Any color will have to be on your own.

Here's Taleground, the /tg/ pony-considered by the inhabitants of Ponylot to be even more reclusive and antisocial than Twilight Sparkle. Exceedingly fond of rare divining tools and ensorcelled tomes, his time is primarily spent deep underground, arguing furiously with strange, perpetually amused creatures that delight in angering others. As such, Taleground is left to himself-a fate that, ultimately, he enjoys.

Yes, but in a matriarchy there is no longer any pressure to enhance one's appearance in order to attract a successful mate, since there ARE no successful males in their society, other than perhaps prizes showhorses.

So yeah, you'd get a ton of bitchy infighting over status, but status probably wouldn't depend on how attractive you were to the opposite sex.

Perhaps it's a question of those with lots of power demonstrating their power (and thereby staying dominant) by making those LESS powerful than themselves pretend that they have to attract a mate?

Even in male-dominated human societies there can be an intense pressure to be seen as 'attractive': just look at victorian england and the lengths men went to, or feudal japan.

Image isn't just about attracting mates- that's an incredibly simplistic approach to a very complicated issue which has as much to do with social conformism as it does sexual drive.

You'll find this out the first time you tell a girl she doesn't need to wear makeup to be beautiful, and she replies "the makeup is for me, not for you"

    >Yes, but in a matriarchy there is no longer any pressure to enhance one's appearance in order to attract a successful mate, since there ARE no successful males in their society, other than perhaps prizes showhorses.

Yeah, but you're looking at it too logically. Lets say a society decided it made a ton of sense that all males would be turned into mindless servitor cyborgs (lets say the dudes thought this would be unbelievably awesome as well because mind control fetishism was rampant, along with weird macho ideas about that the only proper man is one who works all day and never complains).

Even if we make the leap of logic that it is still men who make women feel bad about themselves (ignoring the fact that women's magazines preach that the ideal body is an emaciated skeleton and that men are mainly interested in certain fatty deposits), its obvious that this has been internalized to the degree that even in an all female workplace, appearance based rivalries are worse rather than better.

That may have originally been based on whether they will impress men. Rather like the reason bayonet training and mandatory camping trips in the Army used to exist for a reason. The origin of such feelings, however, is probably fucking irrelevant, as when you get to the point of women angsting about their appearance when there are no men in the building at all -- or when their man already adores their current form but they don't care -- the seeds are obviously planted for it to linger in a post-masculine society.

protip: that's because she doesn't understand the psychology of it.
being 'pretty' makes people react more favourably to her which makes her feel good about herself. This has resulted in her relating the 'feeling good about myself' with 'having make-up on'.

In a society where there is no competition to attract a mate this phenomenon of pretty people being better treated might not have developed

however, as seen by what'sherface, the shallow decoration pony, being pretty IS a factor. It might be purely aesthetical though

Which is quite false. Image is just about attracting a mate, however there are secondary effects to it which makes people BELIEVE that they are doing it for an other reason

I agree with you in principle though. The focus on pretty is probably just a cultural remnant from when attractiveness mattered in the mating game. But it is still all about mating even if they don't remember it anymore

I didn't argue or care one way or the other, as I don't think it much matters. It would be like saying that men like breasts because they imply a woman will produce lots of milk, despite that the size of the breast doesn't (afaik) have much to do with the amount of milk produced, and and that they could use formula anyway, etcc.

Size of breasts doesn't have anything to do with milk production, because the size is just fatty tissue, not glands.

But that doesn't actually matter, because you also have moths which protect themselves by having giant drawn eyes on their wings. These eyes don't actually allow them to see. But they give the APPEARANCE that they do.

A masculine equivalent is probably the pursuit of the idea that strength and never faltering and all that and being hardcore and so forth, which probably would have its root in attracting females. But when females are removed from the picture, it doesn't change at all, it only gets MORE testosterone fuelled and retarded, making, say, all-male military unit experiences to be truly retarded.

Classic example are space marines, who drill and train and exercise to be the perfect manly mens, even though luv and families are HURUSHY.

I've been toying with the idea of a Human Enrichment Initiative lately. Basically purchasing genetic stock from people with desirable features and raising them to integrate with society as a whole.

Lead by experts in their respective fields ranging from geneticists (obviously) to pick out desirable traits to pedagogics to supervise their education to nutritionists to manage their food.

It would be both a sandbox for scientists that want to have a more hands-on (though that phrasing feels wvery wrong) experimentation in their fields. I.E directing experiments rather than just reactionary information gathering and to give human evolution a little nudge (very long term goal obviously...)

Stavation Ponies gain a special aura that makes all food go bad and can also make enemies roll a ST against stavation once per round. Disease Ponies cause all living beings in the area to contract one random disease. If an Apocalypse Pony dies, it becomes a Death Pony, and becomes immortal and unstoppable. Death Ponies also start the Apocalypse

Nightmare Moon is CE by pony standards, but by regular D&D standards she's probably just CN. Her domains would be the Moon and Darkness domains from Forgotten Realms, as well as possibly Trickery or Chaos.

Princess Celestia would be LG or NG, or maybe TN if she really is all about balance and harmony and such. Domains would be Sun, maybe the Nobility Domain from FR, possibly Luck and/or Magic.

Both sisters would have the unicorn horn (spear) as their favoured weapons.

I'm up to forty nine of these damn things.

Granted, I have a few I have only slightly different versions of. I'll decide which makes a better face for the reaction later, but I'll probably end up with an average of at least two reaction image worthy faces a minute.

I still have to reload the first half of the first part. I didn't think to start doing this till I had a lucky stop on LESBO FACE image. That'll net even more faces. Perhaps an average of three a minute!

So I won't be done by the time this thread is gone, probably. And my connection sucks. Uploading it all would take time.

If anyone is interested, my screen name on AIM is String Games (and you can email me at stringgames@aol.com), but I doubt anyone cares. I'm mostly doing this for my own amusement. And hopefully the confusion of any /tg/er that didn't see this thread.

All this time spent making reaction images has taught me one thing: I love the FUCK out of the pink pony. She has some of the most awesomely weird expressions. I don't know what she's on, but I fucking want some.

And if DnD has barding rules, it would have to be for 3.5 and back. 3.5 seems ridiculously detailed enough to care about that sort of thing. The rules have to be SOMEWHERE.
