Welcome back.

Rules are simple: Votes are tallied every hour, with whatever course of action being the most popular being the course of action taken. Write ins are encouraged and non-mutually exclusive votes will be combined if possible.

When a roll is called for, roll however many D100 are specified. 5- is a 'crit fail' and generally means something bad is about to happen. 95+ is a 'crit success' and generally means something good just happened. a 'crit success' trumps a crit fail. User input on both will be taken into consideration.

For a short summary for the new and to recap:

You are Alex. A newly minted trainer and camping enthusiast just starting out on your journey at the age of seventeen after your father lost his job in order to help pay the bills. On the road, you met Fie, the Fire Gym Leader, Gareth a novice Aura Guardian on pilgrimage and Holly, a runaway heiress using a pseudonym. You've also made enemies of Team Green a group of violent, radical activists looking to abolish pokemon training.

Last time, you meditated, trained some more, left yourself drained and chased ghosts and wild pokemon through the gym while tired.

"Rascal, Agility!" You order.

He glows faintly, before you see the tempo of his wing beats increase as Gengar watches, looking for an opening to do something and coming up empty on one.

By your estimation, Rascal should just about edge Gengar out on speed now.

"Now, Aerial Ace!" You order just as Gengar lashes out with a shimmering wave of energy that misses Rascal by a mile as he tears into it with his talons, mauling it, but its aura is still a pale yellow-green like a bruise when they seperate.

It's tough and it doesn't look pleased about what just happened to it, but unless it pulls some fuckery, you're confident you'll be fine.

It disappears, before the ball rocks once, twice, then bursts open again, before the Gengar lashes out with a shadowy aura around its hands, hitting Rascal hard and putting his aura well into the orange.

"Roost!" You order and Rascal flutters in to land while you throw a ball to stymie Gengar and give Rascal a chance to recover unmolested...

At least, that's the plan, except Gengar destroys the ball with another blast, the follow-through on it putting Rascal well and truly into the red now. If he hadn't recovered from Roost, he'd be well and truly out for the count.

Despite how unsteady Rascal looks, he also looks pissed, glaring at Gengar, who only grins wider.

Gengar looks genuinely annoyed now and turns its attention to you.

Uh-oh.

Alex sidesteps the attack due to capoeira training kicking in with the footwork.
And that Gengar is gone after Rascal learned Nightslash on the fly.

Braviary can't actually learn Night Slash, oddly.

Rascal could after getting a one-off use here, but it'd require training.

>Braviary can't actually learn Night Slash, oddly.
Huh, that is a bit interesting.
I'd say he learns something like Whirlwind early and uses it along Aerial Ace, though I don't know if that would be crit worthy since we'll just be pushing the Gengar away and have to deal with it later (unless the Gengar also faints or something).
>>
>>5771540
So he picks up Gengars energy from Dark pulse and uses it for the Night slash on accident.
Will require training to do it again and use the move reliably but he has a start.
Make sure we praise him for it.

"Rascal, Aerial Ace!" You order as Gengar charges up another attack, this time throwing the energy your way.

You throw yourself sideways, out of the way and just catch a glimpse of the energy hitting... something before the ball detonates as Rascal swoops in, claws gleaming with that same dark energy and rends Gengar across the face with it, making it recoil and sending its health plummeting into the red.

You let out a gusty sigh, suddenly even more exhausted than you were, before trying another poke ball.

This time, it clicks on the first try.

"Thank Arceus that's over." You say, walking up as Rascal looks your way in concern.

When you get there, it's to see Fie talking on the phone as Cinder keeps some idiot dressed in a black robe with a scream mask pinned in a corner.

"Great work out there." She says as she hangs up the phone. "Turns out, this was all a big distraction so that idiot over there could break in." She adds, jerking her thumb at the man in the scream mask.

You quickly get changed and fall into bed, falling asleep inside five minutes.

You awake to the smell of bacon cooking and stumble out into the lounge to find Holly cooking while you can hear the shower running.

Holly nods.

"You've earned it." She agrees, before turning back to the food.

You help prep food for the rest of your team, before with a jolt, you remember in all the excitement last night, you didn't send Rusty's special food when you swapped him out, so you hurry to do that, before returning to the others' meals.

By the time you're done, Holly's plated up breakfast for you and you sit down to enjoy it.

It's just what you needed to hit the spot and you watch the rest of your team while you're eating.

They're all looking healthy and in good spirits, but you have to do a bit of a double-take when you look at Sage.

She's starting to sprout a red coat of fur from her back. A feature that was very much not there the other day.

You know she's getting close to evolving, but this doesn't look anything like the sort of volume and density that Delphox sport.

You shake your head. Something to look into later.

I'm not sure I like this. Also she hasn't displayed any behavior that goes in line with being one, the oddest things we've seen with this fur is her being clingy to Alex or acting overly cautious.
Besides Fie probably knows more about this sort of thing than Holly, being a fire type expert and all that.
>>

You yawn again as you finish your meal, before Holly hurries over to take your plate.

"Thanks." You reply, before stumbling off back to bed.

You fall back into bed gratefully and you're just about asleep again when there's a thud next to you and you look up to see Sage has come to keep you company.

Whatever. If she wants to keep you company, that's fine. Just so long as it doesn't wind up with some of death match between her and Syurm or something asinine.

You doubt anything like that will actually happen, but then, you never know.

***

When next you wake, you're uncomfortably hot, Sage is snuggled close and Fie is standing in the doorway smiling.

"Sleep well?" She asks.

"What time is it?" You ask.

You feel a lot better, but man you could use a drink right now.

"Lunch time. Feeling better?" She asks.

"A lot." You confirm as you haul yourself up. "Hey, do you know why Sage is starting to grow red fur on her back?" You ask.

"Yeah, Braixen do that before they evolve - grow a good crop of fur so they can weave a robe out of it when they evolve. It sheds really easily though." She explains. "Apparently it's really popular as a lining for cold weather gear. You're going to want to keep her around Syurm for the time being." She adds thoughtfully.

"Makes sense." You agree. "I was kind of wondering if it was indicative of her developing a different ability or something." You confess.

Fie giggles.

"I mean, if you want to commit some serious time to training, you could probably manage it." She says.

"I think I'd have to see what she has to say about that first." You admit as Sage sits up and yawns cutely.

"Probably a good idea." Fie agrees. "So. After last night and the whole thing with the Barrier Islands, I think you've just earned the right just to skip my gauntlet and battle me for your third badge. Or Emma, if you'd prefer." She says. "What do you say?"

"You don't have to. Everybody thinks it." Fie says. "Redmont's the next town after Saltcoast though, so you'll be facing him next regardless unless you take a boat down to Galeport or Ferrisville." She adds as you start packing, before heading to shower. "What're you going to do?"

This is the road for catching Mudkip, right?
>>
>>5784826

Yeah, if you're lucky with your encounter rolls.
>>
>>5784831
I want a mudkip since thread 2, I'll vote to camp on that road the time it will take.
>>
>>5784811
>>Head to Galeport (7) and challenge your mum.

I will openly ask her for tips against your dad and train my self there for a while while continuing this whole volunteer gig if i can.
Might bring her trouble tho with team green tagging after me.
Also can you ring up your brother to look after my family in case those crooks show up in Greenshot?
I trust my parents to know they can beat them back by the dozens but my siblings just got their first pokemon and should be allowed to take it slow home.

>Other
So i am facing Emma today. Time to get my ass handed to me.

>>5784881
Anon we got a friendly family of Swampert and Mudkip waiting on an island we will probably visit again anyway.
Right now we need:
>Rest
Alex and his pokemon need a break to heal up
>Training
The rest of our team both here and at home needs to catch up to KayO
>More training
We need to do power training i.e. max our main offensive stat EVs or defensive EVs.
>More and more training
We need to progressively teach our mons powerful moves in sequence and make sure they can use them safely
>Get TG to fuckoff by asking Winters for advice on how to lie low and dodge any tracking of theirs while we do the above.

Me thinks that maybe we will challenge Daniel before Fies dad.
His gym is more suitable for us to train our selves up at.
Before we go there tho Alex needs to go to various battle-clubs and small tournaments to make money.
>>
>>5784811
>Head to Galeport (7) and challenge your mum.
Wait are we going against Emma or Fie today? I'd personally like to battle Fie, seems more fitting.
>>
>>5785008
Emma
Our team while good enough to win a tier 3 badge is too imbalanced and we heavily relied on KayO so far.
So we need to get our asses kicked and see some foundational stuff at the 4badge or higher tier.
Better let Emma school us then.
>>
>>5785015
>implying Fie won't be able to kick our asses with her team if she tried
I feel a bit insulted for her.
>>
>>5785039
No but we can make it about Alex having a bit of pride...
"I do not want to be beaten to a pulp by my girlfriend just yet."
>>
>>5784920
>>5785008

"Head to Galeport." You reply as you set the shower running. "See if she'll let me train at her gym like I've been doing here."

"Yeah... uh, if you're serious about that, I'll warn you: Mum is a slave driver when it comes to training. You won't be doing anything until she's satisfied with your progress." Fie says seriously.

You don't reply for a minute while you digest this and focus on washing.

Given her attitude on South Crescent Island, you can well believe it.

"...So... You going to face me or Emma?" Fie asks as the silence stretches.

>Emma. I kind of want to face you when I've learned more.
>You. I'm kind of scared to see what she'd do to me.

4 badge challenge
>Other
I want to have a match with you later on when i am actually decent enough for you to go all out.
Also in regards to your mom, fine by me.
Ranger boot-camp had 1 month a year where we used to train with Army CO-s so if i have to train in the same fashion and get hazed into being a better trainer i do not mind.

Set up team for Emma.
>Blitz
Use him to wear down Emmas team reliably with recovery and Secret power/Dodging strats
>Sage
Screen setter+Psybeam spam (should have taught her Swift)
>Latias
Screensetter+Dragonbreath+Psybeam spam for lategame sweep
>Rascal
Main physical battler+Recovery with Roost
>Syrum
Spikes/Toxic spikes setter and then withdraw her to let her fight at an opportune moment or prevent her from being beat down

The rest of our team is either too tired like KayO or too low level like Ayumi or requires a timely evolution like Piker (i guess his Prism scale is just 1/3 grown right now).

Also flirt a bit with Fie.
Make it obvious Alex is feeling down about leaving so soon and not hitting enough on her.

"Emma." You reply as you shut off the shower. "I kind of want to face you when I've learned more so you can go all out."

"Hah. Flatterer." She replies as you start drying off.

"If I was going for flattering, I could do a lot better than just saying I want to have a real battle with you." You assure.

"Oh?" Fie asks.

You can just imagine her smiling at that.

"Go on..." She says and you can't help but smile yourself at that tone of voice.

Yep, she's smiling.

"Your perfume is beautiful." You reply. "I love watching you spar with Cinder because you move so fluidly, I love how down to earth you are and-"

You stop as the door opens and Fie steps in, blushing, before kicking it closed and silencing you with a finger on your lips.

"Can you not when Gareth and Holly are right there?" She asks, before throwing her arms around you and kissing you.

You're thrown and off balance for a long moment before you hug her back and return the kiss.

You stand like that for a long minute before there's a knock at the door.

"Um... can you make it quick? I kind of want to shower before we go." Holly says tentatively.

You and Fie seperate, before she giggles and opens the door.

"That's your sappy goodbye." She says. "Try that crap after you beat Emma and I'll kick your ass." She warns.

You smile.

"Sure thing.

It doesn't take long before you're dressed and packed, ready to go. Fie gives you a fresh brace of poke balls to replace the ones you used last night and you head for the Gym's main arena.

"Any last-minute changes you want to make to your team, now's the time." Fie says.

"Have you-" You begin, looking to Gareth.

"We've already got our battles in." He replies. "Fie wiped the floor with me and Holly won her battle."

"Guess it's just me then."

You make a brief stop at the PC to swap Queenie out for Blitz, before heading for the arena.

You get the impression that if she were even twenty years younger, she'd be cracking her knuckles.

"No, but here goes nothing." You reply, selecting Syurm's ball.

"This'll be a four on four battle." Fie says from the referee's position. "Switches are allowed, trainer-held items such as potions are forbidden. Begin when ready."

"Go, Coalossal." Emma says, releasing the hulking behemoth with a crash that shakes the arena.

"Syurm, you're in." you say, already with a sinking feeling.

There's a beat while you and Emma size one another up, before you give your orders:

"Syurm, Toxic Spikes!" You order.

"Coalossal, Stealth Rock." Emma says at the same moment.

Syurm scatters a spread of the wickedly sharp crystals just as Coalossal launches a barrage of rocks at your side of the field.

"How gracious of you." Emma says. "Now, use Spikes." She instructs Coalossal.

"Toxic." You order.

Syurm launches a spray of virulent purple liquid that splashes over Coalossal as it methodically spreads another layer of spikes on your side of the field, leaving your side a fractal hellscape of sharp edges.

"Alright, Coalossal, let's get started - Flame Charge." Emma orders.

"Protect." You order as Coalossal begins to lumber forwards, accelerating as it comes, before plowing into Syurm's barrier at a respectable, but still far too slow clip.

Maybe you will be able to outlast this guy.

That still leaves the other three pokemon Emma has in store for you, but even taking one down would be kind of huge for you at this stage.

"Syurm, Razor Leaf, go for the eyes and bait it in!" You order.

"Rapid Spin." Emma orders, supremely unconcerned as Syurm does as you order, luring Coalossal onto your side of the arena as it begins to spin, tagging Syurm, even with the distraction, but clearing your side of the field rather than its.

Syurm's looking moderately hurt though, her aura in the yellow, while Coalossal's is still brilliant green.

"Very clever of you, Alex." Emma praises. "But what's to stop me just doing that again, hm?" She asks.

"Nothing, really." You concede. "Sticky Web." You order.

"Rapid Spin." She orders in response and you abruptly realise you just screwed up.

Sure, Coalossal's Speed might take a hit, but if you had've went with Protect or Synthesis instead, you could've survived the Rapid Spin and reset some of your entry hazards.

As it stands, you're not sure that Syurm is going to be up after this...

Coalossal hunkers down and spins, sending all the Toxic Spikes and Syurm's web back at her, pelting her and leaving her aura an angry red, speckled with brilliant purple as the Toxic Spikes dig into her.

She shudders as the poison takes its toll, but nowhere close to as much as Coalossal does as its aura turns from a healthy green to a dull green as the poison in its system has its effect.
