87 KB Stalker Quest 2 Stalk Out of Here Getter 09/19/10(Sun)02:23 No.12144638
New thread due to dat autosage. Old thread: >>12144519

You look around the bar, trying to gauge opinion. The bouncer is watching all of you carefully, grip tight on his shortened pump-action, but isn't interceding. Yet. You decide to go for the charismatic move, "Say, anyone mind if we shut Motor-Mouth here's trap? We'll even let you have a free gutshot," that elicits a few laughs from the patrons and even the barman, but not the bouncer. He drums his fingers on the grip of his gun. Message received.

Motor-Mouth is smirking at you, "Today ain't your day, Leif."

You ignore the insult; you're already formulating a new plan. Looking to Damsel, you give her a wink and tilt your head towards Motor-Mouth slightly before panning around to make the signal look more natural. Finally, you look back to Motor-Mouth and give him a show of defeat; his ego may be the way to get YOUR way. Hopefully Damsel will play along, "Fine," you say, "But you can't run forever, fuckhead. That mouth of yours will only get you so far."

You turn and stalk out with the others, not paying Damsel any mind; the others are confused, but follow.

Damsel does not. Clever girl, you knew there was a reason you liked her.

A few moments later, Motor-Mouth walks out with his arm around her waist, headed towards one of the general barracks, "Hey I stole your freakin girlfriend, moron, what do ya think about that?" he doesn't wait for a reply, walking off with a laugh; to her credit, Damsel gives a convincing laugh-along.

    Now the fun begins.

You trail behind quite a ways, no need to alert the cocky prick to the trap before it's been sprung. The door of the barracks bangs closed - you notice it's empty - and you wait. For a bit, there's only silence, then you hear a loud yelp and something that sounds like "-ou like [...] that?" This is followed by several more audible yelps before you decide to head in with Bird before she actually kills him; Twitch and Vlad stay outside to block any potential busy-bodies from making the situation awkward.

The both of you tromp in and move to the last bed on the right, which has had a privacy curtain pulled closed; pulling it back, you a topless Damsel pummeling a mostly-unconscious Motor-Mouth into the mattress; he now appears to be short a couple of teeth for that big yap.

"Damn, he does move fast," you joke immediately, and Damsel looks up, pulling her shirt closed.

"Hey, I told him I warned him I liked it rough," she retorts.

Bird, gaze averted in a gentlemanly manner, pulls out a bottle of vodka and pours it on the now-unconscious debtor, "I always like a drink after sex," he says, and Damsel shoves him.

"No wonder he had such a big mouth," you comment, snorting in amusement. Damsel, for her part, has already taken photos of the object of this bit of hilarity.

    >>12144846
"You guys dress him," she says, making a face, "I already had to undress him."

You get to the work readily enough; Damsel sure did her part. Searching his belongings, you only find a PDA on his person. When searching it reveals no valuable information, you smash it under a bootheel. Fuck this guy.

Dragging him from the barracks, you meet up with the others and head for the front gate. You've cottoned to Bird's plan, and you've got to admit, it's decent. You're not surprised when one of the common thugs stops you, "Whoa, where you kidnapping our village idiot off to?"

You give the unconscious Motor-Mouth a faux-backslap, "What, Motor-Mouth? He just had a bit too much to drink; we planned to meet up and head east but he got carried away as usual."

The thug sniffs the air and recoils, "Jesus, surprised he ain't dead. Word to the wise - pick a new friend. Guy's an asshole."

You escape the west agroprom otherwise-unaccosted, heading a ways down the road. By and by, he begins to slowly revive.

You know just where to take the little fuck - a shed out in the long grass. "Ah, memories," you say, tossing Motor-Mouth down on the pile of debris in the corner. As before, Twitch and Vlad stand guard outside. You wait patiently as night falls and Motor-Mouth regains his senses, having been tied and made ready for an "interview."

"Ah, you fucking bitch," he eventually manages, "what shit is this?"

"Not my fault you can't handle a real woman," Damsel sneers, and you hide a smirk at the joke. With his arms tied, Motor-Mouth can't do much when you grab him by the lapels and yank him up.

"Show some manners," you sneer. You notice his lips purse to spit and headbutt him. Hard, "It wasn't a request. Now, I'm going to try this one more time: give me Russkie's money, or I'm going to cut your little peanut balls off and shove them down your throat."

Amazingly, Motor-Mouth doesn't seem intimidated, "I told you, Leif, I ain't got shit! No suit, no money, no guns! Whatever happened to honor between stalkers, huh?"

    "What indeed?" Bird says sarcastically.

"Let's just give him to Russkie," you sneer, and haul him up again, only to toss him to the ground. "Get up! You've got a long walk ahead of you!" you punctuate this by prodding him with your shotgun, and he obeys - sullenly.

"That was quick," Vlad says, "and you didn't even break any bones. You'd never get anywhere in the military," he jokes.

    "Don't I know," you say.

Now night has fallen; the only light you have is the stars, moon, and a vague glow on the horizon.

Compared to Spaz, getting Motor-Mouth back to behave is cake...when he shuts up. You get the feeling he's cooperating only because he doesn't think certain death awaits him. You're not so sure, having met Russkie yourself.

After the sinister villages, deadly nerve agents, psuedodogs, space anomalies, BMP, and military thugs, it seems the Zone has (temporarily) run out of things to try and kill you with; your hike itself is more-or-less peaceful, even enjoyable. Motor-Mouth still seems strangely smug even as you finally arrive at Russkie's door. He's sitting in a too-small chair, reading a book - Crime and Punishment, by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

Setting the well-worn novel aside, Russkie stands and pops his knuckles slowly, with relish, "I see you bring me present. Is a little battered, but I like it very much," he takes Motor-Mouth from you easily, and hauls him up by his collar three feet, "Did you think you could beat me? Did you think I would forget YOU? Oh no, You I do not forget!" Now he's dragging a panicking Motor-Mouth off to his cabin, as if to beat him in privacy. The scrawny stalker attempts to wriggle free, but Russkie smashes him into the door frame, making the whole cottage shudder, "This is just the beginning of the pain I will cause you!"

    >>12145192
"No no no-" it seems to have settled in for Motor-Mouth, but too late. The door slams shut, and the beating you hear makes even Damsel wince sympathetically.

"Take that! Und this! Und that! Und this!" the door handle rattles, but you hear Russkie bellow again, "I am not done with you yet!" the beating that ensues sounds even more savage; suddenly, the door bursts open, Motor-Mouth flying through the air on his back, "Pow! Haha!" Russkie shouts triumphantly.

Motor-Mouth makes no attempt to stand, covering his head with his arms; he looks as if the BMP ran him over, "Let this be lesson for you," Russkie says, standing over him haughtily.

Now he turns to you, "And you got no money from him, yes? No matter, I am helping you for job well done. You are a credit to the Zone!"

Suggest we go for medium suits all around. Unless we have the physique for a heavy one. Twitch is probably going to end up with a light one, considering his size.
    >> Stalk Out of Here Getter 09/19/10(Sun)03:36 No.12145315
The only suit with full NBC protection is the heavy suit, but you won't do much sneaking, fast walking, or agile movement in it.

Medium's got good hazard protection, slash protection, and bullet protection, but it's not as universal as the heavy suit and more limiting in movement/etc. than the light.

Light skimps on a lot of protection, but it's also very easy to move in and carry stuff with.
    >> Frosted Weasel !!dLUhj2yYgMt 09/19/10(Sun)03:37 No.12145319
Bird doesn't need a new suit, if I remember correctly. And while a lot of armor and rad/anomaly protection is nice, stealth and speed make for better security, in my opinion.

Medium suits take some rifle fire, but have weak points (decent-sized plate-based armor). Heavy suits stand up well against even rifle fire, but limit mobility for it (plates, plates everywhere).

Unless you guys have a change of heart, it'll be light/medium/heavy and detector sale. That'll leave you with like 200 roubles. A couple more minutes and it's done.

its easier to buy a new detector than a heavy suit.

our advanced detector isn't worth shit if there is no one that can actually survive enough anomalous conditions to grab the artifacts.

besides bullets are a more common mode of death.

so for now we can get by on a cheap detector while the guy wearing the heavy suit can fish around for stuff in relative safety until we can scrounge up a few artifacts and buy a good detector again.

    its not rocket surgery

After considerable discussion that very nearly threatens to deadlock for your first time in the Zone, you finally settle on an order to give Russkie that satisfies all of you. A heavy suit for you, based on your up-close tactics; a light suit for diminutive Twitch, and a medium one for Damsel. Even Vlad benefits; Russkie offers to make his equipment look less blatantly military pro bono.

"You stay here for couple of days, yes? Will take time to complete suits. Motor-Mouth here can be working off his debt with house chores."

"What's to stop me from just leaving," Motor-Mouth asks, only just now recovering from his beating. It's amazing how brazen he is.

"You have no gun, little man, and this is wild Zone. You pay your debt with honest work, I let you go. You refuse, I also let you go. Into chimera den." that's a convincing argument.

"And if you touch one of our guns," you say, "I'll just shoot you. We're not so forgiving as Russkie here," after the beating Motor-Mouth got, "forgiving" hardly seems the right word, but then, he could be dead.

"Very good! Then it is settled," Russkie says, collecting his payment, "I will get to work immediately."

    And so he does.

(Next thread should be Tuesday, tomorrow's POSSIBLE but not likely; looks busy for me. Around 8 EST as usual if at all possible.)
