Summary because it’s been 2 months:
You are Anon, you got summoned into a fantasy world where the creatures in it are very sure you are a Demon.
This resulted in making a disguise for you, becouse this guys needed you alive so you could save them.
After escaping a bunker filled with “undead” and dodging the inquisition, you ended in a city (Dico).
Further investigation revealed you are a demon by their standards and humanity was mass summoned 450 years ago as an army.
It ended with The Great War and the death of the god of Law.
Soon you realize everyone in power is a form of asshole, be it the Emperor, Gods or the Dictators disguise as presidents.

Now you have enrolled into another expedition into the wasteland, aiming for the Demon capital, all in the name of… Profit? Answers? Not sure.
There is also a guy impersonating you (Metis) and trying to cause a war, and magic is a broken system similar to programing.
While traveling you enslaved a Spriggan, a soul eating monster disguise as a humanoid (named Flora)
You also had her son enslaved, but that’s a different event.
You also got a functioning truck with gas and all.
On foreshadowing, this is a archological expedition but there was an alarmingly large amount of explosives in one wagon.

When you arrived on the city the expedition was divided into 3 groups and with unnatural luck you managed to not find anything particularly dangerous except for a piece of GOD.
You thankfully convice the others to not poke it/blow it up.
And with the help of a broken automaton you basically called a chunk of the remnants of the chimera army, led by a manmade abomination called Coronel Cedalion.
He is 400 and so years old, surprisingly still loyal to the human confederacy.
You had a talk with him, he wants to imprison you for your protection since you are the last human.

(TLDR: You are playing as a McGuffin, most creatures want you dead)

>Argue that Rot eaters are not human 2
>Scold him 2 ( 1 to set explosives)
You were sitting in a corner of a decrepit room in a ruined building, hiding from the Chimeras you had called.
You had a talk with their leader, the thing in charge of the remnants of humanity, a creature that while smart would have no problem imprisoning you for life.

You tried to hold your breath as the abominable soldier walk past you.
You’re hiding place becoming less and less safe with each war machine that climbed up the stairs.
Even after casting invisibility it just took a bit of bad luck and you would be done for.
You wanted to leave there was still one thing left to do.
The illusion spell impersonating you had faded, the cat was out of the bag now.
But you maintained it just so you could speak through it without revealing your location.

“Coronel, you had 350 years to wallow in your self-pity. When are you thinking to start rebuilding?
Do you plan on taking potshots at the Empire till the end of time?” You began criticizing him
“I understand your frustration. You are angry with me for being a remainder of a glory you never meet.”
“I’m not angry, just disappointed you have made no progress.” You replied back

“There is no possible reconstruction. The clouds above us are artificial creations that block actual water from falling.
Yes, I know how to stop it and I have failed to do so.
And leaving is not an option, important infrastructure is in this city and attempts to relocate it have resulted in failure.
I’m metaphorically stuck here.”

[Roll 10 + 6; DC 15 ; Result: Success]
“Okay, accepting that, why do you try to save the rot eaters? They are monsters.”
“They are human!” he raised his voice, but did not show any emotion.
“They are cancerous creatures that emerged from humans. Their bodies and minds never were human.”
He keep quiet for a few seconds.
“I… even if I agreed, I can’t kill it. It’s too large.”
“Can you explain that last bit?”

[Game of distortion: Gorefield]

“We didn’t have cells for everyone, so I stored them in the stadium. They consumed each other until there was only one. It’s an amalgamation of all the humans.”
“Not human.” You corrected him
“I have to hope. Otherwise what do I have left? A vengeance that feels empty I guess.”
He keep quiet after that coment, trying not to think of the implications his actions had.

You can see Ghal through a crystal panel, motioning you to leave through the window as he did.
You have run out of time to ask questions.
You cannot delay this decision anymore.

What will you do?
>[Explosives *2] Leave some dynamite here and escape [100% chance to kill him]

There are many useful items we can take from this city so let’s do that before heading back, also we are not killing our guy, he does not deserve it.

>[Explosives *2] Leave some dynamite here and escape [100% chance to kill him]
It isn't about whether the Coronel deserves to die, but about the fact that if he lives, our friends might get ganked by his cyborg soldiers.

>Gorefield
Oh, hey, my add-in! Well, shit. Maybe we should do something about that, too... Luckily, we have more explosives.

Welcome back, QM. Love this quest!

Leave a note some place he will eventually find it, perhaps in the middle of a hallway or on the stairs. We'll leave for now, but one day we'll return to help. He just needs to sit tight and try not to cage us when we get back, because if he tries for it a second time we will be super miffed.

Welcome back by the way man. It's good to know you're not dead yet.

>>5318396
Not if he wants to risk accidentally killing us in the crossfire he won't. What we can do however is insist that everyone pack up and leave since the "demons" are planning an ambush.

I'm sure if we chuck enough dynamite at it, we'll get at least a nice stat boost. Would be nice to get our natural aberrance up a bit more.
>>
>>5319160
Ok, but I think the beast would notice some idiot chucking dynamite towards it. What should we do then?
>>
>>5319165
Well, we might be able to trick it with some magic all things considered unless its intelligent enough to figure out we are fucking with it via magic.
If not then maybe we could set up a fake wall via a shitty illusion as cover or go invisible and just throw dynamite at it until its low enough to finish it off with a firebolt.

Oh yea I have been waiting for this to return.

I have a strat. I forgot how much aberance Potato and his mom is worth, but I think they have at least more than 5 a person.
>cast Invisibility for 3 abberence on self
>vicious weapon for 4
>Illusion for 4 (big investment to debilitate the GORE FIELD with noise, sights, and sounds

>Mage Armor for 1
>go into the gore field, toss some dynamite, and spam vicious weapon until everything is dead. They cant hit what they cant see.
>>
>>5319421
or I guess attack the GORE FIELD with vicious weapon since it counts as 1 entity, so we can get off like. Rending Polearm (1d8 + 3 damage)×3 + 3 from monster killer + 21 from vicious weapon if we have enough abberance to pull off three hits.
>>

>Leave discreetly, continue exploring the city [auto success]
>Leave a note.

You briefly considered leaving the explosives next to the support columns of the building.
This place would collapse open and kill Cedalion.
It was a certainty that he would look for you, and it was possible that he would hurt people looking for you.
But you didn't think he dared to put you in danger or that he deserved it.

So you left.
You left a note in the middle of the hallway for them to find.
A generic message that you will come back and not follow you.
You tried not to sound too much like a letter from a father abandoning a son.
If the son had killed many people throughout his life, of course.

You moved to the window and Ghal helped you out without being seen.
You soon left the building behind you, just in time to see a convoy of troops and skinny droids.
They would be at least a hundred between all, slowly surrounding the place.
He was probably trying to corner you inside the building.
You smiled a little, since now the city would be less guarded.
As you advance through the ruined landscape, you decide to check how your companions are doing.

Potato has lost color, having a pale green appearance.
He blamed the weather and asked when you were going to leave.
After you gave him an unsatisfying answer, he went back inside one of your pockets to sleep or the equivalent for a sentient plant.

Ghal had a couple more things on his mind.
"What's your opinion of the colonel, Boss?"
"So from master to boss now?" you jokingly asked.
"Feels weird to not call you anything, but Boss sounds worse somehow."

"Just stop then, but for the question I think Cedalion is misguided. What is your opinion?"
Ghal reflected for a moment.
"I didn't hear everything he said, but it doesn't click with me. Why did the only person in charge come and not the other two intelligent chimeras he mentioned?
Wasn't that an unnecessary risk?"
"He wanted me alive, and we'll see what's going on with those other two."

After this, you continue your advance in a specific direction.
Guided by rusty billboards and your sense of wonder.
Where are you going?
>To the public park (Game of distortion; Skeleton in armor)
>The shopping district (Game of distortion; Tomboys)
>A power plant

That is a good plan.
But spells don’t stack, it would be a single one that needs prep.
This is done because if the spell is too big the god of magic might smite you down or go haywire in a similar way to Spatial torsion.
And a crit hit would inflict a permanent injury if my notes are right.
Correct me if I did it diferently before.

Maybe only if we self inject. I have a proposal: We inject Potato with it to make him a "better battery". He's never expected to engage in direct combat, so the Anemic negative trait doesn't matter to us.
>>
>>5319736
This is a pretty good idea if we want to be safe about things and keep our -1 damage skill, we'd need an extra soul battery for spatial torsion and other high cost spells we might obtain though unless Potato can directly contribute to our aberrance for those spells like a soul battery can.
>>
>>5319830
At this point, Potato is more or less designated as a living soul battery.

we lose out on our damage reduction trait but upping our own aberrance is something that I feel is worthwhile, especially since we'd only be 4 aberrance off from being able to cast our nuke. Not to mention that we still have mage armor and various other defensive spells to offset our damage reduction loss and can cast them more frequently.
Its pretty reasonable to have Potato get injected so we can recharge soul battery more easily but I feel like getting closer to 20 aberrance is better.
My reasoning though is mostly just that I'm assuming soul batteries and our own natural aberrance stat are all that are allowed to contribute, if this isn't the case or if theres ways to get Potato to directly contribute to a spell's cost then I might consider switching.

>The shopping district (Game of distortion; Tomboys)
You reached your destination after spending time avoiding collapsed streets and the various things that move through the ruins.
And it was more or less what you expected, a modernized farmer's market.

It was a wide plaza with an industrial-looking structure and wide entrances.
Entering you saw that it was arranged in a grid with three floors down.
Connected with walkways and stairs that at the time would be very practical.
Now, rusty and about to collapse, they gave a feeling of insecurity.
You soon discovered that there were stores connected to each other.

Starting to search for the ground floor you found a couple of clothing stores.
The mannequins and synthetic fabrics were still more or less intact, but the rest was rubbish.
The other store you entered was a coffee shop.
Metal stools and a kitchen was all that was left.
You would have passed quickly if it wasn't for the fact that someone had been here recently.
There were footprints in the dust and a used torch lying on the ground.

You followed the trail to the stairs and watched as it descended.
You stealthily leaned over the railing and started looking for the person who had done that.

Sneak roll: 18 + 6 +3(Rascal) DC: 14 + 4 + 4 Result: Success (you remain hidden)

You quickly found her in the center of the square.
Filling rusty pots with stagnant water from the fountain.
Her attentive gaze watched her surroundings but luckily she didn't see you.
She was a female Tyr in strange-looking armor.
Although you could not see more details from your position, she was too far away.

Ghal sat next to you in your hidden observatory.
"Master, this smells like trouble. Please don't do anything stupid."

What will you do?

You can use the batteries with the aberrance of a creature to contribute to a spell.
The only diference is that batteries dont regen aberrance.
>>
>>5320677
Does this mean that Potato can straight up just contribute the +4? I'll switch to injecting him instead if we can do so.
>>
>>5320679
A group of people casting a single spell is normal.
they just need the rune to be near all of them.
>>
>>5320674
I'm pretty sure the acoustics would carry our voice into the bottom floor, so we should lay closer to the northern entrance to acquire physical and visual cover apart from an easy route of escape, carefully unequip our fedora for our speech, then say:
>"Hi, are you another survivor?"
>>
Also, I think we should make both a telescope and mirror spell. They should be easy enough to make by messing with the density and refractory rate of the air. Or just bending light.

>>5320703

>>5320681
If Potato is able to regen +4 abberance or we inject him, we should so that instead of making us weaker.
Like if we get attacked by a swarm of angry bees (lots of weak attackers) we are gonna die.
>>
>>5320795
we technically aren't taking a flat damage increase though, we just lose the flat reduction we have since it cancels out from -1 and +1. Its still a pretty big difference so its probably for the best we just inject Potato considering we can use his aberrance for our spells.
>>
>>5320795
Wait, I see a problem.
Normal creatures have a amount they regen but Potato is a spriggan.
>Construct: you do not regenerate aberrance or corporality. This creature cannot die of old age.
he cant regenerate aberrance.
>>
>>5320805
Well shit, are we allowed to transfer aberrance to him though? We could just have our party members transfer their excess aberrance to him if needed.
>>
>>5320805
>>5320808
He can actively absorb abberance out of things though, so it still works for us.
>>
>>5320808
yes
>>
>>5320808
Why would we need to transfer to him?
>>
>>5320844
Our aberrance regens at the end of the day, his doesn't. I guess if he can maintain 11 aberrance easily then its fine but still quite a high number considering thats around 5 corpses.
I guess the tradeoff for safety is the speed at which he gains back aberrance. It'd limit the amount we're available to take advantage of the extra aberrance at the very least but I suppose that spamming spells won't be too necessary unless we're up against stuff like Gorefield.
>>
>>5320978
We're not even close, we can straight up use it and have some left over if we have both soul batteries + the upgrade and have potato cover some of the cost. 7 + 4 + 5 + 5 + 2 = 23
>>
>>5320872
But did you forget he can absorb abberance through both objects and living things?
>>
>>5321021
objects and animals generally yield less but I guess with enough its doable. Either way Potato has to have his aberrance actively charged rather than passively like we can if we decide to inject him.
>>
>>5320996
damn, we need to start hoarding more. Not to worry anons we still have quite the large city with us that is ready to be looted to our hearts content, plus it seems that our elf guide from before has already succeded at angering the empire towards us and we will soon be hunted by our inquisitor acquaintance.
>>
>>5320813
If we're tied between using it or using it on Potato, I would like to propose we save it for later. Perhaps we can experiment on it? I do recall we discussed the possibility of making a spriggan shaft to connect the rending cleaver too. As in, the shaft is alive and is a soul battery. If we inject our weapon with it it could get an extra +4 magic capacity.
I dont want to lose our natural +1 armor. Our health is too low for big boy damage.

Finding this person here has piqued your curiosity.
But you don't want to take the risk of coming out in the open.
So you found a secluded place where you could peek down without being exposed.

You took off your fedora, since you couldn't take yourself seriously with that hat on.
And you prepared to start a conversation.
Ghal saw what you were going to do and began preparing an escape route.
He had given up hope that you would stop attracting attention, so he took the next best step.

You took a deep breath and spoke with a loud voice.
“Hi, Who are you? Are you a survivor?”
You words echo clearly through the place, hiding the origin of the sound.
You see the woman drop the pots when she hears you, she begins looking around, searching for you.
“Show yourself !” She screams
“If you tell me who and what you are doing here I will.” You answer, unsure if you are telling the truth.

She was still looking for you but found nothing.
So in her panic, she raises her hand to cast a spell.
A thin fog begins to emerge from her fingers, and it quickly covers the lower floor.
You are puzzled, how did she cast a spell without runes?
The only other person you know that can do that are the spriggans, you don’t voice your concern out loud just in case.
In the few seconds you processed that information you lost sight of her.

For a few tense seconds you waited in silence, the sound of creaking metal and the wind accompanying you.
“Did you hide because you are single?” You take a moment to think on what you said “shit, I mean alone! Are you alone? Do you need help?”
“What’s with you, demon worshiper! I will purge your cult.” You hear a scream from somewhere down below
“What? Why would you assume that?”
“What else would you be doing here!” she answered, shortly after you heard a crashing noise and her swearing.

“Well, I’m kind of a… explorer. What about you?”
There was some silence.
“I’m the Chosen of Qothos, if you speak the truth show yourself! I vow to not harm you despite the grave violation you made coming into the demon lands.”
You heard her a bit closer now and you realized she was coming up.

What will you do?

We're here with an expedition to kinda slow down the raids. Why is she even here, besides being the Chosen of Qothos? This place is seriously dangerous, and if those demons come here we'll all be in trouble.
What's with her strange armor and weapon? Gifts from god?

God of law, the one that got killed by the demon lord.

My notes are here if you need them.

He's the (Dead) god of law. The same one from the inquisition guys.
>>5321955
>Keep talking with her from your hiding spot (what do you say/ask)
I think being Qorthos'es chosen equals being an inquisitor, so she's guaranteed to h8 humans, but our disguise should have us covered, if she doesn't know us.
I have some more questions to ask her:
>Didn't she know teams have been sent to explore the city?
>When was the last time she got her news from the outside world?
This one is very important, since she probably isn't getting any news from her god, she could be oblivious to the fact that we are hunted by the inquisition and fool her.
If she hasn't gotten news from the inquisition in a while, it should be safe to reveal ourselves, otherwise we should bolt out of the mall.
>How come she is here if entering is a grave violation then?
>How long has she been here?
>Why the ridiculous assumption that we are a demon worshipper?
>How does she cast spells?
>What's her name?

>>
>>5322018
I dunno . Looking at the picture the weird halo like thing behind her head perhaps reinforces the notion that she is a chosen/saint of Qothos. And she is able to cast without chanting?
If she has been here ever since the war "ended" it could be that a fragment of her god survived in her. Im not quite sure how this champion system works but my guess is that when someone becomes a champion/chosen they get a small portion of their patron inside them. This would help her survive in hostile conditions as they are buffed up on divine juice.
But if we are the chosen of Gaia then does that mean we have a part of her in us?(or not i dont remember if we are her champion just that she wants us as a pawn) Or she could just be a Qothos cultist that was deemed worthy to be a chosen and that would imply that gods can be revived thus making her a herald of his resurrection. Bad either way we shouldnt show ourselves to her if either is the case the divine juice could help her identify us as a demon/outsider. The only way it could be safe is that the title is just a signifier of duty and authority/rank among her religion and nothing else.
>>
>>5322083
Hmmm. Maybe we should ask her questions so she can answer our queries.
>>
What is the plan when we return to Cedalion?
What do we say to the expedition leaders when we leave?
>>
>>5323240
Improving speech to convince Cedalion to stop acting goofy with the raids, ask if hes tried pumping water from deep underground from water reservoirs (use demonic computer to do fact checking), and build hydroponic farms, or possibly aquaponics. Maybe do some research about the artifical weather to dispell it or determine who casted it there, for what reasons.

We're keeping the truck cuz it's neat and can carry things like a carriage. We'll fuck off to a different city other than the capital elf holy city so we can resupply, do information digging, etc., before returning to Cedalion.

What's your plan?
>>
I dont have a defined plan lol thats why I asked.
But im excited about playing magical factorio when we return to him, tinker with the chimeras explore the human federations technology.
And perhaps a non immediate goal would be to build a hidden metro system to travel around the city and later the continent.

>Keep talking with her from your hiding spot (Many questions)
You nervously gulp and look towards Ghal who is trying to get you to come with him and escape.
But you can’t, this is an opportunity like no other.
So you try to break the ice.
“What's your name?” you ask
“Even if you try to be friendly, I will stab you if you are a demon worshiper.” She answered
“That won’t be necessary, but can I know wants to stab me?”
“Rakta…You?” she said slowly
>[what name do you want to give her?]

“I came here with an expedition a day ago to kinda slow down the raids. Why did you come here? This place is seriously dangerous, even for a Chosen, and if those demons come here we'll all be in trouble.”
“Are you just going to interrogate me?” She asked with a tired tone.
“Well, You assumed I was a demon worshipper so I’m curious. Is that why you are here? Are there elves and tyr worshiping demons or is it the acid sputters? How long have you been here doing that? Are-“
“SHUT the fuck up, you sheep! “ she screamed, you could pinpoint the sound source somewhere in the northern part.

There was a moment of pure silence in which Ghal frantically gestured you to follow him out.
“Look. I shouldn’t tell you, but I seriously don’t know and I’m tired. I came here almost two weeks ago and I don’t know why. Everyone just hears “Chosen” and… never mind.” You heard a faint sigh
“But I swear, if you are a cultist I will kick your ass.” She sounded irritated when she said this.
A few seconds later the northern staircase collapsed and crashed into the bottom floor.
Once the dust began to settle and the hanging pieces of metal dropped you heard a “I’m fine” from somewhere in the darkness.

“Can I ask a last question?”
“Shoot, then it’s my turn.” She responded from her hiding place.
“How did you become a Chosen? Is it because the equipment or do you have a piece of Qothos in you?”
“Were you raised under a rock? Seriously, even a Cultist should know, maybe you are only guilty of being stupid.
The armor is just normal armor used to hide what’s underneath, a Chosen has a bit of god flesh in them. Now my question, Why are you still hiding?”

You stopped for a second to think about the answer, you knew why.
You were afraid that she could see through your disguise and that you would end up fighting her.
But you could not tell her that.
It was worrying, and in the stillness you could hear her moving in the corridor bellow yours.

How will you answer that question?

>How come she is here if entering is a grave violation then?
Didn’t Know how to fit this naturally in the conversation.
Short explanation, not touching the Demon capital is part of the peace agreement between the Democracy and the Empire.
The Church works separately so it does not enter in that contract.

The dispelling would be harder than drilling.
But its a good idea, I recommend you ask this to Cedalion or the other two.

I'm considered a few methods to become Chosen.
I'll let the players pick the poison since there will be a balance of quality and quantity.

Gas-mask; Wearer is immune to gas type poisons, +2 to hide your identity, -1 to hit rolls when equip, -1 to speech rolls

>Prepare a spell to cast if she reacts with hostility

You considered your options.
You could stay hidden or reveal yourself as she asked.
But staying hidden wouldn't help since she didn't seem keen to continuing the conversation like this.
So you put on your gas mask in an effort to hide better your identity, and pulled out a little notebook with your spells to keep handy.
Just in case.

With those preparations and Ghal's disapproval, you got up and walked to the edge.
Leaving you visible from any floor.
“You make a good point. Here I am.” You spoke softly, a bit afraid she would shot you.
“Why the mask?” you heard, the voice sounded very far away
“I- For my scars, village I lived got attacked by chimeras, I prefer not to talk about it. Bad memories. “
You expected a response, but there was just a deafening silence.
You mused if it was in poor taste to joke about how scary she looked.
“Where did you go?” You asked, looking down.

“I’m right here, now let’s get a look at you. I don’t fucking believe you are just some dude.” You heard her say behind you.
You turned to see he emerge from a one of the shops that had some staircase down.
She began to walk towards you, sword in hand.
Meanwhile Ghal hid and took out his weapon.
You had confidence in your disguise, it could easily trick an elf.
So it wouldn’t be too hard to trick a tyr even under heavy scrutiny.

[Roll: 20 + 8 DC: 22 Result: Success (She knows you are not an elf)]

She looked at you from head to toes a couple of times and raised her sword.
"What the fuck? I knew you were lying! What are you?”
You panic and held the spell book a little tighter and defaulted to denial.
“What? No, I’m an elf, why would you say that?” You tried to sound hurt while you backed away.

“You must be a feral or a chimera. And we both know what happens now.” She said, looking at the spell book in your hand.
She quickly casted a spell on herself and charged at you.

The mask is a no go since we have a penalty to speech.

Dump everything into an illusion spell. The stuff of nightmare. Cthulu, the outer gods, Shogoths. Anything to get her to tire herself out and expend all her spells.

While she's distracted that will either give us the time to either flee or land a sneak attack, which the vote leans towards. Plus I wanna see what an abberance 5 infused illusion spell looks like.
>>
>>5324604
Save DC for sleep would be 16. I dont know what her insight is, but let's assume its 8. Thay means....she has a 60% chance of success? Is that math right?
Wait yeah her insight is definitely 8 since you need insight to determine if our disguise is a fake or not.

Oh uh I also wanted to suggested the illusion thing because I kinda want to non lethally take her down.....and possibly steal her sword. It looks cool.

What stat should I use to resit fear?
I was thinking Instinct

/Strength- Your physical prowess
/Aberrance- Your magic capacity and the potential to change your vessel
/Instinct- Gut feelings, perception and how quick you react (passive stat)
/Speech- How well you can talk and influence others.
/Corporeality- How real you are, serves as HP. Also serves as a constitution for poisons.
/Insight_ Understanding of the world and how you see it.

Giving an order to Ghal to remove her armor, you start rummaging through your backpack for medical equipment.

"This is a bad idea, she just tried to kill you." Ghal said.
"meh, so does most of this world. I don't take it personal, now help me."

The metal plate he was wearing as armor was removed and you pulled up the shirt underneath it.
Her skin was covered with old surgical scars and a deep bleeding wound.
You entrusted Ghal to guide you through this, while Potato prepared the aberrace batteries in case she died.

You used what was left of your aberrance in your healing spells to stabilize her body.
Luckily for you, she was unconscious, so you could perform the following steps without her feeling the intense pain that you and Ghal were going to cause by pretending to be surgeons.
"Well, the wound is below the spleen so…" Ghal fell silent looking at the wound.
With a small knife he opened the wound a little, to be able to better see the mess inside.
"Okay, i dont recognize those organs, I'm not a doctor but there should be only one pulse. Why do I feel two?"

After some hesitation, Ghal helped guiding you on the source of the bleeding.
Applying compression to block the renal vein, you began suturing as best you could.

Minor heal: 2 Aberrance +6 to roll
Medkit: 1 charge +8 to roll
Roll; 8 + 8 + 6 =22 AD; 25 Result: Failure

After a few minutes the pool of blood was too large.
The Chosen one's skin color had paled and breathing had stopped.
She was dead.
While you contemplated the situation, Ghal helped Potato to make the most of this situation.
Sticking the batteries into her chest you saw them fill with a faint white light.
[Batteries recover 6 aberrance]

Trying to get your "patient" out of your mind, you started checking her equipment.
The armor was of good quality although it did not cover very well.
A piece that prioritized aesthetics over defense, but thanks to the good materials it gave a good result.

The sword was a piece without any kind of decoration on the other hand.
Feeling very unrefined except for the edge.
It also felt hot when you reached out with your hand.
Not in the sense of your skin, but the whole hand felt heat.
It was a fairly hard black metal, but with many observable impurities.

You also found a rosary with the symbol of Qothos
>>
> Half plate armor: Reduce all physical damage taken by 1, -2 to all movement rolls
>Holy sword ( 4 damage)(Ignore armor damage reduction)(???)
>Qothos rosary

You weren't sure what to do after this so you wandered around.
Most of the shops were destroyed and with nothing useful in them.
When you got to the ground floor you noticed a couple of things.
The fountain was filled with mucus that bled from cracks below.
And the Chosen had arranged a room to live.

There were a couple of graves there for what you suspected were other members of her expedition.
Besides the fire and a dead Chimera.
You found a couple of chunks of its meat roasting over the fire.

You found almost nothing, neither rations nor tools.
A couple of blankets were the most relevant.

You came up from the pit just in time to hear the sounds of church bells haunt the city.
Their deep sound echoing through all the city.
The sun had set and darkness had settled.

What will you do?

Minor heal: 2 Aberrance +6 to roll
Medkit: 1 charge +8 to roll
Roll; 8 +7 + 8 + 6 =29 AD; 25 Result: Success

After a few minutes of panic and stitches, you managed to stop the bleeding.
The wound had been deep and it was unlikely that she was going to move for the next few days.
But you managed to save her life.

She was still unconscious so you had time to think of a plan.
"Master, do you have a plan? We could take her to the expedition and she would probably calm down after confirming your story was mostly true,
but the leaders would not like it and it would raise suspicion. Again. Because it would be the second time you go off alone and come back with a naked lady,
but this time it would be a Chosen."

"Don't worry, I'm sure we can bring this zealous idiot into our side."
You looked over to her, and apart from the massive blood loss, she looked peaceful.

"Sir, please, stop thinking with your genitals. She is a Chosen one, stop looking at her abs and look at her training.
She could eventually discover your identity." Ghal tried to plead with you
"So we make her sign a contract, like Flora."
"Sir, listen to yourself, I... never mind, you do you. I will tie her hands up in the meantime."

....

The rest of the update remains canon.

What will you do?

>>
>>5327313
>Does that mean they are augmented with extra organs from normal Tyr?
The original idea, yes. Like space marines in 40k
The cloning vats were supposed to be for the chimeras only.
Your idea of all Chosen to be identical clones is infinitely more amusing.

They collectively are the hand of god, indoctrinated even before they were born.
No individuality, not even their face, with the exception of shameful scars obtained in the battlefield.
Forced into a life where they are a tool and propaganda at the same time, and unable to question it.
The tyr and humans using the same tech to fight each other while denying they have something in common.
its way better than the church running orphanages to scout for potential soldiers.

and that’s without considering they know they serve a martyr god, how do you even live up to that standard when you are judge as a group?

You decide it's a bad idea to drag the "prisoner" back to camp.
Not only because your other companions would question the situation, but you would have to cross the city in the dark with a dead weight.
It was a dangerous task that you decided to avoid.
Going down to the lowest floor, you took refuge in the camp that Rakta had already prepared, although you took out the corpse of the Chimera.

Leaving Ghal to prepare the rations, you climbed to a high point on a sturdy-looking building nearby.
Around you were the dimly lit ruins and a cloudy night sky
The only fully illuminated buildings were two skyscrapers, a stadium, a couple of bulky buildings, and a few smaller ones in the distance.
You were sitting on that roof for a while.
The moon was dim and the sky was dark.
Not a star in sight.
You could hear machines moving in the distance, but they were far away.

You returned to the hiding place you had.
The fire had heated the room and the ceiling was beginning to have soot stains.
Ghal handed you your dinner and as you ate, you asked him questions about the anatomy of the Tyr.
He was not a doctor but he tried to explain more or less how a tyr should be.
First aid training; (Next level 1/5)

From what you could learn, anatomically there was a difference in proportions with similar positioning to yours
More advanced knowledge would require serious study.

After that you checked the Chosen's equipment.
The rosary was a normal piece, mass produced without any detail that differentiates it from others.

The sword was a mystery. It had no symbols or runes, it was a solid piece.
Which raised questions with the sensation of heat, maybe some magical metal?
You asked Ghal but he couldn't give you an answer.
The situation seemed familiar to you, perhaps you had read something about this?
but at this moment he did not come to your mind what was happening with the weapon.
The armor did have an identification number inside.
"#-492"

Sleep came quickly after that and you dreamed of things that you would quickly forget.

You were awakened by Ghal as the sun was just beginning to peek over the horizon.
"Sir, the, SHE has woken up." He said with a little concern.
"One second." you said, still too sleepy to process what was happening.
"Hurry please"

When you finally felt awake, you stood up.
The first thing you saw was Rakta, eyes wide open, looking at you.
There was no hate in her eyes, but there was some hostility.
Ghal was busy trying to boil the liquid in the fountain.
You didn't know what it was but he was having a hard time.

"And now what?" she ask you
"I don't know, are you going to try to kill me again?"
she ignored your question and began to speculate out loud.
"You are accompanied by a mutant tyr, so I rule out that you are a feral. You are not an elf or a tyr, you do not have scales and your hands do not match mutants of other races. My main bet is that you are a chimera, a new variant. Are you going to deny this?"
"Will anything I say change your opinion?" you asked, undecided if you should be annoyed or amused by the situation.
"Could you take off that mask you're wearing."

Ghal gave up on his project and threw the pot out of the room.
That interrupted the conversation long enough for her to ask another question.
"What's your plan? You didn't let me die so you need something from me." She said slowly, watching Potato peek out of your pocket.

"Why do you always assume the worst?"
"I am the hand of Qothos, I must be vigilant and you are hiding something big."

Ghal interrupted the conversation
"Miss, could you at least consider letting us leave without you chasing us? You're still alive thanks to him."
"No, I was sent to this place without a clear mission and you two are an anomaly. That means you are targets of my quest."

What will you do?

>>
>>5327920
>Try to talk some sense into her (HOW?)
I dont trust our illusion can beat her insight, with only 3 abberance to fuel it.
Explain that the mask stays on because we infact like our face not being exposed to air and sunlight (keep notes on her comments on our hands and skin. More things to hide to improve our disguise). For the entire duration of our encounter with her, we've done nothing hostile towards her except in self defense despite her initiating the attack, and even then we were willing to risk healing her evem if she were to cast some spell on us the minute she woke up. It doesnt matter who we are, but why we did it. And I say, "why not?"
She's got this weird sword, her armor has numbers on them. Who is she exactly? Why would anyone send anyone into this forsaken place, except to die? Did they not want her anymore? Does that explain the graves? Like, that's kinda messed up.

The situation was tense and she was beginning to irritate you.
You hadn't done anything really violent and she had attacked you.
And she now she refused to just let you go, no matter how nice you were being.
So you decided to mention the monster that Cedalion mentioned.
"Why yes, I needed you to help me destroy the gorefield in the stadium.
I would have probably told you that if you hadn't attacked me for no reason. Are you aware of your stupidity?"

"You're fucking kidding me, right?" It was the first thing I asked.
"No, you don't believe me?"
"NO! If you really needed my help for something why did you kill my sisters!?"

You look behind you at the graves whose headstones are unmarked rubble.
You can assume they died in combat with some chimera patrol.
"I already told you, I'm not a chimera. But I need to ask, why did you get send here? This is a death trap." you asked, crouching down to get on her level.

She sighed.
"We were sent here by a grand inquisitor. Something is happening in the wasteland, we were four Chosen and one inquisitor.
And if you are not a chimera what are you?"
"an elf"
"I don't believe that."
"And that was enough reason to attack me?" you asked
"Yes. You go into a battle field and an armed soldier of the opposing side finds you, and what do you do?
You kill him before the reinforcements arrive, otherwise he could follow you and the situation repeats itself."
"I was just talking to you."
"You had a spell book in your hand and could have been stalling for time. I don't take chances."

You are silent for a second until she asks a question.
"What is a gorefield?"
"its a... very big rot eater."
"How big?"
"Not sure, large enough that they use the stadium as storage. Will you help?"
You said honestly, you had no clue about the size of the creature.

"How do you know about this?"
"..." oh shit, she is on to you. again.
>[Explain how you got that information]

After giving her your explanation, and not sure if you had convinced her, you decided to ask what mattered.
"Are you going to help?"
Rakta pondered her response.
"Yes, I know you're a chimera, but I'm still here after all so lying would make little sense. But I still don't know because you kept me alive."
"Why not?"
"I won't hesitate to kill you, so no tricks." she said she, even with her hands tied up.

You also asked about the equipment.
The numbers on the armor were her identification number.
She refused to explain further or divulge the number of Chosen that existed.
Possibly because she didn't know either.

"The sword is just a standard one given to all Chosen. Made from, uritrite? I don’t remember. Its blessed so all who are not Chosen get sick from it."

With that out of the way you had to decide what to do.
>Go to the stadium

My bet's on the blade being made out of uranium, although it may also be made out of thorium, since both look black and are radioactive.

.....OH FUCKING SHIT! AND WE TOUCHED IT! Fuck! So they give all their Choosen Ones powerful, yet radioactive metal swords. So that means their clone army is powerful and expensive. Yeah that's real fucked, and I'm all for the idea of making some sort of carbon shielding shealth. I would suggest she throw the sword away, but I doubt she would so a radiation shielding shealth would at least delay her eventual case of super cancer by maybe a few years.

I mean really. Fucj her sword. Go claymores all day every day they're pretty strong guns.
>>
>>5329350
Both U and Th are light grey, but they tarnish dark dark grey so you'd need to give it a scrape to see its true colour. U would be a pretty poor material for a sword blade given its extremely high density makes a blade of any appreciable size nigh-unswingable from weight. The even denser Pu, being highly pyrophoric, oxidises very easily and rapidly into a brittle black substance and chipped metal will catch fire.
Natural U and Th are very low-level radioactive, and even highly enriched uranium isn't radioactive enough to be warm even if the church could do enrichment. To get the sort of radioactivity required, your only practical option is Pu and that raises even more questions and means a lot of people probably died from radiation exposure and criticality accidents to make this sword if the church can't handle the metal properly.
U, Pu and Th are all more or less pure α-emitters with a component of γ, the former of which is incapable of penetrating skin or more than a few inches of air so they're actually not *that* dangerous to handle or be near for short periods so long as you wash your hands afterwards, don't breathe any dust or chips and don't sleep with it under your pillow.
>>
>>5328969
Her sword seems like something similar to a stronger short sword. Has she considered getting a buckler for her off spell casting arm? Her armor only covers her legs and torso. Shes also lacking a helmet. She should get one when she has the chance. It would vastly improve her life expectancy.

What does she plan to do after she's done here? Return to the church?

QM is it possible for us to "corrupt" Rakta into leaving the services of the church? They are more or less responsible for the death of her "sisters", who she has shown to care for. Well, actually not it might had been in part due to her inquisitors carelessness that got all but her killed. Still more or less the church's fault.

Will we be able to loot the gore field?

I'm going to assume her perception is so high that it bypasses the tyr/elf barrier, or that she is familiar with elves making the DC excursion to elves not much of an issue. She is no elf since she has no horns.
Whatever the case we're too far in the rabbit hole to go back.

You decided that ending this problem directly was the best option.
In addition, if you involved the rest of the expedition, they could take an action that would put all of you in danger.

Ghal went through the formality of freeing Rakta from her bonds.
"If he is a chimera, what are you exactly?"
"The voice of reason." He said as he untied her.
After that, she picked up her equipment, since you hadn't found a way to keep it, without it ending up in a fight.

When you saw that her sword was simply hooked to a metal piece at her waist, you had to ask.

The building was relatively close to the market.
Just a couple of empty streets and an awkward silence to get there.
It was a classic oval shaped building with sturdy walls despite the centuries.

You circled it to check for possible entrances, it was a rot eater prison after all.
And it had four, the north and south were closed metal doors.
The one on the south seemed busier since it didn't have as much rust and the way to the road was clear.
The West was one of the entrances to the public that the fans would use, it had two Chimeras posted as guards.
This was also a public entrance but it was empty.
This begged the question, if this is a prison for a monster, why so little security?

Anyway, your options were to use paths that would surely be guarded but accessible or enter areas that were at risk of collapsing,
especially if you used explosives or offensive magic.

"Weren't you a chimera? Why do we have to sneak in?" asked Rakta
"I'm not a chimera, so they'd shoot us."
"I'd rather we didn't go in, but I'd feel more comfortable going down a path that didn't involve unnecessary violence.
Also what’s that symbol they painted on the wall?" Ghal reasoned.
“They use those to mark their territory, but normally it’s another one." Rakta said unhelpfully.

“Wait, is this just a raid on a rival chimera faction? Now it makes sense.” She said trying to provoke you into confessing.
“Fucks sake, no.”
But Rakta had already made up her mind and correcting her on the nature of that symbol would only make you more suspicious.

Tell Rakta some bullshit that she should probably get a shealth for her sword anyways, to show some care for her blade and reduce weathering or something? Also ask her more about these factions. We didnt know chimeras had factions.

Ah. I suggested saying "We didnt know chimeras had factions" to try and reinforce the fact we are not in fact a chimera to Rakta, but I doubt she would care or believe otherwise. I'm grasping at straws trying to convince her, but perhaps a smarter anon could do it.

Lmao true. Can we add the parts where we obliviously ask about chimera factions and why would a tyr follow a chimera to put cracks in her logic, to doubt herself?

Oh oh. Yeah I got more WRINKLE BRAIN thinkz. If shes ever fought a chimera, she should know they talk more rigidly and static like. They talk real weird and funny. If she talked to one of the leaders, she would had been dead already. We are clearly neither since we dont talk in reverb, or sound insane. We talk like a normal person. No chimera talks like that. We would know, we killed some before. Ghal can back that up.

More world fact checking. The first chimera we knocked out and killed melted away so we couldn't loot the body but Rakta was eating one. I'm gonna assume that not all chimeras melt in death, and some remain whole. That or she managed to remove the acidic organs before it melted the thing from the inside out.

with all the talk of whether you were a chimera or not you remembered the way they had to talk.
Mechanical choirs and pre-recorded messages.
Giving you another tool to understand why Rakta assumed you were a chimera.
“Rakta, you probably have seen chimeras talk and give those orders to surrender.”
“Yes, very unsettling. They all have the same voice.”
“So why do you think I’m a chimera when we can have a normal conversation? And about Ghal, do you think he is also a chimera?”
“I think you might be an elf at some point, but too many things are wrong with you, same with him.
You are probably some type of chimera infiltrator, there are monsters who can steal the voice from their victims to lure travelers.”
“Have you ever seen one?”
“Not yet.”

You proceeded to the east entrance.
A large reception with sales windows and turnstiles.
You jumped over them and advanced, passing posters eaten away by light and time.
There was a large hall where you could imagine the stalls of hot dogs and t-shirts of whatever was played here.
There was a bit of a draft, so it wasn't too dusty.

There were two paths, one to the stairs that would go up to the seats and another through a closed door.
Both gave the impression of not having been used in decades.
You decided to use the stairs.
Most likely Cedalion would have used the main field to store the rot eaters.
so being one level above would be beneficial.

Those concrete stairs had better withstood the wear and tear of the years, so you quickly reached the stands.
the light blinded you for a few seconds, and when your vision returned you wished you had never set foot here.

Your attention was caught by the creature sleeping in the center of the field.
A mass of pulsing flesh, a cacophonous body of perverse blood and sinew.
Bones and scales coating the thing, breaking to caustic fluids spelled from within.
Several heads trying to break free from the sleeping titan, forever in silence in fear of waking up the main body.
The head was unclear in shape, where did it begin and end?
its closed eyes and snout blended into tentacles that actively moved around the body.
The arms seemed to be braided with the bodies of victims, but as soon as you looked away they would melt into another body part.
There were also pustules that resembled ticks, they even detached themselves from the creature and to move elsewhere.
Only to be reabsorbed and spit out again.

It was a titanic mass of cursed meat, you wondered if it could be killed.
You could see roots dig into the long dead grass field, sucking the life from deep underground.
A second blight upon this land.

Ghal was left speechless, sitting on one of the plastic chairs of the stadium to contemplate the sight in front of him.
Potato did peek out, and asked if it was safe to eat that thing.
Rakta made the only question that truly mattered in that moment.
"How do you plan we kill it." she said in a calm voice, but she was still unable to stop looking at the creature.
Maybe in fear it would move if she was not watching it.

I hope i have not disapointed with this big surprise.

>>
>>5331405
I....I dont know why dissecting it is an option. You mean cutting it up stealthily? Is that it? I'm torn between dissection and explosion.

Are there any rats or vermin around? Can our kitty catch them and bring them to Potato to absorb, then stick the excess Abberance into the soul battieres? More abberance means more extra boom sticks.
>>
>>5331418
>stealthily?
it wont be, thats why 2d20 insted of 1d20

>Are there any rats or vermin around?
not here, especialy not here.
Maybe in the industrial part of the city, where they convert corpses into chimeras or rations.

right now, the explosives without spells would deal 8d10 damage.
>>
>>5331409
NGL this this is significantly bigger than I thought it was. Definitely a Shoggoth.

Let's keep up with breaking down her believe we're a chimera. We know magic. We know how to cast spells. The only reason she's alive is because we used the healing spell and she knows we use magic because of the book we have. No chimera we've fought (all of 2 or 3) could do magic, ergo we're not a chimera.

>“Have you ever seen one?”
>“Not yet.”
If chimera infiltrators existed, then they wouldn't have waste their time to heal you and killed you by then, or they wouldn't had bother to let themselves be known to you. This either implies chimera infiltrators are so good at their job that no one has heard of them, or they don't exist.
If they existed, which they definitely don't, then you would be the last person to discover one since you're more of a fight first think later kind of las. And. You know. We're WELCOME for the medical treatment. It's not like I wasted my one medkit on you. (How ungrateful)

Uh wait. Does the Shoggoth count as a structure for the purpose of double damage due to its size or no? Is the 8d10 damage from throwing all four of our explosives? If that's the case them I think we should give two each to Ghal and Rakta.

If we manage to toss the explosives inside a giant mouth and have it swallow the explosives, would that deal more damage?

You looked at the fluctuating mass of meat, noticing a slight dampness in the air from his breathing.
You weren't sure if you had enough explosives so you decided to go back to the expedition and get more.

"Ghal, Rakta, I'm going back to camp to get more explosives.
I'd rather not be seen stealing them so I'll go alone."
The first to file a complaint, surprisingly, was Ghal.
"The bosses shouldn't approve of this use of explosives? Why hide it?"
"Couple of reasons, but the main one is so…" You were going to reply, but you had Rakta watching your next words very carefully.
"...don't decide to study this thing first."

"Doesn't sound like a good plan to me." She said. "If we kill this thing won't those tick just swarm us?"
"Not if we use enough dynamite." you said, praying you were right.

...

The return to camp was weird.
The streets that were normally empty had a lot of activity.
Several convoys of chimeras and deconstruction droids moved through certain streets in a hurry.
They did not pay too much attention, since they passed quite close to you but they did not see you.
You were hidden, but if they had been watching the trip would have been more difficult.

The camp was the same as when you left.
The three groups had already left, only the rescue team and those who should not enter the city remained here.
Emilia was playing cards with some mercenaries in the center.
Niven was still studying the truck.
Flora was nowhere to be seen and David was doing a lousy job of guarding.

You were able to get close to the carriage with the boxes of explosives without too much trouble.
It wasn't really guarded.
Upon entering you noticed that things had been moved.
Searching you only saw two of the five boxes of dynamite.
These had eighteen sticks of dynamite each.
The rest had been taken to the city.

While you were filling your bag with explosives you heard your bosses walking past the cart.

"...It doesn't matter if we're done... if we don't find that, there's no distraction."
"If they can't hold it, it'll show up on its own."
"But not in... we will be at war!"
"...no options...we'll settle for this..."
"And the missing...? Are we... them inside...?"

They were too far away for you to hear the rest of the conversation.
They didn't see you thanks to the fabric walls the carts had.
They reminded you a lot of the Wild West.

You knew you were going to need at least one box.
But you didn't want to be here too long either.
So you emptied a whole one and filled it with miscellaneous items that were in the cart.
Then you put a couple of sticks on top to make it look like they were still there.
Once prepared and stored, you asked Potato for help to cast a spell.

[Crit = Roll to loot]
(15 sticks of dynamite purchased)

Invisibility was a good way to get out without being seen, and even if you didn't need it, it was always better to be safe than sorry.
It didn't last you all the way back, but you did take advantage of it to search through the abandoned buildings.
The houses were inaccessible and many of the shops that were still standing had been looted by explorers who had come before you.
It gave the impression that everything in this cemetery had already been stolen.
Although there were still some things of value.

Returning to the stadium you used the same path as last time.
you found Ghal sitting on the stairs leading to the stands.
When you asked, he said he couldn't keep looking at that thing.
You finished climbing the steps and Rakta sitting closer to the titan.
Still watching it with the same intensity.

"Has that done anything new?" you asked as you started to take the explosives out of your backpack.
"Nothing I can understand. It just eats bits of itself, why is it not dead yet?"
You knew the answer, Cedalion kept it alive.
Although you didn't know if he was keeping it asleep or it was a side effect of not having to move to eat.

Do you guys think we should try and ambush and knock out a chimera like last time to get more abberance? What we can do is leave the dynamite here, sneak up on a lesser chimera, knock it out, and silently kill it so we can have additional casts of viscous weapon.

>>

Agreed. He is our charge. We can't risk his death to fuel a bomb. Now, if we have several days to feed him, that's great... But can we even guarantee we'll find him a food-source in that time? We are in foul lands.
>>
>>5333305
>>5333307
What are you two talking about? Potato will be fine, and we only need 20 abberance. Between us, the Choosen One, Potato if we fill him with Abberance, and our two soul batteries if we fill them up, we'll have more than enough abberance for 5 casts of vicious weapon.
Plus are you both forgetting that Potato can survive 4 days without abberance? Which is plenty of time to gather more for him? You're being needlessly cautious here. You do want to make absolutely sure we kill the giant flesh hills right?
>>

>>
>>5333404
So. We do make 5 castings of Vicious weapon, and then we feed potato later by killing something. That right? Failing to catch anything all we need to do is feed him 1 abberance the next day.
>>
>>5333348
Bruh for that much aberrance we could use spatial torsion and (possibly) disintegrate the entire stadium.
I don't think vicious weapon is worth it in this case since it costs a lot of aberrance for the average damage of 1 dynamite stick, so unless the titan's flesh is actually blastproof steel, it's not going to do much.
Also, where are we supposed to get that much aberrance from? Vermin gives decimal amounts of aberrance, and I don't think going rambo on a bunch of chimeras is very practical.
>>
>>5333474
If I'm gonna be honest, we probably won't need to cast anything considering we already have 43d10 from gunpowder and dynamite. Spatial Torsion could get us an additional 80 damage and its pretty efficient but we already have around 265 on average which should be enough to kill it or at least severely damage it
>>
>>5333474
every creature in a small radius. The stadium is not small, there would still be a big chunk of this thing left. Killing chimeras is risky buisness.

Do you have a better solution on how to kill this thing, the big flesh creature?
>>
>>5333553
Its 2d10 per stick of dynamite and we have 19 sticks. That's. 38d10. We have 5 bags of gunpowder, which is 5d10. 43d10. Yep that checks out.

Remember that spatial torsion only affects a small area, not the whole stadium, so it would still very much alive.

If we can tie all out explosives together and cast vicious weapon on the whole thing, 43d10 should be able to bypass damage resistance and armor, plus tracking on 7 more damage.

>>5333156
Football stadium and sports stadiums in general usually has ziplines where cameras can zoom around on. Are there ziplines here? I propose having the big bundle of explosives slide to the middle of the stadium with a long fuse. Two of us will be positioned on each end of the rope to cut it simultaneously to ensure it lands and blows up in the middle.

Is that a good plan?

You began to prepare the explosive in silence.
You used everything you had and still doubted if it was going to be enough.
The titan was seen as an immovable obstacle.
And you knew there would only be one chance.

While the monster slept peacefully, you prepared the fuse.
You didn't know how long it would take to be over but you would have enough time to walk away.
The only sound as you worked was the moans of the sentient bits of the titan trying to escape from the body they belonged to.
The sky was pale gray when you finished your task.

You called Ghal and Rakta to help you position the bomb in the center of the meat field.
You lit the fuse and started counting, you had about 15 min.
Taking advantage of some hooks for cameras and your climbing equipment, you moved the load without having to enter a pit.
Segments of the creature saw you, and tried to stop your plan.
They threw their hands and claws into the air, scratching at the ball of explosives.
But they did not arrive.
Once you positioned it more or less in the center, you left it hanging there.

You ran out of the stadium, and continued a couple more blocks.
Taking refuge in an abandoned building from where you could still see the prison of the titan.
You held your breath in anticipation.
The seconds seemed eternal, and each passing minute made you wonder if the claws of the beast had managed to put out the fuse.
would you come back?
would you try it again?
>>
And then a rumble came over and left you deaf.
The painful ringing in your ears was accompanied by a cloud of dust that blinded you.
The ground shook with the explosion and the building began to creak, threatening to collapse.
It didn't, and after a minute of lying on the floor your hearing returned.
Rakta is still recovering and Ghal was peering into what was left of the stadium.
The sky was dark, dressed with a thick cloak of dust and smoke.

So we roll damage:
19 * 2d10 + 5 * 1d10 = 43d10 = 251 rolled
+ damage per attack from Monster killer (Cursed) = +24
TOTAL: 275

Resistance of the Titan:
7 per attack so 7* 24 =168
HP: 70

The stadium was nothing more than a pile of rubble with a reddish cloud hanging over it.
Pieces of the titan had been thrown into the air, and now the streets were wet with blood.
The structure and all the chimeras within it, crushed.
Only ruins where you saw no signs that the titan had survived, he was dead.
More or less, some of the larger flesh chunks were still moving.
Growing arms and faces.
Rot eaters were escaping from the corpse's remains.

You retreated into somewhere more hiding from sight.
"Why did you say you needed my help for this?" Rakta asked "You didn't need it."
"I didn't know what we were going to face."
"And now what? Do we part ways?"
"Do you have a plan to get back?" you were curious, you didn't know how she got here.
"Going south till I reach Hejil, then aim for a fortress monastery nearby."
"Put off the decision until we're sure we're done here. Then we'll see if it's better for you to come with our expedition."

Oh yeah I forgot we are absolutely OP
definitely making a lower cost AOE spell soon
>>
>>5334922
Why stop there? We should make that spriggad polearm with in build soul batteries.
>>
>>5335049
Unless we are confronting giants anytime soon, the last thing we need is a melee weapon that does more damage.
A 200lb megadeath warbow would be nice though.
>>
>>5335054
And we only have a finite amount of abberance. A soul draining weapon would synergize well with abberance AoE hungry spells you know?
>>
>>5335069
Well ok, but I think it would be way easier to just slap some plant matter on our polearm than to make another one.
Also wouldn't it consume aberrance for existing?
>>
>>5335054
We already have one
>>5335069
Abberance is our big problem so anything to help us produce more is good. I want to create lightning strikes that knock out groups of enemies.
>>
>>5335127
>We already have one
You mean force arrow? It would be pretty good if it didn't eat magic. Real bows don't.
Also I'm saying this because facing the enemy up close is very risky and probably not worth it on the long run.
It's also way easier to just snipe the enemy from afar and suck its soul while it's dying, and bows don't use non-reusable, hard to get ammo, even if they can't pierce full plate armor.
>>
>>5335134
Sorry I meant to say we already have a giant-killing polearm
I also support getting some type of ranged weapon, maybe make ourselves General Radahns bow and start obliterating people from out of eyesight
>>
>>5335085
Literally the point I was trying to make. FFS anon. At least we're now on the same page.

>>5335127
Until we find a good AoE spell, for now I think a good economic use of aberrance would the flash bang spell. It has a relatively low Abberance cost, couple that with some glare proof goggles for our party and we can kill a good few number of enemies in a single turn with our allies.

>>5335134
>>5335189
Hear me out.
Go get a gun. Just a pistol. Why spend precious seconds to swap between our Giant killer polearm and an oversized bow, when we can just release one hand on the polearm, and retrieve a colt 11 with the other?
OH! Remeber the cache? We can go get that later.
>>
>>5335235
you have a good point anon but the counterpoint
the Radahn bow and the giant slaying polearm are cool
>>
>>5335271
The bow is genuinely retarded for three reasons.
We cant sneak with that because it's as big as we are.
You can't turn and fire at a second or third target due to how big and cumbersome it is.
You gotta carry a shit ton of big heavy arrows.
>>
>>5335294
Still cool tho
>>
>>5335305
Know what else is cool? Not dying.
BTW the great bow is gay as fuckm his dual stagger great swords are KING!

>>
Rolled 3 + 4 (1d8 + 4)

>>

Actually, It's not that hard to make a really strong bow that isn't huge, look at mongolian composite or modern compound bows.
Guns are obviously better, but they are very rare, alongside gun ammo. We can't just fill every thing we see with lead unless we somehow manage to find a functioning gun and several boxes of ammo.

You took out your polearm and giving a couple of signals to follow you and begin eliminating the rot eaters.
It was not necessary, and it would not bring you any benefit.
But letting them loose around the city was not an attractive idea.
So by throwing stones at the ones you wanted to fight, you separated them into more manageable groups.

Roll: 17 + 7 +2 -3 + 3(Ghal) +9(Rakta)= 35 ; DC: 19 +10= 29 Result: Hit
Damage 7; enough to kill 1
Roll:13 + 7 +2 -3 + 3(Ghal) +9(Rakta)= 31; DC: 20 + 5 = 25 Result: Hit
Enough damage

It was difficult to deal with them.
They charged at you and you only managed to keep them at bay with a lot of strength and a bit little luck.
Ghal was very weak physically so he just served as a distraction most of the time.
Rakta proved to be more capable, immobilizing them and leaving openings for you to attack.
And yet, with a good coordination and plan, you were all exhausted at the end.

You sat on a rock and looked at the small field of corpses, surprisingly, you could only smell the gunpowder from the explosion.
Neither the guts nor blood.
Everything that had existed of the titan would soon be nothing more than a memory.
Rakta approached you while you pondered this.
"You asked me what my plan was after this, but what is yours?"
"I don't know, go back to a city and learn new spells for the next expedition. Why the interest?"
"The titan was killed by explosives, but these rot eaters have been the work of the three of us. The…" she stopped speaking, looking at Ghal.
"Ghal, miss." He said, trying and failing to refill the aberrance batteries with the rot eaters.
The cursed creatures were barely alive enough to accumulate aberrance
(Batteries gain 2 Aberrance)

"Ghal has no chance joining the inquisitorial force unless it’s a bureaucratic role. You might be able, if you prove you are an elf first.
I can begin your initiation into the rituals of our fallen star if you haven't yet."
You looked at her with a blank face, accepting the fact that she was trying to induct you into her organization, a person she had tried to kill.
And who had almost killed her.

Thankfully before the situation escalated, Ghal interrupted both of you with bad news.
"Chimeras incoming! Hide."
The sound of heavy vehicles resonated in the distance.
So you hid far away from the mess.

Soon a tank and an armored car arrived.
You didn't know chimeras had tanks.
Four chimeras stepped down and approached the pile of rubble that used to be the stadium.
You recognized the spider looking one, Cedalion was here.
While the soldiers secured the perimeter, he stood on what used to be the stadiums wall.
Contemplating the blasted hole that had contained his hope of reviving the human race.

"We can't take them on like this, we must retreat." Rakta though out loud.
"I agree with you miss, let’s begin retreating to the expeditions encampment. ehm...
Sir, why don't you stay here making sure they don't follow us while we clear the path."
Ghal looked at you and tried to wink.
He just closed both his eyes.

What will you do?

>"Good plan, Ghal" (You stay alone here, and then what?)

“Good plan, Ghal”
With that he began to sneak away, gesturing to Rakta to follow.
“I don’t like the idea, so be careful.” She said before leaving.
Letting you sit alone, about to do something stupid that needs to be done.

You stood up and walked towards the convoy.
You took of the gas mask and dropped the disguise.
Allowing yourself to be truly seen for the first time in what felt a lifetime.
The soldiers saw you, repeated their premade lines about humans, and did nothing.
Their minds too small to deviate from orders, their obedience programmed.

You arrive at the fringe of the destruction you brought.
Pieces of the wall still tall enough to remind you of the beast they contained.
And next to them was the colonel.
Looking placidly at the piles of burned meat and broken bones that decorated the crater.
The ominous dew that marked a grave of countless victims.

He slowly turned his head when you approach.
He called a chimera to step closer and wiped an order before sending it away.
then he turned back to contemplate what he needed to do next.
"You have won. Any hope I had of making thing right has gone up in a cloud of smoke and gore."
"That was not human in any way and was a threat to civilization."
"So are chimeras. I kept it alive for 286 years, 9 months and 12 days, and thanks to him my war had a purpose.
My options now are to terminate or feed Captain Charon's experiments and wait for results that will never come."

"Thats...drastic. I thought you were going to try to capture me."
"It’s still a directive but i can’t protect you, so i can ignore it. I could not protect humanity then, i could not protect what i used to hope would be humanity now.
You are at greater risk here, especially since your "friends" might be bombing our other facilities."
He said this very calmly, the same way you would talk about the weather.
His electronic voice hiding all the thoughts swirling in his mind.

"What are you planning?"
"We are going to fill this city with acid mist to help kill all intruders. Don't worry, humans are immune to the worse effects, at worse you will get dizzy."
"When?"
"Depends on traffic." he chuckled at his own joke.

"About the situation with the water, you never explained how to fix it but what about an underground source?"
"The problem arises from a machine in Frathe Fort, approximately 400km southeast of our position.
Your plan will probably work, but we'd need excavation equipment from the Hephaestus mine.
They will be in the lowest levels, under vermin control, difficult to recover but possible.
The problem is leaving us exposed to attacks like the one we are suffering right now."

>[Anything else you want to talk about?]

"Before you go, my soldiers have the order to kill on sight. If they can't tell you are human, you could be shot."
You looked at him with disbelief.
"That changes nothing, they already attacked on sight."
"True, I'm just holding you here while the Captains are informed they can go all out on the intruders, since you are not at risk."
As if on cue, a small explosion could be heard in the distance.

>Try to find one of the groups (A)
Teams B and C had scouted areas of the city that you didn't see as immediately dangerous to them.
But the A team had been to the area that you suspected was the most industrial.
The deepest and most dangerous zone in this war machine.
If anyone was in trouble it was them.

Without saying goodbye to Cedalion you started running in the general direction you knew they were in.
Letting you be guided by the pillars of smoke and the sounds of explosions.
While avoiding obstacles, you realized that you did not have a plan.
Would you get there and try to make sure no one died?
It was almost certain that they had sent the group to destroy the facilities.
Could you save them if you insisted on leaving the city intact.

You've been running for several minutes, you've been through too much.
And you only stopped twice.
When the artillery began to sound and you saw the gas shells soar through the sky.
Comets with yellow tails, aimed to kill.
The second time was when you arrived at the assembly area.
After passing dozens of identical industrial ships, you found the only one under siege.

[Damage dealt by acid mist 1 per 20 seconds; Nullified by "Demonic" Vigor trait and Gas mask]

Surrounded by the yellow acid mist that descended from the sky.
A brick building with chimneys and wide steel doors was besieged by a small army of Chimera, using destroyed vehicles and surrounding buildings as cover.
How the team had managed to secure their position so well became obvious when a group of androids charged into the building
and it were destroyed by explosive bolts emerging from the factory's narrow windows.

You haven't been discovered yet
So you had time to see the terrain.
The factory was wide, it had probably been used in the past to make vehicles
A detail discerned by the adds that remained plastered to the building.
It had buildings of a similar size surrounding it.
Used by chimeras as shelters from enemy fire.
The chimeras seemed to have no intention of entering the building.
They made some potshots from time to time, but they were not risking it.
There was a chimera that caught your attention among the group.
Not only was it unarmed, it was giving orders very professionally.

Seeing the path to reach the group, they were all bad.
You could make a run for it, try the sewer or try to jump through a roof.
All difficult, but the real problem was getting people out of here.
How were they going to cross the acid mist?
The chimeras seemed comfortable in it.

>Try to speak to the chimera captain
>"If you don't shoot at them we will keep them from blowing up this place."
(Note: I just realized that the gunpowder from the explosives and the acid mist could produce nitroglycerin.
BE CAREFUL)

You were thinking about the situation, and you concluded that it was best to start by talking to the captain.
Getting into the factory was important but if you didn't have a clear escape route you could end up dead.
So preventing the chimeras from attacking you would be important.
How would you explain to the expedition being able to negotiate with the enemy?
Problems for the future, now you were trying to save their lives.

Using the tiniest bit of aberration left in the batteries you created an illusion whereby you could talk to the chimeras from a safe distance.
Even if Cedalion had said that he would not pursue you, you couldn't be sure what the others would say.
Potato helped you make the best of it, even though you were using the bare minimum.

[1 Aberrance spend, 1 remains in batteries]
The illusion was bad, translucent and vaguely with your face.
But he could talk just fine and you just had to pay close attention to know what the chimera was saying.
Putting yourself in a better position, you put your plan into motion.

As the illusion approached the chimeras it was greeted by a few loose shots.
But when it became clear that this did not work, they began to inspect the illusion.
This got the attention of their leader, who ordered them to return to his position.
And the ball of bone plates with animal skull approached.
His legs were as armored as his torso but his arms were bare.
he had a raspy but distinctively organic voice, not like the troops he led.

"I don't know what you are but stop distracting my boys. We haven't had a party like this in decades."
"I'm the human." You said calmly.
"Oh? Colonel Cedalion mentioned that you were hanging around. I'm Captain Rigek, I understand that a human does not want to face me, that’s what chimeras are for!"
He started to laugh at his joke while you were confused by the contrast he had with Cedalion.
"Anyway, what do you need?"

"I want to negotiate a ceasefire, let me get in there and I'll convince the group to leave the machinery intact. Then you let them go and the factory won't be damaged."

The captain looked at you while you explained the offer and began to giggle.
"Look kid, that's a very nice thing you are trying to do.
But I don't care, the mist is starting to leak in.
They will not blow up the building while they are inside
and we are giving a weak appearance so they believe they can make a run for it.”
He stopped talking to look at the factory.
He could not physically smile so he kept a neutral face.

“When they try, we kill them and deactivate the explosive.
If we negotiate they could try to backstab us.
And I was made for this, so i'm having a blast."

I'd rather not kill anyone if we had to. Maybe theres something inside we could use to help plan the escape.
Also use the clone to explain that the expedition people are using gunpowder, when mixed with the acid mist makes nitroglycerin. Its VERY volatile so lone little accident, like this fire fight, might blow everything up. Also we're going inside.

The options in front of you were not good.
You knew you weren't going to be able to save everyone.
But you had to try anyway.

You asked the captain if you could meet him when he was less occupied and he accepted.
"I'm sure we could find some old wine bottles in the office from the general. She is dead so no one will miss them."
You weren't sure if going out for drinks Rigek was a good idea but you thought to mention something about explosives.
"Also expedition people are using gunpowder, when mixed with the acid mist makes nitroglycerin.
Its VERY volatile so lone little accident, like this fire fight, might blow everything up."

The captain reflected on what you had said.
"Do you know how much they have?"
"Did you hear the explosion before the mist fell?"
"Fuck. Good info, I need time to think. Ambush them further away then?"
He turned to his soldiers and gave an order to cease fire.
The shooting stopped for a while as he ruminated on new plans to kill the team.

In that window of opportunity you started looking for an access to the factory through the sewers.
An industrial zone would have good access points, right?

[Metro maintenance tunnels discovered]

Good fortune smiled on you and you found something better.
Old tunnels of some subway system that were still standing.
You lifted the lid of rust that sealed it and entered.
Then you closed behind you so they couldn't follow you.
[You don't have a light source. Not even a spell.]

You moved through the darkness for quite some time, letting yourself be guided by the sounds of the surface and avoiding the flooded areas with the smell of blood.
You were not alone here; you could hear the sound of small vermin moving away when you moved.
With a stroke of luck, you heard the voice of the members of the expedition arguing.
And you crawled through some narrow gaps.
When you finally saw the light, but there were some thick bars preventing your passage.

>Try to convince them not to prepare the explosives (how?)
Explain we dabbled in alchemy and chemicals once and nearly blew our face off. We noticed how the most has been corroding flesh and weak stone, making it acid.
Acid when mixed with gunpowder causes a massive explosion. That would normally be good, but it's not for three reasons:
1) the explosion radius would be very big. Big enough where if we made the fuse long enough for us to escape its blast radius it might be enough time for the chimeras to enter and diffuse it.
2) acid and gunpowder is a very volatile mix, you might not even need a fire to accidentally serve it off. The longer we stay in the acid with the gunpowder, the more we risk a misfire.
3) even if we take the sewer escape, the explosion from the gunpowder and acid mix would cause a massive vacuum in pressure between the cool damn sewers and the hot explosion above. Pretty much the explosion would force fire and acid down into the sewers, making it very unsafe for us to traverse if we're not instantly incinerated in the fiery explosion. This is complete bullshit I dont know jack shit about thermodynamics, but I bet if we sound smart enough, no one would really care or know we're lying. Especially since the elves are just archeologists, not scientists.

>explaination and actions to hopefully reduce suspicion
Voting for repairing and taking the mech suit. Ham it up and look like an idiot. Pretend to randomly press some buttons to really ham it up.
Give the mercenary leader the gas mask. Say we found it in some garbage, because that's probably where we found it. Hope that offsets a bit of the suspecion.
Say you think maybe the goddess Milagros (luck and music) must have blessed us at some point, because we just pressed some random buttons to get the damn thing to work. It explains how we're not dead yet.

Then you started messing around with the power armor.
The slimy interior was hard to fathom, wires dipping into bits of synthetic meat and little circuits protecting fake organs.
"John, what are you doing? We have to leave now." Nhave told you while one of the mercenaries enters the tunnel to secure it.
You added the fuel and the machine started working.
The motors screeched and the artificial veins began to spread life throughout the mechanism.
the organs began to function and the lights came on.
The elves, who would have been very excited to find another working piece of demon-tech.

And now for the hard part, convincing Nhave not to use the explosives.

When you began to explain the problem with his plan, he told you it was the mission and that it would serve to cover your departure.
It was then that you explained to her the problem with the spread of fire and the dangers of using such a volatile mixture.
You didn't know exactly what you were saying but you kept your tone of voice austere and direct.
Implying that these events were not possibilities, but events that would occur.
With the exception of two elves and Nhave, the rest had already entered the tunnel.
The two elves couldn't contradict you since it wasn't their area of work.

"Okay, what you say sounds reasonable. But the explosives stay here, I'm not going to load something so volatile.
And if the bosses ask, we lit the fuse and something went wrong, they don't pay us to back down on such an important mission. "
With those words she gave the order to leave and the factory was finished emptying.
Somehow you had managed, maybe you could save them all.

You also offered Nhave your gas mask, she hesitated a bit before trying to put it on.
She looked ridiculous but you didn’t dare to giggle on her face.

[Your explanation is almost correct, combustion explosions do not generate vacuum but the expansion of gas.
But they don't know that and the rest of the arguments are correct, including the predictions on what would happen. So i will grant you the win.]

>The escape
You were at the rear of the group, so you had the advantage of a path cleared by your teammates.
In the end you could see the vermin that you had heard before, some spiders covered in something similar to silk.
You recognized them from the market in the city of Dico, they were served as food in some stalls.
Why did they have to be spiders? Didn’t they have rats?
You would prefer rats to spiders the size of your thumb.

Returning your thoughts to the group, they were guided by air currents, something you didn't notice.
So you trusted them and blindly followed the group.
There were no stops for quite a while, which boosted morale.
You had found access to the underground train tracks so you just had to walk to a station and check if it was safe to get out.
The chimeras had been left behind, the only thing that was constant was the smell of blood.
>>
When you arrived at the first station the stench of blood had become very strong.
You were approaching its origin through the tunnels.
And this made a lot of people nervous.
The station where you had stopped was on the outskirts of the city, the streets still had acid fog but it was feasible to run between buildings to the edge of the gas.
Some wanted to risk it, others proposed to go back the way you had come and find another path.
And the mercenaries insisted on continuing, looking at the station map there were only 2 left until the end.
And you knew that the tracks continued much further than just the city limit.
You had seen it when you arrived.

>Go foward
There was a heated debate about what should be done.
Everyone was somewhat scared, the prospect of something prowling the tunnels against the fading hope that you could escape through the surface.
It was bad situation.
The idea of returning had been ruled out when a small earthquake shook the earth.
The explosives of other teams had been detonated, or at least you thought that was it
there was no way to check it.

Finally the decision to move forward was made.
They put you in the lead because you were inside a metal can.
At your sides the mercenaries and further behind the elves.
You hadn't had a choice in this, but you weren't going to argue with them either.

Thanks to the armor's filter, you didn't have to put up with the worst of the smell.
According to the companions, it smelled of vinegar, blood and rotting meat.
You were walking along the tracks in a state of semi-darkness, only carrying three lighted lanterns in total.
The number of insects became more frequent as you progressed.
And finally you arrived at the origin.

It was a very open subway station with cranes and ramps for vehicles.
These tunnels and some of the expansions seemed excavated compared to the previous ones.
You suspected they were modifications created after the construction of the place.
There were several wagons, all of them dripping with blood.
The sound of something moving through the station caused a bit of panic.
The lanterns went out and you waited at the edge of darkness.

A creature the size of a car came out of one of those tunnels.
It had humanoid parts, but was armored like a beetle with a centipede tail.
No doubt some kind of animalistic chimera.
He crawled to one of the cars and opened it.
I pull out a couple of tyr and animal corpses.
and took them to the upper floor after shredding them right there.
Seems pretty unhygienic.
Nhave gave the order to keep you hidden, still had to decide what to do.

after a few minutes of waiting, it came back and did the same.
I had a routine, somewhat unstable but the pattern was visible.

The metal prosthetics fell to the ground as its arms regenerated, eyes sprouting around its body.
You remembered that Cedalion had mentioned this event.
How he had lost patrols to the goddess and how he had sacrificed them.

What snapped you out of your trance was Nhave, putting her hand on your shoulder.
"What the hell are you still doing here? No one gets left behind. If you don't start running right now I'll be the one to kill you."

What will you do?

That is very suspicious, so no.

Try to talk to the creature? It is Gaia in some form or another.
Ask gaia what she wants exactly, what she's going to do when she's freed, and why she's so mysterious about it. We aren't doing a god's bidding unless we have a damn good reason to.
Also the pillars on the crater are probably what keeps her asleep, but I'm not sure whether awakening her would be a good idea.

Try to communicate with the goddess? So what's she gonna do with the construct? Will it last?

Can we loot the prosthetics that fell off of it? Maybe we could install it into the power armor, or sell it if its useless.

>"It has seen us, I will distract it"

You turned to Nhave and gave a simple explanation
"It has seen us, I will distract it"
She stood still and looked back at the chimera.
It had already stopped convulsing and was staring as it approached.
"You are not authorized to die,John, run as soon as you get a chance." he said to her before leaving.

The abomination stood in front of you, still.
You tried to send some short-frequency radio message to see if it caught it.
"Gaia?" you whispered
"I live here, as a distant window but it's good enough." answered a suspiciously generic voice.
It was the voice you expected it to have.

You had several questions, but the first was the most important.
"What do you want and what plans do you have when you become free?"
“Is my yearning to awaken a fact that demands justification? I reject the task to only witness, I wish to create.”
She responded quickly, so you went to the next question.
"So why be so mysterious about it? Why not tell me directly?"
“Your concern makes you seek answers, and it forces change into this stagnant world. Look around you, you killed Limos, the eternal titan.
You sowed division in the church of my eldest son and forced one of my favored creations out of hiding.
You did stop the fanatics from accidentally freeing one of my tendrils, but I'm eternal. I won't resent you for a delay of a year or two."

You weren't sure how to feel about this.
"I'm not doing your bidding unless I have a good reason to."
“You dont need to, I will clear the mines for Cedalion so the Empire unites against his recovery from him.
and you will intervene and create an imbalance in power that I can exploit.”

She was being suspiciously direct, did she expect you to follow the plan or try to rebel?
"So you'll use that chimera to clear the mines? How long will that body last?"
“No, I will use it to take over the feral tribe in the Hephaestus mine, this vessel will last me… maybe 4 suns, depends on when I discard it. Its a limited tool.”
"Damn, I was hoping I could reprogram it. Its a cool robot."
"Don't worry, I'll release them near you when I'm done."
"Them?"
"Anyway, I have to steal a train, so that will draw enough attention so your friends have time to escape. You should hurry up to your expedition, they are preparing to leave. Don't touch my sons sword, and when you see Milagros tell her “your mother still loves you”.

>Stay here to help Rigek (Add 1d20 Bo3)

The butcher was starting to walk away when you sprinted to reach her, you had noticed a trap in what she had said.
"Wait what? Come back here! Do you mean the robot or the tribe? You can’t mean the chimera butcher thing since you said it will only last 4 days."
"You are fast, it will be both. In 4 days I will attack the expedition with the ferals, don't worry; they should survive if they use the remaining gunpowder.
I don't want them to block the mountain pass."

"Why do you have to be shady with me? Can't you tell me directly?"
"Because you're human, your insatiable desire to control the world around you blinds you to what it needs. The trees don't let you see the forest...
that's the proverb isn't it?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Because I don't remember." she said turning her expressionless head in your direction.
You didn't know what emotion he was hiding.

You walked beside her when you went up the stairs.
Entering an industrial warehouse full of metallic vats.
"One question, do you have aberrance to share? I'm-"
"No, all I can give are whispers of an inaccurate omnipresence."
"How can it be inaccurate?"
She didn't bother to answer
Although a warning from Potato asked you to let him absorb the aberrace from the dead.
You allowed it because it didn't take long and you needed the aberration.
[Potato has 9 aberrance][I'm counting the crystalline injection from before]

You went back to the wagon and let the possessed chimera get ahead of you.
So you took the opportunity to use the radio.
Not knowing if this was part of her plan or not, you contacted Rigek on the radio.
It took you a while to find the military frequency and you started talking on it until he showed up.
"How did a fragment get there? It doesn't matter, there's a patrol always watching that area. Wait for Charon, I'll send him immediately. Don’t take risks!"

Leaving the labyrinthine corridors of the factory dedicated to producing military rations, you came across a scene from a western.
The guards had waited at the exit and were surrounding the possessed.
Repeating pre-recorded messages.
"Stop! You are arrested for the crime: DESERCION./ submit to this: GUARD POST. And await processing by the: MILITARY COURT."

chimeras, Separated into 2 groups.
Rolls : 11 + 11 DC 19 +10 Result: Failure ( 6 damage taken)
Rolls 6 +11 DC 18 +10 Result: Failure (6 damage taken)

The butcher dove for cover, a hail of projectiles flying in its direction.
The gigantic creature quickly began to advance and close the distance.
The veteran chimeras saw this and began to back away while the new ones closed in, increasing pressure.
Finally the butcher came out of hiding and slaughtered the soldiers it could reach.
two died instantly.
the third, who was caught, decided to secure some damage.
>>
>Self-destruct; Deal 1d6 Acid damage to creature in short range. This creature dies.
Damage 4 - 2 (resistances and armor) = 2

The soldier exploded in a ball of acid.
The butcher covered up, receiving burns on its arms.
Not too much, but enough.
The other Chimeras repositioned themselves to continue the attack.
So it was your turn

Player Roll
Roll: 17 + 7(strength) + 2(Skill) - 3 (weapon) + 6 (Power armor)= 29 DC: 17 +10 = 27 Result: 6 + 3 damage.

You charged at the chimera, polearm over your head and hit.
The abomination stopped it and it became a contest of strength for control of the weapon.
A flick of the wrist and a kick was enough to stop the creature.
Your power armor giving you enough advantage to severely damage your enemy.

"I thought I would win." you heard Gaia say with some regret.
The butcher began to leak the same orange gas as before.
The eyes and marks on its body began to disappear.
You understood that Gaia was escaping from that vessel.

What will you do?
>Return to camp, not much to do here.

You approached the butcher while it still contained the goddess shard.
"Sorry, but you're being really shady. This whole scenario reminds me of horror stories about eldritch entities awakening."
"I forgive you, it is your nature and I love all my creations."
Those were the last words before the orange cloud finished escaping and slowly fled into the sky.
All in the hope of not being found by Charon.
You wondered how much damage she could do in that form.
You'd have to find a way to catch that shard again.

Approaching the dead butcher, you searched for something that might be of use.
Its guts might have been interesting if you had Emilia here to prepare them.
But without a person who knew what to sell and the little training you had, you got something that would at least sell for a decent price.

>Chittin shield (In order to hit you, your opponent must surpass your roll by more than 2)(reduce elemental damage by 1)(1 hand)
>Chimera butcher's head (No use but can be sold for a good price.)

With that out of the way, you went back down to the platform and helped Potato refill the batteries.
"I got questions, Are you sad for them?" the infant spriggan asked.
"For the dead?" You asked back.
"Yes, you ordered no killing to eat because its bad, but these are dead. Is it different if we didn't kill?"
>How are you going to explain this to Potato?
>This has no mechanical consequences, just a change on how i write him.

After answering him, you helped him with his work, and finished learning the tricks he used to consume aberration.
>Skill learning 2/2; Soul scrapping (Apprentice): Can absorb its [aberrance-1] from a corpse.
>You can consume more aberrance than your max (7/2) but it will be lost in a long rest

With this you started to return to the camp through the tunnels.
Not without first using the radio for the last time and request the captains not kill the expedition team please and thank you.
Rigek laughed and explained that they had stolen several important machines so they had to chase them down until they got them back and killed almost everyone.
As a lesson, he explained.

The sun was still up and the acid fog had settled on the city.
You had already left it and saw the first signs of camp.
The tents had been packed up and preparations were being made to leave.
One of the teams was still expected to arrive.
And you arrived just in the servo armor.
The first reaction was fear, thinking that the chimeras had discovered them.

When Nhave came over to say hello and ask what had happened the situation calmed down.
Although most were still watching you with some fear.
The next to approach was Ghal.
Between the two of them, they explained to you that Rakta is having a serious conversation with the leaders of the expedition.
Something about heresy and how they shouldn't have brought anyone here.

Inside a sarcophagus of transparent material was a two meter long sword.
They arrived proclaiming that they had found the Demon lord's sword.
so Rakta soon ignored the three elves and went out to check if they were telling the truth.
You wouldn't be able to tell the difference, so you did just like the chubby elf.
You left before the bosses came out and saw you.

> offer to buy everyone a round on us/ Chat with Emilia (-2 group suspicion)( 15 Coins spent)

With all the distractions going on, you passed an extra to the mercenary guarding the supplies.
That was enough for half a barrel to go missing.
You approached the group that was resting and began to distribute it.
They were still a little scared of you, but seeing you drink with them made them worry less.
They were already quite tense about other things.

At that time you took the opportunity to ask Emilia how things had been around here.
"well, there was an unplanned explosion and the bosses freaked out when they saw that a box of dynamite was missing.
After a while the armored nun appeared along with Ghal, so they blamed her for that.
Then the groups began to arrive and stored all the loot in metal boxes.
With exceptions.
The rest has been supremely boring, in my opinion the rescue team was here so that if something went wrong the bosses could flee."

"And how about Flora, what has she done?"
"Do you remember how she had been flirting with everyone?"
"Vaguely, Hildra mentioned it."
"Well, she now has an entourage of simps. It's four guys and I'd tell you she gives them blowjobs but I've never seen her touch them.
I don't know if they have to make me feel sorry or disgusted, what do you think, charmer? "

Before you answered, there was a silence in the camp.
You looked up to see David running through it.
He was mutilated and transformed into a cybernetic abomination.
And yelling how he was going to kill the Demon lord, so at least he was still the same.
Two “scientist” were running after him, pleading that he stopped or he would pop the stiches.

You know that after her brother Qothos died, she disappeared.
The why is not known.

Appearance, personality, powers, past.

This is the only one i will tweak.
It can be resolved by saying she didn't participate in the Great war.
Many interesting implications

Why Milagros didnt participate in the war:
>Bro I'm telling you them humans up to something fucky.

>what is that in the distance? Is that a....mushroom? AH FUCK IM BLIND!
>oh shit bro and humans did a double kill. Ain't I'm fucking outta here, see ya chuckle fuck later!

I'd image Milagros to be a not so serious god. If she were a human and DnD, I'd think her a low INT VERY HIGH wisdom character with good gut feeling intuition. She probably likes to gives mortals boons and banes whenever it suits her fancy (+1 or -1 dice for rolling 20's. That or bonus/malus modifiers to dice rolls. SHE IS THE RNG! PRAISE BE THE GODDESS OF CHANCE!)
She probably has a separate sect of worshippers that probably worships her through gambling, for better and worse.

Got home, I'm writting.

Minor retcon:
Since we are shaping Milagros as a Laissez faire type of god, it would make no sense for her to have created the Geist.

>check on Flora ourselves, order her to tell us what she's been up to and what she's scheming

You said goodbye to Rakta and headed for your biggest headache.
Whatever Flora was doing.
You caught up to her with no problem, she was talking to the chubby elf from before.
She gave him a kiss on the cheek and sent him away when she saw you arrive.

Conveniently, the bosses gave the order to pack up and move.
Which is why you put her in the truck with you and Ghal.
When the expedition was in motion and after checking that you had no stowaways, you asked him.
You let Ghal drive, you were at low speed so nothing should happen.
You sat on some ledges that the truck had, right in front of the forest witch.
"What are you planning? Answer honestly and directly." you ordered her.
"I'm planning a way to force you to give me the order to kill."

"Explain." You asked a bit perplexed.
"I have implied to my small group of fans that you have something of mine that you won't give me.
They, loyal as dogs, will search through your things until they find our contract.
They will steal it and hide it.
Maybe they'll try to destroy it, maybe they'll try to modify it to own me.
I don't care, because someone will end up dead at my hands.
I haven't had this kind of fun in a long time. Do you like it?"
She asked blowing you a kiss and giggling.
She seemed excited by the prospect of killing again.

Well fuck, you thought to yourself.
>>
Road event [1/3?]
You were sitting quietly in the truck next to Ghal.
Flora was in the back chatting with Potato.
acting like a mother and asking him about his day.
The infant emotionally summed up inaccurately the events he had witnessed.
She was probably using him to keep an eye on you, but from how poorly she explained it, you weren't sure how effective it was.
While you mussed on the idea of reducing the contact they had, Ghal called you.

I point to the mirror and you saw what was bothering him.
Soon the voice of alarm sounded among the carriages and they accelerated.
Some of the caravans opened their backs and let crossbowmen and wizards take up position.

[Game of distortion: >>5338759]

A cloud of bat-like humanoid creatures were approaching you.
They were of clear to chimera origin and about the size of a dog.
but there could easily be fifty or sixty in the air.
Some more organic and others with cybernetic implants and antennas.
before entering your range they spread out and began to surround you in an overly organized manner.
There was a moment of tension in silence.
and ended with high-pitched shrieks coming from the robotically modified.
Very quickly on the group, they hit your truck too.
But thanks to strong glass and armored walls there was no damage.
although you heard how they were hooked to the sides and roof of the vehicle.
The others were not so lucky.
Acid spit and claw attacks added to the chaos.
they weren't too lethal, but hard to fight.

What will you do?

>The group will drive them away with explosives (The expedition runs out of explosives).

You weighed your options meticulously.
You had no area effect spells, so you could only attack one at a time.
You didn't have enough aberrance for that.
You also didn't have ranged weapons of any kind, and sticking the polearm out the window was a bad idea.
You looked at Flora to see if she could do something.
"I can make them fall, but it spreads radially. Everyone will know that the spell comes from this vehicle."
she said as she gazed out the window like a child at an aquarium.

That created a sure risk that even more attention would fall on you.
After a few seconds of indecision you were rescued by another plan.
From the supply wagon some dwarfs had cut the fuses of the dynamite sticks
So that when lit and thrown, they would explode in the air.

Many explosions later, assisted with spells and bolts from others.
Were enough to repel the attack.
You didn't manage to kill them all, but enough fell to force their retreat.
You had survived this encounter.

...

You have been on the move all day.
Just taking breaks so the beasts of burden could drink water.
all in a desperate effort to gain distance from the chimeras they were chasing to retrieve their treasures.

You had changed the seat with Ghal in one of the breaks to drive yourself.
Ghal sat quietly and waited, like a statue with open eyes.
Flora amused herself watching Lucy chase Potato through the truck.
she never got to hurt him but she did scare him.

It wasn't until the sun threatened to set, that the expedition stopped to rest.
And before the tents were pitched, the leaders of the expedition called you.
The bearded elf stood on a box and waited for people to come and hear him.

"Dear employees, we have suffered a mishap. In the assault of the flying chimeras we have used our entire reserve of explosives."
No one said anything, unsure why this was a problem.
"This means that we will not be able to block the passage through the mountains when we pass.
So our options are to cross it without blocking it, risking being followed and destroying the villages in that area.
Or we can take a longer road that is almost completely uninhabited.
You have a voting voice in this decision since we will all have to fulfill it together."

May the gods have mercy on your souls.

> order Flora to cut ties with her from her “Cult” (Free action)
The camp was already set up and everyone was resting.
Bonfires were beginning to be lit and the sun was setting on the horizon.
The cold wind from the mountains descended on you.
You decided that now would be the time for Flora to cut ties with her fan club.
She didn't seem too upset with the order, so you decided to follow her.

She gave them all the same canned shit.
A generic speech of it's not you, it's me, that she was using them to gain the attention of the one who possesses her heart and soul.
Maybe you should have specified how she had to do it.
The priest took it relatively well, telling her to follow the path of virtue and abandon the tools of sin.
The demon tech specialist was about to cry and left in silence, the priest followed him to cheer him up.

The one she had described as a womanizer was very offended that she had tried to use him.
He asked who the special man was, and when she said your name he was silent.
Then he called her a whore and left.

The last one, worried you, it hadn't moved or visibly reacted
The chubby elf grabbed her hand and gave her a speech.
"You can't leave me, I won't allow it! I'll do anything to be with you."
His voice broke before he could continue.
She had released his hand from his sweaty grip and walked away.
Hiding inside your truck and probably peeking out to see the drama this would cause.
He just stood there, staring at the truck with pure hate.

>Go talk with someone (Unsimping) (Free action)

You didn't want to be around that guy when he had a nervous breakdown.
So you walked away, walking over to Flora's entourage to assess the damage.
The priest was understanding, asking you to take her on the right path since he couldn't.
And he was making sure the young specialist didn't do something stupid.

The womanizer told you to fuck off when you tried to start a conversation with him.
You saw him walk away to try to flirt with the group of dwarven mercenaries.
It is possible that he gave you problems in the future, but more a nuisance than something dangerous.

To the last one, you decided not to approach for now.

>Meet some mercenaries, play cards maybe (you have 27 coins)(-1d2 to group suspicion) try to win some coin

Deciding to take some time off, you approached Emilia's group to play cards.
Limiting what you would spend, you separated 10 coins.
You were a bit surprised that the cards and game were identical to poker.
When you asked, they told you that it was one of the Milagros games.
Something by which she judged mortals.
They told you a couple of myths and you suspected that she was the goddess of luck because she knew how to cheat very well.

Keeping with the theme of the goddess, you decided to play the guitar.
You didn't know how to do it right, but at least it didn't sound terrible.
You played the notes slowly, trying to remember songs you had heard.
Some of the people in the camp perked up and sang something.
They weren't going with the music but you weren't going to argue with them.
The alcohol started to come out and the bosses decided to turn this into a celebration of having escaped the city.

You didn't recognize many of the songs,
Although a terrible reinterpretation of "Don’t stop me now" from Queen slipped in between them.
You asked Emilia about it.
Apparently Demon music, while frowned upon for obvious reasons, was not illegal.
During the little party you started hearing new rumors about yourself.
Some said that you were a lost lover of the goddess of luck.
Others that you were an inquisitor who had been excommunicated.
Rakta took note of all these theories.

>Road events [2/4]
The small celebration extended until well into the night.
It was a small moment of tranquility that was interrupted by the murderous look that the chubby elf gave you.

You had noticed it in the middle of a song and twenty minutes later, it was still doing it.
Sitting on a stone at the edge of the camp.
You couldn't see his hands and you had a hard time ignoring him.
Before you decided if it was a good idea to confront him, he disappeared.
He probably went into the dark.
This smelled like a trap, it wouldn't be hard to take down, but killing him would get you in trouble.
So you went on with your night without seeing him again.

An hour later you returned to your truck.
You didn't want to sleep in the open with that sociopath on the loose.
Next to the vehicle, Ghal and Flora were waiting for you.
"Sir, we have a problem. The troublesome witch fan was hanging around the truck. He hasn't come over because I'm guarding it. What are your orders.”
That has been fast.
You wondered if he came with the intention of killing you or Flora.
>>
She looked at you with a smile.
"I can get rid of him. You just have to give the order, I could even make myself a suit with his skin.
We pretend that he has killed "Flora", they have me prisoner, and I "escape".
And I hide here until you find another person who needs killing."

"How much of what's going on were you planning?"
She sighed.
"Nothing as good as this, I have never drunk from such an obsessive mind. What do you think his soul will taste like?"

You looked at the ground and were greeted by Lucy.
The orange cat, ignorant of your problems, meowed for food.
You decided to deal with this before the serious problem.
You got in the truck and you prepared her something.

>And was he spending all his time just staying by the truck? That can't be all too healthy. Would he like to use the Ark as entertainment?

You asked Ghal what he had been doing.
When he confessed to taking care of the horses and guarding the truck, you asked him why.
"Someone has to do it." was his reply.
You offered to lend him the Ark so he'd have something else to do if he didn't want to interact with the rest of the expedition.

At first he refused, arguing that it would distract him from his duty.
After some time of you convincing him and Flora calling him a coward, he said he would think about it.

> In the morning talk to him, so that he attacks you in public (He will be taken prisoner by the expedition)
>Ask someone for help (Hildra)

Killing him would have been an easy solution.
But then Flora would have won, and she probably would have done it again.
You gave precedent to this crazy plan working.
So you decided to do things the smart way.

When morning came, you were awakened by Ghal.
They had not yet given the order to pack up but everyone was waking up.
Leaving the truck, you headed towards the dwarfs' tents.
They were serving a soggy breakfast mash.
You located Hildra and asked her to help you with something you have to do.
You gave him a brief explanation of the situation.
"And wouldn't it be more discreet to beat him up? We could do it without leaving marks."
"I'm looking for something more permanent, stay in the area in case he gets out of hand."

Then it's your turn to locate the elf.
It wasn't difficult, he was harassing Flora while she was serving breakfast.
She seemed quite amused by his intimidation attempts.
You caught his attention and took him away from the group.
Far enough away that they wouldn't hear you speak softly, but they could see you.
Ghal and Hildra stayed away but prepared.
"And what the hell do you want?" He asked you.
Calmly you explained that he had to stop, that Flora was not going to be with someone like him.
You insulted him in various ways, but kept your voice low so no one could hear you.

The elf was red with anger, physically sweating from the effort.
At some point while you were talking he took out some metal pieces from his pocket.
Before you could finish he cut you off, yelling.
"She is mine!" and one of the runes on those metals lit up.

A ball of light hit your head
It felt like a strong punch, but he wasn't done.
He jumped on you and started hitting you.
He kept screaming that he would kill you, but the truth is that although his blows might have left bruises, they weren't very strong.
Not wanting to break the act, you didn't hit him back and let yourself be rescued.

Hildra and another elf that had seen him, intervened and dragged the boy away.
He spat out insults and threats far longer than you would have thought he could.
Even when they gagged him.
When the bosses asked what had happened there were enough witnesses to believe your story.
You also forced Flora to participate and tell white lies.

By the time the group had packed up to leave,
The elf was imprisoned.
He would not give you problems for the rest of the trip.

(You lose a bit of your legend reputation)
...

Hours later the expedition was on the move again.
The stalker had been tied up until the bosses decided what to do with him.
There were rumors that he was going to be abandoned in the first town you come across.
The bosses didn't deny it so they were thinking about it.

Other than that, the chimera bats were back.
But now they flew over your expedition, always out of range.

You enjoyed a leisurely drive while Ghal looked through the Ark's files.
It wasn't of his own volition, you gave him the order.
If not, he would have stood the whole way still as a statue.
and the truth is that it was creepy.

Flora kept trying to convince you that the chubby elf had to be killed.
Saying he'd come back for you, and it wasn't like he was going to be locked up forever either.
You had it in consideration, but you knew that she only wanted to get his absesive soul.

All this she left you with time to think until the next stop.

The pillars? Can't say I know why, it's been a while since the last thread and my notes have been together dust. What I do know for certain is that Gaia is funnily enough the moon, not the planet itself. I dont know if she is a sleep in the literal sense, but >>5344620 >>5345712
Says she doesnt remember some things, and she wants to awaken.

So looking back I thought that she influenced the world through those pillars, but I think I'm wrong about that.

Hmmm. Maybe a large or greater fragment of Gaia is lodged within the planet, and those pillars are put in places to ensure she slumbers, while her main body the moon remains dormant.

Ah fuck me, I'm getting some Dead Space Brother Moons vibes. If you dont know those are or cant be arsed to good check, they're pretty much traveling moon sized necromorphs. Yes, it's as bad as it sounds.

>>5353828
Something certainly will happen. I think Gaia likes to put on an air of mystic, but in reality she just likes to make life for the hell of it, be it malevolent or benevolent.
>>
>>5353756
To add onto the acupuncture idea, the moon is Gaia herself, humans literally went to the moon and physically surrounded her in a metric fuckton of interlinked magical pillars that serve as inhibitors which prevent her from waking up. Gaia is trying to wake up by using what little power she has to crash parts of herself into Earth and trick people into destroying the pillars.
As for why, I'd assume the External God was the one who had the idea in the first place to do so. I'd assume the myth about Gaia going asleep because she is grieving is bullshit and humanity was actively working to seal her off because of how dangerous she is.
I'd assume Gaia must exist or the world gets fucked considering she is an aspect of life itself which is why she was put to sleep via the pillars rather than actually killed. Her being the aspect of change also is probably why she was sealed off considering that she probably is actively working to keep the world in a state of chaos to prevent things from becoming too stagnant (which is why we are taken off the Martyrdom Route if we help her awaken since she is actively trying to keep the world fucked up).
I might be wrong though since I didn't really pay a lot of attention to the Gaia lore until now.

>>
>>5353874
Hold on. Just a thought. Didnt Gaia go to sleep before the humans came about? She fucked the human god, they had kids, then she took her super long nap. Some time during that the humans were spawned into the world. Maybe it was the Tyr empire that put those pillars there? I think the tyr empire or some faction within their governing body is wary of Gaia. I know one native faction besides the humans were wary of her.

>>5353770
Ain't that right OP?
>>
>>5353925
yeah, I forgot the timeline so it probably wasn't humans. The Tyr are a mortal race though (at least I'm pretty sure they didn't predate Gaia sleeping) so I'd assume it'd have to be either the external god, one of the three gods (don't think its likely though), the titans, or whatever the original demons (the ones before humans) were. I don't think we have much info at all on pre-mortal races but it'd have to be one of those even if we don't know which one.
>>
>>5353954
the more I think about it, I feel like it had to be the original demons considering the gods were fighting them immediately after Gaia starting sleeping. Perhaps they were the cause of it happening to Gaia then?

>If Gaia awakens the world ends
Define "End"
Ask the Giants, they were around when Gaia was up in buisness and they still endure.
Got hunted out of the continent by Tyr, but they live.

>>5353925
Yes, Gaia fell "asleep" way before the first human was summoned.
Mayor save in this game.

[Year – Event]
-The external god arrived to the world and fell in love with the goddess Gaia
- They had 3 children
- The external god died
-Gaia fell asleep
-The gods battled the “Will of the old world” and won
0-the 3 gods crafted the races that inhabit the world
65- Gaia began whispering things into mortal’s dreams.
98-the wandering goddess dawns the skin of a mortal to travel the world for the first time.
175- Gaia whispered the ritual to summon humans, allegedly.
177- A Tyr emperor crafted a demon army to defeat the giants (Humans = Demons)
182- After victory the Emperor tried to get rid of the remaining humans and failed.
182- The Demon Lord arises leading the humans.
183- After a small civil war, the humans win, the emperor is buried alive by its subjects.

>>5353955
Good theory,but not quite.
this is all you know of them:
”The will of the old world”: as old as Gaia, The three gods battled them to restore peace when Gaia fell asleep. Extinct. The original demons
>>
>>5354004
than perhaps when she wakes up she will start direct intervention onto the planet and become God Empress of the Tyr or something?
Also archive thread soon OP
>>
>>5354004
Now I'm suspecting it was the demons, or the human god that put her to sleep.

>Define "End"
moon will crash into the earth
>>
So the actions are:
>Flirt with Rakta? ( I don’t see much support for this )
>Cast invisibility
>Steal the giant sword and take picture of blueprint (1 action)
>Sabotage rifle and blueprint
>Learn a skill from Flora (considering what skills she has, it would be illusionist)(1 action)

>>5354354
No, the moon would not crash into the earth.
I have full plans for the quest in case She awakens.
I might give the players control a viscount of the Empire trying to maintain order/status quo.
Depends if Anon is dead.

>>5354212
It is archived.

I have rereading comments, the dead space reference is not out of place.
She is supposed to be an unknowable force of change.

>metric fuckton of interlinked magical pillars that serve as inhibitors
that's actually 100% correct, they have other functions but that was the intended one.

Will begin writing later.
I will add the answer to the game when the post comes.

>ask Rakta if she would like to go on a date, complement her abs.

Okay, you were going to do something probably stupid.
But you had to try.
Trying to look presentable even though you hadn't showered in… several days, you headed over to where Rakta was.
It wasn't hard to find her, people were more afraid of her than of you.
so she had a large margin of space.
She was praying on her knees towards the mountains, although you couldn't hear what she was saying.
you waited for him to finish sitting on the floor.

A couple of minutes later she snapped out of her trance and was surprised to see you.
"Hey, what are you doing here? I was the one who had to watch you."
Did you notice how your legs trembled a little?
"I was wondering if, when we got to a city, you'd be interested in going out?"
"Thank you for the offer, but the Chosen are not allowed to fraternize with the populace. You and your friends will have to go without me."
"Oh, it wasn't. It's not fraternizing, just a professional meeting. The two of us, alone .ˡᶦᵏᵉ ᵃ ᵈᵃᵗᵉ.”
"What?"

You were looking at each other with blank expresions
your brain wasn't working properly so you said the first thing that came into your head.
"You have beautiful abs."
"Do not say a word." she said sighing with a look of defeat.

"No, no and no, right now you are going to turn around and try to seduce another. Demon lust you have, can't you satiate it with the girl who follows you?"
"Flora? But the one I'm interested in is you." Fuck, you spoke without thinking again.
"Go shut up, and think." she said she trying to keep her expression serious. "I'm a Chosen, I'm a symbol of the church, you will not fuck the church.
We already have a complicated relationship, don't make it even more complicated, I still am figuring out how to explain you to the inquisition. "

"Hey, why bring them into this? Can't you be secret?"
"Oh, for God's sake, they're going to excommunicate me for this kind of talk. Shush, you still have the chance to have a normal life."

Her last words were hers before finishing pushing you into a group of people and leaving.
It could have been worse.
Maybe next time, though you'd need a real plan.

>You asked Flora to show you how she used magic.
"Although I'm flattered, are you sure? Your strong point is not this. Wouldn't it be better for you to practice something physical?'"
When you insisted she was forced to accept.
>>
"My specialty is illusionism, and the first thing you have to understand is that less is better.
The brain fills in a lot of details, so if you find a balance between your victim's perception and the effort it takes, you'll win.
The second is knowing that illusionism can affect all perceptions.
Sense of gravity, temperature, touch, hunger.
Everything can be affected, although there are easier senses to deceive, sight is the easiest one.

And the third is that although you cannot create reality, you can simulate it.
An example would be to make someone believe that they have lost an arm, all the pain and anguish would be something real.
It is not effective for combat but it is for torture, all the damage is perceived and you don’t have to move a finger."

Flora continued this explanation as she made you practice illusions that are only visible from the side.
>Illusionist(novice) (1/3)
>Spent 1 aberrance

...
>Sabotage and steal sword
>spent 3 aberrance
You've been planning this for quite some time, you used the invisibility spell inside the truck and quietly got out.
You had to wait until midnight, but there were still quite a few people awake.
They slept during the day and now they watched the chimeras on the outskirts of the camp.
The screeches of the beasts always farther than the light of the torches.

The focus wasn't really on surveillance, so get closer to the relic store.
It was a normal cart but with a guard at the door.
I was asleep at the time so you got in with no problem.
You started with the easy.
The sabotage.
You took some parts off the rifle and then put it back in its place.
Chimera diagrams were too complex.
It was a recent document too, it seemed to have been done in the last few years.
And it was written in several languages, they also included chemical recipes.
You took a picture and poured water all over it.
Enough for symbols and letters to be intelligible, but not enough for the paper to crumble.
>Post-war Chimera blueprints obtained

You also looked at the machine that was supposed to have been used on David.
It was basically a cube with a few buttons.
You didn’t understand how it worked or where the researchers had placed their notes.

So with the sabotage done you moved to the next cart.
There were some food supplies and several empty boxes.
[Roll 14 + 15 + 6 = 35 DC: it does not matter with a 35]

On one of them sat Rakta.
She snoring a little and with her hand on her sword.
He hadn't trusted anyone to watch this and now she was going to disappear.
You might get her into trouble, but there was a voice in your head screaming to get the sword.
You picked the lock on the glass coffin with no problem and opened it.
You went to take the sword with both hands and received an electric shock.
Your body shook and you fell to the ground, the world turning black.
You asked yourself why this was happening and you did not receive an answer.

I'm standing in nuclear fire.
an ace up his sleeve that I hadn't seen coming.
my opponent is already dead, charred to less than dust.
I scream, but there is nothing in my lungs, my veins evaporate and soon I will die.
Why did this have to happen? is my punishment?
For the first time I consider my mortality.
I fail to accept it in time, and my body is reduced to pieces.
I see my father die again with them.
And I don't understand how I can keep thinking.
I try to scream and I hear myself.
They are not echoes, but I can only feel pain.
So we scream together.

I'm standing in nuclear fire.
an ace up his slee-

You wake up on the wooden floor.
You try to scream but you have no air in your lungs so you suffocate until you remember how to breathe.
Rakta is still asleep and you are covered in sweat.
Your arms are sore, so you roll up your sleeves to see what happened.
Your arms are covered in light burns.
You keep the dexterity but you have to focus on suppressing the pain.

[You take the lingering injury: Light burn = -1 to strength. It will heal in 1d4 days]

This time you are more careful to take the sword with you and wrap it in several pieces of cloth.
Even so, you feel an unearthly warmth in the palm of your hands.
>The Giant Sword acquired.

[Minimum group suspicion is 7, you have 4]

You hid it in your truck and waited for morning.
There was a lot of panic.
The fact that such an important artifact had disappeared caused the others to be reviewed.
this resulted in them finding the mess in the blueprints.
The scientists were outraged while the mercenaries watched in amusement.
This escalated the situation, and they asked that every vehicle and every inch of the camp be searched until the sword appeared.

The bosses would have considered it, but the bat chimeras were still there, orbiting the area and watching you.
So they talked privately with the heads of the team.
You left for breakfast, this was no time to act weird.
You greeted everyone, and Emilia got a little too close to you.
"You stole it, right? every time something weird happens is connected to you in some way. You are just a daredevil, charmer."
Lucky for you, she had been discreet enough not to be heard.
To your rescue came David, who had given him the go-ahead to move.
"Greetings mortals! I heard that the demon lord's sword was stolen! Do you think it was him?"
"Yes, and I've also heard that he is a woman." Emilia replied before someone stopped her.
"WHAT! How will i consume its flesh if i have to eat the boobs?! I can’t do it!"
"Were you planning on eating the demon’s lord dick?"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!"
David then got up from his seat and ran in some random direction.
leaving his breakfast on the table.
"It's a good thing he hasn't changed." Emilia said returning to her food.

>Road events [2/4]
Something the bosses had done had calmed the researchers.
The one, you weren't sure.
But they were calling you.

Knowing you couldn't run away, you went to the tent they were using for this.
It was generic and without decoration.
The three bosses were sitting in front of you
"John, you are here because you are going to solve a problem that you have created."

At that time you should have been worried.
but you were curious to know what problem they were going to assign you.
Flora's fan? sword theft? the theft of the dynamite?
The fact that you carry enough pieces of demon-tech with you for the inquisition to create a dedicated squad to hunt you down?
could be anything

Your silence seemed to have been the wrong answer, as the bearded man sighed.
"This is Rakta, you have to kill her."
Oh.
"Why is it a problem, and why did I create it?"
"She is a Chosen, the moment we reach a city she will give an order, they will arrest us all,
take away all the relics that we have obtained and kill those who they say are "contaminated".
And we are not including the possibility that they tip the information off to the Emperor and use it as an excuse to declare war."

“Wait, if you knew this could happen why did you do it?”
They looked at each other and then at you with incredulity.
“Are you serious? There are accusations that the Democracy is summoning demons and every real political assassinations, we are already hanging by a thread.
We NEED the tech to turn the tide in case of war.”

There was a small silence.
"You will also be killed, just seeing you ride that vehicle of demon-tech or that armor, they might attack you on sight.”
The woman intervened in your reprimand.
"And her presence here is your fault, I don't know how, but she appeared with that tyr that you have as a servant.
He is always close to you, and he goes and appears accompanied by a Chosen? You were involved somehow."

"You are serious." you said
"Yes, we'll take care of getting rid of her corpse and whatever it takes to keep this from leaking; you just have put her down, we know you can do it, Nhave had an interesting report on you."
"There is no other way?"
"Tried and failed, we have appealed to morality, greed and pride. Nothing we say to her works."
One of them covered his face with his hands and mumbled “this expedition is a failure.”

Well shit.
What will you say?

I think this is the first time a game of deduction has been lost.
The answer is this:

It was her children, they imprisoned her. The Original demons were just servants that wanted to free her.
Why do you think they didn’t help their mother? All that talk of forgiveness?
This is why all the religions consider waking up Gaia a sin, that’s what the gods told them.

The why?
She would have not cared for her children’s creation, they would have existed in a unstable world, and they would have died.

>Accept <lie> (What will you do?)

Speech check the Paladin to not tell the church. We'll play along with the leaders, and lead her into the forest to play along with the exepedituon leaders expectations in us. It should be apparent that we take no joy in killing people I think, so yeah. Please dont tell your bosses and start a war.

Also tell her that we communed with Gaia, and going through with the war will play into her favor, ergo give her chances to remove her restraints and wake up, which will be everyone's problem. Rakta is a sort of almost knight right? Shes taken oaths and stuff? Did she swear to protect the weak? Always follow the orders of her superiors to the Tee? Both? Neither?
>>
>>5354734
>Accept <lie> (What will you do?)
Wait, what if we tell her that she should confiscate the camp's artifacts?
We could tell her that the chimeras are probably angry because the camp stole important things, so if she doesn't want them to follow us into a populated place, she should steal the artifacts and leave them in a place where they can see them, but consindering the extents they have gone already to reacquire them, destroying the artifacts may not be a good idea (chimera get big angry and church/entire city go boom boom).
If she calls out on our hypocrisy for carrying a fuckton of artifacts, we can tell her that we have had them for "a while" and the chimeras don't seem to care. Also they don't run on vengeful spirits or the souls of the damned as far as we are concerned.
We should also tell her that camp is trying to kill her.

You looked at your bosses with a neutral expression.
Not accepting this order would cause them to find someone else to do the job.
But you couldn't do it either, you didn't want to.
So you got deeper into shit and lied.
You agreed to kill Rakta.
Almost instantly the three bosses relaxed.
"Remember, you're not doing this for yourself. You're doing this for everyone."

You left the tent with a new weight on your shoulders.
And you wondered why you always ended up in the middle of all these messes.
You knew you caused them, but still, it was weird.
With these concerns in mind you set off in search of Rakta.
Thinking that you were going to tell her.

You found her sitting on a box away from the group.
In front was the crystal sarcophagus that contained the sword you stole.
"Hey, Rakta, can we talk?"
"Did you also come to blame me for this?"
"No, it's about what you're going to do when we get to Dico." (the city)

"I'll drag you to the inquisitors and give a full report to the church."
"Yes, that, about the report. You have discussed this with the leaders of the expedition, you know that you could cause a war, right?
Why do you keep insisting? You were not a paladin, your goal was to protect the weak, right?"
"The Empire and the Democracy have been on the brink of war for centuries.
They have been to war a couple of times, and the excuses always change. My duty is to protect order, and this expedition undermines that mission."

"Okay, okay, but I've...communed with Gaia, and if we're going-"
"You've done WHAT! Damn it , I knew you were up to something, you're a heretical resurrectionist."
"A what?" you weren’t really informed on the church’s factions.
"You want to wake up Gaia so she can revive Qorthos you damned heretic!"
"NO! no, no, no, that's the problem. If there is a war that could free Gaia."
"Free Gaia? But she is asleep, and how do you know a war would wake her up?"
Shit, you forgot the Chosen were just tools of the church.
Disposable tools best are best kept ignorant.
And now you had to fix your mess.
"Bad choice of words, and I know she'll wake up from the communion."
"Damn it, do you have a plan?"
"Well, the chimeras are following us because all these artifacts.
So can’t you confiscate them and return them to the chimeras?
That way they will have no incentive to follow us and we will avoid the diplomatic incident."
>>
Rakta sighted
"I have proposed it and they refuse to leave the artifacts. Besides, they have stolen the sword from under my nose, they don't trust me and neither do I."
"And that's it? Is there nothing to do?"
"What do you want? I go steal the cart where they store them and go into the desert?
I can't win a fight against all the guards, I would die before completing the task and then no one would hold them accountable,
I bid my time till I can commander real authorities."

"But if we take the artifacts to a city, the chimeras would attack it, right?"
"You're an optimist, no, they'll kill us before we get there.
Look at those flying beasts, they're following us so the extermination team can find us."
well fuck

>(Use 3 fuel) Same plan as above but with fuel, boom.

So the story is this: we went to kill Rakta, but found her in the midst of rigging the artefacts to explode. I guess she was desperate to prevent heretics from getting them? At any rate, we tried to stop her, but couldn't. The artefacts went boom, and Rakta died in the explosion.

Thanks for running, QM! A great thread as always.

I'm willing to support this, but could we steal a few things before we go through with the plan? That way we can throw them back at the chimeras so they go away.
We'll still keep the sword though. I kinda want to commune with it, see if the sword is only an echo, or a fragment of a god.
>>
>>5355718
>Steal relic cart
>Contact Cedalion telling him relics are back on the way, tell him meeting location under orders to keep men away until you have evacuated team.
>fake her death (leave relic cart in desert at a point like it was headed for a fortress monastery with the doors ripped open, and blood and bits of meat on it from the Chimaeras repurposing the animals as an apology present)

Honestly, tell Cedalion that we need a coverup death and skidaddle have him chuck a relatively fresh Tyr on there with its head ripped off and some bits mangled for effect, or we can just have him "leave nothing but some blood" since that seems the major Chimaera MO. He might be willing to play along, easy artifact retrieval, get brownie points with the last human and possibly help forge a powerful ally that the mightiest of Human (dick) magic has failed to turn to our side.

Anyway, I say worst comes to worst we always give another shot at seduction, I think we almost had it. She was not laughing at it but taking it deadly seriously, which means she thinks of us as a threat to her chastity or vows to the Church. If we pull the big reveal good chance we might touch on some dark and repressed fetishes. I mean come on, a Church girl thinks it some weird Chimaera making a pass and reacts one way, what if we dangle not just the forbidden fruit, but the whole damn tree?

Also its kind of weird to see gods actually care about their subjects usually they are indifferent douches and assholes stings that gaia is so uncaring about the people living on the planet since she is nice to us so far. hopefully when this plan works out we can return to Cedalion to make the Human Federation great again have the Coat of arms encircled by stars Enclave style. >But construct like Space Marine, not like Android Girl right?

I mean any anatomy she would have down there would be up for grabs after all the implantation and surgery.

But, honestly seducing a powerful ally to our side with the ultimate forbidden fruit for her people and calling is a VERY Demon Lord thing to do.

We are the last of the humans and we face a broken and unfair world where people constantly suffer, we have a unique gift and power that can if not set things right, at least add weight to the other side of the scale. We are different because we are not filled with the hate and pain of those who were enslaved before us and driven to fight monsters as cannon fodder. They treated people like meat because they were treated like meat, but WE are different.

We have given life and hope to an immortal dead-man trapped for hundreds of years in our first 24 hours in this world, we have saved an infant monster from the woods and taught it morality and the beginnings of right and wrong (which is impressive for his age by any standard). Instead of death, we have twice brought advice and given mercy to bandits that have crossed our path trying to lead them on the path of good. And now we finesse the collar of a centuries old terror whose greatest plots to craft a murder have been reduced to a one-sided pummeling from a teenage boy whose possible death has been reduced to a time out to cool off and getting ditched at the nearest safe town because he is a dipshit. We are a bit of a prick for provoking him, but its better than what could have been. Lets not forget what Flora was doing in the village when we found her and how we quickly handled that situation.

We honestly got a pretty good story going for the whole Noble-Demon-(Lord)-in-the-making schtick.

But it might be pretty stupid because if she says no we probably have to kill her because she will definitely rat us all out.

The rest of the idea was solid though, seduction was mostly a joke unless we though we could really pull it off, would like to ask her if she thinks her church is doing adequate good in the world if it was worth it kind of thing.
