It seems like his magic lightning would block anything you could do to him. Pretty unfair to use that in a duel. Hannypold is immune to all magic, but you doubt he would be able to fight him by himself... What do you do?

Maybe if we shield bash the aura with Hannypold it would temporarily disipate or something, I don't know. That's the only thing I can think off that might do anything.

I don't see anything in our inventory that would give us an edge either, it's just potatoes and escape bonsais. Maybe we clutch the Hanny King Statue and give a slient prayer to the Hanny King to give us some luck this battle.

You stuff your left hand inside Hannypold's mouth and lift him up like a shield.
>"Ha-Hanihooo..."
He doesn't seem too thrilled about this, but it has to be done.
>"Oh... Uh... Okay...?"
Rei seems pretty confused himself, but you can see some sweat build up on his forehead. He probably realised what you're planning, but he stills seems fairly confident.
>"Alright then..."
Rei grabs a metal comb out of his pocket and quickly combs his fringe upwards, releasing even stronger amounts of electrical discharge, leaving burn marks on the ceiling and breaking down light bulbs.
>"...here we go!"
Leaving you no time to think, Rei stretches his arm and points his comb at you, releasing a huge bolt of lightning. You instinctively raise your arms to defend yourself and... eureka! Hannypold's body deflects the attack upwards, leaving a huge hole in the ceiling!
You take this opportunity to lunge at Rei, Chaos in hand. He dodges to the side and counterattacks with a kick, as quick as a professional martial artist. You're sent flying into the wall, electricity running throught your armor. This is probably the most amount of pain you've felt in your life, but you don't give up!
Rei lounges around smugly while you get up, the very slight worry from earlier now completely gone from his face.
>"Heh... Nice try with using your little Hanny friend there, real creative... However-"
You try a downward strike with Chaos, but Rei is too fast for your eyes to follow. He's now standing behind you.
>"-you shouldn't be relying on your party when you can't even do shit yourself!"
He lifts his leg up and tries to kick you square on the back, that would knock you out cold for sure! Luckily, you manage to turn yourself around and block his kick with Hannypold's body and Chaos just in time, but even with the lightning being reflected the strength of his kick is superhuman.

Chaos screams as lightning bolts run through his blade. Hannypold's body can barely sustain an attack of this level, cracks spreading throught his back. Rei continues to put strength in his leg, he clearly wants to send you flying again with this kick like did earlier. He must enjoy seeing you fall down and get back up again.

You are blocking Rei's kick with both Chaos and Hannypold, Hannypold's body is sustaining multiple injuries. Tomato has some items she could use to heal him, but tossing Hannypold aside for even a moment could result in your defeat. What do you do?

Didn't work, fucking hell. Well he is 100 levels higher than us so I guess that was to be expected. We can't let Hannypold take more damage, so we toss him aside so he can live while we tank the damage (and most likely lose the battle, but what can you do). Teleporting outside is weak.

You decide to run inside a nearby inn to hide from Rei. Luckily it's a pretty big place, it should take a while before the staff realise you're not a guest and kick you out.

You can hear Rei running back and forth outside, very pissed off. He looked really chill a few minutes ago, you running away from that duel must've really ticked him off! You hope no one gets seriously hurt...
Regardless, it's probably best to stay hidden here for a while until he calms down, not like you could protect anyone he attacks anyways. You've never fought someone so strong before, Dark Lords really are something else. How are you supposed to beat the Demon King when you can't even beat one of his minions?

A few minutes pass. Rei isn't outside the inn anymore, but you can see some flashes of lightning coming from the other side of town, looks like he won't be calming down any time soon. Too bad you didn't manage to get his clue on where Little Princess is, you really need to find her bef-

A young couple bumps into you as they head down the stairs. From their clothes you guess they are from JAPAN, but their accents are really weird...

The boy starts climbing the stairs again. Tomato sneaks behind the girl, Miki, while she's not looking.

You, Tomato and Hannypold walk around town looking for this Nikkou girl, careful to avoid the areas where Rei seems to be in. Hannypold got hungry on the way, so you decided to give him the bag of Puryo Bites you bought earlier. They have no nutritional value at all, but they taste great, you remember eating them all the time as a kid. Another marking has been added to your Hanny Card (now 8).

Tomato trips on something... it's a weird looking katana.

Tomato grabs the katana and tries to unsheathe it, but some kind of mysterious shock barrier prevents her from doing so.

Tomato grabs the sheathed katana and puts it in her bag. Just randomly finding a fancy weapon on the floor like that is definitely weird, but you've heard there are people all over The Continent that have mysterious item and weapon finding abilities, maybe she has one of those too?

A blue shockwave covered in blue magical energy appears from nowhere and blasts Rei out of the air, into a wall. Oh thank god, you really thought they left you there for a second... Kentarou walks past without looking at you, concentrating on his opponent. You can tell from his stance that he's a kendo practitioner.
>"...hey....pssst..."
Kentarou calls out to you quietly, still facing Rei.
>"Stay back for a bit, then sneak up behind him and "swish swish stab"! ...trust me, it'll work!"
Sounds reasonable to you! You join up with the rest of your party and wait for an opportunity.

>"Tch... You're here too huh, fucker?! Is this town a hotspot for cowards or something?!! I'll deal with you later though, that shitface there's got me ESPECIALLY pissed off!"
Rei tries to go around Kentarou, but he swipes his feet and forces Rei to face him again.

Rei shoots dozens of lightning bolts at Kentarou, but he manages to dodge them all easily by simply hopping from side to side and jumping back and forth. Miki wasn't kidding, he really IS super strong! But you can't just sit down and watch the fight, Kentarou is going to get tired at some point.
>"I'm tired of you guys, following us around, scaring Miki-chan... This ends now!"
Suddenly, Kentarou jumps towards Rei, mere centimeters above a lightning bolt, and slashes Nikkou downwards, using his own strength plus the force of gravity to pierce through Rei's electricity aura!

Rei dodges to the side, avoiding a fatal blow, but his right hand isn't so lucky. A big, white glow covers Rei for a moment, and the shatters like glass. His invincibility barrier is gone! Blood is dripping down his hand-less arm.

This is your chance! With his hand gone his strength must have been greatly reduced, and with his invincibility barrier gone he's now vulnerable to any kind of attack. But you can't let your guard down, you don't know what trick he could still have on his sleeve, he still has his electricity barrier that will block a majority of physical attacks, and you don't want him running away like Redeye did, this fight ends now. What will you do to help Kentarou?

Second time's the charm, as they say! You stuff your hand inside Hannypold's mouth and unsheathe Chaos. Rei is currently dodging around Kentarou's attacks, looking for an opportunity to flee.

You run behind him and slam Hannypold into his back with all your strength, taking the wind out of his lungs and dissipating his electric aura for a brief moment.

That brief interval is more than enough time, you quickly swing Chaos downwards, separating Rei's arm from his body! Great, now you can ask him some questions-

A katana blade suddenly emerges from his chest, Kentarou has stabbed him right in the heart. Dark Lord or not, no living creature can survive that.

He sounds thankful, but he did most of the work. You don't know if you can accept the thanks when you only hit him a single time...

Kentarou tosses something at you, it's the keys to their hotel room.

Huh, well if it's already paid, then there's no harm in sleeping in a fancy big hotel room, right?

You pull Chaos close to your ear, clearly he wants to say something in secret.

That's quite a revelation to drop in so casually, but it does track. That boy looks physically healthy, but he definitely doesn't look strong enough to fight a Dark Lord one on one like you saw earlier. Rei moved supernaturally fast, and lightning magic moves even faster. The only way to avoid his attacks without injury would be if he himself had supernatural abilities.
This does raise some concerns however. Dark Lords are the enemies of humanity, the servants of the Demon King, so why are they being so friendly? Is it some kind of trick or strategy? Are they spies of some kind? Or are they trying to destroy the Human Realm from the inside? But in that case, what does Miki's disappearance now mean? Are they going to lead you into a trap or something? The possibilities are kind of hurting your head...

You get what he's saying, but Kentarou is a bit too friendly for it to feel like a trap, it doesn't feel fake...

If you hit him right now, even with a light punch to his shoulder, it should activate his invincibility barrier. That'd force him to spill the beans right there, but he may also try to kill you after, and you definitely can't beat him... What do you do?

You and your team explore the previously mentioned dark alleyway, as well as the area surrounding it. If Miki's not here, then she's probably in some kind of trouble.
Tomato has snatched the Puryo Bites away from Hannypold and is scarfing them down herself. You can't blame her, neither of you have had time to sit down and eat something today. You munch on a carrot and a potato, but that doesn't fill you at all.
>"Man *munch munch*, Tomato has never been on a quest this big before! *munch crunch* Usually I just pick the easy ones from the guild, like fighting some Squidmen outside of town or something *munch gulp*, but I never thought I'd be fighting Dark Lords!"
Well, she hasn't FOUGHT any Dark Lords yet, but she does seem very hyped up about it. You, on the other hand, feel a little tense. Back in your hometown, Sudori 13, you felt like you could destroy anyone that stood in your way, like the thugs you fought in that bar a couple days ago, for example. But here in Leazas, everything is so different, and loud, and the enemies are so strong! That one-sided beatdown from Rei, as well as the close encounter with Redeye from earlier, if you hadn't had people helping you during those moments, you'd be more than dead by now. Back home you thought that, if anything or anyone tried to hurt you, you could just become stronger and overpower them by yourself, alone. But... maybe having a party is more important than you thought...

You're walking next to the town's wall when Chaos suddenly speaks up.

There's a big hole on the wall, with no signs of repair attempts around it. Either the construction workers around here have taken a day off, or it's very, very recent. You can hear voices on the other side of the wall, both most likely female, but you have no idea who they are or what they're saying. One of them sounds angry and the other sounds scared. What do you do?

You walk through the hole, ending up on the other side of the wall. Like expected, Miki is here, with a weirdly dressed lady and some kind of rock golem-esque creature surrounding her.

The giant rocky being grabs Miki by the scruff of her shirt and lifts her up like a Nyanyan.

Satella turns around and spots you. She catches a glimpse of Chaos in your hand, and immediately cowers back.

Kentarou walks up behind you. Seems like he, too, has adopted the "Quiet Guy" nickname. Tomato and Hannypold walk up behind him.

The monster then lifts Satella onto his shoulder. She's sweating hard, must be genuinely scared of dying. Unusual behavior for an immortal being like a Dark Lord.

Suddenly, a blue flash of light swipes Miki off of the ground. She's now being lifted up in the air by yet another lady with weird looking clothes and, most importantly, giant wings. Following the current trend, you assume she is a Dark Lord as well.
>"Hey, Satella! Looking for this?! Bleehh!"
The new strange lady sticks her tongue out in a rude manner.
>"La Saizel?! So you were scouting this town alongside Rei then?!"
>"Meh, that was the plan, but Rei dipped I think, can't find him anywhere. Anyways, I'll be taking this here to Lord Kayblis now! See ya!!"

Satella summons a magic whip, and immediately wraps it around La Saizel's leg in one quick motion.
>"G-Geh... I really should've just gone away instead of stopping to talk- AYEEE!!"
Satella slams La Saizel, and consequently, Miki, into the ground. Both are protected from harm by their invincibility barriers, but the whip is still tightly wrapped around the flying girl's leg.
>"I'll hold her down! Ceasar, go kick her teeth in!"
>"YES. LADY SATELLA."
>"Eek! I need my teeth!"
La Saizel can barely lift herself up in the air, floating slightly above the ground like a poorly inflated balloon. She lifts up a gigantic gun out of her back, and aims it at Satella.
>"Take this!"
Freezing cold magic shoots out of its barrel, aiming towards Satella. Ceasar steps in front and takes the shot, but that leaves his legs frozen in place.
>"G-Good job Ceasar! Don't worry, Satella will beat up this old hag!"
>"Wh-Who are you calling old?! You're the one that should be ashamed, newbie!!"
La Saizel moves to the side and fires another ice laser at Satella.
>"S-Silence!!! Fire Arrow!!"
Satella counterattacks it with her own spell, it doesn't completely dissipate the laser, but it does stall it for a moment, giving her enough time to move to the side as well.
Kentarou is watching the fight with a tired look on his face. You assume this means this situation has happened at least once before.

The two Dark Lords are so focused on their little fight, that neither of them realise Miki is... standing to the side, watching. You could probably grab her and walk off easily, but this could be a crucial opportunity to hit one of these Dark Lords while they're distracted! Kentarou doesn't seem eager to join the fight, he didn't seem too scared of Satella, but maybe La Saizel is more than he can handle, or he just doesn't want to get involved. What will you do?

Standing in your way however, is... a little girl. She's wearing two massive gauntlets on both of her arms, her hands covered in the icy blue color commonly associated with ice-type magic. She must be related to that La Saizel woman from earlier.

Seriously, how many people are you going to meet today? This one looks weak, meaning she's probably super strong! It's best you get ready for a hard fight-

You and your squad run up the inn stairs and slam the room door shut. There's not enough space for this many people to sleep in the room Miki and Kentarou rented, but you'll probably be killed by a Dark Lord if you slept in the streets at this point.

Tomato grabs 6 potatoes and 2 carrots out of your bag (without asking for your permission) and heads towards the kitchen.

Miki follows up behind her, looking worried for our safety.
Kentarou immediately heads to one of the two beds, he must be really tired. Hannypold is sitting on the floor, looking tired too. Quite a big party increase since you came into this town, you hope it doesn't become too loud and annoying to handle...

Finally, a moment of peace! You have some time to kill, so it may be time to hang out with your party members! Miki let it slip she was the Little Princess a few minutes ago, but she didn't know you were there at the time. If you ask about it, they could either spill the beans and explain the situation, or maybe kill you to cover their tracks. If you talk with Chaos, you may be able to divise a strategy for dealing with them in case they try something. Who will you hang out with?

You lower your weapon, turn towards Kentarou and shake him awake.

After about an hour of lots of stuttering and ellipsis, you explain to him what you know. That he's a Dark Lord, and that Miki is the Demon King Little Princess. You do conveniently hide the fact that you are in this town with the purpose of killing her though, it might put him in a bad mood...

Kentarou turns to Miki and pats her sleeping head. She unconsciously smiles a sweet smile.
>"But, please believe me, we're not bad people! Quite the opposite actually, we've been running away FROM the bad people ever since we got... here. The past Demon King, I don't remember his name, but he wanted Miki-chan to take over the throne for some reason, we don't know why. I killed him using Nikkou-san but... it was too late. She already had absorbed the blood, and then she started... changing. Some gothic-looking clothes grew out of her skin, and she had this creepy look in her eyes. But we managed to suppress it, with this!"
Kentarou reaches into his bag and grabs a single lemon.
>"The Hirami Lemons can stop her transformation, but it's been getting less and less effective with time... Now one lemon barely lasts a few days, and it lasts even shorter if Miki-chan gets too stressed out. I need to keep her sane while I figure out how to solve... all of this..."
So, he has no long term solution to this it seems. Does he just plan to circle around The Continent until they can't take it anymore? Since they're demons, they don't have human life spans anymore, and without Chaos or Nikkou they can't even commit suicide if they wanted to. They'll just wander, forever, until they either succumb to their demon blood or stab themselves in the chest with a katana.

We've been looking for about 6 years, we've been everywhere from the freezing mountains of Helman to the miko shrines of JAPAN, and yet, I still seem to learn new stuff about this world every single day... And the other girl, the one with the whip and the rock dude, she's from a faction lead by the previous Demon King's daughter, Hornet. She wants Miki to turn into the Demon King and rule over the Monster Realm like her dad planned. But honestly, they're both huge jerks! Kentarou falls back asleep instantly. You also lie down on the floor, and start thinking about what you'll do tomorrow. If you follow these two around, Dark Lords will just keep appearing left and right, you'll never get a moment of peace. But at the same time, if you don't follow Little Princess, then what even is the point of this quest in the first place? And what if they run out of lemons and Miki transforms, what are you or Kentarou even supposed to do then? Fight the strongest being in The Continent head on? It'd be way easier to just get rid of her while she's like this... What will you do?

The morning rays of light shine through the window and wake you up. Took a while for you to sleep last night, you were thinking about a lot of stuff. You look at the bed where Miki and Kentarou were sleeping... they're gone! You look down through the window, looks like they're just about to leave!
>"Aaah! S-Slow down Quiet Guy, Tomato needs at least 5 minutes to brush her hair after waking up!"

You shake your crew awake in a rush and all three of you head down, running in search of the couple. Luckily, they were standing by the city gate, you arrived just in time!
>"Ah, you two... Sorry, we didn't really want to wake you guys up just to say goodbye, and we want to reach the Leazas Castle Town before the evening... What's wrong?"

Kentarou thinks about it for a second, looks at Miki, and answers.
"...alright. Leopold-san, Tomato-san... We'll let you come with us until we manage to solve... our problem. Then we'll go our own ways, alright?"
He looks really serious, he's probably worried you might try to do something to Miki, considering the conversation you two had last night.

You and your party cross through the gate, into the fields. An old-looking guard walks towards you and speaks up.
>"Hey, kids! You better watch out there y'hear! Some strong monsters caused quite a bit of ruckus last night, and we don't know where they went. Be careful!"
He points towards a pile of debris behind him, next to the city's walls. Crystals created by ice magic and craters were scattered everywhere, they were probably caused by the two Dark Lords from last night. You hope they're not still hanging around the fields...

Kentarou pulls a map out of his bag and points at where you are, North, then at the massive drawing of a castle to the right of your current location, the Leazas Castle Town. Looks like a very short distance away, but that's probably because the castle is drawn to look as big as it can be. You wonder if that map was drawn by a cartographer associated with the Leazas royal family...
>"Alright, Miki-chan, Tomato-san... Leopold-san. Let's just follow the path and we'll get there in a jiffy!"
And your adventure begins, once again! It's a short distance away, and in the peaceful plains of Leazas no less, not quite as exciting as they are back home... Anyways, you could always do something to spice this adventure up...

A couple hours pass. You're about halfway through the path, and... nothing has happened so far. Miki and Kentarou have been making small talk non stop ever since the walk started, and Tomato has become weirdly quiet, just observing the nature around her and breathing in the clean air of Leazas. If you were back in Helman you'd be fighting an army of wild monsters a minute this far away from a town, Leazas really is quite a peaceful country, too peaceful even.
You look behind you, Hannypold is walking right behind you, loyal as always. Not that he has a choice really, the capture rope forces him to follow your commands regardless of what he wants, but you have a feeling if he were still roaming around in the wild he wouldn't have lasted as long as he has, Haniwa tend to break quite easily. You reach your hand down and pat his head, like you've done many times before, you never realised having a monster pet would be so soothing.

His face always stays the same, but you can tell that, right now, he's happy. Strange, that you find reading human emotions so difficult, but yet you're perfectly capable of reading the emotions of a wild monster...

Woah! Something is glowing inside your bag?? You take it out and check its contents. It's that Hanny Card you got from that cultist girl, it now has 10 markings on its surface, and it's glowing! Something else rolls out of your bag, it's the Hanny King statue you got from that shop. It suddenly floats up in the air and shines brighter than the sun, covering your world in a blinding light.

Huh? Looks like you've been staring into space for some time. You look down towards your hand, you're patting Hannypold's blue head... Blue? Was he... always blue? Hmm... Yeah, I think so, right? Anyways, you decide to continue your walk.

After a few hours, you and your party arrive in Leazas' Castle Town, the capital of the kingdom! Crowds of people cover you from every direction, this place really is packed...

Osaka? Is that some village from JAPAN? You're not familliar with JAPAN's geography, it's on the other side of the Continent from where you live after all.

You, Hannypold and Kentarou turn right back around, going back into the fields of Leazas. Nothing wrong with some monster hunting, just like old times! Your party walks further into the fields, away from the town. Here we go, you quickly encounter two mobs of monsters, facing away from you. This is perfect, if you jump in from behind, and bring Hannypold to protect your back, you should be able to-

With a shout, a big wave of energy travels along the ground, reducing the two waves of monsters to ashes...

...Seems like someone here doesn't understand the point of hunting around for monsters. Seriously, it might be effective, but it's no fun if you just stand back and explode them to bits with a single attack...
An hour passes, you and Hannypold do manage to fight some stragglers, but Kentarou single handedly wipes out the rest without breaking a sweat. You look around, there aren't any monsters left in the area, it's been completely wiped out. So much for training...

Kentarou is saying some weird stuff again, so you decide to ignore him and look around. After a few minutes of walking, you find a cave in the middle of the fields. There's a sign in front of the entrance, but it looks really old, you can't read the letters painted on it.
Miki will probably be waiting for you three by the town entrance soon, so you should only have enough time to do one or two things before you have to meet up again, what will you do?

You and your party enter the local weapons shop. On the outside it looked strangely clean, almost too clean for a place where adventurers and thugs presumably stomped around daily. Looking around the insides of the store, it also looked immaculately clean... with the exception of a few blood stains covering the counter, seemingly still new.

A quiet little girl welcomes you from behind said counter, she looks way too small and frail to be the owner of a weapons shop in the middle of such an auspicious capital.

...the frail look might be some kind of trick. Maybe she's a ninja assassin or something... You better be careful.

I already archived it, I just want to get to a nice stopping point (which I think would fit the next update well) before pausing.

You walk back to the capital's entrance. Miki said she would be waiting there with Tomato after they finished looking around the library. You, Hannypold and Kentarou join back with her.

Miki grabs a book from behind her book and shows it to you. "The History of the Monster Realm" is written in dulled out golden letters. It sure doesn't look new.

Miki quickly flips around the pages until she finds the one she wants. It's a page telling the history of the Dark Lord PI-R. Apparently he used to be a normal human scientist with a great intellect, but his quest for knowledge lead to him developing a machine that could extract the Blood Souls out of Dark Lords, allowing him to turn into one himself.
>"If this guy could extract the demon blood from someone once, that means he can do it again! We just need to get to him, and make him turn us back to normal!"
