A man stands in a hell. Waking up from a daydream and discovering his surroundings are different from the time he lost himself in his mind. The stagnant air filled his nostrils with the dust of decades of abandonment.
The hall was covered with a thick and brown carpet, and the distant walls were barren of any decorations.
The only things in this place were 3 doors on one of the far sides of the room, all with a signboard that read “on air”, a coffee machine and a old grey sofa. Well that was a lie, the place was filled with miscellaneous trash and pieces of furniture giving it a strangely homogenous decrepit aura to the room and its occupants
There were only two people, a middle age woman in a Red Socks sweater laying in the mite infested sofa and a squalid man in a business suit that looked like a caricature of the human shape. His arms were too long and his iris was covered the entire eye.
The fake business man stood away from the few objects of the room so the interlopers to this hell decided to approach the woman.
“Hi” he greeted her, exposing the palms of his hands in a friendly gesture. She simply acknowledged him with a nod in his way.
“Do you know where we are?”
“I don’t,” She seemed almost robotic when delivering the line, stunning him for a moment “you must be the new guy. I’m Ruth.”
“oh, nice to meet you. I’m Eddu… Edi… Ed.” A few awkward seconds passed until he asked his next question. “What did you mean by new guy?”

A soft chuckle escaped her pale lips “Don’t worry, I was also confused when I arrived. But as a word of advice, stick to the roll you pick. The audience does not like inconsistencies.”

She raised the left hand that she was hiding under her coat, reveling a wooden manikin hand where her arm should be. The fingers moved in a stiff manner but at her will to the horror of Ed. His morbid fascination was cut when she hid her arm away and dismissed him.
“But I still have so many questions.”
“Then ask quickly, I’m tired and need rest.”
>You can ask Ruth 3 questions
Ed backed away, and Ruth relax her posture her eyes open and unblinking, seemingly asleep. Leaving the strange woman to its own devices Ed approach the doors since the fake man still gave him the creeps. Their placards reminded him of the old time movie studios that had some similar.
There were two wooden doors each read “room 1” and “room 2” but only the first signboard was lit, the last door was made of metal.

>Questions for Ruth
Ed stopped for a minute to find the words that would allow him to satisfy his curiosity.
"Why does the audience care about the roles?"
"It keeps things orderly, it allows them to reduce us to a single component. It is easier to live here if you are always predictable, if you always follow your assigned role."

"Could you tell me some roles? I don't know if I understand them."
Ruth looked into his eyes, trying to figure out how to explain a whole world to him in a few words.
"I am the greedy landlady, Dan is the wise owner of the bar behind the second door and Guy is the foolish beggar. There are more people, but they give me headaches with their complaining and screams and stupid problems ... The audience loves them for it. You still have a lot of time to pick, just be careful, the only want entertainment.”
Ed took some time to digest what he had been told, and was confused by it. The conclusion was that this was a Tv show of some kind, and something was wrong with it, but that was just stating the obvious. He decided that if this situation was illogical he would treat it with the calm attitude, panic would not help.
“Ruth, is there any way to leave this place?”
The woman looked down and for the first time she seemed genuinely sad, her voice drowned by tears.
“My husband was obsessed with that, and then one day he vanished. I don’t know how, and I can’t even remember his face. I hope he comes back for me.”
A few tears crossed her face, and Ed froze, what was he supposed to do? His mind went blank. He began to stutter words of consolation when Ruth regained her composure, her cheeks still wet with tears but her expression reveling only mild nervousness.
“Ed, be a dear and let me rest now. I’m tired.”

>Talk to the man
Ed began walking to the thing pretending to be a man. Its long beard floated slightly above him, giving the impression he was under water. Ed kept his distance while speaking.
“Hello?”
“Salutations.” It responded without moving its head. The fact that its pupils covered the entire eye made it difficult to know where it was looking at.
“Who are you?”
“I’m myself as the Manager.” The verbose taking of the thing would get old soon for Ed, his fear being quickly replaced by annoyance.
“okay, where are we?”
“A doctor married one twins only to realize that he was in love with the other.
Now they struggle to keep their relationship a secret when his brother moves to the next apartment. Will the secret come out or will new bonds form undercover?”
“Wait, what? That’s not an answer. What are you spewing?” Ed was confused at the thing, the fear was gone with the realization that he was taking to a moron.
“I cannot assert truthfulness of my understanding.”
Ed began to lose focus in his objectives and began to question the thing on any given topic at hand.
“What are you?”
“I’m myself as the Manager.”
“You told me that, but since when?”
“I cannot confirm my authorization to disclose that information.”
“And who would have?”
“I cannot confirm my authorization to disclose that information.”

Ed realizes he was going nowhere, and the thing probably knew it, he could not be sure if the machine like responses were form out of malice or idiocy. Whatever the truth it was getting to him, you could not expect to put so much pressure on a man and not see cracks.
“Fine, you don’t want to tell me. Can you tell me at least what’s up with Ruth’s breakdown?”
“She is not centric to the plot. She requires no depth. Yours will be removed after acclimatization.”
Now Ed was worried, not only by the thread but by the things sudden change to a normal speech pattern.
“What did you remove?”
“Intestines, no essential hair, excess features, genitals, the amygdala , the-“
“Wait a minute! Why!? And why are you telling me this!?”
“I cannot confirm my authorization to disclose that information.”
The thing was telling him this out of stupidity or to torture him was the thing Ed wondered. He could not tell from the things expression. He decided to calm himself before any decision was made.

The on air one is probably the set and we'll likely have to start playing out a role when we get to it or we get fucked, so let's check the other shit first, also tearing down the wall or attacking this shit is probably a bad idea, at least for now.

>Go through a door (metal, wooden or the one “on air”) Metal

Deciding to go in safe and with the knowledge acquired Ed decided to
go through the metal door. The hallway was in its simplicity a cement tunnel
with the occasional lightbulb and cables running across the walls.
It was a short walk until he reached the end, opening the door led to…
Another hallway? The floor was carpeted in a hideous green color and most of the doors were painted. But the most disturbing fact was that there was a missing wall that led to the abyss.
Ed looked over the edge and saw nothing. Like swimming to the edge of a reef, there was the crushing sensation of smallness, and he retreated to the safety of the was the wall.
Deciding on not lingering he entered the only other real door only to wish he stayed with Ruth at the sofa.

The bar was well lit, and as the previous room, there was a wall missing that led to the void.
Disturbingly there were some eyes floating there, it also did not help that the bar was occupied by wooden manikin’s with the exception of three men. The first two sat at the bar while the third served drinks. They seemed surprised by his entrance and waved him in, placing a watered down beer mug in his hand.
The fat man introduced himself as Kurt, the tramp as Guy and the bartender as Dan.
They were off, but Ed could not place his finger on what exactly was wrong.
“Welcome to the family!” Kurt said, his hand patting Ed’s back.
“thank you, I guess…”
“Hey Dan, Get us some of the good stuff from the top shelf! This shitty liquor is no way to celebrate nothing!” Guy slurred while his hand reached for the wine bottles out of his reach.
Dan responded by smashing an empty bottle in his head, making him drop stone cold. A sadistic smile formed in his face as the hobo began to grow a crimson puddle under his hair.
“Piss of ya drunk, tha good licks don’t refill as much. Wait till the lad gets its balls pulled out.”
Ed, turned to Kurt, who was frowning at the murderous bartender.
“Dan, if you keep that attitude I will stop making lunch for you.”
“It wont be that bad, you just bake cockroach puddings all day.”
“Take that back asshole.”
Ed sat there, sipping at the mug, in absolute shock after watching a man get killed in front of him and then this maniacs brush it off as a common occurrence. His panic attack was thankfully delayed by the hobo rising again and drinking the alcohol that had not been spilled.
Ed looked down again and the blood was gone.
*Where the hell am I* was the only thing that came to mind as Guy entered their argument.

The eyes in the abyss grew in number as they observed.

What will Ed do?

Ah fuck looks like we actually got on stage, bet the eyes are the audience and these guys are playing their roles right now, I say we try and play some sort of a investigator role like a PI or Detective so that we can investigate shit without the audience getting angry that we're not "in character".

Ed’s mind raced with the fear of what was behind him. He needed to improvise.
“eeh… hey guys, are you being watched or are you happy to see me?”

*FUCK*
Despite the absurd one-liner, Ed had managed to get their attention.
Guy began snickering while Kurt took him aside to talk. His voice was low but not a whisper.
“Don’t worry about the audience watching. As long as you don’t attack or talk to them you will be fine.” He offered a friendly smile. “But lets get to the important stuff, you decided on a roll yet?”
“a p-private detective.” Ed whispered, his eyes darting in worry that the eyes would hear him.
“oh, that’s nice. You still have a few days to make it formal but that would tie nicely with the agreed plot we have here.”
Guy barged into the conversation.
“So you are a PI. Let’s practice that role and tell me a story of your work.”

“shit, I mean… I’m investigating… a woman who, killed her husband… But the plot twist is that he… committed suicide?... to frame her.”
“Oh shit, that’s my ex-wife!” Guy exclaimed, the he proceeded to run away from the room.

the laughter came from the abyss ,that now sported rows of smiles. Kurt face palmed while Dan finished his mug.
“Should I run after him?” Ed asked

>Run after Guy
If we run after him we can play into the joke while also seeing a new area and asking him questions. If we stay and ask questions to the other two then it might kill the joke and make the audience upset, while the things we can learn from them could be valuable we can just ask them things at a better time such as when we're not on set. So for now just gonna vote on running after Guy.

>Run after Guy
Ed stood up and began to catch up to Guy, 30 min later he had searched all of the rooms he could enter and found no trace of him. Room 1 was filled with 3 people arguing and throwing objects while a woman quietly made origami completely ignoring the situation, Ed decided to avoid them for now.
Ruth had seen nothing and the white room was, in fact, a empty room with walls of a ceramic aspect.
Hallway and room 2 were empty. So the only conclusion is that the hobo had vanished, somehow. Ed began to wonder if finding out this was a stroke of luck or misfortune. Was he going to need to pursue Guy until one of them gave up?

Ed sat alone in Room 2, the missing wall that led to the abyss was vacant, the audience had not followed him. After the small work out he expected to be tired or thirsty, but nothing. Not even sweet this was definitely another odd thing in this place. Although by comparison to the other things happening it seemed such a small detail. A small detail that he would normally not pay attention to… he was aware of this, he was not a attentive man, he used to be…

*fuck!*
Throwing the first thing at hand at the abyss in his anger, he tried to calm himself down. Only the faint sound of breaking in the distance snapped him out of his existential crisis. Deciding to test the theory, he drop a glass to measure the depth. 15 seconds. That was its distance down. On one hand he was glad there was a limit to the madness on the other he was still mad at his mind wipe.

-What is “the white room”?
If you can guess what is the white room and how to make it work you will gain the ability to moderately alter a scene (Yes, that means a rewrite of some event in that’s happening)
This game will be valid until success or until someone tells you the answer.
You will be able to see the room function naturally in the future.

>The blind girl
Ed considered how to continue investigating this strange place. the living room was quite generic, with its kitchen integrated into the living room and a wooden floor.

The air conditioning duct was bricked up and the window faced a brick wall.

Ed was rummaging through cabinets full of Christmas decorations and disused sports equipment when the door to Room 1 opened.

The woman who was doing origami while she was ignoring everyone walked in and soon after started rummaging through a refrigerator that Ed knew was empty except for a can of ketchup and some expired milk.

"Kurt, could you help me?"

Ed stopped for a few seconds
"Hi, I'm Ed ..."

The woman was surprised and started to approach, squinting her eyes as she did.
"Oh, excuse me, I confused you." Holding out her hand uncertainly she introduced herself as Clair.

Ed started the same questions that he had been able to ask the other people he had come across but he couldn't discover anything new.

"Ed, I think you are stressing yourself too much. Why not enjoy this place?" Clair tried to cheer him up.

"Doesn't this place bother you?"
"That has to bother me, this is my husband, my sister and there are many things that can be done. It is like a vacation forever."

"So there is nothing I say to change your opinion?"
"But if this place is fantastic! Why would you leave it?"

Ed decided to focus on the goal, get out of this hell.
Clair didn't seem very willing to help him find a way out of her and it could certainly be dangerous to discuss it with her.
But he could ask about someone who had succeeded.

"Clair, what happened to Ruth's husband?"
"Who?"

Ed didn't expect that answer, he wondered if the girl was pretending ignorance but her confused expression made it clear that he didn't know who she was talking about.

"It doesn't matter, and do you know where I could find Guy?"
"Ah, in the canteen!"

Clair took his hand and dragged him back to the bar. Ed tried to protest, telling him that he had already been there, but when they entered they found the homeless man lying on two chairs, staring blankly at a television playing static.

Ed started to get closer when Clair stopped him.
"Wait a bit, can't you see that he's sleeping?"
"Clair, I don't know how long you've been here but that's not sleeping."
"Yesssssssssss, it is."

Dan interrupted before they could continue.
"Clair, have you hired our detective?"
"What do I need a detective for?"
"To find your husband for you."

As the audience finished making noise, Clair began to throw insults at him and cutlery from the tables.

Ed slowly approached Guy just in case he started running again.

As the fight between those lunatics continued more eyes began to emerge from the abyss. It send shivers down Eds spine, and with the resolve to avoid calling more attention he decided to intervene.
Grabbing Clair by the arm he gently pulled her away from the grinning bartender and started taking to unrelated things in the hopes of distracting her. Despite his best efforts he could not calm her down, she kept shooting murderous glances at Dan, but at least she was quiet and still.

Realizing she was going to be of no use he kicked the hobo in the leg, waking him from its trance.
With a jolt he jumped out his seat and fell on the floor with the sound of something in his pockets breaking. He looked confused for a second, and then his eyes adapted to the light and sat next to Ed, greeting him like a long lost friend.
“How have you been my boy? Trying your luck with this fine lass?” he whispered the last part, not that it was necessary since Clair was not paying any attention.
“We were together just a few minutes ago.” Ed replied with a dry voice.
“And it feels like ages lad! don’t be somber now,” Guy slurred “How about we grab a pint?”
“Frist, how did you disappear? I followed you but you were gone.”
“Don’t know, never left is my guess.”

Ed began to question this man sanity, but then again, if he did he would need to examine his own and at this moment that was not productive.

Eh I'd rather have other anons here too to experience the story, it's really too bad that no one else decided to join in since this is pretty interesting. But anyways honestly might be a good idea to just stop for now, archive it, and then start it up again like a week or so down the line with a link to the archive and hopefully then more people could join in, or just start another quest. If someone does join in the thread though then I'll be back.

I dont know what to do.
I know this failure is my fault, but im not sure why.

One is certanly the formating, but there must be something else...

Well, i dont know how to pick this up later so if you have any questions that you want answers before this quest falls of the board for who knows how long, shot.

Also, heres the link on how i have been doing the images

An AI art generator? Damn thought those were images just pulled off of google that's pretty good. I don't really got any questions about the story as I would've preferred to experience it normally with a bunch of other people, sadly people weren't interested, but how did you come up with the idea for this quest anyways?
>>
This quest is amazing! Man, dont you stop it, anons just have a blind eye for it. You're probably having fun constructing this world, and I had fun diving in it. I'll save this thread as a bookmark, let it be known there's three of us now. At least
>>
And on the note of 'wat do', here's my 5 cents:
We don't wanna lose our organs probably. Private eye role keeps us intact with our frontal lobes, short-term memory and obviously arms and legs. Considering the high probability of 'not leaving this place' in the next 3 days and the following acclimatization, we gotta think about how to keep the audience interested in us. So coming up with a story realistic enough that it would keep our real memories intact, but moving and getting the audience involved, so that we're not discarded from the show, must be the course of action for now.
On the spot: play along, be part of a show. Try to be the voice of reason to accentuate the characters of the other actors, make their craziness contrast for the floating eyes. And don't let the hobo run this time.
>>
>>5063230
The idea came from a comic called "The Abaddon" (that is based around the play "No exit" by Jean-Paul Sartre)
https://readcomiconline.li/Comic/The-Abaddon

the idea of this kind of purgatory/hell was very amusing but i wanted to make something diferent.
And after searching for inspiration i found the monotone and infuriating series "How i met your mother"

> Play along (Escalate)
> Be the voice of sanity
> create a story for them

Ed evaluated the few options he had been given and the threats that loomed like vultures on carrion.
He knew that it would take time to escape if he did not find Ruth's husband, the only one who had achieved that feat, so he began to create a story in his mind with which to justify the investigation and gain relevance.

"I've been hired by Ruth," he declared confidently, catching the attention of Guy and Clair, "I'm here investigating the disappearance of her husband."
Even Dan was silent, with a malicious smile but quiet at least.

Ed wove a story of how he had followed his trail through the city and underworld only to end up back here.
The eyes in the abyss were watching his performance intently, fear crept up his stomach up to his throat, but he didn't stop.

"And what I really believe is that someone here, killed him." It was a lie, everything had been made up. But the public went crazy, screams of excitement and enthusiasm for the revelation.

Guy turned pale and his hands trembled, Ed's actions produced the dread of death in his mind. Clair wasn't smart enough to understand the severity of the situation, so she acted like a normal person, with surprise and fear.
Dan however let out a great laugh, celebrating with the same interest as the public the development of the situation.

"I'm going for another beer" declared Guy
"No, we celebrate our new man with special drink." Dan pulled out a bottle of champagne from under the table.
"You fucking asshole!" Guy grabbed a fork and lunged at the man.
Ed decided to play his role and stop the fight.

By the time they finished half the bar had been trashed and Clair had fled in a panic. Ed, with Guy in tow, started dragging him.
Leaving through Room 2, Guy gave directions to enter the White room.
"Now, let's go into my house." Said the tramp, as he opened the door. And to Ed's surprise, instead of seeing a polished white room, he saw a recreation of what a tent would look like inside.

There was a stove, a sleeping bag, and a lot of useless garbage. By letting Guy rest on one of those piles he was able to investigate the place in more detail.
It felt like a real tent but smelled of piss.

What will Ed do? (You can take several options)

New anon, I couldn't stick with last few fae, but I suppose I ought to give this a try, even though I find it weirdly written, not necessarily in a good way.

>> Questions to Guy (which ones?)
Do you often solve your problems with violence ? (pique/ playing up our role)
How long have you been roughing it ? (tasty backstory for both us and the audience)
Did you know Ruth's husband ? (Need to play our role, again)

>Inspect the tent walls as you do everything else. Run your hand along them, but don't start breaking stuff.

> Take something from the trash (make something up that fits in your hand)
Something that would move our plot along, if the show is responding to us. Something that belonged to the husband, perhaps ? Start giving the audience reasons to suspect someone or the other. That'll drive ratings up, and make us look effective.
>>
>>5063876

The way it's written adds to the atmoshere, along with computer generated images and art-housy story in general. I like it

Action: leave the room and say "I'm going to my agency now" out loud and enter it again. Is it possible that the White room constructs the set that fits the plot?

Talking to Guy might not be a good idea, he seems illiterate... Worth a try, but if he won't show any signs of awareness of being in a show, he won't be useful at this point. Play the role? Good point, we should do that!
And taking something from him can cause his anger, so not unless we ask first. It is interesting, whether props can be taken out of the White room
>>
>>5063837
Ayyy we got other anons in here now awesome.
If the ability to get a bonus from finding out what the white room is is still a thing then I think it might just be the homes of every character and changes depending on who's home it's supposed to be at the time, or just for areas that aren't like main areas, such as how the bar is always existing as it seems to be the main place the show takes place but if a scene needs a new area then the white room could serve as that purpose.
>>5063876
+1 to this but we should try what >>5064098 said later with trying to go to our agency, I don't think leaving right after he drags us along to here would be a good idea.

Many actions swirled in Ed’s mind, but he decided to begin with the basics,
and that was information gathering.

“Do you often solve your problems with violence?”
Guy rolled around in his trash, “Fuck off.”
Ed was not surprised, if only a bit disappointed by the short statement.
So he decided to try another approach.
“How long have you been roughing it?”
“I don’t remember, used to have a family before ending up here…”
there was a tinge of truth in his voice.

“What about you? Always the goody two shoes?”
Ed stopped, trying to hold to something
“I … never mind.”
His mind was a blur of images without context.
“Do you remember more?”
“I used to be a successful businessman, exchanging stocks for the real –“
Ed stopped listening, this was most definitely a lie.

“Did you know Ruth’s husband?”
“He does not exist.”
Ed looked quizzically at the tramp, deciding if he was ready to believe the last statement.
“What are you talking about?”
Guy replied after making himself comfortable and resting with his back on the wall of the tent.
“Ruth made him up, there is no lost husband.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXEldHF7nfs&t=96s
Ed could not tell if he was lying, was it truth or a way to control the audience?
He could not tell.
maybe he had not given enough credit to the man.

Before leaving he inspected the place a bit more closely, it seemed like a real tent,
and the homogenous piles of trash had nothing to offer with the exception of a set of keys.
They caught his attention since he had not seen any locks in this place.
Quietly pocketing them he decided to leave, he needed to test his theory on the white room.
He stood alone in room 2, the abyss was empty and the only sounds came from the dripping of a broken tap.
“I’m going into my agency now"

He opened the door and instead of the tent or the white room he found a office with wooden walls and a oak desk.
Several file cabinets stood in an irregular pattern around the place and Guy was lying down on the floor in a similar position as he had left him in.
>>
<<Game of deduction?>>
What is “the white room”?
“If a scene needs a new area then the white room could serve as that purpose.”
The answer is correct. Congratulations.

He explored the new space, the file cabinets were filled with white sheets of paper and the drawers filled with normal office supplies.
And on top of his desk was a file title “Matthias “.
Inside was a recollection of everything he knew about Ruth’s husband and all the lies he had told about him.

Thanks to that he realized that no one had called it by a name,
it was always Ruth husband.
Like it was some title that could be given to any entity.
*Odd* he thought to himself.
What will Ed do?
>The white room must hold more clues in other spaces (ideas?)

Well first off we should probably actually figure out her husbands name, if she can even remember it that is, a few other questions as well such as when he was last seen and such.

>Ruth needs to answer some questions about her husband

Deciding that he should confirm his theory, Ed walked out of the white room, which was now empty.
* I stop looking at him for a second and he disappears again. "

He headed to the back room hoping that his questions would lead him to find his way out of this hell.
the concrete hallways between the rooms smelled like decay.
The room of garbage and abandoned dreams remained the same as when he left her,
Ruth still immobile on the sofa and the fake man playing with something in her hand.

Ed approached the woman without losing sight of her
quickly jumping into his role as an investigator, even without the presence of the audience.

"I have more questions for you Ruth"
Ruth looked up, even without blinking for hours
her eyes continued with the appearance of being able to shed tears at any moment.

"What do you need?"
"Your husband, what was his name?"
"Oh my poor husband," she covered her face with her hands "I hope he is okay, I hope-"
Ed interrupted her.
"Name."
"Matth ... Matt, yes, Matt was his name for him."
* Close enough I guess * Ed thought to himself.

"Okay, do you remember the last time you saw him?"
"Oh yeah, it was at Claire and Hugh's wedding. It had been a lovely event but he was talking to Lynn when she got really mad
and ... I can't quite remember ... something happened."
"Try to focus please."
Ruth frowned as she searched through broken memories but could only find the ones she didn't want.
"Did you know that I played the violin? I didn't remember."
"Ruth, on the wedding day, what happened?"
"I was playing at the wedding, I was so focused back then. I didn't notice when the blood splashed on me."
Ed began to worry "Whose blood was it?"
"From Claire. There was a lot ... oh my god, there was so much. How could I forget?"
She began grasping for air, the fear and anxiety choking her life away.

Ruth fell unconscious, her eyes closing for the first time since Ed had met her.
"Remembering is bad, why are you so obsessed with the past?" The fake man was next to Ed
"Memories are echoes of nostalgia and mistakes."
Ed stared at the creature in disbelief, trying to process the stupidity that had just come from those rubber lips.
The creature quickly put its abhorrent hand on his shoulder.
"You don't think I'm right?"

Why is Ed here?
> "I swear it was a mistake, why should everything end like this?" (He deserved it)

> "Just one more, I need one more to get back to normal."

I was lying in the floor of my apartment, the landlord had died some weeks ago so it was free housing until someone noticed.
Well, someone other than the dregs of this world, who came here for the same reason as I. To hide.
My skin ached and bleed due to something I no longer cared. I had already lost everything to a debt that was forced on me,
so my only real concern was getting the painkillers.

I went outside after closing my door with as many locks I could afford, the night was clear and
the buzzing of the cicadas gave the summer wind a nostalgic tone. If not for the smell of urine around me it would have been a perfect night.
The streets were empty except for the hookers I knew by name and some dumb kids car racing.
Went to the local pharmacy and slipped Danny some extra bucks, I just needed some painkillers.
I would hate me for taking them later, right now I just needed relief.
I could figure what to do next once my head was clear.
I took a handful of pills and swallow them.

….

A man stands in a hell. Ed woke up from his daydream to find himself staring into the black pupils of the thing.
“Why do you hate me?” the thing spoke this words with a smile “Why won’t you enjoy the now and forget?”
Ed looked with a mix of fear and disbelief, trying to understand what the abomination wanted of the people here.
“Memories we have for a reason. We use them to grow, to become better, kinder, stronger than we were.
If it comes at the cost of pain - so be it”

The thing just keep smiling and left, returning to its post. I just stood there again, playing with something in his hands.
Ruth was still unconscious, so Ed decided to return to the bar. Maybe Dan would hold more answers.
Two hours later he had spoken to Dan, Claire and Guy.
Trying to make them remember about the wedding only for them to fall unconscious mid story.
When they woke up they didn’t remember a thing.
It was frustrating for Ed, feeling so close to the answer but hitting a roadblock.

What will Ed do?
>There must be some traces left by the wedding (How do you plan on finding them?)

I say we try going back to the white room and try to access some sort of church or wedding hall like area, if there was a wedding that took place in this weird world then the white room must've been used for the scene that needed a wedding area.
Also for a guess on what the fake man is I'm going to say maybe he's the producer for the show providing entertainment to those eyes for whatever reason, from what I see he could also have a very distorted view of what humans view of pain and memory and be trying to "help" by taking them from their lives and removing their memories.

The answer is correct

>Use the white room to go back to the place.

Ed decided to use the most simple solution to his problem, the white room.
They must have used that place for the wedding so it was logical the place would still be there.
Ed felt hope as he neared the answers that would allow escape.
“I’m going to the wedding hall” Ed pulled the door knob only to find it locked, for the first time,
he had found a place where he was not meant to be.

[used item; Keys]

Pulling out the keys he had found in Guy’s tent he began to try to open the door until it opened.
The insides of the place were chaotic to say the least, there were some tables were the guest were supposed to sit with blood splatters covering them.
It still seemed fresh, like the room had been frozen in time since the incident.

Pieces of broken chairs and shattered glass covered the floor.
Ed began searching for something that would give him a clue.
There were some stake knifes, a partially eaten cake, a video camera, a hot dog stand …
Ed looked back at the camera, that stroke of luck was so big he dint believed it until he took it up and started playing the video it had recorded.
It was a bulky thing, probably used by an extra, but it was his ticked out.

As the video played along and thing developed he started piecing things.
The guest were mannequins with a few exceptions, some time later, the incident happened.
A splash of blood and the bride began stabbing the groom and other guests.
Then, while the people started running, a single man ran straight at the audience who had coalesced into a giant mass.
He charged at them and just before he pirced the veil the camera man fell to the ground.

“FUCK!” Ed screamed in frustration, almost, but he had enough information to piece out the mystery.
Now he needed a plan to execute it, Ruth’s husband probably choose this moment for a reason,
he just needed to recreate something with a similar effect.

And he had to decide if he could save anyone in this hell, or leave them here forever.

What will Ed do?
>no prompts, the pieces are there. Anything I say will give a clue
>Use the bonus rewrite to change something in this post (You currently have 2)
>>
>>5067291
I feel as if this was a big scene in the show and a lot of the audience was watching for this, I think that he was able to do something because of the very very large amount of attention to escape, so what we have to do in the future is find out a way to make a big scene happen with a lot of the audience joining in to watch, but we also have to figure out what to do when we do get that to happen.
>Start looking around at where the man was standing and at where the giant mass of audience was.
There might be something where he was standing to set off the incident, it's also just simply worth it to look at where the audience was forming together.

>Do some detective work around this place.

Ed began comparing the place to the video, the tables and the altar serving as a reference points.
Finding the place where the man had charged the audience took little effort, it was between the upturned minibar and the cake.
The abyss stood there like always, so Ed began to test the place.
There was nothing unusual about the wedding hall in this place, it looked perfectly normal.
The placed felt just as any other. So the question was, why did the audience gather here?
The abyss was a uniform space of nothing, so the answer could not lie there.

Turning around Ed found the answers in the form of a large clot of blood and viscera on the floor.
This was the place where the bride had begun her evisceration of the guest.
“So I just need to make a ruckus so big that the audience transforms into my ticked out?”

Ed thought it was just to easy, and could not understand the reason why that would work.
Then again, he had been told not to interact with the audience so his knowledge of them was second hand.
Ed left the wedding hall, there was nothing more to learn from this place.

Exiting outside of the white room he found himself in the company of Kurt and his husband Joel,
having an emotional conversation about not having children.
The audience was interested and Ed was not, so he exited the room through the bar.
He had two options now, begin planning and setting into motion another shitshow the likes of the carnage he had left,
or try to convince one of other “prisoners” in assisting him on his escape.
He really doubted he could pull that off but he could hope.

What will Ed do?

>You know the way out, what will the fake man say about that?

>Learn of the past.
Ed began his investigation of the past.
Learning of past events that defined this place only to feel like a high schooler needing to learn the dynamics and history on a bunch of unstable minds.

Put in summary
Clair was married to Hugh, with was having an affair with her sister.
Everyone else was a secondary character to this trio of narcissistic sociopaths, this was sadly not a perception but a reality.

Dan had come to accept his fate, never trying to gain relevance while the rest struggled to rise to the top with ever more convoluted schemes and plots of interest.
Just taking to Joel about all the things he had done in this place made a clear impression that he had been here for a many decades at best.
At worst, centuries.

But from the stories Ed had learned that the only limit to the White-room was the space it had.

While he was gathering stories in the bar he found himself distracted, his gaze wandering away.
And into the fake man’s pupils in stopped.
He was just outside the audience field of view, waiting in the corridor that would lead to the backroom.
“Hey, Joel,” Ed whispered “what is he doing?”
Joel turned around and quickly spotted the thing. “Seems to be waiting for you.”
*well shit* Ed thought to himself, now bound under the lights if he wanted to remain whole.

What will Ed do?

(Not sure if I understand it right, but here I go)

Ed felt the fear make his legs weak and he could hear his own heart racing.
But he maintained his calm appearance, he could not fail now.
He set his plan in motion; he was safe under the eyes of the audience so he would make them all come here.

“Dan, could you call the others here, I have made a great discovery in my case.”
Ed could feel the eyes of everyone on him, most were filled with fear.
Even some mannequins turned their heads when he began to explain his scenario to everyone.

“I have discovered what happened to Ruth’s husband.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrEJ0ccLDII

All the cast was shocked, if not for the statement, for Ed’s balls to make such a claim in front of the audience.
The rows of eyes and mouths was beginning to conglomerate in the form of a pearly white blob.
“What became of him? Tell me.” Ruth exclaimed
Ed began pacing around the bar
“The police are on their way, but you will know the truth before they arrive.”
he took one of the mugs in the bar.
"It all began on the day of a celebration. Everyone was so dedicated to the event noone saw the crime made."

The audience suddenly disapeard and all of thehumans fell as if they had been turned off.
The lights dimmed and he could hear the door open.
Then the lights returned and everithng was back into place.

"It blurry but i remenber something" Clair said

Yeah, a legitimate question here is: do we decide how whether to save ourselves, ourselves plus someone or try to make a mass escape or we got a single roll and our choice would just be a DC modificator?
It would obviously be way cooler to get everyone out and that would probably make all the other characters more deep, since, you know, we'd get to know them outside of this hellish sitcom, but if it dumps our own chance of survival down to oblivion... I guess we'd rather not

While escaping with the others sounds fun and is probably a good idea, we really don't have any reasons to escape with them except for being moral, we've only known them for a really small amount of time with the one we're closest to probably being Ruth.

>Pretend to be poisoned and “die” [-5 DC escape alone]
Ed’s mind drifted to that one Tarantino movie he could almost remember the name, the one in the cabin.
And with that inspiration he set his plan in motion.

“Well, the murder occurred during that event.” Ed began to weave his story while taking a drink from a nearby mug.
“The main clue of my investigation was based around the people I saw in a film taken.
Or rather, the ones that were missing. You see while everyone was busy …”

Ed stopped in his tracks,
* its show time* he thought to himself.
He began coughing, he pretended to grasp for air while holding his breath to turn red.
His hand extended into the air before be drop to the ground.

The audience was enthralled by his performance.
The conglomerate had settle into a large blob of eyes with a clear mass and shape.

The others were frozen in place, their sense of reality was so distorted that they were convince Ed really had died.
A clear fear settled on them all as the distant fear of death that had been expelled centuries ago had come back in a rush with the
believe they could kill each other.

Ruth was the first to speak
“Dear god, another murder!”

Dan’s perpetual grin had vanish, his face a mirror of intrigue and terror.
“What do we do?”
“I will get an ambulance!” Guy exclaimed
“NO! you could be the murderer and try to escape!” Hugh accused him

And soon they devolved into a bickering and distrustful crowd that refused to let others leave.
In the meantime, Ed crawled his way closer to the audience, not been seen by any.
He felt a bit bad for leaving them here, but this people had been here so much time he feared they would rat him out to the producer.

With one last look back and some silent goodbyes he pierced the abyss and left.

...

Once upon a time they needed a new life
A away to live again.
so we made a lie so big and bold
it left no space for truth
Is it wrong to pick broken pieces and recycle them?

>Its home again, but the veil is torn [Resurrection ending]

When Ed crawled into the abyss he expected nothing. Yet he was still surprised when he could only feel nauseous in the darkness, his stomach being pulled into all directions and the air so thick he felt like drowning.

A pain rose from his gut up into his brain and settle there, making a migraine that made him feel his eyes were going to pop. He vomited the scarce content of his stomach.

The world began to clear in a blur, still dizzy, he sat in the floor. Breathing became easier with time until he was back to normal. And appreciating the world around him, he could see he was back in his apartment.

He took his phone out to look at the date. It didn’t mean anything to him, he tried remembering what he had been doing. The spilled bottle of pills on the nightstand gave him the clue.
*Was it all just a dream?*
It felt very real, he checked his person and found none of the objects that he had taken in the show. He took a deep breath, the exhaustion of some unknown strain made his muscles ache.

*I need to rest* his had made the instinctive move to the bottle of pills, only to be stopped by his consciousness. His head still hurt, but it was a more tame pain, something he could endure for now.

He decided to go to sleep .

The morning came with a chilling wind that woke Ed up, he followed his morning routine. The memories of that hell almost dismissed as a particularly bad dream until he went outside.
The world was changed, pieces of the buildings were chunks of flesh. Eyes in the windows and vents for nostrils. He began to explore this distorted version of his City and began to feel like he had lost his mind the more things he found.
Some humans looked like the producer.

Thankfully the “things” were scarce and after walking around for an hour he had only seen less than a dozen. Something even weirder was that normal people did not interact with them.

He sat in a bench of a park, now fully embracing the hell he saw as real. Ed needed to figure out what to do, a new face of the world could be seen.
The world had changed, yet it was the same. He still needed to find a stable job, he still needed to seek help and find a better apartment.
*I have a second chance, I wonder if I can work as a psychic now?*

He left the bench with new hopes for a future he had taken back.

THE END

It was a fun ride, if you have criticism go ahead. Best way to improve.
Also, there was an anon who came from the Last Few Fae, I wanted to apologize because I don’t think I will be coming back to that in some time. That said I will try to make the next one a draw quest (Or at least a hybrid with the AI images) .

Not sure what to begin preparing next tho. Enjoy the holidays and I will see you around.

Enjoy the holidays mate, a draw quest sounds good they usually attract a lot more people, like the pizzeria quest or the space monke quest. I'm also not really good at finding things to criticize unless if it's glaringly obvious so I don't got anything to criticize.

hi, i'm new to /qst/. been reading and enjoyed your quest very much.
1) question about the organs. was it a "use it or lose it" deal?
2) could i fabricate items using the white room - like the keys? something to see or descend into the abyss?
3) how much of the quest ended up "just as planned" and how much was improvised?

pretty fun stuff.
only criticism i'd have is a few typos and the writing was a little unclear in parts. but given the weirdness of the storyline, it didn't detract too much from it.
just testing. i'm a n00b trying n00b t̸͙̭̫̗̦̣̮͙̄́̀̽̉͝h̵̯̙̹̤͈̱̣̮̫̟̭̜͚̬͉͋̊̀̀͌͆̂̔̈́̈́̔i̷̢̖̘̤͇̠̰̖̙͐̆̉̈̃̎̓̏͆n̸̙͖̞̺̙̰̤̼͇̏͊͗̿̎͋̊͑̂͐͘g̸̛͉̦̐͑̓͆̾͛̓͋s̵̯̥̙̞̰̘̆̾̒̎͗͒̆̉̚͝͠͝.

Almost didnt see you there. Sorry for the delay:

1) yes, you were going to be turned into another puppet for the show
2)maybe? probably yes
3) I devised 3 posible ways out and a bunch of posible endings. The "how we get there" is part of the fun
