You among others were sent from your tribe, the Red Berry Clan, to the human trading republic, Deisan, to aquire skills and expertise.
The republic and your clan hope this could improve relations, and hopefully uncover ways to mutually benefit both parties, as they are both having hard times in their own ways:
>Deisan is currently in dire need of proper materials, mainly metals, to fend off dangerous beasts on their border, and protect their citizens. Population density is increasing, along with the frequency of sickness
>Red Berry Clan wants new foods and ingredients for their people, as their current day to day meals are primarily "only" red berries. They also have a feud with their neighbor, but the conflict is in a lull for the moment

What occupations or topics did you take interest in/research?

>Sailing - Discovering uncharted land might provide the solution to our problems

Your home tribe is located between the Blueblin mountains to the west, and the Longnoses to the east.
Long ago, your tribe enslaved Longnoses, and ever since the feud has been ongoing. Depending on the side, slavery is still ongoing and any diplomacy seems to be rather distant.

Fascination for water and its flow is something you have had since childhood, watching bark boats float out to the open seas. Now in adulthood, sailing has been a passion you have chased whenever you had the chance. Your home clan has no boats, so going to Deisan to finally experience the sea is a dream come true.
You like many of your clansmen, have aquired a distaste for the red berries produced at home. Deisan has more fish, more fruits, more meats, and more greens for all. In recent times, aquisition of this diversity has lessened due to harder times, but this makes you want to improve the situation for all

Deisan officials agreed to let you command one boat with some crew for your venture. You have one week to make preparations for the journey.

Checking some sources, there are speculations of islands north east of the Longnose mountains with cliffs facing the waters, to the north west of Deisan there seems to be several green flat islands.
There seems to also be a mountain island far, far north, which shone in the sun. The source said this mountain probably was made entirely out of raw metal ore, but cant be true, right?
Rumors say Deisan elite are looking for new and exotic wines, as well as animal pelts.

Recruiting more crew to fill more positions on board, as extras in case of death or sickness. In this search you found a close friend from your time studying here, Senbo, an animal handler. His help should be beneficial to this venture

Additional ropes, planks, and tools were collected. Most of the tools are in poor condition, since Deisan has a shortage on metals, but you did aquire some with a better quality. Better than nothing.

One week has passed, and now the moment of truth has come.

It took several days, but now you can see it, several green islands are fast approaching. Further still, you can see a tall mountain in the distance! Not shining, but definately not as "far, far north" as it was claimed.
There were some sickness on board, but thanks to Senbo growing some greens onboard, it was cured and the crew could return to their posts.
The islands look good, but a matter of docking seems diffecult. Shallow waters means taking the ship in close hard, and thus offloading materials and crew harder.

Rowboats take you and some crew in first, looking over the land.
Its green alright, much tall grass, some bushes, very few trees. Senbo thinks there are likely small animals in the grass, along with potential foods we can eat. The strong winds might make the animals smell us from afar, so there might be some diffeculty in finding them initially.

You have enough planks to make a small administrative building for early operations, and enough to make a little something more. What should we use it on?
Pick one:
>Some small improvised traps - Small game sounds good
>A small quay - Easier loading on or off the island
>Housing for crew - A temporary respite for the crew

With our place of operations in place, we are now ready to see how much potential we got. Starting with this island, we send out people to prospect for resources, while we let the boat return to Deisan to send us much needed wood.
Farming: You instruct and help out with preparing farmland. With your oversight there is steady progress with little hickups. You make sure some apropriate crops are planted, while preparing more land for the next batch of seeds coming in with boat soon.
Senbo checks around for animals, and has found several holes in the ground! He believes there are some small game running around, but without proper equpment they cant be caught yet. We should also make sure to set aside materials for fencing in our crops, so they wont get stolen by these critters.
There seems to be some bushes growing certain small fruits on them. A crewmember ate one, noting it is bittersweet. Farming: You havent had a taste of these yet, but hearing its description, they might be good for making wine

The following choices are long term

There certainly is potential on the island itself, but where should we focus?
Choose two:
>Explore possebilities of winemaking - Brings happiness and money
>Look for more natural produce - There are surely more to gather
>Check what bounties the sea could bring - The deep provides food and surprises
>Increase attempts at trapping animals - Foods and pelts are always nice
Note: We are getting some of each type, this is more of a focus.

There are also many things we cant get here, what should we request to have delivered?
Choose one import:
>More wood - We need much more wood, as there is none on the island
>More seeds - We can produce some crops, but its nowhere near enough for good exports, or even reserves
>Some animals - Good source for food, clothing, and companionship
>Write in
Note: We are getting some of each type, this is an additional import

Its been some months since you made landfall on this island. The expected shipment with building materials has been used for building houses and to add some extra lenght to our quay. We made some barrels to store our first batch of wine from these planks too. The wine tasted "bitter-weird" as of now, hopefully aging some more makes it taste better. The people who taste tested it seemed optimistic, maybe a bit tipsy. We tried planting some of these bushes closer to our improvised farm fields, and so far they are making a lot of fruit!
We have fishers checking around the island for good fishing spots, and there seems to be several prominent positions. Currently we are getting a fair amount of fish in from some improvised fishing rods.
The child of a small family brought over by boat tried weaving some of the long grass on the island, and made himself a little hat! Although we hadnt considered it, the grass might have potential for clothing and other applications. Maybe even fishing nets?
Small crustacheans have been spotted latching on to the quay, covering the pillars underwater. They are latched on tight, we have had no luck bringing any of them back on land so far.

Since that one shipment came from Deisan, we have not had another visit. We havent spotted any boats, and some of our people are getting restless, questioning whether Deisan has fallen to the beasts, or succumbed to some sickness. There are some strong opinions for tearing down some buildings for planks, so we can make boats to make contact ourselves, while the more optimistic believe we are sure to get a visit any day now.
Do we:
>Encourage making contact - We need to know their fate
>Have them stay - We cant risk them or the materials
>Write in

An elder from Red Berry clan that arrived here together with you has asked to talk with you alone for a moment. Away from prying eyes, you talk in your quarters. He suggests making contact with the clan when possible, and see if we can have some workers from the "workcamp" come help us out here.
Hes not suggesting making any rash decisions ("like making a boat from housing when people are on the way? Stupid if you ask me") yet, but when the opportunity arises: Should we try aquiring some of this additional workforce?
>Yes - Willing or not, they are good workers

Several months pass, and there is still no visitors coming in from Deisan. Due to our food coming mostly from fish, supplemented with some veggies and some aged wine (which when aged around two months or more, tastes sweet and full-bodied), we found it necessary to have everyone help out in production of these things.
There have been some squabbles and infighting between how and who should make the decisions on this island. As you are the de-facto leader of this venture, you have the final authority, which the people accept for now. But, factionalism might eventualy arise if contact is not made with Deisan or any of the other cities.

There have been talks of arranging a wine festival once every month, so we all have something to look forward to. Others think its better to have a little wine daily, to regularly feel the fruits of our labour.
What stance do we take on this?
>Once a month - Something to look forward to in trying times
>A little a day- The alcohol migh mask the hunger a bit
>Something entirely different!/Write in - Other amounts at other intervals, or even who gets wine (define all these)

You have been in standby for quite some time now, fishing most of the time you dont spend helping with winemaking. You miss friends in Deisan, and sharing this amazing new wine with them all.
You are currently fishing. While these thoughts swirl through your head, among many others, you slowly feel yourself pulled into a trance by the swirling waters surrounding the thread in the water. You feel, deep down, something speaking to you.
No discernable language, just sounds of the water and the breeze gently grabbing the straws around you, spilling secrets that has never before been told.

Before you know it, you are in the water, face down to the deeps. The water is cool on your skin, but somehow more wet than you have ever experienced it.

Without though and intention, a word forms on your lips, which you whisper into the deep:

Possibly. This can be incorporated into a future "Write in" section where appliccable.

The word leaves your mouth, then followed by another, different one. You say another, then another, but you dont know what any of them mean. The words form sentences, the sentences form phrases. Two months more pass, and the wine festivals have been great! Good times are had, and a well deserved break is had together, with other people in the common struggle.
Many days after, people wake up either still drunk, or with huge hangovers. They return to their work when they recover however, so things are working as is.
You did overhear some people discussing weird dreams of the deep sea during their drunken stupour... and you feel as if you know what they are talking about... probably a coincidence.

You have all had more luck with fetching fish ever since that day you woke up with a fish on the beach the other day! The elder from the Red Berry clan thinks something ominous is afoot, as if he can "feel" a change happening soon. This is nothing new, he has said this every week of every month here, but *now* he *really* feel a change in the air.

Some of the prominent merchants and sailors that came here with you, has come over to your building, with plans for rearranging management. They believe more people need to be represented when deciding what we should do with our limited resources.
You know what they were getting at before they served their suggestions it: They want a piece of the pie too.

They have different takes on what to do:

Deisan merchant
"I really want to make this collective into a new republic, somewhat similar to Deisan. If we redefine ourselves as something new, we can seek to further our own interests before those of the mainland. We have had no direct contact with them for some time, so we might as well use this autonomy to further the needs of our people."

Red Berry elder
"I know most of those here are humans, and that most of them live shorter lives compared to us elves. But i believe that through our common cause we can reach a spiritual hight that would otherwise be rather hard to reach. I know elves have capacity for magic, but this way we might all to some degree get powers too"

Senbo
"I believe you have done excellent so far in managing how things are going, but you currently have too much of a say in everything. I want you to still be in charge. But I want you to delegate some power further down to some of us that you trust *wink*, that way we can all better manage good yields while you make wise decisions."

The way things have been so far has worked out great, but it seems change was inevitable.
There is a need to side with one, provide a good alternative, or make some compromise

You know that back in your old clan, there were a lesser extent of magic present in all the elves. It was not that strong, but it was enough to stimulate the red berry bushes to produce a ton of berries, hence how the clan got its name.
You have no magical yourself, but the moment you do this self asessment, you feel as though magic in some way has already touched you. Is your powers about to awaken? If so, with dedication, how much can this power grow?

Your sense of duty to your clan, where you were born and raised, and the sense of duty you have to Deisan, who trained you in their ways for cooperation and equal gain between peoples, are you going to forsake them? The thoughs entering your mind, a want for power feels good, but would it not be better to share them? With friends? With family?

You cant hide your enthusiasm for the elders proposal, but you recognize Senbo has a point. You cant plant every bush, and you cant pluck every berry. You cant gather all materials, and you cant make every tool and every building by yourself. With loyal subjects however, you can have this all done indirectly, and much more efficiently.
You appoint the Elder as a religious assistant, to help develop powers and conduct potential rituals.
You appoint Senbo as your middleman for production and developement of our territory.

And with that we are good to... oh. We forgot about the Deisan merchant.
What should we have him do?

Yes, the people need to obtain power too. We should all become powerful, so that we all become enlightened, and outsiders want to join the fold.
>Trade position
The Deisan Merchant is tasked with assessing what our people need, and what we can provide others for trade.
As he leaves, it is apparent he is not happy with the outcome. There is no protest however, your guess is he knows he can help his people this way.

And thus we have made a council! These advisors can provide insight and opinions on certain decisions and topics, while also doing their respective tasks.
They represent certain demographics of our populace, and might seek to discuss things with us on their behalf. Keep them happy, and things should go smoothly.

>Flipped coin. 1=North, 2=West
We explored the island to our west, and at first it had a lot of similarities to our first island. But after walking for a bit, the ground got steeper, taking us into some highlands. At the very edge there is a cliffside going almost all the way around the island, with deep rocky waters below.
We made sure to have our advisors have a look at the island before we decide what we are going to use the place for

Merchant
"These highlands can provide crucial building materials, like stone and metal ore. I would like to relocate a large portion of our populace over here, so that- 1: They can survey and extract materials, and 2: Live in a less densely populated area with highland that blocks some of the relentless winds."

Elder
"Extracting materials might be all well and good, but this area is simply pristine! The varying landscape with its differing sounds and smells, simply atmosphere, would provide good grounds for meditation and finding an inner magical focus."

Senbo
"I suggest we relocate only some people who are highly loyal and hardworking to this island, to promote merit and honesty. (The landscape has a charm to it, I certainly know I would like to live here.) It might anger those who are not allowed in here, but that should be just the drive they need to have them try harder. Also, i think I saw a rabbit run around... Can i set up some traps?"

These are all opinions of your advisors. Now how should we use this island?
(You can mix and match however you want btw, as they are only opinions)

Magic is all well and good, but while we can't guarantee how powerful we can become, we will always need a reliable source of metal and stone. Besides, we pissed off the merchant with his lack of promotion anyways, so bowing to his wisdom will show at least we value his opinion (and he won't sell us out to the Long Noses)

Speaking of which, maybe we should arrange a "special work detail" of our "permanent unpaid interns" from the mainland to handle some of the more strenuous jobs in the mine.

Our dear and trusted merchant should have his opinion heard on this matter. Since he got sidelined in general matters, the least we can do is let him have a spot for surveying and establishing housing.
He is pleased! He leaves with haste towards the shore, shouting orders and arranging for people to be transported over immidiately.
As a compromise, you let Senbo and the elder have the southern cliffside to do with as they wish. As you leave them to their planning, you can hear excited chatter and careful planning commencing.
A feeling has been stirring inside you for some time, ever since all the planning for this island started, and currently you have a *need* to follow your gut, away from prying eyes.

You arrive at the beach, and begin wading out. After wading for a bit, the water quickly gets deeper, and you feel you footing disappear beneath you. You swim around the rocky cliffside, having a look up close to it all.

And there you see it, an opening among the rocks, and in close to the cliffside. You climb up some rocks jutting out, taking you up to an edge. Peeking inside, a small cave, and a lit campfire.

Upon gazing into the fire, your gut screams to leave, but your mind tells you secrets await by the fire...

You obey, and disregarding your gut. The flame is so enticing, calling you in close.
Face to the flame you look deep inside, longing for a deeper meaning hidden inside.

Time passes, and you search inside the fire. Captivating as it is, you feel at a loss. There is something to learn, something to feel, but its out of reach, unreadable, like an unknown language.

Then, for only a moment, you could read its language: Something is behind you!
You turn around, only to be met with a dagger to the face. Behind it, a creature with long hair looking and curious colors looking down at you.

It makes sounds, in ways that are completely unknown to you.
But you somehow know what it is saying to you:

"I brand you. Then, we friends."

The knife firmly touches your face, a trickle of blood running down.
Both mind and gut screams contradictions to you. What happens next, whatever it might be, you know you are going to regret:

The internal chaos you are under leaves you stunned, long enough for the person to drag the edge across your face.
But very soon after, the sensation of a knife etching into your face combined with all your senses going haywire, proves too much for you. You give a hard punch in its abdomen, sending another in its face. The knife is swinged wildly around to deterr you, but with a kick you send your adversary into the ocean.

Its getting hard to see, as blood is running down across your face. You notice the knife on the ground, covered in blood, and decide to take it with you for now.

As you try to leave, you remembered the fire, and consider for a moment if you should rest here, just for a bit before you return back to the others

You are tired, oh so very tired. Sitting in front of the fire, you feel the heat on your face, warming you up. Its too hot, but the cut on your face burns much more intense in its own way.
The bleeding happened some time ago now, but it has not yet stopped. A thought fires through your mind, that you cant just bleed out like this, and it has to stop. Now.

Knife in the fire, warming up with sizzling blood still on it, you prepare yourself for intense pain.

You use both hands to wipe your face as clean of blood and muck as possible, then grab the knife by the handle.

With one hand feeling along the edge of the cut on your face, the scalding knife follows to seal the deal. You struggle through the ordeal, fainting and passing out at intervals, but you soldier on.
Your entire face feels boiling and fatigued, hurting like hell. You trace the knife along for the home stretch, and then colapse next to the fire, eyes open. As you lay there, you realize you have been singing through the entire ordeal, as your voice fades out along with your conscience.

Something broke inside you tonight. And something was born.

Elder: "Are you ok? Do you feel well?"
Senbo: "Uhm, should I do public appearances for you from now on?"
Merchant: "I... This is hard to look at. I dont know what to say."
Not a good first couple of moments back on the job. You havent had a proper look at yourself just yet, as you feel you havent built up the courage to do so. These comments didnt help.

You were found in the cave by some curious explorers, next to a burnt out campfire. It seems you were gone for about one week before you were found. The explorers were about to pass by your cave, if not for some sharp rocks seemingly having been covered in blood right by. They though maybe someone had gotten impaled, and eventually got eaten by fishes, as there were no bodies around. Malnurished and dehydrated, you were taken back to camp for a medical checkup and rest.
After another week in bed, you are back up, ready to continue your duties.

You shrug off their comments, and ask about what you have missed.

"Well, the highlands had some small deposits of iron. They are however rather scattered about and around soft rocks, and have to be sifted for any meaningful metal yields. So far, we have made some basic tools to work the earth better, and we are currently saving up a small deposit should we need to make something."
"There were also some hard rock among the highlands, and we took the liberty of having some of them brought up to the southern cliffside to make the fundaments of a bigger meeting hall."
"And, also for a small temple for quiet meditation."
"Yeah, and that too."

Good thing there have been progress in your absence. You know this means you can dedicate time to do other tasks and pursue different goals.

"And last but not least: We have made contact with the Deisan republic again! They had a severe epidemic of disease, and have lost many of their ships during this crisis. I would have liked to request both wood and ships from them, but they currently cant spare anything."
"On the contrary, they are asking for resources from us. Anyting helps, they said."

So far, we have sent off several barrels of wine, as this is currently the only noteable thing we produce. They wanted to send off more, but they worry this might make our monthly wine festival much worse, as this is the only thing the festival is currently about.
"And, we had not yet heard your opinion on the matter."

Should we provide them with more wine?
>Yes - With our improved tools, we should be able to make up for the loss

You give the go-ahead on shipping off much more wine, and let the council know you are not intending to leave this place anytime soon. You would like to send an invitation to them however, so they can sample our wine and our hospitality.
You discuss matters of governance for some time, and eventually you call it for the night. There has been an urge inside you to go back to the cave ever since you woke up, and you think you can return now that the important business is taken care of.

Back inside the cave, the fire is extinguished, the area feeling much colder than last time you were here. You search the place for anything of interest, while you hum a little tune. As you do, the firepit lights up with a tiny flame! You hum a little louder, and the fire grows. You try shouting, but the fire shrinks.
You try to gradually increase your volume, from a soft hum, to a louder song. The flame grows brighter and hotter as you do this. You play around with your voice like this, feeling like you are getting the hang of it.
After some time, your voice grows tired and hoarse, caughing and sputtering for a bit. The fire materializes into a shape of sorts, resembling a humanoind!

"I see potential. I hear potential. You have what I want. I have what you want."

Before you manage to gather your senses and respond, it gives another message

"I will teach you two songs. One is for you, and you alone. The other is for you, and your people."

A fiery feeling runs through the inside of your throat and mouth, somehow cleansing you of your soreness.
Then, the two of you sing in chorus. High notes, and low notes, in a language you cant understand. Repetitions upon repetitions, sometimes barely audible, other times as loud as you can go.

As it turns to day outside the cave, the two of you still sing. But now, you feel a new sensatio. Your hands have been clenched this entire time, but now you feel a heat inside, hot like the knife you had to your face some time ago. You open your hands in shock, to see two flames hovering over your hands.
At this discovery, you broke the song with the shape, followed by the fire in your hands extinguish.

"Ask one thing now, as I will take my leave."

"I am flame. The roar from that which burns. I am friend. I am foe.
Sing my song, then call me Inferno."

The two of you look at each other, with only a crackling flame to break the otherwise silent cave.

You wonder if you can squeeze in another question, but you barely get to open your mouth before...

"Bye"

You have learned two songs! One is "for you, and you alone", while the other is for "you and your people".

The song for you, "Forill'd" , summons the fire when you desire (and the flame is available). Can only be used when times are dire, or to deliver good news. Other usages can be overlooked depending on the situation (although you dont know what "overlooked" means here).
The song for others, "Borouo" , is what generates fire in your hands. The strength depends on how loud it is, but it needs to start calm and soothing. The song also needs highs and lows, as it wouldnt be "proper singing" otherwise.

You were assured that singing together with others yields "cooler" effects, if they know how to sing that is.
There are more songs to learn, but that comes with time...

With a mask complete, you call a meeting with your advisors, to show them your newly aquired powers.
There is awe on their faces, there is a clear fascination in them all.

The elder is through the roof with optimism. He asks if you can learn him all and everything there is to know as soon as possible
Senbo sees potential for melting our sifted ore with this power, which should improve our ability to make tools
The merchant however, after the initial amusement, seems sceptic:
"Is this going to benefit us all? This seems like a first step to aquire means of oppressing the people."[red/]

You voice your view on the matter, and reassure him you intend to teach as many of our people this power. These powers are stronger with many followers after all.
He still isnt quite convinced, since "fire in itself although helpful, can bring a lot of destruction".

The merchant lets the matter drop for now, going on to tell some news
"Deisan apparently had some matters they wanted to discuss privately over there, which they somehow cant convey over here. Strange if you ask me. They did take our offer however, as they are sending some diplomats soon. Should be here in a week or so."[red/]

You start to plan for the arrival of these diplomats, but then Senbo comes in with a thougt.
"I was thinking, since we all are to learn this fire stuff, would it not be better to hold off on that until the diplomats have left? Sharing with them probably wont be a problem, but what if we just hold onto this for the time being? They might be rather inquisitive if they find out, and might change the topics away from what they intended." [blue/]
"Absurd. They might be curious, sure, but what is the harm in letting them know? What, are you afraid they might try to get these powers themselves?" [red/]
"I cant say for sure, I gotta admit, but I feel like I have seen some shady creatures swimming around this island lately. What if there are spies? What if there are some less than noble intentions, either from Deisan or the sea thingies?" [blue/]
As absurd as this initially is to the council, you can kind of see what hes getting at. Maybe not Deisan being as scary, or whatever it is that Senbo is getting at, but you havent seen your attacker since you first found the fire. Could caution be a good idea?

>Yes - Hold off on telling the diplomats, at least for now

Whatever Deisan wants to tell us, it surely must be important. Better hold off for now, and tell them some other time.
Realizing you havent told the others about your encounter with the sea creatures, you explain it to them, tied in with how you came to learn of your fire powers: You felt compelled to enter the cave, sat down to see what was up with the campfire, then suddenly you got attacked from behind.
They all sat quietly, listening. Well, except for Senbo, occasionally muttering "Oh no!" and "I told you they were real!" to noone in particular.

Elder:
"We need to tell the people about this. If they know there are dangers around, they need the motivation to start training immidiately to fend off any attackers."
Senbo:
"Nevermind the training, we need to build some basic defence immidiately! What if they slit our throats while we sleep? Our current infrastructure is sorely lacking, anything and anyone could slither up our shores any minute!"
Merchant:
"I agree with senbo on the defence and infrastructure, because they might be good to have. But I believe we need to establish some form for communication with this species before we do anything drastic. Sure, one attacked you unprompted, but how can we know they are all bad?"
Senbo:
"Did you even see our bosses face? They must be sickos!"
Merchant:
"There might be a reason for it! Uhm, an accident, maybe?"
Senbo:
"Yeah right, a knife accident rubbed over someones face? I dont buy it!"
Elder:
"Calm down you two..."

Senbo and the merchant ended up very passionately *discussing* the nature of these creatures, even if it seems neither of them really have much experience with them. Seeing as there is little to discuss while they are both acting up, you decide to leave.

The estimated time before the anticipated diplomats arrive is about one or two weeks, maybe three tops. There are tasks that need to be done and preperations to be made.
There is going to be one lesson in magic every two days at least. What other else do we prioritize?

Choose two priorities:
>More magic lessons - Once every two days is not enough
>Check with our smith - Tools for farming are made, maybe you have some insight to give

We have a steady and ever increasing amount of wine being made, as tools of better quality are aquired, and those creating the wine get ever more proficient. Upon inspecting the workers and their methods, you see there still are improvements to be made. Refining their technique and helping out in general, you can expect even more wine of better quality in the future.
There does seem like we are in need of more wood, or other material that can be used to make barrels for the wine. As of now, we consistently produce enough to fill all our storage before the festival, while still having reserves for additional aging.

Every other day you head down to the cave, to practice alone. Splashing water below, and the seabreeze on your body, you feel at focus and ready to train. With all the additional singing and experimenting with range, you gradually feel your voice grows more clear and articulate, occasionally using words you *feel* fits sentences, even if they arent part of the common vocabulary. You are slowly coming to learn certain words from this practice, sometimes having The Flame singing with you while explaining this and that.
On several occasions you have had to explain these new words to those you talk with, and since you seem to have overheard others using these same words.

Two weeks and one day have passed, and you get the word that a ship is arriving soon! Thinking back on these weeks, you made a lot of progress with teaching the populace about this fire magic. Initial scepticism has waned, as most have found practical purposes for these new powers. Song can be heard from many a home, from the coastline among the fishers, and at the smithy. The small elven portion of our population took to this magic easier than the humans, but the humans too are showing great progress.
You have had some mass gatherings where you all sing together. As you direct the rest, you have made a rather fine choir out of your people. As you are currently busy on this island with other administrative duties, you havent had the time to do singing with populace on the wine island. You hope to be able to go there soon with the intention of teaching there too.

Currently our meeting hall is on the wine island, as we have currently not had the time to relocate this to our main island. This is excellent, as it should make it easier to not have the diplomats learn from our populace about our fire magic just yet.

"The reason we are here, is that of great importance."
"We have had a problem with sickness of a peculiar nature. Ever since the ever encroaching beasts managed to knock down our defences, those who survived the bites and wounds have had some..."
"... mutations."

Apparently, the survivors of these attacks have started to transform, exhibiting increased muscle growth and a more defined jaw with sharper teeth. Currently the sick are in some sort of coma, but there is fear among the citizens they wake up and go berserk.
They had heard we managed to produce metal ore, and hope we can either send some over, or produce some weapons for them. Alternatively, if we have some way to heal sickness, they are also interested in that.
"We are desperate, and are in dire need of any and all help. We will be in your debt, and repay your kindness when we can."

How should we help them, if at all?

It has been quite a while since you were in Deisan, and you remember the savage beasts that were continually attacking their walls during the night. They were usually fended off, but many lives and limbs were lost in the process.
You tell them they may have some of our valuable ore, and ask if they can send us wood and other materials when they have the opportunity. You stress the fact that we have a *very* limited amount, and an eventual compensation is eagerly awaited. They assure us they will pay us back, thanking you for your time and deciding to help them.
You offer them to stay for a couple nights so can participate in the festival, but they decline, intending to leave the moment they have the ore on board.

As the diplomats leave, and are far out in the water on their way to the ship, suddenly some figures swoop up and snatch some of them out from their rowboats! They are too far out to help, so you warn the people nearby to be prepared for an attack and watch for the waters.
Intense fights break out on some of the row boats, most of them manage to return to the ship with crew alive. You are unsure how much ore was lost to the sea, but you can only hope nothing falls into the hands of the creatures.

No creature has come towards land, but with this attack, you and other onlookers now know for sure, that a proper defence must be prepared.

How should we proceed?

As they are noting but a threat to us, they must burn. In what manner we are unsure, but burn they will. You call out to your people that a tragedy has happened at sea, and that there are evil creatures after our lives, waiting for the opportune moment to strike. Unease spreads through the crowd, as you declare the following
Future ore is to be made weapons out of, and rocks to make walls along our coast. Fishing is forbidden at night, and there needs to be armed patrols with lights at the ready.

With the basics out of the way, you have our merchant handle further talks with the populace, so you can begin preparations. You would consider this dire, so you head to the cave, and talk with The Inferno

"Troubling. Danger in sight. Bring me your men of the forge. I will teach them."
Before you leave, you were told to have them drink wine before coming down, and prepare much more for their return back at the smith.

After preparing the initial wine arrangements, you meet up with the council to see what more can be done

Merchant: I have assigned people to gather grievences and opinions on our course of action, and there seems to be support for our cause. Eyewitnesses have spread the word, and are sure to try convincing those who dont at first agree. But there is a-
Senbo: Why are we drinking our wine reserve now? There are certain people who have noticed, who are quite upset since we were to start drinking during the festival in just two days!
You try to explain to Senbo the reasoning, but he seems to have none of it.
Senbo: I understand these are trying times, but rules are made to be held! The forgemasters could have waited, just two days! I do hope word of this doesnt spread...
Elder: The reasoning is sound, calm down now. If there is severe backlash, we can publicly address this!
Merchant: Stop for a moment, both of you, please! I didnt get to finish what I was saying! The inhabitants of the wine island are very curious on how we are to manage producing enough stone to wall their entire island! Wine island is only coast with flat grasslands, we cant possibly do this quickly, and with the amount of stone we have over here on this island!

Uh oh. You may have commited a faux pas when addressing the public.

Elder: We can't linger on this and that, both of you. What matters is what we are to do from here on out. We can save face later.
Everyone calms down, and nods in agreement.

How should we proceed from here?
Each person on your council (including you) may perform one task. Choose wisely:

Merchant: (Pick one)
>Walls - Have more stone cut and transported to the shoreline
>Communicate - The merchant and his helpers need to clear any and all misunderstandings before they twist and divide us
>Write in

Senbo: (Pick one)
>Traps - Give Senbo free reign to do what he knows best: Making traps
>Wine transport - The fire asked for wine, get the required amount and more ready
>Write in

You + Elder: (Pick two, or one twice)
>Teach the unknowing - Wine Island populace has not had any training yet, they need it now
>Refine the knowing - Making our surrounding populace even better could provide good soldiers and guards
>Join the cave - It wise to learn the knowledge yourself too.
>Prepare contingency - Plans are useless, but planning is indispensable
>Write in

Regardless of what is chosen, some of the suggestions will have effects even if not selected (although minor)
You may also reassign who you want at a different task, if desired.

Im letting this vote run for a couple days, as im busy for some time.

Discussions and write-ins are appreciated, and will *probably* be incorporated into future updates

>Yes, a year - Significant changes have happened
