lord Lonato’s rebellion reached even this small village. We’re aware of how that story ended…and yet I fear the man is well on his way to becoming a martyr for those who bare ill will against the Central Church.” Elizabeth sighs.>“I’m sorry, priestess. I know that these last months must have been difficult.”“The Goddess has certainly deemed fit to test me, yes. I only inherited this post this year. The former priest of this village was a kind man, who raised me as if I were his own daughter. He instructed me under the teachings of the Central Church and guided me towards the clergy. I shudder when I think how he would react to seeing what has become of his beloved home.”>“Don’t worry. We’ll get you back to the Monastery safe and sound. The Knight’s investigation will surely get to the bottom of this.Elizabeth smiles. “Thank you, Blair. Your words make me feel at ease.”As you leave to return to your corner, a loud noise from outside grabs your attention. It sounds almost like a large wagon being pulled.“What’s that noise?” Asks Annette.“It sounds like wheels moving. Maybe one of the villagers is carting something away?” Says Ignatz.“At this hour? Seiros preserve. What a hard worker!” Says Mercedes.“Hey! Life in one of these small villages is pretty tough!” Says Raphael. That answer seems to be satisfactory for most of the group. Almost everyone returns to what they were doing before, the exceptions being Leopold, who you notice is staring at the front door of the chapel with suspicion, and Corrine, who at some point, grabbed her axe from where she was sitting.
>>4911133One thing about Ignatz’s explanation seemed off. Someone doesn’t seem to be carting something away. In fact, the sound is getting closer towards the chapel. Finally, the wheels stop turning, and a few moments later you hear a loud clicking noise.“Hmm, I guess they’ve reached their destination.” Says Mercedes, cheerfully.“Take cover! Now!” Yells Leopold, unsheathing his sword and shield.A loud ‘twang’ sound is all you hear before the world around you seems to explode. Something from the outside collides heavily with the front of the chapel, sending stone and brickwork exploding inward. The good news is you weren’t standing too close to the initial explosion. The bad news is some of the stonework that exploded inward collided directly with you in a particularly painful fashion. (-5 HP, 24/29)As the smoke is clearing and you’re desperately trying to catch your breath, you hear a voice from outside calling out.“Men and women of Tauros Village! Gaze upon how easily the infidel’s temples fall! Would such a thing happen were this place truly protected by the Goddess Seiros?!”The man is answered by a loud roar. Too loud. How many bastards are out there?! “The Archbishop sends a pet knight here to collect one of her lying charlatans. And among them are students from that accursed academy, where children are bred into killers that will serve only to ensure your oppression continues!”Another loud roar follows the man’s speech. You look around, your party is already recovering from the initial explosion. Everyone took a small amount of damage, but no one is grievously wounded.“Let us show the Archbishop that her lapdogs are not welcome in this village! Let us show her the consequences of her blasphemous ways, and what happens when she falsely believes that she alone speaks for the Goddess!”Another round of screaming. From the side of the chapel, you hear the sounds of wood splintering, An axe comes through from the outside of the wall, and you quickly realize that someone is trying to make another entrance inside.“Bring me the heads of all the deceivers inside!”
>>4911134“Raphael! Ignatz! You’re with me at the front! Do not let them enter!” Yells Leopold. “Mercedes and Annette, stay in the back and support us with your magic! Blair and Corrine! Do not let them in through our flank! Priestess, stay in the back!”“I can assist too, my lord! I know healing magic!” Cries Elizabeth.“Fine! But be careful! The enemy has a ballista. I don’t know if they intend to use it while their own men are in the crossfire, but it’s a possibility. These cowards waited until nightfall to attack us, but if we can outlast them until morning, they may turn tail and run!”You and Corrine run to where the large hole in the wall is currently being made. One of the axe-men smashes through the wall with his axe again, but before he can pull his weapon back, his hands are lopped off clean by Corrine, who arrives just in time. The man pulls back into the darkness, screaming at the top of his lungs, but he is replaced by two more men who smash through successfully and create an opening.“Just like old times, huh Blair?” giggles Corrine.>A) Stand your ground with Corrine and fight the two men in front of you that you can see.>B) You still have your torch! But it’s going to take some effort to light it in these conditions. Tell Corrine to try and hold them off while you fiddle with it.>C) Take the fight to them! Fight these two men off, and then plunge outside to keep anyone from entering the chapel.>D) Write-in
>>4911135>A) Stand your ground with Corrine and fight the two men in front of you that you can see.Throwing away the chokepoint is not advisable, especially since we don't know the full strength of our enemies. Worst case scenario it's the whole town, at which point it'd be prudent to suggest withdrawing to Leopold through the newly installed back door. Especially since they might just torch the whole Cathedral if they can't break through the lines, or open up even more pathways into the Cathedral via the destructible walls.Lighting up the Torch would be an acceptable second choice, but I'm afraid of a situation where Corrine isn't able to hold the chokepoint herself and we end up with enemy combatants inside the perimiter.
>>4911135>B) You still have your torch! But it’s going to take some effort to light it in these conditions. Tell Corrine to try and hold them off while you fiddle with it.
>>4911239Taking time to light to torch will be easier on everyone, fighting in the dark is a bad idea when ignatz and the spellcasters can't see where they're aiming. Plus if someone manages to take down Raf then it'll be even more strain on our ranged fighters.Plus if they want a night ambush maybe exposing them via light may spook some of them into running off.
>>4911135>A) Stand your ground with Corrine and fight the two men in front of you that you can see.Let's first deal with these two then light the torch, Corrine and us should be able to deal with them pretty quickly.
>>4911135>A) Stand your ground with Corrine and fight the two men in front of you that you can see.
>>4911135>>A) Stand your ground with Corrine and fight the two men in front of you that you can see.
>>4911135>B) You still have your torch! But it’s going to take some effort to light it in these conditions. Tell Corrine to try and hold them off while you fiddle with it.Let's take the opportunity while Corrnie is still fresh and might be able to hold the choke point on her own for a bit, rather than wait until it's too late. For all we know, they might decide to carve another wall up. I'd rather we be able to see that happen.
>>4911135>B) You still have your torch! But it’s going to take some effort to light it in these conditions. Tell Corrine to try and hold them off while you fiddle with it.Corrine was handpicked to be part of Hubert's death squad, if she can't hold off a few angry villagers then what is she good for.
>>4911135>B) You still have your torch! But it’s going to take some effort to light it in these conditions. Tell Corrine to try and hold them off while you fiddle with it.Do it while the two at the choke point are essentially blocking it off from more reinforcements enterting. If one does break through then if the torch is lit Blair can easily nail him with a javelin before he does too much damage.
>>4911135>B) You still have your torch! But it’s going to take some effort to light it in these conditions. Tell Corrine to try and hold them off while you fiddle with it.Let's not move though, we don't want to let them in.
wow, blair got dex from talking ashe up. pretty neat. >>4909088perhaps seteth and blair would meet from blair's interest in flying. seteth takes an interest in talking ingrid, blair's most obvious counterpart, through her issues with crests and her family. perhaps seteth/blair interactions would focus on blair's feeble relationship with the Church. maybe she would expect seteth to try to encourage her towards believing, but is surprised when he mentions his distrust of blind faith and dogma? >>4911135>B) You still have your torch! But it’s going to take some effort to light it in these conditions. Tell Corrine to try and hold them off while you fiddle with it.
>>4912620I do want to talk to Seteth, he's a cool guy and he could give tips on flying.
>>4912763Yes, let us crash a Pegasus when we return to the Monastery so we can attract the attention of Seteth, Marianne and Ingrid at the same time.
>>4912774Let us not hurt the pegasus.
>>4912783Of course not intentionally!
>>4911135You still have the Torch that you bought last month! If you can get it lit, you should be able to get a clearer picture of what you’re up against. You pull the item out of your satchel.>“Corrine! Hold them off while I light this thing!” You yell.Corrine brandishes her axe and moves to plug the hole. “I love a girl that comes prepared! Get to it!”You take out your tinderbox and begin going through the process of lighting your torch. You can gather from the sounds around you that the battle has started in earnest. Men are trying to flood through the opening the ballista punched through the chapel but are being fended off by Leopold and the others. A sudden brightness and increase in temperature followed by screaming informs you that Annette has begun throwing fireballs at the stream of foes. The two axe men that broke through the wall attempt to force themselves inside, but Corrine is swinging her axe like a madwoman, keeping them at bay. One of the men musters the courage to charge at the girl, chopping down with his axe. He manages to catch Corinne with a weak blow to the chest that staggers her, but is unable to do any significant damage through her breastplate. (Corrine 25/35 HP) In retaliation, Corrine swipes up with her own axe into the man’s gut, disemboweling him. As the soldier falls to his knees screaming, she delivers a brutal kick that sends him into his friend, throwing the second axe fighter off balance and sending him to the ground. Before he can get back up, his head is split in two by Corrine. You’ve just about finished lighting the torch when an arrow flies right over your head. As you look up, you see another arrow sail into Corrine’s shoulder, sending her back a few steps. Two more soldiers appear through the gap, these ones wielding lances.“Any day now, darling!” Corrine yells, frustration evident in her voice. (20/35 HP)You strike the match and the torch comes to life, illuminating your surroundings, along with granting you some visibility through the gap in the walls. >>4914154Man, Conquest brings back some memories, Pineapple-kun was a fuck.
>>4913114“Sir Leopold! The enemy is breaking through the back!” You yell, hoping to grab the senior knight’s attention.“Hold them off then! This tide will stem once enough of these louts have been put to the sword!” The Paladin blocks an incoming sword slash from one of the front assailants with his shield, before pushing him back, slashing a Hand Axe out of the air, and shield bashing a Myrmidon in the face. You won’t be getting any support from this front, at least not yet. Fortunately, Elizabeth seems to have committed to staying behind with you and Corrine. The two soldiers charge through the gap, one heading towards Corrine, and the other towards you. Lashing out with his spear, the man manages to stab you in the chest before you can pull back in time (-6 HP, 18/29).>”Bastard!” You feel that familiar sense of battle rage creep up. You counterattack with your own spear, penetrating through his leather gambeson as if it were made of leaves. (Fiery Blood, +4 Damage.) As the man falls to his fours, coughing up blood, you stick him through the back and end his suffering. >30xp gained! You look up just in time to see Corrine’s axe cut right through the middle of her opponent’s spear. As he looks at his now empty hands, blankly wondering what happened, the axe cuts into his face, killing him.The two archers from outside can more accurately aim in your direction thanks to the Torch you lit earlier. Unfortunately, it’s a boon for them as much as it is you. Both fire through the holes in the gap and clip both you and Corrine. (14/29 HP, Corrine 15/35 HP).A Myrmidon rushes past both archers and is making a beeline for the hole in the wall they’re facing. Behind him, you spot an Armor Knight slowly lumbering towards the gap. A scream from Elizabeth and a loud crashing noise alerts you that an Axe Fighter has finished breaking the North wall and is kicking aside the debris to make room to step inside.“Heal!” Yells Elizabeth. You see a white light surround Corrine, and some of her surface wounds begin rapidly closing. (Corrine 25/35). The priestess looks towards you and begins casting another round of her healing magic. You’re happy she’s here, but she’s clearly no warrior. She can only heal you one at a time, and her magic can only do so much. “Lovely, more unwelcome guests! Would you like to greet them, or shall I?” Asks Corrine.>End of Turn 2>A): Head to block off the Axe Fighter. If you don’t block that gap off soon, more enemies may begin pouring in.>B) Keep plugging the hole you’re at and fight off the Myrmidon. You’ll be a better match for him with your Spear than Corrine would. But this will leave you open to those Archers, and you’re already badly hurt.>C) Meet the Myrmidon head on, and then go outside and attack the Archers. You can’t keep letting them have open shots on you like this.>YesIf we abandon this point to go take on the axe fighter corrine and Elizabeth are going to be overwhelmed, and staying put to fight the myrmidon will cause the archers to whittle down our HP quicker than Elizabeth can heal us. Let's soften up the Myrmidon for corrine to take out while we move on take out the archers before using our speed to hustle away from the armor knight back into the church.
>>4914285>B) Keep plugging the hole you’re at and fight off the Myrmidon. You’ll be a better match for him with your Spear than Corrine would. >>4914285Man, this is getting tough. >>4914327Supporting this. Could we equip our javelin to beat the myrmidon, then use it to counterattack when the archers attack again? I do wonder how come villagers have armor knights and myrmidons alongside them...
>>4914285>>4914303>>4914314Eh you're right, changing my vote to support you're write in
>>4914681That's an option yes. Though you're likely to not kill anyone with said Javelin. At least immediately.
>>4914923Well, a wounded archer probably can't aim as well as a healthy one. I'd say it's worth a try, that's the sort of situation we bought it for.
I now see why the shield was an option in the shop.
I kind of had the image of Blair acting like Corrine to intimidate these enemies, or at least the archers, into running away by bloodthirstily shouting about the retribution the Church will bring down on their heads, and gosh what she's going to do to them, just look at the company I keep, look at how my friend Corrine is so enthusiastically disemboweling you guys, and I'll do the same and I'll do worse. And so some of them scram instead of fight these two crazy Church zealots, as after all, most people don't want to die, and these are mostly villagers (with some unexplained military support). And then after the battle's over Corrine ribs Blair about it and Blair drops the act and informs her that it was just to get some of the enemies to run away and save their own lives instead of dying pointlessly; at the same time it'd kind of reinforce Blair's 'I'll do what I can to finish my job' pragmatic attitude, that she wouldn't care about having a reputation as bloodthirsty if she could save some lives, or something like that. But that's a scene that depends on a lot of things and might not be congruent with everyone else's idea of Blair. The enemies are kind of actual zealots at this point so they might not run away and then the whole scene kind of collapses.>>4914285>D) Send Corrine to the new backdoor, while you suppress the enemies in front of you with your Javelin. >A) YesSomeone has to block the back.In a Fire Emblem game proper, I would equip Blair with a Javelin and let her do chip damage on Enemy Phase while heal-tanking, here. She has one more Defense than Corrine, going off of the respective damage that they took from arrows. 2x archers=8 damageMyrmidon, probably weaker than Petra especially compared to Blair, but using a real weapon (the difference between a Training Sword and an Iron Sword is 2Mt), so we'll guess that he'll do approximately the same amount of damage as she did: 5 (or we can guess 6 or 7 to be safe). That's 15 damage incoming for sure. And the Armored Knight. Hopefully he is too slow to reach Blair, but given the description of him lumbering 'towards the gap', I think it's safe to assume both he and the Myrmidon will reach her next turn. We don't get accuracy data in this quest so it's hard to guess what the odds are, but I can't imagine that he does more damage than Lonato, so at the absolute worst he does 13 damage. Even assuming the absolute worst case at every point of failure (except crits...but we can't plan for that no matter what), Blair will survive a round if she takes a vulnerary and is healed by Elizabeth. Her reply attacks probably won't kill the archers but probably will put the Myrmidon in killing range for next round. The Javelin can't really hurt the Armored Knight with its measly 2 Mt, probably. >>4915136I don't think Blair is fast enough to be able to afford -2 SPD. That margin would have let Petra double her, so perhaps this Myrmidon or other fast enemies would have too.
>>4914285>A): Head to block off the Axe Fighter. If you don’t block that gap off soon, more enemies may begin pouring in.>Use a Vulnerary to restore 10 HP? (7 Left)>A) Yes
>>4915262I kinda like the idea of Blair yelling like a crazed maniac to scare the opponents, and with her Personal Skill it might just be a moment of bloodlust coming out, which she will explain to just being an intimidation tactic.
>>4914285>>4914314+1Def send corrine to deal with the new back door now that she's all healed up.
>>4914285>“Both of you go take care of that new opening! I’ll stay here!” You say to Corrine and Elizabeth.Corrine runs off to greet the Axe Fighter, while Elizabeth lags, sparing a worried glance your way before backing up the bloodthirsty girl. You duck behind the corner of the first hole, keeping a thick wall in between yourself and those two archers who have been trying to turn you into a pin cushion. Uncorking a Vulnerary, you pour the contents on the wound you received earlier, hissing through your teeth as the salve takes effect. (+10 HP, 28/29).Just as the last drop of salve comes out, the Myrmidon rushes through the door. Turning on a dime, he spins and tries to get the drop on you. His blade cuts through some of the padding on your left arm, but it’s clear that this boy was a victim of the recent bad harvest Elizabeth spoke of. His cheap blade and lack of strength barely causes you any harm. (-3 HP, 25/29.) You’re not sure what caused him to fall into this madness, but every ounce of your body is screaming to make him regret it.Lashing out with your foot, you plant a boot firmly in his midsection, knocking him back. In his staggered state, you slash your spear across his exposed throat, sending him to the ground to choke on his own blood. >30xp Gained, 85/100Just as soon as he falls, the Armored Knight that you saw earlier lumbers in through the gap, axe and shield firmly in his hands. Through the slit in his helmet, you can infer he wants nothing more than to spill your guts onto the floor. A sudden flash and explosion from behind him catches your attention. The Axe Fighter that Corrine fought is dead, however the girl’s armor and clothing appears to be scorched. Through the gap, you can see a man with his arms outstretched towards the girl. By his appearance and the air vibrating around him, you can tell he’s a Mage. Elizabeth heals through the damage that Corrine took, but it’s clear that she was struck hard by the attack. From behind you, Leopold and the others are pushing back against the enemy, who failed to get through their defensive line. And through it all, you can hear another wall in the back of the chapel splintering under an attack from the other side.>End of Turn 3>A): Try and rush passed the Armor Knight and back up Corrine against the enemy Mage. >B): Assault the Armor Knight first before he can move against you.>C): Try and rush passed the Armor Knight through the gap where the Archers were and attack them.>D): Try and block off the new hole that is currently being created from the outside.>E): Write-in

>>4917671>>B): Assault the Armor Knight first before he can move against you.Corrine has a healer so she can hold off for a while against a mage, we need to deal with the knight because he seems like the biggest threat, too bad our own mages are far away from us and can't help us against him...
>>4917671>E): Write-in>Ask for backup from one of the mage girls holding out the frontlineI'm not sure we can take an armor knight on our own, especially when there's more pressing matters awaiting us.
>>4917671We might have to circle the wagons here, if we stay this far from the main group any longer and they keep opening more pathways we'll be isolated and surrounded in no time. We probably can not 1v1 the Armor Knight unless we're lucky enough to dodge two attacks, while the shield will make him slow enough that we most likely do two attacks per combat cycle we don't have the neccessary oompf to punch through his armor, especially with the shield giving him extra defense. The Fog of War to the North is extra scarry and I don't want to leave Elizabeth and Corrine there. The suggestion is as follows: Corrine and Elizabeth gets the hell out of dodge this turn and attempts to regroup with the backline while we do a fighting retreat to keep the Armor Knight busy so he can't interfer with their retreat. This will put us in a position to get aid from our Magic Users next turn, and we can send either ourselves or Corrine to help Leopold hold the main frontline afterwards, while we take Annette or Ignatz with us to deal with whatever units arrive from the Northern breach. It'll also give Elizabeth the chance to heal up our man Raphael or Leopold if they been getting dunked on too much.
>>4918049If we lead the armor knight away what's stopping the archers from entering the church and causing havoc though? They have full access to all our squishy mages then.
>>4918236True, I based my suggestion of withdrawing with the Archers not moving in mind. They havn't moved yet, though that may be entierly due to the fact that we are still holding the doorway from cover, but them moving into the Church could potentially be good for us. If we can lure the Knight in range our Mages and they successfully kill him, we can counter-attack on the Archers afterwards when they have no frontline to stop us. Hopefully when the Knight falls they'll panic and try to pick us off before we get to them instead of going after our squishies. In the end I still think this is best given our current situation, even if the hypothetical next turn is based in some part on wishful thinking. We can not beat the Armor Knight on our own due to his overwhelming defense advantage, and if Corrine and Elizabeth remain to the north they run the risk of being encircled and killed. Withdrawing at least Corrine and Elizabeth is a must.
>>4917671ah, poor kid...lead astray to die for nothing in the blairblender : / making me regret Blair not trying to scare him off. >C): Try and rush passed the Armor Knight through the gap where the Archers were and attack them.I think Blair should clear out this threat and then loop around to attack the backline where Corinne is. I hate the idea of giving ground, and the mages are best positioned to deal with this man. And IMO as long as our friendly mages get a heads up, our own backline can dodge around him. He's weighed down a lot. Blair has the torch so we need to get to know what's going on up there, too. There are three more breakable entrances and three more turns and I expect at least one more of them to develop leaks. This team doesn't have enough members to be plugging leaks unless we clear them faster and more aggressively.
Oh, another thing I noticed: Ignatz was in front last turn, and now is behind. So he's likely getting healed and taking some time to use his bow, and the press at the front is less severe this most recent turn. It's possible that the front will let up a bit, allowing one of the mages to come help plug leaks.
>>4917671>B): Assault the Armor Knight first before he can move against you.Since Corrine has Elizabeth's heals she should be able the rout that mage. Hopefully we can bait the armor knight into range of our mages if we attack him. Also does Elizabeth have offensive spells or is she just a heal it?
>>4917671>>B): Assault the Armor Knight first before he can move against you.We can at least soften him up so he can be taken out by Annette later. Don't like the idea of leaving him unchecked or abandoning this area while the archers are still at large.
>>4917671>>>A): Try and rush passed the Armor Knight and back up Corrine against the enemy Mage.
>>4917671>C): Try and rush passed the Armor Knight through the gap where the Archers were and attack them. They're a menace, and the tank of man would only be tickled by Blair unless she crits. Better to make use of the fact that he's slow and slip past him. Just gotta be ready to slip back in
>>4917671(I'm back home. Updates should resume a little more timelier.)The Armor Knight is twice your size and looks none too pleased to see you, but you have no intention of circumventing him. You step towards the man and slash at his head with your spear. Despite swinging at him in full on battle rage, his helmet is made of good steel and protects him. The knight recoils from the attack, before throwing his arm back for a chop aimed directly at your skull. He’s bulky, but slow, and you’re able to step to the side, avoiding the attack completely. As a follow up, you jab your spear at his head again, denting the armor. From behind him, another flash of light catches your attention. Corrine has taken the brunt of another fireball. Staggering slightly, she charges the mage, who she manages to take to the ground in a tackle. The two of them struggle, but the last thing you see before the Armor Knight waddles back into view is the sight of Corrine holding the man down as her Axe chops towards his head. The Armor Knight attempts a swipe with his weapon, and while you’re able to block it, he follows up with an unexpected punch to your face, landing squarely on your noise. (-8 HP, 17/29)Ignoring the blood gushing down your face, you let loose a war cry and thrust your spear towards his head. Once again, the knight is too slow to dodge it, and this time your spearpoint manages to go straight through the helmet’s right eye-slit. The tormented cry you hear is your signal to push the spear deeper until the man’s thrashings and convulsions cease.>35xp gained! Fortunately, the dust provides you some cover from the Archers, who won’t be able to accurately shoot at you.Elizabeth is laying on her stomach, legs trapped underneath fallen rubble. As she spots you, she extends out a hand, pleading desperately towards you.“Blair…please.” She says, tears streaming down her face.Dropping your spear, you attempt to life the rubble off the woman. It’s heavy and takes all of your might to try and push over. As you start to gain ground, lifting the stone up a few inches, you almost drop it again in surprise when you see an Axe Fighter appear out of the smoke and head straight towards you. You brace yourself for death when the man’s march is interrupted by an axe slamming into his back. He screams in pain and swipes back, catching Corrine across the chest, and targeting her instead.Having been bought some time and with your adrenaline pumping, you exert yourself to the limit and push the debris off Elizabeth. She’s hurt badly and can barely stand but is already working at casting a healing spell on herself.“Blair! Elizabeth! We’re here, hold on!” You hear Mercedes yell from nearby. The smoke is clearing, and you feel a sudden surge of energy as Mercedes casts Heal on you. (29/29 HP). To your side, you can see Ignatz firing at the two Archers that have been pestering you. You still hear fighting from the front of the cathedral, but it looks like most of the enemy has been fought off.In front of you, it looks like Corrine has finished off her enemy. She looks an absolute horror, covered in blood from head to toe, much of which is hers. She staggers towards your group, somehow managing a grin.“You owe me one, Blair.” She giggles. From the other side, you hear a large section of the wall smash, and you pick up your spear. Standing in the new entrance is a soldier, and a man dressed in robes. Dark magic swirls around him, and you quickly gather that he single-handedly blasted through the wall. He speaks towards your group, and you recognize his voice as the man that riled up the crowd.“Still standing? Useless peasants. >>4922026I dunno about you, but I feel like completely lacking human empathy, and wiping your shoe off on a dead mother's corpse goes beyond having a little off color tastes
>>4921650>B): Corrine and Elizabeth aren’t in top shape, and this man is clearly dangerous. We should reunite with Leopold.>>4922377Sometimes you have to take the friends you can get. She seems to be plenty reliable despite those tendencies.
>>4921650If this man truly is the source of tonight’s misery, then you have no intention of letting him waltz out of here alive. As a spellcaster, he’ll likely try and obliterate you from afar. Fortunately, though, you still have your javelins, which will allow you to counterattack.>“Back me up, Mercedes. Elizabeth, Corrine, you two stay put and recover from your wounds.”“Playing the hero, are we? Fine…I won’t complain.” Winces Corrine.“I’ll protect you, Blair!” Says Mercedes. You move towards the direction of the Dark Mage, Javelins equipped and ready to skewer the man.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKzd28mlqGU&ab_channel=zelosq“You don’t look old enough to wield that weapon, girl. I swear, Rhea’s little monsters get younger every year!”>”The only monster here is you! You tricked these people into attacking us!”“Impudent wench! All I did was enlighten them as to the true nature of your Central Church. Once they’d learned the truth, is it no wonder they’d rise up against their oppressors?!”>”Liar! I heard the same thing back in Gaspard, who are you people working for?”“No need to concern yourself with that, you’ll be answering to your Goddess in just moments!”As dark magic begin to swirl around the man, you flourish your Javelin and aim directly at him. The first javelin sails true and embeds itself in the man’s shoulder. (7 Damage). The mage cries out, but remains steadfast in channeling his dark magic. “Banshee!”Orbs of dark magic appear around you, swarming faster and faster until they collide directly with your body. The attack is devastating, threatening to break every bone in your body. You suddenly feel chilled to the bone. The dark magic makes you feel as if your very blood is freezing solid. (-16 HP, Movement reduced by half.)You find it hard to move and control your body, and you’re clenching your teeth so hard you think they may shatter. You force your arms to grab another of your Javelins, and you toss it again at the mage, this time with more rage behind it. The spear sails true and embeds itself into the man’s chest (11 Damage). He’s thrown back by the attack, but is still standing, screaming bloody murder as he rips the spear out of body.>20xp gained!
>>4922682Your wounds begin to suddenly close and heal as Mercedes casts her healing magic on you. You’re still feeling the biting cold of the mage’s magic, but at least the pain has subsided. (26/29 HP)The soldier that was in front of you brandishes his spear and charges forward. As he approaches you, he cuts to the right at the last second, avoiding you and aiming straight for Mercedes. He extends his spear out and stabs the girl, managing to catch her with a brutal blow to her upper thigh. Mercedes screams, falling to the ground, with the soldier looming over her. (12/24 HP)The mage is staggering, and it appears he’s had enough, as he’s currently looking to back out through the hole that he had made. Your body is still chilled so you’d be unable to pursue him, but you should be able to finish him off with a Javelin from this distance.Doing so however, may put Mercedes at risk of the soldier standing over her.>A): That mage is too dangerous to be left alive. Strike him down now before he’s able to sow more discord.>B): Mercedes is in trouble, and you can’t tell if Corrine would be able to make it in time to save her. Attack the soldier!>C): Write-in
>>4922686>B): Mercedes is in trouble, and you can’t tell if Corrine would be able to make it in time to save her. Attack the soldier!Yeah he's literally about the strike the killing blow, even if Corrine wasn't badly injuried I doubt she'd make it in time. And Blair isn't the type of girl to let one of her fellow be struck down right infront of her.
>>4922686>>B): Mercedes is in trouble, and you can’t tell if Corrine would be able to make it in time to save her. Attack the soldier!

>>4922686>B): Mercedes is in trouble, and you can’t tell if Corrine would be able to make it in time to save her. Attack the soldier!Annette will never forgive us if we let Merci die here.

>>4922686>>A): That mage is too dangerous to be left alive. Strike him down now before he’s able to sow more discord.
>>4922686I want to take him down in case he might be carrying info on him, and Corrinne *might* be able to make it in time... but I don't think I'm willing to risk it. There's probably more of the dark mage preachers out there anyway so >B): Mercedes is in trouble, and you can’t tell if Corrine would be able to make it in time to save her. Attack the soldier! Also just noticed that there's been two Annettes for the last two updates. She must've developed some kind of mirror image spell with some of the other mages.
>>4922686>>B): Mercedes is in trouble, and you can’t tell if Corrine would be able to make it in time to save her. Attack the soldier!Man, I can't let Mercedes die, maybe we will meet the dark mage again some day.
>>4922377Well she didn't know the woman was a mother but... Yeah still a bit fucked to rub your foot on a dead corpse, but i'm sure we can make her rub her foot on actually scummy peoples corpses in the future
Corrine has specifically claimed that she used to be just like Blair, but decided that she would rather act this way. She could either feel terrible about killing people, or she could stop beating herself up and have fun in doing so. Can't say I agree with her choice, but it could just be a coping mechanism rather than them completely lacking in human empathy.
>>4922686>B): Mercedes is in trouble, and you can’t tell if Corrine would be able to make it in time to save her. Attack the soldier! Who does this guy think he is, comitting war crimes when he's more generic than even Blair.
>>4922686>>A): That mage is too dangerous to be left alive. Strike him down now before he’s able to sow more discord.Mercedes' personal skill will heal her, and she cast before the soldier moved last turn, so I imagine she will again.
>>4922686You grit your teeth as you watch the dark mage turning tail. As much as you’d love to skewer him for his part in tonight’s ongoings, you wouldn’t be able to live with yourself if you let your thirst for vengeance lead to Mercedes’ death. Turning swiftly, you switch to your Iron Spear. As the enemy soldier raises his own spear to finish off the downed girl, he looks down to find your own spear plunged through his chest. Heaving the man up with all your might, you slam him back on the ground. For good measure, you twist the spear.>35xp gained! (70/100xp).“B-Blair!” Says Mercedes with some shock. Whether she’s surprised at your brutality or that you chose to save her rather than finish off the dark mage, you’re unsure. From up ahead, you hear Raphael jovially yelling.“They’re running away! This time for good!”You extend a hand to Mercedes, who has finished healing her leg, and graciously takes it. She’s standing shakily and looks as if she may fall again at any minute.“Sorry Blair, I guess I’m a bit clumsy at the moment.” She gives you a weak smile.>You shake your head. “I’m sorry, this is my fault. I should have stopped him…”“Nonsense! If it wasn’t for you, I’d be mincemeat right now! You saved my life, Blair. I’ll never forget that.” Mercedes squeezes your hand, and leans on your shoulder for support, wobbly.>You gained a C-Support with Mercedes!Keeping the girl up, you walk towards the middle of the chapel. Corrine mirrors you, carrying an injured Elizabeth on her back.“You got your own damsel as well, Blair? What a fortuitous night this has been!” Corrine laughs. From behind her, Ignatz hobbles into view. It appears he was able to single-handedly take care of both archers on his own, though he looks worse for it.“Please Miss Corrine, I’m not sure now is the time for jests…” Says Elizabeth, from the girl’s back.
>>4924938“Is everyone alright?” Asks Leopold, returning to the center of the church with Annette and Raphael. From behind him, you can see the tell-tale signs of dawn approaching. Despite how grim things looked, you all somehow managed to survive the night.>“Elizabeth and Mercedes are a little worse for wear, but we’re all alive.”“That man in the robes, the one that was leading this group. Did you see where he went?”>You shake your head. “I’m sorry Sir Leopold, I had managed to injure him, but he…escaped before I could deal the finishing blow.”“Escaped?!” Shouts Leopold.“It’s not her fault, my lord!” Interjects Mercedes. “I made a careless blunder, and Blair was forced to save me.”Leopold looks visibly frustrated but takes a deep sigh. “If that is true, you did the right thing, Blair. Saving your comrade’s life is nothing to apologize for. You all performed above and beyond your duties tonight. I’m proud to have been your commander.” “Sir Leopold.” Says Elizabeth, still being carried by Corrine. “If I may…while I recognized some of these men as inhabitants of the village, I must confess that many more of these faces elude me.Ignatz pipes up. “That makes sense. I doubt that normal everyday villagers would have access to a ballista.”“There’s the matter of their coordination as well.” Says Corrine. “They knew which walls to break down and were attempting their best to flank us. Yes, I suspect we weren’t gutting defenseless peasants here tonight.”“Blair.” Leopold address you. “You faced down their leader. Did he give you any indication as to who these men may have belonged to?”>You shake your head. “He seemed to be a believer in the Goddess, though he had an issue with the Archbishop. The knight scoffs. “That certainly narrows it down. In any case, dawn is here. We should leave now before any more of them arrive. Raphael, grab Mercedes from Blair. You’ll be able to carry her easier.”The group moves to depart the ruined chapel. As you transfer the girl over to the muscular blonde, you catch something in the corner of your eye. A flash of gleaming metal is wrapped around the last soldier’s neck. Inspecting it closer, you’re able to decipher it as a silver necklace depicting the symbol of Seiros. It’s a rather ornate piece, and you’re not sure how this man managed to afford such a thing. Though it bares the symbol of Seiros, something about it seems remarkably different from the symbols that you consistently see at Garreg Mach…>A): Pocket the necklace. It’s not as though this man will require it any further, and you’re confident you’d be able to sell it for quite a bit of gold back at the Monastery.>B): Grab the necklace and show it to Leopold. Something about it seems quite off. Perhaps it may be a clue to the identity of these men?>C): Leave it on the man’s corpse. You have no intention of desecrating the dead.
>>4924938That image is supposed to be named Chapter 4(Final) but I'm not going through two layers of captcha hell to fix that.Congratulations on surviving the night! For the record, Mercedes wouldn't have been able to go first. She was immobilized from the soldier's attack. If you attacked Fritz, she'd be dead right now for good. I hope the lack of boss experience was worth it
>>4924940>B): Grab the necklace and show it to Leopold. Something about it seems quite off. Perhaps it may be a clue to the identity of these men?If it doesn't help in identifying the culprits behind this attack and Leopold doesn't confiscate it we'll just put it back where we found it, stealing from the dead is not very Knightly.>>4924943>For the record, Mercedes wouldn't have been able to go first. She was immobilized from the soldier's attack. If you attacked Fritz, she'd be dead right now for good.>Permadeath confirmedOh boy, hopefully Anons will be less inclined to do suicidal charges through enemy lines now.>I hope the lack of boss experience was worth itAnything is worth it as long as we wouldn't have had to pull an emotionally broken Annette away from Mercedes corpse.
>>4924940>A): Pocket the necklace. It’s not as though this man will require it any further, and you’re confident you’d be able to sell it for quite a bit of gold back at the Monastery.I don't want to pocket the thing because I want the money but because I kinda want to do research on it on our own, might seem bad not to give it to Leopold now but something just makes me want to keep it a secret for now.
>>4924940>>B): Grab the necklace and show it to Leopold. Something about it seems quite off. Perhaps it may be a clue to the identity of these men?

>>4924940>>B): Grab the necklace and show it to Leopold. Something about it seems quite off. Perhaps it may be a clue to the identity of these men? It's not like we couldn't research it on our own, but I'd rather not waste what little free time we have when someone else can take care of it. Glad we made the right decision for Mercedes....
>>4924940>A): Pocket the necklace. It’s not as though this man will require it any further, and you’re confident you’d be able to sell it for quite a bit of gold back at the Monastery.

Also way to go Ignatz for coming out on top in a 2 vs 1 with those archers he's going to be so fucking annoying to deal with during war phase when Blair's a flier goddamnAre we getting another interaction phase while we travel back or it's that it?
>>4925112If he hurts our pegasus then no amount of arrows will save him.
>>4924940>B): Grab the necklace and show it to Leopold. Something about it seems quite off. Perhaps it may be a clue to the identity of these men?On the wagon I hop>>4924943>SpoilerI'd say not letting the arguably best healer in the game die is a good trade-off... oh, and not having to deal with an Annette blaming Blair for Mercie's death (and Blair possibly agreeing) is big plus. Also good to know we're playing on classic and not casual.
>>4925483I completely forgot 3H even had a casual mode, isn't that what divine pulse is for?
>>4924940>>A): Pocket the necklace. It’s not as though this man will require it any further, and you’re confident you’d be able to sell it for quite a bit of gold back at the Monastery.
>>4924940Believing that the necklace may offer some sort of clue as to the identity of these men, you get over your revulsion of looting a corpse and pilfer the item. You run up to Sir Leopold and grab his attention.>“Sir, I found this rosary around one of these soldier’s necks. It looks the rosaries that I’ve seen the pilgrims at Garreg Mach wearing, but…somehow different.”The knight grabs the item from you, holding it close to his face to inspect it, and squinting his eyes. Leopold stares at the rosary for a few seconds before speaking.“This is…the symbol of the Western Orthodox Church of Seiros! But why would a Western Church soldier be here? Tauros Village isn’t anywhere near their territory. Unless…” Leopold trails off. “This will need to be reported to Seneschal Seteth and the Archbishop. Excellent work finding this, Blair.”You and the rest of the group finish packing your belongings and make to leave the chapel now that the sun is up. The carnage left in your wake is devastating. Bodies lay out in the rising sun, and the ballista that caused you so much misery is now unmanned. As you’re walking back through the village, you notice that it’s devoid of life. Every house and dwelling that you pass is bolted and shuttered, and no one bids you farewell. Through some windows, you can see peering eyes staring at you behind their curtains. When you first arrived, many of those eyes looked at you with open hostility, but now all you see is fear. While the original trip to Tauros Village took only two days, Elizabeth and Mercedes are still limping from the injuries they received during the night’s events. As a result, your return trip is expected to be extended by at least another two days, causing your group to completely miss the Rite of Rebirth festival. The mood in your camp is rather dour. While everyone is glad to have survived, the events in Tauros Village have certainly left their mark. Conversation is very sparce for much of the return trip back to the monastery. Three days into your trip, you decide to speak to one of your comrades to try and lighten the mood.>A): You and Corrine had each other’s back that night, and she saved you more than once. Maybe she’s not as bad as she seems.>B): Mercedes was pretty disappointed to find out she’d be missing the festival this year. A friendly chat may help.>C): Leopold seems to have warmed up to you after proving yourself. Speaking with him may be enlightening.>D): Elizabeth must be going through a lot emotionally after being run out of her own village. Let’s speak with her.>E): You haven’t really had a chance to speak to Raphael, Ignatz or Annette this trip. (Choose one to speak to.)
>>4926325>A): You and Corrine had each other’s back that night, and she saved you more than once. Maybe she’s not as bad as she seems.Even if we don't like her much, she was tremendous help, and we fought alongside her quite well. Let's offer our thanks to her.
>>4926325>>B): Mercedes was pretty disappointed to find out she’d be missing the festival this year. A friendly chat may help.
>>4926325>A): You and Corrine had each other’s back that night, and she saved you more than once. Maybe she’s not as bad as she seems.Shit was wack right? Anyway I do want to finally hang out with her, people say she's insane and cruel so we should not but being friends with a nutjob is way better then not being. also she's cool.
>>4926325>E): You haven’t really had a chance to speak to Raphael, Ignatz or Annette this trip>AnnetteI want to how how she's coping after her best friend was nearly killed. We can also ask her for black magic tips since we're probably going to focus on it these next few months thanks to dark flier.

>>4926674>In to the church folkBut that's Elizabeth though. Also we're getting Flayn in a few months who's a way better in than anyone here
>>4926692But think of it like this, what if we can accompany this dude when he makes his report, so we can closer to them earlier. Besides, I'm sure Blair could be curious about what conclusion the knight has about the incident and our evidence.

>>4926325>C): Leopold seems to have warmed up to you after proving yourself. Speaking with him may be enlightening.Lets see what our boss has to say now that he's no longer being completely insufferable to us. Maybe we can ask him what conclusion he drew when he saw the necklace.
Corinnebros, when will we get our turn....
>>4926325>D): Elizabeth must be going through a lot emotionally after being run out of her own village. Let’s speak with her.
>>4927084Some day we will touch the crazy, fellow man of taste
>>4926325>A): You and Corrine had each other’s back that night, and she saved you more than once. Maybe she’s not as bad as she seems.
>>4927084We have to be patient brother, eventually our time will come.
>>4926325You decide that you will speak with the veteran knight. You were initially under the impression that Leopold would prove to be a difficult person to work under after your awkward introduction, but the way that he took command of what seemed like an utterly hopeless situation has deeply impressed you. You find the man, sitting furthest away from everyone at the campfire, still inspecting the rosary that you found on the soldier you killed. As you approach him, the man doesn’t even acknowledge your presence until you speak up.>“Sir Leopold, it sounded like you had some suspicions on why the Western Church had soldiers here.”Leopold finally takes his eyes off the necklace to address you. Flowing blonde locks and chiseled features paints the perfect picture of knightlihood. You don’t find it hard to imagine that many maidens back at the monastery would be entranced by his clearly attractive face, though they’d likely never suspect what an absolute terror he could be.“Yes…the Western Branch has never made it a secret how much they oppose the Central Church. Both sects are fundamentally similar. We both worship the Goddess Seiros. They even have their own branch of Holy Knights. However, they don’t believe that the authority the Archbishop wields is by divine right. The Western Church rules instead by a council of selected high priests. The worst of these demagogues is the High Priest, Bennett. He wields the most influence among those priests, and as such, he’s always been the most vocal against the Archbishop.”Leopold pockets the rosary into his satchel. “He’s a proper bastard, that Bennett, but does he really have it in him to stir up such unrest like what we witnessed a few days ago? Or at Gaspard?”You mind races back to those peasants that were ready to throw down their lives for Lonato. The timing of both these incidents seems unlikely to just be a coincidence. It seems fate has picked an interesting time for you to be enrolled at the academy.“In any case, a full-on investigation of these events will have to be carried out by the Knights of Seiros. Heed no mind to my musings.”>“I understand, Sir. If I may, I was most impressed by your ability to bring order to the battlefield.“Save your praise, I only did what was expected of a Knight of Seiros. The praise should be for you cadets. Tell me Blair, why are you at Garreg Mach?”“I was sent here by my adopted father, a noble of the Empire. He wished me to earn myself a knighthood.”
>>4928760“He must think highly of you if he’d send a lowly baseborn girl to the most expensive institution on the continent. Allow me to speak to you earnestly, Blair. I absolutely detest the Officer’s Academy. I believe it to be a rotten institution. Noble families from all over Fodlan send their second or third born children here to learn how to wage war against each other. They lavish them in the finest armor and equipment that their gold can buy, all so that they can more efficiently slay some conscript wearing a chamber pot for a helmet with as little risk as possible.”Leopold does not avert his gaze as he’s speaking to you. It’s an intense stare, and part of you almost wishes to back down. You can plainly sense the passion behind the man’s voice as he continues speaking.“You’ll learn some fancy tactics lesson from that mercenary professor of yours, maybe gain a new skill or two here or there. But you’ll always be behind your peers. You lack a Crest. You lack noble blood, and most of all, you lack presence. We’ll be approaching the fifth month of the year, the near halfway point of the school year, and you’ve yet to be appointed as a junior officer, correct? Did you know that you’re the only one here who hasn’t? Your friend Corrine turned down the position when initially offered, but the other four are all junior officers of their respective houses. That much I was told when it was made clear who would be accompanying me to Tauros Village.”>You can feel the blood rushing to your cheeks. Whether it’s embarrassment or anger, you aren’t sure. You avoid saying anything that could be held against you. “I’m…working on it. This month I intend to achieve the position.”Leopold smirks. “Though you try to hide it, your discomfort is plain. I don’t say this to mock you, Blair. Merely to state facts. Those professors always gravitate to the strongest, most capable students. But after what I witnessed a few days ago, I believe you have that potential. I detest working with cadets, but I suppose you’ve earned a soft spot. When we get back to the monastery, I’d be happy to personally train you.”>That catches you by surprise. “Sir?” “You may accept the offer or not, and you don’t need to answer here. I won’t be insulted either way. But I believe that training under a Veteran Knight of Seiros may be considered a rare honor amongst your kind. Do with that as you will.”At that Leopold gets up from the log he was sitting on, and goes to attend to his horse, who miraculously escaped injuries the night of the battle.>You gain a C-Support with Leopold! You head back to the campfire to find that the group is currently in the middle of a lively discussion about the foods they’ll enjoy when they return to the monastery’s mess hall. At the very least, it looks like morale is heading back up. You retire to your bedroll. Tomorrow, you’ll be back at the monastery.>End of Chapter 4
>>4928765This update is already pretty long and the thread is nearing pruning. The next prompt would be choosing which skills we'll be focusing on next month, but I still have some writing to do and I'd rather not do an important decision like that when the thread is almost dead, so we'll pick up in the next thread (which will be on Saturday.)Thanks for playing! The thread is already archived. On another note, this thread was a bit shorter, at 455 posts as of this update, but had over 116 IPs. That's a pretty crazy amount compared to some other threads and the participation I've seen. I appreciate the support and participation, but I really hope no one is being a samefriend!I'll stick around in this thread to answer any questions/discussion, but otherwise, next update is Saturday. See you then!

Leopold was an ass for sure but I'm glad to see him pick up some characterization! I'm down to spend some time learning from him, if other anons are. He may not be a flier but I think he'll teach Blair some Authority and to be less of an NPC for sure. Weapons skills, maybe as well, but maybe not. Also Blair's examination of his face was cute.Maybe if she had more Authority we would have had more control over the flow of the most recent battle, beyond Blair's own position and priorities? Not sure.
>and most of all, you lack presenceBlair will never escape being called plain. Self esteem is absolutely dumpstered, hopefully Ashe can fix that.
