You've just finished playing cards with most of the crew. To everyone's, including yourself, surprise, Emmie managed to win the game. With various grumbles of "beginner's luck" the crew head back to their cabins. You're first day aboard the Blazing Profits has come to an end.
In the middle on the ship's night cycle, you wake up thirsts. You ease yourself from the bed and tiptoe out the door to avoid waking Emmie. The Galley is empty, save one seat at the far end. Tobias is sitting at the counter, sipping recaff and reading a book.

You get yourself a glass of water and set down near Tobias. He carefully puts a book marker in his book and sets it down. He looks up at you and smiles. "Nice pajamas." Your nightwear is much like Emmie's. White undershirt and boxers. You ask him what he's doing up at this hour. "I find it to be the most peaceful time on the ship. Everyone else is asleep, except Ismael and the two techpriests, who never do. It's relaxing, and the only time I get to read without the chaos of the rest of the crew distracting me. So, what d you think so far?"

    (Slow night tonight)
You sit back, unashamed of your clothing. You ask how Tobias ended up in this ship, and that you got most of the stories of the rest of the crew. "Oh yeah, tonight was card night, wasn't it? I had bridge duty, or else I'd be there. Did Samantha win again?" You shake your head and tell him it was Emmie. "Well now, that's a shock. Samantha has a way with people. Anyway, you asked about me? Well... I saved the captain's life. This was... 5 or 6 years ago? The Captain was being raided by Eldar pirates, I helped chase them off." He pauses to sip on his mug, thinking. "I was actually with her when we saved Ismael and Jessica. Let me tell you, there's nothing quite as surprising as finding a baby and a bleeding man in the middle of a forest teaming with Tyranids. We were pulling out when we stumbled upon them... honestly I would have left them, but the Captain forced us to help. I'm glad she did. Ismael is one of my closest friends."

So... so far the crew is two techpriests, one an Enginseer, the other a Magos (Which is pretty high up, right?)
AT LEAST two ex military men, one a Catachan, the other what we THINK is an Elysian drop trooper.
A woman who CLAIMS to be an ex-hooker, but who I think is a Psyker.
An Ex-Pirate pilot and his daughter, who I think it is safe to assume is just as good as her father.
The mysterious Captain, who I'm willing to bet is a Rogue Trader or an Inquisitor
The Navigator, who we will never meat.
    And Alex, an ex-ganger thief
    Am I missing anyone?

I think we may be on an TP or Inquisitorial vessel, and they aren't actively trying to hide it.

... but if we ARE on an Inquisitor or Rogue Trader ship... WHY?
Why would they take an interest in Emmie and us? Are we really here just for grunt work?

Doubt this is Inquisition. Not a RT either, they have fleets.

You comment on the how different the two are. Tobias laughs. "That man has saved my life almost as many times as I saved him. I'm Jessica's godfather. He's... rough around the edges, and he'll screw you over if he thinks he can profit from it, but once you get past all that and get to be his friend, he'll lay his life on the line for you every time... and speaking of which."
A second later you hear the tell tale CLUNK pause of Ismael approaching. As the bearded pilot walks into the Galley he nods to the two of you. "Evening lads."

You nod to the pilot. Curious about one of Tobias's earlier comments, you ask if he really never sleeps. "Aye. I got that part of me brain taken out, like the Tinheads. They normally don't do it fer the uninitiated, but the Magos, he owed me something fierce. I sleep once a week, fer a few hours. Lets me keep in touch with me ship." He walks to the cooler and takes some drink out, one with a pungent smell. "Jessica has the helm, so drinkin' wont be a problem. Nice undies." He takes a long pull. Clear liquid dribbles down his beard.

The ship keeps a pretty regular day night cycle, it helps the crew stay stable. You know that tomorrow is supposed to be your first real day.
You ask Ismael how long until you arrive at your destination. He scratches his beard. "The Bitch says warp currents be in our favor. We'll probably arrive a week early at this rate, two weeks from now. Ya best be gettin' some shut eye." He limps his way back through another door.
Taking his advice, you go back to your cabin. You enter as quietly as possible, but you find Emmie already away. She relaxes and smiles as you enter, and lays back down. "Come back to bed. We have work in the morning."

You eagerly get back into the bed, giving Emmie a kiss as you do so. She snuggles into you and shivers. You realize for the first time that, while not cold, the ship seems to be a few degrees below comfortable. You wrap your arms around Emmie and this doesn't seem too bad.
The next morning you're rudely awoken by some kind of noise coming from the overhead speaker. It ALMOST sounds like music, if the music was played by a man being strangled who only had a vague grasp of how to use a horn. And woke up far too early. This time it's Tobias's voice on the overhead. "Rise and shine people. Breakfast in twenty. And no grumbling, you know the rules, when we aren't in port, we wake up early."
Twenty minutes doesn't seem long enough for both you and Emmie to use the shower, and you don't know how the water heater on this ship is.

The shower will be a tight fit, but honestly, is getting squishes up against a naked Emmie a BAD thing?
After a quick shower Emmie and yourself do some simple stretches then get dressed. You arrive in the Galley within the twenty minutes, though Tobias and Ralph are already seated, along with Amanda and Malachi. Grabbing a plate of what looks to be eggs and bacon, you settle down and start eating.
Slowly the rest of the crew filters in, with Samantha being last, and ten minutes late. Her hair is a disaster and you wish she was wearing more clothes, or at least more then an oversized shirt.
Ralph grunts and turns to a clipboard in front of him. "Alright everybody, here's what I got for you today. Amanda, Malachi, I need you two to take a look at the number 4 power coupling. Ismael said it was making some funny noises last night. Alex, I want you to help them however they need you to." Alex seems about to protest, but Ralph halts him with a stern glare. "Newbloods, you're with me. Some cargo got shifted as we left the atmosphere, and now we have the time to fix it. Samantha... First I want you to get dressed," A faint grunt from behind her recaff mug, "then I want you to clean up the galley. Tobias will help you there."

Right, a day's pay for a day's work and all that. After you finish eating, you and Emmie follow Ralph back to the cargo hold. Several stacks of crates have fallen, and Ralph curses. "I though I had those stored properly. Well at least it was nothing valuable. Hey, you, Niel was it? Would you mind cleaning that up?" he points to a stack of boxes that had fallen. About five of them had opened, spilling their contents on the hold's floor. Getting closer to pick up the mess, they seem to be ration bars. Ralph starts directing Emmie on were to put the rest of the crates, and starts manhandling them himself. As you start putting ration bars back neatly into their crate, you notice something... This crate should be deeper. Looking inside only about two thirds of it are full of ration packs, the bottom of the crate must be fake.

This is NOT kosher! You dump out the rest of the ration bars and begin fiddling with the fake bottom. Ralph looks up. "Hey, I asked you to clean that not make the mess big... what are you doing?" You pry open the bottom. Inside looks to be... Lasrifles, but slightly bigger and bulkier. You look at him angrily and ask him flat out what's going on, you aren't stupid. Ralph reaches into his pocket and pulls out an Iho stick. "This is my last one. We aren't allowed to smoke on the ship, but I found this one in my cabin, and I figure that it can either tempt me the whole trip and make me go crazy, or I can smoke it now. I won't tell if you don't." He lights up, sighing contently as he breath in. "And Emmie, don't pull that gun, that goes for both of you. It could get nasty. Those are Hellguns in there. Inquisitor Stormtroopers use them. Take another look, the Purity Seals are still on them." He takes another long draw on his Iho. "You were going to find out in about five days anyway. We're making a little side stop to drop those off. Now, I'll tell you the truth, and lets see if you'll believe it. Our Captain works for the Inquisition. Well, she works for an inquisitor anyway. Some times it's easier to go around the proper channels than through them.

Tell Ralph you'll go with the story. Put the ration bars back and get back to work. Ask him if he knows how the Captain got into this business with the Inquisition. If he doesn't want to answer, don't press it.

(It's really odd to see my first name in these posts. On a military character when I'm in the Army, no less. However I look nothing like a Catachan. I'm just a skinny little runner guy, but I can ruck my own body weight when I have to.)

You put the fake bottom back in the case and begin loading it up again. You aren't sure you believe him, and you tell him so. Why would the inquisition need to keep a delivery secret? Either way, you're outnumbered and outgunned. Ralph nods. "You're right about that, especially since Samantha has been behind you for the last five minutes, and Alex is on the catwalk above you with a sniper rifle. And the outpost is supposed to be secret. It's in the middle of a city. Nothing odd about a church receiving food."
Samantha giggles behind you, and you turn to see her with a sword in her hands. "I think Emmie noticed me before you got done with your rant Ralph. Did they win?"
Ralph nods and puts a hand to his ear. "Tell the boss they passed. They kept a level head and didn't panic. And they don't trust me. I suspect they'll be sleeping in shifts for a while." He pauses, "Are you sure? Alright, I will."

Ralph nods and looks from you to Emmie. "Emmie here is what we call a Blank, she has no warp presence. She's been watched for years now. Now YOU on the other hand..." he turns to you. "You're something far more. You're a Pariah. You project an anti-warp zone. Psykers can't use warp powers around you, and in some cases your very presence can hurt them. That's why the Captain hasn't seen you. She's a Psyker herself, though not a very strong one. The Inquisition has been keeping tabs on Emmie for a while, hoping she was more then a Blank, but you were a complete surprise. I'm not even sure how they found you, nor am I sure what they hoped to achieve by placing Emmie in your care, but to me it looks like they made the right choice."

Most of these crates here are filled with legitimate cargo. After that, it's your choice. Until last night, I had no idea what took you off world, but that was a lucky break for us.
