Long ago, on a planet called Earth, the greatest martial artist of his time made the ultimate sacrifice to seal away the most fearsome tyrant the world had ever seen. Master Mutaito gave his life to put an end to the threat that the Demon King Piccolo posed to the world. Our story, however, begins before even that...>What is this? This is a story following the adventures of a youth on Earth from pre-dragonball times, where we assume the role of a character inserted into Age 440 - when even characters like Roshi and Shen were foolish youths. It is currently Age 449.>How does this work?Just roll the dice I call for, simple as. Current pool is 4d50 in each field, but it could be subject to change later in the thread depending on how things go.>Who are we playing?Wyald Honta, a 19-year-old hybrid of Human and Tiger-beastman who set out to explore the world in order to sate the call of his blood. Normally with his hybrid nature, he would age quicker than humans yet slower than other beastmen, but he has managed to sidestep this issue thanks to ingesting Paradise Herbs. He has a strong moral compass, a polite and friendly demeanour, but an unforgiving side when it comes to those who commit evil. He's slowly evolving his own fighting style with every master he trains under, and he almost always journeys with his three friends: Azalea, Barbar, and Harum.>Last time on Dragon Ball: LegacyYou defeated Baba's last two warriors and were able to learn about four things from her: How to extend your lifespan, who you need to meet in order to become the greatest possible Martial Artist, where to find a plethora of powerful enchanted items, and that sometime in Age 461 Kami's apprentices would both be responsible for a cataclysmic event. After a happy reunion with Yang, you ultimately made the trip to Kami's Lookout to meet with the Guardian of Earth and get a read on his two apprentices, Garlic and Piccolo. You opted to train under garlic to both unlock your potential to use magic, and to get a better read on him and his role in the upcoming events. During your a year and a half undertaking Garlic's traumatic training, your relationship with Love unfortunately came to an end thanks to the distances involved. After the training, you discovered a malicious enchanted item known as the Black Water Mist in Garlic's castle and gave it to Kami as evidence of his foul nature. When called on his misdeeds, Garlic proved unwilling to go quietly, and you ended up slaying him with Kami's aid. You entered into a new relationship with your oldest friend Azalea in the wake of such events and discovered one of the perks of being an adult. Soon after, you left the Lookout towards the Forest of Terror, where you conquered your fears and obtained the legendary Paradise Herbs.>Archivehttps://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Dragon%20Ball%20Legacy>Character Sheethttps://pastebin.com/a6UWzH2p
For once, you don't opt to immediately set off, wanting to take a small break after the near heart-attack you got from seeing the creature of your nightmares trying to manifest physically on Earth. After passing once more through the threshold that originally lead you into the otherworldly location that the Forest of Terror is contained within, you find yourself fully back in the world of the living - the plants are green and plentiful, the sun is warm and shining brilliantly, and the waves lap softly at the sandy shores. You and Azalea both breathe out a sigh of relief at seeing the world back to its normal state, and you head over to the shore to take a seat and watch the horizon for a bit. It's quiet for a few moments, just two friends enjoying a moment of relaxation, before you opt to break the silence. "Hey, I never really asked...how long do Fairies live for, anyways?" You prompt, looking over to the diminutive form of your fairy friend sitting similarly in the warm sand."I'unno!" She says with a simple shrug. "I don't think I've ever really heard of any of us dying of old age. Then again, we're pretty easy targets if we're not hidden or if we get careless. You already know about that though, huh?" She says, poking the side of her cheek and sticking her tongue out at you. You, of course, oblige her by sticking yours out right back at her."Yeah. I didn't really expect to run into that troll again, but it looks like you fared a lot better against him this time." You comment, turning your gaze back towards the incoming waves of seawater."Well, my magic wasn't able to punch through it for some reason, but avoiding it? Easy peasy lemon squeezy! Climbing that nasty kittycat's tower was a lot harder." She says with a giggle."Your magic seemed pretty strong to me! It was like a true hurricane when you amplified my whirlwind." You respond after a moment's consideration. "Uh-huh! That's because my brand of magic works best at reinforcing what's already there. Or reducing it, for that matter, but that's not as useful in most situations!" She explains briefly, before continuing on. "Mr. Popo did help me to learn a lot about other fields of magic, though. And he's REALLY good with enchantment, you should see half of the things he's made over the years! Like a sentient flying carpet that can teleport anywhere on earth. That one's got a lot of layers to it, it's crazy." She continues, babbling away on the minutiae of magic. She keeps on talking away on the subject, and unlike the last time you got on the subject, you can actually keep up with the ideas and terms she's throwing out. You're content to let her keep talking with only a few questions or prompts to continue from yourself, though after a while the subject switches to interesting and strange factoids about flora around the world. Before you even know it, the sun is starting to set, and after it finally hides behind the horizon the two of you fall asleep on the beach.
Of course, you somewhat regret the decision come morning when you wake up to find sand in every possible hidden spot on your clothes. Thankfully for you though, it's a pretty simple matter to take a dive in the tropical ocean to wash everything off, and then a quick burst of power dries you in an instant by blasting the excess water off of yourself. When Azalea points out that you could have used your Immaterial Form spell to do the same thing in fewer steps, you can't help but sheepishly rub the back of your head in embarrassment. She does renew your confidence with some extra fun that mirrors what happened two nights ago, but that just results in you having to clean up again...this time with the quicker method. Once you have the time to, you start to consider your next move. You have a bag full of paradise herbs, and you want to at least get a single leaf over to Kami in order to restore his lifespan to what it would have been prior to garlic - it probably wouldn't be wise to dally on such things and get distracted with other tasks. With that in mind, you call over the Flying Nimbus and spend at least half an hour coaxing it into letting you back on, clearing your mind of impurities in the process. Once that's done with, you fly all the way back over to Korin's tower, making a brief stop to ask Master Korin if he needed or wanted any of your harvest. He declines, of course, citing that he's biologically immortal thanks to being born in the Otherworld. You didn't actually know that, but you suppose it makes sense! After climbing back up to the Lookout, you enter the audience chamber and bow your head to Kami."Lord Kami, I've returned with some Paradise Herbs. Are you certain you only want one leaf...?" You ask of him, hoping he may have changed his mind over the last day. He chuckles, and gives a nod."Just one, yes. You are far kinder than most to endure such trials as what awaits in the Forest of Terror and willingly offer your bounty to others. Why, with what you've gathered, you could easily live for two or three thousand years..." He comments, gesturing for you to come closer. You do so, fishing out a single leaf and placing it in his hand. To your surprise, Kami is the one to bow his head to you now. "Never lose the kindness in that heart of yours, Honta. Once you do, you may find that you'll never get it back, no matter how pure you become. Even I could not reclaim mine once I hardened my heart to the world." He says in a sagely manner.
He sits back and places the leaf within his mouth. After chewing it thoroughly and swallowing, you can feel his power surging back up to what it was prior to the fight with Garlic - perhaps just a touch higher, even - before it settles back down. His breathing is immediately less laboured, as your sharp senses pick up, and his skin regained some of its lost color. "Ahh, that's much better...I won't have to hold back, now. Training can resume its normal schedule, but more importantly, I can keep watch over the world as diligently as ever." He states with satisfaction, clenching his hand into a fist in front of himself. "You look great!" You say, flashing him a thumbs-up and your trademark cheesy smile. It earns a slight smirk from him, and he gestures to your satchel."What do you intend to do with the rest of the cuttings? I suspect I already know, of course..." He asks, to which you nod with a chuckle."I'm an easy to get guy, I can admit that. Yeah, I'm going to share it with my friends and family. And my friend's families, if we can find them. I'd hate to lose anyone I care about, you know?" You confess, patting the bag fondly. Kami's smile seems just a touch sadder at your answer, though you can't really place why."Well, more time never really hurt anyone in the end." Kami admits, before he seems to have a sudden thought. "Speaking of which, now that I personally have more time, I was wondering if you would like to reconsider the offer to become one of my apprentices again. Your heart is still, by far, the closest one to a pure state...and I have about twelve years left in me to find a successor. If neither Piccolo nor Barbar can meet the requirements by then, the role of Guardian must go unfilled until Mr. Popo can find someone appropriate...and it would be wiser to have that be someone I've personally trained. You by no means have to accept, of course...but the offer is there." He says. While his demeanour seems relaxed, you can't help but feel like he's hoping you'll accept.
While you do like the idea of training under Kami, you're not sure that you actually want to take up the responsibilities involved in being a Guardian of Earth, even if that would be years from now. Although it would put you in a position to get closer to Piccolo, whose role in the upcoming cataclysm you still haven't really pieced together. Did you avert it already, perhaps? It's impossible for you to tell, at least without talking to Baba again. Decisions, decisions...>You'll take him up on his offer, but you'll need a few days. You still need to give some Paradise Herbs to your family, and the friends you have that aren't up here with you. Potentially being Earth's next Guardian sounds like the perfect job for a guy like you!>You declined the offer, because the idea of becoming a Guardian felt like a little too much for you, and you felt you could afford to spend some more time exploring this world and potentially the otherworld before settling in with another Master.>You made a counteroffer: You'd train with him, but you wanted him to take preference for his other apprentices if they met the requirements at the time of his passing. You value Kami's knowledge and experience, but don't necessarily want his job.All choices give you some time to visit friends/family in other places. On a separate note, good to see y'all again, and I hope this ends up as another great thread!

Update comes tomorrow.
"I'd love to train with you, of course! But...to be completely honest with you, I'm not that interested in becoming the next Guardian of Earth. When the time comes, I'd like it if you prioritized Barbar and Piccolo over me, if more than one of us meets the requirements." You admit, rubbing the back of your head sheepishly. Kami sits forward in his throne, adopting his favored stance of resting his chin atop his fist as he quietly humms in consideration."Very well. But if neither of them prove adequate by then, but you do, then I ask that you at least temporarily take up the position until you find a suitable replacement." He concedes to your stipulation, though adding another of his own."I can live with that, if it means learning under the great Kami!" You say with a grin, before realizing something. You pop a fist down onto your palm in a gesture that mimics your sudden thoughts. "Oh, but I'll need a few days before I start! I really want to get these herbs out to everyone I know, first." You say."Is that so...? Well, time is ticking. If you ask Mr. Popo, I'm sure he would be willing to get you where you're going quicker than what you can manage alone." He suggests."Oh! That's right, he has that magic carpet!" You say, popping your fist down yet again. "Yeah, that'll save me a lot of time! Thanks again for everything, Lord Kami." You say, earning a chuckle from the venerated guardian and a gesture that waves you off. Per his wishes, you leave the audience chamber, but it wouldn't do for you to immediately head off - after all, there's still people up here you want to stick around with you for a few hundred years. It's pretty easy for you to find Barbar, thanks to your honed sensory abilities. He seems to be meditating on the upper area of the Lookout's central building, his eyes closed when you climb the stairs up to him. He appears to be quite serene, and though your mischievous side almost wants to test just how aware he is of his surroundings with a mild prank or two, you resist the childish urge in favor of concluding your business sooner than later."Hey Barbar! I've got something for you." You say, earning a grumble from the older man as he opens up one eye to peer at you with."Mm?" He responds in a specific tone, which you've come to understand means something along the lines of 'I didn't even know you were away. What do you have?' in his natural tongue. Naturally, you respond in the direct manner he prefers, producing some of the Paradise Herbs you procured yesterday. His second eye opens as he looks at them with curiosity - you can sense the unseen question of what it is.
"These are the Paradise Herbs I asked Baba about. I've already had some, but if you eat some too, it'll extend your natural lifespan by a few hundred years at the very least! Want any?" You explain, offering what's in your hand to him. His eyebrows furrow momentarily, before he decides to take it from you with a nod. He shoves the leaves into his mouth, chewing for a few seconds before he swallows it."Bitter." Is all he really says, but you can tell it's one of his usual jokes. Naturally, you chuckle in response."I thought they were pretty good, personally! Not my favourite for tea, but it'd do for a decent cup." You say."...I was supposed to put it in tea?" He asks, getting another laugh from you. You deign not to answer him, in your deviousness, and walk off knowing full well that you did exactly the same thing he did. Though, now that you're thinking about it, it honestly wouldn't be too bad as a tea...Your next target is an obvious one, being Harum. His and Piccolo's energies are close to one another in the sparring chamber, and while his own energy is going as high as you're certain he can currently manage, Piccolo's is restrained by quite a considerable amount to be as close to even with Harum's as possible. When you enter the room, cautiously of course, it's to the sight of the Mentor and Student pair facing off against one another in close combat, testing their skills alone against one another in an intricate dance of blows, parries, blocks, and dodges. It's closer than you initially thought it would be, only thanks to Piccolo restraining himself of course, but in the end the Master overtakes his pupil by taking advantage of his strange biology and wrapping his shockingly stretchy and flexible arm around Harum's leg during a dodge. From there on, it's all over, as Piccolo slams him to the ground and quickly puts him in a submission hold that doesn't allow the Gorilla-man to exert enough force to free himself. You clap once the fight ends, having enjoyed the end of the bout you saw. "That was great! You're both becoming really skilled fighters, you know." You compliment. While Harum takes it in stride with a weary smile as he often does, Piccolo grunts and turns away to brush the dust off his robes, not bothering to acknowledge your existence beyond as much. Such an antisocial character, this guy..."Hey, Honta! What brings you over today?" Harum asks, dabbing his face with a towel emblazoned with Kami's symbol. Widening your stance, you produce the leafy greens you've been pushing today, going over-the-top with the presentation of course."Well, it just so happens that I've got...THIS! The Paradise Herbs I asked Fortuneteller Baba about!" You proclaim, grinning. Harum's eyes widen as you continue. "Just this much can extend your natural lifespan by a whole bunch, so I thought I'd offer some to you! And a little extra, for Momma Harum too."
"Woah, no way! That's why you're the best, bro! How are you supposed to eat it?" He asks, while Piccolo glances over his shoulder at the two of you with piqued curiosity."Everyone I've given it to just puts it in their mouth, chews it up, and swallows it. Seems to work just fine like that!" You admit, as Harum takes the two shares you offer him. With a shrug, he pops it into his mouth and does exactly as you said, expression clearly giving away the fact that he's judging it like he would any food."Not bad, it's...minty! Honestly, it'd go great in a milkshake." He says, giving his stamp of approval."Who else did you give it to?" Piccolo asks, suddenly. You glance over at him, trying to judge his intent for a few moments before you decide to answer."Barbar and Kami, so far." You reply. Nobody says anything for a few moments, before you catch the slightest smirk at the edges of Piccolo's mouth."Good. The old man could use it, after he tried to punch outside of his league. How much did he have?" He asks, making you very briefly wonder which one of the two he's talking about considering the advanced age of both people. It clicks for you soon enough, of course."Oh, Kami? He only wanted a single leaf, just enough to restore what he lost in the fight. I tried to convince him to have some more, but he outright refused it." You reveal, and Piccolo's smirk quickly turns into a deep frown."Damn it. Once he sets his mind on something, he won't change his decision for anything short of a miracle." He mutters, before he clenches a fist and raises his other hand to point at you. "At least you have enough sense to fix the issues you cause. Just don't get in my way. I'm going to be the next Kami, so don't distract him any more than you already have. My training is far more important than any of the petty nonsense that follows you." He warns, before heading out of the door."Eheheh...h-he likes you, probably! Deep down, he's not such a bad guy. He's just...very serious. Kind of like Barbar, but more intense." Harum says with a nervous laugh. You can kind of see it, and wonder what the silent interactions between the two must be like."Oh, I didn't get the chance to tell him...he's not gonna like it when I start training with Kami alongside him..." You mumble mostly to yourself, once you realize that he left before you could say. Ah well, he'll find out eventually. With all of that done, you finally make your way over to Mr. Popo, ready to deliver some life-changing products right to your parent's doorsteps. You only hope they're not TOO mad about the whole 'gone-for-nine-years' deal...>Four anons, roll 1d50 for me. You must soothe the wrathful spirits of mom and dad. Your DC? 35.

I'm actually a little bit backed up on things, due to being extra busy the past two days! Sorry lads, but the update isn't ready yet. It'll be out tomorrow. "Hey, Mr. Popo!" You greet the portly attendant, who smile and waves at you on your approach. "Lord Kami said that you could help me go somewhere pretty quickly. Would you mind taking me to my parent's house?" You ask him, which makes you realize that you don't actually have a place of your own yet. Honestly, you've either been camping out in places or relying on the kindness of others for shelter. Perhaps something you'll change later, it wouldn't do to be a bum forever..."Of course, it would be my pleasure. Please wait one moment." Mr. Popo replies, putting his fingers on either side of his mouth and blowing a sharp whistle. Seemingly from nowhere, a floating carpet flickers into existence just in front of you and Popo. He takes a step up onto its center, and offers his hand down to you. Naturally, you take it and step up onto the carpet as well. "This will only take a second." He advises."Should I hold-" You start to say, before the world around you flickers just like the carpet did. In the blink of an eye, the lookout is replaced with the familiar sights you had started to forget the details of - the simple and rustic village houses you grew up around surrounded by countless verdant trees. "-On to something? Oh." You finish saying, not having expected the trip to be as instantaneous as it was. You look around a bit wide-eyed at your surroundings, taking in all those familiar sensory inputs. The scent carried on the breeze is a nostalgic one, of the pies your mother used to make, and it couples with the sound of the nearby babbling brook to take your mind on a nostalgic trip to the past. You step off the carpet, looking over at your family's house in particular. It's the same as it ever was as far as you can tell, thanks to your resourceful parents doing well to maintain it and protect it from the usual ravages of time. Nervously, you step up to the door, and do as you were taught to: you knock on the door."I'll get it! Coming~!" The voice of your mother calls out in a singsong manner. You swallow, feeling anxious about how this could go - you really shouldn't have put this off for as long as you did. Will they be mad? Well, you did write to them as often as you could, and they did usually write back - although that did become a lot harder once you were up on Kami's Lookout. Maybe you should try this another Day.The door opening breaks you out of your thoughts, and for the first time in nine years you see your Mother. Surprisingly, she looks the same as she did the day you left, like she hasn't aged a day; time treated her well, it seems. Even more surprisingly, for you at least, is that you actually tower over her with your adult height...you were about up to her eyes when you first set out. She seems to be equally shocked as she looks up at you, eyes as wide as saucers and mouth agape.
"H-Honta!" She cries out as soon as she breaks the stupor, throwing herself forward to pull you into a tight hug. If you weren't as strong as you were today, it might have even cracked a few ribs with how much strength she puts into it."Honta's back?!" You hear your father call out from the back. You hear some scrambling around as he rushes to the door, and you can see that unlike your mother, he certainly HAS changed - he's filled out a good bit, being a lot pudgier...uh, fluffier than you remember. His fur also has a plethora of gray hairs in it, though it's far from being all grayed, and his whiskers are phenomenally long. As soon as he rounds the corner and sees you, he throws himself into the mix as well, pulling you AND your mother into a huge bearhug. You hug them both back, of course, and once everyone is finally done with the tearful reunion (which is quite literal, in your mother's case, as she now seems to be sniffling) you take a step back from the hug and bow sharply to them."I'm sorry that I was away for so long." You apologize, feeling that a more in-depth explanation would be both unnecessary and out of place here. They already know the circumstances that kept you away, after all."Y-You better be! My baby is all grown up! Without me!" Your Mom says, sounding like she's about to sob, before your pops takes advantage of her lowered guard to distract her and pick her up bridal style."Now now, this isn't the time to worry about things like that." He soothes her, before gesturing inside with his head. "Come on in, my boy. We can talk over some pie - freshly baked, and it's our favorite. The only place in the world you can find some good Watermelon Pie." He offers, which you naturally take him up on. Stepping inside, you see that the decor really hasn't changed much, though there's a clearly a wooden box full of everything you've ever sent them sitting on one of the tables. After he plops Mom down onto the couch, Pops cuts you a slice of the nostalgic pie and hands it to you. Taking a bite, you savor the familiar flavor - truly it is a feat beyond most to make Watermelon into an appealing pie. You don't think even you could replicate the pie without strictly following the recipe, and you don't exactly know your mother's recipe for it...only bits and pieces of the process you helped her with, once upon a time."Oh man, this is great! You should teach me the recipe for this sometime." You say to Mom, who beams proudly.
"If it's not great, I didn't make it! But enough about pie, tell me about everything you've been up to! We've read the letters, but that's nothing compared to hearing it straight from the tiger's mouth." She says, urging you to tell your tale. And so, for the next hour or so, you do...you have a good back and forth with them, and you don't even have to embellish the fights at all to make them entertaining - high level fights like those you get into are simply fantastic in nature when compared to the things that normal people would be able to accomplish. You even show them a little bit of what you can do with your ki and magic, wowing them in the process. When all that is said and done, you pull your pouch up on to your lap and go to open it up. "And that's what brings me here - I have some of those herbs, right here!" You say, reaching in. As you pull out a handful of Paradise Herbs, however, a sleepy looking azalea flutters out of the pouch and rubs the tiredness out of her eyes - it seems she was taking a nap in there."Oh! This must be that little fairy friend you've told us so much about!" Your Mom says, clasping her hands together excitedly. "I only saw a fairy once before!"Your mind works overtime for a moment as you consider how to approach this. You didn't actually tell them about your relationships yet, having glossed over such things in favor of more important parts of your journey, but you would have to assume that they might want to know about such things. But would they judge you for it at all? You don't think they would, but who knows. More importantly, would they treat Azalea any differently if they knew her as your Girlfriend instead of just your Friend?"Ohhh! Hi! You two feel like Honta does!" Azalea pipes up, waving at your parents. It looks like you don't have much more time to think, you gotta introduce them to each other now! Try not to put your foot in your mouth, Honta!>Just introduce her as you would any of your friends, leave out the details of your relationship! You're weak to teasing, and you don't know for sure how they'd react to her after.>Bite the bullet, introduce her as your friend-turned-girlfriend. You will DEFINITELY be subjected to parental teasing. And you're sure that they'd like her, what's not to like?

"I guess some proper introductions might be in order. Azalea, this is my Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad, this is Azalea." You start, before swallowing the lump in your throat. "W-We're actually dating now, after being friends for so long." You admit, glancing over to your parents to gauge their reaction. Mom's eyebrows have shot up so high in surprise that you're surprised they're still on her face, while Dad has a hand cupping his chin with a contemplative expression on his face."How does that work when you-" Your Father starts to say, before your Mom grabs a pillow off the couch and starts smothering him with it, interrupting what he was going to ask."If you finish that sentence, they won't find the body, dear~!" Your Mother threatens, though she clearly doesn't mean it. Azalea clearly finds it pretty funny though, laughing at their antics, while you're caught looking between them with a bit of confusion."Alright, alright! I'll keep it PG, yeesh." Your old man says, once he finally manages to pry the pillow from his face. This mollifies your mother for a minute, who sets it aside and only shoots him a momentary glare before returning her gaze back to you and Azalea with a warm smile on her face."Your Father's nonsense aside, that's wonderful to hear! I suppose you couldn't stay my little baby forever...especially not with how fast you grew up." She says softly, before you get a hint of something malicious in the air. "That being said, there is a tradition we have to follow here. Let me show you my little cub's pictures from when he was just a babe!" She continues, clapping her hands together as her gaze shifts to Azalea. What follows can be described as nothing short of psychological torture, as you're subjected to about an hour of your Mother and Father showing your fairy friend a number of pictures and stories of you in completely embarrassing scenarios. Everything from getting absolutely covered in mud and tracking it all over the house to getting stung on the nose by a bee and having a massive nose as a result to the terrible attempts at pouncing on literally everyone in the village...you were kind of a mischievous little scamp before your parents drilled manners and politeness into you, huh? You kind of forgot about that point in your life, admittedly. Regardless, after they've had their fill of bonding with your girlfriend at your expense, which of course left you beet red and steaming where you sat, you finally steer them back on track to what you came here to do in the first place."M-Moving on from all of T-THAT...I came here to give you these! They're the Paradise Herbs that Fortuneteller Baba told me about! If you eat them, it'll extend your natural lifespan. I know I was gone for a while, and I'll be gone for a while longer, but I'll make up for it eventually - nine years will seem like nothing after a few hundred, right?" You manage to say.
"Oh my!" "My word..." Your parents gasp as you present them with the colorful leaves."I've already had some myself, so I can advocate for how effective they are. I don't know if they'll stop ageing though...maybe, maybe not." You continue, beaming proudly as your dad reaches out to take one of the leaves you offered."So with just this, I can live as long as long as everyone else? Longer, even?" He asks, his voice a little shaky. You give him a nod, and he struggles to hold back the tears that want to form in the corners of his eyes. "I've got the best son in the world..." He says, apparently feeling that same relief that you felt when you got your hands on it as well - if not even more relief, since he was a full beastman and was considerably older than you...though you don't really know by how much. He throws his arms around you and pulls you into another hug, ruffling your hair thoroughly with one of his meaty hands."I get it, I get it!" You laugh out, pulling away from the hug after it goes on a few seconds too long for your liking. "To think that there are treasures like this out in the world...perhaps it's not such a bad thing that you went out adventuring." Your mother says, staring at the herbs with wonder. After a few moments, she pulls her gaze from it and back to you. "By the way, did you dye your hair to be like that?" She asks, changing the subject quite suddenly."A-ah? No, actually, this happened after that moment I told you about when I was fighting my last master, Garlic. It hasn't changed at all since then, so I think it's just stuck like this naturally now." You admit, glancing over to your father to notice him actively puffing up with pride."Attaboy! Ya finally earned your stripes, just like your old man!" He beams, before your mother deflates him by poking him in the side."You were born with your stripes, dear." She points out, earning a chuckle from him."That just means I earned 'em in my past life, that's all!" He claims, causing her to roll her eyes at him."I wonder if he'll get all furry too, if he gets even madder some day." Azalea ponders aloud, causing you to imagine it."I really hope not, that'd be a lot of work to take care of. You should see the house when it's shedding season." Your mother says with a dead-eyed stare that tells you of the gruesome wars she's had against loose fur."Yeah, but then he'd be all fluffy and warm!" Azalea posits."She gets it!" Your dad says, pointing at her. "See, it's a positive!" He continues, like he just won an argument.
"I'll admit, it has its uses during winter..." Your mother concedes, before shaking her head. "But at any rate, I would rather my little Honta not get involved in anything that could trigger such a thing in the future. It's so dangerous, this way of life, you know! I know it won't deter you, just...don't be too reckless, okay? For my sake, if nothing else." She asks of you. You give a firm nod, placing a hand on her shoulder."I'll do my best to stay safe. I promise." You say, fully intending to keep good on such a promise."Always a relief to hear. So, where are you plannin' to head off to next on your adventures?" Your pops asks, leaning forward with a curious expression."Well, I was actually going to train under Kami for a while after I finished delivering these herbs." You admit. Though it does have you momentarily consider something - who should you give some, if you want to give any to more than your parents?>Write-in a list of characters that you've met that you'd like to deliver Paradise Herbs to. Choose wisely!I can list ALL them out if you'd like, but I might miss one or two by accident.
>>5652765Roshi and Shen, obviously, and Yang. Uh, not sure if we're really close with anyone else we haven't already given some too? The Baes are covered, and Barbar...
>>5652765>>5652778+1 and Master Muitato of course
>>5652765Well there's Yang Gill, Ahl DeMann, Mutaito, Roshi, Shen, Love Shiro Teal, Gen Teal, the Anthroplogist Stranger we saved from the curse (I think her name is Tento Mushi?), Korin (though he probably doesn't need them, still nice to make sure).I'm probably forgetting a few, please help me out lads.
>>5652785Obviously you're missing your best friend, the unnamed guy who runs the Demons Will Weep shop. And who could forget Jack, that one guy you fought in an illegal fighting ring that tried to kill you with lightning? And the similarly unnamed village elder at the base of Korin's Tower. And the even MORE unnamed character that served as your first boss in the kitchens. He didn't even get a description! And that news reporter lady! And Baba's fighters who are all just as unaging as Korin is!That's a pretty comprehensive list tho, thumbs up from me.
>>5652787Don't forget the old lady Harum stole the purse from!>the unnamed guy who runs the Demons Will Weep shop>JackMakes me wonder how much they'd pay or what they'd give in exchange to get their hands on some Paradise Herbs. Maybe something to think about for the future.
>>5652790DAMN, there's always one you forget!
>>5652783Muitato is a good pick...>>5652785Ahl DeMann, too. However, Love and Gen? that... Gets complicated. We should offer, but they're rulers of a country. What happens if we make such people immortal? Do we trigger a crisis of succession?
>>5652763The guy who runs the Demons Will Weep shop seems like good reciver. Him living longer means more badies sealed or destroyed.Him and Muitato basicly are my 2 picks.
Caught up to this quest in the archives after I saw it in the catalog. Interesting premise, and I think Honta's journey is pretty cool. The Garlic fight's prolly my favorite so far>>5652765I think Roshi or Shen would either get the herbs on their own time or want to earn it themselves. But I want to give it to the Demons Will Weep guy, and then Mutaito
Just Mutaito. Roshi and Shen have plenty of time, and the more people we split it among the less each person gets.
>>5652765Master Muitato and Ahl DeMann since they are older. Maybe Gen teal too? He can rule as a king for some extra years.Yang could probably use the herbs in her potions.
>>5652797That's definitely a factor worth considering. The long-term ramifications of whoever you choose should always be considered. To make an example other than the one you already gave, giving Ahl more than the 80 years he's spent on his craft means he'll have a lot more time to work his magic...literally. Which could be good, or could go bad potentially.>>5652992True. A satchel's worth can get depleted fairly quickly if you distribute it amongst enough people. And you'll probably want to wait a while before getting more herbs, just so you don't deplete all of the plants there without giving them time to repopulate.
>>5652765Ahl, Yang, and Mutaito. But tell Roshi and Shen about herbs, so that they can get some themselves.I'm a bit conflicted about giving some to Love and Gen. I suppose we could offer. And I want to eventually give some to Tento Mushi, since it gives us an excuse to go on an adventure to meet her again.
>>5653283If we go after the dragon, we will probably have the chance to see Tento, since she lives in the island right next to it
I read the story of Honta from the beginning after discovering this threat and I fucking love it! here's my first contribution>>5652765Yang, Mutaito and the guy from the Demons Will Weepand also tell Roshi and Shen about the Paradise Herbs
>>5652765Yang, old wizard dude, and Love
>>5652778>>5652783>>5652797>>5653069>>5653283>>5653335>>5654122Alright, now that I know what characters people in general want, we can get to more specifics that can be counted in an easier way. The interest in one of them was more than I expected, to say the least! Also I'm straight exhausted after a physical assessment, so this is as good excuse as any to delay until tomorrow. But you didn't hear it from me.Choose YES or NO on EACH of the following:>Mutaito>Yang Gill>Ahl DeMann>Gen Teal>Love Teal>The proprietor of Demons Will WeepAnd you'll give Roshi and Shen a heads up about them. It'll be a good adventure for 'em.
>>5654276>Mutaito>Yang Gill>Ahl DeMannYes>Gen Teal>Love Teal>The proprietor of Demons Will WeepChanged my mind about Gen Teal. Having a kind rule for a hundred years might be a bad idea. "I plan on giving some to some old friends and one of my previous masters. Maaaybe seeing if that guy from the Demons Will Weep shop wants to trade anything good for some - he seemed like he had a lot of interesting stuff stashed away..." You finish saying, deliberating for a few moments on the last point. Well, it doesn't hurt to at least check - you're pretty sure that they'd be useful even if he might not directly benefit from them. "You've gotten pretty thrifty, huh? Well, when you're done with that, tell Kami we said hi." Your pops responds, before leaning over to your mother and whispering "I can't believe Kami is actually real..." to her. Your sensitive ears pick it up pretty easily, of course."Promise me one thing before you leave!" Your mom speaks up, moving to cup her hands over your own. "Visit us more often! Just on the weekend is fine, but no disappearing for years at a time! If you don't agree to that...then I'll have no choice but to ground you!" She threatens."Ahahah...yeah, alright! I think I can swing that with Kami and Mr. Popo. I really am sorry about that, but I didn't really have the means to make the trip back in a timely manner until now." You respond sheepishly, which your mother seems to accept with a huff. She pulls you into another hug, before releasing you."Good! I'll even make plans for it, so you better show up or I'll come up there to scold you AND Kami. Now go on, we've taken up enough of your time today - we'll see you on the weekend, pumpkin." She replies. You give her a nod, and stand up with a stretch."Who knows, maybe I'll end up teaching you - or at least pa - how to use ki someday. You better get ready for it, it's not easy! Better limber up." You say, taking note of the hint of fear in your father's expression and suppressing your devious snicker. You head out the door right after, waving over your shoulder and adding a "Catch you soon!" to your parents. Once outside, you close the door and take a moment to internalize the feeling of your childhood home again, inhaling deeply to savor the smells of the village. When you exhale, you turn to Mr. Popo, who seems to have been patiently waiting for you with his arms behind his back."It seems as though the trip was worthwhile. Is that all, or do you have any more destinations in mind, young man?" Mr. Popo asks you, with one of his usual cordial smiles on his face."H-Have you just been waiting like that the whole time?" You ask, which has Popo tilting his head slightly while maintaining the same expression."No, of course not. I occupied myself by tending to some of the gardens around the village. They're quite well cared for, but have room for improvement." He comments, before summoning his carpet once more with a thought and holding his hand out to you. You take his hand and step up, of course, with Azalea on your shoulder once more.
"Ah, of course. Uh, yeah, can you take me to Mutaito's Academy next? It's just outside of west city." You say, getting a nod from Popo. Just like before, the world around you flickers briefly before changing entirely to the entrance of the Academy, the carpet having transported all of you instantaneously. It's still a little disorienting, but at least you were expecting it this time! You hop off of the carpet once more and look around, before your ears pick up the sound of students training; running through the katas most likely.Heading through the entrance, you can feel Mutaito's energy - it actually feels less powerful than your own currently, but undeniably more controlled and level. You head right over to it, seeing him indeed overseeing the training of his disciples, many of which are new faces to you. To your surprise, Roshi and Shen are training as far apart from one another as possible, not so much as glancing in each other's direction for whatever reason...a mystery you'll have to get to in a bit. You patiently wait for the training session to end, not wanting to interrupt them rudely, and you can see that the older students that you're familiar with have been making excellent progress. Once Mutaito holds a hand up to signal a stop, you walk up to him, raising a hand in greeting. "Yo!" You call out, grinning. "You're looking well, Master Mutaito!"Mutaito turns to face you, wrinkling his mustache a bit before grinning back at you and mirroring the gesture. "Young Honta, it's been quite a while, hasn't it? You seem to be doing well for yourself. Your power feels like it eclipses the old you...and you've dyed your hair?" He says, gaining an inquisitive tone at the end and looking towards your hair with a slight bit of confusion."A-Ah, no! This is natural, actually. It happened after...well, I can tell you the full story later." You respond, pinching a lock of the blackened portion of your hair for a moment. "But I actually wanted to give you something important I came across, in private!" You follow up, snapping back onto the purpose of your arrival. He strokes his mustache a few times, before nodding at you silently and gesturing for you to follow. You do so, falling in line behind him as he turns and walks off towards the relatively unused 'office' area of the Academy that he usually handles the rare bit of paperwork in.You close the door behind you, and once you turn back around he's standing there with his hands tucked behind his back, looking at you with a serious expression. "Is it something dangerous?" He asks."Oh, no, not at all! The exact opposite, in fact!" You say, waving your hands in front of you. You must have given the wrong impression with your words earlier, whoops! Upon hearing you, he sighs out in relief, gaining a more relaxed demeanor.
"Good, good...not to offend you, Honta, but when you told me the tales of your time before you trained with me, I came to believe that you were something of a magnet for trouble." He admits, causing you to laugh nervously."Ahahah, th-that's just because I look for trouble so I can resolve it, not because it finds me! It's the other way around, I swear." You say, earning a chuckle from the old man."The end result is the same either way, no? You have a way of getting involved with such things. No matter, though - what is this thing you had for me?" He asks, glancing to your bag - rightfully assuming that it's the only place you'd really stash something. You slip your hand into it and pull out a handful of Paradise Herbs, showing the shimmering chromatic leaves off to Mutaito."A legendary plant, known as the Paradise Herb. Just one of these can extend your natural lifespan by a few hundred years. I...wanted to give some to you, Master Mutaito. As thanks for everything you've done for me." You explain, holding them out to him. He glances to them curiously, before he closes his eyes and gives a few chuckles that soon erupt into a more boisterous full-belly laugh."I'm not sure that my training is worth that much, my student! It's a service I offer freely, for no reward other than the satisfaction of seeing your progress." He says once his laughter dies down. His expression softens a bit. "Thank you for considering me in such a way, though. It means a lot. Are you sure that you want to give it to this old man?" He asks. You nod in a firm and resolved manner."Of course. I only got as far as I did thanks to you, so don't sell yourself short, alright? Besides, the longer you live the longer you can teach for, right?" You reply, grinning. After a moment's contemplation, he nods and reaches for the herbs, taking them from you."You have a good head on your shoulders. I suppose I wouldn't mind sticking around a fair bit longer, to teach future generations about the principles of Ki..." He admits, smiling gently. "And, of course, so that I can have a front row seat to just how far you'll end up going. Come now, Honta, tell me what you've been up to. It's been years, hasn't it?" He adds, moving over to the door behind you for some reason. He pops it open and sticks his head out briefly. "If you keep eavesdropping on me, I'll make you do laps until you pass out! Don't forget that you're on thin ice." He says to a figure you don't see. Hell, you didn't even feel or hear someone until now!
"Y-Yes sir!" Shen's familiar voice responds. You guess he must have been curious about why you were here, but you must admit to being a little proud of your friend's apparent skill in hiding his presence. You do wonder about the remark about being on thin ice, though...you'll have to ask Shen himself about that later. Mutaito closes the door once more, and smiles at you while gesturing to some of the chairs around his workdesk. You both take a seat, and you spend the next half an hour or so telling him about everything that happened after your training with him..."Remarkable...to think that even the great Kami would have such troubles. I suppose it's always going to be hard to make sure your student's hearts are in the right place." He comments after listening to you intently the entire time. "It gives me a lot to think about. Hm...I'll have to meditate on this some more. It's been good to see you again, Honta - why don't you go catch up with some of your friends that stayed here at the Academy? It'll give me some time to think." He suggests, motioning towards the door. You nod at him and stand up."Always a pleasure to catch up again, Master Mutaito. I'll be training with Kami for a while after I'm done down here on the ground, so if you need me, that's where you can find me!" You say, giving him a two-fingered wave as you head out the door. Once you're out in the hallways again, you can actually spot your old friends Roshi and Shen both peeking out of different rooms towards you, likely having been waiting to see you show up again...and hopefully not eavesdropping anymore, as Shen was caught doing. You look between the two, before deciding to...>Head towards Shen first. You've gotta know why he's on thin ice with Mutaito, and he was clearly the most curious about your whereabouts since he was outright listening outside the door earlier.>Head towards Roshi first. You can't BELIEVE his sister is that much older than him, and he never even told you! And you can probably find out why him and Shen were so far apart when they used to be shoulder-to-shoulder all the time.

Sorry for not being able to post yesterday, and posting so late today. To keep it succinct, I had to get my mother from the hospital. She's 100% fine, so no worries on that front - just been another exhausting time. This thread do be cursed in that life keeps finding ways to stop me from updating.Should come tomorrow, or the day after at the VERY latest. As always, I apologize for the delays. Once life stops throwing curveballs at me I should be able to update at the """usual""" frequency instead of this spotty nonsense.
>>5658910Oh no! Sorry to hear it, but glad your mom's okay in the end. No worries, and thank you for the update.

You opt to head towards Shen first, since you wanted to find out why he was in trouble before anything else...and it felt like it would be most appropriate to learn such things directly from him. Otherwise it would feel like gossiping behind his back, and you would never even dream of doing such a thing - let alone to a friend. You raise your hand up and give him a big grin on your approach, loudly saying "Shen! It's been a while, huh?" to greet him. "H-Honta! Yes, it most certainly has." He says, adjusting his sunglasses with an uneasy smile. He ducks into the room fully on your approach, and naturally you follow him in - it's just the room where some of the equipment gets stored. He immediately moves to start organizing said equipment, which seems to be in a state of disarray from the younger students finishing up their training session and carelessly leaving their tools around instead of putting them away properly. "I didn't really expect to see you again, you know...you're always moving on to the next thing, aren't you?" He admits."Yeah, that's true. But I'll always have time to visit with old friends, no matter what! My training has been pretty intense, but I bet you heard all about that already, huh?" You say, lightly prodding him with an elbow in a teasing fashion."I don't know what you're talking about." He says in an unconvincing way, clearly trying to suppress a grin of his own as he lies about his eavesdropped. "But it certainly feels like you've eclipsed all of us already, judging by your energy...even Master Mutaito's ki doesn't hold a candle to it. I'd kill for your talent with martial arts." He says, now sighing out wearily even as he effortlessly lifts up a hundred kilogram weight and puts it away. Must be the mental kind of exhaustion..."Don't sell yourself short, Shen. You're still way better than me at a lot of things - I'm still just a country bumpkin, no matter how many books Mutaito tried to bury me under. Besides, I'm going for breadth, you're going for depth...it's only natural we'd progress at different rates in different fields, right?" You respond, patting him once on the back to reassure him."Hm...I never thought about it that way. I guess you're right, yeah! Heh, in fact, I know for sure that I've got you beat in one field...my secret technique that I've been developing and refining since before we even met. I think it could even the playing field between us, if I used it at the right moment." He says, now chuckling to himself in a devilish manner. You just shoot him a supportive thumbs-up."Maybe I'll test that theory with a spar sometime, when I have more free time! By the way, I don't mean to bring up any sore subjects, but...I've gotta ask. What did Mutaito mean when he said you were on thin ice?" You ask, causing Shen to stiffen up and stay faced away from you."I don't see how it's any of your business..." He says defensively, apparently unwilling to reveal such things immediately.
"You're right, it's not my business. But you're my friend, and I want to do whatever I can to help you, Shen. You know me - I won't judge you for anything." You press him on it, noticing how he clenches a fist. He turns around, clenching his teeth as an apparent anger wells up in him that he at least has the mind to restrain in order to not snap at you."It's all because of that traitorous dog, Roshi! You see, for the longest time I had my eyes set on Fanfan..." He reveals, before weaving for you an intricate story of how things happened from his perspective. Were you to take his words at face value, Roshi was a manipulative pervert intent on poisoning Fanfan against him, which ultimately resulted in her rejecting Shen's advances. He had lost control of his temper, he admits, and ended up stealing her away...though apparently with the intent to help her realize that they were meant to be together. Roshi had come to blows with him over this, and ultimately Master Mutaito discovered the whole affair and sent him back to square one as the lowest level of student at the academy - a clear sign of Roshi sinking his manipulative claws even into their teacher. You listen to the entirety of his tale intently, not only taking note of the events but of the way in which he describes them and picking up the faint tells and patterns that allow you to tell when he's lying or embellishing things. By the end of the story, your brow is furrowed and your jaw is clenched; there's a certain anger in your heart at his actions, but you reign it in so that you can help him to become a better person. "You were wrong, Shen." You say outright."What?! You're going to side with-" He shouts in surprise, sounding hurt as well. You interrupt him by holding your hand up."This isn't about Roshi. It doesn't matter what he did or didn't say to Fanfan or Master Mutaito. The conclusions they came to were still their own. You have to respect their decisions, even if you don't agree with it. You can try to change their minds, but you'll never do that with an aggressive approach that tramples on their dignity...you'd only be cementing yourself as a bad person in their eyes, and digging a deeper hole for yourself." You explain."I...you can't..." He starts, mind no doubt racing to try to come up with a counterargument. "Can't you see it from my perspective? I was robbed of my true love!" He shouts."Can't you see it from theirs? Do that for me, right now. Think about the events that took place, as though you were in their shoes." You state with a firm tone, crossing your arms and staring down at him. He seems to shrink under your gaze, but you can tell he's starting to think about it based on his face scrunching up.
"Oh..." He says after a few tense moments, finally realizing how callous he must have seemed to Fanfan, how cruel his actions must have been in the eyes of Mutaito. "I acted like a monster...what a fool I am! A selfish fool! It's no wonder why she hates me!" He continues with a shaky voice, clutching his head and starting to slink down to his knees. You uncross your arms and hold your hand out to him, causing him to snap out of his bout of self-criticism long enough to look to your hand with curiosity and confusion. You give your hand a small shake and nod down at him, which finally gets him to take it. You squeeze his hand firmly and pull him back up to his feet."You don't have to hate yourself to make up for it. All you have to do is be better." You say, grinning at him. With a sniff, he grins back, flexing his arm muscles to squeeze your own hand just as tight in a gesture of the brotherly bond you hold."You're such a damn softie, Honta. But I guess that's not a bad thing. If I fall off the path again, at least I can always trust you to help me get back on it." He says, chuckling briefly. "And I guess I'll watch your back, in case anyone ever tries to take advantage of your goody-two-shoes nature. You can count on it!" He adds, earning a laugh from you as well."You got that right. Just don't forget to apologize to everyone after I'm gone, alright? Even Roshi! A small fight like this shouldn't come between friends." You remind him, earning a scoff from him...but a nod soon after, too."Yeah, alright. I suppose it is warranted in this case." He admits, earning a smile from you."Good to hear. Now, let's talk about something a little less emotional, huh? I actually found out about something interesting you might want to know about..." You say, shifting away from the prior subject. You tell him all about the Forest of Terror and the legendary bounty contained within it, though you actually leave out the majority of the details about the threats contained within the forest - only really hinting as to their existence as a true challenge for any warrior. He'll figure it out on his own, you have no doubts about that, and he'll come out a stronger martial artist in the end for it. He actually seems extremely interested in the herbs as well, so you think it's pretty likely that he'll pursue them sooner than later.Once you've finally finished catching up with Shen, you sense for Roshi's energy, which has moved towards the dining hall by now. You navigate the familiar structure pretty easily and catch up to him there, raising your hand to let him know of your presence. "Yo, Roshi!" You greet him. He turns around simply enough, expression mostly neutral save for his usual smug smirk; it actually seems a little more muted than usual today, though.
"Looks like the cat dragged itself in this time, huh? Good to see you again, Honta. I take it you're done talking to the academy's biggest disgrace?" He asks, harshly dragging Shen's name through the mud...though you can't say that Shen didn't deserve it, given what he did before. You wince nonetheless at just how casually Roshi says such things."He made some mistakes, but I think I was able to get through to him and help him to see why what he did was wrong." You say, earning a scoff from Roshi."I'll believe that when I see it. I'll bet he told you some sob story about what happened, huh? Truth is, he's just the kind of pig that kidnaps his best friend's girl. Former best friend, that is." He says, pausing only to eat from a plate of curry rice sitting in front of him."He did tell me his perspective of things, yes. He was blind to the feelings of others, and pursued an ignorant and selfish path to try to get what he wanted. I think he realizes that now." You calmly explain, sitting down next to him. "It doesn't excuse what he did, but I believe he can become a better person now, and repent for what he did while genuinely meaning it." You say. Roshi doesn't respond immediately, eating his curry rice for about half a minute as he no doubt contemplates your words."I don't know that I'll ever not be angry at him, but...if you're right, then I guess that's better than the way things have been since that incident. I just can't believe he'd try to get between me and Fanfan like that, you know?" He says, while you observe him carefully. You have a sneaking suspicion about something based on his body language coupled with your past interactions..."You and Fanfan weren't actually going out, were you?" You ask bluntly, causing Roshi to cough as some food goes down the wrong pipe. He slams a fist against his chest several times as he has his little coughing fit, and finally seems to fix the issue after a few seconds."N-No, not exactly, but it was going to happen! I know it was!" Roshi claims, earning a laugh from you."Did you forget that I knew Fanfan too? If I remember correctly, she once told me that she 'really wished that people would just act normal around her' and that she 'hated how much all the boys tried to woo her'. No offense, Roshi, but you were like the number one offender when it came to that..." You say. Roshi clutches his chopsticks hard enough to break them, staring straight forward for a few seconds."Honta..." He starts, sounding gravely serious. "You would dare to question your own Brother's word? What happened to the sacred bond between us? Do you truly think that I would lie to you about matters of love?" He asks."Yep. You're terrible about exaggerating things, 'love master'." You say, causing Roshi to slam his face into the table. Thankfully, you were fast enough to move his curry out of the way.
"Alright, alright! She was playing a little hard to get, but y'know how it is! That's just how women are, right?" He admits, picking his head back up and looking to you. His sunglasses have a small crack running through them from the force he just subjected them to."N-no?" You reply, a little confused. "I mean, Love accepted my proposal right away once I had the courage to actually ask her out. And Azalea actually was the one to propose dating to me fir-" You say, feeling Roshi's hands wrapping themselves around your neck to cut you off."You bastard, how dare you get TWO girlfriends before I even get one!" He says, throttling you a bit. He's nowhere near using his full strength, so you get the feeling this is just one of his usual comedic bits. "What base did you get to? WHAT BASE?!" He asks frantically. You reach up and pull his hands off, laughing jovially."You'll get one soon enough, you just gotta be yourself with them!" You advise him. Oh yes, the student truly has become the master now. "And, uhh...I don't really know what you mean by bases." You comment. Quite conveniently, Azalea chooses this time in particular to pop out of your satchel again."Home run!" She helpfully adds, somehow now dressed in the attire of a baseball player. This information proves to be too much for poor Roshi, as he freezes in place with his jaw dropped as far as it can go and his eyebrows so high up that they're practically floating above his head. After a few moments of inactivity from him, you wave your hand in front of his face, but don't get any kind of response. Guess he's out of it...It takes a few minutes for him to come back to his senses, but thankfully he seems to pretend like he didn't hear the prior conversation at all. Or maybe he's unintentionally suppressing the memories of it...either way, it works for you - you're not too keen on discussing your love life. You end up talking about more reasonable topics such as the extreme age gap between him and his sister, which he describes as 'something he doesn't like to think about', which you can understand given the implications of it. When you bring up the Paradise Herbs, he actually mentions that his sister already told him about them in the past, although he hasn't taken the challenge of the Forest of Terror yet - you briefly wonder if Roshi and Shen will conquer it together once they make up, but don't bring it up at all.Once you're finally done catching up with everyone and doing what you came here to do, you bid Roshi farewell and head back out to speak with Mr. Popo about your next destination...>Hit up Ahl next, who knows how much of a lifespan he has left? He could keel over in a few hours for all you know, he looked positively ancient YEARS ago.>Yang's a good bet for the next one, it should be a quick in and out affair!>Might as well see if you can barter with that Demons Will Weep guy next. Could get something good out of the exchange!

"Alright, Mr. Popo! I'm done here for now, thanks again for bringing me!" You say to the portly attendant as soon as you're in eyeshot of him again."It's not a problem at all, I quite enjoy getting out and enjoying a change of scenery from time to time. Are there any other destinations you might have in mind, my friend?" He replies, tucking his arms behind his back as he once more summons his carpet and hops up on it."Yeah, but to be honest I don't know exactly where it is, which could make things a little tricky. The next person on my list is Ahl DeMann, the enchanter I told you about." You say, recalling the frequent times you'd shared bits and pieces of your journeys with Mr. Popo."That shouldn't be a problem at all. The powers of the Lookout should be able to help us find anyone as long as they're on Earth, and not hidden underground or something ridiculous like that." Mr. Popo explains."Oh yeah! I haven't actually tried that out at all yet, but Kami mentioned something like that before. How do you do it?" You prod curiously, stepping up to stand on Popo's carpet. As it always does, the world around you flashes to a different locale, that being the extreme heights of the Lookout."It's quite simple really, all you have to do is focus on what you're looking for and glance over the side. Of course, it works far better if you're a capable user of the Far-Seeing Arts - Lord Kami can keep track of almost every single person on earth at once that way." Mr. Popo explains while stepping off the carpet, to which you follow suit."That's pretty amazing...there's, what, billions of people down there? It'd definitely give me a headache if I tried anything close to that." You admit with a bit of wonder, now seeing Kami in a slightly different light that acknowledges his apparent skill. You head over to the edge of the lookout, just as Popo instructed, and look over it at the great blue ball that is Earth far below the lookout. It's always a beautiful sight to look at your planet from up here, and you can't deny that it makes you feel that much more grateful to have been born here of all places.
So as to not get distracted for too long by the magnificent view, you start to focus your mind and your energy in the way that Korin taught you, to project your senses outside of your very body. Unlike every other time you've used the technique, up here the process is nearly instantaneous and smooth. You find that your supernaturally-bolstered sight grows in both breadth and depth, your vision wrapping around the globe beneath you and focusing in on the fine details of the land rather than be restricted by the distance. You can make out countless people moving about their daily lives, but you can't afford to focus on such distractions right now - you need to filter what you see. You're looking for an old man with next to no hair on his head, a graying yet great bushy beard with a mustache, someone on the short side. You still make out hundreds of thousands of people, so you need to narrow it down further: people that you can feel the spark of Magic Power from, that should help quite a lot. That only gives you about half a dozen people, which is actually a bit more than you expected, but it's enough to check them each to find the man you're looking for...and there, you have it!You make out Ahl, dressed quite differently than he usually is. He seems to have abandoned his wizardly garments in favor of khaki shorts, bright yellow sandals, a loose floral-patterned shirt, and a pair of sunglasses. He seems to be lounging on a chair on the deck of some kind of ship - zooming out slightly, you can see that it's an impressively large cruise ship to be exact. Not what you really expected, but hey, as long as he's enjoying his vacation!"Found him! He's on a cruise ship, right over there." You say, pointing physically with your finger right where your mystic sight is looking. Popo glances over the side and follows your fingers, before nodding."Ah yes, I see him now. I shall bring you there immediately, so that we don't appear off target when that ship moves." Mr. Popo says, apparently having quite the easy time finding him based on your directions. You wonder if he actually even used the arts themselves, or if his eyes are just sharp enough to do such things with ease when aided by the lookout. Putting such thoughts aside, you step back onto the carpet with Popo, and once more the world flickers around you and changes to the scenery of a somewhat bustling cruise ship sailing along the tropical coastline. This does of course startle a few people in the area due to your sudden appearance, but you don't really pay it any mind as you hop off the carpet once more. "Hey, Ahl!" You greet the old man as you raise your hand. Ahl snorts and jerks up in his lounge chair a bit, reaching up to look over the top of his sunglasses to see who is addressing him - it seems like he actually had fallen asleep there at some point, which you didn't actually know prior. Whoops...
"Who the what, huh?" He asks incoherently at first. "Oh! You look familiar, but I can't quite remember where I met you before..." He says, apparently trying to jog his memory of you. You suppose it's fair, given how long it's been and how different you look now compared to before."Haha, it's me, Hon-" you say with a chuckle, before Ahl interrupts you by snapping his fingers."Honda! That's right, you're Honda! The Barber's kid, right?" He says, somehow getting incredibly close to the truth and yet mangling it nonetheless."N-No sir, it's Honta! And I'm not actually Barbar's son, we're just friends. I helped free Teal's Castle from those demons, remember?" You correct him. Man, old age is pretty scary if it can make you forget things like that..."Drat. I got pretty close, at least." He says, snapping his fingers again in a gesture that says 'I'll get it next time'. "Anyways, what can I do for you today, sonny? You're not still hunting demons, are you...? Please tell me there aren't any here." He asks, now looking around with a bit of panic. You hold your hands up in a pacifying manner."No, no, not at all! I'm only here to catch up with you, and to give you something. Sorry to interrupt your vacation for it, but I think the gift I have will more than make up for it." You say, getting a raised eyebrow of curiosity from him."Well, as long as there's no demons involved, I'm peachy! What's this mystery gift of yours, though...?" He asks, pulling up a hand to stroke his beard with. "Wait, don't tell me actually, I love to guess! Is it a car?" He adds on, apparently changing his mind."Not quite-" You reply."A new cauldron?""No-""Enchanted shoes that can make me win any dance competition?""What-""A lifetime supply of tapioca!""H-Hang on!" You say, holding up a hand again. "We'll be here all day with these kinds of guesses, Mr. DeMann!" You object."Ah, well. What is it then?" He asks, reclining back in his seat again and tucking his hands behind his head. You take the opportunity to grab a handful of Paradise Herbs from your bag, now that he's finally given you the opportunity to do so. You present the fistful of shimmering plants, showing them off to him."The legendary Paradise Herbs! They can extend anyone's natural lifespan by a few hundred years!" You exclaim, causing his eyes to bulge out so far that they knock his sunglasses off his face."THE LEGENDARY PARADISE HERBS?!" He exclaims in disbelief, shooting up to grab them. He looks them over with a mixture of shock and intrigue on his face, likely trying to ascertain their nature. "Holy smokes, they're real! Do you know just what I could do with these, boy?" He asks, shaking them in front of you."Uh, extend your lifespan?" You reply, unsure as to what else could possibly be done with them.
"Yes, but also no! These are an alchemist's wet dream! The dragon that every enchanter chases! With just a few bits and pieces of this, I could make dreams become reality! I could take a step into anyone's memories to relive their past, or bring life to a construct. Why, I've even heard it's a crucial component in creating a Philosopher's Stone!" He exclaims with vigor, before the energy seems to leave him and he slumps back into his chair. "But yes...I can also extend my lifespan with them! That alone is astounding, I just can't believe you'd pop up out of nowhere and hand me a fist full of the stuff!" He continues."Ahahah, well, I recently braved the Forest of Terror for them, and I've been giving them out to my friends and family members. I don't plan on dying anytime soon, and I'd hate to see you or anyone else I care about dying too." You admit with a chuckle. At this, Ahl seems to get tears welling up in the corners of his eyes."I couldn't even remember your name right, and you consider me that close of a friend that you'd give this to me?" He asks, to which you nod. "That's crazy, you know!" He continues, to which you nod again."Maybe, but if I earn them, then I get to decide what to do with them." You say, grinning in a cheeky manner."I suppose you're right! Let's see...if I want to get everything I can out of this much, then I'm going to need to-" He starts to say, before devolving into muttering a bunch of alchemical gibberish under his breath. Well, it's not entirely gibberish now that you're familiar with magical terms, but alchemy was neither your nor Garlic's strong suit - there's a lot you didn't cover with him. While he seems to be considering the best way to get everything he can out of the herbs, you take a moment to consider if there's anything else you might want to do here other than catch up with each other...he definitely knows a lot more about this than you expected.>Ask him a few questions. (About what?)>Just stick to catching up for now. You'll have plenty of time for in-depth questions later, now that he has the key to pseudo-immortality in his hands.>Something else...? (Write-in)

>>5667675dont worry QM, hope you can rest soon.I'll go with manga if you dont mind: Berserk,Getter Robo and Dragon Ball. What about you?
>>5667679Predictably, it's gonna be Yu Yu Hakusho and Dragon Ball for the first two. But for the third, that's where it gets hard...There's so many good entries I could put there. Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Fullmetal Alchemist, etcetera...However, if we're allowing Manga, then I'd actually give it to the Manga version of Akira. It's an exceptional work that far outclasses the movie, and I still love the movie itself despite its constraints. If you want a more modern recommendation for manga from me, then try Rosen Garten Saga. It may be extremely NSFW, but it's legitimately the best tournament manga of all time.
>>5667675Mob Psycho 100, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Medabots.
>>5667683Nice! you recommend to watch Yu Yu Hakusho? It aged well?Ok if we gonna talk about questionable manga choices, hear me out. Maybe you have seen it before I think it was kinda famous, but the manga of Kuroshitsuji/Black Buttler is fucking amazing. The thing is from the outside and thanks to the anime it just seems like another yaoi shit, but I promise its fucking GOLD.Im not gay I swear
>>5667724It's okay to be gay, anon. I'm 50% gay myself, natch. Why? So I can call people fags and they can't get mad about it, of course.I'll admit, I avoided all recommendations of black butler before specifically due to the public image of it being one of those things made exclusively to appeal to fujos. But I might give it a shot if that's not the case for the manga.I'd say it aged well, even though I haven't seen it in about a decade...it might be nostalgia tinting my view, admittedly. For other recommendations from me, I can't give a more stunning review of Dai Dark. Absolutely peak character interactions, peak worldbuilding, peak style. Fuckin love Dai Dark. Kaiju Number 8 is also pretty good. Tsugumomo has some HELLA great action, if you can look past the NSFW portions of it. Denjin N is finally completed, and it's a relatively short but decently good journey that gives me Death Note vibes.

"You know a lot more about this plant than I expected, you know." You say, mostly to snap him out of his difficult-to-make-sense-of mumbling. "Do you know if they can be used to enhance Ki?" You opt to ask, the wizened wizard's head snapping back to you as he realizes you're still present."Oh! Yes, my own mentor back in the day actually was quite invested in magical herbology, so it's quite natural for his obsessions to have rubbed off on me." He explains, chuckling fondly as he no doubt recalls some of his youth. You can't really imagine what a young Ahl would even look like, though admittedly you're curious about his mentor now...something to ask about later, perhaps. "As for enhancing Ki...uh, what exactly is this Ki you speak of?" He asks."Wh- you know everything there is to know about enchanting and magic theory, but you don't know what Ki is?" You say, somewhat shocked by the fact."Well, I mean, nobody is perfect! Things just slip through the cracks sometime, my boy. So this ki is related to magic in some way?" He replies, furrowing his bushy brows as he considers what it could be."Ah, no- at least, I don't think so. It's more like, you know, a concentration of fighting spirit! Here, let me show you an example." You say, before generating a bright ball of ki in your hand that hovers just above your palm and emits a buzzing hum. His expression brightens with recognition almost immediately, thankfully enough!"Ahhh! Yes, that's your Life Force, sonny! Of course I know about Life Force. Honestly, you kids are always coming up with such silly new terms for things..." He says, grumbling the last bit mostly to himself. "In a sense, the herbs already enhance your Life Force, just in a subtle way. You see, the herbs themselves contain a great deal of Life Force, which they release into your own Life Force gradually over time when you ingest it. Once in your own stream, the herb's energy spreads itself evenly across your body and slowly but surely heals the small accumulations of damage that everyone accrues over the course of their life - things the body can't naturally heal on its own, for the most part. That's how it extends your lifespan, really...and although it might make you live for five hundred more years, you'll still age - a bit slower than usual, but the wrinkles will catch up eventually." He explains to you."I see...but is there any way to concentrate the effect and make it happen faster, instead of gradually over time?" You ask, prompting him to furrow his brow once more as he considers the idea.
"Perhaps...with the right alchemical tricks, you could make one heck of a regenerative potion. Might even zap the wrinkles right out of an old geezer like me if you did that, hah!" He laughs, his hand reaching up to idly stroke his beard once more. "Wouldn't last very long, but the temporary strength of something like that is definitely worth consideration. Might be able to get its energy to completely dissolve into your own too, instead of just hitching a ride on the flow of your Life Force...though, I have no idea how substantial of a boost to one's power that could be. It's hard to quantify the 'power' of a plant, after all..." He considers out loud."Hmm...I might just have to get some more to work with you on something like that. If you'd allow it of course, sir!" You say, getting another chuckle from him."Of course, my boy. I hardly like to be in anyone's debt even over gifts, so we can consider a project like that to be repayment for the herbs you've already given me." He replies, smiling widely as he pats the leafy top of the fist full of plants you previously handed over to him."Awesome! It'll have to wait a few years though - I've got some pretty important training to do with Kami real soon." You say, earning another look of shock and surprise from Ahl as the deity's moniker is brought up. This of course leads to you having to explain your relationship to Kami and how you met him, and you ultimately end up explaining pretty much everything that happened to you since your departure from Teal's Castle all those years ago. The story came in reverse order this time around, funnily enough, but he didn't seem to have too much trouble keeping track of things other than misremembering names quite a lot."I wonder if it would be worthwhile to meet this Mutaito fellow myself some day...it seems like he's quite knowledgeable about Life Force- sorry, Ki. He might be able to give me some unique insights onto my studies of Magical Power, even if the two energies aren't all that related." He ponders aloud to himself once you finish, prompting you to suddenly imagine a comically buff Ahl. Disturbing yet hilarious, in your humble opinion...and thankfully you manage not to laugh outwardly upon the thinking the intrusive thought."I'm sure he'd love to, he seems pretty interested in things like lost arts. And magic is pretty unheard of in the modern world, you know!" You say, getting a nod from Ahl."Sadly true, indeed. Can you believe that most of the nutjobs I met on this cruise don't even believe Magic exists? Talk about a bunch of loons!" He exclaims, shaking his head at the absurdity of it. You can't help but agree, it's pretty crazy to dismiss something that you've never even tried to confirm the existence of!
"I guess they're just too busy with their lives to really notice much outside of it." You reply, shaking your own head. Having had a taste of the routine life of working day in and day out for a few months of your admittedly short life, you can't see yourself willingly going back to such a dull mundane life."Good on you for learning how to use Magic yourself, by the way. You were on the fast track compared to me, of course...took me a decade before I manifested my first spell. Although I didn't really have to worry about a giant bug trying to squash me, which I think is a worthwhile tradeoff." He says with a snort. "Maybe I'll un-retire one day and help you finish your training, eh? That Cow Lick fellow didn't seem like the type who would make sure you had the complete set of fundamentals done. People that have magic come naturally to them usually don't consider the kind of things that hard workers like you and me have to have to struggle to master." He follows up, causing your eyebrows to shoot up."You'd be willing to teach me more about magic?" You ask to confirm."Of course I would! I love teaching, I just didn't have anything left to teach Yang. And nobody else left at the castle had enough potential in them to release their Magic Power in a reasonable amount of time - I didn't exactly have many years left before your donation, you know." He replies with a nod."Ahh, yeah, that makes sense. Especially if it took you a decade to use it yourself, that's a pretty huge investment." You say, before thinking on what he mentioned about the castle. "Speaking of Teal Castle, how was everyone there doing when you left?" You inquire curiously."Flourishing! The seasons have returned to normal instead of being an eternal winter, although it's still naturally cold up there on the mountains. Lord Teal put his guards through a rather intense training regiment so that the Castle wouldn't be caught lacking the next time something threatened them, even had me brew up supplements to aid their training. Simple things to keep their energy topped up and to help them recuperate faster, that's all. There was a little bit of a population boom as the younger couples ended up getting...busy...in celebration of their freedom - lots of little kids all born around the same time running around there these days! They celebrate the anniversary of the Demon Slaying too, you know - every year, they host a three day feast with plays and dances and festivities galore. You would not BELIEVE how many costumes I've seen of 'the heroic trio'. Even a few youngsters dressing up as Myself and Yang, heheh..." He recalls fondly.
"Aww...man, I really ought to visit that place again someday, then! Kind of gets me thinking about something though...do you think it'd be a smart idea to offer Paradise Herbs to Lord Teal? Or his daughter, maybe?" You ask, curious on his thoughts to the potential ramifications of such a thing. He hums to himself in consideration once more, reaching up to scratch his head."You know, that's quite a tough one to answer! It's always risky to offer such things to people in positions of power, in my opinion. Lord Teal is a kind man, but as they say...the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. As a ruler, he is obligated to consider the prosperity of his people above all else. If the existence of these herbs is revealed to him, well...even just the roots of these little plants can achieve miracles, young man. They could transform nations given enough of them, and if sold at auction they could provide one with the treasury of ten kings - not the comparatively meager holdings of a Lord. If he were to use them himself, he'd be able to live and rule for that much longer, but doing so would put greater distance between himself and the people - a Lord that has lived fivefold the lives of his people can hardly be found relatable. And if he wanted to distribute the herbs among all of his people, he would need to acquire more, which would mean sending his warriors out to seek this Forest of Terror you mentioned...that comes with its own basket of worms." He explains in detail, before sighing out and shaking his head. "No, I think it would be a rather poor idea overall. Even extending the offer to his daughter would pose too much risk of him learning about them, and she too is bound to take his place one day, leading to the same issues most likely. It's best if these herbs are kept a secret from him - and to the world at large, in case you were considering anyone else!" He finishes, huffing a bit."I see...you've given me a lot to think about. I was hoping it'd be a simpler affair, but maybe you're right...I guess it's not all that simple when politics get involved." You sigh out, rubbing one of your temples. Politics seems to be one of those subjects that gives you a headache with how quickly one little action can spiral out into a spiderweb of possibilities."Hohoh, now you're learning. Yes, Politics always makes things a complex mess. Even us wizards can't make sense of it, so most of us steer clear of it! There's a reason so many of us take up hermitage, you know." He says with a chortle. "Why, you should-" He starts to continue, before being cut off by an unfamiliar voice.
"You there! Please present your boarding tickets, we've received a tip that unauthorized people may be present on the ship. We're verifying all the passengers for your safety." One of the staff members of the cruise ship initially shouts out, tapering to a reasonable volume upon approaching closer to your little group. You glance over to Mr. Popo, who is lounging on a free chair next to Ahl's with some sunglasses on and a colorful flower lei around his neck."Oh dear." Mr. Popo says, pushing himself up. "I believe it's time for us to leave, young master Honta." He finishes, snapping his fingers to summon his carpet to the area. The employee seems startled by this, and approaches at a faster power walk with the clear intent to stop either of you from leaving."Damn, err...I'll catch you next time, Mr. DeMann! Great seeing you again!" You say, hopping onto Popo's Carpet hastily. You wave to him, and can't even see his reply as both you and Popo flicker out of the area just before the employee actually reaches you.You find yourself once more back up at the Lookout, and you sigh out in relief. "That was a close one, huh?" You ask, turning to Popo."Most certainly. Although, now that I think about it, I could have simply created some tickets instead..." Mr. Popo comments, trailing off. "Well, I'm certain that everything will end up fine. Was that your final destination, or was there another destination you had in mind, young man?""Ah, right!" You reply, snapping your fingers. "The next place is going to be-">Fortuneteller Baba's, so you can hand some herbs off to Yang! It should be a quick and easy dropoff.>Demons Will Weep, so you can haggle with a certain demon slayer. You're sure that you can get something good out of the exchange!

>>5674650We're back, boys!
"Baba's Palace! I'm going to offer some of this to Yang next. It should be our second to last stop." You reply to Mr. Popo, in turn receiving an understanding nod from him. The world flashes to the mildly familiar scenery just outside of the Fortuneteller's not-so-humble abode, which has an enormous line waiting to see the esteemed owner...of course, you're not really here for her, so you're not even going to bother with them at all. You hop off of Popo's carpet and expand your senses outward to feel for Yang's energy, catching onto it after a few moments of dedicated focus - her ki isn't very strong at all, but by jumping your vision over to each potential energy source with the amplified far-seeing arts allowed to you by Kami's Mirror, you find her easily enough out of all the possibilities. You make your way over there on foot quickly enough, finding her sitting underneath one of the myriad of trees she personally planted and tended to around the once-desert that would normally surround the palace. You can't exactly see her face due to the wide-brimmed witch's hat she's wearing, but she seems to be completely absorbed in reading some kind of book right now, and hasn't noticed your approach yet. You tilt your head to try to read the title written along the spine, catching a glimpse of it: 'Sixty Tones of Black'. Not something you're familiar with, but you would assume it has something to do with magic given her proclivities."Hey, Yang! Whatcha reading about?" You ask her, causing her to jerk her head up with a startled expression and suddenly, randomly, throw the book she was reading as far away as possible. She's got a pretty good arm for someone that doesn't really train her physical abilities, you'd say!"Damn it! H-How long were you standing there? You practically gave me a heart attack, jerk!" She says, picking herself up from her seated position and brushing the front of her dress off in a flustered manner. Her face is bright red, so you must have REALLY startled her with that one - you didn't even mean to do so, really!"Ahahah, sorry! You seemed pretty focused on what you were doing, I just walked right up without you noticing." You apologize, rubbing the back of your head sheepishly. "Do you want me to grab your book for you? You threw it pretty far." You offer, hoping to be helpful to make up for it."No!" She says immediately, a flash of panic on her face. "...No, I'll get it myself. It's easy." She follows up, pointing a finger in the direction of the book. Without even using a command phrase, magical power pours from her finger and out towards the book, manifesting as a simple effect that telekinetically grasps the tome and floats it back towards her and into her hands. She immediately stuffs it away into her leather satchel afterwards, as if to hide it from prying eyes. Must be some pretty sensitive magic contained within, if she's being paranoid about it.
"Impressive! It's pretty hard to use spells without incantations, isn't it?" You comment, distracted from asking further about the tome by the display of her abilities. At the praise, she turns her chin up a bit higher and adopts a smirk."For novices, yes. It's actually pretty easy to do basic spells without incantations once with enough rote memorization that the imagos you draw upon is fully fleshed out and accurate." She brags casually."Right, err...the mental image of the effect you want to use, right? Sorry, I've only really been training with magic for about a year and a half, so I don't have the firmest grasp on all the terminology." You say after a few moments, having had a bit of difficulty recalling what imagos meant."Yeah, that's right. But let's dial it back a moment - you're training with magic?" She asks, to which you nod in response. "Unbelievable! I didn't even know you had a talent for it!" She exclaims."I don't, actually! It was a lot of hard work to draw out what little potential with it I have, so I'm kind of in the same boat as Ahl. But hey, who knows, maybe if I work at it hard enough for long enough I'll get even better at it than Baba!" You reply, grinning."Jeeze, you're the only guy I know that could get so excited about being bad at something. It's kind of refreshing, though, so I guess I'll be rooting for you! What brings you around today, looking for some extra training? Because if so, then Baba's a much better bet than me, I'm still just an apprentice." She questions you, deflating her ego just enough to admit her level of competence."Well, you know how I asked Baba about ways I could extend my lifespan?" You ask, getting a raised eyebrow and a nod from her. "I went out and got some of those Paradise Herbs she told me about! A lot of them, actually. And I've been giving them to friends and family, so I figured I'd make a stop here to give you some too!" You continue, fishing a handful of the glimmering leafy greens out of your pouch once again. She looks at it with a look of realization and pops the bottom of her fist into an open hand."Oh, so that's what she meant by not having to worry about it! I guess she knew you'd be around again, huh? I asked Master Baba about it myself after you left, but she just brushed me off because you'd be bringing some eventually it seems." She explains her epiphany, catching you by surprise."Dang, she's good! Is there anything she DOESN'T know about?" You ask, wondering the true extent of the fortuneteller's abilities.
"I ask myself that every day, you know. It's pretty freaky sometimes. Downright impossible to sneak anything past her..." She says with a bit of a bitter tone, before she shakes her head to clear her thoughts on the subject. "But anyways, thanks a ton! I'll pay you back for this when I get the chance to. All good witches find their own way to achieve immortality, but getting a bit of help in the beginning certainly doesn't hurt." She follows up with a smile."You don't have to pay me back, you know. It's a gift for that very reason." You say, getting her to roll her eyes in response."One of these days, you're going to get scammed out of the clothes on your back, you know that?" She says, to which you chuckle."Maybe. Hopefully I don't get scammed on my next trip, I'm planning on seeing if a certain Demon Slayer is willing to trade some of his artifacts and tools for the rest of this stuff." You explain your next move, to which her expression grows serious."You're going to sell some to that Demons Will Weep guy you told me about?" She asks, which you confirm with yet another nod. "Well, you'd better let me come with them. I'm certain I can get you the best deal possible, I know exactly what this stuff is worth after all. You going right now?" She says, apparently inviting herself to your party temporarily."Uhh- sure, I guess, you can come with. And yeah, we can leave immediately if you don't want to catch up." You say, gesturing over to where Mr. Popo is standing with his parked carpet in the distance. He waves back, of course!"Please, Honta. I live with someone that can see everything that happens anywhere. I'm already filled in on what you've been up to for the past year or so you know, besides the exact specifics of your training. Pretty nasty business with Garlic, huh? But at least it all worked out in the end...now let's get a move on!" She declares, grabbing hold of your wrist and walking off with you in tow towards Mr. Popo."Hey again, Mr. Popo! Uh, this was a short one it looks like. For our final destination outside of taking people back home, could you please take me to Demons Will Weep? It's a business in Central City." You say to the portly attendant, who gives his usual soothing smile."Of course. Hold on tight, you two." He says, while you and Yang step up onto the carpet. She doesn't seem to know the capabilities of the carpet, so she actually does cling to both you and Popo with quite the tight grip...only to not feel a single jerk once the carpet teleports to its latest destination. She levels a deadpan stare at Mr. Popo after a few seconds of confusion."Why did we have to hold on tight for that?" She asks.
"You didn't." He says, smiling once more. You chuckle at the duo's antics and tap Yang on the shoulder to grab her attention again, this time pointing over to a bushy-bearded man watching the three of you from behind his scratched-up wooden desk with a nonplussed attitude. The proprietor of the shop, of course, and he seems to be lifting up a thick slice of supreme pizza up to his mouth to take a bite of it. You step off the carpet and raise your hand up to him."Hey there, mister! It's been a while!" You say, causing him to stare specifically at you while he chews and swallows his food. It's an awkward few seconds of silence."Have we met?" He asks simply enough, intensifying the awkwardness immensely."Ahahah...yeah, once! I hired you to help me dispose of a Living Curse a few years ago!" You say, his expression dull for a few seconds before his eyes light up in recognition."Oh, right! Yeah, I remember you now. You went with the extermination option instead of the subjugation one." He says, nodding slowly to himself before he takes another bite. "You guys hungry? I got plenty." He offers, gesturing to the pizza."Oh no, thank you though!" You reply."I'm good." Yang says."That sounds lovely!" Mr. Popo states surprisingly enough, stepping forward to grab a slice and partake in the cheesy goodness next to the hunter."So, what brings you younguns in today? Got some demons that need taught a lesson? Curses that need broken? Ghosts that need exorcised? I handle it all, as you know." He asks you, leaning back in his rickety looking chair and propping his heavy boots up on the edge of the desk."We're here to offer a trade, actually!" You say, pulling out the remainder of the herbs from your bag and laying them out on the desk to present them. "We have some-" You start to say, only for him to interrupt you."Paradise Herbs! Damn, if that doesn't take me back. Never thought I'd see that stuff again, not after I got rid of that Alraune." The Hunter says, apparently showing some prior experience with them. "Those suckers are still around, huh? I wonder if there's another Alraune that needs popped..." He ponders aloud."Right, Paradise Herbs! I hope I don't need to tell you just how potent and rare they are. Their uses are immeasurable, the least of which being the very extension of one's lifespan." Yang speaks up on your behalf, causing the Hunter to snort."Yeah, I guess they are pretty useful. Not very much for me, though. A man in my position already has several sources of immortality, I assure you. I suppose I can trade that amount of it for a gizmo from my wall of artifacts, though." He says, pulling his feet off the desk and leaning forward to press a button underneath of it. The wall behind him flips to reveal a wide variety of objects strapped to it, ranging from swords to strange looking firearms to sealed jars and jewellery that gives off uneasy vibes. Yang's eyes narrow and her brow furrows.
"This amount is hardly worth only one of those objects. As I said before, immortality is the LEAST of what it can manage. You and I both know the true capabilities of the herbs." She counters with a firm tone, earning a groan from the Hunter."Alright, two things. I'll double my offer." He says, to which Yang shakes her head with a sigh."I guess he really must not want any, Honta. We might as well leave if he's going to lowball us like that." Yang says to you. This elicits a most strange response from the Hunter, it seems - or rather, the entity within him. His eyes grow green and his mouth opens up for the shadowy black-and-green and to come out of it and point directly at Yang."FIVE! FIVE ARTIFACTS FOR WHAT YOU HAVE. WE MUST HAVE IT." The entity that the Hunter lovingly referred to as Nya exclaims from within him, in its unsettling and deep tone."N-Nya, honey, I was handling it!" The hunter says around the limb jutting out of his mouth, wrinkling his nose in distaste of the turn of events."Deal!" You and Yang both say, getting another groan from the Hunter as you reach out to shake hands with Nya. The touch makes your skin crawl, but at least it seals the deal. "THE CONTRACT IS MADE. CHOOSE YOUR SPOILS." Nya says, shifting its position to point at the wall of objects. This is definitely worth some careful consideration...
