Morrowind can be pretty unconventional, although some elements borrow pretty heavily from both ancient Middle-Eastern architecture as well as The Dark Crystal.

I've been thinking a bit about a setting which influences characters feeling via landscape.

For example while visiting the mountains of invincible anger, pc are prone to uncontrolable rage. Later while drifting on the sea of tears they have to be careful not to get totally suicidal and depressed.

Well the first ever published Setting was Tekumél which was pretty frickin' weird.
As far as books go i'd heartily recommend Clark Ashton Smith's Hyperborea/Xothique/Averoigne settings. The former two are delightfully weird and crazy.
Jack Vance's the Dying Earth also qualifies quite well.
Ancient Kingdoms: Mesopotamia (an RPG product), Fritz Leiber's Lankhmar and REH Howard's Hyboria is a bit less so but had it's share of weird stuff as well.

There's always Space Fantasy like Vance's Planet of Adventure or Burroughs Barsoom stories (* of Mars) that are delightfully weird at times.

With games there's of course Morrowind that immediately comes to mind. There's probably more.

I'd also point you to Planet Algol, a homebrew Fantasy/Space Fantasy setting over at http://planetalgol.blogspot.com/ as well as http://hugeruinedpile.blogspot.com/ with the two settings World of Thool (removed but he's posting retoolings of it) and Darkling Sorcery both of which are fairly weird.
http://warriorsoftheredplanet.blogspot.com/ also has some Space Fantasy stuff but it's recently started so not much there yet.

I'd post more art but a lot of it's fairly risqué, some of it being Frazetta and all.

Anyway, I think the style of Morrowind works really well and is suitably alien. The gameplay isn't great, mind, but it does a really good job of building a convincing society and culture that are far different from our own, having different but logical standards of good and evil, different styles, and a different social structure.

Oh yeah, there's the RPG products Carcosa as well as the early Wilderlands of High Fantasy stuff and the RPG adaptation of the Dying Earth all can get pretty weird as well. The man behind Carcosa is also publishing a setting down the road called "Isle of the Unknown" which aims to emulate Clark Ashton Smith's Zothique.
