And it better involve him saying "Ach! You call that an AT field" Then deploying his own.

Oh god, where do I start with this game

So the operations director (me) is a furious scotch drinking, scar wearing, order yelling, verbal abusing, more scotch drinking, tactical genius who trys (and usually succeeds) in bludgeoning his way through problems, to the point of frequently back talking the science officer and even the Commander (I've got examples of this if /tg/ wants to hear) And yes, he carries a claymore with him, even in the command center. Wants to kill every bloody angel because he's a vengeful son of a bitch (parents were also at the pole when second impact happened)
"I knew we hired the right drunk" - commander Schuler

Our AT tactician is the Rei of the group: Tim, and rather than being a sort of sad autistic, he's instead a ridiculously happy one, to the point of simply not understanding when a situation calls for any other emotion. He enjoys burritos, watching cartoons, and stuffed animals. He's totally unaware of things like relationships and sex, and when he asks what they are he's often led away to be sedated.
"Hey, Hey Jones! AT field to Maximum" *claps* - Tim before completely neutralizing an angel's AT field

    >>wow, this is going to take a while to type up all the characters

    >>13116254
Hamilton Jones is our token black kid. He's a tall, silent, brooding boy who often responds with a sniffle before storming off to go brood some more. He's our neo spartan and he has a lot of loyalty to our operations director (which I didn't mention, he's Major Donald McCreed) specializes in gravity kicking the angel right as it's AT fields go down, usually severely damaging it allowing us to destroy it the next turn. He currently lives with Tim across the hall from McCreed's apartment.
*sniff* "Just, whatever" *storms off* - Jones

Vincent Orlovsky is our quiet German kid, a bezerker, he's often almost a wall flower until you get him angry. Sometimes completely losing control, in a school fight he bit off another kid's ear. Once his EVA goes bezerk the best that you're getting out of communication is a slew of German obscenities. Loves to play Video Games, in particular Pac Man 2015, the hottest game on the market. Lives with McCreed, which is a feat in and of itself

Clarice is the group's point-woman. Having racked up more kills than any of the others when it comes to angels, she often isn't even paying attention. Prone to falling asleep at the worst of times, it's not unknown for her to get a command to shoot and just shoots the angel before falling back asleep. Lives with McCreed as well, is also a bit of a slut at times, having hit on the president of the united states and others

Do go on with the tales, but I have a general question for anyone else who has played AdEva.

What do you do, exactly? I suppose that's kind of a vague question. Is it typical to just keep throwing increasingly difficult Angels at the group until they lose / go insane and the world goes to shit? How much time is dedicated to dysfunctional socializing groundside?

Is Instrumentality ever a goal that is specifically being worked towards, or is that basically up to the DM? Is there a way to have a "Good End" in this system, albeit at great cost to everyone involved?

I'm only asking because I think it would get somewhat melodramatic if it just boiled down to a gaggle of partially insane kids fighting Kaiju-I mean angels on a weekly basis.

My game's near the end, has run for nearly a year now, and it's been about 2/3 RP/slice of life/school shenanigans/drama, 1/3 combat. Most games run 50% RP sessions, 50% combat, roughly.

I run online, so I don't know how this works in tabletop(and in fact, I suspect that no decent game can be run on tabletop, when compared to online).

But in my game, 3 IC years have passed, the pilots have gone from 14 year old freshmen to 17 year old juniors, have fought increasingly difficult and maddening enemies, have made friends and enemies, along the way, and have even survived the destruction of the planet earth and the universe as they know it, and have found out they're living in a simulation or something like it, and just fought the very embodiment of life and death. And they're not even done.

So yeah. Have a plot and endpoint in mind(or at least desperately work towards one so that when you get there, you don't look like an idiot and raise your hands saying WAKARIMASEN LOL)
    >> Alpharius 12/11/10(Sat)20:20 No.13117084

it goes about 50% role play and 50% combat, with both mixing into each other often.

    hmm, lets see. NPCs
Commander Schuler is of course the Gendo of our game, she's pretty much like him, down to her gloves, but has a somewhat warmer personality. What her plans are, are anyone's guess
    "Good job McCreed" - Schuler

Dr. Aiyala, she's our science officer, close friends with McCreed from back in the day, she knows the part of him that he doesn't show and the reasons why he's so bloody intent on killing every angel if he has to do it with his bare hands. Frequently plays the foil to his character, the reasonable side, often unsuccessfully when it comes to McCreed
"McCreed, try to be serious..." - Aiyala

General Eisenstein (deceased) was the America appointed over watch for NERV Nevada. Constantly angry about the future being in the hands of children and the only person with the balls to stand up and argue back at McCreed. He was at the white house when an angel walked right though it on it's way to Nevada, mentally scared, he launched an attack on NERV, threatening to cease operations while he dropped 6 N2 mines on the angel while the EVAs were right next to it. Was finally taken down in an awesome moment I'll describe when I get to it.
"I don't trust handing over the future of our race to a bunch of brats, I'm taking over this place" - Eisenstein

Hale is an NPC sniper hired on by McCreed. Originally a side joke in which he was constantly around, always out of sight ready to tranq Tim when he started asking too many questions. Of course, watching for something like that is going to leave a man stressed far more than any normal man should be. A little unhinged, he's still a capable member of NERV
*Heavy Breathing* Hnnng What are you saying Tim, What are you saying!" -Hale

Stepmen is a nerd, the head of the technology department and with research and development, he looks up to McCreed, for who knows why. Often asked for favors when needed, he's always there ready to deliver.

That's about it in the way of NPCs, we also have the Bunker Bunnies who are in the command center, the bunker bats, who are the gothic night shift for the command center, the water wabbits who are in the water based mobile front.

Now, I guess I could get to some stories involving this cast of characters if you guys would like?

So one time, we're sent to retrieve the magi system from the NERV Alaska base. Only problem is it fell into the water. taking a full fleet of the NAVY, as well as some very expensive nuclear submarines we headed north. Heading down into the depths, we thought that it was going to be difficult to find it, like a needle in a haystack. Annnd then Tim... He just uses AT ping, and finds it immediately. Bringing it back up to the surface, no sooner were the EVAs back on the boats did the water freeze over completely in an instant. "Blood pattern blue confirmed, it's an angel!" McCreed Order's them to their EVAs, hopping down onto the ice as a huge angel, wearing the parts of an EVA for armor emerged, the fighting ensued, the beast taking damage before submerging itself.

Then it resurface, under the mobile front!. Crashing right through the command deck. McCreed was completely unfazed (first thing I bought as a character was fearless), rolling his chair out of the way of a falling metal beam that crushed a water wabbit, he stood up and barked into his headset "Jones! you better bloody come pick me up, ah need ta see the battle if I'm gonna order ya!"

Being picked up and put down on another ship, he then commanded the battle from there, without the magi system having to resort to ordering everyone else around while the EVAs delt with the construct. Smashing it with hammers, blocking it and nullifying it before finally managing to kill the thing once and for all.

Returning home Eisenstein was furious "You just lost all of our countries mobile nuclear capability"
"so? fook off ya ninny, before I start to get mad," McCreed answered back as he sat down in his chair, taking a drink of his scotch. Eisenstein continued his rant for another few moments before storming out as Commander Schular walked up to McCreed.
"Good work today," was all she said before walking off.

I'm in an Ad Eva game, but it's only been a few sessions and one angel fight, so I can't really give much of a story. The characters are fun, though. And some of the NPCs promise to be even more fun. The head of research for our NERV branch, for instance, is a completely amoral mad scientist.
    >> Anonymous 12/11/10(Sat)21:07 No.13117663
Lets see, our group is composed of the following:

Marian Greysmith: Our ops director, and the guardian for the pilots. Shes a veteran of the Impact wars, and a retired RAF Major. Has a grudge against the boston area tank squadrons, every since a M1A2 ran over her car in the first "episode" and forced her to hijack a schoolbus to get to NERV on time. Managed to completely destroy said schoolbus during a frantic driving segment, thankfully none of the pilots were hurt.

Shanon O'brien: A manufactured Pointman who was adopted by Marian at the age of four. Was previously unaware of her manufactured status until about two sessions ago, when she gave her life to defend Pilot Owens by diving in front of an angels eye laser. Woke up the next session in a tube of LCL, freaked out for about 15 minutes, then her normal personality more or less restored itself and she punched the chief scientist in the face for being an asshole, then went off to go have something to eat.

Michael Owens: A Canadian Progidy Berserker who is basically a parody of Shinji from the Television series. Doesn't really know how to handle the pointman who keeps hitting on him. Was kinda confused about how she died yet came back to life, but decided that he'd seen stranger shit and to roll with it. Uses a Progressive sword in combat.

Hans Ichman: A German NeoSpartan Skirmisher who focuses on being a sniper. Has named his positron rifle "Inga". Also has a Great Positron cannon on reserve for when we need the really big guns, named "Sascha". Likes comic books. A LOT. Won't shut up about them, even when fighting. Despite this hes pretty good during a fight when he needs to be.

Anastasia Manim: A Russian NeoSpartan AT Tactican. She acts like she's in TTGL most of the time, which is actually pretty effective, since we're playing a game in a more straight up super robot setting rather then the more grimdark standard one. Once launched an Angel into a suborbital trajectory using a number of AT Powers and a N2 mine, we ended up having to fight it again anyways, only now it could fly.

So...have they done anything yet? I might as well post my own group.

Alice Hartmann: Neo-spartan skirmisher. Has a bad eye and lots of nasty scarring ever since an angel attack which happened a few year sin the past. Favors melee combat and is pretty friendly and warm, for a neo-spartan. I'm trying to play her up as a cool big sis type of character, despite her only being all of 4'11". Pic related.

Helen Wright: Prodigy AT Technician. Spent most of the first fight being completely confused by what's going on. Is a bit of troublemaker and has a history of bouncing between boyfriends.

Brooke Madison: Prodigy pointman. Another troublemaker. Actually has a family. Also confused when she started out. I haven't figured her out yet.

Meiya Morrison: Neo-spartan skirmisher. Focused on range, rather than melee. Was involved in the same angel attack in which Alice got her scars, which left her in the hospital due to complications related to her eva getting its limbs torn off.

The NPCs are also fun. The OD will be one. not sure what sort they'll be, as Meiya's player was one at first, but decided that the detached style just didn't work out for them.

Our NERV branch commander hates women and children, so that means he really isn't a fan of any of the pilots. He's kind of like Gendo ,but without the beard, and with even less sympathy. His younger sister is a lot friendlier.

The science team director, as I'd mentioned previously, is an amoral mad scientist. We haven't met him yet, but his little blurb on the NPCs page is great. Probably insane, and if he weren't working for NERV developing ridiculous things, he'd probably try to find a way to work for the angels. He's also a reference to a previous game the GM has ran, and if he's anything like I remember there, he will be fun.

Anyhow, as of last session, the pilots had defeated an angel, and are all living together in one flat that can just accommodate all of them. Shenanigans have yet to ensue, but they doubtlessly will ,between everyone being as dysfunctional as eva pilots are, Alice enforcing a rigid training schedule upon the two civilian pilots, and school.

Could tell my story so far, though it isn't much.

First session begins with an angel attack. The OD is rounding up the civilian pilots. Alice is waiting to deploy in the geofront. Brooke is the first pilot picked up, and because the jeep the OD was driving around in had a gun up top ,she chose to sit there, for some reason. when they arrive to collect Helen, she points said gun at her for a moment.

Some time later, the confused prodigies get to meet Alice, who gives them a crash course in NERV, evangelions, and what they'll be doing. Not very well, probably, but it's going to take a while to sink in. She leads them to the locker room where they change into their plugsuits. GM's decree is test plugsuits only, and it doesn't take long for the new girls to figure out why Alice wears a big coat over hers. The pilots get to their evas with no further complaints. Alice forgot to warn them about the LCL, so there's a bit of a drowning panic.

Evas deployed. Fear checks triggered by the angel, which is described as a sphere of swirling water and chunks of earth and buildings, with a core suspended in its center. Pic is what the GM linked to us for reference. No pilot passes. Alice panics and runs away from the angel, to take cover and hide behind a building. This is slightly understandable ,as last time she was deployed to fight one, she can't even remember what happened. Helen panics so bad she's just sitting there muttering various things. We do rule she somehow reflexively threw up an AT field, though. Brooke is shaken, but not so terrified as to be ineffective. The OD orders a retreat, as the situations' pretty awful. Helen never left the embarkation point elevator, so Brooke has to go retrieve Alice, who shakes off her own terror about the time she's being dragged back toward the angel and elevator. The angel takes a few potshots with chunks of rock stored within itself, and proves to have terrible aim.

Fuck, I'm long-winded. Field too long at least twice.

Before second deployment, we're once again dressed down by the NERV commander. Though since he did as much after we retreated, I got to use my line about him hating women and children much earlier than expected.

Second combat does better than the first, notably because we weren't asked to roll fear tests again. I was expecting we would, but with a bonus. this session goes all to hell due to too much OOC chatter and us being a little too new to the rules, still. I get fed up with it about the time Brooke's player forgot her own last action was a called shot. So I made an OOC channel so we can keep all of our being idiots and not remembering how Dark Heresy works (a standard problem with learning any new system, ever) away from where we were stating actions and rolling dice and roleplaying.

Anyway, OOC woes out of the way...this battle did better. Brooke and Helen both rush the angel straight away. Alice hangs back to deploy an AT field and eventually neutralize on the angel. Brooke gets rid of the rest of its AT field. The two evas in melee do pretty well against the angel, slicing it up pretty damn good. Though the angel unleashes an extremely powerful pulse sort of attack that hits everything near it. Alice decides it's tactically sound to keep her distance, even if pallet guns suck.

Helen literally dives into the angle to go after its core, and it counters by increasing its internal pressure in an attempt to crush the eva. Ridiculously good hit roll, succeeds in bypassing the AT field...and ends up doing minimal damage.
    >> Anonymous 12/12/10(Sun)01:57 No.13120667
    >>13120650
Did it again with typing too much.

I know at various points in the fight, the angel is successful with a few ranged attacks and otherwise does a good amount of damage. Helen's eva was reduced to 0 wounds on head and looking bad on the torso and at least one of the legs, by the end.

Alice empties the pallet gun's clip into the angel with a few rounds of largely ineffective full-auto firing, while Helen and Brooke tear the angel up. Next round, Alice tosses the gun, draws a knife, and moves to charging range. The other two pilots both break their progressive knives. Alice charges, righteous fury happens, and the angel's core is destroyed, resulting in a huge explosion.

All evas survive with none taking critical damage. The final analysis was, actually not that bad of a battle.

Alright, let me tell you about General Eisensten. To start, let me assure you that no NPC in this campaign was more hated.

News of the Children broke to the world after the Sixth Angel's attack (a custom Angel, not Gaghiel), despite NERV's best efforts to keep the nature of what was going on hidden. They only managed to keep it under wraps for so long because we're NERV Nevada, situated at Groom Lake (the fortress-city built there in our campaign is named Seraphim Falls, because I had just seen that film and lacked ideas. It turned out to be an unintentional pun we all found delightful).

The public wasn't happy about such an important military operation being in the hands of children (one can only imagine their sentiment if they knew the full extent of what was at stake). Since our host country and primary financier was the North American Union, Washington found a way to reassure the civives: the illusion of oversight, in the form of General H. Eisenstein. Unfortunately, no one gave him the "illusion" bit of the memo... (cont)
    >> OP's GM 12/12/10(Sun)05:43 No.13122436
This was your classic, knuckle-dragging Cold War ape of a general, with a nuclear hardon a mile high. He only distinguished himself during the clusterfuck of WW3, immediately after Second Impact, by being slightly less incompetent than everyone else around him. He was thoroughly unsuited for military operations more complex than "march, then kill people" or, at best, "push the button, and kill people." And to top it off, he had that paranoid, Cold War mentality (he was old, ~80ish, kept in place because the President was close to him [same president for the past twelve years, North American Union is slightly different than the US we know]).

So he shows up, full of bitter criticisms leveled at NERV's incompetence, their faith in "spoiled brats," and "their use of overgrown children's toys (the Evas)." Operation's Director McCreed immediately hated him. The Children couldn't take him seriously. Commander Schuler displayed unusual amounts of emotion (for her, at least) by hinting at slight disdain. Vice Commander Davis tried to keep everyone cooperative, with limited success (Davis is the most respected person there, by far). (cont...)

With the hypothetical authority to curtail our American funding (which he threatened often), we got along for a few Angels without anything particularly egregious happening. However, that would not last: outraged at the loss of one too many tank squadron (they were largely full of Americans), he goes to Washington to argue with the President and the Secretary of Defense (2nd in line to the Presidency in the NAU). The President is inclined to agree with Eisenstein, while the fishy-character that is the Secretary of Defense, argues in NERV's favor. The President agrees with the General, and the SoD storms off.

A short while later the 9th Angel, which resembled a 2-dimensional, inky-black line moving extremely fast and parallel to the ground, sped out of the Atlantic Ocean with no warning, straight through the White House, on a beeline towards Nevada. Suffice it to say that Angel was defeated (at the cost of our Unit 00 and the 2nd clone of Tim). The President was also fine, escaping with minimal injuries and agreeing to continue funding NERV after his first-hand encounter with an Angel. Eisenstein was not so lucky, suffering severe Ego Barrier damage from "direct contact" with the Angel (lots of NPCs have ego-barrier damage in our campaign, especially in the wake of Second Impact. For lack of a better generalization, we sort of think of it as a cancer-of-consciousness, a health-crisis unique to a post Second Impact world. It killed McCreed's wife long ago, and it's killing Hamilton Jones' sister) (cont...)

So he rots away in NERV's hospital for several sessions, unconscious, losing all of his hair, and generally looking pretty bad. After the 11th Angel, he regains consciousness, and immediately shouts for McCreed. He's pretty apeshit now, not completely there anymore (never will be again).

So now he's confined to his little electric wheelchair w/oxygen tank, and goes back to bitching at us. The 12th Angel, Abruel, appears in Las Vegas, and starts to fuck everyone's day up. (Las Vegas is the primary manufacturing city for military arms post-Second Impact. Gone is any vestige of its former self. It's a secondary Fortress City upon which Seraphim Falls relies for endless streams of ammunition and equipment). The Pilots are dispatched by maglev to deal with it. (cont...)

They're working on getting killed by it, when Eisenstein rolls on to the Command Deck back at HQ, 85 miles away. He's escorted by a half dozen generic elite special forces dudes. He insists he's taking command of the operation. Everyone is like "fuck no," especially McCreed, who gets in his face, gets pretty verbose with the Scottish profanities. Finally, Eisenstein, yelling right back, explains that the bombs are already on the way to Las Vegas:

"We're done pussy-footing around with God damned children's toys: we're going to do this the AMERICAN WAY!"

    >> OP's GM 12/12/10(Sun)05:48 No.13122453

The special forces brook no disagreement with Eisenstein. McCreed, however, is steadfast in his refusal to relinquish command. One of the grunts threatens our Science Liason, Dr. Ayala, who is incidentally McCreed's best/only friend. McCreed relents:

"Alright, alright. You win. I have one thing to say, though: take the shot, Hale."
    >> OP's GM 12/12/10(Sun)05:49 No.13122458
    >>13122453

Eisenstein's brains are splattered across the deck by McCreed's contact, Hale, who is a special forces sniper himself (and normally the Children's unseen bodyguard). The Special Forces sort of derp around like "wat," in time for NERV security to arrive and regain control of the situation.

The bombers delivering the N2 mines are shot down by the military units under McCreed's command, sparing Las Vegas and the Children imminent destruction. The battle against the 12th Angel still rages on, however, spilling over into its third session. We have yet to resolve how the NAU will react to their oversight being brained, or its bombers shot down. It likely won't be good, but if there's anyone who can take the heat, it's Major Donald McCreed.

    (fin).

I can regale you with more stories of the campaign, but I somewhat suspect they aren't this manly.
    >> OP's GM 12/12/10(Sun)05:53 No.13122476
    ADDENDUM:

I also forgot the bit where bombs hitting Las Vegas is doubly bad because it's where a lot of the outdated American nuclear stockpile is kept (1/3rd of it, in fact, since it's one of the most secure cities in the NAU).

I know that a disarmed nuke can't hurt anyone, but we fluffed it that the exotic particles released by N2 mines would set off a chain reaction and generally ruin everybody's day. Rule of cool, and all.

"Hi, I have BS 80, and everyone is at short range to me, so its really 90. Did I mention my free reroll every turn on BS checks? Also, I shoot a beam that laughs at your AT Field, your armor, and hits so hard its rare that you dont loose a limb. Oh, by the way, Armor thick enough to ignore most of your weapons."

The PC's had a plan: Intercept Ramiel in greenland via dropping in to a area with spare battery packs, waiting for the slow moving angel to get into range, and then jacking him up. The pistol Skirmisher deployed her AT Field to use Float on the drop rather then do a acrobatics check on the ice while landing. Ramiel noticed and took off her Unit 08's left leg. Then the Berserker raised his AT Field, so Ramiel shot at him from that lovely 2 kelometers out. He had a experimental advanced shield. It actually held against the hit. The Skirmisher melee quickly figured out how Ramiel was targeting through the blizzard. Little miss pistol dropped hers, Berserker did not. The second time, the shield didn't hold, and he nearly lost an arm. He dropped his field, and the only undamaged Eva stayed powered up while the others went to minimum to wait for the agaonizingly slowly approaching Ramiel to reach engagement range. That crazy melee skirmisher, he just stands in Ramiel's direct path of advance. Ramiel fails its intelligence check and stops for a moment when it finds this 40 meter wall in its way. Que the other Two units powering up. Suprise players, it has a close range weapon. Star power!

Naturaly the skirmisher has an eva with thick armor, lots of wounds, and a toughness soak so high he once blocked an enemys wing launcher shot with his face for no wounds. The huge blast is so wide he cant actually dodge it all, but he only takes damage to his leg, rather then every segment of his Eva. His plan to retaliate is to open up at point blank on full auto with his battle rifle, for which he spends this action neutralizing it for all his might. Pistol skirmisher is just in neutral range, and thows her weight into the dimond of doom, then fires a shot from a nice little rail pistol. Shot doesn't deflect, it just bounces off the armor. On the upside they know it has a core in the center, on the downside the Berserker cant get into melee with that experimental heat sword he has been dieing to use after the last sim. Full bore death blossom to melee skirmishers face, insanely low damage rolls lets him stand there in the full 5DM wide Electron beam and only take damage on his left leg. His turn, Full Auto at point blank into it. 6 hits, 2 deflects, 1 RF, total wounds done to torso? 3. to quote him "Fuck this." Drops the rifle and quick draws the great axe he has on the weapon rack. Berserker reaches half move to neutral range, closes and neutralizes Ramiel's AT field finally falls to 0. Pistol skirmisher double shots, and watches a hit on the core by a rail pistol and a mas pistol bounce for no damage. "Well, this is not good."

Ramiel apparently finally decides to stop dicking around, and this time the little 'death blossom' tears the melee skirmisher up something fearce, vaporizing his head, dropping his right arm to critical, his left leg to critical, and ravaging his torso, Eva defeated, and the ejector? Never gets a signal, which saved his life. the ruin of his Eva flops to the gound. But Ramiel's AT stregnth wont reload until its turn. Berserker charges in, prepares to lay the smack down, brings in his heatsword and takes a chunk out of Ramiel. Ramiel, actually damaged, decides to vaporise him, Berserker manages to get nearly clear, and takes exactly 1 critical damage to his left arm. 7 scessions in, and Unit 03 finally Berserks. Pistol skirmisher decides that the rail pistol is a great idea, and total crap, dumps it for the heat axe he borrowed from the melee skirmisher for this mission, and the maser pistol, limps toward the battle. Ramiel shoots with his 'lol wide' beam. Berserk unit 03 soaks the entire thing. Then it proceeds to on cut battle Rameil with a rightous fury for 24 wounds after reduction. Ramiel sheads crystal everywhere and burns its fate point to avoid being destroyed, snaps shut, and trys to get the fuck away from unit 03.

Naturally, this is disengaging from melee by running. Unit 03 just troll faces and smacks it into negative 5 on its torso. Ramiel retaliates by vaporising Unit 03's legs. Meanwhile, the shocked pistol skirmisher opens up on the fleeing angel with the mas pistol on full auto. managed to drop it to -8 torso. Aims.
Ramiel full moves the hell away from that dull black/ light purple monster. Unit 03 uses its booster, cant actually ceatch up, and it burns battery to use that thing. Unit 03 naturally does not give a fuck. Skirmisher pistoleer realizes this is her last chance to stop Ramiel before it will escape, decides on two hail mary plays. half action aimed called shot to the core with the mas pistol. deal 0 wounds... At Push the Heat Axe into its core. Axe goes flying by inches from Ramiel's core, nearly hitting the leaping torso of Unit 03. Ramiel flys off into the blizzard, horribly, horribly maimed but alive. Unit 03 shuts down with 1 hour battery life to sustain its pilot against the blizzard. Pistol skirmisher slumps back, waits out the 50 minuets until retreval teams get there, not even cursing. Her only concern? "Oh god when the Melee skirmisher sees that throw he is never going to shut up about it." What do you know, Melee skirmisher never said a word about 'you nearly hit your own side for the 5th stright engagement!'
Bolter round to the back of Melee skirmishers head, Positron shot that nearly hits the head of the berserker, mas pistol full auto that hit berserker more then the enemy, hand cannon round bounces off the back of melee skirmisher, now this.

Following their loss, Ramiel regenerated, and continued on its way. They watched the UK branch engage with 3 Eva's. Ramiel had done some improvements. 2 pilots lost, 2 evas brutally damaged, 1 eva majorly damaged. Ramiel slowed by 3:34 by the NPC's of the UK branch. Sucks not having fatepoints huh? Command pulls out the big guns to buy time. Orbtial Bombardment with CHECMATE system will be dropped on Ramiel when it reaches the shore of Japan. Then every Eva on the planet (barring Unit 00) and a pair of 'borrowed' Tridents is going to make a maximum effort strike on it. Today's scession delt with getting the Tridents and freeing up the last two Eva's by cleverly getting HQ to declare the Boston commander a treitor, and then the Berserker delivered the message himself courtisy of a Kisaragi owned Trident crashing directly into the Boston branches bridge. The stupid ex-commander tryed to pull a gun on a pilot, got several new airholes in his head. How did they get a corperation head to sign off on this use? Fun stoy there...

Current World War Eva/Adeva campaign thing. 4 PCs and one fucking crazy GM.
The GM setup a military heavy campaign; emphasizing artillery support when we took down the angels’ shields, that nukes can penetrate AT fields and absolutely wreck an angel or eva if they are high enough yield, using the evas as shield generators for armies, ect. He adapted the Death Watch horde system to allow use to fight armies.
We started in media res, it’s 2019 in a setting where the angels came more sporadically. They didn’t have the evas for the first angels including the Zeuriel equivalent so they just nuked them, with actual strategic nuclear weapons instead of sissy N2s. Zeuriel took an 80Mt blast from a nuclear mine and his carcass got hurled into orbit by it. We killed the last five tricksty angels with the evas: a virus type(Nanomachines in my NORAD trying to launch ICBMs? It’s more likely than you think.), two infector types, one that burrowed under NERV Japan, and giant space gun that was shooting down the ICBMs before then could hit it. That last one was a lot of fun since we had to draw its fire and shoot back while the Chinks, Ruskkies, and Yanks spammed missiles at it.

Following a breif confrontation with Tokyo - 3's staff (showing up unannounced by decending from low earth orbit to sit your nearly eva sized mecha in the street while their turrets refuse to lock on because of a manufacturers override tends to rub people the wrong way.) they spent a hour or so split, while the melee skirmisher annoyed Shinji Ikari with the constant "How did you get so high a SR?" and general fanboy antics someone with a 2:0 angel kill record solo tends to have to deal with, he insisted on seeing the Evas. This beings his thread together with the pistol skirmisher, who has been having hints for a little while now that theres a couple more of her just hanging around somewhere. So short campaign right? Well then Russians found out about Seele’s instrumentality bullshit and rallied the militaries of the USA and China behind them to stop it. So we were sent in and fought six mass production Evas whose parts had been shipped to Germany and assembled there. You know the drill, pull out the dummy plugs ect. But since we had lost our escorts and support to N2 mines, and there were six of them supported by most of the European NATO that Seele had co-opted we could only kill three before the Russians just said “fuck it” and launched a fractional bombardment weapon they had in orbit and dropped twelve 400Mt bombs in the middle of Europe. Most of the British and French ICBMs in control Seele were shot down by Russian and American ABMs. Russia lost Moscow when there missile defense was compromised and the US lost Boston when one of the MIRVs split before it could be shot down. Pretty interesting outrace the nuclear fireball session though.
So the current situation as of the last two sessions
USA/Japan have absorbed most of the remnants of NERV since they had the most NERV Facilities to begin with. Consequently they are ahead on Eva related stuff but lost absolute naval superiority when half the aircraft carriers got blasted by Seele in the Apocalypse Europe campaign. Both the countries have become military dictatorships, along with pretty much the rest of the world. We are currently stomping African nationals for them, and I expect that a certain missing Eva will show up soon.

Europe has been gutted by nukes. The British Eva has disappeared; the incomplete French Eva is confirmed destroyed. Germany is crater. Most of the remaining European military is bivouacked in Australia.
Russia only has 2 provisional Evas of its own but has chosen to just spam ICBMS like in the Cold War. It has all but annexed eastern Europe
China has 1 true Eva that it is actively using to take over most of South East Asia with the acceptance if not support of Russia and the US/Japan.
There are also hints that the top brass of the four remaining great powers are angel hybrids. The Gendo equivalent in the Japanese branch seems to be and the General Ripperesque US Commander is openly flaunting it. I quote “The old fools never understood the spirit of Man. Loneliness, misery, hatred, war: these things are what make us strong. They denied this fact. They would have run and cowered in the dark like children rather than standing as men. But we will stand. It is the will of God that mankind shall become gods ourselves. We will tear at the firmament and drag down all those weaklings that had the audacity to think themselves gods before us. That which we can conquer does not deserve our reverence. Man’s very nature is to surpass the limitations of humanity.” So we will probably get to fight human/angel hybrids latter.
Also the GM talked to me about a possible betrayal, since I am playing the American pilot and it involves General Ripper. Basically it involves me being launched win a hug space battleship driven by nuclear pulse propulsion and using the battleship and my AT field to divert and asteroid toward the planet. Supposedly so they can part it at a lagrangian point and drop it on Earth whenever they please.

The really helarius part is that the reasons the pilots are the ones running around trying to rally people to save everyone is because their higher ups are so busy pulling political manuverings for the inevitable fall of NERV and the UN as organizations. their own branch commander has been gone for two weeks now, first trying to get the UK branch to side with the NAU, and then gutting their scientific branch before anyone else could after Ramiel toasted two of their three pilots. I have carefully avoided mentioning where the dead pilots Eva's went. the survivor is at their base now, and such an antisocial jackass no one wants to deal with him (just as planned.)

So its up to the MAGI of their base and the pilots to try and get shit done while everyone else is busy stabbing each other in the back. The world is breaking down into 3 power blocks. SELEE/Tabris owns the European Union. Ikari/HQ has essentially made puppet states of Russia and China, and the PC's commander, Gabriel is trying to secure the North American Union. The boston branch commander was trying to set up his own little kingdom. I say was for reasons of getting shot by the Berserker (Ikaros) today, and having the MAGI loyal to him smashed before they could flood the facility with a deadly neuro toxin.

Then you have the players: A little french girl now wrapped up in the 'Am I mass produced?' question. A american street tough named Uriah who cares more about finding out what the hell the Engelert Initive wants with his sister then humanitys survival. (Gabriel runs them, but none of them suspect that yet I belive.) And the Berserker Ikaros, who is left as the lone sane uncorruptable man in a world going fucking crazy. He's been taking skill in command, and I suspect his plan is pretty simple. After all, the NAU is going to need a field commander.

    >>13124457
So the wayward pilots Phadre and Uriah manage to ceatch one little important exchange before heading back 'across the pond'. The Vice Commander addresses Mana when she comes in with "I already told you, I voted my shares of Kisaragi, and you wont change that, Majority shareholder or not." So they pile in Mana's little LEO party wagon, Buz boston on the way back, "Ever seen people throw their entire defense grid at a bow wave of plasma they cant hope to penitrate with missles?" and make it home in time to wake up their Berserker comrade after an hours sleep. The moment Mana hands him the papers he just turns to her and says. "I have to show this to my superior, then your taking me to Boston base's command center." Their scientific director who is now stuck working 3 peoples jobs worth of load and has operational command until Gabriel gets back reads it. And reads the coded message the PC's failed to find in it. Signs off on 'removing Mizrahe from power' without asking anything. Que hopping into the red Trident mass production model. "Red ones go three times faster." according to Ikaros, and buring fuel over to Boston.

Boston of course hasen't had time to rearm its missles yet since its been about 2 hours since a plasma coated missle 35 meters high buzzed them. Ikaros states he has a urgent message to deliver to the commander, it is for him only, and that he took the Trident because it was faster. The poor suckers fail their scrutany and open the armored bay doors in the Geo Frontless facility. They reach the end of the tunnel, and are told to wait for a car. Ikaros decides not to. so Mana just crashes the damn Trident through the interveneing space into the cages, then into the massive holo tank in the standard command bridge. Ikaros pops the hatch, pulls out a plain file folder without even a NERV logo and his side arm, hops from the front of the Trident to the top of the command bridge, hands the head of the science department the message. Mizrahe demands to know what the fuck this is about. "As of 7:34pm Pasific, you are no longer commander of NERV's Hyperion facilitys. You have betrayed humanity, and will be tried and executed." the Ex-commander trys to draw his pistol, gets mowed down by Ikaros with extreme overkill. "Congratulations on your temporary promotion until the sub commander gets back Dr.-" looks at his name tag "Stedman." The Magi try to gass the place, and Ikaros just syas. "Mana, mind taking care of that."
Pic is the next angel in line for Avalon.

que Trident smashing its arms and the chin of its head into the three MAGI clusters. "Damn, broke the dorsal turret." Turns out that the Ex-commander had killed his XO, called in a false bio weapon alert, citing the angel he had pulled out of a part of a proten barrier that was going to ship to HQ that month as the cause, and locked the facility down. Mana fucked up big time and actually said "Wait, you have Iruel in there?" Which knowing Ikaros will come back to haunt her. Ikaros just says "Look, what to do with Angels other then kill them is above my pay grade. Wait for orders from Avalon branch." Hopped back in the Trident, and they headed back. so the last act of the scession was Ikaros saying "So since its a 4 hour trip due to your little stunt, how about you tell me why you knew an angel by name?"

plots in this campagin: Ya, its about as complex as this looks.

    BIG EVA: SHOWTIME

Anyway, I'm playing an Operations Director, and right now its funny. As the nun in a group of Terrible players who are full of terrible things, I've decided to up the ante. One player recently died thanks to an Encroacher, and I decided to use the body as the basis for the dummy plugs, and when not doing that, serve as the cybernetic bodyguard (looks normal, besides the voice), So, any tips on this, or is this a terrible idea as is?
    >> Anonymous 12/12/10(Sun)12:22 No.13125153
Well did the players body receive any damage before he/she croaked? If so, replace it with techy bits. You can be a total nutjob and give it some shooty gubbins in those cybernetic replacements ala the Aegis from persona or Kos-Mos. How would you go about "controlling" it is another issue.

It could work, but it also has potential to fail miserably

That is apparently from the unused design art for a Gundam production. I have 1 other picture of the same, from several angles. This one.

It seemed a workable design similar to the TRIDENT, but more refined. (its not as sleek as it initally looked from that one image, but its not set up in flight mode)

The Raiden Advanced Trident (In my campagin) is designed to provide rapid response and Orbital Interception capability, and mounts a standard duel Positron Cannon mounting, allowing it a limited possibility of Angel Interception. It is not meant to supplant Evangelions, but to assist them. the Kisaragi corperation's Nurgal Heavy Industrys branch devloped it, and the prototype's weapon fittings are not completed yet. (wont be tell after Ramiel) They range between conventional load outs, to missles, to minituized N2 weapons, up to a single mount Fission Reaction-Enhanced Yield Armament, or FREYA Progressive Directed Fusion Cannon. In essense, a directed Fusion detonation. Recoil is projected to be a nightmare, but radiolgical weapons show promise at overcoming Angels biological resistance (toughness soak is 1/2 vs Radiological weapons). This does not address the AT Field problem of course, but the Jet Alone Prime is to be fitted with a 'Artifical AT Field module'. (Its a Limited Production Eva prototype. The brain, core and spine of an Eva, no other biological parts Don't tell the pilot.)

hay, at least your not arming them with a Dirac Rift Cannon. (aka Black Hole Gun) which uses oddly entry plug shape/sized shells. Thats really just a amplifier for SR for the dummy plug it expends with each shot. "Why do I hear a scream when I fire it?" "Physicists think its a quirk of physics." "Why does it sound like X?"
Then of course each expended shell has a 5% chance of breaking open when it hits the ground. Oh, and they cant share ammunition due to 'incompatablity' AKA its not a plug of the pilot, it doesnt work.

And then theres being the basis for the Dummy Plug Mk3... Pic related.

It loses an eye during Sachiel. It gains wings and flys at the end. Your welcome, but I can not claim responsaibility for this one, blame AMV Hell for showing it to me.

    >That is such a wonderfully horrible weapon, right there.

Oh I know. I thought to myself "What would it take to make a Black Hole Gun in Eva?" Then I thought it up. Then I realized what I had thought up, went to the bathroom at the mental video of hearing myself screaming in abject suffering for a moment and being abruptly silenced, only to work the action, the shell to fall down into the street, and see my own naked corpse inside the broken capsue, face frozen contorted in pain. I actually ran to the bathroom and threw up at my own inability to see how wrong that idea was until I had sketched the entire thing out, and a few seconds after I was done.

    >Brainwashing
"You will cooperate with NERV, for the good of humanity and your own survival. You will carry out all orders related to piloting to the best of your ability. You will be allowed limited freedom and access to society if you cooperate. Resistance will be punished. Obedience will be rewarded.” - Recorded conditioning message used on Manufactured.

    >how are you going to combat the organic material decomposing?
LCL instead of blood. LCL has preserative effects on living tissue, and most tissue is sill alive for days after brain death. It supplys everything needed, so long as you can get a fresh supply every however long it takes. Hell, it doesn't need a digestive tract, remove that and place a tank and circulator there. I have a NPC pilot that was raised to think of himself as the biological core control component of his Eva. He has no problem getting all the cybernetics his project manager (his mother) wants installed. Why yes, It is remarkably fucked up. But no more then the MP3.

    Whats the MP3?

Heres a Hint: When my players see this in their city, the ones who know the show will freak out. The one who dosen't will look confused. I originally intended this to be their first hint about it, but it was too cute without clues before hand to hint at the sinsister realitys. I like doing that, introducing what seems like a little in joke, then having them look back on it and pale.

Man, you sound like an awesome GM. I've never made myself sick off the implications of something I've thought up though. Must keep trying.

It's been too long since I watched AMV Hell. Of course, i stopped caring after AMV Hell 3 was an hour mostly made up of in-jokes and references I didn't get, with the occasional bit of actually good humor. The first two and zero were much better.

I try to be a good GM. I've ran games for a while, but I had an even better GM (at some things) to get me into TTRPGs. *Shrug*

    here it is:
    Mass Production Pilot Program: MP3
Ayanami-type: Obedient, Calm, AT Tactical. Designed for high AT Stregnth, stability and obedience. To provide AT support.
Montrive-type: Quiet, Dexterous, Ranged specialist. Designed for visual acquity, reaction time, and willingness. To provide mobile firepower.
Langly-type: Skilled, Powerful, Flexible combatant, Command type. Designed to the highest standards, to command from the front lines of battle.
Scrya-type: Resilient, Focused, Point-man. Designed for loyalty, force of will, and self sacrifice. To control the flow of close battle and hold the front lines.
Nagisa-type: Polite, Unquestioning, Close Combat specialist. Designed for high SR, and lack of initiative To assault in close combat.
Daio-type: Enthusiastic, Irrepressible, Unarmed Combat. Designed for physical fitness, high reaction time, and stable positive morale via hormone level manipulation. To fight without the need for resupply or support for extended periods. (pictured)
Yagami-type: Resilient, Immoral, Specialist Equipment. Designed as a sociopath to avoid combat stress build up, while providing specialist equipment support.

You might notice that type M is the name of one of the PC's. Every army needs footsoldiers. The name is Last name-type. and any Eva fan would immediately have concerns about N-types.

    >>13125833
Possibly a few other types as well. As they're at least familiar.

I'm doing my best as GM as well. only playing i Ad Eva, as my half-assed ideas for the system aren't enough to run a game on. The game I am running is getting progressively better, and is certainly better than my first attempt. More structure helps.

I'm particularly proud of my upcoming "boss" encounter, which shall be the usual gigantic psychic brain in a jar type. It will rant about crazy things to the party, and stuff will just get more fun from there. "The world is my oyster, and I, I am the public's pearl! No one can resist my rakish lobes..." and so-on. The nature of its psionic attacks shall be amusing.

Hopefully, none of my players are reading. If not, ah well. I've got a week to come up with more material.
