    1.3 MB ZEONQUEST Christmas Special I apologized on 4chan 12/26/09(Sat)08:41 No.7293065
It is January fourth, Universal Century 0079. It has been over seventy years since mankind began moving it's burgeoning population into space.

In response to growing oppression from the Earth Federation the Principality of Zeon just launched a blitzkrieg campaign to reclaim the independance of the space colonies orbiting the earth.

After four days of intense open warfare, which saw indiscriminate use of neuclear and biological weapons, Zeon have managed to reclaim large amounts of of the space colonies from the Federations grip, despite being outnumbered 30 to 1.

You are Corporal Wolfgang Strauss Zoenic Mobile Suit pilot.

You are currently piloting a MS-06C Zaku II.

You have 3 Cruiser kills and 1 Battleship Kill assist.

You are currently part of the Space Attack Force MS Battalion under command of Admiral Dozle Zabi.

You are currently in the Musai class cruiser Neoptolemos in orbit over the Lunar city of Grenada.

A mission briefing has been called in half an hour.

Is there anything you wish to do before then?

You and the rest of your squad are shuffled into the Musai's briefing room.

"Gentlemen please be seated." speaks the briefing officer.

"First of all, the Principality of Zeon thanks you for your tireless efforts in the face of staunch resistance. It is down to your efforts that Operation Anchor is considered a success."

"However, despite our great advances, our holdings are tenuous. The Federation still vastly outnumber us, and High Command has come up with a plan to end the war quickly and favouribly within 6 days. They are calling this: Operation British."

He then goes on to outline the audiacious plan.

Operation British involved forcing a large space colony out of its orbit and making it fall on Earth. The target of the Colony would be Jaburo - Venzuala, the Federation HQ.

Having already proven their worth as a field-engineering platform, Multiple Zaku companies would be assigned to attatch Nuclear Pulse Thrusters to the colony, and then escort it to the drop zone.

Your squad and Musai would also be similarily assisted by the Cruisers, Achilleus, Hyloss and Duckbill.
The colony is from the lunar orbiting sides, and as a result will be shielded from enemy optical sensors by the moon for the early part of this operation.

You are all quickly dismissed and you move to meet back up with your squad.

Both. The advantages of using a mobile suit for this work is that after (about one or two squads) the Zaku's are done attatching the thrusters they can then rearm and escort the Colony in.

Extra reinforcements will no doubt be assigned once you clear the moon and the Fed see what you're doing.

You and one other squad decide to make quick work of attatching the Nuclear Pulse rockets to the colony whilst the other two squads cover you.

Just as you finish attatching your boosters, you see a flare of light from the rough direction of the second squad.

You hear a cry from the Escort squad over the radio (you weren't operating in a minovsky field so as to aid the engineering effort.)
"It the enemy! An enemy light Recon force! It looks like one wing of Light Space Fighters and a single Salamis! We are moving to engage!"

You Zip down to the colony surface. Narrowly missing a second pair of missiles sent your way.
You scan the area for your attackers, your IR sensors pick up a pair of heat blooms coming your way.
Looks like a pair of FF7 Light Fighters.
You swing up your 120mm and fire at them. The heavy shells make quick work of them and you proceed to leapfrog towards the second site.

You reach a scene of devestation. You can see the scorched at broken remnants of the Zaku squad. You've seen this before, it looks like the squad didn't catch the incoming Nuke in time although they shot it down, they still caught enough of the blast.

Luckily the Nuclear Pulse Engine appears not have been destroyed. Though it needs some repair work. With your limited engineering experience you could probably manage it in about five minutes.

Above you he see flashes of light as your forces clash with the recon team. There are streaks of purple as the Salamis begins to fire with it's Beam Cannons.
Mostly defensively, in order to try and prevent the Zaku's from getting a good fire lane with their nukes.

You pick up your guns and descend into the fray. You decide to concentrate on the fighters first and the the Cruiser.
You dodge past the Salami's slow moving Beam fire as you struggle to take them down without exposing yourself.

After three minutes you manage to clip one, leaving it to careen into open space, you are then rejoined by Khenni.
    "Where's Ricky?"
    "He didn't make it!"
    "Damn."

"We've got to take that Cruiser out! You still Nuclear?" Sargeant Khenni asks.

    "Sir!"

"Good! I'll draw it's fire, you take the shot!"

He then dashes away, towards the ship, his fire largely bounces off the ships heavy armour, but it's enough to draw some of it's fire, you follow him in a little before setting up your Nuclear Bazooka.

You quickly type in the unlock codes for the warhead and the weapon blinks green.

"I have the shot Sergeant! Pull out!" You call.

    "Roger thaARGH!"
A beam clips the zaku, taking out his left leg, the Mobile spins towards the ship, taking some extra damage as it goes and then collides with the vessel.

All of the guns on the vessel begin to rotate to face him as he grabs his way up, his Heat Hawk in hand.

    "Strauss! Take the shot!"

    "But sir!"

It basically forbids the use of certain weapons of mass destructon, including Nukes (but not nuclear power sources) Bio/Tox warfare and colony drops.

You switch out your old C type for a new F type. You take a 240mm Bazooka whilst your wingmen have 120mm MG's.

You are in patrol around the Colony Bomb. I about an hour, it will past beyond the cover of the moon, and if they didn't know about it before, the feds will surely spot it then.

After that, they're going to throw everything they can at you.

You tell the rookies to conceal their approach by playing gentle on their thrusters and relying on the AMBAC programmes to keep yourselves on course. You then set up the ambush with them.

With a bit of luck they might actually get it right.

The attacking force is coming from the direction of the Luna 2 military base. You don't have too much time before they will probably be launching fighters, so you train your Bazooka on the Magellan's bridge.

There is a rapid flash of machine gun fire as your rookies break cover and fire early, their fire strafes the deck of the two cruisers, catching most of the fighters and obscuring the two cruisers from sight.

You say some choice words about overeager idiots and fire off your shot. The rocket flies true and impacts against the ships bridge. A tremenbdous plume of fire extends out of the back as your explosive shell explodes clean through.

The Magellelan fires erratically outwards with its guns, but the fire is uncoordinated and sporadic.

The Cruisers on the other hand, start firing back at their opponents with a bit more accuracy as they swoop through the smoke.

You see one of your wingmen lose an arm, you order him to retreat back whilst you two deal with the Cruisers.

Your wing man dashes in front of you, risks enemy fire a little longer than he should and then darts off, a cruisers turret's tracking to catch him in a crossfire.

You begin shooting whilst travelling at high speed. Your first shot takes out the main gun, you second takes out a second beam cannon. You then nearly overshoot your target but manage to flip yourself up and shoot at the bridge. The flak that was pepperring your suit becomes more disorganzied.

    YOUR BAZOOKA IS NOW EMPTY.

You pull out your heat hawk and give a contemptous slash to the Salamis's engine block. It explodes behind you as you race up to support your wingman, who is getting boxed in by the second cruiser.

You take cover behind a wrecked engine block for a few seconds whilst you reload.
You return to the fray just in time to see your other wingman get cornered by the Salami's fore and aft beam cannons and take a missile to the face.
He should have thought laterally, and escaped up or down...

Using the wounded Magellan for cover (which is still firing wildly and ineffectively) for a few moments, you pop up and fire a pair of shots into the engine and bridge of the Salamis whilst coming at it from above. The entire vessel brews up in a large explosion and you send another couple of shots into the more heavily armoured Magellan, which sinks that.

    KILLS: 2 Cruisers, 1 Battleship

Since it is currently quiet you decide to return to the Neoptolemy to rearm and repair, along with your remaining wingman.

It is the 6th of January. The main bulk of the enemy fleet has begun to attack. Luckily yet more reinforcements have arrived.

So far the battle appears to be going your way, you still have the technology advantage, and the heavy minovsky particle density is making it difficult for the enemy to coordinate itself.

    However you are vastly outnumbered.

You spend the day with a new wingman in your squad, defending your mothership from enemy fighter attacks, and making strikes against clustered ship formations.

Around 8pm there is a lull in the fighting you all take the oppourtunity to take some chow and rest before the attacks begin again.

You check the Magellan and find a good angle of attack that's lost most of it's AA turrets and then prime, unlock and activate the nuke.

Once gain the High Velocity Munition streaks towards the target, Phalanx gear struggles to target it between all the other bullets and missile flying in it's direction and though it manages to clip it right at the death, it's far to close by that point.

In space with no atmosphere available for the bomb to compress nukes are actually way less dangerous. If one went off 100m off the surface of a ship only a very spall percentage of the bombs energy will be transmitted to the target. Optimally you want the weapon to go off on impact or inside an enemy ship where the energy isnt just radiated off into space.

You quickly arrive on scene, the Chivvay is in a bad way, but still fighting.
Against it are about 8 FF7 Light Fighters and three Saberfish.
Surrounding the scene are the broken burning wrecks of a pair of Salamis Cruisers.

Time is of the essence, you will have to destroy or at least engage the enemy sufficiently to allow the Chivvay Heavy Cruiser "Digitalius" to make it's retreat to the inner zone for repairs, before it is destroyed, or enemy reinforcements arrive.

You zip past the ruins of a salamis cruiser, you grasp on and hide whilst the fighters rush past, you then set off after the Heavy Cruiser.

You take off at high speed, the new model is pretty damn impressive.
You carefully snipe on of the light fighters as you come in hard and fast and plant yourself on the hull of the Digitalus.

You begin firing bursts of your 120mm at the other two fighters. Stomping across the Chivvays surface using it for cover. You take out one and then clip another.

The FF7 careens erratically and loops back in towards you at the last second.

"Shit!" You exclaim as you only manage to half dodge the plane as it rams into you and the Chivvay.

I'd invite you in, but we've got no MS bay for you, plus I wouldn't want to risk you breaching your structural integrity. That last hit badly damaged your suit, I can see rents almost to the cockpit on it. We've nearly reached the internal zone. Hopefully we can get you transferred to a pressure dock, and we can get to a repair ship!"

You decide that since your suit is in such a bad shape, and that your own flight suit has several tears and breaches from flying glass and sparks, that you can't help your squadmates any further, and you take the Digitalus back to the inside zone.

Once you returned to the rear. It took the techs three whole hours to set up a pressure chamber so you could leave the cockpit.

After doing so you had to be bandaged up. Several pieces of glass from your pilot's helmet had lodged themselves dangerously close to your eyes, and the surgery took your out of the fight for two days.
You were also blind for those two days.

Let me just say that being blind on a ship in the middle of a warzone is not fun at all.

As for your wingmen, luckily enough, both returned with a proud list of kills for their name. Another pair of cruisers had blundered into the debris field after they had finished off the fighters and they'd managed to bag a Capital Ship kill apiece.
Hopefully this is the start of great military career for the newly minted Ensigns N. Packard and N. Schwarzen.

As for you, the first thing you saw, on January 10th was the colony drop.

Operation British was a huge gamble for the Zeon forces. The casualties sustained by the large fleet it assembled to escort the colony amounted to a far greater quantity of material resources and talented personnel than anticipated. The positioning of the escort fleets didn't allow them to leave the perimeter of the colony, so they became simply targets for a two-front attack from Earth and the Federation fleet. Operation British proved to be a brutal struggle for both sides.
    >> I apologized on 4chan 12/26/09(Sat)18:58 No.7297449

    593 KB
The objective of the reckless Operation British was the destruction of Jaburo, the greatest stronghold of the Federation Forces. This was because the Jaburo base facilities, constructed beneath solid bedrock, couldn't be destroyed even by megaton-class bombs.

The loss of the Federation Forces' final refuge, and the physical and psychological aftereffects, would enable the Zeon forces to quickly bring the war to a victorious conclusion.

As the colony approached Earth, the Federation Forces halted their attacks. At this point, even if they destroyed the colony, fragments would fall across Earth's entire surface and the damage zone would be expanded. Both sides were now convinced that the success of the operation was assured.

However, an unexpected event occurred. Although the colony had been reinforced for the operation, it had been weakened by the fighting during its four-day journey to Earth. After entering the atmosphere at a speed of about 11 kilometers per second, the nearly ten-billion-ton colony collapsed over Arabia.

The colony's front section, which retained its original shape, impacted directly on Sydney, Australia and pierced the ten-kilometer-thick crust. As a result, it triggered the activity of the Pacific Rim volcanic belt and completely reshaped the eastern Australian continent.

The remaining fragments crossed the Pacific Ocean and fell across the northern hemisphere, chiefly on North America, and inflicted widespread casualties on civilians and Federation Forces soldiers alike.
    >> I apologized on 4chan 12/26/09(Sat)18:59 No.7297459
Moreover, the shockwaves produced during the colony's passage through the atmosphere and at the moment of impact led to storms and tsunamis which raged across the whole world. These continued for more than a week, and resulted in the destruction of the Federation Forces' naval fleets.

The total energy released due to the colony drop was equal to 60,000 megatons of TNT (3 million times that of the Hiroshima explosion).

About one third of the Australian continent and one quarter of the North American continent were annihilated.

More than 320 million people were killed, injured, or missing as a result of the first wave of damage.

Climate changes and other secondary damage led to more than 2 billion killed, injured, and missing (estimated).

Earth's rotation speed was accelerated by 1.2 seconds for every hour.
