You can't recall much before the Invasion began. In fairness, most people - the handful that probably remain that is, couldn't. All you remember before the sky came apart and the world got plunged into an unending nightmare is a sudden bright light. Not unlike the sun, but brighter and worse somehow. Much, much worse.

Just a short while ago, you, a completely unremarkable Power User were doing as you usually had, scavenging and salvaging from the corpse of a long-dead world. Now, you were in over your head and dealing with the consequences. You only pray that things will not get any worse than this.

Rules:
Rolls will almost always be a best of 3 1d100 from every player participating. DC will vary and will depend on what's being rolled for.
1 and 100 are a crit fail and a crit success respectively. In the event that both a good and bad crit are rolled simultaneously, the good will outweigh the bad one unless two or more 1's are rolled.
Vote periods will close from around 50 minutes after posting to 1 or 2 hours, or after a unanimous agreement between posters.
In the event that a tie is made between two different rolls, a tiebreaker roll will be made to decide which course of action to take.
Asking for more context behind a given choice is welcome and a vote extension can be given in the event that someone can convincingly sway other people to another vote.
Rules may be changed at my own discretion for any reason.
Write-ins are always welcome and are actively encouraged so long as they aren't extremely out of character.

You call and reach out of one of the ghosts, watching as more and more of the crowd of animate spirits vanishes into the ether.

[Wait, hold on a minute...]
[Can any of you tell me what's going on?]

Just when it looks like your efforts might be in vain, one of the ghosts stops and turns towards you. It stares up at you from blank empty eyes-or more accurately, it stares through you.

-Nowhere to go along the winding sea of no-place no-home, we don't have a home to go back to-

-We can't go back can't go back-back-back-back-back-but we want to

Can't go back, but neither can you.

Its piece said, the spirit swiftly dissolves into nothingness and vanishes. Leaving you only with an empty street, a seemingly meaningless string of gibberish, and a headache. Great.

>Just head back to your bunker, that's enough excitement for today.
>Look around for a few minutes, then head back.
>Check your Energy-Tracking Device for any other points of interest.
>Try and scavenge from the area whilst you're here.
>Write-in.

You head back towards your bunker, passing by and ducking between buildings as necessary in order to avoid wandering entities, as well as keeping your senses up to detect negative phenomena.

The first time you went down a street and watched it keep stretching off into the distance and that nauseating cloying feeling like your skin was burning had been quite enough, thank you.

You quickly find the stretch of street where your bunker lay hidden, though the ground has gotten coated in strands of meat here and there, which you have to peel away by hand. Eugh.

You're just about to open the exterior hatch and climb inside when you briefly notice the Orphan hanging by, just a few block down. You watch it turn and disappear down an alleyway, making it's horrid disgusting noises, but you're not sure if it saw you or if its just aimlessly wandering.

Either way, you don't quite feel safe knowing that it can come so close to your bunker's location.

>Just head inside the bunker, you can worry about that another day.
>Set up some traps, just in case.
>Follow after it and see where it's heading.

You shake your head. Whatever it is, that's something for future you to worry about. You feel confident that you can deal with it another day.

Your mind set, you pop open the hatch and crawl through the small tunnel back into your bunker, sealing the main entryway as you step inside. And to little surprise, the tiny reconnaissance module is there, bobbing up and down as it approaches you.

>"Observation: User has returned. Initiating routine scan."

A cone of blue light covers you from head-to-toe, emitted from the center of the small device. It waves up and down three - four times before switching off.

>"Analysis: No limb loss or maiming present, no abnormal mutations, several minor wounds noted, moderate Necrium build-up present at surface level, extensive energy drainage present."

>"Statement: Unit is relieved to see User intact, but is curious. Would User wish to explain what he encountered during his excursion or would User prefer to have minor wounds and accumulated negative energy purged first?"

>Explain everything that happened to the module.
>You'll take getting treated first.
>Actually, you're feeling pretty hungry right now.
>Tell it some of what you encountered.
>Write-in

The module floats on over, shining a blue light on the most damaged parts of your body, as thin trails of energy trickle out and scour the Negative Energy that had clung to you from your body and the outer layers of your soul. The feeling is welcome, but it does cause you to start tingling all over.

In an hour or so, the module floats back some distance from you, job finished, as you stretch yourself to remove any lingering discomfort in your limbs.

>"Statement: User has been purged off all detected Necrium and minor physical damage has been healed."

>"Query: What is User's next course of action?"

>Explain everything that happened to the module.
>Actually, you're feeling pretty hungry right now.
>Tell it some of what you encountered.
>Show it the VELES Project files you recovered at the warehouse.

You decide to come clean. Or at least, with as much as you know.

Okay, so you know how I left to go find some stuff, right?

>"Statement: This Unit is aware."

You tell it how you had encountered a large number of hostile entities that pursued you through the streets, following the destruction of a living lump of flesh that wanted to eat you.

>"Analysis: Description matches several old files regarding 'dewabrans', lesser Necrium-infused entities. No considerable power or strength compared to other Necrium-based entities, but still dangerous to the unprepared."

>"Statement: User most likely disturbed a nesting area and was quickly pursued; Dewabrans prefer targeting living sources of energy to destroy, but will also pursue anything within range."

Which should explain why they didn't seem to get along with the Orphan.

Following this, you take out the VELES Project files you managed to snag over at the warehouse you found.

The module scans them over a few times, before looking up at you again.

>"Analysis complete."

>"Statement: Documents detail channeling of several potent Negatively Energetic phenomena, under the authority of VELES Project researchers and administrators. With further analysis and time, this unit could determine whether or not any of the encountered phenomena that User has discovered so far resulted from these experiments.

That's great.

>"Statement: Unit will clarify that these notes only list known entities channelled in or near that specific location. For others, more incriminating files would have to be found. Minor energetic encryption throughout has also ensured that several of the documents will take at least a day before new information may be gleaned."

...Fuck. Well, it can tell you about what's in there anyway. Before that however-

A tie it seems. We'll settle this by rolling a 1d2. 1 for telling the module about your encounter with the Fluxium entity and 2 for asking it about the dewabrans.

You ask the module more about the dewabrans, the little unit slowly floating a bit higher as it begins its explanation.

>"Statement: Dewabrans, known also as "The Forsaken", are a type of minor negative creature, located in dark abandoned places reverberating with Necrium (Negative Energy)."

>"It is speculated that humans who had succumbed to total disgrace or were forced inyo exile by others of their people, were corrupted by Negative energy and became dewabrans. Due to the unstable nature of the creatures, it is also thought that they are in the process of mutating into more advanced states of corruption, potentially acting as an intermediate stage for any number of deadly negative specters."

Well, that certainly doesn't sound good - What else can they do?

>"Dewabrans are simplistic creatures, roaming the lands in search of animals, people, or any uncorrupted fauna or flora to destroy and devour. Being as weak as they are, destroying them is admittedly quite simple, but their core advantage lies in numbers."

Is there anything else?

>"Nothing that this Unit can immediately recall."

>"Query: Does User have any other pressing questions?"

>No, that will be all thank you.
>Actually...you have other questions (What do you want to ask it about?)
>Ask it if the documents tell you anything about what they'd locked up in the warehouse.
>Tell it about your encounter with the Positive Energy entity.
