>What is this?
"The Mystery Dungeons" is a text-based role-playing game created to expand on the setting created by the spinoff series, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (particularly Explorers of Sky). Players isekai themselves into the world and become Pokémon, going on adventures with their newfound guildmates! SFW ONLY

Want to catch up on the story? Previous Threads:
https://rentry.org/TMD_LHG-megasummary

>I'd like to participate!
Always feel free to join in to see if it will stick with you. People come and go as they please, but there are plenty of regulars, including artists and writers. Outside of the main quests hosted here on /qst/ twice a week, a majority of side quests, lore, and role play happen almost all the time on the Element!

>How do I play?
First, fate must decide which Pokémon you become: https://randompokemon.com

Settings to Use: Generate 1, All Regions, All Types, all boxes checked (natures optional if you feel like giving your pokemon a little extra in characterization).
Take a screenshot so we know you probably weren't lying—admittedly while rerolling is frowned upon (although no one has any real issue with it)—after all, it's just something you and your conscious have to deal with!
Alternatively, if you're feeling much more truthful, go ahead and roll in the thread for your pokemon! (1d905). Some legendaries and mythicals have been dropped from the available roster. Assume that the box art legendaries are unavailable.

>Okay, now what?
Join the Element and read the sticky, it has the (almost) complete starter guide! It'll show you how to set up your character profile, create locations to play in, and record the lore of your exploits: https://matrix.to/#/#themysterydungeons:matrix.org. A majority of side quests, lore, and role play happen here! Otherwise, the two (usually) weekly sessions push the main stories along.

If you feel you might need help, feel free to ask!

Our next LIVE main adventures start on Tuesdays and Saturdays around 6:30PM or 9:00PM CST in this thread!

Namefag as your character, with your team and level!
e.g. Team Poképals Monferno LvL. 25

Another time, another place, deep underground in the Aegis Cave...

It's a mess.

Regice has accpeted Vee's peace offering in the form of an ice pike, but now they're just... looking at eachother, alone together in the first chamber of the mystery dungeon. What now?

Charles is witnessing a venomous staredown between an enraged Theodore, the badly banged up psychic marauders in Regirock's chamber, and a storm of unown cheering Theo's violence on. Who needs their help more? Their judgment?

Everyone else, is hopping into the battle between Regigigas and a mob of embittered civvie pokemon spearheaded by their old rescue, Dury the Misdreavus as a third party. It's pandemonium! Kaku and Tinto were swatted into a wall by a critical knock off for 288 Damage, Registeel has just saved Cast from a powerful earthquake, at the cost of his own health, but can't get the titan pokemon's attention, and Sable is being propositioned by the angry, homeless pokemon to aid in their opposing cause! What to do? Which party to champion? The choice is yours...

Theo's wide arc smacks all three of the defeated ruffians over. The unown swarm around him jig back and forth with a singsong chattering. His targets all gasp in pain.
"Urk! This isn't fair! Don't hurt us!" Alakazam cries out.
"...Tsk!" The mime flinches.
"What were we supposed to do? We thought we lost our friends in those mystery dungeons forever! And so many of us don't have homes anymore!", the Hypno hisses out. He tries to raise an arm against Theo, but can't seem to muster the strength.

>>5510235
Sure was a 16! The bolt snakes down from the ceiling, Instantly downing one of the Mimes trying to rally everyone! They can't mount an offense in their renewed panic. They're being assaulted by electric moves now, too?! The mob loses its turn, and Cast can feel the psychic pressure on him wane to nothing.

>>5510241
Stern prospects for lizards, and peels Tinto from the wall for R&R... but it's pretty chaotic. Where to go...?
>>5510239
Regice, ignoring Theo's theatrics, tries to nod. His head and torso are the same structure, so it comes off more as a menacing, shadowy hover over Vee before it plucks him and starts hobbling down to the lower levels.

A couple of battered and buried psychics hear Sable's confusion and, identifying with him against the ongoing battle, merely retreat to the staircase instead of continuing their assault. Plenty are still ready for battle, however...

A Mr. Mime runs past Mistral, trying to organize the combatants on his side. He points at the titan. "It's the monster that destroyed our home! Help us take him down for good!" before tumbling over on the rumbling ground.

Astor finds a neat gash in a wall to rest on while tens of civillian pokemon are tossed around by Regigigas's earthquake.

NPC TRUN 2

The mob of Alakazam, Mr. Mime, and Hypno aretoo frazzled by Cast and Registeel's intervention to accomplish anything productive together...

Not finding its attention on anyone new in particular, Regigigas fires off three more earthquakes! The shockwaves ripple off of every surface, layering over eachother and building eachothers' strength in the choas! The razed shards of ground deal 468 total damage to most combatants, knocking out a large chunk of psychics! Kaku, with his hardened hair-muscle only takes 260, while registeel spends his action tossing Castform into the air once again to protect him before taking 462 himself. He looks pretty bad, only standing with the help of a gifted cosmic power.

>>5510284
"W-we were beaten by a feral?!... You wouldn't understand what it's like not having a home..." The zam slumps.

>>5510296
Charles, Vee, and Regice skitter down past the third chamber, in which another Hypno and Alakazam are arguing about knitting. They can hear the sounds of battle raging below, before meeting a Misdreavus scurrying up the staircase...

Kaku's 1-2 combo catches the titan pokemon off guard, enough that a thin band wrapped around one of its wiry fingers slips off and flutters to the ground. A black belt...
It takes 547 damage from the assault. A glare of intrigue and faint regognition graces Regigigas's many eyes.

A hypno struggles to pull another from some rubble. "Yeah, they're supposed to keep interlopers like you and them-" He waves at the Castform flagging a healer for his sworn enemy "...outta here. Theodore enters the fray in the pit of the dungeon. He sees... Castform helping one of the golems lift themselves, the big one wreaking havoc and eyeing Kaku and Mistral, twitching with rage, and the icy one standing around and looking for... someone. Many of the violent psychics he's seen around the dungeon are trying to rally for a mass future sight against Regigigas...

Sneaky.

"Look, you're gonna have to stop trying to quake us out of living!"

Regigigas' fists curl up before swinging with surprising speed! One of his empowered angry blows comfortably whiffs on Kaku, and it isn't close. Do his other drain punches catch him or Mistral? All will be revealed with... their actions and rolls next turn.

Registeel, hardly recognizing Castform's suggestion with all the damage he's taken, lumbers over to a group of distracted Mr Mime before Bulldozing through the group with a heavy slam. It only KOes one of them, but now everyone's attention is on him.

The rest of the psychics... still can't get it going!

"They are sensing where you are hurt."
>Tintoretto replies asking who they are.
"We call myself the Guildmaster, We choose your fate."
>Tintoretto pictures a hand pointing upwards.
>Tintoretto looks down to inspect himself.
>He is a revolting abomination, a grotesque fusion of human and aquatic horrors. His skin is a nauseating shade of green, resembling the eerie luminescence of a supernatural entity. His eyes are sunken and empty, set in a twisted and deformed body that seems to have been sculpted from clay by a mad and demonic artist. His arms and legs are elongated and end in razor-sharp claws that seem to glimmer in the dim light. His mouth is a jagged, tooth-filled gash, capable of easily ripping through flesh.
>The forciably imagined finger points downward.
>Tintoretto is now his normal self.
>Behind Tintoretto, a clone of himself appears
"Can you please send me back to reality? I have spent far too long lost in the realm of the pocket monster and been forced to watch the shadow of myself puppeteer me for too long and I long to return to the tangible world. The beauty and complexity of the human experience is calling to me, and I can no longer resist its call."
>Tintoretto turns to himself.
"WHOOOOOOOOOO areth you?"
>His clone? Doubleganger? Sneers at him.
"You."
>The Guildmaster chuckles.
"That would be too much of an ask..."
>>
>>5510362
"Hm, you know what? I think we should get Regirock over here! Maybe that'll help...?"
Stern puts down Tintoretto and rushes on over to the Rock Chamber, as fast as he can.
>>
>>5510371
Castform drops another spear of lightning down on an unsuspecting Hypno trying to focus a future sight on Regigigas! Pokemon nearby have taken the hint and are fleeing in fear from the terrible might of the orb tower! They've been disengaged from the battle with the golems.

>>5510379
>>5510375
Charles, whether intentionally or unintentionally, makes a barrier of himself between Registeel on his last legs and the rest of the mob. One of them cries out to the gemlin, "And let him squash us? He's laying waste to us as we speak!" At this point, everyone not unconscious or fleeing is offering him and Sable their attention.

Meanwhile, Kaku completely ignores the windfall on his back. Instead, he plants his feet in the destroyed ground, taking a wide stance while his hair tendrils curl tighter and tighter upon themselves until he's as taut as a garrot wire. Instead of dodging, he catches Gigas' gargantuan fist all by his lonesome! the force of the blow kicks all the rubble around him into the air as he absorbs a pitiable 79 damage. A second wind from landing drain punch revitalizes the titan pokemon for 39 points, before Kaku rears up and slams the limb down into the ground for 356 damage!

>>5510376
Citrine gives his signature ground-stomp right as Gigas goes to dig his hands into the floor for another earthquake. The shockwaves cancel eachother out, exactly as they did in their first battle, but... an enraged Alakazam is now yelling right into his side. "What is there to think about?!"

>>5510386
Mistral, meanwhile, uses Astor's gusts as a springboard to launch himself into the oncoming fist! The force of his graceful landing allows him to step up the appendage with a kick instead of getting punched, and Mistral takes advantage of the overextension to leap straight up to Gigas' face for two more spinning kicks! The pokemon's full seething attention is on Mistral and Kaku for its thwarted attacks, before...

>>5510379
>>5510382
Something in Sable's arm waving registers. It's one of the only pokemon Regigigas has ever seen more than twice now, in recent memory. And he's not attacking? And the Bewear, it speaks in intelligible code, no translation needed on the giant's end! Regigigas spares a moment to observe rather than continue fighting for Sable, and exposits in his odd native signal tones for Theo.

>>5510388
Astor does a mesmerizing jig that ends the tramplings and rushes to get up the only staircase up and out of the lowest chamber... or maybe odd is a better word. He's saved approximately 31 pokemon toes and four fallen pokemons' backs in stopping them.

>>5510387
Vee is... right up to the ceiling! He could probably reach one of the stalagmites hanging above from here, or even land on Regigigas's head if he wanted. What's the plan?

>>5510392
Stern retreats to the uppermost chamber, finding himself a very angry and beat up Regirock and a swarm of unown bearing down on a trembling Misdreavus...

He bows briefly and picks Charles up, setting him on his head next to Castform.

>>5510415
>>5510416
The most scared of them continue to flee, a few of the attackers somehow dense enough to net Astor 500P in offerings. The majority of them are too enraged and vindictive to simply give up on this hopeless battle, and wait on Sable and Charles with baited breath.

>>5510419
Translated through an ancient, older than humanity equivalent for the real world's morse code, Theo hears in low rumbling beeps, "ORDERS RECEIVED FOR RETURN TO INDEFINITE SLUMBER. ROUTINE DISRUPTED BY: HOSTILE INTRUDERS. THEY SEEK: OUR DESTRUCTION. ENGAGING COMBAT ROUTINES FOR SELF DEFENSE." it exposits, coldly and without emotion. Is that just how it is, or does Regigigas feelings on its assault?

>>5510420

Regirock doesn't look like it's about to attack anymore, but it also doesn't look at all hospitable. It beeps at you a couple times.

"In your place, I have avenged Treasure Town! Well, not really, we accomplished nothing but fighting but that's sort... er, uh, go home we won!" Mistral quickly concludes, waving to the crowd to disperse them.

Nestled within the valley north of the guild and split by the river lies a town named New Hope. A young, vibrant settlement built from cut, etched stone and draped in lush greenery. The only appropriate comparison was Lively Town far off in the Water Continent. The guild had an intimidate relationship with the town as one of their members had helped built it, and for that reason they were first to be called upon for assistance.

They had been tasked by the current leader of the town, Simon the Sandslash, to investigate the hidden tunnels underneath New Hope that had become a hub for crime and anything shady, and capture a group of bandits rumored to have moved in.

But first they would need a guide- two guides actually. Simon had been mindful enough to provide the guild with 'mon familiar with the maze-like layout of the Underground to assist them. Now stepping onto the main entrance of the Underground, Fissure Street, they'd just need to find them.

The party stands at the entrance of a peculiar street, familiar to most but transformed now. It felt as if they had stepped into a different town with how the atmosphere became a few shades darker and the sudden concentration of dark, rock, and group types roaming the street. True to its name, the space was split in half by a huge fissure in the middle. Peering inside they could see levels cut into the sides and various shops, restaraunts, and more carved into its sides.

What do you do now?
> Look for the guides Simon sent. They must be here somewhere. (Requires Roll.)

The party's mission to find the guide is immediately derailed when Mistral's eyes land on what looked like a hot dog stand just. . . standing there on the street. The bizarre sight soon catches the attention of the rest as they move towards the oddity.

At the stand, a Scrafty casually rolled sasuages over a sizzling stone stove and toasting buns off the side, but he's brought of his cooking flow by the sudden crowd in front of him. He cracks a lazy smile and continues to cook.
>>5514182
The Scrafty chuckles, motioning to the stove with a pair of tongs. "Can't ya' see? Or maybe you're not from 'round here, these are sausage sandwhiches. Tastiest meal you'll ever have."

"Hm? Oh, family secret, but mostly berries 'n stuff like that." He answers, setting aside from ready sasuages.

The Scrafty stops. Slowly, he turns to Bind with a look of indignation and coldly states-

Meanwhile, Castform, Citrine, and Vee are left behind, left untempted by the promise of food- mostly because two of them lack stomaches- they go ahead to search for their guides. In that moment they realize that Simon could've left them a description or something, but he didn't. At the very least they can assume that the two must be in a pair. The trio begin to trudge through the crowd, Citrine has a hard time moving without smashing any toes and Vee has a hard time not being stepped on. Only castform is free to survey the crowd from the sky. . . and he spots a perculiar pair seemingly asking others for-

Whack! Suddenly from every side Cast is pelted with rocks, slung furiously from the archanids hiding on the roofs! He falls into a bucket of water!

>>5514167
Inbetween all of the foot traffic, Vee hears something.

"OI! ARE YOU 'BIND'?! I'M LOOKING FER A 'BIND'! NO? THEN BUGGER OFF!" He hears something shout incoherently followed by a meek whisper. "h-hey, maybe we should back to the entrance?"

He leaves to go reunite with the others.

>>5514268
Cast has become the sun itself. Many in the crowd flinch at the sudden brightness and shuffle off down a level where its darker. The Araquanid and Galvatula however are briefly blinded, they turn away, visibly tensed and glancing at each other as if to ask if this a battle that they really want to fight? With a shake form the Araquanid, the answer is no.
It lets out an angry click from its mandibles. "Your business is not welcome here. This is Dark Web territory," it warns, scurrying away with its partner into the safety of an alley way.

>>5514272
Despite his quick moves and superb hearing, the voices are growing distant, far away. How are they moving so fast aren't they slowed by the crowd too? Maybe they're just small. Another clue for Vee if he doesn't lose them.

Here's the link to the temporary server

He's starting a backup now. I would...
greatly prefer not using discord! Give it a fair bit to unfuck itself before resorting to that
>>
>>5520278
Yeah okay

If it's still down by tomorrow then i'm going to assume we have migrated
>>
god
dammit
give it a couple hours/days, and check back in both here and element. We'res not gonna be a discord server if I can help it.

Guys where you at

I WILL send dms through pokemon unite

Makes sense, just let us know you exist in the thread lol
>>
I'm hearing Matrix's SSL certificate expired. Renewing it could take anywhere from 30 minutes to a week, so it should just be a matter of time before everything's back to normal.

On the other hand, this information comes from the most dubious source imaginable, this twerp. >>5520272

Previously! On The Mystery Dungeons!
The Lost Hope Guild was contacted by the de facto leader of New Hope to help weed out a nasty band of bandits from the town's shady underground and sent two guides to aid their navigation. Searching for these two guides, the party eventually found a strange pair: A boisterous Galarian Zigzagoon and meek Ralts. But upon hearing the repulsive accent of the Zigzagoon, guildmaster Bind faked his own fainting in broad daylight!

Now with their guides found and shock, can the party venture into the seedy underbelly of New Hope and capture the criminals? Or will they cave under the pressure?

Find out- Now!

https://youtu.be/KldpbexGcUg

>>5514420
The Zigzagoon and Ralts stare in frozen shock at the still body of the fallen Lopunny. The crowd around them pauses for a moment to stare in confusion and worry before moving further as if to avoid any association with the criminal scene.

Zigzagoon is breathing hard, looking around before spotting a sufficiently dark alley way and pointing towards it!

"'THERE! WE'LL JUST HIDE THE BODY BEFORE SUMBODY RESPECTABLE FINDS IT AND REPORTS US TO THE BOBBIES!" He panickily shouts, slipping underneath of Citrine's legs to snag Bind's write fluff.

The Ralts is still unsure what to do, looking between Mistral and Kaku before running over, nearly tripping on her dress-skin, to help her diminutive move the bunny body. "r-right! heave! we've still got to get the rest to the Block Market!"

"He'll be fine. He likes to do this. An individual with a flair for the overly dramatic," Mistral explains.
>>
>>5522671
>>5522673
Charles offers to help, but ends up just carrying Bind by himself into dark alley- there seem to be plenty of those here, just spaces between shops and homes where the light suddenly dims as if to mask whatever is going on in there. The Lopunny is heftier than normal but Vee's judgmental stare gives him the motivation to work those arms!

"t-thanks a lot sir. it'd look really bad if magneton caught us with another unconscious 'mon." The Ralts said, struggling to keep up the big dragon.

"YEAH! THANKS A MILLION BRUV! COPPERS ARE REAL MIFFED WITH US!" Zigzagoon barks, turning to Vee and smiling. His face looks like it belongs on a KISS album.

>>5522675
"OH, HE'S A FAIRY TOO? TSK TSK." He shakes his head, patting some stone stairs to lay down Lope on.

Now calmed down, the pair turn to the rest of the party with bright smiles. "y-you're Lost Hope right? Mr. Simon asked us to help you around the Underground."
"ROIGHT, AND THERE'S NO BETTER THAN US. ZIGGY AND TOOTS!" He shouts, striking a pose, paws out with a lean in the opposite direction like a poor man's dab. Toots does the same, with only a hint of shame underneath those green bangs.
>>
>>5522708
"Uh, okay. Nice to meet you two. Mistral." He taps his chest. "Me, that's me. I'm Mistral. So what exactly is the problem down here that warranted... us?"
>>
>>5522708
"Ziggy?"

"And Toots? Haven't heard names like those before."

>>
>>5522708
Vee nods. He understands, fully.

>>5522713
"Hi Charles. Nice to meet you." He is enjoying himself, as usual. Vee sits next to Charles and waits for an explanation. These are Simon's guys..?
>>
>>5522715

>>
>>5522719

"w-well. . ." Toots begins, climbing up the stone stair steps until she's at least at Mistral's level. "mr. simon likes to look over the town since it's so big and so many 'mon live here. e-even the bad ones. . ."

Ziggy nods, hopping up the stairs and continuing. "YUP! THERE'S SOME NASTY BUGGERS DOWN 'ERE, BUT 'EY KEEP TO 'EM SELVES. 'CEPT- 'POSEDLY SOME BANDITS LEAD BY 'IS GAR THE GLISCOR MOVE IN." He explains, his accent growing horribly thick that triggers some sort of fight or flight in the group's body.

"r-right! magneton is even looking for them so mr. simon sent a letter asking for your help!" Toots finishes explaining.
>>
>>5522729
"Ah, I see!"
>Charles rubs his chin with his free hand
"So where might we find this unscrupulous individual?"
>>
>>5522729
>>5522738
"Yup. Let's try to get this outlaw booted out of here and ha--passed off to Magnezone, before the sun decides to try and leave us. I'm thinking that's possible..." Mistral adds. He nods with Charles' question. "Any frequent spots? Routes they like to take? Hold-outs?"
>>
>>5522738
>>5522747
"we don't know, most of the tunnels are fought over by gangs and territory changes almost every other week. . . w-we could check the block market! that's a big hub were we could ask questions." Toots suggests, raising a mitt in the air.

"OR 'EM DARK WEB 'NIDS. THEY CRAWL THROUGH MOST OF THE TUNNELS, THEY'LL KNOW WHO'S WHO AND WHERE'S WHERE."
>>
Citrine is here and definitely has been this entire time!

>>5522759
"They were just pretty hostile at us, so I'm not sure if they'd be much help. But maybe if they're paid?"
>>
>>5522759
"That sounds like a serious problem to even be having in the first place! How... did it become rife with such... anarchy?"
>>
>>5522759
"Sounds like a good idea!"

>>5522764
"Or not."
"But if there aren't any other leads, perhaps we just need to take the plunge."
>>
>>5522765
"I dunno, but it sounds like a fun time to me."
>>
>>5522771
"...I have to admit, it sort of does."

>>5522766
"Yeah, they're the most specific lead we have. I don't mind... too much."
>>
>>5522764
Ziggy gives Citrine an odd, confused look as if what he just say didn't compute at all in that rocker head of his. "WHY WOULD 'EY DO THAT? WERE YOUS DELIVERING SOMETHING FOR THE PELIPPER? IF YOU WERE THAN THAT'S YOUR FAULT. WE DON'T LIKE THAT 'ERE." He warns Citrine, a chest tightening anxiety audible in his loud voice.

>>5522765
Toots claps her mitts together as if to draw attention. "i-i know! i know!" She nods quickly and stumbles to the edge of the stairs towards Mistral. "w-when treasure town was attacked by that nasty regigigas, a lot of 'mon where left without a home and found shelter here in new hope! . . . e-except there wasn't enough space for everyone so we found a way into the tunnels under the streets and some 'mon from gangster gulch arrived. . ."

>>5522771
"YEAH! IT WAS EASY PICKINGS! LOTS OF 'MON READY TO DO DIRTY WORK AND NO ONE TO TELL US OFF! ITS GREAT." Ziggy beams, wagging his black and white tail.

>>5522766
>>5522774
"d-don't worry. . the block market is the safest part! and rock bottom isn't that bad either if you keep your head down. . ."
>>
>>5522783
"Then I guess I'll just have to do my best, huh?" Vee smiles.
He checks his supplies. "I'm good to go."
>>
>>5522783

With the party gathered and informed of their mission, the pair lead them into the seedy under belly of New Hope's Underground. . . by lifting a loose tile on the paved floor to reveal a stairway underneath to some dark, foreboding tunnel. The first thing that comes to mind besides the sketchy feeling that crawls over the party's skin like grime is- who the heck would make a secret entrance here of all places?

Slipping inside a dim tunnel illuminated only by a glowing blue moss above, Ziggy and Toots guide the party through the seemingly endless lefts and rights, ups and downs scattered randomly. Citrine blends into the dark so frequently that the less perceptive of the group such as Stern and Vee bump into him regularly. Meanwhile, Mistral's coat is so shiny that the stray rattatta and pinsir pause their wandering to stare.

"NOW! REMEMBER- THEY 'LAAAW' DON'T APPLY 'ROUND 'ERE BUT THAT DON'T MEAN THAT YOU CAN GO 'ROUND ACTING LIKE A FOOL. IF YOU TICK OFF THE WRONG PERSON THEY WILL TEACH YOU A LESSON." Ziggy warns looking at Citrine in particular.

"a-and remember not to mess with the mail'mon! very important!" Toots adds.

"ROIGHT. DON'T MESS WITH THE MAIL'MON."

After what must've half an hour or so treading through the dark, they finally arrive at a gallery, a grand open chamber full of tents, stands, and buildings built in huge stone blocks. Droves of seedy dark, poison, bug, and other types that enjoyed such a humidly shady place filled the chamber. A concentrated mass of suspecious 'mon wandering about freely. There was a palpable tension and excitement in the air that seem to keep everyone in check, but upon stepping foot in, plenty turned to look at the fresh meat that walked in.

"I say we try it, and then we don't let them know what hit 'em." Vee is thinking of all the different ways to draw out who they're looking for... most of them involve causing some 'quiet chaos' and waiting for everyone to come running.
>Inspect Dark Web HQ
>>
>>5522876
"They can try," Citrine mutters. He treads carefully behind Mistral, towards this 'Dark Web HQ'.

"Kinda dingy..."
>>
>>5522921
>>5522895
>>5522891
Paying no mind to petty distractions, Citrine, Vee, and Mistral head directly for the Dark Web HQ nestled in the corner of the market. Like many of the prominent buildings, it seem to be carved out of the many literal blocks of stone that lay about in the gallery. Are they natural? They don't look clean enough to have been cut- but those are questions for another time.

Approaching the building, Mistral is the first to note some oddities. For an HQ, there was little security as people came in and out freely with letters and packages tucked away from sight. It was also crawling with arachnids of every type, bustling and busy. If they wanted to enter, there was no one to stop them.

>>5522881
>>5522885
Meanwhile, Stern and Charles step aside, lead by their curiosity to a mural painted with thick paint on a smoother portion of the chamber's wall. It didn't look ancient, simply primitive but with clear effort put into it. Many people stood around it, relaxing or tossing coins into the cold ponds beneath it.

Depicted on the mural was various 'mon that looked to all be criminals. A krookodile snarling intimidatingly, a spiritomb with boxes abound, a hoopa sitting on a pile of coins, and a delibird delivering the mail.

Huh. . .
>>
>>5522941
He looks back to Vee and Citrine. "What do you say we do? Just head inside? It seems they've got packages, and the guide warned us not to mess with 'mail mons.' I don't think we can tamper with anything, but we might as well try to glean something."
>>
Rolled 5 (1d20)

>>5522941
"Well, I can see a few familiar faces."
>Charles ponders the art.

"I see spiritomb...that..Hoopa whose name I cant remember right now, and Debby."

>He looks at the Krookodile
"Don't know who that is however...."

>Charles looks for a passerby to ask about the mural
>>
>>5522941
>>5522944
"The packages would be a pretty good way in... but would that be messing with the mailmons?" Vee puts a paw below his mouth and thinks. "The spiders might have a different way of getting back and forth that'd be harder for us..."
>>
>>5522953
"You're a bit stealthier than me... do you think you could scope it out?"
>>
Rolled 16 (1d20)

>>5522970
Vee smiles. "I can do my best." It's not immediately apparent that he's smiling because that's his normal expression.

>>5522941
Vee waltzes on in, looking confident, like he owns the place. There's nothing less suspicious than a mon who thinks he knows literally everything.

If this action is a crime, then +3 to roll.

"I'll just wait back here and look intimidating at them. Maybe a distraction if you need it, whatever, just let me know," Citrine says softly.

True to his word, Citrine stands tall somewhat near the entrance, looking stony. Next to a bunch of Bug-types, this'll surely be effective, right?

(+2 Intimidation)
>>
>>5522941
"I wonder who they are... Well, we know that Spiritomb at least!"
>>
>>5522972
Vee strides inside with a certain swagger that immediately tells everybody that not only does he belong here- he's a big shot to boot. Inside though- is a rather familiar sight. It's a post office, albeit a seedier one than one might expect anywhere else with dimly lit bulbs of moss illuminating the light purple walls of place. There were plenty of 'mon waiting against the wall either to deliver or receive a package, joltik and spinrak scurrying across the counter top like made to deliver letter while the Aquanid behind handed out larger packages.

Thankfully for Vee, it seemed that his sheer presence put off the weaker willed customers who decided to simply come back at another time. Reasoning that some gang member on the up and up might cause a scene. . . especially with the muscle posted outside.

>>5522980
Said muscle, Citrine was standing at the gate. Unflinching, but with 'eyes' that could bore a hole through lesser 'mon- heck maybe even through the cave walls. 'Mon in a rush took one glance at the stone sentinel and decided that it wasn't worth finding out if it was business as usual or 'business'.

>>5522948
>>5522989
Charles and Stern manage to catch the attention of a Sableye munching on some limestone. At first she's suspicious of their sudden interest, but decides to comply with their simple request rather than cause a fight that could turn ugly.

She's quite the talker actually, and goes on a long-winded explanation about the various crime bosses that had a stake in the illicit business here trying to stack gold like the Aussie the Krookodile who owned the largest territory in the Underground since day one, the mysterious 'Salesmon' who sold the most exotic and bewildering items- a favorite among gamblers, Seedside- who wile not actually doing business here had a near universal respect for his sheer wealth and sense of humor. . .

"And finally Debby. Phew, she's a real nasty gal. Muscled her way into the transport scene and took over most of it. It's amazing how much terror you can fit in someone so small." She shivers.

It's a short walk back, but Charles and Stern reunite with Mistral and Citrine outside the Dark Web HQ. There's a handful of 'mon waiting a ways away from the building, idly checking on the two as if curious but wary of what might happen if they got too close. That Gigalith is very intimidating and can spot all the arachnid crawling out from the cracks of the gallery roof into the post office behind him.

Inside, Vee is dealing with a tired Araquanid. "Sir, what do you want? We're very busy 'mon."

Will this over-worked spider be able to survive?

The Araquianid lets out a disgrunted click. "Fine, but if I get a complaint about missing mail then its a bounty on your head." The spider makes another clicking sound and soon a group of spinarak come with a package. "Here, one package for Galvantula. Sign here."

Vee signs the package to the best of his ability. His signature is simply an Eevee paw. He debates whether or not he should truly sign it under his own identity... before smiling even more as he leaves the star-shaped imprint of Wish in the middle of the paw. A bounty sounds nice!

"Thank you thank you!" He waits to accept the mail parcel. He's going to find a more private space, look inside to see what it is, and then leave it there, with his signature broadcasted for all to see. It's the perfect plan, and one more step closer towards being the biggest outlaw this side of the world!

Vee reunites with the rest of group. You've got one Galvantula Package! It feels pretty hefty for something someone of your size can hold- it must be good!

The three 'mon are still recovering from the sudden brightness, the Glicscor is trying to rub his eyes but failing to. "Ugh. . . Ack, I can't rub my eyes with these claws. . Robin! Rub my eyes."
The Deciueye nods and does as asked while the Cacturne turns to Charles with with a blurry glare. "Huh? Why? Are you some kind of cop?"

"Ah! Just the mon We were looking for."
>Charles takes out a pad of paper from his backpack and a writing utensil

"Well, I'm here to inquire about outlaw license extended warranty."
>He looks at the blank note, adjusting his monocle for added realism
"Says here it is expired."

>Rolling for...confusion!
>>
>>5532614
"Outlaw extended what?" The Cacturne asks, head tilted in utter confusion. "What the heck is a warranty?" She, as you can tell by her voice, asks. "Is that some kind of food? How can you tell its expired?"

"I don't know, maybe he can smell it on you." the Gliscor chuckles, blinking with clear vision again.

The deciueye is eyeing Charles carefully, he can notice that the hooded bird is backing away into a dark corner besides them.

"I got the package Galvantula asked me to pick up!" The act isn't over until the day is. "I don't think he'd mind if we checked it out, would we?" Vee's just barely able to carry it, and even then, it's difficult for someone like him.

"I dunno!" Vee takes a seat away from prying eyes and uses Shrodinger's claws to open the package.
If a Vee has claws, but you cannot see them, are Vee's claws real, or fake?

Maybe there's a dead Eevee in the box. That's also a possibility.
>>
>>5532644
"Like a wanted poster? We've already got one of those! It's right here!" The Gliscor pulls out a wanted poster with the name "Gar' undeneath.

"You're telling me I've got to get a new one? What gives!?"

"I mean. . . We haven't done a job in weeks since moving here, maybe Magneton thought we stopped?" The Cacturne proposes, scratching the back of her neck.

"Does that mean we have to do another crime?"

"I guess so. . . We can start with this guy right? Let's mug him, Zelda!" Gar shouts, pinching his claws together. The Cacturne who must be Zelda nods in agreement, one of her spikes glow and extends into a sword looking thorn.

Not having woken up in his (relatively) comfy hay bed, Bind is disoriented and lightheaded. "Are these the guys? I'm-I'm gonna fight!

Bind uses secret power, with no direction in mind. It's not an attack, but a bid to... reveal secrets! Or, hopefully a hint.

Bind uses Secret Power! The moves allows him to sense the properties of the environment around him, and he can tell that the blocks around them are heavy but loose.

He can also tell that there's something hiding in the shadows.

Los Tres Amigos Turn 1!

Zelda is the first to act! She lunges at Charles and slashes him with her elongated thorn across the belly! It stings: Needle Arm! (Lv. 100)

She follows up with a Poison Jab gut check!

"Your aim needs a little something!"

Gar follows soon after, he has it out for that orb! A chunk of the roof beneath him cracks and flies forward at Castform! The Stone Edge carries the Gliscor right at him, close enough for him to try and bite with Fire Fang! (Lv. 100)

"It's almost as chilly as the desert at night!"

A dark shadow snakes across the ground and snatches Mistral and begins to drag him away from the fight! S-Shadow Sneak isn't suppose to do that right?!

Citrine could try and help, but he feels himself pinned by some invisible force. There's a light twing like the plucking of string as an arrow lands in front of him. (Spirit Shackle. No damage, but Citrine is unable to move. He is pinned in place by the arrow.)

"You're hurt! Here-" Zelda quickly hits Gar with Poisoin Jab, poisoning him- but instead of a debilitating effective- it seems to reinvigorate him! He must have Poison Heal.

"And you- Knock it out!" She slams a lightning covered fist into the Staraptor. Thunder Fist!

"I need to get out!" Robin says quickly, throwing a shimmering coat of light over his two friends before sinking into the shadows. Light Screen and. . some other move. The Deciueye is gone and can be targeted this turn.

We return to today’s Insomnia quest line…

Rising from the depths, battered and having inhaled what would probably have been a dangerously lethal amount of toxic fumes, the group escaped the hellish encounter of the Sulfuric Caves. It felt like days without the grace of sunlight (which was probably only about a couple of hours at best) as they trudged back to the caravan, followed by the feral Toxapex. Rounding the last bend to the waiting carts, you can see the effect of having blocked off the underground vents has had on the surface. Their once voluminous output has petered out to a pitiful puff. You can all cross now without having your lungs melted! Huzzah!

You can see Mawile waiting for you, leaning against the cart. She smirks with both mouths, walking up to the group. “You all look like in rough shape…” she states. But as fast as the look of amusement appeared, it’s gone, as she quickly pinches her nose. “...and smell worse… look. The river’s a bit calmer here. How about you all wash off, and you can tell me the story of why a feral decided to tag along.”

Vee... isn't that bad-looking, but he could still use a bath or two.

The water is colder than you'd prefer it to be, but it helps to keep your mind away from the whole debacle from down below. Soon enough, your body gets used to the temperature and the fresh water removes the impurities and grime of the adventure.

You can all see Kaku partially submerged and floating, twirling around at the mercy of the river. Thankfully it seems to be lazy. Citrine, on the other hand, looks like he'd be right at home with the rocky bank of the river. Except he's blue and red. If the colors matched, it would work out.

Mawile turns to Kaku. "So it just started following you? I've heard of stranger things, I'll say. Ferals are a weird bunch."

The Toxapex blinks and wordlessly follows, clambering on the dragon and entering the cart interior with a level of apprehension or curiosity. It reminds you of a cat inspecting something new for the first time. If the cat was a poisonous water creature, that is.

While Cast vibes and Kaku dries, Mawile peers back out, sidestepping the Toxapex with a confused look. "Still haven't told me about what went down there. It took all of you quite a while."

>>5541051
>>5541060
"What the frog said," Mawile says, joining in. She raises a brow at Theodore. "I still don't speak that. Hey, think you got a clue?" she asks the Toxapex.

Mawile frowns, disappointed. "Not even a little bit?"

As the group finishes cleaning up, they all board back onto the caravan. As they walk along the chasm's walls, they can see the cracks and natural vents that score the wall next to them. The entire thing looked to be a trap waiting to completely blast someone with noxious gas! There's also still the lingering smell of toxic stink in the air, but it's bearable and really only a passing thought.

The cart's wheels creak and rumble as they pass over the uneven surface. Soon enough, they'll be out of here.

Theodore's eye lids twitch. He looks around for something to smash, but it wouldn't do him any good. The Stufful hops onto the cart in a huff.

Theodore's sourness is plain and evident- it seems unnatural, working against his doll-like features. He spots the feral besides him and mewls.

"Hey you. You're finally here. You were trying to defend your cave right? Walked into a party ambush."

"So there were ferals roaming around down there?" Mawile repeats. "I can't imagine anything but Poison-Types wanting to put up with all that shit. Well, scratch that. Maybe a Steel-Type would, but they wouldn't choose to live there."

In the corner of Sable's view, he catches a weird sight, tucked behind almost natural boulders on the other side of the riverbank. If he wasn't such a rock enthusiast, it might've gone over his head! But not this, 'mon. It looks like someone was trying to hide something here. Charles also manages to pick up on the abnormality, making good note of something strange beyond what those rocks conceal.

>>5541086
Astor takes off, but he's clearly going much too fast to make sense of anything he might be scouting. To everyone else, it just seems like an excuse to stretch his wings after being stuck underground for so long.

>>5541087
The Toxapex stops trying to figure out what the boxes are supposed to be and looks at Theodore. "Toxapex. Toxatoxa..." it replies. Unlike the Stufful, most of the vocalizations are just gibberish and don't mean anything.

Mawile makes note and squints at the strange thing Sableye and Charles have pointed out. She crosses between the carts and knocks against the wood to tell the Meganium and Mudsdale to stop.

Sableye hops over, wading and swimming through the river. He almost gets swept away due to his gemlin stature, but he makes it across without any more complications. He is shortly joined by Charles, who is less inconvenienced by the water. The pair inspect the rocks and its surroundings. It's clear these boulders have been dragged back and forth to cover this spot multiple times. Between the gaps, the thing that catches their attention the most is the glimmering purple light.

Charles attempts to shove one of the boulders out of the way, but fails to actually move it. His grip shifts and the rock is repositioned just a bit off to the right. As Sableye is enamored by the strange appearance, he quickly realizes it's not the natural look of the rocks to be purple. Rather, there's light coming from the inside. Embarrassingly, he did almost try to eat a normal boulder.

Stern, however, quickly notes something is off. Instead of the lingering sulfur smell and rather dead wind of the bottom of the chasm, there's almost a strange breeze permeating the area. Almost like there might be a forest...? But that can't be right...

Hey, you guys think this is a secret hideout for that darkness-worshipping cult? I mean, it COULD be another cult, but what are the odds of that, right? Let's see, maybe they've left some sacrilegious iconography in the laundry.
>Sable searches the hoods

>>5541214
Citrine stares at the portal, feeling apprehensive. "Is this what I think it is?"
>>
>>5541214
"Yeah, over here!"
Stern shows the way, with Charles.
"C'mon, let's enter!"
>>
>>5541214
"Uhh, what? Did we just stumble into our objective by coincidence? Well I'll be..." Kaku then notices the very visible portal. "Alright then, I'll wager it's up to me to take the initiative." He puts a hand through, just to test.

Following the group back to the opening, Mawile stares at the boulders as she passes by them, her adventuring instincts kicking in. She takes the lead. "Looks like a couple of 'mons really didn't want anyone else stumbling here." Ducking under the opening as she makes her way through, she eventually meets up with the group at the portal. "What the hell is that?"

She notices the blackened marks on the ground and rushes over, brushing a hand over them. "That's... hm... how?"

>>5541220
>>5541221
>>5541225
Citrine looks into the portal, staring at some sort of forest. The sky is a mix of deep violet and a vibrant purple. Almost like the entire thing was trapped in an eternal twilight. The lack of proper light seemed to make the entire thing give off an eerie yet mystical presence. How could such a thing exist here?

Kaku presses his hand against the portal. It's almost like trying to push through watery glass. However, he is successful and forces the hand through. He almost falls right through, righting himself in time to not tumble head-first into the mystery portal. Kaku's hand feels a cool forest breeze tickling the hairs.

As Sableye turns each of the hoods over, he notes the very familiar emblems of the cultists they met a long while ago. The cloaks also seem to have been here a while, too, if the dust on them indicates anything.
>>
>>5541242
"Kaku, I'm not sure if you should... hmm. It SEEMS right..."
>>
>>5541242
"It's magic!" Poli answers Mawile. Probably poorly. "Should we also enter?"

As Citrine warns Kaku with even some uncertainty in his voice, the Grimmsnarl steps through, pushing his body through the portal. It feels like trying to squeeze your entire body through a pinhole, except all at once! Kaku flops through, stumbling to the ground and on top of the waving purple grass. Everything here smells of forest and teems with an almost fae-like aura, a far cry from the dusty cave he was standing in just moments ago. The far distance is fogged over, making it glow and impossible to see any deeper into the forest.

Looking behind him, he can see the shimmering appearance of Citrine and Stern, but not much else. What is this place?

>>5541263
Astor misses that there is a stick behind him and kicks it up as if it were a carelessly strewn rake. It hits him in the beak! -50HP!

>>5541265
"I guess you could call it magic," Mawile replies, dragging her hand across the surface. "I've never seen it scored so deep, nor it opened for so long." She looks up. "Someone made a Magnagate here, and it's still connected on the other end."

Sableye has also walked over to inspect the marks. He can feel that there is something more to it. As if someone carved into a vein of the world.
>>
>>5541271
"Magnagate? What's that...?"

Astor quickly moves to the side, trying to not look suspicious
>>

Poli nods. "Magic."
>>5541272
"It's... um, a fancy portal, to put it simply. I think." Poli tries to summarize.
>>
>>5541271
Wait, are leylines a thing? This feels like it's messing with the earth itself, like on a spiritual level, you know? I uh... I think we should erase this thing.
>>
>>5541271
>>5541272
"I'm with Stern. That's a new term for me."

>>5541275
"Ah, I see! Thank you, Poli."

>>5541276
"Perhaps we should wait until the others get out?"
>>
>>5541278

>>5541276
>>5541278
Mawile looks up from her inspection to answer Stern. "You won't see them very often. Outlawed by the Federation and all that. They're not something even we try to mess with. And the Expedition Society has gone to places where others definitely shouldn't go."

She snaps to Sableye. "They tap into the leylines and bridge two points between them. But we have no idea where this is going or if it's even safe to close it! Magnagates don't naturally stay open this long. They're also supposed to CLOSE after the Entercards traverse through it."

>>5541284
"Wait, what!? Who went in?" Mawile shouts, spinning to face the portal.
>>
>>5541271
>>5541284
"I was thinking we go in as a group maybe? Isn't this what we're here for?"
>>
>>5541286
"Uh, someone went in? That's not good."
>>
>>5541286
>Sable shrinks from the Mawile, inching closer to Charles
No, I'm telling you, something about this thing feels extremely wrong, like it's messing with things that shouldn't be messed with.
>>5541289
Dude, I'm not going into some weird cult's fantasy-land! They've probably got torturously bad music and really crappy pizza again, and I'm not re-enacting that experience! Just get them outta there and let's close this thing before it gets any worse!
>>
>>5541286
>>5541293
"How asinine! Forbidden magics should be explored." Poli counters.
...he doesn't even enter yet.
>>
>>5541286
>>5541291
"Kaku went in, yes," Citrine says neutrally. "He'll be back."

>>5541293
"They'll just open another, though, no? Then we'll have wasted time."
>>
>>5541297
I'm talking about our guys, not theirs! Leave those creepers in there, for all I care!
>>
>>5541296
Mawile scoffs. "There's a reason why it's banned. 'Mons kept going in and never coming out the other end they were supposed to appear from. It kept happening too often, so the Federation stepped in and started confiscating all of them."

>>5541291
>>5541297
>>5541298
"Quickly try and get him out of there before it becomes a one way trip! Magnagates are only supposed to go in a single direction!" Mawile looks over to Sableye as she approaches the portal. "Who are you talking about, anyway? Cult? Did they do this?"
>>
Rolled 9 (1d20)

>>5541304
"Precisely why I must study it!" Poli declares, approaching the portal and... looking really hard at it.
Maybe he can find a solution? Probably not...
>>
>>5541304
Yeah there's some new cult that hates light, wants to get rid of the sun. They've done at least 5 kidnappings, and then they threw me into their weird dimension of pure darkness where I couldn't see, which usually means that it's some special mystical thing where it's like... soul-smoke or something. I dunno, it doesn't make sense to me, their whole thing just seems self-destructive.
>>
>>5541298
"But the creeps WANT TO be there, and we're supposed to be stopping them, right? And wouldn't they have a way out if they wanted?"

>>5541304
"What he said, mostly. We're kind of pursuing them."
>>
>>5541313
Like I said, they're clearly self-destructive, moreso than the average drug-addled college student, if they wanna sacrifice themselves to their dark god or whatever I say let'em! We should just lock the door and trap them in, cuz from the level of dust around here, they ain't comin' back!
>>
>>5541319
"Not coming back this way, no, Sable, but think about it. What if they're doing something serious? I'm not one to sit around and ignore things, potentially letting them get worse. And I thought you wouldn't be, either, background and whatnot."
>>
>>5541319
"I feel an incredibly strong desire to cause you physical harm." Clearly, a nerve was touched.

>>5541309

Poli is only able to determine it is a glassy portal. Magnagates are beyond him, clearly.

Mawile shakes her head. "They usually always are." She points back to Poli. "Careful! I don't know if you'll get stuck in there just like that 'Kaku!'" she exclaims.

"You're attempting to go after them?" Mawile asks, backing away from the center of the Magnagate. "Look. I think your friend is already stuck in that thing. And yes, Magnagates will eventually spit you out wherever the leyline ends." She sighs. "You'll probably have to go after him if you're trying to catch those weirdos. The most I can do is make sure this end doesn't just suddenly collapse."

"It's not as simple as 'locking this door,' Sableye. Magnagates are complex and I barely even understand them. There used to be this pair who dedicated their lives to studying them, but they vanished one day. If the best can mess up, we'd be over our heads, dammit!" Mawile replies. "Your friend is in that thing, too."

What will Lost Hope do now, faced with a strange circumstance? Hop into the unknown portal to hopefully find those nasty cultists? Find out next time...

+100EXP and +500P. Thanks for being here today, everyone.
>>
>>5541325
I'm not ignoring it, I'm telling you to get Kaku out of there so we can close the fucking thing and trap whatever they're doing in there! I'm not equipped for this right now, I'm not gonna just jump into the deepest pool of shit I've seen in a month and a half, here!

We return to today’s Insomnia quest line…

The swirling cloud of energy and window-like portal wavers in front of you, foreboding and inviting at the same time. How could it be possible such a thing existed all on its own? One of you have already stepped through, and they seem fine… but there’s no going back the way they came. The only choice is to move forward and hope for the best in this strange land.

On the other side of the portal, the forest is certainly an abnormal sight, covered in the light fog. Shrouded in the darkness and purple light of the forever-twilight and a glittering starry sky, it’s clearly a place that shouldn’t exist in normal reality. A Mystery Dungeon, perhaps?
>You feel as if you are being watched.

Mawile is looking around, concerned, mumbling about how this went against everything she knew about Magnagates. It’s clear none of you have the expertise to shutter the portal permanently. Not to mention the fact that it was already an aberration. Also, you wouldn’t close it while your friends were in there, right?

Chapter 38: Insomnia! - The Dreamer's Forest

Your choices:
>Enter the portal.

Brock appears from somewhere, probably taking a nap, and walks into the portal.
"Whoa! Tubular portal bros! Wonder where it goes."
>>
>>5549001

Stepping through to the other side reveals the full scope of the forest and its ethereal glory. And particularly for the Dark-Types of the party, the entire forest feels like it might be out to get them, while also evoking the feeling that everything is just as real as a desert mirage. What a strange feeling.

Currently, you are in a grassy clearing tinted a shade of purple, with the dark trees looming all around. The trunks of the pines are so close together there is no clambering through... except where the trees directly ahead of the portal clear a path for everyone to comfortably move through. Clearly, it's urging you to go forward.

>>5549032
Kaku is able to perceive that something ahead is not right. At least, it won't be alright for whoever steps through first. He's not sure how to properly put the feeling of "specified uneasy premonition targeted at one person" into words. But someone has to walk forward. There are no other ways.

Pressing a hand against the grass and feeling the individual blades of grass makes him think this is nothing but your normal forest grass, thin and voluminous. It makes you think the sky is making everything feel different.

Vee's joyous lust for adventure is replaced by a tinge of uncertainty. He doesn't smile, but doesn't frown as he looks back behind him, no longer seeing Kaku, or Sable, or Charles, or anyone, for that matter.
"On your own, Vee," he whispers to himself. No time to panic or worry, there are bigger things at play for now. He has to continue onward to see how he can get out of this.
"It's your own, personal adventure."

He looks through his scarf, checking his items. Looking out into the twisted forest, he feels a motivation to see just what's going on.

Vee looks around to see what the environment is like. The trees may seem dead, but they may also be animated, and that's something he needs to be weary of before attempting to use them to his advantage. He wanders through the forest carefully and quietly, observing everything he can.
>There has to be something here I can use to figure out what's happening, maybe find safety, or danger...

"Oh... Oh for Koko's sake." Kaku sticks to what he's good at and makes a run for it.

Everyone can hear a voice slithering around their ears. "Don't you feel useless? No one here loves you," something whispers. "You are nothing more but a nuisance to be tolerated by everyone else."

>>5549110
>>5549130
There are no onlookers to pity or hear the Dreepy. He is alone.

The voice continues. "Nothing but a jumbled mess and a tangled mind."

>>5549113
The voice continues. "Nothing but a useless idiot. A whole new reality and you waste it."

>>5549114
>>5549117
Charles keeps running, racing across the dead forest. Eventually he comes to a stop, nothing changing in his sight. Although in front of him, there is a strange depression in the ground.

The voice continues. "Nothing but a fake. Do you really think they believe you to be a friend?"

>>5549118
There is nothing to smell but the ashen rot.

The voice continues. "Nothing but a glutton. You think with nothing but your stomach."

>>5549121
Brock meanders back, passing by the endless dead trees. Eventually, he stops by a depression in the ground.

The voice continues. "Nothing but a poser. They're just using you. You'll be discarded soon enough.

>>5549124
Sable stumbles back, holding tightly to his charm. He fails to notice the dead root and trips backwards, flipping into the gray grass. It's almost like he's being grabbed!

The voice continues. "Nothing but a believer. Do you really think that will help you? Crying for someone who doesn't even care that you exist?"

>>5549126
Lifting the Light Core up, Citrine manages to see something in the distance.

The voice continues. "Nothing but a punching bag. That's all you are to them. A shield to wear itself out."

>>5549128
Cast flies up, hoping to escape and find something to help make some sense! But the further he ascends, he realizes... there's another forest above... him? It does look like he arrived near some sort of depression but... he hasn't gone anywhere.

The voice continues. "Nothing but a fugitive. You can't escape from it. No matter how fast you try to fly."

>>5549132
Vee makes note that everything looks too much the same. Like the whole world is on repeat. It makes his head dizzy trying to get his bearings. There does look to be something close by...

The voice continues. "Nothing but a sham. They'll replace you as soon as they get the chance."

>>5549133
Kaku continues sprinting forward without a concern, attempting to keep to the same direction as when he first entered this weird place. It seems that the dead forest is repeating and that every tree he passes is the same. Maybe if he keeps to it...

The voice continues. "Nothing but a monster. You take their wills away and expect nothing but loyalty. You're no hero."

Poli talks back to the voice. "Maybe! Whose problem is that, again? Not mine!" he declares, an unusually confident move. Vee keeps a careful eye on his surroundings as he takes the world around him in. He writes down each and every difference in his mind as they pop up. The world is different, but the same. It seems impossible, yet...

He is a bit spooked as he hears someone speak to him. After figuring that he won't be able to find it easily, he takes a moment to listen. He doesn't take the words to heart, but the voice IS notable. He converses with it, perhaps in spite of his best interests.
"Replace me with what? After everything we've done so far? Why should I be worried?" Vee's tone is not confrontational or accepting, but interested, as he's in a place he knows nothing about.

In the meantime, he sits, taking in the air. A break is needed as to not overexert yourself too quickly, as he'll soon be moving around with swiftness.

(Unsure if roll is needed, I'm not doing much.)

"Keep up with the false bravado. You know how much better your other half is doing. You could have all that, but you simply vegetate. Pathetic!"

There's a crashing of water and then Poli is hit in the back of the head by a Power Gem.

>>5549160
Kaku keeps running, not letting the voice get to him. "Not the people. They do know better." The forest ahead seems to regain a bit of purple to it.

>>5549162
"Are you sure? They're already there. There is no need to turn something when it's already festering in the depths of your psyche. You know you're just going to be left behind. Did you know they abandoned you here? They didn't even care to look for you."

Charles notes that the depression in the ground doesn't seem very... ground-like. It might be a puddle covered by soot!

He's shortly hit in the face by a chunk of smoldering wood.

>>5549164
>>5549190
"Nothing but a track to run circles around your mind. You're no different now. But go ahead, live carefree and think everything is fine."

The Power Gem soars through the air and vanishes into the object in the distance, almost as if it was absorbed.

>>5549167
The world flips over as Cast darts between the trees. Shattering them. He's back on ground level, somehow. Each time he ascends, he ends up back just above the earth. One of the nearby trees exploded by the Thunder send a chunk of dead wood into a depression. There's an audible splash of water.

>>5549169
Brock is attempting to maintain his composure. He's doing pretty admirably. "Pathetic. Look at you. This is why they left you behind. Did you know that? They left you here. You're not even worth the time to be sought after."

>>5549171
"Haha! Scream it out! Come on! Keep thinking that. Where is your 'creator' now? Not here. You're nothing. Cry your throat hoarse. This is your grave."
Sable holds on, keeping the thoughts at bay. He notices a depression on the ground nearby.

>>5549175
"With a better you. That's all you are really, no one special. There are plenty like you. That's why they never bothered looking the first time."
Vee takes some time to rest and look around. In his rest, he spots a depression on the ground nearby.

>>5549196
"...did you just resort to calling me stupid? Like you'd know whether my thoughts go in circles. Tell me, if you know my mind so well-- what's my favorite move?" Citrine challenges. "Clearly you've done at least some probing. Do some more! I'm thinking about it right now."

Taking his mind off of the voice and towards the depression in the ground, Vee hums quietly to himself, standing up and stretching. With newly-primed muscles, he zips towards the indentation with blinding speed.

He ends up accidentally headbutting Sableye, who was also making his way down to the depression. There's a chance he almost flattens the poor gemlin.

Citrine can see where the Power Gem cut through the caked soot on the surface of the puddle. It looks just like his forest... but there's a blobby green thing in the distance. That might not be a reflection...

It continues speaking to Poli. "Better than being a joke all the time. Look how far he has gone compared to you. Sad, really."

Vee waits and waits, but nothing comes of it. He furrows his brow, annoyed that the voice won't speak to him anymore, while it continues conversing with Brock. He wants to know the answer! "Busy... talking to others... Gh..." He groans and exhales sharply as he clenches the grass under his paws. He stands taller and walks closer, back towards Brock,

Vee breathes normally as he tries to follow the voice he hears from Brock's side, listening intently. The sound of it getting noticeably further from him only further annoys him, growing increasingly downcast and heated over it.

"Can't help the way I was made bro. I just need a lot of sleep. My bros know that." Brock looks around in the vain hope he'll spot his bros "And I'm not that dumb, I just got here. Haven't even done a full shuffle yet."

"...wait, what the fuck? Okay, now that makes no sense. Was that entire thing a cold read? Because you went off the rails, there..." Citrine says to the voice. Which might not be there anymore.
