A world where might makes right. A world of Jade and Gold, of Phoenix and Dragons, of Pills and Talismans, of Martial and Spiritual arts.
A world where diligent training yield strength, meaning freedom. A world where loneliness means death, meaning social chains.
A world still unfair, as the ones reaching the heavens are most likely born rich - be it political riches of the aristocrats, power of secret knowledges and hidden realms of clans, or lucky enough to be born one-in-a-thousand genius.
This is not your case. This is the case of your friends Dhundan Kepa, the brooding dark intimidating and secretive young boy and Ai, which is stuck too deep in her inner world.
However, you might be one-in-a-hundred genius. The fear of falling behind made you push your boundaries times and times again, leading you to keep up with the two geniuses by a combination of luck, hard work, and burn out.
You also motivated the other "gifted but not great" kids to follow along.
In the end, you know a fair amount of technic for such a young cultivator, but your strength lies in the impressive amount of Bonded Spiritual Beasts - A Hawk spirit, a Horse spirit, a Snake spirit and a Wolf spirit.
Speaking of that last one, you didn't told a world about him to anybody. As a scion of the Primordial Wolf spirit, its father warned you of its worth and how people could want to rip it away from you...

Right now, you're in the middle of a tournament organized by your sect for various branches. This is a free-for-all teamfight involving five-cultivators team where touching is taking out, and getting the captain means taking the whole team out.
By waiting and acting smartly, you helped the Western branch disciples and took out together the Northern Branch, and pinned the Skyslandia cultivators with the help of the Southern Branch disciples - while getting harassed by the Wilds cultivators on the way

>Rally the Southern and Wilds cultivators against the Imperials.
"Why are we fighting? Look at the Imperials. They have the advantage of wealth. We'll need the advantage of cooperation to defeat them.
- You're clueless, aren't you? It is known the imperials are the weakest branch - better sect poach good disciples first.
We of the wilds, however, are truly one with our bonded spirits!
"

You're getting laugh at, as being really tone-death. You don't like it much.
"Change of plans. Southern cultivators, let's ally against those Wilds scavengers. Strongest? Don't get me laugh; they're only good at backstabbing.
- Deal."

You charge before they get away - the Southern's cultivator Desert Snake spirit coils, Sin Din charges with her Horse spirit. Two of them are engaged; one is slipping away.
You curse as your group lacks any kind of ranged weapon. On hindsight though you don't have to manage that unbearable arsehole of Ster Ling.

You rush toward the closer Wilds cultivator, which step forward. A second do the same, while the last one run away.
"Protect the Leader!"
With the dark stare both said Leader and the other cultivator send her, this blunder is not a bait.
You run, and stop dead in your track. As she a secret trick in her sleeve?
While both of you are held by choice paralysis, the Southern cultivator near you strikes. The Wild cultivator summon a bounded spirit to protect herself, but you jump on the opportunity to bash her head.
Your form is poor. Your move is weak. But her whole focus is taken by the soul-summoning. One down.
You hear laughter in the crowd. You hope they were laughing at her and not at you. As the winner, you were right to chose that slow vertical staff attack anyway.
Two - a similar scene happened to your right, but laughter-free.
Yeah, they didn't stand a sliver of a chance.

The Wild cultivator captain is fleeing. You...

You're not worried about the Wild captain. You leave him be for now.
"Push onward! Sorry Southern, this win will be ours.
- Fair."
The Snake-bound cultivator nodded. A much honorable foe for today. Maybe a worthy comrade in arms for the future?
All of you rush forward.
>Your 87 (before unmount malus) + Dhundan 96 (before shitton of revealed trump bonus) + Sin Din 56 (after Spirit + mounted bonus)
Three strikes. Three foes down. They raise in the now-familiar bubbles. You have the feeling the snake-guy was the captain, but it's just a hunch.
That was a good chance to see Dhundan's saber in action. It seemed it dragged the gerbil spirit toward it, opening the flabbergasted cultivator to a nasty chest kick.

With a curved trajectory, you attempt to pin the two Wilds skirmisher against the melee.
You time your approach carefully.
"Wait..."
An imperial girl, wielding a Meteor Hammer, attack the closest wild cultivator, helpless with his whip.
Before the hit register, his bounded Copper-Pawed Bear appears, blocking the steel weight with its palm.
"Now!"
You strike as a group. your target locked in your sight.
His whip crack. You avoid at the last second by Jumping, pushed upward by the Silver Warrior Horse spirit.
The Bear turns around, and tries to pummel you. You throw your halberd at the ennemi, forcing its spirit to deflect the blow, then summon the Cosmic Spear Snake spirit at the last second and push the shaft - the tail? No time to ponder metaphysical questions! - to hold the bear's arm at bay.
A part of you is awestruck. You feel the weight of the strike - the bear spirit, being bonded to a mere child that opened his Heart Aperture, is of course not as strong as a real ordinary bear. Still, it can muster between one third and half the strength of the real deal.
The fact you didn't instantally collapsed under the attack is a testimony of your body cultivation paying of.
The split-second saved by your bending snake is enough. Whip cracked, bear on top of you, the Wild cultivator have no mean to protect against the Hawk spirit catapulted to his face.
"Unfair! Your sect gifted you 3 spirits? How rich is the Eastern Branch exactly?"
You don't dignify the bubbled cultivator a reply. On your right, Yi was taken down by the other Wild cultivator, escaping the pinning motion.
On the other side, however, the Western sabreur stroke true : his opponent, the Ox-spirited Imperial cultivator, have his bounded beast dissipating while a bubble takes him and his 3 teammates away.

"Seaslandia, Western. Parley. The Wilds are harassing us, for a cheap win. Let's deal with them first, and fight squarely for the win.
- Works for us
- I want guarantee. Won't you pile up on us upon winning? I want your word you will let the one taking out the Wilds captain in finale, and duel for fighting them.
- You have my word.
- And mine."

You and Sin Din charge south, toward the lone Wilds captain.
Dhundan rushes behind you and the other Wilds cultivator, to avoid a backstab, while the Turtle cultivator and the Shark cultivator charge on the east.
>13
An arrow buzzes while it crosses you, wildly of mark.
>Sin Din : Enough to cross threshold
Your fellow horserider overtake you, thanks to the Unstoppable Mist Stallion she's riding. A cleave, enough to not-behead and take out the Wilds cultivator.
He leaps away, replaced by his Bounded spirit - an anthropomorphic Wolf, wielding a bow.
"Come forth, Spiritual Guardian Wolf Archer!"
>You : Enought to obliterate threshold with various bonuses, despite not proficient in spear wielding
You wind up your arm. You thrust your Cosmic Spear Snake spirit through the Guardian wolf, which dispel, barely slowing your strike.
Your hit reaches the sternum of your target, sending him flying in a bubble with the last Wild cultivator.

You and Sin Din relax. Three teams remain. Two will fight themself out for you.
That's the exact instant the Shark cultivator and the Sea Turtle cultivator rushes Dhundan. Traitors.
"For me, Westbros! Betrayal! For the honour of our word, as our word is our bond!"
Dhundan is holding out nice enough. Western cultivators instantly sides with you and rush onward - unless they're trying to take out Dhundan too?
Well, you're pretty sure everybody must think you're the Western Captain at this point.
Dhundan is luckily holding out so far. However, you don't have a choice : you have to protect him.

You charge the one with the sea turtle spirit. Flaming Hawk circling on the left, snake spear curving on his right, he have to make a useless choice as he's done for it.
His choice was to duck and cover his head, letting you hit with both the Snake and the Hawk spirit.

And then, the Western cultivator charge reach the melee.

The Obsidian Shark Spirit tail-sweep, taking down the western defensive fighter.
>Axeman : 65 + 9 : 74!
The Seaslandia cultivator couldn't protect from the onslaught forever. The western fighter strikes. The traitor captain fells.
He's copiously insulting you, comparing the Western and Eastern cultivator as weak twigs bundled together in a small amount of firewood.

"Dhundan, on the Axeman. I'll take the archer. I think he's their captain."
The four of you bow, then charge.
Your Horse takes a crescent-shaped trajectory, leap over an arrow. You strike, and see the bubble taking him.
A smug smile plaster on your face. You turn around, as you feel yourself rising.
There's joy, and surprise in the Axeman gaze, mimicking yours. Seems like the fight was over before he expected.

"And the first round of the battle is won by the Western Branch!"
Thunderous applause in the arena.
You were really close to win. Your two bubbles reach your teammate's; at least they had a great vantage point to observe the fight.
The discreet man that led you to the arena pop the five bubbles with a sweeping motion, and he leads you back to your room. The next fight will begin soon, but not immediately.

You take a bit of time to wind down and think while back in your lodgings, before next match starts.
This few minutes in the Arena sure felt like an eternity.
>How much did you enjoy this fighting format?
On one hand, you get farther away than you expected. On the other, you made three strategical mistakes.
First one was letting Dhundan take the captainship. You gave all orders, and he was eliminated before you.
Ok, maybe this was an half-mistake as you captured some of the aggression. Still, it would have been a better call.
Second one was letting the Wilds captain alone, and attacking the two of them in the melee. This cost you Norm Yi.
Third one was not pitting Dhundan against the Archer, and yourself against Axeman. His shield Art would have completely negate the skilled, but lacking Spiritual Arts, Western fighter. You could have taken the captain.

How do you feel about your result?
>Second place is first loser. You're bitter and mad at yourself for your mistakes [bad for your mental health, motivation to push yourself in the near future]
>Could have been better, could have been worst. You don't care much [No effect]
>You almost won. A bit unlucky, still a good showing for the sect. You're proud [good for your mental health, you won't push yourself as hard in the near future]
>>
Meanwhile, in the lodge of the branch Masters

"My respects for teaching so well your disciple, Western Branch Master. Mine will incur beatings for such a poor performance, to motivate them further.
- Poor performance? You were in first half! Don't be so harsh!"
- Fourth place is abysmally bad, we won last gathering! Seaslandia are strong but not great, so it's expected of them to finish third!
- You're seeking death? I'm pretty sure I can beat you fair in duel!
- Calm down, Southern Master. Master can't interfere in disciple fights after all.
- You look scared. Wuss.
- Anyway, you gave us a good showing, Eastern Master.
- Yeah. This year novices are for the least promising. Two of them are gifted. A third one seems to pull the whole bunch up.
- I assume your two finalists are the gifted ones?
- Only one. The second was the motivator. I actually have two really promising disciples that are not interested in competition : the Novice, and a Second-stage decade-old.
- How much do you want for transferring those disciples?
- Haha, Wild Master, I'm afraid I'm not transferring them.
- Why? You should be done with your duties and move onward, so the disciple's training won't be your problem anymore?
- With such a gifted young generation, I might request to delay my transfer for now..."

Yeah, you're taking this defeat really hard.
Part of you mulls over the fact you lost. Another mulls about the fact you didn't won both this and last bout without taking a hit yourself.
Will you be known in the future as "Daoist Invincible Loser"?
The rest of the day is spent spectating the various fights. The only thing you can do is grasp as much as you can by watching more advanced cultivator fighting.
The one-year older kids are around your power level. The fight looks very much like yours, except with less bounded spirit beasts.
Why?
The Imperial disciples still possess a full set of bonded spirits, and this is enough to let them win.
The 7-year old kids fight, however, is a bit more interresting. Spirits are still a tad less prevalent than for your own fight, and the Wilds cultivator are left to their shenanigan long enough to take down efficiently pack after pack with their harrasment strategy.
This will be their only win today : despite being probably the strongest in individual fight, the other disciples systematically group up against the harassers in a tacit alliance. You're pretty sure a Wilds cultivator attempted an elemental strike.
Things get really interesting in the next round. The older kids of this age range, the most gifted disciples of the various branches, at 10 year old, have broke through first stage and reached True Master rank.
You're seeing the full display of Spiritual Arts. The most striking aspect is the materialization of elemental forces in the real world using True Qi.
Lightning bolt and fireball crosses the arena, walled by Ice Shield, dodge by turning into a cloud of mist or a whirlwind of leaves.
Well, the one that tried to avoid the fireball by turning into leaves got bubbble'd, so maybe you should take care of that kind of things in the future.
You're pretty sure you've also seen someone Morphing in a beast-human hybrid form.
This bout is won by the Western cultivator. Their spiritual arts are less flashy, but their battle formation is impeccably clean, not influenced the tiniest by the chaos. They make all the right calls, efficiently dispels and play around bounded spirits.
The next fight is as flashy, but one particular cultivator dominate : the kid that won his own bout of the tournament with the Poison Kelp Whale Spirit proved he's worth his title.
All his techniques are based on his bounded spirit. His control over the spirit position and action is admirable and most impressive.
You don't know anything about the kid though.
>>
Next round is won by Northern, and their collection of Ice-based spirits and techniques.
But the round you found the most satisfying to watch was the last. Bathias, the leader of the team, would have seemed disfavored with his Life Hawk Spirit.
That would be a severe underestimation of techniques of the Life element, combined with the Battle King Body, turns him in your eyes into wrath made man.
Skittling, dodging, running, striking with his triple staff all around the battlefield, his efficient movements are too fast for his opponents.
In the end, you feel like you won hindsight from both your fight and the one you watched. Partaking in the event, as well as your good results, will most likely help your cultivation.
There's at least that going on well for you today.

Once the fights over, the quiet man comes back to your lodging, and order you to follow.
There is a big feast, organized for celebrating the end of the first day of the gathering.
The already luxurious, in your opinion, meal you've been offered previously are scraps in regard to the feast offered tonight.
The tables are grouped by age - you will eat with the one you fought earlier.

A Feast made by an Immortal Chief. Countless meals are laid in front of you. Of course, you partake.
However, the spiritual energy contained in the banquet is so ample that you fill full while only sampling four dishes.
>Benefit of partaking in the Immortal Feast : A few of your Potential rose!

Instead of mulling, you decide to approach the group of Northern cultivator disciples.
You glance at the group of cultivators. Fur-lined robes, pale of skin and sporting uncommon light hair colors - hazelnut brown, blond and ginger are common among them and their older Branch-siblings.
You approach the captain, with ebony-hair contrasting heavily on his white skin
"Hey. I wanted to apologize. We took you away from the fight first, and didn't won in the end...
You're kidding? We lost against the union of the disciples that won the more rounds today! Our honor couldn't be safer!
- Mine won't be! you took me from behind! By Surprise! You'll have to take responsibility!
Oh. The braided blond Halberdier girl you eliminated after she took out the Western Lancer.
"Please ignore Ing Rid. She's a sore looser. What she thinks is cowardice when done by other is cunning when she acts herself.
- Thank you. How does the North look like?
- Colder. Down here, Autumn is coming. We don't have that kind of things : in a few week, a couple month at best, winter will be laying its siege.
- I've seen some of the disciple's Ice technics. Most impressive.
- I don't know about it myself - this will have to wait when this Bjorn reach True Master realm, but Ice is said to be a versatile tool.
Shaping it as a wall, you have a roof over your head on a night out. Thrown into water, you have a makeshift raft. It can cover the ground in a layer of soft snow will you be hurled toward it.

- Yeah, that seems really convenient!
- However, it is said to be one of the weakest elements in term of raw power : Fire melt it; Earth, Metal and Lightning break through it, when Light and Darkness can directly ignore a Ice Wall.
- I didn't knew elements had affinities!
- Yeah. A strong technique with an elemental and strategical edge is said to be able to take down an opponent a Major Realm stronger!"

Then, the captain asks you about your own sect. He's a bit disappointed when you tell him you don't know much about the sea and try to stay as away as possible.
It turns out your daily life is quite similar. His sect's ressources are sparer, so the gift bag he and his team received are immense boons that will definitely help their cultivation.
Despite possibly bonding over sharing a wolf spirit, you shut up about this exact subject.
>>
Later in the night, Bathias approach you and your group.
"First, congratulations. You fought well and almost won your bout.
- You, congratulations. You fought better and won your bout. The most important one!
- Nice transition, because it wasn't : the most important one is yet to come. Their are two fights in the gathering.
The first day is 5-people squad of similar level. The last day is full disciple delegation. This is to train in conflict against invading forces, where several realms will be present on the battlefield.
We might have a chance to win it. Try to take some time to think; I'll be open to your strategical suggestions.
"
Pressure. Pressure back on your shoulder.
"But it's still a bit far away. For now you guys have to capitalize on this visit! for the following days, you can have countless opportunities with peerless masters..."

>Because you chose to push yourself despite the toll, and thanks to your performance, you can pick three :

I find it a bit humorous that we are not a genius but have such high-quality spirits and one that could kill us if ever exposed.

Also for the last slot in Spirits, I say something defensive to round out our battle power. I think bear, but idk how that meshes with us. Or the option is another wolf to train our wolf arts to keep our uber wolf a secret.

If we want a new martial art I suggest a movement type if we don't have one yet.

And?
>>
The most important thing, in your opinion, is to take advantage of the ample spiritual energy from the place and the meals to work hard on your cultivation.
And so you do. Every day, three times a day, you execute the full movement sequence of the Hawk's Wide Ballet, gathering Qi and Blood threads in your body.
You then pull the threads in the hourglass of your Eye Aperture, steadily filling up from the stream of life energy.
You appreciate having enough space to work on your Body Cultivation technique.
You are the first to rise and last to bed among the Eastern disciples group - the champion of laziness being Yi Norm, followed closely by Sin Din.
Man Din is blocked out of cultivating because of a lack of Body Tempering Liquid - you can only wonder why didn't she simply asked for some. Still, there must be a reason - she works more diligently than her twin.
Dhundan, secretive as ever, is vanishing from sunrise to sunset.

That leave you ample time to pursue a couple other things during the week. First, you want to know more about the spirit bounded to you.
However, the Warning of the Primordial Wolf Spirit still echoes in your mind :
"Be wary, as this is not a gift but a curse : most people that can glance at my scion and perceive its worth will try to rip it from you."
Who could perceive the spirit's worth more than a cultivator which style revolves around spiritual beasts?
You think your best bet to not rise suspicion would be finding a book about Primordial spirits, and use that to engage the discussion.
What could be a better place than the sect's great library? You're easily directed toward the building - rows upon rows of scroll and books.
Perfect. Where should you start?
"Looking for something?
- Informations about spirit beasts!" you immediately answer the archivist.
"I can give you the most basic texts to read here. You know how to read, right?"
Your eloquent silence foils your lead.
"Worry not, young Eastern disciple. You're at the right place - Fairy Wise Crane will be there soon."
>>
The man takes you to a separate room where other childs are waiting - hey there is the Seaslandia band among them! You sit down.
Weirdly, you couldn't hear their chatter before stepping in the room.
Soon, an elegant woman wearing a silver-white Kimono enter. You're striken by her emerald green eyes and her piercing gaze. You feel like she knows the answer to all of the questions in the world.
"Alright disciples. What story would you like to hear today?"

Over the course of the week, you hear several stories.
First, the story of Feng Liang, said to have bounded first with a spirit - A Hawk spirit.
The dunce of his martial art style, kept around as the great-grandson of the patriarch but from the lesser of lesser branches, his life was miserable.
Shamed of weighting on the sect and gorging uselessly on resources, he took the decision on his fifteenth birthday to leave and go let himself die on the peak of the nearby Azure Mount.
It is said the man met a Blue Hawk spirit, coming down the mountain six month later, having reached second realm after being stuck on opening his Nose aperture since his 10th year anniversary.
From simpleton to rising star, the boy left his original sect - which didn't withstand the trial of time - and roamed the country. Keeping moving onward, bounding more spirits (dolphin, ox, tiger and marten), the tales end with his first disciple bonding with a crane Spirit.

You make sure to attend the following storytelling sessions over the week. Fairy Wise Crane seems to have countless tales :
The Story of the Spiritual Crucible, an legendary artifact in the shape of a cauldron, able to fuse together spirits.
The Story of a fabled spirit, able to take the shape it liked among those of the 33 beasts.
The Story of Lin Xian, which discovered the secret allowing sect members to cultivate past third realm - secret exclusively taught to Third Realm cultivators that dutifully taught novices.
The Story of the cultivator that found a seemingly useless snake spirit, with no visible attribute. However, his snake grew, grew and grew some more along himself, letting him grow through the Third realm spirit despite not knowing the secret at that point.
>>
You take your chance near the end of the week.
"Fairy, please, do you have a story of a great wolf and the moon?
- I'm afraid I haven't. Wolf cultivators are not the most open to their life stories, I'm afraid.
- What about a tale of Primordial spirit?
- Primordial? That's not something I expected to hear today. Tell me, young boy, where did you learned of Primordial spirit?
- A man tried to sell me a storybook in my town. Didn't because I can't read.
- Well, you might have wanted to learn specially for this book. If you can still find it, I'll have greater interest in acquiring it - be it several decades in the future if it must be.
Hear my story : maybe it's a tale, maybe it's not.
"
Her mouth smiles, her eyes don't.
"A young cultivator entered the Great Reef - A Spiritual World which doors open to students diligently cultivating"
A wave of protest rises from students of Seaslandia arguing that it's old man tale to shame them about their non-diligence to keep them in line. Sea Turtle guy is awfully quiet.
"This is a tale I can stop telling if it seems too stretched for your taste."
Everybody instantly shut their meat flappers. She never threatens so even when you were even unrulier.
"In this submarine world, lucky cultivators encounter spirits they can bring back to the main world using spiritual bead.
Our novice encountered the greatest of the spirits, the world itself. This is what the legend call the Primordial Spirit - a spirit made of all the spirits, pulling in its grasp cultivators with an affinity.
It is said the novice merged with the Primordial Shark. Coming back, he boasted to his friends and masters about his lucky encounter.
However, the spirit seems more a dead-weight than an incredible boon. Still, it should have been worth something - on day, the disciple disappeared, never to be seen again.
Later, I met an heretic cultivator. Once a Shark Master, he was bounded to a spirit with an unbelievable strength. A spirit looking much like the one of my friend.
That Primordial Spirit, much like the 33-shape spirit I already told you about, could take several shapes. Always shape of sharks, but with different attributes.
I couldn't avenge my friend that day.
"

A chill run on your back. You didn't learned everything you needed, but at least you learned it safely.
>>
There's another thing you did that week : searching for a new technique.
Bathias advised you to directly ask the masters of other branches for a Spear technique.
So you simply ask your fellow disciples at the dinner table if they know about some Masters with spear Knowledge. The wilds disciples do and point the man for you, while snickering among themself.
You humor them, and simply walk to the man.
"Teaching a spear technique to a novice that didn't even lost his baby tooth? Bold. Are you at least compatible with wolf spirits?
- Luckily, I am. I can't show you a bounded wolf spirit though.
- [bi]If that's so... Don't complain if my technique is too hard for you.[/bi]"
And just like that the Senior materialize a spear and displays intricate moves, including scratching the tip of the spear against his arm.
The drops of blood darken and turns into shadows, taking the form of wolves attacking along him while he performs the move.
More and more wolves are summons as he display the spear style.
"[bi]There. Good luck.[/bi]"
Wait, he showed too little, and went full speed!
But being a cultivator is facing the adversity and laugh in the face of the will of Heavens. Of course you'll at least try!
While you try to emulate the moves, the Wilds master turns his back and goes away.
>Best personal roll of turnament : 92 + good performance
The scruffy woodman is stopped by a hand upon his shoulder. Hey, it's Ryota!
"Fellow Daoist Wildstride, I'd appreciate if you helped this young disciple.
- [bi]And why should I do that?[/bi]
- Do you see anyone best suited to receive help right now for the better future of the Sect?"
That settles it. You gratefully nod at the amber-eyed bulky and tanned man.
The time spent with the woodman is hard work under a skilled practitioner but an impatient master.
Of course, you are unable to summon the blood wolves yet. You guess that is because you're not second stage yet - but you're corrected.
"[bi]It's just you are too bad at the technique for now.[/bi]"
This is the hardest technique you've practiced for now. Still, it is extremely well suited for you.
You guys can't keep getting away with this.
When you ask about it, you get the following answer :
"[bi]This technic is made of 6 elements. Wolf intent, spear skill, Spiritual strength, Shadow elemental affinity, Blood material affinity and Pain mental energy.
Your affinity with the first four of these elements isn't half bad. That pulls enough weight to carry your poor Blood and Pain affinities.[/bi]
- So should I amend the technique to write them out?
"[bi]Not necessary. This is the way to circumvent your natural limitation related to those elements and push your global cultivation upward.[/bi]"

Strengths
Fire, Gold, Shadow, Spiritual, Beasts, Spear Halbard, Snake, Wolf, Hawk, Horse, Meteor Hammer

Natural - Mental?(From training with bf), Bow, Saber

>Ask why Man Din is not permitted to cultivate?

Of course, you asked Man Din the reason why. In a few words :
She chose some private tutelage from the masters to work on controlling her bounded spirit beast.
This takes more of her time, and is already an huge favor - which have been made clear to her. So she didn't also required BTL.
Simply said, she doesn't cultivate because she's lacking BTL. Many such case for beginners.

>Ask if any of the masters can run a more detailed test for our affinities, we have only had a mild testing at our first sorting.
With the weak coming to an end, you muster the courage to capitalize fully on the opportunity of the main compound's visit.
You approach a Senior you identified as a master of the Thousand Beast Tamers really open to teaching newcomers :
"Testing for affinity? Yes, of course I know such a method. It takes a bit of time for each affinity, so I won't test the whole creation on you.
In addition, the process is peculiar : you'll have to circulate your technique and I'll approach captured spiritual beast, checking how your soul would react.
The fluctuations can tell me about your affinity. However, be wary the process can be a bit harsh, as your soul might attempt to bind, and be denied.
This is not dangerous, but really unpleasant. That being known, do you wish to partake?
"

You're not concerned about the discomfort. Well, not that concerned - getting your leg bitten was not an amount of pain you'll willingly suffer again.
Still, a prong of instinct warns you about potential danger : you're afraid the master glancing in your soul might spot the wolf spirit.

The risk of getting caught is real. But answering, even partially, that question is tempting...

Over the course of the next hour, you're slowly introduced to a handful of spirit.
First, the Master ask to see your spirits up close.
"I need to see your spirits to avoid them fighting or absorbing the spirits I have over there...
- Absorbing a spirit?
- Not something for mere Novices to know about."
The man have clearly let something big slept. He's hiding his blunder using his authority, but you won't let that cheap trick fool you.

"C'mon, I've already seen them in the arena after all.
...
So, something like A Silver Fighter Horse, a Galactic Spear Snake and a Gold Flame Hawk? This hawk is strange...
"
You don't like the glimpse of greed in the master eye, so you take back your Hawk spirit, letting the old man with a pointy white beard regain his composure.
"Ahem, right, right. I'll show you spirit with a lower affinity. Your soul seems already stretched to the maximum so you won't accidentally bind them.
Still, the soul might try to reach them. I'll slap it back to you to avoid backlashes.
"

First, a Liquid Earth Hare. Then, the cutest thing you've ever seen in the form of an Obsidian Thunder-Mouse. Next is something that you felt amazing affinity for, a Poison Wood Crab. You wish you could bind with it if it wasn't, well, a Crab.
Meanwhile, cogs of your brain are running. Hare are preys of Hawks. Mouses are preys of Snake. So this relationship is not something that could draw a spirit to fight or to absorb.
Last, the master let out a Vulpine spirit. Your heart skip a bit. Is it the end? How would the Wolf Spirit react to this?
"Are you alright? This will be the last one, I don't want to oppress you after all."
You're shaking in fear. Your Scion of Primordial Wolf spirit hunkers down in the heart aperture, in an hopeless attempt not to be drawn out by the rival intruding your soul's vicinity.
>>
"So the overall affinity of the Jade-Mist Hound is not half bad. You're not clueless with Dogs, it seems. You are quite talented as I can feel your other spirit share an even deeper affinity.
In the end, you can definitely train Poison and Earth techniques as a part of your foundation. Same, you might draw more of treasures made of Jade or Wood.
You won't benefit as much of techniques of Mist and Thunder, but you could do well enough on a given opportunity. However, the Liquid attribute is really ill-suited to you.
"
Your wolf remained perfectly hidden while the Hound spirit approached your soul. Your secret is safe for now.
Still, the stretching of your soul and the stress wear you down heavily today. You go back to your quarter after partaking parsimoniously to today's feast, and let your mind roam before sleeping.

Your week was quite busy, and all thing considered, you feel like you've greatly profited from the visit to the main branch : your cultivation leaped forward thanks to the ample ambient energy, you get insights about both your affinities and the mysterious bounded spirit, and you have an insanely good fighting technique.
You still have a handful of pills. You didn't even need to take some that week as the meal's spiritual energy provided the same kinds of benefits.
In fact, it's better to not abuse pills as your body can grow habituated to it, diminishing their effects, letting you face unforeseen circumstances such as a spiritual energy backlash or a foundation for an Inner Demon.
However, the ebony lining is your lack of treasures - your friend's Dhundan's saber is impressive to say the least. You cope by telling yourself you would outgrow such a thing anyway - if you can keep your progress speed in the future.

You wake up for the last day before going back. To close the week of gathering, the two branches with best result in the team fight tournament will display their skills to the other sect's member.
This time, you know your opponents - meaning you won't surprise them by hiding your trumps - excluding Man Din, which told you her secret training paid off.
You didn't took much time to discuss Strategy with Bathias. Still, he asked about your preference - didn't he registered you lost against Western already? Your squad will...
>Act as first line canon fodder. Draw mystical fire to your group, let your own team's spiritual art take down the spellslingers. With a bit of luck, you can get revenge against the teamfight winners.
>Split your squad. You and Sin Din will act as fast-moving unit to take down opponents with their guard down, while Dhundan, Yi and Man Din will bulk up the older-kid group and act as supports
>Asked to be kept in backline, and enter the fight once the strongest spiritual arts are exhausted.

The rules of this battle is simple : the side with at least one member still standing at the end win.
You're also told the enchantment is more refined than the crude touch-to-bubble one - the enchantment will trigger when blood is drawn, making stronger cultivators able to endure hits from weaker cultivators more realistically.
Of course, this is purely negative for you as you're of the younger age group, thus among the weaker fighter present.
Both group have set their battle formations, in layer lines with weaker cultivators on the front and the stronger as deeper and deeper lines.
You are on the left flank, Sin Din on the right one.
As you have not bothered to ask about strategy during the week, you're a bit clueless about what's going to happen or to be expected.
In the end, you start with the Horse Spirit and the Hawk Spirit revealed. You took a Halberd in the armory - you're more proficient with it than with a Spear as you didn't worked on your new technique yet, only learned the basic to train by yourself.

The battle starts. First lines are charging in.
You...
>Go take down some Melee fighters - you recognize the Western kids you fought among their first line.

>Melee fighters : 20 for DC 60
Yeah, your teammates are way worse than the Western fodder - they were after all one of the most organized force at each fight of the tournament, the close-knit team aspect compensating their lack of bonded spirits or flashy art by sheer efficiency.
Meanwhile, the inner-positioned cultivator unleash their efficient arts over your head, but you feel their energy dissipate behind you.

This is a slaughter. All of the Western younger fighter are still standing, while half of your branch fellows fell to the dreaded bubbles.
You charge, maybe taking one down could show your teammate they're not invulnerable? You charge. Sin Din, on the other side, follows your untold call.
>Your spellslingers : 69 for DC 60 - 12 hits
Until the movement of the other fighter slow downs, and what looks like a mist of pointy rocks invade their position, the mineral piercing and slashing around indiscriminately, taking away those not simply pelted to bubble-death.
>9 :
Wait, you're charging right in the needle wall! Your momentum is too much to stop!
Your horse, being one with you, lashes out, sending you face first on the ground.
This is a fall that could injure an average grown man. But you're better than that : you're a cultivator. Your pride hurted more than your health, you stand up to witness the spiritual art tearing your Silver Warrior Horse to shred
>Lost your mount. It will take one week until you muster enough spiritual energy to summon it again from your Astral Self.
Winded, you stand up.
On your right, the three Western Kids than won last fight - the closer one is the Axeman leader. On your left? Danger. In front of you, the spellcaster are readying a new wave

Someone might told him to hold up on his trump to save his skin. Oh well. Plus, he's taking way too long to materialize his spirit - maybe you're skilled, most likely you've been training with them since several month where he acquired it a few days ago.
A hawk to the face - and two courteous bows - later, you assert the situation.
Your comrades haven't progressed much - shield guy is holding of, the archer have picked of two of the fodders - that's not a nice way to think of your senpais.

Sorry anons, the dreaded personnal life come back under the form of me unwrapping the copy of FF7 remake I bought 4 years ago in addition to quality time with the S.O. before my business trip of next week.
So I have to wake up in 8 hours to drive 4 hours, do the day of labor, do the social obligations with coworkers, etc. for the next three days.
So I'll try to update but the exact timeline is a bit blurry in my head. I hope I could do with half-assed battle update but I have to actually write the full-ass "leaving the sect update"; thus I'll apologize for any delay.

Sincere regards, your dear Retarded Phd Dragon-enthusiast.

Best course of action is of course rushing their spellslingers, granting your ranged allied breathing room in the meantime. You know it's a reckless gambit, but what else can you do at that point?
>You : 49 for a DC of 81
You're no longer mounted. Your weapon-training is at peak of foundation-opening level, meaning behind your opened heart-aperture level.
All of that matter little in front of the gap between you and the second-realm spell-slinger, that claps in her hand. Her true Qi empowers the sound, hitting you like a punch in the face. Your ears keep ringing while the bubble takes you away.
>Rest of your group : 61for a DC of 78
On your right, the other first stage fighters are similarly struck down by quick and simple bolts of fire, poison, darkness.
That took them half a breath to sweep you away. At least Dhundan saved your honor by taking down both Shield-wielder and Bow-wielder before getting his Dark Pangolin Scale shield pierced by a Light-based spiritual art.

Your own spellslingers where supporting your group with their offensive art. However, a few of the Western spellslingers held the mystical fire while the other unleashed an elemental rain on the two elites fighter on your left.
The 3 Western Elite capitalize on the rise of the tide of the battle, crushing the two cultivators and turning the wave in a tsunami.
The two Elite on the right took down one of the Western third-stage cultivator. However, the remaining one is pinning the two of them down for now.

You see all of it unfold from your iridescent vantage point. At this point, you know it's lost. The Spellslingers pack split : half make it rain, while the other join the Elite charging the Eastern second-realm cultivator pack, wrecking them like a sharp knife tear apart an overcook cabbage.
Bathias, the last standing, is quickly overwhelmed by the dozen of enemy, while the lone third-realm flip the table by taking down, against all odds, the two elites.
This is an utterly unquestionable defeat for your branch. And you haven't made a good showing at all.

On one hand, you only had one week to train and attempt to overcome those who beat you. On the other, you feel the gap grew instead of narrowing : after all, without the fire-support of your elder, you're pretty sure the Eastern 1st-rank would have lost against their Western counterpart.
That concludes the Tamers of Myriad Beasts Decennial Gathering. You are unbubbled, sent back to your room to gather your thing. A few of the master, including Fairy Wise Crane and your old Hawk Master, wish all disciples a safe travel back home.
>>
Going forward the wooden carts, you feel a hand on your shoulder. Seemingly soft as velvet, stopping you in place like a steel claw.
"A word, disciple."
Ryota is behind you. That's it, he've seen you're worthless. You'll get kicked out, like you deserve.

"You did quite well. For now, you're not a peerless fighter. Honestly, this might not be your own path.
The path of a strategist, however, might be suited both for you and the interests of the sect.
Still, this will be more work on your shoulders and expectations on your behalf.
And I believe "better is the greatest ennemy of good, while the only thing better than good is good enough"
So what I'm asking you : are you willing to let me shape you in a leader?
"

"Alright. That mean you'll travel with me this week. There's much to learn about."
Thus, you're on for a ride with Ryota. The train of disciples take off, the man focused on making sure everything is ok. Once you reached cruising altitude, he speaks again :
"First, there are several kinds of leader : Leader by mandate - someone with real authority made them in charge. It's often disastrous.
Leader by example - someone that people look up to, often a gifted individual. This is also not the best case as a really strong fighter doesn't have to be charismatic to succeed.
No, what' I'm striving for in your case is Leader by merit : nurtured into the position, knowing you don't have to be the best but take the advise from them.
Being observant, analytical, strategical. Giving orders, getting followed, even by stronger people.
That also mean you'll need to be literate : your team's member will need to look up to your knowledge.
Last, take this as your first lesson :

A wise senior once stood up before his disciples with a large empty glass jar. He filled the jar to the top with large rocks and asked his students if the jar was full.
The disciples said that yes, the jar was indeed full.
He then added small pebbles to the jar, and gave the jar a bit of a shake so the pebbles could disperse themselves among the larger rocks. Then he asked again, “Is the jar full now?”
Most of the disciples agreed that the jar was still full, while a few objected.
Nodding at the perspicacious ones, the senior then poured sand into the jar to fill up any remaining empty space.
He asks one last time about the jar.
The disciples then disagreed that the jar was completely full. The professor called upon a spiritual art, filling the jar with water. Everybody agreed it was full to the brim.
If I put everything out of the jar, and fill it in reverse, it will never fit, said the professor. The rocks are your priority. And be wary of the water :
Calling upon another spiritual art, the professor turned the water in ice, the jar exploding.
What is truly full to the brim doesn't have any way to account for necessary changes mandated by natural order. So let me ask you : what are your large rocks?

life is made of choice. You'll have to think about it, and set your course of action accordingly."

This really makes you think. What are your large rocks? Working on your foundation? Your weapon skill? Becoming stronger for the oncoming tournaments? Your friendships? Learning more about the spirits beasts? About the Primordial Wolf Scion?
>Each anon can write-in what they want to be a "big rock" for MC. You can either support an existing write-in, or add one. This will shape the future votable actions.
So you aim to have as much "big rocks" as possible. I'll regroup them for sanity purposes.

Also, you will ask Ryota About the world

>>5950520
>Potential

We harness the potential of our friends, and ourselves. Squeeze every ounce of talent out Dhudan and Ai who are too eccentric by themselves to properly utilize their heavenly-gifts.

Without us Dhundan would've been stuck as a petulant child unable to interact with others because of his mental pressure, and Ai would be wholly unconnected from the material world- lost in her flights of fancy. We harnessed their potential not by ordering them, or utilizing authority, but by becoming their friend and subtly changing their character through that friendship.

We pushed our boundaries to limit, often to our own danger, and turned our promising yet meager talent, into genius, and pushed the gifted ones further through that.

Our rock, the foundation of our genius, is our ability to harness the potential of EVERYONE. To better others, through the betterment of ourself.

(Basically our leadership is through example, and doubling down on being a retard who cultivates at the cost of mental health to motivate the lazy bones.)
>>
>>5950520
>Big rocks are potential of our team and our foundation

Despite our aim to lead, we do need to have a sizable cultivation to be listened too. Doubly important if we have to work with people outside the sect.
>>
Don't forget about the in-game loredump session! would you like to know more about the Empire? The town? The provinces? A branch of the sect? What are Heretical Technics? What are Demonic technics?

>What are your large rocks?
I'd say that learning more about the Primordial Wolf Scion and about spirit beasts generally would be an important area, since other anons have already suggested friendship and our foundation. Just as our friends have their heavenly gifts and in-born talents, we need to nurture our own aces, in the form of our cultivation and our beasts. It would be a true shame to let our potentially strongest assets go to waste because we hadn't bothered to develop our understanding of and relationship to them properly. If I know anything about wuxias, our wolf cub is going to wind up with human-level intelligence eventually (as may our other bonded beasts, depending)-- and it fits nicely with our existing ambitions to bring out everyone's potential, human or otherwise.

>Coarse Aggregate - My Dreams
>Ryota - What are the great dangers of the world which a strategist of our group must be ready to overcome.

Also, that jar fails because it is brittle. It was full from the beginning, with air and capacity/potential. These were replaced, first by cheap filler material, then by smaller fill material, then by fine fill, and finally by the vulnerability which brought failure of the container. The filler materials remained fluid, the shards of the jar joining the now loose aggregates. Had one added an epoxy or cement, then the failure of the jar would not have resulted in the decoupling of the contents. Even with freezing, had the jar prepared properly it could perhaps have survived the tribulation by using it's accumulated materials to retain its shape. The jar lacked the ability to adapt, and the power to resist, and so it failed.

Over the course of the trip back, you take some time to deeply think about your "big rocks"
>Potential
>Friendship
>Foundation
>Weapon skills
>Spiritual Beasts
>The sect
That's quite a few of them. But the jar was made of mundane glass. You'll only need to temper it to avoid it to break. You might even expand it that way.

You also have quite a few answer to quite a few questions.

>Provinces of the empire and our position
Ryota shows you the map in Picrel. He indicates the position of the Eastern branch. Of course, the map only indicate biggest towns. Most towns are under the rule of a sect or organisation but you didn't caught everything said, immersed in gazing at the sheet of paper encompassing the whole empire.

>What are the levels of cultivation
There are nine cultivation level :
The First Stage, Beyond Mortal, starts at the Heart Aperture opening. You will next open your Eye Aperture, Nose Aperture, Ears Aperture and lastly Mouth Aperture. Then, the Fish Leaping Through the Dragon Gate tribulation will let you reach...
The Second Stage, True Master. In that stage, you'll have to open your Eight Dragon Dantian with True Qi. Once the Dragon Horn Dantian is opened, True Qi will circle back to the Original Dantian. The Qi loop will attract the Tribulation Lightning, tempering your body to...
The Third Stage, Battle King. You will need to temper your Four Extraordinary Meridians. Opening one of them gives a surge of power, at the cost of decreasing energy while recovering. Opening the four of them trigger the Tribulation Lightning, tempering your body to...
The Fourth Stage, Inborn. True Qi condense a Void Core. The Battle King Body stays activated at all time : every single move muster a strength roughly at the level of a Battle King giving its all. The inborn True Qi, even purer, can also be used to power Flying Sword arts.
The stage minor realms are condensing the 9 Immortal Bones. Each will pierce the Void core when quenched. However, there is a risk to shatter the Core, leading to a full stop in the cultivation progress. This is also the last chance to delay the Tribulation, if opportunities are nearby, for once the Tribulation Lightning is defeated, the cultivator is tempered to...
The Fifth Stage. Spirit Sovereign. the Void core is turned into a Golden Core, with an amount of Dragon Pattern depending on inner potential, raised skills, lucky encounters, and so on. Once the Golden Core is formed, the Dragon Pattern will remain for all of cultivator life.
It's important to have as many as possible. 1 to 3 is a low amount : with only these few, the cultivator will remain stuck at Fifth Stage no matter what. With 5, you can hope to breach through 7th stage, although it will take twice the effort for half the result of a 6-pattern cultivator.
Cultivators with 7 pattern can reach Ninth stage, without any guarantee to cross minor realms inside. Of course, the goal is to reach 8 pattern, or even 9.
>>
Ryota doesn't know much more about higher cultivation stages.

>What's a reasonable cultivation speed for a bright prospect.
Depends on town size.
Capital City : Simpleton if still first Stage at 15. Good would be second stage at 10, third at 20, fourth at 30. Genius would be second stage at 8, third stage at 15-16, fourth stage before 25.
Big City : Simpleton if still first Stage at 20. Genius prospects if second stage at 10. Genius if third stage at 20, fourth stage at 30. Good would be 2nd at 15, third at 30.
Remote City : Local big shot if third stage. Respected at second. Most are stuck in first stage.

>Who are our enemies, as a sect and as a force?
The Heavenly way, smiting down cultivator attempting to rise through their current condition.
The Netherworld, jealous of our world's opulence.
More pragmatically, the Empire is at war with the Knights of the Western Kingdom. The Empire itself is not safe outside of towns : strong spiritual beasts can be found anywhere, everywhere. Small village are often destroyed by a wandering third-realm beast. A ninth-level beast attacking any town except the capital will create serious destruction.

>Are there heretical techniques? Demonic?
Let's first answer the heretical part : There are two answers to that one : Yes. Their exists Techniques to funnel the cultivation of a defeated foe. To pluck by... grown up stuff... latent talent.
Those are example of heretism, and will draw ire of sects. Truth is the commoner have a false idea of hertism : blood technics, demonic technics, soul technics, dark technics are seen as such. The truth is more nuanced, and people of power actually tolerate those arts.
They should not be openly shown to commoner to avoid panic though.
Demonic technics are, like Heavenly technics, art that fuel themself on the energy of the Netherworld or the Heavens, some realm one step away from ours but that can't be walked into.
There's nothing inherently wrong or right with either, but once again, commoners might not be aware.

>What are common mistakes of cultivators in their cultivation
Bottlenecks. It happens to everybody. You'll have to find a treasure, a medicine, a lucky encounter or a new technique to smash through. But the proverbial bottle as many, many proverbial necks.
Good thing is you won't meet them until you're 8 : you still have the mouthful of Inborn True Qi your mother gave you when you came to this world.
Wrong use of medicine. I think you personally rely quite a bit on pills. For now, it is okay but you'll need to require to the service of a Medicine Master sooner or later.
However, we don't have any in the Eastern Branch. A solution would be gaining a favor with another sect of Lotus Harbor. Or capitalize on a later visit.

>What is the biggest mother sect of our beast taming organisation?
Trainers of Million Beast. It's a council which every member of the sect over True Monarch realm are part of.
>>
>What is the result of incorrect cultivation [I'm talking about Qi deviation]
Several steps are critical. Jumping through the Dragon Gate, gone wrong, would set you back to open Mouth Aperture minor realm.
Lightning tribulation can be lethal. This happens rarely in low stage with enough Preparation and formations, but it still can happen.
Some wound can shatter aperture, dantians, meridians.
Ambient spiritual energy can be loaded in element. Cultivating hard in an unsuited element might deviate your Qi, tainting it with said unsuited element, taking more energy for basic technics and spiritual art. However, this is quite a rare affliction - I only HEARD of it as a risk.

>Who is in charge of our sect branch, You?
Yes.

>Who are our allies, What are their specialities?
The Imperator of course. Our sect, as all, is loyal to the Imperial family.
We've evidently got good relationship with smaller noble families : Copper Frost Turtle, Dreamlike Butterfly Blossom and Stable Lotus comes to the mind.
However, things are a little bit tensed with some other families : we have no branch near Talismans of the Sound Blade for instance.
Of the greater sects, we have good relation with Fist of the Green Dragon and Paper Tigers - although I don't understand why the Paper Tigers are a greater sects. I banded with one of their members once. He was the unluckiest, clumsiest braggart I ever met. A true wonder we made it through the small realm unscathed.
Green Dragon are martial artist. I once saw one of them in the battlefield. A fourth-stage. He won bare-handed against two fifth-stages.
In our world, might makes right. However, the Green Dragon disciples have a strong morale code. Their pride relies on four pillars : fraternity, respect, holding their word and dedication.
Truefire Spellslingers are said to be Hotheads, but I never met them. I'll let you guess what's their shtick is. Other big sects you need to know about are the Buddhist Temple, All-knowing Scholars and Ninja of the Unseen. Once again, self-explanatory.

>Do I need to learn politics, or just learn warfare?
Warfare is politics : most battles issues are known before they start. Even matches such as the one of earlier are a rare oddity. Thus, what matter the most about a battle is all except the battle itself. Logistics. Money mustered. Alliances.
Politics is warfare. You have to hold your ground. Fight teeth and nail. Watch your back.

>What are the great dangers of the world which a strategist of our group must be ready to overcome?
The biggest danger is the unknown. What are your strength? Your weakness? Does you or a party member have a way to deal with the current danger?
Do you know about this exact formation used as a trap? What are the specific of this poison? How to avoid the Lightning Rain of this secret realm? What's the best way to react from the Spiritual Sky Shark who attacked?

You try to address several thing over the last couple weeks.

First, helping Man Din break through. You notice she doesn't seems to go pester the Branch Masters at all - where you were on their back at every waking moment when trying your own breakthrough.
"Why aren't you trying harder?
- Well, other might need more...
- Nonsense. You have a treasure-grade bounded spirit. You are the remaining one of the more advanced group. You realize you're asking for less than other kids less gifted, that doesn't even have their own spirit?
- Still, it makes me feel queasy, having to ask..."

No point beating around the bush. You proceed on dragging her to the Boar (and Branch) Master and requesting Body Tempering Liquid on her behalf to Ryota.
"Well we have still quite a few of Body Tempering Liquid in the sect's treasury. Between the fast breakthrough of 4 out of 5 of your group, and the benefits we reaped from Transplanhumance, and the next crop of disciple not there yet, of course Man Din can get as much as she wants!"

With that settled, you still take quite a bit of time to stay with her - she's worried about "things somehow going wrong" when cultivating by herself.
Yi also stepped onward to watch her. You spend long, boring hours watching her cultivate - You cultivating at her side somehow makes her stop and feel unsafe and wasting your time.
In the end, this push was enough to let her break through and becoming a true cultivator.

>Working on your Foundation
You are still working yourself on opening your Eye Aperture on the spare time, and strengthening your body. Your progress is slow.
It feels like your body generate half as much Qi and Blood threads for twice the effort - maybe you're suffering from the lower density of spiritual energy available?
>No one write-in to consume pills
Maybe it's also because you're wary of medicine effect, thus you haven't used your pills this two weeks. You don't know if this was paranoïa or a good call. Anyway, it might be alright to start popping pills again - and they haven't been made by the same person so it should be ok, right?
Still, you're successful pulling all you generated into your eye aperture, with the help of your spiritual beasts. This might have been helped by the lack of draw on your Qi and Blood threads by not working on your Techniques.
There's no denying the steady work on your foundation is paying dividends : you feel the Eye aperture is half-full.
>>
>Catch up with Ai
Last part of your time is spending some time with Ai.
She have broke through the Heart Aperture, and been gifted a Spiritual Beast.
"It's a Resilient Intent Cristal Hare."
The spirit is quite cute, fitting her overall dreamy tone. You dedicate quite a bit of your time to spend with the girl.
Her cheerful attitude and not-caring demeanor, as well as happiness actually does wonder for your mental health. She makes you feel like she's not part of this world, she's a dream incarnated showing conformism is clearly not the only way.
Her way is not yours. You're too anchored in the harsh reality. And you feel that spending time with her actually makes her interact more with the mundane, physical old world and its inhabitants.
That is, until she said something haunting to you.
"I'm glad you're back. It is great talking with you, ... Wait a second, I think I forgot your name. What is it again?"

That open a can of worm. You have a name, it'll be stupid not to have one. You deflect by acting offended, but you don't sleep well that night. You sport dark circles under your eyes at the next global calisthenics session of the sect.
"Are you OK?
- I don't know. Just to check... Could you ask Yi Norm to come over there?
- Sure! Yi Norm, He wants to talk to you.
- What's the matter?
- That's what I thought. None of you know my name."
They both awkwardly shuffle. Dhundan does not know. Neither does Kyo Ko or Bathias.

Your Mental Health significantly worsen - you're barely holding by thanks to the little respite granted by spending time with Ai.

What should you do over the next couple week?

>Name Issue:
First thing first, you immediately go toward Ryota.
"I have an issue, Ryota.
- What is it?
- What's my name? I don't remember it. Can you undo the memory seal?
- Too late for that. The effects are now permanent
- So am I to remain nameless?
- This is actually not such a bad thing. A true name hold real power over people, be it for curses or divination.
This is why most cultivator have a Daoist Name. Broadly, they can be based upon your geographic Area - or geographic Area are named after Daoist, such as Stable Lotus Harbor bear the Name of Stable Lotus, the patriarch of same-named clan.
You can also chose a name linked to a skill you're proud of, or be it Technique, Talent, or cultivation path. Last, you can also chose a name linked to a Virtue or a philosophical goal of your.
Some examples from my personal friends : Hundred Peaks Martial Master (Geographical), Unbreakable Spirit Shield (Skill), All Learner's Teacher (Virtue) -- the master of Versatile Harmony Sect, or even mixed name, such as Proud Hammer.
Name are usually validated by an Elder. I can proclaim it tomorrow morning. And no worry, upon big events, you can change your Daoist name.
"
>Write-in a Daoist name!

You also spend a fair amount of time working on the sect's mundane beasts. You quite like that, and realized you missed the affection and playfulness of animals that weren't part of your own being.
Ryota even commented on your good work one day while he was passing by the Hawk aviary.
"It's good you're helping weaning the little ones. In a few weeks, a couple month, we'll have a new stream of newcomers that will probably bond with their own beasts.
For the good of the sect, you should keep taking care of them over the next two month."
>>
>Work on Foundation + Consume all pills

Supplementing yourself with your pills, your cultivation speed increase drastically - three time as fast than last weeks, barely overtaking Dhundan and leaving Ai behind in term of raw progress.
You pop the last pill in her mouth, then start dancing the Hawk's wide Ballet.
Wings Unfurling. Soaring Ascent. Swooping Dive. Eagle's Gaze. Wind Carve. Talon's Grip. Perch Stance. Skyward Spiral. Hovering Glide. Feathered Finesse. Tailwind Pivot. Aerial Hunt. Circling Ascension. Thermal Spiral. Dive and Roll. Skyward Stretch. Wind-Brushed Waltz. Hawk's Rest
The hidden techniques of your body cultivation still eludes you.
It doesn't matter. You sit, and circle the Meditation technique of the Way of the Spiritual Beast Whisperer.
The inner peace found by sorting the name issue, and the soothing presence of beast's sect newborn, seem to have unlocked once again your soul potential. Possibility unfurls in the astral gaze of your close eyes.

>Hindsight: Correctly identify the hawk spirit.

The full name of the spirit is revealed to you in a flash of understanding.
The Ascendant Golden Flame Hawk.
In addition to the elements of Hawk, Gold and Fire, a fourth one is a full constituent of your first bounded beast.
The clarity of mind just reached grants you an innate understanding of that last element, the element of growth.
An elusive element; unaligned to any techniques or spiritual arts. A technique more bound to treasures.
This grant them the amazing ability to grow along the user - not shackled to the lower realms.
A piece of information comes to mind : a bounded spiritual beast can absorb another, as the greedy Beast Master let slipped. Maybe this is a way to release the shackle of a level-bound beast?
Another piece of the puzzle clicks in place.
Dhundan's treasured saber... You are certain you were recognizing the energy coming from the treasure. You're pretty sure Growth is a constituent.
You feel you don't grasp all the consequences, but it is definitely valuable.

>67
You feel like something is wiggling at the corner of your eye. The door to a spiritual realm. Not the realm aligned to a beast, but the very realm of the concept of Growth.
The door eludes you. Still, you feel the realm of growth might be reachable in a future breakthrough.

The very next day, Ryota say a word to all the Disciple gathered, sitting in Seiza.
"Disciples, I am glad to annonce you I decided to grant a Dao name to fellow disciple Quiet Word. If you could please stand, Disciple Quiet Word."
You raise under a thunder of applause.

Ive a few ideas for Growth. But they mostly involve waitinf ro a breakthrough
>>
>>5955381
You can't add the "growth" keyword to a technique. It's treasure - only.
Like the "Expanding Hawk's Wide Ballet" is not a valid option

No no, I mean literally waiting for the breakthrough to impliment.

Since it is the biggest and most direct form of "Growth" we have and it opens the door to the spirit realms anyway.
Others are like; Just prior to breakthrough, feèd the hawk some body tempering liquid. Recite self made poetry (Being a new application of a new skill we learned: literacy).

Thats my two cents on ideas.

Gonna try this Odin style.

>Carve out a secret spot for ourselves somewhere. Some secret disguised hole in the ground, or cave, or something that the sect won't know about.

>Work on your Leader role by becoming literate.

>Literacy
Over the course of the next couple weeks, you go personally request to Ryota to learn how to read.
"Well, on one hand it fit the Quiet Word name you chose. However, I told you weaning the young beast would be good for the sect as the onslaught of newcomers will come.
So tell me. Why should I indulge in this fancy of yours instead of beating your up and requesting to do your duties?
"
An unprepared disciple would had gulp. But you have a better-than-most inner understanding of the navigation of the intricate web of social relationship.
"Well first, you will be personally very busy with the upcoming new crop of Disciple. So you won't really have time to teach me in the next months.
Then, every disciples can wean beast. How much requested to learn literacy?
Last, you told me as a first lesson I'll need to be literate. So drop the pretense, old man."
Ryota smiles, as both of you recall his words : Politics is Warfare. He probed, you answered by placing your argument like deployed soldier to take the brunt of his attack, circle him, and lend the decisive strike.
Over the next month, you are instructed every day about the secrets of inks and paper. Of course, the matter is eased by both your young age - kid learn more easily, and your status of "cultivator", even though of the lowest of ranks, grants extraordinary abilities. Your progress is not half bad.
>You can now read roughly a 100 of the most common words, while being able to write around half of them.

>Work on your Spear Style
Most of your time, over the course of this month, is devoted to work on your Spear style.
However, despite the help of the Cosmic Snake Spear, and the fact you're advanced enough in your cultivation, you make little to no progress.
You can't help but think the wolf master from the Wilds was setting you for failure with such a difficult style. But you've learned it. You feel you can actually benefit a great lot from this style.
Still, your failure sting twice : the Qi and Blood threads you gathered every day and saved for this training where burn to nothingness.
The road of cultivation is full of progress and setback. Looks like this was a setback. This stings hard.

>Medicine expert :
However, your bad luck seems to turn around the half of the month.
Seeing you frustrated with your low progress on your technique, the Snake Mistress takes you apart one day.
"Mandatory break time. City trip today : we have something to sell to the Stable Lotus Clan."
You are disappointed about having to miss practice today - maybe you could have done it today? However, you're glad of the opportunity to find a Medicine Expert.
Thus, you go walk the plain path between the sect's compound and Stable Lotus Harbor.
"What do we have that Stable Lotus clan would desire so much?
- A Lotus Goose and a Lotus Elephant. Now shut up and try to keep up."
And try you do. Summoning the Horse spirit, you gallop on the road.
"You really need a movement technique."
You don't have much to answer. Soon, you are in front of the city lord's sect compound.
You haven't spot a doctor's sign on the way - those are words you took extra care remembering - except the really expensive one in the city square in front of Stable Lotus compound.
The sight of towers and building shaped like closed lotus flower and countless canals filled to the brim with Lotus flower crossed by wooden bridges is still breathtaking.

"This is Stable Lotus sect's ground! State your business!
- No need to be so formal, Peng. I, Maya Tao, Snake Master of Eastern Branch of Tamers of Hundred beasts, came with Spiritual Beast of greater interest for your sect.
- Is at so? Come in, come in. Hey, I saw you fighting in the turnament! How dare you show after beating up so harshly the young mistress!
- Aren't you ashamed insulting my disciple? A man that broke through First Stage at 16 year old? Stuck at guarding duty, you won't inch closer to filling your dantians."
That shut him up, while he's guiding you toward the heart of the compound. The buildings and courtyard are truly a town withing town, built upon the richest leylines of the city.
You stole a glance at the Novices tempering their body on the lotus pillars, you see some more inner courtyard lit up with spiritual arts. Until your awe is shattered by a piercing shriek
"You!
Sorry young mistress! I shouldn't have let him
- Hello, LienWen YanEr
- How are you? Have your cultivation progressed? At my current rhythm, I should break through second stage in a tad less than two years! I'll show you then the secret of Stable Lotus Spirit arts; you won't stand a chance!"
The young mistress, clad in training clothes, just ditched her tutors to face you dramatically, ignoring the poor Peng that is way out of his depth.
You are also pretty sure she forgot your name.
>>
"I guess your cultivation keep progressing?
- Yes! I Recently opened and stabilized the Eye Aperture! Working on the Nose; once it is opened it is said each breath taken is akin to cultivating! Jealous? Are you close to opening your Heart Aperture at least?
- Actually I shattered through it. Already working on the Eye Aperture. I have to confess you are still ahead.
- What's not to expect from an heiress like me?
- Alright Disciple Quiet Word. I'll leave you with the Young Mistress friend of yours while I take care of the business. Ah, to be young again."
The snake mistress elusively smiles. You really don't get it.

You catch up with the girl. You tell her about the visit to the main compound (keeping for yourself the Snake Spear spirit and the related leg wound, the Primordial Wolf story and his Scion, the Growth Element of the Golden Hawk and your new, mastered but poorly practiced, Spear style).
This is a double-win for you : one point for the travel, one point for the team-fight experience, versus only one for her better advancement.
This untold competition plays in your favor.
"I won't let you best me! I don't want to hear something like I win only because of my overall level next time we fight! How can I help you progress further?
- Well, there might be something. I'm looking for a Medicine Master for advice. You have one in the sect?
- Yes! Young Uncle Soulgaze is the best around!"

And soon enough, you're dragged toward the Medicine Master lotus-shape abode.
"Uncle Soulgaze! Here's my friend Quiet Word from Beast Tamers! Could you cook him something very fast?
Let me watch him..."
The long-haired man in a white robe eye illuminate. You feel pierced though and through.
Waitwaitwait did you made a mistake? Can he see your soul as his name indicate? Can he gaze at the Scion of Primordial Wolf spirit?
"So...I see a foundation with hints of Hawk and Dance? Of course an Astral Self based meditation... A Wind and Horse Halberd technique... And that last one... Spear, Wolf, Blood and Shadow?
I know I'm missing some elements. You have already consumed a fair share of globally-rounded pills. I'd advise to avoid them for the time being... Take this instead.
"
While speaking, the man picked up roots, cristals, powders in his spiritually-charged pharmacy.
Slicing, weighting, mixing, gathering in the furnaces, a quick fire spiritual art let the alchemical reaction unfurl.
A few minutes later, he hands you the pills.
>Obtained 10 Qi and Blood Pills [Hawk][Dance]
>Obtained 10 Qi and Blood Pills [Astral Self]
>Obtained 10 Qi and Blood Pills [Wind][Horse]
>Obtained 10 Qi and Blood Pills [Spear][Wolf][Blood][Shadow]
>>
You profusely thank the young mistress for her gift.
"As Father Say, we have the duty to pull the whole city's cultivator community up. Mighty people are useful people, so what's to say to a city full of strong cultivator? One day, I'll rule the town. I'll need strong allied sect for everything to go smoothly."
She acts as a leader and perfect princess. That doesn't suit her - you feel she is foremost a Fighter at heart. A more social Dhundan. You keep that for your thought only.
"Your father sound very wise. You're lucky to benefit from such teachings.
- And I know a secret."
Her grin shows holding that secret is burning her lips.
"Do tell.
- It's a secret!
- You told too much, or not enough!
- Fine, fine. Father will invite the promising disciples of allied sects for a special thing soon. Be ready! I'm undergoing special fighting training for the occasion!"

That conclude your (insanely profitable) trip to Stable Lotus sect. The snake mistress seems quite happy on how things went on her side too - she grabed some (mundane) sliced fruits for the both of you to eat while walking slowly back to the sect's compound.

11 months and half have passed since you joined the Eastern Province branch of Tamers of Hundred Beasts.

Might also be nice to get an idea of how taboo it is to spread out beat bonding techniques. Since Peng Jun was really curious about having a spirit bonded to him and said that if we could manage it, he'd be very happy next time we met.

So if it's not a sect secret, and we can nab one, then I don't see a reason to resist. Strengthen the harbour and possibly profit from a different sect's resources ourselves.

>Work on your Spear Style
>Work on your leader role: Organize the other children to more efficiently wean the the sect's beasts. Managers get paid more because they increase the productivity of others more than the value of two sets of hands. This also trains our cultivators in teamwork and learning each other's strengths and weaknesses so they learn that they can rely on each other (or who you can't rely on).

Theory: If growth is the ability for weapons to grow in power to keep up with their wielders, and Hawk has this power as well, then perhaps it is possible for a cultivator to cultivate this power within themselves and soulbind to the sect geniuses to ride the coat tails of these geniuses into the higher cultivation levels. Alternatively, if it's mere physical growth rather than spiritual growth, then we probably don't care.

This pair of week was as busy as prolific.
You cultivate very diligently, both on your Foundation and your Spear Technique.
Of course, your cultivation benefited a lot from the Pills.
Not only they are perfectly adjusted to the energy you use, the embedded power is also tuned to your current level.
Basic pills are good, but now you have tasted custom-made pills, you are aware of the residual energy slowly accumulating in your Heart aperture.
You monitor this residual energy over the course of the next week, and see it breaking down and get absorbed slowly.
>Due to your luck meeting the medicine master, your Pill Consumption habit won't create problem for now

You are more successful working on your Spear Technic this week. You're quite confident you're now as proficient with the Spear as the Halberd.
The technique holds a full range of esoteric moves : you're certain there is a trove of hidden techniques inside. You're barely grazing at them today though.
>Consumed 1 Qi and Blood Pill [Spear][Wolf][Blood][Shadow]

You also work diligently on filling your Eye aperture. Your cultivation, suppemented by the tailored-made pills, is tremendously effective.
Your Eye aperture is now over 90% filled. You feel that Breakthrough is imminent.

>Consumed 2 Qi and Blood Pills [Hawk][Dance]
>Consumed 2 Qi and Blood Pills [Astral Self]
Working further on your Foundation might push you enough to break through. However, it is not guaranteed you will stabilize your new realm before the opportunity LienWen YanEr told you about : the highest the realm, the longer it takes to stabilize.

Of course, you talked about the upcoming opportunity to your friend group. One remark from Man Din strike through :
"A Special thing... You think it's, like, linked to Transplanhumance? We might need spiritual beads...
- Nah, she told you about fighting? It might be another tournament event?"

Of course, your cultivation effort are outside of the hours spent working on weaning the various beasts of the sect.
You could have ordered around your fellow disciples. This might have been more efficient. But you enjoy taking care of the beast, thus your personal and direct involvement.
While brushing a foal, you are reminiscent of the meeting of the physical forms of the animals now bounded to your soul.

It's been one year since you joined the Eastern Branch of Tamers of Hundred Beasts.

>Work on your Foundation

Over the course of the next couple week, you decide to push through and work on your foundation. You don't care about the risk of unstabilized realm - after all, you don't have a definite date.
Popping a couple of pills after the daily duties, you dance the wide ballet, and sit to push the energy gathered in your dual-sphere like Eye Aperture.
>Consumed 1 Qi and Blood Pills [Hawk][Dance]
>Consumed 1 Qi and Blood Pills [Astral Self]
The Qi and Blood threads flow in the aperture. Energy surges.
You feel your Qi, gathered in your Heart Aperture - your current stockpile of energy, radiating in all your body, carried by the blood in your veins - rise in temperature.
The stream of energy surges, colliding with the Aperture's narrow fulcrum, between the two spheres. The Qi and Blood threads in your Eye Aperture attack it from the inside, breaking the glass-like wall.
Both the stream of energy pierce, meet, merge.
Time seems to slow down.

You don't hesitate and push the door.
Your Astral Self fell from the sky, displaying an infinite landscape behind your feet.
The place is strange : during your fall, a ribon of mist slithers, turning into a sheet of clouds, gathering in a couple seconds in a mighty storm.
You land amidst the rain in a sand stretch. A few drops of water project sand grains. One land on the top of an other. This starts a converging motion, and you step away to avoid getting stuck on the growing sand pillar.
Your step spread sand. The spread turns into a crack, then a rift.
>Attuned to a Growth spirit : +10 to rolls
Moved by instinct, you sit down and meditate - not circulating any technique but focusing on the eerie energy, present in this place.
>Rolls result : 52 (questions and hindsight on Growth)
What is growth? What does it actually mean to grow?
On your side, an acorn fell on the rift's ground. A pine tree sprout. you step on a leaf, and let it carry you onward.
This tree is growing. But cutting it down in planks to build a house would be another form of growth?
The thought sound wrong. It will be a craft - embued with the elusive energy of growth as made of material from the Growth plane, but a craft nevertheless. A growing craft is definitely out of your reach for now, as you don't know craft to start with.
You step away from the leaf once it reached the rift's edge. You step on the desert, and feel the sand stretching under your feets, taking you away from the tree, the rift and the sand tower.
But here and there, in the middle of the Growth realm, can you grow your potential further?
>>
You could - if you were stucked by a Bottleneck. Luckily, no such thing can plague you for the next two years - you will easily smash through, growing out of the locked potential.
Upon meeting a bottleneck, you'll have one chance to overcome it. Else, you'll have to resort to a Lucky Encounter - such as this current realm walk - to smash through.
Amidst the sand desert, a single blade of grass trusted through the arid earth. Soon, the blade turns into a tuft; the tuft in a meadow.
With the landscape ever changing, in a motion that die only to give birth to something else, you're delving on the mystical insight : could you unlock memories of a previous life?
No, no you can't. You're a new soul bringed in the world; not a reincarnation. This is clear for you - although you don't understand deeply the meaning of all those words.
A bead of sweat fall on the ground. It swirls into a wet spot, then a puddle. You're concerned at the rising water, already reaching your knees, when you spot a geometrical, harsh thing piercing through the water.
You jump on the back of your Hawk Spirit, now as big as a veal, strong enough to carry you over the growing distance toward the white, translucent mound. You jump from the blazing bird. Salt crystal - grown from the salt of your sweat.
What about a growth fueled by the growth of other? This is the path you're charting for the future.
That... That could work. But in a strange roundabout, cyclic way.
>Boon : upon stuck on the bottleneck in the future, you have the Insight that "Fueling the growth of other" could fuel your own growth.
It might be time to get out of this place - staying on spot is stagnating. There is no stagnation in the realm of Growth. You're starting getting pretty confident on how the place work.
You puff your cheeks, and blow. The breath turns into breeze, and strengthen into a gust of wind. You jump from the salt growth, and let it carry you away from the lake.

Your first insight about Growth was it's an elusive element; unaligned to any techniques or spiritual arts and more bound to treasures.
You where slightly wrong. Things are different over here, in the realm of Growth itself. Of course there can exist Growth-enhanced techniques. It is just out of the grasp of anyone not directly visiting the Growth realm.
The wind pushes you gently, and you lend on a mountain. You disturb a few flintstones - two collide, emitting sparkles. The place will instantly become really dangerous.

Instinctively, you move away from danger using a knowledge you didn't knew you acquired.

You feel your body turn light. Lighter. You open your eyes in the main world, the familiar weight still in your hand.
You dragged something around the whole time, although with no memory whatsoever you picked it up. Bringing your gaze to your hand, you see it still clutched around...

We're not really spec'd for daggers-- and another rare Spiritual Beast will likely draw more unwanted attention to ourselves. Of our possible beasts, I think we'd only maybe want to replace our Horse-- and I suspect having a turtle as a mount would mean the loss of our current cavalier martial technique, as it would be too slow to be effective. Teapot it is.

A teapot of growth? That's some good tea!

You don't HAVE to merge with the beaded spiritual Beast. You can give it to the sect (or Ping Jun the Versatile Harmony Kindred Soul guy, or Xiao Niar the military youth guy that start a fight for a shrimp or Ster Ling the Archer. You do you.)

I want to wait for transhumance or use contribution to get a beast for ping. The turtle here is. . Far far too valuable, and the oppertunity cost, I'd have to be convinced.

Interesting that we didn't get a spiritual plant option from the realm of growth. Maybe we just aren't spec'ed into plants well enough?

The three option stemed from relevant roll. Didn't rolled plants on my table, although they're on the preset list

Where did you get that? And why, all of things, a Teapot?
It's light beige - sandstone probably. A few character are etched - one red, one blue, three black. You recognize the blue one - Eye - and the last Black one - Mouth.
You gently put it down, and focus on circulating your energy among your two apertures. It feels wrong - you see your Astral self with a blur, like something is missing.
Weird. You pick the teapot back, and things go back in order. You tie the teapot to the sash you use as a belt.

You also think back on how you moved away from the fire. The technic name echoes in your mind.
Unlimited Ground-contracting Kick.
A strong leg movement, resulting in a jump impossibly fast and long. For now, said impossibility is only perceptible by yourself - this is a split second shorter, a couple inch longer than a non-powered jump.

The next day, masters praise you for opening the Eye aperture. Your fabric-layered ball at your belt draw quite a few gazes, but your privacy is respected.
A personal win : you broke through before both Ai and Dhundan - both of which are further motivated in their study and work twice at hard, following in your wake in the next week while you still work on stabilizing your realm.

>Continue to learn how to read
The symbols painted on the teapot push your will to learn. Ryota have little time for you with the influx of new kids, and so do you with so much circulation dedicated to your stabilization, but you make it work, furthering your knowledge of characters.
You ask about some specific symbols. Ryota raise an eyebrow to the cloth-cover ball at your belt, but you're not sure you want to talk of it to him yet. You didn't even tried it yet : you don't have access to tea leaves yourself.
In the end, the characters mean, in order, "Heart, "Eye", "Nose", "Ear" and "Mouse".
"So, those are the Five Aperture. You opened your Heart Aperture first, and recently the Eye Aperture. Once your realm is stabilized, I'll show you how to fill the Nose Aperture.
It is said that without help, it would take a normal cultivator 2 year to open it. Sect members got help; children does not learn exactly as fast as an adult Loose Cultivator.
"
>>
>Catch up with Kyo Ko
Amidst all of that, you still take time to talk with Elder Sister Kyo Ko.
"Hello Quiet Word - that's how you're getting yourself called, right? I see you open your Eye Aperture - little brother is growing so much.
By the way, did you get an innate skill?
"
You're not sure your unique trip in the realm of Growth and its unexpected windfall count as much.
"Innate Skill?
- Looks like you didn't. Upon opening an aperture, some cultivators master some skills such as Farsight, allowing to see very far away, Expert sight - seemingly slowing time while analyzing with sight, and much more.
There are also innate skills linked to other Apertures.

- Do you have such skills?
- It's rude to ask that!"
She winks. She's always been very secretive with her skills - even more than Dhundan. You're pretty sure it's why she doesn't outwardly fight in Lotus Harbor or Sect tournaments.
She's a good friend of yours, and have no clue about her bounded beasts and techniques.
"Anyway, you can learn weaker them - at the cost of rigorous effort. If you're interested, ask Bathias - I think he has one that could suit you."

Alright folks that's it for this thread.
It's archived, and I won't start next one before Friday.

Question time!
>What did you like in this thread?
>What did you dislike?
>What can I improve?
>Who is Best Girl?
>What do you want to see in the future?
>Are choices meaningful?
>Do you still feel like a "Normal Cultivator"?
For me you are definitely gifted and low-genius tier with the various forfuitous encounters. However I won't give you freebies and leniancy.
>>
>>5965216
>likes: progress, meeting people we have relations with. Its genuinely fun to see our connections and look forward to how they mature.

>Dislike: nothing much, I'll be honest. Its a profitable thread and no retarded moves on your part. Like a certain other QM and their off center legalist bullshit.

>Best Girl: kyo kyo
Eldest sister is best sister. (Spoiler/)And snake mistress is forbidden temptation.(Spoiler).

>Are choices meaningful? Yup.
Each choice we make has its upsides and downs. Their benefits and disadvantages are less obvious when dice are involved, since dice can make a moron solve alegebra or a genius stumble over BIDMAS. But such is the price of randomness.

>Do we still feel normal?
Yeah, honestly. I am comparing you to Huanliexue, and that ring grandpa thing from months ago. Quiet word is just a disciple who is swimming with all his might to keep his head above the water. His progress and encounters are hard won and definitively not ordained. We only feel a low tier genius because are in the lowest ranks of a sect, and when we undergo a bunch of hardships (or inevitably suffer a mental break from the stress), we will start feeling like a worthless waste of shit.
Which honestly good on you man. Real ludonarritive synchronisation
>>
>>5965216
>What did you like in this thread?
Ryota interactions
>What did you dislike?
Some very long breaks between updates
>What can I improve?
Maybe a better expression of mental state? Doesn't feel too impactful when we're not doing so hot outside the descriptions
>Who is Best Girl?
OP they're kids
>What do you want to see in the future?
More with Ai - she's gotten a lot less screentime than Dhundan it feels
>Are choices meaningful?
Can't remember any that felt pointless off the top of my head so I'll say yes
>Do you still feel like a "Normal Cultivator"?
Not since we got the Primordial Wolf, that's not something in reach of your average cultivator
>>
>>5965216
>Do you still feel like a "Normal Cultivator"?
I mean I just been lurking this entire quest but from what I read yeah the protag still feels pretty normal if a bit absurdly lucky when it matters. I'm still expecting the dice to turn on everyone at a inopportune time leading to the protag crashing and burning like a bright middle schooler who lacks a work ethic deciding to take algebra 4 years early.
>>
>>5966029
>Breaks
Did my best, but the second quest, the lack of inspiration and the dreaded Personal Life (work, becoming landed gentry, martial art classes to teach and to attend) are taking their tolls.
Sorry for that

>Mental State
You were really close to suffer dire consequences 3 times but took the best actions or were correctly supported by the sect with the amount of favor you had at the time.

>Normalness and Scion of Primordial Wolf
This is actually your worst spirit right now : useless (grants almost no bonus), puts you at risk.

Not much more to answer, feel free to ask questions too
>>
>>5965216
You run another quest?
>>
>>5966940
The 40k Xenos Quest redux (thread 4).
Started like namesake, reached a skirmish stadium with tribes each led by one player.
In the past ran Dragon's Dungeon, an oldhammer-meet-dnd universe where you play Sidridjika, a Crystal Dragon, and it's struggles to create a multicultural town including human, dwarves, greenskins, elves, halfelins, dragons, lizardmen, and one tomb king.
Really, despite having 2 and a half players in that one, it will come back sooner or later (alright, admittedly later).
I also ran the South Kalos Pokequest because of the concerning lack of Pokequest - I'll get also this one back running at some point
>>
>>5966858
I think it's only useless because we are not using it.

Turn it around and change it's form. Can probably do that, once we're alone a bit
