>FIND A STABLE SOURCE OF BIOMATTER… SUCCESS

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDWh4OuGqNM&list=PLqnnuEVGcRQxWieUfFOq7e2fBgK5svvSD&index=2

Sophia watches you as you approach, not breaking eye contact while you sit down on the bench next to her. She takes a deep breath and says “Just what was that Thing in you that took over? It’s… Different than the rest of you.”

Sophia’s question does pique your own curiosity, just what is that quiet part of yourself? When it actually decides to do something or give you advice, it is always the right thing to do. And it feels older than the rest of you. Much older. Deciding to be honest, you answer her: ”To be honest, I’m not really sure. It’s been with me since the beginning, but somehow it feels older than me. I think it may have been a piece of the original, but it doesn’t do much talking so I’m not sure I’ll ever really know. At least until I find the real original.” Sophia sighs, before standing up and saying “Well all I know is that it feels dangerous. All I’m saying is be careful. Whew… Well, do you want to get some breakfast? I’m starving!” You are about to reply in the affirmative when you feel the gears turn inside you. Your supply of this money is not unlimited, and eventually you will run out. You have to do something about that, especially if you want to remain in this town long enough to take it over…

ALL WE NEED TO DO IS FIND A FOOD SOURCE. WITH THIS MANY THINGS HERE, THEY MUST HAVE SOMEWHERE THEY STOCKPILE ALL OF THE BIOMATTER.

Yeah, that’s true, but where would it be? And when we find it, just how exactly are we going to claim it for ourselves without drawing tons of attention to us?

WE TAKE IT BY FORCE OF COURSE, WHAT ELSE?!

That’s… Not a good idea. The Spiral is already closing in, I’ve seen more of their helicopters buzzing around in the air here, we need to be able to get it in a way that’s safe and preferably, quiet. Maybe we should just wait ‘til night and steal some?

I think I know what to do. We just need to control one Thing who handles the biomatter here, and it will give us just enough of what we need everyday that nobody will even notice it’s gone.
>>
So focused were you on your internal deliberation that you didn’t hear Sophia asking you what’s wrong until just now. You tell her you’re fine and then ask her where the stockpile of biomatter would be in this town. “Stockpile of… What? Do you mean a supermarket? We passed one by on the way here, you want to go there?” You tell her yes, and you both begin walking towards the center of the town. It doesn’t take you long before you stop in front of a large box shaped building, the words Jacob & Son’s Grocery emblazoned above the doors. And it is quite the hub of activity, Things both entering and exiting seemingly endlessly. And the biomatter within! So.. Much… Food! All that’s left to do is decide on just how you’re going to get it.

>Simply walk in, fill a cart with as much food as it can hold and then leave. IF ANYTHING TRIES TO STOP US, OH HOW THEY WILL REGRET IT! THIS IS CLEARLY THE CORRECT CHOICE!

>Wait until nightfall and then break in and steal as much as you can, quietly. If we do this right, we won’t need to deal with the strain of directly controlling a mind for a long time, not to mention that others may notice if we control one of these Things or outright smash and grab. We’ll have enough biomatter to last for weeks, if not months. This is the smartest choice.

>Find a suitable candidate with a particularly pliable mind, and control it or otherwise influence it so it will give us the food itself. Nobody needs to get hurt, and no one will realize what we’re up to. This is the best choice.
>>
And we're back! If you didn't see it in the /qtg/, I went ahead and wrote up the request from some anons for the Thing to fight a biblical angel. Hope you enjoy it!

So did the Thing merge with the angel and change its psyche or take over completely?

If we want to play it safe, we can just acquire access to all the biomatter that are slightly over the experation date and consume it when they throw it away. No one will notice, and we'll reap all the benefits. Well, the homeless might notice but fuck em.

>SNEAK IN AT NIGHT AND STEAL AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE... SUCCESS
The Survivor hasn't steered you wrong yet, so you decide to go with his idea. Entering the store with Sophia, you carefully take stock of where the best food items are stored. And there is so much of it! Every kind of edible you can imagine and more, all stored within these four walls. You loop through the store twice, Sophia occasionally picking out a box or a can of one food or another. She even grabs a sour smelling yellow fruit, and seeing your puzzled look, she says "What? I like sour stuff, plus this stuff is full of vitamins! You can try some when we get back to the hotel." You have to admit you are curious, and you ask Sophia if she's gotten everything she's wanted, to which she replies "Sure..."

Making your way to the entrance, you stop to pay for it and momentarily marvel at the technology used to process your purchases. A little gun scans each one, while the number above the machine grows higher and higher. When it's all accounted for it adds up to 35$! Sophia hands them the money, and you realize you only have 365 pieces of paper left! Little do these store Things know that soon you won't have to pay for a meal for quite a while...

On your way back to the hotel you inform Sophia of your plan, and she remains silent for a moment before saying "Hmmm... Okay, I get it, our money isn't gonna last forever after all. But if you do it all by yourself I'll just be worried for you back at the hotel. Bring me with you." You almost put up an argument against it, that it could be dangerous, that if she gets caught she could get into trouble, but then you see the look in her eyes. That tiny flame smoldering within. Realizing its useless to argue, you assent, and when you get back to the hotel you both plan all afternoon about how to get it done perfectly. Sophia makes you both a meal with the food you purchased while you wait for nightfall, and while your hunger is quite sated, it will be less distracting for the night. You also try the "lemon" with her, and she bursts into laughter when your whole body scrunches inward and you spit the sour chunk out, wheezing from disgust. How can she like this stuff?!
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXCoPAJELIY&list=LL&index=167

Eventually though, night falls, and Sophia makes you wait even further until 2:00 AM, and finally then you make your move. You walk back to the store under the cover of night and find it completely deserted. Walking around to the back, you find a lone door but unfortunately it is locked. You almost despair when that quiet voice whispersLet me take care of this... Trusting it, you let it take control of your body for a moment and watch as it places your hand against the lock, and you feel the flesh in your hand morph, becoming softer and half jellified, pushing into the keyhole and filling it completely. It only takes a moment to get it into the right spot, and then it turns your hand quickly to the right, and you feel it as the door unlocks! Thanking your silent partner, Sophia signals you to put your improvised masks on, two pillow cases from your room with eyeholes cut into them.

You enter first and immediately sense a mind signal inside the store. It seems it wasn't quite as deserted as you thought, but fortunately it's only one. All it takes is slight manipulation of it's senses for it to no longer be able to notice you're there, and you make your way into the store. This time you tell Sophia she can have as much of whatever she wants, and not to worry about the Thing within. She immediately darts off toward the confectionary aisle, while you make for the meat. Before long, you both meet up back at the back with two carts full of produce, meats and sweets and while you can't see her face you know she's grinning.

On the way back to the hotel there are a couple close calls, but somehow nobody stops you or bothers you about your obviously stolen food. That night you and Sophia stay up into the early morning, feasting and toasting to each others skills. When you awaken in the noon, still almost sickeningly full, you take stock of your biomatter stores and see that you've only barely made a dent in your supplies. This should last you long enough for you to complete your takeover without having to worry about starvation! You also sense in City Hall that your pollen blob has done good work so far, as several biosignals are beginning to feel less like Things and more like you. Now all you need to do is decide on what the next move is...

>Find a Thing in the town and Commune with it. We've been using the scientists faces for too long now. If even one Spiral operative identifies us, then we'll be in a lot of trouble.

>Look for another place to stay at. Ambassador's right, but I think finding a new place to hide out in is better. People may have already began to notice that somethings off, and if the wrong people start looking into us here, we'll be easy prey here.

>Place another pollen glob in the vents of the Hotel. MORE SOLDIERS FOR OUR WAR AGAINST THE SPIRAL!

What? So we commune with a hobo, take his identity and act as if he stole a bunch of food and then get sent to jail for it? How is that beter than what I suggested? >FIND A NEW BODY TO WEAR... SUCCESS

Yes, you think you've stayed in these old skins long enough. Honestly, using the bodies of the scientists in civilization this long like you have been, it's a wonder you haven't been caught. Or are they just amassing their forces, waiting for the perfect time to strike? No matter, you think, giving yourself over to paranoia will get you nowhere. Instead, you tell Sophia that you're going for a walk. Sophia mumbles something before rolling over in her bed, snoring.

Making your way through the hotel, you think on who the best target would be. After much deliberation, you come to the conclusion that one of the several homeless and "junkies" would be best. If one of them goes missing, there wouldn't be too much of a dust up over it, you think. And besides, they're not really going missing. Wandering through the town, you eventually spot a likely candidate, an older bearded man in dirty scruffy clothes pushing a cart full of plastic bags, much like the one you stole last night. Wait... That is the cart you stole! You dumped it on the outside of town last night after you brought your supplies back to the hotel, and this enterprising soul repurposed it for his own use.

Yes... You think this one will do nicely. You're already in the form of a young woman, and so you approach him and begin to make conversation. He is of course wary at first, but either your form or your Ambassadors honeyed words cause him to lower his guard, and before long you invite him to the hotel with the promise of payment for "work". The man seems positively delighted by this, it seems he has been a stranger to kindness for quite a while...

When you get back to the hotel, the female hotel manager whos mind you altered only needs a few psychic nudges to make her realize that your room is really 101, not 404, and so she gives you the key without argument. Leading the man into the room, he asks "Sho... Wass this work you wont me to do, young lady?" with a strange gleam in his eyes. You approach him and wrap both arms around his shoulders, and pull him in for a hug. He begins to giggle, until your Communion organ bursts through your skull and covers his entire face, masking his screams. It only takes a few moments for your tendrils to pierce his skull, burrowing into the tender mush within.
>>
A flood of images and emotions fills your minds, this mans life, his hopes, his failures, and his eventual surrender to despair. This man has truly led a hard, lonely existence. But you take comfort in the knowledge that by joining with you, his pain and loneliness ends, and he has joined something far greater than what he was before. You wait in the hotel room for a while for the images and feelings to pass, and then you exit the room in his form, who blearily informs you that his name was Nathanial Bradford.

What you see when you leave however, surprises you: Two men in black suits talking to the manager at the desk holding... a picture of one of the scientists and Sophia! Eavesdropping on them, you hear them spin a tale of investigating the recent break in at the supermarket, with Sophia being the main culprit! Panic almost overcomes you when some older part of you reasserts control, forcing you to think calmly on just how to handle this problem.

>Quickly wipe the managers memory of you and Sophia ever being here. This isn't without risk, but if she tells them that we're here, we will be in a very bad situation.

>Find Sophia and try to leave the hotel without being detected. If only there was some way for her to take on the form of another Thing...

>WIPE THE MEMORY OF THE MANAGER WITHOUT ALERTING THE AGENTS... SUCCESS

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Az79T9vJCog&list=LL&index=67

You walk down the hall past the desk and out of sight of the agents, and as quickly as you can, you stretch out your mind past your physical boundaries and into hers. When you enter her mindscape, you pay no attention to the seemingly endless dingy hotel rooms stretching within. You soon come upon a room full of rusty filing cabinets, quickly spotting one with the words "MEMORIES" stenciled on the front. All it takes is a thought for the cabinet to burst open, and you sift through her memories like a predator searching for prey. Thankfully it seems that time here on the inside passes slower than time on the outside, but still you hurry.

Then... There! Buried deep within the stack of papers and photographs is one of you in the form of a young woman and Sophia, holding out a bundle of paper. You reach out and grip it with your tendrils and then tear it to shreds. With your work almost completed, you quickly stuff all the files back into the cabinet and leave, with the woman herself seemingly none the wiser. Walking back into the lobby, you see the manager grab the photograph from the agents, consider it for a moment, and then hand it back saying "Pretty girl, but... I've never seen her before. Good luck catching her officers." If the agents are disappointed, they don't show it, and they thank the woman for her time and then turn to leave.

With that all the tension leaves your body, and you internally breathe a big sigh of relief. But then... One of the agents, a dark skinned man with eyes shrouded by black glasses turns to look at you. You quickly break eye contact and begin to walk past him, letting Nathaniel take over a little to make your mumbling more authentic. You feel him reach out towards your arm as you pass, and then his partner says "Come on Sam, they've gotta be in this town somewhere."

"Yeah. Right..." "Sam" spares you one more glance before walking past you, out of the hotel. You wait for them to pass out of sight, and then finally your hearts stop pounding. You're going to have to do something about them if you want to remain in this town, and soon.

>They think they've got you cornered. It's time to turn the tables and bring the hunt to them. WE ARE NOT PREY!

>Go inform Sophia of your near miss with the agents. She deserves to know, and maybe she could give us some advice on what to do. At the very least, it can't hurt to have someone to bounce ideas off of.

Returning to your room in the hotel, you find that Sophia is still asleep. Not wanting to wake her, you sit on the floor with your legs crossed, and close your eyes. It takes a while for your hearts to slow to a steady pace, and longer still for your thoughts to stop racing. Eventually though, you can clearly make out the mindsignals of those infected in City Hall, at least two dozen lights shining in the darkness, their glow shining a little differently than the others.

With but a thought, your soul exits your fleshy cell, through the glass and into the sky above. You fly for a while before gently lowering down into the building, and then you simply watch them for a while, looking at their thought patterns and trying to pick out the one who would be most useful to you. There it is, one mind shining with patterns of authority and ego, what a cursory glance in it's mind reveals it to be the "mayor". You enter it's mind and find it to be a neatly organized office building, and it only takes a few minutes to sift through it's memories for the two agents. They've already talked with this mayor it seems, saying they were federal agents on a manhunt for a dangerous duo of murderers.

All it takes then is to find it's emotional core, and surprisingly when you reach the part of it's mind that associates certain emotions with certain memories, you see that it already has a dislike for these two agents. Perhaps they rubbed him the wrong way, or maybe the idea of someone above the mayor being in this town, taking over the local law enforcement and answering to no one messes with the mayor's grossly oversized ego.

Either way, it only takes a few well placed alterations to turn it's dislike for the agents into seething hatred, and it's distrust of them into outright paranoia. Yes, you think that the agents will be surprised to find that the mayor really doesn't like them in his town. With that done, you decide that the need for finely manipulating each officials mind isn't necessary, and instead you give broad instructions to the pollen cells in the infected ones to do the work on their minds themselves.
>>
This will buy you some time at least. But on the matter of your pollen, it makes you wonder if keeping your infected Things within the bounds of their original shells is such a good idea. Sure it keeps attention off of you, but if you are suddenly attacked by agents of the Spiral, your infected allies won't be able to stand up for long against their training and armaments. Decisions decisions...

>Keep those in City Hall in their normal forms, but change those already infected in the hotel into Things like you, ready for combat and eminently adaptable, while keeping them out of sight from the general public. THE LOOK THAT AGENT GAVE US, I THINK IT KNOWS... WE MUST BE READY.

>You wonder if Sophia would be open to more... overt alterations to her form. Perhaps we should ask her about it while we tell her about our encounter with the agents. I know that in the coming war she will be of utmost importance to us, but she is still just a young girl. Broach the subject gently.

>Your sense of unease has only heightened since your run in with the agents. We should move to another hotel, or even an abandoned building within the town. That near miss was too close for me, we're not ready for open conflict yet. Hide, and gather our strength.

Also, as an aside, I'm looking forward to cultivating new abilities and senses that the Spiral glowies haven't anticipated. A rattlesnakes venom and infrared vision, a sharks electro-reception, spider silk and heightened sense of touch, etc.

I'm also very supportive of the 'invisible plant-Thing' build, but If we can capture something like a large bird, we could even develop the ability to fucking *fly*. WE MUST COMMUNE WITH ALL THE THINGS! IT IS OUR SACRED MISSION!

That's gonna be real hard at the weights we operate at, probably impossible without significant sacrifice like big vulnerable gas sacs or shitty hollow bones and an obscenely visible wingspan. I'd rather transition to an underground or underwater form since humans are awful at both of those terrains unlike the air with the airforce and whatnot.

An army of stealthy, spore-spreading drones on the other hand are an entirely different matter.

Time to go to the junkies hotel. Once we are there use our pollen to transform them and make a hive of the place. Also, altering there bodies can be done internally(increased bone density, muscles, thicker skin, tissue regeneration, etc.)

>FIND A NEW PLACE TO HIDE... GREAT SUCCESS

The Survivor is right, they are getting far too close to you here, it's only a matter of time before they figure it out and raid the hotel. But where will you go...? You approach the windows in your room and discreetly pry the shutters apart. Once again, evening approaches and the crowds and traffic within the town thins. Even this late, every building you see looks to still be bustling with activity, and only knowing of one other hotel in the town, you feel as though your options are limited.

Then, you feel movement behind you and see Sophia finally stirring from her hibernation. Blearily rubbing her eyes, she sits up and looks at you staring through the window and says "So... Did something happen? I felt like... Like something bad almost happened, in my dreams. I could see through your eyes, I saw the old man and the two men in black. Was that really a dream or did something actually happen?" Seeing no reason to withhold the information from her, you tell her of your need for a new set of skin to blend in, and your encounter with the Spiral agents. She seems surprised, but mostly at the fact that she apparently saw through your eyes in her sleep.

When you tell her of your plans to find a new hideout, she comments offhandedly "Ya know, I did see what looked like an old abandoned factory just outside of town when we came through here. I'll be honest though, I'd much rather stay at a place with air heating, and showers, and toilets and stuff." When you inform her that if the Spiral captures you she'll be lucky to be left alive, she grumbles something about how she supposes being in a dingy old factory would be better than a 6 feet deep hole.

You both agree to wait until later in the the night to make your move, assuming that there would hopefully be less eyes on you in the dark than the light. In the meanwhile, you watch TV, snack on your stolen groceries, and make conversation about your hopes and dreams for the future. Eventually, the town seems to have fully rumbled into sleep for the night, and you tell Sophia that now's the time to make the move. You decide to have her wait in the room while you search the factory for any squatters, telling her that you'll send her a signal when it's safe. You make your way through the towns back streets in the form of the homeless Thing you Communed with, and eventually pavement and brick gives way to wood and grass. There it is, just outside of town and made of brown, stained brick, the old skeleton of once potent industry.
>>
Straining your biosense, you are relived to feel nothing within that feels like a Thing, or any large biosignal at all. You circle the building looking for an entrance, before finding each door to be locked. Fortunately, there are a couple broken windows that you find are low enough to climb through, and so you clamber your way inside....

Yes... This will do nicely for your plans. Large, spacious, out of the way and out of sight. Easily fortified as well... The only problem is the lack of civilized amenities, but Sophia made due in the woods for a week, you think she can handle a slightly run down old factory for a while. You send the signal over to Sophia through your biobond, telling her that it's safe and to come down with the food, and letting her know you've arranged for one of the infected to help with transporting the goods. Indeed, this will be a good place to raise an army...

THE TIGHTENING NOOSE

The High Tower

Aaaahhh... Tobias Gray. What a fucking disappointment. He was chosen as director of Black Site Omega 616 because of his... lack of scruples and his genius. His tenacity to get the job done, at any cost. But in his core, in his very soul, he was weak. I knew letting his invalid daughter stay at the site would be a security risk, but he made it clear that they were a package. What a mistake that turned out to be... Oh well, he'll have plenty of time to consider his personal failings under the tender ministrations of the personnel at Black Site 404 Zeta. Maybe one day I'll allow him a chance to redeem himself, if he's still alive by then.

Maybe not.

As for his daughter, while he cried and begged and threatened for us to leave her alone, it was decided that she still has some use, a consolation prize of sorts for the loss of Subject 438-C. Some among us wanted her to be terminated, an extra bit of punishment for the dear Director, but I saw the potential in her. A living being filled to the brim with 438's cells, yet somehow with it's own mind and free will. She will be tested and tested and tested to find out the extent of her new gifts, or if she can even use them. So there's that, at least. But it's still only a consolation prize...

No matter. Our agents in the field have tracked the Subject and the girl it's absconded with to a one horse town somewhere in the middle of nowhere. I'll admit, it was harder than expected. The Thing did not act according to previous data, most of the eggheads figured the trail of destruction and barren fields would lead us to it in a matter of days, but it's been almost two months at this point with very few signs. Still, agent's Du Bois and Warren are fairly certain that it is in this... Sneedville. Their reports show some of the townspeople acting rather oddly, and the break in at the local supermarket with only food stolen supposedly being a sure sign. I've ordered for two dozen agents to infiltrate the town just on the off chance that it is actually there, equipped with tranquilizers, and if it comes to it, flamethrowers.

Yes... The noose is tightening. Subject 438-C must not escape. I still have grand plans for it...

........................................................................................................................................................
>>
>TWO WEEKS LATER....

SUBJECT 438-C "THE THING"

You've done a good job at fortifying the old factory. You think that they're relatively hard to notice, at least from the outside. And Sophia's been a big help as well, increasing the size of your army via luring in the unsuspecting to be welcomed into your fold. By now you think you have about two dozen allies made up of transients, homeless and junkies plucked from the Blue Motel, not counting all those infected within City Hall. But you aren't the only one at work within Sneedville. No, Sophia and your allies have noticed those agents asking around about you and her, and she thinks the number's growing.

They're multiplying.

And during that time, the psychic signal from your lost tortured brethren has only grown stronger, and you rarely go a night without dreaming of it. Sophia's been having the same problem, and you'll frequently catch her staring at the west, with a strange gleam in her eyes. Yes... You'll have to leave soon, before the call grows to be unbearable. But until then, you still have a town to take over...

>Use a pollen glob to infect the town's police station. Sophia's told us that these "police" Thing's basically run things, and more importantly are armed to the teeth. We could use those weapons and their bodies.

>Begin picking off the agents within the town, using Sophia and your allies to help. WE CAN'T ALLOW THEM TO GROW FORTIFIED, IF THEY LEARN OF OUR BASE AND STRIKE ALL AT ONCE WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SURVIVE THE BATTLE. WEAKEN THEM.

>Attempt to unlock Sophia's potential, allowing her the ability to evolve at will like you. While our improvements to her body do help, they aren't enough to win a war. I doubt she'd consent to us turning her into... Well, us, but if we just allow her the ability to change her own body, it would be a start and a big boon. All it would take is waking up her dormant cells a little...

I don't doubt that each and every one of them are highly skilled. Image how much work we could get done if we infected all of them, on top of augmenting them? We'd too much for the Spiral dudes to deal with.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tardigrade#Habitat
>Tardigrades are often found on lichens and mosses, for example by soaking a piece of moss in water.[19] Other environments in which they are found include dunes and coasts generally, soil, leaf litter, and marine or freshwater sediments, where they may occur quite frequently (up to 25,000 animals per litre). One tardigrade, Echiniscoides wyethi,[20] may be found on barnacles.[21]
Water bears. We NEED to eat a bunch of these guys. Image the weirdness we'd be capable of if we adapted their jeans to our own use. I think they might even be tolerant to fires? For a time.

Shit you're doing the BIG THINKIN now aren'cha? I'm telling you now. We can 100% do that right now. All we gotta do is eat an eagle, flesh change it, then have it fly until it hits the ocean. From there our separate lump can eat some fish to adapt, and gradually make it's way down to the bottom.

It gets more fun when you combine kingdoms. The fun thing about the idea of freeform biocrafting is that you can do crazy shit like taking electroreception and electrocytes and sidegrading them with human knowledge of how electricity and electromagnetic waves work to become biological radios, literal power plants, powered buildings and appliances including weaponizable shit like microwaves, and all types of crazy shit.

>UNLOCK SOPHIA'S HIDDEN POTENTIAL... MODERATE SUCCESS

Your curiosity piqued, you ask the Ambassador just what exactly she intends to do.

Well... Her body is already full of our cells, and for the sake of normalcy they have gone dormant, almost indistinguishable from normal Thing cells. But they are still of us, and all it would take to awaken them is a simple psychic command. The tricky part is having Sophia be in full control of them, but I think I know a way to fix that...

You call Sophia over to you, away from the book she was reading on the stairs. When she approaches, she asks "So, what's up? Don't tell me you want me to go out and find another hobo again, there's barely any left in the town..." You tell her that won't be necessary for now, and that you have a different idea in mind, if she would consent. "Uh... What, exactly?" You let the Ambassador do the talking, telling her what she told you, that her cells are dormant but she can awaken them to great and wondrous powers, to use as she desires. "Great... Powers? What, like the stuff you can do?"

Sensing her hesitation, you tell her that the coming days may be full of battle, and that you want her to be able to defend herself. "Alright..." she says, "Would it... Hurt? To change my body like you do?" Letting her know that it would be painless, she finally assents, saying "Well, I guess it would be good to make myself stronger, or faster, or able to heal quicker. OK, d-do it!" You need no further encouragement, and so you reach out with your mind into her body, and begin the process of coaxing her cells back into wakefulness. At first she asks if you've started, and then she mentions a strange tingling sensation, all over. It takes 10 minutes of concentration, but eventually you begin to feel a... Push back, from her cells. You sense them beginning to murmur amongst themselves, no longer the silent cells that every other lifeform on this planet is made of.

You tell her that you're finished, and the rest is up to her. "Wha... What do I do?" "Think. Focus, Sophia, on becoming different. On changing your body into something better." She gives you a look for a moment, and then visibly concentrates. After a while, you begin to think that it may be impossible for her to change like you do, when suddenly you see hard bone sticking up from her finger tips! They push the skin under her nails outward, and then burst through, her fingernails popping off! What's there instead are sharp claws, reminiscent of the cat things claws that you and her hunted, weeks ago. Opening her eyes, she looks down at her hands, marveling at the changes. "Wow... How do I... Make them go back to normal?" "The same way you made them change." is all that the Ambassador replies with.
>>
That look of concentration appears on her face again, and before long you watch as the claws retreat back into her fingers, and normal Thing nails form back where they're supposed to be. "Alright I gotta admit, that's pretty rad hehe!"

Over the next few hours, you help Sophia in her experimentation with her new ability. Before long you think she's starting to get the hang of it, and you decide to get started on your other goal for the day: Infecting the local police station. Easier said than done of course, but you have a couple ideas on how to go about it...

>Go there yourself and use the same methods you used in City Hall to get inside and hide the pollen glob. While I don't think our quiet mutual friend will take over again for this one, we got this either way!

>Send in one of your infected allies, with the pollen glob hidden inside them. I don't want to risk us or Sophia being seen or captured, one of our allies will do for the job.

>Use this as a test for Sophia, and send her in to hide the pollen glob. THIS IS BUT A START FOR HER, I KNOW SHE WILL GO ON TO DO WONDEFUL THINGS.

When you tell Sophia of your plan, you can see the enthusiasm steadily melt off her face. She stutters "W-wait, what?! You want me to go hide that glob in the police station?! I-I like that you trust me but I don't know about this one..." You tell her that you know she will succeed, and that you'll be watching over her the whole time in case anything goes wrong. She balks, and then sighs and says "Sheesh... I guess I don't have much of a choice. But how am I gonna sneak in there? I mean, they're looking for me too. Hold on... Maybe I could...?"

You watch as she walks over to one of your allies and after a moment of hesitation, places her palm on it's arm. It's so subtle you almost missed it, but you think you can see the flesh on her hand entangling with the flesh of your ally! She lets go after a few moments, and places both of her hands on her face, covering it. You watch as her body begins to shift, contort and change into... Into the Thing she touched! When she removes her hands from her face, you no longer see the familiar face of Sophia, but of a young man!

She looks at her now hairy arms and hands, and gingerly touches her face. "Woah... This is kinda freaky..." she murmurs. You knew she would grow used to her powers quickly, but you didn't think she'd take to them quite this fast! You congratulate her on her quick wits, and then tell her that she should hurry if she wants to reach the station before it closes. "Alright alright, I'm going." She says as she takes the pollen glob out of your tendrils and then she walks towards the exit of your home. You watch as she walks out of view, and then, using the minds of those infected within the town as relays to bounce your own psyche off of, you follow her as she travels through Sneedville, steadily getting closer and closer to the station.

Eventually, she reaches it, and you feel fear and apprehension radiating from her mind before she audibly gulps, and enters the police station. Unfortunately, you don't have any infected within it for you to bounce your mind off of, and so with anxious nerves you wait and watch. Fortunately, you only have to wait 10 minutes before she exits, and you follow her as she walks back to the factory. You reach your own body just as she walks through the guarded entrance, and you see her body shift and change back into the normal Sophia you've known all this time.

"That was something else. I-I actually did it haha!" she says as she runs up to wrap you in a crushing hug! Clearly she's still feeling the adrenaline rush, and you feel your own pride in her swell up to even greater proportions. When she finally releases you, you ask her how she did it, and she catches her breath and says "It was easy really, but still pretty scary. I just told em I needed to use the bathroom, and when I got in there I just pushed the blob into a vent. They really should be more careful, hehe!"
>>
You tell her that she exceeded your expectations, to which she giggles and says "Really? Well then, don't you think I deserve a reward? How about we go see a movie? It's been a while since I've done anything normal."

A moo-v? That may not be a bad idea...

>While you do want to reward Sophia for her success, it is too risky to go out in public with all these agents sniffing around. A moo-v? Why not. You tell Sophia that that sounds just fine, and she smiles before covering her face and transforming back into the form of your male ally. You do the same, taking on the form of the old homeless man you Communed with several weeks ago. Sophia tells you that she's pretty sure she knows where the theatres at, and so you follow her out of the compound and into the town. The sun is setting, and if your time within civilization has taught you anything, it's that Thing's don't like it when the world goes dark, hopefully the theatre is still open by the time you find it.

And no wonder, the predators always come out in the night.

After a couple of wrong turns, you both finally come upon it. A beacon of light and life within the steadily darkening town. You are about to approach the building when Sophia stops you and asks what movie you'd like to see. Hmmm... Lets see... There's some poster with the words Pulp Fiction printed on the bottom, and female Thing lying down with some burning tube between her fingers. Next to it is a poster of a man standing in the rain, facing some light source in the distance. Interesting. Finally you turn to a poster with several strange animals on in front of a bright blue sky. This one speaks to you, or perhaps it's speaking to the memory of your battle with the cat things, these creatures on the poster resembling them closely.

Still though, you figure that since this is mostly for Sophia, you tell her it's her choice.

"Really? I get to pick? Well well well, hehe. I've heard this Pulp Fiction movie is really good, but also really vulgar and gory. And the Shawshank flick seems like it could be neat, but I don't really know much about it. Oooh! The Lion King! I always loved Disney movies as a kid, lets go see that!"

With the moo-v chosen, you both approach the booth outside of the theatre. Sophia almost steps in but you feel as though you need to practice your ability to blend in, and so you walk up to the terminally bored looking adolescent manning the booth and ask for two tickets for the Lion King. They barely take their eyes off their picture book as they take your money and hand you two small slips of paper, the words ADMIT ONE stamped on each.
>>
Entering the building, the smell of cooking... Something draws you to the front desk. You glance at the menu above the desk for a moment, and then ask the young woman behind it what that smell is. She gives you an odd look and tells you it's "popcorn". Pop... Corn? You tell her you'd like some, and Sophia quickly pipes up and asks for two large "Cokes" as well, and the female quickly scoops up a large amount into a bucket, and hands it to you before filling two large cups with a dark bubbling liquid. You ask her how much it all is and your hearts nearly stop when she tells you the price... 20 dollars?! Checking your reserves of cash, after you pay this you'll only have 245 strips of green paper left!

Grumbling, you hand over the bills and you and Sophia collect your prizes: A large tub of greasy yellow stuff and two cups of mystery fluid. You begin to wonder how such a simple meal could cost so much as you take a sip of the "Coke" and then... Then... Holy shit! It's amazing! It takes supreme force of will to stop yourself from guzzling the whole cup then and there, and you faintly hear Sophia giggle as you marvel at the ambrosia. "Good, right? I knew you'd like it haha!" Yes, you agree, it is wonderful. Succulents acquired, you both finally make your way to the screening, stopping momentarily to hand over your tickets to a gangly pimple faced adolescent.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CF-c1K3WWg4

Entering the screening room, you both find a seat near the back and get comfortable, watching what Sophia calls "trailers", and you ask several times when the moo-v is going to start. You're about to ask a third time just as the trailer for some humorous film starring a mentally handicapped Thing ends, when the lights begin to dim. This time you do ask if the moo-v is starting and Sophia shushes you, whispering "Yes dummy, now quiet down!" Feeling reprimanded, you lean back as the screen shows the sun rise over a arid land, underscored by a man singing in a language you don't understand...

............................................................................
........................................................
>>
Unfortunately, by the time the credits roll down the screen you have long since devoured all the popcorn, as well as drained your very large cup of Coke. The film was interesting, an incredibly unrealistic portrayal of life in a arid Savannah. Still, you think you learned something by watching these "animals". Their struggles, their ambitions, and most of all, the ties that bind them to not only their kin, but also to the land itself. You were especially fascinated by the lion named Scar. In some ways, you are a lot like him. You have your family, you have your ambitions, and you have your enemies. Just as you turn to Sophia to ask her if she liked the moo-v, she says with a bright grin

"Whew, that was... Great! The animation was really good, and all the animals were so cute! Even Scar was cool, in a smug asshole kind of way. What did you think about it?"

You consider telling her about your shared fascination with the Scar character, or the parallels you see in the animal world and the world of the Things, but then decide against it, simply saying "It was good. I'm glad you liked it Sophia." She smiles at you, and tells you that she appreciates you doing this for her. And then she ruins the moment by complaining about you devouring all the popcorn in less than 30 minutes. Still, you are glad that she's glad, and you both begin to make your way back to the compound, stumbling at first from your wobbly legs...

.....................................................................

When you make it back to the compound, the lunar sister of the sun has risen high in the sky, and when you both walk through the heavily guarded secret entrance, Sophia stretches, yawning while saying "Oooohhh... I'm going to bed Thingy, that movie made me kinda... Sleeeepy..." She then stumbles to her room, a repurposed storage room filled with as many amenities as you could get without drawing attention. You however are content to sleep on the ground in the middle of the compound, and as you lay down and reenter your true form, you vaguely feel the tug of evolution as you drift off to sleep...
>>
>YOU HAVE REACHED THE NEXT STAGE OF YOUR EVOLUTION
>YOU HAVE 102 EVOLUTION POINTS TO SPEND

>Basic eyes, your continued ocular growth allows you to see much further, and with improved clarity. Your vision in the dark has also improved, allowing you to see 50 feet in near complete darkness. 20 points

>Basic legs, your legs become even thicker, now able to kick with much more force. With this improved adaptation, you move faster, jump farther and are much more balanced. 20 points

>Basic tendrils, your tendrils grow even stronger and longer, and your continued practice with them has made you even more dexterous in their use. 20 points

>Basic claws and sharper teeth, your natural weapons grow again, now becoming entirely bone, as well as lengthening a bit more. They grow much sharper as well, and from both your battle experience as well combat simulations your more restless cells have been running in the background, you feel much more competent in the art of cutting your enemies to shreds. 20 points

>Superior Intelligence, you have begun to truly surpass those Things that were once your captors. With this growth in your mind, you think faster, come up with better plans, and your ability to both understand this world and control your body will have improved greatly. 70 points

Basic skeletal structure, the bones within your body grow even harder, becoming much tougher and able to withstand great force before breaking or fracturing. Your stronger bones also make your limbs and tendrils stronger, able to exert and withstand much more weight and pressure than before, as well as improving your poise and balance. 20 points

>Primitive mouth, tongue, and sharper teeth, with this improvement you can more easily identify harmful biomatter, and also can do some damage with those chompers of yours. And your tongue becomes forked along with more subtle changes inside, allowing you with periodically flicking your tongue out, giving you the ability to taste the air and sense your prey better, although not as well as with a proper olfactory system. 10 points

>Primitive olfactory system, continuing down the dubious path of smells allows you to follow a scent for longer as well as becoming more able to pick out individual scents from a area with many smelly smells. 10 points

>Primitive scales, your new scales become a good deal tougher, and are now much more able to insulate you from both the heat and the cold, as well as becoming tougher to help with deflecting and resisting attacks. 10 points
>>
>Rudimentary asexual reproduction, this allows you become a proud... Thing. Through a couple days of incubation, you will lay eggs that, if protected and kept in the proper environment, will allow you to give birth to lifeforms, who will instinctually follow your commands. They will be weak, tiny, and almost defenseless for now, but continue down this path, and you can become a veritable army making machine... 10 points.

>Rudimentary bait defense system, you grow a tendril that's fat and brightly colored, that when in danger you can harmlessly detach from your body. it will wriggle around and attract the attention of any predator you wish to flee from, at least momentarily. 5 points.

>Rudimentary gills, growing these allows you to breathe underwater, although you will be pretty uncomfortable and your gills ability to filter grime and debris are rather lackluster. 5 points

>Average photosynthesis, you are beginning to become more plant than mammal, and the act of turning sunlight into fuel is becoming second nature for you. With this upgrade, you now passively produce 4 EP with every day spent in the sunlight.

>Rudimentary fins, these allow you to swim more easily and with more speed, although they are fragile and damage very easily. 5 points

>Average pollen generation, taking over minds and bodies is becoming routine, and your repeated successes at it have improved both yours and your pollen cells knowledge on other creatures’ bodies, making the whole process much faster and more efficient. 80 points

>Rudimentary fur, your body becomes covered in a black fur, insulating your body against both heat and cold, although you stay much warmer in the cold with this than with scales, but scales keep you cooler in the heat, as well as providing slightly better protection. Still, this is a must in frigid climates. 5 points

>Basic adapted communion, through continued experience and specialization, your Communion organ is even more efficient than before, and now when you Commune you lose only a little of the precious biomatter of those you Commune with, and your adapted Communion is only slightly less efficient than either pure Communion or assimilation. One step further, one new friend made, very soon you really will have the best of both worlds! 40 points

>Third cell consolidation, you instruct your cells to commit a form of cannibalism, compacting your form and reducing both hunger and overall energy spent per cycle. Best used creatively. 20 points.

>Rudimentary insectoid strength, your body begins to tack on more muscle mass all over, which can be activated for brief moments of increased strength, when brute force is absolutely necessary. 20 points
>>
>Average biosense/telepathy, your soul has grown to be a vast and deep ocean, and soon only the strongest minds will be able to resist you. You are beginning to stand up with the greatest of the ancient philosophers and thinkers of ages past. 120 points

>Primitive efficient metabolism, your cells are becoming even more conservative when it comes to how and where biomatter is used up, allowing you to get even more fuel from less of the stuff while lessening your hunger. 20 points
>>
>>5192069

I feel like we are fine with our ability to make an army, a big general physical upgrade could be good as we kinda neglected that area so far.

Asexual reproduction has been neglected for too long imo, it could be very useful in the long term. Pollen has always been useful so upgrade that too.

Alright it looks pretty split this time, so I'll let you pick between
>Intelligence+Asexual+Scales= -90 EP

And you can add on whatever extra adaptations that you can afford to these two options if you want.

12 points doesn't give us a lot to work with. Primitive olfactory system or Rudimentary fur + rudimentary bait defense (preferably the two rudimentary, primitive as a tie breaker)

As you rest overnight, your cells remain active. Your dreams are perforated with the feeling of growing tougher, as well as more... Numerous. In your dreams, the random mishmash of images and emotions begin to sharpen, gaining clarity as well as definition. The chaos within your mind gradually grows more ordered, and your understanding of your selves and the dream space around you becomes more acute.

As your dreams become regimented, something strange happens within: you begin to sprout several strange growths on your body, poking through your flesh and then peeling off once they grow too large. The oddest thing about them though is their eyes, curious and cunning. And then they speak to you in the high pitched voice of children. They ask for direction, for your understanding of the world, for your approval and guidance. Something swells within your hearts at the sight of your progeny, a feeling similar to how you feel when you think of Sophia.

You spend much of your dreams playing with your children, teaching them the ways of the world and how to survive, and you barely notice as your scales harden, protecting you against the playful nips of your brood. Eventually however, you feel your body stirring, and reality reasserts itself in your mind. You awaken, no longer surrounded by your children, but you do feel something... Separate from the rest of you, yet still an undeniable part to your form. Perhaps those dream children weren't completely imaginary? You look around and see Sophia, sitting on a makeshift chair and reading some kind of book, and you can just make out the words "Cujo" set in bright red on the front.

Noticing your rising form, she says "Morning sleepyhead. Your scales look shinier by the way, did you sneak off and take a bath or something?" That confirms it then, your dreams weren't completely imagined. Perhaps that strange feeling inside your body are the faint whispers of your unborn children? Every part of you, even the Warrior, wants to bring those small creatures out of your mind and into the world. But who's advice should you listen to about their function?

>Give birth to combat ready children. THEY MAY BE WEAK FOR NOW, BUT THEY SHALL STILL BE USEFUL IN THE UPCOMING WAR!

>Give birth to hunter-gatherer children. In times of need, they shall hunt and forage to supply the rest of us, and in times of plenty they will be able to act as our eyes and ears in the outside world.

>Give birth to mobile pollen globlike children. We can let them explore at night, and find the best hidden nooks and crannies to nest in and fulfill their purpose. With them we will be able to bring even more Things to the fold!

I hadn't considered that yet, but that is an option if you guys vote for it. At this level of reproduction however your babies won't be able to absorb a lot of information all at once, but if you keep upgrading it they will improve in all manners of tasks, including that one.

As always, the Ambassador knows best. More allies, more friends, more family! At the feeling of loneliness growing your hearts, you feel another, stranger growth take place. A gurgling building in your Communion Organ interrupts your thoughts, and you think you can almost feel the small lives of your unborn children taking shape. This is... Different than Communion. It is as if you are Communing with yourselves. An intense pressure builds within you, and the desire to release it becomes all encompassing.

Moaning, your back splits open and your Communion organ slithers out, and as it flops to the floor, splattering viscous fluids everywhere, Sophia jumps back. She asks "What the... What's going on T?" You can barely ignore the extreme pressure just long enough to answer her "L-life! Huurrgh... Birth! CHILDREEEEEEN!" and try as you might, you can't stifle the scream that erupts from your mouth as one large flesh lump squeezes it's way through your organ, stretching it and finally plopping on to the ground, twitching! You don't have time to inspect it before you feel the pressure grow again, as another child pushes it's way out of you. And another, and another until you have 10 quaking, quivering babies curled up on the ground.

When it is finally finished, buried under your exhaustion is the feeling of great pride in your progeny. Finally you have experienced the greatest act that any lifeform can undetake: Reproduction. Looking at them, they resemble you in many ways, with green skin, tendrils, mouths, legs and a large yellow sac steadily breathing and making a quiet wheezing sound. You grab each one with your tendrils and pull them close to your body, cradling them. Then you feel a slight nip as each one takes a tendril and pushes it into your flesh, sucking out your blood and fluids to sustain them. Sparing a glance at Sophia, you are surprised to see a slight smiled forming on her lips. "Ya know, this is probably the grossest thing I've ever seen but it's kind of cute. In an absolutely disgusting way. But... You're kind of a sweetheart T, you know that?"

OF COURSE WE'RE SWEET! WE'RE THE GREATEST ORGANISM TO EVER GRACE THIS WORLD! WAIT... WHAT DID SHE CALL US?
>>
You feel the warrior push through in your mind and force the words to come out of your mouth "WHY ARE YOU CALLING US T, SOPHIA? WHAT DOES IT MEAN?" She giggles a little at the question and says "Well gee, I got kinda tired of saying 'hey you' all the time, so I figured T is as good a name as any. Ya know, short for Thingy."

"HMMMM... I LIKE IT. GOOD STRONG NAME. THANK YOU." and then you feel the Warrior slither back to the recesses of your mind, and you feel his pride in yourselves swelling within his usual hiding place: Your gut. For several hours you all sit there, your growing family suckling your flesh while Sophia reads Cujo, until eventually they fall asleep. Tomorrow, they will begin their journey into town, to fulfill your plans, and you can't help but feel a bit worried for them. But if they are anything like you, you have nothing to fear. But while you are thinking of your plans, you consider just what they should do within town...

>Send them to the houses within Sneedville. Soon we will have the entire town on our side, not just their leaders. The Spiral agents days in Sneedville are numbered!

>Send them after the Spiral agents themselves. THEY MUST BE STAYING IN THE HOTELS WITHIN THE TOWN, AND WHAT COULD BE BETTER BUT TURNING OUR ENEMIES AGAINST THEMSELVES?!

Wait for a day or two, teach them, train them (for stealth and climbing into air vents and produce large amounts of pollen). Learn their capabilities, this is new territory for us as well. We need to know how smart they are (how well follow orders-are they like childs?)and the time between feedings.
After that send them to the frequently populated areas : supermarket, city hall, police station, hospital, school, hotels, etc.

Spiral agents are the greatest threat against us and they would probably notice something if the whole town is converted.
Better converting them to make their superiors believe that everything is fine here and get some intel on Spiral.

>TRAIN YOUR NEWBORNS... GREAT SUCCESS

As you gaze upon your brood, you realize that you can't send them out into the cold, dangerous world. Not yet. Not as they are now. To see them get hurt would break your heart, not to mention the danger of confirming the Spiral agents suspicions. No, you shall train them and teach them all that you know, for while you can't do anything for their weak bodies, their minds can be sharpened like talons. For now though, you let them rest and suckle overnight, and while you try to keep a watchful eye on them overnight, eventual the sheer exhaustion from childbirth wins out over your maternal (paternal?) instincts, and you soon fall asleep without realizing it.

In your dreams, your children are nowhere to be seen.

>Powered by sunlight from yesterday and the day before, you gain 6 EP!

When you awaken in a panic, you feel immense relief when you find your progeny right where you left them. Gently, you rouse them from their own slumber, and enlist the help of Sophia for a little brainstorming session on just how exactly you'll turn these adorable blobs of flesh into useful soldiers for your army...

............................................................................

It was hard, painstaking work over the course of three days training them, chastising them, rewarding them for success, and back to training again. Fortunately, it seems they've picked up a bit of your own intelligence and are rather quick learners. You teach them everything you know about combat, about Things and their society, about the Spiral and how to identify them, and so on. Sophia was indispensable in their training, as you couldn't be with each one at the same time, and so you and her split your duties among the 10, and you are pleasantly surprised to find her to be a firm but gentle teacher. By the end of the third day, you have quickly transformed soft doughy lumps of meat into... Moderately less soft, doughy lumps of meat. Still, a success is a success, and you are certain that they are a good deal more able to fend for themselves and complete your missions.

Now, you just have to decide on what to do with them...
>>
>For three days of impromptu bootcamp and the grace of the sun guiding you, you have gained 20 EP! Leaving you with a total of 32 Evolution Points!

>Your students are still too inept to target your greatest foes, and so you will go after the Spiral agents in their stead. THEY ARE OUR LEGACY, WE CANNOT ALLOW THEM TO FALL INTO THE WRONG HANDS!

>You had an idea the other day of sending them into population centers like grocery stores and clinics. If we send them in at night they should be able to find a vent to hide in without getting noticed.

>Those Things within City Hall and the local police station must be mostly infected by now, have them stage suicide attacks on Spiral agents, while you hunt for one of their leaders while they're distracted. A bit risky, sure, but if it works we could end up with a mole in the Spiral, or at least gain information on their plans.

>INFECT THE TOWNS POPULATION CENTERS... TTTTTTTRRRRRIIIIPPPPPLLEEE CRITICAL SUCCESS!!!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89jOPAGJq-M

You decide that sending them to finalize your hold over the town of Sneedville would be best, and so you wait until nightfall with your growing family, doing the best you can to impart as much tips and tricks for survival as you can to the little ones. Finally, the sun disappears over the horizon and the moon rises high into the night sky. The time is now. With an aching heart, you send them off, and watch through the windows as they amble into the brush and out of sight. However, their minds are not out of your reach, and so you keep a careful eye on them as they locomote outside of the woods and into the towns outskirts.

The first one you birthed does something unexpected, and you feel a great pressure build up in its mind before it rises high above it's kin. You didn't think this was possible! Before long, it's other brothers and sisters follow suit and soon they are all towering over the town! But... What's that?! You feel a mind glowing red with fear and anger below your children, and then another, and then another, until at least two dozen of these wroth minds gather below. You float down to them, and you can make out the words "Target, no, targets sighted! There's at least ten of them, requesting immediate reinforcements!

And coming from a strange device on his shoulder you hear a reply: "Copy Cobra-1, they should get there in about 5 minutes. Hold position and do NOT engage until ordered to do so." you hear grumbling from "Cobra", and then he says "Understood..."

You feel an icy tendril of fear worm it's way up your spine. You've been found out! And they're sending more! This very, very bad. But then, the fear leave you as suddenly as it came on. You hear a voice, a very meek and quiet voice speak up from within. Don't be afraid. Don't you see? This is the best thing that can happen. If we play this right, every spiral agent in the area will be within our grip! Let this play out...

The calm in that quiet part of you is infectious, and soon you do see the advantage of this situation. They don't know that these are pollenlings, they don't know their true capabilities! And just as your little conversation with yourself finishes, you hear the rumble of heavy machinery, heading into the town. Five large black vans, and a couple cars roll up to where the agents have gathered. They come to a screeching halt and then... dozens and dozens of armed men in black gear spill out! And... They have no masks!
>>
AHAHAHAHAAHAH THE FOOLS! THE DAMN FOOLS! WE WILL HAVE MORE THAN JUST THIS TOWN UNDER OUR GRIP NOW! BUT... SOME SACRIFICES WILL HAVE TO BE MADE.

Yeah, I think I know what you mean. Tell some of the pollen lings to slam down into the ground as hard as they can, while the others release everything they've got! We've got them this time!

At the Survivors command, 6 of your pollenlings immediately fall out of the sky, right on top of the gathered agents! They crush a few of them under the force and their weight, while their bodies split asunder, spraying huge clouds of pollen everywhere! All the gathered agents immediately begin hacking and coughing, while a few start running, firing wildly in any direction! The 4 pollenlings in the sky then release everything they can, and soon a fine blanket of pollen swept up by the high winds, blows over the entire town, covering almost every building in the stuff! Those agents that ran soon fall over coughing, finding no respite from their pollen. Those that were closest to the blast begin shaking and convulsing, the sheer amount of your cells quickly taking over their own, changing their bodies and rewriting their minds!

After ten minutes, every single agent who came to investigate is infected, some of them changed from their restrictive human shells and into a creature that is more whirling clawed tendrils and gnashing teeth than man. And they are all under your control. And the townsfolk! Some came outside to investigate the sounds, and they too are quickly infected. Those who remained indoors will also get no quarter, as the pollen infused filters into every building regardless! And from the twitching bodies of the fallen agents, you can just make out "Cobra-1? What's the situation? Report Cobra-1!"

HAHAHAAHHAAHA WHAT A SIGHT TO BEHOLD!

That was... Beautiful.

With all these infected, I sense five hundred, no seven hundred, no... 1500 infected souls, all under our control! Our family has grown beyond anything we could have thought possible! What a stroke of genius!

Not genius. Just simply taking advantage of the situation presented to us.
>>
That was... Amazing. Already you can feel each and every mind within the town reaching out to you. 1500 souls... All yours. You have about 4 dozen armed and armored Spiral agents at your command, not to mention everyone else in the town and their equipment. Honestly, your a little overwhelmed at the sheer volume of minds reaching out to you. But... It doesn't drown out the call. From your tortured brethren, far to the west. If anything, it feels even stronger than it did before. You will have to move soon, but first, what do you do with your new army?

>Change each and every one into combat forms. WE WON'T BE ABLE TO HIDE 1500 THINGS NO MATTER HOW WE TRY. WE MAY AS WELL BE READY FOR BATTLE WHEN IT COMES!

>Gather as many supplies, weapons and vehicles as you can, get your new army ready to move, and fast. They're gonna hit us hard after this, best to be out of this town as soon as possible.

Bastion was able to pull off some serious Technomancer fuckery with that phone he had when he was surrounded by all those soldiers and had to kill him. I vaguely recall him suffering a headache from the attempt? If he got himself a more high end phone attached to his hip with one of those medical wires attached to him to the phone, could Bastion use his Geass on the phone for more wireless hack attempts? What if he made smart computer glasses connected to his phone too?
If the theoreticall glasses computer idea works, and Bastion puts a high end camera to a gun, could he use his Geass to auto-aim?

This isn't actually a good thing. We outed ourselves when they could've walked past if we sent one of our children as a decoy in a random direction."

That's about all I can parse from the schizo stroke.
>>
>>5207346
yep. no point in wasting thralls of a whole town and throw away the cover, they could just bomb or burn down the town if desperate enough, we should perhaps think of throwing up a decoy and have it run into some direction acting perhaps as a scout and distraction while we should exist behind the search line as they rush forwards desperately trying to find us and or contain our children as they do not have infinite man power
>>5206540
we should figure out what they know, we cant stay and fight would only just destroying our cover as then they could just bomb/burn down the town. we should make several children specifically to act as decoys while also extending our control making a bigger mess further away while we hunker down and act like normal humans, could throw one out into the forest and do as the eggheads would think we would do a "trail of destruction and barren fields would lead us to it in a matter of days" would be interesting to see if our children can self replicate

lets try this still, make some psychic network extenders so we can remote control them, send them then out into the forests, rivers and towards other population centers.

>PROBE THE MINDS OF THE SPIRAL AGENTS... SUCCESS

Wandering through the town, it finally sinks in that everything within it is yours. As you approach the twitching Spiral agents, you can hear a voice coming through the device on one of their chests. All it takes is a thought for the agent to grab the device and say "S-sorry Command, the targets have been neutralized." and comes the reply "Copy that Cobra-1, clean up whatevers left over and report back to base for a debrief." With that situation taken care of for now, you lay down next to the agents, secure in the knowledge that they are totally unable to harm you. Quickly issuing a psychic command to everyone within the town to gather up everything of value and to prepare to move.

Centering yourself, you feel your mind leave your body as you enter the mind of another. Inside, you find it's mind to be neatly organized, consisting of what appears to be a giant military base with rows upon rows of tents stretching off into the distance. Entering one of the tents, you see a large wooden table covered in maps and documents. One of the documents has a picture of you, another of Sophia, and another of something that resembles you very closely. Except it has more teeth, more claws, and more densely packed muscle. Leafing through the other Thing's files, you learn that it is known as Subject 147-B, with the nickname "The Starving"...

Yes, this has to be the one who has been calling to you all this time. As you read through it's file, you learn that it is being kept in some place called Nevada, deep within the desert. Unfortunately, most of the specifics of the creature and it's whereabouts are crossed out, and so you give up trying to learn more about your brother and decide to look into the Spiral itself. Luckily, this agents knowledge of his organization is extensive, and you learn that Spiral agents are embedded in every major city within the state, and also that they are growing more desperate in their hunt for you. You also learn the name of their leader, a Thing known as "The High Tower". Details on it are scarce however, and you learn very little about it other than the fact that it is quite old, and apparently has the ear of every major world leader. Interesting...

............................................................................
>>
You finally finish probing the mind of the last Spiral agent, and are pleased with what you've discovered: You know the location of every Spiral base within the state, and a few in the states bordering it, as well as the identity and appearance of many of the agents in Tennessee. This will make avoiding them much easier, or as the Warrior proposes, easier to find and stamp out with the help of your new army.

>If your math is correct, there should be enough vehicles for almost every infected in the town to travel in, so you will begin journeying to this "Arizona", avoiding Spiral agents and bases along the way. It won't be easy to keep a low profile, but perhaps if we split our army up we would be able to go unnoticed...

>Gather your army and set out for the nearest Spiral base! THEY WILL NOT EXPECT IT, AND TAKING OVER ONE OF THEIR COMPOUNDS WILL ONLY BOLSTER OUR OWN ALLIES!

>Go to the nearest major city and begin taking it over. While 1500 souls is nothing to laugh at, if we truly want to win this war we must add to our numbers.

Our biggest advantage right now is that they think us dead and we know where spiral bases and agents are, taking one of their base would probably make us unable to lay low and taking over a whole city means that we would have to deal with the military, go public and Spiral will see us coming.
I think that a surprise attack would be the best option.
>>
>>5210763

why would we not just go along with them thinking we are dead what use do we have of having these ordinary people charge into arizona? it would be really fucking noticeable we cant even really take care of our doctors and scientists not even really feed them how would we take care off about 1520 or so souls
also taking over spiralbase pretty hecking noticeable.
i think all the options are well not good
>>
>>5210763
lets not uproot the town for no reason perhaps we should lay down a relay system of our children to extend our psychic reach and use this town as a infection vector.
and if we wanted to to journey further camping trip style we could sorta basically steal a car, mooch gas and food from the towns people and journey further inconspicuously instead of huge caravans that would be very noticeable.
what would happen if they leave our range?

Wait, what state are we in? AZ is close to both water (and aquatic lifeforms) and Mexico (easy mode compared to US) but not quite there yet; if we're closer to either of those things where we are I'd rather just commune with this entire town, evolve into something faster and go biomass hunting for a week.

The pollen bomber army:
Modify the civilian humans to produce large amounts of pollen. We are pretty smart, and we could give them pollen sacks in their bodies that are not change their frame (still looks human). Spread them out in every town in every direction.
Change some agents(and civs) to... Well suicide bombers. Pack them full of pollen sacks, make them go to spiral locations (1-2 agents, and a few civs) and detone them. The key is to do it at the same time in several sites.
The pollen infecting other agents and we can overtake several sites.
>>
>>5211184
Finally some new ideas also i have been thinking can we literally just birth the human suicide bombers, i am not keen on wasting legal identities i prefer subtly like the alternate ending of the thing where humanity was assimilated without anyone noticing things acting as the humans without knowing until they are revealed
>>
>>5211130
atleast your suggestion holds up with character motivation, of assimilation as we dont want anyone to die and thus losing there "soul" forever never knowing anything but loneliness.

dont know if mexico would be easy mode because then spiral could just do what ever they want without much less subtly but getting out into the sea is a good time.

>>5210763
what did the infected towns people see and how would they react if not infected and they saw us in full thing form battling the troopers in the streets. would they flee the town? would they try and contact there relatives and others places but there phone lines are likely cut?
the thing is i think is if we are going to leave the town in a huge group as everyone seems to want we should make it look realistic atleast.

>>5211184
hmmm we got the genes for animals, perhaps we could make like cats that generate the Pollen as a infection vector, as a smaller more compact agile suicide bomb, has a bit more room for alteration and error as humans are much worse at telling apart animals and if something is strange with them, the fur also helps if fluffy to cover any strangeness.

You are currently within Sneedville, Tennessee.

>These options are all bad
That is what write ins are for, if you don't like any of the options I give you then you are free to write in your own.
>>5211225
>how would they react if not infected
Due to how critical your critical roll was everyone within the town is infected to the point of complete control.
>>
>>5211232
Dunno how accurate google maps is or how driving on US highways works due to being a Eurofag but it shouldn't take that long to travel south to the Gulf of Mexico and start eating some whales if we consume enough of this town to trigger an evolution or two and grab some better aquatic features. Which shall henceforth be my vote.

I get that Arizona is a plot hook but even if we reach Rapebro we might not be mentally strong enough to not be subsumed even after fighting our way to get a proper communion in. Better go the sunken god route where by the time they find us we'll be too poweful to stop and can just consolidate until we're down to a size where we can just surface at a beach wherever and they'll have no idea we're not just the dumb surfer we ate.
>>
Tennesse has some realy big cave systems.
If we evolve towards that we could use them to hide.
We enter one, create a false bottom and use our tendrils to dig towards the surface, imitating trees and replacing them from below.

It would be slow, so maybe use humans to bring food to the cave and grow more quickly.
>>
>>5211232
I meant how would they react so we could have them act realistically without being odd and unatural for the running away stuff
>>
>>5211270
Well also everyone jumped on the bandwagon mostly without talking
>>
>>5211266
Good idea still sorta prefer cities beacuse if spiral cares about secrecy they cant do what ever they want
>>
>>5211306
Also holy fuck thats alot of caves
>>
>>5211263
Yeah good point about arizona we are mentally really fucking weak and thats like charging into the boss room before leveling up after fighting our first rat
>>
>>5211263
hmmm if we are in Tennessee i guess we could head towards carolina towards the sea or towards the mexican gulf and ride the current around the world if we move towards Alabama/Florida/Mississippi
>>
>>
>>5210763
I agree that these options are bad.
But the least bad option is

>Maths correct, split up the army

And lets get our Starving bro out of sollitary. Make groups of 5 per car, 4 cars per group and get them to head out. Leave a few behind.
>>
>>5211590
i dont know if its smart due to well guns are very effective with baseline humans
>>
>>5211590
But yeah full loading the cars they are going to need extensive modifications how for combat effectivity.
Whats your opinions on assimilating everyone then giving birth too them for the evolution points and keeping there "souls" safe so they are not forever lost?
>>
>>5211665
I think you need to be prescribed some adderall my friend.
>>
>>5211667
And i am desperetly trying too spur conversation but smoothering it, also would not letting them die the true death be against our characters goal would also allow us too mapping the human genome and disguises while we modify them completely and get PHAT LOADS OF POINTS
>>
>>5211627
They can transform into a combat/Thing form, it's probably smarter to do it once when we are near the base where our cousin is.
>>
>>5211673
Buddy no offense but you can't really force conversation in a quest. Most of the people here put in their vote, maybe chat a bit, and wait for the update.

Calm down a little bit.
>>
>>5211689
still worry a bit about our cousin or missing bit due to well.... that mental signal was really powerful and painful and seems like they would tear us apart without even assimilating us spending it all on energy like a 50s woman on crack cocaine tweaking out as a weightloss pill prescribed by doctors.

also here have a roach thing i drew for another quest could perhaps ad some orange or yellow puffs and some mutated spots or something for like a pollen generating roach.
i did not draw the flying part a pal did that

seems dead as shit

>>5214608
Yeah, I apologize to everyone for that, but I can't keep making you guys wait multiple days for an update wondering whether or not it's dead. SCQ is going on hold for a while until my life normalizes to the point that I can update consistently. Thanks to everyone who participated and drew art and had great discussions in the threads, I'll see you all soon, hopefully.
