Last time, a group of armed revolutionaries attacked the rehabilitation center ran by Elite 4 Dr. Aspen. Percy rushed headfirst into danger alongside his friends to deal with the situation. He tried to fight CUBONE MASK one of the leaders of the revolution and managed to stop him hurting his team, his friends and himself in the process.

After passing out from receiving a Machamp’s “Bullet Punch” to the gut he woke up in a hospital room a couple of days after the battle. After getting his parents to trust him enough to continue his adventures trough the region he’s visited by the people he’s met on his journey.
>>
Sitting on the hospital bed you find yourself surrounded by familiar faces who all try to get a word with you. “

[Gareth]: Lil man, how did you manage to tank that punch and still be conscious? I'm serious, you sure you are alright?

[Diane]: Maybe he's got enhanced strength from genetic tampering

[Kali]: Shut up. He's just a stubborn idiot who doesn't know when to quit.
Kali lets her amicable mask slip after seeing you, her face filled with worry which she tries to hide with her harsh words.

[Dick]: Nonsense, he's a man of high caliber who won't let something as simple as internal organ bleeding stop him. But, are you sure you don't want to go to another, more professional hospital? I got contacts
Dick's retorts against Kali, not even trying to flirt with her, instead he's more concerned with you.

[Eli]: Nah, weirdo is fucking nuts, he got shanked by a Snorunt when I met him. Still, can you tone it down a little? You can't keep being a badass if you fucking die.

[Aleida]: Yes, when I hear what happened I thought you'd be dead. I didn't want to bury one of my first friends. It scared me more than I thought it would.

The expression on their faces is one you aren’t accustomed to seeing from anyone outside your parents or Pokémon. It’s not disgust or mockery, they all look glad to be around you, happy that you aren’t in any danger anymore, that you are alright.
Even Kali who you believed that viewed you below human garbage until recently, sighed with relief when she saw you conscious.
When did this happen? When did you fool so many people into believing they liked you?

It’s ridiculous.
A bad joke.
Just a few weeks ago you still got occasionally shoved into trashcans, your only friends Pokémon who took pity on you.
It was really this easy?
Why did you spend all that time alone then?
Why where you are so afraid of talking to other people but not afraid of being electrocuted by an electric-type Pokémon or poisoned while trying to befriend a horde of Grimer?
Why did people make you feel you weren’t worthy of their attention, their friendship, their love?
You believed your parents only cared about you out of obligation.

You start to laugh at the stupidity of all of it. It starts as a chuckle that evolves into a fit of hysterics which dies down as it starts to become painful for your battered body and it devolves into a coughing fit, there are tears in your eyes, you can’t tell if it’s from the pain in your chest or if you were really that starved for acceptance. Everyone looks at you concerned from your sudden shift into a cackling madman.

>” Never been better” Spend some time with your friends before going to visit your team.
>Let’s try to recruit them to fight the giant mind-controlling Vespiquen in Adage Village. Kali should understand
>Tell everyone about White Veil, Victoria, and the Behemoths. Everyone here is someone you can trust, you’ll apologize to Kali later for breaking your promise to not tell anyone.
>Apologize, your complete jackass stunts made everyone worried.
>Cry, let it all out.

OOC: Sorry for the sudden absence. I got into some really hectic shit this weekend with exams coming up and my laptop getting fucked, but I'm ready to keep writing.

No, you're the real one for running this quest. Glad to have you back.
>>
>>5032369
+1 for now
I get the feeling telling our friends will cause us to suffer later on. Why do you "tell everyone everything and have no subtlety and kill all subterfuge" fucks keep ruining the quests I play in?
>>
>>5032434
Considering just about every time we go it alone we get seriously injured my main concern is self preservation. We aren't telling the fuckin world, just our close friends that we can trust. Bare minimum Gareth and Eli deserve to know. I'm more than happy leaving Alieda (and Dick because he'd definitely blab to her) in the dark.
>>
>>5032443
That sort of logic makes more sense than the retard at the end of last thread. Good
>>
>>5032168
this>>5032369
We can't let this shitshow happen again.
>>
>>5032434
Because your an autistic dumbass and this is not a secret worth keeping when so much is on the line. Now quit bitching already.
>>
>>5032446
Its the exact reasoning used last thread, you just threw a tantrum because you had no argument.
>>
>>5032443
That is a lot more reasonable, but I do feel like we should divy up the information a bit more specifically and not just tell everyone everything - the behemoth stuff we could probably tell everyone, the general 'White Veil is evil' stuff I could see us telling Eli and Gareth, but I wouldn't want to mention Vicky to anyone else at the moment.

I also think timing is still a factor here - we can tell people, but we should probably read the room right now and not tell people about the even crazier shit we've been up to in the last few weeks while they're still worried about the last crazy thing we did and actively telling us dial it back.
>>
>>5032461
They aren't letting us out of their sight any time soon, and if they find out that we played favorites about how much each other knew, for no real reason than they might be annoyed at not being told later. They might start fighting as a group. Everyone gets to know what we do, or none at all. There is no reason to keep them in the dark about what we're doing, they know Percy is more than insane enough to walk off being gut-punched by a Machamp. They need to know why Percy is willing to go that far.
>>
>>5032465
Now that's better reasoning than "lol spill all the secrets for no reason"
>>
>>5032168
>>” Never been better” Spend some time with your friends before going to visit your team.
>Let’s try to recruit them to fight the giant mind-controlling Vespiquen in Adage Village. Kali should understand
>>
>>5032465
I feel like we shouldn't spill to anyone about Vicky yet though. We're not anywhere near being in an actionable position on that yet and it doesn't affect the group.
>>
>>5032483
Support this. Also we should give a call to the doc and see if she made some progress on that thing against her pheromones.
>>
>>5032168
>Apologize, your complete jackass stunts made everyone worried.

>” Never been better” Spend some time with your friends before going to visit your team.

Ask to talk to Kali alone at the end?
>>
>>5032470
You the dumbass that was for keeping them in the dark no matter what? What's wrong, more people understand common sense and you can't pull an argument against it? It is the exact same reason you were told last thread, and you were still the only dumbass that tried to use the argument that we would be telling the whole world for,"No reason".
>>5032484
No, if the worst happens, actually, when the worst happens, and Vicky takes over our meatsuit again, they need to know who the hell is controlling our boy. They know psychic or ghost types are a thing, and when we tell them about the Behemoth, they might think that is one of them doing it, which isn't technically wrong either. Plus its a failsafe in case Vicky has another mental breakdown, while in our skin, and they know to not approach Percy till Kali or our psychic types hold him down and excise her influence.
>>
>>5032142
Hello again MediocreQM, wasn't able to tell you last thread but good luck on you exams dude.

Supporting this>>5032483 with a bit of >>5032369 like let's fill them slowly, start with Eri, at least she knows why we do what we do. But Vicky should be a secret, Kari still trusts us to keep her family affairs a secret I say let's keep like that.

>>5032582
Look anon, I wasn't in the last thread when the argument happened but here's a tip, people might not be so opposite to your viewpoint if you stopped insulting people and making essays of why they are wrong and you're right. This guy might not even be the same person you had your argument, just accept people will have different opinions, if people like what you preach they will support you, let's not start a fight when the thread just started ok.

The laughter stops but the tears won’t stop dripping down your face, as you force a grin and try to tell everyone that you are fine and to not worry but there’s a knot in your throat, the words just won’t come out. Forcing yourself to utter the words “I’m fine” your voice cracks. You keep trying to speak up but you’re a mess of tears and snot, you can take it anymore and you just start to cry.

Not being able to keep your cool is frustrating, but at the same time liberating. You always try to keep your family from worrying too much about you since you’ve given them enough problems, so you’ve never shown this to others, you’ve never really had a shoulder to cry on.

It’s pathetic. How can this make you so goddamn happy?

[Percy]: Thanks for being here.

That's the only thing you can manage to say.

[Eli]: H-hey weirdo?! What’s gotten into y-you? Dude, c’mon it’s alright, uh…
[Eli]: Hey what’s that thing you were telling me the other day about Horseas or whatever? Let’s talk about that!
[Eli]:Uh, It’s Diane bothering you? I’ll beat the shit out of her if she’s making you uncomfortable!

[Diane]: I’m not doing anything!

Eli fumbles around awkwardly trying to close in to hug you but keeps second-guessing herself and instead she just keeps standing near you with her arms extended really awkwardly, surprisingly. she’s even worse than you at dealing with crying people. Gareth pushes her towards you putting her hand above yours, she is confused for a second before gripping it tightly.

[Gareth]: Just let it out all man. You’ve been dealing with some heavy shit, haven’t you? It’s ok. We are here for you.
[Eli]: What he said.

Dick tells you it’s unfit for a man to show his sensible side while crying bitch tears himself.

Professor Maple in an unexpectedly reassuring tone she tells you that it’s fine, that you did your best, sounding like a reliable older sister. Seeing you this vulnerable makes her less fearful of you.

Diane keeps quiet for a moment and instead puts her hand in your shoulder

Kali tries to say something, but she can’t find the right words. Instead, she just mutters “Goddamit Percy” under her breath and gives you a sorrowful smile.

Aleida worriedly asks if you are crying out of happiness, sadness, or pain.

They all try to help in their awkward ways, doing their best to cheer you up or respectfully letting you get it out of your system.

Everyone approaches except for one person. The tall, nervous wreck of a girl who considered herself your first and only human friend. Jeanne watches from the other side of the room feeling unable to step forward.

>>5032647

Once you calm down and spend some time with everyone you excuse yourself, you need to talk to Kali in private, they all say goodbye and wish you good luck on your recovery, Eli and Gareth will be waiting for you at Professor Aspen Labs.

Everyone leaves the room to let you two on your own.

There’s a bit of tension in the air as the girl stares you down obviously mad at something. The seconds of silence feels longer than usual before she speaks up.

[Kali]: Well, don’t you think there’s something you need to say to me?

>Can you just spell it out? I’m still working on reading between the lines when it comes to you.
> “What? where you really that worried about me?”
>”…Sorry? Not really sure why, I just feel like I did something wrong.”

This might be my last post till I get home so my trip stop jumping, but I support talking with Eli alone, I am not so sure about Gareth, didn't he said he was planning to split and go on his own? If he's planning to stick around then sure, He's part of the main trio and unliken us he's close to Dick's bro who unlike Dick wasn't disowned, maybe he could get some dirt for us or make his bro grown a conscience.
>>
>>5032659
+1ing all of this, and praying Kali doesn't just kill us on the spot
>>
>>5032671
Even if he's going on his own he's still trustworthy. Plus with Alakazam he's only ever a teleport away
>>
>>5032671
He's a good dude, and he's got Alakazam, so he can mind Gareth if...when it becomes necessary, and better to have him know ahead of time so he can come with Alakazam in the event of Psychic bullshit taking Percy for a ride. Be it Vicky pulling emergency manuevers, or another problem like the Behemoth Vespiquin.
>>
>>5032671
Also it's pretty clear Dick's brother is just a literal faggot, so it's not so much getting Gareth to hang with him making him grow a conscious, so much as the guy simping. Good for our purposes either way, but if he grows into not a horrible jackass, even better in the long run. Also I want to at least have a chance with Gareth hanging with us to tell him he's only into girls and friendzone him, Dick and his Gallade will become best friends with him on the spot, and it will be hilarious.

[Percy]: …Sorry? Not really sure why, I just feel like I did something wrong, many things actually. I’m just in a general state of guilt right now so I’m not sure where to start.
[Percy]: Actually, I wanted to thank you for calling the cops. You saved our bacon’s back there.

[Kali]: Yes, rushing towards a group of terrorists headfirst without contacting authorities. That was incredibly stupid.
[Kali]: But…I’m glad I could be of assistance.
[Kali]: Well, you actually got some of them right. I’m impressed.

[Kali]: But there’s still some stuff I need to chew you out for.
[Kali]: First of all Froakie, I know he’s a handful and he was bred for battles but did you really send a rookie Pokémon who had no real battle experience against what I’ve been told was an “Elite-4 level Pokémon” as bait?
[Kali]: I’m sure if I pulled that shit you wouldn’t let me hear the end of it.

[Percy]: Are you really concerned? Or do you just want to make me feel bad?
[Kali]: Would you believe me if I said both? I care for him. That’s why I wanted you to train him, you are a lot of things but it always seemed like you cared a lot about your Pokémon.

[Kali]: I know it’s rich coming from me. But even if you want to dive headfirst into suicidal missions you need to understand that they are not an extension of you. When you are endangering yourself, you are endangering them as well.

[Percy]: You really came here to lecture me?

[Kali]: You did last time, with Arcanine. I’m paying the favor in kind. Because your words really helped back there. So I hope you can at least take mine into consideration.

[Percy]:
[Percy]: It was, my mistake. I was under pressure. I just tried to do my best with what we had, I thought we could make it, but we, no, I wasn’t strong enough.
[Percy]: That’s why I want to apologize to him, to all my team and Eli’s.
[Percy]: For getting them hurt so bad.

[Kali]: Well, at least you can acknowledge that. He’d probably jump into battle without your command anyways.

[Percy]: Actually, he was kind of scared the whole time. He quickly realized he was out of his depth and I didn’t. It was my call, I’m sorry.

[Kali]: That’s fair. I won’t give you more shit for it.

[Percy]: I, appreciate it?
[Percy]: Actually I wanted to tell you something myself.
[Percy]: I came close to fucking up and not being able to fix it, I'm going to come clean with our friends about what I've been doing.

[1/2]
>>
>>5033155
[Kali]: Oh, does that include me?

[Percy]: Huh?

[Kali]: You know? I’m pretty observant Percival, the amulet I gave you, the one to keep my sister away from tampering with your mind. I noticed that you didn’t carry it with you anymore.
[Kali]: I thought, maybe you kept it stashed somewhere near you but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

[Percy]: Did you search my body while I was unconscious?

[Kali]: No. Jeanne did, she was pretty adamant of being the one to do so.

[Percy]: Did she do anything to me while I was asleep?

[Kali]: I don’t know, maybe, she’s a bit weird when it comes to you, but let’s get back on topic.
[Kali]: When you woke up, you didn’t seem preoccupied about your missing amulet.
[Kali]: So I guess you are used to being without it. Furthermore, Jeanne sensed a strange presence when she was alone in the room with you, with her weird exorcist senses. So….
[Kali]: What have you been up to with Victoria?

[Percy]: Eh, I didn’t intend to keep it a secret? I just didn’t really know when and how to address it with you?

[Kali]: Oh really, then let’s address it right now.
[Kali]: Did you pity her enough to make a cozy room for her in your brain? lend her your body so she can see the world? Maybe vivisect a Pokémon or two?

[Percy]: She has only tampered with corpses so far, so I’m sure she’s doing better

[Kali]: YOU ACTUALLY LET HER POSSESS YOU? WHAT THE FUCK PERCIVAL?!

[Percy]: Hey, keep quiet, we are in a hospital!
[Percy]: It’s just been a couple of times. Worse thing that happened was getting my arm broken. And some really messed up dreams but that’s all.
[Percy]: And she hasn’t hurt anyone so far, she seems to care about me.

[Kali]: Percival she made me stab Richard almost to the death and killed my Pachirisu in fits of jealousy. She caring for you puts everyone around you in danger. Even if it’s genuine.

>Well, maybe if you weren’t so scared of her I wouldn’t have to do it!
>Hey, none of your goddamn business. At least I try to help her.
>I know it’s risky and stupid but. I won’t leave her alone
>She was all alone, I couldn’t stand seeing her like that.

There's also the fact that Victoria would be beyond pissed if we did cut ties with her, but I'd say that comes second.

Also, Kali's totally right about us just putting Froakie out there completely unprepared. I figured he had a bit more experience under his belt when we got him, but I should have known better.

Please believe, we believe Kali and we know shes dangerous, but that doesnt make her a monster. If we really want her to not be violent and dangerous, someone has to to step up and teach her, treat her like a real person. Isolating her completely is just going to make it worse. She deserves a chance to get better, to atone maybe.
Plus, Percy knows what being isolated and treated like a freak is like and wouldnt wish it on anyone. It does stuff to you, and guaranteed it wont lead to anything good. Kali probably knows a bit too, having to deal with this.

Kali is positively irate she tries to hide it but it’s obvious, her expression is not one you are unfamiliar with, what is new though is her hair standing on their ends while things around the hospital room start to float slightly so, he psychic abilities left unchecked by her current state of mind. You snap her out of it by pointing all the shit floating around the room, Kali deeply ashamed stops, and apologizes, you use this moment of vulnerability to say your piece.

[Percy]: It’s not that I don’t believe you. I know she’s dangerous.
[Percy]: But she’s not a monster. If we want her to not be a threat to others and herself, someone needs to start treating her like a real person.
[Percy]: She deserves a chance to get better, to understand why what she did was wrong.
[Percy]: When she started to reach out to me, she was all alone, I couldn’t stand seeing her like that.

[Percy]: I want to help her
[Percy]: Just like I want to help you.

Kali is caught off guard for a moment, she wants to retort, to find a way to contradict you, to try to convince you to stay away but she can’.t

[Percy]: . . . Also, she looks really cute in a Piplup onesie, I wish I had a picture to show you. I wonder if I could get Alakazam to make some sort of “Psychic projection” of my thoughts or maybe use his telepathy to beam the image to your mind?

[Kali]: Are you creeping on my sister?

[Percy]:…No? She’s just, uh…

[Kali]: You hesitated
[Victoria]: You hesitated

The sisters speak to you in unison, it has a strange echo-like effect on you as the words are heard both by you ears and directly in your thoughts it leaves you dizzy for a moment.

[Kali]: She’s listening to this right?

[Percy]: Most likely.

[Kali]: I know what you think
[Kali]: That I’m a coward and that it’s selfish.
[Kali]: But I should be the one to deal with her, to help her. I can’t let anyone else burden that responsibility.
[Kali]: ...But I’m, I’m still not ready to face her. And that’s not fair to her.
[Kali]: I just, I don’t want anyone else to get hurt by her. I couldn’t forgive myself if she did it again and that would set her back even more.
[Kali]: I cannot force you to cut your connection to her after you got so far. That would end up rather grisly.

[Percy]: I wouldn’t think that Vicky…

[Victoria]: No, she’s right, It’d be a bloodbath
[Percy]: (Mentally to Vicky)I appreciate your honesty

[Kali]: So, you better not back down.
[Kali]: You can’t afford to fail her.

[Kali]: And regarding the issue of telling your friends about what we’ve been up to, I still oppose it.
[Kali]: At least telling everyone. If too many people know what we are up to rumors will start to spread and before you know it, you are in a shallow grave in the middle of nowhere.
[Kali]: Give it some thought, I’d say keeping it between a handful of people will be ideal. Two or three trustworthy persons. Also, I’d prefer not to tell anything to Dick, at least while he’s traveling with that revolutionary girl. We should discuss it in full another time, I got my own candidates.

She sounded calmer and more open to the idea, still, you’d like everyone to know, keeping them all in the dark about this doesn’t sit right with you. As you muse about her conditions she turns her back on you and starts to head for the door, stopping just before leaving, unable to face you directly.

[Kali]: One more thing.
[Kali]: Stop making Jeanne so worried, alright?
[Kali]: And stop making me worry about you as well.
She says, hurriedly under her breath, barely audible and visibly flustered.

[Kali]: Idiot.
[Percy]: That’s two things and an insult.
[Kali]: Shut up.
[Kali]: You better get some rest.

“Hey” your voice stops her in her tracks. As if she were expecting something to be said. ” I know I already said it to everyone but, thanks for stopping by Kali.”

“Don’t worry about it” she tries to act as if she wasn’t affected by your previous conversation,

“I think I know you a bit better now, you're like a Rockruff who is about to evolve into a Lycanrok, you might act a bit rough but you're a good friend.” You chuckle at the mental image of her as a Rockruff but you truly are glad that you can call her a friend, even if she won’t say it, you know she cares about you just as you do for her.

She sighs and turns to face you, her cold mask showing its cracks. Still upset, but her expression doesn’t show rage. It’s the face of a girl who’s scared of losing something that has become important to her, as much as that upsets her. She seems frightened, vulnerable even. You wonder how many people have seen this side of her.

You are the only person I can trust with this, even if it wasn’t by choice at first. I had to make sure you wouldn’t die on me

[Kali]: So don’t you dare leave me alone, not yet at least

[Kali]: She exits the room at a brisk pace, not being able to control her embarrassment after showing you such an unsightly side of her. The side that cares for you.

>Relationship with Kali: Improved? Yeah, you are pretty sure you did.

After Kali leaves, you get out of bed ready to tackle the day. Gathering your belongings and heading outside the clinic despite the nurses’ and doctor’s recommendations to rest a little longer. Feeling a bit disoriented without your team you make your way to Professor Aspen's lab.

Seems like the effects of the altercation can still be felt. Both employees and the Pokémon seem to be more wary and tired than before. A group of construction workers is dealing with the hole you made in one of the walls. There’s also a small group of armed security guards patrolling the premises, their uniforms read Blackstone Co to the surprise of no one. They must have hired some extra security after the attack on the premises.

One of the workers, who was profusely thankful for your friend’s aid tells you that your team is currently on the lab’s open areas with Gareth. Eli is in one of the rooms fitted for physical therapy with her team and Dr. Aspen is around. You decide to check on your mons, they are first and foremost.

[1/2]
>>
>>5034875
You see Gareth training with the healthy members of the team, Shear is practicing her psychic moves, and Confuse Ray with the aid of Alakazam who's teaching her how to hone her power more effectively and precisely. Meanwhile, Prince is sparring against Sandrider, Drillbreaker, Bugman, and Solaire. While Prince is much stronger than them their teamwork is very solid, and they seem leagues more coordinated than before, even more so than your own team. And Prince seems different somehow.

Froakie seems itching to join in the training, but Mimikyu and Houndour stop him as he is still in a delicate condition. His hurt limbs are in properly sized casts, he groans saying he's ready to spar but he's obviously lying. Loudred sits with the other hurts mon seemingly lost in thought until she notices you. Mimikyu and Houndour look better but they still seem to avoid moving too much because of the pain.

Percy!” Loudred exclaims excited as she tries to walk as quickly as she cans to your side, as she approaches you can see the consequences of the battle more clearly, she still can’t move her arm and on her forehead, there’s a deep scar that seems to extend till the back of her head. She greets you with a wide smile and hugs you ever so gently. “Since I haven’t been able to spar, I’ve been working on controlling my strength! Now I’ll be able to carry you! ” She sounds so cheerful and optimistic, but you can’t help but look at the scars from her injuries. Her hurt arm has bolts and other metallic equipment to keep her bones in place and the scar that now adorns her head is impossible to not notice.

[2/3]
>>
>>5034888
Everyone stops their training and goes to greet you.

Sir Parzival!” Calling you the nickname she picked for you, Shear runs to your side containing her urges to tackle you to the ground.

[Shear]: Welcome back! Froakie kept saying you were a goner but I knew you’d survive!

[Mimikyu]: Master! I’m ashamed to not be able to be by your side but they wouldn’t let me go. Besides young master Prince needed some assistance to keep Froakie out of trouble.

Mimikyu bows apologetically like an ashamed Japanese salaryman, while you try to convince him he did well by staying back here.

[Froakie]: You survived?! I actually didn’t expect that from a human

[Prince]: Hey Pa, I’m glad you are alright, we were really worried

Prince seems a little out of himself, he sounds troubled by something, Houndour tells him something you can’t quite hear and he seems to snap out of it.

Houndour, Prince, and Froakie stand to the side, acting a bit more distant. You understand Froakie since you aren’t particularly close and this is just his way of being, but Prince and Houndour seem very serious.

[Houndour]: Partner, there’s something we need to talk about when you got the chance.
[Houndour]: It’s good to see you back on your feet.

A question!
Our Pokémaniac seems to have balls of steel, but there are things that always manage to perturbe us

>What is Percy most afraid of?
>>
>>5035709
>>What is Percy most afraid of?
Losing anyone, be it or human friends or pokéfriends. Can't blame him, since his first friend got shot by his gramps.
>>
>>5035709
Losing someone is a deep-seated fear based on his personality and backstory and general lack of social skills, yeah yeah sure whatever. That's right but I feel like that's not what you're going for. As far as regular-ass phobias are concerned, the Galarian fossils and Type: Null. There are obviously huge ethical concerns but mostly, chimeras freak him the fuck out. They probably speak and act really strangely, different parts use different body language, it's almost like being multilingual but trying to have a conversation where you swap between multiple different languages mid-sentence. So on one level, trying to communicate with them is just unnerving. There's also the somewhat rational surface level fear that the chimera are unnatural and should not be and all, but Percy also irrationally fears that chimera Pokemon will steal his organs and add them to its body.

He's also a Ditto Doppelganger conspiracy theorist but that's less a phobia and more a paranoia.
>>
>>5035716
>He's also a Ditto Doppelganger conspiracy theorist but that's less a phobia and more a paranoia.
I actually had a hilarious dream based on a typo where Diane was comforting us and put her hand "in" our shoulder, so it turned out she was secretly a type-shifted Steel Ditto from the future sent back in time to assassinate us to prevent our potential involvement in the Punished Percival timeline.

There is always horror stories involving Hypno's and young trainers.

I can see a lot of stories about pokemon stalking trainers and eating them alive once they're too weak to run anymore- like a pack of houndoom with glowing red eyes.
>>
>>5036042
Yeah, there are also rape stories, and ones where Hypno eats trainers too...Hypno is spooky.
>>
>>5036042
>Wasn't there a creepypasta about Hypno kidnapping children and forcing them to work in a cave or something?
Pretty sure that’s just their Pokédex entry.
>>
>>5036299
There's no Pokedex entry about Hypno abducting multiple children and making them work in a cave. I don't know if it's a creepypasta, but it's definitely not a Pokedex entry. There's one entry that says it abducted a kid, and I think that's a reference to the Fire Red Leaf Green event on the Sevii Islands where a Hypno abducted some girl to a forest. The Fire Red and X 'dex entries specifically. There are also entries saying that Hypno rarely harms people, and are used to help insomniacs. Like all Pokemon, you can't say they're good or evil as a whole.

>>5036042
Like I said, I'm not sure about any specific creepypastas, but I can easily imagine the Pokemon universe equivalent of The Pied Piper involving Hypno. Which I imagine is what that pasta was.

>There's one entry that says it abducted a kid, and I think that's a reference to the Fire Red Leaf Green event on the Sevii Islands where a Hypno abducted some girl to a forest. The Fire Red and X 'dex entries specifically.

I directly addressed that. Fire Red isn't Gen 1, by the way, it's Gen 3. So let's take a look here.

Red/Blue: When it locks eyes with an enemy, it will use a mix of PSI moves such as Hypnosis and Confusion.
Yellow: Avoid eye contact if you come across one. It will try to put you to sleep by using its pendulum.
Stadium: If you lock eyes with it, it will try to hypnotize you. It is best to close your eyes quickly before you get hypnotized.

The Gen 1 depiction of it is just that it's good at hypnosis. Which is appropriate, because it's Hypno, the Hypnosis Pokemon.

The notable ones are:

Fire Red/X: It carries a pendulum-like device. There once was an incident in which it took away a child it hypnotized.

There ONCE was an incident. Not, "this Pokemon regularly rapes children." One time, a Hypno took a kid. Meanwhile, consider;

Sun: While it is an extremely dangerous Pokémon, people who are in need of a good, sound sleep call it their savior.
Ultra Sun: In Alola, Komala is Hypno's main target. It rarely harms people.
Ultra Moon: There are some Hypno that assist doctors with patients who can't sleep at night in hospitals.

Malamar
X/Omega Red: It wields the most compelling hypnotic powers of any Pokémon, and it forces others to do whatever it wants.
Ultra Sun: When it comes to strong hypnosis, there's an endless number of people who utilize Malamar for their nefarious deeds.
Shield: It's said that Malamar's hypnotic powers played a role in certain history-changing events.

The internet has taken Hypno as a fetish icon, that doesn't mean it canonically molests children you fucking psychopath.

>>
>>5036692
Lore introduced in Gen 3, in reference to a one-off event. And lore that has since been one-upped with Pokemon like Malamar. One Hypno abducting one child is not species-defining behavior.

>>5036687
So what you're saying is that the real rapist here is Malamar and that world powers are run by three of them?
This lines up too well with the Terminator Ditto, they've clearly decided that Punished Percival is a grave threat to them and have used a captured Dialga to send a delta species Ditto back in time to kill him. Diana is actually from the future, sent back by Celebi to save us and prevent an army of shadow pokemon from taking over the world.

>Evaluate injuries.
>Check on Froakie.
>Hear Houndour’s request.

You approach your team to ask them how they are doing and hear about it in all accounts, ranging from Shear excited, overexplanatory, exaggerated exposition that derailed into inconsequential tangents about witchcraft “And, and then! Alakazam taught me how to bend a spoon with my MIND, No cutlery is safe from me now!” to Froakie’s dry one liners that you just know he prepared beforehand to sound as cool as possible. “Tch, nothing much”

Prince and Vulpix are doing alright physically. Gareth does tell you that Prince attitude has changed a bit after the battle, he’s putting more effort in training and is acting a bit more aggressive during sparring. He’s taken a more proactive role team, checking on Loudred constantly and spending time with Froakie. Acting as some sort of impromptu team leader while you were unconscious and Houndour heals.

Shear has been changing a bit as well, keeping her teasing at a minimum and instead being more playful, trying to get your team, in particular Froakie and Prince from getting to tense. Since’s Loudred has been absent for a while because of her surgeries she’s been trying to be a mood maker and keep everyone’s spirits up.

Houndour has been quite melancholic during his recovery, he doesn’t leave Loudred’s side. If he ever does, he just quickly checks on the others before returning back to her. His recovery has been doing fine since he avoids overexerting himself too much. His jaws are still sore and his dentures where a bit damaged from the attack he received, but he’s just finishing growing a new set of fangs. He should be able to battle by tomorrow.

Mimikyu was saved thanks to the Babiri berry you gave him, if it wasn’t for that chances are that it would had lead to some permanent damage taking in account his previous injuries during the fight at the mall. Even though he should be resting he keeps trying to visit you at the hospital and aid Prince in whatever he needs so he hasn’t rested as much as he should. He should be able fully recovered in 2 days, but he really ought to stop overexerting himself.

[1/2]
>>
>>5037298
Froakie keeps trying to train with Prince and Shear, but the two of them managed to keep him from hurting himself. He’s been a bit more manageable than before, and Gareth believes he’s just acting like he wants to train to keep up appearances. He usually just keeps to himself, sulking in a corner but Prince and Shear make sure to check on him regularly.
He had to go trough surgery after having his limbs broken, his injuries being more serious than the other ones but thankfully not life threatening. Still, he should keep resting for at least other 4 days.

Loudred actually has been out cold for a couple of days, she had to undergo some more invasive surgery to get the bones on her arms back in place and patch up her fractured skull, her injuries were worsened by the fact she kept desperately trying to fight back, damaging her body even further. This process has left her very tired, but she tries to remain optimistic while she goes through physical rehabilitation. While she’s making a very quick recovery considering she got her skull caved in and her arm almost shattered to pieces the doctors at the lab say she should keep resting for a week at least.

“You’ve gotten better at analyzing Pokémon behavior” you comment to the trainer. “Yeah, I gotta keep up with my team, and I had the chance to see all kinds of mons doing odd-jobs”

Turning back to your team you can’t help but feel regret, knowing those injuries happened because of your call. You try to find the correct words to apologize but nothing comes to mind, seeing them like this your mind only draws blanks. There’s nothing you can think of right now to make the situation better. Awkwardly you can only muster to say:

[Percy]: Sorry Guys

They all look at you, your words may not carry much weight but your expression of anguish and guilt is crystal clear.

[Loudred]: Oh, don’t worry Percy, this is j-

Houndour cuts Loudred short, interrupting her with a single look.

[Houndour]: Sorry’s not gonna cut it partner.

He reprimands you in quite a harsh tone, this time not even Mimikyu jumps to your defense. There seems to be an agreement between the members of your team.

[Houndour]:You need to know your battles. OUR battles.
[Houndour]: We weren’t prepared for that.
[Houndour]: If things start to get that dicey, we won’t risk ourselves to lose one of us if we can help it.
[Houndour]: We won’t leave you alone.
[Houndour]: But we’ll drag you kicking and screaming out of danger if we have to.

>A mix of "I thought I had to do something" and "You're right, we weren't ready." But I think Percy's general answer to this is to doubledown on nerd shit and make sure he knows everything he can before going into a fight.

>You're right. We weren't prepared for that, and it was above our paygrade. First off, I want to tell all of you how proud I am of how you handled the situation. Because they were a lot stronger, but we still managed. You all, still managed. That counts for something. But it was a bad idea to go against Cubone Mask. Or, I don't know. It was an emergency situation. I did what I thought was necessary, to help save the lab and its Pokemon. But that was only my responsibility because I chose it to be. I wanted to prove something, too, maybe. That I could be a hero? To get revenge for the mall? I don't know. I did what I thought was best, at the time, but I'm not sure it was anymore. I'm sorry. Even if it doesn't cut it, it doesn't have to for me to be sorry.

>I want to try to get prepared for anything that might happen, going forward. Any of the exceptional foes I might ask you all to face, I want to know everything there is to know about them ahead of time. Because it's not fair to you guys, for me to not put that kind of work in. To ask you to go above and beyond and not know. The Behemoth Vespiquen? I'm going to spend the next two weeks learning everything there is to know about her, about her Combee, about her Beedrill, everything.

>Mimikyu, I think I trust you the most to look after me and keep me honest. If we're in over our heads and I don't see it yet, you make sure I know, okay? Or knock me the fuck out and drag me off.

[Percy]: It’s true. We weren’t prepared for that. I was making you guys punch above our weight.
[Percy]:But even then we still managed, you all, still managed against something on an Elite 4 level.

[Prince]: We only did because we got a counter for a Pokémon 4 times weak against fire.

[Percy]: Still, you guys did it, even though it should have been impossible. We have three badges and you were taking on a Mega-Evolved Scizor, I’m proud of all of you.

Tensions calm down a bit after those words of praise. Houndour eases up a bit dialing back his aggressiveness. Shear basks on the compliment. Froakie tries to dismiss it but he smirks. Loudred smiles confidently and Prince, in particular, seems to take your words to heart taking a moment to reflect on himself.

[Percy]: I did what I thought was necessary to help the Pokémon and the lab.

[Prince]: You really did? Didn’t you think that the other Master, who already had an advantage in the battle couldn’t handle it?

[Percy]: Because that’s what I need to do. To help Vicky, deal with the Behemoths, take down the Queen. I felt that if I couldn’t do something then I wouldn’t be able to do it later down the line, we need to be able to handle these things.

[Percy]: I just wanted to know that we were capable of this, that we’ve grown since we got defeated by those Raticate, or when we had to fight Cubone Mask with the Arsonist.

[Percy]: And maybe I just wanted to play the hero. That’s how I get people to like me, so I feel like I need to keep it up.

[Percy]: I did what I thought was best, at the time, but I'm not sure it was anymore. I'm sorry. Even if it doesn't cut it, it doesn't have to for me to be sorry.

You open up to your mons and tell them how you really feel. They’ve known you long enough to understand you aren’t trying to hide anything from them or rope them up on more trouble, that’s just the way you are.

Houndour sighs, hearing you seem to have cleared any doubts he had on his mind. He has taken a role of leadership with your mon and seems like the only one who would openly speak against you, not to undercut your position as a trainer but out of concern for his fellow mons. His tone changes to the one that’s almost apologetic as he addresses you again.

[Houndour]: Fair enough partner, we just want to be all together to see the end of this journey. That includes you.
[Houndour]: Then what are you planning to do next?

[Percy]: I want to try to get prepared for anything that might happen, going forward. Any of the exceptional foes I might ask you all to face,
[Percy]: I want to know everything there is to know about them ahead of time. Because it's not fair to you guys, for me to not put that kind of work in. To ask you to go above and beyond and not know.

[Percy]:The Behemoth Vespiquen? I'm going to spend the next two weeks learning everything there is to know about her, about her Combee, the other’s Pokémon under her control. The ecology and fauna of the swamp they live in, their habits, weaknesses. ANYTHING that could give us an edge against her.

[Percy]:This won’t repeat then. We’ll be ready for her.

[Percy]: And Mimikyu, I trust you the most to look after me and keep me honest. If we're in over our heads and I don't see it yet, you make sure I know, okay? Or knock me the fuck out and drag me off.

[Mimikyu]: It would be my honor. Master. [/i]

You’d be unnerved at how enthusiastic Mimikyu sounded about the prospect of knocking you out cold to protect you, but you know him well enough to say he’ll always act with your best interest in mind.

Your team seems to be accepting of your apologies and hearing you take responsibility of your actions before going forward and making a conscious effort to be prepared for the threats that loom on the horizon gives them the feeling that they can rely on you.

[Percy]: That’s what you wanted to talk about Houndour?

[Houndour]: Actually, there’s another matter we must discuss.

[Prince]: After that battle, we also realized how underpowered we are, Loudred hurt herself trying to pick up our slack because she knows she’s the strongest of our group.

[Houndour]: And I, no, We, don’t want her carrying that burden. We want to be abl}e to protect her and keep her from being so reckless for the sake of others.

[Prince]: We discussed it and we want to evolve. As soon as possible.

[Houndour]: Shear too, even if she hasn’t mastered Sheer Cold yet, we need all the support we can get.

>Alright, let all three of them evolve. Call Shear to give her the Ice Stone you have.
> ”Are you guys sure about this?” (Try to persuade on holding off the evolution, training will be easier this way)
>Let Houndour and Prince evolve but abstain from evolving Shear.

[Prince]: "I suggested the idea to Houndour."

"I’m still a bit nervous. But this is something I have to do."

"Sooner or later I have to grow up. I can’t keep being babied forever."

"I need to be able to handle this change."

"I won’t change my mind about this Pa."

While the prospect of this sudden change still scares him a little, but the consequences of not doing it scare him even more, he’s resolved to go through it. He tries his best to stand by his decision.

[Houndour]: "Becoming a Houndoom means to attain maturity for us, and I didn’t feel ready for that."

"A leader is much more than what I am right now. So I wanted to master my moves, be stronger, become a better version of myself before undergoing this change."

"But I can’t become a proper pack leader if my pride and insecurities cause my teammates to get hurt, I want to do everything I can to alleviate their burden."

"If I evolved sooner, maybe we’d been able to defeat the Scizor faster and then Loudred wouldn’t be like this."

"Maybe not, but still I’ll do what I must to avoid this happening again. "

"I’m ready for this."

Houndour is even more decided to evolve. His words filled with anger and regret, he blames himself for what happened, probably more than he blames you. He still wants to master “Foul Play” and “Inferno” even if it takes him more time.

You ask them how you can help them evolve, you still got those rare candies in your bags but they tell you they want to battle when Houndour is fully healed and ready for combat. They task you with finding a proper opponent for them. ” Just keep it on our level, I’d prefer to avoid any more lasting injuries ”

>You accepted their request. Find Prince and Houndour battle for tomorrow.

After confirming that you will help them, they ask you if you are going to evolve Shear then. You tell them that you won’t give Shear the Ice Stone just yet, instead, you’ll be focusing on helping her learn Sheer Cold so she can evolve as soon as possible, they don’t seem completely on board with the idea at first preferring to have her evolve sooner before later but Prince comes around arguing that it would be a really useful move to have in hand.

“Just, try to focus on her training. Don’t get too sidetracked pa. Please.” The small electric types asks of you, you promise you’ll try your best to give it all in this task.

>You’ll be helping Vulpix master Sheer Cold.

After all the tense discussions are out of the way you can finally breathe a bit more relaxed, your mons too. Putting those matters aside they seem genuinely relieved to be reunited with you again. Everyone except for one, mostly because you haven’t spent much time with one another. Froakie seems unsure of how to interact with you. The effects of the battle seem to have taken a toll on both his body and psyche, he was close to losing it while fighting and seeing you get hurt, and now his cool and cold façade seems to be slipping more than usual.
How should you approach him?

(One on one time with Froggy boy)

Seems like it’s time for lunch, you call your team to gather around so you can all eat together, with Gareth’s help you serve them a pretty decent sized meal, since your newly acquired sponsors are paying for this food your team can afford to eat without any restraints, even Loudred with her big appetite. Gareth asks you if you want anything from the cafeteria but you tell them you’ll be fine. Truth is, you wanted to taste-proof the Poké-food you bought here with the Aztlan Wildlife Rescue funds they sent your way.

Huh, the taste is alright but the texture is a bit iffy, not bad, just different, less grainy, must be from using more natural ingredients for food, you consider buying more of this local stuff or having it delivered to your home when your journey is over. You notice Froakie looking at you, rather perplexed at the sight of you eating handfuls of organic Poké-Kibble. You adopt the natural position of his species, doing some throat exercises to mimic its croaking sound. “Come here! Let’s all eat together!

He’s gives you a cold shoulder and moves his little food plate farther away from the team, in response you move everyone’s food towards Froakie. He tries to get away but Loudred stops him, he’s too hurt to do anything against it so he resigns himself with a pissed-off expression.

You really ought to stop worrying about things for a moment. Dropping down your body onto the soft, well-kept grass of the fields, it’s soft, fresh, and comfortable. You notice that you are looking even skinnier than usual after being unconscious and fed through an I.V drip for a couple of days. Your arms feel like noodles and even your strong, runner legs feel a bit wobbly. “I really need to start working out. Hey, could you guys help me out there? ”

Shear enthusiastically offers herself to help “Oh! I can do that! Prince and I have been doing something like that. Watch! Heads up Egg-boy!”

She shouts before shooting a barrage of hard, cold Ice Shards towards Prince, the electric type almost automatically barely manages to evade them using Quick Attack to propel himself to the side before countering with a weak barrage of Swift that bop her on her snout and send her tumbling backward.

Nice! I finally got you!” He cheerfully exclaims

Pfft, tough luck! We are still 3 to 1 egg boy!

They seem to be getting along better, being the only ones who didn’t get put out of commission forced them to spend some more time together and work in tandem to support their teammates,
[1/2]

“Yeah, it’s like a game. Alright, you are next Sir Parzival! Ready? Before she can strike you with chunks of sharp ice launched at you at worrying velocities Houndour stops her. “He still needs some rest, and don’t try to impale partner with ice chunks, he’s not that durable.

Despite their protests they seem to agree to help you with your workouts, but only after you aren’t at risk of getting hospitalized again. So for today, they want you to abstain from it.

[Loudred]: Don’t worry Percy! When we are both healed you can join me in jogs! We can also do push-ups together! See who can do more!

[Houndour]: Yeah sure, I’ll chase you around while you do laps.

[Mimikyu]: Prince, could you help me research human diets for muscle growth and improving endurance? I’ll prepare a special menu for you Master.

[Shear]: Sure you don’t want me to shoot Ice-Shards at you to improve your reaction time? I’m pretty good at it.

[Froakie]: Tch, this is pointless.

[Shear]: Oh, he’s doing that tongue-clicking thing again! He’s spent all these days practicing it since he got nothing else to do!

[Froakie]: Are you spying on me? I-I don’t practice it! It’s a natural thing to do!

[Shear]: It’s not! I heard you complaining about how hard it is since your tongue is so long and it didn’t sound cool enough!

[Shear]: By the way, how long is your tongue? I have a bet with Prince.

[Froakie]: Sh-shut up! I’m going back to rest.

[Percy]:Oh, before you go. I wanted to talk to you Froakie.

You do your best to apologize for throwing into the fire like that. But just like the rest of your team, you believe he did great managing the situation. Froakie tries his best to act nonplussed but the topic seems to hard for him deal with.

[Froakie]: I’m still too weak. I need to get stronger, I need more pow-

[Percy]: Nah, you did really good for your first battle. It was my bad to send you there but you managed to evade those strikes!

[Froakie]: Whatev-

[Percy]: No, it was really impressive. I’m sure you’ll become way stronger and faster in no time. Those reflexes were no joke, not everybody can do that in a stressful situation.

[Froakie]: …
[Froakie]: It wasn’t that big of a deal.

He says proudly in an almost demeaning way, still acting like his usual self, arms crossed and glaring at everyone but he stopped trying to leave and instead sits down to enjoy his meal in peace. The bubbles in his chest seem to increase in size and volume before floating up in the air these are quiet, a curious quirk to signal the improvement in his mood, you’ve seen this on other Froakie before.

Hearing this, you automatically assume the worst and proceed to flip out.

[Percy]: THAT BITCH, I THOUGHT SHE WAS DOING BETTER!
[Percy]: We even had some tender moments but SHE’S STILL THE SAME!
[Percy]: I'M GOING TO TAKE SHINJI BACK EVEN IF I HAVE TO FIGHT HER FOR IT!
([Percy]: (Angry Tyrannitar noises)

[Froakie]: No! No! The human, girl, Kali’s fine! Really!
[Froakie]: I mean
[Froakie]: The constant unwarranted affection from her Empoleon. The Tsareena attempts to step on me and Haunter’s annoying pranks were all a headache.
[Froakie]: But she was a fine trainer. She and Arcanine did their best to try and integrate me in the team. Serious, driven, a proper trainer. Even if she didn’t let me train as much as I desired. Forcing me to take breaks.

[Percy]: Huh, really

[Froakie]: She must have noticed my discomfort, once we understood each other enough she asked me if I’d wanted to stay with them or if I wanted to go with another trainer.
[Froakie]: I didn’t want to play second fiddle to her Empoleon so I opted to try my luck.
[Froakie]: While this team is …exasperating in its own right (he looks at Shear while saying this), it is much more manageable.
[Froakie]: Besides, now I have a rival I MUST surpass.

He says glaring intensely at Prince who just waves back a tad smugly.

[Percy]: Well, I’m glad you are fitting in.

[Froakie]: Enough talk, I’m tired.

Froakie goes quiet and focuses on his meal, but he doesn’t go, sitting silently with the rest of the gang, he doesn’t seem uncomfortable. He’s not really the friendly type but it seems you can hold a conversation with him and he is more open to the idea of being in your team. We are making progress, slowly but surely.

You spend a nice morning with your team, despite their injuries their mood isn’t that sour. You were worried they’d want to leave you after what went down but it seems like you are starting to turn into a solid unit.

You really need to have a talk with Eli’s Pokémon, after all, it was your decisions that led them to get injured and from what you’ve heard they are in a generally worse state than your own mons. That tidbit of information coupled with the fact you aren’t their trainer and that Eli is visibly worried about them compels you to ask for forgiveness.
But first, there’s some unfinished business you need to solve. One of the reasons you came to the research center during the attack. The strangely paranoid Kecleon seems to be involved in the wild Pokémon attacks on Silver passage and the outskirts of Silverpoint city. He went missing during the commotion caused by the revolutionaries.

You go looking for the translucid reptile hoping to find him back in his room but you find the place empty, after questioning some employees you learn that he’s been missing since the attack. But they believe he’s still around since they’ve noted trails of crumbs and food sometimes appearing out of thin air around the lab and that Kecleon was the only one with the ability to camouflage this way amongst the other mons they got under observation. You ask them if they got a Devon Scope or any sort of equipment to be able to see him but they say that the only one they got was broken during the scuffle a couple of days ago.

This can’t be good, the way he was acting and screaming worries you. But at the very least he seems to be alive. Using your Poké-knowledge regarding Kecleon you probably can pinpoint the places he’s hiding at but it will be very difficult to corner him without a means to track him. Maybe Houndour could be of assistance, using his Odor Sleuth and tracking abilities could prove useful, you could also order a Devon Scope online and pay extra for some immediate delivery via teleportation. There’s also another option, one of your acquaintances most probably owns a Devon Scope amongst other useful gadgets and has experience tracking Pokémon.

>Call the bounty hunter for aid.

You briefly consider calling Diane for help, she must have a Devon Scope amongst all of her gadgets and knickknacks but you threw that idea through the window. You don't need her aid to track a Kecleon you are a bonafide Pokémaniac and you got your pride! This should be a piece of cake, besides Houndour's keen nose should make this task something trivial. How hard could it be to find a big, red, zig-zagged stripe floating around

Besides Houndour, Prince and Shear join you on your hunt just in case the situation calls for their aid.

After questioning some employees about the location of the crumb trails Kecleon has left behind and searching around the research center for a bit you start to piece together the route he must be following. Starting from the Kitchen, Houndour nary gets a whiff of his scent. "He's been here, but not recently" he must raid the pantry in the middle of the night to avoid getting caught. Houndour tries to follow his trail but it directs him to a ventilation shaft, looking at it up close it seems to be loosened. A small Pokémon could easily crawl inside but for this Kecleon it should be a tight fit.

You ask Houndour if he could enter the ventilation shaft but he refuses, place is a bit too cramped and he really doesn't want to risk getting injured when he's about to make a full recovery. Shear enthusiastically volunteers in his place, she doesn't have "Odor Sleuth" nor is an adept tracker but she can search for other loosened vents.

Taking the trails into consideration, Kecleon seems to frequent a storage room that the workers at the lab don't frequent, an area fitted for grass types in the outside where the tall grass, trees, and weeds provide an excellent cover for him and curiously enough the living quarters of the scientist that reside here. From what you've heard they got a couple of unused rooms around.

You could also wait for nightfall and try to corner him while he does his midnight run for food.

>Send Shear to investigate the vents? Y/N

The Vulpix waste no time entering the vents, “Shear is on the case!” her excited yapping echoing through the ventilatory system followed by the sound of her paws running through the small tunnels growing fainter and fainter. “Don’t get lost!” warns Prince but his advice is either unheard or ignored. Once she’s done, you’ll meet her back in the kitchen.

Deciding to check the less frequented place first you move towards the old storage room, the way here is a bit convoluted, as you approach both workers and Pokémon become less frequent to see. The research center isn’t massive but its layout can prove a bit confusing. After getting some directions from a War Veteran Quagsire who’s been around for a long time you arrived at the place. Located in the furthest part of the ground floor.

It’s a small hallway, the lightbulbs don’t seem to be working and there are no windows, getting darker the further you walk inside, still, you can see well enough to navigate the place. There’s a metal door leading to the storage, seems like it’s unlocked. Taking out your heavy-duty flashlight you illuminate the room searching for a working light switch but just like the rest of the place the lightbulb doesn’t work. The only source of light is a small window where the morning sun is obscured by cobwebs.

There are tons of old equipment stashed away in boxes gathering dust in the medium-sized room. Houndour sniffs the area, he says it’s possible that Kecleon was around but his smell is masked by the remains of tobacco smoke. He tells you that he can hear someone nearing the room, you hide in the dark with Prince and your fire type to avoid startling what you hope is the mon you are looking for. But the steps are heavier, and it’s not only one set but two. The male voices that you hear in the dark tell you that they aren’t who you are looking for.

You try to take a peek at the two men who have entered the room, it’s hard to see but by their outline, they seem to be a couple of Blackstone grunts. One of them takes out a pack of cigarettes and starts to smoke, he offers one to the other, but he vehemently refuses.

[Soft-spoken Grunt]: You know that’s bad for you?

[Rough Grunt]: Everything’s bad for you who cares.

The smoking grunt goes into a coughing fit just after dismissing his coworker’s concern. The non-smoker grunt offers some water to the wheezing security guard. The smoker timidly thanks his partner before trying to smoke again.

[Rough Grunt]: I can believe we got stationed here. I doubt those revolutionaries would try to attack the same place twice. We just stand around being useless.

[Soft-spoken Grunt]: I dunno, this gig seems pretty sweet. I needed to take it easy after what we saw in Lacrimosa Bay.

[Rough Grunt]: Well, it beats working with that asshole Maximillian.
[Rough Grunt]: And yeah, that was some freaky shit. Felt WAY too high level for us. Forget failing to get those documents at the abandoned power plant, and that fight at the mall.
[Rough Grunt]: When they told us they wanted us to traverse a deadly blizzard to reach some island? Way above my paygrade. I swear to God I thought our helicopter was going to crash.

[Soft-spoken Grunt]: You saw that right? That island in the middle of the blizzard, it seemed to move. Almost as if it were alive. I swear I saw a head inside the water…

[Rough Grunt]: You are just tripping, we all saw stuff because of the stress and that intense snowstorm. Still, that sort of stuff isn’t natural.
[Rough Grunt]: What kind of crazy idiot would build something there?

Before they can continue talking about what they saw in the middle of the blizzard at Lacrimosa bay you hear another set of steps. A familiar voice says in a tired but caring tone “They are smoking here again?” sounds like Jeanne. What’s she doing here?

>Kecleon isn’t here. Let’s just leave the room and try somewhere else (where?)
>You want to eavesdrop a little longer. Send Prince to distract Jeanne. (Needs roll)
>No need to be secretive, these guys sound easy to talk to. Just ask them upfront about what they saw in Lacrimosa.

The girl strides forward, her steps quick and decisive as she tries to muster enough courage to chew out the hooligans for smoking during work hours. Even though she doesn’t work at the lab, she’s just nosy. Her Mareep follows suit, puffing up her wool to appear bigger as sparks crackle around her.

[Jeanne]: Y-you guys really need to stop doing this..,

[Rough Grunt]: Oh, hey doll. You still here helping around the lab? We’ve heard that your friend just woke up so we figured out you’d be getting ready to leave.

Her conviction falters with a mere greeting.

[Jeanne]: E-eh. Well. I

[Soft-spoken Grunt]: You managed to talk to him right?

[Jeanne]: Er, well, I saw him…
[Jeanne]: (Sigh) No, I couldn’t…

[Rough Grunt]: You oughta be honest with him. If you never tell him how you really feel you’ll regret it.
[Jeanne]: It’s just, kind of hard? Things have been awkward between us

You interrupt their conversation by revealing your position, standing up, and casually greeting them. “Hey guys, have you seen any Kecleon around!?” For some reason they overreact and proceed to freak out, perhaps you moved to suddenly or you raised your voice a little too much. the guards get their Pokéball ready and Jeanne’s ghost type comes out to defend her, a Mismagius hovers around her most menacingly while a Litwick flame grows bolder to threaten you. “P-Percy?” her words are enough to defuse the situation. Once everyone’s calmer you explain to them the situation.

[Rough Grunt]: Sure, we’ll tell you. For a price.

[Soft-spoken Grunt]: One of our coworkers noticed some rustling in the grass-types area during the early morning.

[Rough Grunt]: C’mon man, I was gonna make him get us some chips.

[Soft-spoken Grunt]: Since the Kecleon’s more active as night he should be resting right now, probably on top of one of the trees.

[Jeanne]: Y-yes. I’ve felt a presence there, didn’t really feel like a Ghost-type but you can tell something is hiding around the place.

[Rough Grunt]: I’ve seen something moving about during sunset too. I guess the Kecleon goes inside the building, to the living quarters once the sun goes down.

>Let’s try to corner the Kecleon while he’s still asleep. Head out to the outside of the complex and search in the area with the lushest vegetation.

Reminiscing to what Kali said about Jeanne checking your body while you were passed out and her insistency on being the one to do it. Truth to be told you are a little concerned by the thought of her doing something to you during your unconscious, vulnerable state.

[Percy]: Hey Jeanne, you didn’t do anything weird to me while I was passed out?

[Jeanne]:…Huh?
The moment you throw your question all color drains from her face. She looks at you with such despair and shame that is palpable. Her face sunk as she tries to keep a smile on her face, but her nervousness distorts it into an anguished, quivering grimace.

[Percy]: Yeah, Kali told me you, checked on me while I was asleep. Just making sure everything is alright.

[Jeanne]: I-I. Uh… Y-you, see. H-h-how do you even define weird, right? That's too vague! Don’t you agree? M-m-misters Blackstone security guards?

[Soft-spoken Grunt]: We are not stepping on whatever this is.

[Percy]: I just wanted to hear a clear no. I’m starting to worry.

The tall slender girl grows more anxious by the millisecond. She stammers strings of barely audible words as she looks desperately for an out of this situation. She reaches down her bag and produces a Pokéball which she lets fall to the floor. From it a scarred Aerodactyl emerges dazed, and confused, he seems to have been in the middle of a nap.

[Jeanne]: Oh no! The Arsonist’s Aerodactyl who I have been taking care of has escaped! He probably wants to rescue his master out of prison or wreak havoc all around town!

She says in the less believable surprised tone you have ever heard. Her movements and speech, forced and stiff to the point of being robotic.

You turn to the Aerodactyl who just shrugs confused. “I don’t know man, don’t look at me I got no answers”. Jeanne nudges him towards the exit, basically pushing the prehistoric mon out of the storage room. “He’s getting away! I hope he doesn’t do anything bad!” She keeps up the painful charade, not so subtly telling the Aerodactyl to kick a trashcan on their way out. “B-but don’t worry Percival. I shall deal with him s-swiftly. I may call Kali if needed. But you should focus on the K-kecleon situation which is MUCH MORE important than whatever we were talking about”

[Mareep]: I’m so. Sorry, it wasn’t anything too bad. Don’t worry too much about it

Her fluffy companion tries to ease your doubts, but it really doesn’t help much to alleviate your suspicions.

The pair of grunts watch in disbelief, one of them is holding his head, this performance was so painful he seems to be experiencing a migraine.

Alright, you wasted enough time already, at least you learned a bit more about Kecleon’s habits. Perhaps this will prove useful in your little hunt. “If you excuse me, I’ve got a Pokémon to question” with this short and dry phrase you bid adieu to the two security guards. You heard them discuss if they should check on Jeanne before she does something stupid out of embarrassment.

Shortly after, whatever that was with Jeanne you return to the kitchen. You call Shear through the ventilation system and it doesn’t take her long to return. “Hey! Where were you? I scouted the hell out of this place! Oh, and I found this! ” your teammate hands you an old rusted key, there’s a keychain attached to it, yellowed by the passage of time, the letters on it are barely legible. “Sunset hotel. Come home to us!” Shear tells you that she found it in a stash of berries and leftover food in one of the unused rooms whose door was barred.

>Obtained, Old Keychain.

Praise my scouting skills, Sir Parzival!” she sounds really proud of herself.

Following the trail of crumbs, Kecleon left she has been able to figure the usual route he takes. Knowing this it could be easy to corner him while he tries to move around the facility, but since it’s still early he should be sound asleep outside.

You should…

>Let’s try to corner him as he enters the vent closest to the outside. Prince can try to Paralyze him.
>Send both Vulpix and Prince into the vents in an attempt to corner him.
>Have one of them wait in the unused room while the other one keeps guard in the storage room.

Time to get some answers out of this Kecleon. With his escape routes accounted for and mapped out you feel like you got a good chance to corner in case he tries to escape. Exiting the building and heading to the area where the Grass types roam you follow Houndour as he tries to follow the trail of the neurotic mon’s scent. There’s a group of frail-looking Ivysaur basking in the sunlight, the flower on their back, the flowers on their back seems underdeveloped, damaged, and atrophied, probably rescued from some precarious breeding facility. And old, seemingly blind Bellosom slowly makes her way to the shade of a tree to rest her weary body, a trio of young Oddish watch over her.

Houndour's keen sense of smell directs him to one of the lushest trees whose leaves have started to turn to a red shade prematurely. Two Rowlett sleep peacefully on its branches, you and your team approach carefully to avoid startling anyone, as you get closer you can barely make the outline of a red zig-zagged stripe shifting around the leaves. It’s the Kecleon, since it hasn’t tried to run away or hide between the leaves, he must still be out cold, the only movement he does comes from his breathing. This could be your chance.

>Try to approach him peacefully and get him to talk. (Needs Roll)
>Have Shear and Prince use Ice Shard to knock him down the tree and Quick Attack to wrestle him to submission.
>Use Thunder Wave on him before he wakes up.
>Send Shear and Prince to wait for him inside the vents, make a racket to prompt Kecleon to escape, and have your mons subdue him once he’s cornered.

All right, just give me the order and I’ll ice him to the bone” Shear whispers in an excited tone, almost bloodthirsty so. But you should really refrain from any sudden violence. This is a rehabilitation center after all, and the Pokémon here should be pretty shaken up after the attack from the revolutionaries. This includes Kecleon who despite his troublesomeness is still a patient.

“Let me talk to him first” you tell the Vulpix to stand down and refrain from any sudden attacks.
“Aww, I wanted to shoot my Ice Shards” Shear sighs disappointed,

Shaking off all tension off your body you crouch slightly an adopt a Kecleon standard standing pose doing some throat exercises to properly vocalize the reptilian sounds of its species. Putting yourself close to the vibrant green grass to make yourself stand out more, just like the Pokémon does when he wants to appear open and non-threatening.
The Sleeping Kecleon wakes from its slumber as he hears you approaching, bolting up and scaring the Rowlett away, he analyzes the situation with caution to see how can he make his escape. Slowly you take a step back to let him know you don’t have no intention to be forceful
Hey, I don’t want to hurt you. I just want to learn if I can help you
“C’mon let’s talk. “
“What are your intentions? Just what are you trying to do? Who sent you?!” The Kecleon keeps its distance, still distrustful. Hanging to the branches of the tree, he slowly approaches you, dropping his camouflage and revealing his green scales which seem paler compared to a healthy, normal mon of its species.

[Percy]: First things first, how are you holding up? I see you started to eat again. I’m glad.

[Kecleon]: …
[Kecleon]: I’m feeling better. My mind feels clearer but, things feel off.
[Kecleon]: Those humans with their weapons and the sleeping gas.
[Kecleon]: Everything happened so suddenly, it snapped me out of the trance I was.
[Kecleon]: I was scared of something in front of me instead of... that thing in my head
[Kecleon]: The stress made me snap and before I knew it, I was running away, but the thing is. I don’t have anywhere to go.
[Kecleon]: I was starving but I didn’t want to return to that room with the humans in lab coats, so I resorted to stealing food.

[Percy]: Why did you do that? Did they do anything bad to you?

[Kecleon]: No, they wanted to help. But I feared that if they knew I was alright they return me to where they found me.
[Kecleon]: My thoughts, my memories are all fuzzy. Like a dream you can’t quite recall!
[Kecleon]: But I feel like I should never go back there, to that place, that city. Silverpoint, that name makes me shiver.
[Kecleon]: It feels like a nightmare now. I can’t sleep at night no more. The darkness terrifies me. That’s why I sleep here under the sunlight.

Once he finally managed to talk everything comes out, he’s been holding back a good deal of stuff. He looks like a mess, recounting this experience makes him tremble to the point you fear he’ll fall down the tree, he makes himself small, hugging his knees tightly like a scared child, while camouflaging out of instinct as a response of his deep-seated fears.

The only humans we know that can talk to and understand Pokemon are us or Aleida. Somebody knows who we are and is planning something clearly horrific for these mons. What do you guys think?
>>
>>5047212
We did intern at Blackstone for a day as well.
>>
On the day of the attack, Kecleon, amidst his nervous breakdown said something that caught your attention. “A human that can understand us, just like she said” Is whoever behind what’s happening at Silver Passage, the Pokémon attacking and abducting humans. Do they know about you? What do they want? Are they searching for you or have already found you? Is it you in particular or they are just looking for people who can communicate with mons?

There are too many questions, you need to get more information before you start making conjectures. First things first, you want to know more about whoever told this to Kecleon.

You approach the trembling creature, continuing the questioning before he regresses back to his catatonic state.

[Percy]: You mentioned a “She” who was looking for someone like me, that can communicate with you, is she human or Pokémon?

He has trouble coming up with an answer, not because he wants to hide things, he can’t remember. You see his expression of complete confusion as he tries to recall memories that aren’t there anymore. He struggles to the point of pain trying to fill in those holes in his memories, trying to see past the haze that clouds his mind. He grabs his head in exasperation as he tries to make sense of his thoughts.

[Kecleon]: I, think she was human, she looked human.

[Percy]: Did she mention any names? Was she looking for anyone in particular?

[Kecleon]: I can’t remember her words clearly, but no, she wasn’t searching. She was waiting. As if, as if she knew what would happen… or thought that she knew

[Kecleon]: I don’t know why, but she was convinced, that someone like you would come to her.
[Kecleon]: The missing piece of… something I can’t recall, something I don’t want to remember

[Percy]: Do you remember anything else? Her name? What did she look like?

[Kecleon]: A woman, a girl, can’t see her clearly. Not a child, not old… Youthful…
[Kecleon]: Her clothes under the robe were… made of us? No, it looked like us…or was she one of us? No, she was human. But she sometimes looked like us, just barely.

[Kecleon]: Her face, her voice, everything is blurred out…

[Kecleon]: No. You need to stay away from her.
[Kecleon]: Rusted nails painted in deep crimson
[Kecleon]: Hooded figures swaying pendulums.
[Kecleon]: And in the center of it all.
[Kecleon]: That thing.
[Kecleon]: That accursed thing.
[Kecleon]: She was the closest to it, to that, that thing
[Kecleon]: That thing.
[Kecleon]: I can still feel it gazing at me
[Kecleon]: With that unnatural red eye.
[Kecleon]: There’s no escape from it

[Kecleon]:.
[Kecleon]:..
[Kecleon]: …
[Kecleon]: A field of Oran berries.
[Kecleon]: It smells so sweet.
[Kecleon]: But it’s all rotten.
>>

Kecleon's gaze is lost in the sky, staring at nothing. Completely unresponsive. You try to ask him more questions but he’s completely out of it, he doesn’t react to anything. Even as he loses his balance and falls from the tree, he doesn’t act. Prince has to catch him in the nick of time rather forcefully, but Kecleon remains in its catatonic state. Whatever tampered with his mind had a long-lasting effect on him.

Seems like there are more threats looming in the distance. Another reason to prepare for the trials that stand in your way. To save those who you promised to, help those who need you, and maybe figure out just what the hell is going on in the region. Whatever awaits at Silverpoint, probably means danger.

Even in your current state, you aren’t sure if you can allow yourself to rest.

It'll be interesting to see how these come to play in the future.

And now a couple of questions!

>What is Percy's current state of mind and thoughts after all the shit he's gone through this past few days? What worries him?
>What do you think is this Pokémaniac most shameful secret?
>>
>>5047826
1. He's worried, ashamed, and determined to try to make things right going forward. I think he's internalized the lack of preparation and is really going to double down on research and study, both against specific opponents and in general. So, not just learning someone's roster and making sure he's got coverage, but trying to learn the specific Pokemon's weaknesses, and playing to those. Huge difference between knowing the enemy has a Heracross, and knowing that that particular Heracross focuses on flipping opponents away and hates getting his shell dirty.

2. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure it's that he's jacked off to Gardevoirs or something. I don't know, maybe something more obscure, maybe he thinks Gardevoirs are for plebians, but as much as I hate it I think Percy likes drawings of sexualized Pokemon. Nothing 3D at least, that draws a line. He doesn't actually want to fuck a Pokemon. He just finds some of them attractive.
>>
>>5047826
>What is Percy's current state of mind and thoughts after all the shit he's gone through this past few days? What worries him?
After the adrenaline high came down, and he woke up, he's disappointed in himself for running against a opponent much further up the food chain than his team. Guilt for getting his girlfriend and her Mons in grave danger he couldn't handle, and all the Mons involved being so gravely injured that anything went wrong, he could never take them back. And Shame for knowing that no matter what, with or without them, he'd jump into the fire again. And is running plans in his head for not just his Mon's training to improve them as efficiently as they can, but training his body and mind to deal with these Behemoths, these Corporate armies, and fighting to win every fight he can by teaching his team the weaknesses of any Pokemon they can fight, and any trainer they come against. He knows he needs results to make things right, and he won't stop with a few broken ribs to fix things.

He sometimes thinks if it wasn't for Eli, the kind of sick freak he'd be if he didn't get better at talking to people and get friends. Right now though, asking for help dealing with the country wide shitshow by himself, and feeling shame he is going to ask them to jump in that fire again with him.

A mix of sad, depressed and disappointed about himself for fucking up this hard but also a mix of happy and relieved his friends and poke friends are still with him.

>>What do you think is this Pokémaniac most shameful secret?
He probably used his allowance to commission some stuff were his OC who doesn't look like him at all, had a lot of sexy girlfriends who cosplayed as pokemon, also he wishes Eli would cosplay for him as well.

We've been through this, Percy can actually hear the effects of abuse from Pokémon themselves, and probably has too. Do you really think that whenever he spots an r34 pic on a vp thread his mind doesn't wander to whatever critter told him about their former master who got handsy with it? Do you think THAT gets him off?

After questioning Kecleon you find yourself with more questions than answers. You know something is going down in Silverpoint City and Silver passage, something bad. And someone is waiting for you there, or at least another person with your communication abilities but all you learned about this mysterious figure is that she’s probably female, a human, close to your age and she’s deeply tied to whatever is going down in there.

Also, her appearance is somehow related to Pokémon? And some nonsense about Oran berries field, perhaps she’s located in a farm of sorts? That doesn’t really narrow it down. Better keep your eyes open for anything.

Prince throws the unconscious Kecleon over his shoulder, he turns his head towards you, and in a slightly concerned tone he asks “What should we do with him?

>Search for a lab worker and leave Kecleon with him.
>Bring the unconscious mon along.
>Look for Dr.Aspen and bring him directly to her.

And after that…
>Look for Eli and her mons, you still gotta apologize to them.
>Search for Jeanne in town, you are worried she’ll do something dumb after your awkward encounter.
>Give the Claydoll you took from CUBONE MASK to Dr. Aspen, she’ll probably know what to do with him.

You feel it would be for the best to leave Kecleon directly to Dr. Aspen, you can make use of the trip and hand her the terrorist’s Claydoll you’ve got in your possession and maybe see how the antidote for the Queen’s mind control pheromones is coming along. You also contact some of your friends to keep an eye on Jeanne in case she does something dumb out of embarrassment. Neither Gareth nor Dick seem to want to deal with her after what happened at the beach but Kali comes to your aid.

(ONLINE)
[Percy]: ...Yeah, she went to town with the Arsonist’s Aerodactyl. Could you keep her out of trouble?
[Kali]: Goddamit. I’m on it.
[Percy]: Thanks a Poké-bunch

Makin your way through the facility after getting directions from some of the Poké-patients you find Dr. Aspen cooped up in one of the labs, alongside her is Professor Maple who seems to be aiding her mentor on this matter.

There are almost a hundred test tubes lined up on the table on the desk she’s working on, all labeled and positioned in an orderly fashion while she elegantly messes with the contests of another small glass container. She moves with an almost clinical elegance, focused on the task at hand while ordering Maple to input data, for all the materials she’s handling her work area is impressively clean and orderly to the point of being fastidious. The whole lab looks like this with an exception being Professor Maple's little corner which is littered with scrambled notes and papers as she struggles to keep up with the doctor.

In another corner of the lab is a Parasect sitting idly in a transparent container of sorts., its empty, dead eyes follow you through the room acknowledging your presence. There are some electrodes plugged on his body and a strange device connected to its Tochukaso mushroom, it seems to be measuring something. Is he being used for testing?

You are a bit nervous since she sounded pretty pissed at you when you talked on the phone, but she’s the first one to talk.

“I’d ask if you shouldn’t be recovering at the hospital, but honestly I’m not surprised,” Aspen says in a dry almost aggressive tone without turning back to see you. She doesn’t move her sights from her work until she’s finished.

“Oh, you’ve found the Kecleon, I’m grateful, we’ve had our hands full with the reconstruction of the lab and the Behemoth situation” Her mood seems improved to a more professional albeit serious one. You explain how you found it and how it reverted back to its catatonic state after your questioning feeling a bit guilty about that bit. She thanks you again for bringing him back and tries to ease your worries about its state “Don’t preoccupy yourself too much, we’ll manage to bring him back to normalcy now that we know a bit more about his situation, now, what business you have here Percival? I do not wish to sound rude but we are quite busy at the moment.”

You hand the Elite 4 the Pokémon the terrorist was trying to use to flee, Aspen seems surprised, or at least as surprised as her almost expressionless face lets her. Maybe that’s why she’s so disconcerting when angered since she doesn’t show much emotion normally.
“I didn’t expect that. Thanks, Percival. At the risk of being too privy. May I ask, why did you bring him to me? If you got something like this in your hands, I’d expect you to try and get information out of him and embark yourself on a suicide mission to the base of the revolutionaries”

“I apologize if I’m being too presumptuous, it’s just that our last meeting left a strong impression on me.”

She doesn’t seem to hold you in the highest regard.

>”I just want to take it easy for a bit, avoid trouble for a while”

[Dr. Aspen]: What I’m understanding is that you’ll keep putting yourself in danger for the sake of others

[Percy]: I don’t think I can stop myself at this point
[Percy]: But I don’t want to endanger others, nor that my actions are all for naught.
[Percy]: So next time, I’ll be prepared.

[Dr. Aspen]: I see that I can’t dissuade you from partaking in these risks. But I want to remind you, there’s a fine line between bravery and recklessness. You can’t help anyone if you are dead. And most importantly putting yourself in danger puts everyone around you in the same position.

[Dr. Aspen]: You need to learn how to balance it or you’ll either walk a lonely path or one where your steps are sullied by the blood of those close to you.

[Percy]: I, I’ll try my best.
Her words almost make you choke.

[Percy]: Hey, do you mind if I ask a question?

[Dr. Aspen]: It’s only fair, I believe

[Percy]: Why were the revolutionaries looking specifically for you? Kidnapping an Elite 4 seems like whole lotta trouble. Why not go for another researcher?

Aspen seems uncharacteristically unsure for a moment. She seems to have the answer to your question but is debating herself if she should tell you and to what extent. In a moment of doubt, she turns to her protégé, Maple who only nods to let her know that you are trustworthy. Aspen takes a deep breath and braces herself to tell you the truth.

[Dr. Aspen]: My research has been mostly focused on Pokémon rehabilitation, both physical and mental. Psychiatry, the development of prosthesis. Hardly anything useful to wage an armed conflict.

[Prof. Maple]: But very useful in a general sense of things ma’am! You are not the leading scientific mind of our region for nothing! Despite what anyone at White Veil might say!

[Dr. Aspen]: I appreciate the compliment Maple, I was fishing for it.

[Prof. Maple]: I know ma’am

[Dr. Aspen]: But, when I was working with White Veil my research was VERY different. That’s probably why they were here.

[Percy]: Can I ask about it?

[Dr. Aspen]: Perhaps it’s for the best I explain, considering the pertinence of the subject to what transpired.

[1/2]
>>
>>5055417
Aspen start to tell you about her work before the rehab center. When she finally got her big break at White Veil, she was leading research on how to control Pokémon using psychic energy waves, mind control. She and another researcher were spearheading the project, looking for a way to have complete control over Pokémon actions in masse.

[Dr. Aspen]: I was too focused on if it could be achievable, on the benefits it would bring to the region.

[Dr. Aspen]: That I completely ignored if we should be going through it. I was blind to all the abuses, the inhuman things we did to the creatures, to the Pokémon. The sacrifices, the pain we inflicted, the cruel testing only done to fill spreadsheets with data.

[Dr. Aspen]: I left the research and White Veil when the experimentation started to involve humans, children.

[Dr. Aspen]: I tried to stop it, decry it as immoral, inhumane, but the other lead researcher wouldn’t stop at anything. He was obsessed with exercising control over Pokémon no matter what.

[Dr. Aspen]: He said it was our duty to reclaim or place as the governing species of this world. The man was. Unhinged for a better word. That Orizaba bastard.

[Dr. Aspen]: Now I realize how hypocritical I was. All those things that made me retch and denounce the cruelty when performed on fellow humans, all of those I did to Pokémon without batting an eye.

[Dr. Aspen]: I’m not proud of what I did. But I won’t deny it.

[Dr. Aspen]: That’s one of the reasons why I opened this place, why I climbed through the ranks as a trainer to one day have enough influence to denounce what White Veil has done.

[Dr. Aspen]: I understand if you think less of me now. But that’s the truth and I can do nothing about it except move forward.

>Thanks for your honesty. (Go on your way to Eli)
>” Orizaba? Are you familiar with Kali or Victoria Orizaba?”
>Retire respectfully. Even though can’t help but feel a bit disgusted at Aspen.

Mentally, you ask Victoria if she’s okay with you mentioning her and Kali, this seems important.

[Victoria]: Actually, I want to hear more about this.
Her words send a chill down your spine. There’s something disconcerting with her feelings.

[Percy]: Do the names Kali or Victoria Orizaba ring any bells?
[Dr. Aspen]: Kali, that was the name of his daughter, the final subject. But who is Victoria?

b][Percy]: Her younger sister.
[Dr. Aspen]: Are you implying…?
[Dr. Aspen]: No, he couldn’t.
[Dr. Aspen]: He did it again!?

The Doctor grits her teeth with rabid anger. She clenches her fist before slamming it on the desk with rage. It makes Professor Maple jump on her seat.

[Dr. Aspen]: That GODDAMN ASSHOLE!

[Professor Maple]: M-ma’am please calm down.

It takes Aspen a moment, as she starts to pull her hair in frustration while pacing around the room to calm down, but she manages to recompose herself

[Dr. Aspen]: I apologize, I let my anger get the best of me.

She informs you a bit more about what happened back then. Kali wasn’t born with psychic abilities, but her father, Dr. Orizaba believed she had the potential to develop them. Once his research started yielding results, he performed the “procedure” on his daughter.

“Did you know about this?” You ask the psychic girl via your connection with her. No, I didn’t. I believed we were born like this. Victoria sounded both sad and preoccupied when she told you this.

Dr. Aspen tells you that her research was mainly focused on amplifying the effects of psychic waves on the brains of Pokémon. Make it so you could easily control dozens, hundreds, or more with a single psychic emitter. Could the revolutionaries have a psychic on their side? Or technology similar to what White Veil had? The two of you muse how they could have gotten their hands on it but can’t come up with a definite answer.

On your way out you try to communicate with the Parasect they got in the lab, just to make sure they aren’t treating inhumanely, he seems to be in a good shape, not visibly injury or damage besides some scrapings of its Tochukaso mushroom that the doctor is analyzing.

[Parasect]: WE DON’T UNDERSTAND
[Parasect]: WE ARE IN NO DANGER
[Parasect]: HUMAN WON’T HURT US
[Parasect]: WE HELPING

While you excel at communicating with most Pokémon, communicating with a Parasect can be challenging, its body is just a husk for the mushroom controlling it. Its mind is eroded by the spores and fungi now deeply intertwined with its flesh, muscles, organs, and nervous system. The mushroom doesn’t seem to have much capacity for abstract thinking or language, using only the remains of Parasect’s mind.

>It’s just nature running its course. And it’s still better than the mons revived from Galarian fossils.
>It may be not scientific nor logical, but Parasect chimeric mind freaks you out.
>Honestly, it’s strangely fascinating, what is truly the Pokémon? The body? The mushroom? It fills your head with scientific curiosity.

Truth to be told you are fascinated by the Paras evolutionary process, the changes on the host body are minimal, instead is the fungi lifeform the one that goes through the most extreme changes, overtaking completely the mind of the Bug-type instead of just influencing its behavior.

“Prior to the evolution the Paras and the Mushroom are both separate lifeforms in a parasitic relationship but once it evolves the Tochukaso Mushroom takes the reigns of the body almost completely, while a part of the Paras psyche remains there to aid with more complex functions the fungi is the one calling the shots. Should we consider the Tochukaso mushroom a Pokémon in their own right? Is the body of the Parasect still considered a sentient being? While it remains unresponsive if you take the mushroom out it will continue to move once it regrows or if another Tochukaso is implanted into it, fusing with the remains of the prior Tochukaso that have ingrained with the Parasect entrails. What level of consciousness does the mushroom hold on its own, then we have to ask….”

[Prince]: Pa, you are rambling out loud again.

[Percy]:Huh, didn’t notice.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” You ask Aspen whose fixated her gaze on you, with an expression of thinly veiled confusion and worry.

[Dr. Aspen]: You just reminded me of [someone] don’t worry about it.

On your way to Eli’s location, you kept thinking about the Parasect for a while, even though its process of evolution may disconcert some, and even you consider it a bit unnerving it’s just nature running its course. Not like the Pokémon revived from Galarian fossils, those are way much worse. At least the Parasect seems to be in some form of unison with the parasitic mushroom, what they did to them. Playing mix and match with their bodies, breeding them once they proved to be adequate battlers. It’s upsetting to say at least and communicating with them, it’s just a bad experience. The mixed body language of a mind trying to move body parts that aren’t their own, desperately trying to make sense of their own body, it’s unnerving.

Eli is currently in a room fitted for physical therapy along with her team. Her Pokémon are in a rough shape, Jaws and Tremor are both wearing casts to keep them from further injuries, Tomie still got a neck brace after the strike she received from Scizor, Avenger trash-like skin has been patched up with grafts of a suitable material and he seems to be very careful while moving to avoid rupturing itself, Friday the Honedge is still recovering her original form after being heavily dented during the assault. They all seem to be recovering but they got ways to go. In general, they are in a worse state than most of your team, barring Loudred.

“C’mon man, small steps take it easy.” Eli helps her Trubbish move around the small room and do light exercises to recover muscle strength. “We’ll try to produce more poison today aight? But don’t push yourself too hard” She tries to motivate him and keep his spirits up best she can. “And you two dumbasses take it easier! You’ll injure yourself again!” She reprimands Tremor and Jaws who are trying to lift some pretty heavyweights with their usable limbs.

“Hey, weirdo! What’s-” before she can finish acknowledging you her Doublade floats up from her resting place, unsheathing itself and flying towards you at a worrying speed, the blades pointing at your chest with the apparent intention to impale you.

You're Percival William, an autistic teenager with the ability to communicate with Pokemon on your Pokemon Adventure through the region of Atzland- read Not!Mexico. Of course- Nothing is this simple. There's two major corporations we need to prevent from merging, Blackstone Security and White Veil Labs, two of which our companions are children of the top brass. A psychotic and psychic little girl lives in our head. There's genetically engineered Pokemon to surpass Metal Gear we either need to ally ourselves with or subdue. And to top it all of there's a bunch of communist revolutionaries that want to secede from the North.
Oh yeah, it's all coming together.

You know who I kinda miss? Good ol’ Agent W. Out of all the adults we’ve met in this quest (not counting our parents), he’s basically the first to support us in the struggle of wanting to do good in ways only we can while also understanding that we’re trying to get through adolescence in one piece. When it all became too much for us to juggle, and we just wanted to prioritize being "normal" for an afternoon, he was proud of us and had our back. Dude knows we can’t help ourselves most of the time but that we also keep trying anyway. W was a good guy. Also, apparently the steel-shifted ditto gag would have been literal nightmare fuel for Percy... imagine trying to be normal in a world where your autistic paranoia could actually be the truth all along.

As the sharp twin blades of the Pokémon race towards your chest in a most dangerous fashion, your first instinct is to try and reason with her. You are not about to throw down with Eli’s injured Pokémon. Instead, you hold up your hands, surrendering yourself trying to appear as non-threatening as possible. You try to dialogue with the most confident and calm voice you can muster, “Hey! Calm down! What’s wrong?” but you can’t help but be a little jumpy, as you are about to be stabbed once again.

She stops herself, her blade inches away from your body, Prince, Houndour and Shear all seem ready to jump to your defense as sparks crackle and embers fly signaling how they are prepared to throw down, but you tell them otherwise. Jaws and Tremor, the pair of crocs have rushed to your side as fast as their hurt bodies let them and try get their teammate to “CHILL THE FUCK OUT” and “Refrain from slashing the throat of Boss´ boy-toy” Eli followed behind them and is trying to get Friday away from you with all her strength but the Pokémon is livid enough to ignore all of them.

[Friday]: I’ll tell you what’s wrong.
[Friday]: This isn’t how it was supposed to be, I shouldn't have to fight for my life anymore! Things were meant to be less perilous. To be better.
[Friday]: And you sent us, you sent HER to fight against something that could have easily killed us if it chose so.
[Friday]: If you desire to die so badly so, be it!
[Friday]: But gamble your own life alone, not ours

[Eli]: Friday!
Her voice is loud but strained. Nevertheless, it finally reached her companion.

[Eli]: Stop it.
[Eli]: I get it
[Eli]: But I am responsible for that shitshow as much as him. I answered the call and sent you guys out to fight.
[Eli]: It’s as much my fault as his, so take if you are gonna start some shit, start with me first, aight?

The Doublade takes a moment to deliberate her words before sheeting herself and leaving you alone. It still glares at you with its cold, shiny eyes, letting you know that she only stopped herself out of consideration for her trainer before turning away.

Eli looks so confident, at least at first sight but the more you look at her the more obvious it is that she’s not doing so hot, as she growls frustrated at the outburst of her Doublade the more tense and tired she appears. Heavy bags under her eyes, just reprimanding her Pokémon seem to take a toll on her, she looks paler and skinnier than usual. Her bravado is not enough to hide the fact that she seems a bit weaker than usual. The stress of the situation, of her team being hurt and you getting hospitalized seems to have taken a toll on her mental fortitude.

You interrupt Eli as she tries to get her Doublade to understand she shouldn’t try to impale her boyfriend

[Percy]: I’m not a boy-toy.
You state almost sheepishly, the eyes of Eli’s team and the trainer are onto you.
Shaking off any lingering feelings of inadequacy caused by the remark You plant yourself firmly in place, pulling out all the confidence you’ve gained at this point

[Percy]: I’m a man.

[Percy]: And I came here to apologize, not just to Eli but to all of you.
[Percy]: Friday is right, I jeopardized everyone’s safety. I was the one who called everyone into action without preparing or thinking about the situation.
[Percy]: I’ll probably kept getting into things like that, but next time it will be different.
[Percy]: My team and I, we’ll be prepared to take on whatever the world throws at us next, and if we aren’t, we’ll find a way to deal with it

>” I hope you can keep supporting us. We can’t do this alone” (A display of weakness)
>” That way, I won’t endanger you nor Eli again. We’ll be strong enough to stand on our own” (Not knowing one’s limits)
>” And we’ll need your help along the way. So, I need you to trust me.” (An unreasonable request)
>” So you can count on us to protect you, this won’t happen again. I promise” (An impossible promise)

[Percy]: Still I can’t promise this won’t happen again, but I’ll do everything I can so it doesn’t

Your confidence wanes away as reality hits you in the face, no matter how prepared you are you know you’ll keep involving yourself in this type of situation. A little disheartened you explain to Eli and her team that there are still things you need to deal with, most notably the situation with the Vespiquen Behemoth.

[Eli]: You still plan to take on her?
She asks, sounding quite worried.

[Percy]: Yeah, it’s something I have to do.

[Jaws]: HEY!
[Jaws]: WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THAT GOOD SHIT ABOUT BEING A MAN?
Jaws hits you in the back rather forcefully, while Tremor places his claw on your shoulder, trying to raise your confidence albeit in a rather forceful manner.

[Tremor]: If boss trusts you, then we’ll do it as well.
[Jaws]: WE GOT YOUR BACK

[Tremor]: Yeah, you are all right. We ride together, we die together.

[Jaws]: THIS IS NOTHING, WE CAN TAKE A BEATING OR TWO.

The pair of crocs have placed their faith in you, proving yourself as a worthwhile trainer and man to Eli makes you one in their eyes as well. After letting you know they can count on you they proceed to try and harass Prince a little. “YOU THINK YOU CAN HANDLE KEEPING UP WITH US, RUNT?” But instead of cowering like usual he accepts their challenge “I’m as ready as pa, I can handle this” the delinquent-like mons laugh cheerfully at the declaration, “SEEMS LIKE EGG BOY FINALLY GROW A PAIR” they seem to have gained a bit of respect towards Prince.

Friday keeps her distance from you and your teams, still glaring at you with anger, only holding back in consideration of her trainer, Avenger stays by her side attempting to calm her impotent rage, he has a soothing presence for a Trubbish.

Tomie the Salazzle seems to be on the fence on this issue, she’s not as accepting of you as the Tremor and Jaws, but she doesn’t seem to have such murderous ill will as Friday, instead, she humors Shear as she asks for advice to “Learn her bewitching ways in the art of seduction”

And Eli is trying to hold it all together but she’s obviously quite tired and stressed.

Now, who do you spend time with?
>Jaws, Tremor, and Prince. The two crocs seem to like you the best and Prince’s change in demeanor seems to have impressed them.
>Tomie and Shear, you want to learn more about Eli’s newest team member.

>>
>>5061549
Nah, if anything the crocs seem to have liked we showed some backbone earlier. The rest is most the same, right now all we need to do is help Eli to relax a bit.
>>
>>5061552
>>5061554
It looks like everyone is just coming to terms with the reality- that indeed- we just don't give a fuck.
Might have to do with childhood trauma and overall low self-esteem.

>Eli, you just want to check on your girlfriend.

>>5061557
Percy was naturally a good kid, but being left isolated for so long then getting slingshotted into having friends, a girlfriend, and being an undercover super hero fighting terrorists made him go full Child Soldier with it until he couldn't balance the lifestyle. Charging the Terrorist boss cinched it in his head he needs to reevaluate. But think of Eli, and our friends, they know Percy is crazy, and then he pulls this stunt and has been in a hospital bed for it for quite some time. We may be the most sane, but it's a high functional crazy, not actual sanity.
>>
>>5061559
Honestly, I'm surprised we haven't experienced some sort of emotional whiplash where we just need to be alone for some time- maybe that'll happen when they get frisky.
>>
>>5061561
I don't think that will happen, at least with Percy. ALL his options are on how to continue his war, either himself or someone else till he gets back on the Tauros. Stopping does not enter his heads, its go only, just how fast he goes, and his friends are connecting those dots too.
>>
>>5061549
>Is it just me or does it feel like we lost a point on the heart meter with everyone?
The Victoria Larvitar mutilation was a "lose heart meter point" moment too. Don't forget that.

>>5061557
You could chalk that up to quest protagonist syndrome, where players generally play high risk and little regard for consequences.

>>5061568
Well when the conspiracy is this shit-sinkhole deep on all fronts, and real honest-to-Arceus legendaries might be involved, and there's lots of information and research and human/mon lives on the line... what else are we gonna do as an outsider in the know and who mostly knows right from wrong?
>>

Can't stop won't stop, and Eli is picking that signal up.
>>
Part of our hero bullshit absolutely comes from being a loner weirdo that suddenly feels the incredible need to protect and provide for his friends. But I think an equally important aspect is Percy being in a unique position of being able to understand Pokemon, which allows him to attempt to resolve issues diplomatically. He loves Pokemon, he understands them on a deep and personal level, and there are forces in the world that will operate against them if he doesn't intervene. Blackstone and Whiteveil are going to do the shit they do regardless of Percy. Other people could conceivably step in. But they won't get as much information, and they won't have the same concerns for the Pokemon involved.
>>
>>5062108
In the real world, people are useless and impotent and we have no real choice outside of being forced to "leave things to the experts"... but here in this quest where Pokemon and cool japanese anime shit and other things exist, there's more options available for the average person. Percy can leave this whole Blackstone/WhiteVeil debacle to the experts, with stronger mons, more coordination, a wider network, and more resources to draw upon. However, who's to say they'll get anything done in time before it's too late? They could rightfully all be in the pockets of Blackstone/WhiteVeil for all we know, and the few truly reliable and non-corrupt people could already be under lots of pressure from everything else against them. It isn't a retarded conspiracy theory or anything dumb like flat earth either, because in this quest Percy actually has documents and tangible evidence of something negative and malicious being done by corporations and people in power. This naturally makes everybody in the know a liability, and we all know corporations and powerful people will always try to kill anybody in those positions they don't like, even in real life.

So what's the solution here? Is abandoning this entire conspiracy plot just to focus on the pokemon journey and training even a valid option anymore, not just for Percy and the other characters but for us anons playing this quest? Do we ignore all these plot hooks and interesting things, leave it all to resolve offscreen however the dice fall? What do we do from here on out?
>>
>>5062117
I mean I disagree with your first two points, that in the real world people can't make a difference, and that in this Quest there are people better suited to the task than Percy regardless of their skill or resources, because none of them will be able to speak to Pokemon directly to solve issues. I never even suggested that we abandon the plot line. I'm just trying to expand on Percy's motivations as we move forward through them-- a belief that he is uniquely capable of solving the current problems through diplomatic means.

Eli’s team seems to have accepted your apology, for the most part. While her Pokémon and yours get along with each other you approach the stressed-out trainer who’s currently slumping on of the walls of the lab seemingly lost in thought, once she notices you approaching she tries to shake it off before acknowledging you rather awkwardly.

[Eli]: So… you are definitely not stopping?

[Percy]: Yeah, sorry.
You apologize guiltily,

[Eli]: Eh, I sort of expected it.
She looks at you with her tired sunken eyes before sighing and mustering a smile to try and calm you.

[Eli]: Can’t say I dislike that part of you.
[Eli]: Just… it makes me worry sometimes
She speaks as honestly as she can, to the point of feeling embarrassed herself for stating her true feelings.

[Eli]: Hey, stop beating yourself about it, you’ve been doing that the whole day, my crew is doing alright.
The girl musters all the energy she can to keep up her usual persona.

[Percy]: But, are YOU are doing alright?
The question pierces her façade, it frustrates her as she doesn’t know the answer, she muses for a moment.

[Eli]: Yeah, it’s just a lot of shit happened these days, still working it out.
[Eli]: Really man, I’m okay.
She tries to play it off, but she’s too tired to do it properly. It reminds you of her back at the rookie tournament when she was barely holding it together after Jaws got hurt. She scratches her arm with unrest while she tries to avoid eye contact for too long.

>She said she’s alright, maybe you should give her some space.

“Want to go for a walk?” You ask the tired trainer who responds with a shrug “Sure, whatever, could use some air”. As the two of you exit the room you ask Houndour to keep an eye on your mons and Eli’s team, “Got it partner

Eli and you walk around the facilities, the place really suffered from the conflict against the revolutionaries, the walls have scorch marks and holes all over them. Broken windows and equipment aren’t a rare sight. The lab workers busy themselves replacing the machinery and trying to see what is still usable. The Pokémon undergoing treatment here wander through the hallways a little more apprehensive than before, what happened a few days has instilled fear in them. They keep close to the researchers and lab employees as they feel safer near their caretakers. Some of the younger, smaller Pokémon cling to them making their jobs quite more difficult. You see a researcher trying to return a small, limping Riolu to its room while the mon vehemently refuses to leave their side.

Everyone is tired and, in the dumps. Eli is no better, while taking a minute to relax outside seems to have improved her mood somewhat she’s still in a pretty rough shape. Now that you got a chance to look closer upon her you notice how worn out her clothes are, dirty, with small holes and unintentional tears, her hair is unkempt and seems frizzy and she can’t stop herself from nervously tapping on her arm. She’s not been taking care of herself as of late.

[Eli]: Huh? Whatchu staring at? You got some problem with me? Want to throw down pretty boy?

Before you can respond you find yourself in a really tight headlock, and, oh man, she’s going pretty hard at it, it’s starting to cross the line from her usual playful rowdiness and into an actual threat to your health, you try to pry yourself free to no avail forcing you to tap out. She stops completely once she realizes that she’s hurting you.

[Eli]: That wasn’t cool of me… Sorry.
She says genuinely ashamed of her sudden outburst of anger.

[Percy]: It was like an Ekans coilin around my neck.
You manage to say between coughs.
[Percy]: Alright, was wrong?

[Eli]: It’s just that, this week has been a pain of my ass.
[Eli]: First, my BOYFRIEND passes out on me for several days.
[Eli]: Also whole team gets their shit kicked in so bad we can’t battle for a week.
[Eli]: So I can’t bounty hunt no more, that means I can’t make any money and on top of that Diane gets all the good bounties.

[Eli]: Then that weird Mareep chick keeps like, stalking me? I dunno, since she’s been helping around Aspen’s lab and visiting you in the hospital she’s always in my way. But she keeps staring at me super weird and intensely, never says a word, and just runs off whenever I try to ask her what’s her deal.
[Eli]: You got a problem with me? SAY IT TO MY FACE!
[Eli]: I’ll throw down without my mons! I don’t care! Bring it on! I DON’T GIVE A DAMN!
[Eli]: …Eh, sorry. I know she’s your friend, but she gets on my nerves.

[Eli]: Man, at times like this I really want a smoke. But I really don’t want to start doing that again.
[Eli]: Oh, by the way, did you hear? The Grass Gym is open once again, got a new Gym Leader and everything, so I guess our ban has expired.

> ”Oh, the gym is open again? Give me the details.” Change the subject to something more light.
> "I wanted to ask you something" Ask Eli if she's alright with helping you deal with the Vespiquen Behemoth.
> ”Actually, I needed to talk to you about something”… Let Eli know about everything, Victoria, White Veil, the Behemoths, you’ll deal with Kali’s backlash later.
> ”Why do you need all that cash for? You are always bounty hunting and I don’t really see you spending that much” Inquire on her money problems?
> ”You used to smoke?” Ask about the past, you actually don’t know that much about how Eli was before you met her.
> ”Yeah, about Jeanne… I don’t know what’s up with her either?” You are as confused as she is, but this might be a good moment to tell her about your past.

As the day comes to an end Eli and you end up sitting together in the meadows surrounding the lab, watching the sunset while you share a can of sugary Oran berry-flavored soda that Eli insisted on treating you as an apology for almost choking you out.

[Percy]: Yeah, about Jeanne...
[Percy]: I actually don’t know what’s up with her either. Lately, things have been really weird around her.
[Percy]: Do you have some time to spare? I wanted to tell you about something…

Even though you consider Eli one of the persons closest to you, you really don’t know that much of one another. Goddamn, even Kali knows more about your past than her. And it’s only fair that if you want to ask you need to tell her about yourself first.

You get along great and trust in each other but there’s still a lot of things you want to know about her and vice versa, you have a desire to be acknowledged and understood by this girl, you want to show her more about you, hoping that she won’t get disgusted or scared by those parts that not even you can accept. It’s scary, the idea of a part of you getting rejected by someone you’ve let get so close to you. Better do it now to avoid some serious pain and regrets later on.

You tell Eli about your past, your early childhood at Madeleine Village. The loneliness, meeting your first friend, Rattata. Leading him to his early demise. Your withdrawal from humans, how you stopped talking to people altogether and slowly learned to understand Pokémon instead. How Jeanne tried her best to “help you” to no avail and how you only started to acknowledge people years later.

[Eli]: That actually explains a lot of stuff
[Eli]: I figured you were some sort of feral child who was reintegrating into society

[Percy]: Nah, that’s Aleida schtick.

[Eli]: For real? I’ll ask her about it later. Back to the main topic
[Eli]: You were a real shitty friend to Jeanne back then.

The statement catches you off guard, you actually, never thought about it that way.

[Percy]: I was? I mean, I didn’t really consider her a friend back then…

[Eli]: Yeah, man, hundred percent. She sounds nosy as hell, but you gave her a hard time. You could at least answer her letters once you were getting better. No wonder she’s so weird around ya

[Eli]: But I get it, I used to hang out with some other piece of shit losers, but Tremor was my first real friend.
[Eli]: Peeps say you can’t be as close to a mon as you are to a human but they are full of shit. We are as tight as it gets.
[Eli]: He’s a mon, but he gets me more than most people. That’s one of the reasons I got interested in ya weirdo, seeing you understand mons so well made me feel. I dunno, like ya could get me too.
[Eli]: If I lost him, or any of my crew I dunno how I would deal with it, even less being so young.

There’s some serene silence between you, but the tension of before has long gone. You’ve managed to keep calm while you were telling everything to Eli, it was pretty cathartic to be honest. Being able to talk about it without flipping the fuck out. It’s nice being so comfortable around someone that you can do this.

[Eli]: Hey since we are getting into some heavy shit, and we are entering in the “real feel” zone.
[Eli]: Can I ask you something?

[Percy]: Sure

[Eli]: Do you…
[Eli]: Do you feel responsible for him? For Rattata?

She asks, almost regretting the question. The girl understands it’s a sensitive topic, but there’s a reason she feels the need to dig a little deeper. Maybe just like you, she was to understand you better.

>”Yes, his death was my fault, I lead him there.”
>”No! It was my grandfather’s fault. He pulled the trigger. People with no consideration for Pokémon, that see their lives as non-consequential, it drives me mad”

It took you some time to stop blaming your grandfather, and humans in general, for what happened to Rattata. But you’ve never stopped thinking about what you could have done to prevent it, even if you were a child, you know that you could have done something.

[Percy]: I know that no one was at fault
[Percy]: It was a lack of understanding on all parts.
[Percy]: Still, I can’t shake off the feeling that I could have done something to prevent it.

[Percy]: If I had spoken up, tried to explain the situation, if I wasn’t so naïve, so weak. Things could have been different. He wouldn’t be dead.
[Percy]: But, you can’t change the past right? Only try to prepare for what comes next.

That feeling of frustration, of knowing things could have gone better hits heavier than usual. Maybe because of your recent, previous failures and mistakes. If only you were stronger, more capable. Eli notices this, you see her wreck her brain trying to find words to comfort you, to bring you some form of closure, but she knows she can’t. The best she can do is put her hand over yours and hold it so tightly it almost hurts.

[Eli]: I’m sorry, I suck at dealing with this heavier, mushy stuff. The stuff you can’t just, punch away to solve.

[Eli]: But I’m glad you shared it.

[Eli]: I want to learn more about you weirdo. Feel like I’m getting to understand ya better.
[Eli]: And most of all, I’m glad you’re getting better. You’ve never stopped trying to.
[Eli]: I admire that. I see you struggle to talk to people, to try and solve everyone’s problem with words. To help as many as you can. To bite more than you can chew and keep pressing on…
[Eli]: It makes me want to give it my all too, ya know? That’s why I choose to stick around you.

Even if she says she’s not good at it, at this moment you feel like that was what you needed to hear.

[Eli]: But what made you want to go down memory lane all of the sudden? The near-death experience?

[Percy]: Actually, I wanted to ask about YOUR past. These days I’ve realized I don’t know that much about you.

[Eli]: Huh? Watchu talking about? you know I’m a straight-up badass and that you can count on me for anythang that’s good enough.

[Percy]: I didn’t knew you used to smoke.

[Eli]: Uh, well.
[Eli]: Like, you really need to know?

[Percy]: Yeah I want to.

[Eli]: Egh.

Eli seems awkward and hesitant to indulge on her past. She grabs her head in frustration in a pretty overblown manner, greeting her teeth and grumbling loudly before relenting with a sigh.

[Eli]: Well, it’s only fair I guess.
[Eli]:Ugh, fine, watchu curious about?

You decide to ask about her time as a bad girl, from what you recall she used to be part of the gang that crashed Kali's party a while back. She has never really gone into detail about that so it seems like a good place to start.

She grumbles at your question, embarrased at her past memores but finally managing to spell it out.

[Eli]: You know baseball right?

[Percy]: Weird place to start, but sure, I know what that is.

“You see, when I was little I used to spend time in this little park near my house, Since my dad spent a lot of time working an my mow was… busy”

There’s a small pause where Eli wrestles with some memories, feeling uncomfortable to touch upon the subject

“One day an older kid arrived with bats, balls, gloves, the whole thing. He got it for free from some sporting goods store going under. Who the fuck plays baseball in that shithole? Well, we did. “

“So, there we were, buncha kids trying to figure out baseball. We didn’t really get all the rules but we had fun just hitting the shit out of the balls as hard as we could. Trying to pitch the ball as fast as possible. Good times. “

You guess this is how she got her incredible throwing arm

“One day, it just sort of stopped. I’d ride my bike to the park with my stupid worn out mitt and ready to throw some killer pitches, but it wasn’t “cool” anymore. Instead, we just bum out there. We’d hang until late hours of the night, or while cutting classes. “

“And then we started doing dumb shit.”
“REALLY dumb shit.”

“Like an active competition to do something stupider every day.“

“At first it was small shit, scaring people with firecrackers, knocking on doors and running, spray painting our names on things, shoplifting snacks.”

“Then it started to escalate, we were breaking stuff, beating up other kids for cash, stealing bikes or anything we could get our hands on, getting older guys to buy us smokes and beer. Getting shitfaced in the middle of the day.”

“I was getting real uncomfortable around them, but, where the fuck was I supposed to go? “
“The part of town I grew up is kinda rough, you gotta act tough or you’re gonna get eaten alive, at least that was how I saw it. “

“And it’s pathetic but, I was scared of being on my own. That if I left those guys, I’d become another target for them and all the other shitty group of assholes round town.“

“It was, kinda scary. Actually, really scary.”

“I always felt too weak to stand on my own. So, I just went with it. “

“Shit started to really hit the fan after that older kid, the one that got us into baseball returned from his “Journey”, suddenly we needed a Pokémon to be a part of the gang, we were getting into fights every other day with other assholes like us.“

“And one day shit got too real, we felt like real life gangstas and we tried to rob some shitty old man’s store.”

“He then proceeded to wipe the floor with us”

[Percy]: Gramps?
Eli nods silently and regretful before resuming her explanation.

“Those assholes ran and left me once things started to get dicey, leaving me to deal with the consequences. “

“I went to juvie for some time after that, and once I got out I really didn’t want anything to do with those assholes. Still, even after that I was still too afraid to be on my own.“

“But then I met Avenger, that dumb little Trubbish. “

“He was doing what I never had the courage too, living by himself, making a little home near the school trashcans”

“But those assholes, my gang, decided to beat the shit out of him just for fun. For being on their territory or some shit.”

“And I dunno, I just snapped. I didn’t give a shit anymore and punched them right on their faces”

“They beat the shit out of us and left us in a garbage can.”

“In the end it was for the best, It forced me to try and stand on my own, but to this day I still depend on others way too much. My dad, my crew, sensei, you.”

She sighs longingly, holding her head in frustration as she recounts her memories obviously angry at her past self and actions. And anger to mask how ashamed she is of the pathetic welp she used to be and she still feel like she is.

“I don’t think we ever intended to be anything like a gang, it just seems like the natural evolution of a bunch of little shitheads living in the bad part of town without nothing else to do. And I felt like I’d never really amount to anything so what else could I do?”

“These guys, my crew, they are my only shot at being more than just another dumb-ass dropout working at a convenience store or some shit. So I can’t let them down.

“I know you guys got your own shit to deal with, damn, you got it pretty bad yourself dude. “
“But I’m not smart like ya weirdo, I don’t got any connections or money like Dickie, and I suck at dealin with people unlike blondie. Shit, I can barely remember type matchups at times!”

“I’m just another run of the mill Trainer.”

“But that’s no excuse, that’s why I gotta work extra hard so I can kick all of your asses and become champion!”

She finally snaps out of her gloomy demeanor with some boisterous posturing, she’s not really trying to convince you of anything, it feels like she’s trying to convince herself. You look at her trying to process her whole story. She looks at you to gauge her reaction and withdraws once again.

[Eli]: I know that look, you must be real disappointed.

[Eli]: That’s why I don’t like to talk about this shit, just makes me look bad.

>You really can't fully understand the situation, but you try to empathize with it the best you can. You want to support her even if you are not sure how.
>You really don't understand this. Truth to be told, you are a bit disappointed in her. Even if it were just petty crimes she seems a little bit pathetic in your eyes now.
>Seeing her be vulnerable and honest, it's a little overwhelming, but you are glad she's shown this side of her. It makes you feel closer to her.
>The past doesn't really matter and you know that what matters is what she'll do moving forward. You have no issue with who she was.

We'll do what we can despite our autism. The main thing is she is who she is now, and she's all the better for it.

Things just escalate and happen before you know it. That's life.

It's a situation we can't fully understand, but it was difficult and she managed to grow from it, so that's basically good. Nothing she told us has made us think worse of her. If anything, we love her more, for the obstacles she's overcome, the progress she's made, and the ability to expose her vulnerabilities to us. Everything she's said, both about what she's done and about the act of saying it, has taken a lot of guts.

Also, Scrafty? Nah. Eli's a Pancham, through and through.

"You know, Pancham are surprisingly strong and tenacious for their size. They work in groups, they spar and play together, they're mischievous, they like to cause trouble and try to appear tough, but they're surprisingly gentle and Pancham always try their hardest no matter what. The problem is they can never get as strong as they want to be, because they look up to their Pangoro and think that that's the pinnacle of strength, and they feel like they need to be like that. So they start looking for a Dark type to learn from; if not their Pangoro, something else, something that knows how to fight dirty and get angry and win no matter what. And they turn into something Dark, too. But even as Pangoro, they don't stop being kind, and looking out for others. They protect weaker Pokemon and stand up for what's right. They become Dark types in the pursuit of strength, but that's not what defines them in the end. That's not all they are. They're still Panchams, at heart. I wonder, though, what would happen if a Pancham didn't feel that pressure. If they didn't have to be strong to survive, and they could just grow up and train regularly. I wonder if there's an evolution for Pancham that's pure Fighting, somewhere. I think there could be."

Or something to that effect. The whole "Pancham need a dark type to evolve" thing has pretty clear sociological implications that I think are the nearest thing Percy can latch on to in times like these.

Gonna back this as well, though it's just adding on to what I have in >>5077818. Eli was also a Pancham in the mystery dungeon dream, so there's already been parallels drawn in the quest itself.
