It has been 100 years since ancient beings, known as the Old Ones, walked the Earth with their two strong feet. Now they are gone and we animals now rule the remains that they left behind. With our new knowledge of sword and sorcery, we were able to survive in peace for a while, but then came the three factions.
The Apes: Strong giants, claiming to be as just as the old ones and believe they should be the ones to rule over the new world.
The Pigs: An intellectual but slothful group who wish to rule the world with an iron hoof and remain kings while the others remained as dumb animals.
Then there the Lizards: A fast and large group that want to set the world a blaze. Trying to forget the harsh past that the old ones left.
All three sides wishing to go war and destroy one another to bring in what they believe to be true peace.
But, unbeknownst to everyone, there was another group. One that was trying their best to find a way to heal everyone. To bring back order.
You found it.... and now you are taking care of it.

A D&D Homebrew Adventure.

Last Time on the ROTA Campaign
>We just partied...
>I mean there was a huge ass lore dump from Elder Swift AKA Lanesboro but that was really only a footnote.
>Also there are wolves attacking the rabbits,
>That will be addressed when they finally arrive over at Canis Lupin.

Sessions are on Tuesdays and occasionally on Thursdays.
>>
>>5900203
Will be available tomorrow.
>>
I'm here. Thanks for whoever archived the thread just now. I was super out of it this week.
>>
>>5900935
Just woke up. But I am goin to wait and see if Ursus and Kinny show up first.
>>
>>5900935
Also I was the one who archived, took me a while to figure out but once I found the sup /tg/ - /qst/ archive was missing part 10, I knew you were probably sick and needed help so I tried figuring out how to fix that before it was too late. A lot easier than it looks.... I'm just bad at giving out tags and descriptions.
>>
>>5900973
Yeah, it's a lot easier than it looks, kinda why I think it's good to encourage QMs to learn to archive their own threads.

I'm not any more sick than I have been for the past couple of months, I've just been sleeping poorly for a week straight. Other than that I have a cough that just won't go away, again, I don't usually think coughs last for months at a time, but mine does for whatever reason.
>>
>>5900984
Hope you are doing okay. Here's hoping Kinny and Ursus shows up soon.
>>
>>5900992
I AM HERE
>>
>>5901030
Welcome friend! Looks like we're just waiting on Kinny now. Though he might not be feeling up to it still, or forgotten because his thread alarm isn't set up for this one.
>>
>>5901038
To be fair, would Kinny even get notifications for the new thread?
>>
>>5901044
Yes, that is what I meant. He wouldn't because this is a new thread and he hasn't set it up yet.
>>
>Mog arrives back at camp just in time to see an embarrassed Maggie rush back inside the tent while carrying a sleepy Kinny.
>Ursus and Caramel both outside the tent.
>Caramel giving out a confused look as she saw the human for the first time.
>>
>>5901098
>>5901030
"I take it the cat's outta the bag with Caramel and Maggie?" Mog inquired.
>>
>>5901098
So yeah that’s what humans look like, as stated by Maggie they are people who have faught the draconians or dragons because of a massive tragedy possibly between the two both species had the opportunity to step back and try to make peace but the draconians pushed the towards war by eating a child and so the war began and the fall of both locked in the fight for both species survival, humanity has created counter measures to survive creating great and terrible weapons to fight for their own survival and from that the used nihm which eventually made its way to our ancestors through the ecosystem
Humanity managed to create a way to freeze a human safely and then wake up centuries into the future.
>>5901112
She deserves to know because there is no way the apes or lizards will let them live with the information she already knows
>>
>>5901118
Nihm is what gave us the gift of thought from humanity and we are now people like they are we just need the time to advance in our own tech and understanding of the world
>>
>>5901118
This is basically a recap of what was already said in the previous post
>>
>>5901118
Mog sighed, nodding "Maybe. we don't even really know what the apes or younger lizards even know, do we?

He took out the silver axe, handing it over to Ursus gently "Here, from Lanesboro. Turns out the old fart didn't tell us everything he knew after all, 'cause he sure seems to have some insights on what's ahead that he didn't share with us earlier. I'm guessing our supposed bandits from Canis Lupin are actually a band of werewolves. Be careful, silver's rather soft, only use it on those accursed traitors, we only have one weapon for each of us."

>I give Ursus the silver axe.
>>
>>5901112
>>5901118
>>5901121
>>5901131
>Caramel looked at Ursus for a bit.
>She then pulls out a small statue.
"Huh... I thought they looked like this."
>She says as she shows Mog and Ursus the statue.
>Looks to be extremely old.
"Either way.... I do still seem to find her just as attractive..."
>>5901135
>Caramel's attention then went towards the silver weapons.
>Almost breaking her concentration on Maggie like a bullet breaking glass.
>She then ran up to the old wolf.
"Holy shit! God killers! Where did you find such weapons?! I thought these things were melted after the dragon died?! Can I touch it?!"
>>
>>5901135
>Ursus examines the weapon, the axe’s weight and distribution it’s grip and the sharpness of the blade to see if the metal has any defects in its forging
Why silver? Typically silver is regarded as a religiously pure metal, but I have also herd it to have antiviral and anti fungal properties is it possible that what we could be facing is some form of abhorrent evil or disease?
You know this reminds of the the frozen kings axe, he carried a gray big silver axe that legend said makes lights in the sky with all the colors in a rainbow
>Ursus muses
>>5901141
Hmm god killers you say I had not herd of this lore
>>
>>5901141
Mog made a face "Gross, looks like an ape with a beehive for a head."

Caramel continued to squick the old timer out with her fantasies of interspecies copulation.

He backed up a step as she ran up to him spewing deranged untruths, his face morphing like clay in a child's paws from disgusted to perplexed. "What are you talking about? They're just silver weapons Caramel, we literally have enough silver coins to make enough weapons for a whole army. Don't speak of those who turned their back on the Moon as if they had even a fibre of divine substance in their wretched bodies!"
>>
Rolled 15 + 4 (1d20 + 4)

>>5901141
History check
(Does this artifact remind him of some of the artifacts discovered by his enigmatic extended families discoveries)
>Ursus examines this artifact while gently handing caramel the axe
>>
>>5901152
"Ugh, can you let her look at yours, I don't want her damaging the blade, the head of your axe should be more resilient at least." he said, foisting her off onto the bear with a push.

Mulling over the bear's words, he eventually settling for shrugging. He didn't know for sure it was werewolves, it could be anything. Even a way to signal to the border guards that they weren't walking corpses that had let heavy spirits settle into their bodies. A tap on the shoulder from a guard's blade would check if they were spiritually pure or not, even better if the party had silver weapons of their own to render the possibility of them being unholy impossible.

"Maybe...maybe. We'll see."
>>
>>5901162
>Ursus has in fact seen this artefact before.
>But they were a lot smaller, not made of stone, and were attached to chains.
>Must have been replicas.
>Though there were some notes attached to them that somewhat explained the history of the piece.
>Though they were mostly in human writing.
>Thanks to this rabbit though you now know this is a fertility statue.
>Honestly Kinny's statues did look a lot better...
>Then again who are you to judge humanity's taste of women.
>>5901156
>>5901175
"Oh... they're just made of Silver coins."
>Caramel said, now looking unexcited.
"Sorry. Still silver weapons were said to be the way they killed the dragon. Remember the tales did say they carried shining weapons... at least the rabbit version of the story did. Not sure if your stories mentioned if the weapons were shiny or not. Either way, silver did kill immortal beings...."
>Caramel then went towards Mog's face as their eyes locked.
"Also werewolves are fake. Fact. They're just wife's tales made by mothers to scare pups to stop walking on two legs."
>>
>>5901178
This is Indeed a human fertility statue but it’s age insane also I have seen crazier things exist I can totally see this werewolf existing so regardless keep your guard up (ursus remembers the tree gorilla hybrids) >shiver
>>
brb in a bit.
>>
>>5901178
"Silver is special, holy even, but also common place. You are right about the tales, but they may be just that, tales. The weapons may not have been silver, they could just be steel but enchanted. Even a spell cast on the weapons in the heat of battle could've made the memory of shining weapons worm its way into history. Besides, you're conflating immortality with godhood, undead are immortal in a sense, so is that rabbit you were talking with, but he isn't a god either. Don't mistake demonic creatures for their opposite, foolish girl." Mog retorted.

His eyes met hers. Stoic amber versus excited, cocksure spectacles. "They do exist, you know nothing of them. Do not speak of things you presume to not exist because you think you've outgrown your mother's wisdom"

Of course he was speaking from a place of arrogance as well. He'd never seen one. The chaplain had been adamant they existed and expounded on their many transgressions against lupinekind and the Moon. Paladins he had met before becoming one himself had also assured him that they'd fought such horrid traitors.

He caught himself drifting off into memory, now was not the time to try and remember the metaphysical nature of werewolves, what little of it he remembered from scripture and gossip.
>>
>>5901263
Enough discussion about religion we will find out when we get there
>>
>>5901285
"Right. We've spent enough time in this town. Lets go"

I thought we were delaying because it'd be awkward to go to the next encounter without Kinny. Though I'm eager to move on too. We've spent an enormous amount of time in this one place, too long I say.

"Right. We'll find out when get there."
>Caramel said, mostly saying it towards Mog.
>Honestly very rude of her if you asked the wolf.
>He knew what he was talking about.
>She went back to Ursus.
>Suddenly you heard something approaching you.
>It was then you spotted Adler.
>Pulling a wagon behind them.
>Adler soon stopped in front of their tent.
>Soon out of the wagon came the Chief of the Cottontails, Len.
>Len then approached the group.
"I thought you guys could use a ride. Usually it takes about 50 of us to pull one of these, but..."
"It took only one of me to do that."
>Adler stated, looking a bit proud of himself for carrying it that far.
"But it would be helpful if Ord, and Potato could help out too."
"Point is I saw all of you carrying all that stuff. Thought the wagon might be a fine addition. Though I am willing to leave it behind if you don't need it."
Accept the wagon, you will be noticed a lot more if you take it but will travel faster with it if you take it.
>>
>>5901302
"Well, look at you Adler. Nice going, this'll make for a smooth ride. Sure you don't want one of us to pull it? It's a bit much to pull all of us the whole way with just the cats to help." Mog said, whistling as the wagon came into view.

He didn't share that they wanted to be spotted. Confronting these bandits could only be good for rabbit-wolf relations, werewolves or not.
>>
>>5901302
Yeah we should take it you and be can take shifts pulling the cart and before you take offense it not recommended to tired before fighting
>>
>>5901308
>>5901315
"I was thinking maybe asking you or Ursus for help. Maybe have you lead us since the wolves would definitely trust other wolves. But I figured you guys needed the rest. Besides with the help of Harold the slime we would always be completely energized enough to pull this wagon all the way to Canis Lupin."
>The slime coos as it nuzzles its deer owner.
"But if you want to volunteer to join us that would be fine. I just don't want you guys to hurt yourself."
Volunteer?
>>
>>5901318
"Lets take shifts, you and the cats can go first if you want, then Ursus or I can switch out while you guys get to rest."
>>
>>5901320
Shifts would be ideal
>>
>>5901320
>>5901328
"Fair enough. I got the cats other than Kinny to gather our belongings. All we need now is for everyone to enter the wagon."
>Adler says.
>Suddenly Maggie arrives out in her bunny disguise dragging Kinny out of the tent.
>Though...
>It was easy to tell she was having trouble.
"Right! We'll be there in a sec."
>Maggie says as she grunts to get the sleepy cat in the car.
"You're a lot heavier than usual Kinny. I love you but you got to pick yourself up a bit and move."
Help Maggie out?
>>
>>5901334
Mog stood stock still, watching. Internally he was laughing it up. A perfect image, a rabbit trying to lift a cat bigger than she was. Good times.
>>
Sorry for being slow. Finally got my washer working after it was frozen last week. Been doing laundry on the side.
>>5901340
"Could really use some help here."
>>
>>5901372
No worries, last Wednesday was freezing cold. We can stop soon if you want, we probably ought to wait for Kinny anyways, even if it feels like we are moving at a snails pace trying to get back to our usual pace.

The wolf walked and laid down, letting the transformed human push Kinny onto his back so that he could deposit him onto the wagon bed.
>>
>>5901383
Probably best we wait for Kinny. I think today was a good session anyways. Sorry again for being slow.
>>
>>5901334
Tell me when you want to switch out ok Adler we are carrying some heavy cargo
>>

>As everyone got in on the cart, it was then finally time to enter Canis Lupin.
>It would take half a day but there still should be some daylight left before you arrive.
>The wagon was a very comfortable ride to say the least.
>Much better than carrying everything in a makeshift sled.
>Enough to keep a very sleep cat still sleeping.
>Kinny and Bobby were both still asleep at this point.
>Meanwhile Maggie was still in a tent that was pitched inside the wagon incase her ring was about to fade out again.
>Still it got the Cottontail Chief curious about that.
"So... what's with your rabbit friend good sirs?"
>Len asks the group.
>>
>>5908857
Oh slid mean caramel or Maggie?
>>
>>5908866
"Your friend in the tent. I already know Caramel's deal... not all the details mind you but most of them."
>>
>>5908868
Well Maggie was around the group before I joined but she’s experienced a lot of conflict from where she’s from, she’s a skilled fighter and a good friend.
>Ursus scratches the side of his head in thought.
Honestly she does remind me of other rabbits back home, (before I joined them I was a farmer, although my dad taught me how to fight like a warrior of the clans in our homeland as tradition) these rabbits where tough as nails and sharp as them too, before I was born these rabbits survived raids, famines and crop plagues and yet they still survived stoic as they brought the harvest to sale i believe they where the Uestace family had some good memories with them after assisting the harvest of grain and vegetation
>>
>>5908875
"Huh? Neat. So... why did she pitch a tent in the wagon and is currently hiding in it?"
>>
>>5908877
That’s more personal to her and I’m not at liberty to explain no offense.
>>
>>5908879
"Fair enough good bear. Though I am interested in hearing more about this Uestace family are they like a tribe like we were?
>>
I couldn't get myself to do anything for weeks. Ghosted a bunch of other games I was a part of, not just this. Sorry I said nothing, I need to take a break for a bit.
>>
>>5908886
That's Fine Friend. Your health is more important. If you need to focus on healing yourself more, than do so. Give yourself some love and rest.
>>
>>5908886
Get well soon but don’t rush your health
Your health comes first.
>>
>>5908885
They are more a family of rabbits who had claimed some of the plots of land next door to my property, so we tended to see each other often when managing the harvest and sowing seed, although they did have an old contraption they got from a wandering merchant that allowed them to plow the fields much easier. Whenever I had the chance to enjoy their company they told stories about their family and about the accomplishments of relatives and themselves such as the warrior rabbit, a scribe of stories, a bard of great renown, they do still celebrate the remembrance of Relm although they don’t have access to the amount of old one tech you do, this hasn’t stopped them from recreating those songs I herd last night

Further toward the warmer climates of the continent a place called west valley although there a lot of places called west valley so look for the place with a massive ridge line it’s known for its copper deposits and it should have a recreation of the frozen king near its center (my family carved the statue being one of the original founders) here is a sketch of the map to it
>>
>>5908919
"A Frozen King. Fascinating. I'll be sure to visit there when the time comes. I'm sure the family would like to join us one day. In fact we have tried many times to invite not only other rabbits but other species as well to celebrate Relm's life. Even by sending out invitations to close loved ones. But they never seem to respond. I guess they assumed it was only a rabbit thing. But I know Relm wouldn't want that. Relm would have wanted all animals to celebrate her wonderful life. Don't you agree?"
>>
>>5908927
Oh absolutely other animals would definitely wish to celebrate the life she has experienced and be thankful for the lives she has saved.
>>
>>5908928
"But wouldn't that mean inviting the lizards, apes, and pigs as well?"
>A certain fox asks.
>Jenkins then decided to add himself in the conversation.
"As much as I enjoyed the festivities, you are literally asking too much for all these animals to get along. Do you really think that we can literally tolerate each other for so long to celebrate a life that was barely put into our history? Because I seeiously doubt that we would last five minutes in the same room together. Especially if a Lizard was there. You really expect a lizard to accept you having all these human artefacts and not try to burn it all down?"
>>
>>5908936
That is a good point Jenkins so if you want that dream to become reality you will need to learn how to defend yourselves and your property from those who would deface or destroy, if you want peace prepare for war
>>
>>5908939
>The Rabbit Chief looks at both the fox and bear.
>Both had strong points.
>He continued to linger on their words for a bit.
"Prepare for war? Seems like an over reaction don't you think? I don't think Relm would want us to fight right?"
>>
>>5908940
I said be prepared to to go to war not actually go to war, if you look prepared to endure conflict, to be able to fight those that would oppose and oppress you, that fighting you would cost too much bloodshed then it they will not fight you, or at least the people under them will not fight you, it’s all about deterrence not actually going out and causing harm, understand? Like a suit of armor for a nation it’s to make them look like a bad target to attempt to destroy
>>
>>5908943
"I guess that makes sense."
>Suddenly the wagon stops.
>It becomes quiet.
>You can hear Adler talking to someone.
Investigate?
>>
>>5908945
I’m going to go back up Adler handle whatever is going on.
>Ursus moves to the front of the cart hand on the hilt if the silver axe

Hey, I'm here. Sorry for being so late. I'll catch up now and try to get a post out.
>>
Rolled 8, 20 - 2 = 26 (2d20 - 2)

>>5908886
No worries friend, it happens to the best of us. For real though, I think all of us have probably ditched quests, games, even real life friends at some point (or at least I have, I shouldn't speak for others). Sometimes you just need time to yourself, it's worrisome for us but no explanation is really needed. At least we know you're okay and still around. Take care.

>>5908936
Mog listened in silence, just letting Ursus and the chief talk, only breaking his quiet to grunt in vague agreement with Jenkins.

>>5908945
The wolf rolled sideways with the motion of the wagon as Adler suddenly stopped. He brought his paw up to his maw to indicate to Ursus that he was going to attempt a quiet approach from the rear. Making his way out the back of the vehicle, he whispered to Caramel as he passed "Please tell Maggie something is happening."

Then he tried his best to lower himself from the cart bed to the ground without jingling his plate armour or making any noise.

>I exit the back of the wagon, attempting stealth as I do so, with disadvantage.
>>
>>5909066
>>5908950
>Even though Mog tried to be stealthy, he ends up being just as easily seen as Ursus.
>Thinking it would probably be stupid to try and be stealthy at this point of being seen Mog just simply continues while trying to make it look like he was casually walking up to them.
>Ursus and Mog soon see what stops them.
>Two Mastiff Hounds wearing chain collars around their necks.
>A sign that they are on parole.
>Biggest fuckers you have ever seen.
>At least dog wise.
>Though you could swear that Poco did look a bit stronger than them.
>The giant hounds look down at you.
"Sorry about this. Community service and all that lot."
>Says one of them.
"We need to know what brings you to the entrace to the wolf kingdom."
"Are you like salesmen?"
"Entertainers maybe?"
"Or are you some fuck head who wishes to speak with the Queen herself?"
"Been getting a lot of those lately?"
"They always act so high and mighty."
"That is until they see the queen, then they get upset."
"That or angry. Like they wanted a seat with the queen or something."
"Remember that one guy who wanted to bed the queen?"
"Oh yeah he went out of the country in a body bag."
"I remember it being five."
"No it was clearly one."
>There was an awkward squabble between the two before they went back to you.
"Oh sorry. What are you entering the kingdom for again?"
>>
>>5909101
>>5908951
Oops meant to tag Ursus not myself.
>>
>>5909101
Well Adler me and a group of rabbits are traveling to find a group of bandits who have mugged stolen and harmed a few members of the town we have come to investigate the reasons and possible motives and deliver proper justice to the vagabonds responsible
>>
>>5909110
As well as my party
>Ursus indicates the team to these mastiffs
>>
>>5909110
"That would be Canaan."
"Yeah sounds like Canaan."
"Runt of the Litter Canaan is what canines here called him."
"No not the common folk only hounds who have been to the pound like us."
"Oh right. Sorry only bad dogs know him as Runt of the Littler Canaan."
"Although he is a very small wolf."
"That's why he always goes after smaller animals like rabbits. Easy to steal from them."
"I mean yeah but they got knives to fight wolves back."
"But Canaan and his gang also have knives."
"True true yes. But when have wolves ever been good with knives?"
"Canaan is good with knives."
"Fuck! You're right!"
>>
>>5909124
So his gang is still here? Is his group protected by the your governing polity? It doesn’t seem like so from the way you describe the group iether way they earned the attention of the rabbits leaders who want justice like us.
>>
>>5909115
"That doesn't look like a bunch of rabbits."
"Yeah those look like cats pulling that vehicle."
"Seems kind of cruel. Everyone knows that hooved animals make better wagon carriers."
"Hey don't say that! Remember! We got thrown in the pound because of that."
"Oh right sorry. Didn't mean to offend your deer friend. You're very capable and very trustworthy deer friend, who is actually your friend and not a food resource, and will probably not commit any sexual crimes."
>Adler looked at the both of you confused on how to react to the mastiff hounds obviously racist view towards deer.
>>5909124
"Nope not in this city."
"But we have been searching for him."
"Well more like the other guards."
"Still we've been trying to spot him as well."
"Yeah we have been."
"But we clearly haven't spotted him."
"Not one bit."
>>
>>5909126
>>5909135
Dammit! Why am I clicking the wrong message. Sorry Ursus.
>>
>>5909135
Just take the awkward (apology(?))compliment
>Ursus looks at Adler with an apologetic :| face and then switching back to a neutral face.
Well that’s certainly something at least, we are probably going to find them by traveling along with rabbits if he thinks them truly meek. Thanks for the information though and help.
>>
>>5909150
"Oh right good lucky bounty hunting them then."
"I don't think they were bounty hunting them."
"Shit you're right! Otherwise they would have been leaving by now!"
"They still want in the city and the head guards said they need a good reason to enter."
"Right! State your business on why you wish to enter the kingdom of the wolves... unless it's like to talk to the sheriff to bountyhunt."
"Because that is towards the west a bit more."
>>
>>5909101
>>5909124
>>5909135
"Ahem," Mog cleared his throat to get their attention, "your inane views of our friend aside, we're not just here to track down Canaan and bring him to justice, though that is important if Canis Lupin wants to avoid war with the rabbit tribes. We are in fact here to speak to the Queen and the assembly."

He pulled out his rank insignia for the dogs to see "I'm returning from the stay-behind guerrilla operation in the south, late, I know, but I was briefly taken captive before escaping. During my party's adventures to stay afloat we acquired information on the Old Ones that the Queen will want to know. Furthermore, we salvaged an armoury of Old One weapons, but were robbed by the Forest Guardians, who I believe are now seeking an audience with the Queen. Well, not only have we discovered the Forest Guardians to be a bunch of murdering cultists who abduct and indoctrinate people, but those weapons aren't even theirs to sell, moreover they do not have the ammunition for those weapons, we do."

Sucking in a deep breathe, he said "So, I am demanding an audience with the Queen, though I'll settle for a senator or someone from the assembly if she can't meet us on short notice."
>>
>>5909162
>The mastiff hounds look at the badge.
"Hey isn't this old Mog?"
"Thought he was insane or dead?"
"Quiet can't you see he's here?!"
"But he has to be deaf at this point...."
>The two mastiff hounds look at each other before going back to Mog.
>They then hand him an important document.
"THIS ALLOWS YOU TO SEE THE QUEEN GOOD SIR!!"
"NO HARD FEELINGS ON YOUR HORNY FRIEND!!"
"HOPEFULLY THE QUEEN ACCEPTS THIS DOCUMENT THAT ALLOWS YOU TO AT LEAST ENTER THE CASTLE!!!"
"Do you think we will get out of parole once he enters?"
"I don't know but the priest said anyone who brings in Mog gets a good reward."
>>
>>5909174
>Ursus face palms
>He then stiffens at the reward bit
What do you mean by turn him in for a reward?
>Ursus’s grip on his axe tightened at that
>>
>>5909174
"I'm sure you'll be appropriately rewarded for your good behaviour, though some friendly advice big guys, might wanna work on your attitude towards the ungulates. A little fun between species is nothing to worry about, but running your mouths like you did is gonna keep you out of civil society unless a war sours relations with our fellow animals." Mog lectured.

He looked over his shoulder, nodding the party forward "Now if that is all, we'll be on our way."

Walking over to Adler he murmured "Here buddy, let me take over carrying the wagon. You can rest in the back. It's probably better if I'm the first thing people see, we don't want to be stopped constantly by patrols or onlookers."
>>
>>5909192
Mog tensed, sensing the bear's caution. Right! The old timer had assumed that his people would be happy to see him return, but Ursus had a different - perhaps clearer - perspective. It might be nothing, or it could be a good catch on his part. His superiors might assume that he was a spy, he was captured briefly by the apes after all, or they might think he'd gone AWOL.

Still, he couldn't let violence break out. Not with his own people. If his superiors had questions, he'd happily answer them.

Whispering to Ursus, he said "Good catch, didn't think they meant anything by it. No violence though, these are my people. If they take me in for any reason, just continue the plan with Kinny."
>>
>>5909192
>>5909193
>>5909196
"The priest wants because-"
"We shouldn't tell him! Then he'll take our reward!"
"Right! Ummm...... you may enter the Kingdom of Wolves!"
>The two mastiffs move out of the way for everyone.
>As you all travel a bit further inside Adler then hears your offer.
"I'm fine. Remeber I got Harold constantly healing and buffing me. But I think Ord and Potato do need a break. You and Ursus are free to take their places if you want."
Switch with Ord and Potato?
>>
>>5909197
"Sure, Ord, lemme take your spot, you can go rest in the back."
>>
>>5909197
Go ahead and take a break with ord potato I’ll take the other side.
>Ursus nods at potato as he gets ready to take over.
>>
>>5909199
>After getting settled in, Mog, Ursus, and Adler continue to carry the wagon onwards.
"So Mog."
>Adler begins to ask.
"What exactly is Wolf Country like? Do I have to eat meat there?"
>>
>>5909210
"Well, I haven't been back home in many years actually. The journey back north was a years long trek by foot, with many detours. I had to support myself with mercenary work, it's how I met Kinny and other members of the party that are no longer with us. So I honestly couldn't tell you a 100% accurate picture of what to expect. I do think you can expect us to be poorer than we were before though, if only a little bit. We were kinda losing the Faction War before we cut our losses, hard to believe as it is given that we had the strongest army back then and from what Lanesboro said, we came back even stronger from the lessons learned. You weren't here when we speculated on this Adler, but I think the reason the apes were winning was because they had stockpiles of guns that they used up in the initial phases of the war. I was operating on the flanks and the rear of the enemy though, so I never fought in any battle where I saw the apes using guns, it's all just guesswork and rumours I've pieced together in tavern halls on how we lost the area south of Great Lakes, and the coast."

Taking a deep breathe in, he adjusted his grip on the wagon's lever, before continuing on "To answer your question...hmm...no, you won't have to eat meat. There's a river around the ruins of a big human city, the capital, fertile soil for crops, grain and fruits and the like. Likewise the prairies to the west supply food other than meat, and because we're at peace now trade is flowing, so we can get fruit from even further west or places like Plato down south, or by the coast if we want luxuries from even further south."

Pausing his dietary monologue, he let them meander down the road for a spell, gathering his thoughts. When he was ready he said "As for how my home country is like, hmm, I'd say it's different from the south. I can safely say that now that I've seen and lived in the south for however many years now. The human ruins are less grand, far smaller than the ones down south, but paradoxically I'd actually say we're more populous and prosperous than the other factions, at least in some ways. I'll put it this way, the pigs are wealthier, I hate to admit it but they know how to finance initiatives to get big projects done. Likewise they and the apes inherited bigger human cities, more free infrastructure and tech to scavenge. But, our country is huge, we don't live like humans do, we can make do without the massive cities and manage to live comfortably."

Realising he was waffling, not getting to his point, he tried to just say what he meant "Basically, it comes down to two things: one, we have a lot of open living space; and two, our social institutions are better than the other factions, encouraging population growth and a more cohesive society. To compare us to the apes, we have less extremes in terms of wealth and poverty. We're poorer on average, but everyone gets by, lots of natural resources and friendly neighbours willing to help each other,-
>>
>>5909210
>>5909309
-a strong vision of what we want society to be like and to work towards. The pigs and apes are wealthier, but the apes feel like they only care about themselves and not any other animal group in their kingdom, they pretend to be a strong centralized kingdom, but having myself wandered through their lands like water through a sieve, I'd say they are more like an oppressive state with a huge decentralized network of self-interested vassals that pay taxes and gives conscripts and contributes nothing else to the greater society. Strong military to prevent resistance and ensure tax compliance, but weak administration, so they're unable to properly coordinates all their little formerly independent city-states. Whereas the pigs are just merchants with a state."

Pushing the cart along, he let the silence linger now that he thought he made his point. There wasn't much else to say other than repeat himself or add minute details. Not that he minded doing that.

Feeling there was more he could say to answer Adler's question, he rambled on "I felt like a lot of the cities in ape land we're practically still independent, though I guess my unit's activities certainly helped things stay that way. Sometimes they had a meagre garrison, or a armed tax collector who came through every year or so, but not much ape presence aside from that. Lots of other kinds of animals, all conquered by the apes. Like I said, no administration to direct anyone who wasn't a hominid of some kind to work towards the empire's goals."

Again, he had resorted to speaking about the untamed wilds of the ape lands, with their patchwork country full of stitched together lattice of human ruins turned into city states and enclaves of obscure animals. He found little to say about his own country, the struggle to properly answer Adler was real. The old wolf had lived so many of his recent years in ape lands, he struggled to recall his own home.

Visibly squirming, he sighed and said "Look, I don't have much to say other than compare, I've not been home in what feels like more than a decade, it was a long war, okay?! I'm rambling, and it isn't helping, but I'll keep trying to paint this picture. So, most of the human cities dot our current borders with the apes and pigs, we'll pass through them soon. Past that are the fields, woods, gardens, and mountains, where most of us live. Unlike the south, I guess you could call us more rural, though we do have big cities like the capital Magfleurmen in the ruins of that big human city, or the holy city of Laurentide built directly into the mountains north of us, or the forest city of Silva. Food, wood, ore and metal, all are plentiful, you can make whatever you want in any number of nice places to settle. It's luxuries and Old One technologies that are absent, except by the border, the cities and the coast. Lots of communities of different animals fleeing the war, a decent urban human-rural animal lifestyle, you'll like it."
>>
>>5909309
>>5909313
You have been through much I have to really think on but it sounds all in all a long exhausting journey you have been through
>>
>>5909210
Sorry for taking forever, you kinda caught me off guard. Wasn't expecting to have to do a worldbuilding post. Kinda ended up rambling. Feel free to pick and choose what you think is true from what Mog says. His opinions of his home are probably true regarding the period from before the war, and some (maybe all, or maybe not) of the rumours of what his home is like during/post-war may be correct, but I tried to convey that Mog hasn't been home in a long time and is struggling to remember what it was like. Also, in case it wasn't clear, what Mog means by urban human lifestyle/rural animal lifestyle is that he is assuming through the prism of his own biases that the 'correct' animal way to live is a bit more rural, but that they imitate how they think humans used to live by using cities as meeting places, housing, workshops/factories, etc so as to not waste the utility of the past. He thinks based on what he was taught, that a balance is needed. Human technology is useful for sustaining a high quality of life, and old human buildings are good shelter, but he thinks a more rural or even semi-nomadic lifestyle is more appropriate for the spiritual/psychological needs of most animals, and that being physiologically more suited for living without technology allows animals to make better use of the vast tracts of land in Canada better than the Old Ones did, since (though he wouldn't know this) animals would be less tied to the border or the Laurentian River system around Ontario, for example. The assumption of being more populous is just that, an assumption on his part, based partially on his observations and partially on his opinion that oppression makes it unlikely for animals to start families, and the perhaps silly idea that because Canis Lupin is big, the population must also be big. His ideas of what constitutes the good life and his ideas on the superiority of a rural animalkind lifestyle contributes to that.

So yeah. Sorry for being so slow.
>>
>>5909325
"It's been a rough journey. One day maybe I'll the share the rest, from before Xana, maybe even before I met Kinny." Mog sighed.

"Speaking of journeys, how was yours? After you killed Kar, I mean. How'd you end up in the city where we met, Ursus?"

Oh I have been rucking it as my people did when exploring the wild and untamed nature I had to fight a bugs and a strange 8legged thing it took a lot to fight the 8legger it showed too much thought for a beast it has a tactical mind and kept tempting me into traps of web and falls I eventually managed to get it stuck in its own webbing setting fire to it, too bad it was already too charred to recover any useful food or material. I doubt that will be the last I see if it’s kind.
>Ursus hands out his little sketch of the creature
So let this be warning when traveling alone when you see these 8 loggers tread carefully because they are thinking beasts
>>
>>5909348
As for the city well I was basically indulging in my hidden past time of exploring old one history trying to solve small questions that I come across or the ones that have remained in the underground archeological community it was then I noticed what could only be thought of as an actual old one in your company and that got my imagination running on overdrive
>>
>>5909362
>>5909363
"Eight Legs? From the description of the web I thought it was silk from the moths. But it's the eight legs that throw me off. Strange bug I assume. Must be some sort of varient of a moth."
>>
>>5909362
"Horrifying. Yes, I think we've talked about the insects before, a good conversation. Strange to hear about one so wise to the ways of war though. Maybe they really do have their own society, with the accompanying knowledge of battle along with it. Perhaps they are hidden out there, in the wilderness, between borders, amongst the brush between settlements. When we were leaving Xana with Maggie in tow, we fought a giant grasshopper that had slaughtered a group of pigs, our former employers. Before even that, Kinny and I ran into giant bumblebees, at once both fluffy and kind, yet terrifying and dangerous. Hugs and honey were freely given, but also a sting to the ass if you broke some alien criteria of theirs. Shame we had to spill blood and flee from the vale in the end."
>>
>>5909366
Indeed an interesting frontier for those bold to explore and path a path toward coexistence among these strange alien beasts but that’s a future goal to strive for
>>
>>5909363
"Ah, so you saw us on our way into the city. That explains that. What's this about an underground archaeological community? You aren't being literal with the underground part, are you? How'd you get so wise in regards to the Old Ones anyways? Kinny and I only grew to know so much just weeks prior to meeting you."
>>
>>5909363
>>5909370
"Well, I say weeks, but that was when we met Maggie, I should really say we only learned so much scarcely an hour or even minutes before meeting you, from the message in the bunker."
>>
>>5909370
No not actually underground you see through familiar relations to good freinds a large community of hobbyists historians effectively would create this web of information gathering for artifacts and heresay, say some one finds a strange bunch of bones they would know a freind who they could call to possibly identify something without calling upon the wrath of the apes or lizards
>>
>>5909377
This freind can quickly ferry the bones away under the nose of the apes and lizards
>>
>>5909380
The reason why I know so much is through these historians creating writings and spreading it across to their communities trickling down to avoid suspicion. Of course mind you I don’t have near an enough of an understanding as the rabbits have shown and this community of scholars has extremely scarce materials on the oldest nes so alot if speculation is common
>>
>>5909377
>>5909380
"Ah, interesting. I'm of deeply mixed thought on this. Keeping censored knowledge alive is incredibly important, but you know my thoughts on uninterred bones and those who dig them up. As long as they were properly buried, all is well. I know you weren't there for when Kinny and I met the mole in Plato, but I think we told you about the incident afterwards. Not my best moment, but I had to keep true to myself and prevent the corpse from rising and hurting anyone."
>>
>>5909399
Oh no don’t worry about it it’s a common source of contention among the group when it comes to these remains being properly put to rest and now what with the remains having possible still living relatives I imagine they will have a whole new problem to resolve
>>
>>5909415
"Such as what are we going to do with the old ones right?"
>Adler asks.
>>
I think I need to call it a night for this session. I've gotta handle some stuff and make dinner in an hour. We can sprinkle some posts in throughout the week before next session if we feel like continuing on non-session days. Though I know that me no-showing in response to some of those early posts kinda put that idea in the grave, for which I'm sorry for. Anyways, gotta go, take care guys.
>>
>>5909418
Indeed personally I’m for bringing them back as I have already discussed, but I’m not blind by the side effects of that choice, or what might occur as a result and a shift in the common perception of the old ones
>>
>>5909427
Not to mention where will they fit in terms of of political positions, how will they be viewed by everyone, how might they fit physically in this present I mean hell they just survived narrowly a war for their species survival, will they even tolerate our existence in their present after dealing with the dragons, will we be seen as equals amongst them? There are alot of unknowns in this situation
>>
>>5909423
Stay safe and have a good night

Uh...I didn't think we were having a session today. If me saying that we can continue throughout the week confused you, I actually just meant that we could post at our leisure. "I mean... we are equals to them right? We're able to think and act like them. Only thing we can't do is those things with the nubs on their hands. You know..."
"Fingers you mean."
>Caramel said as she interrupted Adler.
"RIght.... fingers."
"I mean we could... it's just really hard. I mean Grandpa Swift and Mr Lanesboro walks on two legs and lift things up with his paws. So it could possibly work with you guys as well if you train hard enough... as for me. I've only learned to walk. I can't hold on to anything with these nubs though. They always slip out of my paws for some reason."
"Well you'll never catch this deer on two legs. Seems unnatural to me."
>>
>>5918067
Not what I mean by equals, I’m not talking about our physical capacity I’m talking about us having been originally unthinking animals, will they believe us beneath them as the majority of apes seem to or pigs for that matter? These are only musing on the possible bad outcomes about what I wish to do they don’t really matter until we meet that moment. Besides I don’t want animals to be forced to move like humans besides with the right improvisation and craftsmanship we could probably make stuff that allows deers to use human tools and weapons without opposable thumbs couple that with his magic and I bet he can use his magic to aim and fire a gun given enough training
>>
All of us have example’s of rotten apples amongst our people as mog and those dogs can attest, and while Maggie is a noble warrior I wouldn’t be surprised if they have bad apples amongst them, and if you find my metaphor hard to understand bad apples =bad apple I wouldn’t be surprised if we see them show up
>>
>>5918191
"Not what I've been taught by Granpa Swift."
>Caramel interjected.
"While you and Mister Lanesboro believe that there might be some bad apple Grandpa Swift said otherwise. He said they were good people they just need to listen to us."
>>
>>5918214
This is not something I doubt Infact I’m counting on this after all I wish to avoid as much death and suffering on iether sides but I’m not gonna be Foolish in assuming every human will be nice after all we as people regardless of intent or moral fiber have blood in our history aswell hey Maggie do you know of a time where humanity had done terrible things?, no judgment I’m just musing on how things will pan out for us in the future

Hell I can remember my grandfather mentioning there was a second Great War, but it was overlooked because two years later, the lizards showed up. Apart from the statue of the frozen king I remember finding a strange sign post of a altered bear this strange was like those half old one half animal depiction except instead of a head of a human it was the head of a bear it wore a hat and a pair if pants it held up a shovel in it’s hand and it pointed it’s half bear half old one hand at me like it was telling me some critical information with old one text under it the experience was quite surreal.
That’s probably a hero of old although it has the same boots Maggie wears hmm

Mog listened along to the talk of equality, human tragedy and broken memory, nodding along when Ursus spoke, but otherwise staying silent.

>>5920361
"Recently? Probably the hellbot the cats and I fought. The stuff in the bunker in general or in Swift's barn come to mind, Sean also had an interesting metal carriage. Before that...I'm not sure. There were too many strange things to count. Probably a book I found, depicting a wolf and what I thought was a mostly hairless ape at the time, in a red hooded cloak. Wasn't even the most special thing I've ever seen, but the image stuck with me 'til this day."

>>5920385
"I think we have stores selling what few restored Old One artifacts we managed to scavenge together up in the cities proper. Though only those deemed plentiful and unimportant enough to miss out on a nice stay in a museum. A pig in my old unit had a nearly complete set of that exact game, I think. His prized possession. Always hated that game, probably because I always lost, it's practically gambling."

>>5920515
"I think Kinny has some acid vials somewhere on him. If you asked him to lend you one later then I think you could remove that rust. You'd have to be careful though."
>>
>>5920558

"Makes sense. It is our only gun an-.... Mog that's not what I meant when I said I was rusty. I meant that it has been a long while since I did it."
>Caramel then pushed Maggie to the side.
"You met a pig with the full game?! Nice!! Was he a friendly pig or a 'oh you want food you gotta pay me like 500000 silver for it' mean piggy?"
>>
>>5920581
The wolf looked back and forth between the jostled human-rabbit and the other youngster, bemused. "Both, though not at the same time. I mean we had two separate pigs in the unit, though they never met. One, York, was a decent fellow, a naturalized citizen. He was the one with the game set, and he always won. A lucky guy, until he suddenly wasn't. A story for another time."

Mog paused, scratching his ears in agitation. Maybe he shouldn't overshare this next bit. 'Bah, no matter' he thought dismissively in the very next moment. They all knew each other decently well at this point.

"The second was a certain Mr.Herrschwein. I think it was a pun or something, he certainly found introducing himself amusing. Everyone hated him, though they at least came to share in the laughter at his name, I never got the joke though. He was a war profiteer, selling us food from pig lands and scavenged gear from the battlefield, even as we fought his own kind. He didn't care who he sold to, pig, wolf, ape, lizard, it didn't matter. All he cared about was money, and boy, did he charge a lot, but he knew we were desperate at the time. Got overconfident though, outstayed his welcome and got caught selling information to our enemies while he was still within our reach, we would've let him be otherwise, being a legitimate business pig, greedy and evil or not. Espionage isn't something we could tolerate though and we didn't need him anymore when the desperate phase had passed, so we caught up to him and ate him alive. I bet he regretted his greed in his final moments."

The old timer ended his war story and turned from his skyward gaze as his recollection ended, gauging his party's reactions. Monopoly would come soon enough, they were close. Maybe it'd jog some memories loose while they were at it. First came the war though, always the war on the horizon or stark present first. Never later.
>>

"Plenty" Mog answered flatly. Though the longest conversation he'd had with one in recent times had been the merchant back in Xana. If they weren't a citizen from the homeland or a rare Free City lizard resident then he rarely had much to say to lizards other than to offer up cold steel.

>>5920558
Not that he felt like sharing. He turned to Ursus to hear his answer.

Believe it or not I have made freinds with one although this one was but more how you say odd unlike the many other lizards that claimed that the olives where cheats and liers this one was rather pleasant company, he was a bar owner and bartender who would stick our town with good spirits, he was large for a lizard with a big spiky chin like mammals beard but as scaly as any lizard, he would comment and agree with us on the many goings on and gossip of the town what with the ape presence even filling in info he’d gathered from the ape patrons that showed up on leave and got to drunk to keep their mouths shut on what they where caniving about, he even looked the other way when we found old one stuff next door to his property, His name was Ike

"Ike sounds like a nice character."
>Caramel said as she felt more interested in Ursus description of a friendly lizard.
>Maggie went closer to Mog.
"Well this conversation turned out a bit better. Thought you were going to spout a rant or something like that... I mean I've only met one good lizard as well but he's probably dead along with the rest of the lab team."
>Caramel then back to all three of the group.
"But anyways enough about the Lizards and Pigs. We should be halfway there. Knowing how close we are to the great lands of Canis Lupin. Home to the current queen of the wolves. I can already tell things are gonna be gr-."
>Suddenly you see something in front of you.
>Crossing in front of you.
>It was a flock of sheep.
>All of them continuously crossing the road.
>Seemed like a whole damn villiage of sheep were leaving.
>>
>>5920653
They seem to be running from something we may need to be prepared to fight so let’s get out if they’re way and prepare for what’s chasing them.
>Ursus manuvers the cart to the side with mog to avoid running into a panicked crowd
>>
>>5920644
"A fine fellow then."

>>5920653
>>5920653
"Sorry to hear that. Were you close?" Mog asked, curious.

They were interrupted by a fleeing flock of fluffy sheep, putting his question to rest.

"Jenkins, Bobby, check what's going on with the sheep. See if they are running from anything, ask em what's happening!" he ordered, rushing to help Ursus with the cart on the bear's initiative.

>Help Ursus with the cart.
>>
>>5920653
>>5920656
>>5920667
>Jenkins soon got out of the wagon to find out what was going on.
>Bobby soon followed shortly after.
>Still a little hung over.
"Too early for this shit!!"
>The group then went to the flock of sheep.
>They stayed there and listen for a few seconds.
>After a while they came back.
"They aren't running away. They mentioned they were on their way to spread some sort of word."
>Jenkins explained.
"Something about the Moon Goddesses."
>>
>>5920692
That sounds like something mog would be interested In at least it doesn’t sound like someone is getting hurt or worse but hey doesn’t hurt to be careful
>>
>>5920692
>>5920700
"I am indeed interested in what they have to say, hope you don't mind taking over for a moment, Adler." Mog replied.

He let go the the protruding lever and began running up to the flock. For a moment he hesitated, breaking his stride. What if they were afraid of him? Then he remembered that he was back home, these sheep were used to wolves running the country. This wasn't the war-torn lands of the south, they need not fear predation here. Worries allayed, he ran up.

"Hail friends! What's the word?" he called out, hoping to catch a less hurried woollyback.
>>
>>5920700
>>5920734
"Hail Traveler!"
"HAIL TRAVELER!"
"hail traveler."
>All sheep cry in unison.
"We see you have an emblem of the Moon Goddesses. Were you sent by the priest to spread the word of our true creators. The Moon Goddesses."
>>
Rolled 15 + 8 (1d20 + 8)

>>5920755
"Moon...Goddesses?" Mog asked slowly. He knew of only one Moon, and her sister, the Earth. Had another divinity been born? He looked heavensward, hoping to catch a rare glimpse of the Goddess during the accursed daylight. Scanning the sky he found no such luck, hellish light was obscuring the newborn's divine form.

What did they mean by true creators? From what he remembered, Luna did not claim to be Creatrix, her sister held that distinction. The pale Goddess possessed all the unwanted and forbidden castaway memories of her green sister, and the souls of the dead besides. She guided them with her wisdom and wan nightlight, thus earning her the foremost reverence in the wolf kingdom.

Perhaps things had changed since he'd been away. When he had left, the process had already begun in becoming less theocratic, heresy laws had weakened even in his early days, as peace reigned for a time, by the time he departed on his last campaign they scarcely existed, to make room for the reintegration of the Mars priesthood and salve the worries of adherents of other faiths.

These sheep seemed unorthodox to Mog's ears. He told them as such, that and all the thoughts he'd just ran through, explaining his situation with having been away for so long, and that he wasn't sent by the priest, though he was a paladin.

>Explain my situation to the sheep regarding having been away for so long, my confusion regarding there being two moon goddesses at them, and say I'm not from whatever priest they were expecting. Try and be friendly.
>>
>>5920801
"What's this?"
"He doesn't know?!"
"I'm pretty sure he does. Let's listen to him."
>The sheep all listened to the wose old wolf.
>All of them questioning what he was saying.
"Not what the priest said."
"Both sisters created the world."
"The scrolls were recently translated by Father Gawain."
"Father Gawain knows what's true."
"That's why Father Gawain wants us to spread the word."
"Spread the word of the Moon Goddesses."
"Have to."
"But we definitely understood your confusion."
"Old wolf with old translation."
"Father Gawain will help you relearn the new words."
"Canis Lupin up ahead."
"Speak to him."
"He'll show you the way."
>But you know for a fact this is wrong.
>This was all wrong.
>The last time it was translated was when it was first introduced to Canis Lupin.
>There was no need for a new translation.
>>
>>5920809
On intuition he asked "Father Gawain didn't happen to come from the southern forest, perhaps accompanied by a bear, or an otter? Maybe even a hairless green-skinned ape with a stone in her chest?"
>>
>>5920817
>The sheep huddled amongst each other.
>Odd way to recollect something important but maybe it was best they had multiple animals each confirming what they saw.
>They then turned back to the party.
"We have saw no such them with Father Gawain."
"We usually see him just by himself."

>They all seem to be telling the truth.
>No liars among the group.
>Still rather off interpretation of the religion Mog is a part of.

Mog looked back at Ursus, looking for a sign from the bear. He wasn't sure if the bookish warrior was getting bored or tired. Ah, he was getting away from himself. If Ursus wanted to move on then he'd interject whenever he pleased.

Turning back around Mog said "I'd love to, but first, which way did you say Father Gawain was?"

...

Answer in paw, Mog settled in for a chat.

>Ask where's Father Gawain
>Chat, get caught up on the news in the kingdom, current events in the like. Share what it is like in ape lands, with tales of the occasional free city or enclave. Persuasion check +8, first roll
>Try and gently explain my orthodox views and learn more specifics about this heterodox splinter belief. Sow the seeds for them to question what they know, and learn about this strange scroll's teachings in return. Maybe it's true, maybe not, Mog will try and keep an open mind, as much as possible for a faithful paladin anyways. Religion check +0, second roll.
>Will use Lucky on any bad roll.

>The sheep respond with the first question with ease.
"The kingdom is in good condition."
"Better even."
"Apes have came along and given our city electricity."
"Got some old one tech working."
"Been talking to queen alot along with otter and bear."
"Don't forget pig."
"Yeah pig talking to queen as well."
"Pig also brought tons of weapons."
"Not as good as otter and bear's weapon though."
"No those ancient powerful weapons."
"Made Lizard angry."
"Lizard also taking to the queen."
>The multitude of voices were explaining all of this to all of you.
>It was a bit of mess but you got a good just of what's going on.
>Seems like Lanesboro was right about how everyone was wanting to gain a favor with the queen.
>Still if you present your case you could easily win favor.
>Mog then asked the question on religion.
>This then led to another multitude responding.
>But you were able to sum up how the new text was written.
>According to them, the twin sisters, representing the earth and moon, were both daughters of the sun.
>The two would always dance around their father along with other gods that were bigger or smaller compared to them.
>The Earth goddess had one job, to produce life that worshipped them.
>Meanwhile the Moon goddess' job was to help the life on Earth rest easy and to give them visions of what might be the future.
>But the moon realized soon that it's time being seen on the Earth was short and nobody ever really saw her beauty.
>So the moon goddess decided to overstay her night shift and caused the earth to go through several cold nights.
>It wasn't until the sun intervened and split the moon goddess from one goddess to two.
>Splitting her from a kinder lighter half and a bitter darker half.
>The moon goddesses were then given a new job.
>Instead of giving everyone visions of the future, the moon goddesses were now to give the spirits of the dead a new home.
>If you were a good person you would be embraced by the light side of the Moon goddess.
>If you were evil however, you would be banned to the dark side of the moon, banished from ever seeing the light again.
>Although there was a prophecy that the whole version of the moon goddess would be renorn into our world with the power to see the future.
>That she would be reincarnated as a rabbit and be able to see the future of what was to come.
>From the sound of what the sheep were explaining....
>This felt more like a total rewrite towards your religion than a simple retranslation.
"Father Gawain is in the church near the castle if you ever want to talk to him."
>One sheep explained.
What do you guys do now...

Well I believe there is some sort of religious schism in terms of yours and mogo’s religion see your interpretation and or belief possibly splintered off mogs, this does not mean iether of religions are greater or lesser than each other they are just different interpretations entirely and mog is currently processing all of this having been out and about for a while.
>ursus postulates
Neither interpretation of religions belief is wrong it’s just a massive departure from mogs faith that it’s rather infuriating, as an example imagine if there was a sudden re interpretation of the frozen king i would personally have a massive cultural shock from meeting a reinterpretation of it. I feel like we are likely going to meet the founders of this splinter in faith and likely possibly debate the ramifications of it

"Yes...yes, something is very wrong." Mog muttered.

He attempted total stillness, tamping down rising anger, sheathing dewclaws under dirt, silencing rage boiling from his throat, slowing his throbbing heart, and closing his ravening jaws. Not moving for several awkward moments while Ursus spoke for the both of them. Calm didn't come, but rage didn't follow. It would have to suffice.

There was so much wrong with what was just spoken, it beggared belief.

The paladin swallowed hard. He was home now, acting like a maniac was not appropriate. Whether this strange new scroll wielding priest was a subversive act by one of the factions or a genuine split in the faith remained to be seen. He couldn't go around thrashing heretics like some autocratic high judge of Mars. Investigation was needed.

Speaking up more clearly now, Mog answered the sheep "It seems Father Gawain and I have much to discuss. To say this is a heterodox belief would be an extreme understatement. I thank you for your time. One last thing before we part, which city do you hail from? The one the apes upgraded with electricity, I mean?"

When the sheep had answered, Mog turned to Ursus "Where to now? I'd like to follow up with Father Gawain, but we have a lot to do. The queen awaits, as does the bounty on the bandits, and our intrigues with the factions and all our ideas of influence bargaining."

He'd not act without the consensus of his party, even if he felt the dire urge to see this matter with the wayward priest through.

Sorry for the big wait. I was kinda suffering from writer's block. Was initially gonna be a bigger post, but I think I'll save that for when we actually meet Father Gawain. Despite how Mog feels in character, I actually don't feel like meeting the priest today because I don't feel up to the task of RPing out that moment right now. It's not something so urgent that we need to handle it right away in-universe after all, IC motives aside. Not in the greatest shape mentally or the best of moods. Plus, I don't think I'll have enough time today, I may need several breaks to handle some stuff IRL.

I'm actually waiting on Ursus to agree to take the detour to Father Gawain here >>5926962
>>
>>5931150
I think we should uncover what’s going first before we continue on I’d rather not deal with a possible religious conflict stabbing us in the back
>>
>>5931150
Although this may not actually be necessary, for a moment I was confused and thought Father Gawain was in some other church by a local castle rather the one in the capital, one that would require we take a detour from the big city. Still, was just waiting on Ursus to reply last time.

>>5931137
>>5931143
"Fine, fine. My homecoming is just...different than I imagined it would be." Mog replied after a long, awkward silence.

His mind was still far away, uncharacteristically unfocused, avoidant of this new struggle. It seemed an awful lot to have to root out the causes of this new belief when all he wanted to do was rest his old bones after years upon years of war and adventure. Trekking the land through long sheltered paths, away from roads and ape patrols took its toll.

"We ready to continue on? I'm half of mind to go yell at those sheep that all they know is wrong. They're sheep after all, if someone tells them otherwise about something they just learned, then they'll adopt the new information as truth just like that. All it takes is a little push. Only reason I don't is that there aren't THAT many other sheep for them to convince, mostly bears and wolves in these parts, though we all have to eat someone. Still, I know we're all eager to rest in the city and get working on our goals, so if you guys say go, then we'll move on."
>>
>>5931150
>>5931159
"Are we sure this... 'bring Mog in' business from earlier won't be a problem? Maybe it'd be best to handle that matter before we start haras- ...uhm, talking to the local charlatan." The voice appeared behind the two before the cat did. It seemed that Kinny got bored from counting the coin with the cats and decided to join the head of the "caravan".

I don't actually mind pursuing priest first, it sounds actually interesting, but the fact that Mog might or might not be wanted could lead to shittery.
>>
>>5931159
"My thoughts yours. Only issue is that I think the sheep freely gave all they knew. It sounds like Gawain resides in the church adjoining the castle in the capital. That bears ill for society given his proximity and influence on the Queen and society's most prominent citizens. The only station that would be worse is if he resided in Laurentide as a priest in some kind of leadership capacity."
>>
>>5931167
I am still worried about the ape bit it might be a state backed reinterpretation so tread carefully and carry your weapons tighter
>>
>>5931169
Glad to see you join us Kinny.

"It's not clear to me whether I was wanted for some alleged crimes or if I was wanted in the capital to be hailed as a hero. We'll just have to go and see. Either way, it sounds like this all requires heading to the capital. From there, there will be a lot to do, our whole 'influence operation' thing, talking to the queen, Gawain, spying on the other Factions, and then there's that whole bounty on the bandits thing that I think was further west."
>>
>>5931171
"Oh, I have no doubt that state actors are behind a lot of skulduggery, possibly this included. Though I think the sheep only mentioned a rabbit in the story of the 'new scrolls', no apes. If you mean the apes influencing the Queen by giving us electricity, well, honestly this style of cloak and dagger bullshit sounds more like the pigs to me, but I guess Kinny would know better than I. Just keep in mind this sort of intelligence operation is more the pigs style, they're surprisingly dexterous for their girth, and we all know how smart they are."
>>
>>5931170
Should read "My thoughts echo yours"
>>
>>5931172
"Sounds like a plan, but maybe we could fashion you some sort of a... mask? So you're not so easily recognized until we get to the capital, in case some freak decides to test his luck at getting that reward?" The cat suggested caution, because most of the group were stepping into the unknown and even Mog seemed to have been far away from home to not be aware of recent developments.
>>
>>5931175
I mean there was that pigkin farmer Wilber who brewed some great oat beer he could carry a couple barrels while maneuvering a crowded ally and when you got him talking he would rattle off all kinds of trivia and information about beer yeast brewing and mash, he was by far the nicest pigkin I had the opportunity to meet along with his family although that’s probably because he and his family was the only group of pigs in town who wasn’t caught breaking in to peoples food stores or attempting organized crime
>>
>>5931184
Yeah speaking of
Ursus dons the hood on his patchwork jacket
>>
>>5931184
"Maybe I could use one of the rings, take the form of a different wolf? A mask is a bit suspicious, makes the lawkeepers curious, I don't wanna look like some kinda discount raccoon." Mog suggested.

>>5931188
"Yeah, like that. Rare to find a good pig, but when you do they're reliable and smart as can be. Gotta get 'em communicating with other folk when their still piglins though, adults seem to find it hard to leave their thieving ways, though they're all the more wilful and deserving of a good life for their efforts, more than most of us. First generation that settles away from their kin seems to struggle a lot internally, second and so on are like any other folk in any good place, just smarter."
>>
>As you all continue to talk you all then finally stop at a gate.
>A gate Mog knows well.
>The entrance to Canis Lupin herself.
>Half a day's travel must have passed earlier than ecpected.
>As you draw closer, you see the guard of the gate.
>Mog remembers it being guarded by a huge hound back in the day.
>Now though....
"Woah woah woah man! You can't just enter. You need clearance first man! Now are you a Royal, noble, Rich, Salesmen, or some sort of peasant?"
>It seems like a joke now.
>Then again he is near some sort of red button.
>Judging by the symbols on it, it has the power to open and close doors.
Persuade the... rat thing to open the door for you?
>>
>>5931184
>>5931198
"Though, maybe it is better to see if we bump into a larger patrol and just get this business out of the way? That way they won't be intimidated by me and Ursus or run off because they are outnumbered like those dogs. Then we can confirm if I'm wanted or not before we get into the city proper, where it'll be hard to escape once we are in the heart of it all." Mog added.

>>5931192
>>5931137
"Right then, we ready to move on?"
>>
>>5931192
Kinny promptly pulls his jumpsuit hood over his head.
>>5931198
"As you wish, but you're too big to be confused for a raccoon, if you ask me." Hoodinny shrugged. I have no idea who has a charged ring at this point.
>>5931201
"When you are."
>>
>>5931199
Mog's eyes bulged. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. "Where's Horace?! Where'd the big guy go? You can't be serious. This must be a mistake. Wait, are you like Poco, tiny but strong, is that it?!"

He ran in a circle. Thinking 'what is going on?', he felt woozy, like the foundations of the world were unsteady. All the people he knew were gone. What was happening?

Snapping back to reality, he froze. He was in the presence of a lawdog...or rat...thing. Acting insane was not the right way to go about things. Taking out his badge and the letter the guard dogs had handed him, he showed both to the small thing, keeping a grip on the both of them so they wouldn't be snatched away.

"Mog and his companions, here for the summit. The Queen summoned me, though I also have business with Father Gawain, the senate and assembly, and with the sheriff out west regarding some bandits attacking the rabbit tribes and pretending to be members of our military."

"As for what happened to Horace. I thought more outside people would have known. Horace died about like two years ago. It was a heartattack. Still even after his death he kept doing his job of not allowing anyone in for a bit by blocking the entrance until the other hounds found out. Haven't had a guard like him since. Now we are trying out this door thing that the apes gave us. They put me in charge of this shit man. Not really the best job but someone has to press the buttons. One to allow them in and one for border control and trust me it's a hassle."
>The rat thing looks at your letter.
"Wait Mog? As in the fugitive?"
>The rat thing looks at you....
"Nah man you ain't Mog! Too old! Mog is supposed to be built like chiseled god man. You look like something that died and the buzzards ate for a bit and then spat out because you taste terrible. Your bear friend has a better chance of showing me he's Mog more than you man."

"Ouf." Kinny grimaced at the rat's comment about Mog's appearance. A shrug was Mog's only initial response, then "What can I say, folks are just prejudiced against 'em, they have a reputation for thievery, or stupidity of a certain kind, as the forest cultists showed."

>>5931216
"Chad, is that the new gatekeeper? Is it your name? I've heard all the youngsters say this like it's funny, but I don't get it." Mog ranted.

His heart sank when Horace's fate cursed his ears. Worse still, they were replacing good old fashioned wolf-power with ape machinery! Metal tools were not a replacement for flesh and blood, raw numbers and skill at arms kept the factions at bay, not button pushers and traps.

He interrupted to say as much "Doors? Buttons? What, like a trap door? Don't be foolish, technology, especially technology supplied by our principle adversary the apes cannot replace a rightful doctrine of numerous bodies and overwhelming skill. It is a supplement at best, there should be at least a dozen guards at this gate. Who will stem the tide of a surprise attack should you be killed from afar in a night attack, their numbers rushing through while you die silently? Will your electronic doors avail you when the apes or the pigs have a countermeasure to their own technology? Will some trap stop a DRAGON?! Think, Chad, think!"

The fugitive wolf went silent as soon as talk about him actually being 'capital W' wanted started filling the air. Really he was in disbelief. Why the fuck was he wanted?! The insult to injury didn't help, Ursus was the skinniest bear he knew, all his muscle was in his bear and heart for crying out loud!

Slowly Mog worked his tongue into forging a lie "Haha, you're joking right? I hadn't heard. Tell me about why Mog is wanted, will ya? I'm actually Moggle, his distant cousin seven times removed, Mog for short. I oughtta help a fellow out, clear his name in court, y'know?"

Years. I think I established that Mog had been wandering for years behind enemy lines playing guerilla before realising the war was over. Then formed a party with you and some others and just kept it up out of habit, in between adventures for profit.

Thanks for the offer, feel free to step in if my rolls fail. Or at anytime where it seems like we might get in trouble in the city.

Maybe back when the door was made of wood but definitely not when it's made of strong metal like that. Sure we have nothing to protect us from an air raid but the apes promised they were working on that... so please stop verbally abusing Mr..."
>Mog then gave him a fake name.
"Moggle. Right... so I can assume thanks to your wagon you are merchants right? Where is your merchant's license? As you are searching for that I can explain. Mog is currently under charges of leading an unprovoked charge in the name of the Moon Goddess during the war years ago according to Father Gawain. So he's being charged with blasphemy."

Oh, right, the license. Fuck. He looked to Kinny as if to say 'Uh...help?!', hopefully the cat could take over.

Turning around to Chief Cottontail he urged the rabbit forward. Whispering, he asked "So, uh...you have a merchant license, right? 'Cause we kinda need it now."

"First your lawmakers decide to change the trade laws five times a month, demand us to send them documents before our arrival so they can 'confiiirm' things, and now we're supposed to give YOU the licenses that went through a week ago?! Personally I think it is better to be proactive and just say "I am doing this thing, here's my roll for it."

It's faster, and QMs usually love it when they don't need to prompt you to using an applicable skill. If there isn't a perfect ability or skill to fit what you are trying to do then something can always be worked out based on your attributes/skills/abilities to figure out an appropriate bonus.

As for the documents, I have no idea. We'll see. Hence why I said to keep it in the back of your mind rather than discarding the idea altogether. We have to get through somehow and this gate guard is taking longer to get by than I thought.

"All of this sounds far too recent to be anything but faction related business. If only we'd arrived faster, our detour in the forest seems to have allowed even you, Poco, to beat us here despite us leaving before you presumably packed up shop." Mog unconsciously paused to cough prematurely in expectation of a dusty attic, only to be surprised at its pristine condition.

He sat down, then continued speculating "In particular, this priest, Gawain is extremely suspicious. You say he speaks in whispers? It makes me wonder if he is a warlock. Though perhaps he is just a genuinely well meaning heretic, or someone ignorantly acting as an agent for the spies of the delegations."
>>
>>5932930
"Wait you said whispers?"

>>5932933
"Poco said whispers, I don't know if there is anything to it." Mog replied, tilting his head at the mention of an oracle.

Following Poco's gaze, Mog turned to the rabbits. He snorted, drawing his paw over each one in turn "This is Chief Cottontail, Caramel, and Maggie. As for why Maggie smells weird, she hasn't had her milk today, so she's having trouble going, if you catch my drift."

"Can you answer Cottontail's question, I'm curious as well."
>>

"Drink it baby bunny."
"DO YOU EXPECT ME TO FUCKING CHUG THIS?!"

"He has mentioned something about that yes."
>Chief Cottontail then began to ponder.
"Was he with another wolf who was scarred?"
"No, preist puppy has been with no such person as far as I have seen."
"Still it is suspicious. He sounds like he was one of the wolves who ambushed us and said they were with the kingdom."
>>
>>5932943
"Ah, the brown one? Yeah, I speculated he was warlock back then too. Interesting if there is a connection there. Strange to think this supposed bandit group may have their paws so deep into the heart of our society."
>>
Just waiting for Ursus to chime in.
>>
>>5932911
I think it’s to both control the public belief and implement change in parliament while slowly cutting loose ends by supposed heart “attacks” I would not be surprised if after a whole someone else is going to receive a “heart attack” and the reason why they are instead of bringing mog in closer to assassinate him is because they can’t without the public immediately seeing what’s happening and also the fact that mog would probably take a whole lot of them and alot of resources to take down. Hence why they paint him as a blasphemer In order to defame him and make his death more publicly and politically acceptable, I suspect we keep at the cousin of mog story or at least something father away from it before they catch on to the fact that mog is in the city
>>
>>5932998
Once is coincidence twice is suspicious three times is enemy action
>Ursus raises his paws and counts them out to emphasize the point.
My recommendation is to assassinate the assassins ie establish hidden gaurds to make sure those publicly opposed to what’s happening doesn’t immediately further their goals outside the eye of the public, I recommend serious espionage into the church and the people funding them make sure no stone doesn’t get overturned less then three times
And as much as spy’s might hate it I suspect the assassins paid to do their part will eventually get their own loose ends cut mortally

That is not an otter I would recommend following that instinct because we stumble upon their handiwork when we where fighting the cult she formed, apes combined with trees fully aware and inconstant pain and agony as they moved sap leaking from them pooled with blood. She is a dangerous being literally masquerading as an otter she is not to be trusted

"So you think they're after me specifically?" Mog asked, alarmed.

He mimed wiping a wet nose, his equivalent to Maggie of wiping sweat from one's brow. Murdering the humour in reflexive gestures before it could turn into a whole comedy act, he added "I was actually thinking of playing this straight and solving this in court, that way we could act openly, especially if we won the case. It'd bring the issue of the suddenness of Father Gawain's actions and the suspicious deaths to light. Skulking about brings legal consequences in the aftermath even if we are in the right, which could hamper our ability to affect a political outcome. Though, regardless of whether we act openly or not, I think we should investigate Father Gawain and the diplomatic delegations. Part of the planning I hadn't got to yet was a continuation of the specifics of our previous discussions of influencing the assembly and senate, and spreading our money around hiring informants, propagandists and fighters. My persecution only adds the need for additional boltholes and safe houses to that list."

Looking at Ursus, he nodded to Kinny. This was his element, they needed more bases than this attic, and a lot of this cloak and dagger stuff suited the cats more than a pair of big noisy warriors in full plate armour.
>>
>>5933041
>>5932998
"Oh, and by 'in court' I mean in the judicial system rather than the royal court. Though appealing directly to the Queen could do some good as well, depending on how we do it."
>>
>>5933029
This is a boiling pot of our greatest opposition going forward I would recommend gaining as much information before we mobilize and at the same time create disruption in the community to get the competition to squabble as long as they can in the interim keep as many eyes on that otter, if she enters a room and a different kin walk out follow them because chances are she’s taken a new form
If we can implement >>5933041 this plan along side gathering information to be able to fade then we should do both, we should also gain trusted freinds in on this case that are still alive depending on the situation we could have a stronger case, I will stick with mog when he stands in court I doubt any of the apes will recognize me as the one who killed Kar I did immediately bug out after taking his equipment and told the local town forget to deny any involvement with what happened and blame it all on a lone bear

Poco seemed like a good fellow, but he didn't know him, not really. With this game of cat and mouse, spies fluttering about like leaves on the wind, you didn't know who you could trust. It was odd that Poco beat them here, and this could all be a setup to reveal Maggie.

>Bobby asks.
>Maggie then raised her paw.
"Y- you're not going to have me bathe in that right? You know since I touched the guns the most."
>>
>>5933105
>>5933109
"Though, if you are worried about our appearance in court, I think we could avoid that issue by simply not taking our 'gun' with us. We could leave it with little ol'Maggie or one of the cats. As the charge is blasphemy during the war, character witnesses from our party will be of little use. Only folks who knew me during the war will need to attend. I suspect that if the legal process is legitimate and untampered with then the issue will revolve around if what I supposedly did actually constitutes blasphemy, whether blasphemy is even a secular issue, maybe a debate around the constitution or whether we are governed by church laws at all. Though that could be my bias showing through, perhaps these issues are just my interest, the average citizen may see Father Gawain's claims as common sense, and a theocratic state as natural. I don't know, I've been away too long to know what is considered normal here anymore."
>>
>>5933113
>>5933105
Mog looked at Maggie, then back at Ursus, then back at Maggie, then back at Ursus. If he had eyebrows to quirk, they'd be raised high. Instead he opted to tilt his head quizzically "Well Ursus? Are we going to bathe her in vinegar? Obviously we cannot wash the 'bullet' in vinegar, it might render them useless."

He coughed into his paw awkwardly. Better Maggie suffer a bath so that they could drop this alibi from being brought up in front of Poco too often. Her smell being dealt with was honestly a very real issue that Mog would be glad to be rid of. Running into the Flametongue himself was not something the old wolf intended to do very often.

"Well, that settles that. Lets drag a tub up here and wait for Bobby to buy vinegar and get this over with." Mog nodded as he said this.

Walking over to the circular window, he peered out onto the street to see if the way was clear.

"We shouldn't stay here long, Lincoln is suspicious and knows this place now. We ought to move to a new safehouse. Poco, can you provide another place with all the basic amenities we'd need, someplace with more than one exit? We can pay, of course."

>Perception check to make sure the outside is clear and that Lincoln isn't rushing back with an army in tow to burn this place to the ground.
>Ask Poco for a new safehouse, we'll move after Maggie has her bath

>You look outside yet you see no one.
>Either Lincoln is fast at slithering his way out of here...
>Or he is still here.
>Still better safe than sorry to doublecheck.

>He nods his head.
"Not much Poco can recommend. But Poco knows of abandoned church. Baby puppy queen told apes or lizards not to go anywhere near. Because it was home to first priestess to arrive with moon religion. No one is allowed in... but that doesn't stop thieves from living in there."

>>
>>5937597
>Jenkins was the first to speakup.
"Listen, you should probably strategize on what you guys are gonna do once you get to the next hideout. Meanwhile, with me, this is where we go seperate ways. I don't know what I am going to do with my life now. But it sure as hell isn't going to be doing any more with this war. I do however wish you all the best of luck."
>Everyone was silent for a bit...
>That was until Caramel pulled out a strange deck of cards.
"I got cards!"
>>
>>5937601
Well that is honestly reasonable as sad as I am to see some one leave this is a massive undertaking and if you have to leave I’m not going to stop you, and as for strategy I’m still waiting for mog to determine his exact plan so I can augment my strategy forward
As for card games it will help ease the tension in the room to allow for a more tactical and cool head to prevail

>Where are the diamonds?
>Where are those weird black spear heads that no animal knows the name of?
>Instead you see in these cards strange illustrations of creatures that don't even look real even by fantasy standards.

"I do in fact have a set of dice, we could-"

>>5937601
"-ah, take care Jenkins. Stay safe out there."

He worked on fetching the dice from his pack. "Hmrph...ah, there we are! Now we can manage games that need both things. Always keep something on hand for those quiet moments."

>>5937617
"I'm think it better wait until we move locations, at the very least the exact strategy won't fully take shape until we've done some more information gathering and scouting in the city." Mog said in response to the bear.

>>5937621
"You're kidding. Lemme take a look"

>Mog is just as confused with these cards just as much as the next animal.
>Though he does gain a bit of an understanding to some mechanics of this game.
>Judging by the numbers (thank the Moon, humans and animals have the same numbering system and writing), Mog can see that this card can do some sort of attack.
>Not sure what kind of attack but some sort.
>So maybe it was some sort of offense and defense game that you could play with these cards...
>But even then it's still confusing.
>Why do some creatures only have 20 life while other creatures have up to the thousands?
>Is there no balance in this game?
>Is it just a broken mess?
>This is nothing like dice.
>At least with dice you can understand the rules quickly.
>Not this overly complicated mess.
>>
>>5937693
>>5937666
"Perhaps we better stick to dice. This looks too complicated. Are you sure these are sorted? Some of these have different backings."

Just for my information, has Jenkins left yet? Or was he just signalling his intent to leave soon, when we leave the attic?

"Maybe they're just later editions."
>Caramel said as she tried to organize them.
"But you have to admit some of these monsters look cool. I mean look at this one! And this one! Oh! This one is my favorite! Look at how sleek and slender she looks! Can your dice look like this?"
>The party of course is unamused as they see the card that just looks like a plain fox with nine tails.
>>>5937707
Be Safe Ursus
"I'm up for that as well."
>>
>>5937714
"Lets get started then," a thought occurred to Mog, "hey, Jenkins. This nine tailed fox mean anything to you?"

Honestly it is probably better to move forward rather than keep delaying for players. Even if we move locations, we'll still be in a lull since we weren't done talking. Obviously I'm not suggesting we start combat or any major events without everyone here, but we probably shouldn't be stuck roleplaying through stuff that could be rightly skipped over, though I understand you guys were just waiting for me and Kinny. Still, this is the sort of stuff that could've been skipped over. Kinny has his own stuff to sort out, and when he does peek into the thread, I doubt he'll be encouraged to post if he sees we are just doing nothing but chatting about irrelevant stuff.
>>
>>5937738
"No.... no it doesn't."
>Jenkins says with a cringing sigh.
>The group plays a bit of dice for a bit until Poco returns.
"Poco knows it's safe now. Follow Poco."
>The group then follow Poco.
>As you are heading off to the abandoned church, Jenkins begins to trail off.
>He gives out a salute to the gang.
>A sign of wishing them luck.
>You all then enter the church.
>You remember that it was supposed to be empty.
>But you are greeted by an old wolf.
"Welcome fellow travelers. I see you all seek sanctuary."
>The old wolf says with a warm welcoming smile.
"Judging by your smell, something tells me that Mister Swift sent you. Hold on, I believe that you may be holding something. Do any of you happen to have a white card with you?"

>Mog hands over one of the white keycards
>Mog performs an INT check to see if he remembers the name of who Swift said would be a friend in Canis Lupin.
>>
>>5937757
"I see Swift already informed you of me. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Arsene."
>You definitely remember him now.
"I bet you were expecting someone younger. Well younger me might come eventually but right now you have to deal with older me."
>He said as he looked at the card.
"Hmm.... very good. You've been taking good care of it. Now we can look onto the old ones later. Right now, we need to focus on another thing. Room arrangements. You guys are asking for sanctuary and I am providing it. Now then I assume the cats want a room where there are a bunch of things to climb up and the bunnies want a quiet space. Old Swift really liked it when it was quiet when he was here. And um... I assume you and the bear will be sleeping together in the same room?"
>>
>>5937774
>>5937707
"Honestly, your age about checks out, I was expecting someone of Swift's stature, so to speak." Mog replied easily.

Yes, Arsene, he remembered now. Swift's informant. The issue of room arrangements brought Mog out of his recollections.

"Uh...we're not like that, if that's what you mean, but I'm fine with it if there's no issue with Ursus." he responded more awkwardly this time, having been caught off guard with the implications he glanced over at his companion.

Sorry for the late reply, was checking something in the archives. Had to move a bunch of stuff around, no notes easily accessible to me on hand aside from my character sheet.
>>
>>5937798
"I wasn't meaning anything like that at all. Was meaning that you both like cave like areas. Dark and a bit damp. What else could that possibly mean?"
>>
>>5937804
"N-nevermind," Mog coughed performatively, "I don't suppose you have a common room or some sort of side chamber away from any of the other occupants of this holy place, do you? Somewhere my friends and I can chat privately? It's no such issue if there isn't, we can just use one of the rooms."
>>
>>5937816
"That would be the basement."
>Arsene said bluntly.
"Just be sure not to damage anything."
>>
>>5937819
"Why would we damage anything? Well, nevermind, we'll try our best not to. Lead the way."
>>
>>5937820
>As Arsene led the way downstairs, Mog could immediately tell two things.
>1. This was not the only basement.
>Mog could immediately see that there were more stairs.
>And at the bottom of those stairs was another door.
>A door that looked almost like the door to the barn.
>2. There was a bit of this familiar chill in the air.
>It wasn't a really bad chill.
>More like a walking into the freezer kind of chill.
>Still it was a bit cold down here.
"That's from the other room. You know lizards are cold blooded. Even if they tried to come over here, they would all just fall asleep around thos point. But thankfully this building is considered sacred."

"Swift did mention that you'd know about the pods, but I never guessed you have your own facility here. Do you plan to release the occupants?" Mog asked, putting aside his thoughts on the rapture of being able to worship in the first temple.

The wolf looked at his fellow elder, gauging his intent.

>Insight check. What impressions does Mog get about what Arsene intends with the card beyond what he's said? Is he trustworthy, or leading us into a trap in the basement?

"Well you see I don't control when the humans wake up. They kind of just wake up. Other than that. Swift never really gave me any contingency plans on what to do when they wake up. I always just assumed it was inform them about what is going on... and then just let them go do whatever they want."
>You can tell he is being very honest about his explanation.
>>
>>5937860
"I see. Well, with Lincoln and Clayton walking around our city, we certainly cannot let any awoken old ones lumber around doing whatever they please without guidance. We've already had a close call with Lincoln already." Mog resumed walking after his pause to assess Arsene.

"Lead on."
