You continue to look over your equipment and it seems someone is smiling on you. You remove a cylinder like object from your trunk, in the middle is a flickering purple light. shifting constantly. You recognize it for what it is, an AI. You can't identify what type it is as of yet, you'll have to install it into your equipment to find out. Just as you are examining the package Adrianna turns around and looks at you.

"That's... Is that an AI?" She looks slightly stunned as she walks over to you. "How did you get your hands on one for yourself? You must be some kind of specialist to be given one personally." She continues to look at it when she turns back and calls to another mate in the room across the way. "Hey Charles, come over and look at this. Our new guys got his own AI."

As she calls Charles is already on his way over. He comes to stand between the two beds and looks down at you and your little toy. "Huh, well then..." He continues looking at you for a few seconds then turns away and goes back to his equipment.

Adrianna watches him walk back and say "Don't mind him, he just keeps to himself most of the time. Quiet, but he can be nice, on occasion."

You walk over to the computer and hook up the container to the computer. You hook it up and watch as the data is transferred. Slowly a hologram begins to form next to the console. Slowly a feminine form begins to appear out of the hologram, it is a tall and very thing figure.

"Hello. I am 5th generation smart AI YNN-176A-Z008. My name is Gaele. You must be Sergeant Lowell, my handler. If your CO is around I must speak with him, I need to confirm my requisition."

You look back to the others in the room. Only Adrianna and Charles are present and you inquire how many are in the squad. Along with where Lt. Winthrop.

Adrianna answers as Charles seems to be ignoring you. "Well we number six total, Charles, you and I are obviously present. The Lieutenant is currently in a briefing with the captain. Then you have Marcus and Miranda. I am not sure where they went off to this time, always off together."

You inform the AI that the Lieutenant is unavailable and ask her what she specializes in. She is quiet for a minute pacing along on her small hologram. She then turns back to you and says, "Very well, I would be inline if I informed my handler of my field of expertise. I have been designed to interact with Covenant computer systems and components. That is all that I can tell you at the moment, at least for now. Does this satisfy your inquiry?"

Adrianna come up next to you placing a hand on your shoulder. "Interact with Covenant system eh? I don't see how we'll be doing that. We don't have much contact with the Covenant Remnant." She scratches her chin looking at the AI for a few moments. "Oh well." She walks back to her bed and sits down, running her hand through her long hair for a time.

You wonder what to do next while you stand at the terminal. You have a few thought that could occupy your time.

Oh, is there a brief for the squad at the terminal? Might as well grab that and see what mission we're going to get dropped into.

You decide that wondering the ship may only serve to waste time. You may not locate the Lt. any earlier than if he returns on his own.

Asking Gaele if she is alright she responds. "I am very well. I would like to stay connected to the ship for now. I have some work I need to perform before... I won't bore you with its reason."

You shrug content and walk back to you bed and trunk. You continue to inventory what is left in the requisition trunk, only a few odds and ends. Some ammo, a cleaning kit for your weapons, extra little bits, and that seems to be all. Picking up the gear one piece at a time you stow it in the locker to the left of your bed, built into the wall. Once it is all stowed you place the trunk at the foot of your bed. Standing over the bed you unpack your personals and place them in your trunk. A few old worn books, and several medium data cells containing more books, essays, writings, and your own collection of music spanning back a long, long time.

You settle down on your bed and lie reading a book as you slowly drift off to sleep.

You are dreaming when you are slowly shaken awake. A hand is on your shoulder pushing you and a voice above you, "Hey, Lowell, wake up. Wake up!" You slowly open your eyes and see Adrianna standing over you pushing you. "Hey, yeah up now, the Lieutenant has returned and he needs to speak with you. Come on."

You slowly sit up and see Lt. Winthrop standing at the terminal speaking to Gaele. You blearily blink away the sleep from your eyes and stand up slowly. Stretching quickly you walk to the terminal. Saluting the Lt. you ask what he needs and he begins:

"Well good to meet you Sergeant, welcome to Bravo Squad. I have been speaking with Gaele here and have filled her in on everything she needs to know. She'll be all yours to handle now. Keep her safe, and keep her happy." He turns to Gaele and nods. "Now to the matter of our current mission. Listen up every one! You can have a seat at your bunk now Sergeant." As you turn back you see that the whole squad is assembled in the room. "We have a brief now, so lets get down to the Brief room. Come on quickly." He orders everyone out and to the Briefing room. You travel up three decks and enter the Brief along with another ODST squad and several officers, the captain among them. Entering the room, it is a large rectangular room with a round table in the middle. The top half of a hologlobe sticking out just above the table. Once everyone has saluted and been settled sitting around the table you see Gaele appear above the table.

"Greetings everyone, you have all been called here because we will be redeployed in the following day. We will be moving to a small planet, named Basil across the sector." She pulls up a small start map pin pointing the course change. "We will be leaving our current deployment to inspect what seems to be some kind of rebel activity on the planet. We do not know the full situation yet. However the Autumn has been requested to inspect the activity. There is are several ONI bases on the planet and we are expected to protect them should rebel activity become apparent. The two squads present right now, Bravo and Gamma, will be dropped into what are guessed to be rebel hot spots. You will perform deep ground surveillance for a period of time and report back when contacted again. Is this clear?"

"As with any deep ground surveillance missions you will want to be out of sight at all times. Each squad will be dropped near a suspected rebel outpost. You will then proceed to gather intel on the activity of the location. You should not engage anyone unless directly provoke into doing so. Even then only keep a defensive position and fall back and escape to a viable extraction point. We want zero contact until we know exactly what is going on. This should only be a routine surveillance op, and at the time I only foresee minimal risk."

'Basil is an extremely mountainous planet. Almost 70% of its landscape is considered mountainous. It contains vast amount of raw materials used in a wide range of fields for production of UNSC materials. It has only a few cities and thousands of mining operations and production facilities across the planet. Several ONI bases are also maintained in order to perform close testing of materials and some products. It also acts as a way station for UNSC vessels patrolling Sangheilli border space. However in recent month there have been many reports of what seems to be uprising rebel activity. Because of the planet's uses it holds vital strategic importance to the sector."

"Since you will be in deep ground for an indefinite amount of time your drop will be accompanied by a supplies Pod. Gaele nods to the captain, he stands and dismisses everyone. "We will begin our new course immediately, I want you all on standby for when we reach Basil. That is all, dismissed!" He salutes and walks out with his first mate.

Well then I will come again tomorrow, and start by discussing a time that everyone who actually wants to can participate. I basically have a semi-flexible schedule during the week. However weekends fluxes a lot for me so they can become easily impractical.
