    Okay, let's get started.

You are Commander David Lister, ace mobile suit pilot for the Principality of Zeon. Leader of the elite Nachtmaren Unit you answer only to Lord Captain Garma Zabi, and have been kicking all kinds of ass for the last 7 months.

You have just rescued Zeon's de facto leader, Lord Degwin Zabi from where he was being held incommunicado on the moon by his son Gihren Zabi.

Under the pretense that Degwin was confined due to poor health, Gihren was able to snatch the reins of power and effectively became the Commander in Chief for the entire Zeonic nation.
Garma, not entirely sure that everything was kosher, sent both you and Ramba Ral out to investigate.
    You discovered several things:
    1) Gihren assassinated the nations founder Zeon Sum Deikum in order to found the Zabi Dynasty
    2) Gihren has his father confined to the neutral moon city of Von Braun
    3) You're parents are awesome.

After springing Degwin from his old apartment on the moon, you and the rest of your team managed to escape via a moonwalk, and although things got dicey when the Gwadan, Gihren's Flagship appeared on the scene you were able to force a stand-off long enough for Ramba Ral to arrive along with Kycillia Zabi and her Granada Fleet.

This brings us up to date.

Laser communications are pretty hard to intercept, a secondary cypher code wont hurt either.
You can easily make a secure comm line with Ramba Ral. You ask him about the best and quickest way to report back to Garma and Dozle.

"It'll be difficult, the conventional channels are surely watched by Gihren's agents, and I don't think Kycillia is going to let one of us move off without a damn good explaination, and even then it'll look suspicious. If you think of anything I'm all ears."

So, general gist is to follow Kycillia back to Grenada, but not to give her Degwin at this point.

As for the ground EVA team, you haven't retreived them but they don't have laser-com gear so communications would have to be radio.

Do keep in mind that they said they could make it to Grenada by foot and would be doing so anyway if they didn't hear anything from you.

Oxygen's probably too tight for that. But they might be able to infiltrate into an area with an atmosphere and swap suits over. Might cause a bit of an incident if it turns out there's no need for them though. In anycase it'll take them about 12 hours for them to do it. You'll probably HAVE to once you reach Grenada anyway, you can have your own doctors and men around 24/7 though.

Anyway, you head onwards to Grenada fortress, Kycillia's primary base of operations and also where you originally trained for MS operations.

Of course back in your day they trained MS maneouvability by putting you in front of a mass driver and hurling meteors at you.
And by "back in the day", I mean about 11 months ago.

On the way you drop the ressuply pod with O2 packs, an Oxygen tent and other supplies. As well as a message to PLEASE not cause an incident unless asked for.

You arrive at Grenada 4 hours later.

As you arrive you wheel Degwin out on a Stretcher, Kycillia's doctors meet with yours as well as several more guards. This small crowd then heads towards the infirmiry floor.

Ramba Ral walks up to you and salutes. You salute back.
"You're timing could not have been tighter, but I'm not complaining." You tell him.

"We had some issue with convincing Kycillia to believe us, I basically had to prove that Gihren had killed Zeon first."

    "So she didn't know?"

"If she did, she's hiding it well. I'm still not 100% convinced, Kycillia is at least as good a politician as Gihren."

"Is Degwin in any danger here in your estimation?"

"She wouldn't dare. That would be EXACTLY what Gihren wants."

"What if she blames it on us?"

"To what end? You're well know as being Garma's men, that basically makes you politically neutral in all of this."

Keep Degwin safe with the nachtmaren, unless Degwin tells us not to do so (Degwin's authority overrides even Garma's, right?).
Tell Kycillia that Garma was concerned for Degwin's health, so Garma sent us up here to check on him. When we got here, Ghiren impounded our spaceship for some reason. A little investigating by us and Ramba Ral revealed that Ghiren had kidnapped Lord Degwin.
So, being loyal servants of Zeon, we busted Lord Degwin's ass the fuck out.

Tell her that Ghiren's being a powergrabby turdmongler.
Garma sent us moonside to check up on his father's health, and introduce his girlfriend to his father.
When we got here, Ghiren impounded our ship, and Degwin wasn't in his usual hospital. This was a bit suspicious, so Ramba Ral and we did some investigating.
It turns out that Ghiren used poison to assassinate Deikum, and was holding Degwin hostage.
We figured Degwin was in danger - and, being loyal to Zeon, we mounted a rescue mission of our own initiative.
When we found Degwin, he was heavily sedated, and the doctor staying with him had prepared a lethal injection. We busted Degwin out of the airlock, and that's when you arrived.

tl;dr: Garma sends us to check on dad. Ghiren is being a douchebag and kidnaps dad. We rescue dad.

Unless Gihren were to be assassinated, we (David) don't think he'll back down, and will escalate into open warfare. Subtly discuss the possibility of someone taking him out quietly. Gloss over it. Move on quickly if it's seen as extreme. Talk about the war in general with him. Say how we've seen enough for our liking and will be glad when we can sit down and relax. Retire to private life.

Check out Grenada weapons/MS. See if there are any better sidearms we could invest in for when we're out of suit. Small details, but good to know. We've been in space for a few days. Get details on how things are on Earth. Try to get into contact with Garma.

    >What's up Arty?

Not much, Didnt design any new MS or MA equipment this week for a change. That does remind me of some old stuff I forgot to bring up awhile back.

Instant recon package: It's a set of optics packaged in a discarding sabot that is fired from large caliber artillery. (IRL I intended it for 155mm but 300mm works too.) After launch the device deploys a drag chute close to the peak of it's ballistic arc. The attacked recon backage takes pictures and broadcasts them to the launcher. In ZQ that'd be via laser com.

With a 300mm device it might be possible to include a helium tank and weather baloon to keep the device aloft longer and provide streaming recon data for a few seconds before it's shot down or wind pushes it out of the combat zone. It's not really practical by todays standards were you could just get spysat uplinks (not that they'd give that to frontline troops) but it could potentially work well in a minovsky environment.

Aw! I always look forward to your designs, weird though they may sometimes be.

Not a terrible idea, but if we're dealing with Feds, chances are they'll use their air-superiority to blow it out of the sky. However, chances are we could get some good pictures and whatnot before that happens. The only real issue is cost/expense/etc. I'd rather Zaku's have sensor systems than have this little piece of equipment, if that makes sense.

Introducing Icelina to Degwin is probably something you shouldn't gauge until he wakes up, detirmine what the situation is afterwards and then make the call.
As for introducing her to Kycillia, that might be risky, she's an earthnoid, and it could be a bit of political bombshell.

You talk to Ramba Ral about where it would go from here.

"Gihren won't back down, but he's a pragmatist, if he can see a way out of this he'll take it. If he can hold onto the reigns of power he'll do it."

"Could it end up in a civil war?" You ask.

"I don't know, Gihren's nobodies fool, he knows that our odds of being able to win this war are low enough as is with the Feds now having Mobile Suits, Gundamnium and all the rest, plus their vast resource disparity. However, I don't think I've ever met a man as power hungry as Gihren. He may just do the unthinkable."

"What sort of options are available to us if he does seem to go down that road?"

"I wouldn't bet against Gihren in seeing through any kind of assination plot, he's the man with all the prior experience after all. But aside from that, you're only other option is a military strike, possibly into the heart of Side 3."

we might want to think about Garma. We have no idea what's been happening on earth, and we should probably let Garma know that his father is ok.

In fact, could we could try to set up some sort of communication between Garma and Papa Zeon?
My thinking is that if Garma can see his father, and talk about how he sent us to save the day, Papa Zeon might not blow as big of a gasket when we introduce Icelina to him.

Or, you know, we could always suit up and follow Kycilia for the glory of Zeon and all that

Okay, you enquire if Degwin is well enough to see visitors, as you have several letters of correspondance from Dozle and Garma.
You also send a message back to the Outer Heaven for Icelina to put on her best glad-rags.

You are allowed entry and meet the old duffer.
He still looks like a human prune but he's concious at least.

"I hear that it's thanks to you that I was carried to safety, you have my thanks Commander."

"Well, it's all part of the job. Garma had his suspicions you see."

"Ah yes, he was there when I had my last physical wasn't he? Yes, he probably would have suspected foul play given how well I passed those. I must commend you and Ramba's dogged persistance, who knows how long the situation would have lasted if you hadn't followed the evidence."

"Ah thank you. I have some mail from your sons to deliver actually. If you feel up to it."

"I'm without my reading glasses sadly, but I'll survive. Give me Dozle's first his handwriting is always nice and large..."

Jolyne comes in to tell you that Icelina has arrived.

    Degwin presently finishes Dozle's letter.

"Well, that was nothing to get excited about, although I am glad to hear that Little Minerva is doing well." He takes Garma's letter and begins reading that.

You wait while he continues to read, and eventually he reaches the end and folds up the paper.

"Well, that was of more substance. It seems that we should not distract your team from the American front more than neccersary. And on that subject, I understand you have someone to meet with me."

You blink. Well you guess now is as good a time as any to introduce Icelina, and you let her in. As the two begin to talk you decide to leave them to their privacy.

You go about looking for a secure commline to Garma back on earth. Although with the threat of Gihren's spy's everywhere, you are able to open a communications line with him.

"Well Commander? How goes the mission?"

"It's complete sir, although I can't really go over the details even on a secure line sir, but suffice to say you're original suspicions proved accurate. "The package" is conversing with you're father now, it seems to be going well. Oh, and your niece and brother are apparently doing well also."

"Well, that's a mixed message if ever I heard one."

"How's the earth front is progressing?"

"It's still back an forth, but the build-up for a second attack on Jaburo is going well. I had assigned Char to the Mad Angler unit and had them pursue the Trojan Horse, I believe limited damage they were able to inflict were able to redirect the ship to our territory in Africa. According to reports from the Africa front, the Trojan Horse is rolling about the country being heavily pressed by the Afrika Corps and the Wolfgar Squadron. I think they're putting too much effort into it, but as long as the Federation keeps concentrating on keeping that blasted carrier alive, they ignore me as I make ready for Operation Joker. I've got Mad Angler and Char doing recon in Jaburo, I'm hoping for their report any day now."

You agree to the meeting as long as they're quick.

They arrive shortly in a White new style Musai, and open a Comm.

"Good morning Commander, we were wondering if you could escort us to Side 3. Lord Kycillia ordered us to bring something flashy with us, so we've taken our latest model Newtype MA and loaded it into this converted Musai. If you could escort us and aid the MA if it has to go into combat, that would be great. Also, any feedback would be good too. In anycase, after this were taking it to Pezun for testing, and you're welcome to join if you have the time."

The two of you make your way to meet back up with Kycillia's flotilla. You aren't sure how this is going to go down. With a bit of luck Gihren will either relinquish his position and go into hiding. But somehow you don't think it's that easy.

The Flanagan guys are being tight lipped about what their MA in question is. Not even when you try to ply them with your combat footage data do their relinquish.
It's not like it's top secret, you just get the impression that they want it to be a suprise.

You rejoin Kycillia's flotilla just in time. It appears to consist of her flagship the Gwarib, 4 Musai's (of varying models), and 2 New production type Chivvay Heavy Cruisers.
Plus now your Zanzibar and the Flanagan's Musai.

    Kycillia opens a channel.

"Welcome Nachtmaren, I was unsure if you would be joining us, good to see you escorted the Katarina without problems. Gihren has been busy since our last meeting. He's apparently consolidated his control over Side 3 and A Boa Qu, and he's set up a blockade of forces to halt our approach to Side 3. He's spreading rumours that we have kidnapped father and are forcing him to call for Gihren to step down. I fear it may be best if you all went to full readyness and prepared your mobile suits..."

A few hours later you reach the defensive fleet Gihren's sent to blockade it.
It's not the number of old style Chivvay and Musai's that worry you, it's more the gigantic mobile suit carrier that they orbit.

"Fuck me running. I didn't think they'd actually managed to finish the Dolos." Remarks Captain Mauser.

The giant thing dwarfs even Kycillia's Gwaizine, and you're a little unsure if even you can take down something that huge.

You can hear the communication over your communication network:

"This is Lord Adrmial Kycillia Zabi state your intentions A-Boa-Qu fleet."

"This is Rear-Admiral Aguille Delaz, I have orders from Acting Sovereign Gihren to order your arrest for collaboration and treason."

"And I have orders from ACTUAL Sovereign Degwin Zabi, for the arrest of Gihren on the same charges, AS WELL as the assassination of Zeon Sum Deikum."

You suspect that last part she may have thrown in herself. You were careful not mention that particular part of your invesitgation to Degwin when you were talking with him.

"Hmph. I'm afraid the Palace Doctor has already signed that Degwin was unfit for duty last week."

"The doctor who attended my favour had never set foot inside the palace before today, and is also implicated in Zeons murder as well. Furthermore, Degwin is both concious and in full possession of his faculties, and if you do not believe him you can open a channel to Grenada base and see for yourself!"

"I am Sovereign Degwin Zabi, ruler of the Principality of Zeon, and if you are hearing this, then it means that the situation has become thus that it seems that conflict between fellow Zeonic soldiers seems almost inevitable. As you can see, although weakened by my ordeal, my mind is still as sharp as ever, and with all my heart I urge those of you who are listening to this recording to not take up arms against your fellow countrymen! But to allow my daughter past to enact my orders on a wayward son. I make no assurances for Gihren, but I make no threats either, that Gihren has wronged me for his own ambition is certain, but this is a family matter, and no Zeonic blood should be shed over it, and it should be dealt with fairly and privately as family matters should. So I ask you again, to look within your heart that surely loves Zeon as much as I, and do not take arms against us. I know you will make the right decision now, when it is more critical than ever."

There's a moment pause as the blockade fleet digests this information.

Delaz as you expected refuses to let a little thing like truth and reality get in his way.

"LIES! ALL FORCES ATTACK!" He roars.

"Sir! 4 Musai's and 2 Chivvay's have shut off their IFF transponders and are reporting critical electrical failures or the like." Reports Anita.

"Well that's something. What about the rest? The rest of the rest?"

"The Dolos is charging, along with the 2 Chivvay's and 2 of the Musais, the remaining 4 Musais seem to be hanging back. I think they're wavering but I don't know how we'd push them over. The Dolos has begung launching, as have the Chivvays!"

"Screw it, I guess there's no helping it. Nachtmaren Team launch!"

"You mean, run out of the hatches?"

"Yes Zolomon. That's excatly what I mean."

You all begin exiting the hangar bay of your Zanzibar Kai. You also order the Katarina to do the same and then retreat to the back.

We are going to be working a 'no kills' action. Incapacitate or disable all incoming enemy mobile suits as and where possible, no need to make this worse than it is by killing off Zeonic soldiers where we don't need to. Really though we want to cripple or destroy Delaz's ship and force a surrender quickly. I suggest that we tell anyone with a still functioning ship that this is the strategy we want to take, once he's gone we can call for them to cease fire and surrender again with Lord Degwins backing.

If we can take down his ship ourselves awesome, otherwise we will be playing escort to anything with a gun big enough to do it for us.

Assign Calvin to the Braw Bro. Relaying targeting information to those flying Beam Guns will probably be quite useful. Leave Bernie for escort in case they attempt to tear that shit up.

As for us, fucking Blitzkrieg. We should Ride Jolyne, with Zol alongside. We detach and, as Jolyne and Zol go to town on the Dolos' hangars, Hovis and David engage any enemy suits, going for disabling shots. Also, we should be ready to take out the Dolos' engines on the off-chance Delaz pulls some stupid ramming shit.

The Dolos has to be holding the majority of the enemy MS, and appears to be hilariously easy to cripple. When we get around to taking it on (which should be a priority) we need to aim for the launch catapults. There aren't very many, and even if we can't plug them all crippling even a few of them would make it nearly useless, leaving it to plunk at us with whatever armaments it has.

We don't want to leave ourselves wide open to more dangerous things while we take out its catapults, though.

Your team rushes forwards. You can see several other squads on both sides pushing forwards and exchanging fire.
    It's begun.
You're target, the Dolos has over extended itself forwards, exposing itself as it moved out of it's escorting Chivvay's fire arcs. Beams from Kycillia's Gwaidan lance past you to carve large gouges through the thick armour of the Dolos, but it's huge size means that it takes the salvo.
The barrage does cover your advance somewhat, which is probably how the first squads to launch out of the Dolos miss you and you're able to get an opening salvo off against the large launch tubes before they turn around to rectify their mistake.

The combined fire of your team devestates 2 of the 7 catapults, they'll need clearing to be usable again.
You see 6 Zaku's lead by a Rick Dom in your rear camera, you disengage from Jolyne and turn to face them.
"Zolomon, you and Jolyne keep working on those launch catapults, Hovis you deal with anything else that comes out. I'll handle these guys."

You dash towards them your Bullpup rifle and Boxer Shield at the ready.

You nimbly dodge the Rick Dom's Bazooka shot and as it attempt to decellerate to get out of the way you use your boxer shield and with a might punch shear one of it's legs clean off, reducing thrust by just under 50%. It tumbles out of way as the remaining Zaku's attempt to encircly you. 3 are the superior F2 type, 1 is an S type, the rest are the older F model. You dash between their bullets and bazooka's and get in close enough to direct a stream of bullets a the S types gun arm. You then kick it's head clean off. The suit tumbles backwards.

Behind you you see yet more explosions from Zolomon and Jolyne attacking the gates, and Hovis's Bygro speeds past you, a pair of Zaku's grabbed deftly in it's claws, rotating at terrific speed, probably as to rend the pilots unconcious.

So far. You think as you dodge another burst of 120mm shells, so good.

You order Zolomon and Jolyne to switch targets to the engines.

"That' might take a while there's a lot of engine to get through..." Jolyne mentions, but they move off, down the vast bult of the Dolos anyway.

You and Hovis turn to face the newcomers a trio of Rick Dom's and a trio of R-1A High Mob Zaku's from the looks of it.

Hovis fires his mega-particle cannon into the midst of them to disrupt their formation and then you dive into them, your Heat Hawk readied. You're first pass disables 2 of the R-1A's, they're flimsy leg armour allows you to cripple them easily.
When the Bygro follows you through it's able to grab a couple and quickly fling them away as well. It's turning circle at such speeds isn't as great as yours though and it's going to have to dance with the battleships before returning to help you out further.

Never the less, he's sown enough chaos for you to make a second pass, taking out a Rick Dom with a carefully placed cleave to it's shoulders.
Now however the remainder are beginning to get organised.

If the tri-stars can JET STREAM ATTACK the Dolos' bridge, combined with the crippled catapults it'll be pretty much out of action, leaving it a very valuable, very large hunk of cover for our fleet assets. We need to cover the tri-stars while they do their magic, though.

Speaking of our fleet, how are they holding up? Do we have anti-beam chaff on any of the vessels? It'd really help when the enemy's big guns decide to open up on us.

You replace your Heat Hawk with your freshly reloaded Bullpup, and begin firing at the R2's trying to take them out of the fight before having to deal with the enemy Rick Dom leader, who you identify as such due to his Blue and Green colour scheme.
No such luck, the Rick Dom isn't having any of it, and his well placed Bazooka shots prevent you from getting clear shots of your own.
Turning your attention to Rick Dom, you hope that Hovis will make it back soon, you can see one of the Chivvay's ablaze from his suprise visit already.

You dash forwards and fire a burst from your Bullpup at his bazooka he saves his arm, but has to toss the 330mm before it explodes. He then draws his back-up 120mm Rifle. You both dodge each others shots, for a few bursts. Whoever this guy is, he's ace material.
You spot muzzle flares in your rear camera and spin to avoid the Bazooka shells fired by the remaining R1-A's, the Rick Dom takes advantage and charges in on full thrust.
Putting all of his weight into the attack he brings his heat-saber down, you raise your Boxer Shield and the there's a great impact that shakes you about in your seat, but the Lunar Titanium holds where any other material would have cleaved like butter. On full auto you spray around the Rick Dom's torso extremities with your Bullpup. The Head, arms, and legs are sheared off by the weight of bullets you bring to bear at point blank. You push the neutralised ace away from you and turn to deal with the Remaining R1-A's to see them dueling with Hovis's Bygro already. An explosion from the Dolos's engine block get's your attention. As do the white Retreat Flares launched by the vessel afterwards.

As your help out Hovis to finish of the High-Mobility Zaku's you hear Kycillia over the comm network.

"The rebel forces are retreating, were also pulling back for now. All friendly forces allow the fleet to disengage. I repeat allow the fleet to disengage. Do not pursue!"

You give the Zaku's the oppourtunity to flee, which they take (again, a Skeleton colour scheme has it's benefits.) and as the smoking Dolos is allowed to make it's retreat, you rejoin with your lines.

"Nice work David! You must have terrified that Dolos when you charged so they ran off." Mash calls to you enthusiastically.

    "How'd you make out guys?"

"Well, Johnny's a pretty easygoing guy to work with, and the Jetstream Attack really can't be beaten in a Rick Dom. I'd hate to meet the suit that's faster and tougher than this!"

You omit to mention the Gundam at this point. Or the Pezun Dowdage.

"Anyway, we just got word back from Kycillia, we've got reports of a second fleet from Side 3 making it's way here, if we'd have continued the battle they'd have caught in a pincer when we tried to persue." Gaia clarifies.

"So were hanging back here until we can get more resources and ships to push into Side 3."

Zolomon's Mobile Suit, glides up to you along with Jolyne, they're sporting some dents, but otherwise none the worse for wear.

"So boss? What now?" Zolomon asks.

"Now? We try to finish this before it starts."

We should try to recover as many MS pilots that have been shot down as possible. Pilots we rescue now could be put back into action on our side after they've been properly debriefed. Also, I sure hope Ramba Ral is making a beeline for Solomon.

The next time we go into battle agasint the Dolos it's a sure bet they'll have launched their full MS contingent a good hour before we're engaged.

Damn, Gato would have beaten us if we hadn't stolen a little bit of Gundam-hax.

God damn, if it wasn't before, Nachtmaren Team is going to be fucking legendary among Zeon.

We just disabled Zeon's supercarrier without killing any of the pilots who tried to stop us, just after we rescued Degwin Zabi from his DREAD MOON PRISON apartment.

Of course we'll rescue them all, or at least as many as possible. Gato is just a priority though.

If we offer no quarter, they'll fight all the harder.

We offer them amnesty, and if the powers that be judge them so, back into combat.

    These are valuable troops.

Depends on how I'm feeling tommorow or sunday.

Oh and as for Gato, one of the suits that the Bygro tossed was Gato's indian wingman dude who dies in 0083, it's safe to say that he picked Gato up and dragged him back to the fleet.
    Sorry, no Gato.

And also, Cima isn't involved in this battle.
In fact at the moment she's not even in space.

Well, my arm hurts from typing and it's nearly 2 am, so I'll see you tommorow.

You know, Gato might not be quite as indoctrinated now as he was in 0083.

We should clear the offer of Amnesty with our superiors first.

The last thing we want is to seem ineffective or dishonest if Kycilia says "lolno, traitors die." after the battle.

Well, its a given that people will fight harder. but I get what you mean. We need to offer them amnesty, otherwise its a fight to the death.

    And those are meat grinders.

Hmm. You know, we just won a battle without killing any enemy pilots, and we're (meta) lusting after a green-haired pilot and hoping to make her our waifu.

We might need to change our name, gentleListers.
