Previously on Alola Quest, Amon G. Sus, trainer extraordinaire, and homeless boy gifted with a 60 day all expenses paid vacation, found himself in a mock Totem Battle against Totem Ribombee! It's Blissey Partner hit the field. Can your Croagunk defeat such an impossible foe?
Croagunk managed to make more of a glancing blow to Blissey but it still hurt. The two back off away from Croagunk and give Croagunk another opportunity to strike. If he's quick.

>Blissey 12/15 hp
>Ribombee 16/20 hp

>What next?
>>
Rolled 43 (1d100)

>>6171943
Lets continue blasting it with Poison stings and occaisionally attacking the Blissey if we start getting low on energy. its got more than enough for us.
>>

+1

We could try astonish next turn to flinch both pokemon and use mud slap on ribom's wings to ground her. Those thin wings look like a pain to clean and gives us options later.
>>
>>6171943
Our pokemon

Foongus: Timid and cowardly, you met him at age 7 when foraging for food. You thought he was a Pokeball due to hunger and he ended up crying due to being afraid. You gave him a last morsel of food to calm him down and he followed you into the city. Now your bros for life. He's more brave during battles as long as its not TOO rough.
Ability: Effect Spore, Mega Drain, Stun Spore, Sweet Scent, Clear Smog

Castform:
Was met a few months after Foongus. Some faggot with green hair saw you looking for shelter in the rain and offered you Castform to turn the days sunny after "hearing the voice of your Foongus...you meet weirdos amongst the homeless. It worked too! He gave you your original 6 Pokeballs too as means of apology for not being able to do more. You never saw him again. Castform is chipper and sunny! Which is odd given how much he feels like a bag full of water. He always tries to cheer you up! He is pretty bad at battles compared to the rest of your team. He lacks the "killer instincts" but he's loyal!
Ability: Forecast, Weather Ball, Sunny Day...that's about it.

Croagunk:
A spacey chill Pokemon you met him during training Castform and Foongus. You tried to battle him but he kind of just...laid on his back. You tried catching him and it worked. Then when a wild Purrlion tried to steal the berries you scrounged up he Low Kicked the fuck out of it and sent it running for the hills. He seems...odd. Very much at his own tempo and logic. You haven't exactly figured it out yet but he's still a loyal companion.
Ability: Poison Touch, Poison Sting, Drain Punch, Astonish, Mud Slap

Sigilyph:
Flew into town after a particularly bad storm hit through the desert region. Which happens from time to time. You rescued him from being stuck in a tree and he joined you in gratitude. He's the most protective and on guard of your Pokemon. His Whirlwind attack has kept wild pokemon at bay and Hypnosis has kept would be scroungers from taking your shit.
Ability: Wonder Skin, Hypnosis, Whirlwind, Gust, Confusion

Marill:
A sweetheart Pokemon who loves to fuss over you being clean. Was met as an Azurill who smelled Foongus' Sweet Scent and tried to suck on its head only to find a lack of nectar. You tried to fight it but oddly Foongus' grass type attacks did nothing. Clear Smog however knocked her out in one shot. She was a bit slow to befriend but she came around once you shared a soda you found. Has a huge sweet tooth and uses Water Gun to keep you clean. Unfortunately Water Gun doesn't make for good drinking water. She fusses over you appearance too making sure your clothes don't look TOO scraggly even though your wearing donated clothing. Evolved one day after successfully knocking out a wild pokemon.
Ability: Sap Sipper, Water Gun, Helping Hand, Bounce, Charm
>>
>>6172031
Darmanitan
You caught him after defeating it with Azurill. Its a trickster and loves to play pranks. Very easygoing trusting in its luck and not really...really thinking things through. When the going gets rough though he can't be intimidated and doesn't flinch!

Evolved during the first Battle Royale Amon entered!
Ability: Inner Focus, Incinerate, Psychic, Work Up, Headbutt

Spaghetti levels 3? is this correct QM?

Since this is like our first hundred in months I'll let you guys swap a move with something else mid battle like in the anime. What would you like?
>>
>>6173744
so like a new move we get to replace?

If so then i think swapping poison sting for Sludge Bomb? I would probably prefer Poison jab but Sludge Bomb would make more thematic sense.

>>6172782
what do you think?
>>
>>6173768
Yeah sludge bomb sounds good to have another range option.
>>
>>6173870
so instead of Poison sting? or Astonish

i dont wanna give up Mudslap. its such good utility.

>>6174160
Get rid of poison sting as we got the poison bomb to replace it.

Astonish as we just saw has utility and combo ability while sting is not varied.

"Use Astonish!" Croagunk shoots out his scary face. "Mud Slap! Aim for the wings!" Croagunk conjures up some mud from his arms and slaps the wings of Ribombee causing her to fall. "Now Poison Sting!" Croagunk shoots out a blob of sludge that bursts upon impact with Ribombee. "Hey that's Sludge Bomb..." Mina notes. Suddenly Ribombee lunges at Croagunk with surprising force!

Ribombee lands a kiss on Croagunk's head and it begins to glow. Croagunk cries out in pain as Ribombee glows with energy. "Oh that's Draining Kiss. Ribombee can use it to restore her health."

>Ribombee regains 2 health points.

>Croagunk is at 7/10 now
>Ribombee is at 18/20

May I recommend taking on the Ally Pokemon first by the way? You have a perfectly good fighting type doing nothing here against the Normal type...

Serious question. I want all the regular players to answer this. Should we get rid of rolls and just make all the battles dramatic? This is taking a while. YES I know I can't always update regularly, a combination of factors causes this and frankly it would be a fucking headache explaining why, but even then having to track this stuff feels less animeish then I intended. I don't mind keeping up character sheets and spaghetti points but rolls are ticking me off. Thing is, they DO serve a purpose in keeping the combat somewhat grounded but I genuinely can't tell anymore if they are worth it. What do you all think?
>>
>>6183443
Maybe do three rounds for a fight and add a plan and roll. But yeah might as well go dramatic since we been on this fight for like month.
>>
>>6183443
Having a general outline for a battle would be helpful. make a Flowchart for different roll outcomes. three rounds sound fine. Maybe two rounds per pokemon in case things need more time.

FOr a three point battle: Three very good rolls lead to some Spaghetti Points.
Two successes, one loss still a victiry though close
One Success two failures lead to maybe more Spaghetti Points

But we can go for a bit more Drama. with an expanded moveset(better moves in general) we can also be more creative with our plans.
>>
>>6183604
>>6183460
>>6183443

3 rounds system more focused on Drama would be nice. Some battles are scripted wins or losses though.

Croagunk leaps into the air and lauches itself at Blissey with Drain Punch. The Egg Bomb is hit with Bug Buzz and creates enough smoke that it blocks vision for a minute. When the smoke clears Croagunk is beating Blissey with a Drain Punch barrage going all out. Eventually Blissey faints. And although his health is back up Croagunk looks exhausted from the sheer effort put in. Suddenly a cry comes out and a Pelipper flys in towards Ribombee's side. You pull out your Pokedex. "Pelipper: The Water Bird Pokemon. Water and Flying type. It is a flying transporter that carries small Pokémon in its beak. It bobs on the waves to rest its wings. Some communities use Pelipper as a delivery service to deliver mail and small parcels." Blissey gets itself out of the way as Pelipper cries out. Suddenly it begins to rain... "Watch out. Pelipper is really tough too." Mina warns.

"Croagunk use Sludge Bomb on Ribombee!" Croagunk leaps up and shoots out a Sludge Bomb at Ribombee but Ribombee dodges out of the way. Ribombee suddenly gets inside Pelipper's maw as Pelipper begins to flap it's wings. "What the...?" You get confused. "Hey get ready to dodge Croagunk!" You call out. Pelipper suddenly sends out a tornado of energy slashes at Croagunk. "Oh wow. It's Hurricane. Pelipper's Drizzle Ability makes it rain and then Hurricane gets a massive boost it accuracy you know?" Mina says as Croagunk is buffeted by the slashes. The vortex is massive and Croagunk is heavily damaged. Croagunk pants. It took a lot of damage there...

Shitm okay... pulling out is probably best. Wouldnt want out buddy to get hurt too bad.

We already used Sigyliph i thing. So its up to foongus with Clear Smog to try and smoke Ribombee out of that Pellipers mouth and give the bird a bad ache with Stunspore. Maybe affecting both of the opponents due to the strong winds.

i was thinking about using it when it tries to create the cyclone pulling the stuff in and throwing into its own face using a slingshot maneuver. Otherwise... we have a firepokemon. we have a water pokemon that does not like to fight. and we dont have electric attacks that would be best here.

"Croagunk return!" He holds up his pokeball and returns Croagunk. "Now then...what else...uh...this isn't looking good. Go Foongus!" You send out Foongus. Foongus tries to look determined. "Just do your best!"

>What the plan to absolutely sure? I kind of have writers block on Foongus vs Ribombee and Pelipper desu...
>>
Rolled 4 (1d100)

>>6193627
i am sure about the plan. try to hit em when they are pulling in the air to turn into that tornado. use it to slingshot a huge cloud of spores right into their faces. before following up with Clear fog.

i assume they will take at most two hits to defeat our good fungal boi but we might be able to inflict some more damage before it defeats us. best case for that is getting a debilitating status effect of.

so lets hope and pray to arceus?

"Use as much Stun Spore as you can! As much Stun Spore as possible! Go all out!" Amon says. Foongus shoots a massive amount of spores but the cloud is being rained out. If it isn't utilized soon it won't even matter. Pelipper flies away upwards. It aims right above Foongus. "Foongus return!" You return Foongus. "Go Darmanitan Psychic and pull Pelipper down into the cloud!" You send out Darmanitan who wastes no time. He glows purple and raises a hand into the air and Pelipper looks surprised as Darmanitan manages to pull it into the spores. "Now crush it!" Darmanitan puts the squeeze on Pelipper...

Pelipper suddenly glows green and seems to be healed faster then Darmanitan looks surprised. "What's going on?" Mina nods thoughtfully. "Oh dear. Ribombee is using Pollen Puff from inside Pelipper." Amon pulls out his Pokedex. "Pollen Puff, a Bug Type move. A puff of explosive pollen is sent out by the Pokemon. Either a healing or offensive Pollen Puff can be sent out..." Amon grits his teeth. "We have to inflict enough damage to outperform a healing attack?"

>What next? Also Pelipper is Paralyzed.
>>

Amon clenched his fist as Pelipper soared overhead, unharmed thanks to the Ribombee hidden in its beak, healing it mid-battle. They needed to force Ribombee out—he had an idea. "Darmanitan return! Go Foongus, cover Pelipper in Clear Smog!"

Foongus released a thick, white haze, engulfing Pelipper in a choking cloud. The seabird thrashed, its wings beating erratically as the fumes seeped into its beak. With a distressed squawk, it finally gagged, spitting Ribombee out into the open. Amon’s eyes gleamed. "Now—Stun Spore on Ribombee!" Foongus sent out another wave of spores that quickly enveloped Ribombee.
