    Alrigh/tg/entlemen, a concept for you.

You are offered a chance to make a weapon that has the potential to be more powerful than any epic artifact in the book. An evolving weapon, that grows in power as you do. It changes form to match your uses for it.

The catch: It is forged from a portion of your body. It is permanently removed from you. Your body continues to function as if the body part was still there (you can still eat normally without your stomach, you don't bleed to death if you sacrifice your arm). The growth speed depends on the amount sacrificed and how vital it is.

What body part would you sacrifice? Shall we build how this system works?

I know this is faggotry to say, BUT:

    D. Gray Man has an interesting concept for a bost part being the pay off for your weapon with its main character, Allen/Allan.

You get to keep the body part out of battle but in battle it's either non-existent or some other hand wave.

So pretty much you would just have a system that made the weapon's stats dependent on character level...

Concidering I'm most familiar with 3.5 I'll give an example with that...

For every two character levels you get to add a +1 in either pure +X enchantment or in an enchantment like "Spell Storing."

It take 24 hours meditation to change the enchant. (So from like +5 to, +1 Demon-Bane etc)

It takes a week's meditation to change the shape (Short sword to spear, etc)

The damage mod is what ever stat the character chooses... but takes a week's meditation to change to a different stat.

If the weapon is ever sundered or stolen, treat it a if a familiar had been killed in terms of fort DC and exp loss. Goes by character level instead of class level

OP here. Wow, this took off more than I thought it would. Let me see if I can amp this up a bit, beginning with clarification:

Sacrifice a body part to make a weapon/armor/shield/item. Body functions as if the part was still there. Damage to item is damage to body part. Destruction of item is destruction of body part. The farther you are from the item, the more it behaves as if you didn't have the part. The part really isn't there. So there is a hole where it was, and the body holds itself together.

The abilities of the item are directly related to the body part's function, so said eye-gun would aim on its own. Thus, turning your hand into a gun will have a potent handgun, capable of all sorts of tricks. But, turning your entire arm into a gun will grant you a cannon or rifle of incredible force. The amount its abilities grow alongside you is in proportion to the amount/importance of what was sacrificed. Said cannon would gain power faster than the hand or eye would.

Yes, one probably could sacrifice one's entire body, but since your body would no longer be there, you would be the item made, and unable to act without a wielder...

I view this more as an interesting way of gaining silly immunities. What would happen if you were to, say, sacrifice all of your internal organs to make claws that are bound to your hands? Or say sacrifice everything except your bones and flesh to form a ring of iron underneath the flesh, clasped around a bone? With the last one in particular, if people do not know it is there, to be killed they would have to destroy your entire body.

Alright then, one other caveat. The item's powers are used at the cost of your lifetime. It removes seconds/minutes/hours from your life. An epic battle with the weapon might cut your life by entire years. Lesser uses of it merely shave a few seconds.

Why don't we make it so that the weapon is based on the bodypart sacrificed, rather than the importance of the part?

    Waht do I get?
