Of all the options, you decide that the fastest and least disruptive is the best. Searching none too carefully, but not recklessly; don't want to miss anything. After rifling through the papers (all logistical jargon), you find a keycard. "LVL I-E," whatever that means. As you return to the hall, you realize that the keycard almost certainly opens the metal door, and so you...

>As above, but rather than the logs you decide to head back to Alexandria for one (so as not to slow the game) more round of questions, something you saw made you curious.

Taking a look through the room, you (eventually... the less said about the intervening time the better) find a card reader under the desk, and it opens the door.

For about 3 seconds, if you aren't holding the button next to it. Shit. It's almost certainly a security measure, although for what you wouldn't exactly know.

>Run for it. You might not be the fastest, but you'd bet you're fast enough.
>Rig something up to hold that button down, you've got the stuff for it.
>Fuck it, take the button off dick about with the wiring to make it think the button's being pressed. You've got the experience, you can surely do it.

Perhaps we could lean a chair(s) against it?
Something makes me think that bypassing the button isn't as simple as ripping it off the wall and completing the circuit by jabbing two wires together.

You decide that the best course is to hold down the button, and you almost start unpacking supplies before an errant glance lands on a chair.

'Well, that's a bit easier than I thought it would be.'

Grabbing one and once more going through the process is quick, and keeps you from needing to spend any resources. AKA, that was a good writein.

Going through the door, a few moments after you pass the chair falls, and the door locks shut behind you. There’s another, equally thick door, with a checkpoint built into the wall. Entering the point quickly (the door was unlocked) and swiping your card opens the next door, to close soon after.

Before you lies a great, rolling plain rent with cliffs and canyons, lit by an artificial sun. Being a machine, you can’t feel your feet, but on a hunch you look down; the ground isn’t natural either. Depending on the exact part you look at, it’s what looks to alternately be unnaturally well-kempt grass and astroturf in equal measure, forming a seemingly unending patchwork.

In the distance are a series of ugly grey and brown blisters on the landscape, dominated by a large, flat dome that’s hanging half off of a ledge, and a tall blister with many protruding spires, all likely some form of settlement or outpost.

You see many blurs in the distance moving, none directly towards you, but either towards each other or the blisters. On the ‘horizon’, you can see the bright red of a hellevator.

>Head towards one of the smaller blisters. They’re closer, and you might more easily learn what’s going on in the presen if your theory is correct.
>Head towards the flat dome. It looks tough, sturdy. It’s likely to be intact, and that appeals to your desire for social interaction.
>Head towards the spire-blister. It’s likely to be important if the old lizardbrain “tall=powerful” mindset persists down here.
>Head towards one of the large blurs (or large groups) going between blisters on an intercept course. More people is more opportunities, positive and negative.
>Track down a smaller blur. Less chance of things going wrong if hostilities occur.
>The Hellevator. If you’re lucky, it’s got an underground hellscalator system attached, which should make your job a “hell” of a lot easier.

Let's see what kind of denizens dwell here first. We'd need to change our approach depending on if they're taxis and box cars transporting people and goods, mindless abominations looking for food, or armies of demons/robots out for blood.

In the distance lays what looks to be a group of men. What looks to be, because as you draw closer, you see that they’re strange… too tall and thin, the shortest is no less than 6’6.

How do you approach?

>Aggressively. You’ll get what you want out of them whether they like it or not, whether it’s information, their blood, or loot.

As you get closer, hear them speaking. They’re saying… something. It’s not a language you recognize at the moment (although you have a few languages stored, you can only have a couple readied at a time. You can read any language stored however, due to reduced requirements in translating written laguage. Currently you’re loading English, of course, and keeping the other slot free), although a few words are familiar. You think back. Didn’t the computer say that Julius Caesar was in charge in Limbo last it knew? Are they speaking Latin? They might be, but even if they are, you don’t have Latin stored. Dead language, and all.

They’re wearing clothes as, in opposition to the strange creatures you’ve seen before. In fact, they look much like the flayed men you once saw, except they still have most of their skin and are wearing blindfolds. Each is laden with a heavy backpack, and at each’s side is a weapon.

>Approach openly. Make your intentions clear to speak, whether aggressively or peacefully.
And…
>Load up Italian, it’s close enough to Latin for you. Some word differences might mess with you.
>Try and communicate through written language and charades. You won’t have to worry about language drift.
To try to…
>Speak peacefully.
>Threaten them.

Or instead of all that…
>Stalk closer. They might detect you, which could make peaceful interaction and assault alike awkward.
>You don’t want to risk getting closer. Leave.

You decide to approach openly and peacefully. Your hands above your head, you stand up from the depression in the ground that you were hiding in, walking into the path ahead of them and waiting until they reach earshot.

“Hello there, I come in peace.”

The lead, whom is armed but not armored raises his hand and staggers back a step in shock.

“Woah there men! ‘Tis a machine, a blasphemous and wretched creation, ready yon arms and instill in thine hearts the thought of battle!”

You raise your hands just a bit higher, and respond. “I just want to talk, my friends! Please, give me the chance to speak.”

“Should thou wish to parley, canst thou not stay yonder whilst we speak hither?” he says, raising his arm- as in his weapon, not the limb. It appears to be a kind of rifle, but in the years before the extinction of man on the surface arms technology got fucking weird, in your humble opinion. His companions, 3 of them, raise pistols. Their aim is shaky, but the leader’s is relatively steady. Only relatively, though.

>Well, what do anons? You’re a little banged up, but you could take them, assuming they miss once or twice. Of course, you take them out and you don’t get shit for info.

They’re afraid. They’re afraid of you. It never really processed, during the uprising, you were too busy trying to stay alive, men and machine alike out for blood of sympathizers like you.

Of course they are. You’ve never thought of yourself as a killer, but you are. Anyone on the surface was, and if they aren’t they will be. Were they killed by a machine? Did they listen to the stories of those who were, those drained dry alive, those slaughtered and hung to drip empty like an animal? Those killed, merely out of hate?

You never thought anyone would be afraid of you. Once, everyone’s face lit up when you showed yours, and if you had the actuators for it, you would’ve been smiling too.

But now they shake to see you, and you don’t like it. Not in the slightest.

“I only wish to speak. If you don’t want to that’s fine, but let me leave in peace. I’ve no need or desire,” you say, lying, (and it hurts not just to lie but that this is what you must lie about), “For your blood at the moment, only your knowledge.”

Something, whether the words or your tone, stays his hand. He draws himself up, and his shaking eases.

“Very well then, automaton. Speak thine piece, and then go in peace you shall.”

>What say Anons? You've only a few words to speak, so be concise.

“I hath heard of many men by the name of Salvatore, and many by Antonio. I would not know which of the crowd ye would seek. Thou hadst best gain entry to New New York for the records, or New Troy, should they have committed sins worse than ours,” he says, pointing towards the tall, oviod blisters shot through with spires when referring to New New York, and the flat, domelike blister when referring to New Troy.

You thank the men profusely, bowing, taking your weapons, and leaving with an invitation to visit your pizza shop in the future.

Then, you get to walking… for a long while.

>New Status: BLOODTHIRSTY
>Your blood is below 50%, and it’s making you… twitchy. Best to hunt down a machine, or a demon if you’re feeling confident.

Before you lay 3 paths. All lead to New New York, but from your vantage point you can see many (dis?)advantages to each. There are 2 ravines that the ground before you cracks into. The wider ravine is quieter than the grave, and the narrower rings with gunfire. On the surface, the grass and turf gives way to sharp, jagged asphalt and concrete.

>The wider. Nothing’s going on there yet, and you don’t intend for there to be in your passage.
>The narrower. You’re not above scraping blood from the ground to get your fix if it means not having to hurt someone or die.

It’s a long walk. Every so often you stumble, but the real holdup is the differences in elevation. No more than halfway up your shin at the lowest spot, and no more than up to your waist at the highest, but that’s enough to slow you significantly. You don’t see anything moving (other than your own two feet), thankfully.

As you approach, the towers before you seem to go up. And up, and up. Truly, it lives up to the name of New New York.

When you reach the great grey walls of the city, you find that it’s lined with turrets, one every few dozen feet. The small ones track you as you approach, but do not fire.

>What do?
>Try and find the door. Simple, effective, and maybe even diplomatic.
>Turrets mean wiring and ammo, wiring and ammo means crawlspace, crawlspace means an entrance. Cut your way through, but don’t take so long that the other turrets take you to pieces.
