LAND HO!!! SWORN TO VALOUR AND BLACK COMPANY 2230AD WILL RETURN!!

After years spent in this meth riddled mining town purgatory, finally my return to civilisation along with what I hope is an office that is actually staffed and manageable work hours is imminent. Soon, I shall leave this godforsaken land behind...

Okay, so the beaches are pretty good up north here but no lie someone got eaten by a crocodile in the river not 500m from where I sleep and a kid was killed by a box jellyfish 1 week after I went swimming at the same beach. After that getting hit by a car thing it feels like the QM curse is catching up...

But more importantly this means I will soon be able to resume the longstanding quests (archive here in case any newbies are wondering what the fuck is going on)
https://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Forgotten%20QM

No solid date yet, but I hope I could be starting up the quests again as soon as May this year! In the meantime, just to give myself amped up and anons interested, I'm going to keep this thread going and throw a few votes in here, mainly background stuff like ship names or cosmetic aspects of supporting characters etc. Besides, Almighty knows those two blokes in the /qtg/ need somewhere semi-official to chat!
>>
I've got to head to bed now, work is still crazy. But I'll check in with you guys again when I can after work tomorrow.

Aussie, joined thread 1 of StV and immediately started reading the Black Company archive in between

>Sworn to Valour Question

I mean Emile is the easy answer, the golden boy, the stupid, loveable idiot who is either going to be sainted (gimme another crit success in our next church trial) or hung from the rafters of a disused farmhouse, or more likely corrupted by a SoS

But other good options are our buddy Rabe, love the guy, and our little squire. One day I want to buy him some kick ass heavy armour and finish teaching him how to kill a motherfucker like a badass and spill his sketti like a wannabe casanova

>Who is your favourite character/squaddie?
Crane is a good egg but you can't beat Nines and our little cripple girl. The plant is ok too I guess... for a xeno

Anyway hype as fuck, don't get QMcursed in the meantime
>>
Another question to propose if I may?

>What initially got you hooked?

For me it was that you actually followed through on this being a quest with consequences for our actions in the first thread. I won't spoil it for any new anons just seeing this but the fact that we fucked around and found out was great

Sworn to Valour Question
>Who is your favourite character/companion?
Emile without a doubt, he started as a little bit naive and inexperienced but has stepped up to every challenge put on his way and still live up to his ideals despite the horrors, from the more mundane to the supernatural. He is a genuinely good person and his journey has only made him improve himself beyond the martial and material gains he has aquire.

>>
>>5213623
>What made you decide to stick around?
Gabriels death made me stick around most in the early threads, then it was the Grit of the STV setting contrasted with being SWORN TO VALOR

probably DEEPEST LORE but thats an easy answer, without including the juicy spoiler lore I probably want to know about the Big history characters that made Canton what it is after the brothers left.

Have you thought much about changing up setting stuff like the Wealth system or investments given we could likely get Ambitous as a copperclipper?

Proud balkan dipshit from Croatia. Joined up somewhere on the start of StV, got lost along the way and then rejoined in the first BCQ 2230AD thread. Since then, I've read the StV threads till the end and now I'm moist and ready to continue, be it in the form of shooting xenos or gutting copper-clippers.

>Who is your favourite character/companion? StV
Love Rabe, simple as. Also have a soft spot for that stupid brother of ours who has a drive to get himself killed in all possible situations. I think he gave me a heart attack 2 times already.

>Who is your favourite character/squaddie? BCQ 2230AD
So many loveable murderous goofballs. Crane is on the top, of course. Love his deadpan humour and constantly disapproving aura towards Nat's bullshit. Also love the femme fatale, Double N and her quadrilingual banter, especially with Husk.

>>5213623
>What made you decide to stick around?
Good characters, a fun rolling system with risks and strategising and of course, the beautiful banter and memes.

>What's an area of lore you want to know more about?
For StV, can't wait to see more of Cathagi society and culture and the way Cathagis will socalize with a pure KNIGHT OF CANTON. Or just generally, how different cultures look like. And of course, the deep forbidden lore of the SoS, but that will come with due time.

For BCQ 2230AD, I want to know more about those genocidal races who are supposedly extinct and I want a glimpse into the Holy Chokrum Empire.

Sworn to Valour Question
>Who is your favourite character/companion?

favorite bro has to be Rabe, Vancewell memes are off the charts though.
>>
>>5212385
>What's your nationality? When did you join up?
I'm a canuck, I didn't start voting until the start of the Dis campaign in BC 2230 (I think, my memory may be failing me, it may have been earlier) but I did read the very first original BC thread live as it happened but simply lurked, same with StV. BC 2230 is the only quest I'm completely caught up on, I've read parts of the original BC quest and StV but never completed the archives.

>Fave characters

For StV I cannot say as I haven't completed it, but I'd probably say either the current MC or the first MC. The first MC because my memory of that start has warped to essentially consist entirely of the MC being hilariously haughty and memetically brave in death, the current MC for his development.

For BC 2230 I'd probably say either Crane or Boot, great characters either way.

Sorry for the radio silence guys, working weekends still but hopefully things will finally settle down when I move.

>>5213668
>Wealth system
Certainly I want to incorporate larger investments, like ongoing interests in merchant caravans and such but also if Emile does wind up with a piece of land that will open up a whole new system of improvements to the fief etc. I can already envision building up farmland for more serfs to work, reclaiming unused or hostile areas or churches for pilgrims and defence infrastructure. I know ASOIAF had a good system for that so I will revisit it when it becomes relevant. I know some anons have been pushing for a hard currency system, I'm not ruling it out but I want to give it a closer look before overhauling the whole system. I don't want to end up in situation where people become ridiculously rich by selling dozens of poor quality weapons or rigging the wealth system beyond what is reasonably exploitable in a sensible commercial system. Can't promise the change is coming, can promise I'm looking at it.

>>5213662
>>5216192
>Undead / Ardenne
We have covered a bit of it already, mainly lore stuff that any good son of Romaine would know like the Night of Three Sisters or how the Duchess Romaine became the last major holdout of the old families and the impact of the more matriarchal system than other Duchies. Some anons may have noticed already, while the prevalence of undead and their dread lords is always a threat along the territories closest to the Isle of the Damned their actual sphere of influence and threat waxes and wanes over the seasons with winter being notably the harshest time with many towns and hamlets walling themselves up and riding it out for the return of Spring.

As for any connection, I won't spoil anyone but there will be clues.

>>5213671
>beastmen secret place
I purposefully hinted at this, but I very much doubt Emile would have gotten better results than Sir Gilbern at putting the beastmen to the question. If anons had insisted on being present, they might have been able to prevent the informant being killed by his compatriots.

>>5213680
>Cathagi
Making landfall in this distant foreign realm is going to be a cultural shock for our knight and no mistake. Anons may have already picked up the existence of several castes vying for influence in the old empire but the true nature of the struggle other than the Merchants and Medusae Sect will likely be beyond Emiles understanding at this point.

>genocidal races
'Supposedly extinct' being a big question mark here. Certainly as far as the three major powers are concerned (Empire, Mandate and Federation) these guys are no longer feared as an issue. And even the HCE isn't an -active- threat right now compared to Rot outbreaks etc.

>>5215794

============================

>PLAYER INPUT - SHIP NAMES

So I think it has been established that the human, or perhaps merely Black Company, tradition of naming spacefaring vessels follows the formula of [noun] of [place], typically that place being a city or region of Fallen Earth.

Examples
>Prince of Megiddo - Battleship
>Wolf of Rome - Frigate
>Sword of Damascus - Frigate

These are the only ships of the Black Fleet named thus far but there are dozens of other vessels that answer to the Captain, usually split off into several smaller fleets operating on separate contracts. There currently 2-3 cruiser class vessels in operation, each with their own complement of destroyers, frigates and smaller support vessels. Most of these are of human make, either Company manufactured or claimed from Republic of Earth remnants. But anywhere between 1/4 to 1/3 of these vessels have been seized from alien owners, either salvaged from wrecks or commandeered after hostile action.

Right now I'll just take anons input on the kind of names that may be present in the fleet, but next update we'll have a little vote to pass the time (with the most popular selections being the cruiser names). I'll even take write-in for any history in the ship's service, their commanders and notable engagements etc. I reserve the right to veto anything too crazy, but feel free to ask if you worry you're going overboard.

>SHIP NAME IDEAS
> [write in]
>>
>>5218897
The Blooming Thorn

A medical cruiser made by the Cabbages (I honestly can't remember the races name right now). Its exterior is all sharp, angular surfaces in various hues of brown with a blunted, square shaped stern and a pointed, triangular bow.

After capturing the ship and translating the name, it was unclear if the "Blooming" part of the name referred to the technicolour kaleidoscope style panels on the inside or the vibrant blue and electric green hues of the ships drives.

--
The Emu of Sydney - Fast Attack Cruiser

The Emu of Sydney is small for a cruiser, lightweight for her class, quick and agile and heavily armed but with less armour than your typical cruiser class vessel. She sports several scars along her hull from various battles in service with the Black Company and in the years leading up to her acquisition by the fleet, each worn with pride.

>Ok I memed that a bit I admit

--

Blade of Asculum

The Blade of Asculum is rooted in history, its servicemen proud of even their defeats in battle and the price they extract from each and every enemy that dare face them. They are taught that there is no mercy to be had in warfare, that any enemy who faces them should be left bloody and broken and that should they be unable to win, they should leave their opponent reeling from the Pyrrhic victory.

>The Duke of Sarajevo
A pilfered Savis frigate which once belonged to a Savis Duke whose untimely end came at the hands of the Black Company in a black-ops operation. Considering his title and death of the little fox, the freshly-minted commander of the vessel immortalised him and another unfortunate (human) duke in the name of the ship.

>The Song of Jerusalem
A Republic of Earth cruiser said to have spent its last days in the city of Jerusalem. Many of those who were saved that day came from the city, carrying with them many religious relics, trinkets and beliefs. The cruiser became something of a "pilgrimage" place to many of the Old World religious, fresh faced warriors from New Antioch vying to get a place on it. While High Command is vary of having so many Antiochans of different creeds in one place, they cannot deny the effect of united fervour in the battle against Aliens.

>The Gypsy of Andalusia
A support vessel which originally spent its time in a Voidborn fleet, the ship joined up with the Black Company after an unfortunate encounter with a Voidstorm, the ship being the only survivor of the tragedy. While many of the original denizens dispersed, the ship somewhat maintaned its Voidborn culture. Mostly known for its technical and repair support, the plucky little vessel dived into scrap and technology collection due to their VIP position after any Black Company space engagement. Whatever you dear heart desires, the Gypsy will provide, as the saying goes among BC tinkerers.

>Blood of Wallachia
A Black Company cruiser thought to have been lost after the support promised in the contract never arrived. The ship was barley functional crew was reduced to less then a third. While the official report has remained sealed, rumor is that the Blood of Wallachia bleed an entire Savis strike group on a series of guerilla attacks throughout the Danube system leaving nothing but floating hulks.

But nice description on the ships. The naming format of the Blooming Thorn is unorthodox for ship names. But we could agree that’s due to the xeno origin or the official name didn’t stick.

>>5219048
Wow this guy gets it. I especially like the idea of the Company having a ship crewed by a primarily Antiochan crew with concerns on divided loyalty.

Actually, I like all of these ships backgrounds.

>>5219097
Someone has watched Castlevania recently, but the idea of bleeding a bigger fleet dry is pretty cool for the name. Is the ship human or commandeered Savis make?

>>5219144

>What's your nationality? When did you join up?
American. I joined up late BCQ and have been on board ever since with you.

Honestly I like so many of them. Emile and Rabe are probably my two favorites.

Black Company 2230AD
>Who is your favourite character/squaddie?
Big fan of our Second and the Bitch.

Honestly I think your storytelling, worldbuilding, character creation, and mechanics are just the best out of anyone on /tg/ and /qst/ It's just pure fun man.

>What's an area of lore you want to know more about?
I'm mainly curious about the "true" history of our faith, as we saw with the sins[/spoiler] and the "blasphemy"

>What's your nationality? When did you join up?
Burger. I started when we joined the first party after almost dying anticlimactically.
>Who is your favorite character/companion?
Either our best bud from the Northern mountains or our squire. A very close second is our trusty steed. If(when) he dies, we will mourn for days and only settle on the greatest breeds(either that super one that I forgets its name or the pegasus).
>Who is your favorite character/squaddie?
Crane. I like his dynamic with Snake-Eyes and the other squaddies could use some one shots bigger than some of the ones given(Nines gets more than when we go clubbing and the beach for example). Honestly, I didn't want Crane, I wanted the Earth vet because I have a fondness for romanticizing over Mankind's past glories, but now the squad wouldn't feel right without him.
>What made you decide to stick around?
Length(and girth). Im a picky bastard who usually gorges myself on quests in the archive that were long enough to satisfy the hole in my heart and with an OC setting.Yours fit the bill with one quest done and another started.
>What's an area of lore you want to know more about?
Its been a while since I read thru the whole quest, but for StV, I could settle on folk heroes aside from Adam and Caine. Examples like companions of the brothers, heroes fighting in Interim periods between periods of stability, Robin Hood figures, or even a king who ruled for over half a century and did nothing during his peaceful and stable rule(and was loved for it).
>Ship names
>Wife of Samsara's End
A newly promoted member of the company from The Manger at New Antioch was given command of a ship that had been reassigned to him after its former commanding officer's mismanagement had led to its near scraping. After hearing that the former officer was from a Samsara's End on New Antioch and would have long ago slaughtered each other if it were not for the laws of the land and who he had personally come to blows with before, he proceeded to spend every excess bit of earning on each mission to repair it and the resulting damage it suffered from skirmishes with other ships, which it only managed to break even on due to his magnificent maneuvering. After Decades of piloting and countless missions of cre4dits from both him and his crew, who had begun to love the ship, it was to an inexperienced eye...a patchwork hunk of junk and it was a miracle it hadn't exploded by now. But to anyone who new the merit of ships of any quality, they knew that if the ship could exist in that state, in a mercenary company and not get scrapped, it must have a quality all of its own. One day the Captain was asked how it got its name
"If that bald fuck couldn't treat this fine woman right, then I will".

>Rose of LV-426
A beat up transport freighter that was falling apart BEFORE the fall of Earth that is somehow still functioning at BC standards despite it being probably the oldest ship in the fleet.

The Captain is a Hard drinking cigar chomping ex-miner who lost his wife to Savis slavers.

>Last light of Sol
one of the escort cruisers produced by Earth's shipyards, it got acquired around the same time as the Megiddo and while nowhere near the Jewel of the fleet it arguably one of the most advanced featuring the creme da la creme of human technology.

Rumour has it that its line of ships feature A.I enslaved systems though naturally both the goverment of Earth and later the Black company both flatly deny the use of A.I by such frigates even if the rumour is persistant thanks to the heavily restricted zones on the vessel.

An unusual ship thought to be a prototype out of Perspira, the Huntress gets its name from the exaggerated number of troops reported in the battle of Ankara in the year 1402 of ancient Earth and its unusual prototype weapon.

When the drones aren't enough, the ship can launch several breaching craft loaded with the roughest kriegers in the sector to board and assault the enemy, capturing them in the confusion of battle.

Aight Forgotten, I got moar questions:

First, how are you such a wordsmith? I've been writing on-and-off for fun for years and the only thing I have for myself is that I have above-average spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and decent lore. But you-- you're damn good at what you do, and, reading through the first thread of STV... welp, I am now enlightened as to *why* your quests have so much hype behind them.

Two, how do you make *good* consequences for bad decisions? For instance, when the stakes become higher and higher in a quest story arc, how can I make bad choices or rolls more impactful? I don't run that dark of a quest, but I would like to make future moments in my own quest actually have impact for my players.

>The Flower of Agincourt
The only surviving ship from a coalition fleet of Savis princes. The rest of the fleet was destroyed when it foolishly tried to charge into the broadside of a much smaller black company fleet but got bogged down in voidstorm/electrical nebula?(whichever works in lore) loosing thrust and shields allowing the company ships to rain fire down upon them for hours. In the end only the Flower remained intact despite the pointlessness of it they refused to surrender, and the crew fought to the last man in a valiant last stand in the name of their house.

Hey lads, held back at work but I’ll check in with you all tomorrow and put some of these proposals to a vote.

>>5220191
Honestly, you have to both write AND read content you like. When you start identify a few -authors- that really capture you (easy to like genres, but the quality can vary) then you start to incorporate a few of their methods into your own writing, crudely at first but eventually more subtle and altered to reflect your own touches and take on it. That can be something as hard to define as techniques in developing characters or a simple as literary tricks and styles.

For example, one author I read I noticed in the odd chapter or so would use a sentence at the start of the chapter and then as events unfolded that sentence was also at the end of the chapter, either changed or ironically inverted.

I.e “It was the anniversary of Harolds nameday, and a particularly important one. [entire chapter of important stuff audience forgets sentence where Harold ends up dead or not looking good, chapter finishes with:] It was the anniversary of Harold’s namesday and a particularly important one, for it would be his last.

Now that doesn’t mean I started throwing that sort of thing in there, but I did decide to give it a try with an update or two and see how it meshed with my writing. This example I’ve found is one that can very easily be overused, but if reserved for special moments can really hit the reader in the right spot.

Along the west coast, prevalent but that's much to be expected given the amount of trade going on in that area between Langland, Canton, Cathagi and Norsikaa. All four nations have an interest in preserving trade but are also all guilty of contributing pirates and privateers in the region. Many captains, even those not looking to make a name as a pirate, can be opportunistic. They will invariably protect and come to the aid of their own vessels, but if a foreign ships is vulnerable and weak enough it's... well not exactly fair game but you don't have to be a career pirate to consider taking advantage of the situation. So there are few -dedicated- pirates, with most places having a berth of safety in their own waters and being a potential threat to others.

>>5225523
That is a miserable storm-swept isle that is home to a hamlet mainly consisting of crabbers. It's crowning achievement is a functional lighthouse that is the only reason the reigning family pays any heed to it. The Duke Pascae demands that the network of lighthouses along the more perilous areas of the Pascae coast be kept working. Oddly enough, the lighthouse keeper on this small island is a position with more importance and status than the hamlet headsman.

Along the southern coast of Canton, you are less likely to find traders and more likely to find pirates. Either those picking of merchantmen slipping into the capital Aubrey but as we move along the southern coast of Romaine the pirates there are more interested in flesh than goods. There is much less traffic given the proximity of the Isle of Dead other than local ships and fishermen, sighting a foreign ship there is rarely a good thing.

>>5226044
The equivalent of this would be the War of Borders, which occurred in your grandfather rule of House Andrei and concluded in the your father's youth. It wasn't outright civil war as was the case during the Sengoku Jidai, but in addition to numerous Duchy conflicts there were significant foreign incursions in Pascae (A quasi-hostile takover of Port Bounty by Langlish 'mercanaries'), Romaine (Cathagi invaders that went beyond brief occupations and slaving to claiming the entirety of the southern coast) and even Fallavon (a large Norsikaan raid that laid siege to Motte-Fallavon itself).

So in answer to your question, what we're looking at now probably isn't the surplus of knights following that war and reparceling of land itself but more like the next generation of those knights.

Exactly, without an actual war to fight the next generation of young nobility are trying to prove themselves in various ways Like going to Fallavon

I won't guarantee that all ships will get a showing, but I'd like to get a feel from anons what is the most popular. I'm inclined to let the fluff proposed for each ship lie in the background, but the most popular 2 or 3 will be potential cruisers in large Black Company taskforces.

Feel free to offer more ship names an ideas. I've got a lot on now to say the least, but I'll try and pop in to answer any questions anons have.

Nothing is known of the west for no ship that sails to where Black Sails roam is ever seen again, but far west is one of the many theorised places that Cain led his last crusade.

Of the east only the barbarous Slithering Wastelands and Deepwood are even tentatively mapped.

Of the south, far far south beyond Cathagi and the Tempest Isles there are reports of other civilisations but nothing concrete. Mercenaries from such places are not unheard in the armies of the Dragon.

>Cathagi vs Romaine
Existentially? Nothing compared to the undead. The incidents of slaver attacks are limited to the south coast, and only those portions distant enough from fallen Ardenne. It’s enough to guarantee unfriendly diplomatic terms and xenophobia in the populace there, but this has mellowed significantly compared to the War of Borders failed landgrab. Which again was only precipitated due to a particularly harsh set of losses against the undead where Romaine found itself weakened and redirected its little strength to shoring up the fortresses to the east. It’s gone from being Cathagi would get you lynched in your grandfathers day to more along the lines of ‘those slaver guys? Ew, big no’.

As for Emile, his family lands are more central north and east of the Duchy, so the undead have always been the prominent issue. There’s never been a threat of direct attack from that angle, but they’d still share the outrage when isolated incidents come down the grapevine. Like word of a remote monastery being raided etc.

TL;DR Romaine hates Cathagi more than the other Duchies, but for most including the Andrei’s the undead have always been the existiential threat.

Forgot to answer the other question.

>What places keep sightings of Cain’s crusade?
Port Bounty was the point where they set off from, so I’m not sure what you mean. Every village and hamlet along the Pascae coast both north and south claims to have been where the fleet was last sighted but in that era some 800s years ago is when historical fact, religious canon and legend are hard to distinguish.

The more scholarly members of the Order of the Trident, while primarily founded to protect Cantonian trade on the seas, might be able to more accurately distinguish this specific area of ancient history.

>>5226205
>Cathagi invaders that went beyond brief occupations and slaving to claiming the entirety of the southern coast

What was the Cathagi reaction to the dead walking and wanting to kill them?
>>
>>5227392
Initial horror during the cataclysm of the Three Sisters. In the centuries since the average Cathagi caste member would view those stories with the same vague disbelief as they would about reports of beastmen from the barbarous northern lands. I won’t go into it anymore than that, because the situation currently can be more complicated but that’s the worldview of the average Cathagi.
>>
>>5228018
Are there any Cantonese stories from history that could be ended with "and they all lived happily ever after" in regards to to at least the primary figure, such as a crusade where its legendary hero actually gets a long and eventually happy life or a king who ruled over a period of peace and prosperity? Hey lads and ladettes, I will endeavour to respond to some of the questions raised above when I can.

I’ve finally got some certainty about the timing of my relocation to civilisation, where the streets are lined with gold and the per capita of Methhead tweaker vs ordinary citizen sits well below 50%.

I will be shipping out end of May, which will hopefully mean a locked in date sometime in June for us to pick up from where we left off.

I rolled one of the 13's that almost killed Emile's brother. It makes hesitate to roll dice sometimes.

Sure would have been different if our Bro had died on our watch.

You will protect Daubeny's smile.
I am not simply asking you to do so, what I am saying is that I have taken the considerable time we had since last thread to identify and track down every last of the quest's players, and find out their worst blackmail to use against them.
>b-but my IDs kept changing
Does not matter. I tracked you according to your behavior.
>I only posted votes alone!
Like that is going to stop me. I calculated the timing and direction of your votes to profile you long ago.
>B--BBUT I AM JUST A LURKER!
You think your FBI agent doesn't track the quests you read? I have access to thos files.
So David, should I tell everyone what you were doing on 23 february? Abdul, wouldn't it be a shame if I leaked what files you keep on your computer?
>you dont need to do this you could just samefag the quest!
This is too cheap, Daubeny deserves more, she deserves your love and your votes.
>You will save Daubenys happyness
>you WILL make her happy
>YOU. WILL. PROTECT. HER. SMILE.
>>
>>5256993
I was all for rescuing Daubeny's smile until the natural charm crit on Vancewell. I am sorry anon, but when the Dice Gods decree reaches us mortals we can do naught but obey. It must be done.
>>
>>5256993
I just don't want to cuck the dead man anon
>>
>>5256993
look I was on Daubney since day 1 of Fallavon but with Vancewell in the picture I can settle for platonic protection.

Besides if emille dies their is always the Copperclipper with a heart of gold
>>
>>5233303
I picked the audiobook after seeing this post and I am unsure how to feel about it after finishing the first book.
>>
>>5257152
I'm still for Daubeny. I can accept that we will pursue Vancewell in addition to her, but it will almost certainly end with either Vancewell dead by our hand, a friends hand or one of her "friends", or her being exiled. Besides, the crit success can be interpreted as us romancing her, not marrying her. Many famous romances don't end well I'm just interested in seeing how we get to that point, especially how long it takes for her to realize that we are actually a good man, since she thought we were just acting the last time we saw her.
>>
>>5257778
I feel Vancewell is ambitious choice and Daubeny is the more safe choice. Marring into the Vancewell would mean ending the feud with Rave once our brother marries Karlaus's sister. And their position in southern Montbrun if I'm not mistaken could translated to a good standing for reclaiming the old Andrei lands in Romaine.
>>
>>5256993
I'm sorry, I boarded the Vancewell Express when we hit the crit.
>>
>>5257898
Anon here is correct in that the opportunity to consolidate power would be there for us, but I don't think emile would look at it through that lens. While I am more partial to vancewall after the crit, The will of the dice gods and all, but I wouldn't be crying if anons wanted to go with daubeny. Maybe I have a thing for star crossed romances, the good thing is we have two years to think about it
>>
>>5257778
Bro I can respect that you're on team Daubeny (She is wholesome as fuck) but frankly the level of cope in this post pretty sad
>>
>>5257778
Thats a very pessimistic take but I can't say you're completely wrong, certain choices like joining the Dragon guard will absolutely fuck up chances for a marriage with her, as for the rest well I thinks its a bit presumptuous.

>>5260061
>I don't think emile would look at it through that lens

I get the feeling Emille could be convinced to consolidate power for the good of the realm or people if not himself sort of like a Knigga Liu bei we even have the dubious BENEVOLENCE down pat
>>
>>5260061
>>5260300
Oh I agree, to me Emile always had an undercurrent of ambition. But not for power, but for the desire to accomplish something. I think it's his genuinely good nature and empathy for others that balance that into helping others even at his expense sometimes. Restoring the old Andrei lands would in his mind would be a net positive for everyone in his mind.
>>
>>5260583
"For the good of the realm" could be superceded by other moral imperatives, such as minimizing bloodshed. What if she wants the Rabes dealt with if they wish to consolidate power in Montbrun? Would we betray our best friend because this woman we are courting says it's for "the good of the realm",even though she has shown every indication that she and ger family come first in her mind? Unless we could make her more selfless, this will end either with her dead, her wanting us dead, or a series of difficult successful rolls/crits, though this will take many more interactions before it gets to that point.
>>
>>5260902
It seems she doesn't considering she wants to move against her father for being incompetent. plus once we come back and become blood brothers with karlaus that will be inadvisable at best
>>
>>5260902
also because I forgot to add this in my first post it's going to need more then "for the good of the relam" to convince emile, Gilbern can use it because he has the whole picture and gives emile some idea of what is playing in the shadows.
>>
>>5260917
Vancewell would still have all the power, as the law of inheritance means that the wife keeps all the titles she brings to the marriage. We would just have her ear. So we would have to either make her more selfless and altruistic(again, would require many successful roles or a few crit successes), or convince her that want we want(whatever that is) is more beneficial to her than any other action, but since we are politically incompetent in comparison to the big players like the Prince, that would also require some excellent rolls.
>>
>>5260947
Again though anon, Emile doesn't really care about holding the titles of Vancewall. He is much more driven by doing the morally right thing and bulldozing straight through the game of politics, example being the fight in the faction base where we did the right thing by killing the fuck yuge demon and beating feet. She doesn't hold power over us because she has nothing we really want besides finding out if there is a connection giggity between us.
>>
>>5260953
I wasn't saying that Emile wanted power and if I did or implied as much, u apologiE. I in fact trying to show that one reason anons have for pursuing her(power and influence) will not be gained by marrying her, or that it will not be worth the trouble.
>>
you fucking virgins
arguing over all this bullshit
>Emile doesn't really care about
who the fuck are you to say. Bitch
>>
>>5263066
I mean... we're the ones who formed him into who he is today anon, who are you?
>>
>>5263066
We're all voices in his head anon, especially all this discussion right now. Weird he calls the voices in his head virgins though
>>
>>5263066
Its based upon precedent. We have some progression on the Path of Thorns, such as us selling those mushrooms instead of giving them to the priests and nuns. This demonstrates we do have some desire for material gain. However, we have risked ourselves to right wrongs and the possible expense of our lives, so we hold some things either above the price of material gains, or at least to an extent beyond hitherto offered, implied or thought of.
Also, are you calling us virgins because we are actually considering the merits of two women beyond the hole between their legs? When their are no immediatly visible strings atached,we have slept with women(Tracker Jean, the Cathagi MILF and Vancewell), but as sex is a material gain(in the form of a service), if we were offered it again but with a certain price(sensitive information, swearing an oath or even killing someone) I doubt that we would take it. You can insult us for our views and decisions, but at least attack our choices in addition to our character.
>>
>>5263414
what the fuck is this a joke? Fuck you
>>
>>5265001
Fuck him yourself Coward!
