High King Daedricbearer, whose great grandfather had united Humanity against the Orcish hordes. His father, Foric Grudgebearer, had died resulting in the end of the old era. The times of what was not realized to have been peace was gone as the bells tolled twice. A Dark Lord had been chosen, a Dark Lord who threatens to tear the entire world asunder.

>Normally here I would say something like, ‘be kind’, but this is 4chan so I won't even bother making it a rule.
>Don’t be afraid to discuss things, just remember that there are some limitations thanks to both culture and technology. Hell, you guys could discuss whether it's better to make a Holy Roman Empire Electoral System or just go Partition.

Alright, time to get started.
>>
The day had come, Daedric knew, as he listened to the bells toll. He knew no men were tending to the bells, thus this was but a mystical action that only his mother would know of.

The man shook his head as he looked upon his gathered brothers. Many of them were confused or angered at the letters that Daedric had sent them. These letters of course contained the message that he wanted all his brothers to know.

“Upon this hour our father has died.” Daedric announced as he looked upon his brothers, “He has failed to kill a Dragon within the mountains.”

The second oldest, Helric, gave a nod towards his brother, “So he has. Hard to believe he had died.”

“...” The youngest looked towards Daedric with a glare, “So, you claim a Dark Lord is coming?”

“Do you find my words hard to believe Juric?” The High King asked his brother, “I can guarantee you that the words I placed within that letter were true to a fault.”

“Yeah, Juric, why does your tongue have such venom within it.” Helric asked his brother as he straightened his back, “You know what tales our father told us.”

“I do, and I believe them.” Juric said while walking towards the oldest, “But we still need to figure out inheritance, do we not?”

“Right now? War is right around the corner!” Daedric almost ordered. Still, even Helric stood silent as he knew now was the time to distribute wealth.

“We shall divide it up evenly.” Juric announced his intentions as he made a few steps forward, “We are all sons of Foric, and while there is only one crown we can all assume new posts as dukes.”

Helric was debating in his mind as he looked upon his brother with anguish. Obviously this man wanted what was best, but he was not going to damn himself by suggesting something else.

It was up to Daedric to make his decision.

That would be bad, we don't have new lands to give at all. If we keep cutting lands from the high king personal domain, our future kings are going to have even less to rule that is actually under their full control.
Is better to modify the type of succession, and do new conquests south and east.

“Juric, I understand that you wish for more lands.” Daedric began with a firmness in his voice, “However even Alaric realized that these lands need to stay united, meaning I must hold at the very least all lands under my immediate sway.”

The man looked at Daedric with sharped eyes, however it was Helric who spoke, “You speak soundly, brother, but as always we need a little more than that to accept your rule like that.”

“Then I will grant the two of you positions within the court.” The High King declared, “Helric I shall declare you Marshal of the armies while Juric becomes my steward.”

“I can accept that.” The man agreed with a smile, “What about you Juric?”

His brother seemed to mull over the details for a moment as he slowly gave a nod, “As long as you agree not to remove us for our lifetimes, that will be fine by me.”

“I can easily do that. You just need to remember that you have a job and you need to do it.”

With that done, the sons got to work dividing the territory. For the most part the territory was divided between what remaining lands were outside of Daedric’s immediate area. To the sadness of at least Juric they were stuck with the land as shown.

“Alright, now is the time to start our defence.” Daedric announced as the land was finally cut up, “Brothers, the darkness is upon us. Our Father died trying to stop it but because he failed we must carry the burden.”

The other two nodded as the weight of the situation was finally settling on their shoulders.

“It is probably best if we take over parts of the Kingdom.” Daedric announced as he looked over the map before him, “From what I can see there are really three things we need to cover.”

“Gathering forces, defending the capital, and the front lines.” Juric correctly stated without much effort.

“I think it would be best if I go towards the front lines.” Daedric told his brothers, “I have been trained in combat, thus along with Fortage I will slaughter all who stand before me.”

“That is sound, brother.” Helric answered back while hitting his brother in the chest, “I will take care of the recruitment, for what else is a Marshal to do?”

Juric got up from the table with a firmness in his gaze, “Then that leaves the Capital’s defence to me.”

“I trust you in this brother.” Daedric walked over and placed his hands upon the other’s shoulders, “If you fail here than we might as well declare the Kingdom itself dead.”

“Thank you, Daedric.” Juric gave him a smile of reassurance, “I will make sure the supplies make it to the front lines.”

“Alright then men, at this moment we prepare for war. Already I can hear the battle for the Mountain Gap ringing in my ears!” Daedric declared as he made his way out, “For our father, Foric Grudgebearer!”

With those words Dardric made his way towards the road with a small entourage of men. It was only when he was about to leave that he noticed a Ragoo making its way towards him. He felt his heart drop a little as he welcomed the beast into his arms.

“So it is true.” The High King said while patting the beast upon its snout, “You did all you can Byk. I ask you though to take me to battle now.”

The beast rumbled a little before nodding. With a swift motion Daedric was upon the beast’s back with vigour in his step.

It was a lengthy time to travel towards the Mountain Gap Bastion. His men would of course let out their frustrations at an overbearing lord during this trip. However that was but jokes of mutiny to relieve their minds of what was to come.

Daedric did not hold anything away from his men. They all knew they were going to face a most foul enemy when they arrive. Many within his cohort wondered if they would even make it in time to save the fortress from what was thought to be certain doom.

Crossing through villages the people within them looked at the knights with a sense of confusion and wonder. Even in the days of Alaric was such a large grouping of men rare with only the High King’s noble band of tribes making the sheer volume possible.

The High King of today however had been working on this, as well as the numerous roads that they had been employing. Made from cobblestone the men of Daedric could walk double the distance within a single day against just walking through the grass.

It was thanks to this time that they finally arrived at the Bastion in only a few days instead of weeks. However what Daedric saw caused his heart to drop.

Black smoke rose itself into the air as the cries of man and beast could be heard throughout the world. Rushing over with his men the High King saw a Fortress not only under siege but fighting for every speck of life that it was capable of.

Men were on the walls rushing to knock down the numerous ladders that were attempting to dock on the walls. Mounds of miss aimed rocks were tossed over the wall and almost slamming themselves into the army that Daedric had quickly assembled.

He needed to be quick to grant them decisive aid, how to though?

“To the gates men to the gates!” Daedric shouted at the top of his lungs while directing his forces towards the location.

With a motion much faster than before, the men under Daedric charged towards the gates with impunity. The forces who were already there gave cheers as the army arrived with in the nick of time.

And it was the nick of time, as when men arrived the gate itsemf exploded off its hinges to reveal a truly terrifying being.

It had the face of a man looking bored. Even with a man’s face the being was much taller than anything Daedric had ever seen before. Not only that, but it was probably the fatest thing that the High King had ever seen. Combined with its size and a club that was the stump of a tree, and such a being was clearly the battering ram of this army.

“GRAAAAAH!!!” It screamed before bringing its massive club down upon those men unlucky enough to have been next to the creature. Bodies went flying as a literal earthquake occured right underneath the feet of the warriors.

“Arrows men arrows!” Daedric shouted as the creature was so large it was impossible to miss.

With a call nearly a hundred arrows were let loose by the archers within the armed forces. However with every arrow that slammed into the giant none of them were able to gain a mortal wound. They were throwing what could be called splinters at the beast without causing the damage Daedric wanted.

Just as they were peppering the giant though numerous creatures came rolling in through the gate. Small and green these creatures were not even close to humanoid poured in and started stabbing up the men who were holding back the tide. They were similar to the Orcs of legend, but these beings were so much more devilish and brutal that Daedric was surprised.

The sickening display of monsters tearing through the forces of men caused Daedric’s stomach to turn as he drew Fortage. He had heard of the stories from his father, and from them Daedric was able to figure out the truth about Fortage and its power.

It drew power from the sheer will and desire for revenge. The more you placed into the blade the more powerful it was.

A perfect weapon to spite your greatest enemy with.

“Men, rain arrows and kill those green fucks!” The High King declared with Authority, “Those Giants are mine!”

With fire in his stomach the King charged towards the herd of monsters. From behind him numerous arrows were sent raining upon the damnable midgets indiscriminately. Numerous bodies from both sides were falling as Daedric arrived upon the scene.

Before, none of High King were truly trained in the art of both the sword and of war.

Alaric, in all of his greatness, was only a tribal man whose sheer power was enough to bring about change in the world.

Theoric was an average man who drove away armies and defeated a small city-state, however he could not tap into the power of Fortage as well as his Father.

Foric defeated a champion of destruction as well as a demon, discovering the secrets that lay within the sword but never had a chance to learn and exercise his skill.

Daedric however, the Fourth High King of Mankind, was raised by Dwarfs who remembered fighting for centuries. Their skills heated through numerous skirmishes against fort-ending threats, tempered through the experience in the times of Alaric, and hardened in the battle against the damned elves. These skills were passed down to Daedric when he was at the age of only eight.

Add to that a mind tempered by not only a Grand Sorcerer but a spirit clutched by the inspiring tales of his Father, well, Daedric Grudgebearer was the pinnacle of mankind.

And with that petegree, it made sense that the High King sliced through the small Goblins like butter. His blade white hot with the anger that these bastards not only led to his father’s death, but attacked during the time mankind was at their weakest! Nearly three dozen on the little creatures were killed as the High King arrived before the Giant with a fury within his heart.

“HAAAAAA!”

With a roar that quaked the earth the High King brought about his sword and slammed it into the fleshy legs of the Giant. Unlike the arrows that held little weight behind them, a man full of muscle and fury was enough to not only draw blood, but remove the foot at the ankle!

Eyes wide the Giant was brought down to the floor with an earth shattering slam. Within moments the High King quickly brought himself about and sliced the head clear off the monster’s shoulders.

And like that the tides of battle were starting to change.

“CHARGE MY MEN CHARGE!” Daedric announced to all souls in the area, “These fools have brought themselves to bare against us, as shall show them no quarter!”

To those words the men who stood behind Daedric shouted with might and advanced forward. With the Goblins softened by the High King they were easily slaughtered by the freshly arrived troops. Soon their clothing and armor was covered in the bloodied guts of their enemies as they walked upon the laid corpses.

With every slice of the blade Daedric removed three heads of each green fucker. While not as many as he would have hoped, it was only because the numerous smaller ones were fleeing upon sight of the High King now.

It was when the first few started to run away that the rest followed suit.

An avalanche of fleeing monsters cleared the way for the gates that had fallen. The High King however did not stop there and pressed on with righteous fury. To the will of the King the numerous men followed with glee and laughter.

The gates were breached, this time by Daedric and his brothers in arms. To say that the rest of the enemy not expecting it was a great understatement. Within moments the High King started the slaughter of the numerous lesser green monsters.

However now there were plenty more monsters for him to face. Being who were taller than the green buggers and also brown turned about to see the High King. They barked orders and slaughtered any of the green creatures that they threw at the High King.

It did not matter for their lives were forfeit. Daedric removed their heads before the entire army without any remorse within his heart.

It was only when the man felt the earth shaking under his boots did he turn to acknowledge the newest being in front of him. This one was not nearly as large as the Giants, but towered for the High King nonetheless. With a devilish smirk it laughed.

“AHahaha! The High King comes straight into my hands.” The ugly creature said while brandishing a nasty looking sword, “The Dukes shall reward me well to bring your head.”

“I will cut you down to size so that not even rats will feed upon your corpse!” Daedric yelled as he started running towards the monster.

“Ha, come at me High King Daedric!” The monster announced as he started his own return charge.

The moment of contact gave the High King the first strike against the leading monster. Even with his fury that could cut through steel the creature was able to parry and block each and every blow with his blade.

Three blows he received, all but one were blocked. The last one, the third, was still able to run a nasty scar across Daedric’s chest and cause the monster to clutch in pain.

Now it was its turn, returning a variety of strikes toward Daedric. There were three of them, all of which were parried but at heavy cost to Daedric’s arms. Maybe if he was just that tiny bit stronger than he would be able to overpower the monster.

Still, it did not mean he was lacking.

“Die fiend!”

With a spark of Anger Daedric double downed against the monster. This time three strikes were made, two of them making it through its defences at the High King skillfully diverted from the chest to the legs.

Blood rained like a fountain as Daedric got the first good strike in. For the monster itself he had lost balance and fell forward onto his blade for support.

“Die!” Daedric declared as he cut the head from the body.

He took a breather there, feeling his body burn as he looked upon the fallen corpse of the creature. It might have been a minute, which was too much time in a battle like this so he began to leave.

It was at that point that instinct kicked in and the High King dodged a sweep attack at his legs.

Looking back over he saw the creature picking up his own head and placing it upon his headless stump. There was a gleeful smile as he laughed, “You think it would be that easy, High King!? I shall not be made low like a simple giant!”

“You think coming back from death is enough to scare me off.” Daedric told the bastard with a sneer, “You would be wrong. We will cut your hide and destroy your very body!”

“HAHA! Lets see you try!” And with that the two of them went at it again.

The monster kept throwing around his sword in the direction of Daedric, the High King dodging what was essentially a club in the form of a sword. Every dodge he succeeded that was enough to anger the monstrous creature.

For each strike the monster delivered Daedric returned ten fold. However unlike before the monster was much more willing to take blow after blow if it meant his enemy was close enough to do a perfect counter attack.

The High King did not let that happen however, knowing that one slip up would mean his death against this creature.

As blood of this monstrous being rained upon him Daedric knew exactly what he should do. For if the blade cannot hurt this creature surely, “Men, grab the torches and brun this creature alive!”

The monster’s eyes quickly widened as within moments torches of all kind were thrown at it. It tried to get away but a quickly slice of the wrist by Daedric the entire ankle of the monster was obliterated. The impact upon the earth was satisfying as he watched it ignite with fire.

It did not even get a chance to scream as Daedric stabbed its brain soon after.

Daedric looked around for a moment and watched as the numerous abominations began to flee from the battlefield. Some of those human sized fucks tried to keep their tiny bastards in check, but the monsters simply gave up after executing the fifth one.

There was of course still plenty of fighting still going on. However the High King needed to find the poor fellow who was left in charge of this place.

He traveled through the broken gates that men were readily repairing. Within only a few minutes they were once again upon their hinges and slowly being fitted right back into place. If Daedric had to guess those men must have had a great sense of pride in doing something so well so fast.

He took a few minutes to look around for the Duke, looking for someone who was calling out orders across the battlefield. The moment Daedric heard wailing and noticed a large crowed of men did his heart drop just that little bit.

He had a pretty good guess on what he was about to find out here.

“Damn them all!” Shouted what the High King noted was from a young boy. Those who were surrounding the wailing parted as they noticed the High King approaching them. There were several emotions upon these men’s faces as he passed them. When Daedric saw the reason why he knew them correct.

Before him in the center of the battle was just the upper body of a corpse. The face was that of a man who did not expect to die such a sudden death against what Daedric guessed was the powerful arm of that demonic lord. Above him was a boy who looked only old enough to drink a good amount of mead.

Daedric had of course been educated in the bloodline of the Bales. Butch Bale’s son was mysteriously dead after an accident involving a few rafters. The man had tried his best to find out what happened, but it was almost like the gods themselves wanted him dead.

His only son left him a son, the young Duke Burg Bales before Daedric.

The High King felt himself steeled as he reached a hand towards one of the men nearby. Thanks to the authority as a king the infantry man knew exactly what Daedric was asking of him. In a moment, a blade was unsheathed and placed within the hands of the King without even a comment.

Daedric walked towards the boy, looming over him so that the sun did not touch his skin. This and the sheer presence of royalty caused the boy to turn towards Daedric with a wide expression of wonder. Just for a moment the mourning of his fallen father was washed away as his attention was fully given to the King.

With the presence acknowledged, Daedric held the hilt of the sword towards the boy without a word spoken.

The little one looked at the sword for a moment. A moment that he was measuring his entire life’s worth against its weight. Even though he was quite young he knew the value of service and what it meant to be a warrior. He was the Prince of the Mountain Gap Bastion after all.

For this moment in the boy’s life, he reached forward and took the blade from Daedric’s hands.

“Duke Burg Bales.” Daedric announced to the child with a firmness in his voice that raptured any doubt the boy had, “I have come to this Bastion to give aid. May I ask you, Duke, what is happening and what do you know?”

“Th-they came from the steeps.” He said while looking east, “The steps were grey or brown, but now they have turned as black as coal. Upon hearing bells toll they came at us in nearly uncountable number. M-my father told me to stay back as he tried to hold back the siege.”

Daedric shook his head as he looked up again, the sights of things to come already gnawing at him, “Do we have any people on the outside still?”

“I-I cannot say. I would g-guess any who were beyond the walls are now dead thanks to those bastards.”

Also it could be good to send a few messengers towards the rest of the kingdom. Informing them of the siege that was happening and the victory we have achieved. It should increase morale across the realm, even if just a little.

“Alright men,” Daedric announced as he looked at those who were surrounding them, “We cannot assume this will be their only attack. I will be organizing a scouting party to make sure we know exactly what we are dealing with!”

The men nodded before quickly dispersing to gather those brave enough to go. The firmness of determination within Daedric’s voice was by far enough to drive the people away from desperation.

With a smile upon his face the High King turned towards the young man, “Duke Bales, I know this might all be sudden but I need you to go out and start gathering troops to support us.”

“Wh-who would I ask to do that!?”

“Ahah, your vassals laddy!” Daedric turned to see a semi familiar face walking towards him, “Daedric, I see you have taken to being king like a worm to dirt.”

“You can say that, Hev.” The High King said with a smile reflecting the others, “Did I accidently leave the rest of the battle to you?”

“Yup, though after you beheaded that monster things were pretty easy.” The Dwarf said with a small chuckle, “It seems the Dark Lord has arisen, bringing about several new breeds of monstrosities to try and terrorize us with.”

“Yeah, I knew the teachers talked about something like that happening but by the gods.” The Man shook his head before firming himself, “Hev, can you go support the child here to start raising the local levies. We need as many troops as we can before this ends.”

“Easy enough, come on boy I need to train you.” The Dwarf walked past Daedric and started herding the child to do his duties.

“Oh and Hev!” Daedric called out to his ancestral advisor, “Send out word of this happening. I want the entire Kingdom to prepare themselves!”

“Count it done Daedric!” The old fellow said before Daedric lost sight of him.

Daedric looked towards the gate with a small sense of foreboding in his chest. He was a tough man in a line of High Kings dating back over a century of rule. However he knew whatever foe he was fighting was by far the most devastating his family had ever face.

Of course there was Alaric and the great Warboss that he killed to release humanity from eternal wandering. Maybe if Alaric was alive now he would match these new foes with just as much veracity, which is why they only appeared when he took the reins.

“There you are, Byk. Ready to go?” The High King rubbed the neck of the Ragoo before getting upon its back. The High King turned to the assortment of men who had their own mounts, “Men of the Duke, I thank you all for coming with me on this. There are too few of us to take a straight up fight, so if you think you are about to be attacked you must flee and inform the fortress!”

To those words the men gave a firm agreement.

“Alright then, follow me!”

The gates of the Bastion opened, releasing the riders out into the open fields of the steeps. Many of these beasts they rode were Ragoo, though they were not owned by the Dukes but the men themselves. Such powerful beasts have yet to be truly exploited for a military gain, this the only one who was truly ready for war is probably Byk.

That did not matter at this moment as they noticed the midday sun being swallowed by dark clouds. Daedric did not pay that much heed as they could still see fine enough, but it was when he noticed the ground that was once black with coal began to glow with a sharp and dangerous red that he took heed.

Upon himself Daedric could feel a constant attack made against him. It was weak in comparison to his pure might of will. The same could not be said about his men.

The first one fell after an hour of travel within this wasteland. Both himself and the Ragoo crumbling under everpresent pressure. It gave the troop pause for a moment, only for Daedric to watch another of his men collapse in a moment.

“Men, upon my orders you are to leave now!” Daedric called out as he rode infront of the men, “Take these two men with you, for they might be alive still. But right now these wastes are too much for your mortal bodies to handle. I will complete the mission.”

“B-but my lord!” Called out one of the men, “What if we lose you!?”

“I cannot be lost.” Laughed the King as he patted Byk’s neck, “I have the greatest steed in all the lands.”

They were hesitant, Daedric fully understanding that while they did trust the King, their worry was nearly unlimited. However they were his men, those whose entire family had been under his for generations. Such age of authority was enough that they obeyed his orders even if they were seen as suicidal.

Picking up those who had fallen, Daedric watched as they ran into the darkness. After they left his Horizon the High King turned about and started his march through the wastes of the Darkness.

He ended up traveling what he guessed was North. The red dirt he realized was molten rock that was leaking out of fissures in the ground. Rivers were of this stuff instead of lava, causing the man to wonder what even was this land of the damned.

Soon he started to spy signs of something. Roads not made from cobblestone but that of obsidian. The occasional creature that was patrolling the lands for what Daedric either though was for intruders or maybe food.

It was when he climbed to the top of a hill that he saw them, all of them.

It was an army many times larger than what had attacked the fortress, many times larger than anything known before. Monsters of all sizes stalked around the place as they prepared weapons or ate each other for nourishment.

Beyond that though was a castle that was as black as a dying star. Darker than even the clouds that held back the sun above. It was the castle of the Dark Lord, the one who controled all of these abominations in the world.

Out of the corner of Daedric’s eye he saw something move, coming out of the Grand Castle of Darkness.

Daedric kept an eye upon them, waiting to see if he would get any information that was of value. From his vantage point it was kinda hard to get anything too concrete, however he witnessed numerous scenes of both debauchery and mania within the camps. Many fights would break out among and within racial lines like they were a band of insane sycophants.

It was only a creature, many times taller than even the leader Daedric slayed personally, came into the frame and broke up the fighting.

So these bastards were being held together by a thread, that thread being the larger more intelligent monsters. Such a thing of course meant that if they were able to cut off their heads, then the entire army will diffuse into a squabbling series of tribes.

It was then they Daedric heard the beating of wings reach his ears, and within moments a massive creature landed right before him. Just like the monsters he saw in the camp it was much larger than everything but the Giants he faced before. Its face was nasty while its horns were jagged.

It unfurrowed its wings to give Daedric a look over its full body, “It is a pleasure to welcome the High King to our realm, I assume you are here to negotiate your surrender.”

The High King stared at the bastard with angry eyes as he pulled out his sword, “You know why I am here, though who are you?”

“Ah yes, manners. The Dark Gods themselves did not care to give me them.” The demon announced as he opened himself wide, “I AM THE DARK LORD, KOR’ MORTAIN!”

And with that motion all the pits of lava poured out fire into the air at his announcement. The world itself shook as he gave a fiendish laugh that echoed throughout the realm.

“You’re different from the monsters that act like animals.” Daedric pointed out with a hidden smirk, “What is the aim, do your gods simply want to destroy all of man?”

“Hmm, as expected of a High King.” The creature admitted with his own smirk, “We do not want to simply destroy all of mankind. No, we want to send them back to their true ways. Civilization is but a curse upon the world and I am here to just clean it up.”

“You say that, but it's not true is it?”

The demon simply grew a smile, “I will relish in your death, High King, for to rid mankind if you will make things so much easier.”

The next moment was a flash, Daedric taking Fortage to defend against a strike made by a shadow sword. Daedric felt his muscles almost shatter at the sheer impact of the blade and caused his steed to run back from the attack.

The Dark Lord opened his wings and quickly took flight. However he was not flying into the air but hovering just high enough to try and get a good strike at Daedric. The High King brought Fortage around and once again deflect a blow, but the blow was almost debilitating upon his person.

“Don’t worry about dying, I will make sure your memory is remembered.” The bastard laughed as Daedric once again had to dodge from one of his strikes.

This was dangerous, the creature taunting him with slaughter. If he was forced to keep dodging in fear of an outright death. His heart was sinking as he realized just how hard it might be to survive. He could stay and fight, but Daedric did not like his chances against this being. He might be able to outright him on Byk, if barely.

With a swiftness only seen by the pinnicle of Humanity Daedric barely got Byk to dodge an attack upon the beasts head before leaning in with a kick to the rear. With a flash of adrenaline the beast quickly took the hint and sprinted away as the demon gave chase.

Numerous attempts were made upon the life of Daedric right then and there. Two strikes at his rear that were obviously meant to shatter his spine were made. Still agile though Daedric dodged the first personally while moving Byk just well enough to avoid the more devastating of the two.

“Just die already you civilized swine!” Yelled the monster as he quickly ran up to Daedric’s side.

Daedric, with a swiftness of a blade, made an attempt at the monster’s face. However the Dark Lord was easily able to dodge the attack and make a return swipe right at Daedric’s arm. The High King felt blood spilling from his left arm as he made sure his death was not intimate from the strike.

A small devious smile crossed the demon lord's face as Daedric looked forward and noticed something coming upon the Horizon.

Several black mountains stood in front of Daedric, the fact becoming obvious that the Dark Lord was trying to smash Daedric into a wall of mountains. There is a chance he might have a chance to slip past the Dark Lord to avoid the trap.

If the chances were not in Daedric’s favor, he might need to just fight the bastard.

Daedric was worried for only a moment, then smiled as he leaned into Byk’s body. What to the Demon was probably some sort of devious plan was probably exactly what Daedric was hoping to happen. Still though, this meant that he needed to put all his faith into his steed to keep him alive and at this speed the moment they hit the mountain.

With a jolt Daedric felt himself rise upwards upon the back of Byk, the Ragoo quickly taking to the mountainous steps without much issue. Daedric suspected even the Demon Lord was surprised at this new reality but quickly took to the air to try and catch the two of them before they could enter fully within the mountains.

The High King quickly brought his blade around and defended against a pair of dangerous strikes that were meant for his head. The demon, Kor’Mortain tried his best to keep up with them while taking several swings of the sword at them. However thanks to the way the mountains were, he was now forced to dodge random rocks and debris.

It was at this moment they crossed through the horison of the steppes and entered the mountains proper. Byk had gained even more speed as the beast finally returned to the lands that it can easily call home. That did not stop the Dark Lord from making several stray shots at Daedric to which the King had to dodge or parry.

It had arrived though, the chance that the two of them could shake off the demon lord. This moment was barely enough for Daedric to fight through, the High King barely losing the sword fight the two were having. It was not enough for the Kor to take his life, however the demon did the next best thing.

What Daedric realized the demon had been working on earlier happened. With a swipe of his darkened blade his entire left arm was severed with blood trailing across the mountains. At the same moment, Daedric strike a true blow against the creature’s stomach and caused its own black blood to splatter across the air.

However with that done the two were away. Within only a few seconds Daedric lost sight of the demon and never saw him again. However he did hear him.

“Run, Daedric, run! When my Dukes get you and string you up by the head darkness will once again rule!”

It was shameful, but was there really anything else Daedric could do? At the very least he gave the Demon Lord a mighty wound, but he himself had a wound that was much more grievous than his enemy’s.

He could feel himself become slow, his muscles losing their strength to keep him upon the back of Byk. Shadows had started to form at the edge of his vision as if it was being polluted. He was dying.

Against that however he stays on, keeping his death grip upon Byk’s harness to keep himself mounted. It must have been hours since the injury and yet he was still holding on with a fury.

Soon the sight of something much more grand appeared before him. Daedric saw the edge of the mountains where the blackened stone gave way to fertile plains. Such a place meant civilization for the High King.

While the fields meant civilization was nearby, the first part of Civilization they hit was a fence. Byk had blown it to pieces and did not care to slow even the littlest bit down. It was on a mission to make sure its rider did not die, and it was going to complete it anyways!

“Damn it…” The King said as he finally felt his mind start to wander off. His vision crossed a small barn in the distance and caused him to lapse in his concentration at staying in reality.

He finally fell off the back of Byk, trying his best to grip his sword as some kind of way to cling to life.

At the corner of his vision he saw someone start to come over towards him. It looked to be a young boy, only about sixteen years of age. His wide eyes gazed upon the injured king as he quickly came over and looked over him.

“Shit shit, someone come and help!” He yelled while looking over Daedric. With a flash he ripped off his shirt and started wrapping it around Daedric’s remaining shoulder, “Stay with me! You are not dying here!”

“Of course…” Daedric said while trying his best to give a smirk, “If I died… who would stop them…”

“Sir, SIR!”

And like that the High King blacked out.

Slowly Daedric’s sight returned to him. Darkness that had once covered his vision had ebbed away and was replaced with a series of trees covering him. He took a moment to breath in and out before slowly rising from the impromptu bed he found himself in.

“Hey, hes getting up!”

“Wait really!?”

“Well of course, do you call the gods false when I was healing him?”

“He doesn’t mean that, fellow quite literally lost an arm. I would not have been surprised if the loss of blood got to him first.”

His vision recovered Daedric looked over to see a series of men and women all looking at him with a bit of curiosity. One of them, the fellow who bore the symbols of the gods, gave a bow as they noticed his rise.

“My Lord, while it is great you have recovered I ask you to stay there for a few hours more.” She said before presenting Daedric with food, “My blessings can only go so far.”

“Thank you.” The man said as he looked over to the others, “Where am I and how long was I out?”

“About three days, mi lord.” A young fellow said with a small bit of relief in his voice, “We are near the Village of Od, with a two day’s trip from the Mountain Gap Bastion.”

“Damn it, I might be too late. I-!” Daedric tried to rise however his body quickly started screaming in pain.

“You should not be moving.” The God Fearing Woman said as she shook her head, “Not just your arms were injured, you seemed to have shattered one of your legs as well and that will need time to heal.”

Slowly Daedric rose and gave the girl a thousand yard stare. His anger at being thrown down so low was by far the worst blow he had in his life. However it was not nearly as bad as what he feared if nothing were to happen.

“You four!” He declared while pointing at the adventurers before him, “I need you to run towards the Mountain Gap Bastion! I need to know what is happening!”

“Calm down there.” The Priestess once again said while getting up to Daedric, “What is happening there?”

“The Dark Lord’s forces have appeared there, attacking the fortress. I had just narrowly escaped the Lord himself as he declared revenge against the Fortress. I need to know if damnation has fallen upon them.”

One of the adventurers, a bulky fellow, in the back moved forward, “How much you going to-!”

“We are going.” The Priestess ordered as she looked over the party, “Hexes this is not something we can just ask gold for. If the Darkness has arrived we as human beings must move forward to match it.”

“As human beings you say?” a slim woman said as she walked up to her fellow, “What will happen if we don’t?”

“Then the Kingdom falls and humanity becomes the pawns of dark gods.” Daedric told her outright with a firm authority afforded to him by his rights, “Do you want that, or do you want me to cut you here and now for being a traitor!”

“Y-yeah if there are people in trouble we need to save them!” announced the young lad who found Daedric say, “He is our King after all!”

Daedric felt a little helpless that these people knew exactly who he was, but checking his side he still had Fortage with him. They all talked a little bit more before one of the men went over and got Daedric up, “If we are going to head out where you want us to drop you off? No way we are taking you to the battle.”

The group of adventurers and king traveled through the lands as fast as they could. The adventurers had steeds, however there were only enough horses for them to double up on the two. They led of course, with Byk driving itself behind them as Daedric was securely tied upon its back.

Soon daedric saw a town upon the Horizon, but as skies allowed him to see that little bit more further. Upon the far Horizon that must have been miles away he saw the dark clouds that heralded the Demon Lord’s lands approaching them.

“Sir Priest!” Shouted the youngest adventurer as he knocked upon the door of the local church, “Allow us in, we have a wounded lord with us!”

The doors slowly opened to show an older man with wide eyes, “Where is he!?”

Without a promoting Byk strode through the doors and pushed the poor man aside. With a movement of its fur it dropped the High King upon one of the nearby pews with a thud. Daedric could only let out a curse as he rubbed his botched arm.

“Oh my, oh no!” The priest said as he upon Daedric.

“Alright, I am safe now!” Cried Daedric as he slowly rose to face the two who had brought him here, “Now go to the Bastion, and tell them that I am here and very much alive! That anything the Dukes of Darkness say are but lies!”

The Adventurers did not even bother to respond and ran away from the church. The Priest looked bewildered for a moment as he quickly ran to Daedric’s side, “What happened to you boy? What manner of beast removed your arm.”

“A bastard, that's who!” Cried Daedric as he took a few breaths, “By the Gods I am fucked.”

“You are pale as a ghost and can’t even move your limbs properly, I am surprised you are still alive!” Cried the shepherd of men before taking out several red bottles and feeding them to Daedric, “You must drink, for these vials of vitality will replace your blood.”

The High King took a steady nod as he partook in the bloody drink. He felt his body start to relax much more than ever before while the feeling in his limbs slowly came back. As he extended his arms for the moment the man gave a nod, “I want you to stay here for now, I will ask my Sister of the Cloth to tend to you. The true effects of the potion shall not be felt for a few weeks at least.”

A few weeks? Did Daedric really have that much time?

Upon the advice of the Priest, Daedric took his time to rest within one of the bedchambers of the small church. With every passing day he could feel his strength grow more and more. He hated every moment of it, but there were moments where he had to admit things were just a little bit better.

Three knocks came from the door, “Mi’Lord, may I come in?”

“Yes, you have my permission.”

The door slowly opened to reveal a woman dressed almost completely in white robes. She walked forward with an armfull of supplies that ranged from cleaners to curatives. All of these were settled down next to Daedric as she prepared a cloth.

“I must admit, you are quite lucky to not have any infections.” She admitted while applying what was a cleaning agent to her rag.

“I must thank the adventurers who saved me. Though even now they are serving my will.” Daedric clarified as the young woman removed his shirt.

“That has healed up nicely.” She said as she looked over his wound, “Though it saddens me there is nothing more we can do for you.”

“It does not matter, for as long as I have you caring for me I might even enjoy recovering.” Daedric shot a barely disguised flirt in the woman’s direction.

The girl grew a blush as she smiled, “I would have thought my presence would make it enjoyable~?”

“Well, right now several men are fighting and dying for me and humanity. Even though this is happening I am stuck here debilitated.” Daedric pointed out as he brushed his skin, “I can still fight, but I still wished I had an arm.”

“Hmm,” The woman looked deeply at Daedric as if she was trying to get something out of him. Such curiosity became a question, “Why is it that you desire to fight so much? Surely it is not only duty that keeps your blade quenched.”

>As it was said, its to protect humanity
>Fighting is enjoyable too, and an invading enemy makes it all the better.

Everyone knows already of the war, first thing we have write was to send messangers and tell our lords and allies to prepare and rally troops.
In fact at this point our vassals, brothers and allies should have rally most of the armies together unless they are froze in time.

Guys, look the bright side. Now we can talk to Daedric's mother once we reunite with her and make our own metal arm. Imagine like a artificial arm mae out of gold with several runes so we can use it like another arm.
>>
“It is as I said,” Daedric started as he looked into the woman’s eyes with might, “I fight to keep humanity alive and prospering. That is the duty that my family has started and that I intend to continue.”

“So you value your family that much?”

“Indeed, all Sons and Daughters of Alaric are expected to confirm this. Alaric granted us this responsibility, and my own lineage has confirmed our duty as protectors.”

The woman’s face went a little red at the words of Daedric. He did not really know why she was so, “Why would that interest you so much?”

“Well I have seen quite a few great warriors, especially from the Grand Order who protect every church.” She said while applying some Medicine to Daedric, “It's something noble to look up to.”

“You flatter me, what is your name again?”

“Clair.” She said with a thin smile.

“Clair, could you do a favor for me?”

“Of course, anything for my lord.”

“What I had seen in the Wastes beyond the Mountain Gap must be learned by everyone. How there seems to be five powerful beings holding their army together and that by killing them I am sure this invasion will crumble.” Daedric told her as his heart steeled, “I want every keep to be prepared for this and know of it, so that we can eradicate the army of damnation.”

She gave a steady nod of the head before getting out some paper and writing it all down. She stopped for a moment, “Is there anything else you would want to include?”

“Of course, there is a few more things that the must know about the Demons.”

Over the next hour the information Daedric gave was recorded by the woman. With an entire night’s work the woman was able to send out numerous papers to all the holds of the Kingdom. Thanks to such works, the lords and now growing heroes knew the true nature of the threat and that their King was alive.

A few more days went by, and soon enough the High King rose from his bed with only a little bit of difficulty. He could feel his body had for the most part recovered. Of course it was never going to be as strong as it was before but he was definitely more than able to do something.

As he was putting on his gear the door opened to reveal the priestess who had been taking care of him, her eyes widening, “You are out of bed!”

“Of course, there is little reason for me to stay here.” Daedric said as he slowly fastened his armor with a single hand, “There are likely men dying upon the walls as we speak.”

She looked about to say something, but simply shook her head as she steeled herself, “Then I shall come with you.”

Daedric’s brow rose a little, “Will you now?”

“Yes, I might not look like it but I had trained myself with a mace and even own a set of chainmail. I cannot in good conscience leave you to travel to your death.”

“An interesting proposal.” Daedric said as he looked at her, “Are you doing this because you want to see battle and be chivalrous?”

Clair, the Priestess, stopped for a moment as if it was hit right on the dot, “I guess you have me, my lord. While I have been many places I have read tales of your Father’s exploits and wish to commit them myself.”

A small smile crossed Daedric’s face as he heard those words.

>Sure, come along and we shall be out
>No, Daedric shall go at this alone!
>I want to give you a gift, before I leave here tonight. *It's fucking her to guarantee your next character, ok.*

That can heal without affect his overall combat ability, its nothing but a flesh wound.

Losing the use of an arm or hand is devastating for our ability. Seriously try putting your hand in a cast for a whole week and try living like that.

Fuck man I just wanted large scale battles and skirmishes all over the kingdom for fun. Hopefully even see the elves get invaded for fucking once, how are they all insulated from all of this?

“No there is something else I need from you, a gift I will give you.” Daedric said as he took in a deep breath.

The woman took a moment, then her eyes slowly widened, “My Lord…”

“All that I ask is that you do not force the boy into a religious order, for Alaric did not need the guidance of Gods to ascend to the throne. Am I understood?”

“Y-yes Daedric. Though I… wish I could have been with you.”

“This is war, and simply based on my previous injury I do not know if I will survive. If you require me to marry you I will to at least guarantee he gets his rights I will.”

“I… I want that atleast.”

“Very well.”

The day went to night, then to day once more. As if the devil was upon his heels the High King was now traveling towards the failing wall. However it took not genius to notice the darkness that once surrounded the place had advanced so far that it had surpassed the great wall.

It was about half a day of travel, but the monsters who were coming from the wall had started flooding the roads and fields. A small group of those creatures Daedric was tempted to call goblins were hanging out on the high way as if stopping all travel from there and the towns that he originate from.

Of course he could not both wield a sword and ride Byk, thus his beast had to plow through the numerous monsters as it obliterated the flesh of numerous beings.

He was no fool now, for that was not the first and barely scratched the large amount of monsters that needed to be slaughtered. It was obvious that the walls had failed in the keep itself, likely due to the attacks by the Dukes. Cutting off communications was likely thanks to Daedric’s earlier message causing the element of surprise to wear off.

In his condition the Mountain Gap Bastion was too overrun for him to pierce it. Thus he needed a different direction.

The journey was long, longer than anything Daedric wanted to experience without two hands. However even with this he continued to ride and destroy every green bastard they came across.

Byk’s fur was stained red with their blood as they rode in front of the fortress. Already Daedric could see the numerous Dwarfs and Men standing upon the walls looking down with vigilance. Even when Daedric, High King of Mankind approached they raised their bows in preparation for whatever was about to happen.

Daedric felt at this moment he was at the right distance and called out, “Hail, King of the Underground! I, Daedric descendant of Alaric, come before you seeking aid!”

The dwarves and men all talked to one another as if wondering the validity of such a statement. Murmurs like these should have made Daedric nervous, but through his voice the fact became apparent that he was indeed who he claimed he was. However such a thing was of course not enough for the Dwarves who came forward.

This one wore armor much more fine than all around him, “Prove to us that you are the High King!”

Daedric knew this was coming, and within a moment drew Fortage for all to witness. Almost all their eyes were widened as they began calling out to one another. The Gates themselves opened to Daedric who quickly rode in as numerous rags were brought to wipe off the blood. Just as he entered the gates closed, followed by a barrage of crossbow fire coming from those on the wall.

“Daedric Grudgebearer.” The High King looked to see his other half smiling at him, “I can barely remember the day when your ancestor walked upon my doors just the same. Though if I am going to be honest you are in much worse shape.”

The King rubbed his missing limb with agony, “So I am.”

The King gave a nod with respect, “Now I must ask, did you truly fight against the Demon Lord himself?”

“That is how I got this wound.” He fired back before look back for just a moment, “What happened in the Mountain Gap Bastion?”

The Dwarf gave a sigh, “Word is that they were defeated when those below the Demon Lord came. Four Dukes of Darkness there were, the army just barely escaping thanks to the help of four adventurers.”

“And where is the army of darkness?”

“They are still at the fortress, sending their minions to bite at the heels of the retreating army and kill any messengers.” He said with a huff, “I believe within three days they will advance and try to destroy our keep. You want to help me meet them?”

>Hell yeah!

“So you are heading out to fight them?” Daedric asked as he raised a brow.

“Of course, there is nothing else to do than to fight the good fight.” The King answered Daedric as they got deeper into the keep.

“Good then,” Daedric said as he turned towards the King, “I want to ask you a favor, is there anything you can do about my arm?”

“The one you have or the one you are missing?” The Dwarf asked before giving a chuckle, “I know I know, you wish to know if there is any dwarven runes that can help you.”

“Indeed. Without my arm I am simply a glorified general.” Daedric claimed as they arrived into the keep proper, “I know of the Dukes who face us, and without an able body at least any army I use shall not match them in might.”

The Dwarf thought to himself for a moment, “There is something, however it will require the smiths to work hard and for you to stay here.”

“Am I really of use to fighting if I cannot fight at full might?”

The Deep King looked a little annoyed at Daedric, however he simply shook his head as if he remembered something. He took in a breath once again before speaking, “Even without swordsmanship you humans are not useless. Through our armies our will is exercised. However I can assume that your bloodline has always fought in the front lines since even Alaric.”

“Is that so?” Daedric asked skeptically.

“Hmm, how about this.” The man started with a small laugh, “Since I cannot leave you to launder while getting yourself measured and worked on I want to place you in charge of a defensive army, will that do?”

“I think it can be.” Daedric said as he nodded towards the Dwarf, “I shall make sure not even a single green midget makes it into your hold.”

“Aye, now get to recovering we have work to do!”

And with that the High King and Deep King worked about preparing the armies and seeing the Deep King off. A few days went by, enough that the defences of the Keep were strengthened to a tee.

It was only two days after the Deep King left that they arrived at the Keep, chasing the scent of the wounded High King.
