Welp, here we go. Thanks to everyone who pointed out that I could still archive threads to sup/tg/, just not look at them.

    LAST TIME ON ZEONQUEST

You are David Lister, and for the last few hours you and your elite Nachtmaren Unit have been causing all kinds of havoc deep within the bowls of Federal HQ, Jaburo.

After having successfully destroyed the Federations MS production facility in Jaburo (your primary objective) you escaped to the underground complex in order to re-unite with the second infiltration unit: The Mashiba Team led by Cima Girahou.

That was when you received this message:

"This is the Mindnight Fenrir Unit. Can anyone respond? We've entered the base through a captured MS dock, but when we attempted a Force Recon on the GHQ we encountered heavy enemy resistance and are bogged down. Can anyone lend assistance? We have multiple mobile suit contacts... wait, I think I see something... what the..."

Gather our wounded and heavily damaged suits from all the teams, including infantry. Order them to pull out with hovis to secure the feddie tech, report mission status and get reinforcements to come after us.

All remaining forces move to support the midnight fenrir.

    Swear. Viciously.

Next, we need an immediate sitrep on our team, and then try to get a signal through to Cima's team.

Best-case scenario is that we get a transmission through, and that we can both double-time it to aid Midnight Fenrir, destroy the GHQ and kill a pair of Gundams in one action.

You ask for an ETA from Cima's team.

"Were coming in from the north commander, that means that we'll encounter the Midnight Fenrir before you do. If we hurry we can meet you there."

You order Zolomon, Elaine, Jolyne and Hovis to take their busted suits back to the Outer Heaven for repair.

"Midnight Fenrir mentioned that they'd captured an MS entrance lift, try to secure that or find some other way." You suggest.

    Then, over the radio.

"This is Lt. Alsace of the 123rd Company! We've gained entrance at grid refference B-17 after capturing a Starship hangar port, can I get and friendly signals?"

The signal is becoming crackly, due to the gradually rising level of Minovsky Particles. Using the map you can see that this hangar would make the 123rd ideally placed to either help the Midnight Fenrir, Hold the Hangar bay which would make for an easier escape to the surface for your damaged units, or split their forces trying to do both.

Are we aware of the 123rd's current composition?

Personally, I wold advise them to hold the hangar bay. Having a secure line of withdrawl is critical in a mission like this, and MF + Cima + Us should be able to not die too badly against whatever gets thrown at us down here, short of Amuro.

Other than that, stick to the current plan.

Can we get zolomon refusing to pull out?

Also order them to hold the chokepoint and secure the area. It is critical that we funnel our units into the depths of jaburo. Sending redshirts to assault a gundam is ordering a suicide mission.

Your Beam Carbine is has about 2 bursts left and 3 reloads. You're running low.
You have 3 Cracker Grenades left and 1 Stick-Bomb.

The Z'Gok E reports about 50% of onboard E-Clip capacity spent and the Gundannon-4 that you captured reports that the Beam Spraygun has about 20 shots left, and the Shoulder Cannon has about 10 (out of a starting 50.)

Have our damaged team head for the new opening. If it's a starship grade port it'll be easier to get a pickup provided the AA guns around it on the surface have been cleared. If it can be kept open it'll also make it easier for our team to get back in and save our asses.

Ammo shouldn't be much of an issue for the Goufs, so we could requisition those two to come help us. The Kaempfer would be a fantastic addition, but if it's running low on ammo it'll be next to useless after a few volleys.

I suggest we detail Elaine and Jo to reinforce them while we steal their Goufs. They can stay at the hanger and secure it until the ammo drop, at which point they become our reserve.

Well, we don't know the exact composition of the enmy force, nor the layout of the battlefield around the GHQ. So precise plans are tricky right now.

Metagaming, we do know there's the Mudrock, the G3, and an unspecified number of grunt suits, as well as heavy conventional defences. At the moment, our best plan is to gang up and gank the Gundams before they can whittle us down, and then deal with the GMs and finally the fixed defences.

Try to surprise it while it is zigging and zagging around the Midnight Fenrir team's attacks. If we can have them lure it out somewhere we can pour fire on it that would be nice.

The red-shirt Goufs could be used to harry and harass while the Midnight Fenrir guys close off the Gundam's ability to retreat. Maybe make the Gundam think the best place to fall back would be right where David's Act Zaku is waiting to get a nice point blank shot on it.

We also did send in the FAE bomb so we can expect any static defences to have sustained minor to significant damage.

Parts of Jaburo are toast with their production hampered. The annoying modular design is making complete takeover the only real method of knocking the place out completely. If we can push to the GHQ we may be able to force a surrender, especially since the urban fighting experts of the Midnight Fenrir are right next to the place with Cima's team and ours closing in.

    Back.

You and the rest of your squad force march towards the combat zone. There appears to be plenty of cover up ahead, stone pillars and several large stalagmites that a Mobile Suit could use for light cover.
Unless those are the ones that droop down, in which case they're stalagtites.

You can still see and hear fighting up ahead, looks like you made it in time. The Minovsky concentration is heavy, you can't get any radar or radio signal here. You carefully advance forwards, using the terrain as cover, the rest of your squad following you.

"Sonar is picking up one target making a whole lot of noise, and several other possible contacts. It's hard to tell, that one guy is putting out a LOT of noise." Calvin reports.

Carefully following round you follow the sounds of Bazooka Fire and the distinctive sound of 90mm SMG fire and luckily manage to find your allies. The Midnight Fenrir.

After identifying yourself, you make laser-com contact with their commander, in a Zaku 1 (command variant) armed with a 880 Bazooka and holding a GM's Lunar Titanium shield that he got somewhere.

"If it isn't the infamous Nachtmaren Unit! I'm Lt.Commander Scmitzer and this is Manning and Fran. The Gundam is acting in support of GM squads, but he doesn't seem to bright, the GM's have been forced into cover over to the western side of this battlefield, whilst he keeps breaking cover looking for us."

If the Gundam is being foolish enough to break cover to find the Fenrir guys then it really is handing itself to us. Let's lure it out with a promise of an easy kill and dogpile it with liberal amounts of beamspam.

In conjunction with the Goufs we move up like we are about to throw ourselves at the GMs (we use cover of course and have a plan to retreat to the ambush zone). When the Gundam decides to jump out and wreck us we start hopping back as if in fear and right into the Midnight Fenrir's trap.

If Cima is here she can help make sure no GMs try to break through to help the Gundam.

I think that's the best course of action. We need to avoid being surrounded and overwhelmed.

Immediate course of action is to lure out Agar into a crossfire, whether through baiting, grenades or taunts. Then mopping up the GMs will be easy.

(Actually , I have half a mind to think that Cima's team may have run into the G3. They stand half a chance in Gyan Marines, but if they're still not here by the time we're done with the Mudrock, we should move to find them.)

You opt to reposition yourself and then ready a Cracker Grenade to try and draw your opponent out. You toss the grenade into the open area in front of you, past the stalagmite/tites that you're using as cover.

Within seconds the explosion draws him out, a large stone pillar explodes in a shower of rocks, and from the debris flies the Gundam, it's multiple jet boosters flying around at speeds you more commonly see on a Dom.
Aside from it's shoulder cannons, the mobile suit is carrying a Gundam style Beam Rifle in one hand, and 100mm SMG in the other.

"FIRE!" you order as both of your squads open up on the enemy. Bullets, rockets and beams fill the air. Sparks fly as bullets ricochet off his armour, your beam shots craze about his lower torso, but the pilot has the idiots luck and most of the shots go between his legs aside from one that clips his leg mounted thrusters. He has to eject them before they explode, but it's still got plenty of speed.

He dashes towards the Midnight Fenrirs position, his Shoulder Cannons firing, whilst he sprays beams and bullets from his rifles at you, the bullets destroy a couple of the stalagmites your using as cover and you barely dodge the beams.

You opt to charge him whilst his backs turned, you order Bernie and Calvin to cover you whilst you make the charge.
You dash over no mans land, fire from enemy GM's spraying around you, you hear beam fire from behind you as your wingmen begin firing back.

The Midnight Fenrir team are naturally more concerned with the charging Gundam. You struggle to catch up with the Mobile Suit which leaps over the stalagmites they're using for cover and they scatter to avoid his close range fire. Behind them you see a new pair of Gouf's must be the the MS from 123rd company.
They charge forwards, braving your opponents fire, a beam shot shears on of their legs whilst the other uses his shield to defend against the 100mm shells and with his Heat Saber drawn he strikes at the Gundams arm, it staggers backwards as sparks fly from his forearm he used to defend with. You dash in, Heat Hawk drawn, and strike at his torso, sparks fly and the blade cuts into the lunar titanium, but it's not a lethal blow and you can't fire your Beam Carbine without risking hitting the Gouf on the other side.

Your opponent uses his thrusters to turn to face the Gouf, pulling the lodged Heat Hawk with him. You let go, letting him have it and ready your Boxer Shield.
You plant a resounding punch on his back, you see exhaust and thruster verniers crumple under the blow. His Shoulder guns extend forward and there is blast from both.
The recoil, coupled with forward fitted thrusters causes him to ram into you backwards, forcefully pushing you into a stone column.
You're shaken in your seat, and your computer tells you that the impact has worsened your earlier damage.

There's an explosion nearly point blank, and the Gundam is thrown to right back into no man's land, it's left arm flying in the air, severed from the 880mm Rocket impact from the Midnight Fenrir.

You turn your suits head to see that the double cannon blast has blown both of the remaining Gouf's arms off and it's on it's ass belching smoke, whilst the GM's supporting the Gundam are advancing, despite your teams covering fire.

You pull yourself out of the crumbling column, in time to see the Gundam pull out a Beam Saber from it's hip area.
Your suit responds sluggishly as you try to move your Beam Carbine to aim, it feels like a power-distribution error rather than your joints giving way luckily.

You see Bernard leap in to attack the Gundam. His arm outstretched to tear the Mobile Suit's head off, but you see the Gundam start to thrust his saber forwards, directly at the Z'Gok's cockpit area.

Your Mobile Suits legs respond haphazardly, one works the other doesn't, you're Beam Carbine still wont raise itself, and with nothing left, you hurl the Lunar Titanium Boxer Shield at the Beam Saber.

the shield tumbles lazily through the air, your shot misses the arm and hits the Gundam's flank knocking it off it's feet.
It's beam saber, instead of turning Bernie into hamburger it merely grazes the Z'Gok's chest. The Marine Mobile Suits claws close around empty air as the Gundam continues to fall, and lands heavily on it's side.

The side with your heat hawk still lodged in it.

The blade is given sufficient force to not only slice clean through the torso block, but also to fly through the air towards you. With your now empty hand you reach up, and manage to catch it.

Oh god, some of Zolomon must be rubbing off on you.

You see Bernie leap backwards towards you, firing beams from both his arms. He lands in front of you, still firing.

    "You alright boss?" He asks.

"What the hell was THAT Bernard!? Mobile Suits aren't people, they DONT HAVE VITAL SPOTS IN THEIR HEAD. Do you know how close you came to be reduced to chunks of meat just then!? I never want to see you do something like that ever again!" You berate him over the close range comms as you try to reset your limbs power distribution, your kind of a sitting duck here.

A smoke grenade flies out from the Midnight Fenrir, covering all of no mans land in smoke, obscuring you and your enemy.

"Yeah, thanks for finally taking out that gundam he took out two of our team already before we were able to lose him. But your squad looks pretty beat up, you push on to one of the exit points, we'll make a fighting retreat, see if we can't nickel and dime them."

The Gouf Custom walks back to your location.

    "Manning, report?"

"I got 2 before the smoke cleared, but there's at least 4 more down, and their moving to flank us on the right."

"Well, that confirms it, we'll start moving back towards the hangar that the 123rd Squadron took."

You all begin quickly moving, Calvin manages to join you, but his suits a little worse for wear, numerous dents, bullet holes, scorch marks and several pieces of missing armour are easily visible.

"I held them off for as long as I could Commander."

"That's fine Calvin, how's your suit?"

"Some heat dissipation problems, plus I'm not longer waterproof, otherwise okay."

You continue your march to the exit point, the Midnight Fenrir team make three successive hit and fade ambushes, using up smoke and flashbangs at a prestdigious rate. They account for a further 2 Mobile Suits, but the enemy is relentless and well trained, making kills difficult.

You're getting closer to the Hangar location, but in the distance you can see that they're already embroiled in combat.
If you dash ahead to aid them you could leave yourself open to attacks from the rear from your persuers, but if you leave them you could lose the hangar entrance.

As always you could split your forces.

You and your team flank the enemy forces, you concentrate on the Tanks and Gunships with your left-over grenades, whilst the other two supress any GM's in sight.
Initially, your attack goes well. Taken by suprise the enemy forces compress inwards, alowing you to advance and regroup with the rest of your squad.

    "Status report?" you ask Jolyne.

"The enemy spent about 10 minutes making probing attacks, and then came full on with this assault. So far we've had no casualties, but that isn't going to last."

You see an explosion ahead of you, a smoking GM stagggers out of cover, you both put a brace of beam shots through it. In the distance you see movement in the ceiling as a Nachtmaren Hygogg swings from Stalagmite to Stalagmite as it repositions itself.

"What do you know... Zolomon finally found a way to charge into the thick of the enemy without getting shot to pieces." You comment.

Bullets craze your position from your flanks. It looks like the enemy have gone around and are attempt to hit from the direction you just came. At this rate the Midnight Fenrir will be cut off from the rest of you.

"Jolyne, we've got to take those flankers out, Calvin, how many?"

"I can't tell, there's too much movement going on! I'm not reading tanks though!"

The GM raises it's Beam Spray Pistol and you contemplate a dash or possibly tossing your Hawk at him when the decision is taken out of your hand as a circular shield, flying like a frisbee, lodges itself in the GM's torso.

"Roger! We'll deal with these forces first."

A GM pokes it's head out and begins firing, Cima dodges the beam shot and stabs forwards with her Beam Lance, the long beam weapon ignites and hydralic servo's in the handle extend it forwards, the blade neatly pierces a hole through the small pillar it was using as cover, and now with a large hole where it's lower torso and hip used to be, promptly explodes.

You retreat back towards the hangar bay, to see if your can tap into the communication network up top. As you walk there is a corona of thrusters overhead, and travelling at incredible speed, the Kampfer boosts over your head.

Once you reach the raised platform, the Zaku Tank waves cheerily at you.

    "You okay?" You ask.

"Sure, so far nobodies come up here." He replies.

"You hooked into the command network?"

"Yup, just bounce the laser signal through me and I'll patch you through"

A few seconds of computer operation later and your talking to Lord Captain Garma.

"Captain, what's the situation up top? The 123rd has taken an entranceway into the base, but they're down to a reinforced Squad and both my unit, the Mashiba Team and Midnight Fenrir are low on ammo and taken losses and damage. Wheres the rest of the conventional troops to secure this area?"

"Sorry David, the 123rd were off their landing co-ordinates when they dropped, it's taken us this long just to break through the enemy holdout and reach you. You should be seeing the 101st Company in minutes. What's your teams progess."

"The MS manufacturing plant is toast, but I don't believe my unit can take the GHQ, and I'm calling an evac."

"Then that'll have to do. I'll alert the Outer Heaven to pick you up, they should still be in the area after picking up your MA specialist."

    "Roger."

We should've seen about a way to bring extra suits with us. Oh well...

Oh my goodness Zeonquest. How the fuck did I miss what sounds like some epic last week, and the Gundam fight this week? Goddamn Summer Break. D:

Anyway, if Zeon has Kaempfers, David gets one. End of story. Doesn't necessarily have to be now. But it does have to be.

The arrival of the Mashiba Team is just what's need to turn the tide, combined with the Kampfers blitzkrieg attacks as well as bloodied but still capable Midnight Fenrir team flanking them without warning, the enemy forces are pushed back with heavy losses. Earning you some much needed breathing room.

You see a Zaku II in your mock-El Muerto Grande colours walk buy for rearmament and reloading.

"So, hows the colour scheme? Not catching too much fire I hope?"

"Tanks run when they see me, Mobile Suits just seem to come at me even harder. It's a pain."

"Wait, Tanks actually run away from you? Normally they just charge even harder at me." Zolomon observes as he flops down from the ceiling.

"Nice work Zolomon, how'd you explode the enemies from the ceiling with no beam weapons?" You ask.

"Chest mounted torpedoes. I just drop-em like grenades."

    "Ah."

A few minutes later you see your ship and Lili-Marleen flying overhead.

"Commander? Are you okay?" Anita asks over the comms.

"Where's the 101st? They're supposed to relieve us."

"They're not coming! All forces have been recalled back to their Gaws! Lord Garma's ordering a full retreat"

"What!? WHY!?" You shout over the comms.

"The Federation just mounted a full-scale assault on Odessa"

No no, it's on Earth, in eastern Europe or something. It's the worlds largest resource extraction facility and Zeon's been holding it since the beginning of the war, it's why we have so much raw material to do stuff with. If the Federation gets their hands on it again they'll be able to use their full industrial capacity again and overwhelm us in numbers, rather than being more or less resource starved.

    OMAKE

The King-Dabude Land Battlesip "Roter Mond" leant on one side, smoke billowing from the holes.

PO Singh fired a burst from his Desert Zaku's 120mm into a GM, it brought it's large shield up to defend, and Singh took advantage of the enemies distraction to switch attention to the encrouching squad of tanks trying to flank him, burst from his wrist vulcans took one out and sent the other retreating backwards into their cover.
Likewise he ducked behind the rock formation he was using as a Beam Spray blast flew overhead.
He took the oppourtunity to fire another burst at the enemy. This time the GM didn't have time to get his shield up and took the salvo through the chest and collapsed before exploding. Hopefully the Tanks would get the hint and flee as well.

He heard Northern Defence Command on the Network.
"This is Command to Roter Monde, pull back! Hildolfr Squadrons 1 and 2 are position to cover your retreat!"

"Don't bother Command, that last attack took out our motive systems. We'll try to hold them off for as long as possible, you have those artillery units fall back to the 2nd defence line. There's nothing more they can do."

    "Roger... and good luck."

Luck? Singh thought, they'd need more than luck, they'd need a bloody miracle. He also didn't recally signing up for no suicide missions when he joined the Zeon Forces either.

In the distance he could see overhead advancing Trojan Horse class carriers, great just what he needed. He noticed the tanks moving in on him again, he dispersed them with his head and wrist vulcans. Out of the corner of his eye he caught a flash of white.

"What was that?" He said to himself. He turned his mono-eye to face forwards and saw the target clearly.
    "What the...It's a gundam!"

There was the sound of a Beam Rifle.

    >Btw, you doing ok apologized? We're done a bit earlier than usual.

Whilst I've been better, the truth is you just ran through the whole Jaburo attack mission quicker than I thought you would do. I was sort of expecting an attack on GHQ as well remember.

I had this idea where you take the GHQ and are rooting around trying to find Revil, you ask Anita
    "Where's Revil?"
    "He's in odessa."
    "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF"

I was also toying with the idea of having Calvin save Bernie instead of you, but taking a full barage from the GM's and maybe getting injured, like say, losing and eye or something.
But I decided against it, because you weren't doing anything stupid, and it just seemed to cruel for the sake of cruelty.

We've unfortunately been shot to shit. Fortunately, Jaburo's breached to shit.

Most likely we're going to fight at Odessa, then drop right the fuck back into Jaburo.
That is, if Ghiren doesn't decide to be a douchebag. Which he will. And we'll have to go deal with him. And then Jaburo will get patched up and it'll all go to shit.

    Oh well.
